What is up goal line listeners? We are back with our week 16 episode of the goal line. Jordan is fresh off the airplane from Vegas, man. What's going on? Yeah, he is not shitting. I am, uh, four hours removed from Vegas. So, um, we're going to do a condensed episode today. This has been a, this has been a long weekend. So it was good, but yeah, we'll, uh, we'll talk about everything that happened. But yeah, it was a, it was a good weekend, but yeah, I'm exhausted.
00:00:42
Speaker
Yeah, slightly abbreviated version tonight. Jordan's got some catching up with the family to do. We're getting ready for Christmas and my daughter's birthday this weekend. So me and Sheena got you know the whole last Toys R Us. We got to get wrapped up tonight. So we were free to celebrate this weekend. So let's get right into it. You ready to go, Jordan? Let's do it.
00:01:06
Speaker

Sports Highlights & Commentary

00:01:35
Speaker
Well, let's ah let's get into your team first this week because then I'll just go on my Vegas rant. um Titans lose, Will Levis looks absolutely clueless in that game. um I don't really know what to take from that game. I mean, the Bengals just kind of toyed with them that entire game. It should have been a Way worse score, but the Bengals kept fucking around at the end of that game. I don't know what they were yeah Titans defense made some Titans defense made some plays too But they just didn't get out a lot of support from the offense at all until they put in Rudolph man I'll say Mason Rudolph came in with 21 for 26 a couple of touchdown passes So the Bengals defense was still the Bengals defense, but we'll let us just turn over prone man I mean he had if he if you only read part of the box score It looks alright, you know He was eight for twelve for about a hundred yards pass him and then you get the three picks dudes out of his four incomplete passes three of them got picked off
00:02:24
Speaker
man. Like it's just that's brutal. anyway It wasn't bad luckier. It was just some bad reads, man. Dude just does not see the whole field. Like I i think he's, for whatever reason, man, just does not got, it's I don't know if it's field vision or anticipation or what, um but he just, you know, he throws the kind of picks you throw on Madden. Like when you're kind of just getting used to playing on the high difficulties, like you never, you you know, your guy might have his man beat, but you're missing that guy that's lurking a couple of yards ahead, coming coming back across the field. And it just happened so often and, you know, he came out this evening that he's benched for this week. I don't think Callahan's ever been a big fan of him from the start. I feel pretty fairly confident in saying that it's the end of the Will Levis era in in Tennessee, which is a bummer, man, because there there's been some glimpses and he does seem like a really good dude, but I just don't think he's an NFL caliber quarterback. I've been saying that for a while that he kind of had me fooled this last month that maybe he really did turn a corner. but
00:03:17
Speaker
I don't know. I think, uh, if he's going to be NFL quarterback, I don't think he's going to get a shot to rehabilitate here with the Titans, man. I think they're cutting bait. Yeah. Just not good at all. I just, I don't really know. I agree with you about Callahan too. I don't think that's who he wanted. And, um, there's going to be some quarterbacks on the open market this year. Um, you could take one of the projects from college. You just, I just don't think you can move forward with this guy at this point. So yeah, we're, we're, we're both in agreement on that.
00:03:46
Speaker
Um, all right, so you know who I wouldn't mind real quick before we move on. I wouldn't mind seeing them take a chance on John Brownie, man. You know, he did really good for the Bengals last year. Obviously, Callahan i was there would never get any of these names, right? Like, I swear to God, you switch everyone's first name for someone else. It's Jake Browning, Jesus. Browning, whatever, dude. Brown, you know, what um you knew exactly who I was talking about. man Let's grab him day from the I don't think they're bengles I don't think the Titans can keep going bargain bin though. Like at some point you got to commit to someone. Like I just, I don't know, man. I just, I don't know what they're doing. And yeah, it's been a mess for theyve spent so much money this off season too. And like, this is the result for nothing. They're going to get a top five pick. This is bad at this point. I just, they, they spent money just to spend it. Like I really think like that the owner just told the GM like, go, go spend this money on somebody, do something.
00:04:36
Speaker
Dude, that they're they're are in the process of building that stadium. That opens in two years, right? Yeah, it's gonna be a losing team with minimal momentum. like You have to have put something on the field next year that looks like some sort of a football team that might have a future you can't if this is what you're running out there again next year, they are fucked because they have the PSL's Falcons have struggled to sell there's like, I just I don't know, this is not a good look from this team. I think they'll they got to settle on a quarterback first and foremost. So
00:05:07
Speaker
Well, the bad thing is, dude, it's going to be this super shiny stadium right there off Broadway. You know, Nashville is already a big tourist destination, at least in that the early part of the season before the cold weather really comes in. It's going to be getting to, you know, they're going to be playing road games at home is what's going to happen.
00:05:22
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, and I'll get into that a little bit here when I start talking about Vegas, but yeah, yeah that's not a good look. I mean, it happens that for the Falcon Stadium too. like get you It just can rips your soul out, man, when you're at home and there's more, you know, the away team takes over the stadium, man, but I can i can see it happening right now, dude, because yeah, like if I was a you know, an opposing team, dude, Nashville would definitely be what if I'm going to an away game, that's going to look very attractive to me going to catch in a game in Nashville for the weekend. It's just this this if you haven't been there, their stadium set up like and you really can have a better stadium set up as far as like, you know, game day vibes and experience and post game like it's just a great place to eat and drink and hang out and then you can walk right over to the stadium. Yeah, it's really cool.
00:06:06
Speaker
All right. Let's, uh, w I'll just kind of talk about my weekend in Vegas first. Um, so sat, we, we flew in on Saturday. We went to the NBA cup, the Eastern conference game. It was Hawks and Bucks first. Um, the whole thing was cool, man. They had Vegas decked out for this. Like I was kind of skeptical what this was going to look like, but it was actually really cool. Like the entire outside of a T-Mobile was all set up for it. Um, The TNT and the ESPN crews both have their setup right outside the arena. I mean, it was really cool I get they actually did a really good job with it. I was really impressed with what the NBA did the game was fun um but the the coolest thing is I bought um they were behind the Basket I bought some tickets last week. They were like 140 bucks, which I thought was fair
00:06:58
Speaker
Um, and the guy who I bought the tickets from sent me the wrong tickets and they ended up being club seats. So yeah, we, uh, it was definitely a come up. Those seats were like $581 a piece face value. And yeah, there was a, it was a cool experience. They had private bathrooms and, uh, they had like a chef cooking and everything like that. It was crazy, but yeah, $20 a beer. That was a, not a upside at all of this whole thing, but yeah, it was fun.
00:07:25
Speaker
ah Sunday we went to the sports book at Caesars Palace and just watch football all day. Dude, just the ah the finals for the NBA cover tonight, right? Yep, it's tonight. It's Thunder and Bucks tonight.
00:07:37
Speaker
Yeah, Sunday, we just went to the sports book all day and watch football day at the Caesar sports book, which is an awesome sports book. If you're ever in Vegas, um, yeah, just sitting in a leather recliner all day and just watching nothing but football was, was definitely a treat. It was, it was a lot of fun and the afternoon games really delivered and did watch in,

Falcons' Performance Concerns

00:07:56
Speaker
uh, NFL football at 10 AM m is insane. I know you did it a lot when you lived in Hawaii, you did the 8 AM m games, but.
00:08:03
Speaker
best Just watching NFL football at 10 a.m. Is incredible and then Sunday night football starts at 5 20 is just It was a it was a long day, but it was a good day. I definitely missed the area kickoffs for you It's it's tough to beat man. You just see you can do breakfast in football, which is just delightful the other thing I wanted to say too is Falcons fans absolutely took over Vegas this weekend there was Falcons fans everywhere and Every buddy we met was really cool. My friends aren't Falcons fans, but they just kept saying how nice all the Falcons fans were and everything. And um Monday we went up to Mandalay Bay and ah just kind of did some shit around there before the game. and then
00:08:43
Speaker
their tailgate scene at Allegiant Stadium is God awful. It is miserable, which I get it. I mean, this is just another one of those things. It's a destination for opposing fans. It is like there's no, I mean, I don't think that's offensive to say it to about Raiders fans and every Raiders fan we met was really cool. They were all really good. There was a season ticket holder behind us and he comes up to us for the game. He's like, I try to make this bet with every opposing team's fans and no one will do it.
00:09:10
Speaker
Whoever scores first, if the Raiders score first, you guys owe me a beer. If the Falcons score first, I'll get you guys a beer, no matter what the score is. And Falcons obviously scored first, and you got us all a beer. I mean, it was really cool, man. the The hospitality was awesome. The stadium was full. I was shocked. I thought this place was going to be fucking empty. It was extremely full. And like I said, there was so many Falcons fans at this game. like It didn't really feel like an away game. I mean, there was an ATL chant in the middle of the game. it was It was cool. It was, it was a fun, fun atmosphere. The game was absolute garbage. I am very concerned about this team at this point. I told you when they were six and three, I didn't think they were very good. And last night gave me absolutely zero thought that they're going anywhere positive right now. Uh, having Bijon
00:09:58
Speaker
absolute treat, but outside of that, I just I don't know what this team is going to do. Kirk Cousins is is not it. They they got him. I mean, they can't move on yet, but. You just drafted a guy eighth overall, like dude, at least let us see what it looks like. The Falcons are not winning the division because the Bucks are not losing even a game. I don't think down the stretch and the Falcons would have to win out. So yeah, I, I would love to see Penix play the last three games, just see what you got. And I i saw someone say today, once you go to Penix though, you can't ever go back to cousins. So dangerous game to play. But I mean, you drafted the guy eighth overall and you just got an entire season out of Kirk cousins. So.
00:10:37
Speaker
Yeah, and I was reading on it. It said, you know, Kirk Hudson's obviously signed that big deal for the most part, like after next year, they can kind of cut it without a lot of penalty and stuff. It's really front-loaded over those first two years. So, you know, I don't know if he'd be cool to stick around as a backup. I don't know how that's going to play out. But, you know, Kirk Hudson's like a pretty good dude to me, man. But who's going to take that contract,

College Football Insights

00:10:56
Speaker
though? That's the thing. And they're not going to just outright cut him and just pay all that dead cap. Like somebody would have to take it. I'm saying, I wonder if he's going to be a problem child, man. I think he'll be a good soldier if it comes to that, dude.
00:11:07
Speaker
I mean, dude, he has to know the way he's playing right now is not starting quarterback level on the NFL. Like he's, he's awful. Dude, he's got so much money. You can't be getting mad about shit like that, man. bro krk He needs to go chill, man. He's cashed out. His, his NFL career has been like beyond what anybody's wildest dreams could have been for him coming out of a Michigan state all those years. yeah No matter what he's getting a hundred million dollars from the Falcons for two seasons. Like he he can't, i'll do I'll take that double to hold a clipboard and be a cheerleader and a sounding board. And dude, I I just think he could be really helpful for panics to like learn in the NFL game. Like Kirk cousins has been there. He's done it. And I mean, it's just, it's just one of those things. It's like, yeah, it's unfortunate. Like Kirk seems like a great guy, which it almost seems like that's like the perfect scenario for the Falcons. Oh, is that he is such a good guy? You know,
00:11:54
Speaker
Yeah, um, but well, so what's your read man? do You think pennies go start Sunday? I know I know up to now Morris has been like steadfast and like Kirk Hudson's is our starter Like don't ask about this and he was very noncommittal talking about it this week Yeah, I I don't know man. I just everything that I saw about breakdowns his cousins missed a lot of throws that he should have made um I mean, I was watching it in the stadium and I Yeah, the offensive line sometimes just is like a leaky faucet. I don't get what happened to the offensive line either. Maybe this is like a scheme issue, but
00:12:26
Speaker
I don't know. dude This is the other thing too. And I said this to everybody sitting around us. Bijon had 20 carries for 125 yards. He was barely in the game in the fourth quarter when you're trying to run the clock out. Like I get that Algier is a good back. He is not Bijon dude. This season has shown that Bijon is an absolute star. Like there's, there's, amazing man there's no way around it. Like I love Algier, but just the way he runs, like unless he gets out in the open field, the problem is, is he just likes to run into people. So he was just running directly into the D line and getting two or three yards of carry. Like that's not what they needed at that point. They needed the i was a solid contributor, but B john, he's a game changer to him. He's the ah pro football focus has him as the number two running back in the league this year about mind, uh, say quads. Yeah. Like you gotta, that guy's gotta be on the field when it's, you know, the game clinching time. I just didn't get it. But yeah, I mean, overall though, like, uh, How mad can I be like? I went to a game a road game and the Falcons won and it was in Vegas, which made it cooler. um This is my second time going to a Vegas game. I definitely recommend that. That's a good game to go to. Even if you're not a gambler, man, I get it. Vegas is just a cool city. Definitely not a family friendly city. Do not take your family to Vegas. That is an absolute mistake. And I saw so many kids this weekend. It's just
00:13:42
Speaker
It's not a place for families, man. Like yeah I get if you're standing like outside of the strip, but the strip is not stripping Fremont Street or not family friendly at all. I am really interested to see what they do with WrestleMania because I was just like looking at it. I'm like, this is not good.
00:13:58
Speaker
Well, the tickets are so expensive. I don't think it's going to be kids there anyways. Yeah, that's true. All right. That that's it, though. I just I want to talk about my Vegas weekend and stuff. And now we can we'll break down some football here. We're just going to go kind of speed around with these Rams and 49ers on Thursday night. I don't even know what we need to say about this game other than it was awful. Whether it was bad injuries, power up for the Niners, 49ers season from hell continues. Did you see the end of the commanders and Saints game?
00:14:26
Speaker
I did. I don't know why the... Go ahead. Hold on. There is something going on with NFL officiating this year. like Something is going really bad. Every single call in the fourth quarter went against the commanders. There was numerous calls that could have been made against the Saints that they just didn't make.
00:14:45
Speaker
and then To top it all off, the Saints get down to the two yard line. The ref runs in in signals to stop the clock. The Saints had no fucking timeouts. They stopped the clock for two seconds. I watched the the breakdown of it on like somebody's Twitter feed. and They stopped the clock with nine seconds left. There should have been two or three seconds that ran off the clock. By the time the Saints spiked it, there was only two seconds left on the clock. The game should have been over.
00:15:11
Speaker
like i don't yeah I don't know how that didn't get reviewed. The side judge literally runs in and signals for them to stop the clock, which you do not stop the clock in the NFL on a first down. and nobody They didn't review it or anything. I didn't see Dan Quinn making a big deal of it. It's like, dude, did nobody watch this happen on the field? I don't know, man, it's weird.
00:15:32
Speaker
there's dude There's so much money getting dumped in and the NFL is so in bed with the gambling side of this now that you have to be naive and I think there's at least a little bit of influence. mail I don't necessarily think games are straight up fixed. I think what the players are doing is still legit, but you know, it wouldn't shock me at all to find out that they're telling the refs, you know, if you got a chance to lean this way, lean this way, you know what I mean? and I don't think there's anybody outright saying like go longest yard style and just freaking cheat, but I think they're, you know, I think there's some, some undue influence going on. It's funny that you say that because the commanders were a seven point favorite, six and a half to seven, depending on work what book you saw that they were up by seven points when that was happening. And then the saints score. So the commander is no longer covered. Like how much money switched on that play alone. Yeah. I got you, man. Especially if you know, people were probably, you know, the betting public was probably leaning Washington big on that. You know what I mean? Yeah. i guess so
00:16:24
Speaker
Yeah, I thought the Saints going back to just the exes knows of it, dude. I like the call to go for two to go for the win. I hated that play. That was a terrible play. Like that. I mean, that play they called like it wasn't necessarily a bad play, but it's just a high degree of difficulty, man. It's a high degree of difficulty in the first quarter with no pressure on man, much less.
00:16:47
Speaker
with the, with the game on the line, dude, I would have rather done some kind of like bootleg where he's got a couple options, but you literally just, you know, you sprinted Spencer Rattler at just having fell into this sliver of space at the side of the end zone, man. Like I just don't know how in that situation we're going to go for two for the win. You don't have something better, a more high percentage play that that you can go to. Yeah. I didn't, I, I, that was a weird ending to that game. I just, I didn't really know what we were watching. Uh,
00:17:12
Speaker
There wasn't a whole lot from the early window that I wanted to talk about, but my home's getting hurt was obviously the big thing that happened in the noon window. I just, I mean, I say said him this week, man. I think these are two really big games for the chiefs though. Like these next 10 days are extremely vital for the chiefs on whether or not they get home field or not. I mean, well, they can drop one though. They got the two games They got Ravens and Steelers in a four day span though. Like, yeah, that's what I say. I say just straight up take are not Ravens Carson. Yeah. Carson Wentz, you know, he, there's worse options out there, right? Especially with Andy Reed coaching him up, man. Like I'm interested to see what that looks like. I think it's going to be better than how we saw him for, you know, the, uh, you know, the red, the, the commanders and, um, the Colts over his last couple of stops.
00:18:02
Speaker
I think you just got to eat it, man. Give him a whole week to to recuperate, dude, and then just go balls out. I think this team's shown that when it gets to, you know, the rubber meets the road, they can they can bear down and get a win. I think you just set him this next week, let him get all the way back, and then, and then hey, playoffs start those last two weeks, man, and go all out. That's my play if I'm them. Obviously, we don't know the severity of it, um but, you know, Mahomes is a dude, especially the way the offense has been this year. He's relying on his wheels a lot more than usual. man. Even if it's not just, you know, he's running the ball a lot and then he's scrambling around a lot to before, uh, before making his throws. So, so here's the thing I said to me, I said him down. Here's the thing I took from that too. Once they said it was a high ankle sprain, it immediately came out that he was week to week. Usually if, yeah if someone's going to play this week, they say day to day week to week usually means he's not playing this week and it's questionable for next week.
00:18:54
Speaker
And Andy Reeds aren't even talking up Carson Wentz in the press also. like i ah To me, all signs pointed to him. Yeah, he's I don't think Mahomes plays this Saturday. And I still have questions on whether or not he plays next Wednesday on Christmas Day. Dude, there are three games stretched on the, at the end of the season, it's brutal.

NFL Updates & Speculations

00:19:12
Speaker
Texans, Steelers, and ah Broncos down the season. like That's a brutal stretch down the season. I mean, there those are physical teams. So we'll kind of see what happens.
00:19:23
Speaker
Uh, I did want to touch on this. The Panthers were favored for their first time in 33 games and just got absolutely obliterated by a bad Cowboys team. Like Cooper Rush was dealing, dude, that's really the Panthers needle was, was looking very up. And now I don't really know what, what we're looking at at this point. Like it just, it's still a panther. That was bad. That was really bad. Um, this one surprised me. The bucks hung 40 on the chargers defense. Like dude, I, I did not see that coming.
00:19:55
Speaker
I don't know. I still I'm completely perplexed at how the Falcons beat the Bucks both games and looked damn good doing it. Yeah. Like what happened? Because the Bucks, they're looking dangerous. They're like, I would not want to play them. They're going to have no pattern. But unless that unless the wheels fall off, they're going to have a home playoff game, which, no you know, they're going to have a good chance of winning and then rolling in the second round with some momentum daily. It's going to be a dangerous team. and two I would not want to get that four seed right now, man. I would not want Minnesota coming to play you right now that team.
00:20:25
Speaker
Minnesota was good. still I I still have trouble getting, generating that much fear against Sam Darnold, but yeah, they're playing damn good. I mean, then when lost they're they're still in the mix to be the one scene, the NFC man. They get totally forgotten about after, um, with Philly and Detroit doing what they're doing, man. But, but yeah, dude, Minnesota is right there in the mix for the one seat band 12 and two. That's tough to freaking do in the NFL.
00:20:52
Speaker
Yeah. And they play in one of, if not the best divisions in football. Like it just, it absolutely blows my mind that people are still sleeping on the scene. Like they're good. I think they've won seven straight now, man. so Seven straight games. And they're, like I said, they're just, they're happy to just kind of toil in the shadows of, uh, of Detroit and Philly. Yeah, they're, they're good, man.
00:21:11
Speaker
Um, another surprise, dude, everything we said last week about this Eagle Steelers game was completely off. Like the Eagles are a machine of a football team Steelers later, Jalen hurts. You know, it's thinking Silas, all the haters that he's had going and Jay Brown, like everybody talked about AJ Brown, Jalen hurts, having a terrible relationship. They both balled out this weekend. Like that team is really good, man. They're going to be a tough out.
00:21:35
Speaker
and the defense put the clamps on a Steelers team that has it, you know, it hasn't necessarily been explosive, but it's been efficient moving the ball and getting points on the board, man. They held Russell Wilson to 128 yards passing, man. They didn't, you know, Naji Harris had that they like 15 yards rushing. Like they just, they, they really clamped down on them. They just, they, they played the brand of football that the Steelers love to play. They just played smash mouth football and they hit them in the mouth and the Steelers could never get back into it. Uh,
00:22:04
Speaker
Bill's lions, dude, I don't really even know what to say about this game. It's just, I mean, how much more like praise can we heap on these two offenses? Like Josh Allen's just, he's winning the MVP. It's, it's a runaway at this point. It it is, it is sad that it's a runaway cause Lamar is statistically having his best season ever. I mean, the guy's thrown three picks and it was three drop balls. Yeah. He's just been like,
00:22:29
Speaker
efficient though. I feel like he hasn't had the straight up explosions like we've seen Josh Allen go. Josh Allen has been nuclear the last two weeks, man. Really last three weeks, even going back to that snow game. Lamar just had a really good game. And just like just so we're on the same page here, Josh Allen has 25 touchdown passes, Lamar has 34. Yeah, but Josh Allen also has 11 rushing touchdowns though, man. But like lamar is going absolutely nuclear too. It's just it's really seems like it's under the radar for some reason this year i I don't really understand. I feel like he hasn't had as many highlight plays this year like he's he's almost making it look too easy, you know he like he look too easy He's doing it looks so easy that it's not jumping off words I feel like Josh Allen is just making wild ass plays that like, bro, it, it just, it jumps off the screen when you see it on October 6th, Lamar has two interceptions in that span. Like that's absolutely insane to play that long and only throw two picks. like
00:23:21
Speaker
Yeah. Lamar's playing great, man. Any other year he, he, he'd be the MVP for sure. But I think the losses go against him. Um, and like I said, man, it's just, I think he's got a little bit with Derek Henry being there. I think that takes a little bit off of it. Whereas Josh Allen, you know, he lost his, at least what was on paper, his number one weapon this off season and he's taken it to a whole nother level. Yeah, I get it. But yeah, it's just,
00:23:44
Speaker
It's crazy. I do want to hit and talk about the Lions. Dude, the injuries are just, it's getting to a point now where I just, it's really starting to cause doubt on me if they can do this. I did see a stat today. No team has ever allowed 45 points on their home field and won a Super Bowl. So.
00:24:03
Speaker
ah That's really working against like, dude, I mean, at this point, like if they end up losing, cause they, they can't stop somebody on defense. It's just, it sucks. I mean, their entire front seven is out. Like they're, they're starting front seven that started week one or out they're all on IR. And then they lost two more corners yesterday. like Who lost David Montgomery at running back? I mean, I just don't know, like, how much more they can take. Like, it just, I mean, there are over 20 players on IR. It's just, I feel bad for them, man. This is an all-time season, and it's it's just going to end like this, so.
00:24:36
Speaker
It sucks. ah Speaking of David Montgomery, did you see that his rushing prop on the season through Vegas was over 775 and a half yards? He ended on 775 on the dot.
00:24:51
Speaker
That's not how does that even happen? Somebody put the, is we're going to find out he didn't really tear his MCL. He got a small like lump some from, uh, from draft Kings data to go ahead and shut it down. That is insane. Um, uh, Sunday night game Packers, this team is dangerous, man. that They are tough. They made Seattle look awful that entire game. I, and if Seattle doesn't have Gino, that team is screwed. I mean, I think that goes without saying, but I just, yeah, not good.
00:25:22
Speaker
Uh, that's it. Well, I, like I said, I just wanted to speed around through these and then, uh, yeah, let's, uh, let's get into some picks with college football and NFL.
00:25:52
Speaker
Such a banger, man. Such a friggin banger. Unfortunately, they're not playing the playoffs. i bad um All right, let's get into it, man. What did what did you what? we What was your thoughts on Travis Hunter winning um the Heisman? Dude, I to me, man, I saw a ton of people coming out, saying Jettie should have wanted it. Jettie had a damn good season. But I feel like what Travis Hunter did this year was like one on one, man. I I didn't think it was that in my mind. It wasn't that particularly tough of a decision. on Who should get here? Here was my issue with the whole thing the whole time.
00:26:25
Speaker
Everybody based this off how many stats or how many snaps he played this year not just based on stats Like he wasn't number one at either position he plays so I get all that I don't know, man. This is like the weirdest season ever for college football. I feel like like we get the playoff and there was no like runaway favorite for the Heisman. Like I just, ah I get it. I get why they gave it to him. Like Genty definitely deserved the flowers that he got. But I mean, if this was ever going to happen, this was to me, the season that was going to do it. Cause there was just, I feel like if Dylan Gabriel would have had like 5,000 passing yards or something crazy like that, I feel like they would have gave it to him since they were the number one team. but
00:27:06
Speaker
There was just no unanimous winner. So in the end, they decided to give it to Travis Hunter. And I'm OK with it, man. it It is what it is. He's he's a generational player. but Yeah, he was one of the best wide receivers in college and a really, really great cornerback, man. like ah So I think, yeah, I get it. like Maybe there was a better receiver and there was a better corner. But who else could have done it on both sides? And thank think about how good he'd be at wide receiver if he wasn't also playing defense, man. Well, we're about to find out because he's going to play a wide receiver in the NFL. And we're going to find out.
00:27:37
Speaker
I think his marketing team's going to say he's got to play both ways, man. He's not playing both ways. I think there's too much money in that. Dude, he is going to get destroyed in the NFL playing both ways. There's no way you can convince me that that can work now. He will get destroyed. I don't think so either, man. And the thing is, I think you could be a badass quarterback that has a package of plays on offense, right?
00:27:55
Speaker
I think that's possible. I think you can be a full-time corner and do a little bit like what Dion did, right? yeah Like be a full-time corner and, you know, play 10, 15 plays on ah offense. I think you can do that. I don't think you can go part-time on defense, man. I think defense is a ah full-time job. You got to be balls deep in that playbook, breaking down film, watching tendencies, working on technique, all that, dude. I don't think you can... You can't bullshit it. And he's clearly is... He is a really, really good corner, a really great corner, but he's a better wide receiver. He just is, dude. He's better at wide receiver than than corner. I think we've seen that over...
00:28:25
Speaker
three years of college football now. Um, and yeah, I just, I don't think you can go, he's, he's obviously not going to play both ways full time. I don't think you can go, you know, part-time quarterback, dude, but I feel like from marketing standpoint, I feel like his agents are going to press for it because that's really the differentiator, but dude, we'll see what happens, man. Okay. So but let's just say that that that's what they do. They want him to play both ways.
00:28:47
Speaker
I'm telling you, dude, him covering like AJ Brown and stuff and Justin Jefferson, this is a completely different level than college, man. Yeah, like I said, you can't do it part time. There's no way. You're not coming in. Yeah, you can't. I don't think it could work. I'm just, but that doesn't, you know, we see shit happen all the time in sports that you know it's a bad idea going in, but it happens anyways, man. So I just, you know. How many times do we see it too? Like this is kind of what I brought up.
00:29:14
Speaker
to someone else about

Michael Vick's Coaching Role

00:29:15
Speaker
this. Like how many times do you see like a generational college football player going to the NFL and just get roasted? Like it's just it's just a different game, man. Like it happens all the time. It's so much more physical and like there's no Derwin James in college football that's coming downhill to smoke you after you catch the ball. Like there is nobody like that in college football. Like wait till you go across the middle and there's someone waiting and you're not the fastest guy anymore on the field. Like it's just I don't know, man. I just don't see a way he can play both ways. Like I just. Yeah, I agree, man. Especially when you're burning a top five pick on him, there's just there's no way he needs to be the best player at one position on the team for you to draft him that high. And you can't just have a good player on two positions drafting him top five.
00:30:04
Speaker
Um, what do you think about Mike Vick going to Norfolk state, man, be their head coach. I mean, it it'll help with like getting eyes on the program and stuff, but like in the end, I mean, I feel like we're going to see this more and more with like players going into college coaching. Um, I mean, we saw everybody looking for the next d We saw penny at Memphis like I mean like look how many eyes he attracts to that program Like it's just it's one of those things man. Like you're a superstar We cannot go any further without talking about bill bill check going to North Carolina though we talked about it last week. Yeah, I feel like this is i thought we we did touch did touch on land we didn't We didn't talk about it. We moved on I went back and listened to it. We never talked about it.
00:30:43
Speaker
Oh, I thought we did. I thought we talked about successful. because He wasn't, he didn't get hired yet. It was just, it was rumored that he was going to get hired. I think it's going to be a dumpster fire, dude. I think in the end it's a dumpster fire. Just navigating the NIL and transfer portal waters is going to, that's a lot for him, man. I I mean, dude, that was half the reason Saban left Bama was because of that shit. Like he didn't want anything to do with it. It's just... Well, you know, he's bringing in that huge staff, man. I don't know how much recruiting and NIL type stuff Belichick's doing, man. I could see him like maybe being the closer or on big players, but if you... If you read that, like you know they called it the Bible that he gave um to UNC for basically everything he needed to happen for for him to take that job. It sounds like he's going to have like a coaching staff and then a whole other staff that's managing recruiting, NIL, all that stuff.
00:31:31
Speaker
um But you know if you look at his contract, it's kind of funky dude. He's got a very, very low buy low buyout after this season. um I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being just a one year super weird thing. And he's back in the NFL next year, man. He's definitely left the door open to quickly get back to the NFL.
00:31:48
Speaker
But I'm kind of with you, man. I have a hard time seeing this being ah a big success. Dude, how many, seriously, I mean, just just think about it. How many coaches that coach the way Belichick does, I mean, he's a hard-ass coach. Like, he is not a ah smile and be your friend coach. Like, that's not who he is at all. I mean, Brady's talked about it numerous times. Like, a lot of the shit that pissed him off about him was that's the way he was all the time. There was no room for happiness at any point.
00:32:15
Speaker
Like how long is a college kid going to be okay with that? I just, I don't know, my college and NFL are just two completely different things. I just, I don't know. I get what he's going for too. He said it's basically going to be like an NFL finishing school. You know, like we're going to be the pipeline to the NFL for players, but The thing is, dude, you're going to need a couple of years to kind of establish that pipeline before people start buying into it. you know I don't think college players are automatically going to believe it. You're going to need to see you know proof of concept with a few guys um before that starts to be something they can really, really lean on for recruiting. And I don't know how long Belichick's got. I mean, dude, he's i mean he seems to be you know really sharp and in pretty good shape. But there's no spring chicken, man. He's in his 70s, dude. he's got He's got a lot more in the rear view than he does in the windshield at this point. Yeah, I agree. i just
00:33:01
Speaker
I mean, we'll see, dude. He's one of the best coaches ever. So anything could happen.
00:33:07
Speaker
All right. You ready to pick these games? Let's do it. All right. so Starting off, we've got some Friday night lights, the battle of Indiana. People calling it the battle for little Sebastian for the the parks and recs fans out there. We got Indiana at Notre Dame. Notre Dame is only a seven point favorite, dude. i The more I think about it, man, I'm kind of pissed off that Indiana is even in this, dude. I think they're going to get freaking smoked, man. I'm predicting a 20 point 20 plus point victory for Notre Dame. Yeah, I think Notre Dame wins easily as well. this This is wild, too. Like this is some history. Notre Dame does not do Friday night football. I think they said this is like the first time in like 30 or 40 years that they're playing a Friday night game at Notre Dame. It's going to be a scene, dude. yeah and Don't be a shitload of Indiana fans there, too, man. It's going to be crazy. is
00:33:53
Speaker
This has got to be the biggest football game in Indiana history, right? I'm pretty sure this is the most expensive ticket for the playoffs, too. So yeah, this is this is going to be a wild game. But yeah, I just I feel like Notre Dame is just a lot better. But dude, Indiana has this thing, though, man, if they get out in front of you, they are a front running team. If they get out in front of you, like and they just don't slow down. So I mean, watch for that. But if Notre Dame scores early, I feel like this game will get out of hand really fast.
00:34:21
Speaker
Yeah, and don't get me wrong, man, it's cool that Indiana's here, but I just feel like it would have been more fun if you had like a South Carolina or Alabama, like a team that actually had a chance to go on a little bit of a run. Yeah, but the problem is, is then you're just completely disqualifying conference play at that point. Like you're just calling it irrelevant. Yeah, you're right, you're right. I agree. Like I said, man, I totally acknowledge Indiana. They did what they need to do to make the play off, man. Yeah.
00:34:43
Speaker
Uh, cause the season, like like we said last week, the season's got to matter, man. If we're not gonna, if we're just going to say the 12 best teams, then why even play the game? Yeah. There's no point. Like just do it before the season. All right. So we're both in, but we're both in agreement. but We're, we're thinking Notre Dame wins pretty big. I do. I think Notre Dame wins easily.
00:35:00
Speaker
All right, uh, we got, so Saturday we had a triple header starting off at 11 o'clock SMU at Penn state. If you would have asked me before the, uh, the big 10 championship, I would have thought that SMU had a pretty good shot, man, but I was really, really impressed with that performance Penn state had against Oregon. They really took them to the limit. ah Offense was more explosive than it's been all season. Um,
00:35:24
Speaker
I think SMU is going to show some fight. They got some serious athletes down there. And this is again, you know, this is the, we said his biggest game in Indiana history. This this is the biggest game for SMU in almost 40 years, man. Like it's been a long time coming. They were, you know, for the, the youngsters out there, dude, they were a straight up powerhouse in the eighties and then they had in trouble for some severe recruiting violations. Got what was known as the death penalty. Basically had to hit the reset button on their, um, their football program. and They're finally back, man. But I think they're running to a buzz saw, dude. That's going to be, Happy Valley is going to be an absolute freakin' circus. I don't see them going in there and getting a win, man. I think they hang close for a quarter, quarter and a half and Penn State runs away. I think we're going to get another blowout in this one.
00:36:04
Speaker
Yeah, I just, I don't see, I mean, yeah, and I guess Penn State could play like complete garbage and they could win like that, but I just, I don't see it, man. It sounds like it's going to be cold and rainy that day too. Like I just, I don't know, man, I don't i don't have a good feeling at all for, um, SMU, but again, great season for them. It's just, this is the wrong place at the wrong time, you know?
00:36:30
Speaker
Yeah, agreed. All right, so we got those those are our two little appetizers. I think we got our really our tasty games coming up in the evening, man. Dude, i don't get Texas is a 12-point favorite over Clemson, man. I've watched a ton of both of these teams this year. I don't see them being a 12-point favorite, man. like i get Texas is definitely the favorite. I'm gonna let Jordan pick his first. I'm still kind of going back and forth. ah I think Texas is ripe for the picking, though, man. I really, really do. What's what's your take on this game?
00:36:57
Speaker
i just I agree with you. I said after last week, I just, I'm not a big believer in this team, but the problem is I'm not a believer in Clemson either. Like every time they came up against a good team outside of SMU, they lost. Like I just, I'm not a believer in this Clemson team at all, man. I mean, look at their three losses. They got beat 34 to three against Georgia, 33 to 21 against Louisville and 17, 14 against South Carolina. Like I don't know, man. Let me give you two sets of stats. I think Texas wins. One quarterback has 2,600 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, nine interceptions. The other quarterback has 3,300 passing yards, 33 touchdowns against five interceptions, man. Like, dude, Cave Klubnick's a better football player than Quinn Ears.
00:37:44
Speaker
I mean, dude, that is also against ACC defense as opposed to SEC defense. I think that- But Texas played SEC light though, man. they they the The Indiana schedule that they had against the Big 10 this year, that's what Texas had against the SEC. You got to remember too though, yours didn't play two games. Like I'm not defending the dude, but I mean, Arch did play two of the games. You're right. He didn't play two games and he still threw four more interceptions.
00:38:08
Speaker
ah Dude, you're never going to convince me that when yours is a good football player, I think he's fucking garbage. Like I've i've gone on record. no We were on the opposite side. Last week I was defending him and you're the one. too No, I think when yours is absolute garbage, i I think they're making a gigantic mistake still starting him. Like arch is the better football player by far. But having said that, I think Texas does win. I think their defense does enough, but I agree with you. 12 is too much. Their defense is really good.
00:38:34
Speaker
I know, you know what? fuck I'm going Clemson, bro. I'm going with my gut on this one, dude. I think Clemson goes there. da the k Clemson's a good team. The other thing is all the pressures on Texas, man. Those two, you know, they lost both times against Georgia, dude. Second time with a backup quarterback in the second half. They're at home. I feel like all the pressures on them were, dude, how many people had Clemson completely left for dead six weeks ago? Yeah, I agree. And here they are, dude. You know, Davos coached in a ton of big games. Institutionally, like, they know how to get up, everything it takes, all the travel prep. It's not going to be a big deal for this program to go and play this game, man. I agree. Yeah. I'm not saying, I said I thought 12 was too many. I think this game is going to be close either way. Yeah, I think it's going to be a good game. Same, dude. I'm going to my head, dude, family's life on the line. I'll probably go Texas. But for the sake of the pie, so we got something to argue about next week. I'll go Clemson winning this one. All right.
00:39:24
Speaker
All right, and then the main event, probably the best game of the weekend. I may be a little bit biased, but I do think it's gonna be a good one. This is the best game. Tennessee and Ohio State, man, in Columbus. Ohio State seven and a half point favorite. That feels heavy to me too. Here's what I'm going to say about this game. I think Ohio State needs this game 100 times more than Tennessee needs this game. I think no matter what. Tennessee season's already a success no matter what. Ohio State season is on the fucking brink of being a complete failure. I think Ohio State needs this game really bad. I think if they lose this game, I think Ryan Day possibly gets fired. And I think that's what they're... Because there's been rumors that Vrable wants to take that job now.
00:40:00
Speaker
what ah what a What a good fit that would be, dude. I think Ohio State wins, just based on everything I just said. I do feel like their roster is better, but I do not like Ryan Day at all. I feel like he collapses in big games. Them having home field, though, I think will be the difference. i just yeah ah Dude, was ah offense it's just been so inconsistent I would love to see Tennessee win, but like in a defensive battle, like which offense do I trust more? I would probably go with Ohio State just barely.
00:40:30
Speaker
Again, I don't know if these offenses it can be explosive, but dude, it's just illustrative disappeared, dude, like they're all their offense will can straight up die for a quarter at a time, man, where they just do nothing, dude, nothing but three and outs, putting it right back. You know, i've I've watched them more than any team, obviously all season long. And like there's, but you know, they'll go a quarter and a half where they do absolutely nothing on offense. And then I don't know where Nico one cork, like a 65 yard pass in the air on the run. You're like, where the hell has that been? and That's why yeah, I just, I, I fear, I think they're going to lose a low scoring game. And I think Tennessee's defense, I put them right there with, yeah with Texas and Georgia for best defense in the country. I think they're going to lock Ohio state down. I just, I've really, I think the offense is going to struggle to get, to get to 20 points, man. And I think
00:41:16
Speaker
You know, I hope I'm wrong, man. I pray I'm wrong. But I think what is also known, I think Ohio State is going to walk out of there with a hard fought, low scoring victory. I think I honestly think it's going to be like 24 21 or 24 20. I think it's going to be somewhere in there, but I just.
00:41:30
Speaker
I don't know, man. Tennessee could win. they could totally go I could see Tennessee rolling, dude. All the pressures on Ohio State, similar to the Texas Clemson game, dude. Tennessee season's already a smash success that they made the playoffs with you know the freshman quarterback, man. like the The best is still ahead of this kind of this core that Tennessee's got right now. um And like you said, dude, Ohio state, they, they definitely got to win this game. They may need to win the next one too, or at least have a damn good showing against Oregon or Ryan days and to be out of there. It's a lot of pressure around that program right now. Yeah. Yeah. I agree. But yeah, I just, I think Ohio state is a really good football team. And again, Tennessee had a great season and this is already a success for them. Ohio state has to win this game. Like I i just, I feel like if they lose, this is going to be one of the most disappointing seasons they've ever had.
00:42:16
Speaker
Yeah, same thing with the like that that maybe I'm putting too much stock in that Big Ten Championship. Ohio State definitely kind of leveled up what I thought of them when I saw how good Penn State did against Oregon as well. you know Because that was Ohio State's big signature when it was beating Penn State, and I'd kind of discounted that a little bit, man, but it was looking pretty impressive, man. I think yeah i think they're you know they're definitely both the you know top six or seven programs in the country. so It's going to be awesome, dude. I can't freaking wait, man. It's going to be a fun weekend. Yeah. We got the night. We got the nice little appetizer on Friday and then Saturday is going to be a beautiful day of football. Is there any bowl games you want to discuss, man? I don't i'm kind of know. The bowl games are almost like I am next week. We will because Nebraska plays next Saturday and stuff. So we'll get to we'll get to review the college football playoffs. We'll talk about Nebraska. And next week is when it truly gets started. I feel like like next Monday is when you feel like, OK, it's bowl week now. It's time to roll, you know.
00:43:11
Speaker
Yeah, we got Memphis ticking off in the scooters coffee frisco. I'm gonna watch that 30 minutes yeah we got We got Western Kentucky tomorrow, so I'm definitely watching that in the book or a tone ball. It's James Madison Yeah, I'm the yeah I love this Another another life deed Memphis here and another one of the multiverses Memphis is in the playoff man They totally could have done it this year. Do they just ah You know, stumbling in a couple, a couple of big spots. did We have just, we are in for an absolute treat this week. I know this won't matter to you, but, um, Nebraska is a volleyball school now. It's been said they're in the final four again. They play Thursday night against Penn state, which is basically the two best teams. So you got that.
00:43:50
Speaker
Then Friday night you get a playoff game. Then you got two NFL games on Saturday and then you got all the college football playoffs. The other thing, the other thing I was going to say too, dude, they're playing college football playoff games on TNT. That is fucking wild. We're watching football on TNT.
00:44:06
Speaker
Where is, uh, where do you, where does one watch that college volleyball playoffs? Oh, bro. It'll be on yeah ESPN or ABC. One of the two. I mean, that really they put it. Oh yeah, dude. It's turned into a big thing. I mean, Nebraska packed out like 89,000 people at a volleyball game last year. I remember that last year. that it's It's become a big deal, man. that These, these all sell out and stuff now. Like it's, it has become a really big deal. So it'll be on something on, on Thursday night. I'm guessing yeah ESPN if I had to guess.
00:44:36
Speaker
That's cool, man. Alright, you ready to pick some ah pro games? Let's do it.
00:44:53
Speaker
All right. Let's get right into our NFL slate for week 16. We both went 12 and four last week. Another time we had, we had two games that we differed on and we, it was just a split. And then we had three games that we both picked the same team that lost. We both picked Detroit chargers and Pittsburgh and all three lost. And then, uh, you had Miami winning. I had Houston winning. And then the other one was Dallas and Carolina.
00:45:17
Speaker
I think unless we see some shenanigans this week, man, I think we're in line for a pretty a pretty ah eventful week kind of quiet finish to the NFL season, man. the The playoff teams have just really separated themselves, man. We got a little bit of action in the NFC West. And if the books stumble that the NFC South could be up for grabs, you know, but for the most part, we're kind of just looking at seeding or we're coasting now. It's just, yeah yeah, I feel like the ah NFC, especially other than like top two seeds, I feel like we're kind of locked in at this point.
00:45:46
Speaker
Yeah, so it's not, you know, I love those week 18s where you got like, you know, 15 different, uh, playoffs scenarios going on at once, man. Uh, but so yeah, it's, uh, I don't think it looks like it's, we're not going to get that, uh, that this year, but you never know. Things could change, man. It is the NFL any given Sunday, right? It's Thursday night. Going to have a damn good game, dude.
00:46:06
Speaker
Broncos who have been playing really really tough really since the first month of the season and the Broncos have been playing really really good Going to face a LA team that was looking tough, but they got straight up thumped on Sunday, man We got three days to get over it um Chargers are favored by three I wouldn't be surprised to see Broncos going there and win, man. Broncos have been playing good. I don't feel like Denver played well at all this week. Bo Nix played his worst game as a pro by far. They can thank Jonathan Taylor for completely fucking pissing that game down their leg. But yeah, I did. Why is that a thing? why Why do these players keep doing this shit where they drop the ball, dude, run out of the back of the end zone and then drop the ball? Like why is this so hard? Why are you in such a hurry?
00:46:47
Speaker
i Get like the the you know, the nonchalant is like, you know That's more like the new like the the hot things to do I mean dude I used to do it in high school when I would run in a touchdown, dude I would drop the ball like that, but I made damn sure I was about five steps into the end zone and then just drop it man Like I get it It looks cool But you know what doesn't look cool dropping it before you fucking cross the goal line and giving the ball back to the defense It lost them the game the momentum completely shifted at that point and he couldn't do anything after that What a joke of a football team, by the way, I hope supposed to be one of your And he's supposed to be, you know, your team leader, dude, one of your best players. It's not like it's some rookie running back knucklehead, dude. This is like that, dude, that you've invested a serious amount of time and money in. and and like Yeah. Just unforgivable, dude. Like, absolutely unforgivable. I mean, it literally cost him the game. Like, the the game was never close after that point. Yeah. We've seen it a handful of times across NFL and college this year. You know, Kyle Pitts almost had one against the Bucks. He did have one against the Bucks. They just didn't call it. Yeah. I know like our buddy Hawk, who's just the most diehard or diehard Colts fans, he was going on on saying he crossed the goal line. But I say, fuck that dude. If I'm Roger Goodell, I think if it's even close, you just take the touchdown away from him on GP. dude You know, for general purpose, man. I agree. So I'm going Denver as well this week. i
00:48:02
Speaker
ah Dude, I do not like the trajectory of the Chargers right now at all. They are not playing good. Just don't get the talent base, dude. I think Harbaugh needs one more draft, one more offseason, dude, to load up, man. they theyre're I think they're doing the best they can with what they got. There's just not a ton there. I mean, dude, seriously, they scored zero offensive touchdowns against the Falcons' shit defense. That was when I started to have doubts on whether or not this team was actually great. and Yeah, it's Herbert and a bunch of replacement level players, man. It's not good. But yeah, Denver.
00:48:31
Speaker
All right, Texans and Chiefs, which I think we're both thinking it's going to be Carson Wentz. I think the Chiefs still win, dude. I think the Texans are going to go. It's at KC. You know, the crowd's going to rally around him. You know, Andy Reid's already cooking up a fire ass game plan, dude. I think at least for one week, Andy Reid can make Carson Wentz look like an absolute stud, man. And I don't think this Texan team is that good at all.
00:48:55
Speaker
They survived against Miami, and I'm using the term survived because they definitely needed a survival effort. But the week before that, they survived against the the Jags, dude.
00:49:08
Speaker
And then the week before that, they lost to the Titans, man. Like, I just, this team is, they're nine and five, which is great, right? You are what your record says you are, but I think KC wins, what no matter who's at quarterback. Also, what is Houston playing for at this time, at this point? They already clinched the division. Like they're they're either the three or four seed, no matter what. They ain't getting no higher than that. So I don't know, man. Kansas City, would you probably dodging the Ravens without the fucking Mahomes magic though.
00:49:37
Speaker
God dude, do I really wanna trust Carson once in 2024? It's against the Texans, man. I'm gonna go Texans. All right. Steelers and Ravens in Baltimore. I think the Ravens get their lick back and and get the win.
00:49:50
Speaker
Yeah, that I feel like that game for Pittsburgh should be extremely concerning this last week. I don't i don't feel like that that's a good trajectory moving forward four days later off that game. like That was all kinds of bad. I mean, the the Steelers, like I said, the Eagles just got physical with the Steelers and they couldn't hold up to it. And it doesn't sound like TJ Watts probably playing this week. So that also is not good. I'm going Baltimore.
00:50:17
Speaker
I'm a little bit ticked off, man. These are two, ah you know, that maybe they end up being good games, but they're definitely intriguing games and they're both on Saturday, man. Why why is the NFL? They have to put it on Saturday, dude. They're playing Wednesday. All four of these teams play on Christmas Day.
00:50:33
Speaker
Yeah, I get it. I mean, screw it to put them in the day after Christmas and who cares about watching football on Christmas Day? Then I fell so infatuated with Christmas football at this point. It ain't ever just can't let the and NBA have Christmas, huh? No, we're taking that. They just destroy him, dude.
00:50:49
Speaker
I've always thought of Christmas is like the NBA day. Like yeah it's just nice to have something. You got a quadruple header of like the, all the biggest star studded teams. yeah A lot of times you end up getting like a finals rematch. Like, yeah, it was always something. And it's always something nice to have on in the background. Like I don't feel like I have to watch every minute of a, of an NBA game. You don't got to lock in. I got to fucking lock in in the afternoon for God to NFL games that are fucking for all intents and purposes, playoff games. Like dude, I got to completely lock in on Christmas day. My wife's going to remember last year we had the Ravens and Niners Dave and they were the two best teams in the league. That was at least a night. There was only one game at least. Like this is going to be a problem. Like this game starts at noon. ah I'm not going to be locked in on Christmas at all.
00:51:33
Speaker
Yeah. All right. So yeah, Texas, it's two good games on Saturday. So yeah, I'm interested to see what the, I wonder what the TV ratings are going to look like this compared to the college football playoff. I mean, I think it's just, it's going to be a great day. The college football playoff has got to blow the NFL ratings out of the water. Like so many people are so excited for this. You would think, man, but dude, the NFL is such a juggernaut, dude. It's king, dude. It is the king. Yeah. All right. Let's go to Sunday. Rams and Jets.
00:52:01
Speaker
Ram should roll. I mean, it's a dangerous game dude going cross-country and you know, the Jets still got Aaron Rodgers, dude They're still they they seem squirrely man Like they got a little bit of juice to him when you watch him play But I still I gotta think the Rams handle their business man If you got any kind of faith and messed after and Shawn McVay You got to believe they can go on the road and beat a 4-10 Jets team But I don't this is definitely not a lock I'm not gonna lie. I think the Rams win out, dude. I this team is good like good. They're really good. They're really rounding into four they've gotten healthy to Yeah, they won an ugly game against the Niners, which is usually the game that they lose. Do they close with at the Jets, Arizona and then at home at home against Arizona and then at home against Seattle. I seriously feel like this team wins out.
00:52:43
Speaker
Yeah, they're a really really good team and you got Matt Stafford who you know dipped into the freaking fountain of youth this offseason He's looking awesome. You got cup Nakua Robertson a wide receiver dude current Williams to man. He's a damn good running back dude He does not get nearly the press of the Saquons Derek Henry's Christian McCaffrey of the world, but he is good man He's fast. He's tough like he's great in the past game. Like he's a really good Dude, you just mentioned all that. And the thing that I want to point out is how good their defense has played this year with a bunch of young guys. And let's not forget, we all thought this team was about to be written off defensively because Aaron Donald retired. Like they didn't write back. This defense is good, man.
00:53:21
Speaker
All right, hit us with the Gino quote, man. I like it, dude. 12 2 Eagles heading down to DC, heading down the down the road to play the Commanders. I think the Eagles roll indeed. The Commanders had a ah great season. I've loved seeing what Dan Quinn's done. And Jane Daniels, he may end up being the future of this league. But I don't i think they're a little bit of an overachiever also, man. I think the Eagles go down there and bully them. Dude, Philadelphia is a machine like that. I mean, they were two and two at one point. Now they're 12 and two. Like this team is an absolute machine. I'm going to three and a half point favorites on the road against the nine and five command. This is a good team and Eagles are really good.
00:53:56
Speaker
All right, dude, Falcons and Giants Falcons got to win this. yeah the falcony listen to the shit The Falcons are playing the two teams back to back weeks that are tanking for the number one pick like these two teams are clearly tanking the Raiders and the Giants are both trying to out tank the other. Yeah, I think the Falcons win. I really hope we get to see panic panics dude like I just I feel like a car right now who takes who's who starts for the Falcons cousins. This team's this organization's gutless. The yeah just did just think if they would have handled their business just a little bit better earlier this season. They win that game and they are in a playoff spot right now. All they had to do is win that Saints game and instead they blew it because cousins that he finally threw a touchdown pass. I was his first touchdown in five games last night. Like what are we doing, man? Like it's just so mismanaged.
00:54:49
Speaker
They're going to win. Seven to seven Cardinals heading to the three and 11 Panthers. I think the cards won that one pretty easy. Yeah, Arizona wins. Browns and Bengals. I'm going to Bengals, dude. Bengals are, again, quite possibly the best six and 18 of all time. Yeah, Cincinnati wins. This is going to suck for Cincinnati fans, man. They're going to win all these games. They're going to end up probably going into the last week needing to win, and they'll probably lose and end up eight and nine and out of the playoffs. like What a brutal season for them, man. Yeah, it's been rough, too. One of the best offensive seasons we've seen in recent history, I mean, it's the deepest atrocious.
00:55:25
Speaker
Yeah. Titans and Colts in Indy. Dude, Mason Rudolph gives the Titans some juice, man. but Don't do it. I still think the Colts win, man. I hate to say it. This team's somehow going to be seven and eight. yeah Actually, now I know what's going on. I'm picking the Titans, man. Hell yeah. heighttans Titans win, dude. I think Mason Rudolph's going to have a big game, dude. I think Colts win. I think Tennessee is unintentionally, intentionally tanking.
00:55:52
Speaker
All right. The Lions and Bears. I think Lions winded. Yeah. They could have a million injuries. I'm still not picking them. I mean, this is going to be their ninth straight loss. Like this team is bad. The Bears are moving. Everything we said at the beginning of the season about the Bears making progress. This is a shit team. They are not good.
00:56:11
Speaker
It's gotten very bad, dude. Caleb Williams just, you know, I do think he's still a bright spot. I think they got a quarterback. He just gets hit every down, though. But yeah, there's the the young man needs some help, dude. All right, big game in the late window. Vikings and Seahawks in Seattle.
00:56:27
Speaker
Looks like, do we know, or do we got an update on Gino? He said he's going to practice. Mike McDonald said he's going to practice and probably play on Sunday, but dude, I did not. Gino is healthy. I'd give the Seahawks a fighting chance, but I think if we got Gino at less than a one hundred percent, I think the Vikings run away with this one. Yeah, I did not. The Sunday night game gave me some real doubts about the Seahawks. That was a really bad game. Like, I mean, maybe they just flush it, but I think Minnesota is really good too. So Minnesota.
00:56:55
Speaker
All right. Bill's and Patriots in Buffalo. Buffalo is a 14 point favorite. My only concern on this one, dude, is, you know, I'm in the the fantasy league, me and Jordan, and I'm in the semi-finals in the playoffs. And I got Josh Allen at the second half. Yeah. I worry that this one's over at halftime, man. Hopefully, if that's the case, you know, it's not James Cook racking up the touchdowns and we get, you know, three, three or four first half touchdowns from Josh Allen. Um, does your dad have James Cook?
00:57:22
Speaker
Uh, I think so. Yeah. god This has disaster potential game for you. Uh, let me check. Maybe he doesn't know. He doesn't got James. cook does Good. Because I was going to say this game has somebody in the playoffs still has him. This has disaster potential for you. Yeah. You're so stressed out every time they get the 10 every time they're in inside the 10 yard line. da It's either going to be freaking, you know, great or or horrible. Um,
00:57:47
Speaker
But yeah, I definitely, one is, you know, does this even play the second half? And two, if you're the Bills, do you know you got this team outgunned on all fronts? Maybe you ramp down the game plan a little bit. You know, Josh Allen has gone absolutely electric. Two straight weeks. Maybe say, hey, you know what? We're going on the run game. Give give the big guy a little, you know, take the, ease the load off him a little bit yeah this week. Maybe not have Josh Allen taking hits in a game where you know you're going to win. Like, ah let's relax a little here.
00:58:15
Speaker
Yeah, so we'll see, man. I think the bill is definitely wrong. I don't know if they cover that 14 though, man, just because I don't know if they're going to go that hard. There's a total chance for for the Patriots to have the back door covered this week. Yeah, I agree. All right. Toilet bowl of the week, man. Jaguars and Raiders in Vegas. I think the Jags win, man.
00:58:32
Speaker
Dude, they've Jones. Yeah, he's celebrating, man. Yeah, making some runs. he looks like He's just out there having fun, bro. He's playing like completely unburdened by any sort of pressure. um Yeah, I think the Jags going to win this one. There's there's absolutely nothing to latch onto if you're a Raiders fan. Oh my god, bro. I forgot to tell you this interaction I had with someone in line getting a drink. This dude in front of us. like He's just started talking to me. He's like, the the Raiders are like building this puzzle and they're only a couple puzzle pieces away. And he's like, explaining all this stuff to me. And I'm like, have you watched this team play one game this year? They don't have a quarterback. They don't have a running back. Their offensive line is leaky. They don't have a number one receiver. They've got Brock Bowers and on ah offense. And he was like, Oh, what about Jacoby Myers? I'm like, isn't he like 30 years old? Like, bro, what are we doing here? What about Jacoby? My offense is miserable. I just watched it in person last night. They're horrible. Now granted. Yeah. Some of that is Desmond Ritter. How the fuck does that guy still have an NFL job? He is the worst quarterback in the NFL. Like he must just be a great dude in the locker room. So bad.
00:59:38
Speaker
Yeah, the as somebody that's a fan of she'd ordered I pray he doesn't get drafted by the Raiders. I hope something

Tom Brady's Ownership Speculations

00:59:45
Speaker
happens. And it just what are you talking about? He's 100% getting drafted there. Brady's part owner. That's his like, that's his boy. Like, yeah, yeah, that's his role as heroes. I mean, he's either I feel like it's definitely going to fail. Which situation do you feel better about him going to the Giants or the Raiders at this point?
01:00:02
Speaker
I mean, I've seen the Giants be a functional, successful team in the last 20 years, dude, where the Raiders have been good since. Oh, really? to did Did you see what they did with Saquon Barkley over the last five years? because Yeah, i'm not I'm not saying the recent history is bad, but there's still, if you look at the last 15 years, there's more to latch onto with the Giants. then then there is the Raiders. i Dude, I feel like the Raiders are going to make a splash this off season. Like they have to start going for something with Brady as part owner. He's going to just like demand like i mean they've been doing it, dude. They traded for Devontae Adams two off seasons ago, yeah but
01:00:36
Speaker
Again, that was with Derek Carr, which I do not, I'll never understand why these teams commit so much money to Derek Carr. The dude is just not good, but whatever. It's either. and I feel like you've got one of the greatest football players ever, and he is going to be hands on. They said, and he's going to be involved in like the drafting decisions and free agent decisions. I feel like they're going to do some of this off season. Shador is definitely going there. Like there's, that is where Dion's going to want him to play and Dion is going to decide where Shador plays.
01:01:03
Speaker
be honest I really like it's gonna end in disaster on field and hey marketing and stuff. Yeah, I'm sure to be great man But I feel like I don't think he's gonna be successful if he goes there. I think she doors a good quarterback I don't think he's uh, I don't think he's a Caleb Williams where you can throw him in with the absolute garbage situation He could still look functional. I think he's gonna look really really bad if he's on a bad team I think he needs I think he needs a little bit of a support system The problem is is there's no good teams that are gonna be able to draft him like look at the teams are in the top 10 Where the fuck is he gonna go where he's gonna be successful like? Nashville just stop stop it. Just stop it sure door with it sure door with that freakin Tennessee you blue Deon is literally gonna say absolutely not He I could totally see dion on broadway deion loe's rock in the cowboy has du dion's a country boy man like i could totally see the Sanders clan just kill any thoughts of sure going he's going to Vegas like this And this is like, there's a reason Brady became part owner. It's, it's written in the stars at this point. and All right. We got the disappointment bowl, the Niners at the dolphins. I think the dolphins win, man. I think the dolphins get the win here. Niners are just really banged up. They got players quitting on them. Um, I think the dolphins take care of it, but yeah, what a, this is the, you know, what could have been bowl, man. Both these teams had sky high expectations and for good reason coming into the season. And it is just not worked out in 2024.
01:02:26
Speaker
I'm going Niners. I think Trent Williams plays this week and he's just like the key cog in that offense for some reason. Like when he plays they win and I think he does play this week. Should be a pretty good game. Pretty evenly matched teams this year. It should be should be an interesting game. But but yeah, i think I think Dolphins handle their business at home.
01:02:43
Speaker
Bucks and Cowboys, man. That's the Sunday night game. Good lord. Yeah. Dude, I think you're selling ah the Falcons chances a little short, dude. All they got to do is beat the Giants and have the Bucks drop one in Dallas. And all of a sudden, the the Falcons are back in their driver's seat for that playoff spot, dude. like the Cooper Rush looked pretty damn good on Sunday, man. He was dealing. Had some really nice passes to CD Lamb.
01:03:05
Speaker
I don't think this is a gimme for the Bucks, man. The Bucks are a team that they're weak to weak, man. they're As good as they look one week, they could totally lay an egg the next week. you know They have been looking pretty solid um here the last month or so, but I picked them them to win this. But I don't think it's a given that that the the Cowboys drop ah you know hand to hand them the W. I mean, I i thought Baker was due a dud ah game eventually. I just thought it was going to come against a good defense like the Chargers. I mean, it's not impossible that it happens this week. but I'm going to applelaber Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay, four point favorites on the road, man. Let you know what Vegas thinks of the Cowboys at this point. Jesus.

Betting Strategies & Outcomes

01:03:40
Speaker
And lastly, Monday night, we got the Saints heading up to Lambeau to play the Packers, dude. Packers, 13.5 point favorites. I think this is going to be a showcase game, man. I think the Packers are really going to, if anybody hasn't been paying attention to them, they're going to get put on notice Monday night. I think we see a big game from, uh, from Green Bay. Yeah, I agree. I'm going to green Bay as well. All right. Let's get $2 million bet.
01:04:18
Speaker
with three weeks ago in the regular season reminder the million dollar bets competition is going through the playoffs So I'm not giving you know, I'm not handing over the crown yet, man ah Jordan does got a commanding lead. He put together both his bets hit last week to go grab $450,000. He's at two ah Two million seven hundred eighty eight thousand right now. I split um so I only went up about I only went up, sorry, I'm doing some quick math here in my head. So I went up 121,000 last week. So I'm at 2.3 million. So Jordan's got close to a half million dollar week on me, heading into the last three weeks of the regular season. Jordan, what's your first bet this week? Bro, why were we not putting actual money on these bets all season? That's actually pretty good. We have been up.
01:05:06
Speaker
Yeah, we have been crushing it, dude. You're right, man. Looking back, I got a lot of W's, dude. Jordan's got less green, but the green he has, he's been hitting the big ones, dude. But yeah, we're both up for the season. you're You're right, dude. That is pretty damn impressive, man, for the year. because we And as the season's gone on, we've been getting more and more exotic with our bets, too. First bet I got this week, I'm going Bengals' money line, Eagles' money line, and Rams' money line. I am putting $100,000 on that for a $309,629 payout.
01:05:35
Speaker
Alright, I'm going big money on my first bet, dude. I got high confidence in these. I'm trying to get it all back in one bet. get Even up with Jordan, heading down the stretch. I got Buffalo, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Moneyline. I'm putting 300,000, dude. If one of these three legs falls apart, I'm going to be in deep shit. But I'm betting 300,000 to win 512,000.

Falcons' Season Review & QB Changes

01:05:55
Speaker
We'll see how it goes. Yeah, I wonder how this will go. You're putting faith in the Falcons. yeah I know, man. that's I'm a glutton for it, even after all these years. yeah Just keep coming back. My second bet, I'm going Bill's Moneyline, Niner's Moneyline, and then the over 48 in the Lions Bears game. I'm going to put 100,000 on that for a total of $422,9.
01:06:16
Speaker
And then my last one we won't have that the numbers until later on, because Jordan's gonna have to punch in the the touchdown odds once those are once those lines are set later this week but I told y'all, I'm going to Titans who go up there and stun the Colts, give me Mason Rudolph plus two touchdowns plus keep the Titans love going Derek Henry anytime touchdown I'm putting 50,000 on that parlay. All right, sounds good.
01:06:37
Speaker
All right, we got one question this week from our our biggest fan, James Maudsley. this Jordan, this question is specifically for you. He says, how does it seem that the Falcons give it away at the end of every year and allow the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to become back to back to back to back NFC South champs?
01:06:53
Speaker
end of the year, they gave it up in like a three week span in the middle of a season this year. Like, dude, I, I had been telling Seth since they were six and three, this team was not good. And everybody's like, Oh, you're just too negative. No, this team's bad. I just, nobody wanted to see it. Their biggest weakness going into last season, the season before was quarterback.
01:07:14
Speaker
He fooled us for five weeks. He went back to old Kirk cousins. I just, and well, he didn't even go back to old Kirk cousins. He's just old at this point. Like he just has nothing left. So.
01:07:25
Speaker
Yeah, not, not good, man. Another, uh, another in a long line of disappointment for the, uh, the dirty birds and their, their faithful fans. Yeah. That's a wrap for this episode of the goal line. Want to remind you guys, check out that, uh, the Christmas movie podcast going to be on our pod warriors line right here on this feed later on this week. So it'll be a lot of fun. Uh, Jordan, hit us with some closing thoughts and we'll get out of here, man. The next time you guys hear us, it'll be Christmas Eve when you hear us. Um, I hope you guys is counting down to Christmas is going smooth and we'll talk to you guys next week.
01:08:10
Speaker
we got some breaking news. The Falcons just announced that Michael Penix is the starting quarterback for the rest of the season. Wow. All right, so what do you think, man? is Does that improve or or cancel out their playoff hopes?
01:08:23
Speaker
Well, I mean, Tampa still has to lose. So I mean, until they lose, I'm not going to get any excitement, but this is an exciting decision. So now I get to watch him for three games, which I mean, at least you know what you got moving forward. We just said the same thing about the Titans. Like just see what you got moving forward. And I mean, yeah, I'm excited for this. All right. One more question is Kirk cousins on the Falcons roster opening day 2025. Yes.

Closing & Christmas Podcast Teaser

01:08:48
Speaker
All right, that's it folks. Again, check out the Christmas podcast. That's the first closing out the show with some breaking news. We will talk to you guys next week.
