Welcome and Theme Introduction

00:00:02
Speaker
Hello, everybody. it is Monday, March 31st, 2025, and you are here with Robin at In the Family Way Coaching. We're here for our daily Bible reading.
00:00:13
Speaker
We are going through the Bible this year and we are using a storybook version called the Day by Day Kids Bible, which has been written by Karen Henley. And it's not just a story version.
00:00:24
Speaker
It has everything in chronological order. If you are just joining me and do not know, this is the big story from Genesis to Revelation, and it's in storybook form in timeline order.
00:00:35
Speaker
So this makes the Bible very easy to read and understand and and know what God was doing.

Monthly Reflections and Personal Lessons

00:00:43
Speaker
So thank you for joining me here today, whether you are on your favorite podcasting app and are listening or whether you are watching the video somewhere, whether that's on YouTube or Spotify or from my site, wherever you are, I'm so glad that you're here.
00:00:57
Speaker
Well, we are at the end of our month, so it is and it is also time to take out our calendar because we're about to hear the Bible today. That is the last day of the month here.
00:01:11
Speaker
So for Jedi, Pearl, and Forest, you ready to do your fraction today? How many months of the year are there? That's right, 12. twelve And we are just finishing March, so March is which month of the year?
00:01:29
Speaker
It's the third month, that's right. January, February, March. So if we have a 3, how many times does 3 go into that 12?
00:01:41
Speaker
That's right, four. We have three, six, nine, 12. twelve So we have one three, and then it goes in four times. So we are one fourth of the way done with this year.
00:01:55
Speaker
That is amazing. That is amazing. So I'm so glad that you have been with me for this long. We are a fourth of the way done.
00:02:08
Speaker
Wow, that's a lot. Well, let's head into our Bible reading for today. Oh, I wanted to share with you, ah hopefully, maybe my last ah episode of the refrigerator saga. I thought that would be yesterday, but I really wanted to share ah my application.
00:02:25
Speaker
ah One of the things that I have mentioned here is that I am sharing what God is doing in my life with these lessons. And um so that you can see how God works in our lives every single day and he uses every single thing that is going on, even my refrigerator, for good.
00:02:44
Speaker
So I have been ah reading a book I just started, actually. ah I started a process. I'll step it back a moment and say i started a process that I've really been interested in called identity exchange.

Identity Exchange and Forgiveness

00:02:58
Speaker
And that's where we exchange the lies that we tell ourselves and that the enemy tells us. And then listen for the truth that Jesus tells us. And so part of that is ah after we receive our identity in him, that's where we tell him what we call ourselves and then we listen for what he tells us he calls us.
00:03:19
Speaker
And then I was looking through the process and one of the recommended books to read is on forgiveness. So I got the book and i was reading it today and I have mentioned ah maybe at least once that i I've been advised and I was thinking, well, at the end of my refrigerator episode, with the number of times that they have, they just, nobody ever followed up with me. I had to do everything myself, which was basically very poor customer service on the part of Lowe's and and it's it's delivery people.
00:03:56
Speaker
and And even the last time, the lady said to me on the phone, she said, it's been really bad. She said, when you're finished, call back. And I'm going to put notes in here that we will offer you some sort of compensation for that.
00:04:09
Speaker
And so we think, oh, good. They're going to compensate me for this. Okay, so what Jesus and God have been teaching me in this is that nothing happened by accident.
00:04:19
Speaker
I mean, it was just one thing after another, wasn't it? And kept bothering me. about that idea of the of the discount or the compensation, however we want to word that, it's it's essentially that they owe me something for my inconvenience.
00:04:37
Speaker
They owe me. And this is the same thing that when somebody wrongs us, we've mentioned a little bit in the past about how we can't practice forgiveness unless somebody wrongs us.
00:04:50
Speaker
ah wrongs us. So when we pray the Lord's Prayer, Jesus taught us to pray that ah forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.
00:05:02
Speaker
And so forgiveness doesn't um equal reconciliation, I'm learning. but And we put all of these things up of what we think what must happen when we forgive.
00:05:15
Speaker
And really, forgiveness is simply the cancellation of debt. And so I am going to cancel their debt to me.
00:05:26
Speaker
And that is forgiving them. i In order to forgive them, i need to cancel their debt to me because I'm the one that's actually being hurt by continuing to think about, oh, they wronged me, they wronged me.
00:05:38
Speaker
ah was so frustrated. i was irritated. I had you know this going on. I took the day off. they know They got all the way to the driveway. They didn't even
00:05:48
Speaker
And then when it didn't come on Saturday and i was just like, wow. And God uses everything for good. And he is using this experience to give me a monetary opportunity so that I can see the application of forgiving a debt, quote unquote, and being able to translate that into forgiveness and learning how to apply that elsewhere.
00:06:19
Speaker
And so I wanted to share that because it feels so much better when I cancel their debt and say, it's done. You don't owe me, I'm going to forgive that debt.
00:06:33
Speaker
And then I'm forgiving that. And it's not just simply saying, oh, they don't have to recompense me. They don't have to compensate me for that. it's It's an actual act of forgiving because i am i'm I'm forgiving what they did.
00:06:45
Speaker
it's It's done. And i feel much more at peace about that. And I feel like, wow, this is what it is to forgive. And it doesn't mean that I have to call somebody and say, hey, I want you to know that I have chosen to forgive you, even though I could ask for compensation.
00:07:02
Speaker
That's not what it's about. A lot of times we think that we have to call somebody or speak with them and say, hey, I just want you to know all of these things that you did. I forgive you. And I was thinking like, for instance, is that's what I needed to do with my brother, because I mentioned that um we're not speaking because he doesn't he simply doesn't want to to speak with me.
00:07:22
Speaker
He doesn't want to have a relationship with me. And so I equated forgiving him with now I will be forced to reconcile with him and that is not the case because you cannot force reconciliation The other person may not be ready to reconcile. That's that's restoring of a relationship Restoration of relationship is a whole nother thing It is not equivalent to my forgiving of perceived wrong and so
00:07:55
Speaker
I feel so much better. I feel like I'm finally starting to get that lesson by reading that book. And God prompted me to read it. and He prompted me to get that book when he prompted me with this identity exchange process.

Psalms and God's Greatness

00:08:07
Speaker
And I just wanted to share that he is working everything to good. And this was good that he brought out of it. And so I want to give him the glory and tell about what he did.
00:08:18
Speaker
Didn't we just read about that yesterday in one of our Psalms that we would tell about what he does? We actually read about it in a number of Psalms that I will always tell about the good things that he does. And this is a good thing that he did.
00:08:30
Speaker
And it may not have seemed like it at the time, But we trusted that God was going to work good into everything. He was always there planning for me to learn forgive. And I love that.
00:08:44
Speaker
So I wanted to give you encouragement to potentially look at situations going on for you and to remember that God will absolutely use everything for good, even failed refrigerator delivery attempts.
00:09:00
Speaker
even buying parts and trying to fix a refrigerator, trusting in him and and the faith that that grows when when we do. And then who knows? I didn't know i was going to have a forgiveness lesson in there.
00:09:13
Speaker
He doesn't give us the end of the lesson before we get there. We have to work through it. So thank you for joining me on that. And let's head up our Psalms today. We are reading the section of Psalms entitled Songs About Joy.
00:09:30
Speaker
Or songs for joy. Let me see, what does it say? Songs of joy. Sorry about that. Songs of joy. And so we are going to read our first psalm, which is Psalm 93.
00:09:42
Speaker
And it has been entitled, The Thunder of the Water.
00:09:48
Speaker
There are many things i want to preface this with, that as we enjoy God's natural beauty, We've seen many examples of things like comparing God's love and his greatness to the heights of the mountains.
00:10:03
Speaker
Remember that these Psalms were written before there were things like TV and such like that. So people actually were out in the world. And we even now today, we can take time to go see and enjoy the natural beauty that God has created when he created the world.
00:10:21
Speaker
And so this psalm is looking at the ocean.
00:10:28
Speaker
God is king. Greatness is like a robe he wears. He is strong. The world stays where God put it. It cannot be moved.
00:10:41
Speaker
You became king long ago. You have lived forever. The seas lift up their voice. The seas lift up their pounding waves.
00:10:54
Speaker
God is stronger than the thunder of the waters. God is stronger than the waves of the sea.
00:11:04
Speaker
Can you just picture that? Can you picture being at the beach? And we hear that roaring waves and they're coming and they're crashing down. And it can be wonderful just sitting there or standing there and closing our eyes and feeling the ocean breeze, the wind, not even so much as a breeze. A lot of times it's a wind that comes off of the ocean.
00:11:26
Speaker
It's like God's breath just...
00:11:31
Speaker
And God is stronger and mightier than the waters of the sea. Stronger than the waves crashing at high tide. Stronger than a tsunami.
00:11:43
Speaker
God is so big and strong. And the world cannot be moved. It stays where he put it. We are not flinging around in space with no orbit.
00:11:58
Speaker
God set this planet in orbit. It stays where he put it.
00:12:05
Speaker
That is amazing.

Vengeance and Creation

00:12:09
Speaker
God, oh, the next psalm is Psalm 94. It's only verses 1 through 15. And it's entitled, Shine. God, you are the one who pays sinful people back for what they do.
00:12:25
Speaker
Stand up, judge of the earth. Pay the proud what they should get. How long will sinful people be happy? They brag and hurt your people, God.
00:12:37
Speaker
They kill and say, God doesn't care. Listen, you fools. When will you become wise? God made your ears. So of course, God hears.
00:12:49
Speaker
God made your eyes. So of course, God sees. God is mad at the nations. So of course, God pays people back for the wrong they do.
00:13:01
Speaker
God teaches. So of course, God knows everything. He knows what people think. People are happy when they obey you, God.
00:13:14
Speaker
They are happy when you teach them your ways. You will save them from days of trouble. God will not turn away from his people. He will never leave his children.
00:13:25
Speaker
He will say what's right and wrong. All the people whose hearts are right will follow what he says.
00:13:34
Speaker
This reminds me of forgiveness. God says that vengeance is his, judgment is his. And when we are called to forgive, we are giving it to God.
00:13:48
Speaker
We are standing in the way when we are trying to get our just to do When we are trying to get something back from somebody, when we want them to pay for what they did to us, that is us trying to extract vengeance. That is us trying to make them pay. And it simply isn't our job.
00:14:07
Speaker
It's God's job to do. He alone will deliver what is just.
00:14:14
Speaker
He alone is going is the only one who's going to be fair and decide because he sees the heart. He knows what someone was thinking and what they meant when they did what they did. We may be hurt and offended, but did anybody deliberately go out and and and say, ha ha, I'm going to make sure Robin doesn't get her refrigerator on time.
00:14:34
Speaker
We're going to make sure we get all the way there and then we simply won't do it. No, no, they didn't. So i will I'm giving it to God, I've given it to God and it's up to him.
00:14:48
Speaker
And it's interesting, ah that's actually why Jonah was running from his job when God sent him, wanted him to go to Nineveh, is that he didn't want them to receive God's forgiveness.
00:15:01
Speaker
He wanted them to pay for what they did. And it's not our place to decide how people should be paid back. It's up to God. And he forgives us of our debts.
00:15:16
Speaker
And he may well choose to forgive theirs as well.
00:15:21
Speaker
And that is his divine right to do so. And so that is why Jesus taught us to pray. Because we have been forgiven.
00:15:33
Speaker
That we should also forgive the debts against us. Forgive us of our sins as we forgive those who have sinned against us. Forgive us of our debts because we could not pay God back for the sins that we committed.
00:15:47
Speaker
Sin demanded death. And Jesus paid that price once and for all so that we don't have to. And that took away the separation and God reconciled with us.
00:16:00
Speaker
And that's exactly what and we see here. God knows what people think. And although it seems to be asking for, you know, just for God to simply pay them back, it is it is acknowledging that he alone has that power, not us. It is his job, not our job.
00:16:25
Speaker
All right. Psalm 97 verses one through seven is entitled His Lightning. God is king. Let the earth be glad.
00:16:36
Speaker
Let lands far away by the sea show their joy. Clouds and darkness are around God. His kingdom is built on what is right and fair.
00:16:48
Speaker
Fire goes ahead of him. It gets rid of his enemies on every side. His lightning lights up the world. The earth sees it and shakes.
00:16:59
Speaker
Mountains melt like wax in front of God. The sky shows how right he is. All people see how great he is. People who worship idols seem like nothing.
00:17:13
Speaker
Worship God.
00:17:17
Speaker
In our first psalm, it was ah comparing and and when someone was looking at the ocean, the sea. And in this one, we see ah that they're admiring the lightning that God has made.
00:17:31
Speaker
We can admire the natural world that God has made and see him in everything. His lightning lights up the world. The earth sees it and shakes.
00:17:44
Speaker
The sky shows how right he is and all people see how great he is. When there is lightning, we can be inside of our house with the but the curtains or the shades closed and still see the flash behind it.
00:18:00
Speaker
The lightning that God created is very powerful. It's amazing. And can you imagine being in a time where they didn't have as much as we did to to to close everything up all around?
00:18:14
Speaker
They could see that lightning.
00:18:18
Speaker
People who worship idols seem like nothing. Worship God. Amen. Let's worship the God who created lightning, who created our mountains, who created our beautiful world.
00:18:31
Speaker
He alone created it. It was not an accident or a chance. It was designed with purpose.
00:18:41
Speaker
And his kingdom is built on what is right and fair. God is just. God is perfect.
00:18:51
Speaker
Psalm 98 is entitled, Make Music.
00:18:56
Speaker
Sing

Joyful Worship and Conclusion

00:18:57
Speaker
a new song to God. He has done wonderful things. His right hand saves. He shows the nations how right he is.
00:19:07
Speaker
He remembered his love and he kept his promises to his people. Shout to God with joy. Sing happy songs with music. Make music to God with the harp.
00:19:20
Speaker
Make music with horns. Shout with joy before God the King. Let the sea and everything in it shout out. Let the world and all who live it sing out.
00:19:34
Speaker
Let rivers clap their hands. Let mountains sing together with joy. Let them sing to God. he comes to judge the earth and he will judge people by what is fair.
00:19:50
Speaker
And that's the end of Psalm 98. Rejoice and make music. Make a joyful noise to the Lord. ah Sing a new song to God.
00:20:01
Speaker
Make up a song. We can make up songs to God every day. God loves to hear us make songs to him. He loves happy music and horns.
00:20:12
Speaker
He even declared that at the different festival times that the horns would be blown to signify different things. And he says that at the different festivals to blow those horns, he wants to hear them.
00:20:23
Speaker
Make a joyful noise to the Lord. Shout out, hooray! We love you, God. We love you every day for every reason we could possibly think of.
00:20:34
Speaker
We love you, God. Let's make a joyful noise for God today, shall we?
00:20:42
Speaker
Psalm 99 verses 1 through 5 is entitled, The King.
00:20:49
Speaker
God is the king. He sits in the king's chair between the heavenly beings. Let the earth shake. God is great in his city of Zion.
00:21:00
Speaker
He is great over all the nations. Let them praise his great and wonderful name. God is holy. He does no wrong.
00:21:12
Speaker
The king is strong. He loves what is fair and right. Treat God as the most important one. Worship at his feet, for he is holy.
00:21:26
Speaker
the lord of our The Lord our God never does wrong.
00:21:33
Speaker
I want to point out ah after it says God is King, it says he sits in the King's chair between the heavenly beings. This is the reference to the Ark box.
00:21:45
Speaker
The Ark box, if you remember, had the two beings and he said he would meet with them between them. So this is a direct reference to God being with them and his and sitting there in his presence between the two beings on the Ark box.
00:22:02
Speaker
I just caught that while I was reading that. God showed me that.
00:22:08
Speaker
The king is strong. God is holy. Remember, holy means to be set apart, different. God is definitely set apart. There is no other like him.
00:22:19
Speaker
He is special. And he does no wrong. His good and perfect will has no unfairness to it.
00:22:30
Speaker
It has no wrong. God is perfect. And he is perfect love. He isn't just perfect and he's not arrogant. He is love. And he loves what is fair and right And so we should worship at his feet for he is holy and the Lord our God never does wrong.
00:22:56
Speaker
This is our last song for today and it's entitled His Sheep. Psalm 100. Let all the earth shout to God with joy. Worship God and be glad.
00:23:09
Speaker
Come to him with songs of joy. Know that the Lord is god He made us. We are his people.
00:23:21
Speaker
We are like sheep from his field. Go through God's gates giving thanks. Go into his palace with praise. Give thanks to him.
00:23:33
Speaker
Cheer for his name because God is good. His love lasts for forever. he always keeps his promises. I feel like that needs an amen.
00:23:48
Speaker
Wow, I love these songs of joy, don't you? Let all the earth shout to God with joy. Worship God and be glad.
00:23:59
Speaker
Come to him with songs of joy and know that the Lord is God. It reminds me of the verse, be still and know that i am God.
00:24:11
Speaker
We don't need to worry about things. Just know that he is god He made us know that the Lord is God. He is our great I am.
00:24:25
Speaker
We are his people. He loves us. He doesn't just sit there and and rule over the earth and keep to himself. He wants to have a personal relationship with his people.
00:24:40
Speaker
He has put his Holy Spirit in us because he wants to be close to us. He loves us. He loves you. He loves me. It's not just a general people.
00:24:54
Speaker
You, you are his people. He loves you. He put his spirit in you. That is so wonderful. You can talk to God and he is with you always.
00:25:11
Speaker
Let's go through God's gates giving thanks for all that he does for us today and every day. Let's focus on today. Let's give thanks for what we he he has given us, even just today.
00:25:26
Speaker
Give thanks to him and cheer for his name because God is good. He always has our best interest at heart. His love lasts forever.
00:25:38
Speaker
And he always keeps his promises. What he says he will do, he does.
00:25:46
Speaker
Well, that is the end of our Psalms for today. i hope that you feel that God has lit your light and that you are full of joy with these songs of joy that we have been reading today.
00:25:58
Speaker
I am so happy. just it really just fills me with his spirit and I just feel so happy. i hope that you feel very happy and joyful and at peace with his peace that has no understanding because it's just amazing.
00:26:17
Speaker
I hope that God has filled you with his spirit and that you are just full, full, full.
00:26:23
Speaker
And I hope that as well as that, that you feel that God has lit your light today. And since we know no one lights a light and keeps it under a bowl, let's click that light button and show the world this event so that they too, everybody can see this, hear these Psalms, hear God's word and be filled with his love.
00:26:43
Speaker
and his light so that they too can continue to spread their love and light since we have Jesus with us and in us and working through us. And let's spread the word about reading God's beautiful word that brought us these wonderful songs of joy today.
00:27:00
Speaker
I hope everybody has a fantastic rest of what's left of their Monday. See everybody here again tomorrow.
