Episode 35: How to Stay Grateful During Difficult Times

3 Plays1 year ago

When it's November, the Thanksgiving season is upon us. Different people do different things during the season, but one common thing across the board is the feeling of being thankful. The question is, is being thankful the same as having the energy of gratitude?

Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday in the United States and Canada, where they celebrate the harvest and other blessings of the past year. During this holiday, people give thanks and spend time with their relatives and friends. Also, people tend to binge on specific meals like turkey, pies, and cranberry sauce. Lili was born and raised in Brazil. She only experienced Thanksgiving once she moved to the US. According to Lili, growing up, the most important holiday for her was Christmas.

Although born and raised in the US, Shannon could be a better fan of the Thanksgiving holiday. She dislikes Thanksgiving food and always eats before. For Shannon and Lili, the energy of gratitude is a state of being. Being grateful is a lifestyle. You can be as meta or micro as you'd like. Also, we must learn to be grateful for good and the challenging things. Sometimes, the bad things are a blessing in disguise, and we only learn that later.

Listen to this episode as we dive into the energy of gratitude.

Key Talking Points of the Episode:

[00:48] Thanksgiving: food, family, and Black Friday shopping.

[04:15] Christmas favored over Thanksgiving, biased due to diet.

[14:29] Practicing gratitude helps maintain a positive perspective.

[17:07] Gratitude for information and experiences shapes life.

[22:57] Overcoming struggle with positivity and affirmation.

Introduction to 'Psychic Girls Next Door'

00:00:05
Speaker
Welcome to psychic girls next door.
00:00:07
Speaker
We are your hosts, Lily Marino and Shannon Miller.
00:00:10
Speaker
This podcast is for all spirituality enthusiasts and psychics next door to share tools, experiences and spiritual practices that align with your highest vibrational self.

The Energy of Gratitude on Thanksgiving

00:00:21
Speaker
So today's episode, we will be talking about the energy of gratitude and how fitting because this episode airs on Thanksgiving Day.
00:00:30
Speaker
which is a national holiday in the United States and Canada, where they celebrate the harvest and other blessings of the past year.
00:00:39
Speaker
So this holiday is like a moment where people give thanks and then spend time with their relatives and friends.

Thanksgiving Traditions and Cultural Perspectives

00:00:45
Speaker
You know that I did not grow up with Thanksgiving.
00:00:48
Speaker
Do you have, I guess, like a replacement?
00:00:52
Speaker
That's a weird word.
00:00:53
Speaker
No, we do not.
00:00:55
Speaker
You know, so if this is your first time listening, I am born and raised in Brazil.
00:00:59
Speaker
And I've learned about this tradition of Thanksgiving when I moved to the U.S. where people, you know, you get together with family.
00:01:06
Speaker
There's like a big meal and you eat all day long.
00:01:12
Speaker
And then you're in a food coma for the next few hours.
00:01:15
Speaker
And there's also like a time where people, I guess, go to that Black Friday shopping.

Consumerism vs. Gratitude

00:01:20
Speaker
Oh, yeah.
00:01:20
Speaker
Right.
00:01:21
Speaker
Which is like the next day.
00:01:23
Speaker
And I thought it was just so strange.
00:01:26
Speaker
I mean, coming.
00:01:27
Speaker
Yeah.
00:01:28
Speaker
Like an outsider perspective or like, you know, not someone who like grew up in the US.
00:01:33
Speaker
So my family never did Black Friday.
00:01:36
Speaker
Um, I mean, we didn't really have the extra money to do that, but a lot of people, like, I know a lot of my friends' families did Black Friday.
00:01:45
Speaker
Um, and now with, like, sustainability and, like, you know, trying, or trying to be sustainable, I think Black Friday has kind of, like, gone out the window.
00:01:54
Speaker
Yeah.
00:01:55
Speaker
Yeah, I think after the pandemic, we couldn't actually like gather in overcrowded places.
00:02:01
Speaker
And I guess they found other ways just to kind of have like an ongoing sale.
00:02:05
Speaker
But I thought it was so strange that people would, you know, give thanks to whatever they had on Thanksgiving

Debating Thanksgiving Foods

00:02:13
Speaker
Day.
00:02:13
Speaker
And then the next day, they were like basically on each other's necks.
00:02:17
Speaker
capitalism yeah to like to get that like a d on a tv yeah and i was like i was horrified and i just like i still think it's pretty strange but um if and then you guys eat very specific foods to you on thanksgiving yeah i'm never a fan of yes i am not a big fan either and i thought because like i didn't grow up here so it had acquired like a specific taste yeah
00:02:44
Speaker
And if you're not familiar with the Thanksgiving meal, so there's very specific things that, you know, kind of with the fall theme, right?
00:02:50
Speaker
Yeah, like turkey, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, pecans, stuffing, like cranberry sauce, like a green bean casserole.
00:03:04
Speaker
I just never was like a big fan of it.
00:03:07
Speaker
So I think I was never like really into...

Thanksgiving's Cultural Significance

00:03:10
Speaker
Like the celebration itself, but I do get like the, this energy of being thankful and appreciating what you have.
00:03:18
Speaker
Yeah.
00:03:19
Speaker
I feel like Thanksgiving is totally a baby boomer holiday.
00:03:23
Speaker
Like, or even like the silent generation.
00:03:26
Speaker
Like, I feel like they kind of set the tone of like the types of like weird foods.
00:03:31
Speaker
Because if you think about like what you're eating, if you think about if it was someone who would like grew up in the 30s, 40s, 50s,
00:03:38
Speaker
They kind of just got whatever ingredients they had and like kind of put it all together.
00:03:42
Speaker
And there you got it.
00:03:44
Speaker
Oh, throw in some green beans.
00:03:45
Speaker
We got a green bean casserole.
00:03:47
Speaker
Yeah.
00:03:47
Speaker
And people just like came up with stuff probably like along the years.
00:03:51
Speaker
But I know it's also like the most important holiday here in the U.S.,
00:03:57
Speaker
Because I grew up like more the most important holiday being Christmas, right?
00:04:02
Speaker
Because I grew up in a very like Catholic oriented country.
00:04:06
Speaker
Right.
00:04:06
Speaker
And then when people would ask me, oh, what are you doing for Thanksgiving?
00:04:11
Speaker
I'm like, nothing.
00:04:12
Speaker
Nothing.
00:04:12
Speaker
People will look at me like, oh, no, it's like the most important holiday.
00:04:17
Speaker
You have to join us.
00:04:18
Speaker
I'm like, OK.
00:04:19
Speaker
I feel like it's like I feel, you know, religious connotation aside, I'm
00:04:26
Speaker
the holiday season of Christmas is probably more appreciated than like Thanksgiving, but that's someone I'm biased because I don't like, I don't eat meat, you know, I'll eat like fish, but like, I don't eat turkey.

Season of Gratitude: Initiatives and Pressures

00:04:42
Speaker
I don't eat like the weird combination casserole stuff.
00:04:45
Speaker
I don't really, I mean, a lot of people like, you know, love to just like binge eat on Thanksgiving.
00:04:51
Speaker
And I'm like,
00:04:52
Speaker
that's just like not my vibe and I don't like what I'm eating.
00:04:55
Speaker
Like I'll have mashed potatoes.
00:04:57
Speaker
I usually eat before ever since I was young.
00:05:00
Speaker
I've always eaten before.
00:05:02
Speaker
Um, you know, if you're smart and you don't like the food eat before.
00:05:06
Speaker
Um, so I don't know.
00:05:07
Speaker
I feel like,
00:05:09
Speaker
Yeah, it's like a mixed bag.
00:05:10
Speaker
Christmas, Thanksgiving, they're kind of like hand in hand.
00:05:14
Speaker
Yeah, but it kind of also, I think it's, I don't know, at least I can only say here in Northern America.
00:05:21
Speaker
I would say like Thanksgiving kind of kicks off like the season of gratitude.
00:05:26
Speaker
Yeah.
00:05:27
Speaker
Giving back.
00:05:28
Speaker
Giving back.
00:05:28
Speaker
People have like the food drives, donations.
00:05:32
Speaker
Yeah.
00:05:32
Speaker
And that's where people are, you know, and this is where they gift others and things like that, you know, so I kind of maybe get people get more in that season of gratitude, which.
00:05:45
Speaker
You know, I understand at the same time that it kind of the whole holiday theme, it kind of, you know, it brings all these feelings.
00:05:54
Speaker
But I also like growing up in a very religious country too.
00:06:01
Speaker
This theme for me of gratitude has a little bit of this added pressure.
00:06:07
Speaker
I don't know if it feels that for you, but it's like, oh, you have to be thankful for what you have.
00:06:14
Speaker
You have to, it doesn't matter.
00:06:16
Speaker
Otherwise you're not considered like a good person.
00:06:20
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, there is a connotation with like, you know, if you're not grateful, then you're not a good person.
00:06:27
Speaker
Or if you're not thankful, you know, you have to list like 10 things you're thankful for.
00:06:34
Speaker
Like, I know in school growing up, they would have us list all these things and like, you know, make
00:06:40
Speaker
hand turkeys and all of that.
00:06:42
Speaker
And it's kind of like that indoctrination of like, it's almost like you get to just like show up and be thankful for that one day.
00:06:51
Speaker
But if you think about it, like how have you been showing gratitude the entire year?
00:06:55
Speaker
Yeah, exactly.
00:06:56
Speaker
It's not only those like few weeks of a year,

Understanding True Gratitude

00:07:00
Speaker
but like on a daily basis, how do you connect with this energy of gratitude?
00:07:06
Speaker
And I think there is a little bit of a difference between being thankful and being grateful.
00:07:12
Speaker
Yeah, totally.
00:07:14
Speaker
At least in my opinion, I would say like being thankful, it's more like this...
00:07:19
Speaker
It's like this feeling of like, oh, you know, thank you for doing something for me.
00:07:24
Speaker
Whereas gratitude, I think it's more like an appreciation.
00:07:27
Speaker
It's like a core deep level feeling for me.
00:07:30
Speaker
Yeah.
00:07:31
Speaker
Where you like appreciate whether this current moment or what somebody has done for you.
00:07:37
Speaker
But it's kind of like, it's interesting too that I always like I will...
00:07:42
Speaker
Here are people complaining about things.
00:07:46
Speaker
And I will always ask, well, but is there anything that you're grateful for in this situation?
00:07:53
Speaker
And it doesn't necessarily mean that it has to have something that you have to be grateful for.
00:07:58
Speaker
But I think it helps to shift things.
00:08:02
Speaker
the energy of whatever you're going through.
00:08:05
Speaker
Like right now, I have to say I am not in my greatest, highest vibrational states.
00:08:16
Speaker
But I do dedicate a moment, like especially I think before, like I fall asleep just to pray and just kind of list a few things that I'm like, I'm grateful for that day.

Daily Gratitude Practices

00:08:30
Speaker
Yeah, I think that's such an important thing to do, especially if you end your day, if you start your day with a gratitude practice.
00:08:37
Speaker
I think it can shift like how you're feeling about the day-to-day life or whatever you're going through.
00:08:46
Speaker
Like I'm always super thankful for my cat.
00:08:50
Speaker
So like I, you know, being just being able to like coexist with her in this life, like how amazing is that?
00:08:57
Speaker
So like you can be as meta as you want to or you can be as micro.
00:09:01
Speaker
Like I'm so thankful I have really nice tennis shoes that get, you know, that protect my feet on a day to day level or like whatever you're, whatever you're thinking.
00:09:11
Speaker
And you're still allowed to feel however you feel.
00:09:15
Speaker
You know, I feel like I'm,
00:09:17
Speaker
a little anxious, but I'm still grateful that I do have a roof over my head and that I'm healthy so I can, you know, go on with life's journey.
00:09:28
Speaker
But I feel that sometimes, especially I think spirituality too, there's this...
00:09:35
Speaker
kind of this narrative of, oh, you know, you have to be grateful.
00:09:40
Speaker
It's like the shadow of spirituality.
00:09:42
Speaker
Grateful, like, it's everything, and it's the answer to all and all.
00:09:48
Speaker
It's almost like kind of mirroring perfectionism in spirituality in a way, like, you know, these concepts of gratitude and even just being spiritual and being mindful.
00:10:00
Speaker
All of it has this, like,
00:10:03
Speaker
almost like the the being able to it almost feels like like how can I say this like kind of striving towards something in a way on some days we're like you know if you think about like it's not a thing that we should strive for it's a thing that just exists right
00:10:23
Speaker
Yeah, it's like a state of being.

Challenges and Pressures of Gratitude

00:10:25
Speaker
Yes, it's a state of being.
00:10:26
Speaker
Yes.
00:10:27
Speaker
And it seems also there's the narrative is also about like, well, you know, just whatever you are, whatever you have, that's it.
00:10:36
Speaker
You know, it's kind of like a little bit putting a limitation around, well, you should be grateful what you have.
00:10:44
Speaker
Right.
00:10:44
Speaker
And then almost like shame, like a shadow, like a little invalid, invalidating, like, you know, oh, you should be like that should energy.
00:10:53
Speaker
Exactly.
00:10:54
Speaker
Oh, I have to be grateful.
00:10:55
Speaker
So the shoot and the have to.
00:10:57
Speaker
Right.
00:10:58
Speaker
And then it puts like guilt in your space if you're not in the energy of gratitude.
00:11:03
Speaker
you know when someone does oh you should be you should be grateful yeah because it's not every yeah because not every day you wake up in this you know bliss of gratitude right I mean this would be so unrealistic for me to say that oh totally uh because I do think that you can you can be grateful uh for whatever maybe it's the situation is teaching a lesson and but you can still want more
00:11:27
Speaker
Oh, absolutely.
00:11:27
Speaker
You know, like, no, but I still want to, you know, have better things in my life.
00:11:32
Speaker
I want to have a, you know, do this and that.
00:11:36
Speaker
Right.
00:11:36
Speaker
Like, I don't think one excludes the other.
00:11:38
Speaker
Yeah.
00:11:38
Speaker
Like, I'm grateful for this and I want more or I'm striving for this or I want to achieve this, whatever, you know, like practicing.
00:11:50
Speaker
what it feels like to be grateful for what you have, but you can, I fully wholeheartedly agree with you, like still knowing that you deserve more and you want more and that's okay.
00:12:01
Speaker
So, yeah.

Presence and Appreciation through Gratitude

00:12:03
Speaker
But gratitude also helps me in a way just to stay present because I look at it and say, okay, I am grateful.
00:12:11
Speaker
So it's like this awareness and of accepting that,
00:12:17
Speaker
What I have now, instead of looking at the or focusing on the lack.
00:12:23
Speaker
Right, right.
00:12:23
Speaker
Which I think would be kind of like the opposite.
00:12:26
Speaker
I think that's a healthy sort of energy, right?
00:12:28
Speaker
Yeah.
00:12:28
Speaker
I think like, you know, focusing on what you have versus focusing on what you don't have.
00:12:35
Speaker
I think that's like the light side of gratitude.
00:12:38
Speaker
It's like the shaming of like, you should be grateful.
00:12:40
Speaker
That's more like the shadow side.
00:12:42
Speaker
Cause like everything has shadow and light.
00:12:44
Speaker
Right.
00:12:45
Speaker
So being able to be grateful for what you have,
00:12:50
Speaker
And still, it's both, both exist, right?
00:12:53
Speaker
Like being able to practice it.
00:12:55
Speaker
True truths belong in the same reality.
00:12:57
Speaker
Exactly.
00:12:58
Speaker
Exactly.
00:12:59
Speaker
So I think when you are...
00:13:01
Speaker
if you're very new to the concept of like practicing gratitude or not really sure, like what is, what does that feel like in your body?
00:13:09
Speaker
It's almost like it helps to make a list of what do you appreciate in your life?
00:13:16
Speaker
Cause I think gratitude and appreciation is, is very, very similar to me.
00:13:20
Speaker
Like, what do you appreciate?
00:13:22
Speaker
What makes you, what brings you joy?
00:13:24
Speaker
Like, what could you absolutely like
00:13:28
Speaker
Not live without or like, you know, someone who adds to your experience, someone who makes you laugh, whatever those feelings are, like, kind of like not to be toxically positive, but the lighter energy.
00:13:43
Speaker
like the higher frequency feelings.
00:13:45
Speaker
Yeah.
00:13:45
Speaker
And it feels good to be in the state where you appreciate things in life because you, it's an acknowledgement.
00:13:55
Speaker
You acknowledge whatever it is and it doesn't have to be only the good things because people associate, oh, you're only grateful for the positive things, which of course, you know, we are grateful for the positive things.
00:14:08
Speaker
But also,
00:14:10
Speaker
acknowledging and appreciating that there are challenging moments too that teach a lot of things and help evolve and grow and there is a sense of appreciation into that at least I feel that helps me to get where I want to be or where I am today because you know that's where you learn

Learning from Experiences

00:14:33
Speaker
Right.
00:14:33
Speaker
I love that perspective because like I went through like a shitty job experience recently.
00:14:40
Speaker
I mean, who hasn't?
00:14:41
Speaker
And I think if I didn't practice gratitude pretty consistently, like, you know, in my life or my perspective, my attitude, my outlook, like if I was...
00:14:54
Speaker
I think before this meditation work that we've done, I don't know if I was present enough to even be fully grateful, if that makes sense.
00:15:03
Speaker
But now that I have like the tools that we have and just more awareness of like being grateful for what you have and understanding like it's okay to still want more.
00:15:15
Speaker
I think being able to
00:15:17
Speaker
like practice gratitude does come a little bit easier when you are feeling more positive.
00:15:24
Speaker
Yeah.
00:15:25
Speaker
Or things are flowing.
00:15:26
Speaker
Things are working out.
00:15:27
Speaker
Right.
00:15:27
Speaker
Absolutely.
00:15:29
Speaker
How do you practice gratitude when things may not feel like they're working out or flowing as easy as they were?
00:15:38
Speaker
Yeah, you're going through challenging times.
00:15:40
Speaker
And then the last thing that the person wants to hear is about being grateful or being this energy of gratitude when they don't even feel that way.
00:15:52
Speaker
Right.
00:15:53
Speaker
So it's challenging.
00:15:54
Speaker
Yeah.
00:15:55
Speaker
You know, and I think we're human, so we probably all go through that type of feeling where it's really hard even to find things to be grateful because in such a state of suffering.
00:16:08
Speaker
Like if you had a MNTB and you just like... Yeah.
00:16:12
Speaker
You know, and life is hard.
00:16:13
Speaker
You know, there are a lot of hard things that are happening in your life, whether a loss or, you know, I also went through, you know, we're talking about shitty jobs.
00:16:24
Speaker
We're on the same boat where things did not work out.
00:16:28
Speaker
But it was interesting that I only saw the benefits of not being that job anymore after I was kind of like got kicked out of it.
00:16:40
Speaker
And that's gratitude.
00:16:41
Speaker
And that is the gratitude of it.
00:16:42
Speaker
I was like, because then I sat with myself, I'm like, oh my gosh, I'm grateful that didn't work out.
00:16:47
Speaker
Right.
00:16:48
Speaker
I'm grateful that things didn't really align because it wasn't meant to be and I would be miserable.
00:16:55
Speaker
I just knew it.
00:16:56
Speaker
Oh, totally.
00:16:57
Speaker
So sometimes a gratitude factor might come maybe afterwards, not necessarily like when you're in that moment, that challenging moment might come later when you when you realize there was more to it or maybe there's a lesson.
00:17:11
Speaker
Yeah, I think like the I'm for me, I'm most grateful for information and experiences.
00:17:18
Speaker
And like, that's how I kind of categorize how I practice my gratitude.
00:17:23
Speaker
Like, you know, my experiences with the creatures who live at my house or like with people in different places.
00:17:31
Speaker
Yeah.
00:17:32
Speaker
through learning experiences, like going through a job and be like, okay, I now know what I will not tolerate.
00:17:39
Speaker
I want to be respected.
00:17:41
Speaker
I want like, it's more for like this human experience that we're all experiencing together.
00:17:46
Speaker
Like, how do you, you know, kind of recognize like what works for you versus what doesn't work for you.
00:17:53
Speaker
And I think going through shitty job experiences or any experiences,
00:17:59
Speaker
It can provide you a lot of insight and enlightenment towards like what you are looking for and narrowing down kind of like your target range for like the next job or the next time you go on that trip or like, oh, really glad I learned that I need to, you know, buy a pass to enter this place or whatever it is.
00:18:19
Speaker
It's almost like a blessing in disguise.
00:18:21
Speaker
Like at the moment, it's hard to

Practical Gratitude Expressions

00:18:23
Speaker
see it.
00:18:23
Speaker
But afterwards, somehow we ended up like realizing what was lying underneath all of that.
00:18:30
Speaker
But I think another word that I use instead of being using this word like grad, because grads sometimes feel so like big and grandiose.
00:18:41
Speaker
I also say I appreciate it.
00:18:43
Speaker
Yeah, I appreciate it.
00:18:45
Speaker
I appreciate just having a laptop where I can do my work.
00:18:51
Speaker
Right.
00:18:51
Speaker
And I can stay connected with people.
00:18:53
Speaker
I appreciate the water that I drink.
00:18:55
Speaker
So it keeps me hydrated and alive.
00:18:57
Speaker
So I think also like appreciation.
00:19:01
Speaker
I mean, it's all kind of connected.
00:19:03
Speaker
Yeah.
00:19:03
Speaker
Yeah.
00:19:03
Speaker
But it's this acknowledgement that you're like, okay, I noticed all these things.
00:19:10
Speaker
And so there's an energy that you kind of like you recognize.
00:19:16
Speaker
Yeah.
00:19:17
Speaker
I also think of like gratitude as like not taking what you have for granted.
00:19:22
Speaker
Yes, absolutely.
00:19:24
Speaker
You know, whatever it is.
00:19:26
Speaker
And I see like if somebody is consistently helping you,
00:19:31
Speaker
And if you are a person who doesn't have the social awareness to say thank you,
00:19:37
Speaker
Or I appreciate it.
00:19:38
Speaker
Or it's so easy to say those two phrases to somebody.
00:19:43
Speaker
And even if you are not a words of affirmation person, I am.
00:19:47
Speaker
I'm going to say thank you.
00:19:48
Speaker
I appreciate you for anyone who helps me, whether it's opening my door or at the grocery store, whatever it is.
00:19:55
Speaker
And like, you know, not everyone is verbally comfortable expressing their feelings in this day and age of technology that we're in.
00:20:03
Speaker
But I think being able to
00:20:05
Speaker
at least show it, because if you offer them help in the future or, you know, they might have connected you to somebody, you can connect them to somebody.
00:20:17
Speaker
So it's kind of giving back and that can be a way of like kind of practicing gratitude from an acts of service or, you know, that type of way to practice gratitude.
00:20:28
Speaker
Yeah, well, it creates like a ripple effect.
00:20:32
Speaker
What do you do for others?
00:20:34
Speaker
They might inspire them to also pay forward.
00:20:37
Speaker
And I love that.
00:20:39
Speaker
Sometimes you just plant the seeds.
00:20:41
Speaker
Yeah.
00:20:42
Speaker
Because again, with energy, it's like like attracts like.
00:20:46
Speaker
So the more you are in this mode of appreciation, just recognizing that.
00:20:53
Speaker
things either big or small in your life, I think the energy that complements that will always be matching that in your space.
00:21:04
Speaker
Because if you're focusing on the lack or being different to things or things like that, then you're going to attract more of it.
00:21:14
Speaker
Right.
00:21:14
Speaker
Exactly.

Gratitude's Impact on Mental Health

00:21:15
Speaker
I mean, law of attraction, I had been feeling like kind of mentally unwell.
00:21:22
Speaker
It's like lately, I don't know.
00:21:24
Speaker
That makes the two of us lately.
00:21:25
Speaker
Sometimes some days are better than others.
00:21:28
Speaker
And I was just like, someone had reached out to me on LinkedIn and asked me like, oh, you have such great experience in your career growth.
00:21:36
Speaker
Like, how did you do it?
00:21:37
Speaker
And I just like started crying.
00:21:39
Speaker
crying like two days ago I just or maybe yesterday it feels like two days ago and I just started crying because I'm like I don't even have a job what advice can I give somebody who like I'm like that's so nice they see that on my resume I'm like would a recruiter say that can can someone who's gonna hire me see that but I think it's amazing that I think the universe speaks to us in many different ways yeah and it's kind of like it was probably a way just to remind you
00:22:06
Speaker
Right.
00:22:06
Speaker
Because you can feel really unworthy and like kind of like unvalued and like, oh, I'm never going to get a job.
00:22:12
Speaker
And then I went down a rabbit hole on TikTok of looking up like, what's the job market look like?
00:22:18
Speaker
Oh, it was depressing.
00:22:19
Speaker
Yeah, because then you're conditioning yourself.
00:22:21
Speaker
Right.
00:22:22
Speaker
Unconsciously.
00:22:23
Speaker
And you're matching the energy.
00:22:24
Speaker
Yeah.
00:22:25
Speaker
Because if you see things, oh, it's going down, you're going to believe it's going down.
00:22:29
Speaker
Things are going to go down.
00:22:31
Speaker
Like, oh, God, it's like a hopeless, you know, pit for me, like whatever it is.
00:22:35
Speaker
And then that person messaged me.
00:22:37
Speaker
I haven't replied yet because I literally dropped it up this like sad sob story.
00:22:41
Speaker
But what a blessing to have someone just to remind you, you know, you are a great professional and you have great experience and they...

Shifting Energy with Gratitude

00:22:49
Speaker
I mean, I don't know if you know this person personally.
00:22:54
Speaker
I don't at all.
00:22:54
Speaker
Yeah.
00:22:54
Speaker
But like, but just by looking at your profile, they thought you're very inspiring already.
00:23:00
Speaker
And I think that's amazing.
00:23:01
Speaker
No, that is amazing.
00:23:02
Speaker
And it kind of made me kind of take a step outside of myself.
00:23:06
Speaker
you know, not to like put my full power or personal power into a stranger's words, but it made me, you know, kind of be like, okay, maybe I am not in this dark pit as I am, have been feeling, or like, you know, I need to take a step back.
00:23:23
Speaker
And then I was like, really like having a mentee be about like, just not having much progress until I
00:23:32
Speaker
I was like, fuck this feeling.
00:23:34
Speaker
I don't want to feel down.
00:23:36
Speaker
I started listening to the Audible of The Secret.
00:23:39
Speaker
And I had read the book in 2020 and it did a lot of, like, good things for me at the time.
00:23:45
Speaker
And I was like, I just need to listen to, like, positive affirmations, like...
00:23:51
Speaker
the energy, the frequency that I want to personally run at, it was like more, it was a very like when Elle Woods got into Harvard, like, you know, like what, like it's hard, like let's, let's flip the energy.
00:24:05
Speaker
Let's, and honestly, like then I had two people reach out to me, one for an, maybe this was on Wednesday.
00:24:12
Speaker
So one for an interview today that I had and I'm moving forward to the next round, which is great.
00:24:18
Speaker
And then the other interview is through a recruiting search firm and they're going to submit me for a role.
00:24:24
Speaker
And it's like I hadn't heard in weeks like it was crickets because I was feeling internally.
00:24:33
Speaker
Like, you know, whether that's ingrateful or like not worthy, whatever those feelings are, I was kind of attracting that.
00:24:42
Speaker
Yeah, you're just projecting to the outside world.
00:24:45
Speaker
That's basically what it was.
00:24:47
Speaker
But I love the fact that you are intentional with shifting your energy because I want people to also realize that, you know, just recognize and say, you know, I'm feeling shitty today.
00:24:59
Speaker
Oh, totally.
00:24:59
Speaker
It's okay.
00:25:00
Speaker
Yeah.
00:25:01
Speaker
We all have our shitty days.
00:25:02
Speaker
Yeah.
00:25:03
Speaker
But like, how can I intentionally shift that?
00:25:06
Speaker
How can I feel better?
00:25:07
Speaker
Or shift my perspective.
00:25:08
Speaker
Yeah.
00:25:08
Speaker
And Grady, you mentioned that because whenever I get into those funky moods, I also tell myself I don't force myself to get out of it.
00:25:20
Speaker
But I intentionally will find ways to kind of make my environment feel better, whether it be, you know, listening to like uplifting speeches, like motivational things, a podcast like ours.
00:25:34
Speaker
Hello, hello.
00:25:37
Speaker
You know, surround yourself with people also that, you know, they make you feel happy that you connect with people.
00:25:48
Speaker
Or just find things that bring you a little joy, you know, during the day.
00:25:52
Speaker
It can be food, can be a TV show, you know, just to kind of like get you out of, just to shift that, you know, that icky feeling.
00:26:01
Speaker
Yeah.
00:26:01
Speaker
And like whatever makes you feel good, whether that's like, you know, eating chocolate or going on a walk.
00:26:06
Speaker
Like for me, going on a walk always helps my mental health.
00:26:09
Speaker
But if I feel, if I'm in the pit and I can't even leave my house,
00:26:13
Speaker
I decided to put on the secret and take a shower and that reset.
00:26:18
Speaker
Like literally the shower is such a cleansing experience.
00:26:21
Speaker
Yeah, it's just simple things like that that you can do at home.
00:26:25
Speaker
You don't have to spend money, but just know that you're not alone.
00:26:29
Speaker
Even as psychics, too, we struggle because we're humans, but we can always, you know, find ways to shift that energy, shift the perspective, you know, send us a message.
00:26:41
