Introduction and New Season Kickoff

00:00:00
Speaker
Welcome to Wine Mama, a podcast where two bestie moms whine while they whine. I'm Annie. And I'm Jemina. Let's whine. And happy Lucky 7 on Season 7, everybody. Including any new person that is happening to join in on Lucky Number 7.
00:00:20
Speaker
i mean, welcome. That's a big deal. If you found us on this specific episode, give yourself a pat on the back. That is, I mean, it sounds pretty lucky to me. And also, I was smiling when we were doing the intro because...
00:00:34
Speaker
i Remember that one time when I was doing the intro and I like, I got through like two sent two words and I was like, I didn't like how that sounded. And I restarted. And it's like, it does it sounds like you. Like, what do you mean you didn't like how that sounded? It was like a certain tone of voice. And for some reason that that moment came back to me as I was just doing the intro. And it just made me almost start laughing over it. But yeah, it's good.
00:01:02
Speaker
Anyways, if you know, you know, because we actually kept it in, I think, in that episode.

Motherhood Chaos and Podcast Philosophy

00:01:06
Speaker
Because we're like, it was just that funny that we kept it. Same as the time that I think I forgot my name and then you also forgot your name and we just never introduced ourselves. So yeah you know what? We go with the flow here. That's the whole vibe. That's that's motherhood and that's why we do what we're doing because we we we need it to maybe like somehow rewire our brain.
00:01:27
Speaker
to normalcy at some of some some standard of normalcy. Yeah. Like hot wire in the brain to, because sometimes we're just in overdrive. I think we all are in overdrive and that's what makes these episodes so fun like this, because it's where we just get to chat and talk about life and things and be silly. And we don't have to really follow a a guide. we don't really like follow a guide. We kind have like talking. A theme. Thank you. Our theme is just being ourselves and talking.
00:02:00
Speaker
Be yourself. Be yourself. Name that movie.

Nostalgia and Light-hearted Escapes

00:02:05
Speaker
If you can name that movie, you're our Yes. Just friends, right? Just friends? Just friends. Just friends. So good. Okay. So if you have not watched that movie, I need everyone to go back and watch that movie. Like that is Joyce. Joyce. Joyce. Chris. Why are you Joyce's? Like hang up. Everyone needs to go watch that movie. Like.
00:02:29
Speaker
Honestly, just they just don't make movies like that anymore. Like, you know, Save the Lost Dance, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Oh my god. and hung Clueless, like, just all of those. Like, they don't make movies like that anymore. It's very sad.
00:02:44
Speaker
I know. That's what you call the good old days. And unfortunately, you know, that's that's why they're called the good old days because they're they're in the past. They're in the past.
00:02:54
Speaker
um so but before So we're having chatty chats tonight. And before we get into the wine of the week, I'm just going to say this, address probably the elephant in the room or the elephant in like the entire country.
00:03:06
Speaker
There's a lot of shit going on right now, you guys. There is a... A lot going on this We try to keep this space very light and happy and fun. And for the next however long Jemina and I talk, that's what this will be. But do know that we...
00:03:23
Speaker
also see and we hear all the things going on in the world, in the country, everywhere. um so if you are feeling the least amount of stress or uncertainty, we are with you. But we will not bring that on to this podcast because it's just, it's heavy. It's too much. It's just it's just too much.
00:03:42
Speaker
It's too much heaviness to continue to discuss and bring on. and that's not what we're about when you

Featured Wine and Paso Robles Story

00:03:49
Speaker
come on here. We want to lighten the load, you know, like kind of like when I watch my reality trash TV, when I watch my reality trash TV is because I don't want to think, I don't want to put effort or time. I want to see what Dorinda is doing on housewives this week and why Kyle and Dorit are hanging out with Erica. Like, I just like, those are the things I want to know.
00:04:15
Speaker
You know, so and that's why. But yes, like Annie said, just because we don't address it doesn't mean we're not aware of it and doesn't mean that we're not conscious of how heavy everything feels right now.
00:04:26
Speaker
Yes, absolutely. um so we're going to just chat and have a little bit of fun for the next, don't know, let's just let's say 30 minutes. OK, but are we ready to wine with our wine of the week?
00:04:38
Speaker
Yes, please, Lord. Please, Lord. Honestly, like, i don't, it's probably not a please, Lord, because once you guys hear about my chatty chats of a weekend, like, I probably shouldn't be drinking a glass of wine.
00:04:50
Speaker
um but i'm always down i'm always game i'm always game so those are leathers let's do it those are always the funnest times but not funnest but like yeah when you have like kind of like a crazy weekend or you're like on like a trip or you're like having like an adult's weekend or whatever and then you come back in and we're like oh hey pour a glass of wine because we got to record it's like are you kidding though i'm like i will like uh sure Right. Let's do it. Let's have a good time.
00:05:16
Speaker
ah Pull my arm. But yeah, with that being said let's wine with the wine of the week. And this week we are having Austin Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon. And I'm super, super excited to have this wine.
00:05:30
Speaker
Not going lie. Are you? i am. Okay. Very excited. Is there a reason behind it or you're just like, you're ready? Again, probably just a continuation of my weekend. I'm just ready to drink whatever at this point. Your body's like, yeah, let's just keep it going. Well, this wine is pretty, like, I would say, like, don't want to say highly rated. has decent ratings, but a lot of reviews is what I mean. Mm-hmm.
00:05:59
Speaker
The websites, like if you go to Total Wine, if you go to ABC, like there's a lot of reviews. And I would say like out of five stars, it's around like four four something, like between four and five stars. So i you know, I don't, and I don't think we've had like a really outstanding red wine this season. Tell me if I'm wrong.
00:06:20
Speaker
We've had one. No, we, we did. We had one. there' one The first one. yeah But then since then we have not had anything very exciting. Yeah. No, I will attest to that.
00:06:32
Speaker
Can confirm. So a a little bit about this wine. The Hope family has been farming in Paso Robles for more than 30 years. When they arrived in the barely discovered region, they planted apples and grapes. Little did they know that the rolling oak studded terrain of Paso Robles would one day become a viticultural terroir of significance and one of the top wine growing regions for quality red wine within the central coast.
00:06:59
Speaker
So okay I think it's interesting that they did. It's almost like they did apples and grapes and was like, all right, we're either going to be making applesauce, apple juice, cider, cider.
00:07:10
Speaker
Or we're going to be making wine. There's no in between. One or the other. it was really like, let's plant both. Let's see what takes. You know? Yeah. Let's see what takes. Yeah. but Yeah. And you can see, obviously, which one which one kind of persevered.
00:07:25
Speaker
And hopefully to our our favor. um But Paso Robles is the home to many dreamers and self-starters. those who have a spirit and the drive to create their own destiny paso robles entices those individuals to be their best create the best from the land and all it that it produces this wine is a tribute to those who believe in paso robles and all of its greatness just like its winemakers um yeah look at that what that was like an inspiring like speech just about to say that's like someone on the podium on like a
00:07:59
Speaker
A motivational speaker. Literally. am I Mel Robbins right now? You are. i'm going to call you Mel. I'm Ellie Mel for the rest of the the rest of the episode. She's here. I channeled her inner energy the more I read that for sure.
00:08:13
Speaker
We do love her We do love Mel. love mel We do love her. love her. So a little bit about this specific cab. The Austin Cabernet Sauvignon remains focused on their goal to produce a wine true to Paso Robles. On the nose, savory aromas intertwine with rich, dark fruit nuances. ooh On the palate, flavors evolve into layers of juicy blackberry, spicy nutmeg, toasted coffee, and fresh vanilla bean. This medium to full-bodied wine is finished with a refined tannins and a distinguishable zing of acid to balance.
00:08:47
Speaker
Woo. Wowza. Wowza. That was a lot. But let's talk about those palate flavors. I mean, I'm not seeing anything there that I don't like. Toasted coffee, fresh vanilla. Am I drinking a latte tonight? Because you're I mean, it kind of sounds like it.
00:09:05
Speaker
Yeah. Now I'm not going to lie to you The zing of acid, that instantly, it's giving me heartburn. It's giving digestion issues. It's giving indigestion heartburn. I'm not loving that description. Specifically calling it a zing. Like we all know like the acidity is there, but like the zing of acid, it's like a little pew, you know, like a, yeah it's coming for you.
00:09:29
Speaker
Yeah. Like, is it coming directly like as I sip it or like later on? Could you specify the zinc? Right. Where does the zinc take place exactly? yeah exactly. At what point of this wine. But it does smell good.

Jemina's West Palm Beach Adventure

00:09:44
Speaker
I am not hating the palate flavors. I, again, it's hit or miss nowadays. Um, whether we get burned with these palate descriptions or they actually come true to life.
00:09:56
Speaker
Other than that, it is pretty reasonably priced. It's anywhere between 20 to $24. which I think is a decent price point for a Cabernet if you want a good Cabernet. Again, cannot confirm or deny if this is that good Cabernet at this time, but I am ready to have a sip so I can assist in the judgment I was about to say, we're about to find out.
00:10:18
Speaker
We're about to find out. Hopefully this wine serves its purpose for this lucky lucky number seven. I think we talked about lucky number seven at the beginning of the season because it was season lucky number seven, but now it's seven and seven. Seven sevens. Yeah, it's like double the luck.
00:10:33
Speaker
This could be the triple seven right here. This could seal the deal to complete the triple seven. you know I'm saying? It could. It could, depending on the taste. Ready? We're about to find out.
00:10:44
Speaker
Cheers. Cheers.
00:10:52
Speaker
Oh my gosh. Did you get your zing? Yeah, I think it's because of the gulp. got a little bit of zing. But your face happened to freeze, I guess right after took your sip. So you were just like, it was like a very confused face. I'm sure that was so lovely. There's nothing better than a frozen computer screen an unflattering face.
00:11:20
Speaker
Yeah. But could you explain that face? Cause it was a very confusion, like not like thinking face. It was more of like a, well, at first I was a little confused by the taste. It kind of took me off kilter, if you will, for a second there. don't know if that's the right word, but that is how it made me feel. yeah And, but I'm warming up to her. let me take one more. Yeah. I think the second sip, I, I, I,
00:11:51
Speaker
I would dabble. I would dabble. It's so funny. It's almost like the wine surprises when we drink it the first time and they're like, oh, we need a second sip. Like what the hell was wrong with the first sip?
00:12:02
Speaker
Like, are we just so shocked that we're drinking a glass of wine that we're like, oh my God. yeah My body was like rejecting it in itself. I'm sure. well I'm sure that yours was. So tell us like what we need some details. Everybody needs details. You guys.
00:12:17
Speaker
I mean, um to be able to drive do you need to start your own like Ivy drip or something? Honestly, we debated it. we did We did. I'm not joking. We debated i was like, maybe we can just buy the bags and I'll start the IDs on everybody like to save on pricing. But, um, so it was a girls, a quick, literally 24 hour girls turnaround. Um, one of, um, my, my friends and neighbor and actually previous guests on the podcast, Jess, um, she
00:12:50
Speaker
Had a friend from high school. my gosh, I may be quoting this so badly. I think that's correct. From from high school or college, one of those, that opened up a swim shop store. It's called, I'm going to butcher this, Monty, Monty, Mons, Monse, I don't sharing it like just dm me if you want me to spell it out for you um gorgeous gorgeous high quality bathing suits um so we're like let's go check out the storefront because you know how it is when you buy online like dealing with the returns alone is so annoying um so they're like well why don't we like go and like
00:13:30
Speaker
stay the night and make a girl's day out of it. Like literally a 24 hour girl strip. So we did, we went to West Palm. That is where it's located. um had an absolute blast, literally ate and drank everything in sight. We did go to a very popular restaurant that actually,
00:13:48
Speaker
Taylor Swift herself has eaten at. Thank you very much. john It's called Bucan, Bucan, Bucan, Bucan. Again, d me. I'll be happy. yeah let's do Yeah. You know what? The phonetics, you guys, don't even worry about it. The pronunciation, don't worry about it. You already know that's a weakness of mine. So like this is just not helping the case. But you guys, the amount of, I have to tell this story because the amount of crazy little things that happened along the way. So we...
00:14:18
Speaker
We're going, we went to a happy hour. This is going to, oh my gosh, let me reinstill love for everybody. I have to tell this story. We went to a Give it to us. at the pink monk. I will give them a shout out because it was a beautiful pink bar, like gorgeous, gorgeous. Apparently they have really good food. We were just there for a happy hour. They open happy, they open, well, happy hours from five to six. We didn't know that. We thought it was a full day restaurant type thing. So we're like, let's just show up at five so we can go.
00:14:44
Speaker
They were actually not open. So we're there 15 minutes early. We're starting a line. Okay. Well, this is Disney now. This is rope dropping. Like we are rote dropping happy hour stop for this place and another gal comes along by herself comes along and we're like oh are you are you here to do happy hours on she's like yes i am um along in the back of the line girl Right. Exactly. Who are you? Get out. yeah But I'm like, oh my gosh, that's great. Yeah. Join us. Like we're just waiting for them to open. This was like 15 minutes till. Okay. um
00:15:17
Speaker
Then this precious, you guys, this precious old man, he had to be I mean, he looked great for his age. we I regret not having his age. That's a nice way to put it, Jermaine. Well, the reason why I say that is because i would have never guessed that he had 50-year-old children and 20- and 30-year-old grandchildren. thought you going to say he was like 50 or 60. No, he was like 70s and up for sure.
00:15:45
Speaker
Again, looked great for his age. He was dressed to the nice. Like, oh, are you waiting too? like Come on, come join us. Like, you know, so it's us four, this girl that walked up and now this, you know, gentleman, we'll call him, that I named Jerry for the time being because we never even got his name. Anyways, long story short, this gal,
00:16:01
Speaker
Sweet as can be. i actually, we're actually friends on Instagram now. So maybe she seen this and is going to listen to this, but she's a mom. She's a mom of twins who was, they were living in one of the condos upstairs with her husband. um And she, you know what she said? This is so perfect for this podcast. You know, she said, she was like, I just need, I needed some me time, 17 month old twins. And she was like, I need some me time. So I told my husband I was going to come down for a happy hour.
00:16:27
Speaker
she went but She came down by herself because she needed some mom reset and refresh. I love that. i love that. loved that for her i said get under this wing you're coming you're sitting with us now okay it's like that's what we needed to but we did we took it we needed a day we we don't live here we are we we left our family we had to get the hell out of there and take some time but that is okay also how dangerous to live so close to what i'm assuming is a wonderful happy hour for rope dropping happy hour it's got to be good
00:17:00
Speaker
Absolutely gorgeous. A gorgeous place. And I just, ah it made me so happy for her because I don't know if I would ever just go downstairs to a nice bar by myself just to like have some peace. I mean, maybe I would, i don't know, but like that she was so approachable, so friendly. she ended up joining us, but the story, the story that comes in clutch right here, you guys is the story about Jerry, this old man.
00:17:22
Speaker
Who is literally, ah oh, you think he's an angel now? Wait till you you hear what I'm about to tell you. I have feeling I know. You guys. I have a feeling I know. He told us he was there because he was waiting to meet a lady for a first date that he had never met.
00:17:40
Speaker
No. True story. I swear to goodness. Did one just, did you see the lady? Did, did she arrive? So she arrived at five promptly and instantly he stopped talking to us. Like he instantly turned around gave her a hug. Oh my God. Like we were nothing. We were like ah completely understandable, Jerry. Like you don't want i get her first impression to be like, Oh, he's talking to younger ladies. Like, and not to be like rude, not to be rude, but like this was West Palm. Okay. There was a lot of older men with younger women.
00:18:10
Speaker
around. You guys know. You guys you guys know. i don't I'm not going to go any further than that, which each their own, you know, but Jerry turns around. You guys. Jerry turns around. They hug and then we're like, let's leave Jerry his peace. However, we must be within eyesight of Jerry. Make sure that this date is going well. Sure. They sat in this little corner table. i had the perfect visual. I literally watched them the entire time. Did you mean a third wheeling their date?
00:18:37
Speaker
1000%. I was letting the other girls, because their backs were to it, so I was letting them know the play-by-play of Jerry. I'm like, you guys are giggling. They're laughing. They both ordered wine. She ordered a white. He ordered a red. I'm like, she's definitely drinking a Savi B. Looks like a Savi B gal. He was definitely like a Pinot Noir, probably just trying to impress her to go something light. Or Jerry could have maybe been drinking a cab.
00:19:00
Speaker
But you guys, the the sweetness and the love is not dead that was instilled in all of us at the fact that this guy. oh and it gets better. Are you ready? So we see the manager walking by. We stop We're like, we have to express this. We would really like to send something over to Jerry. And he was like, oh, who's Jerry? I made his name up. We'd like to send something to that couple right there. They're on their first date. They've never met.
00:19:25
Speaker
And we would really like to, you know, either send them like a dessert or an appetizer. Like, what are they ordering? Like, what's the vibe over there? Right. He tells us, oh, that she knew the lady. She was like, that is so and so. She comes down. She's a snowbird. She comes down every winter and she always dines here alone.
00:19:47
Speaker
Oh, no. yeah This is the first time that we have seen her on a date. Oh, my God. girl i literally it was like, girls, we have to pay their bill. Like, i But like what wine are they drinking? Because maybe we'll just cover for half. Right. Yeah. Maybe we just like need to send them a bottle instead. No. Meanwhile, one of my my good friends who was on the trip with me, not our new bestie that joined us, she was like, let's send them shots. I'm like, oh my God, they're not going to be taking shots, you guys. Like we cannot send them a shot. like
00:20:19
Speaker
and but But can you imagine if we did send them a shot and like Jerry looked at us and we're like, Jerry! do do do Like really like amping him up like frat brothers. Like could you imagine? Anyways, that's the story of Jerry and that's the story of happy hour. and it was a great time.
00:20:33
Speaker
i'll i will go back just to kind of follow up. on I want to say I want to call the restaurant. Hey, how did that date end? you i mean, if they know, if they if she's recognizable, like if they know that she has like been there frequently, then I feel like they could probably give you an update, but man, love is, listen, if he love, love is still alive. That's obviously, he's obviously in his like seventies. If he has kids in their fifties, like he's in his 60s, 60s, seventies. I mean, good for him still doing his thing, put himself out there and literally, and, and that wasn't it. So that was just like the beginning of like, Oh my gosh, like how amazing that night when we went to the restaurant, the Taylor Swift dinette, we sat next to this gentleman
00:21:18
Speaker
who at one point in dinner calls over his waiter and hands him this huge book. And it was like, I autographed this for you. ah The moment you're autographing something, who are you?
00:21:31
Speaker
I'm chronically nosy. Who are you? Because the waiter was beside himself. Oh my God, this is, this means so much to me. Thank you so much. And I'm like, who the fuck are you? You're literally sitting right next to me. Like that's how close we are. Like, who are you? Um,
00:21:45
Speaker
So obviously because the waiter was making a spectacle and we're so close to each other, I'm looking at them like, oh my God, I'm hi. And he goes, he is a very famous photographer.
00:21:56
Speaker
He's an incredible famous photographer. So we looked him up. His name is David Yarrow. You can look him up. he has photograph He is more known for photographing like wildlife and things like that. but cool.
00:22:07
Speaker
So that was our second sighting. And then I'm going to end the story with the following morning we went and had breakfast at Swifties at the colony, which is the aesthetic vibe of a dream. yeah And we practically had breakfast with Kathy Lee Gifford. She sat behind, she sat the table next to us.
00:22:24
Speaker
The kindest, kindest soul i've ever met we of course you know when you see celebrities like you don't want to interrupt them you don't want to be like that person right interrupt their meal but there was a girl that came and interrupted i was like i'm so sorry to interrupt like i and she literally did not care you guys she was so genuinely like thank you so much i mean so much because the girl was like me and my mom watched you every day like you hoda like everybody like we love you so much blah blah blah she was so kind and she actually like answered things back so well so how is your mom is she still watching like she was just so genuine and kind and then when she asked for a picture she's like oh my gosh honey of course let me get my lip gloss
00:23:05
Speaker
oh no stop it that actually does not surprise me with kathy lee though like that is come on she she's a diva she's a diva she's queen let me get my like flossy stood up and instantly i'm looking at the girls i'm like well shit like i kind of want a picture with her now like i don't want just like the fake ass pictures we've been taken then was like no and then she gave her you know what she didn't because she's gonna go and gonna give her a little plug here you're welcome kathy But we're friends now. So I'm going to give you this plug. But she is going on a book tour. Jamina with the name drops.
00:23:33
Speaker
you Right. Literally. She is going on her book tour. So she is she does have a new book coming out. And it is various a very spiritual style book. um So you know what she does? You know she in her purse?
00:23:44
Speaker
You know what she gave this girl after and her friend after they took a picture? She carries those little baby Jesuses. Yes. She says, i give this to anyone. She says, I give this to anyone and everyone that wants to meet me. because and So simple.
00:23:58
Speaker
The best part about this? Her friends leave. Okay. She was there with a lady. They had the cutest little puppy. That's how we first interacted. Cause the puppy was literally on her back, like wanting to like pet with us. So like, Oh my gosh, she's cute. And of course, Kathy's like, she's a tramp.
00:24:12
Speaker
That's a direct quote from Kathy Lake. I've heard literally called me a tramp jokingly. But her friends left. She sat there by herself for another 30 to 45 minutes and literally like chimed in conversation with us. Like she's just a girl's girl, y'all. Like she like we looked up the weather for us. She was like, girls, you guys are going shopping. Let me look up the weather. Like this is going clear up. It's looking good over there, right? Like she was a gem. She's an absolute gem.
00:24:37
Speaker
Kathy, call me. Let's chat sometime. Let's come on the podcast. Come have some wine with us. like Yes, come have some wine with us. Maybe the next girls trip you include You would yeah include Kathy. Yeah. and We're going to include Kathy. And you know what? Maybe she can just come and talk about, maybe she can do some press for her book, for her upcoming book.
00:24:53
Speaker
it She has coming up. We can do a little book giveaway. I mean, a little something. Yeah. For our girl, Kathy. our girl, Kathy. Long story short, great incredible reset lots of martinis we're drank long long story short you guys long story short long story long long story long everyone should go to west pombie beach for 24 hours um and i'm gonna stop talking now moving on what's going on there because you guys did something very impulsive and crazy yesterday that is the sweetest thing ever and it's like a rite of passage and i i need you to go detail by detail of how this went down
00:25:32
Speaker
Yeah, so we, I just told Jamina right before we started recording and I'm like, I know I should probably wait for the episode, like to get your like true excitement, but I just have to tell you what

Ear Piercing Stories and Reflections

00:25:43
Speaker
we did.
00:25:43
Speaker
So we were at a little fresh market in Hyde Park yesterday. it's just a little area of town in Tampa. so we were there yesterday with the kids. We had lunch and then we were going over to do some shopping And I saw this piercing place and I was like, oh my God.
00:26:00
Speaker
i was like, Greg, should we, should we get Kennedy's ears pierced? And he was like, yeah, let's do it. So I asked her, i'm like, hey, would you want to get your ears pierced today? And she was like,
00:26:12
Speaker
yeah. yeah why are you out Why are you asking me that? Yeah. Like, was like, i is this a trick? Like, she was kind of like, and she was so excited. So we walked into this place that was in Hyde Park and they only did like 13 and up, which was kind of like, we were, we were vibing. We were like on a high. were like let's go. We were so excited. um Like we were, I was in, it like I was in Lululemon looking for a specific bag. But as soon as she said yes, I was like, we got, we're going to go now. Like drop everything. We're going to the piercing place. And so we walk in there. We're so excited. and then the lady's like, oh, we only do 13 it up. So it was like buzzkill. yeah let' Yeah. I mean, I'm sure there's reasonings, but also like, okay, whatever. So we found another place that a friend had taken her daughter to recommended. They had an appointment available that afternoon.
00:27:01
Speaker
So we got in the car, went over there, like literally like right down the street and she got her ears pierced. And it was just the best experience. Also so expensive, you guys, to get like quality. you're not listen You're not going to Claire's and getting your little rinky dinky.
00:27:21
Speaker
Tinky tinky earrings. What was the deal? Like 10 for $5? Oh my God. No, it's like literally like buy three, get 17 free. You know, like that it's insane. Like how they are still in business. Like they've got cute like stuff for kids. They really do. But I'm like,
00:27:40
Speaker
Because then at that point, like, it's so accurate, though. I can't pick the 17 items I want from here for free. um so yes. So, I mean, it wasn't cheap to get her ears pierced. But, you guys, it's so different now, like, cleaning them and, like, the process with ears pierced. I remember you were always having to turn it. You were having clean it with a certain solution and a Q-tip. Like, it was very specific.
00:28:05
Speaker
When we were younger and now it was like, she was like, leave them alone. You can do, um, like saline spray solution. to other than that, she don't twist them. Like don't do alcohol, like leave, basically like leave them alone.
00:28:18
Speaker
and I was like, okay. So we're freshie fresh off of new, new earrings. Yeah. What a brave girl, first of all, to just like, because like she didn't even like, not that she didn't have time to think about it. I'm sure she has seen friends and, you know, who all have had ears pierced and she's always maybe had it in the thought of her mind. So the fact that like she just impulsively like was just like yeah, hell yeah.
00:28:46
Speaker
Didn't have to think about it. Like go with the flow was so excited. Now if you ask her if it hurt, she's like, yeah, no, it did. It for sure hurt. Like she's not going to bullshit you or try to be like tough. She's like, I didn't cry, but yes, it did hurt. It for sure hurt. So like, I will kind of they'll say that. Like if I asked her,
00:29:04
Speaker
Now, like knowing what she knows, i don't know if she would do it again. ay But they're so cute. They're these beautiful little crosses. And like every time I look at her, I'm like, and she's still she's like, I can't believe I got my ear ears pierced. I can't believe it. And the whole time, because we had to like get in the car, go to the new places ever the whole time. She's like, I'm so excited. i can't wait. I'm so excited. We were looking at the earrings. I'm so excited.
00:29:26
Speaker
I can't believe I'm so excited. I just kept saying it. That so cute. Yeah. So it was just like the best. And the the fact that it was like kind of just like spur of the moment and we were all like, let's do it.
00:29:37
Speaker
Made it even more, more fun. So was it just you and Greg with her or was like, it was the whole family like adventure? Whole family. charlie Well, Aubrey was not there. She was with friends. She they had had a date with her friends.
00:29:51
Speaker
So it was the four of us there. And of course, Charlie's all over the place. She's wanting to sit in the chair with her. I'm like, I swear to God, if you bump this chair while this lady has a needle in her ear.
00:30:04
Speaker
I'm going to be kicking you out of this room. She broke a glass while we were there. i was like Jesus Christ. Yes, I swear. um ah to time girl Yeah. it that I can't go anywhere without somebody making some kind of scene. um But no, it was. he i guess the big question here is, did she also want her ears pierced? Or like, what was that conversation She did not. She did not show interest. She didn't say anything. She knew what Kenny was getting done, but she was kind of just like, she was there for moral support.
00:30:35
Speaker
And they had this big TV that you could pick whatever you wanted. And there was like a little thing of Peppa Pig. Kenny was i don't watch Peppa Pig. I'm like, well, it's little too young for you, but what everyone loves Peppa. and so Charlie mainly wanted to be there for support, but also be there to watch Peppa. so Yeah. you know free screen time for me yeah she was like hell yeah she's like oh yeah this is the best time like you can get how long does this take like is this like three peppa pig episodes like what's the my time frame here yeah she probably to start like bartering with kenny to get more piercings like you want one in the cart cartilage you want your second piercing yet starting to barter with her to get more peppa pig time i'm dead oh my gosh i love that though like what a memory how old was aubrey when she got her ears pierced
00:31:21
Speaker
She was probably eight. Okay. Yeah. She's right on the same age. Cause I remember where we lived when she got them done. and I can do that like math of timeframe.
00:31:36
Speaker
So think it was right around eight or nine. now with her, did you have to do like the twisting, the cleaning or I had like, I had trauma with her. Is remember when the stud went into her ear?
00:31:47
Speaker
oh my God. Yes. I forgot. her ear literally ate the earring. Yeah. i but literallyly ate the year like I can't even talk about I was just telling this story to someone today. I was like, no one had chair you have to share the story because I honestly genuinely forgot about the story until you just said it again.
00:32:05
Speaker
It was so traumatizing. So with Kennedy's, the earring that she got, the back of it is flat. And then it's like a long post and then there's the cross, right? And so the lady told she said, when it heals, you can come back and we'll cut the post down a little bit. So it's like closer to your ear. But right now, like it's got to stay like this.
00:32:22
Speaker
When Aubrey got hers done, it's a irregular, like pushback earring. So it was so squeezed so tightly to her ear that she took a nap one day. did I don't mean to laugh. No, this is like number one. your trauma This is your trauma. This is trauma. When I tell you guys ears freak me out, like anything dealing with ears, like really just, that's why I didn't want to get Kennedy's done for so long. because um I don't want to take care of them. I don't want to touch them. Like. yeah yeah Yeah. yeah Gives you the ick, if you will. It gives you the ick.
00:32:53
Speaker
And so Aubrey takes this nap. She wakes up and her stud is gone. And I was like, oh, man. I was like, where did the like your earring go? We're looking at her bed. Can't find it. Now the back is still there. And you can see like the post. Like you can see the back of the earring and like the post, like the stick or whatever you want to call it. Yeah.
00:33:13
Speaker
And I'm like, where the hell is the earring? And then I touch her ear and I'm like, oh my Christ. The earring itself, the stud was inside her lobe.
00:33:25
Speaker
Inside her lobe. so And these were like pretty freshly done. yeah And so I was trying to at least like, I was trying to pull on the back or like try to kind of like push it out myself. And it just like wasn't happening. And two,
00:33:39
Speaker
There's no way God's green earth I could have gotten that thing out and not fainted. This is a medical emergency at this point. This is a medical emergency. So we went to the medical walk-in clinic and they had to numb her ear and push it back through. they had to push the stud out of her ear. So like trauma level a thousand, she didn't feel like she was fine because it was, it was numb and she didn't feel anything. But I remember like seeing them, like they're, they were trying to be so gentle and they were like pushing it through and their hands were like shaking because they were trying to like,
00:34:15
Speaker
They were trying to be gentle with her ear, but also steady. Yes. And i will never forget just watching them do that and being so horrified that it was Literally in her ear, in her body. Like that is inside of your body.
00:34:32
Speaker
no That is, that is. So anywho, me. you know I hope no one has to happen to that. Yeah. So me even suggesting for Kanye to get her ears done was like.
00:34:47
Speaker
kind of had a left at latter left field no it's not it wasn't that you needed to be healed needed it was it was it was a healing experience it really was yeah you needed to be healed and this was the full circle moment you needed now is there still time yeah but if there's a freaking cross that goes through Kenny's ear off her ear like she doesn't need it no she's gonna have a singular ear after that it just take the whole ear doc she does not need it She doesn't listen that well anyway, so one will be fine. nothing
00:35:21
Speaker
She'll be a-okay. Who knows? Maybe this will heighten her hearing. She'll actually listen more because she only has Because she can only rely on one. She's like, I guess I freaking better listen. Yeah.
00:35:37
Speaker
listen up so so yeah that was she doesn't listen that well anyway just chop it off chop it off just take it try to return the earring because those earrings are expensive you guys the earrings are expensive yeah But that's how you know they're high quality earrings. They're not going to be turning it green when it's freshly pierced. It's worth the investment for the this beginning phase. And you know what? It's a pair of earrings that she will have for the rest of her life. These were her first pair of earrings. like
00:36:08
Speaker
It's just she'll never get rid of those. So that is so special. What a brave girl to do that. um I've been meaning to do Avery's. I'm just... It's too far away. The place i want to take her to, it's just far away. And I don't want to drive there. And Ben said he's not going to come because he's like, i can't watch you do that to my baby. I'm like, they're earrings. Like, chill. She'll be fine.

Upcoming Family Events and Celebrations

00:36:30
Speaker
it's like Also, like drop us at the front door and be back in an hour. Yeah. like an hour I just literally need you to drive me. like Yeah, we actually didn't want you to come. We but you just want you to drive us. I wasn't inviting you to be there. I just need you to be my chauffeur. Yeah.
00:36:45
Speaker
you you misread the situation like kennedy's been calling um she's been like facetiming our family and she'll like be like this like hold the phone up she's like do you notice anything different about me so she's everybody she'll like she keeps wanting to call everybody so yeah and then we haven't called becca yet but unly be like oh my god actually no you know what becca we probably noticed like He'd be like, uh, like waiting for you to like, waiting for you like climb in. Like, what is it? What is it? So funny. Classic men.
00:37:19
Speaker
These men. We have, well, we have my sister's baby shower this coming weekend. um So my family will see it in person, which she's very excited to like, just be like flaunting her ears the whole time.
00:37:33
Speaker
so I love this for her. I love this moment. She's going just be. I mean, does she love just going to school today? Like I can only imagine her going to school and being able to be like, so like I can just see her. If she's doing that via FaceTime, I can't imagine live time.
00:37:48
Speaker
the The amount of times that she told me between last night and this morning, she was like, I'm going to go to school and I'm going to look and see what, because they go out to like, they have like courtyard time. If they're there early enough, they get courtyard time they get to play, but they all set their backpacks down. She's like, I'm going to go in and see which girls buy their backpacks who is there.
00:38:04
Speaker
And then I'm going to go tell them and see if they notice anything different about me. Yeah. She told me this like multiple times. And so then when i she got in the car, I was like so tell me. like tell me what everybody said. the girlies say. so i love that. Yeah, I love that she'll get that live time this weekend at your sister's baby shower. Do we know what she's having or is she being surprised?
00:38:28
Speaker
Another boy. Another boy. Yes. And then my brother and my sister-in-law, they are due like Any day now, like the next, yeah I think within the next week with another little girl. So like girl, girl on their side. and then my sister is boy, boy.
00:38:44
Speaker
um so it's so, it's just so funny because I have three girls and I'm like, you guys, somebody's got to break the, somebody's going to break it up, break it up a little bit. So, yeah, baby shower.
00:38:57
Speaker
It's, um, we're going to Savannah. So we're going up to see her. She was just outside Savannah and it's going to be, we're having it the old pink house, which we did last time, which it's so, it's so beautiful. um we love it there. And like I said, we did it last time and it was like, if it's not, what, if it's not broke, don't fix it. Like we were all like, let's just do it there again. It was a wonderful experience. Yeah. So yeah.
00:39:22
Speaker
Yeah. I love that. Love that. How I just love babies and baby shower and like, it's just fun. I'm just waiting for like more of our friends to have more babies so like I can continue loving it through there.
00:39:36
Speaker
I know. i'm And I'm the weirdo that likes to like when people are like opening their like baby shower gifts or even like we don't have this as much anymore. People were getting married and they were like the bridal showers. I love seeing what you're opening. im Like I think that's a you either hate to watch people open gifts or you love it.
00:39:52
Speaker
I love it. I love to see what you're getting. Like what's the new thing? Like I'm not having any more babies. Like what's the new gadget? What's the new like shop that people are getting clothes from or the new swaddle? And like same with home things. Like what's your vibe for your home? So I'm the weirdo that loves it.
00:40:09
Speaker
No, I agree. i also love it. I just hate being on the other end of it. I hate being the one being stared at. Like yeah I just don't like being stared at because I know not only are you looking at gifts, you're looking at my face expression. Especially because if you know me and you know I just opened gift that either I just opened two presents ago or it's a gift that you're like, what the, what is this?
00:40:32
Speaker
Like you you're going to recognize my face and I need to keep a poker face, and which I am not the greatest at. So yeah. But no, do I love watching the gifts and new gadgets? I'm with you. Yes. Give me all the gifts and gadgets and fun things. And speaking of Savannah, Becca and Ben went to the Savannah Bananas game at Dope Campbell Stadium, which I'm so jealous. I want to see the Savannah Bananas so bad. um They had a great time.
00:40:59
Speaker
great time it it sold out like doke campbell stadium was decked out and it was massive i saw so many people went like so many people went which is amazing and it was really cool to see doke like that yeah like it was a sold out stadium like literally i think everyone in tallahassee went like everyone in tallahassee had a ticket to attend um it did ben did say it was a little overwhelming there's just a lot going on in the game he's like i would see him again like a smaller stadium right but um but yeah like that was just a fun little like trip since i was gone he took the kids to tally kids and dog which is even better because when i got home nobody was home i had a house to myself like two hours of silence and peace
00:41:45
Speaker
Oh my God. That's either like kind of like kick it into gear and like do a little cleaning. It's like, should I do this and myself or should just sit on the couch end maybe take a nap or do nothing? i would have probably personally opted for the latter, but good on you. That is what I say. i'm like, let's be honest. like I was running on four hours of sleep. i yeah I needed every kind of laziness known to man and out of possibility one yeah 10 but no so overall just you know good times a lot has happened in these past 48 hours 72 whatever week and um more to come i'm excited to hear what what do you guys eat at at the baby shower there oh my god it know chronically nosy need to know like what's on the menu what are you guys gonna have
00:42:33
Speaker
I will give you the full details next week, but you guys, it is so wonderful because you pick like a full-blown menu, like first course, second course. Like, do you want past appetizers? Do you want a seafood tower? do you want like a fruit display? Like you pick everything. You pick the liquors you're serving. You pick the wine. You you pick the you can either pick like...
00:42:57
Speaker
No alcohol, wine and beer only, full bar, no shots. Like you can pick, literally you go through the form and you pick everything. um Love that. And the foods always, like they just have great options. And like I said, last time we did it there, the service, the room we have it in, the food, the drinks, it's just like,
00:43:17
Speaker
truly 10 out of 10. And I've eaten there before I ever, we ever did the shower there. I ate there for

Nostalgia and Millennial Culture Revival

00:43:25
Speaker
dinner. I went on my sister-in-law's bachelorette party there and we had dinner there and it was just a fantastic experience. Um, and that's like, I feel like when you think of Savannah and you think of a restaurant, it's, it's the old pink house. Like everyone knows the old pink house. So, um But also you think of the food. There's such good food there. That's not like, side what are you going to have? can't wait for the breakdown of everything that was served and everything that was eaten at this baby shower because...
00:43:51
Speaker
Also, whatever new gadgets, like let's bring on the new gadgets. Like, please make note of that so we can discuss these new gadgets that we wish we would have had. Like, I think that would be a great topic of conversation because there is so much that has come out since we've had babies.
00:44:06
Speaker
I know so much. I think, yeah, so much has changed. There's always something new and it's things that you like, you don't realize, right? It's like things at the time. It's like, you're good like the things that you have it's like this is what's out in the market like this is this this is what's getting me through my early days of motherhood or in my toddler era or whatever and then you see this new stuff come out and it's like damn that would have been nice you know but you're right there's a lot like that's not just like the past few weeks that's literally the past like what 48, 72 hours, its just literally this moment, for up breath stuff that's been going on. So we definitely needed this little chatty chat because we have both just been kind of cuckoo crazy. And that's goes for everyone, no matter if you're going on a girl's trip, planning a baby shower, going to birthday parties, play dates, getting ears pierced, like anything in between. it's just like, we're like running, running, running, running. And it's like, wait, when does it slow down again? It doesn't. Surprise. This is life now.
00:45:09
Speaker
In case you're wondering, because I've been asking myself this for many years. I'm like, when did it, when did we get to that peak? I keep, I feel like I keep peaking with my yeah craziness, but it's just, it's a peak and then it's just the peak plateau and it never stops. So, yeah you know. and It's the climb, you know. It's the climb.
00:45:30
Speaker
Miley said it first as speaking, like, quit take quick tangents for the millennials out there, like Hannah Montana, 20-year anniversary. 20? it 20? I think it's 20.
00:45:43
Speaker
Don't quote me on the on the time, but that's coming up. Hilary Duff is back giving concerts, like, ah Laguna Beach is having a special on Roku. You guys, we're back. like this we're We are so back. This is our time.
00:46:00
Speaker
Yeah. Like, step back, Gen We're back. Yeah.

Wine Rating and Episode Conclusion

00:46:04
Speaker
We're back. yeah you scared of Are you scared of us yet? They should be, honestly. You should be. Who's afraid of little old me?
00:46:12
Speaker
All of you guys should be because millennials... There's just no time, like a millennial timeframe, honestly. Like, wow. I know. What a time. We did a lot of things. We did a lot of things. Now, will you be watching the Laguna Beach special reunion with this glass of wine in your hand? Or how are we feeling? Robles?
00:46:34
Speaker
Tell me. i don't know. I mean, i think it's definitely like I don't want to say it's definitely drinkable because anything is drinkable, right? But I like it. I don't know If it's on the roster, how about that? Okay. Okay.
00:46:51
Speaker
What are your thoughts? um I like it, but it's just kind of like a if I saw it and I was like kind of in a panic, I would grab that versus grabbing something that i don't know or I haven't had. Instead of like trying to figure out something new, I would i would be like I know that I've had this and I know that I like it. I don't love it, but I know that I like it. Right. So that's kind of where I'm at with it. Yeah. Yeah.
00:47:16
Speaker
it's it's it's giving it's giving shrek it'll do donkey it'll do that'll do donkey that'll do yeah like it's yeah that's what it's giving for me so i'm there with you i mean like is it worthy of being tossed like some of the other ones that we have had to unfortunately toss no no it's not It's not.
00:47:41
Speaker
No, we've had, yeah, there have been a couple of rough ones this season that, and it's so painful to throw away wine. It is so painful because there's a lot of money that we spend on wine. Now, granted, this is like, what did we $20 to $24. But if you think about, let's just say like an average wine that we buy $15, right?
00:48:03
Speaker
Okay. When our seventh season, you guys do the math. I don't want to do the math. Don't I don't want to do the math. Do the math privately. and the episode, the number of episodes we do are like in the teens. Again, I'm not going to tell you an exact number because I don't want to do quick math in my head and cry.
00:48:25
Speaker
could have probably made me do this privately. Yeah, we'll do this. Yeah. Yeah. c Specifically headquarters, okay my husband.
00:48:35
Speaker
Ben specifically, Ben specifically. You are HR, but don't tell IT. Yeah. Yeah. IT, IT would have a fit. Okay. So are you thinking you're ready with your corking?
00:48:48
Speaker
Yeah, I think I have a good, I have a, I think I have a cork. I think I have a, cork because it's exactly how we described it. It's, It's not bad. It's not the best thing I've ever had. It'll do. I would i would strive to grab it over something that I didn't know would be good. And because I know this would be, it's just, you know what it is? It's it's kind of like, just like mediocre. There's not really a wow factor with it. I think that's why I'm describing it this way because there's no wow factor.
00:49:20
Speaker
Yeah. I could see that. you record? I think I do. um i can't remember who went the first, last time. It doesn't really matter. We always are around the same anyway. I know. I know. Let's shout it at the same time.
00:49:35
Speaker
Okay. Ready? Okay. Wait. what When are we okay. Now I'm stressed. It's like one two, three, shout. So you don't shout it on so one this is not doing it.
00:49:46
Speaker
I'm just example. Okay. This is an example. Okay. One, two, three. No, no, this is an example. This is an example. i'm gonna miss one It'd be one, two, three, number.
00:49:58
Speaker
Got it. One, two, three, number. And that speed. Well, it's just however I count it. You what I'm saying? Right. Of course. Of course. I'm stressed. Of course. Yes. I understand the game. You you recommended that we do this. I know. And I'm instantly regretting the game. Like now I'm i'm i'm stressed. Like I'm going to say it when you say three, just do the fingers. Like, let me just swatch your fingers and When you pull up the pinky, that's when we say it.
00:50:23
Speaker
Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Now you're counting backwards. like a what I was like, oh, I was doing motions. I didn't need to be doing my fingers. was going like this. um Okay. Let me just solidify. Let me solidify my number.
00:50:35
Speaker
I've got it. Oh, that was quick. That was quick. I just had to solidify it. Like, I don't know. Like I had a number and then I just needed to engrave it in stone. Okay. All right. ready?
00:50:46
Speaker
I'm so nervous. Are you going to Okay, ready? Yeah, of course I'm going to do it. we had you You closed your eyes and you told me just to show my fingers. Oh, right, right. I'm sorry. Yes, I'm so sorry. Not to count out loud. and So I don't know how you're going to when your eyes are closed. I'm very confused.
00:51:00
Speaker
I forgot I said that. Yes. Okay, sorry. I was getting nervous. I figured if I close my eyes, maybe I could just shout it by by the tone of your voice. But I'm ready. I'm prepared. I'm sorry. This is dragged on. Let's go. Let's just go for it.
00:51:12
Speaker
Okay, let's go. One, two three, 7.4.
00:51:18
Speaker
There you go, folks. There you go. 7374. It is what it is. debated but I wanted to solidify. i think 7-3 is a good corking for this. Like you said, 7-4. I think that that's a good... In between the 7 and the 7-5 mark is where it's a good... so It's a happy point. Happy medium right there.
00:51:38
Speaker
I agree. I almost went just because it was like 7-7. I'm that.
00:51:43
Speaker
Now we're being a little generous. So I dialed it back. I dialed it back. was like, it doesn't need us to vote seven. We both did vote So I feel like that says something for lucky number seven.
00:51:54
Speaker
It does say something. We must have picked the right wine for for this episode. Yeah, we did. Well, thanks for- I just thought of one more thing. No, tell us. On the Millennial Comeback Tour, Backstreet Boys are still at the Sphere. Just throwing that out there. Still at the Sphere. I think they're wrapping up.
00:52:12
Speaker
Wait. know they did They just finished their February. february Valentine's weekend was their final weekend there. And now they just added more dates in the summer. So i did we're back. You're kidding. I didn't see that.
00:52:24
