Thanks, Jack. Welcome back to Little Hops a Horse Podcast. I'm John, your host as always. If you have not, please check out our socials. We're on Instagram, Facebook, still working on the TikToks and the YouTubes and all that stuff that the little kids like to watch these days. But we're on all the other major audio streaming platforms under Little Hops a Horse Podcast. Leave us a review. Leave us a like. Follow all that stuff. Tell your friends. um Usual bullshit. Anyway, ah we have a special episode today. Been trying to get this in the works for a couple of weeks and it finally, it's happening. So I'm very excited to do this. But first, beer we're drinking today.
00:01:12
littlehopsofhorrors
I'm doing Track Botanical from Dancing Gnome. It's a 7% hazy IPA sitting at 4.06 on Untapped. And with that, I'm going to introduce our guest. ah Her name is Carrie McGuire. She is an actress and has been a big, big proponent of what's going on with Terrifier 2 with ah all the conventions and just helping out with stuff like that. So Carrie, what are you drinking over there?
00:01:36
kerry
I'm a nerd right now. I'm just drinking a soda. I got off work and I am super tired and hot. I'm just drinking granted soda.
00:01:44
littlehopsofhorrors
Hey, no problem with that. i don't I should probably take your advice and drink less beer and have more pop. but um um yeah So let's roll right into it.
00:01:49
kerry
yeah
00:01:53
littlehopsofhorrors
So so you want to tell the folks like who you are and how you kind of you know what made you even kind of get into horror? Do you have like anything anything you really enjoy about it? What got you involved in this industry?
00:02:04
kerry
Well, I've been a big fan of horror since I was a little kid, probably around seven or eight. I sneaking downstairs to watch like visiting hours and ah Friday of the 13th, scanners, all that stuff. Just loved horror from a young age.
00:02:17
littlehopsofhorrors
Mm
00:02:19
kerry
um Just loved it of all through growing up and everything. And got when I got married to my husband, we discovered horror conventions and we just you know met a ton of people that we just love, ah good friends we call family now. and Um, just, it's just, it's our life now. It's just, that's what we do.
00:02:40
littlehopsofhorrors
Yeah, yeah, I get it. I think a lot of us got our start around that that same age for whatever reason. I guess our parents were like totally negligent, just letting us watch slasher movies and you know cutting people in half and God knows what. But hey, that you know that's why we're here today is because of all that stuff in the video rental section. There's um there's a documentary, actually it's called it In Search of Darkness. It's on shutter. If you haven't seen it, it's great. It'll take you right back to being a kid. um And it shows the It was like the marketing behind all of that what they did the really cool um Like VHS covers to make it appealing and kids always want to do stuff what you're not supposed to do They always want they gravitate towards that so I think that had something to do with why we all started at such a young age But yeah, I don't know.
00:03:12
kerry
Uh-huh. Yup.
00:03:21
littlehopsofhorrors
Um, do you have any favorite movies or anything like that?
00:03:22
kerry
And look at us all now because we're all normal and we're all totally normal. We just love horror.
00:03:25
littlehopsofhorrors
You
00:03:26
kerry
We love watching people get ah decapitated and we're just like, yeah, but we're so we still normal. We have jobs and kids and
00:03:33
littlehopsofhorrors
Yeah. Yeah, seriously, though, especially with the movie we're going to be talking about today. ah My goodness. So I assume that Terrifier is one of your favorite movies, as is mine. But do you have any others that you like?
00:03:43
kerry
um Oh, geez. Let me look. Terrifier 1 and 2 are pretty much my favorite ones right now. I love anything 80s cheesy horror or anything.
00:03:54
littlehopsofhorrors
Yeah.
00:03:54
kerry
just I go through 2B and everything and I just, oh, that looks good. Click, click, click, click, click. I just watch whatever. But yeah, mainly a Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a favorite.
00:04:01
littlehopsofhorrors
yeah
00:04:05
kerry
um Exorcist, just pretty much what everybody likes.
00:04:09
littlehopsofhorrors
Right, right. I mean, they were all the I mean, that's the gold standard for horror. Without those movies, we wouldn't have things like Terrifier or anything today.
00:04:16
kerry
Yep.
00:04:16
littlehopsofhorrors
and And I really do like that about the franchise. um I love what Damien's doing. He he kind of leans into that cheesy 80s horror, you know, where you don't need a deep storyline. You just need a cool horror icon. And that's exactly what we have in Art the Clown, ah who.
00:04:30
kerry
You just want to look at it and go, oh my God, that is amazing.
00:04:32
littlehopsofhorrors
Right.
00:04:33
kerry
I want to, you know, I want to watch more of that clown. I need to see more of that.
00:04:36
littlehopsofhorrors
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. I mean, I I don't think I've ever seen a whore I I liken him to Freddy a lot ah Because I think he's very charismatic and for not ever saying a word. He's like the funniest horror icon ah That exists. I think he's just David does such a great job of portraying him in in every movie And I'm very excited for Terrifier 3
00:04:54
kerry
Yes.
00:04:54
littlehopsofhorrors
Um, so, so how did you become involved in all of this? Like, I mean, this is, this is kind of all of our dreams. It's just like hang out with, I don't know if you were friends with them and then all of a sudden you're, you're on the road with these guys going to all these conventions and stuff. Like, how did this come to be?
00:05:08
kerry
ah Well, um we were at their first convention that they went to. ah They came to a convention out here in Arizona back in 2018, right after Terrifier 1 came out. And my husband and I were just, we're standing at their table and we're just like, Everybody were grabbing people come meet these guys, you know and they had one table between the two of them and now David has three tables and Damien has two tables and they were all you know, and they were like so humble and they were just like really you guys really are aren' coming here to meet us and we're just like you guys are freaking amazing and you know, it was just it was crazy and Every time we you know that we saw them going to be another convention.
00:05:32
littlehopsofhorrors
Right? Yeah.
00:05:47
kerry
We'd be like, oh, let's go to that one Let's go to that one. My husband and I would just you know save up money and we go and just, you know, see them. And it was, it was just fun. Just, it was like seeing old friends every time we saw them.
00:06:00
littlehopsofhorrors
Yeah.
00:06:00
kerry
They're like, Hey guys.
00:06:01
littlehopsofhorrors
Yeah. And then they decide, so did Damien come up to you and say, Hey, how would you like to be killed on screen? What, you know, is that, was that the pitch or what was it?
00:06:08
kerry
No, um they were actually, there he was doing the Indiegogo. He announced that. And I was like i was watching it. My mouth was was dropping. I was just like, oh my god. I have to get killed. like That is the biggest bucket list.
00:06:19
littlehopsofhorrors
Oh, hell yeah.
00:06:20
kerry
I mean, if I do anything in my life, does I want to get killed by Arthur Clown.
00:06:24
littlehopsofhorrors
Yeah, I watched your I watched your your cameo today and it was I mean it was awesome You got lit up pretty good at at clown cafe and everything, but at least you have to pay the bill I guess so you got that point That's awesome though.
00:06:25
kerry
and
00:06:34
kerry
Yeah. yeah
00:06:36
littlehopsofhorrors
That's awesome I mean, but like you said, I mean it it it this feel like feels like it all happened so quickly because I remember when I first saw Terrifier that nobody knew about it right like the first hair fire it was like a i found it in the deep depths of some streaming service or whatever like that and actually i bought it you know it was before that way before that this was in like twenty twenty something i don't know i had a friend tell me about it they said it's super gory it's a lot of fun you gotta check it out so i did and i loved it immediately
00:06:54
kerry
in covid during covid ah
00:07:05
littlehopsofhorrors
I bought the Blu-ray as a birthday present to myself ah when whatever year that was and I posted a picture of it on Instagram and I tagged Terrifier and David actually said happy birthday from your favorite con on the post which was fucking great I'll never forget that that was awesome but to go from like a relatively unknown franchise to now this is like I mean right at the forefront of any any modern horror franchise because of of what attention it's gotten over the years like I mean what has that been like for for these guys do you have any insight to to anything like that?
00:07:17
kerry
during COVID, during COVID.
00:07:34
kerry
I mean, ah it's it's wild. It's crazy. um just i don't even I don't think that they they knew it was going to get this big. you know we met My husband and I, were like when we were standing at their table the first show, we were just like, you guys are the next Freddy. You are going to be...
00:07:48
littlehopsofhorrors
the Yeah.
00:07:49
kerry
freaking super big and we knew this and we kept telling them this and it seemed like before Terrifier 2 came out when we saw we saw them at um the Colorado show right before the movie came out and Damien like you could tell that he was nervous like he didn't know like how it was going to be received or you know he didn't know if it was going to flop or be awesome and we were just like it's going to be freaking amazing and it was.
00:08:12
littlehopsofhorrors
Yeah, I give him a lot of credit because there were some stories that leaked out about Terrifier 3 that he did pitch um this to some bigger studios and everything and they turned him down because of how graphic the opening couple minutes are.
00:08:23
kerry
Welcome.
00:08:24
littlehopsofhorrors
right and And he said, fuck you, I'm going to make it anyway the way I want to make it. And I respect that. And and I always say that that this this franchise in particular they brought an unrated movie, an unrated horror film, to the big screen ah for us horror fans to go enjoy in a movie theater. We always have to wait until the steel book comes out or you know it finally gets released on a streaming service and for us to be able to actually go and hang out in a movie theater with other horror fans and watch somebody get ripped in half and not be judged for laughing our asses off like you talked about earlier is awesome and I mean we we definitely owe
00:08:57
littlehopsofhorrors
um You know, we owe Damien, you know, a lot of credit here for all that and the people that helped him along the way like you. So ah this is cool. Do you have any like favorite moments? I mean, obviously, so you were on set with these guys with the special effects. I know that Damien has a special effects background and all that stuff. um And it doesn't look like it's easy to put on arts makeup. But, you know, do you have any like fun stories from behind behind the scenes? You could tell us.
00:09:20
kerry
um Well, when I was it was filming the Khan Cafe scene, and it was only part of it. It wasn't like the whole scene. It was only like basically um when Leah Voorhese was walking around singing and we were standing there clapping and stuff. It was 12 hours, pretty much, of just that. So, yeah.
00:09:38
littlehopsofhorrors
Wow.
00:09:38
kerry
So we had to act like we were talking to each other and all the people. and And you know, we do the whole thing and then he go cut and then let's do it again.
00:09:44
littlehopsofhorrors
Mm
00:09:45
kerry
Cut. Let's do it again. We just do that all day. And, you know, and then when we got done, I had to leave the next day. So I had to get my kill scene done. So.
00:09:54
littlehopsofhorrors
-hmm.
00:09:54
kerry
um Olga, the the amazing all lady who did the all the set design and everything, she took me back and she did she put tubes under my shirt and put holes in my shirt and taped them down with duct tape. Then I came out and Damien had all these big ah tubes tubs of blood and tubes and everything. and I was like, what the what are you going to do with that? and He's like, just do watch. and So ah they they hooked them all up to me and ah Phil and all the rest of the guys were all behind me underneath me with the the tubes and and the camera was all covered in plastic wrap and garbage bags and stuff to keep them getting bloody. and And Michael Levy's yelling, Carrie, everyone's dying around you getting shot. You know, look scared. And I'm standing there like,
00:10:41
kerry
I was so happy. And I don't even remember. All the faces I was making and stuff and and shaking and stuff, like I don't even remember doing that until I saw it on the screen when I went to see it.
00:10:49
littlehopsofhorrors
Right.
00:10:51
kerry
And I was like, that looks so good.
00:10:54
littlehopsofhorrors
Yeah, it was that was a gnarly death for sure. One of many in that movie. ah Yeah, I mean, i was I'm always curious to see how that stuff gets done. And I love that he just puts in like hundreds of thousands of gallons of blood, it seems, in all these movies. Like I can always use more gore and he pushes my limits sometimes. And it sounds like the next movie is going to be no different, but that's awesome. that um
00:11:14
kerry
Yeah, the the first time he did it, the blood didn't come out high enough. So he's like, let's try it again. So he came over and you know he's fixing my hair and everything. And so it looks continuous. And then ah they pulled up with more blood. And the second time, it just it came out.
00:11:27
littlehopsofhorrors
Oh yeah.
00:11:28
kerry
I looked like Carrie from the movie Carrie. and i was And everybody was like, yeah. I had to drive home and walk into my hotel.
00:11:33
littlehopsofhorrors
Hell how
00:11:35
kerry
And they're they're all looking at me. I'm like, I'm OK.
00:11:39
littlehopsofhorrors
ah That's hilarious.
00:11:41
kerry
My bathroom was completely covered in blood and I was just like, this is awesome.
00:11:41
littlehopsofhorrors
Yeah, I never even saw that.
00:11:45
littlehopsofhorrors
Wow, guess you're not getting her deposit back, huh? No, that's... I never even thought about that side of, of you know, the movies and everything. i I, for one, don't think I'd have the patience, like you said, to do the same scene over and over and over again for like 12 hours. I'd be like, bro, dude do you have it yet? Like, um I'm pretty sure we got it. Like, how many... But, I mean, that's that's what it takes to make a movie like that. And, and you know, I gotta credit everybody that...
00:12:09
kerry
He wants everything perfect. Everything's perfect. And and he he knows what he wants. and
00:12:14
littlehopsofhorrors
Right. um Yeah, but I mean, like I said, I mean, I definitely praise that this franchise for for everything it does for everybody. um ah What's it like working in like, I mean, like with David, though, like, you know, you you've already kind of praised Damien and like his creativity and his his perfection. But ah David it just seems like so much fun to be around. He seems like a genuine human being that you could just like bump into somewhere. And if you didn't know who he was, you wouldn't know who he was because he just feels like so down to earth.
00:12:43
kerry
Yeah, he's he's awesome. He's a lot of fun. We've been I've known him since like 2018 and you know, we've gone to conventions and we see him and we've you know, got to dinner and hung out and he's he's just he's both of them are just amazing human beings. Both of them are just kind and humble and just the sweetest people and just me and my husband are both just like blown away when we're sitting around talking to them like we are sitting here, you know, it's like how Damien is when he hangs out with Tamsa Vini and stuff.
00:13:08
littlehopsofhorrors
We're gonna.
00:13:11
kerry
It's like we're like
00:13:12
littlehopsofhorrors
I know. Yeah, and he's going to be in the next movie, too. I heard that he's going to be in here.
00:13:16
kerry
Yeah.
00:13:17
littlehopsofhorrors
I've been trying to get Tom Savini on this podcast for forever. I've reached out to his agent. None of them want to do it. I'm like, come on, just just throw me a bone. I just want to talk to you. I don't even and even care about like ratings or anything like that. You're an interesting dude. You're the godfather of fucking practical special effects. I want to talk to you. ah But yeah, so that this is this is super cool. um So we got the new one coming out. ah It got bumped up a couple of weeks. ah Is it going to have an extended run? Do you know? like the the The second one only was initially supposed to have one night, and then you know those those sold out all throughout you know the the country, so they made it you know one weekend. Then it turned into like a six or eight-week run, and it just started getting on these you know all this publicity, and that's when this thing just took off. and Everybody's saying, it's going to make you throw up. and
00:14:01
littlehopsofhorrors
You know, it probably did make a bunch of people throw up because casual horror fans aren't ready for Terrifier. They're just not, you know, they're ready for like Halloween ends or something like that.
00:14:06
kerry
No.
00:14:09
littlehopsofhorrors
Some awful, you know, mass produced bullshit.
00:14:10
kerry
Chucky.
00:14:11
littlehopsofhorrors
Yeah, whatever. Yeah, whatever it is, but they're not ready for like Art the Clown doing Art the Clown stuff. And so I did see that you posted not that long ago, you were working on, are you in Terrifier 3?
00:14:17
kerry
Yeah. yeah
00:14:23
kerry
No, no, I'm not.
00:14:25
littlehopsofhorrors
Okay. So what was that that you posted where your face was like melting off? You posted a video a while back and it stuck out to me that you you were working on some kind of behind the scenes, something where like you had like a mask on or something and you were peeling it down and you just have like blood underneath it. Do you know what I'm talking about?
00:14:43
kerry
Yes, that is another movie that I just got done doing back in April by Sean C.
00:14:49
littlehopsofhorrors
Okay.
00:14:50
kerry
Phillips. It's called Skate to Hell. And it's it's ah call it's a really cool movie. It's 80s style skateboarding. The Devil's Sun comes up from hell and ah with a skateboard. And somebody steals it from him. He has to try to get it back. And it's got a whole bunch of really great, great people. Oliver Robbins, Brett Wagner, Eileen Deeds, just all kinds of really good people in it.
00:15:14
littlehopsofhorrors
This is awesome. So I mean, you just kind of, it sounds like you just went to some horror conventions and you know you started meeting and being nice to the right people and everything. And and now you're you're in another movie. This is awesome. Good for you.
00:15:25
kerry
Yeah, ah before that, a year before I worked on ah Desert Fiends with Sean Phillips, too. He did that one. It's like a wrong turn meets Hills Have Eyes with mutants and stuff. And that was really fun. That was the first one I donated some money to being a scene with Brett Wagner. And it's just, just you help help them make the movie and without, you know, without your help, like these movies don't get made. So it's really easy to, you know, scrape some money together and, you know, donate and be part of it.
00:15:49
littlehopsofhorrors
Right?
00:15:55
kerry
And then you meet people and, you know, you become friends with them and you just want to help support their their next films and their next projects. It's just, it's a lot of fun.
00:16:03
littlehopsofhorrors
Yeah, um I interviewed, ah there's a movie coming out, it's an indie movie, it should be out later this year. At least that's what they're aiming for. They weren't fully funded when I interviewed them, but the movie's called Vampire with a B, so it's like a zombie deer up in like the ah like Oregon, Washington area.
00:16:16
kerry
Mmhmm.
00:16:22
littlehopsofhorrors
um and And it's like a 90s style found footage. They found like a VCR or like a VHS tape or something in a camcorder. um and And they were talking about the generosity of the horror community and just like, I guess actors and actresses, you know the people that just do it for the love of being being an entertainer, you know and and people that have made it.
00:16:43
kerry
ye
00:16:45
littlehopsofhorrors
And they like, dude, I remember indie movies. They're awesome. Here's two grand. like They don't even think about it. they just and And that helped their campaign a lot. And it was really cool to talk to them um you know for some behind the scenes stuff and just kind of get a little bit of insight to how these things come. And you never know, because this you know that that movie in particular could be the next terrifier. you know because Terrifier for a minute was just not well known. ah This was like something that that us horror nerds had to ourselves for a little bit. If you saw it and you knew about it, you told your friends. But now, I mean, everybody's looking forward to this third one.
00:17:17
kerry
and And wasn't that awesome having it to ourselves for a while because now I run a, I help run a group called Eartha Clown Appreciation Society on Facebook.
00:17:21
littlehopsofhorrors
Yes.
00:17:26
littlehopsofhorrors
Thank you.
00:17:26
kerry
And it went from 5,000 members before Terrifier 2 to we almost 30,000. And it's just like, ah!
00:17:33
littlehopsofhorrors
Yeah, yeah, it's insane. ah Yeah, and thank you again for for agreeing to come and come on here. I would like pester the shit out of you to get you on here. But hey, i I just kept shooting my shot. You said yes, and we made it happen. So again, I'm very thankful that you came on. ah Yeah, that group's a lot of fun too. And and it's just people that love Terrifier. And it just goes to show that like, you know, Damien has a product, David, you know, has has his gifts and everything, what they bring to the table. And you see the community, you know, kind of build around them. And it's nice to see people that that are are still just discovering Terrifier now. you know, and and they love it.
00:18:04
kerry
Yep.
00:18:04
littlehopsofhorrors
And you're like, cool, you're on board to welcome, you know, we've been here for a while. ah But it was definitely cooler when it was like, our little movie that we liked, and nobody knew about it, you know, so ah some, you know, it whatever, I'm glad to see that they're they're succeeding and all that stuff.
00:18:08
kerry
Yep.
00:18:18
littlehopsofhorrors
um That's awesome. ah But do you have any teasers or anything you could tell us maybe about Terrifier three, anything small, little tidbit, anything like that?
00:18:28
kerry
I know nothing. I know nothing about it. they They filmed it fast. And the only thing that I knew about, but and they finally and it came out a couple days ago, is that Jason Patrick is in it. I knew about that from back in june back in ah ju July of last year, but kept it going.
00:18:39
littlehopsofhorrors
Yeah, I just saw the thing.
00:18:43
littlehopsofhorrors
Yeah, so he's he's pulling in he's pulling in some big time talent again. And you know this is, uh-oh.
00:18:50
kerry
Oh, I lost you.
00:18:51
littlehopsofhorrors
No, no, no, come back. You still there? I didn't lose you, did I? Are you still there? Are we still hanging out?
00:18:58
kerry
Yeah, you froze, your picture froze.
00:18:58
littlehopsofhorrors
OK, thank God. I know.
00:19:01
kerry
There you go, you're back.
00:19:01
littlehopsofhorrors
I have Starlink. Yeah, I have Starlink and it sucks. It's like Elon Musk's internet because I live in the middle of nowhere. And so like every once in a while it just shuts down for no reason. But yeah, we're just about done. What do you got working in the future for you? I mean, you just mentioned your new movie that you're working on. What's Carrie's next steps? Are you trying to go even further into this industry or what are you thinking?
00:19:25
kerry
i'm I'm not an actress. I don't want to be an actress. I'm not trying to get paid or anything. I just i want to see how many times I can get killed, that's all. I want the next and the next killed, every killed to get bruwed more and more brutal. So I've been tommy gunned. I got killed with a machete by Brett Wagner. i My face rips off and escaped to hell. I'm in The Dead Place by Michael Pickle. he That that ah was filmed last year. It should be done in August and he'll have it released after that. But that starts David Howard Thornton too and Bill Oberst.
00:20:00
littlehopsofhorrors
Nice. Okay. Yeah. So ah are you going to put together like a horror resume of this is how many different ways I've been killed so far. Can you please give me something unique?
00:20:07
kerry
Probably.
00:20:08
littlehopsofhorrors
I don't want to be killed the same way twice.

ja Pretty soon you're gonna have your own damn table at these conventions and you're not gonna have to pay for admission anymore. That's cool. um So I'm gonna throw this out there. If if you get the chance to talk to Dave, David, or Damien, okay, I have one idea for the Terrifier franchise. Okay, so we don't know when this is going to end, right? I don't know if he's ending at four or five, but another podcast host and I were kind of bullshit in the one day about Terrifier. And we thought that it'd be really funny if they just did. Terrifier does all the holidays, right?

So he's doing Christmas now, but then like imagine Arthur clown as the Easter bunny or like a leprechaun or whatever. And you just, and then that that, that's it. Once you covered all the holidays, then you can be done. But I think it's just endless possibilities for that.
00:21:11
kerry
Yeah.
00:21:13
littlehopsofhorrors
And they, I mean, Damien, if you ever hear this, you know, just remember that that this guy said it and then just like, come like shake my hand someday or whatever. That's all.
00:21:21
littlehopsofhorrors

I would love to watch him just you know kill the Easter Bunny and just ah you know ah kill baby New Year.
00:21:28
littlehopsofhorrors
Right. Imagine how how creative the kill would have to be to kill somebody with an Easter egg. I'm sure Damien could figure it out. But Kerry, this was a lot of fun. Thank you again for coming on. Like I said, nice, short, and easy. Do you have anything you want to say before we go?
00:21:43
kerry
Um, not really. It was fun. I liked it. It was great.
00:21:48
littlehopsofhorrors

And ah yeah, stay tuned for next week's whatever review it is. We'll catch you on the next one. See you later.
