Rachel's Role Update

00:00:35
Speaker
Hello, hello. This is Rachel here. I have a little bit of a unique episode. It's going to be short and sweet. Just a little bit of an update on what I am doing and what you can expect from Jen and Bloom After Baby.

Friendship and Stress Management in Bloom After Baby

00:00:51
Speaker
So as many of you know, Jenny and I have been friends for over 10 years now. And we've been through a lot of young adult and adulting life phases and changes together.
00:01:05
Speaker
One of our biggest intentions going into launching Bloom After Baby was that we would prioritize our friendship and our own individual stress and burnout management above all. And that we would also continue having open, possibly sometimes uncomfortable conversations throughout this whole process.

Rachel's Personal Announcement

00:01:25
Speaker
Jenny came to me with this idea about a year ago and I maintain the full enthusiasm now that I had then for this beautiful vision of hers to create a safe, non-judgmental, science-backed online forum and community for perinatal wellness education for new mothers.
00:01:46
Speaker
As of this month, I'll be stepping away and giving Jen full reign over this baby of hers due to experiencing my own personal burnout and having some difficulty balancing my existing therapy practice, my business growth coming out of my second round of maternity leave and the needs of my family and of myself.

Practicing What You Preach

00:02:06
Speaker
One of my greatest convictions as a therapist and a human is to practice what I preach. And I know that this is something I really need to let go of right now as hard as it is for the sake of my own wellness and balance. I will still be remaining active on my therapist account at Rachel's couch. And I know that this will not be my last time showing up in the podcast space as I've loved, loved, loved doing it.
00:02:31
Speaker
I hope that this can give you all, if you're listening, permission also to take a look at what's on your plate and to be okay with stepping away and letting go of things when they're not serving your best interest.

Modeling Tough Decisions

00:02:48
Speaker
We've talked a lot about resentment and burnout in motherhood.
00:02:53
Speaker
Hopefully, this can be one way that I can model making hard decisions and having uncomfortable conversations, and as Brene Brown says, choosing discomfort over resentment. Please, please, please stick around because Dr.

Jen's Future Contributions

00:03:10
Speaker
Jen has so much to teach you and so much to offer you, and I cannot wait
00:03:14
Speaker
to see where she takes Boom After Baby from here. I will be supporting and remaining involved from the sidelines. What we've all built all together so far, you included, is a beautiful, important, and incredibly impactful thing.

Open Discussions on Maternal Mental Health

00:03:30
Speaker
The internet, of course, has its downsides, but we have to keep having tough conversations, especially about the mental health of our mothers and our families openly and without judgment, stigma, or prejudice.
00:03:43
Speaker
This is how we change the world. So please stay, breathe, be well, and keep growing, mama.
