Introduction and Nostalgia

Welcome to Wine Mama, podcast where two bestie moms whine while they whine. I'm Jamina. And I'm Annie. Let's whine. And I just have to say, as what's his what's his name? Travis Tritt?
00:00:14
Speaker
No. It's a great day to be loved. That's not Travis Tritt. Who is that? My sun still shines when I close my eyes. um First of all, you're welcome for that beautiful serenade that you just walked into. um so Yeah, guys you guys, you weren't expecting that. I know that's not Travis Tritt, but now it's going to bug the back on me. But I'm saying that that melody came to mind because the biggest frigging concert just got announced.
00:00:43
Speaker
Is it Travis Tritt? Yes. Yes. Nailed it. Nailed it. yeah um The biggest...

Parenting Challenges and Anecdotes

00:00:51
Speaker
concert since probably the Ares tour got announced. we're not going to talk too much about it right now, but got announced just a couple of days ago yesterday. Well, as we're recording, literally just got announced. So that's all that's on our mind. But other than that, how's it going?
00:01:08
Speaker
How's it going? We're back. And another week, another week has passed. And the fact that we're in the final week of January already is like mind blowing because sometimes January feels like 89 days long. Yet this one, to me, at least it felt pretty fast just because...
00:01:26
Speaker
we're already on the last week of January. Like, what? That's crazy. yeah So, you know, things are just moving along, moving along. you know, some days it's like, what time is just like too fast. And other days I'm like, it's not fast enough.
00:01:39
Speaker
Today I'm on the too fast train. honest Okay, okay. And sometimes sometimes that's not sometimes that's not awful for it to feel like that. It just kind of depends on what the day is and what the day has in store. But how are the kids? hows How's been? I know you had a tough week last week with... ah Solo parenting, man. Yes.
00:02:00
Speaker
We're back to work travels. We're back in the routine of things. so yeah, i survived all week, which is wonderful. You know, I was telling people like we don't, we have the rule that there is no TV in our house Monday through Thursday.
00:02:15
Speaker
um it just distracts the kids in the morning when I need to get them to like be fed and like put on their clothes and get out of the house. So I made that rule and honestly has worked very, very beautifully. um Not to say that there are times that we break that rule if necessary, because some days are very much necessary. We all do. We all break the rule. Let's be honest. Right. well Let's be honest. But I like to think that that's the crunchiness in me that I can at least partake in that. So um not successfully, like not 100%, but know I try my best. Right.
00:02:49
Speaker
But yeah, other than that, like, you know, kids are good. um Becca got to sleep with me in the bed. That's the only time our children get to sleep in the bed with us is hurricanes and um when one parent's out of town. And so Honestly, on only Beckett. He knows. And he's like, yes, I get to sleep in there. yeah um And yeah, and then Avery is just, Avery, full of sass per usual. She now, um like the way she speaks, sometimes I'm like, hold, girl. Like it's like those videos of like, remember when like they couldn't form full sentences and now like it's like a full on paragraph the way she speaks. She's three. Like some of the things that she says, I'm just like, like I'll give her her food and I'll be like here's your food. And she'll be like, thank you. Enjoy.
00:03:37
Speaker
Just like that. Thank you. Enjoy. I'm like, oh yeah, I'm sorry. Enjoy. Stuff that just comes out of their mouth and like you you're here to you're here to cater to that to them. Like, and that is how they treat you. It's like, okay, thanks. Bye girl. You know, like.
00:03:53
Speaker
literally like i had to get her up for bed or something she was reading a book on the couch which i love i love that she loves books she literally loves to read and look at books and pictures and i was like all right avery come on she's like paint she literally like paused like with her book in her hands she said patience mama patience bella always tells me patience and i'm like excuse me girl get upstairs like yeah me and Bella are gonna have a conversation because my better lose her patience yeah like my patience left eight hours ago like what so yeah so that's where we're at we're at that three major full three major stage um but other than that
00:04:35
Speaker
we survived, right? And it's a new week. Surviving, not thriving. Surviving, not thriving. And sports are back. Sports are back. You guys, sports are back and it is cold. Okay. At eight 30 in the morning, mama wore mama wore a parka last week.
00:04:50
Speaker
That's how cold it was. So, um, but it kind of stinks this season just because Beckett and Avery's have it at the exact same time at 830. So we have to alternate parenting. So like right one week I do flag football. Thankfully, it's like the same field because it's such a huge complex. So we just have to like walk. but um But it's sad because you know you want to like it worked out last last season where we I could right We could both watch Avery at least do the practice part and then they would have to go to flag football. But, you know, I digress. Also, Becca is like the tallest person and his team. So it's like five to five to six years old, I think, is the yeah range. And i think a lot of them are like just turned five. he like towers over them and gets so frustrated when he he's like, i want to run the ball. But it's like everybody has to have a turn. Right, right. and He's like, he's like no i want to play. You know, oh that's where we're at. That's where we're thriving, you know, surviving vibes.

Kids' Activities and College Tours

00:05:50
Speaker
But how how's it going over there? How are the kiddos over there? How's life? What's been going on? How has this past week been rolling for you guys?
00:05:58
Speaker
Um, it's been good. So I realized after our last episode, like where we left off in season six and started back up in season seven, I realized that we had Aubrey on on towards the end of the season, but like we had our college tours while we were on break from wine mama. So, Um, I'm not going to give an update. Maybe we'll have her on later this season to talk about them. Maybe we'll skip, you know, go to the next season who knows. Um, but it's really cool getting to do a college tour with your child. Like it's very surreal feeling.
00:06:32
Speaker
Um, especially when you go to like somewhere where you've graduated from and you're walking that campus and you're Holy crap. Like this is crazy that I'm now the one like touring with my child. Um, but just in general, it's like a really cool,
00:06:46
Speaker
experience and like learning and like just seeing these things now through like your children's eyes, like what their thoughts are about, um just everything that people are saying and all the opportunities and stuff like that. So that was really cool. But yeah, i realized after last episode, I was like, wait, there's been a gap where like we did these tours while we talked about them on the last season, but we had not done them. So, um, so yeah, we're looking to do more. We'll see, we'll see where it lands, but That's kind of where it's at for Aubrey right now. And then like you said, sports have started back up. Kennedy is in lacrosse, which is so exciting. So we were kind of dabbling in it in the fall. Like she tried it out. She really liked it. Two of her friends did it with her. They enjoyed it as well.
00:07:32
Speaker
now we all joined this team and it runs from January through April. So it's like a true lacrosse season. And it's just so fun watching her do this sport. That's so exciting.
00:07:44
Speaker
new to us like greg kind of dabbled in it um a little bit so like he has knowledge of lacrosse but like it's just not something that's down in the south right it's very much like a northern sport it's extremely popular um up there so it's just it's been so fun to watch her like try out this new sport and learn. And like, I'm learning right there along with her. Cause I'm like, I don't know. Like, i don't know the rules. Like how many people are out there? Like, can you, can you hit people with your stick? Like that's a girl's, the girls is a very different than the boys. Like there's a lot of things that you can't do on the girls team. Right. Then you can, that you can do on the boys. So that's been, um, that's been really exciting.
00:08:26
Speaker
Yeah. And then for Charlie, I was laughing because now, not currently in this moment of us recording, but once this episode drops, we will have had kids Gasparilla. So kids Gasparilla is coming up. And the following weekend, it is adults Gasparilla. It's a great time. If you don't know Gasparilla is, I think I've talked about it before. It is basically kind of like a Mardi Gras. The easiest way to explain it, but it's pirate themed and it's in Tampa. Um, it's not as crazy as Mardi Gras, but people are cuckoo bananas for the adult parade. Like it's wild. And so they have a separate kids one. Um, but because some pirates, some of like the crew, cause you can be a part of these crews.
00:09:09
Speaker
And it's just, it's, it's a really, really cool thing here in Tampa, but pirates come and visit her school before Gasparilla every year. Yeah. And they give the kids beads and they're all like, they're full head to toe, like pirate garb. Well, she is saying that it is her parade. So we're talking about like, Oh, we're going to like see your friends tomorrow. oh we're going to go go to my parade. And I'm like,
00:09:32
Speaker
i don't I don't ever remember you being Miss Gasparilla, but yes, we can call it your parade if you'd like. And so then we were talking about beads and outfits. Oh yeah. Like for my, for my, for my Gasparilla parade.
00:09:47
Speaker
And I'm like, ah, she owns that parade now, baby. I'm like, I don't think you're the grand, i think it's called the grand marshal. I'm like, I don't think you're the grand marshal of the Gasparilla. Like if you were, if you were, you they would be, then you'd be the best one they ever had. But literally I would, I would come. Unfortunately we we can't come this year, but like I would,
00:10:06
Speaker
on RSVP all the birthday parties just to make it to see Charlie as the Grand Marshal. you Could you imagine? But it's just been so funny. She's like, my parade? Oh, like my parade tomorrow? I'm like, yeah, I guess because the pirates came visited her school and they were dressed up. And it's this whole thing. Now it's her Her Gasparilla Parade. So now that this episode drops. Personal invite.
00:10:27
Speaker
Yeah. Now this episode drops after the kids Gasparilla Parade. Just know that you guys, if you went, that was Charlie's Parade that you attended. So you're welcome that we extended the invite to all of our thousands of our closest to friends lining Bayshore in Tampa. Locals of Tampa. Yeah.
00:10:45
Speaker
So it's hers. um But woo-wee, is the end of the week for us. And I think it's time to wine with our wine of the week.

Wine Introduction and Tasting

00:10:55
Speaker
Yes, please. Because I am actually very excited. It's a new varietal for us because I i don't not recall ever trying this type of wine.
00:11:07
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. So this week we are drinking the Martine Codex Albarino. And i will credit you with finding this one because you guys, it's so easy to come across like a Chardonnay, a Pinot Grigio, a Sauvignon Blanc. We went to go white this week. This last week was red. So we try to alternate.
00:11:23
Speaker
But it's so easy to find like the well known varietals that everyone knows and everyone drinks. So finding something different isn't always easy that both ja me and I can get. so I'm very excited about this wine. So Martine Kodaks was founded in 1985 and was named after the most known Galician troubadour, whose medieval poems, the oldest of Galician Portuguese language with the original music, are preserved.
00:11:48
Speaker
In the poems, the troubadour sings to the love and to the sea. Since its founding, Martine Kodaks has grown and developed, always supporting its people, its land, and its culture. So this this little troubadour must have been quite something.
00:12:00
Speaker
This troubadour is just troubadourin. Troubadourin. What is it called? Galician. Galician, Portuguese language, original music, poems. like he Could you imagine this little... like what was I imagine like ah a fiddle fiddle. A fiddle. bit you I was just about to say, imagine this man like galloping through like the Spanish hills and like do-do-do-do-do-do, his little fiddle team poems. I literally, that's not what I imagined when we like discussed it. Same. same But the good thing about them is that they focus on the environment. And we always talk about this and how it makes us very, very happy. And we instantly give like high corking,
00:12:40
Speaker
in our brains before even trying because of this, but focuses on the environment, always looking for the sustainable option and reducing its carbon footprint. Actually, its projects are channeled to reduce the environmental impact in viticulture and to combat the effects of climate change. Promoting sustainability is an objective for all the winery staff, making this a priority of all the members of the team. And I will say the current winemaker is a female. So shout out to our Martin Kodak's queen out there just living life. I cannot remember her name. I want to say it's Katya, but I can't remember. little queenie. Queenie with being the head winemaker. So a little bit about the Albarino grape.
00:13:26
Speaker
Albarino is the main grape of the Appalachian and one of the most known of Galicia. Its bunches and berries are small, allowing it for an early ripening. It is a sweet and lingering grape with high levels of sugar and acidity, which gives the wines an amazing freshness. So...
00:13:43
Speaker
fingers are fingers across. It does say that it is, um, better cold or like, um, what's the word I'm looking for?
00:13:54
Speaker
Served best chilled. Chilled is the proper term. apologies. Yes. Um, But the Martin Kodak's Albarino is a medium body, delicate white wine with a crisp, dry finish. So it is on the drier side when it comes to the Albarino wines. um On the palate, notes of pear, passion fruit, ripe apple, peach, and lemon zest. So we're starting off citrusy, right? We're thinking very sweet, but also dry.
00:14:24
Speaker
i'm But it's also framed with a bright minerality and hints of spice. attractive floral aromatics and brisk acidity make this versatile and food-friendly spanish wine so yeah it's two different vibes here i'm feeling i'm feeling floral sweetness fruits and i'm also feeling spice dry there's a lot there's a lot of There's a lot of things happening here, but that doesn't, you know, we will be the judge of that. The price point is very fair. It is anywhere between like $13 $18. So we found ours at ABC. I think you said that Target has it as well. So it is yeah, it is widely, widely available. Are we, I'm a little nervy, I'll be honest. Are we ready to give it a try?
00:15:12
Speaker
Yes, I'm hopeful. I really want it to be. It's like a very like pale yellow looking. so it's giving dry. um it's It doesn't smell horrible. Yeah. I've smelled worse. How about that?
00:15:31
Speaker
I've smelled. Yes. Yes. I will. I will agree with you there. We'll go with that. all right. Ready? Okay. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers.
00:15:46
Speaker
I need one more sip. I don't think that first one was. There's the apple. There she is.
00:15:56
Speaker
is that a lemon zest I'd taste? um It's definitely, I don't know. i think it's I think this may be one of those wines that the more you drink it, the battering gets.
00:16:10
Speaker
That's not so bad. I don't want use the word, I don't know if this is the right word. Tart. Yeah. I mean, i think that's the dryness of it. Like, I think I was more expecting more sweetness than tartness. Yeah. It is the dryness, but it's like more than the dryness. it's almost like the dry and the lemon together.
00:16:28
Speaker
It's got a little zang to it, a little pizang. Maybe that's the spices. It does have. the spices. Who knows? Like I said, I think it's one of those I just have to like keep drinking to really examine. um Let's start with the positive. It's drinkable. Okay.
00:16:45
Speaker
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. We can do, listen, listen. I had a glass of wine at dinner. I'm having another glass of wine now. so I'm already glass of wine deep, okay?
00:16:55
Speaker
So we finish. Okay. Okay.
00:17:00
Speaker
And we're about to go into a pop culture episode, which is like, i think it's my favorite episode that we do. Well, no, I can't say that because I love when you and I just like chat. I love when we have our guests.
00:17:11
Speaker
I love our beginning app, you know? Yeah, but it's like so like when we talk pop culture, it's so fun because we, you and I both are like very, not invested, but just we love to be like, oh did you hear about this? did you see this? but we All this stuff. So I'm so, do we want to start with like,
00:17:29
Speaker
The good, the bad, we want to like dabble in. Like where do we want to dabble first? We have so many things to discuss. I think should maybe like dip into bad first and get it out of the way. I think we need to dip into drama. Like there's lots of drama that has happened recently. Like just draw like literally drama. That's the only way I can explain it. Like drama, Just things being exposed and there's things that, you know, I'm seeing two different lights on, if

Celebrity Drama and Pop Culture

00:17:59
Speaker
you will. And that is specifically the Brooklyn Beckham versus the Beckham family drama. yes i just have a, very I don't know. I'm just having a very hard time with it. Like I would hate to, I can see, let's see.
00:18:14
Speaker
I can see Mrs. Spice girl you bill spicy being spicy in the sense that he's ins describing it. But I just don't. David Beckham is like a genuinely, like just has always seemed like a genuinely nice guy.
00:18:27
Speaker
Now, when this is my opinion on it. So if you don't know what the drama is, essentially Brooklyn Beckham finally came on his Instagram and basically ex exposed his family saying that he's been controlled his whole life. You know, it started with a we the wedding dress for Nicola that literally like two days before their wedding, you know, she was supposed to wear Beckham, Victoria Beckham original. And she like backed out of it a bit was like, no, we're not doing this. Victoria Beckham backed out of it.
00:18:54
Speaker
And um so that kind of like spiraled. And And I can and completely understand how that can be so upsetting and disheartening. However, like you're loaded.
00:19:09
Speaker
go, it's a wedding dress. Like, go find the one of your dreams if it's not custom made. Yeah. Yeah. I, like, agree with I'm very on the fence about it because, one, i'm i understand where you're coming from, but it's also, like, that is, like, you're offering to, like, make my dress, like, you're my my mother-in-law, and then you're back backing out at the last minute, and you have to, like imagine, like, just imagine, like, that But oh like the stress for sure. There's just but my thing is, i don't we don't know this. You all right. Like you see what the media shows you. And i get like keeping up appearances and, you know, things like that. He he mentioned things like that in his what he wrote on Instagram or his post or whatever, talking about like just being there to smile for cameras and bla bla blah, blah, blah. I'm like, I get that.
00:20:02
Speaker
But I also like if you if you are with someone and you become so estranged from your family, that just doesn't sit right with me. Like there is like no reason that someone should become that estranged from their family.
00:20:20
Speaker
but other Because of your signature. there's some, kind there's something. There's a disconnect. There's a disconnect there. Something is going on So this one's really tough for me to be like, yeah,
00:20:33
Speaker
Not so find a pick a side, but yeah, like pick a side of like who I believe is like in the right here. Yeah. And that's how, that's honestly how I feel, but I've just been fed also like the rich privilege side of it. And I've been fed like you, that's what started it. And that's why you are now estranged from your family that literally gave you everything. And yeah, you know what, if I was Victoria Beckham and David Beckham, I would have control too. Like we're very high powered people with a lot of money. Like I need to make sure that if you're going to show up in an appearance, like show the face, you know, be the, be, be the family, you know, whatever. Like, yes. But like the whole getting lawyers involved and like the back and forth and, you know, like it's not Nicola and like we just want to live a private life, live a private life.
00:21:17
Speaker
And yet they're not living a private life because they're doing ads, they're doing campaigns, they're doing right lots of things that was not private. Like if you wanted to live a private life, you would be Justin Bieber and Haley Bieber. Right. Yeah. literally it's um It's almost like it started to quiet down a little bit. And then Nicola was probably like, make, make a statement, make statement, do this, you know, don't know, but I just.
00:21:40
Speaker
That's what I'm saying. Like I, like I see both sides of it. So it's very hard to, you know, like I get it. Like, I hope it's not like to the extent that he feels, um, that would be so, so sad if that's really truly what it is. Right. Um,
00:21:55
Speaker
Because I get it. Because if you kind of think about it, like David Beckham is very, and Victoria Beckham both, they're very much. Beautiful. Do what? Beautiful. um that's not what you were going to say. Okay. I think gorgeous. I mean, don't get me started on how looks, please.
00:22:10
Speaker
Beyond my dreams. Like, absolutely gorgeous. What were you going to say? But what i was goingnna say is, like, they're kind of part of, like, the royal family. Like, you know, like, they're kind of like, in that, like, deep graded secrecy society of the royals are. I mean, David Beckham was knighted by the the king of England. Mm-hmm.
00:22:31
Speaker
So like I also understand like there are rules when it comes to that. Look at Meghan Markle. Like look at you know, like that's another like family like the memes that came out that was like Meghan Markle calling Nicola being like, yo, girl, I got you. I've yeah i've ruined a family before. Like I got you. That's another like one like I don't understand. This is your family. There's just so much. Yeah, we could go down such a like a winding road and twist and turn this so so many different ways. i just like It's wild to me. But another little drama that's a that's a brewing that I feel like it's quieted down as of now, but I feel like it's going to end up rearing its ugly head.
00:23:14
Speaker
is that mom group drama that was happening with like, Hilary Duff, Ashley Tisdale, Meghan Trainor. Mandy Moore is in that little group. And there's a few other moms who are in it. And basically, Ashley Tisdale coming out and saying that they're not supportive. It's super catty and all this stuff.
00:23:31
Speaker
um I'm so sorry. If you're saying that about Lizzie McGuire, think that you're actually the problem, Ashley, like, Lizzie McGuire doesn't cause the issues. Hilary Duff, Lizzie McGuire, no. She actually is fine.
00:23:45
Speaker
So I need you to... It's you, Sharpay. Yeah. You need to... year You're becoming too much like your character. i need you to go away. Okay. Well, I'm going to put this thought in your mind.
00:23:57
Speaker
She's estranged from her sister, Haley Duff. they have not They have not been in contact or sisterly or nothing for years. And when this article came ah out, Haley Duff liked it.
00:24:13
Speaker
Oh, ticky talky. Didn't feed you that. No. ram f be that Yeah. So there, um, that that kind of puts a new perspective and you're like, wait, what? But then, you know, they, um they have also had the publicists. Hey, um, why can't they actually still publicist say that it wasn't specifically about that mom group?
00:24:35
Speaker
Like, yeah. You know, and then Hillary Duff's husband made like a statement. made a comment. He made a statement about. What are your thoughts on that?
00:24:51
Speaker
I struggle with that because his was like, I'm pretty sure it was in like relationship, like her, like her parenting. Like, I don't want to skills, like her as a parent and as a mother. and i was like, o that's that's pretty that's pretty tough.
00:25:09
Speaker
That's a pretty low right? Didn't he say something about like? He, well first of all, he literally posted like the exact um replica of like the photo that she had taken, right?
00:25:24
Speaker
it was like, it was a photo. It was like he basically photoshopped himself. into the exact image of what the, of what Ashley Tisdale's article was. um She called, he called her the most self-obsessed tone deaf person on earth.
00:25:41
Speaker
That's what he said. That's a lot. I think he said something about like, Oh, this is what it says. When you're the most self-obsessed tone deaf person on earth, other moms tend to shift their focus to their actual toddlers with a subline that,
00:25:56
Speaker
like a sub headline that read a mom group tell all through a father's eyes. Yes. Yes. Basically saying that like her focus wasn't really like on the kids again. I don't know. um i don't know. That one's kind of tough for me, but I will say i was seeing some stuff that Hillary Duff just saying did a concert or something like a small concert in London.
00:26:22
Speaker
Yeah. And she sang some of like the like most like nostalgic. They're like, she posted something. She was like singing come clean for the first time in 10 years. I was like, oh my God, rip my heart out and just throw it in the trash can because that is, could you, i would be sobbing on the floor. Like that is a corps there's core, core, core memory.
00:26:45
Speaker
Oh my gosh. Yeah. Yeah. Like, you know, you have like your four food groups, but that's part of our food group. I'm clean by Hillary. But that's like, i don't want to believe it. I don't believe from either side. Like I, I didn't hate Ashley Tisdale. Like I know and i like her loved high school musical, like very big fan as well. So like, it's just very, um, interesting, but it's also interesting because it came to my attention.
00:27:10
Speaker
listening to another podcast, um, that she had actually posted this article on her blog in the past. It didn't gain any traction.
00:27:22
Speaker
And then i guess maybe someone found it and I don't know, like whatever magazine it was. Right. And brought it back to life. So it's like, right did we really have to post it twice? Like you already said those feelings. Like now I feel like you are kind of grasping for the attention. didn we have to resurface this? Yeah. Correct. Correct. But my thoughts on Hilary Dove's husband, i have like two separate thoughts. One, like not your business.
00:27:49
Speaker
Like, come on. Like don't get the male figure involved in the drama. There's a different way to support your wife.
00:28:01
Speaker
Right. or what Like I, I'm all for like you, like you have anyone, like if you have a partner, like that person needs to stand by you. There's a different way to stand by her in that circumstance. Like you don't have to throw somebody else down or beat somebody else up to support.
00:28:18
Speaker
or Or mimic, like literally he mimicked her exact article, like image to put her down. And and that was my other side of it, right? On the other side, of I'm like, hell yeah, i want my husband to defend me. Hell yeah, i want him to stand up for me. Like, heck yeah.
00:28:34
Speaker
But like you said. There's a different way to do that. So like that's like where the bad taste comes in. so yeah, I don't i i don't know. I don't know how to feel about that whole drama. You know, hope they figured it out. I saw a congratulations since we brought her up, but Meghan Trainor did just have her third baby via surrogacy and it's a girl. I'm very happy for her. do not know why. don't know. I think she had complications in her previous...
00:28:58
Speaker
shes Yep. She said, i think her quote or, you know, her statement was this was the healthiest way for them or safest or healthiest. to hear remember what she said. Way for them to grow their family. And I'm like, think that's so beautiful. Like good for her. Good for them. They are able to do.
00:29:15
Speaker
to do that. so i am So I'm so happy for them. But if we're talking about like support supportive people in your life. We cannot be remiss if we did not touch on our girl Taylor Swift backing up her best friend Blake Lively with these texts that just got released. You guys, I started reading them and like scrolling and I was like, someone's going to have to give me a like 30 second cliff note of these texts. ah Yeah.
00:29:44
Speaker
there's a lot, there's a lot to, lot to unload. There's a lot to unload, but, and I think a lot of it is coming under fire, right? Because it, it's being publicized to show like a negative, but at the end of the day, you guys, if this is your best friend, you're going to ride or die for them. Like if you don't have a best friend, that's going to ride or die for you, no matter what it is. Like if I ever were to tell you you, like, listen, I just murdered someone. Like she's going to ride or die for me. I was like, all right, let's go hide the body. Like, you know, all right, all right. Let's wait, you know, was I'm too crazy, but I'm just saying like, that's just an example. Like I would do it too. Like, so would you. And if you don't have a friend that would ride or die for you in the way that these text messages are, you know, doing, then you don't really have a good friend. Like you don't have a friend that is,
00:30:31
Speaker
would be there for you to support whatever you wanted done in life. You know, i chase a dream. I'm there to support you. You want to, you know, like, so I don't understand why it's being like, cause that's why they came out, right. There came out because the trial, I think the court date set and things are starting to like revamp, if you will. Like we all thought this was dead. Nah, guys. all coming back up Nope. All coming back up Yeah, no, i I, it's text messages between best friends that I'm asking you to support me and help me get a plan through. And yeah, I'm going to support you. I'm a ride or die. like
00:31:10
Speaker
it's It's tough because that because of who that best friend is, right? Like it's Taylor Swift. She is the most like talked about person. Like just she's such a big figure in pop culture and just like life in general. So the fact that like it's not just anyone that's her best friend, it's like Taylor Swift. So think that's why it's just being like thrown out there but listen everybody wants everybody wants that partner in crime that that ride or die so it'll listen court will shake out how it how it shakes out um so we'll we'll we'll see well we'll all we'll all stay tuned who knows maybe our pop culture episode towards the end of this season we may have a may have an update to share
00:31:55
Speaker
An update on the continuous drama that this is. Like, again, like, so. Like, Colleen Hoover has to be, like, hiding in a corner somewhere. Like, I'm not going to get into it, but, like, she's got to be hiding in a corner, you know? I feel for her. I feel for her because that book was so incredible, you guys. So incredible. But to finish all the drama and toxicity in this world. Let's talk about something that happened that is a personal devastation for Annie and myself because it is honestly soul crushing and disappointing and ain't like honestly like angering

Entertainment and TV Buzz

00:32:30
Speaker
at this point. Is angering a word? i don't know. Angry. Made us mad. um Frustrating. All the words. um And that is what was. the Ulta Beauty World ticket drop from something that was publicized, you know, as the, everyone's a VIP, you know, we're, we're bringing this event to Orlando. And I was so excited ever since I saw the last one last year, i was, I was like, I'm going to go to one of these this year. And when they announced it was in Orlando, I was like, hell yeah. that How easy. a backyard
00:33:00
Speaker
Yes. How easy. Yeah. Jokes on us. Jokes on us. If you didn't know, Ulta Beauty dropped the tickets. They were at 10 a.m. Eastern time on Wednesday, January 21st. And you guys, the chaos that ensued with the line holding, like people waited hours, including us. We waited a full hour. i even had Ben who was on a work trip in California log on And he, I mean, we love a supportive King. He was, he was ready to get a ticket. do
00:33:35
Speaker
he He actually made it all the way through you guys. He inputted my information. He, he got me the roller bag. he put the credit card and right when he hit submit sold out.
00:33:47
Speaker
Mm-hmm. And that was just 45 minutes deep into it. It is so wild to me. Like I never moved off of that one first dot. I got to like two one and a half dots. That's as far as I got. And then I finally was like, ah, it's sold out. Like, why am I still here? I had 15 dots total to go. Right.
00:34:05
Speaker
So the problem was, well, there's a lot of problems. Um, it was a, the tickets, there was 3000 tickets. And it was 3 million people on there. 3 million people trying to get on there. For a perspective, you have a one in a million chance to get ticket with that stat.
00:34:26
Speaker
Might as well pay the lottery. Yeah. And so 3,000 tickets, 3 million people trying to get on there. And some tickets had been given out before beforehand. Yeah.
00:34:38
Speaker
There's stuff coming out that there was like people were looking at. This is again, I'm so surface level. You guys, I've said this a million times. Like I don't, I, I just see, i look at what people are saying. I'm i'm like, I'm not going to dig into stuff. I don't have the time. i don't have the brain capacity. I'm not smart enough to look at code.
00:34:54
Speaker
People were looking code and seeing that like there were links that were saying like invite, like, Invite valid email, invite this, like that things were already given out. Influencers get were were getting tickets. And my thing was I saw a video and this girl was like, if you are an influencer and you took tickets...
00:35:13
Speaker
to this, you should be ashamed of yourself because how many products do you get for free? and that, and didn't even think it in that perspective. And it's like, it's, it's tough, right? Like if you're an influencer and you're getting products, that's part of like your job. And so that shouldn't really stop you from getting to go. Right. it's like, why do I have to miss out on this? Cause I'm like, I'm an employee. I, so it's hard.
00:35:38
Speaker
I don't know. That's a, like, it's like a double-edged sword or a, I see both sides of the coin or whatever the saying is. that one's kind of like tough for me because I see, i see both sides of it. um And, you know, and there's people saying like, make it a two day event, make it bigger, make it this.
00:35:54
Speaker
But there's so many logistics that go and because I'm like, yeah, make it a two day event or make it like double the size or do so I don't know. But then you have to think about all those brands.
00:36:07
Speaker
Think about all the product that those brands give out and imagine them doing it for two days. Now, I don't know if Ulta, I don't think Ulta pays those brands to be there. I'm assuming those brands pay themselves to be there and those products, that they are though that's all them. So imagine however much however many dollars that is and them doing that for two days or them making it even bigger so having like multiple booths for whatever brand right like i just like i don't know like it is so it was crazy to me like you guys got like so much further in the queue than i did but ended up xing out because i was like this is cuckoo bananas like who who is doing this but it just it it just sucks that it was it's here like your backyard hour down the road for me people are literally
00:36:59
Speaker
flying in, getting hotels like crazy. Like, I don't think I could ever do that. If it's like in like wherever next year. Yeah. I'm like, it was, yeah, it was in San Antonio last year I'm like I can't imagine just like buying a ticket, getting a hotel room, buying, like getting these ultra beauty world tickets and and doing all that. Like it was just kind of like signed, sealed and delivered that it was in Orlando and it sure was not signed, sealed, and delivered. and And the worst part about it is like it's non-transferable. So like the information that's on the ticket belongs to you. So if even if so if you don't make it, if you can't make it
00:37:35
Speaker
there's a loss of a ticket. And I honestly, like I borderline, like i do appreciate that in a sense, because people can't go and resell this for like $300. Like I get the why behind that, but also like it should be transferable if someone can't go like, tra like an evil transfer with the amount, like not like I'm paying you more. um Yeah, no, I'm like low key, like Still very upset about it and like bitter. Like that's all I wanted for my birthday. Hence why Ben was up at 7 a.m. m California time ready to rally. And I did. I made it all the way through. um
00:38:12
Speaker
i got all the way into the point where like it says registration and then you just had to click registration like over and over to refresh to see if you'd get in. I don't know. I just, I had hope that maybe they were releasing tickets in batches. i don't, I don't even know. Like, don't know what I had hope for, but it's just, it's a lot of upset people. a lot of videos of people cutting their Ulta cards. A lot you guys the of People are losing their minds. I mean, we're like, I'm bummed. I'm really bummed over it, but people are like losing their minds over this, but.
00:38:48
Speaker
You know what? we'll see We'll see where it is next year. Never say never. who You never know. But let's flip this conversation to like maybe more positive one. We've got a lot of freaking good shows out right now, you guys. A lot of good shows right now. You've got Emily in Paris, which don't get me started.
00:39:05
Speaker
Love it. So good. Beast and Me, His and Hers, I've heard is really good. Traitors. Tell Me Lies. Tell Me Lies. Heated Rivalry, which... Heated Rivalry.
00:39:18
Speaker
Yeah. you All about the spice. All about the spice. What else is out? there was that oh my good There's so many things out right now. And it is like the time to be like binging all of these shows. And you guys, if you have not watched Heated Rivalry, if you're someone who's like, ah if you're a pearl clutcher, like, I'm sorry, you you can't watch this. But if you have not watched it, you guys get freaking, get your little fan out so you can be I Bitting yourself during some of these scenes because it is like, wowee. Wow. I
00:39:53
Speaker
wow it's it's It's spice. And apparently it does follow the book very well. So if you've never read the book, it really I have not watched it nor read the book yet. But it is verbatim. They're using lines directly from the book. So I do appreciate love that.
00:40:09
Speaker
love that. love that. very much appreciate that for sure. i mean, and we didn't like those are all the just like the shows out on like Netflix, HBO, Hulu. Like we haven't even touched like don't even get me started on Bravo. Like Bravo got all All the girlies are Housewives, Summer House, Valley. Like, you know, all the things are coming back out.
00:40:27
Speaker
Speaking of, not to bring it back down to like the dramatics, but the true Summer House Bravo fans will understand that we're very grateful Amanda Batula and Kyle Cook finally decided to break things off. That's little side mention. It was time. Yeah.
00:40:42
Speaker
Yeah. toxicity Like it was time, but just so many good shows. so many like it's one of those things like, do I read my book or do I catch up on my binging shows? That's been my problem is like I I've mentioned this before. I kind of took I was like watching shows, scrolling, watching a show, scrolling on my phone. And I took that time and started putting it into books, like heavily into books.
00:41:06
Speaker
And now I'm like, oh wait, I got to, got to watch this. Oh, I got to watch this too. Like I got you know, like there's so much of the Taylor Swift documentary came out, you know, like there's so many wonderful shows and there's about to be but one more. Stranger Things. We didn't even talk about oh like my god Stranger Things. Stranger Things. Now it's right it's Netflix.
00:41:23
Speaker
So like so many incredible shows, but there's about to be another one that's coming out also on Netflix. Oh. Everybody's favorite girlie. the like Literally don't ever, don't talk to me.
00:41:36
Speaker
While this is on, do not talk to me. like I'm not even kidding you. Alex Earl is getting her own unscripted show with her family, her friends. I'm like, yes. i only matter time It was only a matter of time. I love this.
00:41:51
Speaker
So much for her. I'm interested to see when or to find out like when that all started like if it was during Dancing with the Stars before after like breakup.
00:42:04
Speaker
I'm really wondering like where. That all like where this conversation started happening with Netflix, because I think we all saw like a just a different side of her with Dancing with the Stars. Like I've always enjoyed her get ready with me. Now, do I have anything really in common with her?
00:42:22
Speaker
not much like i'm girl i like to like have fun and i like outfits like probably like you know like but she's like a little part like she likes to go have a good time she's a little party girl um teeny tiny like bops all around the world does these amazing things but i still like i love watching her get ready with me and i think we saw like that part that i was like missing of like the like Because you see like people who like have met her in person, like she's the sweetest person. She's so amazing. and like I don't doubt that for a second.
00:42:54
Speaker
But then after seeing her on Dancing with the Stars, I'm like, now you're really like a person you're really a person to me. Yeah. So I'm wondering if if that played a factor and in it at all and also can we get like a little quick like that can val have a moment in there like i need val to come in i need him to come in honestly val and jenna like the whole family yeah like and romeo like and just the rome i think his name is rome not romeo um Yeah. Like they can all be a part of the show. i would love that. I would love that. I mean, she was, I will say she was a little bit under fire recently as well with this whole Alex, Tom Brady ordeal.
00:43:34
Speaker
But like now it kind of makes sense if that was part of like this show, you know, to kind of gain attraction. I don't know. Because again, don't know the timeline of the show, but what are your thoughts? My first thought immediate now, like, I get it. It's Tom Brady. I don't think any of us would ever say no because it's Tom Brady like who wouldn't shoot their shot.
00:43:55
Speaker
Yeah. by at the same end, it's also it's almost like the creepy uncle vibe. Yeah. it just no I was just like very much no like I just i he's just like I don't know he did just all dirty so like I just like I'm a big Gisele Bundchen fan and like yeah the way he did her dirty just put a dirty view perspective on him on my ah in my eyes and um yeah like who says they're retiring for their family and it's what your wife and your kids want and then you go back to football like yeah you did your family dirty on that one
00:44:31
Speaker
yeah yeah I don't know. I'm like neither here nor there on that one. um Because like to me, I'm like, that's a big age gap. But I'm also like, I don't care. Like do whatever you want, you know? um i was also like, oh my gosh, for her ex Braxton, like to be like seeing like she's with the greatest of all time. Like we don't know if they got together. There was clips of them like kind of like the noodling, flirting. Yeah.
00:45:02
Speaker
So I don't know. But I'm just kind of like, you know what? She's beautiful. He's beautiful. They're both single in what was it? St. bart say Bart's? No, not St. Bart's. St. Bart's.
00:45:13
Speaker
they are Yeah. For New Year's, do your thing. There was like, that was the place to be for New Year's. Like it was ever like. All the celebrities. Everybody in the entire world except for us was there.
00:45:24
Speaker
All the celebs were there. Um. Yeah, I don't know. ah Like when it comes to like being a girl's girl, like hell yeah, dude, it's Tom Brady, go for it. But when it comes from like his side and perspective, I'm like, no.
00:45:36
Speaker
Anyone else? Oh, sure. Right, right, right. Like it's like two different perspectives when I see it in that sense. But I think I'm pretty sure she's come out with a statement since then or like did a video or something. I don't know. Maybe I dreamed this, like of her saying like nothing happened. We were talking like can't remember what I saw.
00:45:54
Speaker
Maybe was a friend. I can't remember. um Confirming that obviously nothing happened. We don't know. That could just be statement. yeah We don't know. We don't know. we maybe Maybe we'll see it on the undoed or not and ah undocumented, unscripted Netflix series. um We listen and we don't judge.
00:46:14
Speaker
Awesome. I mean, we judge a little bit just to have fun and like talk about it, but we don't judge. We don't judge. But I will be judging and anyone and everyone who gets to go to the Harry Styles concert if for some reason i cannot secure secure the goods.

Music and Concert Excitement

00:46:33
Speaker
Okay? That is why I was singing in the beginning of this. It's a great day to be alive because my oh my, he announced the tour and we are we're ready. We're ready. I'm so excited. And he's come out with new music. So I'm, he's on my list of like top artists I definitely want to see before I die type of vibe. You know, like I just. This is the time. Like this is the tour.
00:46:54
Speaker
i know. I'm so sad that I did not get to see him in his previous tour. Like I should have planned a little better. on The fact that he's gonna have Shania Twain in London really makes me want to go to London to see him. But yeah.
00:47:09
Speaker
I can't, you know, I gotta, I gotta, I gotta tone it down. Gotta bring it in. Gotta bring it in. New York city is just as great. New York city is great. I'm dying though. Cause I saw something. It was like not Harry Styles announcing the world tour, but it's his fans having to like go on the tour, like go on tour, like travel for, right you know, because we are the like we because everyone's freaking out. Cause it's only, which I get it only New York city for 30 days in New York city. um
00:47:40
Speaker
for the whole United States. So I get it. yeah um But to me, I'm like, that's, that's a trip that you, that's something you travel. That's what you travel for. Right. So like my goal is to do this for Aubrey's birthday this year. That'd be her big birthday trip. She turns 18. So that's our, that's,
00:47:59
Speaker
knock on wood praying to all gonna happen manifest manifest this for us but oh my gosh like this is going to be cuckoo bananas bonkers i'm already seeing all these videos of like outfit ideas for it and i'm like you guys this is not this tour just got announced yesterday like this week what are we doing my gosh this is happening so quickly i also need to see like i instantly need to know the set list like i need to know i need the center I need to know exactly how the stage is laid out. There's people making like assumptions on like what the stage looks like at MSG. so like
00:48:32
Speaker
We got to figure it out so we can be best prepared going into this. There's also a lot of potential for more like for like surprise guests at MSG. so like Not going to hope, but how cool would that be? you know yeah yeah Doubtful his ex Taylor would come, but... like you know but could she you know she's also busy but um no i he's on my list to watch i like instantly texted annie because i know she has an amex and amex gets um first dibs and i'm like i'm gonna just get an amex in order to do this like yeah like i need to be able to and the best part is already got been on board so like i'm like great i'm sure there's so many people i want to go to though but i'm just like It came out like very shortly after the devastation of Ulta Beauty World. So like the trauma was a little too fresh for- oh no, the trauma's there.
00:49:26
Speaker
So then we're we're grabbing, we're we're yeah we're doing it. We're getting in this queue. We're getting this pre-sale line. Manifest, baby. Manifest, trust the process. This is one where it's like all hands on deck, like all freaking hands on deck for this one. And we're we're using the Amex get on. we're We're getting to New York City, baby.
00:49:46
Speaker
You got to use the Amex. You got to be prepared for that presale because, but to be, and but to be fair, like I think you having the Amex definitely does give the advantage because that is how we were able to manage Taylor Swift. Aeris tour tickets was through the presale of Capital One.
00:50:01
Speaker
yeah so Well, Amex is even before the artist presale, apparently. So it's Amex, artist presale, and like General. But I'm like, if you're waiting until General, I'm sorry to tell you, you're not getting in You got to go.
00:50:15
Speaker
You got to go. then i reserve They do reserve certain a certain amount of tickets for General. mean, luck. Good luck. I'm kidding.
00:50:29
Speaker
There's someone on here that's like, bitch. Yeah. What the fuck? They're going to be calling now that you're exposed that you have an Amex. Like, literally, they're going to be calling you as well. But want everyone know, I already took advantage of that offer. And it was a one-person limit offer. So, find someone else. Find someone else.
00:50:49
Speaker
Find someone else to do the tickets. There's lots of people. Honestly, i really should get an Amex because i feel like I'm not validating my points in my current credit cards. So, yeah. Well, if you do, let me know. This is not, you guys, this is not an Amex podcast, but if you do, let me know because I get some points for like referring someone. So I love, I do love my Amex points.
00:51:11
Speaker
I do. Okay. So now now truth, truth time. If they were selling this wine at Madison square garden, would you get this wine or would you be like, I'm going to take something else instead?

Wine Reviews and Closing Cheers

00:51:25
Speaker
I'm going to for sauvignon block. I think. okay So you're taking something else. ah I think I'm going to go with for Taylor Swift, Sarah.
00:51:37
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. It's not it's not horrible. No. i don't want to say that it's horrible. Yeah. um I have like a pretty decent rating in mind. Okay. And it's not mean. It's not horrible. It's not just think maybe this is not the right, what's it, Albino? Albano?
00:51:57
Speaker
Albano. Albano. Albano. Yeah. So, yeah. So, yeah. Willing to sample a different one. willing to yeah i would yes i would definitely try this one oh i just you guys have to see okay well you can't is that a little cat eye you got going on yes you guys jamina's gonna have to post this you're gonna post this video because people listening are like what the hell you guys i got the cat's eye um nails i love it i am all i've been doing all day i got home and i was like on my computer like tttttt tapping away doing my emails and i looked down i was like oh let me just
00:52:37
Speaker
cat And now those are those your real nails? Can we can we get a peek again? These are my real nails, you guys. These are them. Look how beautiful the shape is. like i can work that You guys, knuckles are so ugly. like Oh, yeah. Knuckles are disgusting. They're like venuses. Why did God not make these better looking? Yeah, they're like venuses.
00:52:58
Speaker
But yeah. Venus, knuckles, knees. Ew. Gross. I'm like, oh, I like want to take a picture. And then I'm like, no, my uncle nine knuckles look like... Maybe hydrate them a little bit. my God. not i think how Love looks great.
00:53:13
Speaker
Thank you so much. Thank you. That's all I was looking for was to make a comment to compliment me. oh I instantly saw it in the light. The rain light hit it just right. And it was just like, oh look at her in her her, in her cat. Is it cat eye or cat's eye? You said cat's eye with an S. Is there an S or no? I have no idea. i have no idea. i just had cat eyed.
00:53:31
Speaker
I'm probably cat eye. I don't know. You said cat's eye. So I didn't know. That's why I call it cat's eye because I thought it was cat's eye. And then I saw something else that said cat eye. You guys know what I'm saying. It's cat eye, cat's eye.
00:53:42
Speaker
Pop off in the comments. Let us know who what do we say. Again, this is another thing where someone's listening and being like, this idiot. Like this. It's snake. It's a snake. Yeah. yeah but It's an amphibian. Like, yeah. Who knows? Whatever. so Love it. Is it like a deep blue? Like a midnight blue? It is. Yes. I love an OPI nail. I only use OPI polish because I feel like it's the best. And, um, and then it has, but do, what'd you say? i said not sponsored, but could be sponsored, but it could be, my God, OPI, it's all I use. Um, but yeah. And then they use like a magnet to like move the, like the,
00:54:25
Speaker
thing around and like, that's what makes, that's what makes it look like this because it like moves the, it I'm here for it. Anyways, I'm a huge fan. I was a big Chrome girly and now I'm like, I think I'm going get a cat eye, cat's eye girly, whatever it is. i'm a CE gal.

00:54:56
Speaker
you know, either whether you're skimming us or, you know, whatever, maybe be we are drinking the Martin, Martin Codex Albarino. So Albarino is a new varietal for us. Mm um it's very dry i will so i will i will stand by that statement i feel like it is like dry or on the like definitely ah if there was a little scale it's like scooching towards very dry to me yeah but no i think i'm ready um i think i'm ready yeah um It's not a bad like, again, i think I would dabble in in this viridol again. i would definitely try a different one. um
00:55:40
Speaker
I don't think necessarily maybe this one's the one for me. But and my corking is not horrible. It's not mean. it It's honestly just I would say it's a seven. Like, I'm just going to keep it at a seven. Okay. Okay.
00:55:53
Speaker
um because i think if this was served somewhere i would drink it it's not that i wouldn't drink it i just don't think i would if there was another option i would probably go for the other option so i think that's why i'm putting it out a seven because yes i would drink it again but no it would not be my first option if there was another option yeah i'm with you there i was in the range of where you are it's like a little a seven, a little bit lower, but I'm giving it a 6.8 because it took me a little bit to, and I honestly think that was like my, this is like my first glass of wine plus like the rest of this wine coming through. Cause now I'm like, y'all go take another glass of it.
00:56:34
Speaker
and you know one You know, once you have a glass or two, it's like, don't fucking care what it like. You know? the rim, rim. So I'm giving it a 6.8 just because, like, I don't know. I wasn't that thrilled with the first few sips. Yeah. um And to your point, yes, I would probably try...
00:56:55
Speaker
