Podcast Introduction and Theme

00:00:00
Speaker
Welcome to Wine Mama, a podcast with two bestie moms, wine while they wine. I'm Jumina. And I'm Annie. Let's wine. And I know it's only been a week, right? Technically two weeks, if you think about like the space between episodes. We were only off for a week, but like did you guys miss us?

Hosts Catch Up with Humor

00:00:19
Speaker
like it's like Raise your hand. and Raise your hand if you missed us. Me. Okay. Me, personally me, mainly because um i miss our yap, you know, this and yap.
00:00:32
Speaker
The yaps that are yaps, guys, before the episode, during the episode, episode, episode, and then after the episode, i was trying to say episode and after, and it just kind of got, I don't know. words your heart trust me you did You do not ever have to justify words to me. Like, I know, i know. i don't Yeah. We didn't get any better in this like bi-week because of spring break. Nothing has changed. We're just,
00:01:00
Speaker
we're we're still us. We're still trying to figure out words at the ripe old age of, oh, you are going to be 36 It's up.

Jumina's Art Event Encounter

00:01:13
Speaker
But don't worry, because they recently saw our girly girl, taryn and she fixed me up to like young as ever so um to the point i just want to point this out to the point that when i saw her we went to like this little art event show for her mom later um so shout out to that because she literally her mom is the most talented human being um you guys should all go look at her art and buy some because it's beautiful but anyways um What was I going with this? Oh, someone asked me if I got lip filler. And o I like, oh my gosh, no, I didn't. But let me go tell my esthetician because she's here. um So yeah, no, she's keeping me youthful. And um I don't know how i feel about this one.
00:01:55
Speaker
I'm not going lie. I feel like it's like crossing a barrier, a sound wave. Like, i don't know. like It's still technically mid 30s. So it's not too slow. scary yet. I know. Well, I mean... Over the hill.
00:02:09
Speaker
I'm still... Consider me over the hill. um Well, I'm still 35 for a few more months, so i won't understand. I don't that. Okay, want everyone to know, she loves to brag about being the youngest, but she's the one with the most body issues, so like her back doesn't work. like no I thought you were like...
00:02:28
Speaker
I thought you meant like body image issues. And I was like, just christ stuff no, that's why said body issues, not body image. Like, do you have something to say? Do you have body images? yeah That's literally what I, that's literally what I thought at first. and I was like, Oh my God.
00:02:43
Speaker
No, I'm talking like grandma tendencies. Okay. And no judgment. We all love a good grandma, but like, yeah. yeah i Yeah. Yeah. So I just want to point that out because she loves to throw that age situation out there. And, um,
00:02:56
Speaker
My back's not feeling fine, okay? My knees may click, but my back is feeling fine. No, it is so true. I'm like 35-year-old. a 75-year-old in body.
00:03:11
Speaker
it is but It is what it is. It is what it is. It's about how we feel, right?

Wine Choice: Argyle Chardonnay

00:03:16
Speaker
Which is actually very, I'm not going to get into the topic, but it's very on brand with what we're going to discuss tonight. But I feel like before we discuss, I know everyone's dying to know what we will be whining with this week.
00:03:31
Speaker
And this week we are whining with Argyle Chardonnay, which everyone knows how we feel about a chard, but this is a chard that drew our attention because It is from Willamette Valley.
00:03:44
Speaker
Did I say that? Yeah, Willamette. You did. I remember. Sounds like damn it. hu And that's the only reason I remember that. That's the only reason I remember that. I'm like, I have to say, damn it, Willamette, Willamette Valley. Yes. I'm very excited for this wine though.
00:03:57
Speaker
I know. Very excited. So um whether celebrating a life moment, big or small, or discovering Oregon's vibrant wine culture, you can always start with Argyle. Argyle remains the only winery in the world to be named to Wine Spectator's Top 100 list for sparkling, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. Located in the heart of downtown Dundee, Oregon, their tasting house is your gateway to Oregon wine country. um That's a pretty big award.
00:04:27
Speaker
because it was very specific in the three varietals of what they won that for. so already starting pretty on a high pedestal here. Yeah. I mean, a sparkling, a white, and a red, and being on the top 100 list for all three of those, I'm like, okay, you guys you guys have made a name for yourselves for sure. And I mean, when you sent me the wine, like I'm like, I've heard of this name before. I just haven't had anything by them. Also, when I was looking up Chardonnays on their website, they have like like a bunch of different Chardonnays. So like all different kinds. This one is specifically the, I think it's the 2023 vintage Chardonnay. so yeah.

Argyle Winery History and Philosophy

00:05:09
Speaker
But winemaking Argyle is a collective journey rooted in the rich tradition of Oregon's Willamette Valley.
00:05:15
Speaker
Founder Roland Souls. It makes me think of Roland Stone. Roland Stone, yeah. Roland Souls was drawn to this region in 1979 by its pioneering spirit and the sense of community among winemakers. Now led by winemaker Kate Brown and vineyard manager Erica Miller, Argyle focuses on innovation and precision.
00:05:33
Speaker
They craft each small lot to preserve the unique character of their estate fruit, creating wines that reflect the land and the people who cultivate it. I like the sound of all this. I like hearing some women's names in there as we always do. i mean, yay men, but like even bigger yay for women doing things in the wine world. So, and the the price is very reasonable between $18 and $22. Yeah.
00:05:59
Speaker
yeah Very, very reasonable pricing. So if this is a good shard, then it's... going to be worth it, especially for that pricing. But I'm with you. you know We're not biased or anything, but women rule. So we make babies. You can't. Anyways, moving on.
00:06:17
Speaker
We make babies. You can't. um With this wine, um it is a lively and polished Chardonnay offering aromas of fresh red apple, zesty citrus, and a hint of spring, which I'm like,
00:06:30
Speaker
I don't know if I've ever heard that in a description, but spring is upon us. I mean, it's technically summer here in Florida, but spring is upon most of us. So hopefully we do taste that in this glass. Are we ready to give it, give it a try? Yeah. I'm trying to see I, if it smelled like apple juice or something.
00:06:48
Speaker
Could you smell spring in there? definitely, I, the moment I took a whiff of this, it just smells like bunnies and rainbows and leprechauns and all the, ah you know, the Easter bunny frolicking. So yeah, spring's there.
00:07:05
Speaker
Dandelion. I love this. All right. Let's give it a try. So we'll see. It doesn't. let's Cheers. Cheers.
00:07:18
Speaker
Okay.
00:07:22
Speaker
I don't hate it. I don't hate. Yeah. Red apple for sure. Yeah, you can definitely, there's definitely like an apple, apple-y hinge.
00:07:36
Speaker
Maybe. I don't mind that for a Chardonnay. I'm very surprised. it's I think it's different because of that. I think that's what's making it stand out compared to different Chardonnays that we've tried.
00:07:50
Speaker
And correct me I'm wrong, we've only other liked maybe one other Chardonnay all seven seasons. Yeah. I think it was the like one, maybe two. No, definitely one. And we were like over the moon. We like over the moon about it.
00:08:03
Speaker
it was so good. It helps that it's like super like cool, you know, like perfect temperature. I could see this being a little hint of spring, like a little spring, you know. Choice to sit outside with. Yes. The Easter bunny hops along and you're over there with your glass of wine, sipping, watching the Easter bunny. The kids are doing their Easter egg hunt. and things are Things are going good. Vibing. Yeah, vibing with the spring the spring air. Vibing. But I will say I can maybe see...
00:08:37
Speaker
why they won an award for this because this is a very different uh it's not texture what what's taste uh i guess taste yeah di perhaps yeah so yeah it's a different guess different palette kind of oops sorry just banged my phone guys different palette Yeah, it's good. But this will be a nice little wine to take us into tonight's episode. And it's an episode that I'm kind of surprised we I mean, we've talked about, you know, being active and working out and the motivation that that we have to work.
00:09:14
Speaker
be better for ourselves and for our kids in that

Exploring Gym Culture & Community

00:09:18
Speaker
way. but we haven't actually done an episode talking about, don't know, life of gym rats.
00:09:25
Speaker
yeah How the gym rat life became became gave us. So like there's i feel like there's so much that can be can be said about it And you and I are both pretty passionate about about that.
00:09:42
Speaker
And I think it it all stems to from health background and standpoint as well. There's a lot of things that we can control and a lot of things we cannot control, right? Things we can't control, genetics. Yeah.
00:09:59
Speaker
Yep. Genetics. That's the one thing. That list ends there. is one. There's some other things. Environmental concerns, I guess. sure and i be Sure. Sure. But we can control what we put in our mouths and how we treat our bodies, right? And it all stems from just...
00:10:19
Speaker
taking that step. And that's always the most intimidating step, right? It's actually one, finding the right place for you and going in to sign up and have that free trial. There's so many places now that have a free trial. And I mean, I could, on top of the list, we've got, um, berries, orange theory, we've got, um, F45, we've got, uh, burn bootcamp. We've got, um Pure Bar. All the Pilates studios. All the Pilates studios, yoga studios. um And then that's not even those are classes. I'm not even mentioning gyms. Okay. So it's very, very intimidating. and I think...
00:10:56
Speaker
going in and actually signing up is so hard. It's the hardest part. That is the hardest part is stepping foot in the door. Now, unless you're someone who's like moving from one like gym to another or one like workout community to another, meaning like going from like a berries to an orange theory or an orange theory to like F45, whatever, like unless you're already somebody who works out of you're like, I want to take this step and I want to walk into the front door of even if it's like, it doesn't matter if it's a gym or it's like these like HIIT workout classes, like it's still very much um intimidating, but no one like now being someone like, you think about like you like see somebody walk in the door, like I don't know that person's like new, right? yeah Like you don't like, you're not looking at someone coming in and like, for me, I mean, for me personally, I know you are the same. Like I'm not looking at someone and like,
00:11:50
Speaker
judging them in any way. I think, yeah, I mean, I think it's like when we have like when there's a sold out class or when like, i don't know, I just think it's a beautiful thing to see so many people like motivated on being healthy. And that's really what it is, right? Like you're wanting to stay fit, you're wanting to be healthy, and like the best version of you.
00:12:09
Speaker
And it's not even that, right? Everything it comes to is the moment you step into the gym, whether it's your first time or your one hundredth time, we all have the same common motivation, right? Like we're all there to want to have a mental, I don't think people talk about, and there's studies about like the mental health that this brings you to go have that moment to move your body, stretch your body. um I mean, i don't know about your experience, but like There's all ages, all bodies at Orange Theory. And when I tell you every single person that goes there is so motivating and we all push each other, like we all cheer each other on, like it's just we're all there for the same reason, right? But that first step can be hard and you do have to accept expectation versus reality, right? There is times where
00:13:01
Speaker
you ain't going get that hot bod overnight. It takes work and it takes dedication and it doesn't happen. And it takes commitment. It takes being disciplined. Let's go, let's start there because you could go one time and then what you go once a week, like that's not being disciplined about it. Like, right. Yeah. It's better than nothing, I guess, but I don't know. Like if you really wanted to wreak,
00:13:26
Speaker
optimum benefits go two times go more than once go twice a week and see see where that maybe that maybe gets you no I'm kidding but it is it comes down to um to discipline and I think you'll start you start to see that as you go right and then you you want to you want to go and you want to be in that environment how long have you been going to like how did you start and like choose orange theory like how long have you been going there Thank you so much for asking. um i
00:13:59
Speaker
I've been going to Orange Theory, I believe, since I lived in Jacksonville. Yes. My first class was i had a coworker that told me, hey, come take a free class with me. And I did sign up before I left. Like it was something so different. I have joined countless of gyms. OK. I've joined countless of gyms. There was a period in time where I did dedicate myself two a days at a gym. And this was before I graduated nursing school and I lost a lot of weight, but I did not do it the right way. I was depriving myself of calories. I was going to the gym twice a day. and it was more, honestly like looking back at it I know we talked about it, but I think it was more like body image issues at that point because of, you know, you're in college and you know, you're out partying, you're drinking all the time and you know, whatever may be like, you're not eating healthy. um so I just deprived myself of calories one summer. Like, I think I was honestly eating like,
00:14:54
Speaker
less than a thousand calories a day and making sure that i went to the gym twice. I would go sometime in the morning and then I would always go at nighttime and watch like a show. That was when I was in my bachelorette era. So like I would watch the bachelorette and bachelorette's like an hour and a half show. And I would right stay on the treadmill. I would make sure I would stand. that Like it was just a very unhealthy relationship for me. So when I started Orange Theory,
00:15:16
Speaker
was like, you know what? I think this is what I need. I need someone to guide me in what I need to do. i need like a trainer to tell me what to do. i need different workouts every time. i need to do it with friends, with a community. i need, that is what is going to work for me. And I mean, that's like 2013, you guys, like that's a very long time ago. um And i I've never, the only time I've ever stopped is one when i was pregnant with Beckett because I went once pregnant and I was like, hell no. Yeah. Yeah. do this. Not how do
00:15:52
Speaker
And then i will say i have had a lot of struggle after i had Beckett because going to a gym as a mom is very intimidating. Going to a gym postpartum is very intimidating. Going to a gym pregnant is very intimidating. So after I had Beckett, would go like once a month like once a week and it was not good like that it wasn't doing anything for me and i don't know if you guys know anything about orange theory but it ain't cheap okay i'm gonna start there it ain't cheap it's not a cheap membership to be unlimited well really like none of these like none of these places are and so that's per part of the commitment comes in into it's like listen if you are dedicating not just your time but like your money to this you've got to kind of be like
00:16:37
Speaker
In it um And that's like like when I when I joined, I immediately did the like a certain um like monthly, like a certain number of classes per month and just like it signed on. I'm like, you know, i'm not going to do like a little package of like, oh, here, try three or try like do whatever it is like, I'm going go in, I'm going to because it's something want to do for myself. And you're right, it is intimidating.
00:17:00
Speaker
because I started right after Charlie and it is intimidating, right? Because your body is so like, unless you worked out all through pregnancy and you're able to like pick it right back up, which is amazing if you did like

Post-Pregnancy Fitness Challenges

00:17:11
Speaker
kudos. But if you didn't, it's hard to go into a setting with people who are like already like,
00:17:17
Speaker
They know the drill. They know what to do. They know like XYZ when they walk in that room. It's hard to go in there and like pick up your weights and try to stay on like track. And, you know, if you're trying to like keep up with someone who's doing like rep after rep after rep then like running on the treadmill and doing all this stuff, like it's not realistic. i think that's like one of those things you have to kind of like go into it slowly and go at your own pace. Yeah.
00:17:41
Speaker
And realize that, like, nobody is really want like nobody money is like watching you, like, what you're doing, right? Like, nobody cares. They are caring about themselves. Like, no thought in that class goes through my mind other than, like, counting, like, a rep if we have to do a certain number or, like, making sure my form is right or, like, no, like, that is my me time, right? Yeah.
00:18:05
Speaker
It started as a like, let me get back in shape. Let me feel good to like the time that I have at the gym is so like just everything else is out of my brain. Literally everything else is out of my brain. And I get to focus on just kind of like being a healthier me for like classes are 50 minutes. I can have 50 minutes to myself for me and everyone can, everyone can.
00:18:29
Speaker
Yeah, no, I agree. It just, it takes that first step to do that. And like, I would have never in a million years, consider myself as an almost 36 year old, a gym rat. And there is, i let me be the person tell you, cause like Annie mentioned, you know, if, if you have gone to the gym while pregnant, you're Good for you. Like I just told you, I went to one class. I was 12 weeks pregnant with Beckett. I went to one class. I I was going to die. You guys, like I was like, I can't do orange theorem while pregnant. So when I had Avery, I went, I went, I told myself I will not give up on the gym because I started a routine and I did. I went while pregnant with Avery all the way up to maybe like, I think three weeks before delivery. Yeah. Did I have to slow down? Yeah. Did my weights diminish? Yeah. Did I have to do a bunch of, um, alternate exercises that were safer for me. Yes. But I kept my body moving. And I think that had a lot of help with my men, mental state, um, of pregnancy postpartum. It helped so much with my delivery. I feel like my delivery was easy breezy. My recovery was easy breezy. Um, you know, maybe not so much mentally, if you go back and listen to a couple, seasons stuff back, you'll remember, I definitely had some postpartum depression and anxiety, but, but it helped. And it just, it, it takes you to a point where
00:19:52
Speaker
you will find that point where it stops feeling forced. And it's just, you you're like, I have to go. Like I used to just, I was the three days a week. I think I can just handle, I can do three days a week, twice during the week, once on a weekend. If I don't get a weekend, I'll get it during the week. You guys, I go four to five times a week now. That is part of my Everyday life. I love going. i love seeing the same community there. My coaches know me now. So it's like they know that I can do they know when I'm being lazy. Okay. That's why I pay the the price that I pay because I need them it continue to push me to my next level. Like, yeah.
00:20:34
Speaker
Hold you accountable. Yes. It clicks, but they know that it clicks and they give me what I need to do to be able to continue to do it. But there does come that point. But again, like as a mom and i just think as a female in general, like I don't want to label the gym being like a blue thing, you know, like boys and gym rats and blah, blah. But like, it's very intimidating as a girl, especially a mom.
00:21:00
Speaker
Yeah, it is. It's very intimidating. And then when you think about it, like when the kids are involved, it's and you have like, we're like, there's so many factors to it, right, that you have to kind of plan around. And you can't let that be an excuse. So for me, working out in the morning is better anyways, because I can't fathom working all day and doing all these things and going to the gym.
00:21:24
Speaker
and like working out at night. Like I just, I can't. And honestly, the latest class at Barry's is like five something. And I'm like, that's in the middle of like when like the chaos is happening in our home. So I have to do the early morning.
00:21:36
Speaker
But again, i I just can't imagine like after a long day of work, lacing up my shoes at like four or five o'clock and going to the gym. But sometimes that's when people like, people blow off the steam from their day, right? Like that people are completely different, but you have to plan. Like you can't,
00:21:52
Speaker
make an excuse because there is somewhere that will have a schedule that you can make work for you. Now, are you going to have to get up at the crack of dawn or you to have to go to when the kids are in bed, your husband's home with them? Like maybe they're like, they go to sleep and you go to the gym. Like great. Like something will work for you. And again, that's one of the reasons that I picked berries because they had one of the earliest start times for classes down like here. I could not go any later. Like most things started when I was looking 530.
00:22:22
Speaker
or six and they, their first class is at five, 10. Like I can't go any later than like a five 30 or a six to be able to do my class, get home, get showered, get ready and get the kids up. Like it just didn't make sense for me.

Camaraderie in Gym Classes

00:22:34
Speaker
And now that's like a normal for me. Right. So like, You find what works for you. And then when you find those time slots where that's like your kind of your spot, you start to like make those friends because they're also doing those same things. Like a lot of the women in my class at 5'10", like they're also moms or they're teachers and they're doing the same thing. They're making it work for them and they're going in. and getting their shit done, getting their workout in for the day and truly like starting their day.
00:23:03
Speaker
um and I love that. Like i love seeing a familiar face and you get there. Like I walked in the first time and I was like, oh my god But now I'm at the point where I know so many people walking in and it's so refreshing and it's it's a wonderful feeling. Yeah. It's the gym clicks, right? Like, but it's almost like different when you join one of these like group fitness, if you will, or like high intensity, because I think we're all one click.
00:23:29
Speaker
Yes. You are. You probably have like here, you know, one or two people you're closer with and you just get drawn to them first to discuss things. But like everyone knows everybody. Like I can tell you, like I've picked up like a heavier weight and someone who would come up to me like, Oh, we're overachieving. Like they see it, right. They see your progress. They're rooting for you just as much as you're rooting for yourself. So I love that because that is so true. Like I really think that is such a like the gym clicks are different because it, again, i can say this a thousand different ways, but it it is so intimidating. And it took me a very long time to get the discipline that I have. So it takes two weeks to create a habit. Just always remind yourself of that.
00:24:12
Speaker
If you can get past two weeks, you will have this sense of routine of like increased confidence, your time management. You'll know when, like Annie mentioned, like You will know what will work for you. You will find what will work for you. um and you're just going to have like a stronger routine of life, like for yourself or, now I will say, i will say this.
00:24:37
Speaker
I also do early gym workouts, not five. mine's Mine's a little mines little later at 6.15, but um I woke up at 5.30. Does that count? Anyways. ah I've already been up for an hour, but yeah, it counts. Yeah, right. Yeah, for real. Listen, I used to be part of that 5 a.m. crew, man. It's tough. It's tough out there. It's tough.
00:24:58
Speaker
um I'm happy to have hung that hat up, but But that's what I was. I was a nurse and like the teachers, my classes were full of nurses and teachers and moms because that is what worked. Like I would wake up even earlier because it was postpartum with Avery. Like, and I would pump and then go or like feed. And then like the things we do, you guys, the things that we do, superheroes, like we just, yeah.
00:25:23
Speaker
Yeah. we're We're kind of animals. We're kind of animals. The best kind of animal. lets you might the best the best The best kind of animals. But I will say one of the best, I think what kind of changed it for me was I started showering after at the gym. Well, doesn't help. That doesn't hurt that like fairies has like the Dyson hair dryer. They carry all like whey products, all these products that you like, you're like, Ooh, I'm going to use that instead of my like, whatever I have at home. Um, and I started to shower after working out and I was meeting people because in the showers, yeah show love no, let me try. Yeah.
00:26:01
Speaker
The way that I wear Nice rack. Yeah. Nice rack, cutie. Looking great. That's 20 pounds. We're really working for you. No, I was meaning because you you shower, obviously, then you get dressed and you're like blow-drying your hair or you're washing your face or like whatever.
00:26:18
Speaker
and you're just kind of like Just a quick like conversation or something. Right. Or like someone's having conversation and you like jump in and it is the best way to meet people. And also, and this sounds so silly whenever I bring Aubrey, she's like, mom, please stop.
00:26:34
Speaker
But whenever like, so we usually go like floor, treadmill, floor, treadmill is typically how like a various class works. um You can do different iterations, but the class typically goes that tread or floor, tread, floor, tread or tread, floor, tread, floor however. And most of the time when I get off of when the the we're switching and I get off the tread, I like fist bump people next to me. They said, good job, good job. yeah And like slowly you're just...
00:26:58
Speaker
You're not, I'm not having a conversation. I don't really typically want to have a conversation in the middle of going back and forth, but like just a quick little good job. You guys have no idea. Cause then that turns into like a see you later or like a, Hey, like when you're grabbing your stuff out of the lockers, right? Like I'm not someone who's just going to go introduce myself to people like, Hey, I'm Annie. Like we do this class together. Like, no, yeah but like,
00:27:22
Speaker
I am going to find ways to like have that friendly face. And I, I'm, so now I, I am, I am there. But again, like we said in the beginning, like originally, like I knew, I knew one person walking into these um classes. So it's hard.
00:27:38
Speaker
it's It's hard, but yeah but I agree with you. We do that. We do that too. And it's like, and people notice, right? Like I know we were saying like no one's looking or paying attention, but people do see your progress and do see when you push yourself a little harder. Like I've seen people compliment me because, you know, my, my, we call it a base pace, like, which is the, what you can run at for miles. And I've gotten higher every time. And people have noticed, like, oh, I noticed that your base is that's awesome. Like, good for you. Like, your stamina is building. Like, like there's something so powerful about the gym
00:28:11
Speaker
rat click or whatever you want to call it because just those words of encouragement makes you want to push harder. Right. And maybe that's just what you needed. Maybe you've never had that mental, like internal voice of a push within yourself, but then someone recognizing you having that or telling you good job or like, Oh wow. I saw you run your highest today. That was so good. Or I saw you pick up a heavier weight, even though if you did two reps ah out of it, you still picked it up. Like, yeah People recognizing you, like there's no better feeling because then it's like, you know what? I am doing a fucking good job and I am going to keep improving myself. um
00:28:48
Speaker
The worst though, don't know how does it vary. Oh God. It's when you make eye contact with a coach oh and they know you ain't doing your best. Yeah. when oh yeah well Let me tell you. There are some days that I am tired. Okay. I am tired. it is my fifth day in a row and I've maxed out my running and you want me to go on an incline?
00:29:13
Speaker
Yeah. The hell you do? Like, no. Yeah. And I'm not kidding you. Again, I don't know how to do it at various, but because I'm a regular, he will literally stand behind me and stare at me and be like, that's not your, that's not your, that's not your number. What are you doing? And I'm like, I literally say it, but I'm like, I'm tired.
00:29:30
Speaker
And I don't Yeah. yeah And that is why I pay what I pay because that is what I need because I have learned that I don't do well on my own. I need someone to yell at me and be like, I've seen you do better. Yeah. You need, only to intimidateating you you need the push. Well, those trainers, those trainers will be able to like read you, right? Like if you're someone who like, like they're not just going to pinpoint you from day one. My favorite girl that I go to at Barry's, she will, she won't do that to me, but because she knows that I have like it, like I have, like

Role of Trainers in Fitness

00:30:07
Speaker
we talked about, i have body, like I have issues with like, if I'm not running,
00:30:11
Speaker
It's for a reason. Like my hip isn't feeling good. My back, something's not right. Like if I'm walking on incline, like I'm, you know, some something's not going on. So she's, yeah. So she's never going to push me. But like when she sees me like on a good day, if I'm like hauling ass, she'll like call it out. Right. So um yeah those trainers can be the biggest motivators and they can also be the people that you go to when it's like,
00:30:34
Speaker
hey, like I'm, I'm new here. um i just like, I may not know some of the stuff that you call out. Like I may not know this or that, or they are the best when it comes to like, again, if something's going on, I'm like, hey, I feel like kind of off my lower back. If there's anything that we're going to be doing for XYZ today, like give me an alternative to do Like, it's just like, and if your place doesn't do that, maybe look elsewhere, right? Like you're going to find somewhere that supports you all literally every single aspect of what you're, what you're trying to cheat to achieve. Because ultimately, like, again, we all, like, everybody works out, right? Like, men, women, moms, dads, not moms, not dads, everyone, like, you know, like, a lot of people work out. But the benefits of walking out of that
00:31:24
Speaker
gym, that class, that yoga session, whatever, are so immense for, and I know we already touched on it a little bit, but like mental, physical, emotional, like literally all levels. It bleeds into your work. It bleeds into your home life. It bleeds into your social life. Like it is just And I think that's the thing too, is like, once you go for such a long time, you start to see those things and you're like, oh man, this feels good. And I've said this for years and years and years and years and years.
00:31:55
Speaker
I have never left, I've never left a workout and regretted that I worked out. Like I've never, I mean, now unless like, I like, i don't know, like fell on the treadmill or like, I don't know, dropped a dumbbell on my toe. Sure. Maybe I'd regret that. But like, I've never regretted going to a workout. Yeah.
00:32:16
Speaker
Ever. Right. Like I've only been like, damn, I'm so glad I did that. Like even when I really didn't want to wake up or I didn't want to do this after this or whatever it is, i I've never regretted it. Yeah.
00:32:27
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, don't get me wrong. I, I hate having to go I despise having to put my socks on early, but I love the feeling of leaving because it's just so satisfying. And it's like the things that you mentioned, those are all right. Unexpected, unexpected benefits that we get, right? Like it just, it's in one of the biggest things, because at the end of the day, this is why mom, when we do to discuss about the motherhood side of things, but you're modeling such a healthy behavior in front of your child. Like, my kids both will be Oh, you going to do your exercises?
00:32:58
Speaker
And they're like, me too. I'm going to my exercises. and I'm like, I love that. I was like, I want to, and I tell them I go to do my exercises. Cause I want to be strong like you. And Avery will like show me her muscles. And she's like, yeah, like it excites them. So like, yeah, yeahre at the end of the day,
00:33:12
Speaker
You're bettering yourself. And there's something that's going around right now. It's um it's like one of those reels or TikToks or whatever you want to call them. That sticks with me. And anytime that I have to run faster, i think of this. And maybe it'll help you as a mom to motivate you too. But it basically is women working out. And the caption says, if you had to chase your kid to save their life, would you get there in time?
00:33:37
Speaker
and nothing hits me harder than thinking of that. And so when I'm on that treadmill and they're like, and I i think I'm so tired, am gassed out, but they're like, all right, we're going to like a one minute all out.
00:33:51
Speaker
I think of that and nothing motivates me more than to try it because I'm like, what i can I can go faster because if if that is my child that needs my help, I will run as fast as I i possibly can. And I can, yeah and I do. it, and it And it's just one minute and you can do anything for one minute.
00:34:07
Speaker
You can do anything for 30 seconds. You know, that's, it's literally written all over the wall in Orange Series. You can do anything in 30 seconds, right? Like they always count that out on the mic. They're like, you can do anything.
00:34:18
Speaker
that's all That's how you have to look at it going into these, right? Like as you go through and you're walking into these classes or even into the gym, right? Like not even a class, you're walking into the gym and say, okay, I'm going to do five machines. Okay, great. you can do five machines in 30 minutes on the treadmill or 30 minutes on the elliptical, whatever it is, like five machines. Okay. Do your reps. Oh, four machines left. Like you have to, you can do, like you break it down into like whatever those increments are that work for you. Again, to your point, when you're feeling like you're I'm done, it's like I've got a i got a minute left. Like I can do literally anything for um for minute. And it's a great point. You're really showing your kids how to I mean a million of things, but how to be strong, how to show up, how to not quit, like how to take care of your body. Like it's such an example to them. Like if I'm in the shower when the kids get up, so they're up early and it's like
00:35:09
Speaker
6.30, 6.45 and they come in and I'm in the shower like, oh, did you work out? Like they know like if I'm up super early and I'm already like jumping in the shower, they know that I've gone and worked out. Like they know that that is part of my my routine. And again, it's just a healthy thing for them to see like that you're taking care of yourself and ultimately we're taking care of ourselves so that we can then take care of them hopefully for, you know, a very long time to come.
00:35:34
Speaker
Forever never. um But yeah, like we I think there's and we talk about like a lot of things about, you know, me and Annie constantly mention us going to the gym. And that's not just because we're bragging. It's because we are trying to stay committed to keeping the routine. And I think we've both kind of become regulars our own places. So there's kind of I guess I just kind of want to like mention like that's A good takeaway from this is there's no right way to belong to a gym.
00:36:02
Speaker
Okay. um The gym can look very different for everybody and everybody's capability. But what you can do is focus on your personal growth to constantly improve yourself, right? So even if the gym to you right now is just taking a mile walk outside your house around the neighborhood, you will notice that one day that one mile is going to turn to two and then it may turn to a light jog and then

Personalizing Fitness Routines

00:36:30
Speaker
you're full on running. And next thing you know, you're signing up for high rocks, you know, like so it's just, I was going to say the gym could be the inside of your home, right? The gym could be, getting a tonal machine. The gym could be getting the Peloton app, getting a Peloton. Like the gym can be a lot of things. um I have just found, I know that you have found there's like a social aspect and a group aspect that is so motivating and welcoming. So, but you, again, you'll find what really like works for
00:37:00
Speaker
you and you know, a lot of the reason that we also go to the gym is because If you guys don't know, we drink wine every week on this podcast.
00:37:12
Speaker
So, and wine does of routine wine does have calories that we have to also work off. and you know it's yeah i agree i mean A little liquid diet part, part of our liquid diet.
00:37:27
Speaker
Yeah. This is part of the 80-20 rule, right? Like 80% of the time you eat clean and then you have the 20% where you can indulge because you are an exercise girly and you have that extra cushion.
00:37:41
Speaker
You're an exercise girly so you can wine with us when we have our little wine of the weeks. um Are we ready to chat about this wine? Yes, I think so.
00:37:52
Speaker
Okay. Okay. how I mean, I think I have like a maybe like 1.5 of a sip left. Okay. Because and like it's it's a nice little wine for conversation, I think. Like a slow sipper, slow sipper type of yeah conversational wine.
00:38:10
Speaker
How are you feeling about it over there? I'm feeling really good about it, honestly. And it's surprising me. Now I want to go back and look at the Chardonnay that we liked so much. And I'd love to compare... The two.
00:38:24
Speaker
i also, you know, when we were talking about um with one of the Sauvignon Blancs we had, we were talking about the frozen mangoes. Yes. I was thinking the same thing.
00:38:35
Speaker
I'm like a frozen. The mango in this, think. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Or even like cubed. I mean, this, never mind. I'm going to retract what I was going say because I was thinking it might get a little gross. But I was going to say the apple, like app like cubed apple pieces. And I think it would be like get kind of- Maybe like frozen apple.
00:38:53
Speaker
yeah because then i feel like it would get a little mushy and get like applesaucey if you didn't drink it quick enough and that freaked me out thank my no because look think of like a sangria like it doesn't get mushy it's just oh that's true yes so like a frozen like chopped up apple instead of like and then and then it's gonna keep it like cold longer right because it's kind of taking the um ice cube out of it if you will Yeah, that would be good.
00:39:20
Speaker
I think we're on to something. So Argyle, don't take our idea. but but we understand why you did win now. We get it. Now I want to try a sparkling wine and a Pinot and see see what that's all about. What's the rage? What's happening?
00:39:40
Speaker
I'm struggling to to nail it down this for you. Do you? Yeah. think I think I... am I'm fairly confident with mine. Yeah. Okay. we have it because Again, I think this is a great conversational wine. I think it's a a good like sit down, like like ah maybe like a dinner that you're just slowly sipping Okay, let's be honest. All wines like you slowly sip on, but like this one is just like and don't know it's just very differently
00:40:13
Speaker
flavored Yeah. Yeah. For me. So I, you know. Color impressed. I think I'm also, i think I'm also ready.
00:40:25
Speaker
right. Who went first, last time? I don't remember. I don't remember. Honestly. I don't remember. i know I started trying to keep track and then I was like, who am I getting? All right. Well, you were hesitant about yours. So now I'm curious about what yours was and if it's close to mine. Because typically it is, but. It typically is. You were kind of hesitant. So I have a feeling may not be.
00:40:45
Speaker
the same corking the sound i'm gonna give this a 7.9 7.9 okay that that's higher than mine so mine was a seven six okay okay okay i was hesitant because i was like am i going over the eight threshold then i was like no no um but i'm i'm happy with a seven nine Yeah. No, i think I think anywhere between a 7.5 and an 8 was a good threshold for this wine. That's why I went 7.6 because I felt like a little bit on the lower end. but i love that threshold literally yeah um
00:41:22
Speaker
But the reason why I did that is because i think I would still choose other wines over this one. sure So that's the only reason why. Because otherwise I i do i would have dabbled maybe in 7.7. Maybe I would have met in the middle.
00:41:37
Speaker
ae I mean, but it's so, it's good. Like again, for Chardonnay, like I'm not knocking this at all. I think it's very, very good option. I completely see why they won. um And I think it if you like Chardonnay, I think this is an excellent one for you to try and maybe try it with some frozen apples, but make sure you love what how it is.
00:41:56
Speaker
Yeah. You heard it here first and make sure that if you are trying this, always tag us on Instagram. And if you're trying with apples, definitely tag us on Instagram because we, we gave you the idea. um so you have to credit us, you know, you guys and just give credit where it was credits due,
00:42:13
Speaker
um which just and, and then get in the gym the next morning and hopefully you didn't drink a whole bottle of this, but get in the gym the next morning, become a little gym rat and hopefully, yeah, join us. Come, come. What's that? that that you know then Yeah, mini-me. We said, come, come, come with us. Come join us. No, but seriously, like if if if you needed that extra push or extra like telling of like, you know, you've been dabbling about the idea or the thought, you're two people who probably never thought they would be in this position today of becoming regulars at a gym and knowing they feel like crap by not by missing a day um let this be your sign like you will find your groove and and don't just go to one and then be like oh i guess this will do no like go hop like most of all these places give you like even gyms they'll give you like a free week pass and then you can try their classes maybe that's more of your feel um you know they'll give you a free day like they have so and they want you to go try their stuff you know yeah Um, or maybe you're looking for one that has childcare. So, so like, you know, for orange cereal does not offer childcare. So I don't know about berries, but we don't have childcare there. So, If that's something important to you, like go, you know how people doctor shop, go gym shop, go gym shop, find what's gonna work for you. um And just like remind yourself to focus on consistency over comparison. Like don't compare yourself to other people that are there. um
00:43:51
Speaker
Focus on you and your growth and your journey. i i literally cannot stand that word. I don't know why. Focus on your journey. know, let this be your journey. But no, for real though, like let this be your mindset. Okay. Like change your mindset of what the gym is to you because I know a lot of people despise the gym and

Maintaining Fitness on Vacation

00:44:11
Speaker
hate the gym. And you know what? If that's you and you think you've got a hot bod and you can eat and your metabolism ain't going to catch up, it will.
00:44:19
Speaker
It will. Just wait. Just wait. Wait until you turn 35 or 36. Yeah, wait until you turn 36 and your knee starts clicking. Listen, when you go on vacation and you pack clothes to go to the gym, like the hotel gym, or like go for a run around your block, that's when you know you're like...
00:44:38
Speaker
Go me. i mean it Like be proud of yourself for doing something like that. And that's all I will say to that. When I start noticing that I'm like, oh, I need to pack my tennis shoes. I need to pack my like workout top and leggings.
00:44:49
Speaker
That's like a a self high five. And yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We can do it. If we can, again, if we can do ale man's and all you can do it too. Body body issues at all? Body issues at all. Not body image. Let's clarify again, just for those who may be having a skip in the sound or something.
00:45:15
Speaker
but um Body issues, just body issues. I guess it's ailments which should have been the better word, right? Isn't it called ailments? Like when you like your body hurts? let' Decrease in metabolism, okay? Yes.
00:45:28
Speaker
Aging. I don't want to say aging because I just... It's just injuries. It's it's injuries. i'm good tell but It's just injuries. It's just injuries from twerking and dancing too hard at the clubs back where there was no social media. And, you know, we posted our camera shots the next day on Facebook albums. But um despite all that, again, if you were looking for your sign...

Encouragement for Exploring Fitness Options

00:45:50
Speaker
this is your sign. Take it, run with it, go explore, find that mental self-worth happiness at a gym like we have found. And we just felt like we had to chat about this because we bring it up all the time. And now you have a full on episode on how we became gym rats and why it's important to us and why we're going to keep doing it. And you're probably still going hear us talk about it because we're very passionate about it now. So um when you guys see us on high rocks, make sure to cheer for us and send us all the professional pictures.
00:46:20
Speaker
Jamina is trying to bully me into this. I am not doing it again. My injuries will not allow, but I will be there cheering. Whoever's doing the Tampa high rocks, I will be there cheering you on loud and proud. I think i already have like three signs I'm to have to make for different people doing it. So, you know, I'll be there to support.
00:46:38
Speaker
Um, yeah, I haven't fully committed yet because I was humbled. I took a high rocks class this week and I constantly get humbled when I was motivated to do the high rocks. I just want to point out I had missed that week of high rocks. And today or this week I took it and I was humbled quickly of, I'm like, I don't know if I'll survive it. So anyways, just pointed out, you may see me, you may not, maybe I'll hold, I'll come home fine with you.
00:47:04
Speaker
you know, But I will point out quickly before we end this, single ladies, this is where you find your man, okay? Like go go to a gym. Go socialize with the men at the gym.
00:47:16
Speaker
i bet you you're going to find someone there that's decent. I mean don't go straight for like the steroid looking people, like the pumps. Like go for someone who actually looks like they're dedicating their time to this. But listen, this needs to be like a reality show, like women the gym or something like that. i would love to see that.
00:47:33
Speaker
Could you imagine? Yeah, I would love that. But anyways, with that being said, that's a wrap. That's our show. That's all the gym mama tea we have for today. Thank you so much for listening. Don't forget to rate reviews on whatever platform you're listening on. As always, tell all your friends and keep on whining.
00:47:51
Speaker
Cheers.
