When I said that, my dad was like, well, he was like, oh yeah, when I brought the, when I brought this in, like I didn't carry it by the handle, uh, like on the, on the 12 back. Cause I knew you were going to, I knew you were going to hoard it. i like Exactly. Exactly.
00:00:18

Speaker
Guess what? I got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell.
00:01:18
Speaker
the bizar bulldogs jp more gabo
00:01:23
Speaker
We've got the desirable dogs. You know, sorry, Hunter. Sorry. All I can think of now is like with the whole cowbell thing is, uh, the last time we played these guys, when we were there, like all of our guys were, that was their touchdown celebration. Like they were like, wait, like mimicking, like shaking the cowbells. I know lad did it and the big O did it. It was pretty sweet. So I don't know if anyone will be doing that this weekend. We'll see. Ah.
00:01:52
Speaker
I figure, I figure they probably will. Yeah. Yeah. I'm always a for that. I like a good, I like a good celebration. Yeah. It's a, it's a good, it's a good SAC fan troll. Yeah. Yeah. Um, yeah. I'm the man. Um, lots been going on.
00:02:11
Speaker
Last few days. Really? What what happened today? I have i have no idea. Catch me up to speed on what's been going going on this week. ji yeah All the things are happening. um But you know you know, we're here we're here to preview the game. we got We got some good ah topics on a couple of things from ah from the listen listener questions that we'll dive delve into. I know some folks may have been like, why didn't you talk about the ah fans stuff in the review? And we'd already gotten some questions about it. So we decided to kind of table that for this one. So we'll, we'll get to that eventually. I know everyone does a, it's been the heated topic online on the socials.
00:02:49
Speaker
Uh, um, I did finally, we've, we have figured out our weekend. Um, so we're definitely in, well, I mean, I knew we were in, but I thought we were going to have to like turn around and come straight back home Sunday morning, but we don't need to do that anymore. But, um, we will be coming in hot on Saturday. So we've got a,
00:03:08
Speaker
Kim and I are going to a friend's birthday party Friday night. Lily has a theater thing that she's not. She's just going to watch like the local high school um do their like mock ah theater for the who and I don't even know what the it's an acronym. The NCTC North North Carolina theater competition, I believe. um So she's going to watch those who are in that do their kind of mock thing on Friday. So we'll be doing all that Friday and then down Saturday morning.
00:03:33
Speaker
and The whole family? um Yeah, so Kim and I and Lily are going I believe my parents are going um So yeah, so it'll be at least the five of us good times. Yeah. Yeah, so running it back like last weekend I'm not sure what we're going to do this weekend. Uh, the weather looks so beautiful that I'm just like, Oh man, and but it would be so nice to get up there. Um, but, uh, everybody's got their sports. So it's, it's fall sports activities are, are, are plentiful. Right. Right. Um, Carter doing two sports is probably never going to happen again. in the but I can't, I can't imagine two at the same time. I got, I don't, I mean, it's, it's, it's like one is like the.
00:04:16
Speaker
the serious thing the other one is it's like fun time with his friends like it's it's ba phase baseball and flag football right that's the two yeah yeah yeah so like the travel ball is the priority and that's fortunately in the fall like they're a little bit more low key and so they do just sunday tournaments there's one for sunday tournaments in like october slash november ish Okay. um So we've already done one. We have one this weekend. So we got a couple more after this. um And that's not a big deal. So Saturdays are the like, my youngest has homecoming, homecomings. Well, she has Hoya junior Hoya football this past weekend. She had homecoming, but got it.
00:04:57
Speaker
we've got the the cheerleading thing Saturday morning slash afternoon and then we got flag football Saturday afternoon slash morning so it usually messes with the like any equitable it it usually cashes in any equity you have to like get to the game like yeah I could go but like yeah I'd have to like book it rush get there no tailgate just go straight to the tailgate and watch or straight to the game and go in Yeah, yeah, I hear. Yeah, I hear. you Yeah, I've done that. I've done that. um Heck, Ole Miss. I guess I guess that that game was so late that it had some time. But when you beat me. It's different because you get you're going you're coming in and you can stay at your parents' house. Right. Right. Right. Well, it would be and you you beat me there. That wasn't still amazing. Not not to go off the rails. Yeah, I got so distracted by playing the cowboy. I forgot to talk about anything. Did you did you bring anything?
00:05:51
Speaker
I do. I've got ODD 114. Nice. Okay. Excellent. I don't know. The Mississippi state just makes reminds me of old granddad. I don't know. Okay. Okay. That's fair. Yeah, I couldn't. That's all I got. Okay. Yeah. I, you know, I tried to like come up with something clever usually and I didn't, I didn't have anything for this one. Uh, so I went to the, I've got the Woodford reserve, uh, my local store pick, uh, from a couple of your firm.
00:06:20
Speaker
And it's almost almost done with it, ah kind of getting lower in the bottle. So this is a good one. This is the Concord ABC Woodford Reserve. Hmm. Does it have a name? They usually have names on those. It just says, it just says, or I guess it was a barrel pick. Yeah. It just says personally selected by Concord ABC. That's all it says. Doesn't even have a name. Got it.
00:06:39
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. It's a good. so ah hunter hunters a Hunter is a ah big fan of the lemon lemon drop or something like that. the but i've seen I've seen a lemon bar, I think it what it is what it was. Yeah. I've seen similar ones like that, like lemon drop, lemon bar, lemon, whatever. um So I guess that Woodford, like they are really good at making their bourbon taste kind of like lemons, I guess.
00:07:03
Speaker
Interesting. ah Because I have seen that multiple places, and but I had a store pick, Woodford, and I was actually thinking about that. I may have to swing by and grab like a ah couple of bottles. I haven't bought any bottles in a while. I need to get some Makers 46. I need to get some Woodford just to have some like daily driver type stuff. But the last store pick I had of Woodford was fin fantastic. And I got it at Southern Spirits. this Okay. can The second, the second episode we've talked about this, uh, not a sponsor yet. Not a sponsor yet. Yeah. Yeah. Seriously. they don't I don't know that they need a sponsor. Yeah. ah yeah But, I actually got it up there and it was, um, a baseball glove. It was baseball. The ah flavor was baseball glove and it tasted like leather. You know, and you say that and it's like the average person's like, what is that? That sounds awful, but it's actually really good. Yeah. Yeah.
00:07:56
Speaker
Cool. Cool. All right. Well, why don't we, um, let's run through the matchup. Um, so we got kickoff is at four 15 on Saturday. Um, perfect kickoff time. I think that wasn't that the kickoff time that we kind of invented when we had Jason on, uh,
00:08:13
Speaker
I know, right? The perfect time. It was like it was like four o'clock or six o'clock. I couldn't remember which one. Yeah. Somewhere in that like four to six range was like the perfect kickoff time. Yeah. It's a sweet spot. um So let's see. The real dogs come in at four and one, two and one in the SEC. The Bizarro dogs, one and four, oh and two in the SEC. So a bit of a struggle for these guys.
00:08:36
Speaker
ah They are not ranked. The dogs are number five and four in the various polls. um This game is on SEC Network. We've got Taylor Zarzor, Matt Stinchcomb, and Alyssa Lange on the broadcast if you're watching on TV. And the official hashtag is hashtag MSST versus UGA. The all-time series, Georgia leaves the all-time series 20 to six. We have not, I mean, only the 27th meeting.
00:09:04
Speaker
That is, that is kind of wild. Uh, really just have not a lot of history with these guys. Yeah. Considering how long we've been around, like that is kind of crazy. Yeah. Yeah. It's wild. Um, and then the last meeting that we mentioned earlier with all the, uh, cowbell cellies, I guess you would say, uh, the dogs won that game 45 to 19 in Starkville, uh, back in November of 22. So I remember that would be a kind of tight at halftime and then we pulled away. So.
00:09:29
Speaker
This is the, was this the JT Daniels Hiya? No, no, that was, and that was, that was the COVID year at home. Oh, that's right. Okay. And, uh, you know, not to, um, I don't think we got any questions about this specifically, but that was also the last ah time we wore the black jerseys in a regular season game. Uh, was that JT Daniels in the, in the COVID year. Amen. Maybe, maybe, maybe Kurt was going to bust them out. Who knows? Yeah. Was that one planned ahead of time? I can't remember.
00:09:59
Speaker
Um, I don't think they officially announced it like before the season, like which game it was. But remember, like they released the two uniform. So like they they did it like we knew for that Arkansas game that they were going to wear the red pants like they said they did say ahead of time. And then they released that there was going to be that black jersey. They didn't say when it was going to be, but I feel like they said it would happen at some point. And everyone kind of just assumed it would be that game from what I remember. Interesting. We'll have to go back. We should go back and listen to the.
00:10:28
Speaker
to the previous episode apparently Kirby's not involved in any of the decisions there, so yeah Seriously seriously um and then the away and get to that later. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I don't even know if I have that quote. I can pull it easily. Um, the weather does look like it's going to be nice day. Uh, the high, high of 80, sunny, uh, low of 50, uh, clear skies. So, um, I'm hoping with the four 15 kickoff a little bit later, won't be quite as hot as this past weekend. I don't know about you like right now. This is such an old man thing that the weather here in Charlotte today is like beautiful. Like it's nice, crisp.
00:11:06
Speaker
Outside? Is that same in Atlanta? Okay. yeah it it was it was nice. I went outside to grill, grilled some steaks this evening. And it was like hot, but like not, if that makes sense. And then like, after the sun went down, it was like perfect. Yeah, I mean, yeah, that's kind of how it was. Yeah. Okay, so perfect. So perfect that I decided to go to the brewery earlier today. So that was that was nice. I saw the i Where were you? I know I saw the glass.
00:11:32
Speaker
I went to Glover Park, like a little brewery here in Marietta Square. and they had a I went and just kind of hanging out, I was hoping to grab a beer, but then I saw that they had a ah UGA glass and I was like sold. Nice, nice. Yeah, was ah it was it was it was nice, man. The weather was beautiful, so I took advantage.
00:11:57
Speaker
Okay, cool. um Since we spent most of the podcast before the podcast, making sure I had the ah the cowbell sound bite. I didn't even ask if you had any fun facts for these guys. I've got a few fun facts. I feel like we probably went over some of this before. But since we don't hardly play these guys, I figure we could we could we could run through a little bit of it. Yeah, I'm not sure we were really doing the fun facts back in 2020. So I feel like we're probably pretty safe. Yeah, we're overdue then.
00:12:23
Speaker
um Yeah, so Mississippi State ah was established in 1878 as the agricultural and the mechanical college of state of the of the state of Mississippi. um again It was part of, yeah, yeah seriously, ah Mississippi State A and&M is is basically what they were. yeah They were the original, I guess the original SCZ A&M, right?
00:12:50
Speaker
um yeah and And they happened to have the same colors, which were selected by the football team. Actually, the students decided to let the football team select, you know, what their what their colors were. And it was selected by the the football team, you know, back in 1895. It was actually selected by the team captain at the time. W. M. Matthews chose maroon and white. So just imagine like being like a dude back in 1895. And you just
00:13:28
Speaker
Uh, I don't know. I'm ruining white. Yeah. Yes. heres And, and, and it stuck ever since. Uh, it's like a Josh Mancuso video. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. Like that's kind of, that's kind of what I, what what I picture here.
00:13:45
Speaker
Um, let's see, you know, hunter Hunter has always referred to them as that cow college. And it's hard not to appreciate that because of the cowbells. They've got the Mississippi State cheese, you know, they're very heavily agriculturally oriented.
00:14:02
Speaker
you know, being an A and&M school, um the the guy that actually founded the university um was is a former military person, and it's actually regarded as one of the top 10 universities in the country for the military.
00:14:21
Speaker
which I kind of thought was was was it interesting. Yeah, i didn't I didn't know that. Yeah, it's it's recognized as a top 10 military friendly school. Okay. Let's see. ah What else do we got here? um Some cool things um for all the golf fans out there that are PGA golf management program is actually the second oldest in the country. um So they have, you know, obviously being an A and&M school that's going to be One of the, it's going to be in there with us. Um, they actually annually produce 369,000 gallons of milk and 9,000 gallons of ice cream and 300,000 pounds of the cheese that I mentioned before. Okay. So again, they're doing themselves no favors by reinforcing that they are the Cal college. Yeah. Yeah. Which I feel like the country is like, yes. Yes.
00:15:20
Speaker
Uh, let's see here. what What else do they got? What else do they got? Um, let's see here. So, uh, obviously the, I guess that from, from here, I'll kind of like delve into some of the broader, well, before I do that, I'll, I'll, I'll touch on some of the, some of the meaningful things and then some of the famous alumni. So let's, let's run through famous alumni first. Um, Jim, are you familiar with the GI Bill?
00:15:50
Speaker
ah Yeah, yeah. So that is actually named after a former US representative, um Sonny Montgomery, GB. He is the, it's it's called the Montgomery GI Bill. So it's usually referred to as the GI Bill, but it's actually the Montgomery GI Bill. Okay.
00:16:11
Speaker
And that was started in 1984, so a lot of folks take advantage of that to go to college after they serve in the military. Yeah, um I got a good buddy who who did that that. He went to UNC Charlotte um after being in military. So again, probably part and parcel with the top 10 military-friendly yeah universities. so There's that. Let's see here. Best-selling author John Grisham is a 1977 Mississippi State University graduate. If you were to wager to guess what he graduated in, what was your guess?
00:16:47
Speaker
Um, I'm guessing it's not like literature or something. Uh, man. Yeah, it is not. He graduated in accounting, which like, what? Okay. Okay. Interesting. Agriculture school, A&M. Uh, yeah. He's a writer. Like, yeah, let's do accounting. Let's do accounting.
00:17:07
Speaker
Makes sense. Makes sense. Yeah, seriously, seriously. Let's see here. um Harley Peavy, he's been in charge of Peavy Electronics, which I guess was like a world world-renowned amplifier for musical-related products, so maybe the maybe the band folks might know mo might know of them.
00:17:28
Speaker
A couple of famous baseball players, Will Clark and Raphael Palmero. They played baseball at Mississippi State in the 80s. Let's see here, some other famous little alumni.
00:17:42
Speaker
um Nothing's really sticking out. like those were the Those were the big ones. oh um Buck Showalter. He was the manager of the the Baltimore Oils. He also played in 1977.
00:17:57
Speaker
A lot of, you know, there's a lot of baseball heritage at the at Mississippi State. They're a big baseball school. They're a big baseball school. I think that John Tweets, you know, he has gone out to the Mississippi State and has enjoyed the the tailgating atmosphere. I guess that they have a pretty like substantial baseball complex. So yeah, there's a lot of there's a lot of baseball heritage there.
00:18:19
Speaker
um on the on the baseball side of things but but yeah those are some of the big the big alumni extending a little bit like broader outside of like just the university like i was curious like what you know i hear about miss you hear about mississippi um they've got the coastal area which is where hunters from which we hear a lot about Um, you, you kind of get a sense from, you know, just, just the history about, you know, like Jim Crow and, you know, there's a, there's a lot going on from a, from my Southern culture standpoint and in, in Mississippi, which is kind of crazy. Like you, you look back, like as early as 2020.
00:19:01
Speaker
they actually had the Confederate flag in their and their state flag, which is kind of crazy yeah to think of. A lot of disenfranchisement you know that obviously goes had had gone on historically, but um the the name of Mississippi actually means Big River. um and is I'm going to totally butcher the name here, but it's from the Ojibwe language.
00:19:30
Speaker
The it was it was named for the Indian those Indian Native American folks that were not actually from this area, but that's what they gave the name of obviously for the Mississippi River so Mississippi actually means big river.
00:19:46
Speaker
Dude, all I can hear in my head right now is Alice Cooper talking about Miliwake. Sorry, if any, for anyone. You may not even get that. Do you even know what I'm talking about? Vaguely, but... That's from Wayne's World. Okay. They're in Milwaukee. Sorry. Continue. Yeah, yeah. I feel like... It's Algonquin for the good land. I actually saw that meme today. Sorry. Continue. Oh, okay. Got it, got it, got it.
00:20:09
Speaker
um yeah and So the the Indian tribe, the Ojibwe, Ojibwe, they actually were from Minnesota. So they actually traveled all the way from Minnesota down to the Mississippi, um which is kind of just crazy to think about from back in the day, but anyway.
00:20:27
Speaker
The nickname is the Magnolia State and it's in honor of all of the Magnolia trees that grow in the area. And yeah, that's ah let's like that's a couple of the quick and dirty things. um The state flag is known as the new Magnolia flag.
00:20:45
Speaker
And it has a lot of meaning that they've got built into it, which I'll kind of touch on, which will address some of the Magnolia stuff. um So it's got 20 white stars that represents Mississippi's status as the 20th state to join the United States Union. um It has a gold five-point star, which is representative of the state's original Native American inhabitants, the Choctaw. I think it's how Tim McGraw pronounces it.
00:21:13
Speaker
ah The magnolia blossom represents hospitality, hope, rebirth, and forward progression. The blue stripe represents vigilance, justice, and perseverance. The red stripes in the flag represent the hardiness and valor. And the gold represents Mississippi's cultural heritage. um And then, and as ah as I mentioned, in 2020, they replaced the previous flag, which included a Confederate flag that had flown for 100 years.
00:21:42
Speaker
um But yeah, basically they they they pulled it out because, you know, 38% of the state is is African American and so they they kind of pulled it out. Which, Georgia did something similar, but a fairly long time ago, ah but both states obviously held on to those things for quite some time. Let's see, what else do I got? What else do I got? I think that that and pretty much wraps it up, gives ah a pretty comprehensive look at a foe that we don't normally see.
00:22:13
Speaker
yeah um But yeah, that's ah that's a little know your foe. They are known as the Bulldogs. I guess I should probably address that too. um They were known as the Bulldogs since at least 1905.
00:22:28
Speaker
um It was unofficially used back then and interchangeably as the nickname for the Aggies and the Maroons. um all throughout, but it became official in 1961, where they became officially known as the Bulldogs. They had a ah an english dog an English Bulldog named Bully, so that's actually like why that he's called Bully right now. um But basically, they got that nickname because of the school's history of tough play.
00:23:00
Speaker
Okay. Bizarro dogs. Bizarro dogs. Nice. Fiend. Nice. Those are good fun facts. All right, I will roll into Hasty's hardware history.
00:23:31
Speaker
All right. So hasty soccer history, the game against Mississippi state on October 12th will be the 1,355th football game in our programs history. However, it will only be the 27th meeting between Georgia and Mississippi state. The first in this series was in 1914. Then, uh, then Georgia had to wait until 1950 to face the bizarre bulldogs again. I liked that Jason says, bizarre bulldogs, uh, like we do. It makes me feel historical.
00:23:57
Speaker
ah Since we've played Mississippi State so rarely, this made me wonder about some of Georgia's more obscure opponents. ah This exercise is entirely subjective and I focused on the air before TV became prevalent to find some of the oddest opponents we faced. So let's put some glasses on it, nice, ah and explore a few of these unusual matchups.
00:24:17
Speaker
The Atlanta Augusta and Savannah athletic clubs. These three opponents from the 1890s and early 1900s weren't even schools. They were teams composed of men who belonged to athletic clubs in these cities. That is absolutely wild. Um, I feel like, uh, like hug dog, your, your club could play against Georgia.
00:24:37
Speaker
Oh, back then. University of Chicago. ah University of Chicago. The Maroons were a football powerhouse in the early 1900s and a charter member of what is now the Big Ten. ah co Coach Amos Alonzo Stagg was in his 31st season as their head coach when Herman Stegman, a Chicago football letterman, took the Bulldogs to the Windy City on October 7, 1922.
00:24:58
Speaker
Though not a winning day for the Bulldogs, Chicago would ultimately voluntarily end their football program in 1939. I'd like to think that among the reasons for this was their fear of a rematch. He said it should be noted that Chicago has since revived its program in Division III.
00:25:13
Speaker
ah Next up is Delonaga. Many people are familiar with the University of North Georgia, a growing school with several campuses around the northern part of the state. But before it was UNG, though, it was Delonaga College, and they faced Georgia sixteen or six times between 1905 and 1915, with all the games in Athens and Georgia with all game athens and with georgia victorious in each, including an 81 to nothing blowout in 1914.
00:25:39
Speaker
um We'll see Hardin Simmons. The 1959 season is remembered as an SEC championship year and for great games against Auburn in Florida. It is less remembered for a 35 to 6 win over Hardin Simmons, a small private college from Abilene. Hardin Simmons was coached in 1959 by Slingen Sammy Baugh, one of the greatest quarterbacks and punters in the NFL during the 1940s and 1950s.
00:26:01
Speaker
Uh, let's see that we got locust Grove Institute. This was a college prep school in locust Grove, Georgia that we demolished, uh, 101 to nothing in 1910. Bob McQuarter, the greatest of our free world war one players and the first grade Georgia running back made his debut in this game. During next week, McQuarter and company demolished Gordon college, a small school from Barnesville, Georgia, 81 to nothing. Uh, McQuarter was the original, my God, a freshman.
00:26:28
Speaker
Then we've got Newberry ah Newberry a college in Newberry, South Carolina face Georgia twice both times in Athens and both times losses for the visitors We beat Newberry 79 and nothing in 1915 and 82 to 13 in 1922 Newberry now competes in the division to South athletic Atlantic conference It's interesting to me that running up the score didn't seem to be a problem all the way back then. I always find that funny No especially given Cumberland College. Right, right. Okay, then last we've got Stetson College. So Georgia played the Stetson Hatters from Daleon, Florida in Athens for the opening game of the 1934 season. We knocked their hats off with a score of 42 to nothing. Not knock their hats off. Nice touch. Yeah, the the puns were plentiful in this one. And I really liked it, Jason. So thank you. Jason has wonderful puns. Amazing.
00:27:24
Speaker
um so yeah so As always, if you're on YouTube, you know kind of um click through a few things. We had some some programs from some of the games and just some old old pictures. so ah always Always enjoy the artifacts that that Jason sends along with these as well. so ah Thank you, Jason, as always, for sending this over. and Everyone, always remember to go check out the Harvard Library if you're in Athens. Always a great time.
00:27:49
Speaker
chicken out It's so funny to so funny to look back at some of those old programs and stuff. it's like yeah they're like They're like art at this point. Yeah, yeah for sure. um speaking Speaking of like some of the 1900 stuff that you were talking about, like I did forget to to mention one fun fact that I came across that I was like, hold on, wait a second. I never knew this.
00:28:11
Speaker
okay can you tell me when what mississippi states or mississippi a and m um but where did they where did they play their first bowl game their first bowl game the fact you're mentioning it makes me want to say something like that might be familiar like atlanta you know uh the gator bowl like boom Nope. I'm gonna, I'm gonna, i'll go ahead and and roosel nope I'll go ahead and put you out of your misery. okay So I did some digging into this because I was very curious about it because I was kind of shocked to hear that Mississippi State's first bowl game was in 1911. Their very first bowl game
00:28:53
Speaker
Was played in Cuba Havana, Havana, Cuba. So I saw that, I saw that in the, in the notes and I like pulled it up and I was like, what, what like it was played. It was the Bacardi bowl, which by the way, like side note, like, holy cow. Yeah, that's amazing. Um, so they called it the Bacardi bowl. I guess it's also been called the Roomba bowl, which, uh, funny, the cigar bowl. Um, but at the time it was called the Bacardi bowl.
00:29:22
Speaker
And I guess that the the operating procedure for this bowl game was that it would basically feature a US team versus a Cuba team, a university Cuba team. So so I went back and looked at the who else played at this, because I was like, well, if Mississippi if missippi State's played there, I wonder if any other teams have played there.
00:29:46
Speaker
Um, so it actually was started in 1907. 1907 was the very first, um, you know, cuba bowl or whatever, Bacardi bowl. Um, LSU played at the university of Havana. They won 56 to nothing. Um, interestingly, Tulane was the next but team to play. They got shut out by the Cuban athletic club. Um, Mississippi state shut them out in the following year. Again, 1911, Florida has played there.
00:30:12
Speaker
1912, Florida played in this bowl game against the Vidato Tennis Club. ah Anyway, like Ole Miss has played there, Mississippi Southern Auburn has played there. I think I actually like in the in the quick research I was doing about this bowl game that was also Auburn's very first bowl game um was was there. So I thought that that was kind of kind of crazy. I like that that it was the first bowl game for both opponents that were now played back to back. Yeah.
00:30:45
Speaker
I also like the crossover with hasty's hardwood history and the ah teams are playing athletic clubs in there. Yes, exactly. and Like they were playing athletic clubs all over the place. That's crazy. um Yeah, the the Vedado tennis club is kind of interesting. Like, could you just imagine like rolling up and being like, yeah, we're going to play the Atlanta, ah the AC. We're going to play the right. Right. Right. Exactly. Exactly. Wow.
00:31:09
Speaker
ah But I will say that that bowl game was a one-sided affair for the Americans, generally speaking. um The Cuban Athletic Club got a couple on everybody. Ole Miss lost. ah Sorry, the Fighting Hunters. The Fighting Hunters lost to the Cuban Athletic Club at one point in 1921. They got shut out. Tulane lost. And interestingly, Auburn and Villanova played in 1937. So that was a deviation from the the Cuban teams, I guess.
00:31:38
Speaker
yeah but For obvious reasons, that bowl game kind of went away in 1946, when the the Communists, I guess, kind of took over or whatever. But the it was actually supposed, they were supposed to resurrect this game in 2018, but they never did. Anyway, totally totally off the rails. But I just wanted to do like like a quick, like, holy cow, we played bowl games internationally back then. Right. Yeah, I didn't. I had no idea.
00:32:09
Speaker
All right, I'm going to hit the news and notes. Um, I mean, obviously the big news and note item, i I don't know if that's the right, uh, but so Colby young, I imagine will not be playing. Um, but I guess more importantly, legal treble. So, um, you know, we found out this morning, Colby has was arrested. Um, so I don't know. I didn't get, even as of Kirby's press conferences later today, we're working on Tuesday. He hadn't even talked to him yet. So.
00:32:37
Speaker
ongoing lead in legal matter. I don't i know. I don't want to speculate anything at this point. Yeah. I'll follow it under the, we need more details situation, but yeah off the cuff, off the cuff does not look good. Yeah, it does not. this Definitely does not.
00:32:52
Speaker
Um, yeah, do not, do not condone that kind of, uh, those kinds of charges for sure. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. Um, let's see. Uh, Kirby has a lot of respect for Jeff Levy. I can't believe he literally says that every week, but the coach should, but.
00:33:07
Speaker
Um, and then on the injury front, uh, for a smile on Monday, he said, we hope to get him back soon. So we know what that means. Um, and then today he got asked about like Jared Wilson, Jordan Hall, Kristen Miller. Um, he said that, uh, Kristen Miller has been able to practice.
00:33:23
Speaker
Um, the Jared is better than he he was, but it's not taken full reps. Um, and let's see, Jordan, Jordan, I think he says like he's, he's trying to get out there and go, but, and he's pushing hard and all that kind of stuff. So, so it doesn't sound, um, super promising there. So we'll see. I, I, my guess is, um, I'm not sure we'll see any of those guys. And my guess is Bobo starts at center again, but.
00:33:51
Speaker
That's not been inside sources. This is my guess from reading between the curvy lines. OK, there was some other stuff sitting in the press conference that I think we have questions about. So um just table that for later. All right, John, let's talk about this game. um So like I said, dogs are um the the ah Georgia dogs, four and one bizarre dogs, one and four. um They have a negative net yard per play. um I'll say that negative point six, six yards for play. um They are even in the turnover.
00:34:20
Speaker
Turnover margin, so they're even there So let's talk about the what we're looking for when Georgia has the ball um and I'll say this is kind of one of this is where there's like not to be dismissive, but I feel like this one kind of lines up as a Georgia good Mississippi State not good um From everything that I've that I've seen I mean there there 122nd in total yards per game in in FPS so they're they're they're giving up a lot that tracks what the only thing i'll say is it looks like they're decent at like not giving up explosive place so um to me it sounds like an opportunity for uh like ample um ample curvy death marches i don't know we're gonna and from from from the from the opening kick we're gonna curvy death march yeah yeah yeah exactly so um i don't know what do you i guess i guess what are you looking for when george has a ball
00:35:18
Speaker
I mean, the mantra for the season is show me. Show me four quarters of dominant offense. Yeah. This team on paper showcases that we should be able to, this should be a game where we should be able to fluff our our metrics. And again, to use a phrase from an earlier podcast, the regression to the mean, like we've played some pretty freaking good teams um thus far.
00:35:43
Speaker
um You know, a couple of playoff contenders, SEC opponents, road games, you know, and it's dinged our overall like numbers, which I feel like people are really struggling with right now. Yeah. Particularly after the Alabama game, like turn the page folks. um But you know we're we're right now, we're we're tracking like we're a good team and maybe not a great team. But um this on paper should be a game that we should be able to basically dominate from from start to finish.
00:36:15
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. I agreed there. That's kind of where, that's kind of where I'm at. You know, like just like show me. Yeah. Yeah. I didn't, I didn't write a lot of the kind of the notable, notable defenders from Mississippi state, uh, Isaac Smith, sophomore safeties, leading tackler, uh, 19 solo tackles, 51 total. Um, Elijah Cannon and is a freshman cornerback. He's got one pick. He's got a touchdown as well.
00:36:40
Speaker
Um, and then Brandon Jennings is a junior linebacker. He's got one and a half sacks on the season, uh, as well as 22 total tackles. Um, so just a few guys to look out for on the, on the Mississippi state defense there. Um, yeah, I mean, I, I, I think that makes sense. And I feel like this team, I still don't really know, I guess, like what is the offensive identity of the team? Maybe we can can can continue to figure that out. Um, I guess, you know, heading into the last game, and I was kind of thinking, well, maybe it's, you know, taking the deep shots or or getting, getting vertical passing game, et cetera. Cause that's what worked well and say in the second half against Alabama. But.
00:37:18
Speaker
We didn't so much see that against Auburn. I think we saw them more like methodical, which I'm fine with. um I like a good long touchdown drive. Nothing wrong with that. um So I don't know. We'll see, I guess this one kind of what we're looking at probably 10 Celine more that way. And I'm cool with that. I mean, I know that's what, you know, for the Bobo haters, like that's kind of what Monken did for the most part um was the, you know, methodical drives. So um yeah, I mean, I'm with you.
00:37:45
Speaker
Show me, I want to see the offensive line perform. So inevitably what's going to happen later in the season, um, as we roll through, um, obviously we've got Texas coming up. They're a common opponent. Um, seeing us, you know, at least stay on, on track with what, how they performed is probably going to be pretty heavily scrutinized amongst the the media folks. Cause.
00:38:10
Speaker
You know, they played Texas at Texas. They're playing us at home. So it's, it's a Georgia, Texas home game, basically, you know, how to, how do these two teams track against each other? Um, yeah, that's kind of, that's kind of what, uh, that's kind of how this will be measured.
00:38:26
Speaker
Okay. Yeah. Makes sense. All right. Um, let's talk about the other side of the ball. So who we're looking for when a Mississippi state has the ball. Um, so some notable players there. So, uh, Blake shaping. So he's the senior quarterback, but they have switched over, uh, to a, uh, to a freshman. I think what my understanding is, um, is a chance we see both, um, that could happen.
00:38:55
Speaker
ah But they've they have switched over to a true freshman, which is a Michael Van Buren. Um, I think played the last game. Um, so he's been out there. So he is a 19 to 36 on the year for 244 yards. Um, no touchdowns, no, no picks. Um, the other guy who has like the most stats is that's Blake shape. And he's a, so he's a senior. Um, he was 74 of 108 for 974 yards, uh, eight touchdowns in a, in a pick.
00:39:30
Speaker
um But yeah, so what from what I saw from Kirby, I think we're looking at the Van Buren kid there. Interesting. Is he like a more mobile guy? so they i'll I'll tell you, they are like super up-tempo. I do know that. ah so Jeff Levy is their coach. He was formerly offensive coordinator um at UCF when, why can't I think, Tennessee's coach?
00:39:58
Speaker
Hyple. Hyple, yeah, when Hyple was the head coach at UCF, he was there with him. Damn it, Bobby. Yeah, yeah, exactly. So he was there with him, and then he was ah Oklahoma's offensive coordinator as well. um So he runs like the super up tempo style offense. And that is that is something that that Kirby called out, like that they are like the fastest of anyone like in the league as far as snapping the ball, like, you know, faster than tennis. They run more ah more even more up tempo than Tennessee.
00:40:24
Speaker
OK, you know, honestly, like I think that this kind of sets up nicely for us because, you know, if they're if they're running a high tempo offense, you know, I think that um Steve Sarkeesian, you know, the Texas offense kind of is in that vein. Obviously, we have Tennessee. Obviously, we have Ole Miss. So this this will be a nice warm up to see like what we got, what we got versus that the high that high tempo kind of pace, because, yeah,
00:40:53
Speaker
That's basically the rest of our schedule. like from here From here on out, it's basically like foot to the gas teams. yeah ah And you and I have talked about this on the podcast and separately, just the nfl like NFLization of of these games means that you know you keep the ball in play. like these and The running clock and all that kind of stuff, like the the game is going to go by quickly. So if you can limit the possessions and things like that on these fast teams, then there' you're you're going to have a higher likelihood of success if you are a methodical team versus a high powered and high potent offense. Yeah.
00:41:33
Speaker
Which I think we can all fairly fairly much agree that we're not the, the quote unquote high powered offense here for sure. But, you know, the second half of Alabama showcase that we can be if we need to. Right. Yeah. Yeah. i Agreed. So it'll be a nice warmup for what's coming. What's coming down the pipe. Yeah. Yeah. I agree in that.
00:41:52
Speaker
Um, a couple other guys, I kind of think, I kind of think about it like, uh, the, the Georgia Southern, like whenever we'd have Georgia Southern running the triple option, it was like practice for Georgia tech. Yeah. Yeah. True. That's that that's another thing that Kirby did talk about that. And then press conference, like he got asked about.
00:42:11
Speaker
What do you do to prep like did they look you know like in a bi-week? Do you look anything about tempo and that kind of stuff? So he said some um And he actually compared it he compared like this kind of offense to the triple option, you know, but like in the passing sense. So Um, so I don't think shape in as much of a runner. He's got negative rushing yards. I'm assuming from sex. So just have a way or not shaping. Sorry. Van Buren, uh, the freshmen. Um, so Johnny Daniels is a junior running back. He's their leading rusher. 47 carries 233 yards and a touchdown.
00:42:41
Speaker
Uh, and then Devon booth, the second leading rusher, 192 yards and two touchdowns. And then there are two leading receivers are Kevin Coleman. He's a junior when he catches 344 yards and three touchdowns. And then Mario Craver is a freshman receiver, nine catches, two 38 yards and two touchdowns. So those are the guys.
00:42:59
Speaker
On the Georgia front, uh, you know, Dan Jackson has moved into, he's still the leading tackler on the, on the Georgia defense. Thought that was interesting. I know you always liked the guys closer to the line of scrimmage to make, making those tackles JP. just one yeah It is what it is. Yep. That's, that's just, I mean, it is the team that we've got right now. Yeah.
00:43:18
Speaker
So yeah, I you know i think we've we've seen um some of these fast-paced offenses, like the Michael Leach offense, for example, do some damage. um These guys have really been struggling though, so hopefully we've got all that figured out. All right, let's talk about... ah Okay. I'm hoping i'm hoping that i'm hoping that the the boys on both offense and defense can dig down deep and you know search their souls and find their inner pirates. Oh man. RIP. Shout out to the pirate. Shout out. Yeah. All right. Let's see. Gone but not forgotten. That's right. That's right. 100%.
00:43:55
Speaker
Um, special teams. Uh, so their place kicker is Kyle fairies, a sophomore, uh, kicker. He's four or five on field goals, 17 of 18 on extra points. So he has missed, missed an extra point this season. So watch that space. Um, and their punter is like from California, I think like he's not even from Australia. yeah So I'm not, these guys, yeah, they don't, they don't take punting seriously. yeah' take Can't take this guy. seriously Yeah. Yeah. So his name and is Nick bar Mira. He's just, uh, he's a senior. He does average like 46 yards per punt though. So, and then I just, you know, um, one thing again, i mean we've, we've been talking about, uh, not to give like bad vibes or anything, but we've been talking about the streak with Brett Thorsen and all the puns. Uh, I don't know if you remember this.
00:44:46
Speaker
And it was his first season, I guess, right in 2022. Um, they returned a punt for a touchdown against us that year. I saw that highlight today. Um, he kicks like a really low punt and they, they ran it back for a touchdown. So my, my, how he has grown since then. but i don't have I don't think that he's going to be throwing, uh, going to be giving up any, any long kick returns anytime soon.
00:45:12
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, yeah just what uh, it's crazy the 180 from then so cool All right. That's what I got in the special teams. You know again like this this this does feel like a uh, Protect the ball win the game kind of game to me So it's it's been a struggle bus for these guys so far this year it has I mean I kind of file it under the umbrella that we File the the uniform Twitter stuff. Yeah. Yeah, it's just what Kirby does man We're gonna we're not gonna like use this game to practice plays We're not gonna use this game to practice Players like it's just gonna be get in get out get the win and wrap this thing up as early as possible Unfortunately how it's gonna go. Yeah
00:45:56
Speaker
Yeah. All right. You want to hit the listener questions? Yeah, let's do it. Okay. So as they are every week, the listener questions are brought to you by working web media. ah So we worked with them last off season to overhaul our website. So you can head over to mygottapodcast.com to check that out.
00:46:14
Speaker
Uh, basically we had a super basic site before like our merch store was on a separate site, all that. So we were able to bring everything together and work with them. They worked with us on all the designs, uh, writing copy imagery, everything. Um, so it's super simple process for us. So if you have a small business or need some help with your online presence, head over to working web media.com slash dogs, and then they will know that we sent you their way.
00:46:39
Speaker
Uh, first up, hunt the Jones, uh, you know, it's a Mississippi team. So he's got China. and So he's he's got timing. Yep. Hunter says, uh, is Starkville the worst college town in the conference and what are the reasons? Yes.
00:46:55
Speaker
Not a fan of Starkville was Hunter. I can't, I can't say why. Um, I I've never been. So I, I don't really have any, any opinion on this, but, uh, based on all the feedback that I've gotten about logistics and how long it takes and the fact that I think the team has to fly into Memphis and then like Boston from there kind of thing.
00:47:17
Speaker
Um, I I don't know if that's true or not, but like that seems to be the vibe is that everybody has to fly into nobody actually flies into the Starkville they fly into Memphis and then drive down Gotcha. Yeah, I don't have a good answer for why either. but I also have never been there and I've You know some day I'd like to say that I've been to all the schools I'd before we expanded I'd been to most of them But yeah, that was one that I never I never went there in college. Right? Yeah, we just got three hour Yeah, you know, we just don't play that much. So name right yeah, it it doesn't come up very often. But what I know is that they're not really that big of a thing. um Yeah, I guess I guess you could fly into Birmingham if you wanted to as well. So people probably come in from Birmingham too. I mean, not that it has anything to do with the town and I know we make the capital jokes, but like I do you think it's weird that they're allowed to ring those during games. um i'll be I don't think they should be.
00:48:11
Speaker
that's just my yeah screw guys so that's that's we can If we can't play like the the band, like it should it should be not not a thing. Exactly. All right. ah ah Did you have anything else to add?
00:48:24
Speaker
No, I would say that this is, this is one of those things where it's just like, I hope that, I hope that we come in control everything in the game, the way that we are supposed to on paper and nobody gets hurt. Like this is one of those games where you just, you just want to win and not, not have anybody get hurt. Yeah.
00:48:44
Speaker
Alright, let's see. Next up we got our buddy Josh Mooney. um Josh says, Hurricane naming convention, stupid. We need at least one year where it's nothing but college of all legends, A to Z. AJ, Bowers, Chubb, DeAndre, who you got on that list. The alphabet is long, um but I mean you gotta have Herschel.
00:49:04
Speaker
ah hersel good at version all I like I like having Bowers chub. I think you gotta have all about running back you what is the oh you so got up said i got i got I got one. Perfect. That's timely. So we got hurricane milk. We got hurricane milking going on right now, right? Yeah big big big hurricane coming through you know thoughts and prayers for everybody that is I know there are several folks on the Twitter sphere that are are in the path of that sucker. So, yeah, you know, everybody, you know, we we hope that it does is a whole big nothing and it just dies in the in the Caribbean and it's just a lot of rain, but yeah.
00:49:42
Speaker
Anyway, we've got hurricane month, uh, we're hurricane Milton. So I would say I would, I would submit in Munson, uh, for that one. I like it. I like it. That is a good one. I thought you were just going to say Milton with Kendall Milton. That's another option. There you go. mind We already got it covered.
00:50:02
Speaker
ah He didn't even know it started. All right, let's see. um Next up we've got Fletcher Proctor. How cool is it going to be when Carson goes 16 to 18 for 225 yards and two scores in the first half only for Kirby to Kirby death marks the entire second half? We still win 37 to 10 and people call for Bobo's head because he won't turn Carson loose. and that's how that's That's definitely possible. I wouldn't be shocked by that like in one bit.
00:50:30
Speaker
At this point, I would say that it would be it would make me a lot more comfortable to start getting some reps for the backup, Carson Beck's backup, which I guess all of his purposes is probably going to be Gunner Stockfin, right? like yeah yeah I feel like that we need to get to halftime. you Go ahead and just start out strong and you know, throw throw the game plans that we've had away and just and just to start strong. Like whatever, like change things up so that we can not be behind the sticks in the second half so that we can get some experience, much needed experience from the folks that are going to be backing up these guys. it's that's that's That's the biggest thing that I'm looking for.
00:51:14
Speaker
Okay, okay. Yeah, I think that's fair. I think that's fair. I mean, in the, in the, when we were breaking this down, we said that it's probably going to be a Kirby death march like the entire game. So, uh, get ready for that one Fletcher. We scored one touchdown and then from there it's just shut down.
00:51:31
Speaker
Uh, let's see, uh, dip comes in, says, uh, is it possible to live in a world where our players don't drive home recklessly, home recklessly to beat their girlfriends after being on Bela? Uh, yeah, I mean there, we would like to see some things change in Athens. Um, and with the, just the, just the sheer volume of, of the incidents, uh, they definitely.
00:51:56
Speaker
Piled up. I don't know. i don't I don't know what to say at this point. um But I know they're taking this seriously. The coaches are, but um I don't know. I feel like like something seems seems like something needs to change. I don't know what it is, but yeah.
00:52:11
Speaker
Second part I would I would tend to agree with that with that assessment as well that there's it's just it's just getting ridiculous at this point I felt like that we were getting into a like the timing of this thing is just kind of backbreaking right like yeah happens on a what Tuesday mr Yeah, happens on Tuesday afternoon, slow news day. Obviously, there's not a whole lot going on. You know, polls have already come out. Everyone's doing their press conferences. It's it's just a slow news day, right? Like, yeah. So for something like this to come up, you know, early, early on, it's just not ideal. So, you know,
00:52:50
Speaker
i don't i don't know what I don't know what else to say other than I felt like that we were starting to get a handle and get our arms wrapped around the overall driving issue situation. Yeah.
00:53:03
Speaker
So now to have like, oh yeah, we got domestic abuse and also it's like a pregnant woman and yeah, but I don't know. it's is There's no excuse. There's just no excuse. Like, yeah, whatever, whatever we're saying is just not resonating on their decision-making patterns. And maybe that's reflective of the evaluations. Like they're more than capable athletes, but maybe less than incapable character people, you know,
00:53:31
Speaker
I'm watching and watching the Aaron Hernandez a documentary right now on on on Hulu. and k dude i i can't I can't believe how he how he got that far, you know what I mean? like Yeah, I haven't watched that yet. Oh, you haven't watched it? No, I thought ah thought that you or maybe it was John. We're talking about it. um I guess we can get into an entertainment ah segment. but it's it's It's a figure criticism if you haven't watched it like go through and watch it and you can kind of get like a ah kind of compare it to sports wars where it's like, you know, we can't we can't vouch for the exact words that we're using but it's based on the best research that we have available to us.
00:54:15
Speaker
um and conversations that other people have had that have been quoted or whatever and like and you you go by if you watch that but show you see Urban Meyer basically gets super exaser exacerbated by the the fact that he's got to address these disciplinary issues that are happening and his appeal to everyone around him is like I can't win without good players and the good players make bad decisions, it seems like um like. That was his rationale and that's kind of what I'm picking up from Kirby right now. like is is like I have to get good players and these players are making bad decisions and so it's an uncomfortable spot to be in as an alumni of the
00:54:55
Speaker
institution yeah and a fan of the football team. But at the end of the day, Buddy's paid $16 million dollars or whatever it is that he's making to run a program effectively and efficiently. And right now these are Not effective and they're not efficient use of time for literally anyone. Yeah, so They're the incident seemed to be like increasingly more concerning like we've got a player that decides to put his hands on a pregnant woman like a court allegedly like allegedly and and in the in the details again, I'm i'm reserving judgment. Yeah, I but um they obviously haven't done anything. You go back and look at some of the other folks like traffic violations and stuff like that. Like, yeah, like I can, I can, you know, not be too concerned about those things. Cause you know, as it, as a dumb from, um, as a dumb from the early 2000s, I was doing those things. Maybe not to the extent that these guys are or with the equipment that they're operating with. Yeah, seriously.
00:56:00
Speaker
Lamborghinis and whatnot, but maybe I would if I had access to such tools. but right um i I wasn't going that fast in my Dodge Ram in college. I couldn't go that fast.
00:56:11
Speaker
I can neither confirm nor deny um if I topped out my Honda Accord on Atlanta Highway. um yeah yeah so I mean, you say all that, I've been there, like but at the same time, like he's paid a lot of money to make sure that these kinds of things like either don't see the light of day or get handled. You know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well said. Well said. And we'll, we'll, we'll just keep following it. I hope Kirby can get everything straightened out because it feels like something needs to change. So we'll watch it.
00:56:48
Speaker
Um, he added, well, what section is the best in Sanford and why is it three 18? Uh, a lot of good people sit in section three 18, uh, need to come by and say hi. So that's all I got to say about that. All right. You need to come up, you need to come up with like a nickname for three 18. Yeah, I know. Like, like more salt, more Sal's Motown, like, right. Right.
00:57:06
Speaker
He'd be wearing my he'd be wearing my Morris town ah my Morris Hall bracelet. It's in there. Oh, there you go. Yeah. Yeah, that's pretty sweet. See, see, collector's items for the the atmosphere kind of the actors that will talk. Yeah. Yeah. Before we get to that, quick off the rails, my my my parents bought a 12 pack of the they bought the Creature Comfort's tailgate pack. Have you seen that? Like it's it's like the red 12 pack. It's got the power G on it. And I was like, oh, man, this is a collector's item. like I got to keep this.
00:57:39
Speaker
so that like ah so and youre right because they could just as easily not be a sponsor of the university also how great was it like my so when I said that my dad was like well he was like oh yeah when I brought the when I brought this in like I didn't carry it by the handle ah like on the on the 12 back because I knew you were
00:57:59
Speaker
I knew you were going to hoard it. Exactly. like Exactly. Oh man. Okay. So anyways, sorry. Had to share that. um I can't, I can't wait until we're like 80 years old and you'll be like, Hey, look at this.
00:58:14
Speaker
Look at this. Look at this. Look at this old. Look at this old red and black. Found it. All right. So this is the part where we've got all the questions about, um, I don't know, atmosphere gate or whatever you want to call it. Um, like, so in the, I don't know when it was, it was on Saturday, Saturday night. I think Kirby said it like to DJ Shockley.
00:58:39
Speaker
Um, basically, you know, he felt like the energy wasn't there. Um, and he needs the, but he, he said he was disappointed in the fans, right? And I believe those were his words, disappointed in the fans. Um, so 51 to 7 GTA, Bobby Wilson, my dad, friend of the show, Tim Riley, all, all wanted us to to talk about this, um, in various ways. Um, I know 51 to 7 GTA asked if this is going to be the, uh,
00:59:07
Speaker
The kind of like Pat die. They're not man enough moment, um which is for the fans. Yeah. Which is kind of my hope. Like, so my whole thing on this is it's like, to me, it's the wording is the wording that he used. Like, I don't disagree that the crowd wasn't like, you know, it wasn't the best. It was also homecoming and Auburn, ah you know, Auburn's not what they used to be. Like so much of that environment comes with the opponent and the magnitude of the game. And, you know, for better or worse right now.
00:59:37
Speaker
The Auburn Star! And we can't control that. Right. So that's part of it. Um, so I don't know. Like I was, I was screaming, you know, we were all screaming, um, rewatching it on TV because I didn't, there's a reason why I said what I said in the preview episode for Auburn about like, Hey, let's get there early and be loud. Cause I knew it was coming. It's homecoming. Like it always happens. Um, so I don't know. I guess maybe I was just prepared for it and Kirby was surprised by it for some reason. I don't know why he would be I cause I, I knew it was coming.
01:00:09
Speaker
not Not having been there, um but I guess that one of the things that I'll point to is that how audible the other team's band was and how differentiating that was from the overall experience of other games that I've seen. So maybe there's some truth, you know, somewhere in the middle is probably where everybody's at. um but i think that there's just a person it's just a personality thing like i i am one of those people that like is going to yell and cheer at my maximum capacity right but then there's like other folks like if you remember in the old miss game when we were with keeling and lutz like i was like i was like hootin and holler on on keeling and stuff and he was just like
01:00:57
Speaker
a Yeah. You know, it's been some personalities. It's, it's, it's, it's Keeling. It's Keeling, right? Not to say that it's bad or wrong or whatever. It's just Keeling. Like he's not as riled up and maybe he didn't have, maybe he didn't get into the bourbon as heavy as he probably should have. He he went to a different tailgate than we did. There's obviously the problem. Right. It was obviously the problem. Yeah.
01:01:19
Speaker
um And then there are the other components of like the end game situation, like maybe giving everybody beer, end game has got everybody subdu subdued a little bit. um I don't know.
01:01:32
Speaker
i ah kind of If you're a fan that gets offended when Kirby says these things, or this thing in particular, um and you are an alumni and you've been to the games and all that kind of stuff and you've you've been around for a hot minute, probably not talking to you. Probably talking to the other folks that maybe are coming and maybe they're not alumni, maybe they haven't been very often. then i they're They're not bringing the noise. They're not bringing the noise. Maybe they're the type of people that complain when you're standing in front, one when you're standing in front of them kind of thing. Um, I guess it in three 18, we have the luxury of, of sitting around a lot of folks, um, up there when I've been up there, like they don't care. So yeah you can get as loud as you want up there and as rowdy as you want. Nobody's going to say anything. So right.
01:02:22
Speaker
right I don't know. i just I think that I personally don't have that problem, but there are definitely solutions to like ramping up that you've talked to quite a bit about. like Basically, what it comes down to is that I think that the administration as would admit that there were some mistakes that were made, like just periods straight up. like I've heard multiple people talk about they didn't have the down and distance right.
01:02:49
Speaker
Yeah, just yeah just as a just as a an operation that is a fail. Inherently. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. So top to bottom, like there were there were some issues and things like that. So like, you know, there are other things that I think that they could do and explore from the from a game day experience, experience standpoint, maybe they need to talk to our friend, Josh Mooney, who does event marketing.
01:03:16
Speaker
a About how to operate an event and keep your fans focused on the event. I mean, but just like I said, down in distance. The head coach is talking about the fans are not engaged, which is an indictment of the overall experience.
01:03:31
Speaker
that they're probably going through. And then you have your star quarterback, your starting quarterback, talking about how the in-game experience was distracting to what the players were producing on the field. Like, I mean, he literally, like everybody was, look I mean, you can go and look back at the broadcast. Everybody's looking at the screen and Carson back, like, wasn't, it was like, what the hell's going on? And he looked up and he sees what's going on. He's like, dude, he's like, just,
01:04:01
Speaker
focus on the game. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. When that's happening in your overall experience, like just, that just indicates that top to bottom, it wasn't, uh, it wasn't, it wasn't ideal. ah Yeah. Yeah. And I, I still, I go back to like, I feel like Kirby could have said what he said better initially. And I feel like he's, I'm going to read what he said in, in the press conference on, on Monday.
01:04:25
Speaker
So someone asked about the crowd and this this was his response. He said, you're wanting to make this us against them. That's not really what this is about. We're a team. We're a unit. I think it's okay to say how you feel and try to pull the family together and pull in the right direction. You guys want, want to make it about, well, Kirby said this, we're a team. Let's do this together. Let's help each other, not make it about what he said. And they said, I'm not into that. We need to all be together. When I got hired here, it was all about pulling in the same direction and creating an atmosphere that's hard to play in.
01:04:54
Speaker
You win these games at home and maybe you take it for granted. Uh, if you win so many games at home, but I know this, it's hard. These teams are going on the road all across the SEC. You make it hard on them by what you do and what you create. So it's not about a specific point in time. It's about us all pulling in the same direction. And honestly, like, I feel like if you had just said that it's, it was the, I'm disappointed. I think that, you know, you use language like that. I think it got some people, um,
01:05:19
Speaker
They got me. I mean, it's like we were just talking about like, probably not talking to us because like and I told you we were screaming heads off. I'm going to scream head off against again, again, next game. Um, but you know, you're like, it's not me. It's not me, man. Yeah. mean Yeah. So, you know, I'll admit like I got a little, I got a little defensive, you know, Saturday and Sunday personally. And, um, but at this point, you know,
01:05:40
Speaker
he He gave us some clarification points of clarification and honestly at this point, I'm like, you know what? All right, fine. Like like challenge is accepted. like Let's just, we'll be, we'll be even louder. Um, so I, here's the other thing I'll say, like, Hey, I don't like that that. Those are the words he used. Uh, however, I bet you it works.
01:06:00
Speaker
Yeah. The place is going to be loud. He knows he, he, did he may not have said it the best, but he also knows what he's doing. Yeah. He's trying to route. He's trying to route everybody out. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. Um, okay. I don't know anything else on that. I don't know if there's anything else like super specific.
01:06:17
Speaker
I know Riley wanted to know two to three ideas to make it louder, but I think you hit on some of the things that we could do to improve from Saturday. I mean, the making it louder, I think that there were some questions that have come up that I've seen on some Twitter posts and social media posts that they felt like that there was crowd noise within the piped in music and stuff. Yeah.
01:06:40
Speaker
So, I mean, that's the component. like It's artificial, it's not natural, that kind of stuff. I mean, honestly, I think that they should just let the band play on a lot of the stuff. like That's how I feel. I think the the interruptions and the game flow, like to introduce everybody and their brother for whatever political reason, to bring them out on the field and have the stadium crew announcing whatever whatever the case may be. like I recognize that we're we live in a TV world. So in a TV world, let's just dissect that. So in a TV world, you have a big and big time interception, right? You have an interception. It's a change of possession. Yeah. Run it back. Time out. They stop the clock. Usually when they stop the clock, they're they're scheduled they're they're moving to TV. Well, what do they do when they move to TV?
01:07:31
Speaker
Well, in the stadium, they're usually bringing out someone and introducing them. There's not like any, like in game, like excitement or anything like that for the most part. I mean, there's a little bit, they got like the Snapchat filters and stuff like that that I can recall. Yeah. They've got the, the UGA, the UGA game and and whatnot.
01:07:49
Speaker
This is where I feel like an old man because like my reaction to all the people that are like online like saying what they would fix They're like get rid of Baba O'Reilly get rid of the the you know, the fine ugga under the house. I'm like, I like those things So, I don't know. I'm probably I definitely uh, I mean, I also like those things. Yeah but i mean i know think they're I don't know. I think that, i you know, I put a post out like this, there's obviously a ton of different ways that you can interact here. But like the biggest, the biggest takeaway for me is that I hear the coaching staff saying that we're not loud, which when you go back and look at why is he saying that? Well, he's saying that because he's not hearing us in the stands. If he's not hearing us in the stands, what are we doing?
01:08:33
Speaker
Yeah. How do you know what we're doing? Um, well, if you have like a state of the art system that can track people on what they're doing, like say the wifi, for example, you log onto the stadium wifi and it's showcasing what, what you're doing. Like maybe there's bottlenecks somewhere in the, in the, in the game day experience, like that kind of thing. Um, but the other side of it, the other side of that coin is that number one, you've got, we've had, we haven't had the best home schedule yeah thus far. Right. Yeah.
01:09:03
Speaker
um We've had neutral site, we've had Tennessee Tech, we've had Auburn, we've got Mississippi State. like these are These are games that are definitely SEC games, but they're not top tier opponents and all that kind of stuff. So there's that natural yeah situation. But then you also just have, you know okay, why are the fans not engaged? like If I were if i were were someone that was putting on these things, like why are you not engaged?
01:09:26
Speaker
I kind of put it as a like a comparison for my company. you know If you have a client that you're trying to talk to and they're not engaged in in the meetings that you offer or that they they skip your meetings to review what's what's going on with their business, um you know when you get them on the phone, they're not super engaged with your suggestions and recommendations and offering. like If they're not engaged, that's an indicative of something that we're maybe not doing and delivering properly on our side of things. like Where did we go wrong to make you feel that way? and I think that's a fair it's a fair assessment. like What did but can we do to to help help this situation? yeah Scheduling is going to definitely be a part of that. but
01:10:08
Speaker
Overall, I think that I'm probably not talking to the Morris Hall crew. but Yeah, yeah. That's why I don't know. Like I said, I was kind of a certain way on Sunday. At this point, I'm with a hug dog and a hu hug dog tweeted out like, you know what? Our coach challenges us. Let's just less's you know challenge accepted and let's go be loud in that place. That's kind of that's really all I'm thinking about at this point. So.
01:10:34
Speaker
I don't know cowboy up folks. Let's do it. All right. Uh, okay. So this one, um, next up I think is an interesting one and something that we've been discussing. Um, the, okay. John Michael D says hashtag unofficial official watch this week.
01:10:54
Speaker
Still love Kiaris, hashtag dd dgd. um What's the best way to get everything right before the trip to Austin? So um so the the the tweet soliciting questions had a gif of, you know, the original unofficial official Y receiver but of the podcast, Kiaris Jackson. are we Are we ready to announce? Are we are we solid on our unofficial ah official?
01:11:17
Speaker
I know we've had some conversations in texts. Are we ready to name it or do we still have to wait a little bit? How are you feeling? I feel like we gotta wait a little bit. We've had a wide receiver shakeup most likely this weekend, right? So there's hopefully some newer faces, but I do feel confident about the unofficial, official tight end of my gun clock. People are talking. People are talking.
01:11:44
Speaker
Oh man, you know, one might be lucky if they knew who that was. bad um Ask yourself this question. Do you feel lucky? ah Nice. So yeah. um Okay. So we'll we'll maybe hold off another week. There is a leading candidate or there has been, although and I think I know where, why you're hesitant, but that's fine. I'm hesitant. I'm hesitant. yeah We're hopeful. Hopeful. Hopeful.
01:12:19
Speaker
um and i think I think the best way um to get everything right before the trip to Austin is just to fail. why my thing work amazing this is where and This is the best part because this is where like John Michael de makes fun of me fumbling with the sound board. That's the best way to get ready for Texas. That is the best way to get ready for Texas. We've got the high pace we get the high high power.
01:12:42
Speaker
ah High-paced offense. yeah Maybe not so much high-powered, but um that's where you start. you know Get used to used to moving moving quickly and getting to the line and getting your play calls in. like this this is This is practice, guys. like On paper, this is a practice game. so Show up, execute, and get ready for the big boys that are ranked number one in the country ahead of you.
01:13:09
Speaker
yeah And which by the way, the only win that Mississippi state has was against Eastern Kentucky. So just, I mean, and they also lost the Toledo and they lost a full of Florida. This is why Florida only house has two L's right now. Um, in, in, in their spelling because they beat Mississippi state.
01:13:25
Speaker
and I'll continue. All right. um Let's see. We got we I like this. We had an update from from Gene. ah You know, Gene had ah the out week of Georgia, Alabama. He was you know dealing having to deal with living around Alabama folks. and So he's an update from Alabama after last week. ah Things are quiet and delicious this week. Good dogs. So glad to hear it, Gene. ah Losing to Vanderbilt, I suppose. We'll we'll do that hu in Alabama. All right. So not before this morning.
01:13:52
Speaker
yeah Yeah, I think he actually said that yesterday. Let's see, Jimmy Duncan. All right. This is our ah our ode to the pirate. What would Mike Leach, RIP, say about Vandy's win this this past weekend? And then secondly, what's your favorite Mike Leach moment slash quote?
01:14:09
Speaker
I feel like I can kind of merge the two, honestly, um for me. for a day should Should I just let it loose? Are you are you ready for this? Just let it loose. Okay, so this is what Mike Leach, let's say like, this is what he would say about Alabama's players. Sit behind a ah shade tree to fish sandwich and drink a lemonade with your fat little girlfriend. I still can i can't believe He said that. Oh man. He was such a legend. did His press conference was were so good. They were so good. And like the the shade tree and lemonade thing. Like that was a recurring thing. Like that happened at least twice that I know of. Man, he was awesome.
01:14:57
Speaker
Yeah, I would say that that's that's probably pretty good. Although he did have the quotes from ah Friday Night Lights, right? Oh, yeah. Yeah. You gotta to find your inner pirate. Gotta find your inner pirate. Swing your swing your sword. Swing your sword. Swing your sword. That was the book, too. That was the the Michael each book will swing your sword.
01:15:15
Speaker
Yeah, I'll say he like dude like what didn't he have like some big quotes about like what kind of animal would he be or something like that? My my my favorite so my next favorite other than the shade tree in lemonade Uh is the way was when he was at washington state and someone asked him like if the mascots Were all to like battle ah the pack 12 mascots were to battle each other like who would win and he starts like going through like what the various things are and like He's like, I mean, a sun devil, like, does it have mystical powers? And like, he just goes through all this whole thing about like why each mascot would defeat the other one. That's probably my second favorite. That's that's yeah. That must be, that must be what I was thinking of. Cause I could have sworn, I could have sworn that he had some, some kind of quote like that. Yeah. Yeah. He, he, he was a legend. Legend.
01:16:03
Speaker
very missed very missed i'll i'll i'll throw i'll throw a hunter a bone he did have the bigfoot he did talk about bigfoot amazing he threw he said we found bones of dinosaurs and everything else but we haven't found bones there that i've heard of of of bigfoot it would be fun if there's bigfoot i hope there's bigfoot but my guess would be there's not well said well said uh All right. Hopefully we did that justice. Big, big fans of the pirate R.I.P. How do you kill a sun devil? How do you kill a sun devil? So good. All right. I've got something new for you, John. OK. Hadn't have not debuted this yet. Incredible. Had a conversation with Hugdog on, you know, we had talked about maybe some theme music. What were we going to do here? And
01:16:53
Speaker
I read an idea with them and let's, I'm not sure how well executed this was, but now it's time for Jason's would you rather. All right. Jason's would you rather. Okay. I feel like, I feel like what we really need to do is just get like, uh, the, I don't know what song it was that they were singing that he would sink to. There was like fireball. Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah. From the tailgate. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. That would be good. Okay. Okay. You might have to do that for next time. Yeah.
01:17:22
Speaker
All right. Jason's, uh, would you rather it from the hug dog? All right. Would you rather ring a cowbells or gator chomp with your arms? And it's pretty easy for me. I'd rather ring a cowbell clarifying question. Okay. Is it after, is it after a victory?
01:17:37
Speaker
Mm. Ooh. Cause then you want to, cause then you want to get your job. I will absolutely get it. I will, I will get her top. Some fans, some Florida fans. over over and You're do the Todd Gurley style, like Gator chomp and then like the no after it. yeah Yeah. Yeah. Okay. That's fair. That's fair. Outside of that, you know, I'd be more willing to rent cowbell than the job, but generally speaking, my, I have a fever and the only prescription for it is cat is more cowbell. Fair, fair.
01:18:05
Speaker
Um, okay. Uh, would you rather run the damn ball or cut it loose and air it out? Uh, I'll let you answer that one first. I mean, just because of my age, I'd have to run the demo.
01:18:20
Speaker
Fair enough. i'll go I'll go against the grain and say cut it loose and air it out. I'm good with that. I'm good with that. Would not see would not mind seeing Carson do that this weekend. I would like to see, you so this is what I'd like to see. Like right now, I kind of envision Carson Beck is working on his his magnum opus. um you know he's he's He's got the symphonies, he's building things, and you know he's got eventually he's going to put it all together, and he's going to put together his opus, right? And he's going to get reach the crescendo, and I don't know if I'm using these band terms right, sorry. Sorry, Brett Belding. Yeah, correct us. But I think that he's he's kind of working his way up there, um and that's that's kind of how I how i feel. Okay, I like it.
01:19:08
Speaker
ah Would you rather sip them seltzer or tall cold beer? I know your answer. I know we have the same answer. bro I have to say, like this side note, okay of all of the beers in the world, like the shower beer on vacation, postmobier um the your very first Sanford Stadium beer is an epic beer.
01:19:33
Speaker
Yeah. Um, yeah. And, and for me, it was, it was a tall, tall cold beer. Um, good cold beer. Yeah. Um, same. and And that's definitely, that's definitely my, my selection there, but the has to be said, Sipham seltzer of all of the recommendations that I had for how to increase fan, um, engagement, awareness, excitement, whatever the, whatever the case may be. Um,
01:20:00
Speaker
having something that you can only get in sanford stadium would be an epic thing the symptom seltzer was that way for like a week because you know i couldn't find it anywhere yeah for that first week that it came out but like so you could only get it at the stadium at that time and frankly it's just not that great um it's it's as shelters go it's not like terrible but it's not like the worst it's not the best thing in the world so yeah I probably will never order one again, unless I'm ordering one for, you know, a female companion or whoever that wants ah a seltzer. But, um, yeah, yeah. Yeah. I ordered one for cam. I had a sip seltzers in general, aren't my thing other than the happy dad ah death row, but.
01:20:39
Speaker
um like i like the sultzers I like the Seltzer's on the beach. like I could probably doctor that sucker up. like Usually when I'm drinking Seltzer's, I'm doctoring him up. okay okay um But yeah, on the beach, it's an easy it's an easy easy drinker, Seltzer's in general. The Sipplums, it's mid, as the kids say. Nice.
01:21:02
Speaker
Uh, and then would you rather improve in-game experience or watch from comforts of home? I mean, I would always rather be there personally. Um, so I'm going with the former. I'll watch from comforts of tailgate. but mom There we go.
01:21:17
Speaker
There we go. I'm a huge fan of of watching the game from the Telegate, man. i I really enjoy it. It's ah you know as fun as an in-game experience. If I can't be there with the Wood Clan yeah or with Carter, or if I can't be there with some other folks that I like know intimately, um if it's not as ah great. So I'd much rather be at the Telegate with people that are going to be great. That's a good call.
01:21:46
Speaker
Uh, he, he wrapped, rounded out, uh, this is along, along the lines of what he tweeted out tonight. Just, he said, Kirby wants more fan noise and energy. Consider it done. I'm in. So ah agreed hug dog. I think that's the attitude we want to take in there on Saturday. All right. That is it for the listener questions, except for.
01:22:11
Speaker
my god a freshman trying to put glasses on it it is time for coach trill bills over unders and jp as the leader of the coaches over unders you get to decide do you want to go first or do you want me to go first do you want the ball or do you want to defer a I'll take the ball. Okay. Just looking at looking at how this sets up. I'll take the ball first. Okay. So first one up is starting up with the offense. Carson Beck passing touchdowns over under two and a half.
01:22:49
Speaker
I'm going to go over. Okay. Um, I'm going to have to agree with you there. I will go over. Um, next up over under one and a half touchdowns for ETN. Um, he had two against Auburn. Um, man. So we're going to have over two for now. I'm trying to make my math match up with my score prediction. Just kidding.
01:23:11
Speaker
Uh, I'm going to go over again. Okay. Uh, I'll hit the over on that one as well. Okay. Then over to you, um, over under three and a half running backs with a carry clarifying question, Jim, here actual position running backs. Ooh, that is a good question.
01:23:31
Speaker
Here's what I'll, you know, here's what I would say. So let's say I don't think an end around counts. Okay. I would, I would tend to agree, but I'm just clarifying. Yeah. But if, let's say if Dylan Bell lines up at tailback for a play and gets a carry, then I would say maybe I think that counts. Oh, okay. Throwing a little, throwing a little wrinkle in there. Like wildcat. You got a little wildcat situation. Does that count? Well, i see, I do mean wildcat doesn't count. Coach is like, Oh my gosh, why? I was wrong.
01:24:00
Speaker
To me Wildcat does yeah, but if he lines up behind the quarterback that counts that's just my my two cents The way I read the way I read the question is that it's it's like pre-game position pre-game position running back Okay, we can go with that. I'm totally fine. It's either way either way. I just I was just trying to best with you um Either way, I'm going over So good me too. Why did we talk about a lot of stuff? This is why we annoy people Um, okay. Over to me on the defense, uh, over under two and a half sacks. And then he, he added a question or is this just a show me. So, um, two and a half sacks. I'm going to say over. I'm also going to go over. Oh man. They, they showed you this last year. They did show me. they're They're showing me. Yeah. I like, I like Ty Dawkins. I do too. I do too. Um, okay. Over to you over under 145 Mississippi state passing yards.
01:24:54
Speaker
Mm hmm. I'm going to go through a good line. Yeah. Feels like a good line. Hold on. I'm looking at something real quick. The average 243 against all opponents. That's not just. I'm going to go over. OK. Yeah, I'm going to go over to. I just I'll go over. And then for me, tackles for loss over under six and a half. I'm going to go under. I'm going to go over.
01:25:24
Speaker
Okay, and then over to you over under four and a half total plants. This is our specialty total plants. total pun is our special teams are just a total sorry, all special teams. Okay.
01:25:36
Speaker
Oh, I'm going to go under. OK. Hmm. It's going to go under. I'm going to go over. Ah, ah. OK. And then last, uh, miscellaneous over under bully and Ugga on the telecast slash jumbotron point five. I'm going to go over. Over. Yeah, agreed. Agreed.
01:25:58
Speaker
All right. Do they like line them up together? Like, uh, you know, a lot of times they will have like, when there's the two dogs, they'll get them together like before the game and like get a photo op usually. So I would expect that to happen. Curious to see how boom, how boom treats it, and treats it. Yeah. Well, coach Trill, thank you, uh, for the overall over unders as always. Uh, and it was was great to see you this last weekend.
01:26:21
Speaker
All right, time for the predictions. So for this game, uh, as of the time that I put all of this together, um, Georgia is favored by 34. So 34 points for ed over under a 53 and a half that gives an implied score of like 44 to 10, basically 43 and three quarters to nine, three quarters.

Um, the odd shock predicted score is Georgia 41, uh, to 23, uh, for the YouTube folks, I'm putting up some, uh, some graphs on some of the stats as well from a cultural insiders. Um, which the collegeable insiders, their predicted score is Georgia 39.17 to 11.8.
01:27:01
Speaker
um And then I did our scoring impact again. um So if you take our, what we're, how we're affecting our opponent's averages against the power five and what Mississippi State is scoring against the power five, you'd get Georgia 40 to 13, basically.
01:27:20
Speaker
um So everything leans to a fairly large ah victory by the dogs. Um, I don't have any reason to go away from that. Like I said, um, these guys have, these guys have really struggled. I know they, I know they switched, they switched quarterbacks. Um, I mean, their only win to this point is Eastern Kentucky. Um, I'm going to go dogs 41 to 10, the Georgia Bulldogs, 41 to 10.
01:27:47
Speaker
I'm going to go 43 to 43 to 14. Okay. Cool. I like it. All right. Um, protect the ball, win the game. That's how I feel about this one. Protect the ball, win the game, execute your offense, get your, get your starters off the dang field. Um, and then just keep executing. Period.
01:28:09
Speaker
Yep. All right. Let's let's look at some of the the games around the sec coach gave us some pickup games Um, get the fighting hunters are in here again. Uh, number nine. Ole Miss is a three and a half point favorite at number 13 lsu Uh hunter told us that to him the lsu rivalry is a bigger rivalry for Ole Miss than Mississippi State He said it's He said it's kind of like, uh, Georgia, Florida for him. Um, so if you're in the, if you're in the boat, that feels that Florida is a bigger rival than Georgia tech. That's how Hunter feels about, uh, Ole Miss and LSU as opposed to Mississippi state. I don't do, I got like all my picks around last week. um Um, so don't listen to me. Um, and we're doing it straight up. We're not even doing the spread. I mean, I think Ole Miss should win all the minutes it's at LSU. I just, I haven't,
01:28:57
Speaker
I haven't seen it from LSU this year. So I'm going to go, I'm going to, I think I'm going to go with Ole Miss. Listen, Jim, this is Ole Miss LSU in Death Valley. It is at night. If you're playing LSU in Death Valley at night and they're a decent ish team, like they're ranked 13th in the country for a reason, right?
01:29:20
Speaker
Right. um I like, I got to give the edge to LSU there. Sorry. Sorry. youre honor um i've got I've got, I've got to give LSU the nod on that one. Oh, good. I'm not gonna, I can't, I can't, uh, fault you for that logic. That's logical. Um, let's see, we got full of Lorda at Tennessee at number eight, number eight Tennessee coming off a loss. Uh, but the vols are favored by 15 and a half. Seems low. Yeah.
01:29:48
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, the Tennessee it was like you you talked about it in our last episode, like the Tennessee offense is kind of slowing down a bit. um and Florida has been has really had these guys number two. I don't know. Kind of interesting. I still I just I don't see Florida winning though at Tennessee. It's tough to win on the tough to win on the road in the SEC, particularly when the team doesn't care about your coach.
01:30:13
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. So I'm going to, I'm going to stick with stick with Genesee. Yeah. You got to give the nod to the, you gotta give the nod to the, the fat fat fills. Yeah. Uh, let's see South Carolina at number seven, Alabama, the tide are favored by 21. Curious to see what the, um,
01:30:32
Speaker
I'm curious to see what the atmosphere is like in Tuscaloosa this weekend. Poor Shane Beamer. Is Du Bois going to get upset with his fans for not cheering loud enough? We'll who'll see. I don't know. But I guess the bigger question is going to be like ordinarily this like rebound game for Alabama would be where they like dunk on folks, right? Yeah. Yeah. and That was under the old regime. This is the new regime where they've got players that are literally telling coaches to F-Hoff on the field. So I don't know, the man, it could be a toss up at this point. Who the heck knows? What I do know is that UGA put on film, like how to dismantle this team. And it feels like Vanderbilt took it to a tee. So, Hey man, and Shane Beamer, you got the answers to the test. See what you do with it. Yeah.
01:31:19
Speaker
He's still not gonna pass it down. Yeah, Bama's gonna win. Narrator. He did not pass it down. Yeah, he did not. All right, and then the last one is the... Oh, they tried to rename it. Is it Red and River? Red River Shootout. Number 18 Oklahoma against number one Texas. This is a neutral site game at the Cotton Bowl. So this is kind of like, you know, the the cocktail party. we We'll call it what's supposed to be called.
01:31:46
Speaker
Uh, number one, Texas is favored by 14 and a half. Um, I mean, I've got Texas, I think Oklahoma has looked, they've definitely looked better since they switched quarterbacks. Um, I like the freshman quarterback, but I don't see them having the office to be able to keep up with Texas from what I've seen. Yeah. Give me Texas. Number one, rolling into Austin next week versus a UGA team that has got something to prove. Nice. Nice. I like it.
01:32:13
Speaker
and I like it. All right, man, that is it. Um, so I will be, I'll be there. We're like I said, we'll be rolling in Saturday. I don't know what time we'll get it. So I don't know how much the tailgate there'll be kind of depends on how we're early we're able to get up. Um, and you know, uh, we've got to work in the run because Kim has me, uh, we've agreed that we've got to do the runs now.
01:32:35
Speaker
Um, the couples run on the more, you know, on the day of the game. So how's that going to work? Jim? I don't know. My joke was if we stayed at that birthday party, kind of late, what if we run after midnight and then go to bed? Does that count?
01:32:50
Speaker
Uh Yeah, it would be ah it would be a lot cooler. Um Like what like I mean that seriously like how are you gonna do this? And we'll just get up early, you know run and then shower and then go to yeah We just got to get up early enough to do all that. So You know, it would only take like a half mile to improve the performance against Alabama. So ah all we got to do is run around the block. It doesn't have to be, you know, the 5K or anything. Yeah, it doesn't have to be. We don't we don't have a set ah distance, so.
01:33:23
Speaker
I've got like a, I've got like a nice little, little path that I, that I run here. That's like, I could, I could squirrel it and go three, go, go three miles, or I can just stick straight up. to just Just straight out and straight back two miles. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Cause we did like, it's pretty easy. We did two miles at my parents' house, um, on this past Saturday. So that seemed good. That seemed like that was, that worked out pretty nicely. So.
01:33:51
Speaker
Cool. Well, y'all enjoy, uh, enjoy all the sporting events. Um, I'll keep you posted. Yeah. Yeah. Keep us in, we'll stay in touch at the week. Yeah, man. Bizarro dogs are rolling in Athens. Always weird stuff. Hey, man. You only have so many times that you get into Athens and we've got an SCC game and our head coach is telling us to get loud. So if I'm not there, you got to cheer double for me. Jim will do. I can handle that. Awesome. Go dogs. Go dogs.
