Hello and welcome to episode number 56 of Just Shillin. I am one of your hosts, Sean Hoffman. And I am your other host, Andy Bell. How you doing, Sean?
00:00:17
Speaker
Oh, buddy, i am I am glad to be home. i am I'm back in home. I'm back home. Excellent. not I didn't get sick, even though every everybody else seems to be getting sick, so I'm thanking whoever's looking over me right now to keep that. You've dodged that bullet.
00:00:35
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, it's not completely out of the way because we do, we did get a surprise notification a couple days ago that Madison's dad and some friends are coming out ah for like an extended weekend. And so that means we're going to be out doing social things and visiting people who are also traveling. And so, yeah, I haven't dodged that bullet just yet. I got a couple more days to see if I can, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Gifts and Collectibles

00:00:59
Speaker
like You have done a lot this month so far. You have done a lot, and it's only bringing halfway through the month. But you've been pretty full on. It's it's been a busy year, and it just kind of keeps keeps adding up. Sure. For sure. Well, um contra cycle well go go ahead and and that i got contrary to that, it's been really quiet for me this week, really, really quiet the last week.
00:01:29
Speaker
Um, there's not a lot going on. Um, treatment is kind of taking a backseat while I get over a few of these after effects at the moment. Um, but, uh, yeah, so it's been a really, really quiet week, which has meant, um, I don't have an awful lot to talk about, but I have picked up a few things, um, that I'm sure we can talk about later. Sorry. I rudely interrupted and you hadn't, you hadn't finished your week, man.
00:01:52
Speaker
Not no worries. I got I got I forgot to turn off notification. So like it like jolted me out I got like a really loud in my ear and I was like, ah, what is that? And so it I gave space and you you jumped in and took it rightfully so um The i did have a couple I do have a couple of things going on this week that i'll call that I are interesting. i've been Like you said, I've been crazy busy. We're home again. um The first thing I did, or not the first thing because I couldn't because we got back at midnight, but one of the one of the first things that I did once it became daylight was I went to the post office to pick up a package
00:02:28
Speaker
that ah one Mr. Andy Bell sent my way. which she That's a whole story in itself of just, hey, shout out to all the people who work for USPS that I got to deal with because the way it was shipped, if they shouldn't have held it at the post office. They were going to ship it right back. but lots of pulling of strings and people kind of jumping in to help. They held it while we were gone and I was able to pick it up when I got back. So shout out to all of them. That was very stressful. But they helped. Thanks, thanks USPS. But inside of said box were some gifts that I would love. First of all, thank you, thank you, thank you, buddy. I was gonna message you before this, but I wanted to put it on the pod. It'd be like, dude, sweet. Thank you, thank you for the box. Thank you for the gifts. I have my, so the first item is my giant inter key.
00:03:17
Speaker
ah that It's currently plugged into my computer, so I can't pull it too far, but you can see it. um I took it into Madison's office yesterday and had to plug it into her computer, and we got a video of her smashing it. and ah cat She has like a ah cat bed that sits attached to the desk, and it scared the crap out of Scoop when she smashed her fist into the and do it and pressed enter. Just once. It's the collection of it's the collection of um um even birthday, silly birthday presents and silly Christmas presents that i' I'd kind of collected for for you and was hoping to to to to to give you when we were in, when I was in Tokyo. Now that now that's not happening, it makes it made sense to ship it out to you. But without that particular item, um I saw it and I had to buy it. because I actually saw it in a store and I had to buy it immediately. because it's like that that just that That's just shorn all over.
00:04:13
Speaker
Yeah, has anybody anybody who knows me well knows that I believe that the world needs more silly shit. Like we just all need a little bit more silliness in our life. And this is my, my interkey that is the size of a shoe is a boot is fantastic. I love it a lot.
00:04:30
Speaker
um I did also get, you got, you see sent along a ah holiday Star Wars black series. I don't have that in here because I packed it away with the rest of the Christmas stuff yesterday, but I did get a picture and I posted it on the internet. And then i got I got, just for reviewing, just for reviewing for people, I did i did keep the rest of it here, I got two sick manga books from right here.
00:04:52
Speaker
I got the Star Wars Guardian of the Wills manga, which looks awesome. In the end, the Star Wars Visions, I'm looking forward to taking these downstairs and putting them by the bed so that I can read them and I can say, look sick.
00:05:05
Speaker
I also got my Star Wars Blueprints book. It's weird. It kind of feels like it's been opened. You know, that's that's a call he what it is. It is vintage. It is vintage. ah it It was already. It was already. um It was already opened when um should

Travel Plans and Home Reorganization

00:05:25
Speaker
we say used when I but when I bought it from.
00:05:29
Speaker
a a particular, ah it was one of the toy fairs, one of the toy fairs that I went to with Kevin Kress. I hope Chris Hall appreciates that callback. I've been holding on to that joke. I've been holding on to that one for a while. Probably one of my favorite things is the Where's the Wookie book, as everybody may or may not know.
00:05:49
Speaker
they are I do love a where's Waldo find kinda like brain tickling, find the thing in the giant art artwork. I just love the, I just think it's fascinating the way they they draw all those. So there's that. I think I dropped some things. I think some things fell behind. Oh no, I got the turtle the turtle crawler. He's up there. He's he's attached to my shelf. So I'm not gonna say I'm gonna get that. I got some Lego little, at that look like advent calendar starships. I got a bomber and is it the bad batch ship? Yeah, that's right. Yeah, and it's the shit that they have. and was well every name it it ah it it turned up and um It turned up in, ah um I don't know, it turned up with something that I i bought and I thought, well, these are loose and the and the bag had split. So I thought, well, let me build them and and pack them with with with with with stuff so that you can kind of at least know that they're in one piece.
00:06:48
Speaker
Yeah, and they're they're back there on the shelf back there with my other big my big tie bomber there It's down below baby back baby bombers down there. And then the last thing is the obi-wan Kenobi Lola Lola bot that I'm going to get motivated and I'm gonna weather that like you like you requested well, I I saw I mean again, I saw ah i i I Bought myself for one as well um And I follow a particular creator or artist on um on YouTube and he weathered it and it looked meant to look really, really good. I thought I know someone that can have a play with this and um challenge accepted make something from it.
00:07:36
Speaker
I'm not going to look up that YouTube video, whoever it is, and because I don't want to get... I'll do my my own my own ideas and then make you appear. Challenge accepted. Yeah, dude. and So thank you. That was awesome. There could've been... No worries, man. No worries.
00:07:50
Speaker
um As you can tell, my office is a bit of a disaster. So I'm like looking around like, I don't i think that was everything. If there was something else, I apologize. It's probably on a shelf or on a box somewhere. Yeah, so there was that. Outside of that, dude, I've been finally hung. Sorry. sorry and and and And the manga, the manga was, um um again, it was one of those things that that that that you and I appreciate.
00:08:16
Speaker
Star Wars manga. um We both um we both um really liked the manga take on Lost Stars. And as as a result of that, I've kind of been collecting i've kind of been collecting um the Star Wars manga since then, um such as, you know, Princess of old around all that kind of stuff. And so when I came to buying these I i bought two because I thought, Hey, it's my it's my little, it's my little, um I guess it's my little
00:08:53
Speaker
Japanese themed present suit to Sean, bearing in mind I'm going to be seeing him in um in Tokyo. So um that's the reason for that. No, I love it. du They're awesome. I i do have a lot of stars in this, so go nicely with with those. But after I read them, I'm not going to put them up here. I'll take them downstairs.
00:09:13
Speaker
work but but but But besides that dude, I've been busy obviously I look what you just talked about like things just keep coming up trying to plan trips to Trying to plan the Japan one because we've just been we've been swamped so we're like we haven't really I think it's gonna be kind of not doing like the big stuff since we we I've really booked it Yeah, and so we're we're actually might we actually might be adjusting it the schedule because Madison might be going to a conference now beforehand and so Down the south side of Japan and trying to get her work to pay for it, but it's not gonna happen, but we'll see um Last

Movie Trailers and Reactions

00:09:45
Speaker
night. I this is relevant to Japan. I almost said I almost I'm still debating I'm like maybe I just canceled the Japan trip
00:09:53
Speaker
and use that money for something different. And I'm gonna send you what triggered this. I since i just sent you a picture picture on Discord. And this thing almost had me had me on the edges of like, well, I mean, we don't really need to do Japan.
00:10:11
Speaker
up ah it that That is a a at Costco that is a indoor two-person sauna That you can put put anywhere in your home And it's got it's got a bluetooth speaker built inside. So yeah, it's like it's just an indoor an indoor sauna, and I'm like, Matt's like, we can't afford that. I'm like, if I cancel Japan, I can. and like ands struck It's very compelling. But most small we've got to post that photograph, your face. You have a deadpan face of this this sauna. That is...
00:10:50
Speaker
That is me figuring out how like I can make this work financially. That is dead eyes. i am mike i I can come up with this money. I can make this work. Holy shit, that's funny. That's really funny. Wow, what can I say? It's very compelling. Very, very compelling.
00:11:09
Speaker
I mean Scott, who doesn't want a sauna you can put anywhere in your home? It doesn't hook up to anything. I could just put it in the middle of the living room, like who cares? That'd be sick. I did just reorganize the crafter room, like the this ugly red room we have, we call it the gear room.
00:11:25
Speaker
I just got done redoing that. I put my giant mondo, is it mondo? The posters? My giant turtle picture in there? Those things are so big. Those things are so huge. That's the only place in the house I had room for, so I put it in there. Besides the bedroom, but I don't think Madison's gonna let me put a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles poster in the bedroom. Is it mounted now? Is it afraid? I framed it, yeah. Right, okay. So it's gonna be, that's a big piece of art.
00:11:53
Speaker
That's huge. I'm like, oh cool, it's gonna be a poster. And then I get it and it's like, this is this is like a movie poster that like you see at the movie theater. Like this thing is ridiculous. But I love it. It's awesome. It's so nice. Not talking bad about it. It's pretty cool.
00:12:08
Speaker
Outside of that, I've just been doing catching up, like we were gone for a couple weeks and then you come back home and it's like, oh, there's all the things that I didn't do before we left. And now time is of the essence. So I've been doing all that. um But I also caught up with some news and some content, but we'll talk about that in a minute. Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. So um when it comes down to news,
00:12:31
Speaker
um And I'll go first, because um i didn't I didn't pick up too much. they did it There's a couple of things I found really interesting. um The first was um Harrison Ford was on a press junket. He was on the press junket for um ah ah Captain America. Yeah. um And he was asked about, he was actually asked about, and that he had an interview with ah The Wall Street Journal.
00:13:02
Speaker
And the long and the short of it is that he was asked about the relative success or failure, in this case, failure of the latest indie film.
00:13:16
Speaker
And um he kind of responded nonchalantly, as you'd expect, as as the guy as the guy does. in that you know he kind of oh i would I wouldn't say defending it, but he was kind of like, well you a you know it it okay, it didn't land, it didn't land, but but I want to do it.
00:13:35
Speaker
So it kind of um it's quite an interesting read actually. It's an interesting interview anyway, but it's an interesting it's interesting that the guy who typically isn't known for defending his work, he kind of just kind of takes the money and runs. um he was He was very much into the um into making the movie and is still still yeah very, very proud of the movie itself. and had no had no qualms about defending it, which I thought was was kind of cool. he also i mean I thought it was cool because he was like... He almost had a mentality of like, me I don't really care because I enjoyed it. like It's not even the fact that he wanted to do it. and's like He's like, I thought it was... He's like, I thought there was a story to tell, and so I wanted to do it, night and I'm happy with the outcome. and And I enjoyed it. I think my takeaway from it is not that it was a bad movie. I think it's i think moderate it's hard to do a modern Indiana Jones movie.
00:14:40
Speaker
without without a complete reboot. Like, you could do an archeological Lara Croft kind of, Tomb Raider-y movie. I just think it's it's like a modern James Bond. Like, without completely changing the formula, I think it's almost impossible to do a modern Indiana Jones. Because modern art, yeah it's just it's boring for most audiences, or weird. Like, I don't know. I think it suffers from the same syndrome that Pyrex did as well.
00:15:05
Speaker
And yeah and that the the original trilogy was tied up so nicely with a bow on top that anything subsequent seems kind of somewhat ancillary as well. um Again, like the Pirates franchise has suffered from the same thing. um yeah When the story is told,
00:15:30
Speaker
um
00:15:32
Speaker
so eloquently, anything subsequent to that kind of is somewhat jarring. So I agree. and it's It's very, very hard to kind of um continue a story that's already that's already been told. um The next thing I saw, and I think it was actually part of the Super Bowl trailers, but I saw it independently, was the Jurassic World Rebirth trailer.
00:15:59
Speaker
um and i don't know if you saw i don't know if you saw the trailer do it looks looks good it looks good um am i excited about it um i'm not sure i'll be honest with you i'm i'm not sure not nothing nothing really blew my blew my mind. And I'm sure it's not meant to. I'm sure they'll keep surprises actually in the in the um in the film itself. But um yeah, nothing nothing particularly blew my mind watching watching the trailer. But um hey, i ah it's it's a Jurassic Park film. We love dinosaurs in in this in this house. We'll go and see it.
00:16:47
Speaker
Yeah, that's my mo my note for Jurassic World Rebirth is meh like I'm I do enjoy the Jurassic Park movies. I love kaiju movies. I love big monsters a again. Yeah monsters against monsters I'll be on like I'm am I excited. No, will I watch it? Absolutely. When will I watch it? I don't know I yeah, I will be honest the only reason that I this this announcement didn't go through one in through one ear and out the other is because Scarlett Johansson's in it. I'll be completely honest. It's like, yeah hat and deck in that first thought of how the heck did they get Scarlett Johansson for a Jurassic World, another Jurassic World reboot-ish kind of movie. And so then I watched the trailer and I'm like, okay.
00:17:31
Speaker
Like, am I going to complain that it's formulaic? No, because I enjoy the we go somewhere we shouldn't be. Why is there a kid? Oh, my God, the monsters. There's a bigger monster and our heroic monster saves the day. Do I care? No, I love that. Love that formula. Is it something I'm like, man, I can't wait for them to expand the Jurassic Park canon? Not really. Like, did we need this? No, but I'll watch it. I mean, I think it'll be interesting. I'm interested to see what they do, like how ridiculous is it gonna get? Because I do love the Kong movies, I love the Godzilla movies, I love, like I feel like it's turning more into that, like the modern Kong versus Godzilla kind of things, like. ah Yeah. Well, got Gareth's directing it, isn't he? Gareth Edwards? Yeah, and that's that's that's hit or miss. I mean, i I like it, I like his stuff. I do see a lot of people hanging a lot of
00:18:24
Speaker
They're hanging a lot of hope on that. like It's still a Jurassic World movie. yeah the end of the day At the end of the day, we're not gonna get major political commentary. Yeah, you somewhat restrict to them what you can and can't do, I guess. Daddy's gotta eat at the end of the day, and he's don make he's gonna make that money doing Jurassic World.
00:18:45
Speaker
Yeah. Um, and then the sequel trailers are picked up on that. Um, and I, and I did see, you know, I did, I did, uh, with obviously, uh, rebirth was, was in that, was in that, um, that list, but, um, I stepped through the rest. What else do we get?
00:19:03
Speaker
Well, I got mission and the numa the did the the mission the but the final Mission Impossible that that was shown. um How to Train Your Dragon. And I want to talk about that in a second. um And the Thunderbolts will be updated.
00:19:17
Speaker
and that thunderbolt still let's do him Let's do them one at a time. What'd you think of Mission Impossible? Mission Impossible is hard for me to get excited about because I'm not a Mission Impossible aficionado at all. yeah um i I will watch it. They're fun. They're fun. They're enjoyable. they're um that that they're complete you know They're complete nonsense, ah which I like, which I love, I can switch my brain off. um I see them very much as I saw the Bourne series or should we say the latter James Bourne films in the, do I have a vested interest? not Not particularly, but will I watch it because it's it's mindless fun? Yes, I will. um you know Any opportunity to watch, um
00:20:10
Speaker
ah ah our Tom Cruise try and kill himself in the most spectacular way. um I'm up for it. um The Thunderbolts. Hold on, hold on, hold on. You don't just to jump your trailers? No, dude, dude, I'm sorry. my island sorry what about yours What about your tape? Sorry, man. whats i should have I should have waited because it's like I didn't watch the trailer.
00:20:37
Speaker
but and this five and That's the only one I haven't watched because I I think in a similar vein It's like I'm not a mission impossible aficionado and every time I see those trailers I'm like I need I'm like four movies behind I think I don't I don't know how many there are but I'm just gonna say four like I haven't seen all of them So it's like oh the final ones coming out and I'm like, I think I've seen three of them I yeah have it on my watch list to watch the other 19 um But i I need to watch it, but I think it's cool good for good for him get that money a Cool like more move more big movies in the theaters. Thanks. I like I I'm a big fan of that anyways. Sorry go ahead next run.

Live-Action Film Anticipations

00:21:20
Speaker
I'm excited about it's um
00:21:22
Speaker
It's ah my my my interest in Marvel, you know, recent in recent months and and she was saying years, it's somewhat a somewhat dwindle. And I've got an awful lot of cash in that to do. Thunderbolts might be that movie that gets me back into it.
00:21:39
Speaker
in that I love the players. um i love i like i like I like the concept. I love the idea of it being a um an version of of of of, if you like, of the Suicide Squad. And the way that um that they're nowhere near as ah able. ah They don't have the ability of of the of the Avengers, but they're kind of being perceived as humanity's last hope when it comes down to the particular- That's fantastical. Yeah, exactly, exactly. um yeah So yeah, i'm I'm looking forward to it. It should be should be good fun. It should be really, really good fun. um And that may get me back, that may get me in the cinema again for a ah for a new Marvel film, ah which I haven't done for quite a while, as you know.
00:22:34
Speaker
What about yourself? I am very excited for this mill this film. yeah Cool. ah The jury, mainly because the jury is still out on whether ah Bucky the Winter Soldier is my spirit animal or just a dude crush that like I will watch any movie and have it be near my top ah the top of my marble Marvel food chain if Bucky is in it, or if he's a central character.
00:23:00
Speaker
and so He seems to kind of be like the lead or like the main the main powerful dude in this one So dude, yeah, I will see this very excited The I haven't read too much on and I don't know who the villain is but I'm excited to find out like that that trailer was spooky how he's just making people like Poof like turning them into shadows or whatever it was weird That was cool. I'm excited
00:23:29
Speaker
Very nice, very nice. um How to train your dragon. It looks... So this is the live, this is the live action version of the, um, of the original, of the original movie, uh, sorry, of the original animated movie. Um, I mean, frame for frame, it looks identical, looks absolutely identical. Um, is there a lot, and there is some, there is some criticism of the general,
00:24:02
Speaker
the general process of creating live action versions of existing Disney properties. But um how train a dragon. Sorry. Yes. All dream works. Um, that would help. Um, um, but the point being is I mean, Disney's been doing it up until now. And DreamWorks are kind of jumping in with How to Train Your Dragon, but I don't care. How to Train Your Dragon is still one of my favorite animated properties. Without a doubt, I love the story. It looks amazing, it looks beautiful.
00:24:51
Speaker
um And I am not going to criticize the, I'm not going to criticize it. um ah um i'm I'm looking forward to it. it's um it's it's It's a reason for me to go to the cinema. I will be going to the cinema for this. Nice. That's awesome. With with with my with with my with my daughter, because um that's that that is Abby's favorite animated
00:25:18
Speaker
animated franchise, Barnard. Barnard, that is the most favourite. So where are we going? For me, it's like I'm not sure how I feel about it. like i i like I really enjoy those movies. I think they're fantastically done. and like When I first heard the word about it, it's like, why why are they turning it around so quickly into making it live action? like i'm not like I don't want this to sound like I'm coming across like negatively. it's more like this is one of those instances where I just can't get I keep getting hung up on the like what is what was it like to be in the room where this was decided like what was the rash like what's the rationale behind it like it's gonna be great it's gonna make a shit ton of money like I'm gonna enjoy it it is fascinating to me that the trailer looks like dude oh it looks I don't wanna say the same but it's like it's almost seems shot for shot
00:26:13
Speaker
like it almost like i know it's a one's animated ones this but like the dragons aren't real clearly but it's like it looks so close to the original it's it's it's like i feel like they're doing a almost a shot for shot they're not gonna stray at all like some of the disney ones they'll be like we're gonna get rid of the music this one's like no we're gonna do This is where I kind of spiral. I'm like, is it because they're doing the new lands and like the universal studios and they want to have like walk around characters and they want it to be more real instead of cartoonish and like, and they know it's going to make money and like, and they want to do it faithfully. And like, there's, there's good reasons and also business reasons, but like, am I going to see they want, I don't know, probably not, but I, I am going to see it. Uh, I am excited for it. It's just very, I i keep getting in that like.
00:27:00
Speaker
Why, why? Not a negative why, it's more of just like, a how did this, how did they, how did this get done? That's good it's interesting, I'm curious. Are they gonna do all of them and they just could do this one? Will they stray at all or is it gonna be shot for shot? I don't know, it looks cool, looks nice, looks good. Yeah, I mean, it would be it would be great if they could, you know, if they could scatter in a little bit of, um a little bit of new stuff in there or a little bit, you know, make something a little bit more, but I mean, that the that the great thing about animation is that you can do anything with it. You know, it's kind of like, it's so fantastical that kind of it becomes almost impossible. It'll be good to, to to but it'd be good to maybe, and I don't know, sprinkle on something that is and a little bit different within the live action version, but, um
00:27:54
Speaker
i'm i Yeah, I'm up for it. I'm i'm i'm i'm totally up for it. um So I can' i really can't criticize it at all. yeah yeah And the last one I picked up on, there's a whole bunch of other stuff as well. There's F1 with Brad Pitt. that then There's another couple of of of trainers that that I kind of very much skip past.
00:28:16
Speaker
The last one was the live action, you know, in Stitch. And while they didn't show it was a trailer, it was kind of like um ah augmented reality gimmick that they did um with ah with with with with Stitch being running across the um football ground and um just making the um getting himself into trouble and causing chaos and That was basically the advertisement for for for the live-action new there with stitch a movie. That's um also coming out um In the summer see the whole thing seemed to be very much focused on the summer um Because obviously as we all know um box office
00:29:02
Speaker
the box office is not doing well at all. And so I guess all of the studios are betting large on the summer to kind of rescue their revenues from the first part of this year. um But yeah, no, all in all, it was um it nothing nothing, nothing blew my mind, but it was um there's a good lineup of films that I'm really interested in um and in ah in and watching.
00:29:31
Speaker
soda So to round that out, the stitch one, Lilo & Stitch is something I am. We will go see probably day one. But I think Lilo's dish is probably one of Madison's one of her top ones. And I think by proxy, that's made it one of mine. like yeah she She is like Lilo. If you've mixed like Lilo with Meg from Hercules, like that is that is like who she is. um
00:30:04
Speaker
umapp I'm cautiously apprehensive or cautiously optimistic. It's like yeah, it's one of those ones and I'm i'm curious to how they're gonna market it cuz I'm I'm almost wondering if they're not gonna do a full-blown trailer where like shows everybody like they're just like you like you know that you know who Stitch is you know the movie just Stitch is crazy go watch it and then they like to maybe prevent some of the backlash, because that's inevitably going to come from this film. Yeah. But i'm I'm excited to see it. I think it'll be interesting to see if this is needed. No, but do I and like similar to the Little Mermaid, which was my jam growing up, like cautiously optimistic when it came out. And it's like, I liked it. I like Little Mermaid. I liked it. Is it my Little Mermaid? Like, I will still be able to recite the cartoon version. Do I enjoy this one? Absolutely. It's fantastic, too. Hopefully, this is the same with Lilo and Stitch. It's like, is it?
00:30:58
Speaker
Carried the memories of the cartoon does no visit a faithful representation. Hopefully that'd be cool. If not, hopefully that's something you'll be neat Yeah, I did I did I did watch a couple other trailers that I'd love to Yeah, dude Um, one of them was the studio. I don't know if you saw that with, uh, Seth Rogen, where, uh, he stars as a, uh, like he's ahead of a movie studio and he's got a like.
00:31:32
Speaker
He's like, I'll just read the thing. It's like, in the studio, Rogan Stars is a newly appointed head of a movie studio, Continental Studios. Desperate for the approval of celebrities, he and his team of executives at Continental Studios must juggle corporate demands with creative ambitions as they try to keep movies alive and relevant. I think this is going to be interesting because obviously it's going to be like those kinds of comedies, but it's also, I think it's maybe hopefully going to poke at Hollywood and some of the current events in a fun way. I just thought oh ah thought it looked well-produced. It's got a crazy cast.
00:32:02
Speaker
ah Thought it looked interesting. I don't know if you saw the trailer for it, though. I didn't. I did not. Like I said, I skipped through the ones that I either didn't know or have no interest in. That sounds good. All right. The next one that I watched was not normally one that I would watch, but it looks interesting. I will not see it in theaters. I just won't, but I will watch it on streaming. And that was until dawn.
00:32:29
Speaker
which yeah my notes are it looks creepy as fuck and it looks like a bunch of different horror genres mixed together.

Horror and Thriller Excitement

00:32:38
Speaker
where it's like, oh, we go to the haunted place. It's like ah the trailer was like, oh, we're looking for my sister. It's a bunch of tea college kids or teenagers, whatever age they are. We're looking for my sister and she got lost. Oh, we go into this haunted house. And the next thing you know, like the trailer shows them all getting killed. That's like, oh, I guess that's spoiler. But then it's like, oh.
00:32:59
Speaker
they like rewinds time and they're all alive again and they have like 13 tries to like not get killed and otherwise I think they're just dead forever so it's like rewinding time they kill them again and it's like then I think they have to make it until dawn it's like oh this is a fun little trope of like hold the horror genre mixed with like you don't just die you get to come back we get to see a lot of Horror things but then like there's a new like it's kind of the movie 13 ghosts like that's one of my favorite like horror ish films It's like I just like the idea of this glass house and all these monsters in there and I don't know it's just turning Turning the kind of genre on it. to I twist it a little bit. I don't I think I don't look interesting. I will not see it in theaters Okay, that's very very cool. Very very good The final trailer that I saw is one that I am
00:33:52
Speaker
Ashamed to admit that I that I'm excited about i've I've asked for this reboot for a while, or I don't know we'd be whatever it is And that is the final destination bloodlines trailer ah no no da Yes, oh, oh yeah Sign I will I see it at the ears probably not If I do it'll be like matinee during the week just so I could be the only person in there laughing I love those movies. I haven't seen a modern one so they may go too far with it, but like the classics They're some of my favorites a whole generation of kids no longer drives behind log trucks, which is
00:34:34
Speaker
As a matter of fact, quite frequent out here in Tahoe, um every time I see one of them, they should really remake a Final Destination. And they should remake, then that gets me going on, they should remake Twisted Metal, the video game. But I'm excited for this. The trailer was that simple. It just like, it set up the same stupid, like, here's a death scene. It's like, here's all the goofy things, like, oh, what's it gonna be? Is it gonna be the the glass? Is it gonna be an explosion? Or like, what convoluted way of like,
00:35:04
Speaker
doing the deed is gonna do it. like and The whole trailer's just like one snippet of that and like, yes. It's boiled down to like what Final Destination is and what makes it good. And I am i am excited for this stupid franchise to come back. Excellent. I'm i'm and i'm very happy for you. ah it's not It's not my Wicked. I'm not gonna die on that hill and make everybody watch it like I do Wicked. but no
00:35:33
Speaker
Do you have any other news or do you want me to? I did. No, no, no, no, no, no. You news away, dude. that's that's all That's all I picked up this week. So i I made sure to, you know, I've been embarrassing the last couple of weeks of like not coming up with any news. So this week I just outdid myself. The one thing that i knew I knew existed, but I didn't like watch the trailer or anything about it. And I think it's actually starting this week plus or minus a week or month, I don't know. And that is the, now watch the trailer for it. It's the Stranger Things on Broadway, and the first shadow. I don't know if you've seen that whole thing yet. I haven't, I've seen it. I've seen the, um ah when I've spent some time in London in recent months, I've seen i've seen obviously at the West End that the the the advertising for the show, but but but but carry on.
00:36:29
Speaker
It looks kind of cool. it's like It looks like it's a ah ah Henry Creel, Vecna prequel kind of thing. And just the special effects look cool. I don't know, just like adapting that stuff to like stage, I think is very interesting. hopefully Hopefully they film it and they put it on.
00:36:48
Speaker
like a streaming service at some point on Netflix or whatever, like they did with like Hamilton. It's like for the people who can't see it, like they don't have that opportunity to go see stuff. Like, I don't know. It'd be cool if they filmed it at some point and made it available. That was wicked. That was with, sorry. City Expressions. That was great. That was great when Disney, Disney Plus did that.
00:37:10
Speaker
um It was right at the height of COVID, wasn't it? And they decided to yeah ah decided to release it on Disney cluster that we could all, because no one was going to the theater. um what i think that and I think that made it the cultural phenomenon that it was. It's like it gave access to everybody and then it just took over.
00:37:29
Speaker
Yeah, that was that was that was great. But now they go back to go back to Stranger Things. I would love to um one thing that you know, I would love to take the family to go and see that Stranger Things again is one of those one of those franchises where we come together as a family. And you know,
00:37:49
Speaker
Lucy and I enjoy the kind of of not ah the nostalgia side of thing. um And the girls kind of get get um get tied up in the the kind of the the friendship side of things of the kids and yeah and and and their development. And so we kind of come together as a family on that. So I'd love to go and see the stage show. It looks really cool.
00:38:12
Speaker
Speaking of Stranger Things, have you ever done a rewatch on it? Have you ever attempted a rewatch on it? No. so So Madison's never seen it. She's always seen the first episode. But then when a friend of ours was here a couple months ago, they wanted to get Madison into it to prep for the final season. And so we watched maybe the first two episodes.
00:38:35
Speaker
and i And by the end of it, I'm like, oh man, I don't know if I can do a full, like I love that show. I think it's fantastic. And I'm excited for the final season. and I don't know if I can do a rewatch of like all of that stuff over again. and Like there's just like an element of like, oh, that first season is very different.
00:38:53
Speaker
than where they are now. Like, it's just the whole tone has changed. And it's like, I don't know. should Maybe it's like, maybe it's just where I'm at personally. I'm like, I just cannot do, like, I got to the part, I got to the end of the second episode, like, I think where Barb disappears. And it's like, dude, I don't know i don't know if I can do a rewatch of this. We made us have to.
00:39:11
Speaker
not Luke Madison back in on this and be like, nah, we'll just, I'll just finish the final season and be down with it. But I don't know. I don't know if other people felt that way as well being like, ooh, I don't know if this is like a rewatchable bingeable as, as, as much as like stealth and crew or other things are. It's, yeah I, is it, is it, is it just heavy going? Is it, is it, is it, is it? is it um I think it's,
00:39:40
Speaker
it's so um compared to the compared to the newer season it is just slow like not that I have somewhere to be but it's like I think when I'm watching it I just feel the weight of everything else to come like not like a the darkness of it it's just like oh yeah there's so much that happens later on that like um man I don't know. I don't know if I just want to take the time to sit and like kind of slob through these for the first season and then I can definitely ramps up and gets more It's just a different. It's just a different show tonally in the end than it is in the beginning Okay, I don't know it's um I'm still processing what my thoughts are on that, but it's like I Quickly swiftly went I don't think I want to watch any more of these for a while um Well, it could be the way I fit. I mean it sounds similar to the way I thought about um
00:40:29
Speaker
Breaking Bad. I tried to rewatch that and I kind of gave up because that to your point, there's there's a lot lot to get through, a lot to process, a lot of development that in my brain, I'm kind of already there. I'm already, yeah you know, I already know what's happened and so therefore there's an awful lot of narrative is an awful lot of exposition and stuff that goes on that I kind of need to wait and get to experience that before you move on to the juicy stuff. So I get where you're at. I get where you're at, mate. It's no big deal. No big deal at all. Anything else? Cool.
00:41:18
Speaker
I did. There's a couple couple quick things. We're hot on the heels of us talking about the Disney stuff at the Disney parks. ah The summer of the force at Disneyland was announced. um i There's only one couple things I want to talk about in there relevant to last week.
00:41:35
Speaker
just talking about kind of the continued adaptation of Batuu and things like that. Summer of the Forest is like when they do like the Star Wars summer event things where they bring in like new overlays on rides, new food, new drinks, new merch.
00:41:49
Speaker
um Stupid popcorn buckets that I'm not gonna go down. I'm ah i'm not gonna start a tirade on why I think those popcorn buckets are dumb um But they they're also they're introducing like a new themed fireworks show in Batu They have been doing a night projection thing where they're projecting Star Wars stuff on the

Star Wars and Disney Theme Parks

00:42:06
Speaker
rocks. But the thing I think is interesting is Most interesting is they're gonna have a Luke Skywalker walk-around character ah Like it looks like in the black robes of R2-D2 like younger version like our Return of the Jedi looking version
00:42:20
Speaker
And so it's like, all we were talking about escaping that timeline and they're continue like the things they're continuing to do to kind of like move away from like, pool we're we're ah ride the skywwak right before Rise of Skywalker. more More kind of examples of breaking down that.
00:42:36
Speaker
Yeah, that they've already had Sabine and other people walking around but this seems like a ah pretty big heart kick in the other direction like now we're going back to oh Original trilogy style characters and so I think that's interesting Well, that's very cool. It's very cool Yeah, I mean, it so I'm still fascinated with or still curious as to how they're going to sustain it. And then I guess something like that is is is a good idea. I mean, it somewhat breaks the immersion um in my mind, but um I guess it um
00:43:13
Speaker
it turns it more into a theme park. you know it kind of that It turns it more into a spectacular for the fans, for the audience. It's interesting. A dip in the universe, like a dip in the universe, experiencing Star Wars in real life and not, I am in a place in time and I'm limited by that.
00:43:32
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, exactly, exactly. ah kind final not The final two things I have, quick ones, mainly that I'm excited about, i'm not I'm not trying to become a Star Wars news podcast, but um they did announce that Bad Batch book that comes out in August, ah Sanctuary, I think that looks, I'm very excited about that, I think that'll be cool.
00:43:51
Speaker
yeah It's like they're rebuilding that that island that refuge island thing that they were on so it's tech is still around um So it's gonna be cool. They'd be nice to have some more stories netter at time frame. It's kind of neat um And then they also announced a new manga book path of the lightsaber. Oh which is Set between the light the last Jedi and the rise of Skywalker. Oh Coming on 25 I did not so So it's coming out this year According to their articles. So ah take that for what it is. Yes. Well that that will be that will be a purchase because um I don't you know, I don't um I'm very much behind on the books. I'm very much behind on comics, but um Yeah, the manga simply from being from being manga that will be there will be definitely be a purchase.
00:44:45
Speaker
pictures are pretty, fewer words, I means i can read it quicker. so yeah And it looks exactly so me me like. but that is That's the news I have. That's my news. That's a lot. That's a heck of a lot. now that That's fantastic. what about um What about what you've been consuming this week? um If at all, i mean you've you've literally just got back from a whistle you know from ah from quite an extensive tour um of the um East Coast? East Coast, yeah, East Coast. Eastish, mid mid Midwest. I don't know why it's called that, but Midwest here. East. Midwest. Eastish. um And so have you got ah have you had an opportunity to check anything out?
00:45:28
Speaker
I have. ah not a Not a lot, not as much as I'd hoped, not as much as I'd promised, but I will for next week though. It was queued up today, but then I got stuck clean in the house. um But I did, so I did catch up on some of a lot of our friends' podcasts, including some excellent episodes of that geek pod in Star Wars Spelt Out with our buddy Andy Bell on him. I thought he did a great job.
00:45:50
Speaker
the and they were awesome. Thank you. So yeah, I wanted to wanted to give you the give you the old pat on the back and say, good job, dude. you You brought something to the table. Not that you don't normally, but good job. I liked it. I enjoyed those episodes. Thank you.
00:46:06
Speaker
I've also watched some things. ah So one thing, I also read an article recently before I watched. I was reading an article about somebody that was hired or promoted within Lucasfilm. Derek Hoffman is his name. I can't remember what his role is.
00:46:24
Speaker
because I didn't pay attention to the role. I was like, oh, he's got the same last name as me, and he works pretty high up at Lucasfilm. I wonder if I'm related. And then part of the article said he went to Indiana University. He graduated from Indiana University. went Oh, shit. Oh, holy shit. Am I actually related to this guy? um So when I was ah back in Indiana for all the family stuff, I was obnoxious to all of my extended family members being like, hey, do we?
00:46:52
Speaker
Does he make that family? Are we related to a Derek Hoffman by chance? Maybe around this age? Anybody know? I didn't get any conclusive answers. I don't think I am, but the hunt is still on for answers because that would be... Yeah, I don't believe in coincidences, man. You gotta hunt them. I don't believe in... Mmm. Mmm.
00:47:14
Speaker
do that Not looking for scoop not looking for scoops, but you know I'm looking For connections in some way. Yeah, yeah Yeah, I absolutely so there's that um I did watch some things. I watched two things ah One of them was a movie that I have had on my list for a while I don't remember why it was on my list there was somebody I knew who talked about it in connection to it, but then I watched it and went I don't know who who I I don't remember what the connection was at all. And that movie was called Flamin' Hot.

Streaming and Real-Life Stories

00:47:49
Speaker
I watched it on the airplane, and it is... It's not a documentary, but it's like the re the the story of the guy who came up with the Flamin' Hot Doritos flavor for Frito-Lay and like his kind of like backstory and how it came to be.
00:48:09
Speaker
it's's It's a silly premise, but it's and it's all it's just and it's a very kind of like silly Movie like it's got a lot of humor baked into it, but it was really like ah Like Hope core. I don't know if you're familiar with the term where it's like oh Hope core. It's like. Oh, it's all feel-good stuff like you watch on the internet. I'ma watch It's like a feel-good movie of like oh where I came from what my upbringing was my my like the nobody kind of feeling and like Supporting their people and having an idea and like it's just it's a fit of if you're into that kind of movie of like
00:48:46
Speaker
a non-literal take of like historical events, but then also like mixed with like a very funny character and just, I don't know, it was really good. Like I i really enjoyed, it was very funny. um Just the way they they showed like the PepsiCo CEO interacting with like a janitor in just the kind of humorous back and forth. And he's like, oh, that's not really what happened. It actually went this way. Then they'd show like the real, is I don't know, it's funny. ah Excellent.
00:49:15
Speaker
recommend it don't don't Pay $20 to rent it and be like that wasn't worth it. But if you have the opportunity to watch it, I thought it was pretty pretty good like Yeah, and the final thing I watched but we can save it if you want and that was the fourth episode of season 2 of severance ah Called Lowe's Hollow we can we can save that for after you talk about your stuff or and Let's save that. and ah No, let's talk about it now. Sorry. Let's talk about it now, man. i you watched it before You watched it before me.
00:49:53
Speaker
um i i You watched it before me, and um I think you sent me a gif, um basically, of what the heck is going on here. Why don't you tell our friends what the premise of episode four was, because um i i I am so confused.
00:50:24
Speaker
I mean, you might as well be asking me what's ah what the meaning of life is, but I will try my best. um So spoilers spoilers, I think, maybe, who knows, because up is down and down is up. ah The fourth episode, Woes Hollow.
00:50:40
Speaker
ah immediately start like they're they're all outside they're all aside in the snow and what appears to be borderline Lake Tahoe but they're all separate and then they meet up and it's like a like a field trip um From what they've said. So they all find each other. it's It looks like it's the lake. It's like a corporate bonding. A team bonding. Yeah, like an off-site. Like an off-site. But it looks like it's that same lake that's in like all the the the Egan photo paintings where he's standing on the cliff and like looking out over this magnificent...
00:51:18
Speaker
ah Landscape, but it's all frozen over and they find each other and then like they they find um oh My gosh, what's his name the their manager? They find him and he's like welcome to the off-site. Welcome to the retreat. You get to have three dot two or three days ah Doing some team bonding and like this weird and like doing walking around nature doing these things are like it It kind of still has those religious vibes of like, this is where the main Egan guy who founded the company, he had a twin brother, but he did the stuff and then like he died and turned into like the nature ground. They're like a bleeding tree or something weird and all this weird kind of like metaphorical
00:52:06
Speaker
religious undertone storylines. um And oh my gosh, I need I should have written down their names. Like the the older gentleman who's going after Bert. He's know you can kind of you can kind of see that he's like in a bad mood. Like there's something he's not feeling it and he's very critical of Heli. There's Heli, Dylan, ah Devin. didoooooo do Irving, Irving is. Irving's very like, um kind of confrontational with Heli, being like, what is it? Like, and it feels weird. It feels like he's like in the wrong. It's like, why is he being such a jerk? Like he doesn't believe her like when she was out among, with the when she went back to her Audi's place, he's like, why why are you lying? Yada, yada, yada. And he's just kind of being a big jerk. And so then like,
00:53:01
Speaker
and he goes off and I thought he died. I thought he died because he like wandered off into the woods in the middle of the night and like fell asleep. I'm pretty sure close to that like dead seal thing, ah that dead frozen seal. And then he had like a dream where Bert was there and then like blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, whatever, whatever. Mark hooks up with Heliar in the tent, but then the next morning happens and they all come back and like Irving's like,
00:53:28
Speaker
Helly are it's not it's not her any it's actually her Audi who's here and he tries to drown her and it's like What the what the hell is going on? and then it was her Audi and then the main the manager guy like stopped it and like It seems like Irving just got fired Yeah, which in theory would kill Irving's any I don't think he's dead. I think at some point in time I He's going to get to resurface in some way and come back in some way. But it's like this episode was so out of left field, no explanation, like really kind of the thing that I don't like at times where it's like, ha ha ha, no context. Here's the cliffhanger. You got to wait another week, idiot.
00:54:15
Speaker
ah Cause it gave us nothing. Like it felt weird, especially coming from like Mark leaving off with the ah the the reintegration surgery that he was at the end of season or episode three. Like, and then going into this and then we were like hooking up with Heli, like having the flashback, like the flippy floppies with his wife. yeah Like, I'm like, dude, this is...
00:54:41
Speaker
This is it's very lost like the TV show. Like where's my smoke monster? wares Where's where's the the countdown timer? There's no there's no um There's no baseline at the moment. Do you understand what I mean by that? There's there's no, there's no safe retreat. um now There's no, that there's no, there's no, um, it's, it's, they go looking, you know, they go looking for, um, they go looking for, um, what's the name? Basically his wife. Um,
00:55:21
Speaker
Oh, what's your name? What is your name? Miss... Miss... Yeah, I'm trying to find it.
00:55:30
Speaker
that' trying and that and they They're trying to go for they' trying to find his wife and in previous weeks and they find their way to the... Miss Casey. team Miss Casey, thank you. And Milchik. Milchik is the manager's name. There he is.
00:55:48
Speaker
um And not and that didn't that didn't have a baseline either. It kind of didn't didn't conclude anything. and and And then you've got the, like I said, the know but you said that the that the team building exercise this week, which turned chaotic, and there's no there' no baseline. It's kind of like, where are we going? hi Because I don't know where we're going. Sean, help me. That's all I kept thinking of was Sean, help me, because I'm so confused.
00:56:20
Speaker
it's It was one of those episodes where you watch it and you're like, wait, did I, am I not actually caught up to date? Am I missing? Did I miss the previous episode? It's like, or were there 10 episodes and they're like, we can only pay for nine. It's like, all right, we'll get rid of episode four and move five to four.
00:56:38
Speaker
and yeah but the But then I know in like six weeks when all the whole thing is over, it's gonna be like, oh, it all makes sense. Like this week, for sure I'm hopeful um hopeful and optimistic that this week is gives us some tie up from three and four and it happens in five and there's more like,
00:56:57
Speaker
He goes back to being an Audi again, because like the the first two episodes were that way. nice I remember last week saying, or two weeks ago saying, it's like, oh, I'm glad I skipped the first week and watched one and two together. Together. because Because I would have been like, what the hell is happening?
00:57:12
Speaker
Yeah, but they keep doing this kind of like any episode outie episode any episode outie episode and kind of like This was like the weird anyone was like well. We didn't get the follow-up from three Where he's blinding himself and then gets the crazy? Reintegration surgery now we're like My question is like, were they really outside? Is that real? Is that a real place? Or is it an underground floor? Is it fake? Are they in a virtual? It's all part of that. What is Mark's purpose? What is real, any versus out? Is this town even real or is it like Castle Rock? Yeah. Kind of like Stephen Kinney kind of like, ooh.
00:58:00
Speaker
Because you don't really see them in public places very often. Like, are they all actually it? Is there truly an innie versus outie situation? Or are they all within the confines of like Truman Show level, ah Egan, whatever, whatever? ive i I've always thought, is there another is there another level?
00:58:21
Speaker
So it's similar to, similar to um I guess, similar to Inception. Inception? Yeah. Yeah. So I've always wondered, you know, we've we've got these two levels, which is Ini and Audi. So the Ini it both know of each other's existence, but never the twench of me. Is there another level as well? Is there another level below or above the Audi and the Eni that we don't know about, that that that we're going to be surprised about, which which serves a different purpose? I've never considered that, but that's wild. Who knows? Well, the reason why I think that is that um
00:59:05
Speaker
You'd think that, you'd think that when you're in the real world, in the normal world, which let's, let's for the sake of argument, let's call that the, the Aussie world, it still, there seems to be some, it's still quite surreal. It's still, it is still, there it still doesn't feel particularly real. Have you seen the movie, have you seen the movie Vanilla Sky with Tom Cruise? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It reminds me of that where it's like,
00:59:34
Speaker
We're only in certain locations, and it always seems very like ah very much like a painting, even when he's in the outie world. Yeah. Yeah, so so that's that's the only reason why I thought maybe there's a level above the outie world that is what you and I would say in normal life, you know that there is things the true, the the real world. Because when you consider,
01:00:01
Speaker
um
01:00:04

Heli's family, Heli's family, and the way that they conduct, and and and her father, and the way that they conduct themselves in the real world, it seems to be, again, quite quite strange, quite surreal, that there's something, it it doesn't seem normal. It doesn't seem normal one bit. um So anyway. I like, i like dick you have me very excited. You have made me very excited.
01:00:34
Speaker
That cool if they were to if they were to inch like I hadn't thought about that before I've they've had that like vibe of like it's the Audi world is weird, but if it's what you're saying like oh The Audi world is still there does any level one, and but there's a real world outside of that. It's like you I Why I like I like that a lot. Thank you. Yes Spicy um it would It would turn things up a little bit, right? It would change an awful lot. Oh, yeah. It's like I i will say, i'd mentioned I've meant to mention this a previous week. i'm like i do I do remember hearing, I feel like I remember hearing that they have ah an ending plans. Like they they know how they want us to go, I'm pretty sure.
01:01:22
Speaker
And so, but I do feel like we're at the point where we, we're not at the peak and we're not getting answers yet. We're still like, it's about to, it's going to get crazier before it gets better. um like you know like so Do we know how many seasons it's going to run full? I thought it was three, but I could be making this all up in my head. I could have dreamed up with this. Okay. Okay. Well, let's not and don't worry about it. Anything else you've watched, mate?

New TV Series Exploration

01:01:49
Speaker
Um, no, but I...
01:01:54
Speaker
I think I think I was I did start three body problem, but I didn't get the first episode finished It's like it's an hour long. It was crazy long. I'm gonna get this done, but I will have Episodes to talk about for next week. Even though I know I have finished Yeah, so actually I actually finished three body problem. It's one of those smash through it. It's one of the yeah It's one of those. It's one of those it
01:02:26
Speaker
It's very clever. Very clever. I like it. um And I will not talk about it until you've seen it because um i think it's I think it deserves a discussion.
01:02:43
Speaker
Uh, whether we get around to it next week or not is, is neither here nor there. We'll talk a little bit about that in a second. Uh, we've got some plans for next week folks. Um, but, um, I did, ah I did, I did burn all the way through it. That's the the benefit of having so much time off at the moment is that, um, I'm able to kind of pick a, pick a franchise, burn through it as quickly as possible.
01:03:09
Speaker
I'm about to say, if if we don't if we don't get more answers from Severance, if like if see if this week's episode of Severance is the same as this week's past weeks, yeah then I will definitely be burning through a lot of ah three-body problem, because I want something, I need something to talk about. I mean, I know we have special plans for next week, but even if it's not next week, I want to get through a three-body problems so we can chat about what's still fresh in your mind. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, um On my side, i'll I'll talk about what I've what I've been watching first. um So I did finish watching three body problem. um It's good. it's It's it's it's it's very, very good. The the latter, the latter episodes left me
01:03:57
Speaker
left me wanting to talk to you about it and i'll i've written it i've written the questions down so i don't forget um ah so so so i will i will put a pin in that as i said and we'll talk about that later still watching severance as you know um got black sales on one yeah um So let's say on the, it is actually, on on on i I've got it on Blu-ray, so that's that's still in the u still in the Xbox at the moment, so I'm gradually getting through black sales. ah Deadwood, and I need to catch up, as you know, on June
01:04:36
Speaker
um so we can talk a little bit about how we felt about June ah prophecy. um What I have done is because I've spent um spending a lot of time at the moment at home with Lucy is we've chosen our we finally got around to our allli our our TV. We've chosen we've chosen our our TV series and we're we're burning through Yellowstone. all right So I've started season one. ah nervous I've never seen any of them. Not only the five seasons of Yellowstone as they are, but also the spin-offs with Harrison Ford and others. um At the moment weve we've just finished season one.
01:05:31
Speaker
um Hence, you know, ah we really we really are um ah getting through an awful lot of content at the moment. ah Just finished season one. um I see an awful lot of I see a lot of um reasons why people find them the show compelling. um But I'm not quite as in at the moment as perhaps I should be. Does that make sense? Yes, i'm not it does. I'm not i'm not i'm um not as um vested at the moment as I i thought I would be. um So therefore I'm reaching the conclusion that, you know, get through season one, get through season two, maybe
01:06:26
Speaker
I'm sure that the the the whole thing will grow on me. It's good. It's very, very good. It's i beautifully active. The story is is great. um i mean
01:06:40
Speaker
your heroes are definitely anti-heroes. They're not particularly nice people, um the Duttons. um So ah yeah, that's that's kind of ah's kind of where we we've um where we've started our are watching.
01:06:59
Speaker
um reading Reading, so um when i have it when we have some quiet diamond, The TV is very much switched off for reading. i'm I'm still going through some graphic novels that I bought over Christmas. At the moment, i'm I'm burning through a few of the firefly the modern Firefly um um books,
01:07:27
Speaker
of which the latest one Um, Ty calls, uh, the sting, um, written by Delilah. Is it, and um, yeah, she's a, she's a Star Wars, Star Wars writer. Um, so, uh, yeah, no, so that was, that was, that was good to find out. And it's a, it's it's a great little, but great little read as well. Um,
01:08:00
Speaker
playing Mad Max and Hogwarts legacy a little bit on the Steam Deck still. But um listening, I've been catching up on, I've pretty much stayed abreast or caught up with all of our, let's say our buddies um podcast. So, you know, Canterbury Dispatch, Star Wars spelled out the Sith list.
01:08:25
Speaker
ah Blue harvest etc etc e etc if I've missed anyone out my apologies I've i but I have caught up on your Bob. So I've caught up on little all of our buddies Podcasts, which has given me the opportunity to kind of ah catch up on an awful lot of the more should we say ah The more, um perificpher more that the yeah, yeah. the but The more, the more, um but I don't want to say professional because, and you know, all of our friends are professional. um But the more, but the more um high production value. Thank you. um ah Podcasts that are out there. One of them is the, is Filmumentaries. So Filmumentaries is a podcast um um ah run by by a guy called Jayden Benning.
01:09:14
Speaker
um And he really digs deep into the the the behind the scenes of an awful lot of films and pop culture and um the kind of the kind of stuff that you and I you and i like. yeah And um his latest His latest or one of his latest odds, feature an interview with Gus Lopez, who is one of the guys who is one of the guys that is investing in this new Saudi Museum. He's one of yeah he's one of the that that that that that the guys that have
01:09:53
Speaker
that are lucky enough and and have the disposable income to have some of the most amazing collections of Star Wars memorabilia um and is a contributor or will be a contributor to the Sargi Museum. I've talked a little bit about it before with the different pod,
01:10:11
Speaker
um um but Jamie had the opportunity to interview him and get a really candid kind of view on where they are in terms of the Kickstarter, but also the the the you know where they are in terms of organizing and that this did this thing. They're talking to um the local um government institutions of of many, many different many, many different um um cities across across the US to establish where the where that what's the best place to kind of have this we will build this museum because it's going to require one heck of an investment. um ah It's interesting. it's interesting it's um Again, it's it's something that interests me um because I love the collecting side of things, especially when it comes down to
01:11:09
Speaker
props and collectibles. um But also, um i'm I'm interested in the behind the scenes kind of um orchestration of something as as epic or as grand as this. So that that that was good. That was really, really good. and That's kind of That's kind of where I've been the last week on on on most on most things. Did they have any, did they have any breaking news or anything on like any developments, I guess, on the cyber museum? No, and no not not really. They're kind of the still the kind of still where they are at the moment, um which is which is, it's it's kind of, they're still they' still in this in this phase of- Sussing it out. Sussing it out. They know what they want.
01:12:00
Speaker
um But they're trying to work out how they kind of execute. um They're spending an awful lot of time at the moment and investing in people. So they're kind of like um using an awful lot of the the investment that they're putting together to um um spend on. developers, on planners, on lawyers, um on on on folks that can that can help them realize their vision. So um there's that there's that side. But it's a good, I do recommend it. I would say that if you enjoy going rogue,
01:12:35
Speaker
then i would um I would most definitely um recommend the Filmmaker's podcast. I mean, aside from that, they've got he's got a whole how collection of of of of really, really good interviews with the likes of um you Phil Tippett and um of ah other filmmaking alumni that we know and love.
01:13:04
Speaker
um again i Interesting people who have interesting thing interesting things to say that were... Yeah, no up absolutely. fancy absolutely and um But yeah he doesn't restrict himself to Star Wars. He looks other media as well. it it's it's It's really good stuff. I've got to know him um because he he ran one of the um one of the panels at Celebration, London.
01:13:31
Speaker
he was um He was fortunate enough to be invited by ILM to interview their that that team, you know you know john a lot an awful lot of folk that work for John Knoll on the um um special effects for Randall. So so ah Katherine Nain, shout out to Katherine. She dragged me along to that that particular,
01:13:56
Speaker
ah particular um ah Session and it was really really good really really good and really really interesting and the guys interview technique is very very good as well So um yeah, if you fancy something a little bit different If you're interested in buying the scenes, I do recommend the film entries podcast. I will add that to my list And that's kind of it for me this week, buddy. We knew it was going to be ah ah we knew it was going to be a um a quiet week for news. We knew it was going to be... ah it we are We are in this situation at the moment where
01:14:37
Speaker
both content and news is somewhat ah somewhat um quiet. So um to give to give up to give our friends a heads up, we're gonna try and, chew we we're gonna spice it up a little bit next week.

Social Media and Future Plans

01:14:51
Speaker
So um watch this space for next week because ah we are looking to do something a little bit different um just because it is quiet, but we still wanna,
01:15:06
Speaker

And we've got a couple of guests on next week that's gonna who are going to help us um just have a little bit of fun. um And it you may or may not be the best or indeed the worst thing that ah worst idea that we've ever had. But we're hoping it's certainly going to be a lot of fun. um ah So what's the space for next week? Sean, anything else you want to add, please?
01:15:41
Speaker
Uh, the only thing I have is that Pablo Hidalgo liked one of my blue sky posts. And so I just felt right brag about that for about four seconds and be like, feel pretty special. Feel pretty witnessed right now. So, uh, no signatures, please.
01:15:58
Speaker
You've been saying, you've been saying, that's wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. Other than that, i just I'm looking forward to next week. I'm excited. i'm Not that I'm not always excited, but I'm i'm excited to see how this goes. It's gonna be fun.
01:16:14
Speaker
Well if it turns out, though wait at the end of a day let i it's good we're in that we we're at we're in the we're in a drought. We're in a drought at the moment, we saw it coming, we've been talking wax lyrical about what happens, what is the aftermath of the strike.
01:16:32
Speaker
um What is the aftermath of all of these um ah scheduling ah changes that have happened with the studios and we are there at the moment i feel very much that we are there and so.
01:16:47
Speaker
we need to We need to, like everyone else, we need to diversify. We need to change it up a little bit to to to to keep it fresh. And um so we're going to have a little bit of fun next week, which hopefully, if it works, we can we can keep going. We'll try it again. Or if not, try something different. We shall see.

01:18:29
Speaker
Or if you have a two-person sauna and you know what I'm talking about and you have one tell me if it's worth it because I'm kind of in fact and Not infatuated with it. I'm cut. It's currently my hyper fixation. So yeah, um I Shouldn't if I should sir put that earlier and not at the end um Yeah, thanks everybody. Appreciate it. May the force be with you
