Introduction and Weekend Highlights

00:00:14
Speaker
What is up goal line listeners? We are back with the latest episode of the best football podcast going today We're back to our normal recording time monday evening. We got a double header football going on right now and It's getting ugly in detroit and down in miami right now So, uh, we got a ton to talk about this week, but first up got to introduce my main man. Jordan. How you doing? Good, man. This was a
00:00:39
Speaker
Another good weekend of football, especially for me, another two and a weekend, which rarely happens for me anymore. So yeah, man, it was a, another good weekend and we got a lot of football to talk about. So let's get into it.

Youth and College Football Updates

00:00:52
Speaker
Most importantly first off man got to give an update on the six you Arlington Tigers. We are still Undefeated five and oh we had our biggest game of the season so far last week We played the also undefeated Bartlett Panthers and it was a straight-up defensive struggle rock fight Whatever you want to call it man seven nothing We got the dub we scored on the first possession and then there were no more points scored the rest of the game So it was a battle out there, but the the boys hung tough man
00:01:18
Speaker
So hopefully we got a slightly easier game this week. Get back on the, you know, the blots are a lot more enjoyable than those close ones, but yeah, still undefeated, dude. That's awesome, man. Good for you guys. Glad the boys are playing well. All right. You ready to get into some big time football? I'm ready.
00:01:41
Speaker
All right. Let's, uh, let's talk some college football since last week, we had a kind of mini episode. Let's talk some college football this week. I think the first thing we obviously got a hit on his BAM in Georgia. I mean, I don't even know how you get a better game than that, to be completely honest. Like.
00:01:58
Speaker
That's just how the, uh, you remember how on the, they unfortunately didn't have that feature this year, but do you remember on the old NCAA video games, they had the greatest games feature where it would, uh, it would keep a ranking of like your top 10 best games played like from, you know, as far as like close exciting games, that one would have broke the scale, man. It was just lived up to the hype, dude. The atmosphere, um,
00:02:20
Speaker
was electric from the get-go deal. Like you could tell that, you know, to use a wrestling term, the crowd was freaking hot, fired up, you know, freaking Trump was there, dude. That got him even more fired up, man. It's just an electric atmosphere in Alabama, just straight up stomps them in the first half before a crazy comeback. But, you know, I think Georgia had to lead for maybe, what, about 80 seconds in real time. Yeah, it was fucking insane.
00:02:46
Speaker
Yeah. And then Ryan Williams, man, 17 year old for Alabama just showed out day. Like, I mean, it was just, he became, he became a star on the national scale in the, in the midst of one game. Yeah, dude, it was a, it was crazy, man. There's just, so what me and one of my buddies were talking during the game and he's a Notre Dame fan. I'm obviously a Nebraska fan. It's like, you know, like when you watch your favorite team and you're like, all right, man, we're halfway decent. And then you watch Alabama and Georgia play and you're like, fuck man, we're horrible.
00:03:16
Speaker
I'm like, dude, we could combine rosters and Alabama would probably still win by 30. So much talent. They're just so good. And I just, I think it's funny that everybody thought they were going to fall off a cliff after Nick Saban left. Like all I remember all off season is hearing people talk about like, I don't be surprised if they're down this year and all this stuff. And I'm like,
00:03:37
Speaker
Dude, they still have Milro and he's about to run one of the most quarterback friendly offenses in college football. I didn't understand the writing them off. Their offense is better now than it's ever been. Dude, they're going to be able to rack 50 points against almost anybody. They really put it in neutral in the second half. I don't know what they were doing, but when they needed to do it worked.
00:04:03
Speaker
Those are two really good football teams are both going to be playoff teams and I seriously cannot wait to watch these two teams play Texas and Tennessee in the next couple of weeks. It's going to be. There's going to be some good football being played in the next couple of weeks.
00:04:17
Speaker
It, uh, I think you nailed it too. I think Georgia only dropped down to number five. Yeah. And that's as far as they should have dropped. Like, dude, you can't punish them for losing that game. I just, I think that would have been such a shitty thing for college football to do. Cause I mean, it was just such a great game. I still don't understand why they played it so early. Somebody said they think they played it early. So the loser of that game didn't get affected at all. As far as the college football playoff is concerned, I don't really buy that dude. They could have played it the last week of the season and it still wouldn't have mattered. Whoever loses that game.
00:04:47
Speaker
Yeah. So what do you think was the truer representation there, man? Do you think Alabama is really a level above Georgia? Or do you think that they just got off to a perfect start? And what we saw in the second half is a little bit closer to the reality of these two teams.
00:05:06
Speaker
I think Alabama, I mean, I said this last week, I think Alabama is the better team because I think they have the better quarterback. And I mean, that's basically what it came down to in the end is Millrow made just a couple more plays than Carson Beck did. I think a lot of what happened in the second half was Bama's defense was so gassed by the fourth quarter that they just, you could see their corners couldn't even keep up with Georgia's receivers. So
00:05:32
Speaker
I do think Alabama is a better team overall. But I mean, that's no slight to Georgia. They're still really good. It's just, I think BAM was a little bit better. Yeah, agreed, man. I was really impressed with Jalen Milrow. Like I said, he's the real deal, man. Definitely one of the top 10 best players in college football. Yeah, dude, he almost had 500 yards of total offense. That's fucking unreal, man. He had 117 yards rushing and 374 through the air. Nothing to sneeze at at all.
00:06:02
Speaker
Um, we do have to talk about

NFL Team Performances and Predictions

00:06:04
Speaker
it. Like it's, it's starting to, to brew a little bit more. We have to talk about Colorado, especially after our buddy James Mosley last week said, Colorado was going to get upset. Like, I don't know how you're not right, dude.
00:06:19
Speaker
They shouldn't be ranked. The, the one really good team they pull. I mean, the one good team they played was Nebraska and they got smoked in that game. They should not be. UCF was supposed to be good. They were not. UCF wasn't ranked. Did UCF beat TCU by two points last week? Like they were favored over by 14 or what did I say when that, when, when we were done reading James Mosley's comment, I was like, there's no way UCF should be favored by 14 dude. They're not that good.
00:06:47
Speaker
And I Colorado was off this week. They got their next game is Kansas state coming to Boulder, man. That that's going to be a big game. Look at their schedule now, like their, their schedule moving forward is about to get a lot harder. So we'll actually find out if they're anybody, cause they play all the ranked teams in the big 12, I think in the next like six weeks. So they, uh,
00:07:06
Speaker
They definitely cleaned some stuff up from those first two weeks, man. Maybe it is just a level competition, but they've generally looked better, dude. They look like they're functional on both lines. I watched a lot of the game a couple of weeks back, man, with the Hail Mary, and then I watched a lot of that game on Saturday against UCF.
00:07:27
Speaker
They look like a football team and they don't look like a badly coached high school team anymore. Um, and you know, she do her special and did Travis Hunter might, you know, we talked about Jalen Millroy being top 10 Travis Hunter might be the best football player in college football. He's definitely going to be up there at the end of the season. I mean, it's really hard to ignore what he's doing. I still think if I'm him, like by the end, and I know he's not going to do it because he's just too proud of himself, but did I, if I was him, I'd focus a hundred percent on offense. Cause that's where he's going to make his money in the NFL.
00:07:57
Speaker
You think so, man? I've heard some people say they think defense. I agree with you, man. I think he's a little bit better on offense than on defense. There's just no reason to play him both ways in the NFL. As cool as it would be, there's just not a reason for it, man. He's not good enough at either side that you would want a guy out there every single play in the NFL. And I feel like he's a slightly better receiver than he is a DB.
00:08:20
Speaker
Also dude, NFL playing both ways like there's just no fucking way you get destroyed. The level of athlete you're going against the NFL is completely different than what you're playing against in college. I mean, look how many guys go to the NFL that are like college all Americans and no do shit in the NFL like
00:08:38
Speaker
it's completely different level of, of ball when you're playing in the NFL. And I just, I, if I'm him, I would definitely play receiver. There's no way I'd flirt with both, but I'd be looking at receiver. Um, yeah, I just, I mean, he really wanted to, if it was like something that he was just had his mindset on, maybe you have a package on defense, you know, a certain nickel or dime package where he comes in, but
00:09:00
Speaker
I just don't see the need for it. Like he said, the thing on the NFL, the difference between the superstars and just the average starters, it's not as big of a gap as it is in college. So the benefit would just not be worth the risk for him to do it in the pros.
00:09:16
Speaker
So I'm looking at their schedule now and the big 12 is clearly not as good as what we thought it was going to be. So they got a bye week this week. Then they got K state. Then they're at Arizona, Cincinnati at home, at Texas tech, Utah, at Kansas, and then Oklahoma state. Do they actually might win like seven or eight games?
00:09:39
Speaker
Yeah, I think you know, we were definitely wrong man. We had wrote them off dude I was thinking they were gonna be something, you know, like a Two or three win team, dude, they're not that man. These guys can play some football and it's gonna you know, if they beat k-state watch out They're gonna be back up in the top. I will make a guarantee right now. They are not beating k-state that team No, it's gonna be 0-0 when the game starts dude. You we can put money on that game right now I will bet you a thousand dollars k-state wins that game
00:10:06
Speaker
Dude, K state plays a different level of football that Colorado is not ready for them. Yeah. Avery Johnson's a beast out there. They have corrected some things, but like the level of competition that they've played in the last three weeks is nowhere near the level of competition. They're about to play against K state. Like it's, they're going up a level to play K state. Definitely.
00:10:26
Speaker
Um, I don't really Tennessee didn't play this week. Nebraska one. It was ugly, but you know what, man, they're four and one wins a win. Um, got everything ahead of them still. So we don't really need to touch on it. Um, let's go into some NFL news. First thing we're going to talk about obviously is the Falcons dude. That was one of the ugliest played football games I think I've ever watched in my life for both teams. It just, it was not good football at all. It was just.
00:10:55
Speaker
I mean, it's kind of what you expect from a rivalry game though. Like there's just a lot of hard hitting and, um, yeah, it was just a good game. And, uh, I have no idea. I still have no idea how they won that game cousins under throw somebody, the guy from the saints. So basically close lines Mooney, they get the ball at the 40 and then run three of the worst plays I've ever seen in my life and settle for a 58 yard young Hoku field goal, which.
00:11:26
Speaker
Dude, the way he's been kicking lately, I'm like, I didn't think he had 58 in him. I thought like the max was like 52 to 53. When they tried him out there, I'm like, this dude looks really confident to kick this. I mean, you know, you watch a kicker a lot of times and they like do those warm up kicks. They swing their legs and stuff. And you're like,
00:11:44
Speaker
Oh, God, these guys do not look confident. He smoked that ball. It was it was good from 60 easily. So yeah, anytime you beat them, that's a good win. I am really starting to have concerns about the Falcons offense, though. I just didn't look great. Dude, cousins still does not look like he has this timing at all. And his deep ball just is not there. He's under throwing so many balls.
00:12:12
Speaker
It seems like Mooney in an offense with Drake London, Kyle Pitts and Bijon dude, it seems like Mooney has become his like security blanket. I feel like he was just locked on him like a laser beam, that whole two minute drill at the end. He's got the burners. The other thing is that they really locked in on just throwing the ball, which I thought was extremely dumb. The first half they barely even ran the ball. I just, I don't get what they're doing.
00:12:37
Speaker
dude, Kyle Pitts is a generational bus. That dude is very, he was good that first year with Matt Ryan. There is no more excuses though. Like I was watching him. He plays like he's like five eight. He does not play his size at all. There was a couple of times I just want him, watched him get muscled down by a saints defender. It's just very soft.
00:12:57
Speaker
It's just like, dude, I mean, you finally got what you want. You got a quarterback that can throw you the ball. You got a coach that wants to get you the ball. And it seems like every time they throw it to him, he makes no effort to go after it. I just, I don't know that that's not looking good. And this was the first week that I honestly thought it looked like they made a mistake drafting Bijon too, which it could be just one game. I mean, it's just, it's one of those things, but
00:13:20
Speaker
Like, dude, the more I started selling off my Bijon stock a couple weeks ago, you know, we had the conversation texting back and forth. Not that I think he's a top level starting running back in the NFL for sure, but I just don't, you know, as time goes on, it's starting to look more and it's easy to have hindsight. We love the pick last preseason.
00:13:41
Speaker
But I really don't feel like he's been worth the number eight pick in the draft. I feel like Al Giers gives you about 90% of what Bijon gives you when he's on the field. It's not even that, dude. I realized it watching that game yesterday.
00:13:56
Speaker
It's not even that Algier is just as good. It's not that at all. Algier is built to run in the Rams offense, which is what they're running now. Like that's the type of running he's built to do. Bijan is more of like a zone running back, like where he just kind of gets to pick a spot, you know?
00:14:14
Speaker
When the line is blocking, it's not a zone blocking scheme. They're just blocking. You can't cut back. Dude, you have to follow the gap. And that's what you have to run through. His running style is to cut back and create it himself, which he's great at it. But the problem is this is not the offense for that. And the other thing,
00:14:35
Speaker
Zach Robinson runs one more fucking screen to Darnell Mooney. I'm going to freak the fuck out. They've ran that play like nine times and I think it's got to combine five yards. I don't know what his infatuation with running screenplays is, but he's got a real infatuation with it.

Player Spotlights and Team Dynamics

00:14:51
Speaker
Hey something i was gonna ask you man so i was listening to the end of the falcons and saints as we were driving back from a trip up to uh to kentucky over the weekend yesterday man it kind of dawned on me dude is is young way ku is he the defining falcon of the 20s you know the last of this decade dude
00:15:12
Speaker
I mean, who else would you put up there above him, dude? You got Grady Jackson. I feel like he's missed so much time for injuries that really nobody on offense because Matt Ryan was only there 2020 and 2021, man. I mean, we're halfway through the twenties, dude is, is I think young way. Coos got a serious argument is Falcon of the decade at this point.
00:15:29
Speaker
I mean, it's kind of hard to argue. Like he's, I mean, he's their most productive player. Like it's either, it has to be either him, Grady Jarrett, dude, what Jesse Bates has done in his. He's been good. He's going to make a case for it by the time it's done. But I feel like you got to have at least about four years to be player of the decade. So it's hard, it's hard to award it. You know, obviously we still got half the decade left to go, but for the first five years, dude, I think who's got it, man. You don't think it's Marcus Mariota?
00:15:58
Speaker
definitely the best player that they've had over this period, but I just, he's, you know, the, the best abilities, availability, and I feel like you can't really rely on him being there nowadays. Yeah. I mean, it is true. Like, but coup is just.
00:16:14
Speaker
I don't know, man, even when it seems like he's shaky, he's still one of the top kickers. Somebody was talking about yesterday. Somebody said something about the Chargers not having a kicker and that's who they released for the Falcons to get him. It's like, dude, the Chargers might have the worst luck of any team in NFL history. Like, oh, we'll cut this guy. He can't do anything. And then all of a sudden he turns into an all pro. He's got like the third highest kicking percentage in NFL history.
00:16:40
Speaker
Having a reliable kicker is such, it's just a good warm feeling. You think about back in the Falcons glory days, dude, how great it felt having Matt Bryant trotting out there for the field goals. I mean, every once in a blue moon, he'd miss, but you knew it was bang on. We're getting three points, man. If we do get stalled, we always knew we're at least getting three. I mean, his name was Money Matt for a reason. You knew it was going down the middle of the pipes, no matter what.
00:17:06
Speaker
Um, let's, uh, move on from the Falcons. Great game. And the saints be an absolute dog shit. And, uh, let's talk about that. One more thing, dude. One more. Sorry. I know we've been going heavy on Falcon saints, dude. Did you see some of the fights in the stands yesterday? Oh my God. It was like getting warfare at the Falcons and saints. It was Falcons fan on Falcons. Yeah. Somebody said, yeah, you know why they're fighting? Cause they can't even see the fucking field. They're sitting on the roof.
00:17:32
Speaker
Yeah, do not do not go to the upper deck at a Mercedes-Benz Stadium and it got rowdy in there, dude I tell people a time to don't be talking shit at a football game That is the number one place somebody gets their ass beat is that a football game people got the passion flowing alcohols flowing it's just you know, especially with all the how easy it is to bet on sports now a lot of people
00:17:55
Speaker
got money that's riding on these, just adding, you know, add an injury to the insult of paying that and tickets are so expensive too, dude. So you're shelling out, you know, between, between food, beers, tickets, dude, if you're there with your family, dude, you're probably pushing three bills easily. Then if, and you know, you pay that money to watch your teams, I think you're asking more than that, dude. Yeah. That's if you're in the end up in the cheap seats. And I'll probably see that a Falcons game right now is like one 50.
00:18:20
Speaker
Yeah, it's, uh, it's ridiculous, man. They've made it so hard to go to a game with like your family and stuff. I mean, it's, it's almost too expensive now to go to a game. So if you spend that money and, uh, get your ass beat to watch your team, get their ass kicked. Yeah. You're not going to need much of an excuse to swing on a motherfucker.
00:18:37
Speaker
All right, again, let's move on from the Saints being the worst organization in the NFL to a team that's not the worst organization. Let's talk about the Chiefs. I know we talk about them every week, but this week we really got to talk about them.
00:18:50
Speaker
Dude, if that was not a microcosm of their offense yesterday when Mahomes basically sounds like poor Rishi Rice's ACL. I launched right into him, dude. First of all, what the fuck is Mahomes doing, dude? You're a $550 million quarterback. You should be nowhere near tackling anyone.
00:19:13
Speaker
I get what I was a oh my gosh the fact the Titan just intercepted the two-point attempt from the dolphins the Yeah, if I was if I'm a high school coach, I'm showing that film on exactly how not to tackle He wasn't looking at his target like straight up, dude He turns his head away and just dives in with the shoulder I get it He's trying to be safe going for the tackle But dude, it's one of the worst examples of friendly fire I've ever seen in all my years of watching football. I
00:19:39
Speaker
Yeah, and the Chiefs didn't need anything else to go wrong on offense. And then that happens. Somebody was talking about it yesterday. I, I, does this offense ever get going now? Like they just lost Rashid Rice. Travis Kelsey did look better yesterday, but I mean, they just lost their number one weapon by far. Like he was clearly Mahomes favorite target. And I think that's what got Kelsey involved is because Rashid Rice is just gone now. Like I,
00:20:07
Speaker
I don't know, man. I just, I do not, I'm not getting the warm and fuzzies from watching this team. They're four and Oh, but this is a mediocre at best four and Oh, I don't really know what else to say about it.
00:20:21
Speaker
It hasn't looked great man, especially after the, uh, the first two weeks, but, um, I don't know, dude, I'm really not. Yeah, there's still four and oh, and it's not like, I don't, I think if they did get involved in a shootout, I feel like they could go possession for possession. I don't do it. Mahomes has made more bad throws this year than I've ever seen him make. Like he is turning the ball over pretty state. He's gotten picked off every single game this year already. Yeah.
00:20:47
Speaker
Like he's making really bad reads on a lot of throws, which you never saw him do before. They just, they don't have a running game at all. They, I don't know, dude, I, I feel like they looked worse than this last year though. And we still saw him turn off in the playoffs. Dude, he was averaging like two 60 a game last year at this point. Like he's averaging like one 80 right now a game. Like
00:21:09
Speaker
I don't know. To me, they look way worse than they were losing though. I mean, they were losing games in the middle of the season last year. I do. A lot of this is on their defense though, is why they're winning games. Like their defense is playing balls to the wall every game. Like, I don't know, man, this, it's just a weird team to watch. Like I'm not saying any chief's fans should be completely panicking right now. They're four and Oh, but I mean, there's definitely reason to, to raise a bit of a red flag with the way their offense has ran this season.
00:21:37
Speaker
Offense got a ton of room for improvement, but I have no reason to believe that it's Patrick Holmes. Like, dude, he's going to do something eventually. They're going to be hitting on all cylinders by the time the playoffs run around. Let's talk about the Vikings. Dude, is anybody ever going to stop doubting this team? Like they're for real, man. Oh, yeah. Legit. They're the real attackers team. Darnell looked great once again. Like I said, I think Darnell was front runner for MVP right now. He's he's a cover boy for the podcast this week.
00:22:06
Speaker
Vikings are a tough team, dude. They're going to be right there in the mix for any type of, any level of success in the NFC. I think they could assume that they all stay healthy. I would not, they totally have a chance at one of the NFC this year. Justin Jefferson needs like 450 yards receiving the rest of the year.
00:22:25
Speaker
Um, to break the, the mark for first five seasons receiving yards to beat out Jerry Rice, dude, if he gets like 700 more yards, he'll have 6,000 through his first five seasons and he didn't play 12 games last year.
00:22:40
Speaker
Yeah. Like, dude, he's on like a, like beyond record setting pace for a receiver right now. So if that dude stays healthy, man, it's fun to watch. And it is cool to watch. Darnold dude, just, just seeing him out there with like a competent offensive coordinator. And I'm sorry, man. After watching that game, the Packers were fucking stupid letting Aaron Jones leave. That was a stupid decision, dude. He is so much better than Josh Jacobs. I just, I don't get it.
00:23:10
Speaker
I tell you what, man, we talked about, you know, Darnold earning a free agency contract. Dude, I'm starting to think, if he keeps this up, maybe J.J. McCarthy is going to be the backup next year, and they just stash him and see what happens next season, man. Dude, if he keeps playing this well all year, if he does this all year, you have to bring him back next year. Yeah. Like, you can't just, like, be like, oh, man, that was a good bridge year. I don't know if I'd pay him a ton of money. I'd maybe give him, like, a two-year deal. I'm definitely not giving him no five-year deal.
00:23:37
Speaker
as great as he has played this year and he has been great. He has proven in the past that he's a liability. So like I talk about contract years all the time. Guys on contract, I'm a prove it deal. Yeah. Guys on contract years are dangerous people. Like it's a, it's like the Gene Hackman quote from the replacement. There is no tomorrow. So it makes you a very dangerous person. Like that's what Sam Darnold is playing like right now. So
00:24:02
Speaker
I don't know, man. I don't think I would give him a long term deal, but I think you're going to have to bring him back if he keeps playing like this. Let's move on to three really not good things. The Jaguars. How the fuck have they not fired Doug Peterson yet? Like, dude, what are you waiting on? There's still hope for the season, dude. I mean, it's not looking great anyways, but if you could get a spark, they blew another double. They blew another seven point lead yesterday, dude. They're just.
00:24:31
Speaker
They don't look competitive. That's the thing, dude. They don't, they're not, it's not like it doesn't seem like they're like going down swinging and having hard fought losses. Like they are looking like a defeated football team. And they have since last year, dude. I mean, think about it. Last year they went in to the last game of the season. All they got to do is beat Tennessee Titans team with nothing to play for. And you win the AFC South and they lose that one. And I can tell you from that game, they came out flat for that game, dude. Like they did not look like they, they literally want to be anywhere besides, you know, at Nissan stadium playing football.
00:25:01
Speaker
The other thing, I don't know how much obviously you were driving, so you didn't see much of the low lights of Trevor Lawrence yesterday. Dude, he looks lost, dude. He's like a new QB coach or something, man. I mean, he's overthrowing wide open people. He's not good right now. The other, there's two more we're going to talk about. We'll talk about the Eagles next.
00:25:26
Speaker
I don't think I'd be full panic mode on this team yet. They didn't have Devontae Smith or AJ Brown yesterday. I mean, that's the first game that Jalen Hertz has ever played without either of those guys playing. So I wouldn't throw that in full panic mode. Their defense looked absolutely awful yesterday though.

Eagles and Jets Struggles

00:25:43
Speaker
I mean, whatever you want to say about Baker Mayfield, he's having a career resurgence, but he absolutely shredded their defense with ease yesterday. I just.
00:25:53
Speaker
I'm not getting good feelings from the Eagles right now. It's been very, very ugly, man. I saw a stat. I'll try to pull it up real quick while we're out here, but I think Jalen hurts has turned the ball over in something like nine consecutive games. Yeah. He just makes so many bad decisions, man. He just, he throws into coverage when he doesn't need to. And I mean, yesterday, I guess I get it cause he kind of had to force it cause they were just getting destroyed.
00:26:20
Speaker
I don't know. I just I got some jayla hurts numbers for you. He's turned the ball over every game this season He's got nine straight games total with the turnover Three turnovers in the red zone this season and since week one of last year. He has had 27 turnovers Jesus dude that is straight up limiting your That is straight up severely limiting your team's ability to win now, I understand that 2022 season was freaking awesome man, but uh
00:26:49
Speaker
It's, yeah dude, it's looking bad, man.
00:26:53
Speaker
I just, I don't, I don't know what they do from here. I mean, they're going to get AJ Brian Devontae Smith back and that's going to help a lot, but I don't know. They just, they don't look good, man. It's just not a good football team. Uh, moving on to another really not good football team, dude, the jets losing to the Broncos in the way they did yesterday. I think the Broncos had something like 60 yards passing. You'd bonus had seven, negative seven yards passing at halftime and the jets somehow found a way to lose that game.
00:27:22
Speaker
The, uh, the, the Aaron Rogers vibes have worn off fast.
00:27:28
Speaker
I think did you see his press conference after I got to say that, you know, I fucking hate Aaron Rodgers, dude. I don't know if he was wrong, though, dude. I think it may have been more to do with the Jets organization. So, you know, the Jets had something like four or five false starts yesterday. And I guess Robert Salas press conference was before Aaron Rodgers. And he said that they need that they may need to change up how they're doing the cadences. And then Aaron Rodgers said, well, why not just hold the people accountable who are making the
00:27:58
Speaker
false starts, which I kind of get what he's saying, man. I don't know if you need to say that publicly to the entire press conference, but I kind of get it, dude. Why dumb the stuff down to make it easier on the opponents instead of just asking your bios to rise up their level and not have false starts?
00:28:15
Speaker
Um, Oh, speaking of quotes, I wanted to bring this up since we were just talked about the Eagles game. Did you hear, um, what Baker said about Tom Brady earlier this week? Yeah. When he said that everybody was, you know, everybody's back to having fun now that he's there and they were stressed out when, uh, Brady was there. Did you hear Tom Brady talk about it on air?
00:28:36
Speaker
Yeah, he said to me not having a Super Bowl ring is stressful. I thought that was pretty much fucking spot on. This is why Tom Brady's ago dropped a bar. You don't need to say anything else there, Baker. Did you? I think both guys were right, man. I think both guys, I think both guys scored points out there with me, dude, but I did enjoy the exchange and I'm glad Tom Brady clap back on him. It didn't just let the, uh, that little dig go unanswered.
00:28:59
Speaker
I kind of like zesty Tom Brady, dude. He's kind of, he's thrown a couple out there the last couple of weeks about teams and just like the way their organizations run things. Like I kind of like him getting a little spicy on the commentary. This is what you want to hear. Cause that's one thing from Romo that he never really like talk shit about anybody. He's always nice. Everybody. Yeah. He's never going to be overly critical.
00:29:21
Speaker
This is the shit we want to hear, dude. I want to hear stuff like this. And then Brady dropped another bomb during that game when he was talking about his recruitment process when he left New England. Dude, his second choice was Chicago.
00:29:35
Speaker
That would have been wild, dude. They got he picked Tampa. I cannot imagine Brady going to Chicago. Imagine the Bears organization getting Brady dropped into their lap and somehow turning him into the worst quarterback in the NFL. He probably wouldn't have finished it. He probably would have went out injured, man, for his, uh, that's how it's committed. They brought him in for the interview and they're like, well, we don't have anyone to block for you. So I don't know if that's a hindrance or not. And we also have no receivers. So I don't really know what you want to do here.
00:30:04
Speaker
But yeah, yeah, I'll always picture Brady in a Patriots jersey, no matter what, when I think of him. But I do think the the Bucks years was a nice little final chapter on his on his career. I mean, he got another ring. So yeah, he got another ring. He got to put down. He got to put to bed that he won everything because of Belichick. And instead he turned it on Bill Belichick. That Belichick won everything because of him.
00:30:26
Speaker
He was still balling that last year too. I mean, I know they went one and done in the playoffs, but Tom Brady was not anywhere close to the list of, uh, problems that books had that season. No. Um, the other thing we got to talk about before we move on, dude, the commanders and Jaden Daniels, man.

Cultural Change and Game Predictions

00:30:46
Speaker
They lost week one on the road in Tampa, who is a pretty decent team. And it was Jaden Daniels' first game, but they've looked excellent, dude. He's runaway rookie of the year right now, man. They are looking like a really, really good football team. I thought the Cardinals were not world beaters, but I thought they were a pretty solid team. And the commanders wouldn't beat the shit out of them yesterday.
00:31:07
Speaker
I know neither me or you was extremely high on the commanders this season as far as records go, but I went back and listened just cause I thought I had said something positive about them and just Dan Quinn rebuilding the culture. And I thought they might be better than what we had been projecting. Like, dude, he has completely changed the culture of that locker room. There is all the shit that happened the last five years with that team is completely gone. They don't make mistakes. They don't do dumb shit, dude.
00:31:36
Speaker
I'm always going to hate him for what happened in the Super Bowl. There's never going to be a part of me that does not hate Dan Quaid a little bit. He's a good coach. He is a really good coach, man. Especially for taking a bad team to be in solid. He's a perfect coach for that kind of dude.
00:31:51
Speaker
This is my problem with Dan Quinn though. He's really good the first three years until the raw, raw shit wears off. Like all that in brotherhood and stuff wore off after the third year and then it just went horribly. That's his only issue. And the thing about him is dude, his first three years in Atlanta or two years in Atlanta, his coordinators were just like an all-star team of coordinators.
00:32:13
Speaker
I feel like that was part of it, but he is a extremely good coach at getting you jacked up to play football. And they're showing a man. Jayden Daniels is just playing free football. And me and you both bet and picked the Cardinals. But to be fair, that was before we watched them on Monday night. There is zero chance I would have picked the Cardinals if I would have watched that game first, because what they did to the Bengals, I was like, dude, they should handle the Cardinals.
00:32:41
Speaker
Yeah, the commanders are tough, man. They're definitely going to be a force in the NFC East. If Jaden Ano stays healthy, man, he's still so slight, man, that I worry about him staying upright for 17 games. Do you think Caleb Williams is going to make it through the whole season?
00:32:58
Speaker
He's taking a lot of hits, man. I think it's just, I don't think, I do think he's a much better player than he's shown so far, but it's just, it's historical, dude. Like Chicago is just not a place to go and light it up at QB, man. It's just not. I don't know if it's the stadium, something in the water there, dude. Like just offenses go there to die.
00:33:20
Speaker
Yeah, it's going to be really interesting to see how that turns out because, yeah, right now, Jane Daniels looks like the cream of the crop for this QB class. So, yeah, it's going to be interesting to see how the season unfolds. That's it for news, man. All right. Let's get to our college picks for this week.
00:33:48
Speaker
It hits different four and one. What's that one though? Hey, that's a good thing about dude. That Nebraska win over Colorado is looking more and more impressive. It is. Yeah, every week it looks better.
00:34:01
Speaker
Yeah, all right. So we got one game to pick this week, only one top 25 matchup. It's gonna be Missouri versus Texas A&M, at Texas A&M. I've been able to watch a little bit of Missouri this year, dude. I haven't been super impressed with what I've seen out of Texas A&M, but I also doubt Missouri going on the road. A&M's a two point favorite in this one. I think I go by with Missouri to win and a squeaker, man, but I think this is a coin flip game.
00:34:32
Speaker
Dude, I feel like every time I trust Texas A&M, they reward me with a complete shit performance. So I'm going to go against it, and I'm going to take Missouri as well. I just, I don't trust A&M, dude. I just don't feel like they're very good. And their quarterback play is shoddy at best. And I do feel like it seems good. But yeah, their offense seems really crappy. Yeah. And I do feel like Missouri is playing really well right now. Let's see what Texas A&M.
00:35:01
Speaker
Yeah, I like I said they're two point favorites man, but I just I can't see it dude. I feel like they've been so underwhelming man Yeah, it's it's just a weird team They've yeah, they've been under 30 points the last two weeks besides they blew out
00:35:20
Speaker
They blew out McNeese state. Other than that, they've been, you know, playing relatively close games, man, against, you know, they almost got beat by Bowling Green. Barely got past Arkansas, who hasn't looked all that impressive. So yeah, I'm going to Missouri to go on the road and get the upset. All right. All right. That's it. Let's get to the UniWatch.
00:35:58
Speaker
All right, we got a heavy Fashion police were in full effect this week as the Titans score once again to ice this game They're up 30 to 12 on the freaking dolphins right now, man. What a beat down
00:36:10
Speaker
I'm actually gonna flip it over to the where the games really haven't been all that close up until now That's why I'm gonna give me other live up base. There's 24 seconds left to go in the Dolphins Titans game shout out to longtime listener Mike Rivera your dolphins did not show up to play tonight, but So Titans putting that whooping on them on Monday night football in Miami for the second straight year And right now the Lions are clinging to an eight-point lead on the undefeated Seahawks how much time is left in that one right now Jordan the fourth quarter just started I think there's like 12 minutes left in the fourth quarter
00:36:41
Speaker
Okay, so we got a ball game in that one But let's get to uni watch man. A lot of teams to get to so we'll start with with college and pull it up
00:36:54
Speaker
All right. Excuse me. We'll start with Thursday night Cowboys in the all white man. I thought this was a clean look. Oh yeah. These are some of the best jerseys in the NFL by far. I love when they wear these. They usually save these for like Thanksgiving. Yeah. It was cool to see them in action in a, just a fucking normal Thursday night game.
00:37:13
Speaker
Notre Dame, right out the classic green jerseys. I love these days. That's always been one of my favorite looks. Notre Dame with the green jersey with the gold helmet just pops, man. To me though, they're still one of the teams that doesn't really need an alternate jersey. Like their normal look is so clean to me. So yeah, I get it though.
00:37:29
Speaker
Yeah, one of the best jerseys in all the sports, like bar none, dude. Notre Dame is just classic, dude, with the shiny gold helmets and the plain jerseys. I can just see Rudy spray painting those helmets like it started the movie every time when Notre Dame comes out.
00:37:47
Speaker
Penn State rocked their classic uniforms with the numbers on the sides and the stripes. I hate this. I don't know how you hate it, because to me they're not that much different, man. I feel like I'd have to squint to notice they were different. Dude, their unis are just so plain and it's perfect for them. I love the simplistic nature of Penn State's unis and their helmets. There's no flash to them at all. And it's just always been the same. So I just prefer their classic look more than anything.
00:38:16
Speaker
I kind of like these has changed up, but I do agree, man. They're a team that never has to do anything with theirs. Utah was rocking the black uniforms. Obviously that didn't work out very well for them. They took a late night loss on a Saturday night, but I do think the uniforms are cool. I think they're definitely one that it's like, we're going to have black uniforms just for black uniforms sake. I don't really, I never really thought of Utah being like, you know, black, black uniform team, but I thought just on the looks of it, I thought they looked pretty cool. Yeah, they looked fine. I just,
00:38:45
Speaker
What a shocker. Zach Wilson's brother also trashed, jogging. It may be a while before they break him out again, man. That's rough, dude. Top 10, undefeated. You're burning them, jerseys. Yeah. I don't think we see those for a while.
00:39:01
Speaker
Falcons brought out the red helmets, black jerseys, the classic combos. I don't know why these aren't the permanent uniforms, man. They're new to redesign that they got back in 2020. It's grown on me over the years. I've grown to like it, but I still think that the red helmet, black uniform, classic combo is one of the absolute best uniforms in all the NFL.
00:39:23
Speaker
Yeah, I really wish they'd just bring back the old logo, dude. And I don't have a problem with the newer logo. It's fine. But dude, just that classic dirty bird logo is just it's got to be one of the most clean logos in the history of the NFL. So I wish it's really good. And dude, I would love for him to bring back the black helmet with the old dirty bird on it and the red outline. I love that look.
00:39:47
Speaker
Do you think that they, when they had the redesign, do you think they kept that like, you know, 2003 era logo just because the Falcons had so much more success as an organization with that logo than they had with the classic one? Do you think that's why? Yeah, probably. Just to tie it to that a little bit. I thought I always liked the Falcon. I mean, I like the newer logo too, but I agree. The straight lines looked a lot better than the kind of curvier version of it.
00:40:12
Speaker
All right, Browns. I know you didn't like the uniforms last year, dude. The Browns were back to rocking their all white. I love this uniform, dude. This is one that we had different opinions on last year, though. White pants, white jersey with the white helmet. I absolutely love this look for the Browns. I always kind of dig the Browns uniforms. I think the brown and orange just, it really kind of sticks out a little bit amongst so many teams opting for kind of like brighter uniforms. But I love the all white look, man. Has it grown on you anymore in year two of this uniform?
00:40:40
Speaker
Um, no, not really. I just, I, again, this is just another team that doesn't need to do anything different. Like I just, I liked their classic uniforms. It's just, it's so much different than everybody else in the NFL. That's why I like it.
00:40:53
Speaker
Ravens had their all black uniforms last night for that absolute trouncing of the bills. These alternates have been around for going on 20 years now, but they still are one of the coolest alternate jerseys in all sports, the all black Ravens look. I feel like they were kind of one of the first teams in the NFL to really go to the all black for the alternates. And we've seen so many teams copying it over the years, but the Ravens were really one of the originators and it still holds up.
00:41:18
Speaker
Yeah, they looked mighty fine last night in those jerseys and Derek Henry still looks all over the part of an absolute monster running back. Did you hear, were you listening to the game at all last night? Did you hear them talking about Derek Henry's diet? No, I made it back. I was watching that. I saw that in real time. Did you hear them talking about Derek Henry's diet though? Yeah, he's a beast. How the fuck is he that size and that's all he eats, dude? He's basically on the Tom Brady diet.
00:41:44
Speaker
He's just a freak, dude. He's an absolute freak, man. Like, dude, if you see him in, like, the State Farm commercial, dude, like, you would think he was an offensive tackle, man. Like, if you just saw him and you're like, hey, this guy plays in the NFL, I feel like running back is, like, the eighth or ninth position you guess. If somebody's telling you just guess what position this dude plays, man. Like, there's just... It's unfair for somebody to be that big and that strong and that fast. I just don't know... I couldn't even imagine being, like, a DB and seeing Derek Henry coming at me in the open field.
00:42:11
Speaker
I know that his preference was definitely to go to the Ravens. Like they've made it pretty much known that this was his preference all along, which me and you talked about this middle last season. If there was a perfect team for me to pick him to go to, it was the Ravens for this exact reason of what they're doing right now.
00:42:27
Speaker
Dude, you can't even pay attention to Lamar now. You have to watch Derek Henry and the bills just kept, they got caught sleeping numerous times. They were watching Lamar and Derek Henry just runs for 10, 15, 20 yards at a time. You can't let him get the top speed, dude. If he gets the top speed, he's gaining seven, eight yards. That team was dangerous, dude. That team is really dangerous.

Offensive Strategies and Week 5 Preview

00:42:51
Speaker
I mean, they're the perfect compliment. As long as they stay healthy, they can read perfectly compliments what Lamar likes to do. And because Lamar is a guy that puts defense, it is a big first down for the Seahawks. I think it's offensive. Yeah, look like it.
00:43:06
Speaker
Because Lamar puts defenses back on their heels so much, they can't just tee off on Derek Henry. Because really, dude, the only surefire to stop on Derek Henry, you got to get to him before you get started, man. You got to get bodies on him at or around the line of scrimmage. Because if he gets to the second level of the defense and he's still accelerating, like, dude,
00:43:24
Speaker
He's hitting you, he's trouncing another couple yards and he's falling forward, right? Like best case scenario, you're stopping him for a seven yard gain. And that's just not what you want all night, man. And if they're allowed to get the running game going, he's going to keep pounding on you. And in the fourth quarter, like nobody's even going to want to touch that guy.
00:43:41
Speaker
That is a miserable call. Holy shit. That was bad. Yeah, that was pretty weak. I feel like I've seen way more aggressive pick plays that don't get called. But yeah, dude, that's the thing. And that's what I said after two weeks. I'm like, I don't know what the fuck the Ravens were doing the first two weeks on offense. Like, that zone read with him and Lamar is going to absolutely murder teams this year. Like, there's no way to cover it. I mean, you have to pick one or the other, and you just have to pray you guessed right, and Lamar makes a bad decision. Otherwise, you're just fucked.
00:44:10
Speaker
Like what they did last night, that's exactly what I expected the Ravens to do all season. And I, I think now they got it going. There ain't no stopping it now. Yeah, it's yeah. And you make the O-line's job so much easier also. Cause like I said, the defense is back on their heels. They're not aggressive. They're having to watch and wait. They can't just react and go fly into the football.
00:44:29
Speaker
All right, and last team is we're watching the Seahawks kind of self-destructing to see a flags right here. Lions debuted their brand new alternates. These are all black. They've had black jerseys in the past back during the kind of Calvin Johnson glory years. They had a black alternate they throw out, but these are some newly redesigned black uniforms with a bright blue chrome helmet. I think they're supposed to kind of put you in mind of like Ford Mustang type deal.
00:44:54
Speaker
Pretty, pretty cool jerseys, dude. I kind of like the Lions OG jerseys too. The Honolulu Blue Hits, dude. Yeah. This is another one that I feel like, kind of like I said about Utah, it feels like, you know, they just want an excuse to wear some black jerseys, man, because I think the stuff sells real well. I do like the helmet, the local helmet school.
00:45:13
Speaker
Yeah, they look more like a low-level college program to me more so than NFL team something about just I think the brightness with like the chrome black It looks kind of like a college uniform to me. So overall I think I'm giving it a thumbs down man, but it's not the worst uniform I've ever seen. Yeah, I don't I don't love these either I do like the helmet and I'm really glad that they Introduced the bigger Lions logo. It does make the everything pop a little bit more But yeah, I'm not a huge fan of these either
00:45:41
Speaker
Dude, a uniform I used to love was the uniform, the throwbacks, the lines used to wear on Thanksgiving, where it was just a silver helmet, a plain blue jersey, and the silver pants. I always thought that that was a really, really cool little jersey. Those were sick. Yeah, hopefully they break those back out sometime.
00:45:59
Speaker
What's your, uh, before we get into the picks for this week, man, what's your read on this one, dude? Lions, lions got the ball back eight point lead here in the fourth quarter. They can build close this one out or just, you know, got some magic left up to sleep. I mean, dude, you gotta assume the lions can grind this out, but I don't know, man, all their touchdown drives have been super quick tonight. Like I haven't really had any grinding drives, but I don't know. I just feel like the lions are a better team and they're at home. So I'll give the lions the advantage.
00:46:27
Speaker
All right, let's move to our week five picks. If I can get my cursor to move here on the sound bar. Awkward silence, here we go.
00:46:57
Speaker
Dude, how are we already to week five? This sucks, man. We're already a quarter of the way through football. Why am I, dude? After next week, we're going to have to make our quarter of the way. Yeah. Next week, we'll be making our quarter of the way award picks. I feel like we just did the preseason picks, man. Yeah, this sucks, man. I don't like how fast this goes. Yeah. All right. Let's get looking at NFL in week five. I haven't even looked, have you even taken a glance at the slate yet? Well, we got to talk about week four first.
00:47:26
Speaker
Uh, we can just skip it, dude. You don't want to, you don't want to recap our picks from week four. Well, I think I won. Cause didn't it, wasn't it? We tied and we both went nine and six, not including this game. We both have Detroit. So through four weeks, it is, uh, I am two 0 and two.
00:47:45
Speaker
Alright, I'm gonna win this week. It's gonna be the first one Thursday night should be a good one We got the three and one Bucks heading into Atlanta to face the Falcons Falcons are one and a half point favorites You already feel like this one's coming down to the last possession, dude. I Think the Bucks land man. I hate to say TD I think the Bucks go in there and get the dub dude I just think they're a little bit stronger football team across the board. I
00:48:08
Speaker
I do not feel good about this game at all. Just watching this team is...
00:48:16
Speaker
They're just not that good. Baker Mayfield eight touchdowns, two interceptions through the first four games. The only good thing is the Falcons defense has played extremely well. They're the only team, the NFL that hasn't a lot of rushing or they hadn't allowed one as whatever. There was some stat yesterday they have now, obviously. Um, but they've, they got some ball Hawks in that secondary too, man. So maybe they could drive up some of those interception numbers there for, uh, for old Baker. Dude, Matt Ryan is going into the ring of honor that night.
00:48:44
Speaker
Oh, dude, I'm going to take Atlanta. All right. You think the Matt Ryan effect is enough? I, it's not even that like the home team to me always has a slight advantage on a short week. They do. That's a quick trip though, do you? Yeah, it is. I'm not saying it's like a long trip or anything. I just, I don't know, dude. At some point Atlanta's offense has got to click. If it doesn't, I mean, so be it, but I just, I feel like at some point it has to work. So I'm going to go Atlanta.
00:49:13
Speaker
Jets and Vikings in Minnesota. No, excuse me. This one is in London, dude. So this one's going to be a wonky game. So the Vikings are two and a half point favorites, man.
00:49:26
Speaker
I feel like Aaron Rodgers dude against the fire. I feel like he just owns every, every NFC North team and Donald's lighted up the darn was that 11 touchdowns and three interceptions through the first four games. It's a trip to London. It's a wonky one man. I feel like the jets are a little bit desperation mode.
00:49:44
Speaker
I'm probably going to, this is definitely going to be the one where I'm texting you Sunday morning. I'm like, dude, I'm such a fucking idiot. But I think the jets are going to hand the Vikings their first law. You are never going to buy this Minnesota team and it's going to cost you. I feel like every time they win, it's that ups the odds that much more that the next one's going to be the one that they lose in five weeks. You will have picked them one time. Like that is insane.
00:50:08
Speaker
I'm taking the Vikings, dude. I, their defense is playing so well and I think it's going to give the jets fits. The jets offense is not good. I don't know what happened to this offense. Their offensive line is absolute garbage. Rogers got hit and this is not me saying anything bad. I'm not trying to rig rag on Denver here. Denver's defense is absolutely incredible. It's like a top three defense in the NFL.
00:50:33
Speaker
but they're not that fucking good. Like what the, what the jets did yesterday was embarrassing. So I'm going to go Minnesota. I think the long trip makes it even worse. Honestly.
00:50:43
Speaker
All right. Ravens and Bengals in Cincinnati. I think the Ravens get a close one, man. I think that I think the Bengals are not. I feel bad saying this because they were my pick to win the Super Bowl. I think that's looking like another classic, you know, 100% accurate prediction by me, dude. I think that's going to be up there with Trevor Lawrence for 2023 MVP. Dude, their defense is so bad.
00:51:09
Speaker
Yeah, I think the Ravens get in there and I think it gets a little bit ugly, man. I think this is where we go from like, you know, some quiet concerns to like all the alarm bells are ringing for the Bengals after this week. I just I do not understand how the Bengals defense is so bad. Yeah, I'm going Baltimore as well and I I'm with you. I don't think it's close. Alright, I won four Jaguars with the two and two Colts coming in. This is definitely a toilet bowl.
00:51:36
Speaker
of a, uh, a game is Joe Flacco playing. Cause if Joe Flacco starts that, that changes the entire aspect of this game. Flacco lights up the Jaguars. What's the, what's the latest on that dude? I have not looked at any of the, uh, the news. They have not said anything yet. They're, they're hopeful that Anthony Richardson will play, but on hopeful, I'm going to guess they're going to sit him out a week just to be safe. So I'm going to say Flacco plays this weekend.
00:52:02
Speaker
I think Doug Peterson's coaching for his job this week. I think if they lose to the Colts at home, that's it. I think he digs deep, finds some, you know, draws up some trick plays in the dirt. And God, that was a beautiful play called the Lions, dude. Ben Johnson is going to be the number one candidate for a head coaching job at the end of this year.
00:52:22
Speaker
Yeah, I was surprised he didn't get a job last year, honestly, man. He did. He got three offers and he turned all of them down to go back to Detroit. Yeah, he's waiting for the perfect offer. No, he wanted to come back because he felt like they had unfinished business in Detroit, which kind of hard to argue. Oh, he got it. I am going to go Jaguars, man. I'm going to Indy. I think this is like the first week I'm picking Indy to win. Let me see.
00:52:48
Speaker
I think I'm getting too much into the math on this that I'm like, you know, I think the, the four and O team is bound to lose. And I'm thinking that the own 14, you know, like a regression to the main type deal, um, is bound to win. So it's another one where I may end up looking dumb. Doug Peterson may be fired by the time we're recording next Monday night, but I think they get past it. I'm going to India. I think Flacco lights them up.
00:53:11
Speaker
If Flacco has another big game, man, what are you doing week six? You got to go back to Richard's you at least, at least one more week, right? Dude, they have no choice. They have to go back to him because that, I mean, that is the future of their franchise. Like Joe Flacco is obviously not the future of their franchise. You have to go back to him.
00:53:27
Speaker
I feel like they're a good enough team, though. They can be in the mix for the playoffs. Do you sacrifice the whole season scene, which you got in Richardson to me? I feel like you give it back to Richardson, but on a short leash. Well, you kind of need to fucking know you can't just like play the whole season out with a 38 year old Joe Flacco and then come back in the next season and be like, well, we still don't know what we have and we still haven't really won anything. Like you got to find out sooner or later. I mean, it's just a cold. It's not like they're going to the fucking Super Bowl. Exactly. Fuck off. Yeah.
00:53:57
Speaker
All right, Dolphins and Patriots in New England, another toilet bowl contender. I think the Patriots win, man. I think the Patriots are a solid one in three team, dude. Dude, the Dolphins are all time bad right now. Yeah, the Dolphins are bad, dude. The Patriots are just, they're young and they got some growing pains to go through. But it sounds weird saying about a one in three team. I think they're generally sound like good playing football team though, you know what I mean?
00:54:25
Speaker
Yeah, they need to fucking scramble to his brains back into place here pretty quick. Cause, uh, this season is slowly getting away from the dolphins. Like dolphins are a shit show, dude. Yeah. I'm going to England as well. Just cause I don't, I seriously don't think the dolphins can get enough offense to even win. Yeah. I mean, they got their escape by the Titans who look like the worst team of the week through the first three weeks, 31 to 12. That is embarrassing.
00:54:52
Speaker
Alright, the commanders and the Browns. God dude, I'm picking the commanders. I think this could be pretty close because the Browns just kind of got a way of ending up in close games. I'd love nothing more than to see them embarrass the Browns dude. I just I still hate the Browns for chasing Baker Mayfield out of town for the pervert and
00:55:09
Speaker
I cannot, there's no amount of failure that the Browns could, uh, could receive to where I would say, you know what, they've had enough to take it out. Football gods take it easy on them. I, the Browns have everything they have coming to them with this shit season there in store for it. I think the commanders win big, dude, what the hell happened to the Browns defense? They lost nobody from last year and they have the number one defense. They look like dog shit now.
00:55:35
Speaker
I got, it's like unfathomable how much worse their defense is. I mean, yeah, they got beat by the Raiders and the Giants, the gardener gardener Minshew and Danny dimes beat them the last two weeks. Dude. And also at what point do you think about starting Winston? Like I'm not saying Watson is the entire problem, but he's definitely not the solution.
00:55:59
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, Watson's just been, you know, low level mediocre this year, but I mean, you paid him like franchise changing money to get there, not to mention the draft days. Yeah. Anyway, I'm going Washington as well. I don't know what the hell's wrong with Cleveland.
00:56:18
Speaker
All right, next game we have the Bills and the Texans in Houston.

Game Analysis and Predictions

00:56:24
Speaker
We could definitely be seeing these guys running back in the playoffs. Houston's good, man, but I don't think the Bills are losing too straight, dude. I think they got smacked around a little bit by the Ravens. They just didn't really have an answer for what the Ravens brought out there game plan wise. I think we see the Bills get back on track. I think it's going to be a good game, man. I think it's got the potential to be one of the best games of the early season that we've seen so far. But I think the Bills go down there and get the win.
00:56:48
Speaker
I'm going to one and a half point favorite. I'm going Texans. I just, I think Buffalo, they're not as bad as they played last night, but I also don't think they're as good as they played the first three weeks. Like do Josh Allen have like 73 yards passing last night? I just
00:57:04
Speaker
I don't know, man. I'm, I'm not getting warm feelings after last night. Like I just feel like the bills were over playing the first three weeks and I just, I don't think their offense is good, man. They're just, I think last week was just a bad night, dude. I feel like Josh Allen's on the way to having his best year ever. He is putting the ball over yet. The problem is though, dude, they're off like, who are you going to rely on in crunch time on their offense is the problem.
00:57:27
Speaker
Like last night was a glaring point of that. Like they had nobody to get the ball to that. They don't have anyone on that team that can just make it. It's literally all on Josh Allen or nothing.
00:57:40
Speaker
Yeah, that's true. Like the same way that it's a, it's a good thing when you don't have like a guy that you feel like you got to force feed the ball to sometimes, sometimes you are missing that guy where it's just, you can tell him like, Hey, get open. We're throwing to you right now and make us a play. You know, they definitely are missing that with a Stefan Diggs gone. And the Texans meanwhile, Nico Collins looks like a top 10 receiver right now. That dude is ball in the season. He's leading the league in receiver right now. He's number one in yards. He looks so good and he's just so confident in everything now.
00:58:10
Speaker
That team is gonna be wild to watch in the playoffs man. It sounds like Nixon's gonna play this week too. So With the Seahawks looking like they're going down they're losing by 15 with four minutes to go We're gonna be down to the Vikings and the Chiefs as our two two undefeated teams left standing after four weeks Yeah, the Steelers definitely came crash landing back to earth this weekend Yeah, I don't think the 72 Dolphins got really anything to worry about man. I think I don't think anybody's going undefeated this season It ain't happening
00:58:40
Speaker
All right, Panthers and Bears in Chicago. The Bears are extremely soft two and two. Panthers have been much scrappier since they put Andy Dalton in. I wouldn't be shocked to see the Panthers go in there and get the win, but I think the Bears do just enough to eke out an uninspiring victory.
00:58:58
Speaker
the Bears defense is just going to keep them in every game, even if their offense is miserable. I mean, this kind of reminds me of like the bears all the time. So every, the more things change, the more things stay the same. Like they went out and spent all that money on offense and their offense is still dog shit and their defense is just holding it together. So I'm going bears as well. I just,
00:59:20
Speaker
I don't think the Panthers are good, man. Like I just, they're not, but they've been better, dude. We were, we were right there. The Andy, but they were like all time bad team a couple of weeks back and the Andy Dalton factor was a one week thing. Like it just, I don't know, man. I mean, he's definitely better than Bryce young, but that's not really saying much at this point. I thought they played the Bengals decent yesterday miserable though, dude, like they're like all time bad defense right now.
00:59:49
Speaker
Were you expecting the Eddie Dalton revenge game to go down? No, because I just, I knew that the Panthers weren't going to be able to get enough stops in that game. Yeah. All right. Uh, up next we got Cardinals. Excuse me. This is going to be an interesting one, dude. I'm going to let you go first on this one. The Raiders and the Broncos in Denver. Uh, Broncos.
01:00:10
Speaker
Not even a question. I just wonder if they can score enough points, Dave. Like, I feel like the Raiders, I don't think the Raiders are going over 17, but I still question if the Broncos can score over that. I don't think. Like, go Knicks has not been good. There's a good chance. I don't think the Raiders score over 10 points.
01:00:24
Speaker
Yeah, Denver's defense is legit, man. The two starting quarterbacks, so keep in mind, we're talking about combined eight games. The two starting quarterbacks, if you combine their stats going into this, they have four touchdowns and seven interceptions. Also, just so we're clear, I need you to get on the same page as me. We need the Raiders to start losing every week to knock those ticket prices down for when I go in December.
01:00:47
Speaker
I don't need the Raiders being like a 500 team all year and their fans having some hope that they're going to make the playoffs. I need him to go on the doldrums and be like three and eight. Fair enough. I think it's, uh, I think it's very possible that that could happen. Looks like DeMonte Adams has given up on the team till he gets traded.
01:01:05
Speaker
What if the bills pick up Devontae Adams, man? That should be the number one team after him, but here's my fear. What happens if the chiefs pick up Devontae Adams? I think he's going to the jets, dude. I think this is all power play. You know, him and Aaron Rodgers are buddies, dude. They both had their best, best years together. I think he ends up on the jets, man. I've heard it's already a lot of rumblings out there that that's where he's wanting to go. And you know, Aaron Rodgers is a de facto coach and GM of the jets right now. So I could see him making it happen.
01:01:33
Speaker
But why though dude, like I just as he wants to play with Aaron Rodgers, dude, sometimes it's that simple, dude. Yeah. Okay. Go, go from one dysfunctional franchise to another. I guess let's just hop to dysfunctional franchises. Yeah, I agree. I'm not saying it's the best move, dude. I think him to the jet, like you said, the chiefs or bills would be awesome, dude. Uh, but yeah, I don't know if it's going to happen. I'm not, I'm not sure.
01:01:58
Speaker
I'm not I don't love Devontae Adams is obviously really really great on the field still to this day I don't love the way he presents himself like publicly and stuff man I see a lot of pouting on the sidelines and just I'm not sure he's the best teammate in the world let's not forget also Devontae Adams ran himself out of Green Bay like an absolute fucking idiot and he could have still played with Rogers like I'm not gonna get too excited about anything and Devontae Adams because he's proven he's a moron
01:02:25
Speaker
Yeah, agreed. I'm not a big fan of the guy. Cardinals and Panthers in San Francisco. Excuse me, I don't know why I said Panthers, dude. Cardinals and 49ers. Let's try that again. Cardinals and 49ers in San Francisco. Good luck. Cardinals had me fooled after those first two weeks, dude. I don't think they're going anywhere, man. My number one wish right now is for Kyler to get traded somewhere else, either this season or in the off season. I just want to see what it looks like with him on a different team.
01:02:51
Speaker
Um, cause I'm still a believer in him as a player, but I think the 49ers role in this one. Yeah. The 49ers are getting healthy now and it's going to just start cooking even more and Arizona is going to be a victim of that this week.
01:03:05
Speaker
All right, Packers and Rams in LA. Rams just too many injuries, dude. They're scrapping best they can, but just way too many injuries. How about this for the Packers, though, dude? 0-2 with Jordan Love. 2-0 with Malik Willis. Yeah. I'm just saying, dude. Definitely the quality of opponent was a tad different for those two games. I'm just saying, dude. They're 2-0 with Malik Willis. 0-2 with Jordan Love. But I do think Jordan Love is still the key to however far the Packers go this year. And I think they go into LA.
01:03:35
Speaker
Didn't get the win over the the injury depleted. I mean, there's going to be like 90% Packers fans in that place, too. So it's going to be home field for the Packers. I'm going Packers as well. Giants and Seahawks in Seattle. I think we see the Seahawks get back on the winning track in a big way and just crush the Giants, man. Yeah. Cross country flight. Not good for them. They did have a mini bye week this week, though. So I guess you can give them a little bit. But yeah, Seattle should crush me.
01:04:04
Speaker
Pretty good Sunday night matchup. Really classic Sunday night matchup. This might be the two most popular teams in the NFL going at it. It's going to be a monster freaking rating for NBC. Got the Cowboys and Steelers in Pittsburgh, man. I think that defense gets deck in a freaking blender.
01:04:22
Speaker
And we see the Steelers get an ugly win, man. I'm hoping Justin Fields gets to show out dude on the national scale. He hasn't had a lot on the national scene. He hasn't had a lot of opportunity for big prime time games, man. And I'm a big fan of the dude, man. It's hopefully we could see him work some magic and not revert back to the Justin Fields of old in front of the national audience. Also, it doesn't sound like Michael Parsons is going to play this week. He was in a boot and on a scooter today coming to Marcus Lawrence out also. Yeah.
01:04:49
Speaker
I don't know what the hell to think about this Cowboys team, dude. They are not good. This is not a good football team, man. This is the same team that gave up 40 whatever to the saints with everybody healthy. They're just, they're not very good. It's, it's weird to watch because we're never used to them being like this bad. I mean, they didn't exactly light up the world against the giants on Thursday night. No, they did it. But dude,
01:05:16
Speaker
Pittsburgh is still not a great football team. They're good defensively, but their offense is still going to just always be the what if to me. This is a tough one. Who'd you take Pittsburgh?
01:05:28
Speaker
Now I'm taking Pittsburgh, bro. I think Pittsburgh is going great, man. It's in Pittsburgh. Oh yeah, I'll go Pittsburgh as well. Crowd's going to be going crazy, dude. You know, they're going to be fired up having the Cowboys come to town. I mean, like I said, this is a, this is an all-timer of a rivalry right here. Yeah, I'm going Pittsburgh. As far as NFC, AFC rivalries go, it may be number one, dude, Cowboys and Steelers. Yep.
01:05:49
Speaker
All right. And last but not least back to just one game on Monday night, the saints and the chiefs. I think this one's going to be a fun watch. So you're going to hear Jordan just chuckling. I think we may see the chiefs, uh, chief's offense get back on track in a big way, man. I think we can see the chiefs, uh, kick the shit out of the States on Monday night. You know what? We pray for times like that, but I could easily see this being the game. The chiefs lose just to piss me off.
01:06:14
Speaker
It's in KC though, dude. It was in New Orleans, maybe. I cannot see them losing to the Saints in Kansas City. Yeah, they're not gonna lose. I'll go Kansas City as well. Dude, I'm legit calling trouble in Paradise, dude. If it's Monday Night Football and Taylor Swift misses a third straight game.
01:06:29
Speaker
Oh, there's definitely trouble in paradise. He cut his hair shaved. Like that. It seems like all things are quiet on their front. We're not even hearing any like rumblings about like some, you know, some little sweet interaction they have. Like, yeah, it's a, and I know you made a joke about it last week, but why the fuck would she not go to the Atlanta game? It's a Saturday night football game in Atlanta. It's a major city. Like that's somewhere she wants to be seen at. Yeah.
01:06:53
Speaker
Yeah, the rumblings are there and noticeably their offense has gotten worse every game. She hasn't been there. She's the key, dude. I'm not saying, I'm just saying. She's the key. All right, let's get $2 million bet. You know what, Jordan? We can't play it. It's already on here, dude. It's getting played one more week for the Diddler. All right, that's enough.
01:07:20
Speaker
Only one, we're only allowed, STC reached out, we're only allowed one P2D on the show from now on, so that's why we had to clip it early. One baby oil and one uh. All right, so it was not a great week last

Gambling Insights and Risky Plays

01:07:35
Speaker
week. I had the one win. Both the Jordan's bets lost.
01:07:38
Speaker
He's down 20,000. He's down to a cool $1,351,150 for the season on million dollar bets. I won one of my bangles against the spread covered. That was, I bet 25 to win 47,000 and change. And then my cardinal was bet failed miserably. So I lost 25,000 on that one. So I'm still down overall for the season. I'm at 988,000. So I'm a little bit less than $400,000 behind Jordan.
01:08:08
Speaker
with 14 weeks to go, so I got to get cracking. And with that in mind, I'm going big. I think this is a sure thing, but the amount of money I'm laying down on, it does make it risky. You guys know, if you've listened to us the last two years, I'm really kind of against the risky bets. I think that's what's got me in the hole so far this year against Jordan.
01:08:27
Speaker
I'm throwing down $200,000, almost a quarter of my entire remaining imaginary million dollars that we started the season with. I'm throwing down $200,000 on the 49ers money line to win $256,000. Jesus, dude.
01:08:45
Speaker
Why not, dude? It's a huge amount of money to win, dude. I mean, if they lose, I'm screwed, but I feel like it's almost a sure thing. They beat the Cardinals, dude. I mean, reclip that out, dude. I definitely got to go back and clip this out to play next, uh, next Monday night in case, you know, property breaks, ankle first possession when the Cardinals win.
01:09:03
Speaker
God that would rock party breaks his ankle first possession and Kyler Murray has like the most freakin majestic scramble Hail Mary throw at the end of the game to to win it man Tyler Murray with the most fucking Kyler Murray play ever where he looks like he's running with scissors as a toddler
01:09:22
Speaker
Alright, so that's my first one and my second bet a little bit less money a little bit higher risk Steve betting $5,000 on a five team a five team Moneyline parlay Texans who I picked against in the weekly picks Texans Bears Vikings who are also picked against commanders and Bengals who I also picked against so three teams that I picked against a winner really I really got to get some synergy going with my million dollar bets and my weekly picks But hey, I'm winning one way or another this week, man
01:09:52
Speaker
But I bet it, uh, three of them were in their five team money line parlay. That's laying down 5,000 to win 88,000. Nice. All right. My first one this week is I'm going to do a three team parlay. I'm going to do the commander's minus three and a half. The Ravens minus two and a half and the Colts plus two and a half. I'm going to be putting $20,000 on that to win 144,000, 144,025 and 76 cents.
01:10:22
Speaker
We haven't been doing the sense, man. So that's what donated to a charity. 144. Okay. The other one I can't give you guys odds on because I can't fully bet it yet, but we'll give you guys updated odds a lot next week, but I'm going to at least tell you what it is. I'm going to do a touchdown parlay with three guys. I'm going to do Jaden Reed to score at least one touchdown. I'm going to do Nico Collins to score at least one touchdown and Jamar Chase to score one touchdown.
01:10:50
Speaker
All right, and how much are you gonna put on that? I'm just gonna put 10 on that. Okay. All right, and don't forget send an alarm on your phones You can tell me on Thursday with the the winnings is ma'am. Yep. I got it. All right. Got a few questions Coming in. So first off we got our buddy John Swallow. He asked if I can find it here
01:11:12
Speaker
Okay. All right. He wants to know, is it time to dial back some of the fourth downplays and two point conversion attempts feels like it's hurting teams rather than helping them. Dude, this is funny that he asked this question because I brought it up yesterday.
01:11:31
Speaker
I have never in my life seen teams run more stupid fourth down or two point conversion plays. Like it just seems like every week the plays get dumber of what they're running and where they're running it on the field. Dude, the Falcons lined up to go forward on fourth and one when they're up three points sometime in the second quarter on their own side of the field. And I was like, I swear to God, if they snap this ball, I'm going to freak the fuck out. Thank God they got a false start and didn't snap it.
01:11:59
Speaker
But it just, it seems like coaches are so like gunslinger vibes. Like, did nobody learn anything from Dan Campbell last year?
01:12:09
Speaker
I mean, dude, so it looks like we're about over half the league has got a greater than 50% conversion rate on fourth downs, dude. I mean, I think it just, to me, the big thing on it, dude, I know the analytics say go for it. To me, it's the risk reward there, right? Because if you go for it, you know, you usually it's around midfield where they're making these controversial calls, dude, you still got about 40 yards to go. If you miss it though, you're given the other teams of balls starting off at midfield, man. So I think
01:12:34
Speaker
sometimes I feel like the analytics kind of skew, uh, in favor of the reward and don't take all the way into account how risky it is if you don't get it. Um, but I'm generally in favor of the Madden style play calling dude. I like going for two. I like, I like going forward on fourth down, man. Like if they eliminated punts altogether, I wouldn't shed too many tears, man. I'd be cool with it. Teams just got to go forward on fourth down. Uh, I think that would actually make it a little bit better, but so I'm not against it. Um,
01:12:59
Speaker
But yeah, I think, you know, there have been some, some rough, rough decision-making for the coaches so far this season. And what is up with these teams going for two when they're, when they'd only be down seven points with like a quarter to go? Like, I don't understand that. Like they're down, they're down eight, they'd be down seven if they kicked the extra point, but they're going for two that early in the game.
01:13:22
Speaker
Well, the math says if you you know, if you if you think you can get the two point or 50% of the time you're gonna get if you'd miss it the first time you can get it the second time and if you get it that first time you're playing to win we saw the Titans I feel like more times than you know, I know that's what the math says and laying out that explanation I still feel like I've seen that strategy fail more than it's word just because there's so many more variables to throw in the mix but you know, I
01:13:47
Speaker
I'm a little bit biased to it because the Titans use that on that Monday night or last year and that huge comeback against the Dolphins and it actually worked out for him. But I don't know, man, I kind of like it, dude. I'm all about the funkiness of the game, dude. That's why I've really kind of embraced getting back into college football because I feel like you see so much more experimental and risk-taking type stuff. So I'm in general, as far as the actual success as a coaching philosophy,
01:14:11
Speaker
I think it's still too early

Referee Decisions and Controversies

01:14:13
Speaker
to tell. I think we need to see this style of play calling over the next three or four years to really have a big enough sample size to make a call on it. But from a fan's perspective, I love it, man. Yeah, I get it.
01:14:24
Speaker
All right, and he also wants to know, is it time to give Jared Goff his flowers? To me, I feel like Jared Goff's gotten his flowers, man. He got a big new deal in Detroit. He had Eminem hyping him up on the intro for that playoff game last year. And I don't feel like you get as many questions, dude. I mean, me personally, I still wonder if he can absolutely get it done, take him all the way to the Super Bowl, but I don't know. I feel like the Jared Goff hate and doubt has really gotten down to absolute minimum level.
01:14:52
Speaker
Yeah. And yeah, I mean, it looks like this is about to happen too. So I can say it, Jared Goff is going to go 18 of 18 for 292 yards and two touchdowns tonight. That is incredible. If he's not getting his flowers, he definitely, uh, he definitely deserves an 18 of a full NFL game is borderline incredible, dude. That's, that's hard to do in Madden on rookie difficulty, dude. That's wild.
01:15:20
Speaker
I feel like it was overblown how bad he was with the Rams, too. I mean, he had some bad games, for sure. The Super Bowl sticks out. But that was an all-timer of a Patriots defense that year. And dude, he still got the Rams to a freaking Super Bowl, man. So it's not like he was sneaking up the joint. They just felt like Matt Stafford represented a solid upgrade to put him over the hump. And obviously, they were right on that call. Yeah.
01:15:41
Speaker
All right, and last question, our buddy James Maudsley coming in again. He's got another upset special for us, man. Is this one actually an upset? You know what's so funny? He said that was the upset special and then they went out there and got their ass whooped, dude. So one, it wasn't even an upset. And two, they got absolutely freaking stomp the mud hole in, dude. His upset this week is that Georgia beats Auburn, dude. So I think he's just going to keep the gimmick going. Jesus, here we go.
01:16:06
Speaker
The question is, should the NCAA find the refs for the Miami Hurricanes call? And was it the correct call? So if you haven't, definitely go back and check out the finish to that Virginia Tech Hurricanes call. To me, man, watching it, I felt like it was an incomplete pass as it happened in real time. But they called it a touchdown on the field, and there definitely wasn't enough evidence there to overturn it. So I think it was kind of just a poor officiating job all the way around. I think they knew it was an incomplete pass.
01:16:32
Speaker
They needed to just fix it. They, even though that by the letter of the law, it seems like they shouldn't have been able to. What was your take on the finish line, dude? The ACC was on the horn and they're like, Hey, we can't have Miami lose. We need somebody to be relevant for the playoffs. Miami's our only hope. Yeah. I mean, the conspiracy theory part of your brain. Yeah. It's that it's only natural to think that that's what happened. But take it out of account. What did you think of the actual, uh, the actual call in gameplay?

Speaker
Wow, what a pick, dude. I don't, okay, so I'm with you. Like, how could you have reversed that call no matter what you said? If they would have said incomplete on the field, I would have been completely fine with it standing. But how can you reverse that touchdown? There was nothing there to overturn that.

Speaker
I just, yeah, I don't get it. I know we talked about this last week, but I feel like officiating is all time bad right now. Like the, um, the Huskers got absolutely, oh, he did not pick that at all. Um, the Huskers got absolutely screwed on offensive pass interference the other day. The guy didn't need the guy from the Huskers didn't even touch the DB. Like he ran right past him and they still threw the flag and call the touchdown back.

Speaker
It's bad. Sure. That wasn't a pick right there, dude. I think that may have been. I think that may have been actual. It looks like he was on the ground when he rolled. It looked like he had to me like he had his hand underneath and kept control the whole time. Look, he's got it trapped on his body. Not to distract. We're just talking about a meaningless interception. It was spectacular play. Detroit safety. I don't know if it's safe to your corner. Makes a crazy. That was crazy. Either way, review. Yeah, dude. Yeah, I appreciate it. It's a sport.

yesterday in the Falcons game and I was I was texting with a couple Saints fans the Falcons scored a touchdown on a screen pass to Bijon and they called it back on a holding then they showed the replay and Jake Matthews didn't barely even touched the dude like it's just like where are you throwing these flags for
01:18:27
Speaker
I think so I don't think you should be able to call I don't think you should be able to challenge it like if a penalty wasn't called because you could probably Get holding on any single play, but I think if a penalty was called on holding or pass interference, right? I think you should be able to challenge it to get it get it reversed man It's just cuz dude those calls like you said that's a game changer of a call right there taking a touchdown off the board With the way it passed your experiences and I felt those are game-changing plays too, man So I just I feel like I
01:18:52
Speaker
I feel like you should be able to challenge penalties like that. I don't know why you can't. If you can challenge everything else, still give the coaches two challenges a game, but there's no reason why some of this stuff shouldn't be able to be challenged, man. Yeah. The only problem with that is like, I mean, you're really challenging the refs every time you do that. And I'm not sure the NFL wants them to do that.
01:19:10
Speaker
I think that's why they overturned the decision to let them challenge pass interference because it really was making the refs look like complete shit. And they weren't overturning any of them because they don't want the refs to look like shit. Problem is they still look like shit even if you're not overturning things. So I don't know, man, it's we're on a slippery slope with the NFL right now. So I don't know. I don't know what the fix is, but yeah, the officiating is garbage.

All right. Monday night football is coming to a wrap. We are officially down to two undefeated teams hats off to the Seahawks for a three and 0 start, but it comes to an end on Monday night in Detroit. Uh, Jordan, man, his was some closing thoughts and we'll get out here for, for week four. The saints had a chance to take the all time lead in the Falcon series against the saints. And just like always, they come up a little bit short.
