April 27, 2025 Daily Reading- Read the Bible in 1 Year

Daily Bible Reading with Robin at In the Family Way Coaching (Audio only)

7 Plays4 days ago

Thank you for joining me as we learn about the connection between  Passover, First Fruits, Shavuot (pronounced shav-oo-oat) and Pentecost.  As part of understanding and observing the festivals that God has  appointed for us to observe, we count the Omer (pronounced oh-mare)  today and then have our daily Bible reading session!

Here is the link for a downloadable devotional if you would like to  count the Omer for yourself. It has been put out by the Messianic  Congregation Shoresh David in Florida:   https://www.shoreshdavid.org/download/counting-the-omer-booklet/

Today we will finish reading Ecclesiastes with chapters 11 and 12 as  well as read 1 Kings Chapter 11. We will read about King Solomon not loving God with his whole heart and being led astray to worship fake  gods by the women he married from countries God said not to intermarry  with. In our discussion for daily application we will talk about the  importance of making God the most important one in our lives and remember that doing so is the beginning of wisdom. We will be reminded that Jesus taught us that we are not to go chasing after things we need like people who don't believe in God. God knows we need things. We are to seek God first and trust Him to provide for our needs. We will also remember the importance of protecting our minds by not spending time  with people who can influence us negatively and cause us to be drawn away from God and disobey Him. We need to love God with all of our heart, all of our mind, and all of our soul. This is THE absolutely MOST important thing we need to do every single day of our lives.

If you would like to join me LIVE for the daily reading you can register  to attend on my site, here:   https://www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com/schedule

Introduction to Omer Counting and Bible Reading

00:00:03
Speaker
Happy Sunday everybody! Today is April 27th, 2025 and you're here with Robin at In The Family Way Coaching and we are here for our daily counting of the Omer as well as our daily Bible reading.
00:00:17
Speaker
We are going through the whole Bible this year reading the Day by Day Kids Bible which has been written by Karen Henley. And if you are following along on your calendar Go ahead and take that out, and however you are marking that off, get that sticker ready, get that pen ready, and mark that off, because you're about to hear the Bible today.
00:00:40
Speaker
We are almost done with the month of April, and look how far we have read today, or this year in our Bible. We have read this much. You can't see it if you're listening to the podcast, but we are almost a fourth of the way done, because we're almost...
00:00:57
Speaker
that much way that that far along through the year.
00:01:02
Speaker
And

Understanding Shavuot and Devotional Excitement

00:01:03
Speaker
we are going to have our daily counting of the Omer. There are 50 days in all and they will count down the time to Shavuot which is also fulfilled in the New Testament with the day of Pentecost with the giving of the Holy Spirit.
00:01:21
Speaker
So I am excited And we will learn more about that as we get closer to Shavuot. And let's have our counting of the Omer. I love the blessing.
00:01:35
Speaker
It is a beautiful blessing. And we are saying that God is, I'm reading it here again to myself so I can think about it. It's just lovely.
00:01:47
Speaker
So let's have our blessing. And if you would like to count the Omer with me, just repeat the blessing and the counting after me.
00:01:56
Speaker
Blessed are you, o Lord our God, King of the universe, who has set us apart by your commandments and has commanded us to count the Omer.
00:02:13
Speaker
Today is the seventh day of the second week and day 14, I have counted the Omer.
00:02:25
Speaker
There are to be seven Sabbaths, so seven weeks after Passover that the Omer is. And so that's why we say which day it is and which week and which day of the 50 that it is.
00:02:42
Speaker
And I've really been enjoying the devotional that I downloaded from shoreshdavid.org. And I have that link to the devotional in the description below, if you are interested in checking that out for yourself.
00:02:58
Speaker
Today's theme

Reflecting on God's Love

00:02:59
Speaker
is the love of God. And I was really thrilled about this one. The thought is, The challenge rather was how do you know God loves you?
00:03:10
Speaker
Take note of a few scriptures about God's love for you and then write down how you know that he loves you personally. And I don't write anything down in these little things. I just have it on my phone, but I really enjoyed thinking of all of the ways that I could think of that. I, how I know God loves me because he has just done so much for me.
00:03:31
Speaker
And I know that if you were to sit and think about how, you know, God loves you, that you would also enjoy that. And so I want to encourage you

Completing and Reflecting on Ecclesiastes

00:03:41
Speaker
that even if you don't download the,
00:03:44
Speaker
and Omer devotional, that you take some time today to think about how much God loves you and try to think of a lot of the ways that how you know God loves you. And that's just a little extra bonus there with our counting of the Omer.
00:04:03
Speaker
That's not part of our daily Bible reading today.
00:04:08
Speaker
Well, we are going to be finishing up the book of Ecclesiastes today, as well as finish the teachings from King Solomon. And we're going to see our section about Solomon come to an end.
00:04:24
Speaker
And I thought that was very sad. I really enjoyed the time that we have spent learning about Solomon, reading his story and his great wisdom that he has for us.
00:04:36
Speaker
But we're going to see today that despite all of Solomon's wisdom, he was still a man and he was still imperfect. And God is going to have a consequence for him because he did something.
00:04:51
Speaker
So we're going to see that today. I should say he did not do something that he was supposed to do.
00:04:59
Speaker
All right,

Solomon's Disobedience and Kingdom Division

00:05:00
Speaker
we are going to finish with chapter 11 and 12 from Ecclesiastes, and then we will read 1 Kings chapter 11.
00:05:09
Speaker
Our first section is entitled, Light is Sweet.
00:05:15
Speaker
You don't know where the wind goes, and you don't know how babies are made in their mothers. You can't understand God's work. Plant seeds in the morning and plant more seeds in the evening.
00:05:29
Speaker
you don't know which will grow best.
00:05:33
Speaker
Light is sweet and it's good to see the sun. No matter how long people live, they should enjoy life. But they should know that there will be hard days.
00:05:47
Speaker
There will be lots of them. Be happy while you're young and do what you would like to do, but know that God will judge you for what you do.
00:06:00
Speaker
Chapter 12, Never an End God made you Remember him while you're young. That's before you have hard times.
00:06:14
Speaker
You'll have days when you say, i'm not happy.
00:06:20
Speaker
Remember God before you die. Your body will go back to the ground. Your spirit will go back to God.
00:06:31
Speaker
Nothing, nothing, the teacher says. It's good for nothing. The teacher, that was Solomon, remember, was wise. He taught the people what he knew.
00:06:45
Speaker
He tried to find out many things, and he wrote many wise sayings. The teacher looked for just the right way to say things. The things he wrote were right and true.
00:07:00
Speaker
There's never an end to how many books people can make, and too much study makes people tired.
00:07:09
Speaker
Now you have heard it all. Let's hear the end. Treat God as the most important one.
00:07:21
Speaker
Obey Him. This is what everybody is to do because God will judge what we do. God will even judge the things we hide. He will

From Kingdom Division to Jeroboam's Rise

00:07:32
Speaker
know if they are good things or bad things.
00:07:37
Speaker
And that is the end of Ecclesiastes.
00:07:41
Speaker
Our last section is 1 Kings chapter 11 and it's entitled Enemies.
00:07:49
Speaker
King Solomon loved the princess from Egypt, but he loved lots of women from other nations too.
00:07:58
Speaker
God had said not to marry people from these nations, but Solomon married them anyways. He had 700 wives, and each of them was a princess.
00:08:13
Speaker
He had 300 more women at the palace who were like wives, and none of these was a princess.
00:08:22
Speaker
All of Solomon's wives turned him away from God. they talked him into worshiping their fake gods. So Solomon did not love God with his whole heart.
00:08:37
Speaker
He built palaces to worship the fake gods. God got angry with Solomon. You have not kept loving and obeying me, said God.
00:08:49
Speaker
So I will take your kingdom away from you, but I won't do it while you're alive. That's because your father, David, loved me with his whole heart.
00:09:02
Speaker
I will take most of the kingdom away from your son, but I will let him lead a small part of the kingdom. That's because David served me.
00:09:15
Speaker
So God brought in an enemy, and his name was Hadad. Years ago, Joab had killed the men in his city, and Hadad was just a boy then. He ran away to Egypt where he met Egypt's king.
00:09:29
Speaker
He gave Hadad a house to live in. He gave him land and food, and Hadad married the queen's daughter, a sister.
00:09:40
Speaker
Now Hadad heard that David had died, so he went back to the land of God's people, and he became Solomon's enemy. Now God gave Solomon another enemy and his name was Rezan.
00:09:54
Speaker
He had run away from his master. Other men had followed him. They all made trouble.
00:10:02
Speaker
Then Jeroboam turned against Solomon and he had been one of Solomon's leaders. He did good work, so Solomon put him in charge of lots of workers. And one day Jeroboam was leaving the city of Jerusalem and a prophet named Ahijah met him.
00:10:20
Speaker
Ahijah was wearing a new coat, but Ahijah tore

Consequences of Not Loving God Fully

00:10:24
Speaker
his new coat into 12 pieces. He said, take 10 pieces, Jeroboam.
00:10:32
Speaker
God told me that he is taking the kingdom away from Solomon. God is giving 10 parts of it to you. Your part will be called Israel. And if you obey God, Jeroboam,
00:10:50
Speaker
God promises to be with you.
00:10:54
Speaker
After that day,
00:10:58
Speaker
oh Solomon's family will keep the small part that's left and Solomon's part will be called Judah. Then Solomon tried to kill Jeroboam, but Jeroboam ran away to Egypt and he stayed there until Solomon died.
00:11:14
Speaker
Then he heard Solomon's son, Rehoboam, was the new king. So Jeroboam came back from Egypt.
00:11:24
Speaker
And that's the end of our reading today.
00:11:29
Speaker
How about you? Were you sad to see the end of Solomon and all of his wisdom?
00:11:36
Speaker
I know I was.
00:11:39
Speaker
Ah, but we saw he was not perfect, was he? Even for all of his wisdom, he should have known better. He taught to make God the most important one, didn't he?
00:11:51
Speaker
We learned about that from Solomon. But we also learn that you're supposed to protect what goes into your mind. And we do that by what we see and by what we hear.
00:12:05
Speaker
And he had way too many wives. He was not obeying God because he took wives from places that God said not to marry people from. And so he allowed his mind to be infected. And he allowed them, the women, to turn his heart to worshiping fake gods.
00:12:27
Speaker
And he should have known better, but he did it anyways. And he did not love God with his whole heart. And our daily application today is to treat God as the most important one.
00:12:43
Speaker
Obey Him and love Him with our whole heart. With our whole selves, we should be loving God. Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, with all of your mind, with all of your soul.
00:12:59
Speaker
That is the way we are supposed to be loving God. We have to protect what goes into our minds by not being around people who give us bad things to to think about and do and who can tempt us from turning away from God.
00:13:14
Speaker
And we need to make sure that our focus stays on God because he is supposed to be the most important one. And we've talked about before that Jesus taught that we are to seek first the kingdom of God and everything else we need will be given to us.
00:13:32
Speaker
We're not to go chasing after things the way people who don't believe in God do because our heavenly father knows the things we need. So we don't need to try to pursue those things.
00:13:44
Speaker
We don't need to try to get things that we want because God is what we should be wanting.
00:13:53
Speaker
God was gracious with Solomon and he didn't take the kingdom away during his lifetime. He gave him a time of peace and he kept his promise. He said that his time would be a time of peace and it was.
00:14:10
Speaker
And he honored that because he says David, his father had loved him with his loved God with his whole heart.
00:14:21
Speaker
And that's how we have the division of the country of Israel. That's how it got divided into two parts, Israel and Judah. We see that it was because of Solomon not loving God with his whole heart.
00:14:36
Speaker
His actions are what would take that country and tear it apart for a long time. And it would be a long

Conclusion and Encouragement

00:14:44
Speaker
time before they would come back together again and be united as a single kingdom again.
00:14:52
Speaker
So let's try to do our very best to make God the most important one in our lives. That's the beginning of wisdom. Let's do our best to obey God. And let's love God with our whole hearts, our whole mind, with all of our heart, all of our body, all of our mind, all of our soul.
00:15:13
Speaker
Because he is the most important thing, the most important one that we could ever spend our time on.
00:15:23
Speaker

so that we can help spread the word about reading God's word so that other people will know to make God the most important one in their lives and how important it is to love him with all of their mind, all of their heart and all of their soul so that they can seek his kingdom first and know that everything else will be given to them after that.
00:16:31
Speaker
I will be here for everybody again tomorrow and I hope everybody has a great rest of their day.
