Starting the Podcast and Filming Adventures

and we are back what up nippity boppity boo bitch i thought you would like that one adorable i was literally about to say like i never i i hope that i figure out how to start these things and not feel awkward soon ah Well, leave it up to me. I can take that. I can take that from you. I don't know why. i like I don't tend to feel awkward in these situations for some reason. Did I ever tell you about the time that John wanted to make a commercial and we like filmed the commercial together on the rooftop of a building in Detroit? No, you never told me this at all. Because I completely forgot about it. That's why.
00:01:12
Speaker
Anyway, his friend Charlie who was like, oh God, they worked together at a news station years ago and Charlie took our pictures for our wedding. And I'm trying to remember exactly what the hell the commercial was even for, but it was for some business venture that never panned out. Anyhow, he had written a script and everything and we were standing we were supposed to stand together and like we each had a line or some something. and And I was just like swaying it and he was just like, bah, bah, bah, bah, bah. Because he's so natural and he is unnatural in every way.
00:01:51
Speaker
Well, anyhow, he he he had a career behind the camera, i like not in front of the camera. Like he was a behind the scenes dude at the news station. So right he has a really good voice though. And like, I really think that he would do awesome with voiceovers that are voicing commercials, ads, whatever, like that kind of thing.
00:02:14
Speaker
Yeah, but no, he froze up. And I don't even know if we ever got a like one good take that whole day. And it wasn't like we were there all day, but it was you know an hour maybe or two that we were trying to do it. Do you remember what the commercial was for? That's what I was saying. um I don't remember exactly because it was some business venture. And I want to say, okay, it's maybe a little bit of a long story, but Before we got pregnant with the boy, he wanted to buy an old rundown radio station, no, TV station, excuse me, on the west side of Michigan. It was for sale.
00:02:51
Speaker
And it was like, I want to say it was $200,000, which it probably wasn't even worth that, but you got property, you got a building, you got a humongous tower, like broadcast tower. And all the people who advertised on it would have come with it. So like, you know, it had ah pretty much everything was in place, but it was super outdated. Anyhow, he, he like wanted to do a GoFundMe to raise the money to buy the station. I mean, we were talking about relocating to the west side of Michigan for it and everything. Wow. Yeah. And so we went out there, we met the owner, and that guy flipped out when John mentioned trying to raise the money by crowdfunding. like I don't know what the hell his problem was.

The Michigan Move and Personal Growth

00:03:33
Speaker
He's super old. like He was like in his mid-70s easily, and like he probably didn't understand what that even meant. But as soon as he heard that, he was just like not even going to deal with John. So it was like, okay, never mind.
00:03:50
Speaker
So anyhow, I wanted to say I want to say I think John was doing a commercial for that, for something to do with that, for the crowdfund. I don't even know. I can't remember. I'll have to ask him because I don't remember it. But here I was like, I had no problem looking right in the camera and seeing my line and even acting you know kind of funny or you know yeah whatever. And he just froze up. like And I'm just like, dude, what is your deal?
00:04:20
Speaker
Like, for as gregarious and loud and talkative as he is, you wouldn't expect him to just freeze up and just not know what the hell to do. But anyway, so yeah. i it's I don't know why I feel like ah I just want to make this comment. And again, we will certainly be filling in the blanks and expanding in a future episode. But I think if you had moved to the western portion of Michigan, I would never have found you.
00:04:49
Speaker
Yeah, it just occurred to me like that may not have fallen into place the way that it did if you weren't where if you weren't where you are.
00:05:00
Speaker
I mean, i totally and i totally like I totally understand why you would think that. But in my mind, it's like if things are meant to work out, they are going to find a way. And I think it would have found a way. So that's how I feel. Yeah, I guess I was like arriving at it from the opposite direction of just sort of like that thing did not come together because we were supposed to find each other.
00:05:21
Speaker
huh
00:05:23
Speaker
eyeing the baing station So through because we were supposed to find each other. Maybe? Maybe. I don't know. That's where I arrived at with it. Anyway, and we're not goingnna we're not going to expound on that right now. Yeah. So um yeah, did not know that about, or did not know that story.
00:05:45
Speaker
Yeah, that's cool. I think it would have been a lot of fun. And I would have definitely been into it. Like I would have gotten into the workings of the station, how to run things. Like I think it would have been a lot of fun. And yeah, even still, even now, I probably would still be into doing something like that. Well, that's literally what we're here doing right now.
00:06:06
Speaker
I mean, yeah, we're not running a whole TV show. No, we're not. But we are running our own show. It wasn't a TV show. I mean, I meant like a whole TV station. Yeah. No, but we we are doing our own thing. This is like, that's that's the thing about podcasting is that it is broad casting in a way. So yeah, that's what you it's we're we're doing it anyway.
00:06:34
Speaker
Yeah.

Exploring Sabbats and Spiritual Practices

00:06:35
Speaker
I like your pink hair. Oh, thank you. It wasn't pink the last time we did this. And now it is. It looks very, it's it's um taking on a really nice like blush tone. Like it's, obviously it's certainly like washing out a little, but it's like, rather than being super electric hot pink, it's like a nice soft shade. It's really nice. Yeah. And for some reason down by the roots through here, it's extra light. It's like maybe because umm when I wash my hair, I go like, you know, I wash my scalp.
00:07:05
Speaker
right it looks nice anyway thanks yeah anyway it is on this day of recording it is august first And for us of the witchcraft persuasion, that is a day that we love. It is called lemas or lunasa. And it's personally one of my favorite sabets. I've never ever gotten a confirmation on how to pronounce that word. um ah But it's one of my favorites of the year. Not only because of my birthday month. Exactly.
00:07:44
Speaker
Exactly. And it should. Just like Halloween is my favorite holiday because it's the same month as my birth as well. I mean, it's not just because of that, but it's always been my favorite. yeah I love that season. Yeah. There's something special about it, man.
00:08:01
Speaker
Um, and in particular, like what I've found that i I think is really special about this season, August in particular, La Masse in particular, that like is, if you think about the year, uh, you know, January to December as like one full like day cycle, like midnight to midnight, August to me is like the golden hour. And then September you start approaching twilight.
00:08:27
Speaker
and then October it starts to get really dark. But August is golden hour, which is like another favorite of mine, like favorite time of the day, especially in the autumn. And in this like portion of the year, it just is really, really stunning, visually stunning. And I, you know, you look at anything the mass related, if you look it up, you know, I've not checked to Google, but I certainly have checked Pinterest. know And like all the pictures that you see are like,
00:08:56
Speaker
that exact vibe, you know. Sometimes they're, you know, photos taken at golden hour, you got the sunshine like going through the wheat fields and and and everything is really wheat focused. It's like a very bread heavy holiday. Bread heavy. Bread It's ah it's the um the first of three harvest holidays. Yeah. And so bread is major with that because wheat is major with harvest.
00:09:25
Speaker
um huh And so like it's just like such a beautiful, like I feel like I come alive during this time of the year. And again, not be only because it's my birthday month. um um It's just invigorating. a yeah And I'm so stoked, especially now, to be approaching the portion of the year where I feel so good and like feel so like vibrant internally, paired with us starting this project together.
00:09:57
Speaker
and working on it and like getting ready to release it. We still don't yet have like a land release date, but you know we're we're making ah substantial strides toward it, um and it should be soon, and I cannot wait for it. Oh my God, I cannot wait for it. Yeah. so like being able to work on these projects together and be in my element emotionally and mentally and spiritually in this time of the year.
00:10:33
Speaker
I just um i hope ah hope that I don't eat my words later, but like I really, really look forward to seeing what comes out of this. Out of the podcast. Out of out of the podcast. Out of like this time of the period of time. you know like What sort of stuff are we going to be able to do? And is it going to be like so much better than we even imagined? You know? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I think that's the beauty of it is like, we're doing it because we've wanted to do it because it's fun, because we enjoy talking to each other, all of those things.
00:11:11
Speaker
And we have no idea the potential of it. So that's going to be that's going to be the best part of of all of it. is I mean, not not necessarily the best part, but I just think the mystery of what could happen is definitely a vibe. Does that make sense? Absolutely, it makes sense. It's so just like the, the um ah because I was about to say untapped, but it's not that's not the right term. ah It's the Unimagined potential. You know, we haven't even posted these. We don't have a listenership yet as we are physically sitting here recording right now. We don't have a listener base. We don't have, we only have still the one Instagram post. I think as soon as I know when we're going to be releasing these episodes, I will be putting up another Instagram post, you know, to announce it. And, but like, there's just so, there's like not a whole lot of like tangibility there.
00:12:11
Speaker
yet but personally and i think i said this too but i still feel it and i want to say it again i feel like we're doing pretty damn well so far at it you know and i feel like as time goes on and as we get more into a groove with it like yeah it's like it feels like infinite potential for sure yep i agree your cheekbones are so prominent in the light Right now? No, it's just, it's just a fat. It's just... No, it's the cheekbones. No, this is chub right here. No, it ain't, girl.
00:12:51
Speaker
Yeah, the light is almost, the light is one of those horrible... Fluorescent? Yes, like a tube fluorescent light, o like a shop light, literally, and it is almost directly overhead. You should get yourself like a nice like mood lamp and turn off the overhead light. Good idea. It might take the big light. know Oh, it's good for when I'm working, do my other stuff, but you know, yeah. And I still want to get like my incense and maybe a couple of candles or something. A little stock sitting right there. As I was thinking about lights, I was like, I'm going to turn off my desk lamp. It's like so bright in my freaking eyeball right now. And it's been on all day. um Yeah, we are ah highly distractible today, I think.
00:13:41
Speaker
ADHD. ADHD. Oh man. Squirrel. Oh my god. Literally. Sorry. but no it like Literally that was like the ADD joke that my middle school friend would make all the time.
00:14:00
Speaker
yeah Yeah, Julie, ah my friend who whose basement I am in, she was talking to me about my ADHD stuff, like things that she noticed. And I started to talk to her about it, like I was, you know, replying to her and all of a sudden I go squirrel.
00:14:18
Speaker
ah She just started cracking up, like, I just looked up to the side and squirrel. She starts cracking up. Anyway, she's really easy to make laugh and I love that about her because... Oh, I love people like that. I love making her laugh though. Yeah. That's awesome. I love that. Yeah. Anyway, ADHD backwards, working backwards. Where were we? Lamass. Lunasa.
00:14:42
Speaker
um Yeah, and you know, i I actually saw something about that um earlier, or listened to something about that. um They said that it's the Wicca community who tends to use the term lamass.
00:15:00
Speaker
Yeah, more than anything else. Yeah, Lunasaw is the more um Celtic, Gallic, traditional term name for the holiday, because it's based off of the god Lu. Yeah, I found that out too, because I wanted to do a little tiny bit of research before we started recording today. I did no research.
00:15:24
Speaker
i'm probably going to be just giving half-truths and like assumptions a lot in this. but Made up facts. But I have

Candles in Rituals and Traditions

00:15:35
Speaker
also been like paying attention to the Wheel of the Year for how long now? About eight years now. I really so i really started to pay attention to it when I was... the the It was the same year I graduated college.
00:15:51
Speaker
so 2016 and so like in and not that I've like actively celebrated every holiday every year because that's like the furthest thing from the truth I even told myself like oh this year this year 2024 I'm gonna start like I'm gonna make sure to start to celebrate every single sabbath and I fucking failed at Ostara like ah he I celebrated in bulk and then I just failed after that. wow um but you know Who cares? I mean, yes, who cares, but also like, she's like, man, I really wanted to, but it's okay. That's the nice thing about the Wheel of the Year is that it turns and everything comes back around and you get the chance to celebrate it next year. Now, you remember me lamenting having that Beltane candle and forgetting to light the motherfucker for two years in a row on Beltane? Oh, yeah.
00:16:50
Speaker
And then you were just like, you know, you can light that whenever you want, right? I was like, no, I want to burn it on Beltane, damn it. But it was like within a week of Beltane, so I just started to burn it. And I was like, God damn it. I was like, I'm just...
00:17:07
Speaker
got to burn it. But yeah, anyway. Yeah, because I look at that type of thing as like, oh, if you want like the energy of Beltane, that's when you burn it, even if it's not like the time of year. But you know, that makes sense. Yeah, then I think about what's the energy of Beltane and it's fucking. um Exactly. I'm like, okay, so is it like a mood candle? Do you like light it on Valentine's Day too? Like, I don't know. um No, I just thought you would burn it on Beltane because it's the fair holiday, you know, whatever. Yeah, no, I get that. boom I think I would like to, and in a perfect world, I'd have one for each sabbat and spend the whole day with it burning on my altar as I do my thing, go through the day doing my thing, with whether it's magical or mundane.
00:18:04
Speaker
And, uh, you know, but have it there, like the way people and is it the Catholic church that just sort of like lights a candle and keeps it burning for like a period of time to like, you know, commemorate something or like, uh, I'm not sure. I don't know anything about the Catholic church. I don't know why I said that, but like, I think of those candles as like, I have particularly like the seven day candles, the real tall glass ones. Um, those, like I i associate those with Catholicism, particularly with the, um,
00:18:33
Speaker
the saints and the Virgin Mary. um And so I think of that as like a, oh, and you're like burning towards a purpose, you know, burning the candle towards a purpose, like, yeah you know, and in particular honoring a saint or something. But I don't know, that's why my association, my association went to Catholicism.
00:18:55
Speaker
Yeah, because they do sell those obviously, but I'm picturing in a cathedral or some other type of car. Oh yeah, the little small lights in No, there. the white pillar candles, like they might be fat pillars, but they're like, I think they're just white and you just light it when you're praying. And I think when you set it down, it's like, that's like your intention for the prayer. And like, it burns till it's out. And I don't know if that helps to manifest it or whatever it is. So when I think of like the candles in a Catholic, I cannot even say words, a Catholic church, I think of
00:19:37
Speaker
the little ones in the red candle holders. When I think of big candles in a candle church, I think on a candelabra, on a big standing candelabra, not an individual one that a person gets to light and it burns until it goes out, because those I think are, or I thought were a lot smaller.
00:19:59
Speaker
Yeah, I think I can, I think I know what you mean too by the ones with the red and the red papers. Like the little tea lights or whatever they're called. Yeah. I should know that, I'm a witch. e Why don't I know everything about candles?
00:20:13
Speaker
Yeah. I'm gonna Google, do just do a quick Google because I'm really- Are you googling Catholic candles? Catholic candle lighting prayer. That's what's coming up on its own okay in my phone.
00:20:27
Speaker
So, oh wow. Yeah. So there's, there's like just many types. I guess that's not surprising. It's an an enormous organization. Yeah. There's no, no way that they can keep everything uniform.
00:20:40
Speaker
But yeah, I see the tea lights are actually, they're bigger than tea lights, but they're in clear glass. But they're still pretty small. Yeah, they're probably sort of like chins. Right. All in a little like clear glass. And they're white candles. Yeah, they're always white candles for sure. I just, I don't know why or where I saw like the little red glass candle holders. You know, you might be thinking of the movie Carrie.
00:21:07
Speaker
I've seen that movie exactly one time. So I don't think so. I don't think it it's just funny because that reminds me of the mother. She was like, you know, super hyper religious, yeah like psycho person. And she had, I just remember like a whole bunch of candles burning in one one area, like in the front window or on the top of the organ piano so or something. It was like, there's just a whole bunch of them and they were all lit up.
00:21:35
Speaker
I just remember that, like, red glass dealio. Yeah, no, I'm specifically remembering, like, the ones in the churches that have, like, you know, hundreds of them that people go to and light to pray for someone. But yeah, other they those, those, exactly. But I'm picturing red glasses.
00:21:54
Speaker
Yeah, like so these ones are, what are these called? These are tapers or something? They're like the tall skinny ones? Yeah, I think those are tapers. Yeah, that's very blurry, but I can kind of see the shape. Yeah. Yeah. And then, yeah, there's tons of different stuff. Yeah, those rows and rows of them, that's what I'm picturing. um So it's definitely not Carrie.
00:22:17
Speaker
But here's the red glass ones, too. So I don't know if it's showing up for you, but it's definitely red on my end. Yeah. It looks a little, I think, a little more amber-y, but I think that's more to do with the flame.

Traditions and Culinary Delights

00:22:28
Speaker
It's not translating, because I can see the color difference here versus the screen of my phone, and it doesn't look the same. And it is a little pixelated. Right. Yeah. But anyway.
00:22:42
Speaker
Yeah, we digress again. Yeah, I was like, I can't even remember how we got here again. Oh, burning, burning my candle on Beltane, but. Yeah, no, it's ah this is one of the things that I associate with holidays, especially from like childhood, is like food. And so that's been my go to for celebrating these Sabbats. Are you OK? Yeah, my nose is cold. Oh.
00:23:11
Speaker
It's like, why are you holding your face like that? I'm trying to be able to breathe while I'm warming my nose up at the same time. but Sorry. you I was hoping you wouldn't say anything about it. I'm sorry. I just, so you were looking at me so intently that I thought that something was wrong. oh If something was wrong, I'd be like this. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. you um It's okay, it's okay. I'm fine, I promise. Okay, I'm glad. ah But yeah, so like, my association, you know, with holidays and like the way to celebrate them ah is with food, you know, traditions with food. And so like, that was kind of the first thing that I latched on to when it came to celebrating the Sabbats. And it started with at Imbok making braided bread, which is something I still do today.
00:24:04
Speaker
And it's so good. I love it so much. And I would love to do that too. You should. It's fun. It's great. But like the thing that I really like to make around La Masse or Lunasaw is blackberry pie. And it's been a long time since I made blackberry pie and I want to. I'm actually going to for my witchy gathering tomorrow that i'm so excited to go to um i'm gonna make i want to make i haven't actually looked up a recipe yet i want to make blackberry peach cobbler
00:24:42
Speaker
Oh my God, I was going to say cobbler. When you said Blackberry pie, I started thinking and I was like, dude, you should do a cobbler because it's easier, but also peach as well. Yeah. Blackberry peach together. It's so summery. Blackberry, especially for the like end of the summer, you know time of the year. you know I just And I love, I love a peach cobbler like peach and but ah i sound like thinking about it right now. I'm so excited.
00:25:13
Speaker
i yeah and i I don't have a ton of experience making cobbler. I hope that I don't totally botch it. I think it's impossible to botch a cobbler because it's like I know that I could make it because I've read the recipes and I'm just like, oh, God, that's so easy. like My aunt made it one time and she told me how to do it and I was like, ah, that's so easy. Yeah, literally, I just have to like buy a cake mix and like the fruit and then like mix the fruit. mix and put the fruit and put the mix in the oven and then out of the oven and then but it's but it's good.
00:25:49
Speaker
like It should be so easy. I just psych myself out, you know. Don't think about it at all. I don't want to. It's not like I'm drunk. No, don't even think about it. Just go get the shit you need and do it. Look up a recipe, write down what you need to buy at the store and just come home and do it. Boom. Done. Yeah. Super easy.
00:26:15
Speaker
you know You know the crazy combination of fruity things that I did not know that I loved so much? Blueberry and lemon. Oh my God. I love that so much. I know. That's a newer thing in my wheelhouse of stuff. Really? Not that I've made it, but I've had it wherever I've had it. and like Every time I see it on a menu store, I'm just like, oh that is if we're if we're going to associate foods with ah witchcraft holidays that I feel goes in the mid-summer category for sure and the litha category it's like a nice
00:26:56
Speaker
It's a light, bright, early summer feeling flavor profile. Oh, delicious. I love it so much. It's so good. Yes. But yeah. And then, yeah, and then we're headed into fall and it's going to be the best with the coziest flavors and scents. And I am so excited. Oh my God. You know, I'm really, yeah, like,
00:27:26
Speaker
earlier hearing about it's the first of the three harvests, et cetera, like that makes me really want to get more into it. and like Because for some reason, and I don't know why, I mean like i don't know exactly why, but I love Mabon. There's something about the vibe of Mabon that as has always, but since I learned about it,
00:27:50
Speaker
I've always been like, oh my God. I think it's maybe because it's almost like um the foreplay for, you know, Samhain. I don't really know how else to put that, but it's like, it is. It's like a foreplay leading up to Samhain and like, Chloe and I love it. Oh my God.
00:28:14
Speaker
You're right though. Oh, man. That's so true. But it's like, yeah, it's such a beautiful, um you know, again, it's September. It's like, we're like at the very start of the fall season where we're both like so obsessed with fall because we're basic bitches. And the fall equinox is right there. We had and i it's so hard. I want to get into it today because I'm just like, I want to talk about it. But like, ah we'll have to talk about it when it's closer to Mabon.
00:28:44
Speaker
booing like last year when my friend Ben and his girlfriend came to visit. And we had this whole Mabon feast because he is he's like an incredible cook and like so just creative and like talented. Molly. oh Molly. What? well Was it literally Mabon last year that he did that they did that? Him and his girlfriend? Yeah. It's almost a whole year already.
00:29:12
Speaker
it felt I felt like I thought you did it earlier this year for a different holiday. No, it was literally like the weekend of Maybond last year. Oh my God, I cannot believe how fast time is going by right now. No, for real.
00:29:25
Speaker
for real. It's coming right back around. Crazy. yeah I know. I was so jealous of that whole thing that you had going with him. and because Was that the one where you were like planning the the ritual? The whole menu and everything? Yeah, we were planning a menu together and I built um a ritual to for us to all do together. And it was just like such a... There was like It's nothing will top that. Like it was so wonderful. I'm so jealous. I wanted to be there so bad.
00:29:56
Speaker
o Yeah. Oh, I wish you could have been to in the future. We'll do it in the future. Yeah. I want you to meet him anyway. Well, and it isn't even him necessarily. It's just, I know, but like, I want you to meet him. I want you to like eat his cooking because like, that's a beautiful, special experience in and of itself. And like, I just like, I want to celebrate. When have we, I don't think you and I have ever celebrated a Sabbath together. I honestly can't.
00:30:23
Speaker
Remember? So probably not. Except, no, well, I was going to say, except for your birthday, but that's not a seven. Yes, it is. Hello. Who do you think I am? Yeah, I'm literally thinking of, like, the times we have visit each other, and, like, they have never once occurred on or near a sabbat. I know. Except for Yule the first time.
00:30:53
Speaker
Oh, right. But but I wasn't a witch then. But that was before everything, yeah. Yeah, I wasn't even a witch then at all. Yeah, so like even Cree, your like awakening doesn't count. Because even I wasn't really celebrating much back early that early enough, at least not like celebrating with others. And you flew in on like the 27th? Yeah, 27th or 28th of December.
00:31:17
Speaker
of December. So it was technically past Yule. Yeah, it was like five days past Yule by that point. But again, I wasn't even so like it that was that was before I really even like had much of an identity as a witch. um And so like, I don't think I even realize was really acknowledging Yule internally for myself that year. But like the um yeah, like, that's it because it's been like on my birthday, a couple of times that we've seen each other.
00:31:45
Speaker
on your birthday a couple of times. I guess the, actually no, the closest that we came was 2019 when I was out there for like 10 days in October. And I came like within two or three days of Halloween that I was still there, but we didn't celebrate it. We didn't celebrate salmon. Yeah. Salmon. you men I want to see salmon. Oh no.
00:32:13
Speaker
We should celebrate salmon too. I love it. But like, no. ah I know I'm trying to remember. So like the professionals we are, ah we just got cut off there for a moment. I hope you didn't forget what you were about to say.
00:32:30
Speaker
um i I don't know. I would think I was just talking about the time you visited in 2019. You flew out like three days after my birthday or something. And then we went to the Witch's Bazaar and the Witch's Ball. yeah And um we went to the Witch's Luncheon or Tea at the Holly Hotel. Yeah, that was the haunted hotel that I couldn't see any or feel any ghost presences. Right.
00:32:59
Speaker
um But I don't think you stayed 10 days because I think I think i mean I think I'm counting like my travel days. Oh, I don't know. in that The driving? Was it driving? No, I didn't drive. I flew. You didn't drive. Okay. But it was, I stayed, I do think it was 10 days because I think it was 18th to the 28th. I think I flew home on the 28th-ish. Wow. That would be a very long one. Or that's that would be 11 days, so it could have been the 27th too.
00:33:25
Speaker
I don't remember exactly. I just remember that like I did have to like take a whole week off work. And that usually a week of work plus two weekends on either side is almost 10 days. So yeah.

Personal Expression and Identity

00:33:39
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, yep. And yeah, no, I was thinking too, I don't even think that we've spent like a full moon together or a new moon together. Not that we were aware of at least. Right. Right.
00:33:54
Speaker
But like, yeah. Cause I would love to do like a full moon ritual with you sometime. Oh my god. Let's, I mean, I always say let's plan on it. let's Let's try to, but like, it's hard to with like difficult schedules and travel being difficult inherently. And but yeah so and expensive. But yeah, in 2019, we definitely got into the Halloween spirit, but really didn't do anything with like sowing. Right. Or salmon.
00:34:29
Speaker
ah Oh god. This is going to become a thing and I don't want it to be a thing. You don't want it to be a thing? I don't want it to be a thing. All right. You can have it as your thing. Sorry, do you have something against salmon that I don't know about? Oh, not particularly.
00:34:51
Speaker
I love salmon. It's like what probably one of my favorite. Yeah. I don't mind salmon at all. I like like the crab stuffed salmon type dishes. like Yeah. I like just like a salmon filet baked in like butter and lemon ah and dill. Oh my gosh. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Sounds good. And i like the salmon and poke bowls that I've made, that's where I learned to like salmon skin.
00:35:18
Speaker
Really? Oh yeah, I don't cut the skin off on those. um it it it It gets nice and like crispy and you don't even like notice it too much ah when you're eating because you're eating you know you're eating a poke bowl it's like got a whole bunch of stuff it's got rice and it's got avocado and jalapenos and whatever else you want to put in it but like it's oh it's delicious. Before that I didn't think that you could eat salmon skin.
00:35:41
Speaker
I didn't know one way or the other. Yeah. i thought That's when I learned that you could, and then I learned that I liked it. So I don't think I could eat it in every context. I think that like it has to be cooked the right way and like you know marinated or seasoned the right way. But like i do I do like it, at least in that recipe. So yeah, anyway. Can you see this? Yes, I can. Oh my goodness. I've been wearing it for the last, well, two days, I guess, just yesterday and today. It's beautiful.
00:36:12
Speaker
But I had, um, I was wearing three. For context, it is a beautiful silver pentagram ring. Yeah. I love it. Um, and I had on three beaded bracelets, like different two that I bought with you when I was there in January.
00:36:31
Speaker
And the one Carnelian or whatever, I think it is. It's a redstone. There's two different redstones I get confused sort of, but I think this one was Carnelian. Anyhow, I don't know. And I forgot to put them on today because I don't know for some reason, I'm just feeling like I need to get more witchy again. And so- It's because we're doing this podcast. It must be. I think that is where we're really leaning into the vibe.
00:36:59
Speaker
And the and the and the hair doing the pink and the hair on Friday, it's just kind of like, yeah, I need to get more on my on my edgier side again. Like I haven't been edgy enough lately and I need to do it again. I mean, I understand that impulse. I absolutely do. That's why I get so many piercings and tattoos.
00:37:18
Speaker
yeah you know
00:37:22
Speaker
And it's like, Hey, I feel like I've acclimated too much to my level of edge and I must get more punk rock, more metal, literal metal in my body.
00:37:36
Speaker
Hell yeah. And it's, it's a, I think it's a, um, uh, neurodivergent thing too. It's like, uh, Oh, getting tattoos gives you dopamine. So you just like, Oh, I want to do it. So.
00:37:50
Speaker
so you know I had a couple of people in the last couple of weeks notice my tattoo, the one that we got together. You're pumpkin? Mm-hmm. And they just like loved it. like it's so It's so funny. like I never hear anything about it. And then all of a sudden, there was like two different men who saw it and they were like, oh my God, that tattoo is beautiful.
00:38:13
Speaker
who i love And actually one of them was the chiropractor that I've seen, a new one that I've seen twice now. And the second time around I had on a shorter like sleeves, shorter sleeves like slightly shorter short sleeves. And he saw it peeking out and he goes, oh my God, you have a pumpkin tattoo? And I knew he couldn't see the whole thing. I was like laying face down on the bed thing. And I go, yeah, lift up my sleeve if you want to see the whole thing. So he went ahead. and He did it, and he was like, wow, that's so beautiful. Yeah, I had to. I was um giving ah my sister a tattoo tour when she was here a few weekends ago, and that was one that I had to. Like, this is the thing. i but That tattoo that we' now that we have matching is the one that I forget about the most because I can't see it naturally. Like, even in a mirror, because I've never been in front of a full-length mirror where I can see my ankle.
00:39:13
Speaker
And even then my ankles usually covered in like leggings. And so I had to like, I was like laying, like sitting on the couch or laying on the couch and so I had to like turn over and stick my leg out on her lap and was like, here, pull my leggings up so you can see.
00:39:28
Speaker
that one. I was like, you do it. I can't, I can't reach. Think about think about how I feel with my two most dominant tattoos yeah on the backs of my upper arms where I cannot ever see them. well that Unless I pick other places. I go like this. I can see right we're upside down. You know, it was it was definitely jarring the first time I started to get tattoos on my arms like in like ah very obvious places where I would like see them just in the mirror and be like, oh, yes I forgot that was there. But it's fun. It's like, really cool. I definitely think the, um, my cat skull is the one that people comment on the most. I don't know. I do get a lot of, I get a lot of comments. I've had a surprising number of little old ladies
00:40:19
Speaker
appreciating the scorpion and the longhorn skull. Cool. And I'm like, are you a secret badass? Do you say that to them? No, I just think it. Oh my god, they would probably love it. They would probably fucking love that. You gotta do that. Oh my gosh. Oh, anyway, we, this has been an extremely distracted chatty episode.

Podcast Reflections and Future Aspirations

00:40:51
Speaker
And I think that that we're going to just have to accept that reality, you know, as we do this, that we're not going to be able to stay on topic every single time.
00:41:03
Speaker
But I think that we sort of explored it. I want to, like, not that I want to necessarily make a series out of it with the Sabbats, but I do like to talk about them as they come around. And who knows, maybe this time next year when Lunasa comes back around, we'll, like, revisit it in a more focused way.
00:41:22
Speaker
Because this was a little like, you know, we we ended up having less time than we planned to be able to i get this done. And so, you know, this is a little bit of a last minute switcheroo that we died that we did to talk about the the Sabbath. But I enjoy it. I hope that it's a lovely day for everyone who's listening to this in the future, because this won't be released immediately. But ah We're, again, excited to be here and doing this. Excited to be distracted on on film or on recording. like but And wherever you are, happy Lunasalamas and enjoy, celebrate, eat, do all the things. Happy August. Happy August. Oh, yeah. Yeah, because as so i I would like to believe it will still be August by the time we release these episodes. So happy August to you.
00:42:19
Speaker
Yeah, happy birthday to Molly. Happy be birthday to me. It will not be for another couple of weeks, at least, how many weeks? Three weeks? Four weeks? Yeah. But if we release them by the time of your birthday, that will be a wonderful birthday for you. I want to do it sooner than that, but we'll see. We'll see if we can get it done. I'm excited. This will be a surprise even to us.
00:42:39
Speaker
um
00:42:43
Speaker
But yeah, um happy August. Please enjoy this time of year. It's really special. You know, if you are of the witchy persuasion, happy golden hour to you. um Yeah, happy golden hour of the year. Happy, you know, harvest.
