Jarrod Dyke: Hey everybody, welcome back. It is the Fancy Rugby Yanks. My name is Jared Dyke.
Grumpy Old Prop: I'm Ben Glazer.
Jarrod Dyke: Woo! Alright, we are diving right into it. We're doing rankings for the Super Rugby Final on Superbrew. Um, oof. I mean, we don't get the the luxury of picking Alatoa, so it's gonna be... it' It's probably goingnna be Tamati Williams and then your favorite prop from the other three, right?
Grumpy Old Prop: I probably.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: think Tamati Williams' ownership is about to go through the roof.
Grumpy Old Prop: Likely. i mean, especially if I'm waiting for it to load. I couldn't. I was I was on the in the backs. But um yeah, I have Alatoa.
Jarrod Dyke: That's right.
Grumpy Old Prop: So I didn't I didn't pick up to my two Williams.
Jarrod Dyke: I did too.
Grumpy Old Prop: But that's an easy one for one.
Jarrod Dyke: Oh, I had Tamati Williams until he got hurt.
Grumpy Old Prop: Not hard.
Jarrod Dyke: That was my only problem.
Grumpy Old Prop: Oh, that's what. it Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: There was that, too.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, he missed last because he was hurt. um
Grumpy Old Prop: That is correct.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, but we'll see what my we'll see what the balance of the team is.
Grumpy Old Prop: I had him and then.
Jarrod Dyke: I think if the balance of the team, because it's such a small margin between Newell and Norris and there's an unlimited budget, so that's not a big deal.
Grumpy Old Prop: hmm.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: um Then your team limit isn't limited right in this round either. So it's just a about matter of you know, how's the balance feel of your team? You know, do you have a ton chiefs?
Grumpy Old Prop: Mm-hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: Do you need to balance it out with another Crusader or vice versa? So.
Jarrod Dyke: um I think this one's going to be interesting. Taylor or Tonkiaho?
Grumpy Old Prop: I like Takiyaho.
Jarrod Dyke: think I think both are valid, honestly.
Grumpy Old Prop: um
Jarrod Dyke: i think there's don't think there's a wrong answer necessarily.
Grumpy Old Prop: No, um but Takiyahu did have more than a point per game um higher, and then but also came from the bench in a lot of games. So if you look at starting, um if you just look at that starts, there were only two matches where Takiyahu didn't get to 10 points, and a whole bunch. He had one, two.
Grumpy Old Prop: i mean, he had one off the bench where he had 16, so he's he's doing well um with that.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Grumpy Old Prop: Let me see Taylor. um Yeah, he came off the bench once with an 11.5, but then he had less than 10 points, two, three, four, five times. was only one under five, so it's like this floor, obviously the floor is low. He did have a one match worth with 22.5 points, but it was the Highlanders, so take that for what it's worth.
Grumpy Old Prop: um and the Oh, his lowest point point total of the season was he started against the Chiefs at home in round 13 and only had one and a half points. So take that for what it's worth as well.
Jarrod Dyke: well Okay. so
Grumpy Old Prop: Whereas Takayahu that game, let's look into that. He came off the bench and scored 10 at Christchurch.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay.
Grumpy Old Prop: So been there, done that kind of thing.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. I think, and I think for for a man, i think the Chiefs hooker stable in general is a little bit better than, but I did like the more in honor this year, the the guy that they were playing for quite a bit of the year for the Crusaders, he was pretty good as well.
Jarrod Dyke: But yeah, and be interesting. ah Engine room. you going to pick your favorite lock that's not Viye? And by that I mean Scott Barrett.
Grumpy Old Prop: um Yeah, I probably am.
Jarrod Dyke: You are. not I know he's not your favorite guy.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. No, he's well, I mean, I'm not against him. It's just that like, and I don't think that'll come into this game because as I said, you know, we've been saying he's more of ah he gets bored and does something stupid
Grumpy Old Prop: more than he's a no, um, no, he will not be bored.
Jarrod Dyke: I'd imagine there's not a reason to get bored in this.
Grumpy Old Prop: Um, but the thing is, the question is, is he going to do something stupid anyway? I don't know. um
Jarrod Dyke: Possibility.
Grumpy Old Prop: possibly.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: So just
Jarrod Dyke: Keep that in mind. Hmm.
Grumpy Old Prop: yeah, bear that bear that in the back of your head as as you you make your selections is that, you know, he he does get but he he does get a lot of points and I don't I don't see this coming down to ah a Barrett yellow.
Grumpy Old Prop: I don't I don't see him catching a yellow in this game. I think the stakes are too high and he's going want to. You know, have something to say the whole, you know, all 80, not just. 50 or so.
Jarrod Dyke: 70. Yeah. um Back row. Leo Willey. Probably Satiti.
Grumpy Old Prop: Then
Jarrod Dyke: And then... and
Grumpy Old Prop: them we're throwing darts.
Jarrod Dyke: as as As they once said in Dewar's My Car. ah And then...
Grumpy Old Prop: And then I mean, look, to me, it's flip a coin between Luke Jacobson, Christie, and maybe Finau.
Jarrod Dyke: And then...
Grumpy Old Prop: I don't know. Blackadder hasn't been scoring all that great. Let me see how he did.
Jarrod Dyke: I just thought of a Krieger moment from Archer.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: And he says, flip a coin.
Jarrod Dyke: I'm not going to get into it now, but I can't stop laughing either.
Grumpy Old Prop: if
Jarrod Dyke: Damn it. Damn new create you, Krieger. Oh, shit. I mean, let's see. Jacobson and Christie are like not even a half point difference per game.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: So that's...
Grumpy Old Prop: So it's it's really down to those two.
Jarrod Dyke: that and And really...
Grumpy Old Prop: And maybe Finau, who's little bit behind, but still, I don't know. i'm not i'm on Because he's he's also a little bit feast or famine. So, because he's had he's had multiple games of over 15 points. One, two, three, four.
Grumpy Old Prop: One of them from the bench. um And then another couple over 10 points too. so But at the same time, then he could also just be incredibly mid- He's had a couple of games under five.
Jarrod Dyke: Well, maybe you pick upside at that point though as well with yeah with the other guys already in there.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: And, you know, we talked about it with,
Grumpy Old Prop: Right. Exactly.
Jarrod Dyke: um Williams and and, you know, who you pick at prop, it could come down to that as well. What's the balance your team? How are you feeling about that? Do you need, you know, another Crusader or you would you rather are another Chief?
Jarrod Dyke: Really what it comes down to.
Grumpy Old Prop: Mm-hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah. No, but i think I think personally myself, I prefer to pick upside, so that's probably where I'll go.
Grumpy Old Prop: I mean, it's not the word. Yeah. like Again, that's why I listed those three because it's like go with the guys who are probably going to get you, you know, steady score, not great. Or the guy who, you know, could go either way. At this point, you're <unk>re looking for any differentiator.
Jarrod Dyke: Ratamara or Hotham?
Grumpy Old Prop: Radama.
Jarrod Dyke: Playing for the better team, probably.
Grumpy Old Prop: I think so. I mean, so Hotham eight points when they played. um Let's see.
Grumpy Old Prop: Radema had 12. twelve
Jarrod Dyke: Twelve, yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: So in in this, you know maybe not this stage, but this matchup earlier, you know, a couple weeks ago.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay. Yep.
Jarrod Dyke: Justify the reasoning behind not starting DMACC.
Grumpy Old Prop: you don't want to get the maximum points.
Jarrod Dyke: Doesn't sound like sound reasoning.
Grumpy Old Prop: I mean, it's not, yeah, it's not the best strategy. Let's put it that way.
Jarrod Dyke: No.
Grumpy Old Prop: um Because no matter what, D-Mac's going to get kicking points and he's going to run it a lot. Like Rihanna, let me see. are Like, first off, he hasn't been scoring all that great.
Grumpy Old Prop: and he doesn't score all that well outside of the tee.
Grumpy Old Prop: Whereas you look at D-Mac and his scores are very balanced. Last week he had 44 with 22 off the tee. So he had 22 points just in whatever. he's you know
Jarrod Dyke: in open play yeah
Grumpy Old Prop: He's looking around like 50% of his points are coming off the tee. you know Maybe a little bit higher in some some games than others, but...
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, that that that's scary depending on which end of the spectrum and your your points are on. But obviously in the case of DMACC where he's scoring 30, 40 points most games, that's what you want.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right.
Grumpy Old Prop: So, yeah, you want to go DMACC here. Like, it's it's bad enough that you might consider... No, you're not going to consider giving him the C instead of the K. Shut up.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, it's hard. Yeah. Yeah, do you do you pick both Chiefs centers?
Grumpy Old Prop: Yes.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay. I don't see a reason to pick NR, let's put it that way. So you're choosing between those two guys and Havili.
Grumpy Old Prop: Right. Right.
Grumpy Old Prop: And Heavily, it's still...
Jarrod Dyke: Who i like as a player, by the way. just But yeah, for fantasy-wise, it's probably not going to do you the good that you want.
Grumpy Old Prop: mean, he did get 10 points against the Chiefs. Let me see how...
Jarrod Dyke: don't think I'm all played.
Grumpy Old Prop: Ronald in that matchup. And... Tupai had 10.5, so...
Grumpy Old Prop: you know i'm not going to I'm not going to stress it if you go heavily as a, again, that same kind of, if you want to do the changeup, but I don't know that you should, I know if you'd have them on your team in the first place.
Jarrod Dyke: Right. um So interesting for a fantasy perspective change for this week for Crusaders. They went with Mack and Springer and not Fiocchi.
Jarrod Dyke: I don't know if Fiocchi's hurt, which I'm guessing he's not. I don't remember seeing him come off last week. But I mean, when Springer's played, he has scored well.
Jarrod Dyke: And granted, some of it ballooned by the, what do you have, four against Western Force?
Grumpy Old Prop: That's true.
Grumpy Old Prop: He did have a good day there. Where was it? There he is.
Jarrod Dyke: So, be interesting.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, he had 40 points.
Jarrod Dyke: I just...
Grumpy Old Prop: that could like yes I mean, it is bolstered by that because I only played a handful of games.
Jarrod Dyke: yeah Yeah, he hasn't played much at all.
Grumpy Old Prop: But he hasn't, right, but he has, not since the Druah match back in round eight, he hasn't broken 10 points since then.
Jarrod Dyke: Like...
Jarrod Dyke: Round eight. Yeah. Wow. Right. So, so maybe steer away away from him and you're looking at probably Jordan and then two your favorite Chiefs players.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, I mean, I still have Carter and I'm not going to get rid of him, even if that's the because he's still one of the higher scoring players.
Jarrod Dyke: I do too.
Grumpy Old Prop: So it's to me, you know, I have Carter, you know, the other back three player for the Crusaders.
Jarrod Dyke: Hmm.
Grumpy Old Prop: and I'm bringing on Jordan this week because there's no salary cap.
Jarrod Dyke: There you go.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yay. um And I'm probably, I don't know.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah, that makes life easy on you. Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. um And I'm sitting here pondering whether it's going to be Stevenson or Narawa and that I'm going to, you know, flip a coin. but So Jordan is is going to be a set start, but then it'll be like,
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: probably I'm going to probably end up with Naraba because, man, he's had a good year.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Grumpy Old Prop: It's weird that his points per game is so low because that I'm like not doing the math, but it's not math-in for me. um Yeah, and and stevenson Stevenson has been completely feast or famine.
Jarrod Dyke: He had a couple of lulls.
Grumpy Old Prop: He's only had one, two, three, four games over 10 points, and three of them were over 20. And other than that, he's he's getting between like seven and nine.
Jarrod Dyke: Yeah.
Jarrod Dyke: Funny.
Grumpy Old Prop: So it's like you're no, you're not going to pick him up. Whereas Narawa has been he's he's had some tough games here and there, but he's been really streaky where he's had like two games where he puts up like ridiculous points and then he goes to bed a little He had 22 last week, so I yeah, I'm probably bringing him on.
Jarrod Dyke: Mm-hmm.
Jarrod Dyke: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: Hmm. Yep.
Jarrod Dyke: I'm dead.
Grumpy Old Prop: And then it's going to be yeah the coin flip other than Jordan between the three of those Carter, Reese and Narawa.
Jarrod Dyke: I'm dead.
Jarrod Dyke: Yep.
Grumpy Old Prop: Not easy.
Jarrod Dyke: Okay. No, there'll be some... those will be There'll be decisions that need to be made, especially in the case of, like, Back Row and Back 3, where you have... three guys to bring in there and yeah um other other decisions are wee easier but those though those positions will probably make or break most people's weeks
Grumpy Old Prop: Right.
Jarrod Dyke: oh excuse me all right um that's that we will do one more sheet for the for the weekend um on thursday and uh we'll if you uh have questions hit us up then if not um we'll catch you guys next week and thank you very much for listening to us have a good one everyone
Grumpy Old Prop: Later.
Jarrod Dyke: Cheers. cheers
