They've done Outer Wilds, which I think is one of their most standout ones. But they also did my last episode, ah Stray. That's one of theirs. They did Solar Ash. That was one of yours. um Pathless and a billion other things they've done what remains of either either Finch journey 12 minutes. love donut county um as he was playing that he said he was tired of making wholesome games he wanted to make something a little bit more grimy um and he started working on an fps game and this is that fps game um he wanted to make it a little bit different He was really heavily inspired by speedrunning, which I think is always a good inspiration place to like take from. So there's like a so light deck building aspect in this. ah But you get these little cards at a level and you're able to right click, burn that card for an ability. So you can use up some of the ammunition for this weapon. If you use all of it, you burn that card. But if you have even one bullet left,

You can right click to burn the card and then you get a bonus out of it. For like the s so for like the the assault rifle, you lob a ah you lava grenade that lets you do a jump. For the pistol, you just get a double jump that helps you get back into movement. There's all sorts of stuff. I think the the shotgun gives you like a laser. It's really cool.

I love the movement. I love there's a bunch of like really short levels that are incredibly replayable. They've got all sorts of like little extra stuff you can do. And also, like I said, speed running means that you're going fast. It's all about time. I love the time aspect of this. I need to I have a weapon already, but I want all three of these I can only hold a max of three so I need to shoot this enemy just right so that I can grab all three of these so I can shoot those two enemies and have one left over so I can jump over this gap instead of going the long way around just thinking like things like that over and over and over and it's so fast and so quick and so easy to just pick up play a couple levels figure out like alright cool I've got 30 minutes that I can game. Not a lot of time. I'm finding my little bit that I can take. Let's let's do this and figure it out. And just going through piecing together this one like puzzle and being like, all right, sick. I got that. That took me like seven minutes to get everything down. I did a bunch of runs at 12, 12 to 30 seconds. I think my longest run was like a minute long. Like the levels are incredibly concise, but they have so much chunks in them.

And then after you get like a gold rank, you unlock like, OK, cool. Now you can see your player trail and you can see hints. So like if you find this little like hand that's around the the map, if you touch that, it'll show you the path. That's like a good shortcut to cut you a pretty decent chunk of time. um And sometimes they're a little hard to even find the hint. I played through one level. um It's the last level on the first chunk. I played through it like five times before I even noticed the hint like up out of the corner of my eye. I was like, oh, shoot, that's where I need to be heading. That's where I can save like 10 seconds off my time. um Because I was I kept hitting 47. I needed 37.

like that's really what it comes down to because like when you're running fast you hit your shots you jump just right and you get a time of like sub 10 it's so sick like it feels so good and like there were times when I was playing this and streaming on discord to to my girlfriend there were times when I like I did a thing where like Jump, shoot a person mid-air, land, turn, do a jump, skip a whole section, land a grenade to blow through a wall, land another jump, hit a different grenade to kill some enemies, and then slide up this ramp. I've seen videos of it in the the trailer. It's on this game is on Game Pass, by the way. That's where I'm playing it. Although like that ah I know a lot of people are boycotting Activision because of the video game strike. This game is not included in the video game strike. I totally hear you. I understand that things are weird right now with AI and stuff like that. This has none of that. This is all made by people for people.

So if I want a head to find a path, I might need like, oh, I can have this gun and this gun. But if I pick up the third gun, it will knock one of those out. So I need to make sure that I'm like switching right before I pick up. because I don't want to knock out the one that's in the back that's the wrong one for me to get through this area to go fast. I have to restart the whole level because i i I just timed it improperly because I jumped a little too early. I didn't get up on the ledge and I don't have a card to replace that one. So like, yeah, that's that's a restart. But the research real fast. You just hit. I've been playing on keyboard and mouse. It's really good on keyboard and mouse. Controller was a little too touchy for me personally. yeah that i I could probably dial in the sensitivity, but it was like it was crazy. ah So I found keyboard and mouse to be really easy for me. Your mileage may vary. But ah in keyboard and mouse, you hit F in space and you're running again. ah like It's just tap, tap, go. Tap, tap, go. Tap, tap, go.

So if you are just like, I want to like keep playing this level because it's got like this really fun corner, this really cool synergy or like this really fun move where like I jump, do a 360, kill this guy and then land on a water path to dash away. I like doing that.

Like there's a little bit of switching, a lot of like, OK, I want the right thing at the right time. These two work together for this specific thing. I can use this to partner with this to do that. And then, oh, I use this too early. So I need to start back over or ah Oh, if I do this this way, I can like skip this section and then have an extra jump, which is huge later on. So I like I cut this yellow pistol and use my grenade launcher, which is fine. I didn't really need that. I can blow up these guys to get them out of the way real fast. It's of having to take time to shoot everyone. Then take this jump to double jump over this gap so I can get to this other weapon and just wipe out the rest of the map and just done. Easy peasy. ah It's.
