Drug Discussions and Episode Updates
00:00:15
Speaker
I'm going to say drugs. I'm going to say so many drugs. I'm going to say all the drugs. If you want to hear me talk about every drug you've ever heard of, then probably don't listen to this episode. and that Maybe listen to the updated version of this episode in like a couple a couple of months, because like really, it's just like weed, meth and coke. But like, I'm going to be talking about those things. so
00:00:37
Speaker
quite bit. No way! There's not like the other ones like psilocybin or heroin or MDMA fentanyl ketamine. Those aren't in the in the thing quite yet. but me update one It's an early access
Introduction to 'Schedule 1' Game
00:00:54
Speaker
game. We're talking about Schedule 1.
00:00:56
Speaker
um Schedule 1 really broken into the mainstream. Really, really taken off to a point that a lot of people are like, whoa, what? is going on with this rick and morty looking ass game myself included if i may real quick yeah when i saw well first off what you named yourself when you entered this recording session drugs is way too good i think is what i put yeah something along those lines just having seen drugs i kind of already put it together but also having seen your recent steam history yeah
00:01:33
Speaker
i i knew you were gonna talk about this and yeah so what is drug is way too fun so okay drug drunk is way too fun that's what my name is today today hello yes my name is drug is way too fun hello you're listening to drug is way too fun but okay hold on and friends i gotta So when I look at schedule one on the steam early access, don't know you can hear this right now.
Humorous Desk Incident
00:02:02
Speaker
Um, I'm, I'm raising up my desk so I can stand and yell. Cause I got everything just fell off my desk.
00:02:10
Speaker
Oh no. Not everything. This is what drugs will do to you. this is what firears to you You gotta to get, you gotta get up. You gotta stand. you gotta, you gotta get up and stand up. And this is your desk on drugs.
00:02:24
Speaker
God, dude, i like I get it. i get it looks It looks ugly. It doesn't look good. it It looks like part of it, though. Doggy do do garbage feast. God, no, but like, it's great. it's It's that's part of it. Like that is.
00:02:39
Speaker
so that is an aspect of it. That's not just a like artistic license. I'm a programmer, but not an artist kind of thing. I feel like it is that I'm a programmer, not an artist thing. But like they lean into that in a way that like it really makes it work.
00:02:53
Speaker
OK. God, there's so much I want to talk to about and talk about with this game. I'm probably going talk for like a while and I might and might be like bouncing around or moving around. If I get a little quiet in this one, sorry, if I get a little off mic, I'm not trying to. But like this game gets me amped.
Intense Gaming Engagement
00:03:10
Speaker
to put this into context, my girlfriend, my girlfriend bought me this video. My fiance, your enabler, if you will, wife bought me this game.
00:03:22
Speaker
My wife! boly this vin Veins popping in my forehead, in clenched, not daring to let a Borat escape from my throat. Um...
00:03:38
Speaker
God, she bought me this game on April 4th. Today, today, dating this episode like hell, today is April 8th.
00:03:49
Speaker
Yeah. It has been four days. I did not play this the first day she bought it for me because she got it for me at night and I was EP and ready for bed. So in three days, I have put in 38.5 hours into this game.
00:04:06
Speaker
hours into this game Out of 72 hours, I have spent 38.5 of that playing this game. I have slept. Are you sure? and That's it.
00:04:21
Speaker
I took a shower. so that's pretty good. don't mean to call you out, but you did say shower singular over the course of the last three days. So that that's evocative.
00:04:32
Speaker
um I shower every other day. like That's pretty normal. Okay, still. i'm on my I'm on my schedule. Like, I'm not i'm not off schedule. i'm I'm doing good. Okay, but I believe you're a person on drugs. Dude, dude, dude. Drugs. Drugs.
00:04:47
Speaker
Game loop. Movements. There's movement tech in this drug simulation game. This game has so much character. Like, that is my... I always try and lead off with... I had to...
00:05:00
Speaker
Before we started this episode, I told James, I have to like write all this out because I'm going to get freaking wild. I'm going to go crazy if I don't have some form of structure. And I always try and lead off with like a couple of key points of interest.
00:05:13
Speaker
God, it's like this. One of it is just this game has so much character. This game has so much depth in its character. And I find that so... Just interesting. This is definitely kind of like our last game we talked about.
00:05:29
Speaker
This game kind of shows that it is a project of passion. This game really shows that the person who made this thought about all sorts of different layers and levels down up and beneath the the the surface level of like, I make game, I make drug, i sell drug, that game.
00:05:47
Speaker
that That really is the game. You make the drugs, you sell the drugs. That's... That's the game. But there's always something to do. There's never like there is never downtime. There's never a dull moment. There is always something for you to do.
00:06:03
Speaker
And the task that is there for you to do is almost always enjoyable for me. I've never had a moment where I'm like, I don't want to do that right now. And if there is ever a moment of I don't want to do that right now, it's more so I don't want to do that yet.
00:06:18
Speaker
I need to do these three things first before I can even think about doing that.
Game Storyline and Expansion
00:06:23
Speaker
um but You start out as a person living out of a little RV on your uncle's ah plot.
00:06:33
Speaker
um You're growing weed in your RV and you go to town, you sell some, your uncle tells you to meet up with his cronies. The cop stops you is like, Hey, I know you're kind. ah We don't take kindly to that.
00:06:46
Speaker
We're like, OK, whatever, whatever. We go we go sell our our stuff. We go grab the pickup for my uncle. We go give it to him. We're like, Uncle Nelson, you got to be careful.
00:06:57
Speaker
He's like, you know what? I will be. And then we go into our RV and then we are woken up later that night and the police are raiding our house. Uncle Nelson has been busted and we haul ass out of there.
00:07:12
Speaker
um And we're in a new town and we're starting out fresh. We have no nothing. We got an RV and a couple of like grow pots and we're going to start growing weed and set up in a new town. And then our RV is blown up and we have to start like fresh, fresh with nothing at all.
00:07:32
Speaker
um And we rent a motel for 75 bucks for a week and then never get asked about it again because we promptly because... start selling drugs to the owner of the motel.
00:07:44
Speaker
And they they never ask us about rent again. see. Yeah, they're like, hey. You can stay. um sure And then the the expansion on it is just so linear and so, like...
00:07:58
Speaker
So natural. It's linear in a way that makes sense and natural in a way that just like it just eventually you end up and you're like, I have a whole trap house. I've got like an entire like I'm i'm making meth and weed out of the bedroom of this house.
00:08:16
Speaker
I have two chemists who are on site cooking the meth. I help package it. I've got a grower who's maintaining all these plants. I make sure that that gets mixed in with my special mix ins and the mix ins is where it gets really
Meth Manufacturing in Game
00:08:30
Speaker
funny and very interesting.
00:08:31
Speaker
But like. You go from, gotta grow every single plant. I gotta pick every leaf. I gotta do every single little thing. And this game doesn't really spare any of the details in doing any of the drug tasks.
00:08:45
Speaker
Like, I have to to make methamphetamine. I have to go and um go get pseudo from a supplier so i can get some pseudo fed um i have to go grab acid and i need a uh i need to grab an acid and then there is a uh phosphorus that i mix together and then i put that over a heat that sits for about eight hours then after the heat dies down i'll take that out the liquid meth is then ready to go into the oven to dry it. So I use a lab oven and to dry it. I open that up. I'll pour the liquid meth into that. I close it shut and I start the timer on that.
00:09:21
Speaker
That needs to dry for approximately seven hours. And while that's happening, I'm going to start the next master meth and then I can continue that cycle until I get the meth out of the thing and i shatter it with the hammer. So I get like the shatter and then I can go and then mix that with some good old mix ins.
00:09:38
Speaker
And then from there I can set a price, give it to a dealer, have them run it out And usually I'll press mine into bricks now because that's a really good way to condense this all down into like,
00:09:51
Speaker
that's that's this game that's literally what i've been doing for the past gotta say internet recipes have come a long way since the last time i've looked one up that's exhaustive game now um i have to wonder too because it this sounds very and forgive me for saying this i know it's reductive this sounds very breaking bad like oh yeah I have to wonder if they did the same thing that that show did where it's like a remarkably accurate portrayal of that love, like how to make that with the exception of a step or two that they like for ethical reasons do not show because that is that breaks it down. They don't tell you what kind of acid. They don't tell you what phosphorus. They say pseudo. It's not pseudo-fed. It's just pseudo. yeah they They give you a a couple layers of abstraction yeah um to make it to where it's not just direct...
00:10:46
Speaker
recipe on how to make methamphetamine but like the process is mostly there and you're just cooking it and you're going I did name a strain Jesse Pinkman and I named a strain Walter White the Jesse Pinkman strain is pink and it is just meth mixed with chili because when Jesse starts he's like yeah chili powder is my like secret ingredient exactly and Walter's like you're a fucking idiot he's like youve taught building
00:11:18
Speaker
um But yeah, I thought that was a funny little Easter egg.
Humorous Drug Strain Names
00:11:22
Speaker
And yeah, no So also the, the Walter White strain makes you go bald, which I thought was kind of funny. ah What do you mean it makes you go bald? That's, that's another part.
00:11:33
Speaker
um So there are side effects, which are very fun. um So you can do mix-ins. i've made i mentioned I've mentioned the mix-ins a couple of times. So you go to the gas station, and at the gas station, they'll sell you, like, donuts and chilies and other things to mix your drugs with.
00:11:50
Speaker
um Cough syrup, whatever yeah whatever. Whatever sparks your fancy. Adderall, horse semen. You know, whatever. Just, like, normal things. Hey, hey, hey. Viagra. Hey, what was that last one? Paracetamol?
00:12:04
Speaker
Um, but batteries sometimes I actually like the batteries when it makes people's eyes glow you can see in the dark. Um, but you, you can use a mixing machine to mix together, ah different ingredients with your weed. I, I use donuts a lot at the very beginning. I was mixing granddaddy perp with donuts and I was calling that purple stuffy cause it made you full.
00:12:28
Speaker
Um, I had one that was, uh, It was sour diesel and... Okay, so sour diesel and donuts got you cake farts.
00:12:40
Speaker
And then you mix cake farts with... um Chili's and you got ah pink shart. Or no, strawberry shart was the name of it.
00:12:51
Speaker
That was a good one. Strawberry shart did numbers. That strawberry shart was like all over the west side for like a while. um None of these words are in the Bible. Go meditate. Strawberry shart did numbers? Nonsense words spoken by maniacs.
00:13:11
Speaker
That's what this game has done to me though. And it has... the The crazy thing is I'm doing all this. I'm growing my weed. I'm mixing it with the things. I'm distributing it to dealers. I'm packaging it appropriately into jars and then into bricks and making sure that everything runs.
00:13:25
Speaker
I'm automating and hiring people. I'm organizing those people. to run different things. I'm buying businesses because I need a launder because I have a weekly deposit limit as does everyone on their ATM. You can only deposit so much money before it's suspicious.
00:13:39
Speaker
So I got a launder now. I can only deposit 10K a week. Once you get past that point, you really have to figure out how to get that money into the bank account because you got to keep growing your business. You've got more customers asking for weed and and meth and Coke. And now you got it. You got to just keep up.
00:13:55
Speaker
So now you're laundering money. I own a Taco Bell called Taco Tickler, which I think is a awesome name for a Taco Bell company. It's a knockoff. It's so funny.
00:14:07
Speaker
um Listen, I'm at the combination Pizza Hut Taco Bell. I'm there with you. I just know so right now. God, it's so fun. And it's multiplayer with up to four people. And y'all can all just be little, little, little hellions on this town.
00:14:25
Speaker
um There is a guy. i kill him every morning because the the NPCs respawn every day. But we always have to kill Peter every single day. Every day that he spawns, you kill Peter.
00:14:38
Speaker
this required by the game required by you? Required by me. Yeah, required me me because Peter's last name is File. um You're kidding me. we kill Peter every morning. Peter File?
00:14:54
Speaker
Yes, he's Peter File. um So we kill Peter every morning. ah There's also Mick Lubbin. ah First name Mick, last name Lubbin. He runs the pawn shop.
00:15:09
Speaker
Yeah, this this game is, like I said, it the the characters in the strawberry chart and all of that kind of it It makes sense. It plays into it. It understands like, yeah, this is just like a silly drug game.
00:15:24
Speaker
But also there's so much. There's so many systems here. There's so many layers of systems that all work together to give you a really intuitive, very fun thing.
00:15:36
Speaker
Every task like growing weed, you have to put dirt into the pot. To put dirt into the pot, you rip open the bag, you tip it upside down and put third in. But if you shake the bag, it goes in faster. So you can do a little bit of speed up if you know, oh, shake the bag to speed it up.
00:15:54
Speaker
Then from there, you have to water the soil. And there's like a little mini game for that. And typically, if you make like a star shape, like the a five pointed like star that you would normally do yeah to draw a star, if you do that, you can usually hit most of the points.
00:16:08
Speaker
um Then you have to bury and plant the seed. There is like a pattern for that as well because you can like ah you put the seed and you pull the top off and there's like a movement where you can like put it there, rotate it, and then move the mouse and click at the right time, and it will just drop the seed in.
00:16:25
Speaker
Then you can do like a specific like click circle to bury it. like there're Every task in this game is a little mini game that has optimizations, and that leads me to really obsessively want to optimize everything to do it as fast as possible.
00:16:42
Speaker
And I've gotten really good at that. And then on top of that, there is... like you can buy cars and stuff because of course you got to like move the weed and the drugs around right i feel like the the car ah aspect is one of the the things about drug dealer personas that you really got to have in any yeah in any drug peddling piece of media car so i got i got a van talking about
00:17:09
Speaker
Uh, early on, you can buy a skateboard before you can afford a car. You can get a skateboard to help you get around town. Um, the fastest vehicle in the game is the golden skateboard and you can use vectoring to store velocity.
00:17:24
Speaker
as movement tech because the skateboard doesn't it has a speed limit but if you can go above the speed limit you don't decay back to the speed limit you maintain all the added speed and when you jump if you like strafe and go forward you can vector which adds the forward momentum and the left momentum together and gets you to go faster then the speed limit and then you can chain that over and over again to basically your bunny hopping vectoring and building the speed so you can just fly through the city i am so fast and i have the city memorized so well if you start talking about parallel universes i'm going to hang up this call i
00:18:10
Speaker
No, there aren't any parallel universes. i can just go. i can just travel so fast through this little thing. And the town is so well laid out.
00:18:21
Speaker
It really feels like a Like at the edge of a city, it like a gross seedy edge of a city. It has that lockdown so well. The environments are like, it's got like section eight housing apartments. It's got like run down, uh, construction project that never finished. It's got all the, like the things that you would think of if you thought of like, i was going to say where I grew up, but like a low income neighborhood. Um,
00:18:51
Speaker
You yeah, that's that's there. um And it just it feels natural and it makes sense. And then the personality and the character behind all of the different NPCs, they all are a little bit
Character Interactions and Game Depth
00:19:04
Speaker
different. They all want different things and they all have different spots that they want to meet up when they text you to like.
00:19:12
Speaker
do a deal because they'll be like hey i you've listed for sale a straw some strawberry shark i want that you've got the good strawberry shark hook me up i want that strawberry shark hook me up i'll take two i'll give you this much money you say yeah i'll meet you between this time frame they're all right sick meet me by the pizza place by the the containers behind the pizza place i want to meet at the skate park pizza hu taco bell yeah dude uh sauerkraut pizza ah number one pizza place ludwig homie i sell to that man i love him what do you mean you're not talking about sauerkraut pizza though right because that's a step too far is the pizza chain it's the the supreme sauerkraut pizza that's the pizza parlor do they serve sauerkraut pizza yeah sauerkraut pizza
00:20:05
Speaker
That's foul. That does sound foul. That sounds awful. But Ludwig runs it and he's a homie. Okay, fair enough. We love Ludwig. Ludwig's great. He buys he buys ah so much. all the Probably my favorite streamer of all time.
00:20:19
Speaker
I like Small Ant more. i do not watch Ludwig. Not here nor there. Every once in a while, I'll watch a little bit, but mostly just like Mogul Mail. um That's beside the point.
00:20:31
Speaker
Yeah. but like all of the characters have different personalities, they have jobs, they do different things and they're kind of set for everybody. Um, it's the same across the board. So there's been a lot of like really niche content being made about it. And it's one of the things that I like, I've seen people doing like, uh, customer tier lists of like their favorite customers to sell to.
00:20:54
Speaker
um, a different and like lists of like okay cool like this is what each customer does by job so like this is like kind of my head canon and stuff like that it's very funny i love miss ming she runs a chinese restaurant that i own the like uh apartment above um she's really cool she's crazy though she always wants the like the hardest stuff that you never expect from a little chinese lady wouldn't you come to always expect it then ah Eventually I did, but I did not expect it at first. I was like, wow, really? You want something that's like borderline lethal? Sick.
00:21:33
Speaker
Gotcha. Okay. So it sounds like this is a game about relationships. Yeah, there is like a decent chunk of like maintaining it. building relationships there is like a relationship meter you do build connections and that's how you like unlock new dealers you have to get people to like you and then so when you break into a new area of town you have to find like one or two people who are willing to buy from you and then once they're like yeah i like your i'll recommend you to my friends and then there's like in your phone there's a contact network of different people who are all related to other people through friendships and stuff like that
00:22:10
Speaker
So once I sell to Ludwig, Ludwig's like, yeah, I've got a friend, so um Andrew. You can go and talk to Andrew. Andrew will probably like your stuff. So then you go and sell to Andrew. And then from Andrew, we'll lead you over to to Brad. And then Brad's like, oh, actually, I sell. So if you want, you can give me a retainer and hire me and then I will sell for you. But you I'll only sell for you if you're friends with one of my friends.
00:22:35
Speaker
it's It's so interesting. the layer of like relationship building in this and the development of people's personalities in a game that doesn't seem like you would have that where like every time I see Geraldine, i know Geraldine's going to buy like four or five different things from me.
00:22:53
Speaker
Geraldine's a fiend. He is always in Megan. He's a stay at her goddamn job and stop leaving to go buy my shit while I'm trying to buy stuff from her at the grocery store. It's so frustrating. Every time I go there, she's always,
00:23:07
Speaker
out the door trying to go buy my coke and i'm like dude i'm trying to make more of it if you'd stay your job i'd be able to get you more jeraldine's a fiend jeraldine is a fiend i'm sorry i'm reeling are there like enemies in i'm sure you're like i'm sure you're trying to like stay away from the cops and stuff like that but yeah definitely the cops the cops are other pushers Um, I'm not yet. This is early access. There, there are, this is ah only the early access part. This is what came out. already So my dude, there's a new update coming in like two days. one of the things that I have on my list of things that I want to talk about, I really love their release schedule. Cause they said that once they have, uh, they're close to like within a week of releasing the new builds, they're just going to release,
00:23:56
Speaker
most of it on a beta build and then continue refining and then once that beta build has been tested out a little bit then they'll release the whole thing with like that all of the features but they're letting you get a sample for free right Right. That's what the demo for this game is called. Also, it's called the schedule one free sample. Yeah, I'm i'm looking at the demo right now.
00:24:21
Speaker
It's the demo just gets you through the first part where you're on your uncle thing. You go sell to the people. Your uncle gets arrested. You get out town. Demo wins. um From there.
00:24:33
Speaker
The game is incredible. It's got amazing character. It has it understands itself so well, and it does such good stoner comedy to know its audience very well.
00:24:47
Speaker
And it has a lot of really good features for people who are fairly forgetful for whatever that reason may be. Mm hmm. Whenever you're hitting the quit game button, it pops up with a, are you sure you want to quit? It has been x seconds, minutes, days, hours, whatever, since your last save. It just tells you like, this is how long ago you saved three seconds ago. You're good to lock out.
00:25:12
Speaker
You haven't saved in like two hours, dude. You might not want to hit the quit button. Have you gotten the days alert? No, I haven't. I save pretty regularly. This does run on a ah day cycle.
00:25:25
Speaker
So it's like a Stardew Valley kind of like that. where they' I'm guessing that there's like a compiling or like ah a data logging or a saving of some sort that has to happen at the end of the each day.
00:25:35
Speaker
it doesn't just run continuously. You have to like stop and hit sleep and then move to the next day, which Most games do in a way that I don't really like. And this game actually does in a way that I think is way more enjoyable, but also heavy handed and like you should go to bed and end the day.
00:25:56
Speaker
Most games are just like, yeah, you'd stay up too late. You're going to get a debuff the next day and you're getting days over. we're We're saying that for you. Yeah, we're calling it this game.
00:26:08
Speaker
On the other hand, um I really like that they don't end the day automatically. Once you hit a certain point, they despawn every character that you could sell to. They're gone. You can't sell to anyone anymore.
00:26:20
Speaker
And all of your NPCs that you've hired to work for you, all of your automation stop working. They just stand over in front of your building and are like, we're not working until you sleep. So you can continue doing whatever you want as long as you do it by hand.
00:26:36
Speaker
But when you're running a massive coke operation that takes like eight people to run. Doing that all by hand kind of sucks. And I'd rather just go to bed and have everyone start working again in the morning.
00:26:49
Speaker
Right. I'm sure. So but it does allow me the time to wrap up my thought of like, OK, cool. I'm going to prep all this. I'm going to do all this. And this is prep for this. and I need to do these things. And I've got everything kind of.
00:27:02
Speaker
labeled down in my head so now i'm gonna go to sleep and the first thing i'm gonna do is i'm gonna go launder all my money because i gotta go launder um and then from there i need to go check and make sure that i have everything refilled i set aside this money and this uh drug to go hand out to dealers i need to go get jars and bottles so i'm gonna do that on my way back and then also i'm going to place a ah delivery order for, uh, mix-ins because I need that to show up at on time so that I can actually keep the whole process running. I need that to be here by tonight so that I can get everything loaded in to start the next day.
00:27:37
Speaker
Um, like it gives you a lot of thinking time to get everything sorted, finished out for the day and then start the next one fresh, which I like so much more than like, oops, you stay up too late. Day's over. You don't get to finish what you're doing. You don't get to finish your thought. No, it's over. i said it's over.
00:27:55
Speaker
The game is like, all right, cool. Like day's over. You can't do anything else, but you can kind of wrap up what you're already doing, which is so nice. I love that feature so much. It's so, so good.
00:28:09
Speaker
There are a bunch of little things in here, and there's a bunch of different ways to play this game. um You don't even have to sell drugs like you you literally can play it without. Now, hold on.
00:28:20
Speaker
You can sell trash for money yeah there. You can buy a trash picking up kit at the the local hardware store and you can pick up trash on the ground and put it into a. cash for trash machine and burn it up and earn money that way. And then you can buy all the houses and cars and whatever you want, sell it, ah getting rid of trash. And in the newest update, they're adding a pawn shop. You can sell whatever item you want so you can play it without ever selling drugs. If you wanted, that is an option. I, so there are a lot of people who end game are like, don't need to make or sell the drugs at all anymore. That's all automated. i don't actually touch any of that. All I do is I pick up the trash that the drug operation makes
00:28:58
Speaker
And then I sell that and I make money through that. And then everyone's and I'll go talk to a dealer and collect cash. Like you can also stick with just weed and like low offense drugs. You don't have to make coke or meth if you don't want to.
00:29:11
Speaker
um There's also speed runs for this game already. But like I said, there's movement tech to like build speed. And like there are invisible objects and all sorts of other stuff. Like there's there's a pretty, pretty healthy speed running community of like 50 or 60 people so far. But are Are they speed runs or are they speed runs?
00:29:31
Speaker
um Oh, dude, that should be a speed run. The speed category. Yeah, that'd be a really good one. Like speed, speed run to getting like Coke. God, that would take so long.
00:29:42
Speaker
um It wouldn't be that hard. I'm thinking of a route now. ah That's what this game has done to me, though. Like, Jesus Christ. I am genuinely, like, addicted to this game.
00:29:54
Speaker
I'm almost, thank God, I'm almost at the end of the early access portion. I have unlocked the barn. I bought the warehouse. I'm about to get the warehouse set up to, like, really streamline all of my coke operation.
00:30:07
Speaker
I'm going to have planting, growing, and drying all at the barn, and then I'm going to do the actual mixing, packaging, and distribution out of the ah warehouse. And then the other two houses I don't even really touch. They're mostly just storage.
00:30:23
Speaker
Mm-hmm. But yeah, it looks silly. It looks very like there's not a lot going on There is a lot of depth to this game, and I think that is the thing that I find the most enjoyable is that if you keep digging there, there are so many different things you can do with this game.
00:30:44
Speaker
It lets you explore experiment, explore, and do a little bit of whatever you want while still giving you a couple of little bit boundaries to keep you within check. There are still police. There is still a ah curfew.
00:30:55
Speaker
um There are still limits to where and how you can travel and where you can carry your drugs. You do have to be careful. You can't just sell weed wherever you want. If there's a cop around and they bust you, they will take...
00:31:07
Speaker
All of your stuff. And if you're trying to distribute to all of your dealers and you have a lot of stuff on you, that can really throw off your entire business. And this does get into business management because towards the end, I'm not even making drugs. I am mostly that's all automated. Other people are doing that. I am just managing and putting out fires.
00:31:28
Speaker
We're out of mixins. I got to go pick up that. I need to go talk to this dealer. They're out of drugs. I need to go distribute these things. I need to go deal with this one customer who's being kind of crazy. I need to go do a bunch of stuff like yeah it is all related to drugs, but I'm actually not involved in the manufacturer of the drugs basically at all.
00:31:48
Speaker
ah I mostly just manage. Um, which is sort of weird thing to do person for a drug empire which is a fascinating middle management more than anything uh like i i'm i am the ceo but i'm very hands-on so i'm just like more of a ceo nowadays uh god but uh i i really do ruin you i don't know who you are anymore
00:32:21
Speaker
It's so good, though. I was i spen i spent my whole life f playing this game. all I do. It's all I know how to do anymore. And i I love it so much. I can't wait to get I want to get like a holy grail of ah drugs. I want to mix everything together, every mix in all on one one thing. I want to see what happens. Yeah.
00:32:44
Speaker
But yeah, this game is all made by one dude. His name is Tyler. um His studio is Tyler Video Game Studios or TVGS. Like a Tyler's just one dude making a game that really blew the fuck up and he is trying to keep up.
00:32:58
Speaker
And I feel really bad for Tyler right now because he is getting not sued, but investigated. But that's the first step towards a lawsuit by... a publisher called movie games. They made drug dealer sim too.
00:33:11
Speaker
um They initiated the investigate the investigation because they alleged that Tyler has infringed upon their copyright. um a lot of the claims that I've seen seem fairly dubious to me.
00:33:24
Speaker
i don't think they're very well founded. ah These are all the anything they say about this lawsuit is pure speculation. I don't know any facts. I'm not spouting any facts. and I'm not saying that any people are doing anything specific other than launching an investigation and alleging copyright infringement.
00:33:42
Speaker
But some of the alleging ah some of the allegations are kind of stupid. Like ah one of them is yeah there's like a little light switch looking save button on the wall that you click that button and it saves the game.
00:33:58
Speaker
That's also in drug dealer sim 2. Okay. um The mechanics for crafting the weed are very similar. Right, because it's based on real-life activity. Yeah.
00:34:11
Speaker
um The police search you, and there is a progress bar on the police searching you. Okay.
Legal Challenges Faced by Developer
00:34:20
Speaker
um You take orders through your phone.
00:34:26
Speaker
Yeah, again. yeah a lot of that can... pretty pretty it really feels like they're training yeah copyright the idea of a drug sim game it's like trying to copyright first person shooter and if doom doom did that all those years ago we wouldn't have fucking any games right it feels a little bit to me like that uh children's author who tried to claim uh copyright infringement on moana and disney just kind of shut that down so so fast Yeah, but Tyler's one dude and movie games is an actually fairly large studio. Right. it's It's sort of a reversal that but it's the same idea of like, OK, just because this thing got big and is kind of similar to a thing that you did completely unrelatedly does not mean they stole your idea. It means you all had similar inspiration, which is a thing that happens all the time. I mean, I'm already in the exact same genre. Yeah. Exactly. Exact same genre. I've already compared this game to Breaking Bad. It's not like anything, nothing new under the sun.
00:35:31
Speaker
Come on. No, yeah the the similarities of Breaking Bad are you can make meth, you can make the meth different colors, and you can own a fast food chain to launder money.
00:35:44
Speaker
Right, exactly. like That's... I don't think that that's ah obscene because like that is just what the drug trade is. You can people purchase companies to launder money all the time.
00:35:55
Speaker
ah pretty popular one is food because tips run through and that's an easy way to like fudge some numbers. Um, but yeah, it's, uh, it does seem fairly frivolous. Like I said, this is all allegations this is all alleged alleged, but like, yeah,
00:36:12
Speaker
it It seems fairly stupid, and they, uh, movie games released a statement basically saying, um, they, there is no lawsuit. They are not suing. They've just started an investigation, which is the precursor to a lawsuit.
00:36:30
Speaker
They're not mad, they're just disappointed. Kind of if the investigation goes the way that they want it to, or if the investigation shows that there are ah infringements, then there will be a lawsuit. But we haven't done that yet, even though in the investigation they state over and over again that we have found, we noticed, we have evidence of infringement. And it's like you you're writing this from the perspective of You've infringed our copyright, even though this is an investigation.
00:37:04
Speaker
And you're saying that the investigation, if it does show copyright infringement, we might take legal action. But the way you wrote the investigation shows that you really heavily think that there is copyright infringement.
00:37:16
Speaker
So are you taking legal action? And they're like, well, we don't. We haven't done that yet. It's like. Are you going to bully this kid or not? like Yeah, it it sounds like a ah big stink about something to get your name out there because someone else did something better than you. Yeah, they've been reviewed very, very I'm looking at it right now. It's awful.
00:37:41
Speaker
Overwhelmingly negative. It's not the thing that you do to gamers. You don't limit... Especially when something is so beloved and is made by just one dude who is like immediately identifiable.
00:37:53
Speaker
I think that that really like does not help movie games because movie games is such like a. A corpo-ass, like, company-sounding name. Like, hello, I am Movie Games.
00:38:08
Speaker
Hello studios that make games and movies. Yes. Real human studio by real people. on the On one side you have, yes, I am Movie Games, large publisher of many games. And then on the other side you have a guy who's like, hi, I'm Tyler, I made this game. And I think that a lot of people are like, I can relate to Tyler.
00:38:28
Speaker
Don't bully Tyler. I can relate to Tyler. I can't relate to movie games. I don't know what the fuck a movie games is.
Creative Freedom in Gameplay
00:38:34
Speaker
I know what Tyler is. Tyler's just a dude who made a game that he likes. Tyler's here putting Peter File and Strawberry Shart into his video games. We get I put Strawberry Shart in there. He did put Peter File in there. Tyler allows for Strawberry Shart to be there. Tyler allow for Strawberry Shart.
00:38:48
Speaker
And that's one thing that I like is that it it does allow you to make your own silliness because I got to name all my strains and you can mess with the cops. You can kill Peter. There's plenty of things to like be silly with. And I love that when people ask you for something like, hey, do you have any of blank? And then you can like insert silly words and they'll be like, hey, you have any glass I can chew?
00:39:14
Speaker
um i'll you for two glass that i can chew um it's very funny like you can it just leads to little moments of like hey and then definitely like moments i like what i was going on with of like meg who's always running out on me mid trying to buy a thing even though i'm just trying to buy supplies to make the thing that she's leaving me to go buy she leaves the gas station i'm I just can't buy anything and I got to drive to a whole other gas station on the other side of town. And like this one because they load the stuff in my car for me. The one on the bad side of town doesn't do that.
00:39:49
Speaker
you this This is so wild because ah you just sounded like you were describing real life for a moment there. And then I looked at a picture of this game.
00:40:01
Speaker
doesn't line up. It simply doesn't. god i and like Hold on one second. Sorry, I have no audio to anymore. back. down and back Hello. movie.
00:40:12
Speaker
this game looks like a ah roblox experience or something yeah um yeah i kind of felt that way until i played it and then once i played it i was like this level of jank is perfect for this game dude like to see you know things that i don't even want them to fix that are janky like when i skateboard and i push sometimes my foot goes through my shoe i don't care it adds to it it looks funny and it makes me happy ah i don't care that this game has jank it's made by one dude and it it's fucking so good we'd love to see a game that can capture that chaos yeah not capture it but but guide it yeah and and utilize that that chaos in a in a powerful way like this it really does lord i'm i'm losing my mind i have been for the last i told you 41 minutes and 47 yeah
00:41:13
Speaker
yeah I told you that I had to have some structure. Otherwise I would just scream at nothingness. I understand. um i This is with the structure. Imagine if I didn't even have an outline, dude. believe it.
00:41:31
Speaker
It's just it's so fun. I can't recommend it more. I really cannot recommend at least play the demo. It's so fun. um and the people that you meet in this game are so enjoyable for 20 bucks. It's so worth it. And I really...
00:41:48
Speaker
Can't wait to see what Tyler does because I've heard some some like rumblings floating around that make me so excited of like getting the FBI or the ATF involved, um having like rival mobs come in and like come into play. Or honestly, the soundtrack also is pretty good. and Sorry. but yeah on ah on ah On an extra note, the the music kind of slaps. It took me a second to really get into it, but I like it.
00:42:12
Speaker
Yeah. But like there have been talks about a lot for this game. I'm very excited to see where this goes because this is early access. This is initial release early access. No major patches.
00:42:26
Speaker
There have been some minor patches to fix a couple of bugs, but there have been no major patches yet. This is point three three 14 is the version number.
00:42:37
Speaker
it sounds like you just listed a Final Fantasy title. ah Point zero point three point four zero point three point three is what it's on right now. Like this is like so early, early. I'm very excited to see where this goes.
Addictive Qualities Compared to Real Drugs
00:42:51
Speaker
And it's already had so much to really just fully eat my entire brain. It's it's again, it's a lot like drugs in that way, isn't it?
00:43:04
Speaker
It really is. um What is all Jimmies and Chateau La Pee Pee? What did you say to me? Okay, so there are two new locations added in the new beta, and one of them is Old Man Jimmy's, and the other one is Chateau La Pipi.
00:43:23
Speaker
Does that have anything to do with Brut du Gloop? Brut du Brut de brit to gloop ah No, I don't know what Brut de Gloop is.
00:43:34
Speaker
I'm guessing that's a restaurant. I'm also guessing that Chateau La Pipe is a restaurant. Oh, maybe that's a French restaurant that I meet people over by because everyone always wants to meet people by the French restaurant on the the western or on the wharf by the...
00:43:49
Speaker
f frenche restaurant I meet people over there a lot. It's over by the ah parking garage and the casino. i I know this isn't the takeaway from what we're talking about here. i could go for some French right now.
00:44:01
Speaker
God, that would be really good. Yeah. i i want something I feel like I need it as a comedown after having this injected into my brain. brain They say I've been dealing some some illicit substances and this ah this one this one is schedule one um like that's a hard shit.
00:44:25
Speaker
God, dude, I did just get the ah achievement for Indian dealer where I'd sell something to a customer, then pickpocket it back from them. um Oh, no.
00:44:37
Speaker
No, that's just bad manners. I know. um There is an achievement for reaching ah getting the golden skateboard for reaching one mil, ten mil.
00:44:48
Speaker
getting arrested and there is the upstanding citizen achievement for disposing of 500 pieces of trash at the cash for trash machines. I earned that achievement first because I paid for my skateboard without selling a single drug.
00:45:02
Speaker
I like I sold the drugs that I needed to for the demo, but I did. I bought my skateboard and i I didn't go for the cheap one. i got I went for the regular skateboard. I bought it all with money that I sold from picking up trash.
00:45:15
Speaker
To start my journey right. And now I'm selling. ah Coke called stinky sex. No sexy stink. And it's not matter.
00:45:26
Speaker
Sexy stink. And it makes you have a big head. it gives you see in the dark vision. and makes you athletic so you can run twice as fast. um It.
00:45:38
Speaker
Oh, what else does it do? It does. ah Why do these drugs give you superpowers? Uh, okay. So I, I put batteries in it. So it makes you see in the dark.
00:45:49
Speaker
Um, i put right right exactly what eating batteries does it's I put red bull in it, which makes you athletic. I put Viagra in it, which makes you happy. just gives you a smile on your face, like a really cheeky little smile. And then the, uh, what, what's the other one that I put in there?
00:46:11
Speaker
There's the Viagra. There's the Red Bull. There's the. I'm expecting you say like peanut butter or like dog urine or something. There's Adderall, which makes you focus, which makes you be able to. um It has a big head. It makes your head big.
00:46:26
Speaker
Okay. You can get big brain. You take out a big brain, big brain. i So I got big head, glow eye, fast, strong, seeing the dark, happy people.
00:46:38
Speaker
So that's my entire town. Cryptid at that point. Kind of. Yeah.
00:46:46
Speaker
Methods so right it make you the Mothman. Dude, I'm trying to get one that makes you glow blue. I've seen ones that make you glow green. I don't want green. I want glowing blue. so I'm trying to figure out that.
00:47:01
Speaker
This has sparked such... like There's so many different niche like segments of this as well. and i could I know I mentioned that before, but like there are people who are like, these are my favorite people to sell to. There are people who are like, this is my favorite recipe. And like recipe guides for like this is how I make my shit.
00:47:17
Speaker
This is how you should make your shit. I got this effect by mixing these things together. This is the effect that I got from mixing these. it's like They're sharing their... um there's speed running community which is all sharing tech and like where you can like i like climbing to different places so like i've been using boxes and stuff to like get up into the sky i have clipped out of bounds twice now which is very fun and feels like ah a requirement at this point for a game of this caliber i would be surprised if you had um oh also one of my favorite things is i'm just rambling stuff now so like no of course
00:47:52
Speaker
I think you should play this game. We're towards the end. Thank you for listening. I hope you enjoyed. I'm just some fun things that I've been enjoying as a car person and someone who is like very big into cars. I really love the the shittiest car that you can buy as your first car.
00:48:08
Speaker
That's like cheap. It gets you from place to place, but like it's not good. It's called a box. Um, Now, and that is like ah if you like cars and you're a car nerd and you want like a cheap daily driver, shoebox is a term that a lot of people use for their car.
00:48:31
Speaker
Yeah, like that's so that's it. And I just love that they like had the. the at least the inside knowledge to be like yeah that's funny i'm taking that i'll use that and this community that i don't know if they're a part of i hope they are it'd be cool because they do have some cool cars in there they got like a mustang they got like ford econoline van which is just like a white van um the box is like a just like a really basic like you if you ask a kid to draw a picture of a car and you've got like that real square one that's what this box looks like there's a ford f-250 game looks like Like, dude.
00:49:10
Speaker
There's Jeep Cherokee. There's Jeep Grand Cherokee, like a 1990s Jeep Grand Cherokee. It's pretty cool. um There's like a Honda Acura as well. Like, but like a late 2000s Honda Acura and then like a kind of older, like F-250, F-150 extended cab for the car nerds that are still listening.
00:49:32
Speaker
um Yeah, we've really just had alienated so much of our audience at this point, huh? Hi, James's parents. I hope you like the drug episode.
00:49:43
Speaker
Oh, they did not even start this one. I can promise you that. I gave a disclaimer up top. i That's when they stopped. I gave the disclaimer on purpose.
00:49:55
Speaker
I knew what this episode was going to be. And i was like, ah James censors me sometimes on the episodes. This is one that I don't think we're going to be able to do that with. So I'm going to start this off by being like, hey,
00:50:09
Speaker
I'm going start talking about drugs real soon. So i think if you don't like that, i think this is the first one where I'm just going to go ahead and let all that happen and just mark the episode explicit. Like, yeah, there's no I ain't cutting around this one. fell I don't think that this one's going to be an easy one to strawberry short your way out of. um Dear Lord.
00:50:30
Speaker
Yeah. God, I've got some really good ones. Yeah. I honestly naming the drugs has been like one of my favorite parts of this game. um just saw your little notification pop up you're opening the game all night.
00:50:50
Speaker
Oh, one of the other things that I like is on the start menu, it shows you a pile of cash that is your total net worth and the total amount that you earned and have, like, current possession of, including, like, equipment and, like, locations and equity.
00:51:06
Speaker
So, like, if you have equity in, like, a building, it'll include that. But, like, it has your total current net worth visualized behind you in dollar bills. Mm-hmm. and so like cubes of a hundred thousand dollars and it's a lot of money i've ah currently am worth 412k incredible so you stay on that grind set i have been on that show and it does give you a little weird encyclopedia in game which is pretty nice there there has to be a better portmanteau for that right
00:51:39
Speaker
I'm not the state mind. It's the product manager app. But let's, look I got Boo California Cookies. Cheeto Puff. Cheeto Puff was a good one. That one is Green Crack Mixed with Bananas.
00:51:51
Speaker
Cheeto Puff is pretty, I like that one a lot. That is an evocative name. I do like that one. Gorilla Ass Blaster. that's ah That's a good one. Mega Cheese. I should have saved that sentence for the next one you named.
00:52:06
Speaker
um I do have death, which is Granaddy Perp and gasoline. um and then I got death and donuts, which is just death mixed with donuts. um Sludge puppy. That one was a good one.
00:52:18
Speaker
are there drugs that just kill you? Like that is the irony is one of the one of the modifiers. Yes, I have not unlocked a lethal drug yet. You have to get a specific combo.
00:52:30
Speaker
ah Fruit fart. I got horns. Which that one just turns you into a horse. um Extreme Thunder. That's a good one. I like that one quite a bit. No, no, no, no. What do you mean it turns you into a horse? Don't worry about it. and Dream ass.
00:52:46
Speaker
Hairy ass. Big cake. Shiny gold sweet monkey. that was just called cocaine. Ice cream crystal. That one was one that I liked a lot. That one was pretty good ah to make Walter White. It's just Red Bull in meth. It makes you athletic. um Yeah, this is this is this game, dude. I.
00:53:06
Speaker
I don't want to tell you. Mega Splooge is also one of them. that one was That one was a good one. OG Cushion Bananas. Of course. Yeah. and Some of these are auto-generated. some of Oh, this one's just called A Good Day. It's just sour diesel and paracetamol, which is like an aspirin. um yeah That one's just A Good Day. It just makes you feel a little better. It's it's it's refreshing. It's got a little little painkiller in there. You're just vibing.
00:53:32
Speaker
Yeah. viin really like honestly was a big baby i'm having an experience right now and i cannot describe to you what that experience is it's not i would i would i would note it as a positive one certainly but outside of that i think i'm just kind of my my frontal lobe is going numb Yeah, ah this game has enveloped 100% of my brain. so that's been my advice.
00:54:04
Speaker
It might just be the gorilla ass blaster talking, but i don't I don't feel all there. can get you some. I got I got a connection. I know She's Hi. Hello.
00:54:17
Speaker
she's me i hi hello
00:54:22
Speaker
um But yeah, like all of my friends are playing it, everyone. And the fact that you can do all of this and have multiplayer, like live multiplayer, just four of y'all running around this town causing mayhem.
00:54:34
Speaker
um Pretty rad. Pretty just pretty cool. I like it quite a bit. um I think you should play this game. I definitely think it is well worth the 20 bucks. Even i know it's an early access game. If they never put out another drop of this game, if I know they're about to drop a new update in like a couple of days.
00:54:57
Speaker
What if they didn't do that and they just never updated this game again? I think this game is worth the 20 bucks. Just off rip. I think it is. I think it is a great game. I think it's so fun. I think it's well worth the $20 as it is on its own as it is right now.
00:55:15
Speaker
All the bugs included. would easily pay 20 bucks to play this again. um i didn't even pay the $20. I would do it though. I would.
00:55:25
Speaker
I very likely will end up paying the $20. We'll see. that If you do pay the $20, please let me know. I will start a whole new save just to play with you. would so fun.
00:55:37
Speaker
i'm making you name all the weed. It's going to so funny. I would love that. i I don't think I'm going to be able to top the display I've witnessed here today front of God and everyone. It's okay, I'll carry.
00:55:50
Speaker
I'll carry in the drug game. Incredible. um Yeah, I think that that's where I'm going to leave this. I think i that's enough. This is what indie gaming has unleashed upon the world. God, dude, this is the rise of like...
00:56:06
Speaker
I wouldn't even say double A gaming. This is just a gaming. this is just gaming. gaming. a gaming. This is a gaming. couldn't be happier. An indie renaissance. an indie ra on This, yeah, this is definitely a part of the indie renaissance. This has to get an award at the Games Award this year, right?
00:56:27
Speaker
Like, this is taking over the internet. True, I have no idea. This is transcendent beyond the Game Awards, right? Like, can we all agree those are just kind of trash at this point? Yeah, that's fair.
00:56:39
Speaker
This feels like the flag that's been planted that declares the landscape has changed. Yeah. do it ah What gaming is can never be the same.
00:56:53
Speaker
Schedule one This game currently, as I am speaking, has a peak player count of players right now.
'Schedule 1' Popularity on Twitch
00:57:02
Speaker
Two hundred and forty five thousand people are playing right now.
00:57:08
Speaker
Last 24 hours 324,000 and had peak player count 45,000 people. This game is going crazy.
00:57:16
Speaker
four hundred and fifty thousand people this game is going crazy It is the second highest viewed game. It is the highest viewed game on Twitch right now over Fortnite, over Call of Duty, over Minecraft, over everything else. This game has twice as many people watching it as Fortnite right now.
00:57:39
Speaker
I wish you could see the stank face I just made. Schedule one is beating out Minecraft. Minecraft has eighteen point five k viewers right now. Schedule one has 154,000.
00:57:54
Speaker
That is beating out Minecraft by an order of magnitude.
00:58:00
Speaker
Repo, another game that's doing gangbusters right now. 20K, that's nothing to the 150. Like that's this game is going crazy. i' that's out of touch at 25 years old. I've lost it. I'm the I'm the old man on a rocking chair in the corner.
00:58:17
Speaker
i I remember this is number two on top sellers. i remember when video games was just Pac-Man. And Mario.
00:58:28
Speaker
Owner estimation, somewhere between two and five million copies have sold so far. back Back when the main character was a good upstanding citizen.
00:58:41
Speaker
Not anymore, Grandpa. Goomba stomping and spin dashing.
00:58:51
Speaker
Those days are so far behind I mean, Mario likes eating mushrooms. Well, okay, but listen. Listen. Hippie!
00:59:05
Speaker
think you're a funny woman. Why do you think he's so happy? Uh-huh. You and every other internet comedian of the past 50 years. Yeah, it's not a joke. Mario's not that old.
00:59:16

And it has so many different modes of play. Like everything, every drug is different. You need different hires. You need different people. You need different skill sets. You need different tasking. You need different balance of of people, bot needs more cleanup than ah a chemist does like just by virtue of the fact that they've got more items you're having to fertilize plants that is a whole separate thing you have a bottle left over you got to deal with that gotta hire janitor afterwards it takes different levels of knowledge to get those things working and flowing efficiently and that's so fun to play with god
