Living Amidst a Volcanic Eruption

It's not somewhere else. It's within you. And it's how you show up in your everyday life. It's how you show up in relationship to self and to others. It's it's really profound once you truly slow it down enough to Allow yourself to reconnect to truth.

And so, yeah, um I, for those of you that don't know, i am on the big island of Hawaii. And right now, the Kilauea volcano Pele is erupting and she's really been going off. And so,

this, um, there's fog in the air and it's really, um, it's a lot. Um, so my cow's eyes are weeping a little bit and, and, um, we're feeling a little tired because we're not breathing in that pure air from the ocean. It's also mixed in with the, the volcanic, I don't know what it's called. It, we, yeah, we call it fog. So not fog, but fog.

Um, So that's what's going on here.

Setting Boundaries for Self-Care

ah the thing that I wanted to share today is it's this question of what are you giving your energy away to?

And I'm not necessarily talking about other people because maybe at this time you've really like learned how to set boundaries with other people or at least you're in the process of trying because I feel like that's something that is very, you know, it's it's it's so taught on this journey about learning that it's okay to have boundaries. But this isn't really going to be a conversation about boundaries with others. It's going to be more about boundaries with the things like the dishes, right?

or the housework or the things that need to get done and the ways that sometimes we put all of those things before us and then we don't have the energy to actually take care of us.

So this is what I want to start really having you think about is, okay, do I need to have my house clean?

Do I need to have everything in order before I can feel comfortable? can can i start giving the best of what I have to myself first, walk out of the kitchen, allow the dishes to be there for another hour while I go do my yoga practice, while I go do my meditation, while I go do my walk, while I dance, while I sing, while I do ah

When I have the most energy, Can I just leave those dishes there? Can I leave that laundry there? Can I leave the things that take away like the best part of your energy?

can I do my workout or whatever first and then come to that afterwards? And the answer is yes, you actually can. Once you really realize that there is these underlying programs that are like saying that you need everything to be a certain way for you to feel good. Is that really true?

Is it really true that everything needs to be in place or is that way, is that your way to control the outside so you feel comfortable on the inside? So it's a really good question to ask yourself.

Like you will feel what you need to do for yourself or what you are wanting to do for yourself. For instance, I recently really started stepping up my working out again um and i And I'm you know just having to really feel into my body because I still have a little bit of issues from my explant on my left shoulder. So I'm having to modify all lie And that's showing up a whole

There's a whole lot showing up in there to that comparison of what I used to be able to do versus what I can do now. But that's ah that's another conversation at another time. But what I notice is, you know, obviously living on the farm, we have certain things that we do have to take care of because we have animals and some of them are babies, like our moo-moos, our moomers. I call my cows, my cowies, moomers.

Yes, I have nicknames for all of my animals, but some of the animals we do have to take care of. before we really get into taking care of ourselves but it's not getting lost in then the doing of everything it's we've made this process where we we will feed the cows we will feed the chickens so that they're not trying to infiltrate into our into our space um but then we turn the attention back to ourselves but hey what if you know

Once I'm in that motion of already doing I walk in and I see you know the coffee cups and I see the things and I feel like oh gosh the counters are dirty and I need to sweep the floors and I need to do all these different things.

If I go into that I drain myself. before I'm even able to do my workout. And let's be honest, I am in perimenopause right now and my energy fluctuates and i really have to like go, okay, right now I feel good so I can go do my workout.

But if I think, oh gosh, I need to do all those other things first before I get to me, then I just won't. Like I know I won't. I will drain my energy plus, Like how fun is it to do your dishes and sweep the floors and all of that?

Fitness and Personal Wellbeing

Like I'd much rather do my naughty girl fitness, which I don't know if you've heard of it or seen it, but it is so fun. And i have so much fun like moving my hips, shaking, dancing, you know, moving the energy out and and feeling into my body when I do that, that I end up having even more energy. So then I can go do the things, the

The everyday things that yes, we do have to take care of. But why are we doing that before we take care of ourselves?

And if our spouse has a problem with it, then we can just say, hey, I will get to this, but first I'm going to take care of myself and then I'll do it. And if they really can't handle it and they do it for you, bonus.

But that's on them and that was their choice.

Finding Peace Through Self-Care

So that's really what I just wanted to share today. And this is a really short episode, but I just want you to really ask yourself in the moment, is this where I want to give the best of my energy in this moment?

Or do I have to do it because I need it to be this way in order to feel comfortable? Yeah, those are just some questions to ask yourself. And it's not wrong if that's where you are.

It isn't wrong. But i what I want to encourage you to do is leave something that you normally would have to do to feel comfortable. Leave it.

Go do something for yourself first. And then later come back to it and see that you feel better.

You feel better because you didn't allow that program, which is not even true, to force you to control a situation to make you feel better.
