Introduction and Daylight Saving Time Discussion

00:00:00
Speaker
Welcome to Wine Mama, a podcast with two bestie moms, wine while they wine. I'm Yamina. And I'm Annie. Let's whine. And we're definitely going whine because i know that we're probably all still talking about daylight saving time. Like this is one of those things where everyone talks about it for at least a week, if not like two weeks, right? Like when you're like, oh my gosh, like it's still so light out. Can you believe it? And it's like, we should believe it. We've been doing this forever. wish We should be used to this.
00:00:32
Speaker
Except Arizona, right? everyone Everyone does it except Arizona. Yeah. except for Arizona. And I found out Puerto Rico doesn't do it either. Good on them. Honestly, good on them. them just like be lot sunshine all the time. Um, yes. But you know, it's funny, like Ben forgot that it was it. And was like, nah, boo, buckle up.
00:00:49
Speaker
as We're losing an hour of sleep. I mean, gaining something more much more beautiful. I would rather be in this timeframe. love when the sun sets like later, like I love it. Not for the purposes of my children, because then they bargain with me and like, but then the sun's still up. It's not bedtime. I'm like, it is. Look at the clock.
00:01:09
Speaker
That's what we've been getting. That's what we've been getting. Like, but the sun's still up. I'm like, it's time for bed. Exactly. It's like, it's called daylight savings. I'll explain to it. I'll explain it

Personal Life Updates and Parenting Anecdotes

00:01:19
Speaker
when you're older. Like Olaf. Yes. Yes.
00:01:21
Speaker
Yes. One day when you're older. So if you guys are, if you guys want to whine about it, we'll whine about it with you because we're, we are all going through it. But other than that, how are things going? How's the household?
00:01:33
Speaker
The household is the household. We've had a actually very, like my social battery is so drained. We had a very busy weekend. We had a bridal shower. i double booked a birthday party. So like all in one day, bridal shower, birthday party, birthday party.
00:01:51
Speaker
Just lots of things. Beckett's learning how to ride his bike. No training wheels. Just like all the things happening at once. But I do have a funny story about Avery girl.
00:02:03
Speaker
So sometimes like when she does something, girls like Picker Bugger like tries to put it on me or something. I'm like, ew, like that's nasty girl. Like that's what I say. That's nasty girl. Okay. This is the key to the story.
00:02:14
Speaker
Uh-huh. And now she's like fixated on that. So she'll just be like, like today she was like, or over the weekend, she was, um, we were, when Becca was practicing with this bike, she was riding her scooter and i was in front of her and she's like, move over you nasty girl. I'm like, what? So now everything is nasty girl. She's like, nasty girl, nasty. And I'm like, and all I can think of is that song.
00:02:39
Speaker
that that oh italyly yeah wait yeah i can't think of it i've been a nasty girl like and i yeah a nasty girl yes yes because that's exactly what it sounds like like she doesn't freaking know what it means and like when i say to her it's because she's doing something nasty so like girl that's nasty like stop so now she calls me a nasty girl so i am now nasty girl girl I'm obsessed with that. That is so funny. I wish so badly that she was in school because you know, you know, she would be going to kids and be like, move it, nasty girl. Nasty girl. Like, yeah, I would literally get an email being like, oh my God.
00:03:17
Speaker
You'd be getting a note home. You'd be getting a note home and be like, high. Yeah. And night than not even that, like she is going to start school. She's starting school June 1st and it's a Christian like church school. So she cannot be saying these things there. Like, no.
00:03:35
Speaker
Like, they do chapel. Like, they

Weekend Highlights and Wine Introduction

00:03:37
Speaker
do stuff like that. So I'm like, you cannot be calling people nasty girls. Like... Yeah. And it's just the way that she says it. She's like, come here, nasty girl. And I'm like, no. No.
00:03:46
Speaker
That's when people do nasty things. Like, when you pick your burgers and sp put it on the window of my car. Like, that's nasty girl. That's true nasty girl. That's true nasty girl stuff. Yeah. So that's what I'm dealing with over here with my little nasty girl. Like, I...
00:04:00
Speaker
And Ben heard it tonight. I was trying to explain to him like secret, like quietly so she wouldn't say it. And then like during dinner, like she was like, a nasty girl, come here. I'm like, no, like we do not. It's like now you hear it. Now you hear what I'm what I'm being called. Anyways, that's what my three year old's up to nowadays. What are you guys doing over there?
00:04:20
Speaker
<unk>re Very casual. So as you guys, yeah, as you guys know this past weekend, I had my sister's baby shower. It was in Savannah. it was so wonderful. um i always, you know, I like going up there to visit. We had her shower at the same place we had her previous shower at the old pink house. It was just, it was lovely. They always like the service there and the attention to detail is just, it, it really is like out of this world. They do an incredible job. That's why we hosted it there a second time because we were like, it's just that good. and remember, we talked about like things that she got that like we are new or like kind of like we haven't seen before. So, you know, like the bottle sterilizers.
00:05:04
Speaker
Oh, yes. Right. So there was never one like I didn't have a bottle sterilizer because I'm like, I'm still washing the freaking bottle. Like I'm still washing it. You know, like to me, the sterilizing, I'm like, what's it going for me?
00:05:17
Speaker
She got the mom cozy like bottle washer, like the actual like washer machine. And I was like, yes, I was like, your life is too correct.
00:05:29
Speaker
It does everything. It's it's she's she's all in one to my knowledge. Now I don't have somebody on there. Maybe like, no, it doesn't. All I know is that I saw mom cozy like bottle washing bottle washer. And I was like,
00:05:43
Speaker
That's a dream, especially for those of us that had the one with like the multiple parts, like Dr. Brown. So I'm sure there's others now, but like multiple parts, all this stuff, like you're pumping stuff. Like, Oh, like what a dream, what a dream. So yeah. I mean, honestly, not even just that. Think of your, if you did breastfeeding or pumping, think of your pump parts.
00:06:07
Speaker
like yes yeah on top of that yeah that's what was saying is like you're pumping stuff too like it's just like amazing so I was like that is top tier that I've seen it I've seen it but again I thought it was just like the sterilizer which honestly same like I never used just because it was just another step in the process like having to do that so I just never used the sterilizer on I was like, you know what? I'm just going to entrust in my washing skills and hope for the best. Like there's, I, the way I grew up, there wasn't any, and i

Wine Tasting and Trends Exploration

00:06:43
Speaker
I'm okay. So yeah I, yeah I gave up on the sterilizer after like week three, I was like, hell, I'm done here. So the fact that it's a combo, dabble.
00:06:52
Speaker
Oh my God. and That would be top item. Like when the baby Brezza for both of us was like number one item on our list, like this would be the number one. i wouldn't even put anything on my list and force people to get that for me. I would just put that on there.
00:07:06
Speaker
Just that you'd have to get you. So you'd have to get it for me as soon as it was bought. Then I add to my list. um But yeah, and nothing further. so that's just going on. I brought the girls up there and now...
00:07:18
Speaker
back at it and oh by the next episode you guys I'm gonna be having some new hair gonna be having some new getting a haircut and on laughff I'm gonna chop it some I've had more my um I told you I think on one episode that Aubrey was like you have to have the Mormon mom hair you have perfect Mormon mom hair and that means long hair like the Mormon wives like secret lives and Mormon wives And I think like, I think it's run its course. My hair grows very fast. And so I'm just going to chop it a little bit and then let it grow
00:07:50
Speaker
back Okay. So you just chop it a little bit. So you're not doing anything drastic. you I'm not doing anything drastic, but like I'm doing a few inches, like maybe armpit. I was going to say, i feel like right, right where that curl is, like right above it. Here? Above it?
00:08:04
Speaker
Yeah. and Right there. Like where your finger is. i think right there is a very pretty length on you. you so much. i Right where that curl ends right there. We're going to talk about this for the rest of the episode, everyone. So yeah just don't even, this is it. We're going to talk about my hair. I think that is a nice length. Especially how fast your hair grows. This is my problem. Listen, this is my problem with people in haircuts. Like my philosophy is it grows back. You guys, unless you legitimately have an issue, like it's just hair.
00:08:33
Speaker
I get it. There can be bad haircuts. I get that. Put it in a ponytail. Slick bun is in, baby. Like put it in a ponytail. Stop that bad boy. you You will survive this. If there's something you want to try, if you if if you want to try it and like you like can't get it out of your mind,
00:08:48
Speaker
Just do it. It's going to grow back. Like, don't, it's okay. Especially like you, like your hair grows super fast. My hair does not grow super fast. So when I have to commit, because I'm thinking about going back to my lob now that I'm a little bit skinnier, like it's going to look a little better, you know, like get out of here.
00:09:04
Speaker
Thank God for being healthy. but like, I think it'll look a little better. She's a healthy, nasty girl. I know. Maybe I need to change her to say she's a healthy girl versus she's a nasty girl.
00:09:16
Speaker
But um my hair, because my hair is so fine, I've worked so hard and I've grown it so long. Like it's very long right now, but because it's so fine, it starts getting very stringy then it just looks bad. It doesn't look good. So told Ben, I said, I think for the summer, I'm going to go back to my lob and just like. You should. looks so good.
00:09:36
Speaker
it looks so good. Yeah. We'll see. We'll see. i'm I'm not fully convinced myself yet because I've worked so hard and freaking growing my hair out, but it just looks, it just does not look good guys. Like what if it's done up, of course, like if I like curl it or straight. Right. Right. But when it's, when it's just like doing its thing, it's like, well, well, all natural is not the vibe.

'Would You Rather' Parenting Game

00:09:57
Speaker
Like it's, it's, it's up to right here. Right. And then like down on like underneath my collarbones, it's like, you can see the stringiness because it's so fine. So I say chop it.
00:10:07
Speaker
I mean, don't go full lob. Like i' I'm saying like, right. Yeah. I could never, I could never mind. You guys, I just have to, like, I listen, I have a fat face. I do. I have my, I just have a big head, a fat face. I have too much hair. It would be so so, chaotic, but enough about my haircut. Cheers to being a healthy, nasty girl. Are you ready to whine with the wine of the week?
00:10:29
Speaker
I'm ready to whine with the wine of the week. Amazing. i'm I'm so happy for you. I'm so happy for us because tonight I am so excited for us. So we are drinking the Honig Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc Savvy Bee. We are back. And I am, we say this every free week.
00:10:49
Speaker
I can't wait. I can't wait to try this wine. are hopeful. We're hopeful every week. Hopeful every week. But this one's like, you guys, the bottle of this captivates you, like instantly captivates you. It's like a see-through, like scenic, I don't even know how to describe it. Like just like a scenic grapevine.
00:11:13
Speaker
I don't even know. I don't know how to describe it. It's it's beautiful. It's a beautiful bottle. So the the bottle is all clear and the label on the back It has a picture like a graphic of their, maybe their vineyard or something on the back or the front of the label, back of the label. So you see it through the bottle. It's just, it's beautiful. So tell us a little bit about what we're drinking tonight, Jamina. Okay. Actually, has a very lovely story. so I'm very excited to share the story. Um, yeah.
00:11:43
Speaker
Because it just matches the vibe of the bottle. you know, it's like sometimes we get these bottles and like the story doesn't match or the story is much better than what the bottle or the label looks like. So this one, it's all to a full completion until we taste it, of course. But 1964, Louis Honig purchased a 68 acre ranch in Rutherford in the heart of Napa Valley. The vineyard was planted with Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, which he sold to neighboring wineries.
00:12:13
Speaker
Louis worked to create a family gathering place at the ranch for his children and grandchildren. While he dreamed of the day he could retire from the San Francisco advertising agency and make wine from his vineyard. I mean, isn't that everyone's dream, right?
00:12:27
Speaker
Literally everyone's. It really is. It really is. one's dream But Louis unfortunately passed away again. don't know guys heard the year there, 1964, which I guess is not that far off.
00:12:40
Speaker
No. 1964, because like our parents were probably, my parents were born. I won't call out their ages, but it's not that far off. Anyways, Lewis passed away before he could realize his dream, leaving leaving the estate to his family in 1980. As a tribute to his legacy, his family produced a few hundred cases of Louis Honig Sauvignon Blanc in the vineyard's old tractor barn. After the wine won a gold medal at the Orange County Fair, the family decided to increase production and the Honig Vineyard and Winery was born.
00:13:10
Speaker
I mean, i mea It's so good. It's so good. I know when you grabbed this information, i was going through it. I was like, wait, this is such a lovely little story. So at age 22, grandson, Michael Honig, Honig, I'm not sure how to pronounce it. So I i apologize if butchering how to pronounce Honig.
00:13:31
Speaker
But Michael took over management of the vineyard and winery in 1989. The family began producing small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon. As the business grew, more family members joined Michael in the winery. Today, the Honig family are leaders in sustainability, both in the vineyard and the winery. And what began as a small garage winery has today become a successful family enterprise, with everyone working collaboratively collaboratively b but to run an inspiring and socially responsible business.
00:13:59
Speaker
Which... Listen, family run. And apparently it is an all-female winemaking team. And you guys, they only have two wines, the Cabernet Sauvignon and the Sauvignon Blanc. Now they have different like...
00:14:13
Speaker
tiers, if you will, of each of those wines. But those are the only two wines that they produce. And tonight, this wine that we're drinking, the flavor profile will be grapefruit, lime, passion fruit, peach, honeysuckle, with hints of minerality, lemongrass, and basil, which basil is kind of interesting in this one, but I love all of those descriptors.
00:14:38
Speaker
Okay. The only reason why I'm not knocking basil off the list is because earlier today i went to this store that had this like a mimosa cart and I had a guava and basil mimosa and boy, did it work.
00:14:56
Speaker
That sounds really good. It was incredible. So the fact that this has basil in it actually amped my excitement for it because I'm like, I wonder if that's going to add that extra oomph that it needs that you wouldn't think in a wine would be necessary.
00:15:14
Speaker
Yeah. that makes sense So I was actually very excited about the little basil thrown in there, um which normally i would not be. Shout out to the mimosa I had earlier encouraging this passion. Cool. Quick little shout out there. ah The price is very reasonable. Somewhere it's between $20 and $25 for this. So very, very affordable, very reasonable. We're hoping that it tastes amazing as well. So we are going to have to give it a cheers. Also, recently I saw...
00:15:46
Speaker
on TikTok that someone was putting like frozen mangoes in their Sauvignon Blanc. so we're gonna have to try that at some point, maybe with the rest of this bottle, I'm going maybe grab some frozen mangoes, but I heard about that little trend going around.
00:16:01
Speaker
i definitely want, to after trying the frozen jalapeno hack, I definitely want to try the frozen mangoes as well. Like Because then, you know what? Maybe a little combo, little jalapeno, a little mango. Ooh, a spicy mango. oh Okay, we're on to something here. were Okay, what don't let anybody take that. That's ours. That's ours. yeah Trademarked, trademarked immediately. But in the meantime, are you ready to wine and drink? and I mean, it smells very good.
00:16:29
Speaker
It does. does. I'm ready to taste The story, the bottle. I know we're hopeful every week, but this one, I really am really wanting it to be really good. And I will say they do recommend, even on the website, they do recommend servant chilled, of course. Yeah.
00:16:46
Speaker
As any saw BB. I mean, some people don't like it chilled, but this one is recommended to be chilled. So yes, let's give it try we have to stop saying we're hopeful on every wine, but let's give it a try. I'm ready.
00:16:59
Speaker
Cheers. Cheers.
00:17:05
Speaker
Oh, yeah. She's crisp. She is crisp. And she does have good reviews. I will say she does have good reviews online. flavor, the, it's so good.
00:17:18
Speaker
It's the basil. I fully believe it's the basil. I think basil is the magical herb now. I was mid-sip when you said that. I almost spit that out. It's that basil. No, the fruits in there you can taste. Mm-hmm.
00:17:33
Speaker
She's crisp. She's, I can only describe her as crisp. This put me, oh okay, let me paint the scenery for everybody. I have, so I have so many thoughts. It better include frozen jalapenos and frozen mangoes because this would be so good.
00:17:49
Speaker
So good. I think it would definitely bring out the basil in it. but Paint us the scene. Paint it for us. I'm going to paint the scene. It's daylight savings. you see If you're driving and listening to us, don't don't close your eyes, but everybody else close your eyes.
00:18:01
Speaker
Picture yourself in it. It's daylight savings. That sunset is like 8 p.m. because it's getting darker later. You're in the back porch. you know Children are already in bed because you force them despite the sun being up.
00:18:14
Speaker
It's just you and the Kindle with a glass. And you've got the spicy mango addition to it. And it's crisp. It's chilled.
00:18:26
Speaker
There's no one calling your name. ah Because, of course, like i like I previously mentioned, they're already in bed because you forced them in bed with the song still up. Again, but force them that at their bedtime. Like, it's still their bedtime. like It's still their bedtime. Bedtime does not follow through with daylight savings. I'm sorry to break it to you, everybody, but bedtime is bedtime. 7.30 is 7.30. Yeah. yeah I don't know what you're trying to do here, but yeah. no she's She's going on the roster. Okay.
00:18:57
Speaker
She's going to, she's one she's on the starting lineup. Okay. She is on the starting lineup. When we're looking, we're when we're picking team captains, she's, you know, what everyone knows the audio I'm about to say. You guys know the Abby, Abby Lee dance company. And they're like, Tara, you're at the bottom.
00:19:19
Speaker
She's the top star, okay? She is. She's the top star, which honestly makes me so, so happy. i know. I know. Story, the bottle, the just so happy. But but you you know, this, this could have turned, this could have turned to another um audio that we were thinking of. You know the tire banks like I was rooting for you. we were all rooting for you. This could have turned out like that for the Honig family. And it didn't. So for the blessings of all, it is not. And it's actually a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful wine to get us into our journey because we did this.
00:19:57
Speaker
in what did we determine season five season five and season, what'd I say? Two or three, maybe two or three. Yeah. It was two or three and then five.
00:20:07
Speaker
and now we're doing again because it's, it's so fun. It's so fun. i love it. And I want everybody to play along because like, I want you in the car to also decide what you would rather do, because this is going to be a, would you rather session it's going Spitfire. I know the Spitfires are fun, but like we like to also like chat about like our reasoning why we're picking. So. Yeah.
00:20:31
Speaker
Yeah. Would you rather edition number three, I guess, because we've done it in previous seasons. Okay. Do you want me to kick it off? Yes, please. Kick it off.
00:20:43
Speaker
I'm going to kick it off with a very, very tough one because as parents in general, but specifically as moms, it's going to put you in a pickle. Okay. Okay. Would you rather.
00:20:54
Speaker
Never drink coffee again oh or never take a nap again. i love naps. I know. Well, I think I could pick for you, but I'm not you. So I'll let you speak for yourself. um I mean, I actually kind of am you, um but I could definitely pick i this is tough because those things, as you know, i hold very near and dear to my heart.
00:21:23
Speaker
i mean I like I said, these are both very detrimental items in a mother's life. Detrimental. I would honestly have to say never nap again.
00:21:36
Speaker
i knew you were going say that. I love to nap. Like I, me and one of our friends, Sophia, we both like, we just talk, like we'll text each other. Like I just woke up from a great nap. Like just to tell each other we had a great nap. It's just like, I don't know. Cause I love nap, but coffee is my life.
00:21:55
Speaker
Coffee is my life. I love it. And it may not be like, sometimes like if I get and enough shots in my espresso, like my latte, like I'm, I'm pumping. But sometimes just a cup of coffee is truly like,
00:22:06
Speaker
just for like, I need that. I need the coffee just because it's coffee, not specifically for the caffeine, but yes, I don't think I couldn't give it. I can't, I can't give a coffee. I can't.
00:22:18
Speaker
Yeah. And see, I'm the rare breed that like coffee does not affect me. It doesn't give me energy. It doesn't, I drink it strictly because I love the taste of it. Um, so I'm not a daily coffee drinker because I don't necessarily need it every day. um Because again, if it, if it gave me the energy that people get from it, God, please, i would wouldn't I love that? Like, I know I can promise you, I'd probably be that two cup a day kind of gal, but no, I literally drink it because it tastes good to me. And i'm like, Oh, I want to taste it. But I could take three shots of espresso and take a nap right after. So that's the unfortunate part. But so with that being said,
00:22:59
Speaker
I would give up the coffee because I already don't drink it daily. Yeah. So it would be easier for me to give up. But a nap, like you guys, I love myself a nap, especially like couch nap. Like if the mood is right, oh overcast. so good Or the kids are having their quiet time. and so you're like, going to have my quiet time. And that's being asleep.
00:23:18
Speaker
I know. Yeah. Like I love a good couch nap. I love like. specifically a couch nap honestly like there's his i know like yeah the couch naps hit a little bit different well this is great for me because next time we go out and you order an espresso martini i'm gonna say uh-uh sir bring that over to me because she said that she is fine without coffee so you yeah she's good i for that over me the specific was coffee is coffee so i'm just gonna like reiterate that the specific was coffee Espresso and teas are nowhere ever being given up because though now those, i think it's the combo of the alcohol and the espresso that give me
00:23:59
Speaker
like a second wind with that. More than a second wind sometimes. Good God. Yeah. that's it Depending how many i have. but this pen well it's always a two to It's always a two espresso martini limit. I think that's probably any martinis, but you know what i'm saying. um Okay. The next one is kind of like, now that we're on this like, oh, daylight savings. Ah, you know, it's killing all of us.
00:24:21
Speaker
This is a question on sleep. So would you rather get eight hours of sleep, but your kids wake up at 5 a.m. every day Or four hours of sleep, but your kids are sleeping until 9 a.m. Well, I think I just made it pretty clear that I love sleep is very valuable to me. So I'm going to go with eight hours and wake up at 5 a.m. Let's seize the day, little turds. Like, let's go. We're going to the gym, bitches. Yeah.
00:24:49
Speaker
Yeah. Like, yeah. No, I think I would take my eight hours of sleep because I'm โ€“ I mean, during like the newborn stage, anyone is productive on little sleep. Like you are like on adrenaline, but like now, no, like my sleep is very valuable. um my beauty rest, it helps me get my beauty. So, and my sanity and that's what helps me get my beauty.
00:25:16
Speaker
so I'm going to go with eight hours and 5am wake up calls. I'll take it. I'm right there with you. i again, yes. And I'm on the flip line, right? Like I love coffee, like I'll lattes all the time, but four hours is just like repetitively is just like not sustainable. Like it's, I'm sure there are people that do it, but like, it's just not

Wine Reflection and Closing Remarks

00:25:36
Speaker
sustainable. And I would be unwell in all senses of the word, like later on in the day So I'll go for a five. Listen, my kids are up at five 15 this weekend. Don't ask me why.
00:25:46
Speaker
But they were up at 5.15. This was before the time change, you guys. And so we're not far off. We're not far off from the 5 a.m. So, I'm already experiencing that. And also, like, 9 a.m., like, that's not even that big of a boost. Like, if โ€“ say noon and maybe I'll think about it. Yeah. Well, then we can, then we can kind of talk a little bit, but I will be saying, then will say that with that eight hours of sleep, I've been taking that. I told you that magnesium, magnesium ashwagandha thing that some, like a friend of mine told me about. And I was like, okay, like, I don't know. I'm just, I never like, I don't know, you get things recommended by people you're like, yeah, okay. Like I'll try it.
00:26:25
Speaker
It helps me. Like I can fall asleep at the drop of a hat, but it's like staying asleep. Like I toss and turn really bad throughout the night. And it, I am in like a, like dead man's sleep so much so that like my watch will be like very high sleep score. Like, so I'm so proud of you. And I'm like, hell yeah.
00:26:41
Speaker
Like I did it. So more alarming than that. Like you sleep with your watch on. Yes. What do you mean? My, Apple watch? Yeah. That's my alarm.
00:26:53
Speaker
What? Yeah. That's my alarm. Like when I get up, when I get up for the gym, the little buzz on my arm is what wakes. That's my alarm. Instead of having a sound, it's just like a little buzzing on my wrist. Oh my gosh. I could never, I have to take all my rings, all my jewelry. Like I can't have it. It's like constricting to me.
00:27:09
Speaker
Like everything must come off. Okay, I take everything else off. The ring, earrings, everything else except for my watch. I would literally sleep naked. i don't because I have children. but like i would and my But my watch would still be on. I'm not kidding you.
00:27:25
Speaker
I'm dead. i think that's why I would love to try like an R ring for like the sleep. Because I would i would love to know my sleep measurements. i The watch is just too much for me. Like it's that. Yeah. Oh, I get that. or I would try like a ring version because I think maybe that would be less...
00:27:41
Speaker
constricting to me. I don't know. I guess like, I don't know because I sometimes like I sleep with my arms like this. Like is my watch kind of like, yeah, I don't know. Anyways, moving on, moving on to the next. Would you rather, would you rather, i guess it could be one. Would you rather sleep with your watch?
00:28:01
Speaker
Let's see whether weirdos are out there. i know. Right. Tag in everyone. everyone please Would you rather your child draw on the walls with permanent marker? Or dump slime into your couch.
00:28:16
Speaker
Easy peasy. Walls with permanent marker. I'll give you the permanent marker if you want draw on them. Because I can find over it. Yeah, same. Slime is banned in this household. Slime is not allowed in this household. Slime is the beginning my existence.
00:28:27
Speaker
It is, and I, we have a little bit, but if it gets on, like, they got it on a blanket um a couple weeks ago, and I'm like, okay, well, that's not coming off. Like, even if you wash it, that's gone. And I also don't want to wash that in, and it wasn't a lot, but it was like a little bit piece little piece in the corner that I couldn't get off, and I'm like, now washing that, is that going end up somewhere in, like, the drainage of my washer?
00:28:52
Speaker
Yeah. Permanent marker all day. I would literally supply the permanent marker. If you felt so inclined to do so here, I'll i'll give you the Sharpie. Just make it pink. And honestly, let's, let's be clear here. There's a reason Mr. Clean gets lots of money because there's magic erasers that they freaking erase everything. So including like the paint on on your wall. So like, just be careful how hard you scrub because it does take the paint off. Um, so yeah, I'm with you permanent marker all day. again slime i'm sorry i'm not the cool mom that's like yeah let's play with slime now every time my children have had slime i literally buy you know like the party disposable um table covers i guess um and i put that on the table i was like you can only play right here on top of this and this is once it's done it's all in the trash so enjoy however many hours you're gonna sit here
00:29:41
Speaker
And play with this because afterwards it's out of here. Yeah. Have a good time. There's no other panic, like seeing like the slime container, like randomly and it's empty. And it's like, where is this?
00:29:52
Speaker
Where is this? I had that panic the other day and I was like, Charlie, where is this slime? And she's like, um, and I'm like, oh, um, you better find that it's somewhere in this house and it needs to be found ASAP.
00:30:03
Speaker
Yeah. There's no other panic like it right now. Yeah. Yeah.
00:30:09
Speaker
All right. Next one up. Let's see what we've got here. Ooh. Would you rather cook dinner every night or clean the kitchen every night? I'd rather cook.
00:30:22
Speaker
I would rather cook because like, that's one of the problems of probably why I don't cook as often is because I don't want to clean the kitchen because I'm not like a neat, like the utensils I'm going to need to use to cook. I'm going to use them. Like I'm not one. I like, i so like,
00:30:36
Speaker
If I need three different like measuring spoons. Oh yeah. 100%. So I would much rather just like cook and have somebody else clean. Like everybody, you know, and that is kind of like our rule. I will say like if Ben cooks, I'm in charge of having to clean the dishes or if I cook my source, like put it in the dishwasher, whatever it may be. So yeah, I'm going to go with that. What would be your choice?
00:31:01
Speaker
Same. And we try to do the same, right? Just like to help each other out. But I... hate I think it's because right like cooking we're still like our day kind of still like we're winding down a little bit but our day's still going like we're cooking whatever by the time it comes time to clean the kitchen you're also trying to like wrangle the kids for like bed and bath and it's like just like the tail end of everything or if you have to like wait and do bed and bath then you have to come down into the kitchen afterwards it's like this is not fun
00:31:32
Speaker
Like this should be time where I just get to like kind of like block everything out, but you're still kind of like cleaning everything up. So cooking every night, count me in, like put me in coach. I'm, I'm actually nailed. You nailed that because that's honestly the exact sensation cooking. You're still in the vibe, right?
00:31:50
Speaker
Like, wow. You described that perfectly. Honestly. Thank you so much. No notes, no notes, no notes, none. Moving on to the next one. Since we're on the food related topic, Would you rather your kid only eat chicken nuggets forever or refuse everything except snacks?
00:32:07
Speaker
And I'm not saying healthy snacks. Like we're talking cheeses, Oreos, you know, those kinds of Oreos, you know, the little bag Oreos is what I'm talking about. Honey grams.
00:32:20
Speaker
That is really a hard one. honestly i may get shit for this honestly probably the chicken nuggets only because it's like a protein right like yes it's fried but like it's still protein it could be like a healthy chicken nugget it could be a grilled nugget like a little grilled nugget from chick-fil-a right um you never know you never know i agree at least you're getting some sort of protein and like it seems more healthier than like eating cheez-its and goldfish forever like
00:32:54
Speaker
carbs yeah like empty empty empty foods empty calories yeah yeah okay i'm gonna be in there i think it's it's called um we call it casa boba which is like dumb house kind of thing because you know like when you're don't know like for example when you go to get mexican food you overeat on the salsa right yeah we call Casa Bawa because it's like you are just overeating on something. Like, you know, it's like tricking your mind because you become obsessed about eating something before your actual meal. So like, that's what like goldfish would be. I feel like, you know, it's not like, it's not providing.
00:33:34
Speaker
No. Provides, I mean, love you goldfish, but like doesn't. Yeah. Love you. Literally all the, all the flavors you've come out with. Well done. Well done. Whoever is in the goldfish company,
00:33:46
Speaker
You guys are doing great. Honestly, I just saw you guys just came out with new flavors for the pretzel goldfish. Like Dijon, what? Who are you guys? But well done. Well done.
00:33:58
Speaker
Just, i don't want my kids eating you forever. Sorry, i just wouldn't pick that as the snack they eat forever. it just, it's, it's the cold hard truth. Sorry. I love you, but like, I wouldn't pick you. It's like a little compliment sandwich. Well, inverse.
00:34:15
Speaker
The compliment was in the middle. It wasn't a compliment sandwich. The compliment was like the Oreo filling in the middle. Exactly. They're at the bottom of the pyramid this week.
00:34:27
Speaker
Oh my God. Okay. Um, and next, another one. Would you rather always be the carpool mom or always host the play dates?
00:34:39
Speaker
Carpool mom. Honestly, carpool mom, because like get in my car, let's play some jams. I'm dropping you off. If I'm hosting the play date, you are, you are making a mess in my home. Yeah. And like, it's very similar to like field trips kind of where like, if the kids take a little shit at your house, it's like, okay, I'm sorry. Do you, do you treat your items like that? Like you act like this at your own home or like, what's the vibe? going to call your mommy. You're going home now.
00:35:03
Speaker
You know? going to call your mommy. You're going home. Come get a little sleepy. There's a five minute. Shit, Ed. and I'm calling your mommy. You're going home now. You're actually just filming my piece. And in carpool, they're buckled. so like, they literally can't touch anything. And you can lock the wires. Yeah. can even do that And if you have to pick up, like, one of the obnoxious ones, just turn off the music and drown them out.
00:35:29
Speaker
It's easy. Right. Yeah. It's also like, god it's also gossip. Like when they get older, it's also like, they're going to be talking to each other about things that were said in school. Or like, if it's like girls are like, Oh, like talking about like a little boy or something. i am the most nosy parent. I think I've told you guys, like i for homecoming, obviously not anymore because Aubrey drives, but like I was the parent was like, yeah, like I'll drive them to there and drop them off. Or like, yeah, like I'll, pick everybody up from pictures and like take them to the restaurant.
00:35:58
Speaker
I want to see to their safety first and foremost, of course, because you know, I'm a good mom, but I also like, I need to be in the know, like what's going on. Like who's date, who's together. Like what's the vibe. I'm too nosy for my own good. So carpool mom is, is the life is the life.
00:36:16
Speaker
No, I agree. I'm, I, amm I'm pretty sure I'm, dying I'm self-diagnosed as chronically nosy. Like it's a disease. um I am chronically nosy. It's a chronic disorder.
00:36:29
Speaker
And it's like, I'm sure everyone has seen the videos. Like, you know, when there's an ambulance in my neighborhood, do I need to come help or what's going on in there? You know, when you go online and you said you just got your bonus, how much was it?
00:36:44
Speaker
would you get, you know, like when, like, have you, have you seen these videos of the chronically nosy lady? She literally describes, this is what she describes. And it's, they're hilarious. You guys have to look her up. She's so funny. she She's like just doing her makeup and she's like I'm chronically nosy. Like when you're posting, oh my gosh, we've had our ups and downs. What are the downs?
00:37:04
Speaker
Yeah. I've seen the apps. What are the downs? Tell me about it. It's she's hilarious. so and I wish I knew what her like handle was everybody because so could go. That's so funny.
00:37:15
Speaker
So yes, I'm chronically nosy. Sign me up. to carpool, especially when they're older. Yes, please. Oh yeah. When they're older, for sure. You know, but you know, the fact that we can own up to being like, you're like, I'm nosy. Like I'll say that to like, but like work stuff sometimes i'm like, listen, I'm nosy. And I'll ask the question. I have no shame. Just letting them know, like, I don't need you to think, oh my God, she's a little nosy. I'm going to admit about myself because I, I, I know that.
00:37:41
Speaker
So it was like, what didn na what's three things that you know about Annie? One, she's nosy as hell. to i don't know I don't care what two and three are Nosey's going to come up. Nosey's going to come up. Yeah. Like I need to know.
00:37:54
Speaker
I really, and not only I need to know, i want to know and I must know. Yeah. Yep. Right there with you. You know. You know.
00:38:05
Speaker
um Okay. Would you rather fold laundry forever or unload the dishwasher forever? I think this is such a hard one.
00:38:16
Speaker
No, dishwasher for the rest of my life. Yeah, I think I would have to agree. If I could get clothes, new clothes for every time I wore something and never have to do laundry, I would. Sustainability what? Like, i can't.
00:38:32
Speaker
i told it It's the folding. It's the matching. The socks. It is. It's everything. I hate it. I hate it. Because then it's not only folding. Then you're putting them away.
00:38:46
Speaker
hanging stuff. The folding stuff in the right drawer. Oh, we got to fold these a certain way because they sit up this way. but No. Dishwasher all day. i would do the dishwasher multiple times a day. i don't care. So true. I would. Okay. so here's here's a follow-up question to the dishwasher. I agree with you. I would take dishwasher as well.
00:39:02
Speaker
But. going Oh my gosh. Anyways, literally daylight savings is getting to me. but As we said, everyone's still talking about it. I'm still talking about it. We're going to.
00:39:16
Speaker
Now I forgot my question. What was I saying? It was something about the dishwasher. It's funny because we were talking about like, oh, would you rather cook every day or clean the dishes? Clean the dishes is like hand cleaning the kitchen, you guys. It's like hand. That sounds just like, oh, everything goes in the dishwasher. I'm done. No, this is like you're washing the pans. You're washing the weird like.
00:39:35
Speaker
you shit that can't go in the dish yeah this's this is shit that can't go in the dishwasher okay like the pans like the i don't put wooden spoons in there because i get freaked out about like i don't know water and sitting in there and mold i don't i don't know i'm ridiculous um but the things that can't go in the dishwasher but with this question i prefer the dishwasher over the laundry yeah no i agree i agree and i don't remember my question was That's okay. Then we'll just skim. We'll skim right over into the final. I think this is the final question that we, oh no, we have two more. we have two more here.
00:40:11
Speaker
Yes. Would you rather, would you rather your child repeat everything you says or everything you says? you guys. datelight why whatm is This podcast, this episode is sponsored by Daylight Daytime. Would you rather your child repeat everything you say or everything your partner says?
00:40:32
Speaker
Probably my partner because I talk more. I was going to say, honestly, I was going to say the same thing because I think I sometimes have a foul mouth, not around my kids, but I think I, I think I cuss more.
00:40:51
Speaker
Yeah. Oh, I definitely cuss more. Yeah. That's for sure. Yeah. And I say things like, um what did I say? Like, oh my God. I've said Jesus Christ. And like, I've had like my two-year-old say like, Jesus Christ. And I'm like, oh, that's not cute. when I mean, it's it's funny, but it's not cute coming from like.
00:41:11
Speaker
Mine's Jesus. I'm like, oh Jesus. So now I have to say, our new thing is, oh brother. That's we say. Oh. And Becca likes to say, oh, sugar plums. I'm like, I love that one. Let's use sugar plums. Let's definitely use sugar plums. That's much nicer.
00:41:26
Speaker
Much nicer. no Don't say Jesus. I'm like, he's like, but you say it And I'm like, yeah, I don't i don't mean to say out yeah mommy got it. I'm better. i say, oh, brother. Like I'm like, oh, brother.
00:41:40
Speaker
brother. Here we go. Definitely the 1000%. Same. I think that would be. And again, he talks less than I do. So I wouldn't get hearing same thing twice.
00:41:53
Speaker
Yeah, can't really can't really really repeat much when, ah not like Ben's like a mute, but like, yeah I get you're saying. Yes, exactly. um Okay. And for our final, would you rather, would you rather help with two hours of homework every night or drive to activities every night?
00:42:15
Speaker
Homework. Two hours of homework every night. I can do that. What if that homework is math? Oh, well I mean, as they get older, that's just not going to happen. But the activities part, because like we're going through and you got you guys to like going through like the sports and after school things.
00:42:36
Speaker
It adds to the complexity of dinners and making sure you have the stuff for dinner. Do you do a crock pot meal? Are we eating out tonight? Like it just adds to the complexity.
00:42:47
Speaker
of it. So I'm going to go with the two hours of homework and we're just going to hope when we have to do our like doubles math that I can, I can succeed. The way first graders have to do math is insane.
00:42:59
Speaker
Insane. Why are we putting numbers in bubbles? Why are we splitting up the numbers? Like I have to ask child GBT. And to the point that I, saw I saw this reel that was like, I just tell my kid that I didn't pay attention in school. And so that's why I don't know the answers to certain things.
00:43:15
Speaker
So I tried that. Okay. I told Becca. Oh no. I said, Becca, I don't know, buddy. I didn't pay attention to school. so So now, you know what the rebuttal is every time. He's mom, why didn't you pay attention to school? Like he wants do that. I'm like, now do I tell him lied? Like, yeah I can't take that back. Well, now he's going remember that. And he's going to run with this for the rest of his life. He's been needs's me telling his friends, like, again my mom didn't pay attention to school. Oh, he has. I've literally heard him.
00:43:41
Speaker
I've literally heard him say, mom didn't pay attention to school. So so he can she can't help me with my math homework. Oh my God. okay, I've made a terrible mistake, but now I can't take it back and just, yeah. Anyways, thank God he loves math and he's good at it. So he barely needs my help in that department.
00:43:57
Speaker
But, um, yeah, I think I, so that is a tough one for me, but you kind of sold me on the, on the homework version simply because you're right. When there is so many activities, karate dance, clubs after school, whatever it may be, like the amount of time that takes away from your day is insanity. Like yeah it's too stressful.
00:44:25
Speaker
Yeah. And by the time it's done, you're like, okay, need to get home. You can't think about dinner unless, again, unless you've like โ€“ someone's at home ah like cooking, like you're doing a sport while they're at home cooking. God forbid there's two sports in the same day or two activities in the same day. It's just, it's too much. So I'll take the homework. And then you know what? When we're done with the homework, I'm going to be probably pouring a glass of this wine and cheersing to myself for figuring out the devil's equation, devil's math equations.
00:44:52
Speaker
Figure out long division. and gosh Like, thank God we're not there yet, but please pray for me when we are. I know. I know. Because again, as Becca likes to tell everybody, my mom didn't pay attention to school. So yeah I'm living that life right now. I cannot. That is that is hilarious.
00:45:11
Speaker
He's so smart. But yeah, this wine, I'm and just so happy that it worked out, honestly. Same. Same. I was... The hopefulness worked out. Now, we like we said, we're always โ€“ feel like every single episode is like, we're excited. We're so hopeful for this. And we have to stop, right? We're always โ€“ at some point, we're just setting ourselves up for โ€“ Disappointed. And setting ourselves up for failure. But for this one, i think we like hit it out of the ballpark. And congrats to you because you โ€“ it was between this and like a Riesling. And I was like in the state of mind where I was just coming off of this weekend. There was just so much going on โ€“
00:45:51
Speaker
I could not chance. You needed a win. needed a win. And I was more hopeful of the Sauvignon Blanc being a win opposed to the Riesling. So I'm so glad that you sent this my way. going to lie.
00:46:04
Speaker
You're welcome. You're so welcome. Well, I don't think we've โ€“ I think we've done maybe one or two Riesling in like seven seasons. So I was like, this would be different. So who knows? The Riesling may still be at play for not next week but the following week. Maybe. Yeah.
00:46:19
Speaker
But this, this, i I mean, like I said, top of pyramid of the week. Like if we had to like rate the wines right now, this one would be definitely crowned the queen.
00:46:34
Speaker
Yeah. This one is very, very good. Do you think you know what you're corking it at?
00:46:41
Speaker
I know where I'm kind of like sitting at. Okay. Um, <unk>s a nice cork. I'm not going lie. Um, but let me, let me, I have like maybe two more sips in this.
00:46:53
Speaker
I know I have like not much left. So it's like towards the end of the episode, I was like trying not to have like, this is maybe like a sip or two. I think I know where I'm at. It's pretty, it's pretty, it's tall order. I can tell you that it's pretty tall. i think Yeah. I think i know where I'm at too.
00:47:14
Speaker
She was shot at the same time again. you want to? okay No, I feel like that didn't work last time. It didn't. It really didn't. I did um was all Okay. Do you want to go first?
00:47:26
Speaker
Okay. I will. Okay. So you have to remember, like when we cork, it's not just based off of the taste. We're taking everything in consideration. The bottle looks, label looks, the storyline. how,
00:47:40
Speaker
how i mean I don't know if you take this in consideration, but how well the description matches the wine. I sometimes take that into consideration because I'm like, yeah dirt? you know Dirt, we don't want it. We don't want it. Yeah, never forget dirt being a description. um But this one really just nails and embodies the entire storyline.
00:48:02
Speaker
my gosh, she's but the buildup, the buildup. No, the buildup. that's why I can't wait. And I think that's why It's such a good wine. I think this would be a great wine to gift too. I would definitely put this out on the table. So with that being said, I'm corking the Savvy B an 8.7.
00:48:23
Speaker
Very nice. Wow. said, 8.7. very nice wow how an intermit for me like i said eight point seven That's amazing. I was this close to being an 8.7, but you know what i said? I said, that sounds you know what sounds better than 8.7 8.8? Oh. 8.8. Just one number Just.
00:48:44
Speaker
oh eight eight just one over up just I'm dead. Of course. Of course, you nailed it. Just ate eight. So um all the same sentiments as you. I think it would โ€“ I love that you said you would place this out on a table because it is such a beautiful wine bottle. And 1,000% is something that's so โ€“ like just to have on your table as like guests come in, obviously already chilled.
00:49:11
Speaker
We know the 20 minutes before serving rule with white wine, the 20 minutes before serving rule with red wine. And so having this out on your table would just kind of like complete your tablescape, complete a nice little like girls dinner, whatever you're doing. so I'm there for it.
00:49:27
Speaker
Chris, absolutely beautiful. And it was the perfect little pairing for a would you rather kind of night. It absolutely was. Crisp, light. It's very light, by the way. Like almost goes down a little too easy.
00:49:41
Speaker
okay Like, yeah. could Finish the bottle type of vibe, you know, could have another glass after this episode. Yeah. 1000%. I had frozen mangoes and jalapenos to get the same, but that'll be for another day. But yeah, I mean, i think everyone needs to go give this one a try for sure.
00:50:02
Speaker
Yeah, I agree. no Give it a whirl. No further notes. nerf No further notes on our would you rather questions. And I'm about to take my last little sip here, you guys. So cheers.
00:50:13
Speaker
I know. So with that, that's a wrap. That's our show. That's all the Mama T we have for today. Thank you so much for listening. Don't forget to rate and review us on whatever platform you're listening on. As always, tell all your friends and keep on whining.
00:50:27
Speaker
Cheers.
