Introduction and Episode Overview

00:00:00
Speaker
Welcome to Chick Foley show.
00:00:22
Speaker
What is up, Foley fam? We are back with another episode of the Chick Foley Show, bringing you our Wrestle Dream wrap up. We got a ton of figure reviews to get into, and it's going to be a lot of fun. But first, let me introduce the star of the show, Sheena. How you doing?

Podcasting with Pets and Kids

00:00:36
Speaker
I'm doing good. We have a lot of moving parts here tonight. So I don't know what this show is going to feel like or sound like. But yeah, we got some puppies that were puppy sitting. We got our kids that are awake in the office. We're trying to keep them preoccupied. So there's no telling what kind of run-ins could happen this evening.
00:00:52
Speaker
Yeah, we were puppy setting for my friend Dave's two dogs. So you guys may hear it'd be like, you know, remember we had the OG hounds of justice back in the early days of the pod. This is like, you remember in like, they're in the new generation when they would have like the new rockers and the new midnight express and the new black jacks, we get the new hounds of justice here. So you know, they try to make it the same, but nobody's really buying it. But these are some pretty sweet dogs. So you guys may hear a chirp or two during the show. Sheena, tell us what's new on the farm.

Livestock Loss: Remembering Stitch

00:01:20
Speaker
Well, unfortunately I have some really, you know, bad, sad news. You know, last week I was talking about nursing a sick goat, um, back to health. And unfortunately it just didn't, didn't work out in my favor. She's usually a miracle worker. I've seen her get up, bring a lot of animals that look like they were knocking on death's door, bring them right back to life. But this time it just wasn't meant to be.
00:01:39
Speaker
Yeah. You know, livestock, it's just one of those things like as they could be healthy and super vibrant and, you know, just not know anything's wrong. But it's kind of like a defense mechanism. You know, I think a lot of livestock, they're prey animals, right? So they just kind of like hide it until the very last moment until it's like almost too bad to where it's like, you know, irreversible. And when they go down, they go down hard and they go down fast. And our goat stitch, one of our original trio that we got, you know, two and a half years ago, it's been over two and a half years now, right?
00:02:10
Speaker
No, it's been about two years and change. He was about two and a half years old though. He got sick and I was nursing him back. It looked like he was on the upswing. He was making a comeback and then it just... Then it just kind of...
00:02:25
Speaker
it, what was it, Friday morning, you know, I went out there and I was like, dude, he's not looking good. And it was just a few hours later, he went back out there, you know, we were all going out there and loving on him and stuff. And then I went and did one final check and he was gone. And yeah, it just, it sucks, man. It's like one of those things that, you know, you know, is a possibility can happen anytime you're, you know, dealing with animals in general, but specifically, you know, livestock animals, you know, they're really domesticated and
00:02:54
Speaker
I think it's just, they're just not, they're not as hardy as we like to think that they are, you know, so. And the goats just hit different from the chickens, man, just because. I mean, yeah, it's a big presence, dude. We've had all together, dude, we've had 30 plus chickens through the farm, dude, you know, whereas the goats was really just those original three and then the babies this year. Yeah, and we raised them from, they were like little babies when they came to the farm. And so, yeah, and you know, for those of you who don't know, maybe you don't follow me on my personal account.
00:03:21
Speaker
We have a pretty small little situation real quick. Yeah. It's penny acre backyard farm is my Instagram. Um, we have a little half acre lot here and pretty much all of our farm situation is on the back, uh, quarter acre. Right. So, I mean, our, our, our animals are pretty intimate with our animals as far as like, you know, just on the day to day, it's not like they're out in some field somewhere. Um, yeah, we see them and talk to them every day. So, I mean, they're essentially like, you know, pets, right? So anyway, uh, it was a bummer.
00:03:49
Speaker
Seth and I, we loaded him up with the kids and we took him over to our friend Sarah's farm. We couldn't bury him in the backyard. A goat, even though he was a small breed goat, it was going to be a big old hole that we were going to have to dig. Without getting somebody out here to survey it or whatever, I just didn't feel comfortable digging in the backyard. We took him over to our friend Sarah's farm. Seth and I dug a hole under a nice
00:04:11
Speaker
Uh canopy of trees and you know, that's where he was born too. Yeah, he was born on that farm It was it was the farm where we where we got him so good resting place. Yeah, really nice resting place for old stitch Um, but yeah, that's you know Sucky news on the farm this week. Yeah, uh stitch you're a good goat Definitely going to be missed and we'll have a uh quick moment of silence for stitch before moving on
00:04:39
Speaker
All right, let's close up some housekeeping, Sheena, let us know where you can find you on

00:05:09
Speaker
Finally got the one the Foley Pixley championship. It's a ton of fun Yes, we talked about a bunch but for those if you somehow missed this where we basically have a it's like a mix of like fantasy football and Wrestling we just go through and pick every single match For all the big shows to keep her running tab and this season it ran from from Royal Rumble through wrestle dreams
00:05:28
Speaker
There's lots of little bonus picks in there that really keep everything interesting. It's not just the matches. It'll be like, who's going to bleed in a Moxley match? How many super kicks? AEW Wrestle Dream Review

00:06:47
Speaker
So we had AEW Wrestle Dream this weekend on Saturday. Was it Saturday? Sunday? I always forget Saturday. It was a long weekend. So it all ran down. Yeah, you know, we were planning on a nice chill weekend and Friday kicked off with a death on the farm. And so it just kind of like threw everything into kind of like a, you know, whirlwind.
00:07:03
Speaker
Yeah, but we had Wrestle Dream on Saturday. And I thought, I mean, I thought the event was awesome. I thought overall AEW does what it always does and delivered a great pay-per-view. The look was really cool. I loved the branding with like the snow-peaked mountains and like the water. Very Pacific Northwest. Yeah, in honor of Daniel Bryan, it was very Pacific Northwest. Dude, I thought they should have taken it even further, man. I thought they should have hit some vinyl wraps on the ring post to make them look like tree trunks, dude.
00:07:29
Speaker
Maybe give us some like green mossed ring mats around the outside of the ring. You know I would be here for that. You're already basically WCW, dude. Lean all the way into it and go all in on the set design and stuff, man. But I do like the motif. I want to see them push it even further next year.
00:07:47
Speaker
Yeah, I like that. Seth was saying the entire time he was like, man, he's like, I love this branding. But I feel like they just need a little yeti over in the corner. A little hidden Sasquatch dude just walking through like the forest every you don't need to you don't need to be around time just once or twice a night have the little Sasquatch like walk through the the the backdrop man would have been so cool.
00:08:07
Speaker
Yeah, but we're not going to cover all the matches because I mean, you know, in true AEW fashion, it's not WWE. They're not giving you a five match card. It's literally like 15 matches on this card. Yeah, we're gonna touch on the highlights. We had just an absolute crazy, you know, whirlwind match with Jack Perry and Shabbat that ended up with
00:08:29
Speaker
Lots of returns and lots of... We're recording this on Wednesday night, so we haven't really seen the fallout on Datamite, what's going to happen. So what are your thoughts? First off, we had Daniel Garcia, which... I don't know. What's your thoughts on Daniel Garcia? I'll let you go first. He's not it for me. I mean, I don't want to talk crap about him because again, I've been tuning in and out of AEW just because it's just... We're busy. We got a lot of stuff going on. So I'm not trying to say I've watched every... No, they're trying so hard to make it feel like
00:08:59
Speaker
He's a big deal. And like, you know, this guy is going to be a main eventer. It's going to be like a moment, like when hangman won the belt. I just do not see it at all, man. I, uh, yeah, to me, like he's a, he's a fine hand dude, but I don't think he's any kind of like main event level dude, no matter how hard they try. It's just, he just doesn't have, he just doesn't have the it factor. He's just like another, I mean, he's not quite like Kyle O'Reilly, where he just looks like he like, you know, rolled in out of the freaking streets, but he's just generic to me. He'd be awesome at NXT.
00:09:28
Speaker
Yeah, exactly. Yeah, he would be good in NXT, but yeah, other than that, he's just kind of like flavorless. But somebody who's not flavorless, we had MJF come back and the stadium went crazy whenever MJF's music hit.

Returns of MJF and Adam Cole

00:09:45
Speaker
What was your thoughts on MJF's return? Yeah. Big pop for MJF. It was great seeing him back.
00:09:49
Speaker
And then we get Adam Cole back right after you know and they did the they basically pulled the Roman Reigns face turn on me last time we saw Adam Cole he got booed out of the building MJF got cheered to come back and beat him up and now just because I think that being gone an extra couple months that absence made the heart grow just enough fond and we saw
00:10:09
Speaker
We saw Adam Cole get a gigantic baby face pop and chase MJF off, dude. So again, just like Roman Reigns' face turn, dude, this one is literally just because the guy's been gone. Now he's a baby face. Yeah. To me, it's just I don't want, I don't like a baby face, Adam Cole.
00:10:26
Speaker
I like a heel, Adam Cole. So unfortunately, I mean, and I know that's kind of how it had to be because MJF kind of naturally, organically like went back to being a heel, but I don't know. I don't know how this is going to play out. I don't really feel like the white meat babyface Adam Cole is going to hit, right? I like babyface Adam Cole, dude. I'm rooting for the guy to have a big comeback, man. I wanted to have a big comeback.
00:10:51
Speaker
I'm hoping we see Adam Cole as AW champion within the next year, man. I love Adam Cole. I'm all in on Adam Cole right now, dude. I definitely, I did miss him even more than I thought I would, even though he hasn't really, to me in AW hasn't been as great as he was in NXT, but I'm all in on Adam Cole going straight to the top in AW this time around, man. So hopefully he can stay healthy and we see some big things out of this dude.
00:11:13
Speaker
I hope so. Whatever happened to him, I feel like it took him down a step, even just seeing him run down to the ring. He just looked like he's just a little- All the athleticism has left his body. Something is going on. Yeah, I don't know if it's just, he's just, I don't know, he's just going on. Whatever had the ankle, all the athleticism leaked out of his ankle.
00:11:33
Speaker
All right, so moving on from the big, you know, return segment, whatever you want to call it, we had an absolutely crazy triple threat match between Takeshta, Will Asapre, and Ricochet for the... Which one was this? International championship? The international championship. International continental TNT who gives a shit, dude. But yes, for one of the belts in AW, the belt was really kind of inconsequential. This was an incredible match, man. I saw moves I've never seen in the wrestling ring.
00:12:00
Speaker
Yeah, our son was at his karate studio. They do a parents night out where the kids get to go and they spend a few hours there and do Nerf guns and all that kind of stuff. So Brett was gone during this part of the show. And we were watching this just thinking, dude, Brett is going to absolutely love this match. I mean, they were flipping and fighting and flying. And it was just madness all around. Mr. Roberts is going to give you a roundhouse kick. If you hear what you call it, a karate studio. What's it called? It's a dojang.
00:12:29
Speaker
a dojang sorry i mean i know i'm just messing with you yeah whatever sorry sorry mr robert
00:12:38
Speaker
Yeah. Crazy match, dude. The angle at the end was like, eh, whatever, dude. I mean, Kyle Fletcher turned on him. That was the blind lady up in the top row. The Stan saw that one coming. But just, you know, I know a lot, some of the hardcore WWE tribalists, they like to give AW crap for matches for match's sake. But sometimes when you do that, you get stuff like this, man. This is definitely part of wrestling. It's not necessarily my cup of tea, but I can totally respect the athleticism that was on display in this match and just some real
00:13:07
Speaker
Creativity from three of the best in the game and Takesha is the absolute stud, man Yeah, I mean I think well Osprey is probably the best like physical wrestler in the world right now Takesha is nipping on his heels for number two though for my money Yeah, I mean I thought all three of them looked great So if you didn't watch this show, you know, you have a way to go and watch this match. I think it's definitely worth your time What match you want to talk about next straight to the main event?
00:13:32
Speaker
Moving right along. We got Mox versus Bryan Danielson for the AEW World

Bryan Danielson's AEW Legacy Debate

00:13:39
Speaker
Championship. Also, Daniel Bryan's career is on the line during this match. Sorry, Bryan Danielson's career is on the line.
00:13:50
Speaker
This match, so ever since Brian has announced that he's had a weak neck, right? Years and years and years ago. A weak freaking neck. A weak freaking neck. I have just always hated watching people beat up on his little weak neck too, because I love Daniel Bryan, Bryan Danielson.
00:14:08
Speaker
as a as a human being and as a wrestler. So I'm always just like God don't and he's and he's such a guy who's like committed to the craft that like, I mean, he's gonna take the bumps. You know what I mean? Like if he's in there, he's gonna take the bumps. And he held nothing back in this match. I mean, they were beating
00:14:27
Speaker
the daylights out of his freaking neck, man. I love to see it. I can't stand Daniel Bryan, Bryan Danielson, the American dragon. I can't stand the dude, man. I've never been a fan. I thought he's one of the most over-hyped of all time. I mean, he is really, really good. Don't get me wrong. He's really, really good. I think you're off base, dude. But I feel like any talk about him being one of the best ever is just ridiculous, dude. Just say that you never watched any wrestling before 2005 if you think Bryan Danielson is one of the best wrestlers of all time.
00:14:57
Speaker
I don't think he's like up there and like you know the freaking Mount Rushmore if you will but it's just like I don't think he sniffed I don't think he's in the park bro and much less even up on there with the with the big four dude like I to me he I just think he's overrated man I think the fans got behind him and there's a segment of the fan base
00:15:14
Speaker
they just basically adopted him as their avatar in the wrestling business. Dude, Daniel Bryan puts on incredible matches, dude. What about his match against Roman Reigns? What about this match? I thought this match was awesome. I don't know what do you not like about Daniel Bryan. Other than his little weak suicide dive where he touches you with the fingertips. I don't like the promo. I don't think he's ever been believable. I don't think he's got that much charisma, dude.
00:15:38
Speaker
What about when he was the planets champion, dude? He was awesome. That was probably his best run. And then that got, for political reasons, that got, that got neutered pretty quickly and he just became a regular heel champ. The planet champion run was definitely the most interested I've ever been in, uh, in Brian Danielson, but dude, to me, the guy's just never been it, man. I, I sat down and watched old wrestling matches more than, more than anybody I know. I've never once sat down and been like, man, I gotta find me some Brian Danielson and fire it up, dude. I just.
00:16:07
Speaker
He's just not for me, man. Two vanilla, like I said, I just, just whack, man.
00:16:14
Speaker
So I enjoyed seeing, and Mox is my favorite in AW, so I enjoyed seeing Mox beat this dude up, send the fans home crying. Excalibur crying as the show went off the air, was just like the little whipped cream on top of the Sunday to make me laugh at this whole situation. I don't know, man, call me a hater, dude. I just really, I've never been that invested in Brian Danson, and I should have been, dude, because right when I got back into wrestling, it was right as the Yes movement was happening at WrestleMania 30. Like this dude was freaking on it, you know, never could be more over as a babyface.
00:16:43
Speaker
and i just never bought it and i don't know i'll stand by that man i i think he's one of the all-time overrated wrestlers ouch dude i just i just love him as a as a person i've i think i've watched every episode of like total bellas and total divas and all of the the shows and you just get to see a different side of him he's an awesome father an awesome husband um you know from from everybody that's backstage i mean everybody says that he's just
00:17:10
Speaker
you know, a good guy. So I just think and I mean, and I think he's a good wrestler, dude. So I don't know what you're on. I know you've never been as big as fan, but man, you just took like a big steaming shit on Brian Danielson, dude. He's a great wrestler.

Main Event Storyline Reflections

00:17:24
Speaker
He's not anywhere close to being one of the all time greatest
00:17:26
Speaker
I don't think people are saying Daniel Bryan is the greatest wrestler of all time. I've seen a ton of people calling him the greatest wrestler of all time. Get on the internet. There's a ton of people out there. People are high on him because he's at the end of his career, dude. This is it. This is the swan song. People always do that when people are on the way out. They look back on everything with rose colored glasses.
00:17:49
Speaker
I think I think you're looking back on everything with turd coat of glasses. Well, you know, I just think I think you're misremembering a lot. All right, let us know where we're standing. If I'm being too harsh on the American dragon, he's just not for me. So I enjoyed it. The angle was really cool, man. At the end, you know, a ton of N.W.O. vibes. But also do you get we said the same thing about the elite five months ago when they beat up Tony Khan. And that ultimately just fizzled out literally with no explanation. They just
00:18:14
Speaker
the storyline of the elite taking over AW one week it was there and next week it was dropped. But this was really, really cool. It seemed like very similar to that elite, you know, what the elite were doing, except this has got a much more violent, hard edge to it. And I just hope it goes somewhere. I hope it gets paid off, man. Really the
00:18:29
Speaker
Dude, that's been kind of the name of the game the last two years for AW. They'll start off with something really, really promising and really, really cool, but they leave you... It ends up just kind of fizzling out with no resolution. And ultimately, dude, that makes the audience stop being as invested in the product. We saw it with the Elite. We saw it with the Devil storyline before. I mean, their hands were tied a little bit because of injuries on that, but still, it's wrestling. There's a new episode every week, so find a way to pivot and keep it going instead of just dropping things.
00:18:55
Speaker
Do you think Mox is leading the BCC or do you think there is a, you know, a man behind the curtain that is like... Yeah, so you got Shane McMahon who is, you know, there's been a lot of smoke but him going to AW. That would make sense that he's, you know,
00:19:11
Speaker
to quote unquote the higher power. Dude, one more I can say this one, this is going to sound batshit crazy, but like I said, the elite thing kind of just went, you know, just disappeared. They stopped mentioning it. I think it's at least on the table that the elite and this new moxley click squad or you want to call it that they're actually working together, dude. And we do get like straight up 1999, the corporate ministry, when the Ministry of Darkness and the corporation teamed up and was this new like super heel faction with Shane is the higher power. I do think that's in play because
00:19:40
Speaker
Otherwise it makes no sense that the elite was just doing the same thing a couple months ago and now it's a new group saying that they're gonna take over AEW. But yeah, it seems to be all the cryptic mocks, promos and stuff seem to hint that there is somebody else on the way. There's another shoe to drop with this storyline. What do you see it going?
00:20:01
Speaker
I mean, like you said, there's definitely been smoke about Shane McMahon. I can 100% see that being the way that they go. I know there's a couple of other, I've heard the term bubble tavern guys speculating about Bischoff or Cornette or somebody. I think the most likely, crazy enough, I think the most likely scenario is Shane McMahon being in charge of the situation.
00:20:24
Speaker
Um, but yeah, I, the match I thought was really good. I liked the ending too. I think the plastic bag, I thought we did the plastic bag once. I certainly didn't expect to see the plastic bag back again. Um, but you know, we did it. It was a thing. Hopefully that's in the past. I think of the past cause.
00:20:41
Speaker
Yeah, it's just like, dude, I think Jim Ross kind of nailed it, man. You know, it was cool seeing all the baby faces come out at the end, but Jim Ross says that, you know, well, where the hell have they been? You know, you sit there and punch Daniel. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, he got his neck stomped off. Yeah.
00:20:56
Speaker
But all right, well, anything else you want to touch on? Anything that you liked, disliked? Overall, for us to dream, another thumbs up, man. I enjoyed the show, dude. I definitely, I don't think I've ever left the AW pay-per-view film like I didn't get my money's worth, and this was another point in the wind calling for them.
00:21:12
Speaker
Yep, and it's going to be even better when they go over to max. We'll get more for our money because we're going to be charged less, I think, right? Supposedly. We haven't seen any numbers, so maybe it's going to be like $45 instead of $50. I mean, hey, in this economy, saving five bucks is saving five bucks. Yeah, so I want to pivot to something else. With The Rock coming back last week, we're definitely officially on the road to WrestleMania, not a ton.
00:21:33
Speaker
of WWE news. We're kind of spinning our tires on this Bloodline deal. We saw Jimmy stalking Jay on Raw just to get, you know, push aside. I think we all kind of know that the Bloodline is going to be back together by Survivor Series. So we just got to, you know, we got we got a dozen show TV episodes between now and then that we got to fill. So I think the storyline is going to be drug out and true Triple H WWE fashion. But they're going to go ahead and do some, you know, some wishful thinking and think about three matches we each would want to see on WrestleMania for this year.
00:22:03
Speaker
So besides like the obvious matches? No, it's whatever you want. I definitely want to see Rock versus Roman. Yeah, I got that. That's top of my wish list. Top of my wish list is Rock versus Roman. I want to see Jade versus Bianca. Okay, that's one of mine also. We did not talk about this. We didn't, yeah. I'm starting to think we kind of fumbled it and we should have produced the same a little bit more. This is a straight up shoot right now, dude. I had mentioned this is seen as an idea for the pod, but we did not discuss it until just now.
00:22:30
Speaker
Let me try to think of something a little bit off. I just, what was your number three going to be? Oh, I was going to say maybe, uh, Jacob Fatu versus solo. I think that would be a, the, the, the team who bloodline explodes. Yeah, exactly. You know, it'd be a, the enforcer versus enforcer match. I'm going punk and Rollins, man. That's another one. I felt it kind of happened to you. I'm still not a huge CM Punk fan, even though he has been really entertaining.
00:22:52
Speaker
on this run. But yeah, I think that message has happened. I think it, I think there's a good chance that if all the injuries and the Cody cry babies don't happen, I think that there was a world in which CM Punk and Seth Rollins main event at night one of WrestleMania last year.
00:23:08
Speaker
But you know punk got hurt and then all the craziness with the the Roman rocks which ended up work I mean which ended up working out because we ended up getting drew and see and punk which was just has been an absolute win I think the drew and punk feud and Seth and drew had a great match and that meant tag team match on night one I think it's it's more memorable than anything else they could have done. Yeah, besides Roman and rock I think we're forgetting one one giant Match that we all want to see I think it's goon through versus Bret Hart
00:23:37
Speaker
I think, what would you do if Bret Hart just came back for one last match against Gunther? I think I'd be too nervous to be able to enjoy it, man. I would love seeing Bret being in the corner of, you know, like a Sami Zayn or, you know, we find a way to get Chad Gable back as a babyface between now and then. I'd love to see Bret as the, you know, the old mentor. That's a good idea. I was joking about Bret clearly, but I didn't even really consider him being like a, you know... Bret would be a good manager. Yeah, manager. Yeah.
00:24:05
Speaker
All right, so that's it. We'll kind of keep piecing together a little bit of a mania card. Maybe next time we'll pick like what tag team matches we want to see, but you know, it's mania season is going to be here before you know it, man. It's going to be, I think it's got the potential to be an all-timer this year. As long as everybody stays healthy, we're in for a really, really fun road for the rest of mania this year. And we definitely want to celebrate it along the way. We're not going to wait till March to start getting hyped for it. All right. Ready to talk some figures? Let's go.
00:24:48
Speaker
All right, it's time for the figure for this segment, as is the entire podcast is brought to you by ringside collectibles. Use code chick Foley to save 10% there. And we're going to start with a the newest set in stock at ringside. AEW unrivaled 16. I actually thought top to bottom, this was one of the best AW sets in a long time. It's too straight, pretty strong sets that they've had. Sheena, you want to run through the figures and kind of give you know, how many chicks to these figures?
00:25:15
Speaker
We'll do the hardy boy set first. This is when the hardy boys came back out with their classic brood look for one night on dynamite. Pretty cool, man. I kind of would like to see them with a little bit more color. It's a lot of black on these two figures, but it is a really, really cool set of hardy boys figures. The head scopes are gray. The hand poses are nice. These figures are a ton of fun.
00:25:35
Speaker
Yeah, these are awesome. Jeff's face paint looks incredible. Like you said, I don't know how I would score these because I prefer my hardy boys to have a lot more vibrant colors and whatnot. Yeah, a little purple sleeves, a little fishnet, something or another. But overall, I mean...
00:25:51
Speaker
For old man, Hardee's, they really, really nailed it, dude. We got the guns, another tag team. These are awesome. Austin and Colton. Yeah, these are really cool. Entrance gear would have put them over the top, but you can always do some follow-up figures. They got some more gear. For first time in the lines, these are must-haves. I love the guns. I thought that they've been one of the most improved tag teams across the...
00:26:10
Speaker
the course of AEW. Yeah. And you know, these guys are there, there's a huge bunch of color in this series because they have on these like turquoise tights. Like early HBK era, Shawn Michaels, tight style gear. Yeah, for sure. And like, Austin's got the headband and then Colton's got the sleeve.
00:26:28
Speaker
Yeah, just incredible looking figures. Next, we got Orange Cassidy with an absolutely unhinged, enormous belt across his chest, and also a very unstable backpack. It's like a duffel, like you would take the top of Mount Everest. Yeah, I appreciate it.
00:26:46
Speaker
I like the effort. I appreciate the effort. Jazzwares are just going to make big belts. That's just a deal. I've given up on them having properly scaled belts. It's whatever, but if you're going to not fix the scale of your belt, don't drape it across your figure like that. You know what I mean? I feel, especially for you most of the time. Well, I think this may be the first time the international title has been
00:27:08
Speaker
in a retail release. I think prior to this, it was just part of that. I may be wrong on this, but I want to say prior to this, that international title was only available as part of that Amazon box set. It was a really big deal. I think that's why they want to have it front and center. Yeah, I guess that makes sense. Dude, the backpack, there was no need for it to be soft goods, man. Just dude, you had a great backpack.
00:27:28
Speaker
that came with that hook, ringside exclusive, just find a way to repurpose that. I get it, man. If you're really catering for the little kids, dude, yeah, they probably would have fun putting the belt in the backpack. The zipper's articulated too, right? No, it's just there's no zipper. It's just a little flap. Oh, okay. It's a little flap situation.
00:27:45
Speaker
So I get mad for your kid, it'd probably be a lot of fun sticking the belt in the backpack, but I don't know how many kids are buying AEW figures. Yeah. But it's still really cool. This is the first Orange Cassie we've gotten that doesn't got the pockets gimmick. That was really, really revolutionary when they first dropped it. So I can point to that. But I feel like it's aged kind of poorly because it really, really limits the articulation on Orange Cassie's legs. And I think everybody was ready to just have a more traditional
00:28:08
Speaker
orange Cassie figure. I'm kind of, I don't know if noise is the right word. I wish they would have put the regular blue jean one as the main line and put the black denim as the chase, because I feel like I really, really need the blue denim with the regular style legs. Well, you know, AEW is great for that. They're always great for putting the wrong one for the chase. I feel like the black jeans would have made more sense as the chase too, since that's not a traditional look. It is a really, really good figure. I'm a really big fan.
00:28:35
Speaker
Yeah, and I think for me personally, I feel like the star of the set is this Julia Hart. She looks incredible, man. The coat's really nice. It's got some nice lace effect to it. She comes with her mask deal, her big hat.
00:28:52
Speaker
Julia is the coolest man. She's another one right there with the guns as some of the most improved performers. I remember the first time I've seen her wrestle, she jobbed out to Britt Baker in like 35 seconds on the first winter is coming. Yeah. What was her... Barcy Blondes. Barcy Blondes. I was like, what was her other... Yeah, Barcy Blondes Jr. and was it Griff Griferson or something like that? No. It's something... Griff Garrison. Griff Garrison. I think that's it, yeah.
00:29:15
Speaker
Yeah. She's been awesome with the House of Black, so I'm looking forward to getting her set up posed with Brody and Buddy and Malachi. Oh, yeah. You know, Brett's going to be stoked to add her to the little House of Black box. The rare is Takesha. It's a little bit of a bare bones Takesha that's going to be the first time he's in the line, but there's the fully loaded ringside exclusive that's coming in a couple months. Your mileage may vary on how much you want to go out of your way to get the rare, but
00:29:41
Speaker
This was the home run, dude. We've been hard on jazzwares at time. I thought this was a great, great set of figures, dude. You get three first time in the lines and three really cool updates of guys that we've gotten figures of before, so two big thumbs up from me. How about you, Shane? Yep, same. All right, up next, we got in hand right here, arguably the most anticipated figures of the year, the Ultimate Edition Outsiders.

Figure Reviews: Outsiders and Boss Fight Studios

00:30:02
Speaker
Dude, just a home run of a set, man. Yeah, these look incredible. These look so sick.
00:30:09
Speaker
The initial prototype shots that came out, dude, they looked a little wonky. I don't know if it was just an early build or the figure or what. The Kevin Nash especially looked a little bit weird, but what we ended up getting the finished product, I think it's the best figure of each of these guys, dude. The head sculpt, the paint applications on Scott Hall, the chest hair. Not to get weird, but the chest hair just really sets it out often.
00:30:32
Speaker
It looks like a mini sky. Yeah, they nailed it. They nailed the texture on the chest here, which is really hard to do. I mean, as you can see with the Seth Rollins that just came out and painted on. Yeah, these are they're just really, really cool, man. They look like.
00:30:46
Speaker
They look beyond action figures. They look like little mini sculptures of the guys. We've gotten some similar Scott Halses before. With that being said, this one really stands out as just an amazing figure. He comes with his scared, like wiggly fingers you did. I don't know how you would describe that, but when he would pretend to be scared of the giant and stuff, he comes with those hands first time ever. Really cool. Kevin Nash, this is
00:31:09
Speaker
A little bit of it's a remix on the, well, no, the Elite 16 was a later era NWO Kevin Nash with the blonde hair. These are from Bash at the Beach 96, the first night they were in the building. But we had Elite 16 that was in the same gear, but it was more big sexy with the blonde hair. I thought there was like a ringside exclusive that was all red. No, the ringside exclusive Kevin Nash was black and red. It was Wolfpack, but it was black and red.
00:31:31
Speaker
This one comes with a red vest and a fun fact. I'm pretty sure I need to double check I think this is the first time in action figure history that we see the original NWO logo on a figure so it's the globe being as the O and then an NW inside of it that was dropped shortly after for that the regular like you know kind of like Times New Roman NWO logo that we got that was the real iconic one and
00:31:56
Speaker
But yeah, I think these are a hope run. How about you, Shane? Yeah, like you said, they look like little sculptures. They don't even look like action figures. They just nailed it so hard.
00:32:04
Speaker
All right. And then we're going to do some live unboxing now. So we got these brand new case fresh. Yeah. So these are from boss fight studios. Uh, these are MLW fusion. So, you know, they had their kind of elite style MLW figures come out earlier this year with killer cross Jacob fought to Mads Kruger and Alex hammerstone. These are the basics. They're a, they're a sister line to the legends of Lucha Libre basics that came out over the last couple of years.
00:32:31
Speaker
We got the Lince Dorado of WWE fame and the Micro Man. Let's go and open these up and see how the build is on these. I've heard nothing but good things, but I've heard that they're really improved over the last step they put out. So I'm opening the Lince. You guys can hear that classic sound of a classic popping. Sheena's got Micro Man. Yeah, this guy feels solid, dude. You can compare them to the last step. You remember those boss fights we got? The Lucha Bros.
00:32:53
Speaker
He feels like, you know, he's a little stiff, but it's not like that Mattel stiff where it feels like they're going to break when you move the stuff. And it feels like, you know, when you get him posed, he's going to stay posed. These paint apps look really, really good. The Lince Dorado, I think it was much better than his, um, his WWE release. He's got all his tattoos. There's some shading. There's like some subtle line work on this. Like you made it from a distance. It looks like it's all red, but there's actually a ton.
00:33:16
Speaker
Really really cool detail work on this figure machine of the red is pretty cool, too Like it's almost like a like a low-key metallic. Yeah, and he's got my favorite kind of articulation No ab crunch no torso sort of like the ultimate edition just a straight-up block torso with elite legs and elite arms That's my that's my articulation model of choice. This thing is really really cool You guys may hear our kids in the background. They're playing video games in my home office. I'm not sure what's going on, but I
00:33:41
Speaker
Sounds like they're having fun. Yeah, acting like a hooligan. What do you think of this microman chain? I mean, it's pretty cool. It's like, it reminds me of like the, you know, the little kid Dom we got, you know, I'm a sucker for a little person else and figure it out be full disclosure. I've never actually seen a microman figure, but this thing is so much fun. You actually got like a little bit of like a pearlescent sheen to his gear. Yeah, which again, that's something else that Mattel has, you know, struggled with over the years.
00:34:05
Speaker
Obviously Mattel is the industry leader. They set the benchmark for all these things, but I love that other companies have been able to carve out a path to release, you know, new guys and do their own take on it and find little things that maybe it's harder for Mattel to execute at the large scale that they're at. And because they're making smaller batch figures, they can put a little bit more TLC and put some really cool stuff. Yeah, really neat. These should be hitting GameStop. All the prior Boss Fight Studio, they're in stock on Boss Fight Shop right now. But these have been hitting, this line has been hitting GameStop. So keep eye at your local GameStop, see what you can find.
00:34:38
Speaker
for these guys. You'll be able to get them at retail because GameStop's usually got some pretty good sales going on as well. That's it for Figured New

New Day's Future: Break Up or Unite?

00:34:45
Speaker
Sheen. Do we got listener mail? Yeah, we got a couple questions. Let's see what we got here. I'll start off. Our buddy James Modley sent in a question. Oh, he sent you a text. He said, basically, make the case for it. Why break up the new day? Why break them up? Yeah, make the case for breaking up the new day.
00:35:01
Speaker
I feel like the new day they have done everything that I mean they've done beyond what they were ever set out to do right like the new day We're never gonna throw away like last chance gimmick for a couple guys Yeah, the new day were never supposed to be What they what they turned out to be right they have
00:35:19
Speaker
gone above and beyond anyone's expectations. And I feel like they've done everything except breakup. And I feel like it's just one of those things where it's like, no one wants to see it, which is exactly why we need it, right? Like it's just, we love the new day. They're beloved. Unfortunately with the loss of Biggie, they haven't really been at the forefront over the last several years, but a couple of years. And, um,
00:35:47
Speaker
Yeah, I think it's time, dude. We need something to freshen them up and to start a new era of the new day. Yeah, I mean, I kind of like it. So you're saying break them up to start a new era of the new day?
00:35:58
Speaker
I mean, not like to start a new era, but for the guys. Yeah, for the guy. Yeah. I think you break them up just to set up the reunion, man. If I'm booking this, dude, I'm having... I book a breakup. We see a little temporary feud between them. And when it gets to its hottest boiling point, when it looks like these guys are about to kill each other and Kofi and Xavier are about to go across the point and overturn forever, saving the friendship.
00:36:21
Speaker
Biggie comes out and reunites a man and if biggie can't wrestle anymore We know he can still go on the mic and he'd still be a presence at ringside Let biggie be a manager dude lead new day for one last nostalgia run back to the belt Yeah, if biggie came to like yeah, I think exactly that's an exact path that I would take dude Like yeah have Xavier and Kofi just like fighting it out blood feud You know just like brother versus brother and then biggie comes in as like, you know the freakin
00:36:47
Speaker
Like when Bret Hart broke up. Oh yeah, maybe Bulldog. Yeah, 100% you see what these people do to turn us into a bunch of haters. Yeah. Yeah. Um, I think, I think we need to see it. Uh, TNT Tyson, Neil Trevino. What are your thoughts on motor city machine guns debuting on SmackDown? Didn't he send us a motor city's machine guns? He's all in on MCMG, man. Yes.
00:37:12
Speaker
I'm rooting for them. I feel like these guys would be done outstanding in NXT and I would say that as a As an insult to him. It's just you know small smaller more but more die-hard fan base It's probably gonna be more in tune with them all the rest of the the impact slash TNA crossover stuff has been hidden I feel like you could have them right in the mix for the NXT tag belts dude there's so much incredible star power on the main roster right now and
00:37:37
Speaker
I'm just skeptical that these guys are going to be able to really make even make a foothold. And it's just, I don't know, man, it's it's really makes that much more amazing what Jacob Fatou's done in the year he's been there because it's the WWE main roster. It's just it's a tough nut to crack right now, man.
00:37:52
Speaker
It is fully loaded and there's not a lot of wiggle room for new people to break through. There's not a lot of wiggle room because the storylines are so embedded and they're so full. You know what I mean? There's so much waiting to be paid off that we can't quit now. And Resume really got two hours on each show, man. Yeah, that's true. That extra hour of raw is a big deal, dude. That's true. Yeah. I didn't really think about it like that from a talent perspective. That's one less hour that talent has to be able to get on TV. And it's a good problem to have, but in the Triple H era, literally everybody's over.
00:38:23
Speaker
Hardly anybody is coming out and getting like no pop. Unless you're Raquel Rodriguez. Everybody that's coming out on TV.
00:38:29
Speaker
is getting a big pop and is over, man. And it's just, like I said, it just makes it tough for new people to come in and get established. Did you see where they're going to start pre-recording episodes of raw? Yeah, that's just for the next two weeks for travel because they had the European tour coming up. Oh, so that's not like a long thing. It's not a set thing. Oh, okay. It's just going to happen a couple of times in quick succession because of travel to Saudi and they're on a European tour right now. Gotcha. I was like, dude, what is this? How is this happening? Yeah.
00:38:59
Speaker
That's another point for Triple H on, you know, just making it, you know, better for the rest of the talent era. They hardly ever would have done that. Oh, no. I mean, they haven't ever. I don't think they have ever done that. They've had tape every once in a while, but it's it's very, very rare. All right. And our last question is from Sam Rosenthal. Which sees better days first, AEW or the Jacksonville Jaguars? I'd say the Jaguars because there's built in controls in the NFL for parody.
00:39:26
Speaker
Whereas in wrestling, like, I don't know, dude, I really don't know what AEW could do to get the momentum back right now. They signed all the hot free agents this year and somehow the buzz went down on AEW, you know, after signing Okada, Osprey and Mercedes. And I don't know, I think it's going to take, I think it's going to take WWE going on a cold streak, man. I think AEW's performance, because to me, the onscreen product is really, for the most part, it's been consistent, it's dipped a little bit. I think they're more
00:39:53
Speaker
the correlation is with WWE success. The more successful WWE is, there's just less eyeballs, less attention to be devoted to AEW. Whereas if WWE inevitably goes in a slump in the Triple H era, you'll see more people flipping back to AEW. I saw somebody really nail it, dude. Just put an absolute pin on the situation with AEW right now.
00:40:12
Speaker
And the reason they've been in the situation they've been for the last year and a half or so, they said they lost their biggest babyface when CM Punk left, and they lost their biggest heel when Vince left WWE. You know, because that was the thing with the WWE is, you know, Vince, we're not Vince, dude. Yeah. And I mean, something else I think we could do to like, you know, make ratings better just to keep Tony Khan off television, dude, like,
00:40:33
Speaker
I almost want to see him more now, just for like the car crash. To me, he's like Michael Scott turned up to like 15. It is Michael Scott. Season one, Michael Scott. Just so awkward. It's like, yeah, it's- Go back and watch that segment with him and Antonio and all these kids from the pre-show wrestling room. Cringe would cringe if it saw that. Yes. I mean, I felt my skin crawling off the bone. It was just like, oh my gosh. And I can handle a high level of cringe. You know what I mean? This was rough, man. TK said, he's a tramp.
00:41:00
Speaker
I mean, so yeah, because he did it, he like, you know, he spoke Japanese and then he like, it wasn't good enough, so he ran it back. Let's do it again. And then at the outro music started playing. Yeah, he's like, no, no, no, no, no, no, let's do it again. And you can like hear like a mouse fart in the corner in the arena as all this is happening, dude. He makes it so easy to just, you know. It was so bad, dude. I mean, shots, Tony Khan for all he's done, but yeah, he needs to just stay in the back, stay in the back, Tony.
00:41:28
Speaker
All right, that's it for this easy peasy episode of the Chick Foley show. We're kind of going to rush you off here because I want to see what this mock segment looks like on Dynamite tonight. And we're just waiting for like the mega powers in there to explode. Yeah, the kids have been in harmony for close to an hour now, so it's only so long they can last. Yeah, the dogs have been quiet, so. Hit us with some closing thoughts, Shane, and we'll get out of here.
00:41:47
Speaker
Closing thoughts, I just wanna wish one more farewell to my buddy Stitch, RIP buddy. Thanks for the memories.
