Introduction & Ticketmaster Troubles

00:00:00
Speaker
Welcome to Wine Mama, a podcast where two bestie moms whine while they whine. I'm Annie. And I'm Jemina. Let's whine. And let's all celebrate for another week of Ticketmaster personally victimizing me and you, and honestly probably half this country, on Harry Styles tickets.
00:00:19
Speaker
I have no words. Literal, literal zero words. If you have been personally victimized by trying to get these Harry Styles tickets and off of Ticketmaster, please raise your hand.
00:00:30
Speaker
Raise your hand. We're all in this together. We're all in this together. It's painful. It is painful to go through.
00:00:40
Speaker
Like, i I'm going to need a specific therapy session for this. Like, that's how much it's traumatizing me. It is mentally draining. I'm dreaming about it. I'm waking up thinking about it. It is just consuming my soul.
00:00:55
Speaker
and i told you on my night i told you about um I told you about my nightmare. it it came back. yeah takes you up So I had a nightmare, you guys. And i and i I was going about like my morning and then it hit me. at remind I remembered it and i was like, oh my God, i had a nightmare. I was number seven in the queue. i'm okay One thing you have to know about me is I do all major purchases off my laptop. I'm a laptop desktop girlie. The phone's great, right? For scrolling social media, texting, my Kindle app, love it. But if I'm doing a big purchase or like browsing anything significant, it's on the laptop.
00:01:30
Speaker
So in my nightmare, I was in the Ticketmaster queue. I got number seven in the queue. I was on my phone and my big freaking fingers could not like hit the buttons correctly. And so I lost the tickets after being number seven in the queue. And that was my nightmare.
00:01:46
Speaker
How... Very sad I'm having. Horrific. Horrific. And just to put perspective of like this Harry Styles queues, I have literally been in this queue every day for every presale. Amex presale, artist presale, general presale. Every single presale. The lowest I've gotten in the queue so far is $44,000.
00:02:08
Speaker
which is we made through Which is really good. Yeah. Which is really good. I've been in the $100,000s, So we were hopeful, okay? yeah But the way these tickets are going, you guys, it is madness. Anything left is $1,000, which that is a problem I will take up with Harry himself because I don't know i don't know if he meant to like,
00:02:31
Speaker
I don't know. I think he accidentally added a zero. I don't think his team knows what's going on. like Oh, no, no, no. My guy was vibing at the Grammys last night. He was a presenter. I'm like, hello, Harry. got to speak to the people. You have got, hello. We wondering what the hell's going on what The only thing i will praise here is i do appreciate Ticketmaster giving live updates of what is left while you're in the queue. That is the only positive words I have in regards to the situation.
00:03:04
Speaker
Same, same. I don't want to speak about the pricing, the dynamic pricing. I'm not going speak out any of that, but yes, them giving the updates. So like, you know, five minutes in, it's like, oh all the tickets are gone. Good luck next time. It's like, okay, thank you much.
00:03:16
Speaker
Thank you so much. you So much. I'm, but you know, I appreciate the effort. Like, Do I still stay in the queue just in case? Absolutely. Just to see. Just to see. And there's this magic. Did you hear about those like crazy like random stories of like, I'm not saying tickets, but it's like random stories like how that happened to you? Like, how'd you do that? How'd you get? like Maybe that'll be me.
00:03:36
Speaker
Maybe they're just these magic

Life Updates & Celebrations

00:03:38
Speaker
tickets will pop up. But anyways, can you guys see that it's taking over our lives? It is taking over our brain power, our brain space outside of the Harry Styles ticket battle.
00:03:48
Speaker
How are you? How are the kids? How's Ben? How is life? You know, I honestly have neglected them for two weeks at this point because of this hair situation. I don't know how they are anymore. They don't know who I am or what I'm doing, but um everyone's good. our Avery girl has started dance classes and it's probably the cutest, sweetest thing I've ever seen in my soul, especially for someone who literally woke woke up singing. I love the evil queen multiple times, like literally just singing.
00:04:18
Speaker
I love the evil queen. And then she'll stop and be like, and Cruella too. So for someone who, you know, has a lot of villain love in her heart, seeing her in a little ballet leotard and seeing her do her first class was so cute. An angel. Oh God, angel. She did.
00:04:35
Speaker
So like halfway through the class, they change into their tap dance shoes. Yeah. And all the little girls are so cute. They run to their bag and they're like putting their shoes on. And obviously... This was her first class. Like, I didn't know, I don't know what she needs yet. And um she literally ran up to the window. Cause you know, like you can watch through the window and screaming at the window. Like I can hear her perfectly fine. Like she knew me to scream. yeah I know, I know have those, I know have those like screaming. And so the teacher was like, it's okay. It's okay. And she's like screaming. So i'm like, all right, I tap shoes to the cart. Amazon deliver overnight tap shoes now.
00:05:11
Speaker
done done before the next class thankfully it's only once a week we can that's why we chose the specific place we also got great rub reviews from a good friend but we can't add a lot of activities there's just a lot going on you know oh yeah she needs an activity so and then I have the best little story um for Beckett who unfortunately has been feeling under the weather this last week um but I guess Ben made a comment to him i don't know if he was like getting up from sitting down. I don't know The comment was something in regards to, I'm just an old geezer. And Becca was like, what does that what does that mean? And he goes, Oh, I'm just a grandpa.
00:05:48
Speaker
And Becca goes, no, you're not. You'll be, a he goes, yeah, he'll go. You you'll be a grandpa. Once, once me and Kennedy have kids like that's that, your grandpa but don't worry. That's like 25 years from now.
00:06:03
Speaker
It's okay in 25 years. And I said, I'll allow it 25 years. We're looking in the thirties. Yep. I'll take it. I'll take it. It was so cute. And I've also asked him, which I forgot to tell you, i think, but I asked him like last week, you know, I was just like, I always like to joke with him. Like, how so how's school? Any girl crushes? Any girlfriend? And i was like, do you have any crushes? And he's like, my only crush is still Kennedy. i like basically, you know, Kenny, don't break his heart. He's still, he's still crushing over here. he's hardcore. He's a all in baby. He's all in.
00:06:38
Speaker
All the eggs in the Kennedy basket, truly. For sure. But anyways, that that's how but' so things are just brewing over here. How are things over there? how are all the How's the POW fam? You guys had very, very busy weekends with Gatsby, birthdays, all the jazz. Like, what's going on over there?
00:06:55
Speaker
Lots of things going on. um Honestly, probably kind of still recovering, to be to be very honest. We had adult Gasparilla, and we Greg and I partook in that with another another couple. And it's always fun, right? Like it it was one, it was freezing. It was, I think one of the coldest Gasparillas like on record. um But it's always so much fun. Like you just kind of have to expect that people are going to be loosey goosey, cuckoo crazy um and go with the flow. And that's what we did. It was a lot of fun. And then The next day was Greg's birthday. And i decided the Tampa, like the Tampa Bay lightning had the outdoor stadium series game here against the Boston Bruins. And I was like, that's going to be his birthday present.
00:07:37
Speaker
I know he's not going to buy the ticket himself. And cause they were, it pretty expensive. Um, even when they first went on sale, they were very expensive. So i got that for him for his birthday present. And like in the very beginning when it was like 5-1, he was like, this is my nightmare. and know Knowing that all this money was spent and they are looking like shit. And then right after that, it was like score, score, a score, goalie fights, fights here, all this stuff. i was like, yes. was at home. I was like, yes.
00:08:05
Speaker
Thank God. was like, yeah. i was like, thank God. and they ended up winning. But yeah. Yeah, it was a very busy weekend. um Aubrey did, um i hate to call it adult Gasparilla, but that's like what it is. But Aubrey Gasparilla with friends. so of course I'm like location watching at all times. She was like near where we were. she was She was nearby and then she stopped by with a friend to say hi. So it made me feel a little bit more a little bit more comfortable. um and then, you know, did I tell you Kennedy has lost another tooth on the bottom? So she like a little legitimately, if she loses another one on the other side, she's gonna look like a jack-o'-lantern. Like these two are gone.
00:08:41
Speaker
Then down here is gone. like, yo, my girl, we got, we got to chill out. Like we can't, we can't be losing that many. this is so silly. We can't be losing. Yeah. too fair Working overtime at the pot house. Tooth fairy, listen, the tooth fairy is busy. And she woke up after that bottom tooth and came in the room. she's like oh, I forgot to look to see what the tooth fairy brought. And i was like, well, why don't you go to the bathroom first?
00:09:07
Speaker
it Dad's going to make sure that you wash your hands and everything. He's going to make sure. and I'm going to I'm going to go just pop over in your room real quick. Just be right back.
00:09:20
Speaker
Panic. I think I heard someone calling me from the room. I'm not sure Yeah. Let me go check on Charlie really quick. Full-blown panic. But we've all been there. We've all been there. um Yeah. so anywho, just a lot going on. I think we're going very last minute sneak in, as you know, a Disney trip this weekend because we did that family, the florida pack the Florida three pack for the kids and the four pack for the adults because we always use one for Epcot drink around the world. um So we're going to try to sneak in a day with the kids this coming weekend. So we'll see about that.
00:09:53
Speaker
and We'll see how everyone is surviving and thriving. Lots of lots of things going on. Lots of things going on. I think that means it's time to wine with our wine of the week.

Wine Tasting: Castello Nipozano Chianti

00:10:03
Speaker
So frequently, please. let's All right. Let's see if I can pronounce it. This week, we are drinking the Castello Nipozano Chianti Classico Reserva.
00:10:14
Speaker
I think that was it. I think I did. I think I did. Thank you so much. and So obviously this is a Chianti wine. It is from Italy, um just outside of Florence, obviously in the Tuscan, tuscany Tuscan region of of Italy.
00:10:32
Speaker
I'm honestly kind of excited. I can't, I know we've done Chiantis in the past and I can't, but I cannot for the life of me. We've done so many wines. I just cannot remember. I like counties? Did I not?
00:10:42
Speaker
You guys- ah we No. They're all combining now. No, at this point, you may have like a standout wine. But at this point, it's like, I'm like, I don't remember.
00:10:55
Speaker
Like, I don't, I don't remember, which is so terrible to say. um let's chat about this wine a little bit and where it came from. And actually this, the family company that had, they have a bunch of different like locations or like vineyards or Castellos, I guess you could say um within Tuscany. So it was actually pretty cool. And this one you can actually stay at, which I'm like, that would be so cool. so The ancient defensive stronghold of Florence from the year 1000, the Castello Niposano is the most celebrated and historic property of the Frescobaldi family. So that's what I was, the Frescobaldi, the parent company, um they own a bunch of different um properties.
00:11:35
Speaker
According to popular belief, Nipozano means without a well, testimony to the area's lack of water and ideal circumstances for the cultivation of grapevines. The first documentation about the renowned wines of Nipozano dates from the Renaissance when a great win great artists such as Donatello regularly purchased wine from the estate.
00:11:55
Speaker
So, I mean, we're going back. We're going way back. we're going way Way back. I mean, we're talking about artists that are drinking this wine. So, I mean, this is, is this fancy, fancy?
00:12:08
Speaker
This is very fancy. I feel like i'm when we say artists, do we mean like, because you said Donatello. So, I'm like picturing Davines. is it da Vinci? Like, you know, all the, all the, all the, all the fellas just gathering around, you know? Yeah.
00:12:22
Speaker
Um, but a little bit more about specifics about this county on the nose. This wine is fruity and full and floral, fruity and floral. Okay. At the same time with hints, reminiscence of black currants, blueberries, and raspberries floor notes, reminiscent of violets and dog roses follow.
00:12:41
Speaker
don't think I've ever heard of a dog rose. This is followed. It's also followed by spicy notes reminiscent of black pepper, cloves, and star anise. Delicate tertiary notes and freshness given by balsamic and citrus scents are also interesting. The palate reveals a nice acid alcoholic component and the tannic texture is well present, dense, and silky. That is a lot. That is a lot.
00:13:09
Speaker
So many words. I tried to cut off from what what I could from there because you guys know sometimes these sites are like in Italian or in like they're in another language or Spanish, whatever. And they translate like automatically will translate. And sometimes sometimes the translation isn't always there. So could definitely be the case. We don't know. There's just, I mean, we're talking fruity, floral, spice. Like there's a lot of things being thrown in there. And then dense and silky. Like I will say, i would agree with the dense because it it is very dark. Like it is a very dark looking Chianti, if you will. So I can agree with that. It sounds good.
00:13:49
Speaker
Price point is pretty decent. Anywhere from $17 to $21. We both got ours from ABC Liquors. I didn't, I'll be honest, I didn't check if anywhere else had it, but ABC is pretty It's pretty known location. If if you find it on ABC, you can probably find it elsewhere too. Yeah.
00:14:05
Speaker
So are we ready to give this Chianti this horn? Let's see. has such long name. Castello Niposano Chianti Classico Reserva. And this is specifically the 2021. So let's give it a Let's give her a try. Cheers. Yeah. Cheers. Had to give it you a little smell. Just...
00:14:29
Speaker
Oh.
00:14:32
Speaker
I hope you couldn' couldn't hear me swallow because like it sounded like almost like a burp coming back. oh Honestly, you guys, this audio picks up everything. know. I mean, you will get my instant reaction if that captured on mic.

Candid Motherhood & Parenting Routines

00:14:50
Speaker
i'm gonna i'm good I'll try to cut it out for you, but i can't make any promises. Um, I, no, I don't think this is good. Okay. Well, let's just say that the description is correct. There's just a lot of things that are being thrown in here that are not supposed to be together ever in a wine is what I'm going with.
00:15:10
Speaker
I think the acidic, um, verbiage there was correct. yeah i i think my body is rejecting it i mean i'm taking a sip it's like a gurgle like of it's not it's not a good taste it's not like a i don't know what word i'm looking for but like it's not like a good wine taste no and that doesn't explain it any people who are listening are like okay so it's not a good wine is what you're saying but like it's it doesn't have that like it doesn't even i don't know how to describe it either like But the only way I can say is like everything I just read as a description like is correct. Like if you can think of everything that can pour into a pot. that This is the dog roses. This is the dog roses. Dog rose, pepper, ah blackberries. Like it's literally one of those things that it's just like this looks good. Let's pour it in the pot.
00:16:05
Speaker
Maybe not. Yeah. maybe not it's giving it's giving witches brew i'm gonna have to try to pawn it's giving witches brew i'm gonna see if i have to if i can pawn this off on greg and be like oh my gosh he oh because he always asks when i'm done recording like hell was the wine you know and i'll like tell him like oh i'm just like that or it's not that great i'm like you've got to try this you you're gonna really like it we're gonna need your opinion on this one if you could yeah if you please yeah provide some insight. But you know what? We're not going to let that bring us down because we actually have a fun topic tonight. um
00:16:39
Speaker
Just in regards to motherhood, you know, there's just a lot of things that can be a little, what's the word looking for? Overrated. You know, it's things that Sometimes can be a little bit of a hot take as well in the way that we're going to discuss these. Like some people may think they're hot takes, but in reality too, though, like deep down, like, you know, it's a little bit overrated. Like it's a little overrated, overhyped.
00:17:05
Speaker
Right. Yeah. So give it to us. What's, the what's overhyped? Yeah. Overhyped, overrated. And it's like, m and people talk about it and you're like, m okay. We sure? It's like those things that you're talking about that we all as parents, just pretend that we love.
00:17:23
Speaker
Right. So we're going to get started with the first one. Early mornings. Okay. There's nothing peaceful about the early mornings. chaos Y'all like there's not like, and I'm sorry, here's going be my personal hot take.
00:17:39
Speaker
i I will get up. I go to the gym in the morning. i know you do too. We talk about it all the time. And that's like me time, right? Like I'm choosing to do that for my well-being. It's not one of those things. I'm like, I'm going to get up at 4 a.m.
00:17:54
Speaker
Have some coffee and watch the bluebirds come in, you know? No, it's not peaceful because chances are my kid heard me and they're coming down the damn stairs too. And now it's no longer peaceful. So it's just, you know, like, why, why are we trying to romanticize 5.00 AM? Like I, I'm re romanticizing leaving the house. Okay. I'm getting up early so I can leave the house to go exercise. Yeah. Right. Well, this is my thing. This is my thing. And you and I both, if we wake up or like I, there's days where I'm up at the crack of dawn walking out that door to go work out.
00:18:27
Speaker
If you were to ask me, hey, would you rather sleep another two hours or wake up at 430? What in God's name do you think my answer is going be? what do you think my answer is going to Ah, yes. The crisp, fresh morning year at 430. There's nothing. There's nothing better, you know. However, on the flip side, i get my workout done for the day.
00:18:49
Speaker
I'm done. By the time I get home, my house, my household is still asleep. Right. Like, so I do like that part of it. Right. And then sometimes I come home if I have enough time. Like, of course, I always take a quick shower, but sometimes I'll sit and like, maybe I'll go with my work emails or maybe I'll sit and read like a chapter of my book or I'll start the kids breakfast. So like that part of waking up early, I'm a very big fan of, but is it enjoyable? No, no, it sure is not.
00:19:17
Speaker
No, it's, it's almost like by force, like you're proud of yourself for doing it, but like I have to do it because when else am I going to fit this into my schedule? you you you you You won't. I mean, i commend people who go and do that after work, especially people who have kids. I'm like, when do like literally, when do you have time? But then you look at the early morning, like let's let's flip it on its head. We talk about the early morning routines, the early morning waking up.
00:19:46
Speaker
The bedtime routines. oh Someone sedate me. Someone just take me out. are we I feel like we talked about this before. Our bedtime routines are, they they know they know it's time.
00:20:01
Speaker
They know that there's something there's something in the water and their little sensors are going off. With your finger, what's that song? Winds in the East. Yeah. Oh, um, this is serious is that focus from, is it? i thought was from Mary Poppins.
00:20:17
Speaker
Oh, it is from Mary Poppins. You're right. Right. it' They always, they always, that sound always comes back during Halloween. So that's why, but it is Mary Poppins. Yes. Okay. It's Mary Poppins. Yes. It is Mary Poppins, but that's really what they they know.
00:20:30
Speaker
is they know their little sensors are going off and you guys as much as i like we may have a calm bedtime every now and then and as much as i strive to have like we're gonna brush our teeth we're gonna go sit in bed and read a book together and then i'm gonna go good night i love you and close the door and everyone's gonna be happy it ain't happening the amount of time my kids come downstairs and it's Oh, I forgot to tell you that um I ate.
00:21:03
Speaker
What did you say? bobby Yeah, yeah. I forgot tell you that Bobby waved at me today. i forgot to tell you that I only ate half of my sandwich at lunch. Okay, that's all right. that yeah That can wait until the morning.
00:21:16
Speaker
That can wait. It's true. you see like Honestly, though, if it's taking longer than 20 minutes to do your bedtime routine, it is no longer a bedtime routine. It's a hostage situation, okay? You are being hostage against your children. like we you're just not prepared for what happens. Like, you are so right.
00:21:37
Speaker
Yes, they are judge, jury, and executioner of our lives at bedtime. And it's like, and they know, they know, know. They sense that energy shift immediately. Like, the sun goes down and they just like, no, it's time to take our prisoners. And we're going turn this into Yes. We own this house now. Yes. It's terrifying. That's definitely something, you know, that's overhyped. Like, it never goes down how you want it to be. Yeah. If you guys if you're someone who enjoys your bedtime routine, honestly, I'd rather do but I'd actually rather do a bedtime routine than
00:22:15
Speaker
come down and drink this wine, I'll be honest. I'm like, if it's a few more minutes being held hostage by my children or coming down having a glass this wine. Right. Okay. Tell me more about this Bobby person. Who is he? Oh, yeah. Sure. Now, what's his last name?
00:22:30
Speaker
What color hair? Brown? Blonde? Okay. i think I think I know Bobby. I think I know him. But it's, yeah, it's just one of those things. And like with that too, like we're, you know, everything That we're kind of saying our things that is overhyped, you know, because we see it as a, oh my gosh, yes. Like, you know, we're just pretending to love it. It's such a great thing. And I love it. no. We love the fact that the day is done. and see Those little gremlins are in bed sleeping like angels. So we can enjoy it.
00:23:02
Speaker
not this wine but some glass of wine and binger shows or trash tv shows yeah peace and quiet after the fifth visit from them coming downstairs yes yes for that 100th kiss that they need i'm gonna give it to them because i love them i'm not gonna tell them no it would never but it's like all right it's time now it's time it's now 11 o'clock like it's yeah we have gone through this for three hours now like it's time um but moving on okay next thing and this is like a huge one because and i will say i am guilty i think we all are we've all tried to do it and make it special pinterest lunches oh god i'm sorry like i my child wants an uncrustable as it comes I don't have the time to cut it into a shape, first of all. And I feel like even if I cut it into a shape and took that extra minute of love, they probably wouldn't eat it because it doesn't look like the Impressible anymore. Yeah. What's what's this? What's this yeah is this? Is this Smucker's? Why is it in this shape? Yeah. i actually, I bought one of those kits off of Amazon that has like
00:24:16
Speaker
all of the shapes in it, all the little like eyes that you can put in there to make like a face. I bought like all of this stuff. Yes. All of this stuff. And after a while you're like, Oh my God, if I have to find one more tiny little like stick eyeball or like squiggle that just is like rogue somewhere or ends up in the disposal and you're like grinding it up. I'm like, Oh my God, I'm going to lose my mind over all these tiny little items. I will say like,
00:24:46
Speaker
they They acknowledge it sometimes. other the of the Other times, I think they just like, it's like an afterthought, you know? Like, it comes out and they're like, okay. 1,000%. Thanks. 1,000%. And same, even with, like, breakfast. Like, if you, like, it's the weekend and you want to make it special, you turn that pancake into a smile, Like all your effort to be that, to make that Pinterest just either gets under, ah underappreciated or you didn't do it right.
00:25:14
Speaker
You know, like you get scolded now by your child. And then now you're frustrated because you just took the time to build this masterpiece for them. And yeah, they're, they won't eat it. They won't eat it because it looks like a place. Yeah.
00:25:27
Speaker
Simple is best. Simple is best. Make something out of like fruit. I don't know. Cut the fruit up and make us... to Listen, listen. Two blueberries is a long way. Two do blueberry eyes and then you unpeel the banana and there's your smile. Boom. Gorge. If you want to get really crazy, get get a strawberry, cut the top off, cut it in half. There's your nose.
00:25:47
Speaker
I mean... don't Don't call me Pinterest, but I'm pretty close. You could literally do a smiley face with syrup as you pour the syrup, and they would think it's just as good.
00:26:01
Speaker
as amazing. as a time it took you to create a painting, a Van Gogh, if you will. Like, it's just, just slap those blueberry eyes and call it, baby. Blueberries go a long way. Unless your child doesn't like blueberries and you're screwed. they Yeah, you gotta figure something He had to figure something else out in that in that moment.
00:26:26
Speaker
every time Oh my God, it's so funny. Okay, let's talk let's talk educational toys. You know, this goes mixed reviews. here This goes mixed reviews. um One, because we had an incredible guest on last season.
00:26:42
Speaker
And her boxes, it was learning with Kelsey and her boxes. i it's the way that she thought about them was so different. Now I'm talking about these, like the ones that you buy, like your leapfrog, your V tech, your, you know, and you're getting them with the purpose of like, my child's going to learn from this.
00:27:03
Speaker
I'll be really honest with you. I'll be really honest. I do not think my children have ever learned. any It's fun for them to play with. i don't think that has ever been the reason that they have learned something.
00:27:15
Speaker
I'll be honest. One thousand percent. Like those that i can specifically remember, it's a leapfrog book. everybody gets it at some point in their life. A thousand words and it also gives you the Spanish option. I think i don't know. Maybe my kids just didn't understand the vibe, but like they're like pressing on it and they're just like, it's meant to be educational. It's meant to teach them. like Oh, another another great brand. Baby Einstein.
00:27:42
Speaker
They have tons of different languages and tells you the colors. My kid's there for the song. The little jam they have going on. Like, they're really not um absorbing what this has meant. Now, they will absorb from Miss Rachel.
00:28:00
Speaker
Yeah, 100%. Yeah. a hundred percent yeah Or, like you mentioned, like the Kelsey boxes. Like, learning with Kelsey boxes. I'll give them a shout out because they really are amazing. And Avery to this day is still do using those. Because those are...
00:28:13
Speaker
a craft versus this electronic toy, like that keeps them engaged when they're trying to do a craft, when they're having to color or cut or glue, like it keeps them more engaged than these like educational toys that we're buying off the shelves.
00:28:31
Speaker
Yeah. It's hands-on in a different way. It's hands-on like the creative way. and I'm not saying anything against these toys. I'm just saying, I don't think my child has ever, it's always, you're right. It's always like they're going to the music mode. And I'm like, oh my God, if I have to listen to that song one more time. Now, do we have a million of them?
00:28:49
Speaker
Yes. Absolutely. Of course I do. Of course i want to buy the Gabby's doll house, house V tech little book because it's Gabby's doll house. Of course. Like absolutely got to have that, you know?
00:29:01
Speaker
And again, it's just one of those things we pretend to love. We're going to pretend to love it as parents. Is it actually educating our children? Probably not. They're probably just looking at the the wonderful colors of Gabby at this point. All the different things that she has, you know? yeah Fairy, panty paws, you know, whatever. Who's in this book, you know? um But with that combined too, we've got, and this is going to be a hot take for sure, because I know,
00:29:28
Speaker
in I would consider me and Annie like halfway crunchy moms. We're not full moms because we balance, you know, but I think this is gonna be a hot take because if you are a country mom, you probably are very, very much into um this. And that is um Montessori everything.
00:29:52
Speaker
And listen, I went to a Montessori school. I can, I can say that I can vouch. I think Montessori schools are amazing, but I also do think at some point they need some structure. Like I need, I need, they're not doing the laundry at home, you know, like, yeah.
00:30:08
Speaker
Yeah. Learn some structure out in the for for the world as well. Yeah. So I think that's a very much of a big hot take because I know Montessori people who are very, very strongly for Montessori are very, very strongly for them. And I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I think that's, you know, I think there's just people learn in different ways. This is one of those things that, cause you know, that ties into with the toy stuff because now they, that's how they advertise it. This is a Montessori toy. And it's like, yeah, it's the same. Yeah. Boy, is that toy though? Like what makes this one free versus this set of blocks, you know? Yeah.
00:30:48
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Cause it's a lot of the wooden stuff, right? Like a lot of like the, blocks Yeah. things like that which don't remember my kid yeah you're up that kitchen daily they're all up and oh sorry kitchen um so some like i think it's one of those like to ease their own but i do think sometimes it can be overhyped Because just because it says Montessori, it's either going to cost more or, you know, like it makes you seem more like, I don't know, but like like I said, kind of crunchy or like, I'm better than that kind of vibe. Yeah. Montessori. And it's like, not necessarily like this, chart you know, Good and Gather has the same.
00:31:27
Speaker
It's not Good and Gather. Right. well What the brand is. Good and Gather. No. Yeah, I agree. Like my thing is like, if it's cute and I think my kids will like it.
00:31:38
Speaker
I'll get it. If... it's not going to sway me one way or another. I'll put it that way. You know, like if I'm like, Oh, the kids are like this. Great. Like I don't, if it says Montessori on it, cool. If it doesn't also cool like, you know, great.
00:31:51
Speaker
I'm not gravitating towards those, um, those toys, not to say that you shouldn't, if that's what you enjoy and your child enjoys it. But for me, I'm like, neither here. Okay. Yeah. Neither here nor there. Yeah.
00:32:02
Speaker
yeah I mean, again, if that's your vibe, if that's, we're not here to yuck on your yum. Okay. Like we are just here. to to say that I feel like sometimes this can be overhyped by parents because they're like, oh, well, this is Montessori.
00:32:18
Speaker
and you know And you're like, okay, well, mine's Walmart and it's the same thing. but well In my mind, too, I'm also like, what do you mean? Like, i I don't know if I fully understand, like... Montessori. what that Yeah, like, what that means. So, and I have three kids. I'm still like, huh? with that They teach themselves. Would? What? I'm confused. teach themselves, basically. Like, there's guidance, but, like, they teach themselves, and it's...
00:32:44
Speaker
I don't know. And I think that's great. I think that's such a great way. But there's a lot of people that don't learn that way, you know, more as a disadvantage. So, yeah, it's just, you know, like I said, not trying to yuck on your yum if this is your vibe. Just keep on. Yeah, we're not judging.
00:33:01
Speaker
But I think it's just overhyped for sure. hmm. Mm hmm. Yeah. Yeah. right i I don't disagree with you there. okay let's do like a rapid fire.

Rapid-Fire Parenting Topics

00:33:14
Speaker
overrated, necessary evil. I'm like not, I'm not discussing this. Like that's, that's our three options. Overrated, necessary evil, or I'm not discussing this. I'm going to spit out the first one. We can kind of just go back and forth and it is what it is.
00:33:30
Speaker
School drop off small talk. Overrated. Don't talk to me.
00:33:38
Speaker
This is so true. was going to say, first I say necessary evil because it really is like the necessary evil, but overrated. No, no. Again, this ties in perfect to the early mornings. Like, it is not peaceful. have just fought three wars to get here. Don't talk me. Yeah.
00:33:56
Speaker
Yeah. And I not only have to leave here and go like head home, but like I've got to go now got to go work. So like my brain is not good morning. How are you? How was your weekend? Okay. Bye. Yeah.
00:34:08
Speaker
Like it's nothing. It's honestly nothing against you. But I have got to save my social battery for the people I have to talk to at work. yeah Like, it's truly nothing against you. It's just. It belongs to them. the social battery belongs to them. The social battery has a limit. And I cannot waste it on you to this morning.
00:34:28
Speaker
Overrated. All right. This one, I feel like I i know what we're both going to say. But volunteering. This one's tough for me. This one's tough for me.
00:34:39
Speaker
It's a necessary evil. I was just about to say, I think I have to, so I think I have to land on necessary evil, right? Like there's, I could say like, I don't know if you could really say overrated, I guess, but like, I say I'm not discussing this because I'm like, because you're like, you sign up for it and you're like yeah, I'm going to do volunteering. And then the time comes like, oh yeah, I'm going to do volunteering. Yeah. But then like once you're there, like for me, like like once I'm there, I'm like so happy that I'm doing it. I'm meeting new people and I'm like, oh my gosh, the the kids are going to love this. They're going to see this. going whatever. I'm like, you know.
00:35:12
Speaker
So yeah, I think I got land Necessary Evil. Has to be Necessary Evil. I mean, first of all, you got a clock in your hours, right? Every school now demands parents have at least like 20 plus hours of volunteer. Got to clock them in. So it's necessary in that sense. But but yeah, Necessary Evil, specifically for field trips. We have discussed this in previous episodes. But yeah.
00:35:30
Speaker
Like I'm not here to discipline someone else's child. I barely have a good time disciplining my own. They don't listen to me. So yeah, volunteering definitely going to be and necessary evil.
00:35:41
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. All right. What about toy organization systems? This is a toss up between overrated and necessary evil. And the only reason I say that is because for me personally, love it. Give me the organization, give me the color code, give me the buckets, give me the baskets, give me everything. However, are they being used to the best ability that I need them to be used at?
00:36:05
Speaker
Are they being put away in an organizational manner ah for my satisfaction? no So in that sense, overrated. Okay.
00:36:18
Speaker
I'm going to say necessary evil because It's like one of those, it's like, i've I've got to have all this shit. I have got to have all of this shit to put the shit in.
00:36:29
Speaker
The shit for the shit. Like, it's got to all go somewhere. and it may as well be in, like, as organized of baskets as it can. Now, do my kids keep it organized? To your point, no.
00:36:41
Speaker
But for me, it's like a necessary evil because umm I've got to remain. I've got to have some sanity here in this. 1000%. I mean, I agree. Like, as I said, it's like a little bit of both, but mainly overrated for my children. Basically, because I'm just like, I don't care about your boxes or your color coding system or putting these. Just put it in the bucket at this point. I don't even care.
00:37:03
Speaker
I mean, her just put it away. I'm tired of stepping in the damn Lego. Um, I know this one for both of us already, but cute outfits for the kids.
00:37:15
Speaker
Necessary evil. And it's not even a necessary evil, you guys, because I love to dress my kids cute. It becomes a necessary evil when you have something coming up and you're like, oh shoot, i like I want to dress them in like a really cute outfit for this. But you have like a week to find the outfit and get the outfit. you know That's when it becomes like a necessary evil. But you and I love to dress our kids up cute. And it's just it's just so fun.
00:37:37
Speaker
And even a bonus if they can all match. like It's just... I would say this is a necessity. Yes. But I'm with you. I think when it becomes a necessary evil and I can give you the perfect example of when it becomes a necessary evil, family pictures.
00:37:53
Speaker
Mm hmm. nothing necessary evil like family pictures and that combination just right. um Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. no but That's a nightmare.
00:38:04
Speaker
A nightmare for sure. Other than that, dress them cute. I love them. I love seeing them cute. I will look disheveled 1000%. Yeah. They will always look on point. Always. Always. unless then they Unless they go and like try to like pick out their own outfits and you're like, oh no, I'm just going to steer you this way. like Let's look at this instead. um but yeah, I'm right there with you. Okay, last one.
00:38:26
Speaker
is like save the best for last. Screen time guilt. Like, do I feel guilty? Is that what that means? Like, Screen time. Yeah. like Me feeling guilty.
00:38:37
Speaker
That's what it's. That's what it sounds like to me. Yeah. Screen time, like being guilty over giving your kids screen time. Overrated. i don't feel guilty at all. Mine is, I'm not discussing this because the screen time that I give my kids is none of your damn business. True. It's none of your damn business. Like, it yeah it truly is not I couldn't agree more. But that's why I think it's overrated. Like, why does it why why does it matter to you what my screen time policy is? Like, you have your policy. You're not going to make me feel guilty, right? like No,
00:39:10
Speaker
if If your kids don't get, screen you know, get maybe an hour of screen time a week, great. That's, I'm so happy for you. If you give your kids screen time every single day, okay, great. I'm happy for you. Like, as long as it's like a healthy dosage and, you know, you're doing what you think is right for your kid, then okay, there's no, you should have, you should hold no guilt there. so I'm like, I'm good. No guilt. Even even if you...
00:39:35
Speaker
you know, even if it's not a healthy dosage, I don't care. Did you get the things done that you needed to do? Were your kids happy? Were your kids fed? Were your kids hydrated and healthy and left you alone for whatever task you had to do which is why you had screen time for so long?
00:39:51
Speaker
Good yeah for you. Happy for you. Yep. That was great. Listen, nothing makes nothing makes dinner time easy than turning on like a little show or something that's more like an active show like Danny Go. When we first discovered Danny Go with you guys, I remember going home when the next day Greg was gone. I was trying to cook dinner and they were just like bouncing off the walls. And I'm like let's bounce off the walls, but in a like active way. And I put him on. I'm like, this man helped me cook dinner tonight. Mm-hmm. it was not it was not just me in the kitchen it was danny go like helping me night and yes he was in the kitchen helping me cook so i mean stuff like that i'm all for it and honestly like i wouldn't even consider danny go or miss rachel screen time because they're practic that's school time okay like they're happy they're learning they're being active they're moving their bodies like
00:40:43
Speaker
I'm here for it. that I wouldn't even consider that screen time. I'm like, oh, what they do today. Oh, they went to class with Danny Goh. and His name's Danny. You mean Bobby? No, Danny. just danny like It was Danny. They did their exercises with Coach Danny today. like That's what they did. i'm Do not consider Coach Dan.
00:41:03
Speaker
Coach Dan. Yeah, no. i Yeah. it's That's your prerogative. That's between You and the Lord, and I can promise you the Lord ain't going to judge you when you get up to those pearly white gays. You had how much screen time for your children? i was about to say, not going to listen.
00:41:18
Speaker
There's a lot of other things he can probably pull up. Okay. Other than your screen time to be like, you oh yeah you there's do you want to come up here with me? Yeah. yeah there's there's There's different things he can be pulling up. Screen time is the least of his worries. Okay. The least. That's like the the bottom of the totem pole. Like he probably doesn't even look at it. It probably just automatically gets deleted because there's no time to even discuss. yeah let's be No time to discuss it at all. um Okay. I realized I forgot one more on this list.

Episode Conclusion & Listener Engagement

00:41:49
Speaker
Oh. This wine. Oh my God. ah ah The only reason I'm saying necessary evil because we have to have a wine of the night um and even one evil this wine is evil. Yeah.
00:42:03
Speaker
I would say I'm not discussing this, but like we have to discuss it because we always discuss our wine. But like after this, I'm going to go tell Greg it was good. So he'll drink a glass and then I'm not discussing I'm not discussing this. i Honestly, I think it's like burning my esophagus, like because it's just like it doesn't understand like what's going through my body.
00:42:23
Speaker
Yeah, I'm kind of bummed because the label was really pretty. like The website is so beautiful. Yes, the wineries, like all the little like chateaus, they're so beautiful.
00:42:35
Speaker
And they have so many different wines, so many different like um chateaus and like castle like their properties. So maybe there's others out there. But this is not for me,
00:42:46
Speaker
Never. Never. No, this is not the one So if you've ever had this brand and you've tried a different one, that is a good one. Please let us know. I would love to give it a go of something that is not this specifically.
00:43:03
Speaker
Yeah, but just know if we don't like it, we're going to be judging your wine, um your wine taste buds. Yeah. Perhaps we'll give you some suggestions. We may steer you in a different direction.
00:43:15
Speaker
Yeah, I don't even know where my rating is with this. Like, I'm just a little confused. I think have one to be nice. You what?
00:43:26
Speaker
think I have my quirking. You mean, like, for your quirking? Yeah, my quirking, yeah. i have I think I have my quirking. um Okay, but you said to be nice. to um You're being nice?
00:43:37
Speaker
Like a point two, to be kind. Okay. Oh, that's nice. just always kind of feel bad going so long, you know? all right. Let me taste one more time. i Maybe i need one more step to just solidify. Maybe any need a solidification.
00:43:51
Speaker
Even though it literally like, I feel like I need a tux or something. Like I'm ready. I know. I'm like, God only knows what this is going to do to my poor tummy. yeah Like it's like in my chest.
00:44:03
Speaker
Yeah. It's it's go get on the jiggler, get on the jiggler and let it on the jig let it work its way. Work back out. Yeah. Work its way out of there. Okay. That's TMI. Okay. Um, okay. I think that I'm ready.
00:44:17
Speaker
i just hope nobody from this winery ever comes across this episode. don't know how they would, but you know, it's just like hurts going down. Honestly, it's painful. Like I, it's almost like I feel it like very gently.
00:44:31
Speaker
Like a little trickle. All right. So you have yours. Is yours like nice or kind or you're now going straight for it? I mean, no it's not nice.
00:44:42
Speaker
mind I'm curious what yours is because watch yours be not nice. And then like, I'll give you mine thinking I was being nice. And it's like the same number.
00:44:51
Speaker
Mine's 3.9. Oh, definitely nice. and Okay. i'm Like 3.9.
00:45:00
Speaker
What is it? Give it to us. Mine was mine was a three five. oh okay. There you go. Not bad, but not good either, are you guys. My point to oomph.
00:45:12
Speaker
I know. My God. i know. I was not breaking the four threshold. I was like, uh-uh. that's That's why I'm laughing because I'm like, watch, your my number's actually worse and i'm thinking I'm being nice. And it was.
00:45:26
Speaker
Oh, my God. Well, there you go, guys. There you have it. This is a wine that we, the wine mamas would not recommend. No. Honestly, just, I mean, the content of the episode was great, but like, skip the wine, you know?
00:45:40
Speaker
Don't skip on it. Yeah, listen, we listen we started off we started off with such a strong red um for episode one. People, I'm going to speak on that real quick. I know we don't like to speak on other wines, but people were shocked. We got, we did get lots of DMs when we posted the on results of that wine because people were shocked that for the first wine to be so high.
00:46:05
Speaker
It has never been that high for a first wine of season. Of a season. Yeah. Yeah. I was blown away. And I know like at the end of the season, we always take a recap of like funniest moments, favorite wines, like red and white, blah, blah, blah. Like,
00:46:20
Speaker
I'm like, okay, well, crap. Are we both going to have, like, did we both already have our favorite red maybe our favorite wine overall of the season? Like, in season, in episode one? It's only downhill from here.
00:46:32
Speaker
It's only, it has been downhill. It literally, i mean, we're only on the third episode, but, like, it's only been downhill. her episode So, I mean, seems fitting. Third episode, dipping into the threes for corking. oh Yeah, okay.
00:46:47
Speaker
Yeah, it tracks. It tracks. Well, you know, if you guys have any other overrated, overhyped things that we maybe didn't touch on that you're like, okay, I need y'all's take on this, shoot us a DM. We'd love to hear from you. I don't have anything. i I can't think of any because we kind of said them all, but I'm like trying to think of any fun ones. But yeah, you if we you guys want to, you know, get in on the suggestions, pass them our way. Jamina is always on the Instagram DM. So shoot them over. I'm nosy in there.
00:47:20
Speaker
I like to mosey my way in there. Eventually, eventually mosey my way through the TikTok one. So. Yeah, she gets she gets there eventually, you guys. um But, you know, I'm not going to finish this wine. So that's a wrap. That's our show. That is all the overhyped tea we have for today. Thank you so much for listening. Don't forget to rate and review us on whatever platform you're listening on. As always, tell all your friends and keep on whining.
00:47:48
Speaker
Cheers.
