Sacred Hands | When The Treatment Room Becomes Holy image

Sacred Hands | When The Treatment Room Becomes Holy

S3 E8 · The Beyond Esthetics Podcast

0 Playsin 2 days

In this deeply personal and expansive conversation, we sit down with Bria of Sacred Beauty to explore what happens when esthetics becomes more than a profession and begins to feel like a calling.

Bria approaches her work as both an esthetician and a minister through her hands, openly sharing her love for and trust in God as the guiding force behind her practice. We explore what it means to be Spirit-led in business, how faith shapes the way she serves her clients, and why she believes the treatment room can become a sacred space for healing far beyond the skin.

Together we discuss the meaning of holistic esthetics, the energetic responsibility practitioners carry, and how estheticians can begin “detoxing the treatment room” clearing not only products and protocols, but also the intentions, energy, and environment that shape every client experience.

This conversation also dives into the courage it takes to show up authentically in an industry that doesn’t always make space for spirituality, and how Bria’s unwavering faith has shaped her voice, her business, and her mission.

If you’ve ever felt that your work is about more than results… If you believe the treatment room holds space for something deeper… And if you’re curious what it means to practice as a truly holistic esthetician…

this episode will meet you there.

This is Beyond Esthetics. Let’s rise together.

Finding Contentment in Life

00:02:31
Speaker
Bria, welcome to the Beyond Aesthetics.
00:02:35
Speaker
Thank you for having me. I'm so excited. It is a pleasure. We are so so excited you're here, Bria. So, and we're so excited to get started on this deeply already very spiritual conversation I know we're about to have. ah In this deeply personal and expansive conversation, we sit down with Bria Alston of Sacred Beauty to explore what happens when aesthetics becomes more than a profession and starts to feel like a calling. We discuss divine guidance in business, energetic responsibility in the treatment room, healing through the skin, and the courage it takes to show up authentically in an industry that doesn't always make space for faith or spirituality. What does it mean to be spirit led instead ego led in your work? How do you hold space without depleting yourself?
00:03:23
Speaker
Can technique and soul truly co-exist? If you've ever felt that your hands carry something sacred, this episode will meet you there and um Okay, so Bria, we love to start with some fun, rapid fire questions for you. So what's one word that describes your current season in life or business, whatever you feel called to share about your current season?
00:03:52
Speaker
I'm content. That is ah something that I feel like I have strived for contentment for so long and then it just showed up. And, you know, it's just like I felt like I've always felt like I was working towards something and I feel like now I'm able to just enjoy each day fully and then just know that whatever is meant to be will be.
00:04:16
Speaker
so I just I feel content. I love that. Content also, i think when you said that, I think of presence. Yeah.
00:04:28
Speaker
You know, that's, i remember several years back, the Lord told me, Bria, stop and smell the roses. And I'm like, what And he was just, you know, telling me be present in each day. Each day is an opportunity to literally live to the fullest, you know, like be show up, serve people, you know, whatever that is. But if you're constantly worrying about what's next, you're not enjoying what's happening right now. And so that has changed a lot for me. And it's really just brought about this contentment, you know, so.

Holistic Skincare Preferences

00:05:02
Speaker
That's beautiful. Peace. Peace. Yeah. Bria, what is your current favorite skincare product?
00:05:12
Speaker
Yeah, so like to say the Mr. Lulu Soothing Skin Oil. I like i love oils, first of all. And you know with holistic skincare and there are just being so many oils and so many blends out there, um not all of those make sense.
00:05:34
Speaker
as far as what the skin wants. And when I find an oil that just really stands out, i mean, it's like, it becomes one of my favorite products. And this one is like a blend of algal oil and calendula oil and the skin loves it. It's anti-inflammatory. So it's great post-treatment. So it's just, it's gold. I love it.
00:05:52
Speaker
That's awesome. I will put a link in the show notes. I think where people can, or you can let me know if, you know, where I can find information to link that for people.
00:06:02
Speaker
i Absolutely. What is a song that lifts your frequency?
00:06:11
Speaker
um So lately I've been listening to What i got by a by SEU Worship. And um I just, I love it. I just, in November I was in the hospital and um my sister, she played it you know, i was actually um intubated. And so, and I was in a, they put me in a paralyzed state And um I, you know, don't remember anything, but she played that song on her phone, you know, in

Music and Spiritual Healing

00:06:41
Speaker
the room. And it was like, when I woke up, I just kept hearing it. And then here lately, I've just been listening to it just as a reminder, you know, it's going to make me cry. Just as a reminder of just how good God is.
00:06:55
Speaker
I love to hear that. I can't wait to find that and listen to it. Okay. going have you finish this sentence. Okay. Beauty is because so beauty is sacred because Well, you know, sacred meaning devoted to God. um i just find that like everything, you know, in my life has become sacred because everything has really become devoted to God.
00:07:24
Speaker
And um for beauty specifically, you know, i feel like it completely redefines it when you surrender it to God and he's able to kind of fill you up.
00:07:38
Speaker
And, you know, when you are filled up with the Holy spirit, you just kind of have this glow of, like, have you ever met anybody who is just walking in purpose and walking in alignment and literally just light shines through them and you can feel it without them saying a word, you know? And I just think that that's, you know, that, that's, what's beautiful. That's what intrigues me. That's what, you know, I want people to see in me. And, and so,
00:08:03
Speaker
that's kind of, you know, i feel like I get, you know, and then beauty being holistic, you know, ah just taking care of the body, the mind, the spirit, the skin, just, it all flows from there, you know?
00:08:15
Speaker
Yes. Well, you do convey that beautifully you that beautifully. like, you know, we were chatting before we started the episode and, um,
00:08:27
Speaker
It only took one post for me to know how special you were. You know, you really do have that beautiful light within you and your message is just so beautiful. And you, you carry it with so much grace and also power. It's a really beautiful mix of the two. So you, you're doing it, girl. i think You got it. You're doing it. Okay. Now finish this sentence. My hands are holy because.
00:08:58
Speaker
because they're his, they're, I'm a vessel, you know, of the Holy spirit. And he is, he works through me, um, in ways that i never even knew were possible. Um, you know, so it's, it's, it has become extremely evident to me how much power he can, he can use through your hands, you know, when you just surrender it to him. And so, um, yeah, that's what makes him holy. Him. Hmm.
00:09:26
Speaker
I knew your answer would give me chills and that just did not, did not disappoint. Thank you so much for sharing that. It's such beautiful messages

From Nursing to Aesthetician

00:09:35
Speaker
already. We know this is going to be one of the most special episodes, not just for our community, but i mean, already just speaking with you, I think this will be one of the most powerful episodes i've personally ever experienced. And because Tiffany is my soulmate, I know that she, she agrees. We're also going to be so touched by you.
00:09:57
Speaker
Well, I appreciate that. I really do. I think i I've always had a hard time, you know, receiving compliments and and things, you know, but I have been working, you know, to recognize, you know, because God shows up so much and it's like, literally, even with my content, you know, he's in there creating with me. And so it's just, you know, but you you are, you know, you you make yourself a vessel, you make yourself willing. And so I appreciate it.
00:10:26
Speaker
You're very welcome.
00:10:29
Speaker
Well, that leads me to our next topic of kind of going from aesthetician to calling. So Bria, when did aesthetics first enter your life? Kind of take us back and share your story there.
00:10:41
Speaker
So I started out right out of high school. I went to nursing school while I was in high school. I was a nurse's aide and I thought that's what I wanted to do. So i went to the it was the technical program, the licensed practical nursing, you can go for a year, you know, it's really straightforward. um And i became a

Aesthetics as a Calling

00:11:01
Speaker
nurse. and did really well in school. And then when I started working, I was like, I hate this. i do not want to do this. i have made a terrible mistake. And um what's so crazy is that...
00:11:13
Speaker
why I've decided to become a nurse was because I enjoy being a nurse's aide. And most people are like, who would want to do that? But when and I was a nurse's aide, I got to like have my little ladies and I would take them to, the you know, help them with their showers and their lotions and their hair and their clothes. And then when you become a nurse, you're just like handing pills and stuff. You don't have time for that fun stuff.
00:11:34
Speaker
And then um I was like, okay, I got to get out of this. i don't want to do this. And um i had two yeah little girls And um I wanted to be at home with them. my husband graduated um college. We got married young.
00:11:50
Speaker
He started working, gave me a little bit more freedom. And so I got a job as a makeup artist at a little spa in town. And there was an esthetician there. And growing up in a small town in Tennessee, I did not know that you could do that for a living. And so when I saw her doing that, I'm like, I'm going to do that. And when we moved to Texas, I got the opportunity. My girls went, you know, they started, both were in school. I went back, got the aesthetics, thought I was going to medical aesthetics, you know, join the two, but God was like, no, I got a different plan.
00:12:27
Speaker
Oh my goodness. Yeah. that's all And you know what? It like so many estheticians kind of venture into nursing school or have the idea that they want to be a nurse. I wanted to go to nursing school.
00:12:39
Speaker
as well. So I can relate to that. And I do think there's that aspect of just helping and nurturing people, patients, clients. And so I do relate to

Divine Guidance in Healing

00:12:50
Speaker
that as well. yeah um When did, okay, so you went to school, you guys moved to Texas and you started working, but when did aesthetics become something deeper for you or has it always been deep?
00:13:06
Speaker
No, i you know, I went to school with the intention of, you know, at the time it was everybody was wanting to and do the injections, all of that. Right. So I thought that that was where I was headed. And while I was in school, I developed asthma and um some autoimmune conditions. And I really started to seek out more holistic healing where actually God just aligned it in my life and my path. And i um started to learn, you know, because in nursing, it was all about care once you're already sick. You know, there wasn't a lot of prevention or wellness. And so that was just not how my mind was framed at the time. And that was not, you know, growing up, um the focus was, you know, not eating well and all of that. And um so as I began to learn, I began to kind of pivot in the direction that I was headed with aesthetics. And um once I got into the treatment room and started you know learning, if really, you know, at first the Lord was like, okay, we're not using any products. I want you to forget everything.
00:14:15
Speaker
and I want you to just let me teach you. And so at first, you know, I had like apple cider vinegar and I've literally pureed strawberries, made masks. You know, I'm trying to learn the skin as an organ. And over time, i kind of worked my way into a product line, but it was kind of just like assessing all the things right before just using, you know, active ingredients to kind of treat symptoms.
00:14:44
Speaker
um After I established that, Then he brought in like the, I feel like the real heart behind the mission. I feel like that's when he was like, okay, now that we've established this, this is what it's really about.

Overcoming Trauma through Faith

00:15:00
Speaker
It's about bringing in peace, the number one pillar of health. It's about an opportunity to serve, to lay hands and pray. And then it became, everything just made sense.
00:15:11
Speaker
You know, I did not know the direction I was heading in until he was like, okay, this is what it's going to look like. And all of it came together. And then I'm like, wow, I cannot believe you just did this. And you did it through me. You did it with me, you know, like, so yeah, it was, I didn't know as what he was going to do.
00:15:31
Speaker
Were you working on your own as a solo institution? Were you working for somebody else? Well, I was working on my own. I started out. you know, kind of a chain and I just didn't really fit there. And so um I, started out of my home and I built up some clients and then i was offered another opportunity. i actually worked in a counseling office, which was so fitting because God was really like, you know, well also you're an esthetician, right? Like people come for skincare, but then they develop that relationship where they're, you know, talking to you about everything and you, you know, we care about our clients. We remember that they went on their first day or whatever, you know, we're asking and we can't wait for they come back, you know? So,
00:16:15
Speaker
It was just, um, I'm sorry. I lost my whole train. Well, you yes we start working at a counselor's office. So that definitely like supported. Yes. roll Right.
00:16:28
Speaker
And so, um, it just made sense for me to be there. And, and, you know, I was, you know, she was kind of feeding clients in and, um, so, you know, it just, you know, kind of grew that way organically. Okay.
00:16:44
Speaker
So you, you did immediately go solo though. it sounds like. Oh yes. I'm sorry. Yes. That was the question. Yes. i immediately went solo and you think that was kind of, you know, it it was, I didn't know what I was doing. I didn't know, you know, which direction it was going to go in. I just was like, all right, God, how do we want to do this? And I just started listening and yeah. Yeah.
00:17:08
Speaker
You seem so, so so faithful. and we would love to know, like, was there ever a point where you resisted this path or questioned this calling? Or have you always been so like faith based and been able to surrender to the process and just be like, okay.
00:17:27
Speaker
Well, you know, before aesthetic school, after, you know, my childhood was extremely traumatic. um You know, every form of abuse, such sexual, physical, emotional, um had a lot of trauma to heal from. And so, you know, i got married young, had kids young. And then in my mid-20s, just kind of had a breakdown. And going to shut the door open.
00:17:52
Speaker
Sorry. i I heard some noise outside, so I needed to shut the door. um So i had a little a little bit of a breakdown and um ended up and a going to a mental hospital because I didn't want to live anymore.

Holistic Skincare Philosophy

00:18:04
Speaker
And when I was there, it was like I came to the end of myself. I grew up and with my faith. you know I never doubted that God was real. I even remember as a child, like hearing his voice, but it was like, I got so burdened from all the trauma and the things that had not been healed that I could not hear from him.
00:18:23
Speaker
And I had just was covered in shame, covered in self-hate. And i yeah, I was just, I was fair, fearful of what it was going to do, how it was going to impact my kids, because that was what had brought it about for me it was my parents' decisions. Right. And so I, like I said, I came to the end of myself. And so when I stepped in out of that place from that point forward, I was like, whatever you want, God, because I tried it my way and it did not work. It almost killed me. And so whatever you want. and from that moment forward was when every part of my life started to change. And, you know, he brought me into this. And again, like, so i had already learned how to be obedient.
00:19:09
Speaker
I'd already learned how to hear his voice. i you know, so when we got to this, you know, it was just like kind of just waiting for what he wanted to show me, how he wanted to do it. Wow.
00:19:22
Speaker
Thank you for sharing that. That's very powerful to hear. And, um, man, what, thank you. how has your understanding of beauty evolved?
00:19:37
Speaker
Well, you know, i think in aesthetic school, we put so much focus on this the skin, the anatomy of the skin, the physiology of the skin, the the products and how they interact with the skin and skin conditions.
00:19:53
Speaker
And What I've learned is that the skin is, is like a, is an organ that will tell you what's going on. It really, really will show, you know, stress and anxiety. It shows gut issues. It shows hormonal imbalance. It shows dehydration. And so when you really start to think of the body as a whole, and it really just shifts you know, the whole perspective. And once you start to learn to take care of yourself, body, mind, spirit, start to treat yourself like the the important worthy vessel that you are, it just starts to radiate through. It's like everything flows from that. You're not chasing anything more. It just flows, right? And, you know, one of the things I love about practicing this way is I have clients who come in because they're dealing with skin issues. And then we start to talk about how emotions impact to your skin, how diet impacts your skin. And all a sudden, you know, you see all aspects of their life starting to shift, not there's just their skin.
00:21:02
Speaker
um And so it's just really shown me that, you know, this, this can be a ministry that is holistic, that is healing, that is sacred. And um yeah, it it surprised me, but you know, that to find out that it could encompass all of this. But I mean, now I'm just like, Oh, thank God I get to do this. And my husband has to go to an office, you know, like it's true, right? exactly Oh my goodness.
00:21:35
Speaker
It's true, though. it It really is all connected. And there's so many layers to it. And it's not just like physical layers. It's emotional. It's spiritual. It's all the things. I do have a question, though. Like, how do you how do you support your clients through that process as an esthetician?
00:21:54
Speaker
And do you feel like? Do you ever hesitate or do you ever feel like there's a scope out out of scope practice there? Only because, and I'm only asking this because I know we're going to have estheticians out there that are listening to this because Jess and I have had conversations with other estheticians wanting to venture into maybe like the nutrition side of things or maybe into the emotional healing of things and feeling like it is out of their scope.

Spirituality in Professional Practice

00:22:21
Speaker
How do you navigate that?
00:22:23
Speaker
Well, yeah, I mean, I definitely think, you know, so for me, i have that kind of background in nursing and a holistic practitioner. um So I can, you know, make a ah ah suggestion of taking an omega fatty acid in full confidence, right? But some, not every esthetician feels confident doing that. um And that's okay. I think it's, you know, you shouldn't ever feel like you have to take care of every part of the whole. That's God's position. And that's where we'll get into a place where we don't need to be. Right. But being able to have a ah network that I can lean on, you know, maybe even if it's virtual, even if you know, virtual providers, I even, you know, when I'm on Instagram, like seeing other aligned, um,
00:23:10
Speaker
content creators that are maybe coaching in the realm of hormones or, you know, having people that you can refer to. And I do that all the time because, you know, like when you work in holistic, there's so many parts of the whole that need to be touched and you can really overwhelm yourself, you know, trying to get those results. So, you know, if I have someone come in that is experiencing, hormonal acne and, you know, I'm working toward, you know, kind of enlightening them to the fact that all of these things matter, our lifestyle, our sleep patterns, our nutrition, diet, exercise, um kind of open the door planting the seeds and then, you know, having those referrals ready in case They're wanting to be referred to someone else to look at those deeper issues, right? Now, if you want to develop a practice that is more like where you can provide those other services, then you can look into certifications, things that make you feel, you know, more confident in coaching and educating your clients in those ways. um
00:24:19
Speaker
But as far as spirituality, you know, i feel like with, I never want to give people parts of me. I want to give them God. And when he works through you, it's truly him working through you. It's not your wisdom or revelation. It's from him. And it's, you know, cause he's even sometimes like, he'll speak to people through me and I'm like, wo let me write that down. That was good. You know, like, because it's coming from him
00:24:52
Speaker
And so when, you know, when I'm encouraging practitioners that are wanting to, you know, pray over people, you know, just let him flow. You know, you don't have to be an expert in that. Your words don't have to be elegant and, you know, just be an obedient. And you will stumble in your words sometimes or, you know, sometimes he'll show me something that doesn't make complete sense in the moment. But then as I pray about it, revelation is given. um So, you know, I always tell people,
00:25:22
Speaker
start where you're at. You know, you don't need to be like anybody else. You just need to be you. And if God leads you into something else to add, that's great. But you don't, i mean, you don't have to do anything but aesthetics and be great at that, you know, and then build a referral. So, you know, it's what you, what you want to make of it. Oh my gosh. It's so true. I have a question before we move on. How do you practice discernment between what is you and what is God?
00:25:49
Speaker
Yeah, I've actually and been trying to record a TikTok on this very topic. It's probably hard. Because it is so important. Yeah. Yeah, you know, well, because recently the Lord revealed an open door that the enemy had been using to affect my health through obsessive worrying.
00:26:08
Speaker
So i you know, when clients come in seeking healing and you're a holistic practitioner, holistic esthetician, and your role is to, you know, facilitate that.
00:26:19
Speaker
but then not step into God's role.

Trusting Divine Guidance

00:26:22
Speaker
God's role is, you know, worrying. God's role is if the needs are met, the seeds are water that were scattered are watered. You know, he he takes care of all that. So, you know, being careful to facilitate this role being,
00:26:38
Speaker
helping someone heal through scattering the seeds, but not overstepping and trying to worry and perform and strive, but just abide, you know, and just, you know, recognize too that people,
00:26:52
Speaker
They're, you know, they're not if they can be intentional about meeting this goal, but they're going to probably slip up, make mistakes, things like that. Like, don't put this pressure on yourself to heal somebody. Allow God to heal them in the timing. Because, you know, even so my own healing, like I have been walking it out. And there are things like we always expect God to just show up and like heal people.
00:27:17
Speaker
you know, in a supernatural way. Right. But sometimes it's just walking out obedience and allowing God to reveal where the enemy has been stealing from you when your health and your finances, whatever that looks like. Right. And so that's our role is just to, you know,
00:27:35
Speaker
help scatter the seeds, share the revelation, share the wisdom, and then let God take care of his child, you know, because I can't even take care of myself without him. So I, you know, like I can't take on responsibility for anybody else.
00:27:52
Speaker
ah That's true. That is true. And that's a really good reminder. Yeah. You know, I think with the discernment question too, peace, you know, you know, it's God, you know, it's you know, soul when there's a sense of peace.
00:28:09
Speaker
And I think that if there's any ah worry, if there's any performing, if there's any, you know, stress that's coming with the message that you're receiving, or you're like questioning it, then that's probably, you know, not God speaking through you. And i think that discernment, i you you just know because of the the energy of peace that you feel. And I mean,
00:28:35
Speaker
That's kind of what I'm gathering from what you're saying, of course, but I think that's how I feel too. When I'm at peace, then I know that this is God. Right. Yeah. He, he, he does the heavy lifting, you know, like for so long, I put so much pressure on myself to do the heavy lifting, to you know, pave the way. But if you're walking in alignment with God, he he told me one time, and he said, i will always go before you.
00:29:02
Speaker
And at the time, I didn't really understand the fullness of what that meant. But what he meant was I prepare the way I've prepared the person to come and receive what I'm going to pour out through you.
00:29:12
Speaker
So he's doing all the heavy lifting. I just show up. You know, my role, it's like you think of Mary and Martha, you know, and Mary, she's she's she's running around trying to serve, make the dinner great. And then ah Mary is positioned at Jesus's feet. and she's like, get up, girl, and help me. And he's like, no, she's right where she should be. She's positioned herself to just allow that flow to come through her, you know, and and not have to just be busy, you know? And that's, that's, that's the whole picture.
00:29:44
Speaker
It's just, you know, showing up and letting God work through us, so you know, through his Holy Spirit. Yeah. It's such a good reminder because it's just like, it's so much easier and more peaceful to just surrender to that process and surrender to God. And it's just like, I, right now, even just like you saying that, i'm like, oh my gosh,
00:30:07
Speaker
Why is it worried? I just, like it's like a letdown. Yeah. You can feel it literally come off of your shoulders. Where do you find so much, you know, mostly the tension that women carry. You see it a lot of men too in their shoulders, right? We're just, it affects our posture. even even having a net It's like we're we're carrying the weight of the world. Literally.
00:30:26
Speaker
When we were never meant to carry the weight of the world, only God can and only God does. And when we learn that and we live from that, who we become free. We become free. It feels free. And it's, and we,
00:30:40
Speaker
It's so valuable to be reminded of it often too, right? Because we get so caught up in I think our mind cycle, which is like our ego that takes over, but then also in like just everyday tasks and living. And then we just, at least for me, i have to be reminded constantly, right?
00:31:00
Speaker
me too. Me too. So good. you have faith source and being spirit led in business is so beautiful.
00:31:11
Speaker
You've just said so much and probably encompassed so much of, you know, this next question that I have, but how would you describe your relationship with God's source or divine guidance? I mean, if there's anything in addition to what you've said already, which you've already just spoken so beautifully and deeply about it, but would you add anything to that?
00:31:31
Speaker
Yeah, I would. I would say, you know, i grew up without a father and pretty much without a mother. um And there were a lot wounds that were created, at a lot of issues with self-worth, self-hate, fear, because we're meant to experience safety, protection, love that tells us, you know, that fills us up, you know, that wrecks us believe in ourself.
00:31:58
Speaker
And when we don't experience that, we suffer, we we're we're traumatized essentially. and through my you know, earlier years in church, i mean, even the church that I attended, like sometimes it just seems like God was up there and he was kind of scary and he was, you know, but as i have, you know, he's kind of cleared the way for me to have actual relationship

Spirit-led Business Practices

00:32:24
Speaker
with him. He is the most amazing, incredible father
00:32:29
Speaker
to his daughters and and sons too, but I have a daughter. Right. And he literally like, he cooks with me. he goes to the grocery store with me. He does facials with me He like, he cares about, you know, the things I care about.
00:32:46
Speaker
He's just so much more than I ever knew. um and so, you know, and part of the, you know, just how he's taught me to be the esthetician that I am like, and And then the mother that I am the the wife, you know, it's, yeah, he's just so much more than God, you know, like he's, he's father, he's daddy, he's, he's mom, you know, like he's, you he will literally fill all those places.
00:33:16
Speaker
Absolutely. Thank you. So how would you describe being spirit led rather than led? in business? You've, again, you've already said so much so beautifully. Would you add anything to that that you've already said?
00:33:31
Speaker
Well, you know, I think it just, it goes back to like striving versus abiding, you know, when we're, we're striving, we're making decisions because we have a plan. And when we're abiding, we are just being obedient because he has a plan. and,
00:33:48
Speaker
it looks completely different as as far as how it's presented to the world, presented to people. You know, like even with my social media page, the Lord showed me cameras in my treatment room. and when I figured out what that meant and creating this community on social media, um you know, at first it's like you go into it and you're presenting yourself. And so you're kind of obsessing over everything and overthinking everything. And then he was like, look, I own and operate the page. You just facilitated. I'm like, oh, okay, I can do that. I can do that, you know? And it takes all the pressure off, but then it also reminds me, like, this is a place to facilitate community, conversation, education, inspiration.
00:34:32
Speaker
i don't need it to be like the Bria show, you know? i just, if I happen to be there, you know, I'll be there, but I don't need it to be that. And that's the difference in striding abiding, you know? Mm-hmm.
00:34:46
Speaker
ah He owns and operates the page. I love that, which we can like contribute that to everything in our life. He owns and operates the business, math you know? Oh goodness.
00:34:58
Speaker
So much insight. Oh my God. It's so beautiful. Okay. So here's a really good one. How do you invite divine guidance into your business decisions? I imagine you pray over decisions that have to be made or you just allow him to reveal to you.
00:35:16
Speaker
as you go? Well, you know, there's a little bit of both. um There's, you know, I've got to where i kind of show up some, you know, as an entrepreneur, you know, as we all are, there's a lot that goes into that, you know, we're the esthetician, we are the marketing, all the, all the hats, right? And so,
00:35:38
Speaker
When I sit down and I kind of feel overwhelmed and I don't know, you know, I'm still kind of stuck because i have so many places that need attention. I just say, okay, God, where, what do you want me to do?
00:35:51
Speaker
Where do you want me to focus? And it takes all the all overwhelm away and feeling like I'm behind. And then it just puts me on task and i you know, finish that task. Okay. What does that look like? And there are times when I show up to that, you know, in that position and God says, I want you to rest.
00:36:08
Speaker
And I'm like, oh, okay. You know, because if, you know, again, if we're not taking care of ourself, then we can't really show up, you know? And so that has been a big, made a big difference. It has kept me from falling into traps that were set up for me, you know, like, because I have taken the time to sit and ask But then also to, you know, you're kind of in business, you're walking things out and opportunities come. And so sometimes, you know, a door will open and you, you know, i but i I used to, i would not be so intentional about praying about every opportunity, but I have really started to make that, you know, a priority because,
00:36:51
Speaker
um You know, you just, you gotta be careful, you know, about what you align with and and things. And so, you know, not, not to be like paranoid or anything, but just being a business owner, being a watchman, being a steward, you know? So yeah, I'd say it's both ah a lot of prayer.
00:37:08
Speaker
Yes. So can I just, and prayer being, you know, yeah, go ahead. go ahead I was going to say in prayer being, you know, that, that, that conversation, you know, that hearing God's voice and, and letting him leave me. Yeah.
00:37:24
Speaker
This might be coming up later, but because you just said it, I really want to talk about being a steward. time go but but go tell me what that means to you because it's,
00:37:37
Speaker
It's so important. It's so important to Tiff and I, but you're wording everything so beautifully. So please take the wheel. on So, you know, um it it kind of goes back to, you know, this, he's the owner and the operator, and then I'm the facilitator. um You know, and another thing I'd say is, well, when you think of yourself as stewarding a business,
00:38:07
Speaker
a kingdom business, do you understand that this this business is is a little part of the whole picture. And so being aligned with God's will and staying and ah you know obedient to what He's telling and how He's telling me to operate is important for what He's establishing moving forward and how it impacts the kingdom.
00:38:34
Speaker
um And so, you know, when you're stewarding, you're not doing it out of ambition or ego, right? You're doing it out of obedience. You're, you know, and your role is not, you're not looking you you know, ah reward or anything else. You're just doing it to serve. And you're you're also recognizing that your business is bigger than or just you, right? It's it's a heavens heavenly assignment and that heavenly assignments come with
00:39:10
Speaker
a different set of rules. You know, we're not just focused on what the business is is bringing in financially, but where the business is located, how the business is established, the solid foundation that it's laid on. you know, how things are running and operating in the business and then also praying and interceding over the business because it is, you know, it needs, we need that strategy in order to avoid situations where, were you know, where the enemy can throw us off task.
00:39:41
Speaker
um So it just very, a lot of and intent being intentional um and then a lot of prayer, lots of prayer.

Surrendering Business Challenges to God

00:39:51
Speaker
Do you believe that every esthetician heavenly assignment?
00:39:58
Speaker
Um, I think that if every, if you were an esthetician and you're meant to be in the treatment room, then you, that's, that's where God intends for you to serve. You know, I feel like that's our, our calling, our role in life. You know, that's the great commission go forth it and make disciples.
00:40:14
Speaker
And if God is using you in the treatment room, then he's going to equip you for that. But I do think that there are people who decide what they want to do with their life.
00:40:25
Speaker
You know, it's like me choosing to be a nurse, And, you know, that it play it. God may be different matches, right? i I got, I gained a lot there, but that wasn't necessarily what I was intended to do. And, and so i think if if that's where God wants you and that is where he's using you, there's no doubt in my mind that he will provide abundantly everything that you need for that assignment. It may not look like what you thought it would or wanted it to, but yeah he'll provide.
00:40:57
Speaker
Can we stay here for a second? but What is your advice for, we'll just stay at estheticians who question that constantly in their business. You know, they've, they've going down, gone down this path, chosen this career. They love it. They do feel a purpose in it and they question everything. I'm going to have clients. How am I going to get the clients? I don't have enough money coming in. All the money's going out. How do I pay myself? Like these are constant conversations we have with our community. And there's, I mean, what you're saying right now, and Jess and i both believe, yes. How do we like bridge that gap between them being just so in it and fully surrendering to it and just believing that that there's infinite abundance that comes with it.
00:41:48
Speaker
Well, you know, I think don't worry about where the oil is coming from. Just pour it, you know, just stay in that mindset of just pouring, you know, and then also to, if you're already in business and then you're just stepping into that mindset, you may have to, you need to surrender. You need to make a very, a point to bring everything that you're doing and set it down before God, because he may want to route do some redirection. He, if the building, if it wasn't built on his foundation, there may be,
00:42:19
Speaker
ah Areas that are left open for making your business vulnerable. Maybe, you you know, like overspending on things, you know, like for years in Dallas, I was paying, I was working to pay the rent.
00:42:34
Speaker
And what God broke there was me feeling i like I needed and wanted even a fancy building. So when we moved to Mississippi, I'm like, I want a house that can accommodate the spa because if i you know i don't want to work from burnout i want to work from abundance and so you know surrender it maybe it needs some restructuring maybe it needs some realigning but don't worry god makes beauty from ashes so if you've gotten yourself in a situation give it to him and expect that he will take care of it. It may take some time to untangle and unravel, but he will do it.
00:43:10
Speaker
He will. And he tells us when we pray, what we ask for, we believe that we've received it and we will see it, you know, and that's a praying. And of course, in God, in alignment with God, I'm not just going out here asking for a million dollars, but I'm saying, God, I need you to provide everything that I need to fulfill the mission that you have given me.
00:43:28
Speaker
And of course, you know, if he's the owner and operator, It's not up to me to pay the bills. It's up to him. i just show up and I work from that place of service and he will provide. But again, you know, if it wasn't built, that that foundation wasn't built, then just set it in front of him. He will give you instruction. He'll he'll show you. There's no hole too deep deep. I promise I've been in some deep holes. So he'll get you out. Yeah.
00:44:00
Speaker
I have so many chills, which is which is the spirit, right? And you have, i what I love about you, Bria, is you have such conviction behind your words and what you believe, which is so powerful. Like I'm hanging, I'm like, hang, I'm in the screen. I'm hanging on your every word. And I'm just like, yes, I can feel it in my soul. And it's just so powerful. Thank you.
00:44:25
Speaker
Absolutely. You know, I think that's, that's just testimony, you know, because it's like, I've lived it, you know, I've, I've lived it. And that's where this page, you know, that I have now, the, the content I create is because like, if I can share these things that God has taught me, that it's going to help somebody else, like get to that place that, you know, where they're meant to be, you know, then why wouldn't you?

Spiritual Preparation in Practice

00:44:49
Speaker
So yeah, I've, I've lived it. I've seen it, you know, and so I know he can do it. And I do like that you said there's no hole that's too deep to dig yourself out of or allow him to dig yourself out of. think that's a really valid reminder because i think i think humanness as a whole, just we get in situations where we just think, man, i don't know how going to do this. i it And yeah, I guess we don't have to do it alone. Yeah. Yeah.
00:45:18
Speaker
i want to do it alone Right. Yeah. No, God is that good. That is exactly who God is. He takes impossible situations and, and makes them abundantly possible. And, you know, it's, you could never see all the ways that he's going to do it, but he will do it. Yeah.
00:45:35
Speaker
yeah Wow.
00:45:39
Speaker
Um, okay. So here's a great question. um and I just bought your ebook. And so I know that this is such a huge part of your message. How do you prepare spiritually before seeing clients? And from there, how do you stay grounded and protected while holding that space?
00:46:01
Speaker
So, you know, one of the things God has made really clear to me is you need to take, you know, we need take care of ourselves. We need to take care of ourselves, body, mind, spirit. um You know, so I really, you have, you know, going to the gym and trying to nourish my body and, um you know, exercise and take care of myself and then spiritually stay filled up. You know, I've, sitting in the presence of the Lord, allowing him to speak to my fears, my anxieties, my doubts, my worries, so that when I show up in the treatment room, my head's not somewhere else. I'm not in a space, you know, elsewhere. i am fully present and able to just really be the vessel, you know, because like when I'm massaging,
00:46:45
Speaker
I am not, I am keeping that line of connect communication open with God so that if he wants something to be spoken or even just silently prayed, I can do that.
00:46:57
Speaker
And, you know, so again, you know, for me to be present, I need to make sure that I am living from that myself in my own life. And then As far as staying grounded in that, it kind of goes back to like just staying in that role. The Lord showed me one time, it was like this belt tied around my waist, and there's these leather bag things, like old-timey-looking belt. There was all these seeds in there, and it was like you just you're scattering seed, right? You're you're giving them revelation and information and and helping them to you know, overcome and essentially, you know, fight the battles, you know, that they're fighting. And then when they leave, we've prayed, we've handed it it to God and we're expecting and believing with them that God's going to do what he, what they need, you know, but not taking it upon myself, not, you know, again, operating from that place of performance, but of just belief that, you know, he brought you here, he started it, he'll finish it
00:48:05
Speaker
<unk> now but Do you say a prayer before like you start your, your service? a lot of times when I'm setting up the room, I have like worship music going in the background and I'm like worshiping, I'm talking the Lord, I'm praying.
00:48:22
Speaker
um It, you know, and then it just kind of keeps everything, you know, in that flow, just that, that healthy mind space. um I do sometimes pray before i sometimes, you know,
00:48:36
Speaker
A lot of, you know, my sessions now are set up to just be so intentional for an encounter um for the client. And ah so, you know, the music I'm playing, you know, everything kind of plays a role there. Yeah.
00:48:51
Speaker
what was, good tell me the question again. Do you, do you say a prayer before you start the service or are you, it sounds like you're intentionally just setting the tone. Yes. And just, yeah, yeah. And I do, yeah, I pray, I pray throughout, you know, um just kind of like what I'm, you know, picking up energetically, you know, and just, and then and just pray. um and so, yeah, always, always operating from prayer really ah before, during, after, just you know, staying close to him because again, i don't want to do it by myself. I can't.
00:49:26
Speaker
You did mention something that, um, I don't know. I don't remember your words specifically, but if you like keeping that line of communication open as you're doing the service and if you get say like a download from God that is meant for your client,
00:49:43
Speaker
Do you share that with your client or how do you navigate that? I do. i do. um So now, you know, when I practiced in Dallas, my space was not set up as a Christian business.
00:49:55
Speaker
That's who I am, you know, and, but, you know, one of the things that I love about Jesus is that he meets everybody where they're at. And that's really how the Lord taught me to to serve people was just to meet people where they're at, you know, so like,
00:50:10
Speaker
it looked, you know, and that's, that's how it looks when you serve, because God knows where they're at, you know, and so when people come, came into that space, I very much, you know, we would have conversations, and then, you know, maybe they would share with me their beliefs, their faith, and then, you know, and say, well, let me pray with you, you know, and we would pray, and that's kind of where that boldness kind of developed, and then um you know, very much just operated that way. Now in this space, he has established it as a ministry and
00:50:45
Speaker
I mean, everybody that comes here is is coming for that. I probably even more than skincare at this point. And so, yes, I do. i um and it's, I have seen some, ah man, I have seen heaven touch this place since it's become a real, like it is a ministry because people are coming from that. They're ready to receive, they're hungry and God loves,
00:51:09
Speaker
uses that time. And um yeah, i've it's, it's been incredible to witness. ah So yeah, I'll speak it out with whatever he tells me, I speak it. um He, well, that's so funny because when he was teaching me to do that, you know, cause that's scary, right? Cause you're gonna be like, well, there go thing. I'm crazy. But um one of the first things I was in Dallas and I just started my aesthetics practice. I was supplementing income, working as a nurse for this um company. We would travel around and just like, take vital signs and things for their insurance.
00:51:40
Speaker
And I'm coaching this guy on his numbers and the Lord in my head, i could hear tell him he's a man of wisdom and a man of favor. And I was like, no, no, no, no no And it just like louder. it felt like it was just going to come out of my mouth. And instead of just saying, you know, i saying it, I asked him, I said, do you believe in God? And he was like, no. And I was like,
00:52:03
Speaker
okay, I'm totally wrong. you know, I just, in my head, I'm having this conversation and he just, he said, tell him he's a man of wisdom and a man of favor. And so I was like, well, I'm going to sound completely crazy to you, but God is telling me to tell you that you're a man of wisdom and a man of favor. And he just nodded his head. And then I coached him on his numbers. And before he left, he said, i appreciate you telling me that. And when everything ended that day and I got my car ready to go home, um I'd almost like kind of just forgot about it. And the Lord brought it back to my mind. And he said, do you not doubt how I use you.
00:52:37
Speaker
And so it was kind of just like when I say, go, go you know, and and so from that point forward, and it's kind of like what I said earlier, God said, I'll go before you and I'll make the way, you know, I'll pave the way for them

Living Abundantly through Faith

00:52:51
Speaker
to receive. When they come in they're ready. And it's so powerful, you know, to see that transaction take place where God literally will take something they're holding on to and remove it and fill it with him. and his truth and his light and his love. And it, man, I mean, it's powerful. It's really powerful.
00:53:15
Speaker
I just, I keep coming back to this, that you, are just so in tune with him because it he can move through you so fluidly and clearly and loudly. And, um,
00:53:33
Speaker
Yeah, it's just, it's a testament to everything I think you've been through and your healing and your own stewardship of your body. i think we do have to have our bodies in, i mean, like you said, like mentally, physically, and spiritually in the right space for that to flow fluidly like it does through Right. Yeah. Cause it's like everything that we're dealing with is ultimately, you you know put there to distract us, to steal, kill, and de destroy from our our life. and Christ said, I came so that they'd have life and they'd have it abundantly.
00:54:09
Speaker
And abundance doesn't necessarily mean all of this wealth. It means the wealth and the things that matter, you know, the things of the Spirit, possessing the fruits of the Spirit, possessing peace. Everybody is chasing health and healing. But until you get that peace established, from knowing God, from hearing his voice, knowing he loves you, knowing that you're worthy of it, nothing else really can stick. It's like, that is the foundation.
00:54:37
Speaker
And that only comes from knowing him, abiding in him. And, you know, it's, it changes everything. So, you know, I love our outline and everything, but like, I've got some questions because, yeah well, here's, here's what I'm really,
00:54:57
Speaker
oh like, I know that you can provide so much insight in this. um We live in a very distracting world. And what I'm hearing you saying, and what I want to get more into is, you know, and, and I think all, all three of us know for sure, like for you to be able to be in tune, to hear spirit, to hear God,
00:55:20
Speaker
to carry things out, you have to take care of your vessel. Like you're saying, I mean, you have to be in a place where you can hear it and you can share it and you can be led and you can be trusting and you can surrender. You know, we live in a world where the enemy really is working over time, over time, but over time right now to distract us from that. And to, you know, um,
00:55:45
Speaker
impede on the vessel and make that really hard for us to hear and and stay in that alignment and and feel God and hear God. What advice do you have for people in this day and age?
00:55:58
Speaker
And how do you live a life? Like what are some of your your daily practices, your daily habits, your your personal boundaries that are allowing you to stay so in tune and so clear without Like Tiffany says, going off the cliff a little bit, you know, like you're starting to get distracted, you're starting to feel yourself, you know, go this direction.
00:56:25
Speaker
How, what do you have to say about that? What would you share with estheticians, especially about that? Yeah. You know, again, like I i always think of it.
00:56:40
Speaker
I'm a very visual person. I feel like a lot of estheticians are, you know, we learn things visually, you know, like my husband, he can sit and listen to a lecture for hours and, you know, and I'm not me. I'm like, what is she doing? Thinking, you know, I'm distracted.
00:56:53
Speaker
So I like to think of things visually and I think of it as like, a battle and you know we're we're told to put on the full armor and I think of like these these attempts to distract kill just you know steal and destroy as spiritual attacks and so um i just stay armored up you know like you know the Bible tells us that the shield of faith you know will extinguish the fiery darts of the enemy and so staying in that position of staying close to God and living from his wisdom that he you know his his truths it it kind of it keeps you there it keeps you covered in a sense it also keeps you in a deep place of reflecting because I've learned that everything that exists in me that is not aligned with God's wisdom is open doors of opportunity for the enemy to steal from that abundance that Christ died to give us so it's like if you know
00:57:55
Speaker
i am operating from lack, then i am going to be very overwhelmed all the time. I'm going to be um anxious. you know i'm i'm not I'm not really fully, I'm not operating from that belief of the truth of that God provides abundantly. So it's like when I take time to sit with God and reflect and like gleam understanding from His Word and apply that to my life, then I come into alignment with that wisdom You know, that that way that God created is to live, to live abundantly.
00:58:29
Speaker
And, um you know, it just becomes a way of life. It just how you, how you live. And it truly does become abundant, you know, because I have dealt with depression, debilitating depression, self-hate to the point of harming self-harm. i have, I have dealt with crippling anxiety, panic attacks, being medicated for And now, know,
00:58:57
Speaker
you know, i walk freely. I walk free from all of the things that once enslaved me and and kept me captive and kept me feeling defeated and oppressed.
00:59:07
Speaker
And not that there are not times where the enemy doesn't launch those attacks to try to tell me that I'm still oppressed and burdened by those things. But now through these years of overcoming, I recognize, no, ah no, I'm not.
00:59:22
Speaker
No, I'm not. I don't believe that, you know? And When your mind gets freed, and you know not to say that you're not still going to experience things, right? You can show up different because you're not burdened with all the worries and the weight of the world. You're you're free. and And then that gives ah God an opportunity to truly you know work through you.
00:59:46
Speaker
you know i tell i used to tell my clients, it kind of explained it like this. If i stand up straight and I have my arms stretched out, kind of like it looked like a little bit a cross, right? And I'm wanting the Holy Spirit to just flow through me freely, like a steady stream.
01:00:01
Speaker
But everywhere that there is a belief that's not in alignment with God's truth, it is a place where i could potentially, you know, it'd be myself flowing and not not God, right? Or or it could...
01:00:17
Speaker
create a lens of deception over my eyes where I'm not seeing truth correctly. Right. So the, the goal is to, you know, kind of die to self so that God can live through us. And that is that abundant living. It's not that we disappear.
01:00:30
Speaker
It's, we actually come more into alignment with every who we actually are. You know, I feel like the old Bria was operating out of every hurt, every fear, every doubt and worry And that created a lot of behaviors that weren't just really piled on more shame and more worry, more fear. And as I've become, you know, free, closer to God, living out his way, then i don't walk around in fear all the time and very obsessive worrying. And, and, you know, I have peace, I have self-discipline. i literally possess the fruits of spirit. Like that's where I live from, you know, and that's abundance.
01:01:09
Speaker
It makes me wonder if like the, the, Well, it makes me wonder if the best way to start two is to just pray for protection and pray for that armor against like basically the evils and the distractions of the world.
01:01:25
Speaker
Yeah, it is. It is. It's, you know, when I came out of the the mental hospital, I walked out of the hospital and this into the same circumstances that put me in there.
01:01:36
Speaker
Nothing had changed, but my position had changed. I had decided going to hold on to God. and And this is how I visualized it. It was like, I was holding on to his cross that was in his ground. And it was like, no matter what, when came, I would let go.
01:01:51
Speaker
I'm like, I'm going to do, I'm, I'm staying here because I tried all that and it didn't work. It almost killed me. So I am, I'm staying here. and Over the years, it has been gradual. you know That's another thing. It's like ah we lead a lot of people to the pulpit you know saying, you better change. you know like God's here. You're a new creation.
01:02:16
Speaker
The spiritual shift takes place immediately. You know, you come under the blood of Christ, you you're washed clean. But the mental, it takes abiding. It takes relationship. Because here's the thing. I went to church and they told me that God loved me, that I could trust him, that he would fight for me, he'd protect me. But that is not what I experienced in the world. And I didn't believe that.
01:02:39
Speaker
I thought I did. i did. I loved God. I wanted to be pleasing to God, but I didn't believe that in my mind and my subconscious. And so because of that,
01:02:50
Speaker
You know, i was always trying to fill these these places, right? But when i came to know God personally, Just like if i wanted to if I wanted to know you personally, if I wanted to be be able to trust you and and we wanted to have a you know ah relationship where we loved each other, I'm going to need to come and spend time with you.
01:03:10
Speaker
And as I did that and I really started to learn who he is and he started to love me so much that it filled the spaces that where I no longer needed those things or believed the lies, then everything changed.
01:03:24
Speaker
You know, and it that took time. That's taken, that's, I'm still in that process. You know, I could come here and share everything that he's taught me and everything he's doing, but he's still working in me every day. And that's our personal, you know, relationship. That's different from what I'm doing in here, being a vessel, right? That's him tending to my needs because I mean more to him than my purpose, you know?
01:03:47
Speaker
and And that's, that's that, that we live from that. And and we know that, we trust that, we believe that. everything changes. You go from just thinking, you know, somebody telling you you can trust God to really, truly trusting him so much that it takes away all fear.

Spiritual Awakening and Healing

01:04:06
Speaker
And, you know, from everybody telling you that God sees you this way to him, actually seeing you that way, you experiencing him, loving you that way. And then you see yourself different, you know?
01:04:21
Speaker
It has me thinking, I read this just yesterday and I've been like thinking about it since is, um, I read, and this is how I interpreted it. That like the second coming of Christ, isn't going to be like Christ showing up in human form as a man. The second coming of Christ is actually this awakening and this rising of humanity that we're actually like coming home to ah to God through us. It's like this own inner healing with a relationship of God. And that is actually the second coming of Christ, which, you know, I don't know what your thoughts are on that, but that just is like this conversation has me thinking of that. of That is what this is. And that is what this like awakening in all of us is having conversation around it. And
01:05:13
Speaker
I don't know, he like yeah nurturing and our relationship with God so that we can be better vessels and we can work in our purpose. And i don't know, it's just a healing of humanity.
01:05:25
Speaker
Yeah, you know, and there's different... um theology, you know, there's different commentary around how that all plays out, what it all looks like. But the more that I read the Bible, the closer to God that i have come, the more that began to align with that view as well. um You know, because we are the dwelling place, ah you know, and that us kind of come into that fullness of knowing that and and walking that out, you know, is is ultimately like that revelation of of Christ, you know, coming back. Yeah. And i I don't, you know, I don't pretend to know everything. i feel like you can get yourself in trouble with that because i don't, you know, I don't know everything. I'm learning every day, but I have become
01:06:12
Speaker
more aligned with that viewpoint as I dive deeper into scripture. And, you know, because that's something that recently the Lord pointed out to me when studying Revelation is that a lot of things, you know, that were given to these prophets and in these visions, um you know, that were, these visions were symbolic.
01:06:33
Speaker
But what, you know, but we, and what that's kind of translated to in religion is expecting evil to show up in the form of evil, like be obvious, right? But it's not, it's not obvious. It's not obvious at all if you're not walking with Christ. and it's, yeah, I i definitely, um you know, I think that's part of that, like seeing the symbolism and like beginning to understand things as you read it through and interpret it through the spirit. um
01:07:07
Speaker
But yeah, I mean, there's just so much to know. Like we but we couldn't possibly know all of it. And I'm not really like a Bible scholar. I love the Lord and I try, but you know, so no game i mean, a lot of that symbolism, it's hard foot to interpret. It's a lot. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
01:07:24
Speaker
I think what's really important about this conversation is that
01:07:31
Speaker
our, I think we are going through that right now, right? Where we have to decide what we're going to choose, you know? And i think, again, in this industry as estheticians, where we're working so closely with people, you know, and then those of you who, you know, both of you are still in the treatment room and I'm not, but where you're,
01:07:50
Speaker
you're in that intimate setting and, you know, you have your hands on people and you have that opportunity to really heal people on another level. i think that, um, that's why we love to have these conversations is because it starts with us, of course. And then it starts with Having the stewardship over being an esthetician and being in this position to work so intimately through love with people and empowering people and helping them see their own, you know, sacred beauty and their own sacredness and encouraging that healing and showing people love like. I feel like that is our power in the industry, like all three of us. And then I know that there are so many other people out there and that this is the movement in the industry, because this is what we're going through in our world right now. And, you know, the more of us who can this work and do this healing and come to God and ah start really practicing as being more of a steward and like, let go of the, the social media and the pressure and the comparison and the, the vanity that can come, it's deeper than that. And there's such an opportunity right now for more of us to bring this into the industry again, because we are so hands-on and working with people. So i just wanted to tie that into conversation because that's really, you know, what we're all about right now. And it is one of our just biggest messages right now. And you're, you're putting it into words that I'm just not sure that I ever could.
01:09:22
Speaker
Well, You know, i agree. i agree. is It is, you know, like when i what I've watched God do is really beautiful in the sense of when i you know, going back to being in the hospital,
01:09:37
Speaker
um when I was in there, i i learned some things about mental health and and all of that. But really what God did was he put me in a place that was safe and quiet enough that I could hear him.
01:09:53
Speaker
And I can encounter him. And that's the same thing I try to provide in my treatment room is a space that is safe and quiet and where people can encounter God and they can be reminded that they're okay, that he is in control, that they're safe, you know, that they can, they can truly rest and release and receive that from him. And because that's, I feel like unfortunately what's been missing a lot in you know, these group settings amongst the church is like this real place, this authentic place of like letting the guards down and throwing the judgment out, right? And just allowing people to
01:10:40
Speaker
release and receive, you know, be ministered to from a real place. And this kind of sets a tone for that, that, you know, people come in and and are able to just let down the guard, let down the defensiveness, all of that, and just release and receive and encounter God. And, you know, I just, I think it's,
01:11:00
Speaker
it hasn't slipped past me that, that God did that for me. And now he's allowing me to facilitate a space that does that for

Authenticity in Client Relationships

01:11:08
Speaker
other people. And that is ultimately what we have an opportunity to do as estheticians, you know? And I think one of the things that it's it's, it's just important, you know, to remember that because people come in and they're in the middle of something and they share with us their situation, like the advice, the feedback that we give, like,
01:11:28
Speaker
you know, that matters. It matters. And, you know, cause we're helping them or possibly hindering them. Right. So it's, you know, when you show up that way, that it's very intentional and it, it shows up in every aspect of your work.
01:11:44
Speaker
It does. What advice would you give to, you know, one thing that when we're working with estheticians, they really struggle with the social media comparisons and pressure and all of that, what advice would you give to estheticians who can fall into that kind of darkness, kind of that dark space of getting caught up in that social media comparison trap that we see with estheticians, especially, I'm sure we just see it because that's our industry. I'm sure it happens in all around, what would you, what would you say? Well, even, being able to show up authentically or show up at all too, because I think of the comparison shop they can fall into.
01:12:27
Speaker
Right. okay Yes. i actually, I made a video on this other day because I have been mentoring other estheticians and I um have had several in a row who were just like,
01:12:40
Speaker
completely depleted because of the social media aspect. And I'm like, look, you did not go to school to be a social media influencer. You went to school to be an aesthetician, you know? So when you're like, and this is what I said in the video for the first 10 years of aesthetics for me,
01:13:00
Speaker
ah Social media was an afterthought. I did not get clients from social media. I got clients because I was giving an amazing service and people couldn't quit talking about it. And they were telling their friends and they were coming. All of my attention for those first 10 years went towards that service, perfecting that service, that flow, my knowledge and skill set around this treatment table. And then...
01:13:24
Speaker
God was like, let's make a page and let's educate and inspire other people. Right. And even there, it's like that is, you know, helping other people to be able to facilitate these type of environments.
01:13:39
Speaker
um And if you are an esthetician is just wanting to be in your treatment room and create that space, you can absolutely like we're create, most of us are creatives, you know, like, we like to decorate our room, we've got visual, you know, we're visual people. um And so if you enjoy that,
01:13:58
Speaker
make your your page or portfolio, you know, share a little bit of your life, your lifestyle, your love for skincare, some of your knowledge and information, you know, let your clients know who that you are so they can follow you there. They can tell their friends to go check you out before they come see you, or maybe they come see you and they follow you and, you know, so they can keep up and build that relationship.
01:14:18
Speaker
If you're wanting to educate or mentor, then that, you know, looks a little different, right? You're obviously going to step into that that role to be able to, bring in, you know, clients to that mentoring or podcast or whatever you're doing.
01:14:34
Speaker
But yeah, I mean, still the focus is it should, it should not go away from aesthetics, you know, and if it's causing you to feel discouraged or burnout, don't do it, you know, step away from it for a while. come back of it, come back to it in a new frame of mind, but don't put any pressure on it. Because like, even with the page I have now, if I obsessed over followers or loss of followers or, you know, what everybody thought, I wouldn't do it. I couldn't do that. I couldn't keep up with that pressure. So I still like, I just, I just be me. I'm just me.
01:15:08
Speaker
just do what I'm doing. I'm just showing what I'm, you know, if you don't like it, Well, go, you can go somewhere else. If you do stay, you know, and that's the mentality, like, that's how we have to approach it or else it's just gonna, it's gonna wear you out. It's gonna freak you out. What when it starts you yeah what would you say about the, you know, between authenticity and like comparison, ah you don't sound like somebody who compares yourself to other estheticians. because you're so firm in who you are. Tiffany and I are very much the same. We we really don't have that struggle with social media, but most estheticians do. They're like watching, they're comparing. um How have you not fallen prey to that? Or have you, have you had that experience and what advice would you give if people are comparing themselves to that, to other estheticians?
01:16:05
Speaker
Yeah, no, I, um, You know, I think as women in general, we have kind of been programmed to compete, you know, cheer competitions, beauty competitions, competition, competition, you know. And so, of course, you know, as a woman, I've had to, you know, break patterns of thinking, you know, recognize that it's there. It's not bright, not true and and break it.
01:16:32
Speaker
um And, you know, even now, like, because, you know, people can even give off energetic messages, right? Like the defense, like defensiveness, those things, like we feel those things, even like people who are not empathetic or feel things like that. Like we feel those things, you know, even if you're not, you're not consciously aware.
01:16:56
Speaker
Um, and so sometimes you get triggered by those things and you have to like, remind yourself, um, No, i know who I am, you know, not in a way that it means I'm better than you, but like, I know who I am, you know? And also too, I think that when you learn to just be content, you know, and, and kind of lose the ambition and, and all that, it it all just starts to flow from like where you're at and who you are. And you also recognize that,
01:17:27
Speaker
we don't all have to be exactly the same. We don't have to do it all exactly the same. You know, we're going to meet people where they're at, according to where we are at and where we've been and what we've overcome and what we can speak to.
01:17:37
Speaker
And so, you know, and that, you you know, like to be a unified body of Christ, we've got to get out of this mindset of comparison and, and recognize we're working together on the same team to lift the same thing, you know, like it's, you know, so it's just that active reflection and recognizing that if I'm being triggered or being upset, it's because something is in me. What am I telling myself?
01:18:02
Speaker
You know, am am I telling myself, you know, whatever and and take that thought captive, realign it with truth. And, move along, you know? I love that. I was listening to a podcast. love the same team.
01:18:15
Speaker
Yes, absolutely. We really are all on the same team. We're on the same team. don We have the same goal. We're on the same mission.

Social Media and Professional Authenticity

01:18:23
Speaker
yeah I love that so much. I would love to know your thoughts about this. So the podcast I was listening to this morning, she was saying like, hey, when you're, you know, triggered,
01:18:35
Speaker
by someone else that you see on social media, usually what we recognize in others is either something for us to learn from, like you're saying like, Oh, why, why did I feel that way?
01:18:46
Speaker
But also usually the amazing things that we see in other people, we see them because we actually recognize that in ourselves. There's actually like a soul recognition, which because we really are all unified, we really are all one. you know, when we see something in somebody else, it's, we can learn from that and be inspired by that and think what, you know, maybe like I could do that too. know, have the light too. And I can do that too. I think that there's that reframe part of it as well. Don't you agree when, ah when I see someone doing awesome, like when I see you, i am like, what can I do to help you? i love this, you know, like i want to encourage other people's light, like I very rarely, ah would I ever have the other thought of like comparison? I'm like more power to you. This is incredible. Um, but what do you think about that? Like when you see something in someone else, you know, that probably means we have that same ability or that same talent or something that we can also, i don't know, access within ourselves, if you will.
01:19:53
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, no, absolutely. And I, you know, like that's, um, you know, one of the things that I saw ah you know, from being the facilitator of this page is that after, um you know, ah started to gain more of a following and I think people started to see like, oh, she's talking about that and people are following it, you know, then I started to see more people putting their faith out there a little bit more boldly, you know, from, from this angle. And, know,
01:20:27
Speaker
I'm like, wow. I mean, like, that's when I just like so take a step back and just look at God and all, you know, I'm like, he always knows what he's doing. Right. And it's opening the door for maybe more people to feel um like that that that the world is wrong when they say that it won't be successful because you've invited Jesus there or you talk about Jesus. Right.
01:20:50
Speaker
And that is the way that we should, That's what we should be like. We should want more people to feel bolder and more and and more confident because then they're going to help more people, you know. And as like, again, we're human and our flesh is what it is you know,
01:21:12
Speaker
we have to just recognize that when we feel these ways, that there's something, there's some reason, there's something to that and figure it out and then move forward, you know, not just stay there and allow it to overcome us and harden our heart and, you know, and make us sick, you know, living in lack. um Because the truth is that I can have 40,000 people follow me and the same 40,000 can follow you.
01:21:41
Speaker
You know, that's just two accounts, right? Like we're not in competition. It's not like, and then there's people that I see every day. i didn't even know their account existed and they've got 300,000 followers. mean there's, you know, I mean like, and again, you know, I think for it to be successful, it's going to have to come from that steward place anyways, because there's,
01:22:01
Speaker
Energetic messages and everything that we put out. And so it's like the position that you put something out in is going to be what you received back.

Holistic vs. Organic Skincare

01:22:08
Speaker
So if you're being defensive, putting it out, don't you expect some defensiveness in your comments, right? Like, yes.
01:22:16
Speaker
Well, you know, true. You're giving people permission like you you are giving people permission to you know, really act from the heart and, and bring God into the equation in their own businesses. And, and that's really what it is. I think as women, the more authentic we are and the more we stand on our own power and authenticity and ah You give other other people permission to do the same thing and the beautiful domino effect that that has on people is really what we're here to do. So you're you're really one of the best at that too and it's it's why we admire you so much. um You know, we definitely want to make sure that we give you time to talk about, okay, well, I actually do have one specific question.
01:23:07
Speaker
okay.
01:23:10
Speaker
You have said in a post before the three types of estheticians.
01:23:19
Speaker
Tell us more about this. you know what talking about? Yes, I do. um so you know, we've got your, your kind of clinical, more medical setting esthetician, and then you have an organic esthetician and then holistic esthetician. And that's, you know, the categories that I have created, I guess, but I, I say that because, um,
01:23:44
Speaker
You know, ah you're seeing people are there's a there's a wide kind of array of what holistic means in the aesthetics field and the aesthetics industry, because, you you know, I think what people are beginning to label as holistic is um acknowledging that the body is a whole.
01:24:05
Speaker
And that ah you need to adjust your diet and your lifestyle in order to see these changes. And that's great. You know, ah not i don't condemn any of these, whatever you want to do, right?
01:24:20
Speaker
But holistic is operating from this place of recognizing like, that not only do you need to be doing these things, but these things can work against the goals that you're setting here, right? Like, so I'm not going to have any products in my treatment room that could impact the, disrupt the hormones if I'm trying to get the hormones balanced in order to ah see, you know, more abundant health.
01:24:50
Speaker
And so it's really, really, you know, Again, you know, though the beauty industry, we've got all these devices, all this equipment, all of these products, all of the things. um And it can be difficult to kind of lay all of that down and aside to really put the focus on the skin as an organ and the person as a whole.
01:25:13
Speaker
Because we've been taught taught and trained and programmed for so long that we need all of this. But once you begin to really understand that, the majority of what the skin needs is coming from coming in you know from what's internal.
01:25:28
Speaker
And then once we're able to get that balanced, then they come into this space to relax and receive and reset. And yeah I mean, yeah, we can get the skin glowing. you know We can do some germplaning with some you know some great serums and oils and you know you're gonna leave here, people are gonna be talking about your skin.
01:25:49
Speaker
Um, but that that's what it's about, you know, like it's about not sacrificing any part of it, you know, like that's, that's true holistic, you know, like all things are working together. um And so that I think the organic is a little bit is like being mindful of that and, you know, choosing cleaner products and and moving in that direction. But it's not quite there, you know, and that's I'm not like, again, I'm not condemning that I'm just like, that's kind of the definition of those categories. Yeah.

Ebook on Holistic Practices

01:26:24
Speaker
I love that you shared that. Actually, I really loved that post that you made. And i love the way that you describe being a holistic esthetician. It is so all encompassing. Thank you for going deeper into that. um Yeah.
01:26:37
Speaker
Okay, so tell us about your ebook and then tell it tell everyone about your coaching. And then i will have these links in the the show notes for everybody too. But I'm so impressed with your ebook. I read the first few pages and I can't wait to get deeper into it. So just share that with our community so that they can receive that from you when they're ready.
01:27:01
Speaker
ah Yeah. so actually that topic that we just discussed is kind of like what led to the ebook, you know, because what I realized, well, first of all, when the, when God had me set up this treatment room, I could not quit thinking about the temple that Solomon built to the Lord and how every, every,
01:27:21
Speaker
you know, um the, what was like the, the wood that was used, the, the gold, it was all precious. It was all natural. And um i think there's even one where he mentions like, like some of the, the more, the louder things like the hammering and stuff, like some of those parts were done outside and then brought in to like, just to just truly practice that reverence of the space, you know, like recognize like this,
01:27:50
Speaker
you know, holy temple. And so with the work that I'm doing in here, I'm very much wanting to engage the central nervous system. I'm wanting to help people to relax because if it's like one of the reasons why I think people are not hearing from God as well as maybe we used to, for one, there's all the distractions, but for two, we've got all these defenses and these protective parts that we formed. And so in order to really get into that space of encountering We need for that to everything's okay. And so when the body gets calm and then we're in that place where we can just let go and let God, right, just release and receive from him. um And in order to do that, we need the the setting matters. The room matters.
01:28:36
Speaker
you know Just for instance, like the biggest example I have of that is like using synthetic fragrances. That is going to tell the body chaos. And when the body's tell like being told chaos, it's not in a state of healing, repair. Whereas if we have essential oils, then it's telling the body relax, calm, release. um ah the you know I've gone in for massages before where the washing powders, I'm very sensitive to washing powders. and make my skin itchy and all that. But like, you can just, all you can smell is that. And I can't even enjoy the the massage because the, the washing powder scent is so overwhelming. And I'm, I'm really sensitive to that stuff, you know, like, so it's all these things kind of taken consideration of and, um,
01:29:26
Speaker
kind of putting that in the book, you know, like just to give people, and you know, this knowledge and then, you know, you can kind of do with it what you want, you know, but i go into um preparing the space, you know, like plants, natural decor, all of that elevates the frequency of the space. It really just it you know plants purify the air their life their life giving the you know have a piece of big piece of coral you know that's the has a higher frequency than a piece of plastic right and so just everything kind of mattering and not that God has to have these things but it's like God is a God of order and when we came out from under the law it didn't mean that those things didn't have a purpose There were priestly garments made of lemon, lemon, because London is the higher frequency than like these synthetic fabrics, right? Like there were all these things that God had, had us doing for order to limit exposure in these sacred environments. And so I wanted to to replicate that. And then I wanted to show other people like how to do that, how to even just start in that direction, you know, um
01:30:39
Speaker
When I'm mentoring people, I'm like, don't, you have to do it all right now. You know, just little steps, you know, into that, that space, into that direction. so that's what the ebook's about. um i also go into like detoxing yourself as the vessel, you know, making sure that you're making time for yourself, making space to sit with God and be filled up.
01:31:01

um So everything that kind of energetically, spiritually around the treatment room that could impact that healing atmosphere kind of put that in there. I have that available on my website, uh, sacred beauty by Bria.com. And, uh, I'm working on another ebook that I'm, I just keep thinking of more things to put in it. Um, and, but it's on oils, the sacred art of using oils in the treatment room, uh, carrier oils, essential oils and practices, all that. So that'll be available there too soon. I just want to of have like a little, I just foresee like having like a, like writing the eBooks more so than I'm thinking about a course maybe, but I like, I like the eBook style.

Tell everyone about your, your coaching, the mentoring that you're doing. Um, so right now i just, I'm offering three different calls, uh, 45 minutes, 60 minute and 90 minute. i'm ah I'm about to shift that up a little bit because what I'm seeing is that they're like, I want what you're doing and what you have, but they don't, you know, and as I've practiced this way, I'm seeing more like, you know, some people are coming for more deeper dive into ingredients and working more in that practitioner role. Some people are coming because they want to, learn how to incorporate more spiritual faith-based practices. So I'm going to set the calls up like that. um
01:32:28
Speaker
um That's in the works. But yeah, you can book those calls on the website, sacredbeautybybria.com. I've got it linked to my bio on on Instagram. um And yeah, I mean, I just, it's, it's really just, you know, i feel like I've developed this skill set through my work of you know, understanding how to to help you set up that space, how to market and manage that space from a place of abundance rather than lack.
01:32:59

Toolkit or tool set, if you will, to be able to help people and with their their their mindset, you know, the limitations that we put on ourself, the beliefs that we're working against our our goals, you know, those that kind of internal thought system that we're we have the inner healing. Right. So.
01:33:25
Speaker
so I feel like if, you know, because sometimes estheticians will come into that space thinking that they're coming for this knowledge when really they've already got the skill. They just are lacking the confidence. And so we really will just tune in you know, on that, that, you know, what are you telling yourself?
01:33:45
Speaker
What are you believing about what you're, you know, when you step into that space, you know? yeah.
01:33:53
Speaker

Understanding God's Love

01:33:56
