I really love the energy of fire and it gets me like really excited and it gives me a little bit more oomph to be creative and this week instead of creating an episode during that time I was continuing to do some creation around the farm and with herbs and if you listen to the episode last week I said I would be trying one new thing a week and and Well, the thing that I tried was to make homemade butter out of some raw milk that I bought down at the farmers market and I really I don't have a cream separator and so it didn't really work out and And I was like, you know what, it's okay.

Sometimes things don't work out, but it doesn't mean that we shouldn't try those things. Like, it's okay to still try, because if I didn't try, then I would have never known.

And now I know I'm just going to so gonna get a cream separator to make sure that I can do it the next time. So each time that we're faced with something that doesn't actually work, it just gives us an opportunity to learn how it will work next time. And that also goes into your spiritual journey. Everything that we're faced with when we're here is an opportunity to learn and to grow from.

We get to choose to greet each thing that happens to us in our life as a lesson and not get caught into it and bring us down into lower levels where we can go into to fear and pain and separation.

And so today in this episode, I want to talk about the importance of setting up a morning routine and why it's extremely vital during your spiritual healing journey to dedicate yourself to a routine.

And this is largely because, yes, this podcast is called Sacred Self-Love and being able to truly come back to love in your heart is being able to learn to love yourself again and to know that you are worthy of taking time for yourself and to nourish yourself and to start being able to truly listen to what your body needs in every situation.

And instead of that overriding well you didn't do blank blank and blank or you're lazy or any of the things that you know your ego can be telling you that it's actually really okay as a human being to allow yourself to rest.

Yoga: A Path from Depression to Stability

But if we are overcome by the subconscious programming that is in there, if that is what is driving you, if your nervous system is unregulated and is just pushing you to move, move, move, then you actually are not opening yourself up to true healing and what is possible for you. So one of the things that really was potent for me was when I went through you know this really dark night of the soul, this really depressive episode back in 2020 when I just went down and I was unable to function, there was this voice inside of me that just kept saying, do yoga. And you might have heard me tell this story before, but I was at this place where I was

I was completely non-functional. I was stuck in a trauma loop. I was, I mean, just like everything in my life felt like it was falling apart. Even though everything from the outside to everyone else looked like it was so great. It looked like I had the car, the house, the business, the money, the family, the beautiful dog, like everything from the outside looked great. You know, I even looked great.

physically, I believe. um But on the inside it was like none of it made any sense anymore and I just was like this is just like miserable where I was, right? But when I decided that I was going to take care of myself and I was going to get out of this loop and I was going to find a way to stay on this planet and live i wanted to live for my children i wanted to live for my husband for my family for you know i just i wanted to live i actually really did so this voice just kept coming and it was just like do yoga and this was during the pandemic um and i was staying at a friend's condo down in Waikiki and

My son and I went down to Lulu lemon. I waited in line, you know, because you could only have a certain amount of people go in the store at a time because I i needed to buy a yoga mat. It was just like, I am so committed to this. I know whatever voice this is inside of me is.

Yeah, I just, I have to listen to this voice. i did I didn't, at that time I was not on a spiritual journey. I didn't realize that that was my higher self calling out to me.

Beyond Exercise: The Spiritual Side of Yoga

That was source energy calling out to me to tell me like this is what would help me. I didn't know that but I listened and I'm thankful I did because from that day I grabbed my yoga mat, I went on YouTube and I found Sarah Beth Yoga And I did her yoga every day for six months. Sometimes it was only a 10 minute yoga, sometimes 15, sometimes 30, 45 an hour. It was, um but I committed to myself every single morning that I would get on that mat because I wanted to live. I wanted to feel better. I didn't even understand at the time what yoga actually does for you.

because yoga is so much deeper than how it's been westernized as this you know way to exercise and sweat and it's just this other workout routine that we use when in actuality yoga was when yoga first emerged it was just the breath.

That was all you were doing is you were connecting to breath. It was pranayama. It was sitting up straight with your spine erect and it was breathing. It was opening up your chakras, your energy centers. And it was a connection between you were the connection between.

the the earth and the heavens or the earth and the sky the mother and the father however you want to look at it you're that bridge that portal and it's the breath and through yoga practices you can actually clear out energy that is stuck in your body have you ever done yoga or known of anyone else When they're doing yoga, you can have an emotional response if you allow yourself to actually feel that feeling like I know for me many times when I do very deep hip stretches so because there's so much energy stored in the hips that that energy can release during a yoga session.

And so that yoga for me was one of the commitments I made to myself every single day.

Evolving Morning Routines

It was a discipline that I did to feel better, not knowing the other energetic benefits, spiritual benefits, mental, emotional, all the benefits of it. I did that.

And then over time my routine changed. I started doing breath work um and even over time up until like now what I do is I have um a sense of like really being able to be in tune with my energy and knowing what I need.

This week, for instance, during the Leo moon, it was like calling to me to dance and to move more freely and flow and not be so, you know, disciplined with just sitting still, but to actually move my body to like make waves with my body and move around. And so. With a morning routine or if you have a specific Some people call it a morning ritual. A ritual is something that you pretty much repeat the same every day. um Like, for instance, if you go make your caffeine drink in the morning, like coffee or matcha or or whatever, um that's kind of a ritual that you do every day, right? So we want to start establish establishing rituals that are going to get us into our bodies and get us back into our heart.

get us out of our mind and into our bodies and our hearts so that we can face the day in a more grounded place no matter what comes up. Because if you go out into the world or you just go in the same room with your husband, partner, child,

coworker, whatever, and you haven't like actually like taken time to connect into yourself into your higher self, you are going to be letting yourself be ruled by your subconscious programming all day long. You are going to take things personally. You're well. This is my own experience, so I'm not going to project it and say you absolutely will, because we all have different subconscious programming, but it will be harder for you to to not be sucked into lower themes of consciousness unless you've done a whole bunch of work.

on yourself. If you've done a whole bunch of inner work on yourself, you might not need as much grounding in the morning. You might not need as much, you know, self soothing or just like being able to like get into the role of being straightforward and knowing where you're going in the day because you've already done so much

you already kind of know what to like expect in life and you'll be able to be able to witness whenever your ego starts talking to you. So like for instance you know before Chad and I, my husband, we have our own like some mornings we will do things together. We will do certain practices together.

or we will share time in the hot tub or the sauna or whatever but mainly we know the things that work for us like he without a doubt will do breath work no matter what he will do breath work he does the same exact breath work every single morning and to be honest it used to drive me crazy because as you know a woman who has tapped into like that real feminine energy and intuition of knowing what I need my stuff changes up like i know like i said earlier i need to dance sometimes i need to breathe sometimes i need to do yoga sometimes sometimes it's just going out and walking around slowly on the ground outside and i'm able to ground myself sometimes it's you know just doing lymphatic work or you know reprie repeating a certain prayer and i'm connected into my energy and i'm okay

for Chad he you know breathing is what really really helps him and doing the same one every day helps him and I remember at a time I was trying to talk him into trying to do these other things but you know what his nervous system and his ego wasn't ready for that yet so just a side note if your partner is doing something or anyone else is doing something that's working for them just let him be let him be and do what they Let them do what they do to connect, whether or not like you you think it's right or wrong. Just leave them be.

And um so yeah, the establishing a morning routine, especially if you are at the beginning of your journey.

or you are yeah you're so like in the process of doing inner work you're in the process of you know beginning to dive deeper into your own so subconscious programming it is so important for you to do something every single morning for yourself even if it's just a fight like dedicate a small amount of time or and then some days like let's say you have a you know a job that you do need to leave the home for or that you have to get online for or whatever make sure you do it before that if you have kids if you have you know a full life still find a

a small time in the morning, a short time in the morning that you can dedicate to yourself because when you're dedicating that time to yourself, you're dedicating that time to the creator, to source, to the divine. And that is so important because if you are just allow yourself to go on And you haven't been able to get to a point where you really are conscious when your ego starts taking over or when your nervous system becomes unregulated, then that can just derail your whole day. But if you have the ability to get yourself regulated, get yourself

tapped in and and conscious that you are the witness of your life instead of the reactor, then you are going to have so much better of a day and you're going to actually be able to see so many other awarenesses in your life.

Finding Time for Self-Care

And it's also just keeping the promise to yourself that you are worthy of being taken care of.

And let's just say, OK, well, this morning there was just too many things that I had to take care of. There was, you know, there was emergencies. There was things that were were going on and I couldn't get to it. That's OK. Don't beat yourself up. But find another time when you can, even if, like, let's say you're in the car and you drive and you have to stop at a store.

Or you have to, you're pulling up to work. Do ah a breath work session or just put like right now, wherever you are, if you're driving, don't do it. Cause like, I'm going to ask you to put your hand on your belly and your hand on your heart. But let's just say you're just sitting here listening to this podcast right now, wherever you are right now, do this exercise with me. Okay.

you're gonna put your hand on your your belly or your womb space and on your heart and you're just gonna hold right there and then you're just gonna breathe in for a four count one two three four You're gonna hold it. Four, three, two, one. You're gonna exhale. One, two, three, four. And at the bottom, hold it. Four, three, two, one. And just repeat this breath. And if the four seconds is is too much, do two seconds.

But just do this breathing practice until you feel like you are centered in your body, until you feel that your brain isn't saying, don't do that. You don't have time for that right now. Don't do that. That's not ah like you got to go. You have to be at this place at five thirty. You don't have time for that. Do it until that voice stops telling you that. Do it until you can know that it's OK.

the more that you can do that, the more grounded and stable you're going to be, the more clear you're going to see, the less negative type of of reactions are going to occur. You're actually probably going to have a lot better conversations with people when you walk into that store, when you walk into your workplace, when you walk into your home, you because you are going to be less reactive, you're going to be more grounded, and you're just going to be able to breathe again. Your body needs breath. It's a vital. So

Whatever is calling to you for your morning, what works for me might not work for you. You don't have to have anything special to have a morning routine.

But if it helps you, one thing that that I think is kind of a fun thing to do, if you have any type of oracle cards or tarot cards, you could always make a little ritual where you pull one of those in the morning and just kind of meditate with that card.

It's so amazing every time I've ever pulled from any type of oracle deck or tarot deck or anything like that. I have the message has always been like, whoa, how did this card match up with what I need to hear right now? So that's another thing that you can do. And then on other days, you know,

If you don't if you do have more time, just yeah give yourself that time. Give yourself that time for that sacred moments with yourself.
