Welcome & San Diego Comic Con Overview
00:00:01
Speaker
Welcome to the Chick Foley Show.
00:00:24
Speaker
What is up, Foley fam? We are back with one of the most anticipated episodes of the Chick Foley show. Every single year, it is our San Diego Comic Con wrap up. The analytics don't lie, man. Every year, it's basically the WrestleMania review and the San Diego Comic Con follow up. Do the biggest numbers for us year after year. We're excited to talk about all of the figure reveals that we got this year. But first, before we get into anything else, let me introduce the star of the show, Sheena. How you doing?
00:00:53
Speaker
I'm doing good. I told Seth that next year we need to just do little mini soads every day of Comic Con because yeah, trying to wrap up and like put into one episode everything that happened over the weekend is just, it's going to be bananas because there was just so much revealed. So next year, I think we're going to be on the, every night of Comic Con, we'll just come at you with a nice little 15, 20 minute pod to recap what happened during the day.
Show Lineup & Guest Introductions
00:01:20
Speaker
We got, Sheena's drinking an iced coffee right now. I have a ice cold Red Bull in the cooler right next to me in case we, you know, break glass in emergency. Cause yeah, we're strapped in for the long haul tonight. We sent an invite to Marco. Marco's dealing with bedtime with the littles. Obviously the parents out there.
00:01:35
Speaker
You know how that
Funko Pop Collecting: Passion and Market Trends
00:01:36
Speaker
is. So we may get a money in the bank cash in appearance from Marco on the show, but locked in, ready to go. We could not do the Comic Con recap without the Fig God himself, Jordan. Jordan, what is happening, dude? Man, this has been a long weekend. When they start these reveals on Thursday and it goes till yesterday, I had quite a bit more than today.
00:01:58
Speaker
And it's a long week and a figure reveals, dude. It just, it just amazes me every year. Um, how big S S D C C is. Um, but I don't do Funkos anymore. So thankfully I don't have to deal with that anymore. Cause that usually was a big, totally Europe. You're a hundred percent retired from the Funko game. I'm not buying any new, any more new Funkos. Wow. Even WWE. I have not bought any new Funko since I think Christmas of last year.
00:02:28
Speaker
That is insane because Jordan basically has a down payment on a modest family home set aside in Funko pops, dude. Hook me up, man. I know you're going to have a windfall because you got some of the super duper rare ones, right? Yeah. I think I have almost the entire collection of WWE up until the end of last year. Then I've got all the stranger things up until the end of last year.
00:02:54
Speaker
You don't have that rare macho man that we passed over at the Superstore. Walked by that three different times.
00:03:04
Speaker
And then I don't have the 7-Eleven Ray. I think that's the only two that I don't have. Yeah, 7-Eleven Ray was hard. That one goes for about 300 bucks. I know it did a couple of years ago when I was looking at pulling the trigger on it, man. What's your single most valuable Funko, dude? So take sentimental value out of it straight up financially, dude. The house catches on fire, dude. You got time to go snatch one Funko. Which one are you grabbing?
00:03:27
Speaker
Oh, dude, the important ones aren't even inside the home. They are in a metal box that they're not melting in that box. Like it's going to be safe no matter what. That's fine. I have a couple.
00:03:41
Speaker
Dude, I'd have to look through it, but the last time I looked, I had a couple that were valued over like 2,800 bucks each, so. That's pretty. Give us some deets, dude. What's the hottest, yeah, what's the hottest Funko Pop out there right now that's, you know, highest value. So the last time I looked, the Ned Stark with that, where he's being beheaded. The headless Ned Stark, dude, I'm so pissed off.
00:04:07
Speaker
I should have got that way back in the day because even when it came out it was still rare but it was like not like what it is now dude like it was still like one of those things that you weren't just gonna like walk in and find but yeah I'm pissed that I never pulled the trigger on that headless knits dark because I think when I got it
00:04:23
Speaker
God, I want to say I paid like 150 to 200 for it when I got it. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It was still pretty. Yeah, you're probably like, Oh, damn, I paid a lot. What am I doing? This is the stupidest investment I've ever made in my life. And like some of those old like first series Funkos, I mean, that, uh,
00:04:41
Speaker
the three dragons that came with one of the box sets I got those from somebody I have those I got those from somebody like a garage sale it did not had no idea they're just getting rid of them I think I paid ten bucks for all three of them
00:04:54
Speaker
Funkos are so cool, man. If space was no issue, dude, I would go wild with them. If I had my dream and won the lottery, dude, and built a climate-controlled barn to just house all my figure collection, I would go nuts with them.
00:05:12
Speaker
It's almost impossible to cage it in. That's why we consolidated it down to just the WWE stuff. I was pretty hardcore into the Funkos for a while. We had a hell of a Funko question. Like you said, I'm so multifaceted in my interests and Funko is clearly, they get licenses for everything. Then you feel like you need everything. I was like, dude, I can't keep up. I can't keep going this way. We liquidated.
00:05:36
Speaker
Yeah. And I know a common critique you'll hear on the Funko haters is they say that they're going to be like this generation's Beanie Babies. Beanie Babies. I think that's totally off base though, because the thing is Beanie Babies, they were really hot collectible and stuff, but there was no emotional attachment.
00:05:52
Speaker
Everybody really gives a shit about waddles the penguin, whereas these Funkos, dude, it's tied to a TV show, a movie, an athlete. It's tied to something that you have some emotional attachment to, and that's why I think that these things are still going to have a lot more staying power than Beanie Babies are. They're not going to be a fad that are worthless 10 years from now. True. I do think there are some lines. I guess there's something for everybody out there, but there are some lines that I'm just like, what the fuck are we doing here?
00:06:20
Speaker
I mean, they milk stuff dry. Yeah, I definitely think that all the, all the various, they'll definitely, you know, they go to the well one too many times on some of these, but I still think for the most part that these things are going to hold, even if they don't necessarily hold up every last dollar of like financial value, they may have the peak of Funko. I think they're still going to be something that people care about in their collections. Whereas I don't know anybody that's really going to care about, you know, cared about their beanie babies after that whole craze went.
Farm Life Updates & Economy Discussion
00:06:44
Speaker
What's your take on the overall state of Funko, Jordan? I mean, it's not in a good place right now. I'll be completely honest with you. The older ones still have their value. The problem is, is much like Mattel, which we'll get into, a lot of the stuff is becoming kind of like re-releases now. Like that's just kind of where they are on the bigger lines because, I mean, let's face it, you can only release the same character so many times before you're going to get a repeat.
00:07:08
Speaker
Um, and that kind of became my issue with like stranger things and stuff. It's like, dude, do I really need 27 different 11s? Like it just, I mean, I think that was like my, my stopping point is when it just, I felt like I was buying the same Funko over and over. I love the WWE ones because it was always a different character, but even now they're starting to get into repeats. So.
00:07:31
Speaker
It's just, it's tough, man. Um, it's the, yeah, I think it's definitely at his lowest point right now, as far as buying new ones. Um, like I said, I still think the old ones have a lot of value, but the new ones I could definitely tell last week, cause I'm still a part of all those groups and stuff. Like there's a ton of people I still know that do Funkos. Um, but I could definitely tell last week was the first time in a while that I could see that the excitement for comic-con was way down. Cause
00:07:58
Speaker
I don't know if I've ever told you guys this. Every year since I started collecting Funkos, I've always got one of the like secret boxes from, it's called Funko Fun Days, but it's at the Comic Con. And I've always got one of the boxes and they were really hard to get. And this year is the first year that I didn't buy one. So it kind of sucked. Cause I love getting those cause you got three mystery pops in each one and it was always cool getting them. Like one year they had a,
00:08:25
Speaker
dumb and dumber as Freddy Funko and Pennywise as Freddy Funko. I mean, they're really cool. And I always got the ones I wanted, luckily, so I never had to pay over retail. But yeah, this was the first year I didn't do it.
00:08:39
Speaker
Yeah, it's tough, dude. I think collectibles as a whole are kind of taking a downturn just simply out of economical issues. Yeah, the collectible market is definitely tied to the amount of discretionary income people have. At the start of the pandemic, people had a little bit of extra cushion to get their stimmy checks. Dude, you had an explosion and now with inflation and everything, that's typically the first place people start tightening the belt. Weird. Everything went up after we got a bunch of free money. Who would have thought?
00:09:11
Speaker
Oh, man. Yeah, I don't. We don't need to go into that. Yeah, that won't. That's for another podcast another day. Shayna, tell us what is new on the farm.
00:09:19
Speaker
Oh man, just, it's actually more in the kitchen right now. I mean, I literally have countertops full of apples and tomatoes and peppers and all the things that I have to like get put up or dehydrated or canned or something, dude. So this is, I've told you guys before, this is my least favorite part. I don't mind it once I'm actually doing it, but it's just like, you know, just the getting started. It's like, oh God. The harvest has been on point this year, dude. It's overwhelming the amount of stuff we've gotten from the garden this year.
00:09:47
Speaker
Yeah. And so, you know, I'm just like one person and I have a million other things to do during the day. And like, so finding time to like, you know, roast and strip and juice tomatoes is like, you know, one of those things where it's like, okay, but awesome. I'm glad my garden's producing and, um, yeah, putting in my second, uh, round of stuff. So.
00:10:06
Speaker
Added another free range turtle to the backyard. We got it. We found a new turtle today. Yeah, his name is um Her name is tatum. Brett named her tatum. So we have another turtle back there I'm still holding off to see when our little baby turtles if they hatch I don't know if they're fertilized or not But I keep an eye on that little spot where we saw our telly girl Lay her eggs and see if those little little turtlings will will hatch. Do you want to tell them about having to put a a saddle on eggs?
00:10:33
Speaker
Yeah, so you know roosters eggs is the most popular chicken in the the run with it with the roosters Yeah, she must she must have the good good because the other rooster like they picked her back baldy So when roosters it's it's pretty aggressive when they go to like, you know fertilize the egg when they go to mount the other chicken It looks kind of brutal and poor eggs her little back has no feathers on it So I had to put this special saddle on her just so that the roosters wouldn't scratch and peck her back. So
00:11:01
Speaker
Lots of fun things going on here. I'm milking the goats every morning still. Um, I don't know. I'm trying to think what else is, uh, what else the Haps is around here. I milk the goat every morning too, just so we're, I bet you do. I bet you're trying to keep it PG 13. Oh really? Yeah, that would be a first.
SummerSlam Match Predictions
00:11:21
Speaker
All right, want to remind you guys, this episode is brought to you by Ringside Collectibles. There is a ton of amazing stuff up for pre-order. Use code CHICKFOLY to save 10% on all those. I know we had some members of the group saying that CHICKFOLY code saved them close to 100 bucks over the weekend, man, with all the stuff they pre-ordered. Yeah, thanks to everybody who uses those codes too. Definitely. Sheena, remind the listeners where they can find you guys on social media.
00:11:44
Speaker
You can find me on Instagram at Chick Foley, Marco running the Twitter machine over at Chick Foley Show. Join us, our Foley fam, over on our private group in Facebook by going to chickfolie.com. Patreon, it goes through Patreon. Two bucks a month. Yeah, two bucks a month. You can't even get a McDouble for that anymore. We used to say you couldn't get a double cheeseburger, now you can't even get a McDouble for that. I know. Me and Brett went to Wendy's today. Speaking of the terrible economy. We did a fig hunt today and went to Wendy's. It was three bucks for a junior bacon cheeseburger. Those used to be like $1.29.
00:12:11
Speaker
I told you, remember that when Mamie and Pappy took Brett and they got him a double cheeseburger. It was like $3. I was shook. I was like, I don't think they run you upright. It used to be a dollar, dude. We definitely hit it up. Like I said, that group's been going for four years now. Never raised prices one time, dude. Find me another product that hasn't raised the price in the last four years. The value just gets better and better. Yeah, it does. It's reverse inflation.
00:12:39
Speaker
All right, you guys ready to get into some wrestling talk? Of course. Yeah. So we have a metric fuckload of- PG? Figure. Well, I've been drinking maker's mark pretty much all day. Nice try, man. Hey, I'm hosting, man. The host sets the tone. All right, so you guys follow my lead, dude. I'm allowed to drop the first F bomb on the show.
00:13:01
Speaker
We got, again, a metric F load of figure talk to get to. But I did want to we got to at least touch on the stuff happening inside the squared circle. We are six days away from SummerSlam at this point. We'll probably all be back together here in the next couple of days to do a proper SummerSlam preview. But just wanted to quickly take you guys on Saturday, right? Yeah. OK. Yeah. I want to quickly take you guys temperature. Where are you guys at on the the hype level for for SummerSlam 2024?
00:13:28
Speaker
Our big matches are Drew versus CM Punk with Seth as the guest referee. We got Solo and Cody going at it for the WWE Championship and then we got Gunther and Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship. I think it's going to be a banger, dude. I'm hyped for it. I'm waiting and hopefully we'll see Roman come back. That would be super awesome.
00:13:54
Speaker
But yeah, anything can happen the summer slam is like the midpoint where it's just like they're really gearing up for the second half of the year and What's gonna you know kind of set us set the tone for mania? So, you know, like I said anything can happen. It's a fun card There's not a bad match on the card looking at it Like I'm excited to see the bell ring on all of these matches I do think they're missing like the one big money match like you almost feel like
00:14:16
Speaker
If you take Roman out of the equation with the Cody and solo situation, it almost feels like CM Punk and Drew should be the main event. I'll still go back to it, man. I think they missed the boat by not having Seth take that belt off Damian Priest and Seth versus Gunther, man. To me, Seth versus Gunther feels like a SummerSlam main event match, man. So I do think it's missing the one money match. But other than that, I'm excited. Where are you at with it, Jordan?
00:14:38
Speaker
I mean, every match outside of CM punk and drew has a title on the line as of right now. So that alone should get you excited. I mean, everything that's been announced as a singles match as well. So that's kind of odd, but I mean, any more for WWE, I guess we'll just take it. Uh, if, if I had to rate it on a scale of one to 10, I'd probably go like a six or seven, cause I'm with you there. There's not that one match that's just going to pull me in. Like,
00:15:05
Speaker
The thought of Roman coming back is always great, but until he actually comes back, like you can't get yourself excited thinking he's going to come back because I mean, he still might not come back yet. We just, we really don't know.
00:15:18
Speaker
Yeah, I think back like two years ago, we had Roman and Brock and Last Man Standing, which was arguably the best match of their storied rivalry, dude. I think it's between that and WrestleMania 31. Last year, we had Cody and Brock's final match, which was awesome. And then we had Roman versus Jay. We're missing that one match this year. You're like, you know what, dude? Maybe I can miss some of the show, but I got to make it for this one match. There's not that this year, dude. I don't feel like anybody's... Like I said, Punk and Drew's the biggest match. I think Punk and Drew's the biggest match
00:15:46
Speaker
I mean, it should definitely be the main event here. No shade to Cody Rhodes, but yeah, it's definitely got the big match feel. So yeah, you're right on that, but historically when WWE looks a little lackluster, they find a way to bring it to us.
00:16:07
Speaker
They had I think they had to do it because you know triple H is smart dude. He's really really smart He's got an awesome team that's monitoring social media So i'm sure that they understand kind of the perception of this card going in if you guys saw smackdown On friday night at the end of the show. I mean they you know, there's there's subtlety There's like telling you what's going to happen and then they're straight at bashing you over the head with it
00:16:28
Speaker
They, you know, they've been ending these smack downs with solo doing these kind of cinematic promos with, you know, the bloodline standing behind him and Jacob Pottu holding the, the, the Ola Fala. And he straight up, you know, they showed Roman Reigns in the thing and he straight up said like if Roman Reigns has a problem with anything I'm saying, he knows where to find me. I mean, they couldn't make it any more clear.
00:16:47
Speaker
Like, dude, we are going to get the return of the tribal chief one way or another Saturday night. So I think that's enough to get you on, you know, to get you watching. But yeah, I kind of agree, man. I think punk and drew is the big match. I'm not opposed to them straight up carbon copying the end.
00:17:03
Speaker
of SummerSlam 97, dude. I can already see it right now. Seth and Drew get into it. Seth swings the chair at Drew, or excuse me, Seth and Punk get into it. Seth swings the chair at Punk, knocks out Drew McIntyre, and Punk gets the win, dude. And Seth has to count that three count for CM Punk, man. Would you guys be upset if they just straight up ran back SummerSlam 97 with Brett Taker and HBK? I mean, Rollins is definitely going to get physically involved. There's no question about it. Yeah.
00:17:31
Speaker
Yeah. Other than punk actually winning. Um, yeah, I think I would, I'd be okay with that.
00:17:37
Speaker
I mean, he has to win. He has to win, right? Like if Punk doesn't win, what is the point of the storyline? If he loses now, like the storyline is Drew continues to lose because he gets screwed over. So yeah, I could easily see. I mean, we're joking about it, dude, but I could 1000% CC and Punk getting hurt in this match, dude. He's fighting Drew McIntyre, who's an absolute freaking hoss. So like,
00:18:02
Speaker
If punk makes it through this match healthy, it's a win for WWE regardless of how the fans like it, regardless of how like, you know, the Dave Meltzer's of the world like and if punk can get through this match, I'll get hurt. It's a win. But, but yeah, I feel I still feel like, you know, I don't, I, I don't know looking this far out if it can main event.
00:18:20
Speaker
you know, night one of Mania, but I feel like CM Punk and Seth Rollins in a perfect world could totally main event a WrestleMania night. And I feel like this is going to be, you know, another chapter putting that in motion. So it feels like that's where we're ultimately heading is much love to Drew. Drew's just not Seth, man. Seth is still a level above Drew. And it feels like Seth versus CM Punk is a match that people have wanted
Wrestling Storylines & AEW Highlights
00:18:41
Speaker
for a really long time. We're supposed to get it. It was supposed to. It was it was written in the stars, dude. Yeah, I think it was originally going to be the main event of night one last year before, you know, The Rock got involved.
00:18:50
Speaker
And CM Punk got hurt, obviously. That was the catalyst that threw the whole thing into motion. Yeah, that feels like where we're heading. I do think that the big thing on this one, man, I think we got potential for set to have the single greatest referee attire in the history of professional wrestling. Oh my gosh, I didn't even think about that, about how he's going to pimp out his ref uniform.
00:19:12
Speaker
I'm thinking maybe like Jeff Jarrett style gear but with white and black stripes, you know, like how Jeff Jarrett wore that like bizarre like, you know, during the double J era, dude, I'm thinking something like that, but it's gonna be cool. Like his BDSM type straps. So obviously we're gonna get way deeper into this here, you know, later on this week when we do our official SummerSlam preview. You guys got any other thoughts you need to get off on SummerSlam before we move on?
00:19:35
Speaker
No, no, no, why at six stuff on here, which I thought was a little, you know, I have a bad feeling about that, that group that it's just going to go away at some point. Like I just.
00:19:49
Speaker
I don't know. I've really liked what they've done so far. I'm not saying I don't like it. I'm just saying I just have a bad feeling about it. I mean, the good thing about the Wyatt Sticks is they are more based in reality than Bray was. So I think it's got more legs. It seems like they've learned some lessons, man. Yeah.
00:20:10
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, you're right, Jordan. All the Bray stuff, always, man. Even going back to the original Wyatt family run, it always had a shelf life, right? It was really, really cool for six, nine months, dude, maybe up to a year if you're lucky, and then Bray would go away for a while and come back with something slightly different.
00:20:27
Speaker
I don't know. I'm with you, man. Without Jay Uso or Chad Gable on the show, it's hard to see where they fit in, man. But you feel like you got to have an appearance because they do seem like the biggest deal. I thought Bo did a great job showing up and hitting the sister Abigail and stuff. I got teary-eyed when that happened, dude. I feel too much. I have too many feelings. But yeah, when he got him in the sister Abigail position and then hit it, I had a little
00:20:52
Speaker
Gangster tear down roll down my face I've been skeptical from the jump on this whole thing you guys know that we've talked about on the show It's it's they've been hitting so far. Did you still like Jordan? I mean Jordan You nailed it dude like you wonder like how long can they keep it going but but I agree man like it it feels like You know at some point
00:21:11
Speaker
At some point, the bell's got to ring. You got to put it into a match. I'm still not sure how you translate everything we've seen so far into a professional wrestling match in that 20 by 20. Well, I think they could do it where, I mean, Beau wrestles his butt. I mean, because he's shown up. We know that Beau is Uncle Howdy, right? It's not like it's like, oh, who is this weird mystery person? Like, we know. That was such a good touch, too, when Chad Gable was going around on Raw telling people, like, guys, I figured it out. No doubt this is Uncle Howdy. And everyone was like, dude, we knew that. We know.
00:21:40
Speaker
Yeah, so I mean, I think there's a way to give it legs where it's not, you know, to stretch it out a little bit. I do think ultimately there is a ceiling on it and they're going to have to just keep modifying it the same way that they did with the Wyatt family and the same way they did with the Fiend and all that kind of stuff just to keep it new and interesting. But I'm hopeful and I mean, for, you know, for Bo Dallas' sake and everybody else, I hope it works out.
00:22:03
Speaker
Got to get some quick AEW love before we move on, man. If you guys did not get the chance to watch it, last night they had a badass three hours of wrestling between collision and battle of the belts. It was really, really good. And the main event match on a battle of the belts, Dustin Rhodes and the Vaughn Eric's going up against undisputed kingdom. Go out of your way to watch that match. It was to crown the ring of honor six man tag belts.
00:22:26
Speaker
I was talking to Chad Smith from the Turnbuckle Tavern. That's the kind of match that reminds me why I love wrestling, dude. It's in Dallas, Texas. I'm kind of bummed. I was actually down there for work. I feel like I should have strategically laid out my trip to spend an extra couple days down there because I got a hit death before dishonor and collision last night. But you had Kevin Von Erich in the corner of Dustin Rhodes and Kevin Von Erich's sons winning these championship belts. It was awesome. Did you get a chance to see that one, Jordan?
00:22:52
Speaker
Absolutely incredible. And yeah, just seeing the Von Eirks wrestle on AEW television and seeing them wrestle in Dallas is just absolutely awesome. I mean, yeah. Those guys are studs, man. Yeah. I mean, yeah, they come from one of the best wrestling families ever. Yeah, I was going to say the Von Eirks were studs, dude. Yeah. It was- The OG Von Eirks, I should say. Yeah. Like I said, it was pretty good work right all the way around, but the atmosphere, Dustin Rhodes being involved, Kevin Von Eir getting involved. Like, dude, it's just
00:23:22
Speaker
Just go watch that match, dude. It was pro wrestling at its absolute finest. Also, collision feels like a 10 times bigger deal being in a smaller arena. Dude, just stick with that. Just stick with the smaller production. You don't need it to be in a 4,000 seat arena. What they're doing right now with collision is genius and it works. It makes it feel so much better than it used to because
00:23:46
Speaker
Dude, like you could just see so many empty seats on collision every time you tuned in. But now with so little seating, I mean, there's not really any empty seats and it makes a huge difference.
00:23:57
Speaker
Dude, I'll be honest, man, Saturday nights are not a good wrestling night for me. Last night was the first time I've sat down and watched collision. I freaking loved it, dude. So I'm with you, man. I think they should kind of do these little residencies, man. Set up shop somewhere for four, five, six weeks at a time in different cities in these small venues and make it work. It looked great. It felt great. If you haven't been watching collision, tune in next Saturday night if you don't have anything else going on. They're going to use daily space for this eventually, too.
00:24:25
Speaker
There's no way they're not that'll work too. Yeah. I love the way wrestling looks in dailies place, man I'm cool. I'm cool with aw doing dailies place, you know 50% of the time Let's hit the beverage break and then let's start cranking through this figure talk
00:25:01
Speaker
All right, it's time for the weekly beverage break where we tell you guys what we are sipping on as we pod.
San Diego Comic Con Figure Reveals
00:25:06
Speaker
Sheena, once again, has the lamest choice. I'll let Sheena go first. Well, you already spoiled it for the people at the top of the show. Well, give us the detail. All I said was iced coffee. I know you got like 15 different ingredients going in here, dude. These are like hand-raised beans from the Himalayans or something. I actually don't. This is super basic. It is the leftover coffee from this morning and it was just
00:25:28
Speaker
Cold coffee and then I put a little goat milk on top of it and a little organic maple syrup So super simple just trying to get through this figure talk and stay stay up past my bedtime Jordan have you ever tried goat milk? No, I have not I Tried some last night. I was told sheena dude I you know Brett say it we do Brett he calls it buddy time dude like sometimes on the weekends we'll just stay up and play with figures and watch old wrestling and stuff and
00:25:54
Speaker
Bratted while we were hanging out Brett said hey, can you fix me a glass of milk and the kids are? Exclusively drinking goat milk from the goats in the backyard. So I fixed him a cup and as I'm walking back to the room Curiosity got the best of me. I was like, let me just take a sip of this dude. It was solid dude I wouldn't have known the difference between it and regular milk you get from the grocery store and that's saying that's saying something because I've had a raw milk share for like three years now through four years now and yes, Seth never drinks it I had cow milk back in Virginia and then I had cow milk and goat milk here
00:26:24
Speaker
and Seth is like no, like if we were ever having cookies or something, he would like I would stuff. Don't give me a little, you know, half a pint. Yeah, I would give him a little half pint of regular milk and yeah, he tried the goat milk. I was shocked because I mean, I was just like, you know, whatever. Like Seth, he's not a milk drinker. It's not like he's like curd angle, like pounding milk. Yeah, unless I got chocolate chip cookies, I don't really drink milk anyways, but I tried the goat milk, man, and I got to give it the thumbs up. So I'll give Sheena props on the show for raising some healthy, healthy, happy goats. Delicious goats.
00:26:54
Speaker
You need to start making some cheese, dude. I want some goat cheese for my tacos, dude. I didn't need to make... Oh, that's a good idea. That's a good idea. You like that suggestion? Do you like goat cheese? I mean, I like any fresh cheese. But yeah, just think about next time you come here, dude, if we got some freaking homemade cheese from the raw goat milk from the backyard to go on some awesome tacos. Do you like jalapenos, Jordan? I have a boatload of jalapenos to make up some jalapenos in there. I love jalapenos. Oh, dude.
00:27:21
Speaker
Oh, I do too, dude. I'm going to make some cowboy candy and some like pickled jalapenos. We got that pickled jalapenos also, dude. That's the key, dude. You see fresh jalapenos on something? No, dude. You want the pickled... Fresh pickled jalapeno is good, dude. But pickled jalapenos are miles better than regular jalapenos. A hundred percent, yeah. So I'm definitely going to be making a bunch of those.
00:27:42
Speaker
Jordan, what are you drinking, man? I'm just drinking Bushlight to no one's surprise. I got up this morning, made breakfast and we watched the Olympics this morning. Watch Team USA basketball and yeah, so I've been drinking since about 8 this morning. So yeah, just just beer right now for me.
00:28:00
Speaker
Nice. I just polished off a maker's mark and Coca Cola. And now I'm popping the top on a Miller Lite. I'm actually kind of surprised, though, Sheena, about your coffee thing. I just assumed you're going to tell us that these coffee beans were harvested in Colombia from Buffalo's dung that they ate the coffee beans and they harvest them from the shit, which gives you a bunch more nutrients. And I just assumed that was going to be it.
00:28:27
Speaker
I do. I do take my coffee beans very seriously every once in a while. Like if I'm out of my bougie beans, like I'll just go get like, you know, whatever the best beans at the grocery store. Um, but yeah, I mean, I love me some high altitude grown, like, you know, certified mold free coffee, uh, like, yeah, organic beans, fair trade. All of that is like right in my freaking wheelhouse, dude. I'm, I'm,
00:28:50
Speaker
I am a coffee junkie. At one point in my life, I thought I was going to over my own coffee shop, but that never came to fruition. Here I am milking goats in the backyard. I love me some bougie ass coffee. I think this is just basic brew from the grocery store. I'm not above a gas station cup of coffee or a basic bag of beans from the grocery store. Disappointing. All right. Are you guys ready to get balls deep into some figure talk?
00:29:18
Speaker
Do we have a choice? Well, I wouldn't know if I wouldn't. Yeah, that's getting balls deep.
00:29:43
Speaker
All right, it's time to recap all of the Mattel and Jazz Words reveals from this year's San Diego Comic Con. Before we get into it, I want to remind you use code CHICKFOLY to save 10% at Ringside Collectibles. There's a ton of stuff up for pre-order right now. And if it's not up yet, it'll be going up in the next couple months. We got a lot to get into and we ended up running a little bit heavy on the actual wrestling talk because we love wrestling, but let's get started. So if you want to follow along,
00:30:12
Speaker
We're basically using ringside collectibles IG feed is our spirit guide go back to four days ago The post with the Rhea Ripley and that brand new ultimate edition raw ring That's where we're gonna start and we're basically just gonna scroll and discuss dude. So first up we have another First time in the line ultimate edition Paired with a ring so you got to get the ring to get it. We saw them do this with Eric Bischoff We saw him do it with diesel and doing back on the crowd fund
00:30:42
Speaker
Was there another ultimate ring they tied? Oh, the cane. The cane, yeah. We saw the cane. I think that was cane's sake. I don't think it was cane's first ultimate edition, though. Nope, it was not.
00:30:52
Speaker
But yeah, Ria's first ultimate kind of just in, you know, regular judgment day gear. If this is tied to a specific event, it's not super distinctive. It's just black and purple gear. And we got a brand new ring, man. So this is, I'm assuming that the, you know, the underbelly of this is similar to what we saw with the other ones, but it's got the new, the big fat round post. It almost looks like a hybrid of the ultimate edition rings we've gotten the last couple of times around.
00:31:17
Speaker
from Mattel and those rings, they did a Raw and SmackDown ring back in 2017 and 2018 that came with a Goldberg and Jinder Mahal Elite. You remember those in the story? Yeah, but the SmackDown one had the light up posts, right?
00:31:32
Speaker
Both of them did. Both rings had LED features, dude. So we didn't see a ton on this, man. All we saw was this. I know it's definitely different because those rings had a plastic clip, like a hard plastic clip went over like the edge of the apron, between the apron and the ring curtain. So, but it looks like these might light up. There's definitely like some clear plastic around the post. So kind of TBD on exactly what features this has, but it definitely has different ring posts from the other ultimate editions we had. I think the apron might light up.
00:32:02
Speaker
It might. I can't, well, so that front, I can't really tell. I don't think it, look at this picture right here. See how like it's like, it's kind of matte right there. Yeah. Dude, I think if it lit up, I think it would be lit up. They probably would have shown us too. I think it's just, so I'm assuming new ring posting. That's, that's the only difference. I think the price point would have been completely different too for a light up ultimate edition ring. I think. Did this go up for pre-order already or? No, but it sounded like it was going to be 150, just like the other ones from what I was reading.
00:32:30
Speaker
Yeah, so it's gonna be exclusive to Mattel Creations and Ringside. For me, I'm not an Ultimate Completionist. That Rhea does look nice, and it comes with the belt. As far as we know, this is the first time that the new Women's Heavyweight Championship belt, or whatever they're calling it, or Women's Undisputed, I can't keep up with the different belt names now, but Rhea's belt, we'll call it that. It's the first time that's being released. I don't think this figure is enough to make me buy it, dude. Jordan, I know you're an Ultimate Completionist, man, so I'm assuming you're in on this one.
00:32:59
Speaker
Dude, me and Mattel are going to have a bone to pick here pretty soon if they're going to continue doing this. I seriously thought, I mean, I know I'm stupid to think that they would stop doing this because people are buying them. To me, that's the only way they're going to move the rings. You have to include a figure with it that people have to want. But what are people doing with all these rings? These rings are huge, dude. They're ginormous. Y'all know I love figures more than anybody, dude. These rings, for the most part, they moved into Brett's bedroom, viewed upstairs because they're just
00:33:28
Speaker
they just they're huge man like a scale ring sounds great in theory and then you see it and you realize how much real estate this thing is taking up like yeah they're gigantic and it's nothing that you can just like fold up and put under you know what i mean like it's not easy to disassemble i would rather have like i feel like the size of the rings that like the basic rings that they make i feel like the size is fine if they would just put the tlc into it right like give us the same like craftsmanship on the on these ultimate rings um but just do it on the size of those basic rings and to me
00:33:56
Speaker
If they don't include any kind of like premium entrance gear or something, I think this is a pass for me, man. If they have some sort of awesome entrance gear to go with this Ria, maybe I pull the trigger. But right now, I'm thinking this is a thumbs down. I think the Ria is awesome. By herself, I think the Ria is awesome. Like you said, I don't think it's enough to encourage me to pay
00:34:17
Speaker
The extra 150 and then figure out what you're doing with that ring. Yeah, let's be honest to get the ring Who needs that ring? But I mean, I think it needs a little more for an ultimate We need some intern security needs something at least a really nice vest or something All it's shown with is just an additional head and two additional hands I make sure I'm to the title but I mean that I mean you get that with a with an elite
00:34:38
Speaker
I think they're really counting on that belt. I'm assuming we don't get that belt in any other release for the next year or so, dude. To me, man, if I'm just putting my business hat on, I think they're counting on that belt to move units, dude. I don't know, man. There's so many great belt customizers out there now. Yeah, you can get better belts. If you're using my tail belts, you're taking a backseat to some of the awesome customizers out there, dude.
00:35:02
Speaker
Thumbs down for me. I think Sheena gave it a thumbs down. Where you at with it, Jordan? You are the biggest ultimate fan we got here, man. What's up with this for you? Here's the honesty hour for you. I did not buy the ring and bitch off together. I honestly just went online on eBay and got a bitch off for a hundred bucks. Cause to be quite honest, I would rather pay just a hundred dollars to just get the figure and not have to worry about what I have to do with the ring and save the 50 bucks. Cause dude, the problem with selling those rings is then you got to package them up and ship them out.
00:35:31
Speaker
I'm not doing all that shit, man. I'll just pay the hundred bucks and eat it and get the figure only. Cause that's what I did with the Bischoff one. I just, I'm not paying $150 again.
00:35:41
Speaker
Yeah, I feel you, man. I get why they're doing it, but I'm not a fan. Why are they doing it? Just because they've already made the mold on this ring, so they want to make their money off of it. Anytime you can do a straight up repaint or a really straight profit. The biggest cost on action figure making is doing new molding and stuff. Anytime you can do a repaint,
00:36:04
Speaker
It's Money in the Bank. That's why you see companies like Major Bendy's or like back in the day like, you know, OSFTM, dude, the WCW Toymakers. Just repaints, yeah. Tons of repaints, dude, because it's just Money in the Bank. All right, let's go to the next post, dude. We saw... I'm assuming these are basically final versions of the Steiners. I think they nailed it on these, man. They look awesome. Yeah, I got no notes on these Steiners, dude. I think this is... If they don't release another Rick or Scott, I think we're good with this set of Steiners. It's been a glaring omission from the collection for... One of the biggest, dude. Yeah, for years. They killed it, yeah.
00:36:34
Speaker
We don't have a lot to add to this. They killed it just like we thought they were going to. I do want to point out, dude, the Rick Steiner has two different boots. That may be a first time in the line for Mattel. I can't remember another time they've given straight up two different boots. You know, Rick Steiner was crazy. That was kind of just a nod to him being, you know, the dog face gremlin, this crazy guy. So we got one like shin length boot and one kind of ankle boot, man. And just really awesome that they went through that level of detail. So yeah, these are perfect. Yeah.
00:37:02
Speaker
All right, the outsiders. Dude, what an upgrade, man. I remember seeing these at WrestleMania Access. Remember, we were kind of lukewarm on these, dude. We were a little bit let down. I can't even really put my finger on exactly what they did, but it seems like they just made some minor tweaks. And I cannot be more excited for the final product after seeing these guys here, man. I remember almost being bummed out, seeing them at Access. These look outstanding, dude. This outsider set is money.
00:37:29
Speaker
Bro, I didn't even- It looks great. Is the Kevin Nash, is that a re-release from the- From Elite 16, so he had this, there was an all red Elite 16 Kevin Nash. That's the one I'm thinking of. Yeah, an all red. It's not a re-release because that was from a little bit later era of Kevin Nash, but yeah, it's another, he's had an all red attire before.
00:37:47
Speaker
I hated the way that Kevin Nash looked so much on the first picks that I didn't even pre-order these because I was just kind of disgusted that this is what we were getting. But I went ahead and pulled the trigger on Friday or whatever day it was and went ahead and pre-ordered them. Now, granted they're on back order, but that's fine. I'll get them when I get them.
00:38:05
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, I don't need to have them first or anything. I just want to have a complete set. So yeah, they they made it way better. I agree with you. I don't know what they did, but it looks 100 times better. Yeah, it's like I was I even went to the trouble of like doing some screenshots to a side by side. I cannot put my finger on what it was. But yeah, so I'm assuming it's just some little minor tweaks here and there, man. But these look
00:38:28
Speaker
miles better did and I could not be more excited for this set man probably, probably the best Kevin Nash and best Scott Hall figure we're ever getting is coming up in this one set. Yeah, they might as well not even make any more after this at this point. Yeah, you're done you're good to
Mixed Reactions to New Figure Releases
00:38:41
Speaker
go. All right, let's go on more ultimate editions we got the target exclusive legends ultimate Vader and two different attires man this thing looks really really cool.
00:38:50
Speaker
I think I'm probably passing on the red and black one I think I'm just getting the red and blacks the chase I think I'm just gonna get the all black and where are you guys at with the ultimate edition Vader?
00:38:59
Speaker
I'm getting both and I'm going to make a bold proclamation. I think this might be the best ultimate they've ever done. The Vader head scans are absolutely phenomenal. Yeah. It looks awesome, dude. And just having the, uh, the mask molded on is like, it's so much better than the, yeah, the removable mask. I mean, it looks good for what, when it, when it came out and stuff, but it never really sat right. It wasn't, you know, it's hard to make something in that scale. That's going to be like flush against the skin and make it look like it looked in real life. But like, yeah, the molded.
00:39:28
Speaker
Looks sick. It's so good. These are brand new knee pads. Also, I believe too with the kind of circles and stuff I don't think they've done that knee pad before I think these are new knee pads No, I don't think they have either but yeah to me when I saw this the the final scans of it I'm like dude This is up there for best ultimate edition ever if it's not already the best ultimate edition ever
00:39:51
Speaker
Yeah, I feel like, see, I think I'm passing on the red and black because that last elite that they did, it was in the Royal Rumble series, dude. Really good. It's so freaking good, man, that I just don't, I don't feel like it's worth it to upgrade, man. I think I'm just going to black, but I don't know. It's definitely just an amazing figure, man. I love the red mask though. That's the only thing you're missing out with the, you know, not getting the red. Yeah, getting those new head spots. Yeah, getting the red mask. And this may be one that if I see it on the shelf at Target, maybe I'd end up-
00:40:21
Speaker
I'll probably do the same thing I did with the Yoko Ultimates and just the day they come out, just go ahead and just pre-order. I'll go and buy out the whole stock at our local Target. Hey, man, don't be telling everybody our secrets, bro. We don't need everyone to hear this, man. Come on, dude. What are you doing? That's the way you guarantee that you get a chase also. Yeah, but when everybody else is doing it.
00:40:46
Speaker
You got to gate keep a little, Seth. All right. He didn't say that. What he meant to say was he's going to run to his target that morning and hopefully they have the chase. Hope it's on the page. Yeah. All right, so thumbs up on the Vader. Let's go to Dutty Roads, man. Again, probably the best Dusty Roads figure ever made. We actually got a molded liver splotch or birthmark, whatever you want to call that. Hemangioma.
00:41:09
Speaker
I think I'm definitely getting this one, dude. I don't necessarily, I don't need the cop accessories and stuff. I just want to impose either with the polka dots or with the tank top on, but this thing's awesome, man. Definitely grabbing it. Yeah, I think it looks great.
00:41:23
Speaker
They are killing the Ultimates, dude. For a little while, we were making fun of them because it just seemed like all we were getting was the same old people over and over again, but they're fine. They were just warming up. Yeah, they were great, dude. Yeah, I'm still more of a fan of...
00:41:40
Speaker
elites or even basics as far as like the articulation model. I don't need all the added articulation, but just the level of detail and the level of just care that they put into the accessories and the face gloves. It seems like they just, they really go all out on these old screens.
00:41:55
Speaker
going to our next one. The Hulk still rules. Another one, dude. This thing, it looks awesome, dude. It looks like a shrunken down Hulk Hogan, man. It's almost a sculpture instead of being an action figure. I think this thing is beautiful. Bro, that head scan where he's like grimacing is, I mean, it literally just looks like they melted down Hulk Hogan and put him onto a figure. That is phenomenal.
00:42:15
Speaker
Yeah, I love the gear. You got the knee brace, dude. And the tie-dye looks so good, dude. Mattel historically has struggled with tie-dye paint jobs, and yeah, the tie-dye pants look really great. Yeah, it's awesome, dude. All right, we get a quick little jazz wear sneak peek in the feed, black machismo, Jay Lethal. I'm all in on this. I love this figure, dude. This is awesome.
00:42:38
Speaker
This is from his look from all in 2018, really kind of the birthplace of AWW in a lot of ways. This is a must buy dude. Jay Lethal's first time in the line. Super toy addict and just a really, really cool figure. Yeah, I agree. That jacket is killer too. I mean, the details on it look awesome. I cannot wait to get this figure.
00:42:59
Speaker
Yeah, for a soft goods jacket, they did awesome on it. Because sometimes the soft goods can look, with a jacket that ornate, it can look really, you're just not right. But yeah, I think it looks great. Yeah, we've said it many times before, dude. When Jazzwares nails it, they freaking nail it, dude. They have a lot of misses, but when they hit, it's just as good as anything can tell. When they hit, exhibit A.
00:43:18
Speaker
Just like when the MJF chase, Brett said, why does MJF's face look like that? And he's like, what do you mean? And he's like, that looks like MJF. He's like, uh, no, like, you know, the eyes, the paint, the paint job's all jacked up. He painted that from eight feet away.
00:43:40
Speaker
I was about to make a spraying joke. We'll keep it PG-13 dude. All right, next Ultimate Edition, another one dude that like, if somebody just told you about it, you'd be like, why do I need this? Let's go. But you need it. You see it in person. This thing is freaking awesome, dude. This Ultimate Edition Lex looks incredible, dude.
00:43:59
Speaker
You know me I don't I don't even like screaming head scans and like this looks so cool like dude and for those the newcomers dude if you don't really understand yeah everybody remembers staying you know as the crow going up against NWO dude 1997 Lex Luger was as over as it gets go back and watch when he beat Hulk Hogan for the championship you know he only held it for a couple weeks
00:44:22
Speaker
and lost it back, but dude, he was as over as over gets. He was kind of the guy that was there week in and week out battling while Sting was doing the part-timer gimmick, man. I think this figure is incredible. Yeah, already the best Lex Luger figure of all time and it's not even close. Again, just said it, when Ultimate Edition gets it right, this is what it looks like.
00:44:43
Speaker
Yeah, they're dialed in now, dude. Like I said, these ultimates look great, dude. You know what this really makes me want, dude? We really need an Ultimate Edition USA Lex, dude. That's got to happen, right? Save it, because we got listener mail about what ultimates. Yeah, we need it. And I still would not, dude. I mean, obviously, we got six years in the can right now, dude. So we've all been on record, dude. I think me and Jordan both agree. Lex Luger, he's in the mix for, as far as main event level guys, he's in the mix for one of the most underrated of all time. 100%.
00:45:12
Speaker
Yeah, he gets shit on a lot because like the USA stuff ended up kind of like it never culminated in the championship win But dude Lex Luger was over and he was pretty good wrestler to do like let's just he gets a lot of undeserved hate Imagine they give us the reflection of perfection Lex and they put mirrors in the box
00:45:31
Speaker
God, that would be sick, dude. Seth just got H-A-R-D. Narcissus. We were watching the first episode of Raw today, and yeah, Bobby Keenan was on there hyping up the debut of the Narcissus. The Narcissus. No, the Narcissus. He was the Narcissus. All right, up next, this is a decent enough figure, but I think it's a hard pass for me. This is like 1999 era, Triple H Ultimate. I have no need for this figure whatsoever.
00:45:58
Speaker
Yeah, the open mouth head skin on this is very derpy.
Anticipated Figures & Series Highlights
00:46:01
Speaker
It's like der, like, I just, yeah, not- He just accidentally ingested some rat poison. Yeah, yeah.
00:46:09
Speaker
What do you, Jordan, you're the completionist, man. Justify the existence of this Triple H ultimate. I mean, 99, 2000 Triple H was absolutely incredible. So then putting this in figure form as I get it. But I mean, dude, if I wasn't a completionist, there's no way I'm buying this. Like there's zero chance. I feel like that one. But I mean, jogging pants. I feel like the one that we got, that Triple H we got in the mainline, like series three, the one that came out with Finn, that was like 2000, 2001, right? With the chain mail? Yep.
00:46:38
Speaker
i would rather seen like a nineteen ninety eight post sean michaels dx triple h ultimate yeah i agree with you i mean we're all in agreement on this one i don't i mean i'm gonna get it but i just i don't really it's not bad yeah i mean it's a it's a it's a fine it just looks like every other triple eight so it's a problem yeah but i mean we just we literally just talked about you know hulk and dusty and vader and uh lex and then there's this which is just kind of like a wee bit underwhelming
00:47:03
Speaker
All right, they showed the mankind Triple H, or excuse me, the mankind ultimate edition, Monday night wars, it's hitting pigs right now. Jordan, you got that one in hand courtesy of us, man. What'd you think seeing it in person? Oh, it's beautiful, man. It is a absolutely perfect mankind figure. The head sculpts are awesome. It is really good.
00:47:23
Speaker
Yeah, I did not like the soft goods. That's why I cast on this one. The cloth tie is just too scale of it. It looks almost like a doll to me, dude. But the head scopes were incredible in this thing. Yeah, they need to scale it down because it kind of looks like a clown tie where it's so oversized for the shirt. But yeah.
00:47:42
Speaker
I mean, you guys know I love Mick Foley and other than that, other than that tiny little gripe, it's pretty perfect. Yeah. I lucked out and found the fresh case of those, the Eddie and mankind Monday night wars. Grab Jordan two and to be honest, I had the second mankind in my car and took it all the way up to checkout before just setting it back down, man.
00:48:01
Speaker
Chicken down on at the last second just because I was like I already have I we got a really good Elite version of this custom by mad reaper like years ago before they you know before the defining moments one and That's kind of been my mankind represent this era, but it is a really really cool figure phenomenal
00:48:18
Speaker
I saw the Eddie. Great. Again, arguably the best Eddie Guerrero figure ever made. By far. I got it on display right now. Looks oddly like Dominic. I don't know. It's almost like they're related or something. I know. And Dom is also a foot taller than Ray. Yeah, it really starts to make you think, dude. Got some art imitating life. Oh, yeah. I saw Grayscale, Great Muda up next. Kind of hard to go off on this. I love seeing the entrance robe and mask. And I have no doubts this figure's going to turn out great. Yeah, this is going to kill it.
00:48:46
Speaker
Oh boy. Yeah. And then probably my most anticipated figures between this and a Brett we got coming up, you know, this was supposed to come out last year. It's supposed to come out in Ultimate Edition Series 20. And it was the Bray Wyatt from his really last ever match, dude, from the Lights Out match against LA Knight at Royal Rumble.
00:49:06
Speaker
2023. They've always crushed it on the Bray figures. I have no doubt this one's... All we've seen is just a figure so far. He had some masks, his cool entrance gear. You know this thing is going to be incredible once we see the finished product. I think this is going to be the top selling wrestling figure ever. I really do, dude. I just think people are so hyped to get this and it's still so fresh in all of our memory banks and stuff. I think this figure is going to be sold out for a long time.
00:49:33
Speaker
Yeah, I mean his last match dude it's you know, yeah defining moment dude. I want to see him going all out on some breaks You know what? I really want I think my most wanted figure right now probably through all of collecting I want to it sounds kind of weird because it's not gonna be the most toy addict thing remember that promo that Bray cut on Smackdown the week after he returned it was like super emotional where he talked about just how much he loved the fans and
00:49:56
Speaker
how much they meant to him he's kind of just in you know civilian clothes like regular streetwear clothes i want like an elite or an ultimate edition of capturing that moment yeah i think that would be sick yep
00:50:08
Speaker
All right, we got Ultimate Ray from WrestleMania 39. Dude, this thing looks killer. The head definitely gives off some vibes of Sam from Trick or Treat. But I think this is a super cool figure. But I love Sam from Trick or Treat, so I'm here for that. This thing is toyetic as hell. I'm definitely grabbing this. Yeah, this is going to, again, we're getting a lot of bests out. This is going to be one of the best Ray Mysterio figures ever. This is phenomenal.
00:50:34
Speaker
Dude, they've been so dialed in on the race since he came back at Royal Rumble 2018. I feel like all of the figures they put out depicting his time since then have been money, dude. I feel like they were a little bit hit or miss, like the early Mattel race, but I've got just about every single one of them, man. They're so cool. He always has great gear. I love what Mattel's doing with the Rey Mysterio.
00:50:55
Speaker
They're doing him a lot of justice these last couple years. That's what CM Punk said. CM Punk said that's how you get a lot of toys made up. You did always changing your ring gear, always changing your tattoos, always, you know, up leveling. Always be changing. This next one.
00:51:10
Speaker
I'm a little bit... This one's, to me, borderline worthy of being an Ultimate, but the fact that he has Concord, Jordan 11 boots is enough to make me want this LA Knight Ultimate Edition. I hate those fucking glasses, dude. I hate the fucking glasses so much.
00:51:26
Speaker
I think they're perfect for LA night. To me, if it's an ultimate edition, the glasses should be molded on. That's what I mean. You got three different head scans. Like why the fuck are we still doing these cheap looking glasses? They never sell. Yeah. Because there's no ears. The figures don't have like real ears. The removable glasses never freaking worked unless you got like a Shawn Michaels gimmick where like you kind of tuck it into the hair and it's got like little holes and even then it looks kind of awkward.
00:51:54
Speaker
Yeah, dude. They need to do that with Brett, man. That's all I want for them to do a Brett with molded sunglasses, dude. It would look so much better. You could get it perfect if you just went into it saying, hey, we're going to have a head with molded glasses on it, man. And if you did it with Brett, at least you'd have one good head sculpt at that point because you wouldn't have to look at the rest of it. Yeah.
00:52:16
Speaker
Alright, Ultimate Dom from again, another one from WrestleMania 39. WrestleMania 39 getting a lot of love. This one, I don't know, dude, I feel like they nailed it so hard with the Dom with the you know, the bandana and stuff that Joe Bird, Dom Elite. It's kind of cool that we're getting Dom with the Rey Mysterio mask on. Other than that, I feel like this one's skippable.
00:52:37
Speaker
I mean, yeah, it's, it's Dom's first ultimate. So I'm, I mean, I'm getting it no matter what, but it, that's a cool thing for him. If nothing else, I mean, yeah, if you don't have the other one, then yeah, if you don't have the other one, I feel like this one is definitely something for your collection, but I do love the, you know, prison Mike, Dom, Mike, the Dementors.
00:53:02
Speaker
She just blew up my eardrum here. I get excited. Me and Jordan just jinxed an office quote. It made my heart feel all warm and fuzzy. All right. We had Elite Greatest Hits, John Cena. This one's a hard pass for me, dude. It's a decent little figure, but I have no need for that one.
00:53:19
Speaker
No, I'm good on that one. Yeah, I think it looks, I mean, it's the perfect representation of John Cena, dude. Bro, what are we waiting on here? Can we get like the Word Life era, like, Sena's out? Like, we need more Word Life era Senas. Like, we've got enough never give up John Senas. Like, we can-
00:53:35
Speaker
We can move back to when he was rapping and get jerseys and stuff like what are we doing? Give us some word life and we know that you guys are raking in record profits every single quarter. Go out and drop the money to give us like some license like New York Knicks jerseys and stuff, right? Like actually give us the license Mitchell and Ness jerseys with the John Cena figures.
00:53:53
Speaker
I mean, they got close to it when they dropped the one with the orange basketball jersey, when they did the vault after the defining moments. But dude, I mean, that Cena figure is so good with the jersey on it. Like, dude, just you guys got enough money. We can do something here.
00:54:09
Speaker
All right, we got the Nat, the Natalia. She's getting a chase, dude. So that's a new thing. We're getting chases in the greatest hits line. It comes with the paws out, claws out shirt. This is still probably a pass for me, dude. I love it. I think it's awesome. I got a bunch of nattie figures just because you guys know we love all things Hart family. I don't know if I need any more natties.
00:54:28
Speaker
I love the little kitty cat buns. I love the paws out, claws out. I think it's awesome. I like the... Which one is the chase? Is it the one with the crisscross or the other one? I'm assuming the one in the back is the chase. I like the chase better just because it's got more details and also the deco covers up the belly button, which I always hate when they have the... Yeah, then you can see the belly button. You can still see the belly button and it just looks like they painted right over it, dude, especially for an elite figure.
00:54:57
Speaker
I think this is awesome. One thing that pumps this figure up a couple notches, Natty actually co-signed it. If you look on Ringside's comment, she actually said, this is so exciting with eight exclamation marks. They're truly very grateful. This figure looks badass. If anybody loves the business, it's freaking Italian. Yeah, I love Natty, dude. We talked about Lex being underrated. Natty's super underrated as far as female wrestlers go. Dude, she's been there forever, dude. Yeah, so probably a pass for me, but I'm never hating on Natty getting more figures.
00:55:26
Speaker
All right, King Seamus, arguably Seamus' most toyetic figure ever. I have this Elite, so I don't really need it, but really, really cool figure. This is good, yeah. This is a really good figure. We got Carlito, dude. This is awful, dude. The head sculpt, dude, I don't know who that is. It's not Carlito, though, dude.
00:55:45
Speaker
The, you have the, the nose. I like everything about it except the ring. It comes with an apple. You get a soft, good shirt other than, yeah, other than the, uh, the face sculpt. It's perfect, dude. But, uh, I don't know. And you know, Carlito has a figure, dude. He has a basic, uh, figure that was in a battle pack.
00:56:05
Speaker
way back in the day, dude. So Mattel has made Carlito, but it's going on 14, 15 years old. I have a basic Carlito figure that's got a good head sculpt. I legit may put that head sculpt on this one because I don't know what happened here, dude. It looks like they scanned the... What's the main character from Soul? His name, the Disney movie Soul. It looks like they scanned that cartoon character. To me, it looks like he got stung by a hive of bees and then smelled a bad fart. It's very puffy.
00:56:31
Speaker
Very puffy. Yeah. That's gigantic schnauze. That is a powerful head scan. I mean, that is a Pixar nose if I've ever seen it. That is a freaking honker right there, dude. That's the definition. If you look up honker in the dictionary... You got to hold that apple all the way up to his face. That's the only way to freaking display that figure, dude. That's one of those noses you want to go and poke and just go... Yeah. The apple hand sculpt, though, is cool. It is good. But the head scan is horrible.
00:57:01
Speaker
I don't know who he pissed off, dude. Whoever Brett pissed off, Carlito pissed off the same people, dude. Sweaty bill.
00:57:09
Speaker
Yeah, so look, I'm about to send you guys this dude. This is the old, this is from 2010. All right, I'm about to send this to the group chat. It's a freaking battle pack, right? Yeah, if you guys, this is battle pack series five, lets you know how far back we're going. So if you guys are following along, got your phones in hand, I'm about to send this to Sheena and Jordan. So this is going wrestling figure database, great website. We love them.
00:57:34
Speaker
Probably the best resourced Battle Pack Series 5 Carlito and Primo. Let's see how old it is. And look at the face sculpt on this Carlito, dude. If you're looking for a retro Carlito, this is miles better, dude. And I just don't know how. Yeah, in 2024. How we went this far backwards. Jordan, did you get that screenshot yet? Oh, yeah, it's 100 times better.
00:57:52
Speaker
Yeah, how did we go that far backwards in 14 years, dude? I don't know. I got to figure out what I'm going to do about that, Carlito, because you need it, right? Carlito is a big need. I don't know how he didn't get elite back in the day. I don't know. I mean, look at that.
00:58:10
Speaker
She was actually looking at Carly toe schnoz now. I mean, that's his like bio picture still Yeah, but it's still What they what they created on that figure looks way more cartoonish student does it looks it doesn't look like a caricature It just doesn't look like the guy
Toyetic Appeal of Wrestling Figures
00:58:25
Speaker
dude. All right, let's go on I think this has got a chance to be the one of the hardest to find mainline elites this year trick Williams getting his first figure in the elite line so good
00:58:36
Speaker
Fantastic. Perfectly. No notes. Yeah, it's from slightly before he straight up became the guy when he had the North American Championship. But that belt hasn't been released a ton either, dude. So you're releasing one of the most coveted first time in the line figures, and he's coming with a belt that has not come out very much at all, dude. So I think this thing is going to fly off the shelf. I don't think you're going to see it on the pegs, man. It's going to be like, nobody is passing this figure by if it's at their store.
00:59:05
Speaker
Agreed. Yeah, it looks fantastic. The white gear really pops. I love it. Another really cool first time in the line Dragonly. I think this looks great, man. It's got the nice entrance jacket, dude. I think this is really cool figure. Yeah, I mean, for our first time in the line figure, this is phenomenal.
00:59:22
Speaker
I don't really need it. I don't know if it's the head sculpt or just the pain apps, dude. But the Tiffany Stratt and her first elite, it's giving me big vibes of that Trish Jax LJN that I gave you before WrestleCon 2015, dude. She's definitely cross-eyed. Yeah, dude. It's something like, dude, if you're a buxom-blod wrestler, you're not getting a good head sculpt. That's just like the breaks of the game, I guess, dude.
00:59:50
Speaker
It's, I don't know, I always find with like the super plastic girls who are like, you could tell they've just either had a lot of work done or a lot of fillers or something like that. Just Tiffany taking strats. I mean, I mean, dude, Tiffany is a freaking bombshell, dude. There's no denying that. But there's also no denying that she's, she's pumped up and plumped out.
01:00:11
Speaker
Um, I think it's really hard to capture that. I mean, we've seen it a couple times where it's just like, I think, I think if her left eye wasn't looking at her nose, I think she'd be fine, dude. Some of these comments are hilarious. Hopefully. Yeah, let's see here. We got a gears 10 out of 10, but the face needs some work. Hopefully the face looks better when we have the final thing in hand. Somebody just got the, uh, the Mad Max. Somebody just said, it's not tiffy time. That's Methodist Stratton.
01:00:42
Speaker
Yeah, that is a bad, that's a really bad face scan. I don't know what's going on with there, but it's not good. Somebody said like Dolly Parton, if she got hit in the face with a frying pan. Oh my God. And the thing is, is you would think the ones that they're like, they would pick the absolute best
01:01:00
Speaker
like possible one to display at Comic Con, right? So like, like, wow, you know, I don't know. Somebody said, please be a prototype scan because those eyes are in different time zones. Somebody said jazz wears eyes. Jazz wears eyes.
01:01:18
Speaker
Again, somebody paying this from eight feet away. Oh my god. Oh my god. The eyebrows got something going on with them. This is not a good face scan. I feel like the basic was okay, D. Maybe we can do a little bit of head swabbing. Somebody said they scanned Sunny after her arrest. Oh my god.
01:01:40
Speaker
The, uh, the basic wasn't like an all timer of a, of a face sculpt, but it wasn't like offensive, dude. So maybe we can just do a head swap, man. All right, let's move on. That's enough. Hey, dude. Cause we love Tiffy, dude. Uh, we got to see him puck elite and the macho man gear. This thing looks freaking awesome, dude, with the, uh, the hot pink, the yellow, yellow knee pads.
01:01:59
Speaker
Jordan, we know you hate seeing punk, man. Can you hate on this figure? Can you show us some love? I cannot hate on this figure at all. It is really good. I mean, dude, his figures are cool. I've never said his figures aren't cool. He's just a dick. But I mean, outside of that, yeah. He's got cool figures. He's got cool attires. Yeah.
01:02:18
Speaker
We got some legends action going on, dude. Kurt Angle, super cool, dude. Another guy who always has great gear, dude. I'm going to win on this Kurt Angle. This one was originally going to be part
01:02:31
Speaker
of the best of the attitude era line and got canceled when that line, you know, ended up only lasting four figures. I'm all in on this skirt. Look at those legs though. I mean, Kurt's always been jacked, but like, those are like roid legs, dude. That's, Kurt's pretty freaking rare. That's perk angle to you. Yeah. He's the rest of the machine. Jim Nighthart, dude, in theory, I should love this figure because I love all things heart foundation, but I hate all the soft goods, dude. Yeah. You got to go sculpt, man. It just did.
01:02:58
Speaker
I feel like anytime you have more than one soft goods piece, it becomes a doll. That looks like something from Figure's Toy Company, man. Especially when there's billowy layers, it's really hard to get it in. That just doesn't work. I'm thinking that one's a pass. They should have molded the pants and then the soft goods jacket would have been fine, but both being soft goods, it looks so bad.
01:03:21
Speaker
And the other thing this is from the The new foundation high energy era unless we're getting a matching own heart which we know we're getting or a matching Coco beware Which we know is unlikely like this thing's just pointless dude, and he is a two-in-one if you take off all the gear He's got the who gimmick underneath the dude that was a gimmick the lasted like three weeks on superstars It's just I think this was a rare miss from the legends line. Yeah, it's this is not a good one
01:03:48
Speaker
Farooq from the early nation denomination days with the long long sleeve leather jacket or like the like the long leather like trench coat type deal. I'm all in on this. I think this is awesome. Yeah, this is definitely a figure of the set for me. Yeah, it's 2016 was when that that Farooq and rock came out exclusive. It lets you know how old it was nation domination two pack release. So he's do man. We've gotten pretty much all the other nation members since. Yeah, this is a really cool figure. Mm hmm.
01:04:18
Speaker
We got Farooq in the solo gear. So this was in that short period of time after he got kicked out of Nation of Domination when the Rock took charge. But before he formed up the Acolytes with Bradshaw, I think this one's a pass for me. It does look pretty toyetic, but I have no need to represent Ron Simmons slash Farooq from the era in my figure collection.
01:04:39
Speaker
This is such a weird chase. I mean, out of these four, I guess this would be the one you get a chase of, but I don't know, man, it's just such a weird one to pick. I don't know. I'm not a huge fan of it. I feel like they could have just picked out another Kurt Singlet to give us, you know? Or a different Farooq attire, like just anything other than this. I just I'm not a huge fan of those.
01:05:02
Speaker
Yeah. This Hulk, I know we've got so many Red Nilla Hulks. I freaking love this one, dude. WrestleMania Hulk with that. It's kind of like a hand-drawn American flag with the Hulk Hogan. Like, this is going to be... This will be my Red Nilla Hulk in my collection, dude. Like, I could not be any more in love with this one. I don't need another Hulk figure after this one, but... Does the shirt open in the front? Yeah, it's got the... It's the standard Hulk. So I'm probably going to hit a PWR lucha to get a...
01:05:30
Speaker
one without the velcro, but either way, dude. It's still green. Yeah, you just needed this one, dude. This is 1992 Hulk Hogan, man. The shirt looks great. I mean, dude, it's Hulk with a fucking American flag on his chest. What more could you ever freaking want? He's a real American.
New Legends Line Figures Review
01:05:48
Speaker
All right, some more legends. Finally getting Bret Hart dude. It's insane that we're 20 plus deep in the legends line and we're finally getting a Bret Hart figure. WrestleMania nine. This is the all pink. It's like a hot pink with the white outline. Really, really unique look for him. Hopefully we end up getting an entrance jacket when it finally comes out. But if not, we got enough Bret jackets that we can swap around and make it work.
01:06:11
Speaker
This has been this and Royal Rumble 94, Brett, were my two most wanted. Really kind of the last two we absolutely have to have. I love this figure. I know the head sculpt still. It's a Mattel Brett head sculpt, but I still love the figure. Yeah, I mean, yeah, I love the all pink. Yeah, it's phenomenal.
01:06:29
Speaker
We're getting Rick WCW, Rick Rude with the United States champion gear. Pretty, pretty cool, dude. Yeah, this is really good too. I like they, we definitely need more, um, Rick Rude's in our collection just cause of all the tires were always so good.
01:06:47
Speaker
Yeah, he's actually got a chase in this line also that we're going to get to. Before that, Justin Hogg Bradshaw, dude, this is low key, probably one of my top like three or four favorite reveals from Comic Con. Boy, could have put that on the bingo card and I never would have got to it. Yeah. And in saying that he's getting this elite, but yeah, I'm definitely getting this. This is really cool. Yeah, we need to give Hangman that epic trench with all the fringe on it, dude.
01:07:16
Speaker
Yeah, I love Justin Hawk Bradshaw. He had a really great Jax, bone crunching action figure back in the day. And like, we've gotten every other version of Bradshaw. You know, we got APA, we got the Acolytes, we got JBL. We got JBL as an announcer, and now we get the OG dude, Justin Hawk Bradshaw.
01:07:32
Speaker
I think the legends line should go to having one of these like obscure figures in every line moving forward. Cause I think it really for like the deep cut for the wrestling fans like us, like this really helps move the line, you know, like the Sultan and the last one. I mean, yeah, like we're never going to get one of those figures again. Like this, we got three minute warning last line, you know? And I, everybody, that was, that was the first figures that were gone at my target.
01:07:59
Speaker
There were still Hoggins and Big Bubba Rodgers the other day when I went up there, but those were all gone. We see the chase Rick Roode, which is some other alternate WCW gear. Doesn't look as good as the regular one, but still cool. And then, indeed, finally, an upgraded Psycho Sid, man. We're going all the way back to Elite 39. That was the last time we got Psycho Sid. What are we on now? Like 117?
01:08:23
Speaker
Like 110 111 the elite 39 was a decent enough figure but kind of had a goofy head scan this one looks freaking awesome dude Like I'd be cool this even being an ultimate edition if they want to just go ahead and upgrade it But I'm all in on the the Sid figures This is a huge huge upgrade for the sit the psycho Sid figure. I love this. It looks really good. I
01:08:44
Speaker
Yeah, everything looks great. The head scan, I love the vest, fits really nice. Dope. All right, some more WrestleMania 39 love going up to the next post. We got Seth from his match with Logan Paul. This has got to come with the entrance gear, right? I mean, it's an elite, so I wouldn't say it's gotta.
01:09:03
Speaker
Yeah, I don't think so. I don't think we're getting the entrance gear, dude. I feel like even if you don't have the entire long flowing Cody hat, give us something, dude. Give us something to go along with him, man, because it seems a little bare. I swipe over a really nice Bianca, dude. Again, I don't know if I need this for my collection, but it is a really, really cool looking Bianca, again, from WrestleMania 39. She just looks so slight. I don't know. They definitely didn't nail her body because she's very athletic and this looks like Sasha Banks or something.
01:09:29
Speaker
Yeah, it feels like all like the women's body styles are going back to the same thing. I mean, it seemed like they graduated a little bit from it for a while. But now it just seems like all the women body styles are the exact same again.
01:09:42
Speaker
Mm-hmm. We got a Hulk. This is a re-release from, I believe, that was either Elite 34 or Elite 35. We got Hulk from when he first came back to WWE, and this is like old man Hulk in street gear. Unless you're just a Hulk fanatic or missed out on that first one, I don't know why you need this. And then we got another Howard Finkel figure, which I'm not sure how different this is from the old Fink, but if you're missing the Fink, it's pretty neat. The last Fink was a builder figure too, right? Yes.
01:10:28
Speaker
He was a heel, him and Bad News Brown teamed up to, you know, try to win the Battle Royale. Bad News Brown ends up winning, turning on Brett and throwing him out, and then Brett smashed the trophy, dude. I don't know how you released this figure without the smashed up trophy with it, man. That was such an iconic part of that whole moment. Does it just mirror as this face can not look absolutely miserable?
01:10:33
Speaker
Why would they do it twice?
01:10:50
Speaker
I was just about to say this is not a bad face scan for Brett, as far as Mattel is concerned. Like this is actually... It's definitely a low bar, I get it, but I don't think this one's bad. It doesn't look like an old lady, which I think is an upgrade. It's a step in the right direction. Still got the cute waist compare.
01:11:07
Speaker
I feel like it kind of looks like that time Michael Jackson dressed up as Bret Hart. I mean, zoom in on that face, dude. Did you not get some MJ vibes off that? I don't know. Yeah, he's got a little bit of a nose, like a little super nose job nose. I honestly don't know what's going on with Bret Hart. The only time they've ever gotten Bret right is when they've done the old man Bret figures. Yeah.
01:11:26
Speaker
Well, and I'll never forgive them for just separating the word hitman on all their packaging, dude. It like, it bugs the freaking shit out of me every time we get a new Brit Heart. Is this one separated? Yes. It says Brit, hit, space, man. Hit, man. Hit, man. Hit, man. Yeah. Because on all the like, WWE official, like, communications, it's not like that. Yeah.
01:11:47
Speaker
All right, let's take a look at the
Royal Rumble Figures Evaluation
01:11:48
Speaker
Royal Rumble Elite. We got a Hurricane Elite. Hurricane, obviously one of the most toyetic wrestlers ever, but we got a couple of figures of him over the last couple of years, unless you missed out on those. I don't know if you need it. Another Hulk with the Hulk banner that he grabbed after the Royal Rumble 1990 when he won. Same thing. I don't know if anybody needs that one, dude. I don't know who's out there who was saying, like, I gotta get that Hulk banner. Cody from winning the Rumble last year. We got an upgraded Diesel.
01:12:15
Speaker
To me, the big thing on this one, dude, which is really kind of an F you to fans is we're finally getting an elite great collie, but he's the build a figure, dude. So you got to get this whole set of mid, I wouldn't say they're mid figures. I'm sure all the figures, but they're not, they're nothing that you really need. If you, if you've been in the game for the last five years, you don't need any of those figures, but you got to get them to get great collie, right? Who doesn't need that elite, great collie.
01:12:38
Speaker
I got to get this 24 hours of meth Hulk Hogan to get the great colleague. I just I don't get it man. That's that's a it's peekaboo Hogan dude. He's got the you know, he looks naked behind the banner. Like you said, they're all about money and they know you got to buy all four to get great colleagues. They're just going to keep doing this shit.
01:12:56
Speaker
There are people actually out there complaining about the choice on the great collie figure. What? Figured underscore photography says, we needed a long hair 2007 collie. I don't understand the choice with this. End of career, barely able to walk collie short hair. Come on. We're going to bitch about which great collie we can go with. I didn't know there were different collies to be honest, man. Yeah, I feel like he looked the same. Yeah. Somebody else said the great collie elite before GTA 6.
01:13:27
Speaker
Yeah, I got no beef with that collie figure I think it's great. I just really wish it wasn't a bill to figure yeah All right, Dudley's to pack these are money dude. That's the Dudley's I wanted. I hate the packaging I don't know why I just I was expecting more packaging. I like the packaging. I like the time. It looks very Jacks ass Yeah, that looks like something you see at KB toys man. It's like it's it's yeah, I
01:13:50
Speaker
Not that I've been a critic of packaging that's too big, but this feels like it's too small. Yeah. That's what I was going to say. It just seems like it's such, I mean, this seems like the same size box that you would put one figure in. Yeah, it needs a little bit of a side panel for sure. We know these are going to be Mattel Creations exclusives, dude. So I don't know. Maybe that's part of it. But yeah, this definitely does. They're showing no love to the MOC collectors, man. No, they hate us.
01:14:16
Speaker
Either way, really, really cool figures. The next two pack up, the headbangers, no notes, man. Perfect, dude. Exactly. If you told me Mattel was making headbangers or leads, this is exactly what I would have wanted. Agreed. No notes.
01:14:32
Speaker
Shane, what's your thoughts on the- Yeah, no notes. They look epic. I mean, again, they look just like they freaking shrunk the hay bangers down into little, like I said,
Must-Have Figures & Exciting Releases
01:14:41
Speaker
shrinky dinks. We're an hour and 15 in, Seth. I don't think you're going to get some in-depth breakdowns anymore.
01:14:47
Speaker
Yeah, we may we may stop after preview night and pick this up later on this week and maybe tie it in with the summer slam preview Because yeah, we're barely scratching the surface We got Imperium So on the preview shots, these guys only came with the tees I was planning on passing with these the fact that they come with the jackets need it. I think I need them now Yeah, definitely need it That's on the Imperium elite chain
01:15:11
Speaker
I think they look, I think I'm just like, I'm just taking them in. I think they look great, dude. I mean, but you know, it's. Yeah, they look good. I mean, I mean, I don't know. What do you want me to say about the Imperium elites?
01:15:24
Speaker
We got Yoko Zuna from the vault. He's getting a chase. The white with the red sash, that is money, dude. With the red angle tape, we're actually somehow getting a unique Yoko. He really didn't have a whole lot of combinations, man. I think I'm definitely getting the white and red though. That's not a chase. White pants is a bold choice for Yoko. I think the white and red is the chase. I think the black and red is the regular. The white and red's a chase.
01:15:46
Speaker
We just got two Yoko's like, good Lord, man. Not white pant Yoko's. I know. I don't know. The last one, we got the red with the white sash though. Oh yeah, it was red and white. Yeah. So we've never gotten one with that red robe. That red robe he comes with is brand new, like the all red robe. And then we've gotten black and a black and white check. We've gotten black with a red sash before. We've never got, I think the white with a red sash is the last attire that we need.
01:16:08
Speaker
Yeah. So I'm getting that one. Dude, one of the most valuable elites, Mattel just put a shotgun blast straight center of the chest due to it. We're getting a re-release of Straight Edge Society CM Punk.
01:16:23
Speaker
Yeah, this is super cool, dude. This is probably my favorite CM Punk figure I have. The first one was perfect, dude. It looks like a straight up carbon copy, dude, which is fine. They really don't got to do nothing to it. This thing's going to fly off the shelf. It's so weird not seeing so many tattoos though. It's pretty wild.
01:16:45
Speaker
We'll go through a few more and then we'll break and we'll yeah, I think Jordan kind of nailed it. Yeah, I think we'll finish up the We'll finish up the figure talk after our summer slam preview. We got Hollywood Hogan from the vault This is one I don't really like because this figure just came out like two years ago, dude Storm do this one to storm did this one? But this is they just did this I want to say and it was either 2022 or even maybe 2023 and
01:17:09
Speaker
the WrestleMania series. This is Hulk from WrestleMania 18 against The Rock. So we just got this figure. So obviously it went, it did well for them to re-release it so quickly, but I don't need it. And then we got defining moments, Shawn Michaels from his match with the Undertaker. So that's from one of the original defining moments. So that's pretty cool. I don't, I really don't care about having any chaps, HBK figures, but for those that do, it's really neat. Last thing we'll talk about, I absolutely love this dude, the Samoan dynasty pack, man. This is like,
01:17:39
Speaker
This may be the thing I'm most excited for at a Comic Con, dude. Packaging looks great. I know that my Avia Pack is absolutely rotting on Walmart shelves right now. I think this will do better, dude, just because this really represents a straight up moment, man. A moment that really kind of kickstarted the biggest storyline of probably our generation of wrestling watching.
01:17:59
Speaker
Yeah, I love the freaking, the elders dude, Afa and Sika, the freaking Ulfala, the packaging on this, everything is just incredible, dude.
01:18:10
Speaker
It's so good. It's wild seeing. Wow. Was that a play on words? No, I did. Sure. It's wild in its own. It's crazy seeing any Mattel figure with no shoes on because like look. No, just look at the feet like it just looks like those are some claw hoppers. They look like they look like hobbit Jesus Christ. Like they had to give them both forklift feet. Like what do we got going on here? Those guys, if they super kick somebody would cave their face in.
01:18:39
Speaker
I mean, how the fuck is that? Not the first thing that everyone noticed. Like I, I, I, I scanned it. I mean, I did notice it, but I just, I did notice it. You know what? Let me tell you, I've seen a lot of freaking Pacific Islander feet in my day, dude. And that it's not far off, dude, dude. The Island feet are big as fuck.
01:19:02
Speaker
spend a lot of a life walk around barefoot stuff. Maybe that contributes to the stronger, bigger feet. It's not even stronger and bigger, but when you go barefoot so much or you wear slippers, or as we call them, flip-flops or sandals, your feet widen. They're not confined to a tight sneaker or a dress shoe or anything like that, so you have big wide feet.
01:19:22
Speaker
She's saying these are physiologically accurate. I mean, I saw it, and I was like, damn, those are some big feet. But it didn't throw me off, because I was just thinking, yeah, of course they got big fucking feet, because they're, you know, a specific attitude. The way they got it posed there on that shot, dude, with Roman getting the ulefala. And at the time, when you saw that on that, that was held in the cell 2020, it seemed just like, oh, that was a really nice moment. But looking back, it's like, dude. Yeah, that was the moment. Yeah, almost kind of kickstarted the modern boom in wrestling, dude.
01:19:52
Speaker
Yeah, really freaking cool, man. And they're two in ones. They also got the ringer underneath. So I'm definitely snatching this up as soon as I have the opportunity. Really, really cool.
01:20:02
Speaker
Yeah, and could you put the young wild Samoan heads on the different body? Because I mean, obviously, these bodies are a little bit different. The older elites weren't as easy to head swap, and I think those head sculpts are carbon copies. I think they're just probably a bit different, better paint apps, which I kind of like the way they painted the old head sculpts anyway, so yeah. Really cool. All right, so again, we're going to make a command decision. We're 80 minutes into it.
01:20:26
Speaker
We'll stop at the end of preview night. Yeah, the rest of the stuff, though, should be a little bit quicker, dude, because it's kind of just you might as well talk about the three pack right above that one. Like that one's a hard pass just off that triple HD. We talked about it. So we got it. We got it. We got an Atari exclusive evolution three pack. I don't love that Batista. The Randy Orton's cooling up, but I don't need any other radio figures in my collection. And I hate the soft goods on that triple H kind of saying things that looks terrible.
01:20:52
Speaker
Well, I'm going thumbs down. How did they put so many soft goods on Triple H on that? Was that really fucking necessary? Soft goods on soft goods on soft goods. Yeah, it's like three shirts. We need this. I just don't get it. And it's ill-fitting, dude. Look how the suit jacket and the sleeves are coming out. The shirt is longer than the suit jacket sleeves.
01:21:14
Speaker
Just make it molded. You have suited figures. Just make it molded. I feel like sometimes because for the longest time, people hated on the rubber stuff so much and people were clamoring for soft goods that I feel like sometimes they feel like they have to add in soft goods to make it worthwhile for collectors, dude. But to me, man, I'm like,
01:21:30
Speaker
Just do what makes sense. If soft goods make sense for something, do soft goods. But I feel like they've come a long way with the rubber sculpting and stuff. The old school stuff was bulky and not as clean as what they do now. And they've always done suited figures pretty decently. There was no need for soft goods on this. I mean, it ruins that figure, dude.
01:21:51
Speaker
All right, so we'll pick up after the three packs when we do our SummerSlam preview. So we'll have the whole gang back here in a couple of days to do the SummerSlam preview and we'll kind of speed around that and focus on the figures because I think generally looking at the numbers, man, people tend to love our figure talk more than the wrestling talk. So if you guys feel differently, please let us know here in the next couple of days for that drops machine. Let's get into our listener mail from this episode. You ready? Let's go.
01:22:26
Speaker
All right, first question comes from across the pond, our guy Jamie Wills. Of three points of articulation podcast. Of three points of articulation podcast. He said, then to his credit, he sent this two days ago, so obviously things weren't, everything wasn't finished and shown yet, but he said, why is SDCC a joke to jazz wear? Did they just get confused? It was April Fool's Day, or showing off a three-year-old figure like Ty Conti, for example. Genuine idea that they had that no one thought to stop.
01:22:55
Speaker
I do still you know jazzers ended up rallying and having a pretty good series of Display of reveals and you know on this on display and stuff over comic-con I will still say I agree like they're kind of just butt cheeks overall as a company But yeah, I don't know. There's they're also a much smaller company than Mattel you got to remember dude Mattel is right there with Hasbro duking it out for being the
01:23:19
Speaker
number one toy company in the world. Even though Jazzverse is a major toy company, they're still miles beneath Mattel and Hasbro. So, you know, it is kind of unfair to expect them to put on the same type of thing Mattel does. And I think they ended up having a pretty decent showing overall.
01:23:35
Speaker
Yeah, for sure. I think that Briscoe 2-pack really got people excited. Yeah, the Sting 3-pack we saw. We're getting a Ric Flair. We'll get into it next episode on the specifics, but I think Jasper ended up rallying okay. I still got some questions on some of the shit that they're putting out, but like I said, we'll go into detail on Jazzwear's next episode. Thomas Kilgore says, what are five people you want ultimates of that we haven't gotten yet and what attires?
01:24:03
Speaker
Well, what if we just all do one dude instead of all three of us having five? Well, I, I want like WrestleMania. So the WrestleMania seven, the one that was a defining moments of macho never came out, right? Yeah. That's the one that he, his deal expired right before they released it. At least one leaked out. We need a, we need a three pack dude of miss Elizabeth or not even three, but just like three separate figure. We need Sherry. We need miss Elizabeth and we need freaking macho. We already got warrior. Yeah. WrestleMania seven, dude. I feel like we need, we need a miss Elizabeth in some form.
01:24:33
Speaker
Factor with that freaking star like the sparkly star sweater. Do you like how do we not have that?
01:24:40
Speaker
Yeah. Agreed. That's one of the biggest gaps right now. And we know Liz is under a deal. She's got her retro coming out that we'll talk about in detail next episode. Somebody that hasn't gotten an ultimate that I want to get one. So they're not under contract, and it doesn't look like this happened anytime soon. I'd love to get a demolition three-pack, dude. Axe, smash, and crush. That's probably my most wanted ultimates. And the elites that they had way back in the day
01:25:10
Speaker
We're great, but I just feel like they could even take it up a notch, man, with maybe having the gear sculpted on instead of being like rubber over the top. So yeah, I'll go demolition for my most wanted ultimates. Jordan? I feel like they need to go back and do more new generation ultimates after they did the new generation ring and stuff. I feel like there's so many people from the new generation that we're missing figures of. So maybe this isn't the best idea for the ultimate line just because
01:25:37
Speaker
I mean, you got to release people that people are going to buy, not just what the guys like me and you are going to buy. I know we're not going to get it, but I would love to get an Ahmed Johnson ultimate. I would do some things to get an ultimate edition. I'm at Johnson if I'm being serious.
01:25:57
Speaker
We talked about amids. I think people would be stoked for Ahmed. Oh, yeah, I don't think he's on he's on bad terms of there to be yeah Yeah, that would be money dude. I you kind of sparked my imagination with the new gin talk dude, too Did I think they could totally crank out easy peasy, man? Which would be really really cool and much-needed So a Greenwich snob Triple H right like the original gimmick of Triple H because all we ever got was that one in the network spotlight Toys R Us exclusive back in
01:26:25
Speaker
2015-2016 time. No, not the green robe. The red polo jacket type deal. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So you could do that with the sculpted arms and stuff. And then a heel 123 kid, dude. We need a Sean Waltman. He's deserving of an ultimate, whether it's his X-Box 6 or 123 kid. I think heel 123 kid would be the way to go. We haven't gotten that figure yet, dude. When he was part of the Million Dollar Corporation in late 95,
01:26:52
Speaker
early 96 right before he went to WCW, maybe in like that purple and gold gear he used to wear. I think that'd be money. I would kill to get like a gold dust in ultimate form too. I just, I think they could absolutely crush a gold dust and ultimately. Yeah, good call dude. Gold dust would be sick man. I can see that. That's a, I can see that freaking happening eventually dude. I mean, obviously, you know. Or imagine you get a Duke the dumpster Drosi in the ultimate form with trashcan and everything.
01:27:18
Speaker
I just I think they could really capitalize on new generation talent because there's just so many of them that are probably never going to get figs and it sucks because they gave us that perfect doing the Kevin Nash was the most Toyota. So bright. Everything is so bright. So cartoony. So
01:27:37
Speaker
He had the Portuguese man award, dude. You know what would be fire? Another easy peasy one to do. They damn near wouldn't even need to do any new molding or sculpting. I think they already have all the parts. Black and purple undertaker, dude, and ultimate edition. That should be an easy one. Savio Vega. Savio Vega would be money too, dude. Savio Vega is super toy headache, man. The body donuts.
01:27:59
Speaker
Yes, dude. There's so many people, dude. 94 to 96 is anybody in there, dude. The God ones. Think about Max Moon, dude. The God ones would be awesome. The God ones. Dude, Max Moon. We watched the first episode of Raw this morning, dude. Max Moon's wrestling Shawn Michaels for the Intercontinental Championship. There's never been anybody more toyetic to get less toys than Max Moon. Or imagine a flash funk in the white coat.
01:28:26
Speaker
Bro, yes, dude. Flash, dude, yeah. See, I'm telling you, dude, the new generation stuff is what we're, these are the holes in the collection. Think about how great that bone crunching action flash funk was, and then imagine what Mattel could do with that, dude. Yeah, and one guy that we really don't have a lot of figures of, and the guy just does not have a good backstage rep, so probably ain't gonna change, but like a spark plug Bob Holly in the racing jacket and stuff, that'd be awesome, but that's one we're not getting.
01:28:55
Speaker
You're plugging my string right now, dude. Like, yes. Dude, freaking, yeah. Sparky plug that you could do hardcore. The hairs on the back of sis neck are standing up for you. Yeah. You could do hardcore, Holly also, dude. Like, yeah, they're so freaking me. Think about Waylon Mercy, dude. How cool would that be, dude? Dude, Waylon Mercy. I'm kind of going past Ultimate Editions to just people to be cool to get figures of.
01:29:14
Speaker
But yeah, the new generation was absolutely the most toyetic, and it's almost tragic because that was really the time when there wasn't a toy deal, dude, because Hasbro had expired, and Jack's BCA really didn't get going until kind of the early rumblings of the Attitude Era started, man. All we had at that time was the Just Toys Bendoms, which, you know, they're just not real figures, man. Yeah. Zach Hertzer says, any figure releases that you were surprised with,
01:29:44
Speaker
I was shocked to see Golga did. Again, we'll get into details on it next episode. Jordan was the first person I thought of whenever they announced that. Jordan's been on the Golga train for a long time. I was surprised to see that they actually pulled the trigger on a Golga. The Cartman stuff seemed like such a critical part of the look and overall vibe of him that it just seemed like something they would never do, man. But we got Golga minus the South Bar branding.
01:30:07
Speaker
I was a little surprised that Justin Hawk Bradshaw got a lead, but I mean, I'm not mad about it. I was just, I did not think that that was coming out this weekend.
01:30:18
Speaker
Tony Barker says with collaboration what collaboration with other toy lines like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pairing with WWE What other toy line or characters would you like to see WWE tag up with give a series to Ghostbusters man? Ghostbusters yeah series one is still it's on display in my figurine right now. Give us a series two of the Ghostbusters We definitely need it Either make some more another round of wrestlers is Ghostbusters with another monster or just give us some monsters like yeah, let's expand the Ghostbusters
01:30:50
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, the problem is they've done so many already. And most of them have worked. Like, the Master of the Universe stuff worked. I mean, they sold really well. It's just. I don't think anybody would bat an eye if they brought back. If they just, you know, you could even, I love superstars. What if you put superstars on pause and brought Master's Universe back for a year and then switch back to superstars? The problem is they ran out of, I mean, they didn't run out of people to do, but it just seemed like they ran out of wrestlers they wanted to use for those figures.
01:31:20
Speaker
I'd be cool. But yeah, I'm glad they got back in with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, because those are still some of my favorite figures. I still have all eight of them. I mean, I love them.
01:31:32
Speaker
Yeah, those are awesome. I'm going to do a deep cut. I feel like we could do Captain Planet. Captain Planet. We could have either Daniel Bryan or John Cena as Captain Planet, right? And then you got Earth, Wind, Fire, and oh my God, what's the other one? Earth, Water. Was it like Spirit or something? No, Water. I thought there was a Spirit, though. Heart. Heart. Oh, Heart, so Spirit, yeah. You have Bret Hart for Heart. You have Texas Tornado for Wind.
01:32:02
Speaker
Yeah, since there's always water or hurricane for water. We need a now you're doing deep cut. We need a we need a power Rangers collaboration and the giant can be the Megazord like it just it'd be awesome.
01:32:17
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, if we could get like WWE, I mean, I, I'm not the biggest, uh, you know, like Marvel and DC person, but I feel like if, uh, you know, they could do like Marvel characters or DC characters with, with WWE, that would be super awesome. Yeah. I mean, I don't think that's even in the cards, but since we're just fantasy booking, you know, um, Zach Hertzler, do you believe in Joe Hendry?
01:32:42
Speaker
I think he's a meme, dude. Yeah, he's cool, dude. I'm entertained by it, but to me, it tops out as mid-card comedy, dude. I think he's Rusev Day, dude, or he's like a LA Knight type, dude. I don't think he's really over. I think he's kind of like, let's pretend he's over and make it funny, dude.
01:33:06
Speaker
Yeah, but I'm here for it. I mean, I think, yeah, I think, uh, I think it's cool. I think it's a, it's a moment. It's happening. Sing it, Seth. How does WWE, TNA, Jordan, I knew you wanted to sing it. I know you did.
01:33:23
Speaker
How does a WWE TNA partnership end in your opinion? Both go off into their merry way or does WWE buy the company? That's from our friend Tony Barker. Me and Sheena were talking about this this afternoon. I'm not convinced. I wouldn't be surprised whatsoever to find out that WWE already owns a piece of TNA, dude. I think they just, you know, WWE's got their hooks in TNA and GCW and
01:33:45
Speaker
I think that's kind of just where they, I think that's kind of how it stays. I think you kind of see a loose partnership between those going forward. They're working with Noah in Japan and AAA in Mexico. AAA is just smart, dude. He knows that one thing that Tony Khan was really ahead of the curve on
01:34:04
Speaker
was collaborating with these other companies and AAA said, we need to get a part of this, dude. So I think they're laying down their track, laying down their territory and cutting off some of these other partnerships that Tony Khan could have. And I just think it's going to be an ongoing loose affiliation type deal. I don't think we're going to see TNA become another brand under WWE. I just think that
01:34:26
Speaker
WWE will help support them and when TNA people really blow up, we'll see them showing up on NXT. I think the biggest thing is WWE needs AJ Styles TNA catalog. I think that's the biggest thing because whenever he retires, they're going to need all that footage and stuff. I think that's one of the biggest things that's going to come out of this.
01:34:47
Speaker
AJ's got to show up at some point, right? It feels like that's what that's, this is building up to do that. At some point we do see AJ show back up on the crowd would just absolutely lose their shit. I know you guys obviously weren't watching TNA when it was big, but I mean, dude, AJ was like the biggest deal in the world at that point to be like, to me at that point, like there was no better wrestler on planet earth than him. What Kenny's been in AW? Yeah, that was AJ and TNA dude. Yeah, it's crazy.
01:35:16
Speaker
Yeah, they're not gonna give AJ the sting treatment where they didn't get any of Sting's WCW footage for his going away. They're gonna make sure that they get the whole freaking catalog, Dave. You know, in WWE's defense, that came out that nobody from AW even asked. They didn't even bother asking. I feel like, I don't know, dude. I could be wrong on this. I feel like Triple H would've said yes, dude, if they would've asked for the...
01:35:38
Speaker
I think so too. I might be naive and optimistic and hopeful. I'm sure WWE would love to get Sting back under a legends deal at some point. Heck yeah, dude. I don't think it's happened for a while. Probably not for a while, but I wouldn't say never. Never say never. If CM Punk can go back, anybody can go back. Yeah.
01:36:02
Speaker
Jesus. That still might happen, dude. I'm not convinced that doesn't happen. Kevin Harrison, biggest omission from the reveals that surprised you.
01:36:11
Speaker
I think not seeing a big Papa Pump Ultimate Edition, dude. Yeah. Really? No other Rick and Scott Steiner figures. We didn't see any legends. Think about how Mattel went all out on Muhammad Ali, right? True, yeah. We got a Superstars figure. We got a Legends release. He was in that Mattel Creations Legends set. Why did they go so hard on Muhammad Ali? I've never understood that, dude. Because they got the license to it.
01:36:36
Speaker
I know they want to make it work. And it's going to drop off. I mean, at some point it's just going to drop off. And so they want to get every single one out. Yeah, they may as well make them all now. We've seen the same thing with Great Moody, dude. Great Moody is getting an Ultimate Edition. He's getting a Superstar. She's got an Elite.
01:36:52
Speaker
Yeah, the fact that the Stiners, it still looks, I mean, for all its purposes, it looks like these Ultimate Editions are going to be the last Stiners that we get, dude. So I think that was a little bit surprising, man. Other than that, I was really bummed. I was really hoping we would see Macho Man get announced this back part of the family.
01:37:10
Speaker
Yeah, I'm, I'm surprised. I think them announcing those Steiners, whatever that was three weeks ago was a gigantic botch by Mattel and WWE. That should have been this weekend. I mean, that would, that would have been the biggest figure reveal of the entire weekend. Like why would you do that three weeks before comic-con? I don't, I still don't understand that decision. I think it, I think that it was a timing issue and I think that they put too much stock into that AEW Legends documentary, dude. I think that they felt like,
01:37:37
Speaker
They were going to get a big boost off that when I feel like, dude, no matter when you announce the Steiners, it's going to be hype. So yeah, why not wait till Comic Con completely unnecessary. Kevin also wants to know what your least favorite reveal was.
01:37:49
Speaker
I'd say probably that Jim Nighthart. I know we've kind of gotten it revealed before, but seeing it in what I'm assuming is its final form, it just looks sloppy. It wasn't the worst figure, but I think it was the one that could have actually filled a hole in the collection. If they would have done it correctly, it would have been a cool figure to have. A proper Jim Nighthart that looked like the original Hasbro, Jim Nighthart would have been really cool.
01:38:13
Speaker
It just looks like ass dude. It looks like a bag of mashed up assholes. I think that Tiffany Stratton is the worst figure reveal of the weekend. Being her first elite, that is just disgrace that that's what they came out with. I mean, hopefully they fix it, but it's still bad. Yeah.
01:38:30
Speaker
I'm assuming that was just a one-off bad TrueFX paint app. To Sheena's point, the fact that they chose to display it is a little bit alarming, but we can't have cross-eyed tipping. Even when I just go to the store picking up figures, if there's multiples, I pick up both of them and I look and I'm like, okay, is there any imperfections on this one? Is there any imperfections on this one? I'm going to pick the best one to take home with me. I still say TrueFX overall has been a big L.
01:38:56
Speaker
for the WWE figure line dude if you go back and look i think it was like at least 63 or 64 now when they straight up nail it it looks really really cool right and it looks super realistic but i feel like the margin for error yeah there's way more misses than hits dude even though if you go back and look at you know the first six seven years the Mattel line the head sculpts like the face paint or you know the paint apps on the face they look slightly more cartoonish and more like more like a toy i still think they look better i prefer that look over
01:39:26
Speaker
There's something about the eyes of the true effects. They all kind of look like white walkers. You know what I mean? Like they look like a little zombie. Yeah. Yeah. A little just kind of like, yeah. Yeah. When they nail it, it's much more like I said, it's much more lifelike, but I, I was, I'm cool with the more cartoonish like paint apps on the face. Yeah. They're toys, dude. Yeah.
01:39:45
Speaker
Um, Kevin says, why do you think Mattel likes to infuriate us by releasing one half of a tag team was pleasantly surprised slash shocked. They showed a Hollywood brawn Hollywood blonde peelman, but doesn't make up for the rest.
01:39:59
Speaker
Actually Figure Tech has answered this a lot. He said, if they have the rights of somebody to the tag team, they're going to go ahead and release them and just hope that at some point down the road that they get the rights to the opposite guy, which I'm cool with. It is frustrating. Sometimes you almost wish you just didn't have them as opposed to only having half the tag team, but that's why they do it. They're just gambling that at some point down the road, it's going to line up and they don't want to wait.
01:40:22
Speaker
and hope that the stars align for them to get both people under contract at the same time. So I'm cool with it, but it definitely causes some frustration.
01:40:31
Speaker
Britt Sharrow says, is there anything worse than being broke during SDCC reveals and pre-orders? He said, I want them boys, dude. And I replied to this in the comments. I said, adulting in this economy is the pits, dude. So yeah, he's taking his family on a nice vacation to Kentucky. So on the weekend of SDCC, so it's like all the stars aligned for him to just be like, dude, I can't spare the extra change for figures.
01:40:59
Speaker
Hey, there's a good chance we're all on vacation next year during SDCC to just so you guys know. I mean, well, that'll be perfect so we can record our mini. So yeah, we're going to aren't going to be in the woods. We probably will have any damn service. We'll make it work. But if we're local, we can make it work. It doesn't matter. That's true. That's true. Yeah.
01:41:17
Speaker
Yeah. You definitely got to have some money set aside for this, man. Did the Briscoe sell out yet or are they still available? Still there. Really? Well, they made $6,000. That's much more than normal. $6,000 is a lot, dude. I don't know. I guess when I heard $6,000, I thought it would be... I don't know. I thought it would sell out quicker than that. I think they want to make sure everybody that wanted these could get them.
01:41:40
Speaker
Yeah, those are awesome. We'll talk about them next time. Brett also says, I constantly see people freak out that there's not enough being, oh, not enough first time in line reveals. I'm under the opinion that we're at a point where there aren't many first time in line reveals to be made when the figure isn't under a deal or the most guys that are not under a deal probably don't want to be. So what do you guys think? Yeah, I mean, we've talked about this pretty much every time we've talked about figures over the last, you know,
01:42:07
Speaker
It's 12 to 18 months, dude. Mattel has held the license for 15 years at this point. We've never, even Jax, dude, Jax went from 96 to 2009, so they were 13 years, dude. So Mattel has really held the license longer than anybody has, and the problem with that is at some point, you just run out of shit to make, dude. Me and Jordan had an in-depth conversation on this on the phone a couple days ago, man.
01:42:32
Speaker
You know, unless you get new people, even the new people you're going to get are going to be, you know, we'll touch on some of these like next episode, but it's going to be like variant, you know, gimmicks, right? Like it's going to be mid-card stuff that's kind of, you know, it'll raise an eyebrow and make say, oh, that's cool. But there's no like showstoppers, dude. I mean.
01:42:49
Speaker
I can't even think there's there really isn't like a straight-up showstopping first time in the line you get like you know it there somebody like barbarian would be cool or People like lod or demolition came back in the mix to be cool, but they've done everything dude. There's nothing left man like there really isn't dude other than just some upgrades on previous released figures or you know some some gimmicks we haven't seen yet, so it's just kind of the
01:43:13
Speaker
the cost of doing business when one company has a license for this long. Even if somebody else comes along and gets the license, like say Mattel lost the license two years from now and Hasbro picked it up, I'm pretty sure that they're going to make figures in the same scale and same standard because we're at a point now where
01:43:28
Speaker
It would be a huge blow to collect. Yeah, nobody's wanting to start their collection over to you. There's not enough room for improvement over what Mattel has done. When Mattel took over from Jaxx, it made sense to switch up the scale because Jaxx was kind of ass, especially those last four or five years. Jaxx left a lot of money on the table by not upgrading what they were doing with the classic superstars. They tried with Deluxe superstars, but it still wasn't the same as what Mattel was doing. I think it's just kind of the natural course of events, man.
01:43:57
Speaker
But even if, I mean, I feel like even if Hasbro got the license, they're gonna remake a lot of the things that we've already got in Mattel, dude. Like they're just, I mean, because it's different, right? Like it's- So I think one thing that Hasbro could do that Mattel, I was surprised Mattel did, I do think there wasn't a lot of current talent, dude, right? Like we didn't see, you know, no even renders of Wyatt Six, which maybe that was early. I feel like there's a lot of NXT talent we didn't see, right? Like none of like metaphor, you know, lash legend,
01:44:26
Speaker
You know people like that dude. I feel like I feel like we still went legends heavy and like, you know Updates on main roster guys. I feel like they could have done more I mean, I guess if I had a critique I'd say maybe give us more first time in the line for current roster guys I feel that too, but I also feel like out from a business standpoint They have to be judicious do judicious and what they put out
01:44:51
Speaker
Dude, it is for what they put out because they have to put out something that they know is going to sell, dude. You're right. I mean, Lashledge, for the people who are just taking all the deep cuts and trying to just complete a collection, dude. But yeah, I mean, nobody's going to be like, oh my God, I can't wait to get this dude. Yeah, I can't wait to get this dude. But I mean, the 1000th Hulk Hogan, everybody's like, oh, hell yeah, dude. I'm hyped up for that WrestleMania Hulk. Yeah, I feel you, dude, but I would have
01:45:16
Speaker
Obviously, we'll save our final thoughts on the reveals for next episode, but I would have liked to see some additional current roster guys first time in the line. How about you, Jordan? What's your take on Brett's thoughts there, man?
01:45:29
Speaker
Yeah I mean this is the thing is we're all always going to want the legends you know like we're always going to want the guys that we don't have like we talked about Ahmed we talked about other new generation guys like yeah that's obviously who we want but it's more realistic like you were just saying to get some of the current wrestlers in NXT and stuff so
01:45:49
Speaker
I don't know. They're never going to be able to make everybody happy. I mean, I think that's the conclusion we all came to the last year, the last couple of years when we did this is they're never going to be able to make everybody happy. So it just kind of is what it is. And they have their they have their model that works for them. They know what sells, they know who sells. And I mean, that's just what they're going to go with, unfortunately. And we're just kind of at the mercy of it.
01:46:11
Speaker
We're never going to get everything we want either because the business has been such a complicated, convoluted, dirty, nasty mess over the last 40 years or whatever. We're not going to be able to get the people that we want that we actually needed for our collections. Like Sessa said, demolition.
01:46:30
Speaker
There's two there's too many moving parts and legalities and stuff for for them to just just freaking give us that's what we that's the one thing that's going to carry over from the Vince era is a lot of these guys that either don't want any contact with WWE anymore or
01:46:46
Speaker
For whatever reason WWE didn't want contact with them I feel like that's one thing that's gonna always care carry over from the Vince era because I mean a lot of those relationships There's no healing. I'm like, there's no mending fences on a lot of those things. So Unfortunately, we're gonna have to deal with that forever. I I just I mean, there's just certain people, you know, it's it's not gonna happen like LOD and demolition are perfect examples like I just have my doubts that we ever get anything from them again, I just I
01:47:15
Speaker
I don't know, man. I feel like we've gone too far down that road at this point and those guys are pissed and their estates are pissed. So yeah, I think we're too far gone on that one. The other bad thing about it, like it's a good thing over all figure collecting, but it hurts Mattel is the rise of the secondary, uh, you know, figure makers. Cause now these guys can cash checks because from everything we've heard,
01:47:38
Speaker
The Legends deals are nice. Nobody's going and buying a mansion down in Costa Rica and living out their glory days off of the money they get from a Legends deal from WWE. I think it's a nice little check, but it's not something that you're freaking...
01:47:54
Speaker
you know become financially independent for life or off of dude and so now they have an opportunity to negotiate a bunch of side if I can negotiate a side deal with three or you know with with zombie sailor with grapplers and gimmicks with the the major bros and cut three checks from those guys instead of getting the one check from Mattel and WWE you know a legends deal I'm taking that all day
01:48:16
Speaker
For sure. And you know the creative freedom that you have with WWE is so limited, right? They're literally just signing these people. They're going to make what they want to make. Your input is invalid. Whereas I feel like if you work with these smaller guys like Zombie or whatever, they're actually going to take into consideration what you have to say and what the fans want and that sort of thing.
01:48:39
Speaker
Yeah, 100%. I mean, like, what would be the number for the LOD estate to be okay with them signing a WWE Legends deal? Like, I just, I gotta imagine that's an astronomical number. Like, they know how that stuff's gonna sell when they sell it. I mean,
01:48:55
Speaker
Like there's no way you can convince me that if WWE signed LOD tomorrow, they would not launch 10 figures in the next five years. Like there's just no way you can convince me of it. I mean, we talked about it before. Like, is there a ton of them to release? No, but they know people are going to buy them. So they're going to cash in on it. So I don't know, man. It's I just, I feel like a lot of the old guys, it's just never going to get fixed. And it's just, that's the world we live in.
01:49:21
Speaker
You just made me giggle imagining that there's not like a Michael Hellstrand estate in the John Lornitis estate, and that there's just one Legion of Doom estate. You knew what I meant. I know, dude. It was just funny, the phrase, dude. So here's the thing, though. The families have joined up to make the Legion of Doom estate.
01:49:41
Speaker
But dude, I mean, they're both going to have to agree to it. So I mean, you're right. It is kind of the LOD LOD estate. There's no way they're just going to take. You're you're 100 percent right. It was just kind of me like imagining like, you know, the state of animal and the state of the Legion of Doom. I mean, to me, that's an estate.
01:50:02
Speaker
Yeah, it'd be pretty epic. That was funny. Last question. Brett says, when ultimates first started, I never expected the line to grow to the level it has. Like me, are you going to move toward replacing elites with ultimate counterparts like Vader, bam, bam, boss, man, dusty, etc.
01:50:18
Speaker
I'm not a completionist, dude. To me, I actually prefer elites. And really, if I'm being honest, I prefer basics, dude, like the actual, the form of the figure, I'll take a basic over elite. I end up just going elites and ultimates because that's where you get all the really nice paint apps and accessories. So there's got to be a pretty considerable amount of meat on the bone for the upgrade for me to replace an identical elite with an ultimate. Jordan, you're a completionist, man. So what's your thoughts on that one?
01:50:46
Speaker
I mean, like we just talked about earlier, like some of these ultimates do feel like a huge step up. And it does feel like the best figure that's ever been made. But we use Dom for the example earlier, like the elite that was just released is better than that ultimate. I mean, I think it's just gonna be a pick and choose thing. I don't think it's an all or nothing. But I mean, I do think there's gonna be examples where the elite or the ultimate is better than the elite and the elite is better than the ultimate.
01:51:10
Speaker
I don't know. It's just everybody's got a different feel for it. And some people don't like spending $35 on an ultimate either. So I think that factors into it, especially now. I mean, you're paying 20 to 22 for an elite as opposed to 30 to 35 for an ultimate. I mean, that's a pretty big difference. So you got to be all in on it at that point to me.
01:51:31
Speaker
I would say the good thing on ultimate is even with the expansion of it, it's still a small enough line that it's totally realistic to just be 100% completionist on the ultimate. Whereas you're not doing that with the elite team without money and or space becoming an issue relatively quickly.
01:51:52
