Grumpy Old Prop: Okay.
jarrod_dyke: Hey everybody. Welcome back. It is the fancy rugby Yanks. My name is Jared Dyke. We're back. Literally we were ready to do this last week and shit hit the fan. And I was, and I was already on the struggle bus for that day and didn't actually end today too, but I was already really on the struggle bus yesterday because I was juggling the the dog and the kid solo. And then your child decided today's a good day to be a dick. but
jarrod_dyke: Hmm.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah. If it's that loud, then it's probably a bad thing.
jarrod_dyke: It was like 40 minutes. I was like, let's take an eight.
jarrod_dyke: It's just how it is. It's just how it goes some days. Cool.
jarrod_dyke: All right. Well, I definitely need one of these today.
jarrod_dyke: So crack this thing open.
jarrod_dyke: Find us on your favorite podcast to have shared download rate review.
jarrod_dyke: Feedback. Always welcome.
jarrod_dyke: do do, do, do, do, but man named Brady.
jarrod_dyke: Oh no, not that one.
jarrod_dyke: Okay.
jarrod_dyke: Mm -hmm.
jarrod_dyke: but
jarrod_dyke: but Every time you do that, you think of that. but ah Shit, she was right. Oh, well. Listen, I drink out of a can when I'm not, when I'm not.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah. Where'd you get that? Kid, we have to have a conversation later.
jarrod_dyke: and ah Make sure that you buy a good friend, George, the fancy rugby geek of beer or, um, coffee, however you wish to see fit.
jarrod_dyke: especially if you're doing well in your competitions as they all wind down, even in URC, which we obviously we don't do, but still, he does the good information for that as well.
jarrod_dyke: and If you're winning that, then you probably have him to thank to at least a point.
jarrod_dyke: So go ahead and buy that man a coffee.
jarrod_dyke: There is no discrimination here on this podcast nor should there be in sports or in life.
jarrod_dyke: um Two bits today. First of all, ah good bit. Good things happen for the Venetius Jr. Racism trial there over in, yeah, ah more or less and in Spain. Still worth talking about though.
jarrod_dyke: but
jarrod_dyke: Yeah.
jarrod_dyke: Right. Yeah. I wish, I wish we could do that here.
jarrod_dyke: Exactly. Exactly.
jarrod_dyke: So there's, um, I'm sure that we're not the only place that has it, but there's discrimination, um, uh, equality and include in inclusivity, um, diversity, basically statements that are included in a lot of, um, a lot of things, especially over here in the U S especially here in Massachusetts in like high school, uh, the high school I coach in particular,
jarrod_dyke: has people sign one before they sign up for sports.
jarrod_dyke: And I was asked by a parent of people that could be going into, that will be going into high school.
jarrod_dyke: Like, do they really make you do that? And my response at the time was, ah was a little just like, brush it off because it's not my client.
jarrod_dyke: It was someone else. I was asked to set my gym, um but it wasn't my client. And I was not about to piss someone off that I have no business what whatsoever. But My thoughts on it are, if you have a problem with it, then I don't want you at the high school anyway. So you don't have to do it. So, you know, and actually it's too bad because this person happened to have played rugby in colleges would have encouraged their kids to play rugby. But honestly, I don't want you on the team as, as a parent, if you find this to be a problem. So, you know, well, I think that's a huge violation.
jarrod_dyke: I'm like, I think you're an asshole, but you know that we can, we go we can go different ways with this whole thing.
jarrod_dyke: So I just wanted to, you know, get that out there. And, you know, I couldn't speak my mind at the time because I had to be ah in a professional environment, but at the time, like, Oh man, I really wanted to just be like, cool.
jarrod_dyke: You don't have to sign up and I don't want you. But again, um it's not my client. So I'm not trying to piss someone off.
jarrod_dyke: No, but you don't have to play either. So that's what that's out right there.
jarrod_dyke: Shockingly, they send their kids to private school. So.
jarrod_dyke: You know, not, not bashing private school overall, but like around here that, that tracks. And if we're honest, okay.
jarrod_dyke: Um, make sure that you grab our Patreon. Cause we, we all love it. We love all our patrons.
jarrod_dyke: We'll give them all a shout out.
jarrod_dyke: Um, when we do our last pod and make sure that they know that we, we care, we care about them.
jarrod_dyke: We appreciate the love that they show us.
jarrod_dyke: Um, if you want to jump on the bandwagon, we'd appreciate, excuse me, of course.
jarrod_dyke: Of course, totally reasonable. Would not blame you one single bit.
jarrod_dyke: Okay. We, we could not talk about it last week.
jarrod_dyke: So we're going to talk about it this week. The prime final. Do you know this game was ruined by a red card?
jarrod_dyke: It's all ruined.
jarrod_dyke: It was in, it was early in the game, earlyish in the game.
jarrod_dyke: It was what? like Something like that. Sounds right.
jarrod_dyke: You have to go find it. Yeah, it is.
jarrod_dyke: um Excuse me.
jarrod_dyke: There it is, 21.
jarrod_dyke: Yep.
jarrod_dyke: No Right
jarrod_dyke: Yep.
jarrod_dyke: Right.
jarrod_dyke: Yep.
jarrod_dyke: No, couldn't, couldn't at all.
jarrod_dyke: Couldn't at all. Um,
jarrod_dyke: Mm hmm. Until the very end, the very, very end.
jarrod_dyke: I was surprised by that, honestly, because he, this is like, this is the one good game he has and it happened to be in the final. So good for you. At least you stepped up in the right spot.
jarrod_dyke: I still think you scrap, but you know.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah, they they had multiple chances that they should have taken advantage of and they didn't.
jarrod_dyke: um
jarrod_dyke: Hates a 6 -2 split, both teams.
jarrod_dyke: Both teams ah ah really like had problems with it. You know, Ben Smith comes off for Tom James.
jarrod_dyke: you're Yeah, you're damn lucky George Furbank exists because otherwise you are caught, like totally.
jarrod_dyke: And then for the sake of, and for the sake of Bath, we were talking about it when the red card came out.
jarrod_dyke: like
jarrod_dyke: I put Gallagher, if I had had three backs on the bench, but I didn't, you know, so it's like, Oh, you know, the and you can make new arrangements, so on and so forth.
jarrod_dyke: So no, I, you know, they have to sacrifice probably their best ball carrier with Alfie Barbary.
jarrod_dyke: And, you know, tell me that that didn't impact the game. Cause it did, you know, and it's, it, and we'll talk about another six to split it later on. And it just, yeah just blah. when can we just stop pretending this is like the greatest setup ever because it's not it's kind of the opposite actually.
jarrod_dyke: there Yeah, there's still loads of quality in this fucking game though. Like, yeah, yeah. Yep.
jarrod_dyke: or anybody else, but yeah.
jarrod_dyke: Right. Right. Yeah. I agreed. Um, but the, the mirror try though, the guys, I know his name's horse, but it's not wrong either.
jarrod_dyke: Guys, absolutely unbelievable. And didn't he put a 50 22 in as well? That just, that was from a horse leg as well.
jarrod_dyke: Like, yeah.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah, he had a, you know, in a losing effort, probably damn near close player of the match for, for bath.
jarrod_dyke: So I, yeah, if they had come away with it on the other side of it, that would have been awesome for them. Yeah.
jarrod_dyke: Hmm.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah.
jarrod_dyke: No. And I think it's, I mean, if we really want to watch it, I think it is on the rugby network replay, but still it's like really, really like.
jarrod_dyke: And then just went right to it.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah.
jarrod_dyke: I do. I do hope the rugby network fixes that deal. Cause that's a dog show one. That was a really shit one. I think they, they would have been mo more better off staying with just keeping it on the, on the channel.
jarrod_dyke: And I appreciate that. This is what ah one thing I do appreciate about the rugby network is though.
jarrod_dyke: They do have, um, inner workings with the TV, um, channels over here that, which is what flow does not have.
jarrod_dyke: So like you can't, we can't watch the champions cup final on TV and we should be able to.
jarrod_dyke: You know, so it's, it's pretty rough.
jarrod_dyke: Right.
jarrod_dyke: Yep.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah.
jarrod_dyke: There was.
jarrod_dyke: It was like a, it was like a documentary, I think, which was on a replay, obviously something else equally stupid.
jarrod_dyke: So yeah, I would like them to maybe, I think I would like premiership to be a little bit more selective and which games go on Fox. And then, all right, we're going to show these three games.
jarrod_dyke: or we're going to show these four games. And so I think they ended up showing what, nine or 10 this year, we're going to show these four games.
jarrod_dyke: I want, we want you to show these four games, but we want you to show them in their entirety on Fox Sports. Like don't, don't cut them off.
jarrod_dyke: Don't. Okay. Also, can we get a halftime show? It's actually a halftime show and not corpse talking about matches that were from three two, three weeks ago. ah
jarrod_dyke: ah You know what, you know, who I like was in commentary for,
jarrod_dyke: Not this past weekend, the weekend before the freeze X game was will Hooley.
jarrod_dyke: I thought he did a great job. And I think that is someone they can push forward for commentary a lot more. And I think good things would happen.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah. Yeah.
jarrod_dyke: Solar shows are hard. They really are poor fella.
jarrod_dyke: Oh, the presentation is horrible.
jarrod_dyke: I mean, he's got a big head. He does have a big head.
jarrod_dyke: It does beat the damn loud set up though.
jarrod_dyke: But that that's hard to beat either. I think we beat it. I think you and I beat the damn loud set up honestly.
jarrod_dyke: with the crease right in the middle. and He's got this terrible lighting behind him. And that's like, like, dude, if you have that terrible lighting, you need someone to like, come in and do your makeup or something.
jarrod_dyke: Like, no joke for fucking hell.
jarrod_dyke: Um, so we got another thing to do for the end of the year and that is our premier ship 15 of the year.
jarrod_dyke: Uh, so Lou said, uh, I don't know.
jarrod_dyke: This was a kind of a toss up for a lot of, a lot of things. I wonder. I wonder if, I don't know if we're going to have the same one. I do want to give a shout to Finn Baxter, who I thought had a really good season, starting to come around and be the things that the Quinn's need him to be.
jarrod_dyke: You know, especially since Joe Marlar is eventually going to have to walk away soon.
jarrod_dyke: But yeah, but mine, mine was Alex Waller for the Saints.
jarrod_dyke: Well, there you go.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah, no, it's fair. Yeah, and they they both did. I think, you know, this was Alex Waller's last lets go and I'm glad he he saved his best for, well, not his best best, but some of his best for last.
jarrod_dyke: Yep, no doubt about it. ah Hook, yeah I mean, i think you I think you know who my guy's gonna be because I've been chatting him up though.
jarrod_dyke: Langdon. Nice. All right. We're on it. So that speaks to the play style of Saints as well, because would you have an I'm sorry, sale.
jarrod_dyke: Also, fuck you.
jarrod_dyke: um Would you and I have noticed Langdon last year that much?
jarrod_dyke: No. And It's the place. It's just that it's what they do in when when they're an attack. And I'm sorry. Yes. and There's there's more emphasis on attack these days. Fucking deal with it.
jarrod_dyke: Get over it.
jarrod_dyke: All right. It's more fun to watch that than a three six three game.
jarrod_dyke: Let's be honest.
jarrod_dyke: Mm hmm.
jarrod_dyke: But then startleton either.
jarrod_dyke: Right.
jarrod_dyke: Well, he and Melinda started the year because Mattivacy was away and he never let it go really.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah, he never let it go.
jarrod_dyke: You wouldn't have noticed him that that much, honestly.
jarrod_dyke: No, no. Yeah. I mean those really the, the stable that they have at sale is actually pretty good considering it's creepy Taylor and, and, you know, LCD with, you know, me, me biting my lip a little bit on that one.
jarrod_dyke: Um, No,
jarrod_dyke: I think we're going to have the same tight head.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah. Tom's to talk. Uh,
jarrod_dyke: What can you say about him? He just came in and made a huge impact on bath. And it obviously had big, big things happening elsewhere for them.
jarrod_dyke: And, you know, it takes, it takes attention off.
jarrod_dyke: Like, so well, Stuart Novano, when you have a guy that's just being an absolute nuisance to every team that's, he plays against and now he's, you know, tight head scoring tries the way he does.
jarrod_dyke: It's kind of stupid. So it's like, okay, how was this happening?
jarrod_dyke: Mm hmm.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah.
jarrod_dyke: Yep, agreed. Yeah, he's great.
jarrod_dyke: there Engine room. ah It's probably it's a Homer pick, but I picked Theo as one of them.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah, but I feel like every time he was in, he was he was just
jarrod_dyke: He was a problem. He's problematic. And I figured you're probably gonna pick someone more he than I did anyway.
jarrod_dyke: So that's okay.
jarrod_dyke: Uh, Batley from Bristol. Okay. That doesn't shock me.
jarrod_dyke: Yes, you did.
jarrod_dyke: Yes.
jarrod_dyke: Really did a great job this year for them, you know, and that made a name for himself.
jarrod_dyke: Worthy, totally worthy. I had him in my brain for sure, but totally worthy.
jarrod_dyke: And yeah, I, again, I picked, I picked Waller, you picked Coles.
jarrod_dyke: There we go.
jarrod_dyke: but
jarrod_dyke: I saw it more. Uh, but yeah, that, that was, yeah, no, Cole's no argument.
jarrod_dyke: He's played himself into England contention and and rightly so.
jarrod_dyke: And as long as I play him at lock and not six, he'll be fine back rows. I actually picked proper. I think what I believe are proper six, seven, eight.
jarrod_dyke: So, which is not my usual MO in this whole thing.
jarrod_dyke: I usually just go with the three back rows that I like the most and just plug them wherever the fuck I feel like it.
jarrod_dyke: um All right, so six.
jarrod_dyke: No argument. I have zero arguments against this whatsoever. No arguments whatsoever. he's
jarrod_dyke: Mm -hmm.
jarrod_dyke: He did. He did. So there was, there was one player that always made an impact for his team, no matter where he was, but he also almost always played six and that, and I picked Gonzo.
jarrod_dyke: no Yeah. Yeah. In terms of who the best back rower on Saracens was, it was probably him.
jarrod_dyke: And that says a lot. So I, yeah, I, I had to pick console and give them an up because that was a wonderful season. Thank you Irish. Um, yeah, that was, I wish, I don't know how we, how we got all of them, but I'm so glad we did. And he's, he's staying too. So, well,
jarrod_dyke: yep.
jarrod_dyke: Okay. Yep.
jarrod_dyke: Probably was explained this weekend too.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah.
jarrod_dyke: he He's probably, going unfortunately he's probably gonna get hurt during this tour and it sucks.
jarrod_dyke: Yep. Yeah. And they, and nobody will know. They will, their pipes says, Hey, I need a rest. They're going to say, Nope.
jarrod_dyke: And you have to like, you have to hold a gun to their chest and say, no, no, no, you sit.
jarrod_dyke: That's just how it is. Uh, my, my open side is also from London, but across the way there. And I went with Will Evans because it was number one, Kenningham got hurt.
jarrod_dyke: And that was huge for them.
jarrod_dyke: Like that was a problem that when that happened, I was like, Ooh, this could be bad news for them.
jarrod_dyke: Like overall, and Dom had a season.
jarrod_dyke: But also like the reason that Dom had a season was because there was still Will Evans in the back row for Quinn's and he made life actually quite easy on Dom Brant, the way he played his, and they had two back rows to wear worry about.
jarrod_dyke: And then Cunningham South started to come into his own and you know, really good things started to happen over at Quinn's just too bad they didn't sort it out quite fast enough.
jarrod_dyke: But yeah, no, I big up so Will Evans and I thought he had a great season. So good on him and hopefully they he keeps doing what he does.
jarrod_dyke: Dom. So as much as it pained me to put this player in, he was without a doubt the best back grower on his team. And I don't give a shit who the fuck you ask. um I put this allow in because in terms of who the best forward on that team was, it was him.
jarrod_dyke: And. And I thought he he should have played himself into any contention.
jarrod_dyke: The fact that it was rooted on him is robbery and just sheer stupidity.
jarrod_dyke: Get left out. No.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah, no. Yep, no, I thought it was good.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah, he said he's unfortunately.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah. I, I, yeah. And I, I don't, I don't, that's one thing for Townsend's sake.
jarrod_dyke: Like I still am wondering what the fuck Magnus Bradbury need to do to get picked over the likes of Matt Fagerson.
jarrod_dyke: Like, yeah, I saw that.
jarrod_dyke: Didn't make that much of a difference, but still, still, still, still, uh, nine is going to be interesting.
jarrod_dyke: We'd have two different, two, like the obvious, the two obvious ones where we have the same.
jarrod_dyke: I have been Spencer. ah Yeah.
jarrod_dyke: No. And we talked about a lot, you know, Alex Mitchell is like an always a, always a, yeah, no shit type of type of pick, but Ben Spencer as well.
jarrod_dyke: Like we talked about how he had, you know, he was told that you got to go do this. You got to do that. Not with Saracens. And if this isn't the season, he's done it. And thankfully he's been picked on this tour. He's not playing this weekend.
jarrod_dyke: I don't think, but, or is he he's on the bench. I think he's on the bench. Yeah, I mean, yeah, he's not going to be over Alex Mitchell. Mitchell's the incumbent, rightly so. um So he's going to be hard to knock off. But yeah, I think he'll get more minutes this summer, which will be great. And I think that p proved the season proves. What's that? Really? Well, it's Japan, so I'm not going to judge it too much.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah, he should be on the bench for the All -Box games, though. I know someone going to that. I'm like, fuck you.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah. Um, so yeah, and this is definitely him just saying, all right, I've done all those things.
jarrod_dyke: What now? So hopefully he gets his due.
jarrod_dyke: We talked about him already.
jarrod_dyke: Um, really there's two options here.
jarrod_dyke: Finner fin. I went with the one end fin and yeah.
jarrod_dyke: And that's, uh, that, that speaks to,
jarrod_dyke: His development obviously this year has just been immense and, you know, obviously having Dan Baker kind of put a shoulder, an arm around his shoulder for a little bit was helpful, but really he kind of, he's done it quite a bit on his own in a lot of ways.
jarrod_dyke: And that's yeah. Can't, can't create the kid enough.
jarrod_dyke: Mm -hmm.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah. Don't, don't do it. Anybody else's way.
jarrod_dyke: Do it your own. Take pieces of what works, but yeah. Find the things that you that are going to work for you. not yeah you're not You're not going to be a copy and paste ever. ah You're not going to be a Marcus. You're not going to be a Russell. You're going to be a Finn. And that's how it is.
jarrod_dyke: So good on him. Well done, kid.
jarrod_dyke: Midfield.
jarrod_dyke: I didn't. I put two guys down really fast with this one.
jarrod_dyke: Hmm.
jarrod_dyke: Ah.
jarrod_dyke: Geo Redpath and Lawrence.
jarrod_dyke: Nice.
jarrod_dyke: Good one. Good one.
jarrod_dyke: Not not arguing. I have I also have Ollie Lawrence.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah, I mean, shelter Benard, but that would have been Yeah,
jarrod_dyke: but I
jarrod_dyke: Uh, I went, I went with Cindy, a guy that we like, the anytime, anytime the Saracens didn't have him in the lineup, it was actually not as good.
jarrod_dyke: They were.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah, that's fair.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah. I mean, listen, he'd be a dynamite 12, just the same.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah, no doubt. No doubt about that. Red past is probably a better distributor. And that's probably why he belongs there, which speaks to me.
jarrod_dyke: Back three.
jarrod_dyke: Do you have two saints like I do?
jarrod_dyke: I do too. say I have slates in Freeman.
jarrod_dyke: Oh, all right.
jarrod_dyke: All right. ah Here we go.
jarrod_dyke: That's good. So slates should be a no brainer like ah definitely
jarrod_dyke: best, best back three player, one of the better players in the, in the season.
jarrod_dyke: But yeah, free Freeman to me, for me overall, and just the total grand scheme of the season looking at, and I know it's Prim, but looking at everything, like every big game that Freeman played in, he was immense.
jarrod_dyke: He had, he had a part to play and he did it to the end to power.
jarrod_dyke: He scored a try in the Prim final even like there was not many times where Tommy Freeman didn't
jarrod_dyke: make an impact on a big game for the saints.
jarrod_dyke: So that's why I had to put them in there.
jarrod_dyke: So, well, I have three minute full back because he's played there before at least. So my, my other wing is the, is the difference. Obviously.
jarrod_dyke: Maybe.
jarrod_dyke: Nope. I don't have that. Yep.
jarrod_dyke: May fail also.
jarrod_dyke: Yep. That's, and I was, I had him in my consideration, but I'd already picked this allow. So I was like, you know what? I'm not going to do both.
jarrod_dyke: who
jarrod_dyke: Mm hmm. Mm hmm.
jarrod_dyke: That might be true.
jarrod_dyke: that might be true
jarrod_dyke: That might be true.
jarrod_dyke: 100%.
jarrod_dyke: Nope.
jarrod_dyke: It's stuff on the way out.
jarrod_dyke: No,
jarrod_dyke: he
jarrod_dyke: did indeed.
jarrod_dyke: He did indeed. So I went with the, with the, with the token sale player with Tom Roebuck and node.
jarrod_dyke: And actually I was what waffling back and forth between Roebuck and Tyrone Green.
jarrod_dyke: I already had Will Evans in and I really wanted to give Will Evans the shout.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah. Shout to Tyrone Green, who had an awesome season for Quinn's and a lot of the things that they did that were good were based around him. But, um, yeah, no, I thought rob robot had a great year.
jarrod_dyke: And again, a team that doesn't not this similar to if they will also grant, he's a little more explosive, but a team that doesn't play a type of attack and a type of rugby that is going to lend itself to opening things up, but he still,
jarrod_dyke: found ways to make impacts and in attack and and do good things. So yeah, Tom Robust and the other of the back three in my in my back three of the year.
jarrod_dyke: There is.
jarrod_dyke: Mm hmm. It's true.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah.
jarrod_dyke: Nope.
jarrod_dyke: He's banged up. He was obviously missing at points and yeah, it was, you know, definitely had some hangover.
jarrod_dyke: Some of these players definitely had hangover from World Cup.
jarrod_dyke: There's no question about that.
jarrod_dyke: Hmm. Yeah. There was some dud performances.
jarrod_dyke: Um, and if I had to pick a coach of the year, it would be Van Grand.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah.
jarrod_dyke: No, you're not, and you're not wrong. It doesn't take away the things he's done for that team this season. No way. So yeah.
jarrod_dyke: And obviously Fen Russell helps too. That does help.
jarrod_dyke: Let's be honest.
jarrod_dyke: It does help.
jarrod_dyke: All right, let's jump over the border. Before we get into the semi finals, just awful, awful news coming out yesterday.
jarrod_dyke: Connor Garden Bashup passing away at what, 25?
jarrod_dyke: He's got two kids, just horrible, horrible news. And obviously, it's rocked the rugby community in general, but it's certainly in New Zealand.
jarrod_dyke: just
jarrod_dyke: man just I can't tell you how, you know, Florida i was when I saw that. And I was just like, this is, this is like, no way.
jarrod_dyke: That's that.
jarrod_dyke: That's
jarrod_dyke: Yeah.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah, it's Yeah, I it's just so hard to think about him being gone, having seen him played play what three weeks ago?
jarrod_dyke: It's like um Yeah, I the words escape right now.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah, and Connor's family as well, obviously. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Poor Josh, poor Jackson and his family. You know, obviously that's just, how that's just really terrible. Yeah. Yeah. So I'm, I think he's, I think his team's done those. Hopefully he was, he was home at the very least.
jarrod_dyke: Cause that's a, that's a horrible thing to do beginning when you're thousands of miles away. Um, but to the better, the better of it, at least, um, move on with the show.
jarrod_dyke: blues Brumby's. I mean, Brumby's kind of just showed their hands that we don't really want this too much because we're just gonna kick it post.
jarrod_dyke: And away we go.
jarrod_dyke: Nada.
jarrod_dyke: Uh, was that the whole arc? Try, hold on.
jarrod_dyke: There you go.
jarrod_dyke: Exactly.
jarrod_dyke: yeah
jarrod_dyke: Yeah.
jarrod_dyke: Yep.
jarrod_dyke: Mm hmm.
jarrod_dyke: Indeed.
jarrod_dyke: No.
jarrod_dyke: No.
jarrod_dyke: but No, no. No, you don't.
jarrod_dyke: Yep.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah. And I do want to kind of because the two tube is chasing, you know, most forward tries in a season four or super rugby.
jarrod_dyke: There's a huge difference between what Hoskins to two, two is doing in this season and what those other players on that list.
jarrod_dyke: Well, I think all of them were hookers and grand.
jarrod_dyke: Some of them are more dynamic like Cody Taylor, Malcolm marks, very dynamic hookers.
jarrod_dyke: But then you have like fellow fine guy who just basically just sat in the caboose of every mall and fell over the line.
jarrod_dyke: Like this is just so much different than that. So two, two is clearly a, a monster probably should be the all box number eight. And.
jarrod_dyke: We'll see.
jarrod_dyke: Well, yeah, we'll see that, but yeah, there'll be some things happening, but yeah, he's right there.
jarrod_dyke: Um, he's yeah, he he's been great. And I've been a huge fan of him for a couple of years now. So I'm i'm glad he's kind of getting the, the plaudits for it and takes pressure off Delta Papa Lee back there as well.
jarrod_dyke: So nice, for nice for him. Yeah. This is a, this, this is a really good team and there's no question about it.
jarrod_dyke: If I haven't said it yet, I said it a thousand times, James Dolman is dog shit.
jarrod_dyke: He's horrible. And that's not just cause it's never because in this situation, it's not because it's a fricking team of mine. I don't give a shit. I didn't have a dog in this race. Get the fuck out of here. He's terrible. Like keep him nowhere near anything valuable.
jarrod_dyke: Hmm. Mm -hmm.
jarrod_dyke: And I was looking at it. I was like, are they looking at this? They should be looking at this. Why are they looking at this?
jarrod_dyke: I was like, what is that?
jarrod_dyke: That is horrible.
jarrod_dyke: They did. They really did.
jarrod_dyke: Mm -hmm.
jarrod_dyke: Not a chance, dude. Fuck off. Fuck off. No way, man. Yeah, that's so bad.
jarrod_dyke: But i look honestly, it did you know, in his case, it didn't impact the match.
jarrod_dyke: I think most people would fairly say.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah, maybe, maybe you get some better luck running away from you.
jarrod_dyke: Hmm.
jarrod_dyke: Well, I woke up kid woke me up early on Saturday morning and I was like, I guess I'm going to watch this match before I went to work and didn't really start my day off.
jarrod_dyke: Awesome.
jarrod_dyke: And I was like, but I was, I can, you can say anything you want about the decisions, whatever.
jarrod_dyke: You cannot spot a team like the chief 17 point lead and think good things are going to happen.
jarrod_dyke: They didn't, you know, And, and, you know, the chief tried like hell to try and get to him and a little bit on just Gardner too, but.
jarrod_dyke: The TJ, I was like, okay, that's probably not the right decision there, but I needed everything to go that way, the way, that way. And that still wasn't enough. So.
jarrod_dyke: if that's, if that's not obvious.
jarrod_dyke: And again, hates a fucking six to split.
jarrod_dyke: Billy Proctor was broken. And that is clear.
jarrod_dyke: And when you don't have a fucking sub to bring on for him, like we're, I assume Kenny Naholo is healthy.
jarrod_dyke: Where the fuck is he? Like he should have been in this team.
jarrod_dyke: get rid of f freaking Flanders or Dewey. I honestly don't care which one of them and put him on the bench and voila.
jarrod_dyke: We have an answer for why built this for Billy Proctor. Cause he, he was, it was clearly impacting his play and I love Billy Proctor.
jarrod_dyke: And I think he's been awesome this year, but no, no, that's not what we should have been doing.
jarrod_dyke: Fucking hell.
jarrod_dyke: Oh, I couldn't believe it.
jarrod_dyke: I was like, what are you doing? This is the wrong person to bring off.
jarrod_dyke: Like 100 % the wrong person to bring off. Bring shields off. Like, yeah, again, you don't need two extra loose forwards in there. Shields can come off. You can have the hollow on the bench or basically any other wing that we have because we have a couple of really good ones and fucking, what like, God damn it.
jarrod_dyke: Ugh, annoyed the shit out of me.
jarrod_dyke: Oh. I was like, why didn't the hurricanes pick on him more? like I would have been like, you my bitch.
jarrod_dyke: like Why aren't you running out this guy?
jarrod_dyke: He's clearly done.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah.
jarrod_dyke: Come on, guys. You're killing me over here.
jarrod_dyke: ah He was probably pissed. He's like, what are you guys doing to me over here?
jarrod_dyke: Yeah. Some are not here guys. Like that way, like ah complete opposite direction of me, please go away.
jarrod_dyke: Oh, contested scrums. I was like, well, I had, oh, I, when, when he was broken, I was like, we're going on contested.
jarrod_dyke: I can already feel it.
jarrod_dyke: Cause they had already, Cause they pulled Tonkyah early and I was like, yeah, this is going to go into, as soon as you drop a hooker early, it's bad news.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah. Oh, I know. I know. but I'm just saying as soon as that happens, it's like, yeah, it's not going to go well.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah,
jarrod_dyke: yeah
jarrod_dyke: no shit.
jarrod_dyke: No, no, especially if it's the one that you're supposed to be standing and stabilizing on.
jarrod_dyke: Not good.
jarrod_dyke: Not good at all.
jarrod_dyke: A hundred percent.
jarrod_dyke: This was the Chiefs deserved it. You know, there was interruptions to their lineup right before the kickoff as well.
jarrod_dyke: They lost ah Stevenson right ah like very shortly.
jarrod_dyke: And then they obviously had to lose Tanki Ajo mid like very early in the match.
jarrod_dyke: And the reaction from them was obviously huge.
jarrod_dyke: And so 100 percent.
jarrod_dyke: This is, this final is deserved for them. So I feel no anger or more or anything like that about this.
jarrod_dyke: that They deserve this.
jarrod_dyke: Uh, I listen, I'm still happy. I've learned this. ah I learned this this year when I was coaching the kids, like you can still have an awesome season and not be at the top. Only one team is going to get to the summit.
jarrod_dyke: You can't just measure it by just that. It's hard.
jarrod_dyke: Quite a bit. Yeah.
jarrod_dyke: Mm -hmm. Mm -hmm.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah.
jarrod_dyke: Blah. Yeah. And I looked at it. I was like, please tell me there's something wrong in that. Nope, there wasn't. I was like, damn it.
jarrod_dyke: Once.
jarrod_dyke: No, I was hoping there was, and there wasn't.
jarrod_dyke: Jacobson's, I think.
jarrod_dyke: Oh, so here's the thing with that and good on city team makes me the gamble it paid off.
jarrod_dyke: Cameron made the wrong decision not to give that he he's trying to go around the corner of a prop like go around the corner of the fucking prop and then give dummy like I was so mad.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah, the gap the gap was going to be was the area. yeah Well, that's what I was saying like, take
jarrod_dyke: take it because you're going to, you're running through the hand of a prop who better be the strongest prop ever.
jarrod_dyke: Otherwise you're he's not getting you. And instead through, you know, I get it. It's Jody Barrett. You want to give it to give the ball to him, but like through then give it to him and he'll be happily happy to run away with you.
jarrod_dyke: You know, so it it really was just, and Cameron's not made many bad decisions this year, but you know, the, the, the decisions in a semi -final are,
jarrod_dyke: very much under a microscope. And unfortunately, he made a pretty bad decision and it cost him. It cost him real bad. So that was a 10, 12 point swing easily.
jarrod_dyke: Mm hmm. Yeah.
jarrod_dyke: Clearly not.
jarrod_dyke: Right, right, right Don't don't need them
jarrod_dyke: All right. Well, it's, it was saying, listen, credit to your boys. And if it's not going to be me, I fucking hope it to you.
jarrod_dyke: I actually, so I, and we'll, we'll talk about the, we're going to talk about the game in a second here. I talked to Mitch Jacobson.
jarrod_dyke: Yes. On Sunday, asked him about asking about Luke and he said, Oh yeah, he's all excited.
jarrod_dyke: I told him that you and I obviously we're betting on it and dudada he's like, Oh, can I come over to the chief side?
jarrod_dyke: I was like, One game I will. ah But he was a good sport about it. He was all about it. I thought that was awesome. Yeah. So speaking of free Jack's pull away.
jarrod_dyke: ah Before we get into that though, we were, we've been banging the drum for her and we missed it and shame on us for missing it.
jarrod_dyke: But Amelia Luciano got her first referee job as in the MLR and, you know, was kind of an easy one. Houston against Anthem, one of the best teams against hands down the worst. um No.
jarrod_dyke: Right. I wish this had happened like two years ago, but take it when you get it sometimes. So I hope i do hope that leads to more for her because um I was talking about um the officials with one of the other high school coaches that was playing in the state finals on Saturday and
jarrod_dyke: He was like, he didn't have Amelia.
jarrod_dyke: He had somebody else. And he's like, I would have killed that Amelia.
jarrod_dyke: I think we would have won that game by a mile if we had had her, not the other guy. I was like, yeah, it helps.
jarrod_dyke: They won anyway. So he didn't have that much.
jarrod_dyke: But he's like, yeah, I think the accuracy of the cause would have been a lot more bang on if it had been Amelia.
jarrod_dyke: I was like, that's fair. That's fair. So she's obviously made a huge impact in the community as well. So I do hope that she continues to get more games because she is quite good.
jarrod_dyke: She really is. Anywho, to the game, she was on the sideline for free decks, you know, kind of floundered a little bit to start the damn thing, but eventually pulled it out of their ass.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah.
jarrod_dyke: I'd say so.
jarrod_dyke: Mm -hmm
jarrod_dyke: Yep, huh scrummies do not have cloud on it, but you know Different story for a different day, I suppose
jarrod_dyke: yeah yeah Yep.
jarrod_dyke: Yeah.
jarrod_dyke: No.
jarrod_dyke: We'll see how it goes this weekend. They're going down to New Orleans. That's gonna I think that's gonna decide the conference right there in terms of home field.
jarrod_dyke: Yep.
jarrod_dyke: grant We have anthem coming back but
jarrod_dyke: Golda are seven points behind us.
jarrod_dyke: Mm hmm.
jarrod_dyke: Mm hmm.
jarrod_dyke: Oh,
jarrod_dyke: Oh, really?
jarrod_dyke: Hmm.
jarrod_dyke: Hmm.
jarrod_dyke: I mean, that that really, that was the best team suited to push and they haven't, they haven't died this year at all. They really haven't.
jarrod_dyke: Obviously they beat us back here, but like, yeah. And if that, if that wasn't like, at least the obvious, like, you know, white flag, red red flag, whatever that they were the team to potentially push us, uh, in the East, then I don't know what else would be.
jarrod_dyke: So the fact that they've just kind of let a lot of things go sideways on them just means, yeah, unfortunately, they're probably not going to really do the things that they want to do.
jarrod_dyke: And that's too bad for them.
jarrod_dyke: So that's that.
jarrod_dyke: All right. We are going to jump over to fancy corner. This is going to be a brief one, by the way, folks. So if you're looking for a quick one, we got you.
jarrod_dyke: But Ben and I are going to head over there one second.
jarrod_dyke: Hold on. Come on. like ah
jarrod_dyke: um But yeah, Ben and I got to head over there in just a second here. But if you're not going to join us over on the fancy corner, We do appreciate you for listening to us babble and letting us talk into your ear for a little bit. What is going on with this? There we go. I don't know.
jarrod_dyke: No. i' Well, we've talked about it. I've had a pretty rough day. So, but there we go. That's what I wanted. Um, anyway, but we're going to head over there. Um, if you're not going to join us over there, appreciate you letting us babble into your ear for a bit. Uh, we'll catch you all next week and have a good one. all just
