Season Finale Reflections

00:00:00
Speaker
Welcome to Wine Mama, a podcast where two bestie moms whine while they whine. I'm Annie. And I'm Jemina. Let's whine. And it's closing time.
00:00:12
Speaker
You don't have to go home, but you can go back to previous seasons and listen to, you know, any season that you have not listened to for us. But here we are again at another season finale with my fabulous co-host, Annie.
00:00:28
Speaker
How you doing over there? I'm great. I'm kind of in shock that we're filming, filming, recording all the above the season finale for season six. I'm very proud of us. I know we, I know, i feel like we're always, we're always like, like Oh my gosh, can't we, made we made another season, but I really do. mean, six is a lot of frigging season. That's a lot of talking.
00:00:50
Speaker
It's a lot of conversation, a lot of frigging wine. So I'm very proud of us for having another finale in the books. I'm with you And we're going to end up with a bang per usual.
00:01:02
Speaker
i don't i don't know what further more than that and just our normal shenanigans, let's be honest. But I just felt right to say that. I was wondering what the bang was. I was waiting for what you were to say. I'm like, is it the wine that's the bang? is it Do we have a surprise that I don't know about? It's a surprise for me and our listeners? No? No?
00:01:21
Speaker
No. Literally just felt right. Just felt right to say going out with the bang. Well, before we go out with the bang, how's it going? Are you ready for like a little rest and relaxation over the holidays while we recoup or what's going on over there with you guys? That is such a funny way to put it Relax during the holidays. What an oxymoron of. LOL.
00:01:46
Speaker
LOL. What would you call it? I have to hear. What'd you call it? Oxy what? Oxymoron. oxymoron oxymoron yeah yeah um uh yeah like i don't i honestly cannot believe the holidays are upon us already literally i black we say this every time but i black out as soon as october 1st hits honestly as soon as september like 15th hits because that's like right around avery's birthday so it's just like that kicks off holiday season for me So, yeah, no, i I am not ready to relax. I feel like my my never ending to do list is just ever growing um for the things that I want to get done before the new year. And I feel

Holiday Chaos and Celebrations

00:02:29
Speaker
like it's November already. And how did we get here?
00:02:33
Speaker
I have what? Probably less than 30 days, less than 30, like business days for sure. Mm hmm. Yeah. So that's how I feel. Are you ready to relax? How's it going over there?
00:02:44
Speaker
Because you guys had a very big weekend. I need like to chill out. Greg was like, Andy, when is it too much? Like you, you got to stop. You have to stop because I told him i signed on to help be one of the committee members for an event at Kennedy school.
00:03:01
Speaker
and he was like, when are you going to do that? Like, when are you like genuinely, when are you going to help plan that? I'm like, I don't know. This is to be great. It's to be fine. I now have given us all of our service hours we need for the year because I'm doing this. So me.
00:03:15
Speaker
But no, we had a really busy weekend. We had obviously everybody had Halloween on Friday, but Friday we had ah Halloween stuff at Kennedy School.
00:03:26
Speaker
And then we did lunch for her birthday because her birthday was on Saturday and it was also her birthday party day. So we did her lunch on Friday and then we turned around and went to Charlie's Halloween thing at her school.
00:03:41
Speaker
And then as soon as we got home from that, we changed. i went trick or treating with friends And then sunday or Saturday was her birthday. So we did her birthday brunch, started getting the house ready. Her birthday party was that evening that you guys came to. There were more people in my house than I realized I was going to have.
00:03:58
Speaker
So, but it was the best time. I think the all the girls, like all the kids had, I feel i feel like they had the best time. And Kennedy was just so happy and excited the whole time. And that's like what it's all about, right? Like I know you're a huge...
00:04:10
Speaker
party planner yourself but like when your kids are having fun or like excited and you like see that genuine like happiness on their face i'm like put me through whatever put me through whatever need be to like see that joy in them so and then we did clean i i literally don't even know my name you guys i know i introduced myself with the beginning of this podcast that's probably the first time i've known my name all day today and then And then Sunday she did shopping for her birthday with my aunt.
00:04:41
Speaker
And then we took them to a K-pop Demon Hunter sing-along at the Tampa Theater downtown. And so I need to get a grip on my life. And I need to just, I need to chill.
00:04:54
Speaker
But we're going to, as we talked about on the podcast with Aubrey last week, we're going up to Tallahassee this weekend to do the FSU tour. And then basically it's, it's yeah ho, ho, ho, Merry Christmas. And it's going be January first Literally, you blink.
00:05:09
Speaker
You blink and it's there. And it's just like there's no that's it. Then it's the new year Groundhog's Day. Let's wrap

Wine of the Week: Rose Blood Rosé

00:05:17
Speaker
it up, start it again. do it again. Well, so your intro was quite fitting when you say closing time. so Yeah, closing.
00:05:25
Speaker
Because, again, ah we are the same person and it's very hard to say no. Like it's oh, this is a this is a reminder to all and to ourselves when we listen back to this. It's okay to say no. We don't have to, one, be included in everything, and two, accept everything we get invited to.
00:05:43
Speaker
Like, we do it to ourselves. Like, yeah literally, we do it to ourselves. Now, my thing, though, is, like, I have FOMO. Yeah. like And the holiday season is like number one time, right? Like people are doing little get togethers or like class things. and And there's all this stuff where there's so many things to remember. And I'm not saying to be like, oh, well, you don't really need to get the teacher the.
00:06:08
Speaker
the Christmas gift. You don't need a, you do. you i mean, you don't have to, but like you probably should, because they do a lot for you and your family and your kids. But like, I'm talking about the extracurricular things that you kind of maybe like take a step back.
00:06:21
Speaker
But I mean, you've got like your secret Santa with friends or with family that you've got a plan. It's just like everything. It's, it's everything. So I feel like a glass of wine right now, before we get into kind of our season six wrap up and look ahead.
00:06:37
Speaker
i think a glass of wine is perfect. So shall we wine with our wine of the week? Yes, Lord, please. I need it. Lord, please. So you called out that we had not had a rosé this season and silly us. tonight, today we are drinking the rose blood rosé.
00:06:57
Speaker
it sounds honestly sounds like, I don't know, rose blood. Like it just doesn't sound intriguing nor appetizing, but the bottle is very cute.
00:07:09
Speaker
Yes. The bottle is very cute. And you guys, this estate in, so it's in Provence. That's where like most roses come from. This estate is so beautiful.
00:07:22
Speaker
When we were looking up the stuff, I was like, domi you, you have to look at this. This is the most incredible. and And know I've said this, we've said this about some estates before, but like, really just breathtaking. So if you want to pop it open on your phone or on on your computer, cause you know, some of us do use our computers.
00:07:39
Speaker
We'll chat about that. wellll We'll chat. ah We'll chat about that. Um, while you're listening to this, uh, information about the wine and kind of like see yourself there, picture yourself there. i encourage you to do so.
00:07:51
Speaker
It's gorgeous. It's literally like, I hope like it's like they have rooms to stay there because it's, it's honestly, it gives, um, It gives, I know it's in France, but it gives very much the scenic view of the parent trap at Nick's house.
00:08:10
Speaker
It absolutely does. And you're onto something there so about the um about the rooms and the stays. listen to this. Located in the heart of the Alpilla Mountains since 1489, Chateau d'Estiboulon,
00:08:23
Speaker
chateau de e sibuan I did not pronounce that correctly, but it is what it is, is a 300 hectare estate with which lives to the rhythm of olive harvest and grape harvest. You heard that right. Olives and grapes from olive growing to viticulture, including a refined restaurant and a castle that can be privatized.
00:08:42
Speaker
Each facet of Estebuyan reflects their quest for excellence. This precious heritage passed down from generation to generation bears witness to the deep family history of Estebuyan, united by a common passion for the culture of the land and its treasures.
00:08:58
Speaker
Olives and grapes. Someone get me on a flight right now. Right now. can bury me there. They do both. You can bury me there. That seems like the place to be.
00:09:12
Speaker
I've got fresh olives for a dirty martini and I've got wine for the rest of my life. So what more could you house for? can you imagine? And like the olive oils, like they do olive oils and stuff. Like i dip some focaccia in that, some fresh sourdough straight out of the oven from mother. Like, yes, sign me up. That literally sounds incredible. And it,
00:09:38
Speaker
It makes sense because it tracks with the ambiance. Yeah. if you look it up and you see what this place looks like and just like the scenery and just everything about it, like it tracks.
00:09:50
Speaker
But with that as well, the liveliness and floor notes are expressed, constantly reinventing the myth with each sip. Ooh, I like that. I like that saying, reinventing the myth.
00:10:03
Speaker
Roseblood has a lovely pale luminous color with a rose water hue. The nose is deliciously expressive, which I can vouch because I did say it it does smell very good. It With notes of apricot and peony.
00:10:18
Speaker
o peony is one of my favorite flowers. I know. So that is the first I think I've ever seen in a description. um On the palate, it is lively and elegant with a freshness reminiscent of peach and me merlon merlin. Merlin? It is melon. That is my misspelling of melon. You you see.
00:10:40
Speaker
You see where I'm at, everyone. and i was reading along with you and in my head I was like, shit, shit. shit i knew I knew you were going to take that word for word. I knew it. That was a setup. That was a setup. You know my trauma and you literally set me up on the last freaking word.
00:10:57
Speaker
how dare you. It's not even like underlined on my phone to fix it. Like it didn't even try to fix it for me. It was like, no, she's not well. We're just going to leave it at Merlin's. So Merlin is the key the key to tonight's rosé.

Season Highlights and Guest Reflections

00:11:12
Speaker
Oh, my God. a new fruit. So sorry. I did not set you up for that. But, again, I was reading along, and I was like, oh, it's too late to try to go in there and fix it because you were on peach. And i was like, um This is priced very affordably. It is anywhere between $19 and $25. Jameen and got ours from ABC.
00:11:26
Speaker
think it's available at Total Wine. So, you pretty i think also i think it's also available at total wine so you know pretty don't want see widely available, pretty widely available. And I'm very excited to try to try it. Are you ready?
00:11:45
Speaker
Yes, I'm ready. I'm trying to keep mine. Mine, unfortunately, was not as chilled as long as I would want it to be chilled. Right. So, you know, I'm hooking this stainless, what it called? Stainless steel? Stainless steel. What are these called? It's Corksicle brand. This is not an ad, but it's Corksicle.
00:12:02
Speaker
But wouldn't mind it wouldn't mine if it was, though. Want it to be an ad. It could be, but love me a good corks corks court. ah Now I can't, they're not going to fund us now. mer mer Merlin, more Merlin and corks corks are cool.
00:12:17
Speaker
Anyways, I will let you guys know if it's, if it keeps it as cool as it possibly can throughout the episode. Um, and then let you know if you can, you should invest or not, but anyways, I'm ready take a step. Are you ready to take a step? I'm ready. All right. tears Cheers. Cheers.
00:12:38
Speaker
okay
00:12:41
Speaker
Oh, okay.
00:12:44
Speaker
I needed that. I needed the second one. yeah I think I'm like, i don't want to say it's great and I'm not saying it's bad. I think I need to just continue to sip on it to really feel it out.
00:12:55
Speaker
Okay. That's fair. that's That's what the episode's for. right I don't, but it's not bad. Like it's not a bad rosé to start off on, if that makes sense.
00:13:07
Speaker
But you're also not saying it's great. So maybe you're just somewhere in the middle right I'm also not fair that it's, you know, life changing. Right. It's not like, oh my God, this is the best thing i ever had my life. That's okay. Right. But again, i do want to remind everyone that it's probably not to my desired temperature.
00:13:22
Speaker
And I think that can also make a big difference. I think mine is the same way too. I did have it in the freezer before this because we, it can its it's been it's been a time for both of us.
00:13:34
Speaker
so
00:13:37
Speaker
And that is, yeah, it was one of those um forgot to cool it in time vibes. um But here we are. You know, we, we, per we perfect persevere and overcome.
00:13:49
Speaker
This is such a fun episode to do because we kind of like look back at the season and some of our favorite things. We're going to also talk about some of the worst items of the, of the season. And then we'll do like a little,
00:14:07
Speaker
look ahead. So Jamina, my lovely co-host, where do you want to go first? Do you want to talk wines? Do you want to talk favorite moments? I want to talk favorite moments because that's usually like my favorite part of this final recap, because thinking back to like, okay, there's so many different things that you can think of when you think of a favorite moment from like a season.
00:14:31
Speaker
Mine is always What made me giggle and laugh the most yeah and like memorable yeah to me. um that's you That's always like what I go to. i mean, don't get me wrong. There's tons of other memorable moments and conversations, especially like deep conversations that we had with guests.
00:14:48
Speaker
um that enlightened us or just conversations that we had in general and like perspective, such as when you told me to watch the new Maleficent movie that I've never seen because I thought that was Prince, the Prince Philip and not the Demi. Yes.
00:15:06
Speaker
ah Like, you know, I, it's, it's, you know what, this is a very informative podcast as well. Like you learn a lot. So listen, we only spit straight facts here on my podcast. straight facts that was prince philip for sure was talking no prince philip i'm like no no prince philip is not dancing with maleficent i'm like have you never seen the movie a sleeping beauty like and you're like no it's the movie maleficent actually you idiot which i will still stand by that movie is so good if you guys have not seen that i think there's two the it is
00:15:43
Speaker
fantastic it is a fantastic movie i'm i you don't have to be there's two maleficents i want to say there's two maleficents i want to say that but don't i but i know i just said we spit straight facts here but like o maybe but i feel like now we're lying really swear angel and julie only did that one I can't spell Maleficent. She's going to fact check us real real quick because I swear it was only the one. I don't remember seeing a trailer for another one.
00:16:11
Speaker
There is two? Who's in the second one? oh maybe not. She said, oh, she's silently retracting the comment back.
00:16:23
Speaker
Yeah, you guys, just like literally just don't just ignore me, please, sometimes. Just disregard. Disregard. No, but I do need to watch it. um But, you know, like, again, memorable moments. Like, that is a memorable moment ah for educational purposes but like to discuss like my favorite memorable moment oh my god wait no there is two there is two there is two i'm so sorry everyone on the second one 2014 was the original one yes and then is maleficent mistress of evil
00:16:54
Speaker
So it continues the story of Maleficent and it still stars Angelina Jolie. Okay. I have not seen the second one, so I cannot speak to the second one, everyone. I am just speaking to the original, the OG.
00:17:08
Speaker
Was it advertised? I mean, it must have been if i had this floating around in my head for all of these years. Literally don't remember seeing one trailer. The only trailer I remember seeing is the original Maleficent. The original.
00:17:22
Speaker
Well, I can speak to the original. and It is very good. I'm so sorry I interrupted you, but I was like, wait a second. I'm on to something here. i'm seeing. I'm seeing a second. We need to fact check. i enjoy I enjoy when we can fact check on the spot because then we don't.
00:17:34
Speaker
Not only are we not left because we forget to fact check later on, let's be honest. But now our listeners can now have the closure and we can have the closure. That we in fact do. i will say once again, spit straight facts.
00:17:50
Speaker
Facts. Facts here on Wine Mama. Okay. Tell us your favorite moment. I
00:17:59
Speaker
hope our favorite moment is not the same because I like to pick mine in ones that also make me giggle. So What's your favorite moment? It probably is. but Damn it. It always ends up being the same. Okay.
00:18:10
Speaker
And to be fair, you guys, we just have very similar minds and it always like one annoys us because we're too similar, but also like impresses us at the fact that we can think the same thing at the same time. It's like twin telepathy and we're not twins type of vibe. It's weird.
00:18:26
Speaker
It's weird sometimes, but also kind of cool. Anyways, my one of my most favorite memorable moments that to this day I giggle and laugh about is Danny DeVito.
00:18:42
Speaker
That one kills me every time. When Annie was trying to say living the Vita Loca, she said living DeVito. I was like, that's not.
00:18:55
Speaker
And mainly, I think the reason it made me laugh the most is because I'm always the one butchering sayings. And the fact that she butchered it and like included Danny DeVito in it. And it's just like it just made my day. So like that is one of my most favor favorite, favorite moments of the season because I still laugh about Danny DeVito. same like how like how did danny devito find his way onto being a topic of conversation on why mama like who would have ever thought that he would be right oh my god i that would make me laugh too that was a good did we have the same one we have a different one we did not i have a different one mine is from um so the danny devito one was ah that was episode two
00:19:39
Speaker
Yeah, it was like early episodes. Yes. And you and this title the title of the episode is actually called Livin' DeVito Loca. so So trust me. That's how funny it was, you guys. That's so funny. We literally made it the title. Yeah.
00:19:52
Speaker
So trust me when I say you guys will find it. My favorite moment was actually during episode four um with our friends from our our traveling tots, Liz and Bree. Do you remember what this was?
00:20:06
Speaker
But we were talking about were laughing. I remember laughing with them a lot. um What were we talking? I i know exactly. It's like on the tip of my tongue because it makes me giggle at the thought. But I can't remember the exact conversation that we were laughing about. It was when you said that Peppa Pig had just had kids.
00:20:26
Speaker
And I was like, and you were talking about this, like, we they were talking about this, like, tea experience you can do on one of those, like, fun buses. they Yes, like a Peppa Pig thing. And you're like, did you guys hear that Peppa just had twins or something like that? And I'm like, and you keep going.
00:20:42
Speaker
And they're, of course, not going to be like, yeah, everyone's like, okay. And I can't get over the fact that Peppa is now grown, grown ass woman having babies. And I was like, wait, Peppa had kids? And you're like, yes, it is in the, it's on whatever, like, is this show?
00:20:56
Speaker
ah they They did an episode about it. And I was like, dang, I thought she was still a little girl. I'm dead. I totally forgot about that. So basically, Peppa Pig did not beat teen pregnancy.
00:21:09
Speaker
It was her mom that had, it was like Peppa has new like, I don't know, siblings or whatever. She was pregnant. Yeah, Peppa's mom was pregnant and gave birth. it was a big moment that, again, we spit, just a reminder to all, spit straight facts.
00:21:26
Speaker
Straight facts here on Wine Baba. Yeah. You may say it incorrectly, but it's still a fact. There is sometimes I listen back and i'm like, yeah, I misspoke when I said that. I said the wrong like word when I say something, yeah but like neither of us really like...
00:21:41
Speaker
catch it i guess keep we just keep going i think it's because we yeah i think it's because we understand each other like we don't even notice that it's wrong because i'll just know what you meant and but then people listening are probably like they're dumb they're like okay idiot you're stupid
00:22:00
Speaker
and don't know why it's so funny but yeah we have had lots of giggles this season we have also had such great guests that we have been able to giggle with Um, and just also like, I think opened up our viewpoints on so many different perspectives.
00:22:19
Speaker
So we never do a favorite guest this season because I think all our guests are our favorites because everyone brings such new, new insight, um, to what they come to share on this podcast.
00:22:31
Speaker
Yeah. There's so many areas of knowledge for us to explore and just like truly like enjoyment. Like I've truly enjoyed everyone that we've had. And I don't know if you guys remember last season, we had some struggles with guests, not in anyone's part or whatever, but just some things fell through.
00:22:48
Speaker
Some people had things come up and we did last season was just Jemena and I, we had zero guests. We got to a certain point in the season where we're like, let's just wrap this up as you and i we're not going to try to reach out to guests. That's kind of like recalibrate ourselves after the season ends.
00:23:04
Speaker
And really, start to have these conversations. And I am so proud of not only us for, you know, um, gathering all of these truly different guests on this season, but I'm so like, I continue to be wowed by the, the people that we have on and the women that we have on because they are just so amazing. Like you learn so much and obviously it's fun for Jamita and I, because we have like we chat with them beforehand when before we start recording and then we get to chat with them afterwards.
00:23:39
Speaker
But it really is such a wealth of information when we sit here and talk to them and we truly get to kind of like dissect who they are and how they are and how they are as moms and um just people in general. And I just, i continue to be so wowed by the people that we have on here. Yeah.
00:23:59
Speaker
I couldn't agree more. It's just so fun to, to like make these

Personal Growth and Achievements

00:24:02
Speaker
connections and like, have these connections everywhere now kind of it seems and it's just like it makes me want to just like book a plane ticket to like go visit all of them because I'm like I feel like in like if this is how much fun we're having like virtually recording like I can only imagine how much fun it would be to like meet you in person and like go to brunch or go have a glass of wine somewhere or whatever it may be like We just had, like you said, everyone was such a wealth of knowledge, but also so funny and so kind and such great moms and like just everything about our guest this season um was really great.
00:24:40
Speaker
Yeah. Including our final guest, who was Aubrey. Yes. Aubrey always brings in some laughs and kind of, what's the word, brings us down back back down to earth a little bit. um And humbles. Yes. She humbles us quite a bit. And, you know, we think we're with it with the times. And she says things. We're like, who?
00:24:58
Speaker
What? So i but I will say, yes, we have had guests over the past six seasons from literally all over the United States. And I think that is amazing.
00:25:11
Speaker
incredible. And like I said, I'm very proud of us and I'm confident in saying the word, like being proud. Like, I think we're allowed to be proud of ourselves, right? Like, um for sure you know, i I feel like that's something that we, you know, i don't know how much I want to say, but there's someone who we are kind of close to who went through something recently. And I was like, I hope you're proud of yourself. I hope that you wake up every day and like, you're allowed to say those things about yourself in whatever aspect of that your life that is right. Like whether you're proud that you got up and went to the gym, whether you're proud that you quit like a habit or whether you're whatever that is. Like I'm, I feel very confident in saying that I am like proud of us. And I feel like people don't often,
00:25:59
Speaker
say those things about themselves, not to get deep, but like, let's be honest, like it feels almost like conceited or egotistical or whatever. Sometimes like im I'm proud of myself for doing that.
00:26:11
Speaker
Um, but I think we should allow be, I would think we should allow ourselves to be proud of ourselves. I it was really long winded. I apologize. No, I think that was very well put because it's so true. Like, I think a lot of people expect, um,
00:26:25
Speaker
to hear those words from a parent or a loved one, you know, like I'm proud of you I'm proud you. And I think it's a great thing to hear and be justified in that sense. But to hear it is one thing.
00:26:38
Speaker
But to also accept it and you to recognize it is a complete different ballgame. And I think that is what is such a huge um milestone to reach as an adult is knowing that you can be proud of the things you've accomplished, the things you continue to try to accomplish.
00:26:56
Speaker
ah You can be proud of the things that you have failed at, honestly. Yeah. there's a reason why you failed them. There's a reason why that path was taken and why it didn't work. And it's okay. It's okay to be proud of that and just say, it didn't work for me. And this is what I tried. And that's what I'm proud of. Like it led me to what I'm proud of now and what I've grown to be now.
00:27:15
Speaker
So no, I think that was very well put, very well done. Not us getting deep. Oh God. Sorry guys. I was going leave on the finale, but like I i do, i I'm, I'm a big believer in like basically believing in yourself. Right.
00:27:29
Speaker
um Anywho, not us getting really deep. ah Do you want to chat wine? Believe in yourself. Believe in yourself. Be yourself. That's good song title. Do you want to chat wines?
00:27:42
Speaker
Let's chat wines. Yes. Okay. Let me open my eye. I had already kind of reviewed all the wines to decide which is my favorite white, favorite red, and then my worst of the season.
00:27:53
Speaker
we want to go? we gotten ball We have to go worst first, right? Okay. Yeah. we We might have the same worst wine. Let's say it at the same time. Okay. Only, I don't have the name. I don't have the name of the wine. I just have the type of wine.
00:28:09
Speaker
Same. That's how I know it's the same wine. That's, i already know it's going to be the same thing because as soon as you said that, i was like, I don't have the name. i have the varietal. Yeah. right.
00:28:20
Speaker
so it's going to be like one, two, three, go. But instead of go, you say it. Okay. Okay. Ready? One, two, three. Chenin Blanc.
00:28:30
Speaker
It was so bad. It was so bad. was bad. was so bad. And we love Chenin Blanc. That's why was so disappointing that that was so bad.
00:28:41
Speaker
Yes. I actually just had a Chenin Blanc. I was at dinner. were we? and there was a Chenin Blanc on the menu and I ordered it. Shoot. Oh, I just had, no, I just had it for, um, for lunch. When we went for Kennedy's birthday, I had a glass, glass of Chenin Blanc and it was great. it was great. So like, I'm like, I know.
00:28:59
Speaker
I know I like a Chenin Blanc, but not that one. Not that. and But specifically not that one If you want to know the name of it, it's in our highlights on Instagram. You can go review it. It's the only Chenin Blanc we did this season. ah And it was just, yeah, definitely worse of the season.
00:29:17
Speaker
Sorry, Chenin. We still love you. We still love you as a varietal and whole, and we don't hold this specific bottle against you. But you were bad. It was bad. it was not. not was not one that we would we would recommend, but I do have a white that I would recommend.
00:29:35
Speaker
Same. know looking at me because you're like, damn it, is it the same one? I'm looking my notes. I'm just looking at notes. Okay, I just want proof. This was written 1.16 p.m. is when my note was written. with it's It's my favorite red, my favorite white, and then my worst at the bottom.
00:29:52
Speaker
I can't see when I wrote this because it's a private note, but oh, edited 8.15 So an hour ago.
00:30:02
Speaker
But I do have it written here in a separate note. So my favorite white of the season was actually one that a guest recommended to us. Oh my God. No, God bless.
00:30:13
Speaker
Was it a Savignon blog? Was it a Molo? Yeah.
00:30:19
Speaker
You guys. Listen, again, i I'm showing you. No, I want to see your red. I don't want to see your red. Can I see your red? i don't want to see your red. Yeah, my red was at the top. home i didn't I didn't look at it. I didn't look.
00:30:30
Speaker
Okay. Yeah. So same our friend Ayana recommended the Emolo Sauvignon Blanc and I really enjoyed that wine. Absolutely.
00:30:42
Speaker
A very, very good Sauvignon Blanc. It was so good. It was So good, you guys. Like, I feel like even if you don't like Sauvignon Blanc or and you wanted to try a Sauvignon Blanc, that was such a good one to start off on.
00:30:57
Speaker
um And if I'm not mistaken, it is from the Caymus family, which we all know, like the Caymus wines are very good to begin with. on But this emo Emolo Sauvignon Blanc, top notch.
00:31:10
Speaker
Yes, that was from episode eight with Ayanna. So um yeah, I love that one. Okay. And I also love, I love when a guest, when a guest is the one that tells us of a new wine and it becomes our favorite, especially when it becomes

Holiday Plans and Future Travels

00:31:28
Speaker
the favorite of the season. Yes.
00:31:29
Speaker
think that's so fun. I don't think we have the same red. I don't think we have the same red either. going to let you go. You want me to go first? I'll go first. Okay. Um, because honestly it surprised me that this was my favorite kind of the season.
00:31:45
Speaker
Um, Mainly because, as we have discussed many a times on this podcast, we kind of transitioned out of our Pinot Noir era.
00:31:57
Speaker
And we kind of transitioned to our Cabernet Sauvignon. So for this to be my favorite bread of the season, I was like, maybe maybe she's back. Maybe she's back. She's back. That was the one that also a guest um'm told us about, and it was brie and Liz from our Traveling Tots.
00:32:15
Speaker
And it was the Bowen, Bowen, I think it was the brand, Pinot no Noir. It was so good. It was so smooth. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was very good. Yeah.
00:32:26
Speaker
Favorite red. Yeah. For sure. I struggled with the red, to be honest with you, because we had three different Pinot Noirs this season. And i really struggled with which one was my favorite, but I ultimately went with the Rayburn Pinot noir and it was, I think I actually said it was very similar to the Bowen and the bone was like a touch sweeter. Um, but I loved that. I like literally, I think I finished the bottle within like, like the next day after we recorded because I was like, this is all good.
00:33:03
Speaker
um But then we also had Sarah who was on and brought us a Willamette Valley Pinot So we had some really great options to kind of push us back into our pianoot Pinot Noir girly selves this season.
00:33:23
Speaker
and think we were just we were just selecting the wrong Pinot Noirs. Yeah. Because, i'm yeah, no, these were... very, very good. I think all three of them were very good.
00:33:35
Speaker
Um, ultimately i went with Bowen just because I felt like me, Oh, me had been such a big Pinot Noir wine for me. And to have like an upscale version of that made it a winner for me. Cause I'm like, wow, this is like, you know, me, Oh, me was the gateway. And now Bowen Pinot Noir was like, that's the a adult one, the grownup one.
00:33:58
Speaker
Yeah, no, I agree. i agree. So who knows, maybe we'll see some more Pinot Noirs next season. speaking Speaking of next season, though, what are you going to What are your plans for between now and in January when we come back? What kind of holiday plans do you guys have?
00:34:17
Speaker
That's a great question. I'm actually not sure myself. Because my brain is so like fried. Like I like can't even function past. um Now, is it Christmas time already in my home? Absolutely. All the decorations came.
00:34:30
Speaker
Halloween was down so Sunday, like November 2nd and only November 2nd because November 1st we had sports, Kenny's party. It was a long day. So otherwise it would have...
00:34:43
Speaker
been down then. But, um, I'm trying to think, so Christmas this year we are spending it at home. We always alternate when you're in Tallahassee, one year at home. Um, so we'll be here this year and we honestly don't have that many plans.
00:34:57
Speaker
I really, really like we were this close. Like when I say this goes like this close, really wanted to take the kids to the Macy's day parade. this year. Um, mainly because we are way overdue for a trip up there to visit Ben's family. And, um, I know Ben really wants to take the kids up there to meet, you know, his dad's brothers and, you know, that side of the family.
00:35:22
Speaker
so I was like, well, all right, let's do it. Bucket list. Yeah. Bucket list. yeah but And even told him, I was like, let's just find a hotel on the route. Like we don't even have to go out. Like let's just find a hotel on the right. We can watch it from the window. Honestly. Like, I don't care. Like, I just want to like see it.
00:35:37
Speaker
um But you guys, it's only $3,000 a night with a three-night minimum. Insane. For any hotel on the route. Insane. Insane. Even like a motel. Like I looked at the cheapest of cheapest um and everything has a minimum of night stay and it's like $3,000.
00:35:56
Speaker
That was put on hold. So that's a no for right now. Check back next season. oh It's going to a no, but I kind of am still feeling maybe like Christmas in New York type vibes. Like, I don't know. I kind of still want to like go back. It really wants see snow. So like, I'm in the process of like planning this in my head.
00:36:19
Speaker
I just have not yet executed fully the plan. Um, Aubrey has been sending me every single Tik TOK. That's like Christmas in New York. That was her first time in New York. We did a girl's trip with me, her, my mom and my mother-in-law.
00:36:37
Speaker
And we all went in and then of course, Greg's sister lives up there. So she joined us as well. So she keeps getting sending me stuff. I'm like, now you're getting me with the New York Christmastime itchies. Like, I need you to stop because now I'm like, you know, you know, we love a trip.
00:36:51
Speaker
Me and you, we love, we love a trip. We love to plan. love And I'm like, please. And she knows that about me. She knows I love New York. She knows I love New York at Christmastime. like, you need to stop. You need to stop right now.
00:37:02
Speaker
It's magical. It's just something about it. Something about the tree. I did see that the tree was selected. I don't know if you saw, but it was selected. um it's actually from New York this year. It's from upstate Northern New York.
00:37:15
Speaker
And it's actually being cut down today. I think November 3rd is supposed to be cut down and then it's if supposed to start traveling, but the lighting ceremony won't be until like mid November. I think I saw, I can't remember, but Yeah. so that like alone was like, Oh, that'd be so cool. And so exciting. so ah So basically no plans as of yet. I'm still struggling trying to figure out like Christmas gifts and stuff like that. You know, i'm just like, I, like, I need everyone to give me submit your list by black Friday, please. Like I asked for this every year that way I can just black Friday shop and like
00:37:51
Speaker
feel like one of those accomplished people that like doesn't have to stress closer to Christmas time, but no one sends me their list until literally like two weeks over Christmas. And I'm like, cool. Like, thank you so much for your service. Right. Let the stress shopping begin. Thank you so much.
00:38:06
Speaker
Literally. Yeah. But anyways, what, what's the pile fam up to this winter break? What are you guys feeling? What's the vibe? What's the vibe? It's the same vibe, which is fine. It's what makes what we enjoy to do. So for Thanksgiving, we'll go up to Greg's parents house in Georgia and we'll spend Thanksgiving break there. We have the college tour that Aubrey talked about last week up at the university of Tennessee. I've never been in Knoxville. I've never seen, obviously I've never been in Knoxville. I've never seen university of Tennessee, but never seen university of Tennessee campus. So we're really excited to get to do that.
00:38:42
Speaker
And then we're there for the week. And then Christmas is back to Georgia. But at my sister, she lives right outside of Savannah. We're going do Christmas at her house again. We are actually going to go up Christmas day, which I'm really excited about. So we've been laying off of like traveling Christmas day the past few years, just cause it's a lot, but I feel really strongly about it. Like my brother and sister-in-law decided to travel there. My parents spend Christmas a few days before Christmas even like they spend the whole time with my sister up there and her family.
00:39:12
Speaker
So i want to make sure that we like that my family is also there on Christmas day with them to just kind of have that time. So I'm really excited for that. But now that you mentioned New York, Greg just told me today, he was asking about a date, like in a few weeks, if we were open, cause he has like a work trip, just like literally one night in the city. And I'm like, do I do i buy myself a plane ticket? And not by myself. It's like Greg and I buy my ticket, you know what I'm saying? Like buy plane, like,
00:39:41
Speaker
Hotel would be paid for. His plane ticket's paid for. Do I just have a day? Tag along? Tag along. yeah Do I tag along? I mean, why not? Is it just one day? with Literally a day. But I'm like, I can't take off work. And then literally two days later is like Thanksgiving break when I'm taking off like the whole week.
00:39:58
Speaker
So like, I don't think my boss it appreciate it I took off like a week and a half for, yeah. So anywho, but now I'm in my head. I'm like, well, you know, the dark if the if the tree's going to be there. Okay.
00:40:11
Speaker
How can I make this work? And then recently we just had um during Beckett's football, last football game, because I've been dying to, and I think this, this is, this is what we need to do, Annie. I think this is going to be our trip next year. We're going to do family trips.
00:40:27
Speaker
Okay. Tell me, tell me this because I'm already plotting my family trip in my head for the summer. So tell me, tell me where this is going. Yeah. it's go I think it would be an incredible summer. family trip because I've, I've been fed some ads and I've kind of looked into it and then, well, you already know where my, you already you know where my head is I already, pitch you know, i already pitched you on my month long. Anywho, tell me. Yeah, no, no, that is, that can certainly happen. that That's not part of the family trip. Okay. Okay.
00:40:56
Speaker
It's the, um, Alani Hawaii ah Disney Resort and it ain't cheap. And they literally were like, it's not cheap, but I promise you the age that your kids are at right now, you don't need to leave the resort. It was literally the most incredible time they spent. Like it's Disney catered obviously, cause it's a Disney resort and in, in I think it's in Kauai, which is where Jurassic park was filmed.
00:41:24
Speaker
Isn't Koi don't fact track me on that. We spit street facts here, you know, yeah we spit facts, but anyways, they were like, literally it was the best time and the best hotel and everything about it it was disney service the luau that they provide is very kid friendly everything they provide was just like they have a they have a kid camp so you could literally drop your kid off for the day um as if you know because it's disney so like i'm sure they do fantastic things yeah
00:41:56
Speaker
And you can have an adult day. So I was like, the more they fed me, the more I was like, there's a reason I've been getting fed these ads. And I think, I think we need to do this. I'm like, we got to just put on the credit card. That's not real money. Yeah.
00:42:10
Speaker
And make money, just go right. Get some points and go. So I think we need, I think we need to invest because our kids are at the ripe age of Disney fan fandom right now.
00:42:21
Speaker
And which, I mean, i think, Even when they're older, they would probably enjoy it. Let's be honest. Who doesn't love like a good nostalgic? Well, and I mean, come on. It's Hawaii. It's Hawaii.
00:42:32
Speaker
But mostly it's in Hawaii. No matter what age I'm like, i cause I'm thinking about Aubrey. I mean, she'd probably Oh my God, a Disney hotel. But like, listen, you're literally in Hawaii. And apparently you get unlimited, well it's unlimited like Mickey ice creams and stuff like that. But because it's Hawaii, you also get their unlimited shaved ice and it comes in the shape of like a Mickey.
00:42:52
Speaker
And you can just like get all the different Hawaiian flavors they have. And I'm just like. My kids would never want to leave. Like we would be, we would be residences of Hawaii, but like specifically the resorts.

Podcast Future and Season Wrap-up

00:43:04
Speaker
Oh, and even better, you know what else they told me? Target will deliver to the hotel. So if you forgot something, Target will deliver to your hotel. my God. Well, this is sound this is sounding better and better.
00:43:16
Speaker
this i mean, does it get better than also like a kid camp? like No, so you can have a little bit of like parent... Parent relaxation time. Yeah. A babysitter or a nanny or a family member.
00:43:30
Speaker
ah you don't need to bring that extra person. i mean, if they want to come now, sure. Pay your way. but like, this is on you. You actually pay your own way to come and help us out. To come and watch my children.
00:43:43
Speaker
oh But yeah, I was like, wow, you're, and and they're like, literally it's the best, the best money we've ever spent. And it was amazing. And he was like, your kids are at the right age right now.
00:43:54
Speaker
to to do that. They were like, we would do it every year if we could. Wow. They did also iterate that it's expensive. So, you know, do what your budget feels like. But in my mind, vacation is vacation.
00:44:08
Speaker
It's for the memories. It's for the kids. So while we're off in the holidays, you guys know where Jameen and I's mind will be. um It'll be on next year's vacations and where we'll be going.
00:44:23
Speaker
And how we will talk about it on probably every episode of the next season. Of the next season. Yes. Okay. And speaking of next season, we are already in talks with a couple of guests. So we're very excited about that. Already having conversations. I will say it is really hard.
00:44:38
Speaker
Coming off of one season, we end, obviously, this is our final episode. And then gearing up through the holidays and getting um recording schedules with guests is actually really hard because obviously everyone's super busy.
00:44:52
Speaker
But just excited for the conversations that we have started to have and getting those planned. But we'll be coming back in like mid... but always come back in like the mid-ish, like early to mid-January. we won't be gone for too long. Listen, you guys, the holidays are going fly by.
00:45:07
Speaker
And before you know it, it's going to be lucky number season seven. Lucky number seven, baby. Lucky seven. That's crazy to even think about. Should we kick it off in Las Vegas?
00:45:20
Speaker
my God. Hit me. Greg's like, Annie, please stop. You have to stop coming up with these psycho ideas. I'm like, but they work like in my brain. Like that's, that but just makes sense.
00:45:35
Speaker
It just makes sense. It's good business, it's a business trip. It's a business venture. It's a like business investment. We sought to pay for it, but like, it's a business trip. For sure. But we're going to call it a business investment at that point, you know, and maybe we'll make some money back on it But yeah, I mean, we've had a great season per use. I mean, per usual.
00:45:57
Speaker
I mean, when have we not hostesses with the Moses, shall we say, um before we kind of do our final little wrap ups, do you want to, how are we feeling about the wine? I'm getting, I'm getting happier with it. Okay. That makes sense.
00:46:11
Speaker
How are you feeling about it? I think you didn't really share any initial thoughts. Well, first I took a sip and I was like, Hmm. And then the second step was really hitting. And now like I can taste the fruitiness. I can really, it's a pretty good Rose. Yeah.
00:46:26
Speaker
yeah i'm I'm enjoying it. I think, again, I think the temperature for me, if it was a little improved, I think I would enjoy it even more, but I'm not going to think that against them because that was a me problem. Yeah.
00:46:37
Speaker
yeah That's, that's, an that was an us problem and us. Oh, if you will. a An internal mistake. Um, but no, I'm feeling, I'm feeling good about this and I think I'm ready to cork it. Yeah, I think so.
00:46:53
Speaker
let me take my last step one last step and then i think i'll be ready yeah i can't believe that we didn't have a rose this season when you said that i was like what yeah uh i was kind of surprised so we had an orange wine instead we did we did i was going back through them and like oh my god that orange wine that we had was mean was it was good but everybody loves a rose it was Everyone loves a rosé, a good rosé, but I think I'm ready to cork. I think I've got my number.
00:47:25
Speaker
um don't look at the notes cause I'm putting it in there. I won't. Are you ready? do you feel solidified in your corking? I do. I think I'm ready.
00:47:36
Speaker
i think I'm ready. Yeah. So I am giving this rose blood rosé a 7.8. okay. Yeah. I'm a 7.5. Oh, there we go. there we go So we're around around the same teeter-tontering.
00:47:50
Speaker
Area. Yeah. So very good wine. I will absolutely get again. I love the bottle. the estate is so beautiful. One day I will go there and go to one of these vineyards that we have because I think all the rosés except for one have been from Provence. So one day.
00:48:09
Speaker
One day. We need to go Provence. Again, another business trip. of this one Yes. and and Just like we're going to go on our business trip Willamette Valley to see Sarah. Wonderful.
00:48:19
Speaker
thousand percent Sarah we're coming the way we have annoyed Sarah with telling her to put this on our list every time she posts anything like honestly before we end things and just one final and huge thank you to all our guests um that joined us this season um we truly truly enjoyed every conversation and we love you and sorry that we are so annoying that we think we are like literally best friends and sisters at the hip now that we probably messaged you guys so many times on Instagram.
00:48:53
Speaker
Um, but like, that's how much we really like want to be best friends with all of you. Yeah, no, we are best friends. You guys, that's so silly for you to say, like, we think we are, we, those are, these are all of our dar minds. We are like, but is it reciprocated? sure oh so one of them, going to put this clip up one of them is going to ping us. Like you guys are actually like, it's little creepy.
00:49:13
Speaker
god It's a little creepy guys. It's a little creepy. Um, but I sec, I second that. Do what did you, what'd you say? You guys a little too much, a little too much. Um, but no, I absolutely second that. I, I appreciate, um, everyone who comes comes on here. And I think we said at the beginning of this, right, they come on, they share their knowledge, they share their experiences,
00:49:35
Speaker
You know, there's some that are, there's moments on here where it's like you're almost speechless with um things that are shared and experiences that you could never imagine. And then there's times where we're just laughing and learning new things. And it's just, it's truly.
00:49:53
Speaker
So I feel so lucky that we get to open ourselves up to all of these people. mean, who would have thought when we started this, what now, two, three, three years Three? I've lost track. I had same, same.
00:50:08
Speaker
I think three, this will be like be the end of the third year. You guys, I don't even know, man but who thirty but like, who would have thought like we have met all of these people through this podcast. And for that, I'm so appreciative.
00:50:21
Speaker
and again, six seasons in the books and many more to come. many, many more to come. So cheers to us. Cheers to another season in the books and cheers to hopefully a somewhat relaxing and restful holiday season.
00:50:39
Speaker
But as for this episode, that's a wrap. That is all the season six tea we have for today. Thank you so much for listening. Don't forget to rate and review us on whatever platform you're listening on.
00:50:50
Speaker
As always, tell all your friends and keep on whining. Cheers.
