Introduction and Episode Welcome

00:00:08
Speaker
Well, hello and welcome to this week's episode of the Purple Door Podcast. A friend's rewatch pod. I'm one of your hosts, Alistair, alongside D&D. How are you today? I'm doing awesome,

Cancelled Camping Plans

00:00:19
Speaker
Al. um Yeah, except that it's so cold and it's going to get really way colder. It is. we were supposed to go camping tonight, but the friends we were going with, you know, felt little cold. Kate wouldn't have gone. No. yeah It's supposed to get down like well below freezing tonight. It is. It is. So we're rescheduling that. No camping for us. We've had the fireplace on since 7 a.m.
00:00:46
Speaker
It's going to be a cozy day at home, i think. Good. Excellent. yeah Excellent.

Evening Party Plans

00:00:51
Speaker
And you are off to play bunco. Very exciting. amim That is very exciting. Going to my best friend's house and... I will be driving the party car.
00:01:01
Speaker
it. I will tell you what I told you off air. Yes. But it is the party car. It's the party car. I love it. Well, speaking of exciting things, we are changing up the bamboozled format for the better.

Bamboozled Segment Update

00:01:16
Speaker
And I'm very excited about this.
00:01:19
Speaker
um Oh, you were going to say something. Well, I probably should have asked you this before we got started. Well, let's go now. Because, okay, I did not check my email this morning.
00:01:31
Speaker
oh okay, but Kate would have would have given me a heads up because I sent her six questions in case we had a repeat. I believe that we both had the same first question.
00:01:44
Speaker
Okay. So I did six too, so we had an alternate Okay. All right. Cool. I believe. so we'll tell listeners. And we're good on difficult. Yes. Go ahead. Fill everybody in. then I will ask my questions. Perfect. Yes. So we decided that we would make this a little more competitive. So every week, Dee and I are going to have five questions that Kate, my my darling wife, is going to double check to make sure. Woo-hoo! Shout out to Kate. Make sure we don't have the same questions.
00:02:17
Speaker
We both came up with an alternate question because we did this week have one identical question. And we're going to keep score. We're going to do best of five questions. And we have 16 episodes left this season, including today. And we are going to compete for... Drumroll...

Geller Cup Competition Introduction

00:02:40
Speaker
The Geller Cup, the purple doll version of the Geller Cup, which your better half is going to help assemble. Both of you are. Yes. He'll do the sort of fundamentals of getting the troll doll and the and the bit of wood, and then you are going to take it to the next level with your artistic skills. Ha!
00:02:58
Speaker
And then we didn't really discuss this, but I suppose the winner of season three will keep it until the end of season four proudly. And then it will be either kept or reassigned.
00:03:11
Speaker
I love that. This is a great idea. It's a great idea. We are kind of semi-borrowing it from, again, our friends over the We're Listening Fraser podcast. They do something similar, and it's a lot of fun. Woo, Steve. Shout out to Steve. And we will say that they you know they've been going for years. They're almost finished. They're season 10, I think. That's crazy. The listeners, as they are here, if you're listening and you want to contribute a question,
00:03:38
Speaker
Just reach out. Reach out to us on social media and send us your ideas for questions for each episode. We would love that. Yes. Yes. So you had a question or did I answer your question?
00:03:53
Speaker
Oh, okay. That was, so our first question was the same. I believe so. Was there three answers for your first question? Yes, that's it. Who are the three people that died because Phoebe went to the dentist? Yes, I had a feeling as I wrote that down, that would be a difficult question. did too! And that's why I put six.
00:04:13
Speaker
Yep, yep, that's we we are cut from the same cloth. That is exactly what did. I love it. But I like the idea of

Season 3 Episode 8 Overview

00:04:21
Speaker
this format. Do you want to get stuck right in Oh, well, we are talking about, I should say, the one with the giant poking device. Season 3, episode 8 of the giant poking device. Do you want to get stuck right into our first competitive camposal? Yeah, I All right. So I suppose we should alternate who starts every week.
00:04:43
Speaker
Yes. Why don't you start this week and then try and help me remember next week that you started because I'll forget. Okay. I'll go ahead and put it in my notes for next week. There you go. There you go. All right, Al.
00:04:54
Speaker
So when we first talked to Gunther in this episode, because, you know, Ross has everything.

Friends Trivia Game

00:05:01
Speaker
Yes. er What's on Gunther's tie? I cannot believe you asked this because...
00:05:08
Speaker
that He's wearing the backstory. I noticed what he was wearing on his tie that I didn't write it down. And then he has another very distinguishable tie on later on, which is baseballs.
00:05:21
Speaker
And I remember that. And it's an animal. The first one is an animal, I think. So I'm going with dogs. That is correct, Al. Yes, all right. Nice job. One, one nothing. All right.
00:05:36
Speaker
That was a semi, I remembered it was a kind of animal, so, all right. See, now I'm nervous. yeah Yeah. There's so much writing on this. There is of pressure now. All right.
00:05:49
Speaker
Oh, here's a question. Sorry, it's not a bad puzzle question. Are you me off track right now, sir? You know what? I will ask you after my question. That's fair. That's fair. My first question for you, and I'm going to the end of the episode to try and throw you off here.
00:06:04
Speaker
Oh, no! Yeah. I had gotten used to you going in time order. Yeah, we're going to mix this up. What does Phoebe sit on the counter before she duets with Chandler?
00:06:16
Speaker
Is it her purse? It is not. I'll give you another guess. But she just comes in, puts something down, and then they start singing. I know. And it's so sweet. It's very sweet.
00:06:32
Speaker
What could it be? and um Because...
00:06:41
Speaker
Let's see. Dee's feeling the pressure. I am. is it? Yes. Oh, my God. A little hint, it's a very typical item for the boys' apartment.
00:06:54
Speaker
Is it the cookie jar? It is not. It's a pizza. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Okay. She comes in, sits a pizza down. Oh, my God. I am not off to a good start, Al. It's quite all right. Quite all right. Now, I'm going to say to you, I'm going to make a commitment to myself that if you ask a question, i am not going to look at my notes.
00:07:17
Speaker
I'm going to try and do you know, which I don't know if that's... I'm not holding you to that, but I think... You can. If you ask me a question I don't remember, I'm not going to fumble through my notes to see if I've got it. I'm going to just try and go by memory.
00:07:30
Speaker
Okay. with i i will um I will follow that as well. All right. About that. All right. Okay. yeah My question for you. No, you just asked me. Of course I did. See, I'm off too. Your question for me. All right. Okay.
00:07:48
Speaker
um What is the giant poking device made out of? That is made out of... Are you just looking for one item?
00:08:00
Speaker
Okay. Chopsticks. Very good. Excellent. i was just trying to think, was there something else in there? But i remember Joey going to get all the chopsticks they've been saving. All right. This is your chance to to help get to catch back up. Oh, my God. What new item did Ugly Naked Guy get?
00:08:21
Speaker
In this episode, it wasn't a Thighmaster. It was not. He got something else. They kind say right the beginning, oh, ugly naked guy got a... And a little hint, we do see it later on.
00:08:36
Speaker
Is it the hammock? It's the hammock. I think it's Joey says, ugly naked guy got a hammock. Oh, okay. I missed that completely. But I sure did notice whenever I was counting pokes yeah that he was laying in a, that's so funny because that would explain why he hasn't moved in a day. Indeed. He's enjoying the hammock. ah Oh man, and I do love a hammock. that One of my questions for you later on, so don't answer yet, is when was the last time you were in a hammock? Okay. Yeah.
00:09:11
Speaker
I look forward to hearing your answer. All right. What you got for me?
00:09:18
Speaker
don't know. Why did Ross have to leave and leave Ben and go to work? That is because somebody...
00:09:32
Speaker
scored out like some kids it said homo sapiens so and they scored out sapien and they reconfigured the the homo sapiens
00:09:42
Speaker
is that right all right I mean, I'm sorry. I mean, good job, Al. Thanks, Dee.
00:09:54
Speaker
All right. Sorry. You've got this. And you know I've just realized I've got another question for you, but I'm not going to do that to you now. I'm going to ask you your third question, which is, what is the name of the stuffed animal whose hat they put on Ben?
00:10:09
Speaker
Oh, Rainy Day Bear. is You got three for three words there. Rainy Day Bear. All right. yeah
00:10:20
Speaker
All right. What color the dinosaur that Ross is holding when he starts messing with Monica? About bonking. I couldn't have told you he was holding a dinosaur, to be honest.
00:10:35
Speaker
When you see pictures of dinosaurs, well, I'd say they're usually green, but that doesn't feel like a kid's toy. I'm going to go with red. Yellow. oh All right.
00:10:45
Speaker
Thank you for that, Al. You're welcome. I'm just saying, the last question doesn't even matter. That's right. Well, this is this you can draw a level here.
00:10:57
Speaker
You can draw a level. What two letters does Ross say Ben is missing from the alphabet song? Oh, and it's like they just fell out.
00:11:09
Speaker
Is it E and F? It is exactly E and F. if You have drawn level. You have drawn level. We're both three at a four. i oh Okay. um
00:11:23
Speaker
All right. What? Oh. You're right. Oh, because I feel like you're going to get this one. Okay. All right. What are the four suggestions that Joey makes for Ross to give Janice instead of Pearl's?
00:11:41
Speaker
See, and this is where my integrity is going to have to remain resolute because one of the suggestions, I'm not sure what he says. Okay, so there's four. There's four total, right? There's four. He says three, one right after the other, and then they talk for a second, and then he goes, oh, or she'll never buy that for herself. Okay.
00:12:04
Speaker
I think I know two, which is not enough. So I know the one is gum because Chandler says hubba-bubba-birthday, which I just love that line. Yes. There's this thing, barium enema or something. I don't know what that is. a barium enema, yes. Yeah, which ill if when we get to that, if you remember, do you know what that is? Mm-hmm. Okay, I've got no idea. Okay, I'm going to have to guess the last two.
00:12:32
Speaker
card and flowers. Flowers, candy, gum. Oh, I should have. get her flowers, get her candy, gu And then they talk about the gum and then he's like, ooh, or barium enema. She'll never get herself that. Right. She would never. Right. There's a reason. I'm guessing.
00:12:51
Speaker
Yeah. Well, see, I started strong and then floundered at the end so that you could win it with this question. No, I can't. I've only gotten two right. I think you've got three right now. You got, you didn't know the pizza, but then you knew the hammock, Rainy Day Bear, and E&F. You can't give me the hammock.
00:13:11
Speaker
I'm sorry. You had to give me a hint, like a big hint. All right. Well, okay. I wouldn't feel good about that. Okay. Well, it's all we got to feel good. we get It's got to feel good. I'm just saying integrity reigns here at the Purple Door podcast. It does. It does indeed. Integrity reigns.
00:13:29
Speaker
Yes. We're not messing around. We're playing by the rules. All right. I'm going to be honest. I feel this is a tough question. But we'll see. It passed it it went through the Kate filter.
00:13:41
Speaker
What's the first name of the Mattress King? And I will give you a hint. Gary. Yo, you didn't even need a hint. Look at you go. Gary. Nicely done. Because I run these questions by Kate, and that was one of the tougher ones. But Gary, it is. It is Gary.
00:13:58
Speaker
Well, we have tied. God, Janet sucks. She does. Uh... and ah We'll get into Janice and her behavior here. now Now, here's a question for you before we go any further, because I'll forget.
00:14:13
Speaker
Should we score this? Like, now it's a tie today, so nobody won. But, like, if I had won... It wasn't a tie! Did we not get three? you got three? do we get three each?
00:14:26
Speaker
Because you were two. You got... Lisa, you definitely got Rainy Day Bear, ENF. This is so hard. Where's Kate? We need an adjudicator. You got Rainy Day Bear, ENF, and you got the last question. Right.
00:14:42
Speaker
And you got Gunther's tie. Why Ross had to leave. Yep. um
00:14:51
Speaker
Oh. I think I got the last two wrong. Yep. Wow. I didn't know the gifts. And then what was the other one you asked me? um ah the color of Ben's dinosaur. I got that. I said red.
00:15:04
Speaker
or yell why I said the wrong answer. Yeah, you guessed red. I got a three out of five for both of us. Huh. Yeah. So we tied?
00:15:15
Speaker
We tied. Maybe next week we'll have to have a bonus question, but my thought for was... wait. What were the three that I got? I got Gary. i knew that one already. You got Gary, you got E&F, and you got Rainy Day Bear.
00:15:27
Speaker
E&F. ah E and F, the two letters that Ben was missing. Oh, E and F. E and F, yes. And and then which one? E and F, Rainy Day Bear, Gary.
00:15:41
Speaker
Wow. Okay. yeah So I missed the first two and you missed the last two. Yes. Huh. Which, funnily enough, seems to happen.
00:15:52
Speaker
Like when we've had our guests on who've done trivia, I tend to start off a little stronger and then you roar back and take the title. That's happened couple of times. It's because I get nervous, right? Yeah. And say, whoa. My question for you is...
00:16:06
Speaker
Are we going to count this like every week one of us wins? Obviously, this was a tie. So it's like one nothing one week. And then if you win the next week, one each. Or do we actually just count the questions and the current score is

Scoring Trivia Game Fairness

00:16:18
Speaker
three each? What do you think?
00:16:20
Speaker
No. be it Okay. Get too complicated. Well, and not just that, but like this week. it it would It wouldn't matter because if it it's a tie, it's a ti tie. Okay, so let's just go with this week's a tie. Maybe next week we'll have to come up with an extra question. Yeah, because if I have a terrible week and I only get one right or none right. Right. And then, you know, he can't come back from that. Like, and mean, right can. Right, that wouldn't be right. Yeah, so no, I think it's just week by week. Okay, I like it. That's that's what about my gut was. the best thought I would thought I would check. All right, I like it. We're going to polish this section off, and next week, five questions each. It's going to be awesome.
00:17:05
Speaker
I'm excited. All right. oh So are you keeping track? I am indeed. I have my paper here, and i have a little chart for bamboozled. Okay. um I am going to keep track of that, so I'm just as it's going to write down that this was a tie.
00:17:23
Speaker
so we So if I go, why do we only have 15 winners when we did this for 16 weeks? It's because one was at at least one will be a tie. Okay. All right. I like it. Well, let's get stuck into this episode.

Dentist Experiences

00:17:37
Speaker
Rachel, we're in the girls' apartment. Rachel's making brownies and Phoebe has hurt her tooth. um She needs to go to the dentist, but doesn't want to because somebody dies every time she goes to the dentist.
00:17:50
Speaker
I do love this line here. You know, she flosses to save lives. You know? Yeah. How do you feel about the dentist? On a scale of like zero, like you love it and 10 is the worst nightmare. How do you feel?
00:18:03
Speaker
Zero. Zero. Good you. I love going to the dentist. However, i was like I feel like I need to preface that with, I mean, there are things that are gross, like whenever you have to do the x-rays and then it makes you gag and you go like...
00:18:19
Speaker
Right. But, but I've also, knocking on the wood, I've never had a cavity. Look at you go. So I've not ever had to deal with like cavities or root canals or any of those things. Right. So I feel like um the one time, okay, so I have sealants on my teeth. I actually think I have sealants again, but I had sealants put on whenever I was like 13 or something. And one of them came off whenever I was in my 20s because I was teaching.
00:18:54
Speaker
Right. and I went in. I thought my tooth had broken. Yikes. Oh, my God. So I went in and My blood pressure was like sky high. And they were like, why is this like 24-year-old have such high or high blood pressure? And she's freaking out and and everything else. And then they look and they were like.
00:19:17
Speaker
nothing's wrong with your tooth. And like, are you feeling any pain? And I was like, no, but there was a chunk, a chunk. And so she's like, she's like, did you have sealants on your teeth? And i was like, don't know. Let me call my mom.
00:19:32
Speaker
And right from yeah as she is then the dentist was like, yeah, I think the last one must have come off and you caught it. And I said, oh. So that was the most tragic thing. And that was over 20 years ago. so i love going every six months and getting my teeth clean. Look at you go. Yeah, it's great.
00:19:53
Speaker
What about you? That's exciting. You know what? Not bad. I'm probably middle of the road, but not maybe for the reasons you would normally think. So I had a couple of fillings as a teenager and then none into my 20s. And then honestly, i went a while without going to the dentist.
00:20:12
Speaker
A couple of years, you know, prop but probably three or four years. I don't know exactly. And then, you know, then the longer you wait, the worse you think it's going to be. Right, of course. And then got a recommendation of a good dentist, went to the dentist, and they said, you know, we need to we're going to redo the fillings you had as a teenager.
00:20:30
Speaker
Like, instead of whatever material they used, we're going to use this other material. You know, it's much much better now. So they redid that. That was it. Like, I didn't have any new cavities or anything like that.
00:20:42
Speaker
um They did the deep cleaning and they did all that. the The thing I dislike about the dentist is if you go to the doctor, you know what it's going to cost. Like, you know your co-pay, you know.
00:20:56
Speaker
Yeah. So we also have a co-pay for the dentist. It's not much. It's fine. Went in and then they said, all right, we're going to redo these couple of things. You know, the insurance will cover it because they need to be redone.
00:21:09
Speaker
And what I've discovered is that that is not always the case because I got a bill for $500 from the dentist two months later. And i called the dentist and I must say, our dentist is fantastic.
00:21:26
Speaker
And they handled this situation well. And well, sort of. What they said was, look, we will die on this hill. You needed to have those things replaced. I'm a dentist. I'm a professional. I've done this a long time. You needed to have them replaced.
00:21:41
Speaker
and But the the dentists who represent the insurance company are saying you don't. So they are quite simply refusing to pay. um We've filed it three times. All three of them say you did not need it done.
00:21:56
Speaker
Me as a dentist, I'm... And basically they were saying because they weren't falling out, they didn't break, they didn't whatever, so you didn't need it done. Right, it wasn't an emergency. It was an emergency. Because heaven forbid any pre... Yeah.
00:22:11
Speaker
Yeah, he and he's like, as a dentist, those things were going to fall out at some point and it would cost more, so I'm just going to knock him out now and put in the new upgraded stuff.
00:22:22
Speaker
And so he said, I'm sorry. You know, it's part of the thing is once in a while you have to cover things that we think insurance will and they don't. So we did. We paid that. And that's what I don't like about the dentist as a whole. I love our dentist, but you never quite know like what they're going to cover or what they're not. so Right. You don't ever know exactly. Now, but I will say, orthodontists, you know yeah exactly how much it's going to cost. You don't know how long the treatment's going to last, but you do know. Mm-hmm.
00:22:55
Speaker
But yeah, i whenever money starts getting involved, things get sideways. Yeah, things get icky. And I just, i like the way our dentist handled it. Little shout out to the Denton Dental Group. And they have 7 a.m. appointments, which I'm a big fan of.
00:23:11
Speaker
Oh, yeah, that's nice. Because they know that instead of having to take time off of work, I can just go at 7 and... and Be home by eight. yeah Yeah. Yeah, much, much better. So I'm big fan of of places that open and accommodate people who want to get in and out early on. um But Phoebe, she's terrified of going to the dentist, not because of the pain, but...
00:23:36
Speaker
Somebody might die. um Yeah. We'll see. Or Albino Bob, her cowboy friend. That's right. I just love that it's not just Albino Bob. It's Albino Bob, her cowboy friend. Yeah. um It just tickles me, that one. Yeah.
00:23:52
Speaker
Yeah. Oh. Yeah, we go to Central Park. Phoebe, she's still in pain. And this carries on directly from the end of last episode because Monica and Joey come in looking for Chandler because Joey saw Janice kissing her ex-husband, the Mattress King, Gary.
00:24:09
Speaker
And he doesn't want to tell Chandler, but yeah mean he knows

Joey's Dilemma with Chandler

00:24:13
Speaker
he has to. Joey's too good of a guy. Okay, yes, absolutely. And he knows. But what's wild to me is if if you truly didn't want to tell Chandler, why did you tell everybody else? Right, right. You know, like, no.
00:24:30
Speaker
Don't tell a soul or tell everyone on Chandler. or Right. just tell Chandler, even. Right. You know, well, Monica was there with him. That's true. so Monica would know.
00:24:41
Speaker
But. Yeah. So silly. But okay. And whenever they walk in and um it's Chandler here and Ross checks his pockets. Yeah. no success And that cracked up because I was like, that was funny.
00:25:02
Speaker
it It really, it was a good moment. Yeah, very quick thinking on Ross's part. there It was very funny. um Yeah, Joey knows. Joey knows deep down he has to tell Chandler, as he ends up doing.
00:25:15
Speaker
um We go over to the girl's apartment. Ugly naked guy is in his hammock at this point. We talked about this during Bamboozled very briefly, but when was the last time you were in a hammock?
00:25:28
Speaker
Um... So I was about to say, like, Christina at her house, she ah she has this beautiful patio, like a patio like that you walk out on. And she used to have, like, hammock chairs.
00:25:43
Speaker
Yes. And, like, it was so great. But actually, it was last summer. And we were on vacation. And there was a hammock out between the two trees.
00:25:54
Speaker
Very nice. Very relaxing, I find. A good hammock. As long as you don't have sons. Ah. Because sons enjoy messing with their mom, this especially if she has the nerve to look like she's relaxed. How dare you? How dare you? Yes. No, which is fun and ridiculous and all the wonderful things. Things you'll look back on and smile. yeah Oh, yeah. Yeah. But there's this hammock chair that I really want to get. And it's been in my Amazon cart literally for two years now. what it's And it's not crazy expensive. It's like 150 bucks, you know, but it just is something I would really like. But it's really nice. It has like a little umbrella. It's a freestanding. It comes with a big like a stand and then it comes out and out like that. and it's got like the little umbrella on top.
00:26:57
Speaker
And then it's a hammock, but not like the woven. you Right. I think can picture it. It doesn't have the holes. Yeah. but it's And I just, I'm like, I don't know if I would really ever sit in it and really enjoy it and relax and do all the things. But it sure is a nice $150 item I like to stare at. It does look pretty nice. I've got the teal one. It's so pretty. don't know. Whatever. i like it. We all have a hammock? I it.
00:27:25
Speaker
So we've got one that we keep out in the summer, like by the, you know, on our patio and by the the pool out there. um But then like, I've got one that I take camping that I just latch onto some trees whenever out there camping. Cause I love it. I like that motion.
00:27:42
Speaker
Yeah. I like the lying down. Kate gets motion sickness. So cannot do a hammock at all. ah Any swaying motion, any movement like that. She is, she's out.
00:27:55
Speaker
um But yeah, I like a good hammock out there in the woods. Like I said, strap it to a couple of trees and and I'm good for a couple hours in there. Nice. Yeah, I enjoy that. um This remonarchist or Phoebe is heading out to

Ross and Museum Vandalism

00:28:10
Speaker
the dentist. She's going to go. But Ross comes in as disgusting, bamboozled, because there's been some...
00:28:16
Speaker
Some, not graffiti, well, maybe some graffiti, but some vandalism of sorts at the museum. um He defaults to asking Monica to watch Ben.
00:28:27
Speaker
Um... i was trying I feel like it's a solid choice. Yeah. I mean, it sure doesn't work out super great. But like I don't judge Ross for that.
00:28:42
Speaker
No, I think it's a default is his very well-organized, put-together. And you know there's nothing wrong with that. just saying ants are great babysitters indeed teas indeed rock solid um it's a little like it's one of those things that's maybe borderline for whether they would do this joke in 2026 i do love joey's delivery of the homo sapiens oh the homo sapiens okay and ah whenever i watch that i was like was gonna want to say would we Would we? would we i think it's funny and it's Joey's delivery, the genuine curiosity. Yes. You can tell he's really thought about it. you know
00:29:24
Speaker
Which is so crazy because it's like, honey. Right. Oh, jewely oh Joey. Like, that's what you think that meant. Yeah. But Monica and Rachel end up looking after Ben together and they're playing the aeroplane game.

Monica and Rachel Panic

00:29:40
Speaker
And this is where Ben bangs his head on the the beam going across the the roof. um Yeah. outll I don't like the storyline. I don't know. We'll get into this, I guess, when we we talk about our ratings. But, you know, the storyline for me is a little eh.
00:30:00
Speaker
um But Monica and Rachel both kind of freak out about his head and this is where they get Rainy Day Bears hat. um and Because they think that's going to solve the problem.
00:30:12
Speaker
By just sticking a hat on his head. Which is so stupid. So stupid. Yeah. like And it's not a bit like kids bump their heads, as Ross says later on. Like, it's not a big deal.
00:30:24
Speaker
um So I know Monica's very protective and likes things perfect, so doesn't do well when things go off track. But it's it's a bit ridiculous. It's a bit ridiculous, I think.
00:30:36
Speaker
Yes. Yes. I mean, I was thinking about, all right, when my kids were little, if they bumped their head playing a game, that's, I mean, nothing like that happens. And the bump came out, which is a good thing, right? Medically speaking, you want the bump. Yes. it it None of that is a big deal at all.
00:30:57
Speaker
Right. But i get the panic and the, oh my God, because neither one of them have kids, so they don't know that.
00:31:08
Speaker
That's true. That's true. But the way that we handled the situation in the panic, it was not right. Right. But um I get that, and you know the panic, because how often do you get a bump on your head? I feel like I probably- I probably get bumps on my head more often than typical adults, I feel. um But, um you know, yeah you hear, you know, you have to always be so careful with the baby because of their skull. And I feel like these are things that Monica would know.
00:31:43
Speaker
Right. She's going to do her research. Yes. and so she's going to know like a baby's skull's not closed and oh my God. And if we've hit it and it can do brain damage and I can i can i can get that.
00:31:55
Speaker
I can totally understand that. But I don't know why the answer was to cover it with a hat instead of put ice on it. Right. Right. I feel like they should also know that. You would think so. You would think so. We end up going out to the street. This is where Joey and Chandler end up outside their jewelry store, I guess. um He's thinking about getting Janice some pearls.
00:32:19
Speaker
Um... I was going to make this a question. What would Joey like as a gift? A mountain bike. A mountain bike, which I feel like that's coming. So that came up.
00:32:30
Speaker
There's a time that I swear Ross was reading a cycling magazine. Yes, that was earlier because that was one of your questions that I got wrong. So it's like cycling occasionally comes up, yet nobody seems to own a bike or ever ride a bike. And yet, all, except for Phoebe. Okay, thank you. Yes, Phoebe and her bike. And obviously, Ross knows how to ride a bike. But yeah, nobody rides a bike around.
00:32:57
Speaker
Why would you be riding a mountain bike in the city? That would be crazy. Right. but But maybe it is like... um Maybe it's kind of like a ah kayak.
00:33:08
Speaker
I want a kayak. I want a kayak so bad. i think it would be so fun to have a kayak. I love kayaking every time i go yeah yeahp But do I need a kayak? Because how often am I really going to load it up on my vehicle and take it to the body of water and put it in?
00:33:25
Speaker
Isn't it just easier to just borrow or rent like I've been doing? Is it worth it money-wise, right? It probably is, but I do own a kayak.
00:33:37
Speaker
Oh! Now I know who to borrow one from. it's a nice one because I was on Facebook Marketplace. Because I'm like you. enjoy kayaking, but, you know, just rent one from places. But this one was very nice kayak. Somebody spent probably $1,000 it, and it had all โ€“ ah You know, the accessories, the this, the that, the other. yeah And they, it was a really nice guy, husband and wife, but spoke to the the husband more.
00:34:04
Speaker
I think he had had hip surgery or shoulder surgery something that was like, he's not going to be able to use it for a long time. So he's like, I'm just going to sell it for 200, get rid of it in space.
00:34:15
Speaker
Wow. That wasn't in the budget at the time, but it was like, all right, I need to jump on this deal. Yeah. And then I got a kayak rack for the top of my car.
00:34:27
Speaker
So it's easy just to slide it up there um and take up to Lake Ray Roberts, which I've done a few times. Yeah. Yeah. Because there's a great place to go kayaking there.
00:34:38
Speaker
Right the road. And it's so easy to just plop it in right there. um But, yeah, I don't know. Well, see maybe Facebook Marketplace is what I need to just โ€“ Keeping an eye out. Yeah, so if you need to borrow one, you just let me know. It's right here.
00:34:56
Speaker
a Well, thanks, Al. Absolutely. Anytime. But this is where Joey, and you see, my integrity came through today. Pat myself on the back. Joey suggests flowers, candy, and gum. It was in my notes. yeah um Not patting myself on the back too too hard. As you Integrity is important, Al. It is. It's the standard we hold ourselves to here at the Purple Door Podcast. yeah What in the world is a barium enema? I don't even know if it's one word or two.
00:35:28
Speaker
what it Okay. So it's similar to what you know an enema is, but if you have the barium in it, that's what it lights up. of Whenever you take an x-ray, it'll light everything up like in your intestines.
00:35:45
Speaker
Oh. And so it's kind of like a colonoscopy, but, right you know, it's it's like that. Okay. I did not know. Yeah. I mean, I literally, you could have you could have told me anything and I would have believed you at that point. I had no idea. Yeah. Well, the barium is what lights up your insides whenever they have to like check to make sure that everything's okay. So it's not Barry like Rachel's ex-fiance, Barry, which I've written down. No, Barry. No, Barry him. Okay, that makes little more science-y sense.
00:36:16
Speaker
Yeah. All right. But this is where Joey ends up telling Chandler, but tell me. And this is another, another time that hubba Bubba has been mentioned.

Gift Suggestions Discussion

00:36:25
Speaker
Yeah. I did think we've got bubble yum. We've got hubba Bubba. Yeah. Okay.
00:36:31
Speaker
And in my, in my notes, so I have like things to do, like things that I don't want to forget, but like, maybe I'm not going to get done like today, but in my list of things, it's teach Al how to blow a bubble. Okay. This, you know what, when I come up and with the kayak, you'll borrow the kayak, you'll teach me to blow bubble.
00:36:52
Speaker
anne And you'll teach me how to juggle. Yes, that's also on the list. ah Yeah, and at some point I'll tell you all about my juggling, my juggling um just escapades. And George, George can juggle.
00:37:07
Speaker
um And I say he can juggle. um I don't have my juggling balls currently because I did loan them to a friend that was at, um, that was at my seasonal job because I took them and some toys and things like that for everybody, um, just to play with, to, you know, because as our things, like we needed things to do to interact with people and whatnot. And, um,
00:37:36
Speaker
And these juggling balls, I have like my little book that I've been reading for over a year and trying to practice and trying to figure out. And then these people, they just naturally learn how to juggle. They're like, oh, yeah, that makes sense. And then they're doing it. And I was like, oh, my God. And there was this one guy who literally learned how to do it very well in one day.
00:38:01
Speaker
That's pretty incredible. One shift. One shift. And I was like, oh my gosh. And so I was with him that whole shift. And so I'm watching him learning how to do it. Right. And so then George picks up socks the other day. That makes perfect sense. I can tell somebody.
00:38:19
Speaker
How to juggle. I can tell them, oh, you need to, you know, speed up that one and all that. I can't do it, though. And that's very frustrating. So I'm watching George with these socks and I'm like, oh, my God, you could learn this literally in 15 minutes.
00:38:39
Speaker
Right. Because he looks just like that guy. He's just got that dexterity or coordination. But I want to so bad. Maybe we should have an annual Purple Door Podcast day where we do all of the things that we say we need to do throughout the year. The things that are on my list. On your list. All right, done.
00:39:00
Speaker
Yes. Alan D's Day of Fun. Alan D's Day of Fun. I'm in. Yes. I'm in. All right.
00:39:09
Speaker
put that on my list right yeah i mean we both have gifts for each other like from christmas that we still um you know let's discuss about how many times i've seen you since july and i still have y'all stuff from italy right sitting in a bag but now with lenny's christmas presents yeah and ah just ah i don't know it's yeah one day We're going to get this. um Well, while you're putting that on the list, this is where Joey does tell Chandler that he saw Janice kissing her ex-husband. Chandler's in a bit of denial, but you can tell. he you know Joey's not going to lie and make that up.
00:39:50
Speaker
um We go over to the girls' apartment. this is Ben is now wearing the whole ensemble. um All of Rainy Day Bear's attire.
00:40:02
Speaker
um which it just It goes from bed to watch, this storyline. And then Phoebe comes in and this is where she starts calling everyone. a little throwback to old tech because she's using the phone and obviously it's going to cost money to call her friends.
00:40:19
Speaker
Yes. Because, you know, Monica says, sure, we have no money. So even like non-long distance calls, I wonder, you know, what she's making. You know, I don't know if it's local or long distance or what she's doing. But um yeah, not really something you think about now. If you need to borrow somebody's phone, there's the cost per minute.
00:40:38
Speaker
Right. Golly. Because, okay, now I'm trying to think. Is there something... Pause. Pause. Okay, I will hit the pause button. Sorry, there we go. We're pausing.
00:40:52
Speaker
All right, I have hit resume. My darling wife was in the shower and the Alexa was on and it was bleeding through our audio. So I've just run through and turned that down. So there we go. um This is where Ben starts saying, Monica, bang.
00:41:06
Speaker
Yeah, it is. you know He's ratting out Aunt Monica and Monica and Rachel figured the solution is to start banging their own heads. Yes. this is Like, they're... What's happening here? Like, I know the panicking. Well, and it's so exciting, right? Because i you kind of get the picture that Ben hasn't said Monica either ever yes or she is not very often at all, right? You kind of get that. And then...
00:41:36
Speaker
We got to follow it up with bang. That's right. this Which, I mean, could mean a number of different things. And if they wouldn't have drawn such big attention to it, as you know, with but I mean, we'll forgive that because why would they know this? But if you don't draw a whole lot of attention to it, typically it'll just pass.
00:41:59
Speaker
Right. You know? Yeah. But they they go into panic panic mode and it's just... I don't know. Not their finest moment. Yes.
00:42:11
Speaker
We head back over to the boys' apartment. I was going to go back and count um but to see. No, is this? Maybe I've got the wrong scene. Yeah, I've got the wrong scene. Never mind. We'll talk about something later. Are you going count the pokes? Because I did.
00:42:29
Speaker
I was going to count the amount darts Chandler threw, but that's in a later scene. Yeah. it's That's after she's gone. After she's gone. Yeah. Cause Janice comes in acting like nothing's wrong. And then she admits kissing her ex in the park. Well, and I was trying to figure out what he was flipping through. If that was a TV guide. look to.
00:42:52
Speaker
Okay. And I was like, I can't tell. Yeah. You know, Janice does admit it pretty quickly what she's been up to. um I think Chandler handles this pretty well. You know, she's starting to panic.
00:43:07
Speaker
He gets her a paper bag and he basically says, you know, you need to choose. Like he doesn't lose his mind. i got Which was great. Yes. Yes. And I'm so irritated with her. Yes. Because, girl,

Chandler's Breakup with Janice

00:43:24
Speaker
come on. Yeah. Her behavior's out of order. Well, and then why are you freaking out like this? Because you got caught?
00:43:31
Speaker
Because you probably should have been freaking out about this prior. You don't get the right freak out. Right. Can't go has the right to freak out. You're going to cause this. But you're not the one who's caught off guard right now.
00:43:44
Speaker
Right. Yeah, you don't you don't get to. I don't think. But he sure is kind to get her a bag. I'd be like, I'd say I'd be like, I don't know what I would be like. Right, but he is kind.
00:43:57
Speaker
Yeah, he is. Yeah. um But he does upset Phoebe accidentally. Well, no, before that. So, yeah, she panics. And basically, Janice says she's not over her ex. She loves them both.
00:44:09
Speaker
Doesn't really know what she's going to do. That's a that's a tough situation there. The phone rings. Chandler looks at it but doesn't answer. And then Phoebe flies through the door in a panic. Yeah.
00:44:22
Speaker
If you're alive, answer your phone. You answer the phone. Which, yeah, and I don't know. And then it also makes me laugh because um whenever he gives her the bag and she starts breathing into it and everything. Yeah. um The receipt.
00:44:42
Speaker
And then we find out later about the receipt. And I'm like, more that's so funny. It was a great little throwback to choking on the receipt. Yes. um I love that. we I was going to ask you, but just like that perhaps TV guide, I couldn't tell what ice cream they were eating. Because butt we go to the girls' apartment and they're feeding Ben ice cream. And I think...
00:45:05
Speaker
And Joey's eating ice cream and i so laughing. And saw it like, low fat or fat free, but i couldn't tell what it was. Yeah, I think that, and but the label stayed the same no matter what. So that's an improvement from last time we saw eating ice cream. The set designers are on on at this time. um Ross comes in and I think I've just screwed. Oh, you know, before that, I don't know if we've discussed this. Do you have a favorite ice cream?
00:45:34
Speaker
I feel like we have, but I'm not sure. i Okay. So my favorite ice cream changes pretty much on the regular. Okay. Like right now.
00:45:45
Speaker
I don't know. Because i like if if you want to just like blanket vanilla, like vanilla, i will always like always, always, always. But man, like ah some cookies and cream. I'm on board. And there's like whenever I go through like little phases, but it's always going be Bluebell. Or McDonald's soft serve vanilla ice cream. It's good. Never had it. It's good. It's worth it. If you have enough points on your app and you get a free ice cream cone, it's worth it. Very nice. Nice little free treat. i like it. Yeah, it is. But yeah.
00:46:25
Speaker
But I don't like ice cream with nuts. That's gross. Yeah. I don't like peanut butter flavor. That's gross. I agree with both of those assessments. Yeah. um I do like peppermint. Peppermint's good. I'm a big fan of like mint chocolate chip.
00:46:40
Speaker
I do enjoy a mint ice chip. That's Fred's favorite all the time. Well, Fred is wise. All the time. George's chocolate, and then Joseph, he bounces around too. so Yeah. ive I'll ah tell you, I quite like...
00:46:55
Speaker
Cookies and cream, but not for the reason. I'm at the sad station of life where I can't, you know, have a pint of ice cream and not pay for it. Such is life. Such is life. Getting older is awesome. It's It's so good. It's so good. Kate is not an ice cream fan, but she loves the little bits of cookie dough in cookies and cream.
00:47:16
Speaker
Or cookie dough ice cream, rather. I do like that, too. And I don't like them, but she loves them. So I've discovered it's quite good. We, to be honest, rarely have ice cream. But if we do, we get one pint of cookies and cream. And I scoop out all the little cookie dough as I'm eating it, putting it in a bowl for her.
00:47:36
Speaker
that slows me down, you know, so I'm not just sitting there mindlessly eating ice cream watching a movie. It makes me a little more, you know, all right, I can have half or something. Because I'm spending my time scooping them out with her little spoon.
00:47:52
Speaker
That's so sweet. So we end up sharing this. Lady and the Tramp, you know, it's like sharing. ah So I like it because it stops me eating the the pint of ice cream.
00:48:04
Speaker
Yeah. Which is good. Good for the the digestion, I suppose. And Kate gets all little cookie dough bites.

Ross's Reaction to Ben's Outfit

00:48:11
Speaker
so There you go. It's just a win, win, win, win.
00:48:15
Speaker
when It's a win across the board. Joey spots, well, Phoebe's very excited. She spots ugly, or she thinks everyone's alive. And then Joey spots ugly naked guy. Oh, but what did i miss? Dang. Okay. Whenever Ross sees Ben in the outfit.
00:48:36
Speaker
what i What I'd say, i didn't write that down, but I know he says something funny. like Yeah, he does. What does he say? Wailing. Wailing. He looks like the Gorton's fisherman. Yes, on the box of Yes.
00:48:52
Speaker
Yes, I knew it was something, but I'm glad you remembered that. That made me laugh. That was just so... I put that in my notes because that was just a giggle. So glad you did. Because how stupid? Like, why? Why? And Ross knew right away. Why? what are you doing here? That poor bear lost his head for nothing.
00:49:13
Speaker
Yeah. such as It's just such a weird storyline. Yeah. it Joey spots Ugly Naked Guy in his hammock. um I was also going to ask you one of my questions if we've done lots was, this is a little later on in a few scenes, but what is it that stops us from seeing Ugly Naked Guy's face?
00:49:34
Speaker
Is it a lamp? It's not a lamp. What is it? It's a plant in a plant pot. Oh, okay. ons On his windowsill. but um They're not sure if he's dead or alive at this point. So George came in while I was watching this last night. Right. and And he walked in just as they're starting to poke him. And he's like, what is that? What's happening here? And I was like, it's a belly. And he's like, it is? What? It's a belly.
00:50:09
Speaker
Don't worry about it. Don't worry about it. But ah yeah, he's like, he's looking just as complete confusion on his head. What is that? Right. That's fantastic. Well, he'll see them being poked with the giant poking device that Joey fashions. He's got this good idea of going to get all the chopsticks that they save.
00:50:31
Speaker
Chandler's playing darts rather aggressively. He misses the board several times. yeah And he gets progressively harder and harder, which is throw. Now I'll need to next year in particular. So I enjoy a bit darts and I actually watched the darts world championship, which I do most years, but this year, the time it was on, is it was, it's always in London.
00:50:57
Speaker
And it was, it's just finished a couple of weeks ago. Kate was really getting into it. Cause it's not just, art I'll need to, people in the UK will know this cause it's there, but people here might not, but it's an event. People go, there's just thousands of people sitting at tables drinking and and most people dress up.
00:51:17
Speaker
So in comes a group of guys all dressed as bananas. all dressed oh dress up like that oh yeah like costumes oh fun they're singing and chanting and it's just a party atmosphere the darts itself is just ah a sort side event i'll find some stuff for you and said it is a thing and kate was like is that she would wake up in the morning come out is the darts on You know, she was getting into it. It's a lot of fun. And I often think I'd love to have a dartboard.
00:51:50
Speaker
I don't know really where to put it. Okay. I have thought this on numerous different occasions. Yeah. And we're doing things in the garage always and talking about whatever. But that's one of the things that we want to get in our garage as we're turning it into whatever it is. So. I will come and play darts with you guys on the list. Yeah. going to have to have a round of darts. Yes, darts.
00:52:12
Speaker
Darts. But oh I'm not good at it at all. Okay. yeah i' no I'm mediocre at best. but But it's so fun. And oh my God, if you add in costumes and darts and and a beverage or two, like you just this could be just a really fun time.
00:52:31
Speaker
Yeah, you just wait. I'm going to send, as soon as we're done recording, I'll send you some some good stuff that you'll like. Oh, right. I like it. Joey is playing darts, or Joey, Chandler's playing darts pretty aggressively. He's heartbroken. He asked for Joey's advice.
00:52:45
Speaker
Joey gives very good advice here. Very good advice. Solid advice. Because he's not like, yes you should just break up with her because she's a horrible person. he He handles this very delicately and says he should let her go. And Janice isn't a horrible person. Like, it's not a horrible person thing. It's just... But I i was very irritated and disappointed with the way that... Yes....he handled it all. I agree. She is a good person. she's not a horrible person, and I believe she genuinely does love both of them. I agree. i think her feelings are genuine.
00:53:26
Speaker
um Yeah. Absolutely. Absolutely. We get to kind of one of the funniest scenes, I think, for me in this

Pranking About Ben's Injury

00:53:33
Speaker
episode. Because Ben's asleep and Ross blames Rachel initially, which is the only time i in this episode I really think, that's a bit of a jerk move. Like, he kind of... I don't know if I'm just predisposed to not like Ross, but he seems to blame Rachel. when she And then she's like, actually, it was Monica.
00:53:53
Speaker
um You know, maybe with hindsight, he didn't really just blame her. He was just... you know, she was the first one there. So maybe I'm being unfair. i I don't think you are, but she, they had the whole conversation before, you know, about how she was the one who wanted to watch him. And why are you asking Monica and not me and all of that. Yeah. So his assumption is that Rachel was the one watching.
00:54:19
Speaker
Yeah. and That's true. And so, yeah, I, I don't feel like he's, he kind of, whenever she's like, responding to him like I did and everything was, you know, and I did what I was supposed to do. Like, I don't think he was out of line thinking it was Rachel.
00:54:39
Speaker
Right. Because also the way that it all got handled, I feel like he, it's, it's, I don't know. Do you have a best friend that whenever you are with, or did you growing up or whatever, that you just kind of get stupid, like dumber whenever you're with them?
00:54:58
Speaker
Like, Man, yeah maybe I Maybe I'm that friend. i don't know. right I know I think I might be that friend because I can think of quite a few people that whenever we're together like doing things or whatever later, it's like that probably wasn't the smartest way to handle that. Right. You know? Yeah. But um yeah, so maybe I'm that friend. I don't Right.
00:55:28
Speaker
But I feel like these these two girls, whenever a situation arises or something crazy, it's like, really? But and I don't know. i would Then if I think about, you know, i don't know.
00:55:45
Speaker
I mean, maturity, you know, of course I don't ever do dumb things now. Never. No, God, no. Psych! That never happens.
00:55:55
Speaker
Yeah. um i I don't know. but Yeah, they they don't bring out the best in each other, Rachel and Monica, in this episode. Not in a time of crisis, right? Not all. but I love i love the the joke that Ross plays on Monica.
00:56:14
Speaker
It's brilliant sibling. It's so funny. It's so good. And i love how Rachel has to turn around and she like puts her head on Ross.
00:56:24
Speaker
Yeah. Because you know, she's laughing. That's you Jennifer Aniston breaking. yeah ah It's so good. But then Ross gets a little payback by slamming into the, the, yeah of the pillar. Yeah.
00:56:40
Speaker
it's yeah It's a great sibling rival a rivalry, but just sibling joking. yeah Well, and then whatever Rachel goes, I hope it's still funny when you're in hell. Yes, it's it's so good.
00:56:55
Speaker
We end up over in Central Park. This is where Janice and Chandler break up. and He says that she should go back to Gary. Janice knows he's right, but there's a love there. there's there's a There is a love. And then Chandler panics for a minute, begs her to stay, and steals her shoe. Okay. Now, right before that, there's a line I thought was hysterical that got cut. Yes. And it it was, you know, whenever um she's like, okay, you know, I have to give my marriage another chance. And then he's like, wait, no, no, you you don't. right Right. And then he's like, you don't have, you give your divorce another chance. Yes. Okay. Well, right then she's like, sweetie, you know, you deserve better than half my heart.
00:57:43
Speaker
Oh, heart good poor Chandler. But then Chandler says, okay. No, I'm good with half your heart. I'm half with a quarter of your heart. And he just kind of runs it all the way down to I'm trying of fine with a ventricle.
00:57:58
Speaker
Right. And I just I thought that was so funny. And then I see that that's one of those. Not a lot got cut from this episode. But that was and that was hysterical to me because it it kind of made it make more sense.
00:58:17
Speaker
Yes. And added a little bit to the unhinged, like made it a little more. OK, we're getting progressively more and more unhinged because the the going back and forth about what he needs is is with himself.
00:58:31
Speaker
Like she just said, you deserve better than half my heart. And then he's like, no, no, I'm good with that. And and then it's like he's working himself up, you know, and then she leaves.
00:58:43
Speaker
and And then he grabs her and then, I got your shoe. And I was going to ask you, was it which shoe did he take? I would, let's see. I don't know, but I would have have to guess the way she is facing, it's her right shoe.
00:58:57
Speaker
That would be correct. Just because she's facing the camera, so her right leg would be by the couch. And I was thinking of asking you, what color does Rachel have that in that shoe? Burgundy. Burgundy it is. But I thought that was too easy because it's a great line. Yeah. Yeah. It's ah it's good. um Good old vampire. This is a thought. And have we discussed this? Do we know how Chandler and Janice initially met? Do they ever...
00:59:25
Speaker
Reveal that because he's broken up with her when we first meet her or about to break up with her because he's seeing her. But do we ever hear how they met? Like how they met. No. Originally. I don't think we do.
00:59:36
Speaker
I don't think so. Yeah. yeah She's such a such a great character. um We end up on the balcony. We we have, i think everyone's there except Chandler because he's downstairs with Janice. And they hold the poking device. They managed to poke ugly naked guy.
00:59:52
Speaker
And he's alive. He's alive. Yeah. And we're still poking. We're still poking. Retract the device. Retract the device. um But I'm kind of rushing through that a bit because i I do love this final scene with Chandler, with Phoebe singing. I can't remember what song it is by Lionel Rich. Endless Love by Lionel Rich. Endless Love. Oh, gosh. Yes. So sweet. it's It's so different and like offbeat for the show to have that. um Well, okay, but you got you got that because um and whenever they were breaking up and everything, she was talking about her and Chandler. She was like, and you know, Lionel Richie. They talk about that song. Yes. Because that song. Yeah, that's right. And you remember the song in Happy Gilmore and all? It it's it's a it was a huge hit.
01:00:48
Speaker
like easy listening and and all that and yeah it's just it's a great song and a big song just oh it's that at my house hey tate the dogs the dogs barking. We have a mom and dad's dog here too. Ah, right. Usually it's my house.
01:01:10
Speaker
Yeah, people are starting to get here and so that's all about it. Ah, well yeah, we've got a few minutes so you bunkle. Yeah, we do. I'm trying to think if there's any other... The only thing I've read about this episode I did a quick Google was...
01:01:24
Speaker
that this endless love is not on the album that Chandler is holding. It's a different Lionel Richie album. Okay. I was so curious about that. And I, that popped into my brain, but then I started working on my questions and all

Lionel Richie Album Detail Error

01:01:41
Speaker
that. And I never came back to that. I was curious if it was on that episode or not, or I mean on that album or not.
01:01:48
Speaker
Yeah, apparently it's not. Like, Lionel Rich is one of those people i know i know some of his you know his blockbuster hits but don't know much about, really. Um... But yeah, that's... Shut that door, please.
01:02:01
Speaker
he We... Yes. It's... a We keep it real here at the Powerful Door Podcast. I've turned off Kate's speaker. And you are taking care of... Taking care of business at your house. Sorry. Oh, I thought I muted my microphone whenever did that. No, you did not. That way came straight through.
01:02:18
Speaker
Oh, my God. I'm so sorry. Don't be sorry. God. That's brilliant. It's me. Am I not... Am I not on my microphone? I'm using something else. I don't know. love it. I'm sorry. Don't be sorry. love every bit of it. I love this last scene because it's just different. It's different. They kind of end on a joke where they can't harmonize or whatever, but I just think it's a really cool moment. Well, it's sweet.
01:02:48
Speaker
It's just so sweet. Yeah. Well, let's see. We've got three minutes till you are driving the Bunko Bus. so i would like Party car. Sorry, party car. Party car. Not Bunko Bus. um Who would be your Gunther Central Park of the week this week? okay so...
01:03:07
Speaker
Prior to that and as so that's what I'm going to have to stick with, is because prior to that last scene, because I love that last scene so very, very much. Yes, yes. But I am going to stick with my, for the majority of the episode, it's Joey.
01:03:24
Speaker
It's Joey. Yeah. Because ah he's so sweet and kind, and and then... immature so immature but at the same time mature and caring and he's just a funny character and he kind of had a whole array of awesomeness in this whole episode and i i picked joey Yeah, we see we see the best of Joey, I think, in this, you know, which we see many times, but just his good character shining through. Yeah,
01:04:00
Speaker
yeah i'm I've decided... I'm going for Ross because Ross has, is that, is that one of the dogs? It is. is that Bella? He did not. It is. Bellatrix. Yeah. He did not shut the door all the way. oh dear. Like I told him to. And so the dog opened. The dog opened the door. I like Ross's three lines of where he's looking for Chandler, you know, and the opening scene, the wailing line, and then the walking on one leg joke. For those three moments, I'm going to choose Ross because they're just, just so good.
01:04:36
Speaker
I was trying to think, and I can't think of how we can rate this out. as you know Scale this episode to 10. Bumps. Or bangs. ten 10 bumps of the head. Because 10 barium enemas doesn't seem like a fun time. 10 barium enemas.
01:04:56
Speaker
ah So 10 bumps on the head, 10 something. We'll go with that. How many bumps would you give this episode? would give it 8. ah Strong eight. A strong eight. I like it. The the poking device, ah like that, oh that picture is iconic to me. And it's funny. The thing, ah you know, I'm glad. i don't know. I just, I laughed a lot. It's a good episode. It's right it kind of showcases everybody both except for Joey only good, but good and bad for everybody. And and it's... I like it. It's good song, solid eight, in my opinion.
01:05:42
Speaker
I like it. umm I'm going to rock the boat here. It's not what... I don't really like this episode. Wow! a fan. It's coming in at six and a half.
01:05:55
Speaker
A six and half for me. I just... The whole Monica bag, the whole bump in the head... ah Just not a fan. Not a fan. There's some good moments. Don't get me wrong. There's some good moments.
01:06:10
Speaker
Anything, any episode with Janice in it gets a little bump. But not fan. Just not a fan of the storyline. I don't like the fact that it's called the giant poking device. And that doesn't even come up as a concept until about three minutes from the end.
01:06:25
Speaker
Yeah. You know, a few things like that. Yeah. Yeah. Well, that's like the candy hearts. The one with the candy hearts. Yes. Like... I do like it. Usually we're kind of right there, there but there's times where we we do... Yeah. Well, but what I was saying is the one with the candy hearts and we were like, what the heck episode is that? Yes. Because literally it's two lines.
01:06:49
Speaker
Yes. All of 30 seconds. So... the The name of the episode doesn't bother me too much. See, i would I was thinking about this, and it could have been the one where nobody dies.
01:07:01
Speaker
It could have been something that is a little more throughout the whole story for me. But course, I'm being picky. And you can be if you want to. I can be. This is our podcast. We can be a little picky. Next week, I've got no idea what this one is because it's the one with the football And there's several episodes. Or is it the football game? or is it football?
01:07:28
Speaker
I don't know. I just know it's the one with the football. football You know, one one. I don't know what. I haven't looked forward to see. Oh. Because there's like a Thanksgiving one where there's football and...
01:07:42
Speaker
i just Yeah, the one with the football. You know, I'm going to just have a little sneak peek. Just look at the the introduction. Yeah. Oh, what how about that?
01:07:53
Speaker
It's the one with the Geller Cup. It's Thanksgiving. Wow! How appropriate is That Good. I was hoping it was that one. I feel there's a lot there to discuss. and Oh, yeah.
01:08:06
Speaker
I just pulled it up. And yeah, that's going to be a fun one. Good. I'm excited. Well, any final thoughts before we get out of here? Um,
01:08:17
Speaker
I'm really sad you didn't like this episode more. yeah Like, I genuinely... i And i I don't know. i am yeah. who I mean, yeah normally we're kind of on the same page. But like, we're pretty solidly um not. And that is shocking. Is it because we're now competing? Is that what has happened here? We're going peel back the layers of the onion here. And we're going to see what's going on. Well, we'll we'll revisit this next week. When we the one with the football.
01:08:53
Speaker
Awesome. Well, as always, thank you, Deanne, being awesome. Thank you, Thanks. And thank you, everybody, for listening into this week's episode of the Purple Door Podcast.
