Today's reading will cover Jeremiah Chapter 23:5-6; Chapter 31:27-28, 31-40, Chapter 33:14-26, and Ezekiel Chapter 27:1-24, 26-27. Today we will read about God's faithfulness to His promises: He was faithful to be with the people when He sent them away and He will be with them when He brings them back. He is faithful to keep His promise to bring us day and night. He promised to always have a descendent of David on His throne and Jesus is descended from David's family on both Mary and Joseph's side of the family, so whether by birth or marriage His lineage is of the family line of David. God promised to make a new promise with people, and He has. He brought us the New Covenant with Jesus atoning for and paying the price for our sins so that God would not remember them anymore. Time and time again God shows us His faithfulness. In the same way, we need to be faithful to HIM, right up to the very end. We have been learning about making God the most important one in our lives this year. God wants us to do what is right and fair. He alone is worthy of our worship. Especially as the time of His return gets closer and closer we are taught that the love of most will grow cold. We need to persevere and hold fast to the end, loving people as God does and remaining faithful to Him the way He is faithful to us. He loves us and cares for us and is always with us. We need to be faithful to Jesus and abide with Him as He taught us we need to do. We can't do anything apart from Him, but by living (abiding) with Him, we can do ALL things through Him because He strengthens us. Stay faithful, fellow brothers and sisters, no matter how hard the world becomes and the love of most grows cold.

Hello everybody. Today is July 3rd. You are with Robin at In the Family Way Coaching and we're here for our daily Bible reading. We are going through the Bible this year. You know what?
00:00:14
Speaker
It's the Day by Day Kids Bible written by Karen Henley.
00:00:20
Speaker
Thank you for joining me today. Whether you are following along on your podcast or whether you're watching by video, I am still happy that you are joining me here today. I say that every day and I'm not just saying it. I'm actually really happy that you guys are here with me.
00:00:34
Speaker
I look at the videos before I start recording to see if anything has been watched because I like to make sure if things are maintaining interest and like that. And I was just so shocked because I got yesterday's video posted so, so late. It was like 1.30 in the morning after I got home from work at midnight after midnight.
00:00:54
Speaker
And you guys still watched it before I looked at it before 12 o'clock today, I think. So thank you so much. I'm so glad that you are here with me. I was shocked. I didn't think anybody would have time to watch it or

listen.
00:01:06
Speaker
But thank you for being here. If you are also keeping track on your commitment calendar, then it's time to get that out or however you're marking off your calendar with your stickers or your pen and get that out because you're about to hear the Bible today.
00:01:26
Speaker
Yesterday we had such a happy message and i think today is too. And I'm so glad because I could do with some happy messages.
00:01:35
Speaker
God is so faithful and we are going to see again God's faithfulness today. And I really enjoyed today's reading. It is lovely. We are going to be hearing about Jesus.

Prophecies and God's Faithfulness

00:01:48
Speaker
As we've mentioned before, we are going to be hearing a lot about Jesus in the in the prophecies now because it is getting closer to the time when God will bring him.
00:01:59
Speaker
Now, it's still not for a couple of hundred years, but in God's time, that is still very close. He has been warning and warning for a great number of years about the impending promise. discipline that he would bring as he offered the people time and time again to turn from their ways and spare themselves from having to be disciplined.
00:02:21
Speaker
by God. And now we're we're going to start hearing more about the promises that God made to bring Jesus and to have a new covenant with this people.
00:02:32
Speaker
And I'm so thankful that God left us these promises because it allows us to see his faithfulness. We've been seeing all throughout this year that God tells the people what He is going to do.
00:02:46
Speaker
And we read in one of our readings that this is to prove that He is who He is. That if there are false prophets who claim one thing and His prophets who claim another, then at the end of the day, you can tell who is true by the fruit.
00:03:02
Speaker
by the things that do come true. And God has told us it's so that you can see that I am the one who made these things happen. It was not your false idols who made these things happen. It is me. I said these things would happen and they are happening.
00:03:17
Speaker
God gives us lots of advance notice. So it's not like it can be, uh, guessed upon that it's coming in the near future. And, ah and and potentially you know give the idea that this is something that suddenly is occurring or what we might call self-fulfilling prophecy, where something happens because somebody hears about it in the news per se.
00:03:40
Speaker
It says, oh, I'm gonna do that. And so God is showing us from quite a long time, and we are seeing this clear back from like Exodus that God had made these promises all throughout the Bible in the Old Testament.
00:03:55
Speaker
And it's just so wonderful to see because now we're seeing more of them.

Jeremiah and Ezekiel's Messages

00:03:59
Speaker
And we're seeing them through three different prophets who are ah active at this time. Daniel, Ezekiel, and Jeremiah.
00:04:08
Speaker
So God was very active at this time. He was sending messages that were being written down. And there would be other prophets, but they did not write things down that became part of our Bible.
00:04:21
Speaker
So we don't have those things, but it doesn't negate anything that's that God said would happen hundreds of years before he did it.
00:04:32
Speaker
And so we are going to be seeing more about Jesus today. And we are also going to be seeing a warning for the nation of Tyre, spelled T-Y-R-E. why r e And this is going to show, as we have seen like with Nineveh and with other countries where God has sent messages to the countries around Jerusalem and Judah rather and Israel, God has sent messages to these other countries.
00:04:59
Speaker
And he is showing that he is God of all people as we read yesterday. They may not be acknowledging him as their God, but that does not mean that God doesn't exist or that he does not have authority over all of the earth.
00:05:13
Speaker
or all people. God raises up whom he will raise and he lowers whom he will lower. He does offer consequences to people for their pride and for their bad behavior.
00:05:27
Speaker
And we're going to see that again today as he issues a warning to the nation of Tyre. So here we go. We are going to be covering Jeremiah chapter 23, chapter 33, and chapter 31, and as well as Ezekiel chapter 27.
00:05:52
Speaker
Our first section is entitled, A Wise King. Can you guess who that's about?
00:06:00
Speaker
Someday i will bring a wise king, says God. I will keep the promise I made to Israel and Judah. I will make a branch grow from King David's family.
00:06:14
Speaker
He will do what is fair and right. Judah will be saved. Jerusalem will be safe. Israel will be safe too.
00:06:26
Speaker
The branch will be called the Lord our goodness. God told Jeremiah, Someone from David's family will always be king.
00:06:38
Speaker
Someone from Levi's family will always be a priest. God spoke to Jeremiah again. Can you stop the day from coming?
00:06:50
Speaker
No. Can you stop the nighttime? No. Then no one can stop the promise I made to David. No one can stop the promise I made to the priests. i the Lord your God, keep my promises to bring day and night.
00:07:12
Speaker
I made the laws that the sky and earth obey. So I won't turn away from my people. I will bring back good days for them. I will care for them.

Tyre's Downfall and Lessons in Humility

00:07:25
Speaker
Little Ones and Big Ones Someday I will bring my people back, says God. I watched over them before and sent them away.
00:07:37
Speaker
This time I will watch over them and bring them back. The people of Israel and I will make a new promise together. The people of Judah and I will make a new promise.
00:07:51
Speaker
It won't be like the promise I made before. I took them out of Egypt. I was like a husband to them, but they broke their part of the promise. Here is the new promise I will make with them.
00:08:05
Speaker
I will put my law in their minds. It will be as if I write them inside their hearts. I will be their God. They will be my people.
00:08:17
Speaker
They won't have to teach their neighbors. They won't have to say, No, God. That's because they will all know me. Little ones and big ones will know me.
00:08:31
Speaker
I will forgive their sins. I won't remember their sins anymore.
00:08:37
Speaker
God tells the sun to shine in the daytime. He tells the moon and stars to shine at night. He makes the waves roar. He is the God who has all power.
00:08:49
Speaker
That's his name. Here is what he says. Will Israel stop being a nation? Only if these things stop. Will I turn against Israel?
00:09:02
Speaker
Only if you can measure all of space. Only if you can dig into the middle of the earth. Someday Jerusalem will be built again, said God.
00:09:15
Speaker
It will never be torn down again.
00:09:21
Speaker
A Sad Song, Ezekiel chapter 27.
00:09:26
Speaker
One day God spoke to Ezekiel and he said to sing a sad song for the city of Tyre. I called it a nation earlier. I misspoke. This is a city. People went to Tyre so they could sail on the sea.
00:09:41
Speaker
Tyre's people sold things to people in many lands. But here is God's sad song. Tyre, you say you are beautiful.
00:09:53
Speaker
You say there is nothing wrong with you. You lived on the high seas. The people who built you made you beautiful. They built you with wood from pine trees.
00:10:05
Speaker
They used cedar trees, too. They used oak and other wood. They used ivory. They brought linen cloth from Egypt. They used blue and purple cloth.
00:10:20
Speaker
Sailors lived there. All the sea's ships came to buy and sell. You had an army of fighting men and they hung their shields on your walls. They hung the helmets for their heads on your walls too.
00:10:34
Speaker
Men looked out over your walls to watch for enemies. Men looked out onto the tall towers. You had lots of things for others to buy. People traded silver, iron, tin, and lead for the things you had.
00:10:51
Speaker
People traded workhorses, warhorses, and donkeys. People paid you with ivory and black wood. People traded beautiful blue and red stones.
00:11:06
Speaker
They traded linen cloth and purple cloth. Even Judah and Israel traded with you. They traded wheat and sweets. They traded honey and oil for the things you had. People traded blankets to go under horses' saddles.
00:11:25
Speaker
People traded sheep, rams, and goats for what you had. People traded spices, beautiful stones, and gold. People traded beautiful clothes.
00:11:39
Speaker
They traded colorful rugs.
00:11:43
Speaker
But the east wind will break your ships into pieces. It will happen in the middle of the sea. Everything on your ships will go down into the sea.
00:11:57
Speaker
That's the end of our reading today.
00:12:00
Speaker
That's quite a warning for the city of Tyre, isn't it? Can you tell why? It's because it says in ah in the beginning of the chapter that They thought they were so beautiful and there was nothing wrong with them.
00:12:17
Speaker
The people who built you made you beautiful. So they were very arrogant and very conceited about their beauty. They had everything. People went there for trading everything. Their ships were beautiful and they brought goods from everywhere. It was a big trading place.
00:12:37
Speaker
And that what made them rich was their ships and their beautiful artwork and their craftsmanship of those ships. And they put their faith and their trust and in their own hands.
00:12:49
Speaker
They did not give God credit. They did not give God any glory. They were not worshipers of God. And they became very arrogant and trusting in their own craftsmanship.
00:13:02
Speaker
And God says their craftsmanship was still no match for him. And he would destroy them with the east wind that would destroy the ships and sink them into the middle of the sea.
00:13:15
Speaker
And it says everything on your ships will go down into the sea.

Faithfulness and Engagement

00:13:20
Speaker
So that would take out their whole economy, which would crash the city because they wouldn't have anything to to sell.
00:13:28
Speaker
Nobody would need to go there to buy anything because they would have nothing to sell because their ships but could no longer bring anything.
00:13:38
Speaker
ah All people belong to God and God gives authority over those he will give authority to and he takes it from when he decides that they need needs to be taken.
00:13:51
Speaker
So today, as we talked about before we started, though, our daily application is God's faithfulness. We read today that God says that he watched over the people before, even while he sent them away.
00:14:04
Speaker
And this time he would be watching over them to bring them back.
00:14:10
Speaker
God says that he would be making a new promise, which we are, we know that new promise, that he would be putting the law in our minds and it will be as if he writes them inside on our hearts.
00:14:22
Speaker
And we will be their God. his we will be He will be our God and we will be his people. There we go. I misspoke that, didn't I?
00:14:31
Speaker
God is so faithful in his promises. He told David that there would always be someone from his family on the throne. And Jesus is from the line of David, both on Mary's side and on Joseph's side, because Joseph was her husband, even though not her, and even though not the, the father of Jesus, he was still Mary's husband.
00:14:59
Speaker
God is so faithful. He says also that he is the one who made the laws that the sky and the earth obey. God made everything happen.
00:15:13
Speaker
And we try to study things like physics and science to try to figure out how things work. And we want to sometimes give credit to things being random or or the way that things were just, that just happened.
00:15:28
Speaker
And we see that God tells us over and over again that he is the one who made the laws of physics. He made those rules that everything obeys.
00:15:40
Speaker
There is night and there is day because God made those rules. And he says that those, that it will stay that way And the earth obeys.
00:15:51
Speaker
And he says, I, the Lord, your God, keep my promises to bring day and night. We don't have to worry about things changing.
00:16:02
Speaker
God made the promise to keep these things happening until he decides that he is going to make his new heaven and a new earth at the time that ah it comes in the very, very end.
00:16:16
Speaker
It says that the branch of that Jesus will be called the Lord our goodness. Isn't that beautiful? We know that whatever God promises is true.
00:16:28
Speaker
We know that that is one of the names that Jesus has. Our our ah little Bible here, um I'll call it our little Bible, gives it a slightly different name. But the Lord is ah the word Adonai, the Lord God.
00:16:44
Speaker
And so this would be Adonai, the Lord, our goodness, meaning he is God. So it is he is not just a man that they are calling the Lord.
00:16:55
Speaker
He is God. and god And Jesus was fully man and fully God.
00:17:02
Speaker
So that's our daily application today is to see how faithful God is. He makes promises and he keeps them. In the same way, we should also be faithful to stay firm in our faith with God, to not be drawn aside by troubles and when we have things happening, that we need to remember to stay faithful to him.
00:17:26
Speaker
We've been learning this year to make God the most important one in our lives and that the way is narrow to do the right thing, but God knows our hearts. And we've read recently that the love of most will grow cold,
00:17:41
Speaker
as we get closer to the time of his return, of Jesus's return. But we are to stand firm in our faith. We are to be faithful to him in the same way that God is faithful to us.
00:17:54
Speaker
He takes care of us. He is always here with us. And we want to be sure that we don't deny him and walk away from his ways. As we've studied also,
00:18:04
Speaker
ah to make sure that God knows us, that Jesus knows us at the time that we are called to him, that when we stand before him, that he will know who we are.
00:18:18
Speaker
And we do that by being faithful to God and by abiding with Jesus. Jesus says to abide in him and to not leave him because apart from him, we can do nothing. And with him is the way that God works through us.
00:18:32
Speaker
And that's how we stay close to with him and to do what is right, because he has written his word, his laws on our hearts and in our minds, just like he has promised to do.
00:18:43
Speaker
it's all one big cycle. And I just love it, how everything is connected. Everything is connected. And it's just so beautiful and perfect and wonderful.
00:18:55
Speaker
So I hope that you are encouraged by today's reading and that you feel God has lit your light today. And I would ask that you would click that light button after you're done listening or watching so that we can draw others to this event so that they may hear God's word and help us spread the word about reading God's word.
00:19:13
Speaker
I hope you have a fantastic rest of your day and I'll be here for everyone again to tomorrow.
