It is also my go-to, but I will tell you that the prices on those things have been going through the roof. It's kind of crazy how expensive they are these days. but Especially if they're on Bobby's receipt from Publix. Yes.

All right, JP back for another Georgia preview. Uh, we got Tennessee tech rolling into Athens this weekend. Yup. At least we don't have a nooner. It's a tour.
00:01:05
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. That sounds weird, but yeah. Definitely in an odd time. I guess comes with

Game Time Discussions and Family Plans

00:01:15
Speaker
the new TV contract stuff, maybe? I don't know. Yeah, I'm I mean, I consider it a win because I'm I'm of the opinion that it should be a federal crime punishable by death for Newton games. So there's that's how I feel about new nurse.
00:01:34
Speaker
I mean, yeah, it was early. I will say that for for Clemson, especially being neutral site. But although I guess for the people of Atlanta, not a big deal, but yeah, I agree. I knew it was too early. As I've said, I love the three thirty two is fairly close. I mean, I think it's a good, good start time. Twelve is so hot to like, you know, so yeah.
00:01:59
Speaker
I mean, I don't know that two o'clock can be doing us any favors in that regard. Although I did look there, sneak at the weather, and it looked like the high was 75. There we go. As of today. So that's ah that's ah that's a good thing. um Looks like we're about to go on a downward trend for the the temperatures here and in Marietta anyway. So we'll see. We'll see. um hopefully Hopefully that it's going to be a ah very nice, perfect fall afternoon.
00:02:26
Speaker
um And it won't be another false fall situation. but Yeah. Yeah, seriously. Uh, yeah, I mean, I don't know. I, the only, the only false fall thing I like is like that day when it's like late summer before football starts. And there's that day where like you walk out of your front porch, you feel the crisp air and you're like, ah.
00:02:47
Speaker
You like football was coming. I was like, so I always like that feeling. But yeah, then it is brutal when it goes back to being insanely hot, like it has been. So, yeah, for real. Agreed. Well, I know I will say I am. I'm not going to make it ah down for this game. um We are moving Ella in to college on Thursday, so we'll be in Savannah.
00:03:13
Speaker
Um, Wednesday and Thursday. Uh, it's just a lot, a lot to turn around and then go back to Athens. Um, family gonna be there yeah, I don't know who all is going for sure. Um, but I know my sister and niece are going, um, I haven't heard confirmation on, uh, my parents yet. I'm not sure, not a hundred percent sure, but there is the, uh, it's being discussed in the family text thread. I'll tell you that.
00:03:43
Speaker
I kicked off the conversation that ah that we weren't going to be able to make it. So it it's still being discussed. Hopefully, uh, hopefully I'll get a chance to see, see your parents. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. but'll I'll let you know. I'll keep you posted. So cause we will be sitting fairly close by. Oh, that's right. That's right. Very cool. Very cool. And so, um, can we talk about this? this you It's you and Carter, right? Okay. Yes. Uh, so it's, it's birthday weekend, um, for me. And then, so normally we were playing South Carolina ish.
00:04:16
Speaker
no In the recent years, it's been these you know cupcakes, but... ah um My daughter asked, I had asked her if she wanted to go to this game. um She already had plans with her friends as much as the teenagers do. um So anyway, I covered my bases made and made sure I wanted to go with her, but I knew that Carter was going to be upset if if I ended up going with her regardless. so
00:04:47
Speaker
Right. She gets to do what she wants to do and Carter gets to come with me. So I think it'll work out. I think it'll work out just fine. Cool. Nice. Sorry. I had to ask cause like, uh, I'm definitely one to be like, I spoil things for Carter on accident. So I had to make sure we were clear. I appreciate, I appreciate the, uh, the note because I do tend to, um, hold things back from him because then it just, it's just this nonstop. It's like a, it's like a dog with a bone.
00:05:17
Speaker
Can I bring a friend? What's up? What are we gonna do? Well, at least at least he's a D he's a DAWG with bone. Yes, we get we give him dog bones. Anyways, sorry. ah Yeah, no, that's cool. That's cool. Well, I hope you all have a blast. um May there be little Italy in your future.
00:05:35
Speaker
There it will absolutely be like I said, it's birthday weekend. So it's going to be ah it's definitely going to be on on my birthday menu. Sweet. Awesome. Go in. All right. ah Why don't we we can run down the match up. So, as we mentioned, kickoff is at 2 o'clock on Saturday. ah Duly field, at Sanford stadium.
00:05:56
Speaker
Dogs come in at 1 and 0, Tennessee Tech coming in 0 and 1 from the OVC, the Ohio Valley Conference, I believe. Tennessee Tech is an FCS school, ah which we used to call 1AA. Dogs are still number 1 and everything. The game technically is not on TV. um So if you're not going, you can watch it.

Game Streaming and History Insights

00:06:16
Speaker
You can stream it. It's on SEC Network Plus and yeah ESPN Plus.
00:06:21
Speaker
ah with the commentators are going to be J. Alter, Rocky Bolman, and Ashley Strohlein. Not familiar with the folks, but I'm sureer sure they'll do a great job. um We do have an actual official hashtag. The official hashtag is hashtag ENTC versus UGA. So be sure to use that as you're tweeting throughout the game.
00:06:42
Speaker
um It's the all-time we have played these guys before. um So this will be the third reading between Georgia and Tennessee Tech. We lead the all-time series 2-0. Last time we played them was 2009. We beat them 38-0 between the edges.
00:06:57
Speaker
Um, and like you said, looks like a nice day, highest 75. Uh, so hopefully the, the weather is, uh, is good, good and kind to those who are attending in person. Um, yeah, like you said, Tennessee tech golden Eagles. I don't know. Uh, are we going into hasty's heart grit or do you have, uh, do we think we can cover off on a couple of fun facts, not a whole, whole lot that, uh, from JP's fun facts for.
00:07:25
Speaker
for this particular game. They are, um like you said, the Tennessee Tech's Golden Pantry Eagles. um i that's I think Dwight was the one that that started saying that. that that yeah that's That's such an amazing... Such an amazing moniker. absolutely um They have a mascot. His name is Awesome Eagle. He's a beloved mascot from Tennessee Tech. um I guess that they had a couple of different name changes and, you know, costumes and whatnot. Like most of these things that start off back in like the 60s and 70s with these, you know, dressed up mascots that look like something that was just complete nightmare fuel for kids.
00:08:11
Speaker
um yeah They have this like strange looking eagle costume from back in the 60s. Yeah, they've got they've got a number of them. Tommy, EvilEagle, TT, Tommy Tech. um there's There's a number of different names that have have gone through.
00:08:31
Speaker
However, the awesome Eagle is, let's see, it looks like he's been around for a while now, um at least since 2014. As far as I can tell there's not a whole lot of details here, as you would imagine on Tennessee's web tennessee tech website, website.
00:08:49
Speaker
um but But anyway, they that's ah that's that's their that's their mascot situation. They also have a, apparently back in the 50s, they had a ah dog that they kind of like, I guess, like a mascot or whatever, not so much like a a legit mascot, but the dog's name was Dammit.
00:09:15
Speaker
I guess that like it used to just like wander around on campus and be like, oh, let's damn it, the dog. Okay. Amazing. Sorry, Carter. I guess that it's here that you'll be hearing, um perhaps, is eagle bait. you know Much like the you know Clemson Tigers probably said tiger bait to us, so it'll be a familiar a familiar familiar chant.
00:09:44
Speaker
Eagle bait is is what they'll be they'll be going with. I always never understand when people say that because like eagle bait is used to catch eagles. Sorry, you can move on, but I just always find that odd. Yeah. um Let's see here. What else do they got going on? um There's a lot of stuff here. and nothing Nothing else that I really particularly want to want to dwell on.
00:10:08
Speaker
um They do have, so they're from, they're from Cookville, ah Tennessee, which is also, so I guess we can get into some, you know, famous, famous alumni ah from from Tennessee Tech. um Okay, so some notable alumni. um I guess if you're a CrossFitter,
00:10:30
Speaker
Rich Froning Jr. is from Tennessee Tech. um I guess he's like, he's like, you know, if you're a CrossFitter person, he's like the fittest man on earth and he's won it like a couple of different times. So some CrossFit people may. and straight with that That resonates with Shoemaker.
00:10:47
Speaker
I'm not sure. Yes, sure. you You may, you may know who we're talking about country singer Rodney Atkins. Okay. Kind of famous early 2000s country artists. Let's see here. Another name that I saw and had to like, I kept coming back to it. Like what in the world? Where where do I know this guy from? Derek Rogers? Does that i know ring a bell? It does. Yes.
00:11:13
Speaker
So I guess that he is from Tennessee tech, but also played at Tennessee. Oh, okay. Got it. So I believe it wasn't, wasn't Derek Rogers, like one of the writers, the receivers that caught like that bomb, like the the Hail Mary catch and he was for Tennessee against Georgia and Sanford singing. Like they had had a Hail Mary pass back in, was it like 2013? That was in, no, that was Kirby's first year. That was 16.
00:11:40
Speaker
16. Okay. No, that wasn't him. I thought it was him. I just remember, I remember the name. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I definitely remember that name. Yeah. He, I just pulled up. yeah He played in the NFL for a bit. So yeah, but I probably remember from Tennessee. I think you're right. Um, and then, uh, finally, uh, before, you know, not too many other, I mean, sure, there's, there's a couple of people here and there, but like the biggest, the biggest alumni is Andy Landers. Oh, nice. Okay. Andy Landers, uh, was a, um, alumni of Tennessee Tech.
00:12:10
Speaker
Famous Georgia women's basketball coach from 1979 to 2015. Yeah, man. PGD legend. Yes. Legend, legend of the universities. So, um, hopefully he won't be too torn on allegiance. Nice. Yeah. I'm sure he'll be rooting for the dogs. He'll be rooting for the dogs.
00:12:31
Speaker
Yeah, so other than that, you know, not a whole lot. ah Oh, one other thing that I didn't want to mention, because I thought it was funny, given the context of what we were talking about with the Florida head coach. um Billy Napier is actually from Cookville, um which is the city that Tennessee Tech is is in. So there's another Florida connection um to this game. um But I thought that that was interesting.
00:12:56
Speaker
JG Redick is also from, JG Redick is also from Cookville. They didn't go to Tennessee Tech, but right broco from Cookville. um Not a whole lot of notes around the area. um The university is pretty much one of the largest employers in the city. um the I think one of like one of the questions that we got was like, what exactly are they technical for? And basically it's just like the general,
00:13:24
Speaker
a general tech program. They've got computer science and engineering, that kind of thing. Yeah, that was a Herman Wood. He had asked that. I had to read that question twice to understand what he was asking because he said, like, what tech does Tennessee tech? And then I was like, oh, I think that's what he was asking.
00:13:40
Speaker
i liked I like the wording, once I realize what you say. Yeah, but yeah, that's that's ah that's C-TECH. Got it. Cool, man. I know we've got some ah some stuff from from our our buddy ah Jason Hasty ah for Hasty's Hard Read History. We do. I read last week. You want to read this week?
00:14:00
Speaker
Sure, I can do that. Okay, is man um okay so Jason said this week I'd like to do something that I'm calling hasty's hard grit historical mysteries. So he had another a new even newer segment. ah from g We still need to work on his intro music.
00:14:18
Speaker
We do. I will say Brett, I think Brett had suggested maybe the new SEC on CBS music, um which makes me depressed or SEC on ABC. Sorry. Yeah. Which like they should have just used that. I i will say, OK, sorry. Sorry, Jason. We're going to go off the rails very briefly.
00:14:37
Speaker
In the season preview, John Smith asked, I wonder if yeah ESPN has some old theme song that we've forgotten about and maybe they'll use that. And it's like, that's basically what they did. They grabbed the college football football theme song from like the late nineties or early two thousands. But instead of just using it, they tried to modernize it and update it. They should, if they had just used that song, everyone would have been like, yeah. Oh, well, probably not. and Not everyone, but some people would have been like, oh, nostalgia. Cool. I remember that song, you know, and they changed it. So I don't know. That's what we're going to do. We're going to do what they should have done. We're going to dig up. We're going to dig up some, some of the classic music and that's going to be Jason's corner. Perfect. Perfect. Okay. We'll do that. Yeah.
00:15:17
Speaker
All right, so during World War II, many military units and bases fielded their own sports programs. Most of these teams played intra-service competition, while others played games against colleges. These games weren't exhibitions and counted towards the one-loss records of the teams involved, and they had as many of the military trappings of a regular college game as was possible during a wartime.
00:15:39
Speaker
For football games, marching bands would perform, cheerleaders would cheer, and at least some fans would fill the stadium. In addition, game day programs would be printed. If the games were in a college stadium, the program was likely to be a normal program. But if the game was on a military base, then it could be a simple program or a mimeographed pages stapled together.
00:15:58
Speaker
On October 16, 1943, Georgia played and lost a game against a team from Daniel Field, an airfield near Augusta, Georgia that had been taken over by the U.S. Army Air Corps. The game was played at Richmond Academy's stadium in Augusta. And here we have the mystery.
00:16:14
Speaker
There is no known program for this game. There are ah both here in the library and in the hands of collectors complete collections of all Georgia football's game day programs, going back to the 1910s and even a few examples of programs from before then.
00:16:29
Speaker
We have copies of every home and away game, every bowl game, and even every game played against military teams, except we don't have a program for the game against Daniel field in 1943. And I will say we've got ah some other programs.
00:16:45
Speaker
I think we'll show those in a second. But um I know, John, you had some ah some comments on those. There's definitely some nightmare fuel in the in those programs. Yeah. Yeah. Collectors and fans have searched for decades to find a copy of this program only to come up ah empty handed again and again. I've searched with all the resources available to me and come up empty ah handed for this one single game. We only have questions and not a program. Was it ever printed? Were all copies lost?
00:17:15
Speaker
Is a copy of this program collecting dust in an attic somewhere? Will this mystery ever be solved, or will our historical record always be incomplete? Hopefully through the efforts of Georgia fans, this mystery will one day be solved. So ah listeners, dear listener, if you have any and the insight here, I know Mr. Hastie would definitely appreciate it. Love to add to the collection over at Harvard Library.
00:17:41
Speaker
Knowing Mr. Hacey, I know that he's he's he's very frustrated by this. for For sure. We've we've seen ah how meticulous. Meticulous, yes. Oh, man. So if you're watching on YouTube, I did flash up a couple of programs um from Tennessee Tech, including the one that ah John you felt had a little had a little nightmare fuel. So those are good ones though. Yeah. All right. interesting. I had no idea that they had those things. Again, that's just some of the things that you can request to to to go and see over at at the Hargroat Library.
00:18:16
Speaker
For sure. On that, I will say, you know, we went over there last of fall. What Kentucky game had a great time. um And, uh, you know, our grid library is open. You go in there. Um, they've got a computer, you know, up front where you can look through all the artifacts they have, um, and go through that. Also, I will say this, like last fall, you know, they had the dually exhibit. There is a, uh, Bulldogs, Bulldog bullog Olympians exhibit, uh, is what's going on this fall. So, um, if you're in town, definitely go check it out. Uh, I'm sure Jason's put together another great exhibit. Do you think they have Herschel's singlet from when he was a Bob's letter?
00:18:53
Speaker
I mean, I feel like there's gotta to be something for Martians. Jason, let us know. Let us know. Let us know. Cool. All right, let's see.

Player Injury Updates

00:19:04
Speaker
News and notes. I don't have much. The one thing that I did see, and this I actually saw on the bottom line tonight, um is that Michael Williams has a sprained ankle. um So I know like he went down, took a, I guess was the victim of a illegal block. ah There was a flag thrown on the penalty.
00:19:21
Speaker
Um, I'll save my words about what I thought about the play. Um, but so paid to see that, I know like we heard right after the game Kirby said X-rays were negative, but you know, we'll kind of, I've heard that before. I think it's something like what he said, but so he does have a sprained ankle. Um,
00:19:37
Speaker
So I definitely would not expect to see Mikel this weekend, but sprained ankle is better than some other things that could have been. So hopefully we'll be able to get him back soon. Yeah, it sounds like, um yeah, it sounds like brings in questionable. Mikel questionable. Dylan Bell's available. Aguero. He didn't get the hopeful tag, but I hope they're hoping he can go. They're hoping he can go. OK.
00:20:05
Speaker
um But yeah, that's those. That was the that was the injury report from Kirby's press conference. OK, cool. The only other news where the thing is ah Kirby still will not talk about suspensions. I don't know if you saw in the post game, cles maybe maybe this is the wrong episode to talk about this, but ah Chip Towers asked Kirby in the post game um if the reason Etienne didn't play was due to suspension and would he be back? He was like, we don't talk about suspension, Chip. It was a nice try, though.
00:20:37
Speaker
But that many is like I appreciate the question. appreciate appreciate you appreciate I mean, I have a feeling that this is going to be a song and dance that the two of of them do all season long. Like basically, Chip's going to come out and ask about the suspensions. And just just to get Kirby on record is saying, like, we don't talk about it.
00:20:54
Speaker
Right. from Yeah, that that said, you know, off off the rails. I'm super, I'm super excited about next week's injury report where all 100 and whatever players are listed as questionable.
00:21:09
Speaker
ah Yes. Yes. Add, add to the list of new things in the, in the new, uh, bubble year it is what it's SEC mandated. easy Yeah. Yeah. In injury reports for conference games or availability reports VM. So yeah, everyone's going to be questionable. love you What if, what if they, uh, do you think Kirby will mark everyone as hopeful on the injury report? We're hopeful, hopeful, hopeful. He's got a hangnail. but Seriously. Uh, yeah. Uh, it'll be interesting to see. All right. Uh, well, let's see. Tennessee tech is led by, uh, head coach Bobby Wilder. Uh, we'll be coming in to Athens. Um, we said they were Oh, and one of the season, like I said, their FCS, um, their one loss, um, when their only game was against a middle Tennessee state, um, last week.
00:22:06
Speaker
They did only lose by seven. I'll say that. So, you know, they've, they're starting off their season with two FBS games. Um, they lost to middle Tennessee state, um, 32 to 25 at MTSU, um, on Saturday. So then the pretty good, I would say, uh, for them against military state. So.
00:22:26
Speaker
All right, let's get into the match ups. So what we're looking for when the dogs have the ball, um, just a couple of names I'll call out, um, to look for from Tennessee tech, um, on their defense.
00:22:45
Speaker
So they're leading tackler. Well, one game in but leading tackler is a linebacker came in Spalding. He had nine total tackles against Middle Tennessee State and then Aaron Swofford is a linebacker. ah The leader in sacks with one and they did have a pick so they had a defensive back. Kaldra Wilford also had a pick against Middle middle Tennessee State. So just a couple of guys that kind of jumped out off the stat sheet from their first game.
00:23:14
Speaker
Other than that, I feel like for the dogs on offense, we're just looking for what JP get out of the game healthy, get some good reps in. Um, I would like to see the offensive line, push them back in games like this. I feel like sometimes you're kind of like, why can't we just knock them off the ball? We'd like to see that. But other than that, I don't, I don't really have a whole lot of them to say.
00:23:36
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, I think that this is going to be a situation where we are, you know, I just, I just want it healthy. Um, frankly, you know, if anybody has, you know, hopes, of course, and Beck warning the Heisman kind of stuff, you know, get, get his stats and get out of the game as quickly as possible kind of thing. Yeah. Um,
00:23:54
Speaker
I think that this might be a game for, you know, if you care about such things to um have him you know overperform because hes he's I think that he's a little behind schedule from the last week's game. yeah So he would need to kind of step up moving forward if that's something that he wants to have. It was one of one of his stated goals from what I what i heard from news that basically he decided to come back after the SEC Championship loss. um And he wrote down three goals. One was to i think the one was to win the SEC, one was to win the National Championship, one of them was to win the Heisman, and one was to be a first round draft pick. yeah um So I guess that he wrote those three goals down on his front door as he's leaving his his house every every day.
00:24:45
Speaker
um to remind him of what he has in front of him and as his goals. So um if the Heisman trophy is something that he wants, then he's going to need to step it up a little bit more. Sure. um um As far as what I'm looking for, like you said, injuries, be everyone being injury free, I'd like to see fresh rotation. I'd like to get the youth out i like to get the youths out there um as quickly as possible.
00:25:13
Speaker
Um, where we can to make sure we build some depth, uh, particularly at the running back position. Um, and then also just making sure I'd like to see what we have at the wide receiver position, you know, cause we've got a lot of weapons out there that we haven't seen. Anthony Evans is going to, you know, take a step up, you know, that kind of.
00:25:31
Speaker
Yeah, definitely um agreed. I am. yeah well I mean, i I'm assuming we'll get our 1st look at. etien So um we'll we'll see what he looks like out there. I suspect the offense will look a little bit different within there.
00:25:47
Speaker
i'm sure I'm sure Chip will ask Kirby about it. So we'll see we'll see what he says. OK. OK, fair enough. ah Yeah, we've got to watch out for leading receiver London Humphries. Fun fact, second leading rusher for Georgia right now is Dylan Bell, actually, ah from and like an end around. So I bet that was kind of funny. It's also kind of scary. I would say that that's probably something that like to see a little bit more consistency on on offensive and defensive lines. I think I mentioned in the Clemson a review was at times, you know, there I think I texted everybody like the offensive line is getting mauled and then later in the game, the defensive line was getting mauled, but then they got pissed off at me for saying it and then they completely destroyed Clemson the rest of the way. Offensive lines started getting our offensive lines started getting in gear. The joke was, you know, Stacy and I were not on speaking terms after the first quarter, so
00:26:41
Speaker
Um, I'm hoping that Stacy and I can stay friends the rest of the way. So that'll be nice. Yeah. Okay. Okay. I'm good with that. I'm good with that. All right. Let's see as far as what we're looking for with the Georgia defense. Um, so for Tennessee tech, their quarterback is Jordan Potts.
00:27:00
Speaker
Um, like I said, they scored 25 points against, um, against middle Tennessee's date. He was 27 to 38 for 256 yards, three touchdowns, no picks and a 153 quarterback rating. Um, so he pulled out, he had a good game against middle Tennessee. It would be absolutely like such a Clemson thing, uh, for him to come out and throw it, throw for a touchdown when Clemson couldn't do limsing in it. Yeah, I mean, um let me read a lot of names. I'll see Jalen Mitchell is the running back starting running back pattern company is their second leading rusher. DJ Lincoln's is their leading receiver and Ashton maples is their second leading receiver. um That's basically what you just said is what I'm looking for like.
00:27:47
Speaker
What are we going to do here? How are we going to? What is our like what is our mental situation going to be? Are we going to be up for this game? um You know, but I'm sure this is where assume nothing i like does work well to talk to these guys about. But this is all going to be mental. You know, what's your motivation ah to shut these guys down?
00:28:07
Speaker
um And because if they're not mentally there, I mean, it looks like these guys can score some points. Um, so they, they, they need to have it there and not just rest on what they did to Clemson last week. Right. Um, but yeah, man, I, so we mentioned, uh, Jalen Walker in the last episode and and how he looked, um, he is both the leading tackler for the defense so far.
00:28:31
Speaker
Uh, and the leader for sacks with a one and a half sacks and then starts obviously as the one, one int. So yeah, I, I hate that. Um, and he said it was a Brinson, right? Questionable. Um, do hate that, but yeah, let's, let's see what this defensive line looks like. Let's see who rotates in there. Um, what was the, uh, where it was also questionable, right? I would like to see him, but I don't know. I don't know that we will, but there, i I feel like we're going to tend to risk guys that aren't a hundred percent.
00:28:58
Speaker
Yeah. If you're, if you're not a hundred percent, I have a feeling you're going to be riding the pine. Yeah. But we, we did, we, you know, we got, we got a look at one of our highly talented defensive backs, um, and KG Bolden last week. Um, Oh, maybe we'll see some, maybe we'll see Ellis Robinson do something in this one. Um, you know, see another, some, another young pup out there. Yeah. He's another, he's another good example of someone that needs to, um, get some reps for sure. Yeah.
00:29:26
Speaker
Yeah, I don't know. Anything else you're looking for when our defense is out there? I definitely would like to see a little bit more of an impact off off of the off the trenches. Like I said, I mean, the the way that this team is going to go is is how the lines are performing, and I need some and needed them to get it to some consistency on both sides of the ball.
00:29:47
Speaker
Not that I'm too worried about the defense, but you know I'd like to see some man handling it. And as you know from the over unders, I think that everybody wants to see more sacks. And I will basically be smashed in the under every single time until i and proven and until they approve me otherwise.
00:30:09
Speaker
Yeah, no, that makes sense. All right, let's quick special teams run down. So they're Tennessee Tech's kicker is Hayden Olson. He was two for two on extra points um and one for one on field goals in their first game and their punter is Spencer Ashby. ah He put it a lot.
00:30:29
Speaker
I put a lot for puns for 39 yards ish on average. I don't know if he is from Australia or not. I apologize. I did not dig that deep into the roster. Let's assume he is. I like to think he is.
00:30:47
Speaker
Okay. They're all, I like to think they're all from what is, what is, what is Vic VIC for an abbreviation? What is from the ice? He's from, oh, he, I think he is. He's from Geelong, Victoria in Australia. Yeah. as I was about to say Victoria is a, is an area in Australia. and Okay. So it looks like he is from Australia. So good for you, Tennessee tech. Good for you. They've at least figured that out. Well, it's probably going to be good. Right. Right.
00:31:14
Speaker
So okay, cool. Obviously, we talked through our specialists. We we got we got Payday, Thorsen, and um I like to keep fair catching on but on the kickoff returns. So I'm cool with that. Yeah, for sure. I don't think that these guys are going to be returning anything from from Mr. Thorsen. Yeah, yeah. But um I'm cool with that. we and We need that street to just keep on riding. I mean, he's going to ride into the sunset.
00:31:42
Speaker
pretty much what's going to happen. All right. Let's get to the listener questions. We got, we got a bunch of them this week. Um, I think, you know, you, you, you come up a big win off Clemson and, and folks are, uh, are up for the engagement. Um, so listener questions, as always are brought to you by working web media. Uh, so they helped us redesign my got a podcast.com last off season and have really been a big help for us, uh, getting that squared away, um, helping us, you know, get through everything online.
00:32:12
Speaker
um and getting our store set up really as well. So head over to mygottapodcast.com. You can see all the latest merch that we have there. It's way, a lot more items out there. We can have more variety than we had on our old site. ah So if you've got a small business or you need some help with your online presence, head over to workingwebmedia.com slash dogs, and they'll let you know we sent you their way.
00:32:38
Speaker
so J.P., you know, hoping maybe someone's listening and thinking about it. They're going to go. They're going to type into their web browser and go working with media dot com slash D.A.W. G.S. Go check it out. Yes. All right. Tell us your questions. First up, Brett Belding. Belding is two part or T.M. Amazing. Number one, who will get running back touches on Saturday? So thinking other than who we mentioned already,
00:33:08
Speaker
Yeah. Cash. Ethan Branson. Nate. Cash. Who else? We, I believe we'll see. um We did have one other freshman get into the game last week. ah And I'm blanking on which one. Chauncey Bowens. So I think we'll see him um again for sure. Then the question is just, do we Do we get deeper? I'm going to say who I want to see on the field, JP. I don't know this would happen, but I have this like hope that at some point this season, we will see Gannon Hearst. I feel there was some Hearst's Garrison Hearst's son is ah he transferred in this offseason. So if we see him, amazing.
00:33:58
Speaker
Yeah, that would be awesome. And then second question from Brett was, will we see pu pulii as well as Stockton? So I fully expect to see Stockton. I don't, is Pugliese healthy? That's something that I'm not totally into no one. I know like he wasn't able to go in the spring. So I would say if he's healthy to go, then I would expect we'll get into at least.
00:34:19
Speaker
the third quarterback in this game. So I'm going to say, I'm going to say yes, unless there's something injury that I'm, I'm not sure. All right. Dwight wants to know, will the golden pantry Eagles bring enough biscuits for the Morris hall tailgate? If you know, you know, but I feel like there's a, an inside joke there. The only thing, so there was a, there was a reply from Bobby about the sausage as well. So I don't know if this is related at all whatsoever, but there was someone who showed up at the tailgate yeah at Clemson that like was trying to promote their sausage. And apparently Bobby is going to be like in a sausage commercial or something. What?
00:35:00
Speaker
Yes, someone was trying to promote their sausage brand and showed up to the tailgate in the blue lot and took video of them cooking their sausage and eating the sausages. And Bobby apparently was one of the main focal points of it.
00:35:15
Speaker
So that may or may not be related to this, but was the sausage any good that is what i'm I miss it. Like I said, I got there late. Uh, so I can't, I can't cop. I can't go. Got it. All right. Uh, dogs stand forever. Greg from Charlotte. I love the the way this one is framed. Greg from Charlotte, this is a game the dogs will win by 40 plus, but much like UT Martin last year, fans will say we didn't look good, et cetera. What does a good game look like to you all? Who needs to do what for the W to mean more than just an easy W? I'll hang up and listen. What do you think, JP? I'll let you answer this one first.
00:35:50
Speaker
I mean, I think the main thing for me is what I mentioned earlier, like in games like these, I just, I want to see us like push them back and like knock them off the ball. It's like, it's the small things. Like if you've got third and one and being able to run like a simple running play at the middle and get the first down because you blew them off the ball. It, what frustrates me in games like these is when you get into situations like this, when they know you're going to run the ball.
00:36:13
Speaker
And you struggle with it, like we shouldn't struggle with that against a team like this. So I know like that's kind of simple, but to me it's that. Um, and mainly it's just going to be like, what's their focus look like? Cause if they're focused and they're engaged and into this, then we're going to see everything Greg wants to see. I think that, uh,
00:36:31
Speaker
what I want and what Kirby wants are two different things. um I think that a successful game is, you know, we win it easily, not really, you know, at at any point, are we frustrated by what we're seeing kind of situation? Not that I'm expecting that at all. But, um you know,
00:36:51
Speaker
we should be able to manhandle and name your score, right? Yeah. If you are able to name your score, um i would I wish that we would just, you know, pour it on and get everybody talking about how amazing the Bulldogs are this this season and how good we are because I had to sit here and listen to literally everyone and their brother talk about how amazing Tennessee was this this past week. went and And they played Chattanooga.
00:37:17
Speaker
um Yeah, so some of these other teams played like Bethune, Cookman or whatever. Like, you know what I mean? Like they just, they played a lot of these a lot of these teams that are ranked.
00:37:28
Speaker
You know, they ended up playing, they didn't play Clemson, they played ah Chattanooga or, so you know, directional university, you know, here. yeah um And we got to hear the pundits bloviate about them all all weekend long about how good they are. And I was like, come on, guys, Chattanooga, calm down.
00:37:48
Speaker
Yeah. So your point is basically that, but if, if we put up numbers, if we were to put up numbers very similar, then all of that evaporates. Yeah. And it's just like back to normal, I feel like, but, um, you know, we should, we should cut through them like a hot knife through butter. And it would be nice to see us actually do that. Yeah. Yeah. Agreed. Cool. All right. Next up. 51 to seven GATA. Is it just me or does Georgia have to lead the nation in players switching jerseys slash numbers during special teams?
00:38:17
Speaker
LOL. There was at least one point Saturday with two players using those substitute jerseys. I feel like we have to. like it it is It is out of control. If you if you watched any of the game, I guess that they announced it in the stadium. If you couldn't hear the announcers, but like it felt like it was all the time. like it was I don't know. i I would have to say that we have to be because I've never heard it mentioned so many times. We must have some guys that just have the same numbers.
00:38:47
Speaker
Yeah. No, we, we, we do. We do. Yeah. and what's that Which I wish that they were just like, all right, this is your number. We're not doing this anymore. Sorry. ah Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you know, we got a hundred options because you can wear zero times two or, you know, at least times two, not three. Can we, if you're going to be on the same special teams, can you have a different number? I don't know.
00:39:12
Speaker
But no, I agree. It's, uh, it's, I don't know. It's an exorbitant amount of times it happens. So it's a lot. I agree. Yes. Sure. Sure answer. Yes. Yeah. Okay. Uh, John Michael D with the Sony and girly tribute. Does that make the unofficial official running back spot take over for the previous receiver moniker? Just throwing us out. Was not able to, uh, Oh wait, then he's got a comment. I'll go ahead and read that. He said, was not able to be home in my little stitches attire until the start of the second half. My apologies to bubble haters. So the turning point in the game clearly was when John Michael D got into his appropriate attire. So, but thank you for at least course correcting once available. We appreciate that. That's all your fault.
00:39:52
Speaker
Okay, so we've got some official, unofficial receiver slash running back ah questions. I do just want to say that it was, there were texts between us going on during the game about this topic. Just i'll at least put that out there. Yeah. I would say that, uh, we haven't decided, but I don't, we haven't had officially unofficial running that back of my God, a podcast. Have we?
00:40:15
Speaker
No, that's his question is, should we, is that, is there, yeah, is there potential no to have that? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. If we had to stick with the unofficial official, I will say also inside sources, inside baseball, inside football, whatever from last season.
00:40:32
Speaker
the reason we were so The reason we were so Slow last year is because we knew we were eventually gonna get lad on and we didn't know when that was gonna happen ah For sure. And so we wanted it to be lad because of that because that worked But then that got you know, lad was hurt it got delayed we ended up not having that on into like the week of Ole Miss and we had the the people were clamoring and for an unofficial, official receiver. Lad was hurt. Mackay Muse kind of forced our hand and, you know, we welcomed him with open arms. Let's say, yeah, so that's kind of why it takes so long. Hopefully these things, you know, it'll unfold naturally and soon enough we'll have one. Is that? Yeah, I would say soon enough, these things will, these things will settle themselves out. Like, you know, we're just, we're, we're trying to figure out what we, what we got to work with. We're we're putting the Jimmy's in the Joes where they need to go and we're just going to figure it out.
00:41:23
Speaker
Amazing. All right. Uh, next up friend of the show, Tim Riley. Good seeing Jim in Atlanta. Hell of a win to start the season. We ran a lot of 12 personnel with lucky and dope. Do we anticipate this continuing and will we get dope some past targets or as lucky actually more of the past catching tight end that Carson will be turning to.
00:41:42
Speaker
That's a great question. I mean, that's kind of what I was saying, like Del was kind of not really, i did I think he, I'm pretty sure he kind of passed or two, but I can't remember where where he was on the, on the productivity chart, but whilst Lucky for sure was a a more favorite.
00:41:58
Speaker
receiver for him because he threw it to him for a couple of pretty big games. So yeah, I don't have, um, Oscar dealt with any catches from this game. Maybe he's hurt. I don't know. I mean, know yeah, I don't know. Some of it is just how it unfolds and you're making the read on it.
00:42:14
Speaker
ends up going to someone else. So I wouldn't be like, so like worried about that. But I i will say this, like, I mean, it's, it's awesome to see Lucky out there catching the ball like that. um Because we need that. I mean, there's nothing like having the two tight ends that are that are a threat to you know receive and and block as well. I mean, I think heading in, we were kind of thinking more along the lines of Delp is the pass catcher and Lucky is the blocker. And if they can both do both, then and awesome. Yeah, I would say that giving the defense something to think about um is going to be a ah much better situation for us than if they're expecting Delp and only Delp to be the pass catcher. then now that Now that Lucky has flashed his abilities,
00:43:04
Speaker
That's always going to be in the back of the defense's mind is like, we've got to, we've got to watch out for this guy, you know, maybe popping up in a seam or something like that. Yeah. Yeah. For sure. Uh, Tim, it was good to see you too, buddy. I'll close with that. Uh, that was a lot of fun. I saw the first pictures roll in about the tailgate and I was like, is that Tim?
00:43:26
Speaker
i I will say also Lily and I stood like a little bit when we, when we posed the four of us for a picture, like we were a little bit uphill as the way the parking lot, just so I did look quite as short next to Tim as I am, which I still am. And I still look short next to him, but it is what it is. That's why I was second guessing myself. Cause I was like, yes, I thought he was tall. I thought he was taller.
00:43:47
Speaker
but but Uh, Tim definitely was able to just stand in the back when we did the big group photo for the tailgate. All right. Craig has submitted a question. Craig Lawson should all of college football boycott attending these garbage games, the admin forces season ticket holders to pay for. And why is the answer to this question a resounding? Yes. Uh, in my opinion is no, I get the sentiment though, um, of not.
00:44:15
Speaker
liking these types of games. I think they're going to be fewer and further between as College of Law continues to realign and expand, whatever, all that stuff. um I think that the way it this goes away is to make nine game conference schedules. but
00:44:34
Speaker
ah Yeah, i I would say that they're probably going to be very quickly a thing of the past, which is going to change college. I mean, that's another thing that's going to change college football because those those small schools rely on these games to survive. So if these games go away, then that's going to change you know a lot about the, how do I phrase this?
00:44:55
Speaker
It's going to change a lot about the underpinnings of of college of the college football world. Right, right. I i do feel like the the boycotting thing is almost more of a pro thing maybe than like college. I don't know, like for me, it's not so much what it's about. Now, granted, I know I'm saying this as someone who is not going to the game this Saturday, but I will say we we have a group um that we all of our tickets are together and There will be butts in the seats um for what it's worth ah of our tickets we've got. So I don't know. I just need to go. And I know there's NIL and all this stuff, but they are still college students. And so I go for them. So they can't they don't control the schedule. So I don't know. That's my take. But I get it. I know where you're coming from. I get that. But still no.
00:45:47
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, ah I would say if you look on the schedule and see whoever it is, and you have the ability to go, go, because you only get what, six, six or seven, six or seven opportunities a year to go. I mean, I know that I know that from my own personal experience, when I talked to a lot of Georgia fans, like, Hey, did you, you know,
00:46:09
Speaker
Did you go last year? Did you go to the games? It's like, oh no, I haven't been to games in years. and And that used to be me. You know, I would, you know, if you're in the throes of, you know, having a family and young kids and all that kind of stuff, I totally get it. but Like my kids are starting to get a little bit older and a little bit more self-sufficient. They've gotten a heck of a lot busier, but um I mean, if I have the chance to go, I'm going because I enjoy going to Athens. I enjoy the tailgate atmosphere.

Game Day Expectations and Social Aspects

00:46:39
Speaker
um Who cares who we're playing? I mean, does it make it a little bit more interesting? Yeah, but I'm still looking forward to tailgating. I'm still looking forward to getting together with everybody that's out there. So does that take away from it? No, it doesn't matter who it is. Yeah, I agree. I agree.
00:46:56
Speaker
All right, Brian Musser. Brian from the Mostly Tailgate. Will this be the game where Kirby has the coordinators call the plays to manufacture adversity? but right So then we didn't discuss and what we were looking for. Uh, I mean, I don't, the closest I came to talking about this earlier was when I said like, when it's third and one and they know we're going to run and we run and I want to see us move. like That kind of thing. I mean, we do, you do tend to see us do stuff like that. It's like, well, we should be able to impose our will on these guys. Um, so I don't, I mean, you will see things that will make you question that I'll, so I'll put it that way. It's going to be vanilla. It's going to be vanilla.
00:47:36
Speaker
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. it' It'll definitely be a vanilla situation. I don't think you're going to be seeing too many trick plays in there. Yeah. All right. um Did you have something else on that? I feel like I could. No, no, I don't. I mean, the manufactured or manufactured adversity is ah is is real. um I do think that, you know, if you if you find us down there, you know, first in goal, they're probably going to try to run. Yeah. Yeah.
00:48:01
Speaker
Yeah, they they use games like this to work on stuff. So yeah, yeah situational situational analysis on how you handle certain situations and how you handle certain play calls and certain assignments, etc. Like, I definitely think that there's a lot of that going on. I mean, and that's kind of goes back to the previous questions about like, you know, boycott in these games, like, I mean,
00:48:22
Speaker
college, even the elite level college programs are using these games to get better because they're able to do certain things in these games that they are not normally able to do in a game like Clemson, for example. um You know, we would be able to put our player into a yeah certain looks that we might not normally want to put them in a again in a game like we play against Clemson or Tennessee or something like that. And, you know, just to see how they see how they react. Yeah.
00:48:52
Speaker
Agreed. Agreed. Uh, let's see. Next up, Tricia. And this is a good one. If you were a college football athlete currently, what would be your dream? And I'll deal. And I feel like I have a clarifying question, so I'm sure you do. Uh, cause I feel like I, although she said if you're a college football athlete currently, cause my only thing is like what I would want now would be different than like when I was that age, I feel like most likely like back then I would have wanted something dumb, like Like a trail hawk. Well, no, no, and but I was like way more boring. Like, although I don't know, maybe these would be pretty good. Like I would want like Guthrie's or little Italy. Yeah. Like something like that. The official, the official, official pizzeria of ah Jim Wood.
00:49:42
Speaker
And again, I will say I am a huge fan of like this, like the awkward local commercials. So I feel like I would like to have something that was a little bit more local and so that I could be in like a super early like random local commercial that like doesn't make sense because I like this. Right.
00:50:00
Speaker
um Yeah, I guess ah the clarifying question would be, is it the JP of, you know, circa 2002 or is it JP circa like now? yeah yeah Oh, she did say currently. Oh, currently. Okay. Maybe we go with now. We'll go with now. Yeah. So I guess now I would say that my ideal would be like a Peter Miller situation or an honorable reserve situation.
00:50:25
Speaker
yeah um You know, i wouldn't mind I wouldn't mind being an ambassador for the hunker down burden and podcast situation, but I have a feeling that it's probably not the intended intended the usage of the student athletes there, um and particularly these days. But yeah, I would say um definitely give me a car, give me some clothes. Yeah, I'd be i'd be totally happy.
00:50:52
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. That's how I feel like now, now some of it is, some of it is almost more practical now, even with bourbon. Cause like we buy a lot of bourbon. Right. Right. Right. So it it hasn't happened yet, but like eventually it probably will, especially as like some of these, you know, like the arch mannings of the world or whatever start to figure some of these things out that they can do and the power that they wield. Like, can we get like a messy situation where it's like, no, no, no, no, I'll do the advertising free for a chunk of the ownership. You know what I mean? like Give me, give me, give me some ownership stake. Right. Yeah.
00:51:26
Speaker
I don't know. I don't know. We would have to look into like what exactly are the rules and what you can and can't receive. I don't know. Maybe you could. Maybe you could. Yeah. I did hear that um some of the, I think that they've posted about this publicly, but um like if you are a foreign, a foreign athlete, like the Mr. Brett Thorson situation, um he cannot be paid while he's here in the United States. but i can see They can only pay him when he's in Australia.
00:51:54
Speaker
I saw that. He tweeted about that this summer because he went back home to Australia and he was like, Hey, well, I'm here. Give me a note. I'm open for a night. Exactly. So like, that there's, there's, this there's an element of truth because they're on a student visa. And if you're on a student visa, you cannot, you cannot have an income while you're here.
00:52:12
Speaker
Okay, man, that's interesting. Yeah. So we have all these guys that come over from, you know, pro kick Australia or whatever, and they can't get paid. I have a feeling, I have a feeling what's going to happen there is that they're going to create a satellite situation over here and in the United States and yeah just bring them

Special Teams and Game Predictions

00:52:30
Speaker
over here.
00:52:30
Speaker
ah Yeah. um but But like, are all Australian punters as marketable as Brett Thorson? Because I feel like the answer is no. Like, I feel like the answer is absolute, a resounding no. He's great. He's great. I hope he can just like, stay here forever. He looks like he's getting into the weight room too. Like, looks like and an absolute unit out there.
00:52:51
Speaker
I mean, maybe he was hanging out, you know, maybe hanging out with Stetson. I mean, he's getting in there with Tate and he's having to deal with Tate's trash talk. Like, all right, fine. I'm going to, I'm going to have to start with lifting weights here. True. True. Maybe they'll talk about it on their podcast. Maybe, maybe. We'll have to check out the next episode.
00:53:10
Speaker
Yeah. All right. Oh, man. Great segue. Eric Russell. Will this be another game where Carson hates punters? I mean, I hope so. I such yeah i think so. I think so. I actually i actually was thinking like,
00:53:27
Speaker
this last game after Clemson, you know, he didn't tweet anything like that because he he did actually get to punt in the first half. So I was kind of wondering, like, would he tweet though? Like, hey, Carson, thanks for letting me punt a few times or like, is that like shade?
00:53:42
Speaker
So I don't know. I didn't see it. We'll have to keep watching it, but yes, hopefully. but Yeah. Hopefully he gets exactly zero. All right. Fletcher Proctor wants to know, uh, best touchdown celebration, the bow, the blown kiss or the jazz hands. And then he threw in also maybe even the sets and guitar. What have, uh, you got it. You got a favorite of any of those.
00:54:04
Speaker
Hmm. I feel like the bow is pretty, it's pretty epic. Although I will say that the Stetson with the phone call, that was that was pretty, that was pretty amazing. That was a good one. That was a good one. I mean, I can't wait. I can't wait until someone throws a horns down at Texas. the Yeah. Yeah. No penalties for that in the SEC.
00:54:33
Speaker
I did like the, the combination of bow with the jazz hands together was good. Um, which I didn't remember that Sony, I guess did do that sometimes. Sony always did the jazz hands, but, uh, but did do the, do the combo. So I do like that. Um, the Stetson guitar was amazing. The only thing that like hurts me is we've lost that game. Also like he got hurt on that play. Like he was hurt, which also like, God, like he has like,
00:55:02
Speaker
Stetson, his mindset is so incredible. like He literally had just separated shoulder and then hit the air guitar against Florida that year. But like yeah, so I don't know. i The other one I would add into is the the Cash Money kashmin Jones. That's pretty good. That's a pretty good one.
00:55:18
Speaker
I mean and I would also say that like as a you know ah when we were watching the games this past weekend or whatever you know talking about Miami Miami Florida I mean how amazing was it would it be to put a beat down on Florida in the swamp and then be able to just run around through your gator chomp and like just making fun of them.
00:55:37
Speaker
Yeah, the Gator jump in with the like slash X, which the Miami girlie did that to players. Yes. The Miami players did that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That that was wild. That was wild out of the ones listed though. I'll go with the, the, the, the combo bow jazz hands. That was awesome. I do like that. I'm the ones listed. Absolutely. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, let's see. Rambo wants to know, uh, what time we dip into the brown water.
00:56:05
Speaker
As soon as I get on campus. Sounds right. I'll be at home. So probably kick off ish. I don't know. Yeah, we're probably waiting. I'll probably, I'll probably, I jokingly say that, but I'll probably get into it around lunchtime. Yeah. Yeah. Usually start with a couple of beers. I will say though, classic city loggers. At the, ah at the, at the Morris Hall tailgate though, they often have, uh, in, in Greg had this last week, had the, um, the age and age 10 star.
00:56:35
Speaker
So you think that maybe you may have a little bourbon and coke. Uh, to get you started. That's what I did. Or, uh, or a little, little Irish coffee. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. So sometimes you get, you gotta do stuff like that for the earlier games. So two o'clock though. Yep. Complete new time. All right. Last one, an actual, another football question. and I might struggle with this one a little bit. So Blake Davis between Jalen smile, Raylan CJ and Damon, is this the most athletic group of linebackers Georgia has had? Um,
00:57:07
Speaker
I was thinking through this a bit earlier. I mean, as far as a good group, I mean, maybe, um, also I feel like, um, just in general, the kids these days get more athletic with just like better training and everything. But I was trying to think back to like some of like the great, the great groups and usually there's like, so I'll throw out like 2002, for example, like you've got like a boss Bailey.
00:57:31
Speaker
Right. Who's like off the charts, athletic, but then you've got guys like, like Tony Gilbert, not to say Tony Gilbert is an athletic, but he was like a, more like a bigger linebacker who's going to come in there and lay the hit. That crew though, I would say I would have maybe thrown them up there had Thomas Davis played linebacker in college, but he was a safety on that team and not playing linebacker. So I feel like we could have come close there, but you know, different, different times. I feel like linebackers were a lot bigger in the past.
00:57:57
Speaker
Um, you know, and now we're the game has changed where you got these speed guys. So just from that perspective, uh, yeah, yeah. Yeah. You had Renny, Renny Curran.
00:58:10
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. So, uh, it may be, it may be, um, they're fun. They are, they're fun to watch man. Um, Damon Wilson too is you know someone we haven't talked about a ton, but I know he he had a good game on Saturday. I laid some, played a pretty big hit, uh, on, on club Nick. Uh, they're all fun to watch. So maybe I can't, I can't think of a group off the top of my head yeah that has that kind of athleticism. So ah Leonard Floyd. That's true.
00:58:38
Speaker
Leonard Floyd and who was he? Was he with, was he with Roquan? Um, Roquan's freshman year, maybe, I feel like, no, I feel like they were like a year apart, but we did have, yeah, that's okay. That's okay. Yeah. I can't remember that off the top of my head anymore. I'm running out of room. JP hit my head for the historical rosters. I feel like some things are moving out and others are moving in. So
00:59:06
Speaker
ah All right. That, I believe, is it for the listener questions um that we've got for this week? You skipped one. Oh, did I? Yeah, you skipped the Kool-Aid question, I thought. Oh, okay. Not bad. Which cult has the better Kool-Aid, Texas A&M or Clemson? Yes. I mean, the answer is always A&M.
00:59:31
Speaker
Okay. They don't have, they don't have Boy Scouts dressed up on the sidelines, um, chanting random things and they don't meet up the Friday before with, uh, overalls and practicing set to yours. Right. Uh, they're frigging weird. Okay. So we'll go then. Yes. Okay. Cool. Um, all right. That leaves us with.
01:00:09
Speaker
It is time for coaches and runners. We're keeping the music. We're keeping it rolling. um Let's see, JP, because you went the perfect 8-0 last week, I think you get the honors ah to choose. Do you want to go first do your or do you want me to go first? Let's see here. Are you going to take the ball or are you going to defer?
01:00:32
Speaker
I'm going to defer. Oh, you're going to defer. Okay. All right. Over, under three and a half Georgia rushing touchdowns. I'm going to go over. You're going to go over. Okay. I'm going to go under. Okay. um Over to you. Over, under two and a half quarterbacks play for Georgia. I'm going to go over. Got to agree. Got to agree with you.
01:00:57
Speaker
Um, I'll also take the over, um, over, under nine and a half players with a catch. Um, I will go, let me go over.
01:01:09
Speaker
and thank I'm running through my head. Uh, I'll go over. Okay. Uh, all right. Over to you for the defense. Okay. It was over under three and a half sacks. You're taking the under. Yes. Okay. I told you I'm going to take the under until they can prove me wrong. Okay.
01:01:28
Speaker
Fair enough. Uh, you want them to show me. So you gotta like that. with lookcur All right. I'm going to continue to disagree with you on this one then. Uh, so I'm going to say over three and a half sex. Um, next we've got over under two and a half forced turnovers by the Georgia defense. Uh, that is a lot. I'm going to go under. I'm also going to go under. and Okay.
01:01:55
Speaker
And then for you, over under 12 and a half players with a tackle. Over. Okay. I'll go over. And then over under two and a half field goals attempted by Georgia. Oh, man. I'm gonna go under.
01:02:12
Speaker
I'll go over. Okay. And then last one is yours. Over under 31 first half points for Georgia. I'm gonna go under. I'm gonna go under. That's a lot of points. Although if we were to stay on schedule with where I want to go, that would be, that would be where we would need to be. You hope you're wrong.
01:02:33
Speaker
I hope I'm wrong. but I'm going under. Oh, yes. Oh, yes. OK, cool. Coach also has some some games that we'll get to after we make our um Georgia picks. So thanks, Coach, always for submitting the over-unders and tracking them as well.
01:02:51
Speaker
Yes. All right. So for the predictions, um, we really don't have anything to go on here. There's no, as far as I can tell, I went for when I last I checked the games, like kind of like a off the board kind of deal. Um, I haven't seen a, I couldn't find a line for the game. You know, they they do that with stuff like this. Um, then you get the number one team in the country, um, playing a one double a team. So.
01:03:18
Speaker
egg I can have it. Um, I mean, you use the phrase name your score game and that it, that it should be that, uh, I agree. Um, see the last time we played these guys, it was 38 to nothing. I don't know. What do you, what are you thinking? JP? Oh, last time we played him was when? 2009. Um, I don't think that we're going to see a 38 to nothing.
01:03:45
Speaker
Um, I would say 45 to seven. I had just decided on my score, so I'm just going to leave it. I was going to say 48 to six. So we're right, really right there in the same spot. So bad I could not say that once you said that.
01:04:04
Speaker
you're true to yourself. Yeah, yeah, exactly. So yeah, you know, this is one of those games where just it's all it's all about the mental focus. So yeah, protect them all. Come on with them. good Yeah, exactly. Exactly.
01:04:21
Speaker
All right, um games around the the nation. So Coach gave us some pick-up games to talk through. I mean, the biggest one, I would say, is the big noon kickoff on Fox, which is why we have noon games on ABC with the SEC, by the way, which I don't know if you saw.
01:04:42
Speaker
The reason Georgia is on at noon, georgia the Georgia Clemson game was like the second highest rated game on Saturday, um, this week. Number one was Notre Dame, A&M, like no surprise prime time game, but Georgia was second. So I'm going to do this. I'm going to look at it. I want to, I want to go back in time. Like I want to know.
01:05:01
Speaker
back when Ron Franklin, you know, was announcing those, those Georgia games. I want to know like what the big game, like, cause this, this 12 o'clock, like Texas and Michigan have no business playing at 12 o'clock. That's just freaking like a top 10 matchup playing at 12 o'clock is just asinine.
01:05:21
Speaker
And the only thing I can figure is that they figured out that us degenerates are going to watch the night games no matter what. And they might as well capitalize on when there's as many possible people because there are normal people that go to bed at night and don't watch my, uh, uh, don't watch Hawaii and USC or whatever. Right.
01:05:42
Speaker
um So anyway like that's the only thing that I can figure is happening here is because they're capturing the you know from a political perspective right you know you got the people that are are for sure gonna always vote blue people that are for sure always gonna vote red and so you're just fighting for the middle you're fighting for the middle to sway the to sway the vote well I think that that's what's I think that that has to be what's happening here is that there's they're vying for the people that are you know in the middle here Yeah, that makes sense. And I think one of the things I'd always heard was like yeah ESPN was able to retain, I mean, they've got game day and people will just leave it on the channel. You tune in for game, if you tune in for game day, which I feel like is not as big of a deal as it used to be. But yeah, that's what I'm saying. Like, yeah if that's the, if that's the working theory, maybe they're just trying to hold on to the whatever audience that they've created here. But like, yeah.
01:06:33
Speaker
you I mean, I'm in this boat. um I watched a little bit of game day. um I didn't watch very much at all because <unk> just it's just boring. It's just boring now. like i don't yeah and When they brought Shane Gillis out, off the rails. Um, when they brought Shane Gillis out for the Notre Dame, um, Texas A&M thing, and he started like going in, uh, and talking and joking and doing a little bit of comedy routine or whatever. And then, um, I think that when he happened to, I don't know, I don't know if he was there before, but like when I saw him.
01:07:12
Speaker
I didn't know if he was there previously, but when when they were doing the the field goal, um what's his face? The carnival barker um does the field goal competition. And this kid was just talking so much trash. And Shane Gillis just goes off on him.
01:07:29
Speaker
I was like, man, if Shane Gillis would, if Shane Gillis was talking and and part of game day, I would probably watch that a heck of a lot more than, you know, listening to, um, McAfee and, you know, go, go shirtless and and hugging on Nick Saban, like, Oh my gosh.
01:07:48
Speaker
The video, the video of Saban next to McPhee from this week was was pretty good. Like, like why what am I doing here? Honestly, I just found out that Shane Gillis was on it when you told me just now. I was three years old. Yeah. I didn't even know who's on it. yeah did I was at 12 o'clock.
01:08:08
Speaker
he was like I mean they they were talking to this kid who was very cocky and he missed the first shot but he nailed the second shot um I guess they gave him a second shot and McAfee upped it to like 50k normally it's like 25 um to put some pressure on them and at first like they're interviewing this kid like and you think you're gonna make it he's like yeah yeah i' totally gonna make it and Shane was like I don't know man you're coming off kind of arrogant I was rooting for you. They're like talking about this is going to be easy. Like I kind of want you to miss.
01:08:41
Speaker
The route against you. That's amazing. Yeah. ah if you If you don't know who Shane Gilles is, he has a special on Netflix, or you can just YouTube him on comedy, and he is hilarious. Apparently, he's a Notre Dame fan. I don't know if he went to Notre Dame or not, but apparently he's a Notre Dame fan. Okay. But anyway, yeah. The game day situation is... I mean, I thought that that was the whole thing. like That's why they shook everything up, right? Because the viewership for game day had gone down down the tubes.
01:09:07
Speaker
Yeah. No, i I guess what I was saying was like, that I think Fox is trying to, Fox is putting this game here to, to steal that audience. Right. I feel like it's a stupid miss. i I wish that they would go the other direction and be like, Oh, you've got South Carolina and Kentucky at three 30.

Football Matchup Predictions and Analysis

01:09:25
Speaker
Uh, what's the night game? Oh, you got Tennessee, got Tennessee and NC state. We're going to put Texas and Michigan at,
01:09:31
Speaker
like up against them thirty yeah yeah that. would be the That would be the time to do it because apparently no one has these premier matchups. like you talk to every fan You talk to every fan about this setup. like why Why is that playing? When I was talking to my buddy at the the the party I was at, yeah he's not like a super he's not a super fan or a degenerate like us. but like I was like, yeah, we you know Georgia played at 12. And he's like, why? ah Again, right I already answered your question. I already answered your question. But that's why. i'm i'm saying I'm saying the average person doesn't understand it. Yeah, i but that um the TV does not care.
01:10:11
Speaker
They want eyeballs on it and they are trying to maximize the eyeballs. And if you put it up against that night game, you're not going to get it. Cause you're splitting, you're splitting the vote to use your political analogy earlier earlier. Right. Like they're trying to get the most on it. And so that's why. So JP, who you got Michigan, Texas. Um, it's Texas at Michigan. They're playing at Michigan. Ooh, they're at the big house. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, I would love for Michigan to beat up on Texas. Okay.
01:10:40
Speaker
f team FTMF, you're part of the SEC now. We want everybody to lose. True. Is that your pick? that is like that's my That's my pick. Yeah. Okay. Okay. I'm going to take Texas. um That's just me. But yeah, I don't know. it Honestly, I'll be pulling for like, I hope it's a good game kind of thing. Yeah, I'll i'll be pulling for the asteroid. Yeah.
01:11:03
Speaker
Uh, let's see that we got Arkansas at number 17, Oklahoma state. Um, Arkansas scored like all the points, uh, against a small school, like you were saying last week. Um, I don't know. I don't know much about Oklahoma state. Um, this year, I feel like Arkansas has been, they're, they're coached by a man.
01:11:24
Speaker
the half is They, Oklahoma State played Georgia that season when that happened, by the way. Um, but that was like, well, it was like 2007. Um, yeah, I guess I'll, I'll, I'll take the man. He was there forever. He's been there forever. I mean, you know, I love coach Pittman, but I'm going to go to Oklahoma state. Yeah. If it's at Oklahoma state, I've got to go with Oklahoma state on this one.
01:11:48
Speaker
All right. Then we got the three 30 game on ABC, South Carolina at Kentucky, fighting but the fighting uh, the fighting fighting Vandygriffs. I would say that's what I'm taking. I'm digging Brock. Uh, did you see the sequence, like the opening sequence of the Kentucky game? They play Southern mess, like opening drive Vandygriff through a pick.
01:12:09
Speaker
But then like three late, three times later, J'mon Dumas Johnson got a pick. He got the ball back. I was like, this is so weird. I can't, I can't handle this. So weird. Uh, but yeah, they got Brock and JDJ as well. I'm gonna pick Kentucky.
01:12:22
Speaker
Yeah. Uh, I definitely going to go for, for Kentucky on that one and just put another coach, put another SEC coach on the even hotter seat. Yeah. Cause, uh, South Carolina struggled against the old Dominion this past weekend, right? Yeah. It was, it was close. I mean, they, they could have lost that game. They squeaked out. Yeah. I squeaked out a win. Yeah.
01:12:43
Speaker
All right. And then the last one is number 15, Tennessee against number 24 NC state, uh, here in Charlotte at a bank America stadium. That's the, uh, seven 30 night game on ABC. I mean, like you said, Tennessee is like amazing, right?
01:12:58
Speaker
ah Allegedly they're, you know, like why, why do we even need to play the games kind of thing? Yeah. Yeah. Uh, I hope, I hope NC State wins. Okay. I'm going to pick Tennessee, but also hope NC State wins. Yeah. FTMF. Yeah. Yeah. All right.

Personal Weekend Plans and Reflections

01:13:15
Speaker
That's what we got. The new coaches, new addition with the coaches pick them games. So appreciate I like, shit I like, I like the pickup games. Uh, it gives me an opportunity to take a look at some things that I wouldn't normally look at. Yeah. I agree.
01:13:27
Speaker
All right. Well, uh, head into the game, name your score game. What's your plan? Keep the kids focus. Assume nothing. Plan is, um, don't really have a plan. um So I'm going to, so it's going to be a very weird weekend. This will be the first weekend with one kid at home since we only had one kid with, uh,
01:13:48
Speaker
are all just going away to college. So we' moving Ella into college on Thursday. ah So just be Kim and I and Lily on the home front on Saturday. Lily has a birthday party you to go to. So it'll probably be Kim and I watching on the porch with Bean Dip and such. and That's my best guess. I just realized Bean Dip would be amazing. I just realized that so ah lily's li Lily's ride is is is leaving, huh?
01:14:18
Speaker
Right. Right. True. Now you guys gotta go pick her up from the party or prep her off or whatever. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That is a good, good point. Uh, yeah, we've already felt that so far this year because Ella isn't going to school and we haven't been making Ella like wake up to take her sister to school.
01:14:39
Speaker
yeah nicer prison Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So yeah. So we've been taking her to school. Um, although I would have to say that I am, I'm firmly in the ride the bus camp. Yeah. Yeah. She, she rides it home. Uh, actually she usually rides the bus home. She just doesn't run the bus in the morning. I don't know. Yeah. We, and you got to ride the bus in our house. So yeah. So that's the plan, but not no firm plans. Uh, just going to be a weird weekend with the L I haven't just gone to college. So got it.
01:15:11
Speaker
Well, Carter and I will be there. so It's a my birthday weekend, so and my daughter's birthday weekend. so um But this will be for me. Normally, when you have the same birthday as you're one of your kids, you you really don't get a birthday. so right Uh, coach shout out and you may not realize it at the time, but, uh, wonderful, wonderful birthday gift. Um, so I'm going to head, I'm going to head to the game with, uh, with hashtag old. Sorry, Carter. Um, and, uh, we're going to have a good time. Hopefully the, uh, hopefully Kirby and company give you a birthday present in the form of the game going the way that you hope it's going to go, not just to win, but in the. Yes. Yes. Absolutely.
01:15:56
Speaker
And I will, i will actually, yeah i'll I'll get to do this before you, Jim. I'll get to crack open a beer in Sanford Stadium for the first time, right? Ah, yes. Yeah, you gotta let me know. You gotta let me know, like, you gotta report back on the options and all that. how that got That Cheers Boys photo is gonna hit a little different on Saturday. Nice, nice. I just realized that, I forgot about that.
01:16:24
Speaker
I did have, uh, I did have a beer, you know, Georgia, Georgia Clemson, but that's always, that wasn't, that doesn't count. That wasn't different. Yeah. That was like, you can always do that. So that, if your dad's there, I'll share it with him. Nice. I see you have to give him a, have to give him a cheers. Yes, exactly. Um, I'm bringing pimento cheese. Uh, you mentioned the bean dip. I'm for sure going to bring in pimento cheese. Nice.
01:16:51
Speaker
Nice. I love it. Maybe I'll maybe do some of that. Love a good pimento cheese. I had I had a chicken and pimento cheese biscuit for breakfast yesterday and it was incredible. So that will be partially what I'm hoping to do.
01:17:06
Speaker
um awesome on Saturday. Do you make it yourself or do you you purchase like the the Paulie's Island or wherever it is? When we when we have it, I know. Yeah, i we usually buy the ah the Palmetto cheese actually. Palmetto cheese. that's what yeah Yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's my that's my go to for sure.
01:17:22
Speaker
It is also my go-to, but I will tell you that the prices on those things have been through the going through the roof. It's kind of crazy how expensive they are these days. but Especially if they're on Bobby's receipt from Publix. Yes. yes it's like I don't know. I haven't been seen it at Costco lately, but anyway, it's usually a way better deal at Costco. but I actually made it. I'm going to be making it myself.
01:17:49
Speaker
Oh, nice. Okay, yeah cool. You have to hit you have to hit me up with the recipe. You're you're quite the chef, JP. For those who don't know, I got sent some pictures of the biscuits you made this weekend. And holy moly, that was like a legit biscuit. It was, it was homemade biscuits. i I woke up, I woke up and I was like, you know, we, we needed to, we'd already run through the budget, you know, we were trying to get to, trying to get the groceries and all that stuff. And I'm like,
01:18:16
Speaker
And I made biscuits. So I was like, I got flour. I got butter. I got some milk. Let me just, let me just whip some up. They look really good. Nice, nice and layered flaky. They look really good. That is, that is, uh, I will say I've made them before. And the way you get the layers is you just fold the dough constantly. You just constantly fold the dough. And I had never done that before. So that was good.
01:18:40
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. It was good. And I made a i made some pecan, lemon, blueberry muffins this morning for breakfast. Italian. You yeah you gotta to follow JP and the socials to see how it fits. Impressive.
01:18:58
Speaker
I could do, I could do a lot. I can do a lot. Oh, sweet. All right, man. Well, uh, hope you and Carter have a great time in Athens. Uh, let me know how the, I'm sure the beer will be flowing like wine in Sanders Stadium. Let me, let me know how that is. Uh, curious to find out that, but, uh, yeah, man, hope you have a great birthday weekend. Yeah. It will be the fourth quarter. And I'm going to be walking out and be like, how much, how much beer did you guys sell in here? age but We got the you to start, start tracking it for coaches over unders. Yeah.
01:19:29
Speaker
Exactly. Awesome. All right, man. Well, I'm gonna miss you for sure. It's always always a sad day when we go to the game day and Jim's not there. But we'll be we'll be cheering. We'll be cheering for you. Sweet. Thanks, man. Appreciate it. Yes, sir. Go dogs. Go dogs.
