Introduction & Episode Teaser

00:00:00
Speaker
Welcome to Wine Mama, a podcast where two bestie moms whine while they whine. I'm Annie. And I'm Jemina. Let's whine. And tonight we welcome you to a Wine Mama ramble shenanigans kind of evening. It's like a ramble and gamble. We're going ramble and you're going to gamble as so far as what you're going to get.
00:00:20
Speaker
Exactly. And how far of the... of the episode you're going to listen to at what time are you going to shut us off? You know, like hopefully not because the ending is always the best part. At that point, we really just pump, pump things up, you know, like stick through guys, stick through, stick it through to the end. Maybe we've already lost some people. They're Oh my God, they're going to shoot. No.
00:00:39
Speaker
Yeah. And no, that's okay. That's okay. We love you guys anyways. But we said in the beginning of the season that we were going to start doing more of these kind of just like life chatting life updates, just chatting.
00:00:55
Speaker
And I think that we're both kind of excited to to do that. So what's going on?
00:01:06
Speaker
Let's get straight into it. yeah what's What's happening? No. First, we're going to address the elephant in the room. We're both wearing glasses because we both just have had a day. Okay?
00:01:17
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. And I can't figure like, how ah is your ring light not showing in your glasses? Because it's on my forehead. Okay? It's on my forehead. i I'm trying to tilt my head down. Maybe it's maybe I look up. like not minded right you can You can see it. See the reflection?
00:01:31
Speaker
so if you just kind of, like, tilt your head down, it's not as, like, prominent. Yeah. And it also makes your jawline look snatched because it gives you like a little bit of like a shadow. So, you know. Okay. Maybe this is a more flattering angle. natural. Okay. You guys can't really see this, but all natural out right now. Okay.
00:01:48
Speaker
All natural girlies. Well, if you follow us on Instagram, you can see a little clips, little clips of what we look like. But we aren't changing drinking wine.

Wine of the Week: Aresca Costoretto Barolo

00:01:59
Speaker
Duh. We're still going to drink wine. so before we get into anything, before we get into any stories, anything like that, are you ready to whine with the wine of the week? I'm so ready to whine with the wine of the week. I even brought, because I knew we were rambling and gambling tonight, I brought my XOXO Gossip Girl Bedazzled Wine Glass.
00:02:18
Speaker
Oh, Dad, what is that? It literally, can you see it? It literally says Gossip Girl. Yeah, it's like legit like Gossip Girl like font and everything. Yeah, so I'm ready.
00:02:29
Speaker
I love this for you. She's a Gossip Girlie. a Gossip Girlie tonight. Well, tonight we are drinking the Aresca Costoretto Barolo. I was really scared to pronounce that, but I think I did.
00:02:40
Speaker
i think I think I did okay. think I did okay. Just for Barolo. I think you did wonderful. Justice for Barolo. I'm really excited about drinking a Barolo wine. I know you are as well. We found this one also at Costco. So if you guys remember a couple of weeks ago, we did a Costco wine. We are now doing another one because, you know, i don't think we've ever really tried like purposefully gone to Costco. Like some of the ones we've drank, you can find there, but I'm purposely gone to Costco and found a wine. So we're going to see, and see how this goes.

Exploring Barolo: Tradition & Family

00:03:13
Speaker
Yeah, and the and the first one did burn us a little bit, so we're giving it also another chance, but also with a different varietal. That one we've never tried, and two it's a red, not a white. So, you know, dipping in all the territories here.
00:03:26
Speaker
Really, really dipping our toes into multiple things. Like our feet are really wet, you guys, okay? Our feet are really wet. But this Spirolo made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes from the Piedmont region of Italy is produced according to tradition with long maceration and maturation my gosh, let me do that again.
00:03:48
Speaker
I'm not going go there. and
00:03:54
Speaker
I went from maceration to, it should have been maturation, which I don't even know if it's the word. The fact that you're saying that word again, do you realize what it sounds like when you're saying it? It sounds like masturbation. Perfect. And I'm going to get it.
00:04:11
Speaker
I'm going to get it.
00:04:14
Speaker
Now, I was going to go edit that out. Now I can't. I'm not going to edit it out. No, no. And by three-year-old, I mean like 13-year-old boy because I'm immature because three-year-olds definitely don't know anything about that.
00:04:25
Speaker
We are two just immature little boys. Yeah. That's why instantly started laughing. I was like, this is unwell. Let's just... We're going rewind. You didn't hear any of that. And we're just going to, it's maturation. It's matured. It's matured. It's a grown ass independent woman. Okay. big wooden casks. That's all you need to know.
00:04:47
Speaker
That's all you need to know. The winery is a dream realized by Piero and Luigi Oresca back in 1952. Two to wine grower growers who have turned a passion into a family business.
00:04:58
Speaker
They have never lost sight of their origins. Now the winery is run by the second and third generations. How amazing is that? and We love, we say this every time when we read a caption like this, but we love a family owned business of a winery that just like keeps going and going because one, you know how hard that has to be.
00:05:16
Speaker
but two, what a proud moment when your children and your children's children want to be part of that business and make it grow, make it better, make it successful. Like, it's just, I'm, I'm like, I'm part of family, their family right now. And I'm like, so proud.
00:05:31
Speaker
Like, I'm just proud. I know. Like a proud, like a proud mother. Like, great job. Yeah. Doing great, sweeties. Exactly. Like, that's so, i love, I love to hear that. So instantly, you know, we, when we cork, we take all this stuff into consideration. So instantly is gaining bonus points with this Intel.
00:05:48
Speaker
um But on the nose, this wine is a very ample and complex Oh, boy. Here we go, guys. Get ready. Prep yourself the notes, okay? With notes of dark cherry, plum, cocoa, tobacco, violets, and spices.
00:06:03
Speaker
I'm just going to pause there because that was a lot of different flavors and things happening. Okay. That tastes rich in smooth tannins with notes of ripe dark cherries, plum skins, bitter orange, and spices.
00:06:19
Speaker
Again, a lot's happening here. oh last time we read that a lot was happening, a lot truly was happening. So I'm little nervy, little nervy with that description, but, and she's dark.
00:06:33
Speaker
She is dark. She is dark. You can't see her cause my glitter is covering it. but Stop it. Stop. You can kind of see her, but look, it always looks much lighter on my light. I don't know why it's, it's my, it's my studio lighting, if you will.
00:06:47
Speaker
um But this is a DOCG wine. which I haven't, what's a DOCG? I'm not sure. I'm going to let Annie explain that one after I finish reading this, but DOCG designation guarantees. oh Oh, here we go. I'm going to read it. I'm going read it to you all.
00:07:01
Speaker
I was the head of the game. Here you go, everybody. DOCG designation guarantees a wine is produced in a specific region, according to strict rules for great varieties, cultivation, and winemaking, and has passed an official government tasting and analysis for both quality and authenticity.
00:07:18
Speaker
That was a lot of big words. I'm very proud of myself for that. I am also very proud of you. So this means this, I mean, one's like pretty big deal. Maybe not a pretty big deal, but to me it's a pretty big deal.
00:07:31
Speaker
Right? Yeah. I mean, I, I feel like that sounds like a pretty high standards to have to uphold to get that kind of recognition. Yes. Yeah. And it is priced but between really fairly between 23 $28.
00:07:48
Speaker
And it also received 91 points. James Suckling is an American um wine I don't want to say taster, but an American who rates wines. And um he awards wines based on how he, you know, feels about them, how they, whatever, how he likes them.
00:08:06
Speaker
And 91 is really, really good on his scale of ratings. Yeah. I mean, I'm assuming it's out of 100, you guys. It is out of 100. I'm not going to say I'm excited because we've been burned in the past, but I am i am looking forward too trying this. um but I'm to give it a smell first because we're looking for smells of dark cherry, plum, cocoa, tobacco, violets, and spices, and that's a lot to give.
00:08:32
Speaker
It smells really good. It actually smells really good. I'm not going lie. I'm definitely not feeling tobacco and spices. I'm feeling more of like plum and cherry.
00:08:42
Speaker
Yeah. You agree? Maybe some spices, but are you ready? I'm so ready. Yes. Let's kick it.

Dancing with the Stars: Season Highlights

00:08:50
Speaker
I'm a little nervous. Okay. All right. oh Gossip girl.
00:08:53
Speaker
XOXO. Gossip girls. Gossip also a girl Cheers.
00:09:03
Speaker
I'm going to another sip because it hit that sip hit kind of harsh. It is very dry. Very, very dry. Literally very dry. That's why. Like I just got dry mouth from it.
00:09:14
Speaker
I drank it and I immediately got dry mouth. I was like, wait, did I? Was there something? Was there something in that?
00:09:21
Speaker
Well, it literally dries out your mouth. It does. Oh, okay. I mean, taste-wise is not horrendous, I will say. oh No, no. I think that's the tannins, right? That are coming in so strongly there?
00:09:36
Speaker
probably I'm assuming so. Yeah, probably. The taste is really nice. Yes. it's I mean, it's a very dry wine. Very dry. The taste is very nice though. wonderful dries wine What was that?
00:09:48
Speaker
I wonder if all Barolos are this dry. They very well could be. So I don't want to, I don't want to rate in a bad, you know, not that I'm saying I'm going to write in a bad manner, but ah I, I, I'd love to see, and maybe it's that grape varietal too, because it's hundred percent Nebbiolo grapes.
00:10:05
Speaker
Yeah, that's what I was going my next like assumption is maybe it's the grape. um But taste wise is not bad. And I think it's probably one of those things that by the time the more we drink it, we won't even notice how dry it's hitting us.
00:10:20
Speaker
Listen, I have a feeling towards the end of this episode, we're going to be.
00:10:26
Speaker
a little grapes in me. We're just going to be vibing. We're going to be vibing. Okay. Vibing, vibing with these little grapey's. I'm to be vibing with these Nebula grapes, just like I'm going to be vibing, sipping probably another glass, watching my Dancing with the Stars.
00:10:42
Speaker
Oh, my God. Okay. I have never been like an avid. Sure, in the beginning, I watched it, and I would vote and things like that. And then the couple seasons, you know, these past couple seasons, maybe here and there, frigging locked and loaded I'm loving it. So me and Jamina, we, you guys know we record at night. So both were like, all right, it's dancing with dancing with the stars night. We gotta, we gotta to get it out.
00:11:09
Speaker
It's Tuesday night, you guys. And you are listening this on Tuesday as well. So just mark your calendars. It's at 8 PM Eastern standard time on ABC. Okay. Um, I was locked in. I've never been a Dancing with the Stars kind gal. I'm like you, I would see like clips that E! News would post or like if a celebrity I knew would post.
00:11:28
Speaker
But I became a fan ah last year when my Olympics goddess and king went on there, which is Ilona Mar and Steven, can't say his last name, ne at oscar whatever.
00:11:41
Speaker
Um, Paul, but now what's his name? The pommel horse. He was the gymnast pommel horse that everyone like fell in love with. And then she is a rugby player. rugby player. And i was obsessed with them. So I literally only watched for them, only voted for them, did not vote for anyone else.
00:11:58
Speaker
So I like became a hardcore like fan. And then this season you've got Dancing with the Stars. You've got Robert Irwin. You've got Alex Earl. I mean, you guys, this season is stacked.
00:12:09
Speaker
Okay. It is slacked. Like I love you. Is it the Mormon wives that you meant to say? Oh yeah. What did say? Secret lives of what? Housewives? No, no. You just said you've got dancing with the stars.
00:12:25
Speaker
I knew exactly what you meant. only meant to say Whitney Levitt and Jennifer Affleck. I'm not being Jennifer Affleck, but you guys know who we're talking about. If you know, you know.
00:12:35
Speaker
um who else am I voting for right now? um I'm voting for a lot of people this season, you guys. I do love Topanga. Now, granted, when we're recording this, we're recording this a little bit ahead of time. so if this episode drops and one of these people is gone, that would be really unfortunate. I don't think they would be. But I feel like the Dancing with the Stars, i don't want to know if you call it casting.
00:13:01
Speaker
feel like they're kind of onto something. Yeah. And they know that they're onto something. i would love to see what their views have been like the past... two to three years because they're starting to pull in people who the younger generation is wanting to see. Now I could be very wrong with that. Somebody could be like, Oh my God, six years ago they had so-and-so, but.
00:13:24
Speaker
You're right. Um, season, like the premiere episode last week, they beat the amount of votes from season one of last season by like i don't know they said it online because voting closes right when the last dance ends and they were like shocked it was like quadruple the amount or something crazy don't quote me look it up but it was like an insane amount also honorable mention to the other person that i'm voting for i don't know how i forgot this beautiful beautiful piece of man dylan afron okay
00:13:56
Speaker
Traitors. If you don't watch Traitors, you guys, I need you guys. There's only two seasons out on Peacock. I need you all to go watch it, especially if you're a Bravo girly like me. So many Bravo people.
00:14:06
Speaker
so but There's a Survivor, Big Brother, like all the reality stars. You guys, Dylan Efron, spoiler alert. He is one of the winners of last season, and it is another show that got me hooked.
00:14:19
Speaker
Okay? Hooked. um But I'm also voting for Scott Hoying because I really love Pentatonix. So, you guys, i have a lot of votes being sent. Yes. Yeah.
00:14:29
Speaker
I have a lot of votes being sent. A lot of votes. um I was trying to look at the rest of the cast. I don't really know the and NBA a player. Topanga, yeah, she's great. Oh my gosh, Meredith Blake. How could I not mention her? I was just about to say the mom or the you know the almost stepmom from Parent Trap with Lindsay Lohan. Yes, i and I love her. I love her.
00:14:50
Speaker
If you guys see my text messages right now, how many? Because you can vote 10 times per person via text and then 10 times per person online. stacked. My text is stacked. I vote 10 times online and I vote 10 times.
00:15:05
Speaker
Now I will say there are some people, I can't vote for everybody every time, right? So there are some people, if you're not wowing me with your outfit and your dance vibes and not feeling it, You're only going to get either texting votes or website votes. You're not getting both. a can't get Yeah, you can't get both. You can only get one form of communication votes. yeah so Exactly. i I'm right there with you, though. But i need to I need to actively vote more and not just use it for my own consumption. I also need to return that favor ah you entertained me. Now I'm going to vote for you.
00:15:37
Speaker
yeah So i need i need to um I need to also i need also be doing that. You guys, I was so hardcore last season for Alona and Steven that I, on the final episode, and you'll remember this, on the final, like, couple episodes, I think, I was literally texting all my group chats being like, I need you guys to text like this name.
00:15:55
Speaker
I can confirm. She's actually not kidding. I'm literally not kidding. That's how passionate I was about these Olympic, like, finalists to like make it to the end because I was just so obsessed with them.
00:16:06
Speaker
I'm still just as obsessed with them. still follow with them both and their journeys, like just so happy for Poma horse and Alona. Like they're just doing great things, but yeah, this season I'm going to have to narrow down my favorites. You guys, i I really am. But for the first episode I did, I did vote for pretty much everybody.
00:16:24
Speaker
You get a vote. You get a vote. You get a vote. I was Oprah votes. I was feeling generous, all the things, but Not to keep talking about myself, but I do have a story I have to share after our mishap of pronunciations in the beginning.
00:16:41
Speaker
Oh, no. Oh, who am i So, you guys, my childhood trauma, my anxiety, everywhere this stemmed from, it came to life recently, and I just need to, like, lay on the table for everybody to hear.
00:16:57
Speaker
yes My... At our school, and i I'm sure at lots of school, every parent half has to provide a certain amount of volunteer hours, right? I was like, you know what? Amazon wishlist has been not updated lately. That's usually how I provide my volunteer hours. It's the easy way, I know, but you know what? some The teachers enjoy the presents, okay?

School Library Volunteering: Jemina's Story

00:17:18
Speaker
Anyways, I volunteered to go to the library, okay? I did it. I was like, oh my gosh, the description was Fairly easy. You get volunteer hours. It was just like, hey, help us put books away, help the kids guide, find the books, things like that. I'm thinking I can do this.
00:17:34
Speaker
media i mean, media center helper. Come on. Yes. Media center helper, right? Like that was the best TA job you could have. No, you guys. So I, my role, and this is literally my worst nightmare. My role was I had to read books to children.
00:17:53
Speaker
And it was fine for her VPK and kindergarten and first grade because they all had like an easy book with like five words inside. Then the fourth and third graders came in, you guys. I had to read chapter books.
00:18:06
Speaker
had to read a full chapter. panic in my eyes and my body when the librarian handed me this chapter book and I had to literally read an entire chapter without messing up words, without sounding dumb because I knew I was going to get bullied. I was going to get bullied by third and fourth graders and I just could not take that onto my day.
00:18:28
Speaker
so I immediately texted Annie. I was like you're not going to believe what just happened to me. Like my biggest nightmare, like, you know how bad I am at pronouncing on Wine Mama. And like when I have to read a paragraph and I panic and I still mess up words,
00:18:39
Speaker
I had to do that with children today. Like I had to read a chapter book and like, and it's not just like I'm reading and no one's paying attention. Like literally they're all sitting down listening to see this is one of the books they want to check out.
00:18:51
Speaker
Oh yeah. You are the entertainment. Like you, yeah they are zoned like eyes on the prize and you're the prize, like eyes on the prize. Me and kids are mean, you guys, I'm sorry to say it, but like kids can be very mean. And I was very, very scared.
00:19:04
Speaker
Thankfully I just read very slowly. And then the rabbit jumped away. I sounded out my words quickly in my brain before saying them out loud.
00:19:16
Speaker
And I really think I did it my best. If I had to rate my rating skills, um I would give it a ah a B+. I think I did a B+. Okay, B is great. I think it was B+. You talk about kids being mean, and yes, they can be mean.
00:19:29
Speaker
But we just said the beginning of the episode, like we are so immature. like I think I shared this story um on one of the first few seasons that we had that I was reading to Kennedy's class and one of the kids sitting on the rug, he tooted.
00:19:43
Speaker
Stop. No, you did not share the story. I would 1000% remember someone tooting a rug. and It was loud. And I was in the middle of reading. and I had to not laugh when the kids started giggling. I'm like, how do i not laugh? This is hilarious that this little boy just like made this loud noise. And it's just like,
00:20:04
Speaker
like What did you do, though? Did you have to take like a deep breath? like I don't think I would have been able to handle that. I had to pause for a second. And then like if i had not if I had tried to keep reading, I would have lost it. had to pause and like take a deep, like take not a deep, like obvious breath, but just kind of like... Re-center.
00:20:20
Speaker
Yeah, recenter. Like you are an adult. Tooting is not funny. It is, but like it's not funny. I'm literally just laughing at the thought of picturing this. So yeah, no, I honestly that deserves a Nobel Peace Prize that you could have done that because a Grammy, an Oscar, like give this girl, what's it called?
00:20:39
Speaker
G dot? No, not a G dot. What's it called when you gain one of everything? Oh my gosh. Yeah. And he got Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony. Yeah, please. take you got EGOT for putting, or for keeping it together during that moment, 1000% justified because I'm laughing at just you telling the story. I do not remember you telling the story. So this is gold to me. I could have sworn I did. So sorry. I kept that from you guys for so long. That was like, yeah. But oh my God. Speaking of my children experiences, you guys, we jumped headfirst into lacrosse for Kennedy.
00:21:14
Speaker
So we signed Charlie up for soccer. Kennedy did not want to be signed up for soccer. Charlie and soccer is a whole nother. We're going to save that because I'm going to table soccer talk. We're going to save our soccer talk because Jamina and I could both talk for yeah and i an entire episode on how our girls do, our little ones do soccer. But Kenny did not want to do soccer. I went to grab the pamphlet at like open house when we were first starting school. And she was like, I don't want to do that. Like in front of the woman. I was like, I'm so sorry.
00:21:42
Speaker
Oh, yeah. I was literally grabbing the pamphlet and the lady was explaining to me like the days they do it And was like, oh, this is great. And Kenny was like, I don't want to do soccer. I was like, I'm so sorry. I'm so embarrassed. I'm good. Thank you so very much. I'm good.
00:21:53
Speaker
So we went to get all of Charlie's soccer swag. You know, we had to deck her out. I know you do the same thing. yeah went to get all her swag and we passed the lacrosse section at our Dick's Sporting Goods. And Kenny was like, oh, what's this?
00:22:05
Speaker
Well, Greg loves lacrosse. His dad played like they used to play just like for fun in the yard. Like, so Greg enjoys lacrosse. So he showed her some of this stuff and she was very interested. Ends up, we Google it.
00:22:17
Speaker
find a place that was doing a trial. We bring her to the trial. We tell a couple of friends, they bring their to their daughters too. And we all end up loving it. The kids loved it. We joined this lacrosse league and now we're lax.
00:22:30
Speaker
We're a lax family. We're lax girlies. Not the lax girlies. Yes. We are lax girlies. I'm not talking about that lax airport. We are on the field, lax girls. I love this for her. And I love that she's trying ah different sport like that like that's if if she's anything like beckett she's gonna want to try every sport and which honestly i think is a good thing like at one part of my mind i'm like is it a good thing that he's trying like a new sport every season but no like i'd rather him find out what he likes versus me invest years on a sport that he doesn't even like to play like absolutely what' your expensive you guys sports are not cheap the merch
00:23:07
Speaker
like So expensive. So expensive. Everything is. So I agree. I'm so glad that she's trying this. It's something that I really took of the fastest growing youth sports in the country because it really is not very popular down here in the South. I know it's very competitive and like pretty intense up North. So It's just exciting getting to watch

Lacrosse & Unexpected Enthusiasm

00:23:26
Speaker
her play. um When we first signed her up, I wasn't going to be the negative Nelly. I was like, this is great. She was so excited.
00:23:33
Speaker
and I told Greg, I'm like, we're signing her up for lacrosse, which is a heavy running sport. Just so you know, when I pick her up from school and I ask her like, you know, i asked her different questions about her day. When I asked her what the hardest thing was today,
00:23:46
Speaker
On PE days, she tells me the five minutes that she had to run in PE, that was the hardest part of her day. But yet we're throwing at her into lacrosse. i said Well, that's probably why she didn't want to do soccer. She's like, I know what this sport is. Yeah, I know what happens. But she loves it. I'm like, I think because she's like so active and like has the stick and is really not focused on the running portion.
00:24:07
Speaker
She has an accessory. She's a girl. Yes. She's a girly. She's an accessories girl. She's an accessory kind of girl. I love that for her. I just, and I, love like I said, I love that she's trying a new new sport. That's so exciting. That's just, I love it.
00:24:21
Speaker
ah ben And like I told you, Ben would be so proud. Ben played lacrosse. So he's very much into, I mean, he doesn't keep up with it, but he's still, if Kenny makes it big, Ben still has his lacrosse stick from high school. So, know. Oh, that's so fun. We'll have to, next time we come, we'll bring, we'll bring her stick and ball and everything. And can, they can play.
00:24:39
Speaker
In the backyard while we ah we drink our wine. Right. I love that idea. 1,000 cent. Put it in the books immediately. Amazing. Amazing. Well, another pile girly with big things happening. Obviously, you and I are holding on Charlie and Avery conversation until other time because, again, the soccer conversation would be the entire episode.
00:24:57
Speaker
Yeah. um But, Aubrey, by the time this episode airs, these things will have, think, passed. I don't know. Because we are doing I'm sorry. They're in the process of passing.
00:25:08
Speaker
Yes, but right now these things are very current and coming up. So one is homecoming. Good Lord, holy hell almighty, homecoming. It is not for the week.
00:25:21
Speaker
The planning and the process of making sure that she has, you know, the dress that she wants and the right shoes and any type of jewelry and the friends that she's going with and who's Who's driving what? Where are we doing pictures? Like it is a freaking process, you guys. And I am sorry to my mother if I ever stressed you out.
00:25:44
Speaker
Also, like the homecoming dresses now, like I try to keep Aubrey's as, you know, age appropriate as possible, which is very hard. But man, back when we were in high school, listen girl, I had like tiered ruffle skirt.
00:26:02
Speaker
yeah You don't want to go back and see my homecoming dresses. Vastly, vastly different. Yeah. Yeah. It's so true. that it's It's just, I think dress codes in general right now in school are just Gen Z has a whole, I don't think they have one. Let's just put it that way. um They don't. They don't have a dress code. and it's it's crazy to me because one, you know, where we live in such a world where how do I put this? Where women are very powerful and not wanting to be characterized in a certain way, but yet we're just letting this happen. And I'm not saying Aubrey, but I've, I'm saying like in general, because I've, I've driven past our old high school before and I've seen like what kids are wearing in our old high school and our old middle school.
00:26:52
Speaker
And I'm just like, what? Like, it's just, you know, it's kind of sad because this is where creepers come from and that's what they're hunting. And like, it freaks me out that,
00:27:05
Speaker
One, some parents let people wear that. Again, you do you. and but If you're okay with it and you're comfortable with that, great. My anxiety can't take it though. Like my anxiety of knowing of the creepers of the world.
00:27:16
Speaker
Like I just, I feel like there needs to be some boundaries at school. Like make make spaghetti straps an inch again. You know, that's all I'm asking for. Yeah. Yeah. i mean, and no hate anyone who lets their child express themselves and however they're dressing like good on you. But There's parts of skin and, like, areas that don't need to be shown as a 13, 14, 15.
00:27:38
Speaker
Like, there you know, it just is not needed. So, I absolutely agree with you, Gara, because when I used to drop her off at school and see some girls in their car, like, oh, my she'd like, mom, please stop.
00:27:49
Speaker
And I'm like, oh, my God. a So, yeah. but that make us Does that make us, like, the boomers? Because we're just like, cover up. One million percent. One million percent we sound like our parents.
00:28:02
Speaker
Yeah. absolutely agree. Yes. I am the old, I'm the old fart now So, or old toot as I was talking about earlier about the tooting.
00:28:13
Speaker
But another thing with Aubrey, her birthday is coming up and i am oh just losing my mind trying to plan this. So like I was hoping that maybe she would do something a little different than last year, like wouldn't want to have this big thing. and that like what she did last year was wonderful in the backyard movie night, like this whole spread. It was so wonderful. what It was so cute.
00:28:37
Speaker
She had the best time. you and I like kind of were crazy people beforehand, like setting everything up and things like that. um But she wants to do the same thing. And the notice that I got for doing this same thing is not ideal for planning party.
00:28:53
Speaker
So I am currently in like losing my mind state. Like recovery mode almost. Not as a recovery mission. Like a recovery like you don't have enough time, but you have to get it done.
00:29:06
Speaker
Well, not recovery because recovery would be post the party. I'm recovering. I'm not recovering yet. I know. But it's like, what is it called when it's like you're pressed for time? It's like a rescue...
00:29:20
Speaker
Rescue and recover, what there's a difference in both of race to the finish? A race to the deadline? No, like when something happens, again, here I go with my analogies that make no sense. But, you know, when something she's already laughing at me. can't wait. No, I can't wait.
00:29:35
Speaker
You know, like when something happens, it's either a rescue mission because you're looking to rescue people or it's a recovery mission because there's nothing to rescue. oh Okay, well, I don't Well, that's what I mean. Like you're in recovery mode because like you don't have enough time anymore. Like at this point you, there's nothing like you would have been in a rescue mission had it like, it made sense in my mind. I'm just going to stop talking.
00:30:00
Speaker
No, I'm following. I'm following. So, well, you got all my crazy texts of like, this is the theme. Like yeah i you know, when like you have so many thoughts going in your mind, you can't even pinpoint on one like train of thought to follow.
00:30:14
Speaker
That's how I was the past two days. I've just been like I can't even like grasp like which train of thought to go down up Like so I've been everywhere. I've been everywhere, you guys.
00:30:25
Speaker
So happening. So much happening. But love to party plan. So like as soon I'm like give me a theme and I can start just a vision board. Like let's go. Like i can I can do it. So that's why I love doing stuff like this. But then when the vision board gets a little messy, you know, and you start incorporating different things that don't add up together.
00:30:45
Speaker
makes a little, it makes my job very difficult. I'm not gonna lie. Like it makes it very difficult. Like I can probably still execute it, but like not the vibe, you know? Um, but I can execute it for you. ah Yeah. We'll, we'll execute.
00:30:58
Speaker
And I'm sure I will talk about this on a future episode, how it ended up being and all of that. So we will need an update on this. I got to put my, I got to put my, we have our smart girl glasses on as you mean to mention at the B the beginning of the episode, we have our glasses on. We're feeling a little rough and ragged. I got micro needling done the other day I do it on my face because am working on like some acne scarring and some lines under my eyes.
00:31:27
Speaker
my face is still like pretty red. So I thought that this may can't tell though help. You can't tell. Okay. No, I can't personally. I can't tell. and That makes me feel really good. i don't know if it's like the ring line. Does it burn It, no, it doesn't burn. It hurts getting it done. Cause it's, but I mean, you know what it is. It's just like yeah needle, like going into your skin and what it's done, what it does is it's like part of, at least for like the acne scarring, it's like breaking up that scar tissue so that it heals a little bit more, smoother because the scarring is almost like a hardened, like a harder,
00:32:04
Speaker
area where like scar tissue is like patching itself up. So it's like trying to like break it up so that it smooths out. If that makes sense. It's really hard for me to explain. yeah um but it makes sense that you may just not understand as I'm explaining it. And our esthetician friends are probably like,
00:32:21
Speaker
Sorry. Let me get on here. Let me get on the mic right now. Yes. Yes. But I have noticed a different difference. I, my skin looks so clear, so smooth afterwards. So I'm a very big fan of microneedling, especially with like just trying to pinpoint some of my issues that I'm a little self-conscious of, you know? Yeah.
00:32:42
Speaker
And they're not, and they're probably not even issues, but because you are self-conscious of them, why not do something that's going to make you feel better? You know, like if you have the means for it, like I, we talk about this when we talk about Botox all the time, like do it. Like if that's going to make you feel better, if that's going to give you your ego confidence boost that you need to continue on living your day, instead of just like constantly judging yourself for it, do it.
00:33:06
Speaker
1 million percent. We do. We talk about that all the time, like little self-care moment and that self-care can look different for everyone. This is my, one of my self-care things that i you know, try to hold onto. And I, I, I love how it makes my, um, skin texture feel. So, um, but I know you just did something recently, like a new, don't want to say procedure, but kind of is not a procedure. What's it called? It It is, I did, I tried a full body red light therapy. So red light therapy is like so in right now, you know, everybody's wearing the mask. They're wearing like the mask on the face at nighttime that makes them look like Iron Man. They have like the neck one now.
00:33:47
Speaker
They have one just for eyes now. Like they just have so many different kinds. And I um had a gift card and it's actually, you guys, it's a massage envy. Like I had a gift card, of massage envy, and I was looking at options of what to do there.
00:34:02
Speaker
I'm going to go ahead and let you guys know. I've had is going to come as a shock. I've had one massage ever in my life. It was probably like two years ago. i think Ben got it for me for Mother's Day and I went.
00:34:15
Speaker
I was so uncomfortable the entire time. Maybe because it was a male. I don't know. I was so uncomfortable. i was not relaxed. I was tense. My favorite part of the massage was at the end when I got to sit in the hydrotherapy bed.
00:34:26
Speaker
Like that was my favorite part because i I was just too tense. like i the entire time I was like, this guy could murder me at any point. My head is face down. like I can't hear. i can't He's not talking. I'm not talking. I'm trying to focus. I'm trying to relax. How the hell do people sleep in this? like My mind was a million miles an hour. okay That's called anxiety.
00:34:45
Speaker
That's called unmedicated anxiety. ok this entire time The entire time this man touched me, I thought he had a knife in his hand. Okay. Like I thought he could stab me at any minute for no freaking reason. No one would ever know.
00:34:55
Speaker
No one would ever know. There's not a camera in the room. It's not allowed. Anyways, not a candidate for massage. Okay. So that leads me to what other options does massage envy have? And I saw they had a red light therapy bed and I was like, huh, this is interesting.
00:35:10
Speaker
So I did the red light therapy bed and you guys, I loved it. Loved it. Did it give me PTSD because I felt like I was laying on a tanning bed again? Yes, it did. Tanning bed vibes. Yes. Instead of the purple light, it's red light.
00:35:25
Speaker
Tanning vibes. However, it was giving me my youth. It was helping my muscles. I had just actually... I think I had like, not to brag, but you know, i so I had gone to like the gym like five days in row. So I was super sore. So it like helped with my muscle soreness. It helped with my knee pain. I was having a lot of knee pain um on my right knee. I don't know. I just think I need to stretch better to be honest after the gym. But long story short, I loved it.
00:35:52
Speaker
And i it's honestly very, it's fairly inexpensive if you wanted to get, I think they were like offering For like up one month, you could do one month, $150 and you could go unlimited times. You could go twice a day if you wanted.
00:36:05
Speaker
You could go every day if you wanted. it was like a really, yeah, it was a really good deal. And like for my one session, I think my gift card was for like 60 bucks. So $150 to go for a month, six weeks, I think it was actually.
00:36:20
Speaker
Anyways, not an ad for MassageMV, but will say did help my knee pain. um And I just felt like youthful leaving there. You know, I just felt like feeling youthful. Yes, she has a vision. Yeah.
00:36:32
Speaker
A vision of red light therapy. um And I kind of like for Christmas, I probably will ask for that month, six week month subscription because why not? It's right down the street. It literally is. I think you can do either 30 minutes or 60 minutes. It doesn't, I think they have two different options and you just lay there, baby. You just lay there, letting your muscles relax and absorb, letting like your collagen be re like because they have like a face one that goes over your face. Yeah. Um, I want to get one of the face ones for Christmas and ask for those for Christmas, but I'm really big on like a lot of the things I asked for for Christmas are all like skin.
00:37:09
Speaker
i guess maybe it's cause we're in our thirties, right? Like um we're hitting mid thirties. We're, we're getting, we're getting up there. Not really, but you know, I think that's why, because I am really trying to focus on keeping my skin looking healthy. So I want to ask for one of those like masks for, Christmas, but I think it's a great idea for you to ask for like a gift card or something too, because things like that, like massages, the red light therapy, facials are a game changer. And I, yeah, a little, a little self care moment, self care treat.
00:37:44
Speaker
And I'm also the type that I don't spoil myself and investing and stuff like that for myself. So when I get it as a gift card or it's a gift to me, i will actually use it even if it is 10, 15 years later and they still accept the gift card. and But you know, like I just don't, like I spend my money mostly on my kids, which is horrible. I know, i know. i I mean, it's not horrible. It's a great thing, but like, I know I should also be like spending things on myself. It's like, the I'm the classic gift that's like,
00:38:16
Speaker
my kids wearing brand new clothes and I'm wearing my sports bra from high school. Like that's me, me. Hi, hello. um Unless I'm going on a trip. And that's right. Unless going on a trip. No, and that's okay too. But you have to also give back to yourself. In so many words, you have to give back to yourself. So um put it on the list, prioritize yourself. No, I don't really do like go out and get myself massages and facials.
00:38:38
Speaker
Now, again, we're looking at like microneedling, Botox, things like that. Yes, I do. But massages and facials, like I'm pretty much like And it's kind of like ah get I'm gifted that. And I kind of put my money towards yeah putting things face. Yeah. I'd rather just give them Putting things in my face. Fill me up with the fake toxins that make me beautiful and young. Stop.
00:39:02
Speaker
No, but seriously, though. like i Yeah, I'm the same way. like I feel like half of my Christmas list is always skincare stuff. So I'm just like stacked on skincare stuff. And I don't open it until I'm ready to use it because- I just, I want to, I want to finish the products that I'm currently using to be sure before I move on to like a new thing, because my new thing, actually, I just finished, finally finished my Laneige hydrating toner, and I'm going to be switching over now to something that I got.
00:39:34
Speaker
for my birthday. can't remember when I got it. It was a gift from Ben, but essentially it's the road skincare line. And you guys, I am stoked. I cannot wait. I have all three and I cannot wait to try the entire routine because I want Haley Bieber skin. So, I mean, come on, her skin is flawless. You'll have to tell me, you'll have to tell me how you like it because Aubrey's asking for some of that stuff too.
00:39:57
Speaker
So, but I've heard, I've heard great things. You'll have to keep us updated on where that skin journey. i will let you know. i would let you know. Um, I'm super stoked to try it though. Super stoked.
00:40:08
Speaker
Um, I did want to mention one more thing because I'm sure we're probably going wrap it up soon. Cause I know we're both just thinking about dancing with the stars on the back of our minds. Um, but you guys, i we moved, we're moving in the

Home Office Makeover: The Murphy Bed Dilemma

00:40:23
Speaker
process. I know it's been since summer, but we're still in the process of moving Avery to her new room and like doing that.
00:40:28
Speaker
But the room that we are going to be left with what used to be our guest room, But now me and Ben working from home, we also need like an office. Y'all, we got a quote because we want to do a Murphy bed. Like we want like an install on our back, like just like the back wall, like a Murphy bed, make it look like it's an office, like when it's closed and like we'll have like a removal. I have a vision. Okay. I'm gonna give you one guess how much we were quoted.
00:40:59
Speaker
I don't even want to know. i don't even want to know.
00:41:04
Speaker
$14,000. I almost said $10,000. And was like, no, I don't want to. You hate when people are like, oh, yes. people overshoot it. ah thought I was going to overshoot it at $10,000. $14,000. Now, mind you, this was going to be a custom build like from the bottom to the top. like But it's not a it was not that extensive. like It's just like two cabinets shelving.
00:41:26
Speaker
Murphy bed. Like it was not that serious. $14,000. No, no, no. There's a place in Sarasota that sells these custom built-ins and they offer free delivery and free installment. You're going catch me on Ben driving to Sarasota to check out their inventory because ain't going to catch me spending $14,000 on a wall. No. Unless I'm literally dying in this home. This home is my forever home.
00:41:50
Speaker
Yeah, I'm going be like, are you okay? Home renovation projects are so expensive. Like we used to our back. I mean, I've mentioned it before on the pod, like on this season, we redid our backyard. to tell you how much it was, but like, it's not cheap.
00:42:01
Speaker
um I mean, I love it. We're back. We're in our backyard more than we've ever been, but doing anything in your home, unless you're like grabbing a gallon of paint is so expensive. It's so expensive.
00:42:12
Speaker
So expensive. And especially after you just get a new car. You guys, I finally got a new car. I don't know if mentioned it on here, but I've had my 2015 Nissan Rogue, sorry, off Nissan Rogue since...
00:42:23
Speaker
paid off nisanroe send 2014, November of 2014. So I had it for 11 years. Ben said I'm a hazard to the road and a danger to myself and my children. So I had to get a new car, allegedly.
00:42:36
Speaker
i I think she was driving well from A to b Just want to point that out. steele Steel was a good girl. um So yeah, I'm not going to be paying $14,000 for a wall when I now have a car payment again. Nope. It's not happening. You can figure out another another path for that. And you guys, I know that you will. you're You will figure something else out.
00:42:56
Speaker
Yeah. No, there's going to be, they there will be another path and that path is going to be driving to Sarasota and finding a cheaper option. Will you still have room for me to stay and come over? 1000%. It's going to be a queen. Whatever we put in there has to be a queen bed. and Like we love having visitors and that's why we have to make that space work into a guest office type situation so and that's why we came up with the murphy bed because i actually i the way i saw it let me see if i can find her name quickly the way i saw it was it's an nfl player's wife um ali something yes no yes allison kutch kutch kutch i don't know this is them like she has the kids her husband just retired from the nfl i guess he's the famous boy
00:43:48
Speaker
Don't know what he, what sport, not sport, but what um team he was on. But she posted a real a renovation she did in her home. And it's literally my vision. yeah.
00:44:03
Speaker
yeah I mean, I'm happy to share it. i i'll I'll retweet her on Wine Mama so you guys can see how well of a job she did. um But it's basically that. It's literally I'm sure hers was way more than $14,000 because she has to move for it. At least the idea is there. You have the the kind of idea of where you want to go with it.
00:44:22
Speaker
Right. Exactly. Yes, you'll get there. You'll get there. Again, not to invite myself over, but you know, we love coming to say, and we love drinking, we love drinking a little bit of wine while we're there.
00:44:33
Speaker
Every time. Specifically, possibly this Barolo. Yeah. Shall I bring another bottle of this when I come? Honestly, it does taste good. I'm not going lie.
00:44:44
Speaker
I think the guys would like this. I think Greg would like this. It's shocking at the dryness of it. and It is like like dry, but it does taste good. like the flavor behind it is really good. I'm not hating it.
00:45:02
Speaker
Points may be deducted for the intense dryness, but that's just my preference. like And I like dry wines. This is just probably one of the driest that I've ever tried, to be honest.
00:45:14
Speaker
I agree. it' It is probably... It is one of the driest wines I've ever tried. I think I'm ready with my cork. I think. Yeah, I think I'm ready. Okay. Go while I have one more sip because I just want solidify.
00:45:31
Speaker
Well, no, want to change your corking. You take a sip and then I'll do my sip. Yeah, don't don't so't go yet. I'll write mine down on a sticky note.
00:45:43
Speaker
the flavor is just there for me. You know, i know flavor wise, you guys, I'm opening up my notes. so I can put my corking just to see me and Annie match per usual. Yeah.
00:45:54
Speaker
I think I'm, you got it. Yeah. Okay. I am rating this 7.3. Stop.
00:46:03
Speaker
Stop. Let me see. Hold on. You're frozen. What are you at? 7.4. 7.4. Boom. So we're right, right on the money, right on the money there. Around the money. Which means we would definitely get this again. would love to explore explore more Barolos.
00:46:19
Speaker
Yeah. This kind of opens up the vibe of Barolos because I feel like now, and also it'll give us a good comparison to know if it really is the Nebbiolo grapes that's giving it that super dry vibe.
00:46:32
Speaker
Mm-hmm. vibe Um, but I would definitely try another one. Yes. Or what other grapes Barolo is made with, or if it's always the Nebio, I am interested to see what grapes it's typically made with. So we're going to have to look more into this and maybe, maybe do another Barolo soon, you guys.
00:46:50
Speaker
Yeah. I'm in, I'm in for it. Yeah. I'm in for it. Yeah. Well, thanks so much everyone for, if you stuck with us on this, just ramble and gamble is what we're going call it because now I think that's like, we're going to,
00:47:01
Speaker
We were rambling and gambling on where we were going to go with this. Right there. Ramble and gamble. Yeah. There's the title. So i hope you guys stuck with us and enjoyed this type of
