00:00:47
Speaker
All right, JP, back for another game preview. Uh, the dogs first true road game of the season. Uh, I guess the Kentucky Wildcats and some familiar faces over there that we'll get to. We are back for another one for the cats that are wild. Hopefully they're not getting eaten. I don't know. That's apparently a thing up in those parts. Wow.

College and Family Experiences

00:01:10
Speaker
Okay.
00:01:14
Speaker
editors note editors note that's not actually going on. I hope everyone had enjoyed their Tuesday night. As you and I obviously did. Yeah, so yeah, now now now Wednesday, coming in hot. Sorry, I was I ran a little late had a had had to zoom call or not a zoom call a face time from the college student and then had to get into episode of the bear with the ah remaining teenager, uh, per request. So, um, but made it coming to have a minute. I like it. It's okay. It's, it's, it's funny how many days was there an over-under on how long it would take for, for an I miss mom and dad. Yeah.
00:01:59
Speaker
Good question. we did We didn't get any FaceTime calls until ah Sunday. So Sunday was the first FaceTime. We had just been like texting and stuff, but ah we we got the first one on Sunday, but today was a little longer, but it was good. It was good. We got got good updates on all the classes and everything. So she does she loves her classes. Pretty cool. Excellent. Well, that's good. Yeah. Unlike me, I didn't like my classes when I was, I didn't like going to school much when I was a freshman.
00:02:29
Speaker
ah So yeah, good for you. ah Yeah, I definitely remember like, like but what classes I dropped really on like taking a light load. yeah I was one of those who came to college with credits and still took four and a half years of graduating. You Metro, you went to G, you probably went to Gwinnett College or something like that.
00:02:53
Speaker
I actually didn't do any of that. Mine was just from like the few AP classes that I took. Oh, the AP classes? Yeah. Yeah. I had friends that did some of those like dual enrollment things. And that's what Ella did. um That's where ours came from. I didn't do any of that hindsight. ah Yeah. I was like, why would I do that? Because I'm like and was a dumb kid. My daughter is not doing those things either. And I'm like, yeah you're killing me here. She didn't want to do it. She wanted the high school experience. and Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Gotcha. I definitely wish I could go back in time and like do something, but there was just, I mean, been in from I graduated from Starsville and Peachtree City. So the closest college experience at that time was well, you know, 45 minutes to an hour away. So it wasn't really conducive for a regular commute. Gotcha.
00:03:41
Speaker
Gotcha. Anyway, good on you. That's right. That's right. Go. Scan. I dropped English after my first paper when I failed it.
00:03:53
Speaker
I actually mean JP's fun facts. sony I may not have dropped anything that first semester. i will I will tell you this. The one thing I definitely remember is my first, the night before my first class at Georgia was spent in line waiting. We we had to camp out for football tickets because that was the last year that they did that. And I remember by the time you got there, there was like a lottery and like, you didn't have to like wait. I don't think.
00:04:16
Speaker
from what I remember. But like we had to camp out the night. It was the first day of class. like I barely made it to my first class because we had like we were like running shifts for our line for tickets. So anyway. um Yeah, I don't remember that. I think it was the lottery.
00:04:29
Speaker
ah I know what you brought out,

Bourbon and Game Traditions

00:04:32
Speaker
I'll get into mine. I actually, I did bring a ah a themed ah bourbon for for this matchup. So I've got the yeah the Wild Turkey Kentucky spirit got the tonight. i like you So yeah, this is a good one. I enjoy this one. What's the proof on that one?
00:04:50
Speaker
It is a 101. Okay. Yeah. So, you know, not, not too, not too hot, not too, not too hot. Yeah. I like it. I've got, I've got old Forrester 19.20. So good.
00:05:04
Speaker
that I had that um honor and honor of you like kind of being sick. So fun fact. That's what I had last night to attempt to knock this cold out. Nice. So no, that's like your that was like your your thing that you do. Like man's but get some of grandpa's old cough syrup in the in in the olden times. ah Some people refer to these as elixirs. So Also, the elixirs also included things like cocaine and chloroform and heroin. like You got to go, you got to go and all those things. um But yeah, man, I, I stand by that. When I feel the cold coming on, I'll, I'll have a glass of either for me some 1920 old forester or some old granddad 114, something like that. and Try to try to knock the cold out.
00:05:55
Speaker
Yeah. The one 15 and we'll knock your socks off. Yeah. So cheers. Cheers. Hey, would what would be a Kentucky episode without some, uh, some burn? That's right. That's right. but Around those parts. I was trying to figure out this, I guess, uh, James Pepper is the closest distillery, like major distillery to Kentucky. I was looking at that. I guess that's again, I don't know what I ended up doing. Anyway. Yeah.
00:06:21
Speaker
Yeah, I was trying to figure out like what is the distillery that's closest to them, I wonder. and some lead and you Have you ever had James Pepper? I have not. No. I haven't. I feel like I've had it at one of the tailgates. I sometimes have it at the at the Motown bowtown tailgate. that That's so good. I'm like so excited to say that now.
00:06:43
Speaker
We're heading to Motown. What's even better is if you say it in front of students, they'll be like, whoa, old man. Thank you.
00:06:54
Speaker
ah Yeah, i man, we're off the rails. um I'm still getting used to like that our generation like like our generation that we're like the old one now. like I remember when like like millennials were young, and now like the kids make fun of the even millennials. So I don't know. Yeah, dude. We're probably the age that ah um What was his name to the chapter advisor when we were there, Bardwell? We're probably his age yeah yeah when we were in school. He got me my job at Dial America for the summer. Shout out, Dial America. ah Dial America mentioned we're totally off the rails.
00:07:30
Speaker
It was O'Malley's for people who were a few years older than us. It was like a gym slash bar. It was called O'Malley's when we were in high school. I remember O'Malley's. Yeah. So anyways, why don't we try to get some web back on the rails? I know we're edging to get to JP's fun facts. Let me run through the match up quickly. Yeah, let's run through it.

Game Logistics and Coach Tenure

00:07:53
Speaker
Dogs and the cats, uh, Saturday night, seven 30, uh, so night game, uh, under the lights at Kroger field in Lexington, Kentucky. Uh, the dogs come in at two and oh, uh, Kentucky coming in at one and one, oh, and one in the sec with the, uh, I'll say shocking, uh, lopsided loss to South Carolina last week. Um, dogs, number one in all the polls, uh, Kentucky, not ranked. Um, it is on ABC. So the SEC on ABC, um, Sean McDonough, Greg McElroy and Molly McGrath. Um, official hashtag that we will forget to use hashtag UGA versus UK. Uh, the dogs lead this series all time, 63 12 and two. And the last meeting, the dogs won 51 to 13 between the hedges.
00:08:40
Speaker
last year. um Something that we will discuss. I took this a few days ago. I haven't double checked, but looks to be like a stormy, rainy day. um So not as cold as it's been when we've been playing there kind of later in the season of late. So earlier season, not quite as cold. Looks like it'll be like 63 in the evening.
00:09:04
Speaker
um But if you're going, um and um I want to pack the ah rain gear or something. So looks like it's going to be a a soggy day. It does. All right. It's going to be pretty warm. I yield my my time to you for the fun facts, JP. Oh, facts. Excellent. Well, let's start off with, the since you were given a rundown, um typically in the game notes, they speak about the head coaches. Can you give me who the longest 10-year SAC, active SAC head coaches,
00:09:34
Speaker
Hmm. It is one Mark Stoops, right? It is one Mark Stoops. Yeah. He is, he is the elder statesman of the SEC. When I found that, when I read that fact, I was like, Oh, that actually was found in the Kentucky game notes, by the way, which UGA posts both our game notes. And I guess that they are provided game notes from the opposing school. And I noticed that, that fun fact, the Kentucky game note.
00:10:00
Speaker
Thanks. Very proud of it. um They also listed quite a bit of Georgia players that are on the roster. I didn't do all the counting, but obviously we have some former players, and the Fighting Brock, Vanna, Griff are coming to town. Although I guess that we can't really say that because we're not really sure if he's going to be the quarterback, right? So yeah.
00:10:18
Speaker
um Anyhow, we have some familiar faces. So we've obviously done a Kentucky episode in the past. If you really want to dive into like some of the and nitty gritty, like the fact that there used to be ah blue, white, and yellow, um you can you can listen to some of our older episodes and try to come at it ah but come out at a different tact on this go round.
00:10:44
Speaker
So, all right. So let's run through, let's run through some tradition. So obviously they're known as the Wildcats. um The nickname basically came from 1909.
00:10:55
Speaker
where they were basically, ah they they won six to two, real barn burner. um And I guess after the game, the there was a ah head military at the old state university there in Kentucky, basically said that um and basically said to the students at a chapel service that they had fought like wildcats. And basically it became more and more popular amongst the Kentucky

Historical Context: Kentucky and UGA Traditions

00:11:25
Speaker
folks and it kind of stuck. What's interesting is that it it took them 70 years to actually get a mascot. um So the Wildcat mascot came up in 1976 and in 1977. Yeah, basically just this dancing
00:11:43
Speaker
This dancing wildcat that entertained bands at Commonwealth Stadium and Rupp Arena. Interesting. Let's see here. We talked about the talked about the the colors. um The University of Kentucky has a seal.
00:12:01
Speaker
that is modeled after, so you know how UGA has a similar seal to the state of Georgia. um Kentucky has a similar seal to the state of Kentucky. And I believe, Jim, you have- Yeah, I'll pull it up. I sent to you. Yeah, so if you're on the YouTubes, you can check out the seal of the University of Kentucky. All right, so let's talk through this. So the state seal depicts two men that are embracing on the front. One is dressed ah in front of your garb.
00:12:30
Speaker
And then the other is more like a formal state, they call them a statesman. um It's also emblazoned with the the state motto, which is United we stand divided we fall, which is a play on a a song from the American Revolution called the Liberty Zone. It's wildly like suspected that the people that are in the picture are actually Daniel Boone and Henry Clay.
00:12:54
Speaker
um But there it is designed to represent all of the frontiersmen and all of the statesmen, you know, coming together and joining and joining forces. Again, united we stand, divided we fall. So if you ever see their states ah state seal on their flag, or if you see the Kentucky seal, you that's a quick rundown on that.
00:13:20
Speaker
uh let's see here uh they also have a I guess I guess it's like a thing that all schools do they have some sort of walk like we have the dog walk kind of thing they have a catwalk um that they do which I thought is kind of funny because given the connotations of what a catwalk is it's like a like a fashion show right um I thought that that was kind of strange um ah Sorry, I don't have the music to play with that. Oh, I know. Just just imagine in your head that I'm too sexy. Oh, the catwalk. Oh, the catwalk.
00:13:58
Speaker
Um, let's see here. People don't have to imagine because you just did it. Sorry. continue Right. Uh, horrible, horrible. and and here All right. So those are, those are the quick rundowns. Everybody's familiar with some of the famous alumni, basically all in the NBA. Um, I mean, there's so many famous basketball players, the ones at the university of Kentucky, obviously. Um, so many famous, you know, football alumni as well. Um, but, uh,
00:14:28
Speaker
I guess Ashley Judd has got to be the most famous, yeah one of the most visually famous because she's like the Matthew McConaughey of the university there. um yeah But yeah, ah the origin of Kentucky, origin of the University of Kentucky. Let's talk about the history. um Kentucky used to be, ah I guess the the what became the University of Kentucky was a ah school called Transylvania University. so And it started out as an all and all male school.
00:15:01
Speaker
and just kind of through different acquisitions and obviously the land grant that we've talked about that um on the podcast that basically founded a lot of the higher learning establishments in the country, um eventually just became the University of Kentucky. um But yeah, Transylvania University, that's who we're playing this weekend folks.
00:15:22
Speaker
yeah drop that knowledge while you guys are on your, on your bourbon tours. Let's see. What else? What else did I have here? um So we talked about the all male school. Oh.
00:15:36
Speaker
um It is a ah very, it is a very I guess, I didn't realize this, but um they they have a goal to be a top 20 research university in the country by 2020. I don't know if they actually like met that, but like that's what I was reading. There there are one ah research school, which means that they are are highly involved in research and medical, like the medical school is is apparently very,
00:16:07
Speaker
very well known and the medical care at the University of Kentucky for students is also widely regarded as as being very, very, very good. So um they they're they're a big They're a big research university and they there's a concerted effort at the state level to make them so. Again, and we talked about this in the past, there's a difference between being committed to winning and financially committed to winning. And they became financially committed to being a researcher. Got it. That is the quick and dirty. Nice. Nice. i did I had added one thing. We had a buy a Bubby Dean, fun fact.
00:16:47
Speaker
He submitted. We always we always say, here's a question or a topic. I figured I'd pull this one up here. ah He had an interesting fact. He said this is the first time the dogs have played Kentucky in September since 1942. So that was interesting. Oh man, that is right up a Jim Wood. That is right up Jim Wood's alley.
00:17:07
Speaker
Because you were talking about that. You were talking like, you're like, why are we playing so early? Yeah, the time of the year stuff is. Yeah. Go back to this should be the game of the last team we played before Florida. Get off my lawn. Yeah. Oh, it's me. Bring back the 2002 SEC schedule, please. Anyway, really. All right. All right. ah You want to you want to you want to hit hasty is hard read history or did you want me to this week? I'll hit it. All right.
00:17:36
Speaker
I'll hit it. um What did I do with it? Oh, there. All right. So we've got Hasty's Harger History. Insert music here, Jim. Yeah, music music's coming. in yeah um Working on it. There are some campus traditions that are specific to football. The lone trumpeter ringing the chapel bell, the dog walk, which we talked about.
00:17:59
Speaker
Some campus traditions are specific to UGA students squeezing into an orbit bus at the Tate Center, eating a late night dinner at Snelling. So delicious. Chicken Philly. and Chef's kids. Being careful to not walk under the arch until graduation definitely did that. um All of these traditions bind together generations of people who associate themselves with the University of Georgia. Not all traditions have stood the test of time though, Jim.
00:18:30
Speaker
In the middle of the 20th century, one peculiar tradition that took place during football season, sometimes at the beginning of the season and sometimes around homecoming was the freshmen shirt tail parade. Have you heard of this? and I had never heard of this until this email was sent from Jason.
00:18:49
Speaker
That's why Jason is so amazing. Yes. Uh, all right. During, I wonder if, has your dad, has your dad heard of this? but um He's going, he's going to call me or text me and tell me after he listened to this, I'll say that much during this parade, freshmen men were ordered by upperclassmen to report to some part of campus, usually the stadium or the arch, remove their pants, don their rat caps, which is like the little plebe looking hats. Uh, they're not familiar.
00:19:19
Speaker
um Probably if you remember Animal House, the little hats that they wear in Animal House. Yeah, yeah. ah sort Don the Ratcats and parade through downtown Athens and campus. Sometimes they would even parade all the way to normal town and back again, which is quite a hike. um There might there might have been a pep rally in the stadium before the parade. Sometimes the band would parade alongside the freshmen.
00:19:47
Speaker
And usually, campus leaders would address the freshmen. Despite the changes to the parade over time, one thing remains central, pantsless freshmen parading through campus, all in good spirits, of course. This peculiar tradition seems to have originated in the 1920s, peaked in the 1950s, and was last run as a yearly tradition in 1964, as recently as 2005, which is interesting because that was a year after I read it. I would say right after we were gone. Though an attempt was made to revive the shirt tail parade, the shirt tail parade might seem quaint and strange now, but it was one of the myriad of student traditions that have sprung up, had their run and then faded into semi obscurity.
00:20:34
Speaker
If you're looking at YouTubes, Jim's got some you know assets, that pictures from um history, from this time period. That that picture of the guy I bent over, like did they like decorate their underoos? Is that what's going on? That's what it looked like. that's was That was the one I just i just had up. like I pulled the red and black one back up because I i think that was showing like when it when they were trying to revive it. Jim, you probably have this you have you probably have this one to go back through.
00:21:02
Speaker
I do have some. I don't think I have that one. But I will say there is a website where you can view every issue of the red and black ever. They're all scanned. It comes in handy sometimes. Pretty awesome.
00:21:15
Speaker
Awesome. Well, yeah, thank thank you, Jason, as always for saying those as are always those are always fun. Yeah, I literally learned something every time. ah These are not things that that I know. And you would learn something every time if you go and visit him and yeah learn about the famous UGA Olympians that's going on right now, right?
00:21:34
Speaker
That's correct. Yeah, yeah that's the that is the the exhibit that's going on over at the Hargroet Library this fall. ah So um we we thoroughly enjoyed going over to that Instantly exhibit last year. I'm sure the Olympic exhibit is fantastic. Yeah, we'll have to swing over there on Friday. Yeah, yeah, i we gotta figure out a time to make or get an overnight get an overnight game to experience.
00:21:56
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, for sure. Cool.

Player Updates and Game Expectations

00:22:00
Speaker
Let's see. I had a couple of things. I just grabbed a couple of injury updates from News and Notes. I know um when we did the review, I think the only person we mentioned was Nate Frazier um with the whole shoulder, arm, something thing.
00:22:13
Speaker
um Kirby just said, Nate's great. um That was the answer he gave about Nate. So sounds like he's fine. um And then he literally said Oscar is fine around Oscar Delp. So that was the one that we forgot to mention. So Oscar did come out of the game. um I think I feel like he went back in for like a play, maybe, um one of those kind of deals. But they ended up taking him back out and and holding him out for the rest of the game. So Kirby says he's fine. um We'll see what that means, not 100% sure.
00:22:44
Speaker
I did do a little research, um, didn't see anything that as you alluded to earlier, the whole life with like Brock Van de Graaff, like, you know, he did, he did not finish the South Carolina game. Um, like I said to you, this may have been after we had stopped you the night. Um, I had that game on, but I didn't have a sound on and I had multiple games on and I was listening to another game. So when he got, when he left the game, I didn't hear what the announcers said or anything, but I did see like, I kind of.
00:23:11
Speaker
Just Twitter searches and Google searches did see like some Kentucky people talking about the fact that he was benched during the game. So it seems like it was a benching, but don't know if that was a, for the rest of the game, like what the plan is. I, you know, like you mentioned the whole like Kentucky notes and everything, and it seemed to at least in there, they're talking about Brock nonstop. I don't know what that means though. I didn't see anything like from, you know, from stoops, uh, saying anything, which I wouldn't really think he would. but So I guess we'll, we'll, I don't know, we can, we can monitor, uh, the socialist throughout the week. Um, and or it may just be, we find out.
00:23:48
Speaker
who trots out there the first time they had the ball. We'll see. Yeah. I imagine that'll be a game time situation. Yeah. Yeah, probably. All right. Let's see. Let's just, let's get to it. So let's start off with the Georgia offense, like what we're looking for when the dogs had the ball.
00:24:10
Speaker
um So just some kind of you know notable folks on the Kentucky defense. So the leading tackler is Zion Childress. He's a senior defensive back. He's got one sack too. um And then their leader in interceptions is Ty Bryant, a sophomore defensive back um with one pick. And Maxwell Hairston is a junior DB.
00:24:36
Speaker
um The quote sack leader also with one sack. So looks like they're getting their sacks out of the secondary this far this season um Couple of people just to call out Dion Walker um huge defensive lineman ah You know, he really showed out last year for Kentucky. um I Remember kind of hoping he would go into the portal and come to Georgia ah that didn't have it. I the one that did go into the portal and go to Kentucky was Jumaon Dumas-Johnson. So obviously a familiar face on the Kentucky defense there.
00:25:08
Speaker
Um, yeah, I mean, I will say, uh, in general, like, I think what we've been hearing from folks, um, just talking about this as like, as far as our offense, their defense, like this, I think like their past defense, um, has been suspect and and having some troubles. Um, from, I think Josh was looking at that from even from like PFF grades and such. So.
00:25:33
Speaker
Yeah, I can't remember which the, which graph or image it was that I saw, but there, he had them like stacked where it was all of the Kentucky metrics versus the Georgia metrics. And it was defense and offense. And I just remember seeing these giant red lines and short blue lines ah across the board. And it was like, Oh, this is a, this is going to be an easy, re easy preview. Cause, uh, Kentucky, not so great Georgia, pretty great.
00:26:03
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. I, um, and you know, I mean, I think thus far this season, like we've been throwing the dang ball, uh, thus far. Um, and I really, I think I expect that to continue. I think the question here is the weather, like what's the Georgia offense going to look like in, in like the weather situation?
00:26:25
Speaker
Uh, I always make the joke. This is where Aaron Murray wants to talk about like hand size of the quarterback and how they grip a wet ball and things like that. Um, I know that was an issue with Stetson. Um, I don't remember that being so much an issue with, with Carson, um, last year. So something to watch for, um, for sure. But like you said.
00:26:44
Speaker
dog's offense really good. I mean, in Kentucky's been, they've been struggling and that was the thing in that South Carolina game. I mean, South Carolina put up some points on Kentucky, which was surprising to me. Um, so expect our offensive the same. I mean, you figured, you figured that, uh, South Carolina dropped them that kind of, that kind of game on any SEC opponent is probably an indication that this is on paper should be a pretty convincing win for for UGA. maybe maybe Maybe Kirby will let Carson Beck get away with breaking the SEC record this time around.
00:27:21
Speaker
but nice Yeah, 31 to 6. They could have 31 points yeah to South Carolina. those That was pretty surprising. um Yeah, I mean, you know ah the our leading rusher right now is Nate Frazier um still. So he's he's the he's the leading rusher. Although Etienne, man, 78 yards, only 5 carries. I know it was Tennessee Tech, but still. um So we'll see. We'll see kind of what what we do there.
00:27:49
Speaker
you know, his rager is still the third back into the game, I think probably behind free sorry, behind Etienne and Robinson. So yeah, I don't know. I think the only other thing is just to see like Delp again, but with him being, you know,
00:28:08
Speaker
getting banged up last game like will we see anything there or is he going to be uh more more the blocking tight end and have have lost and lucky so more of the pass catcher which i wasn't really prepared for this season but he's the second leading receiver so you got arian smith as a leading receiver and lost and lucky second uh just a yardage for the george offense so and right pretty interesting it is interesting um yeah man i i don't know i I don't want to want jump too far ahead ah on the on the whole scoring thing, but this does not look like it's going to play very well for anyone involved on the Kentucky side. Yeah, no, I agree. I agree. And this is one of those where it's like not to be dismissive, but just like protect the ball kind of thing. You know, like it this is one of, this is one of those ones where like you just need to do your thing and protect the ball. Yeah. Turnovers are the great equalizer. So, you know, protect the ball, play smart with the ball, which that is the only thing about like the whole like points, like total kind of thing. Like.
00:29:05
Speaker
Night game, raining all day. i this I could see this being like a Kirby smart ones to get the heck out, like just win and get the heck out of there. Kind of a Georgia Kentucky game. And we've because we've seen that all too many times over the last few years. So we'll see. Also, I'm not excited to see German Dumas Johnson um wearing Kentucky blue. I mean, I've seen it already, but all right it's just painful to see. I don't know. There's a bummer.
00:29:32
Speaker
ah i't like not ideal and ah um Anything else you're looking for when the dogs have the ball? ah Well, when the dogs have the ball from my side of things, I would really want to see the offensive line, again, just continue to play up to their capabilities and their talent level. um That's going to be the tail of the tape for me. Make sure, hopefully, Stacy and I will be talking you know as this game progresses. ideal.
00:30:03
Speaker
you know, everything looks so, so good so far. um Yeah. So, and aside from that, I'll be looking for, can the dogs impose their will on the offensive side of

Georgia's Offensive and Defensive Strategies

00:30:17
Speaker
the ball? It appears that they should be able to impose their will on the offense. So, yeah you know, are we are we rattling off yards per play that are, you know, right now we're, we're doing pretty well in that category.
00:30:31
Speaker
we're pacing We're on pace as to what is a what is determined to be an an elite team, which I think is like was it over four yards, net yards per play, um that werere we're averaging right now. And I think that that's like well inside of the you know the threshold of what an elite team looks like. So we'll look to stay on schedule there. Yeah. um Would love to see Arian Smith continue his, continue his rise. Yeah. Rise from the ashes. It'll be the the theme of ah of this entire offense, you know, Carson Beck, Arian Smith. You've got um ETN and rising from the ashes that is the dumpster fire of Florida. Yeah, that's that's what I'll be looking for.
00:31:22
Speaker
Okay. Cool. I like it. Yeah. ah Net, net yards per play. Uh, Georgia's at 4.59 right now. Uh, so yeah, pretty, pretty good. Cool. All right. Let's talk. Let's talk about, uh, what we're looking for. Um, when Kentucky has the ball.
00:31:40
Speaker
um So, will we see Brock Vandegraff, you know, start this game? I think that's the big question. um The backup is Gavin Wimsatt. He is three for seven on the year for 14 yards.
00:31:57
Speaker
in a pic. So I don't know. I'm kind of leaning towards, we still see Van de Graaff, but we'll see. um I mean, I hope i hope for him for his sake. um Everything that I've heard seems like to be a great kid, great family. um So for him, I do hope he's out there.
00:32:16
Speaker
um He on the year, he's 15 to 28 for 199 yards, three touchdowns and two picks. Uh, so that's been Brock thus far. Um, leading rusher is Demi Sumo. Arne Gabbai. I have no idea if I got that name pronounced correctly. He's a senior. god hower um He's had 25 carries for 129 yards in a touchdown. um You got a freshman running back, ah jason Jason Patterson. He is the second leading rusher. um And then receiving core, Dane Key, his leading receiver with 96 yards receiving, and Jamori Macklin, junior receiver, with 68 yards receiving on three catches. ah So those those are some kind of guys to watch for on the and the Kentucky offense. um For us, we got, you know,
00:33:05
Speaker
It is, uh, it is good to see, um, you know, we talk about, or I talked, I just talked about like hating to see JDJ go over to Kentucky. Um, but one of those young stud linebackers, uh, is really coming into his own and CJ Allen, and he is our leading tackler, uh, two games in the season. So CJ Allen, Malakai Starks, uh, Jalen Walker really, really leading this defense. Um,
00:33:29
Speaker
What I didn't see anything in the Kirby's notes of anything about ah was Michael ah mike l Williams. um you We know he sprained his ankle in the first game against Clemson. um So will we see him? I would kind of guess no. I i would tend to think that if we don't need him, maybe rest him until I let him and get a bye week as well. um Just my guess. That's not inside sources or anything. Yeah, I think that if if we were playing Alabama this weekend, he probably would play Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So man, I don't know. Like from what I've seen from Kentucky and, and you know, I, I watched a decent amount of both of their games. Their stats are a little out of whack because their first game, they didn't finish the game because of weather. I mean, that they counted in the standings, but they didn't play a full game and their first one because of lightning. Um, but then from what I did watch of that game, I mean, they, I felt like they struggled. Um,
00:34:24
Speaker
I remember I think like on van de Gras first, on their first drive, he threw a pick. Uh, JDJ got a pick to, to get the ball right back, but, um, they they've struggled to move the ball. I think they're in the, they've got a new offensive coordinator, um, this season. So I think they're kinda still trying to find their way so far offensively. What are you, what are you looking for in our, in our, in our defense, JP?
00:34:45
Speaker
Oh man, domination. um um I'm looking for them to show me. um This team is not particularly um tuned to to throw the ball right now. you know Yeah, they're really not.
00:35:00
Speaker
I think that this could be a good opportunity for us to just, um, I feel like they're going to grind the clock, which is why the spread kind of scares me a little bit. Um, so I don't know. I, I, I'm going to, I'm going to, if, if you were in a position where, um, you cannot throw the ball and you are not adept at throwing the ball against this team, that is a recipe for a long, long night for you. Yeah.
00:35:24
Speaker
i agreed Because we we pretty much every year, even if it's an off year, we were pretty much designed to shut down the run um as a as as as i philosophy, right?
00:35:40
Speaker
right um right You're not going to run sideways, you're not going to run through us. um that's <unk> We're trying to we're trying to stop the stop or shut down the run. If you throw in on top of that and your best quarterback is throwing at 53%, that's a recipe for some and third and longs and that's just not going to that's just not going to sit very well against us.
00:36:01
Speaker
Yeah. And from what I have seen, like but with, with Van de Graaff, it's a lot of like read option, like zone read option kind of stuff doing, I've seen him, he, he, he tugs the ball and runs a lot, um, from what I've seen. So definitely.
00:36:18
Speaker
Watch for that. But, you know, talking, I think that's where those young, fast linebackers come into play. So look for, whether it's CJ Allen, Raylan Wilson, we mentioned Jaylen Walker, ah tracking him down and then, I mean, shoot the safeties. I'll be be be watching for that and, you know, set the edge, can keep contained, don't let them break contain. And I think we'll be just fine.
00:36:42
Speaker
yeah Yeah, I would say that that's that's a fair assessment. breaking Being able to keep the quarterback from running at a high clip is definitely something that we tend to struggle with. But I don't think that they're going to have any problems here. But um yeah, I would say that we're, I don't think this is a game that we're going to see a ton of sacks. um I don't know if Coach got has those in his over unders.
00:37:08
Speaker
down But I think that this is going to be a game that is going to be, especially if it's raining, it's just going to be a grinder, man. It's going to be a grinder. Yeah, yeah that's that's that's kind of how I'm leaning. That's how I'm leaning.
00:37:21
Speaker
so um i I'd love to see the weather like hold off. and not be like that but i mean i saw wise dogs posted something earlier he said that the the forecast looked like it was turning but i have not seen it quite as rosy as what he was seeing but some wise words from wise dog some wise his words yes new segment um he he doesn't he doesn't like he wouldn't last that long to hear it
00:37:52
Speaker
Oh, got it. Oh Sorry. Shout out. Yeah. No, I think that, um, yeah, I think that this is just going to be an absolute grinder for them. Yeah. Um, all right. You want to move on to the special teams? Got a couple of things there. Um, let's see anything else. stephen Yeah. another of us I have, I actually have some things for special teams as well.
00:38:15
Speaker
Oh, nice. Yeah. Do you feel free to jump right into those? or No, you can. you You jump in and I'll add my color. Okay. Okay. So I'll be the, I'll be the the Lauren to your Larry or the Scott Howard. Nice. Even though it's clearly backwards, uh, opening to our website by us. Um, let's see. So, okay. I guess two things. One, they do have an Australian punter, so they've at least got that. They have, they have figured that out. Uh, Wilson Berry is a junior.
00:38:49
Speaker
uh i don't know how to pronounce where he's from mary bimong uh australia where he's from uh seven puns for 297 yards uh and a 42.43 yard average um so he has punted a lot considering uh like i said didn't even have a full first game And then their kicker is Alex Rayner, senior. he He is perfect in the season. Three or three field goals in 4-4 on extra points. um Something that jumped out to me and John, like if you looked at the stats that I pulled together, you'll see that our our kick returner, like kickoff return is blank.

Special Teams and Fan Reactions

00:39:25
Speaker
The Georgia Bulldogs have not returned a kickoff.
00:39:28
Speaker
yet. So every kickoff has either been a fair catch, or gone out of the back is basically been a touch back or fair catch. But we haven't, we have not returned a we have not run back a kick yet. Like at all, development touchbacks, ah as as we've received. That is a fun fact. Yeah, we haven't received many, because people aren't scoring against us. Right. But but yeah, so no kickoff returns yet for the George Bulldogs. And then again, obviously, we still have the Brett Thorson Brett Thorsen's streak has is still intact with no one returning his punts. When I talked to my dad today, he he pointed out to me that he said to you during the game um that the Brett Thorsen punt was like the highest punt he had ever seen in his life. He said it was ah kicked out of my eye. um Yeah, and then Anthony Evans, ah he's he's averaging 10.63 yards per punt return. So that was pretty cool.
00:40:27
Speaker
That's what I had for the special themes. Nice. Um, okay. So my special teams notes, um, the punter, Alex, ah sorry, the kicker, like gi Alex Rainer. Yeah. Is a local boy. He is from Harrison high school. And my daughter is friends with his, his, uh, his brothers. I think I mentioned this on the on the last, last time we played these guys, they're still fairly new, but he's actually a Lou grows or watch. He's on the Lou grows or watch watch list. Cause he hits.
00:40:59
Speaker
He's a pretty good kicker. okay okay um But yeah, local boy, Alex Rainer, pretty good. He's a transfer from Florida Southern as well. Okay, got it. Cool. Nice. i you You probably said that last year and I already forgot. I don't know why you um know why he would log log the Kentucky kicker notes in your in your archive. but I wouldn't put it past you. as yeah but Like I said, I feel like I'm running out of room, so only so much but so much space in there these days. right Cool. All right. um Why don't we hit the listener questions?
00:41:38
Speaker
Um, so as it was every game preview episode, the listener questions are brought to you by working web media. Um, so, you know, we sat down with working web media last off season. Uh, we wanted to redo our website, um, really weren't happy with when we had, um, or like our store was on a separate site. Everything was kind of disconnected. Uh, so they were kind of have to work with us, uh, get a brand new site for us set up very quickly. Um, able to, you know, review and proof all the the design ideas. as they had. Um, and it was a really, I would say very simple, smooth, easy process. Um, so if you are interested, first off, you know, head over to my got a podcast.com, just check it out and you can see some of their work, uh, right there. You can check out our store. We got all our merch there. Um, but if you've got a small business, uh, you know, maybe you need a website for your business, um, or just some help with your online presence, uh, for your small business, head on over to working web media dot.com slash dogs, and then they will know that we say you their way.
00:42:36
Speaker
All right, GP, let's start off um with Brett Building. First up, with buildings, buildings two-parter. All right, is Kentucky really as bad as they looked against South Carolina? Yes.
00:42:54
Speaker
Okay. Um, I will say the only thing that I'll, I'm going to give a little coach speak. My coach speak answer is, uh, you're never as bad as you think you are after a loss and you're never as good as you think you are after a win. Um, so man, I don't know. I don't know. i Like I said, though, I felt like they didn't look great in their first game either. Um, so yeah, they might, they just, they might be, they might be.
00:43:19
Speaker
I don't mean, I think again, new offensive coordinator doesn't seem to be gelling. The fan base is not, they're not happy. um Because then you there was there was talk of students maybe leaving. He was kind of hunting for other jobs last season. He was rumored to be taking the A and&M job and all that kind of stuff. So and we'll see. But JP with the emphatic. Yes. Yes. And then Brett said, they're they're like, I think that they are Aren't they, they are one of the worst, like, well, they're one of the lowest ranked, like they're they're one of the lowest ranked teams in terms of passing attempts. Yeah. they I mean, they're vinegar isn't throwing, like he just, he hands it off and he run them. He'll drop back and then he runs. So 125 out of 134 in terms of pass attempts right now, um I'm curious to see how that, how that tracks. Like I said, yeah, not a good recipe for success against us.
00:44:16
Speaker
And I say that he takes off, I mean, he has, Vandegriff has 14 rush attempts, um, in two games or call it two games in, or a game in three quarters. Um, like I said, with their first game kind of ended early. So, uh, let's see, Brett's the second part of the two-parter TM, TM, TM. Uh, what bourbon should I try to buy while I'm in Lexington this weekend? So Brett making the trip. Have you, have you been there? Have you been there? No.
00:44:45
Speaker
okay i' been I've never actually stepped foot in Kentucky yet all year. Really? Okay. It's a pretty drive. I will say that. um Although I hate to keep coming back to this. I'm usually doing that drive later when the leaves are changing and such. went you know back and So it was always a beautiful drive in college when the schedule was right. I'm trying to think. So when you know my dad and I went to a bunch of places, um and we went to Buffalo Trace on our way to Indy.
00:45:15
Speaker
um know kind of more Louisville ish. My geography is terrible. I'm trying to think of how far away that is. So I'm not really sure. But I will say like, when I remember from talking through the people that worked at Buffalo Trace, like they did say like,
00:45:29
Speaker
You know, if there's something that you want, when you're in Kentucky, you can get it. um yes You're going to have to pay for it. Like, you know, cause we were like, we're at Buffalo Trace. I thought I was going to get Blanton's kind of thing, you know? And like, that's not how it works. um And the guy was like, you know, like if you want Blanton's, I'll tell you where to go. And it's on the shelf. Like, I know where it is. He's like, you're going to have to pay whatever he said was not something I wasn't going to pay. So you can get pretty much whatever you want. Yes.
00:45:57
Speaker
um What I would say is I would look be looking for 107s. That's what I would be looking for if I were out there. Okay. Um, I know that it is not, uh, I know that it is, well, I guess it's Cincinnati. I want to say it's, right if, if you were closer to the border, like if you go across the border, like right at the border of Kentucky and Ohio, there is a ah liquor store, like that's like a big liquor store up there where one of seven sits on the shelf is what I, what I understand.
00:46:28
Speaker
like Ohio, Ohio is a, they just have all the 107, all the 107 and green label just kind of sitting on the shelf. Got it. Okay. The guy that runs the wiki consensus has, has told me that Ohio's got plenty of weller.
00:46:46
Speaker
Nice. So for me, like, and it were fairly realistic, you know, ah friend of the show, Jordan, um he just went to, he just went to the, did a bird and trail thing for his birthday. um And he was talking about how he came across, he came across several BTAC options. And like you said, it's up there. Like there's, there's, there's a ton of, there's tons of the the heritage collection or whatever.
00:47:12
Speaker
the B tech collection. Um, and he really wanted to get ah an Eagle rare, uh, whether the Eagle rare 17, I think is what it is, whatever the B tech Eagle rarest. Um, and it was like over $2,000. He was like, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. First of all, I can't even ah fathom paying that much for our bottle of bourbon, but Yeah, no. I mean, if you want to hang out with Stetson, obviously you should get some pappy. So, all right. Let's see. We got a couple other bourbon um related questions. I threw up a couple of years. So Rambo, Rambo wanted to know, is it still okay to drink brown water this week? I guess his point being we're playing Kentucky and like Kentucky bourbon.
00:47:58
Speaker
That is an FTMF way of saying, like, we're not going not going to support you. I guess. But like, I'm drinking. We both brought remember we brought Kentucky Bourbons for the show. Just remember, we have to say it if you live in the state of Georgia, your local distributors are the ones that you're supporting, not those folks. There we go. They are inadvertently, but you know yeah for all intents and purposes with this question,
00:48:26
Speaker
All of the woes and ills of Georgia liquor laws that are out there, which don't get me started on that, but you are supporting a local business. Yeah. True. And you know what? You did just say brown water. You can get some bourbon from Georgia if you're really wanting to avoid the Kentucky River. Perfect. That's a perfect answer. Obviously, it's not a sponsor, but you still need to get the hunger.
00:48:56
Speaker
the hunger bourbon and the hunger vodka yeah yeah um then see our ah buddy Dwight uh got a Motown reference coming here what what is the epic what is the epicenter for bourbon intake and why is it wherever Morris Hall tailgate sets up the bourbon table uh and he said if you said Kentucky to the answer you were wrong so uh Motown is where the bourbon flows like wine I guess Yes. people swalk like People flock like salmon in the Capistrano.
00:49:30
Speaker
ah Amazing. All right, let's see. Got a few about um easier in general, kind of like some Brock Van de Griff transferring type stuff. So Bubbie Dean um said players always want to perform.
00:49:47
Speaker
Want to perform against their former team? Does Jamon Dumas-Johnson and or Barak Vandegriff have a big game Saturday night? What's the UGB? All I gotta say is ask Tyson Campbell about that. All I gotta say is, yeah, just as much as they want to perform, I promise you, they are also going to have targets on their back.
00:50:12
Speaker
True. Okay. Okay. That door swings both both ways, brother.
00:50:19
Speaker
Nice. um Let's see. Oh, hey, Kelsey. So you know I don't know where for sure these are questions from Kelsey's notebook, JP, that we've now heard about. My guess is that they likely are. Could be. So she wanted to know over-under on how many times Brock is going to be sacked by the Georgia defense. ah So she did jump into the over-under on the sacks.
00:50:45
Speaker
yeah Yeah, yeah. Let's see. dis Does coach have that? Yeah, he well, he had over under sex for the Georgia defense. um I don't know. I guess, yeah, will this still be a show me game for you?
00:51:01
Speaker
Yes. Okay, okay. I'll answer it with what Coach Trillbill said that Coach Trillbill set the line at two and a half. So that was his over under. And then yeah, she just a couple of notes from her. So she said, she took it, she took it a leg, a leg further by saying rock, not backup. So Right. True. That is true. Um, and then she said, you know, with the performance against South Carolina, Vandergriff only passing for 30 yards with a 30% completion percentage put me in coach. So man, yeah, it was a, it was a struggle. It was a struggle.
00:51:37
Speaker
first First time we've got Kelsey's ah notebook notes on the show. Kelsey's notebook notes. They're definitely welcome. Let's see, EUSA canine. How many of y'all that called for Beck to be benchlacks last year want to trade quarterbacks? Who's going to take you this week?
00:51:52
Speaker
ah have I have seen that resurface. I know one of the one of the Smith brothers, and I'm i'm blanking if it was ah Michael or Daniel, um was talking about this, ah had had put that out there.
00:52:08
Speaker
I mean, we obviously never said such things. um I think early in the season, there probably were some, but I would say the answer is what what are we saying? Anyone who wanted, who was calling for Beck to be benched last year. Oh, oh yeah. Not last year, but definitely like you and I were talking about this. like Whenever, whenever he was like going in for, for Duann Mathis, you know, kind of thing, like we had to shuffle through, we had to shuffle through a couple of different options. Right. Right. I mean, that definitely was a time period when I was calling for him, for sure. For Vantagriff? Not for Vantagriff, but for Beck to be benched. But if you're talking about Vantagriff, no. Gotcha. Gotcha.
00:52:48
Speaker
Yeah, no, this is basically people who were like, put in Vandygriff last year. Yeah, no, no, no, no one's still saying they're not exist. Yeah, yeah. Well, there were some but they were, you know, not not not people, the actual majority, the actual minority, not the silent majority. Right. Right. It was, yeah, if you were calling for Vandygriff to come in last season, you need to get your head exam.
00:53:14
Speaker
What was the game? Was it Kentucky? Remember when he like came in for one play and like they said his name wrong on TV or something? They called him Clay or something? Wasn't that a thing? don't remember that.
00:53:27
Speaker
And then J.R. Reel said, over and under, how many times do we hear about Vandegrift being a transfer from Georgia in this game on the broadcast? Hopefully zero, hopefully one time and then zero after that. Yeah. ah yeah He'll be playing so poorly that they won't even come up, Jim. They won't even talk about it. Yeah. Well, it'll I mean, you know whatever. i I feel like slam. They're they're just going to talk about it nonstop. I feel like like they're going to refer to him as like the Georgia transfer project like every time the Georgia transfer. Like that's all they're going to say.
00:53:57
Speaker
It'll definitely be heard from Georgia. Yeah, they're they're totally gonna say like in the opening. So yeah. um Let's see next up 51 to seven GATA with the dogs playing at basketball school. I figured I would add a baseball question. What do you all's thoughts of Georgia deciding to go with an artificial turf field at Foley Field? Not a fan personally. I'm a natural grass on baseball field kind of guy on any field, honestly.
00:54:22
Speaker
All I can say is that if they're playing those games in the middle of the summer, it is absolutely brutal on that almost on that turf. Imagine it might be a little bit different for a stadium like that, but i mean it's it seems like that that's the direction that that we're going in these days, so I guess you better get used to it. yeah But obviously not ideal.
00:54:44
Speaker
Yeah, 51 to 7G88, let us know what what your feelings are. i know you I know you're a big baseball guy, so curious what your thoughts on that do. As a travel ball dad, I tend to enjoy the the turf because it means that they can't cancel practice.
00:55:00
Speaker
Hmm. Nice. So you're not like the, you know, I saw a thing. It was like a, I don't know, Instagram reel or something, where it was like, uh, youth, sports parents, uh, reactions when, when practice is canceled for bad weather. Oh, na um man. Oh, no practice. on Yeah, no, I mean, I guess, either way, like the work harder plane right now he's playing with that they practically married a high school. And that field is 100% turf. um And so there's there's always there's, there's never gonna be a situation where they do but if they did get canceled, they have the indoor facility as well. So there's that's nice. Gotcha.
00:55:42
Speaker
I like it. I like it because let me tell you, man, if you haven't, I mean, maybe you remember, maybe maybe you don't, but like. When you have those spring seasons and fall seasons where it's just like constantly raining and they're canceling practice and and paying all this money and they're not actually practicing and it's like gas. Yeah, no, that is true. and id rather they I'd rather they be working on the things that they're supposed to be working on. And I'm assuming that that's part of what's going on with the yeah ah george Georgia situation. Could be. I mean, I don't i haven't i read much into it, but I'm curious about like the infield. like it do Is it still like a dirt infield, but then with turf for the grass? No, it would all be turf. oh that's like the whole so Even the infield is turf. I've seen that where they just make it a different color or whatever. Yes. is is yeah they make it It looks like a field, but it's actually all turf.
00:56:35
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. I've seen it where the infield is all turf and the outfield is natural grass. Okay. I am not a huge fan of that mostly because there's a usually when I come up against that there's a huge drop off.
00:56:51
Speaker
Not huge, but there's like a, there's a drop off between the infield and the outfield. And it's, it's definitely a situation where someone could seriously injure themselves. Yeah, every single one that I've come across thus far with Carter, I always walk out there and I always check it out.
00:57:09
Speaker
um i'm also not a huge fan um of the turf situation for the pitcher's mound because the pitcher's mound becomes this artificial i don't know what college baseball would be like but all of the ones that i've come across like the pitcher's mound becomes this like hollow like shell thing that just kind of sits up there And it's definitely a different field than a dirt mound. Yeah, it's definitely completely different than a dirt mound. So anyway, whenever we whenever Carter's pitching, I always walk out there with him and I'll show him how the ball bounces and rolls on
00:57:44
Speaker
whatever particular turf so that he can see e how it how it reacts. Whereas the grass is usually pretty universal. Gotcha. Interesting. Because it is different there. There are different turfs out there. Like there's yeah, I think that George talked about the squishy turf that they have at the but the NFL Combine and how people typically run slower at the NFL Combine because the turf is so much squishier than other turf. Interesting. Anyway.
00:58:11
Speaker
yeah i say honest I don't like it because then you can't say off my lawn when you don't have real grass and you have to say get off my turf or something. i um like um I All right, got a couple of ah Kentucky is a basketball school type questions. Fletcher Proctor coming in. If we hang another 50 on them like we did last year, will we even want to hire Stoops as a defensive analyst? I mean, I'm sure that anytime you have a former head coach that's been around for 12 years in the SEC, it's probably going to be a fairly positive addition. But yeah, you know, to each his own.
00:58:44
Speaker
Kirby does like to collect former head coaches on the staff. so sa did so yeah yeah that that's It's now been now ah the new Kirby Smart Rehabilitation Program. Let's just say that all of these SEC schools have done really well.
00:59:00
Speaker
at recruiting the state of Georgia because there's so much talent. So if you're pulling an SEC head coach, a former SEC head coach, you most likely are pulling in somebody that has some connections to high schools that you most likely would like to have connections with, particularly in the state of Georgia. So if that is the case, then you know all all like all I can do is help you. like I don't necessarily see a negative of bringing in a a head coach that potentially has you know connections to a kid that you may want. More importantly, like in the in the age of the transfer portal, like they may have connections to universities that we may we may have want want players from. You know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah, agreed.
00:59:45
Speaker
There's a lot wrapped up into it. Yeah. There could also be other, other, other aspects of it, like how they run their NIL. Yeah, for sure. well Don't see the downside. Yeah. Um, and they said also Kentucky hoops hasn't won in Athens in 1,706 days. There's a, there's a fun fact for you. Um, are they really a basketball power? Uh, in our quotes, uh, and they said, happy birthday, John. So, Hey, thanks. Appreciate it.
01:00:12
Speaker
I mean, obviously not. Uh, here's a, here's a basketball minute, uh, for Fletcher. Um, I saw, uh, on Twitter, I actually sent this to Matt Moore last night. Uh, Jarvis Hayes Jr. Uh, announced on Twitter that he had received a scholarship offer from the university of Georgia. So that was pretty sweet. we old they get Oh, I know, right.
01:00:36
Speaker
callie Uh, that, that excited me. So I'm sure, I'm sure Fletcher is like, yeah, whatever, Jen, that's old news. Tell me there's another Hays brother coming too, or that it could potentially get an offer too. Like, does he have a twin? Does he have a twin? And then they're going to go to Western Carolina because the twin can only get a scholarship there and then they transfer. Well, I'm thinking more along the lines of like, you know, Jarvis and Jonas. Yeah. yeah That was their story. See, they would both have, they would both have kids. Oh oh yeah. Yeah. That's what I'm saying. Gotcha. They could be first cousins, but then just like Jarvis and Jonas. Right. Yeah. I mean better. I like that.
01:01:12
Speaker
Don't know. Don't know. And then John Michael D said, do we see Big Blue Nation tweets saying it's officially basketball season before this one is over? It's possible. I feel like they probably already have.
01:01:27
Speaker
They lost to Shane Beamer, guys. Yeah. Yeah. Fair enough. Fair enough. All right. Let's see. um All school is next up. Is this a trap game for Georgia? Are you mature enough to decline to swallow the rat poison? I feel like we we're mature. If last year left a chip on our shoulders, we will just routinely mash the lesser teams without looking ahead to the big games. What's funny is that last year,
01:01:54
Speaker
Kentucky was the team that it was, you know, for the last few years has been like, Oh, Kentucky's really good. Kentucky's really good. They didn't give George our game. And that was all the talk heading into the game last year. And they were the first team that we'd like curb really, really blew out. Yeah. It wasn't the, wasn't that line last year, like Georgia, like the written, the true sign of respect is when Georgia cares enough to blow you out. And I feel like that came out of Kentucky last year. So it's, it's just interesting that the difference um between that.
01:02:22
Speaker
in this year. So I agree. I'm not worried about rat poison, honestly. I'm not worried about rat and poison. I feel like Kirby's done a really good job in that regard with these kids. um Is it a trap game? I mean, I guess you could. like I guess it's it's possible, but just like everything is possible, but the likelihood of of that reality at this point in stage with the talent acquisition that Kirby has had you know I know that we've played them close in the past. It is a road game. It is at night. and is if it's If it's pouring rain, you know there's a higher likelihood, I feel like. But either way, I feel like we should comfortably you'd walk away. Yeah. Yeah, I agree.
01:03:03
Speaker
All right, the original friend of the show, Tim Riley. And if you're on YouTube, I put this whole, I put his whole tweet like with his selfie on here. And Tim, I hope that was okay. He put it on Twitter. So he said, Good morning. Good morning and go dogs this week from Norway. ah Stoops always plays a dog's tough. How many points does the night environment in Kentucky give the cats? I say close early, but dogs win big. It went big and head to the bye week.
01:03:30
Speaker
I would agree. um How many points? to get and I don't know. and I actually don't. To me, it's not so much the night, it's the weather, the rain, is what would, to me, would maybe swear at some points. Yeah, yeah. Not so much night, though. I'm not worried about our guys on the road at night. I think they get up for that kind of stuff.
01:03:51
Speaker
will they you will Will they score the first touchdown against us kind of thing? Right, yeah. yeah that That is a question. that is That is a thing. No one has scored a touchdown on this Georgia defense yet. We had that one a few years ago. It was like, when will anyone score a rushing touchdown? And so far this year, it's just ah a touchdown. I think that the question is not so much how many points does the UGA environment allow.
01:04:19
Speaker
I mean, like our defense by and large is starting to feel like it's and at ah at an elite level. And obviously we have some big tests coming up here on the road, um, as we get into the meat and potatoes of the schedule, but on paper. So you you remember the Clemson episode, you know, I talked about that we could have, we could have absolutely like curb stomped the eventual ACC champion. Yeah.
01:04:46
Speaker
They dominated last week, right? like yeah They completely dogged them. We have their players in the press conference talking about, we could have done that against Georgia if we won.
01:04:57
Speaker
Brother, this defense like pushed you out of the way, literally. um The defense lawyer looks really good, man. I don't know. I think that they went big, and I think they i think he shuts it down early. I hope to see Jackson Muschamp in this game.
01:05:16
Speaker
yeah but Is he even still here if he is? Even if even if he isn't, who knows? pull them out of this I mean, I mean shoot, Andrew Smart might take some snaps under under center. Will we will we get a good Andrew Smart reaction in this game? I did see him on. I saw him Clemson. I saw him on the sidelines when when Starks when Starks put on the Savage pads, he was there.
01:05:45
Speaker
What I'll say, what I'll say about what we can probably expect from from Andrew moving forward is probably like, I feel like that the days are numbered of him in his antics. Because he's starting to get into that stage where it's like, he's he's like kind of a teenager, kind of not like when they start to like Nothing. Things are cool. You know, they don't want to get as adventurous. They're a little more socially aware. And Andrew, we think it's cool. We think it's cool. Totally cool. So cool. Absolutely. He probably got a stern talking to about how to behave on camera after his little league performance, but that's a topic for another day. Gotcha.
01:06:28
Speaker
I thought you were going to say it was a Tennessee game last year. and Something that happened there too. Totally. Well, there's that, but I'm talking about like, I don't know. he was he He kind of fell apart in in that little league game that they had. like He was he was such he was had such a bad attitude in that and that in that game. It's like exactly what I try to tell Carter not to do.
01:06:48
Speaker
e ke Like when your defense isn't helping you when you're not doing well like throwing your head down and like Chin up chin up young man. and no kid Yeah baseball is a game of failure. Yeah. Anyway, all right ah still working on theatrics for this one, but we've been having some conversations but Uh, we had Jason's would you rather, um, from the hug dog. Uh, he also opened with happy birthday, John. So lots of, lots of birthday wishes. kate birthdays Thank you. i'm Feeling, feeling the love.
01:07:26
Speaker
All right. Would you rather bet the ponies at Keeneland or hit the bourbon trail, bourbon trail hands down, smash it. Same gambling is not my thing. Although you could do, uh, the other fun fact that I forgot about now that they've mentioned it is there's apparently a, uh, Kentucky double where you go to the horse races at Keeneland and then go to the night game at Kentucky.
01:07:49
Speaker
Hmm. Gotcha. Okay. so you could You, you, you, your listener could have a chance to hit the Kentucky double. Got it. Uh, yeah, I've been Georgia at Kentucky twice. I think I went twice. Um, never went to Keeneland. So not definitely a bourbon show. I'd go to the Kentucky Derby. Um, Kentucky Derby is a different thing though. Exactly. Exactly. So the arms is the masters of, uh, horse racing, I guess. Right.
01:08:14
Speaker
All right. Would you rather, uh, watch the dogs play at Kroger field or at Rupp Arena? I guess Rupp Arena. Cause it's more iconic, right? Aren't those tickets like thousands of dollars too? So for me, it's, it's Rupp just because I have never, I've never done it. Um, I've seen Georgia play Kentucky in the Steg. I've seen them play, uh, in the Georgia dome that, you know, has been employed. Um, but yeah, never, and I've never been there. That would that would be fun. Um,
01:08:44
Speaker
You know, the the dogs won at rep on the day Kim and I got married, by the way. There's my, there's another fun fact for you. Let's see how I got it. and Okay, off the rails. There is a hilarious moment in my arc, in like our wedding video ah with Saunders and Ragone talking about that, that the Georgia Bee Kentucky that day, it was hilarious. Mainly Ragone and then Saunders just laughing. It was amazing.
01:09:10
Speaker
I gotta show you that to you at some point um Would you rather make the second half boring or have a four quarter game second half boring? Totally always one is boring All right, this one is good this and this one gave you some consternation would you rather sack Brock or run over JDJ sack Brock All right. We're going to disagree. I'm going to go with he's running over people. He's running over people. so i was I figured that would be a ah good ah good response on that one. But given the fact that we have been struggling in the SAC department, guys, yeah I'm looking for them to show me and I would be happy for them to show me.
01:09:51
Speaker
Okay, you're still waiting, you're still waiting. And then last but not not least, ah would you rather see an Evans return a punt for a touchdown or a Starks pick six? No one's tough. So I was thinking about this has Starks has not had a pick six at Georgia, right? Well, partially because he's a safety, right? Yeah, other part of it is that he's making these acrobatic catches where he's basically having to do almost a backflip.
01:10:19
Speaker
That tends to not favor the return game. um Well, he can't land on his head. Sorry. Yeah. Yeah. Not in college. Not in college. Man, when when I saw this question come in, I was i was immediately like Anthony Evans, but now I'm like second-guess myself. But I'm going to stick with Anthony Evans because the kid's just electric. I feel like that they yeah that would light light things on fire a little bit more because we've seen Malachi make interceptions and stuff we know he's capable of that yeah but I feel like Anthony Evans has been so close a couple of times already and it's just like guy so close yeah I mean it was when that in the SEC Championship game it was like he was shot out of the cannon that first time we was saw him return a plant so
01:11:07
Speaker
Yeah, I think I'm gonna agree with you. I'm gonna go with that too. Yeah. I'll add a clarifying statement. um I'll take Anthony Evans running a punt back against Alabama. you Nice. Yeah. um Yeah, we've seen a bunch of kick returns um for the dogs at Kentucky. I think didn't joystick like run a punt and kick return back in the same game once? I feel like that sounds great. Sure. So yeah, we'll go with that. We'll go with that.
01:11:35
Speaker
um And then you close it out just with the love you mean it at your head dog dog. Yes, sir Um, all right. That is it for the listener questions. will that have dogs Would you rather from previously or did he do new ones? These were the new ones. I don't have the other ones handy. Um, I will say, yeah, hug dog. We missed them last time. Apologies. We meant to do them in the Tennessee tech review and I, that was my bed. So, and now I don't know what I did with them. I mean, they're on the interwebs. I could find them probably.
01:12:09
Speaker
um all right It is time Coaches Over Hunters. Cheers, Coach. The music has stayed the same for Coaches Over Hunters. But I will say, I feel like I need to admit to everyone what I texted you today, ah you and John and Hunter. Not this SCC on ABC theme song, but that anthem has kind of grown on me. Like I keep seeing it like in my feed, the Quavo, you know.
01:12:52
Speaker
the Lenny Kravitz song basically. Yeah, that does get me excited for the weekend when I see those. So and jack that's working on me. Yeah, it has energy. The other one basically just, right, right.
01:13:04
Speaker
bob bla All right. You are still in the lead JP. So I'm going to let you decide, do you want to take the ball or do you want to defer? Let's see. Since I have the luxury of seeing, you know, we're going to see what the first one is.

Predictions and Game Strategies

01:13:21
Speaker
Uh, so we're starting with, uh, rushing yards. Yeah. I'll go first. I'll take the over.
01:13:27
Speaker
Okay. Um, I will take the under on that. Uh, next up Georgia offense over under two and a half passing touchdowns. I'm going to take the over. I'll take the over on that one too.
01:13:41
Speaker
Okay. Uh, over to you running backs with the carry over under three and a half. I'll take the over over. Okay. Um, I'm gonna agree. I'll take the over cash i think it's a cash money. So good. So good. Um, all right. So my turn. Okay. Here we go. The question that I feel like this is just thrown in there every week, uh, over under two and a half sacks.
01:14:07
Speaker
for the Georgia defense. And I know what you're going to say, because you're going to say, show me. I'm taking the over. I'm taking over. OK, so I'm going to hedge and I'm going to go over. Oh, so you're not going to make him show you. OK, I'm going to hedge. That was a hedge. OK, that's right. That's the strategic, strategic. Watch out. Early season strategic already.
01:14:30
Speaker
and thing Let's see. All right. Over under 100 passing yards for Kentucky.
01:14:39
Speaker
it's This is insane. It's a savage line because you're like sitting there thinking like, what? It's so sad.
01:14:49
Speaker
I'll take the under. Oh, man. Oh, I can't I can't miss out on being right on that. So I'll take the under when I agree with you. All right. Over under. um One and a half forced turnovers for UGA, I assume.
01:15:10
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. All right. I guess it's my turn. um And one and a half turnovers. I'm going to go. I'm going to go over. I'll take the over there. OK. I could definitely see a pick and a fumble ah there. Yeah. So that was my logic. If it's raining, anyway all all bets are off. Right. Exactly. All right. Over to you, special teams. Over under two and a half punt returns for Anthony Evans. I'll take the over. OK.
01:15:39
Speaker
I'm gonna agree. I don't think the over um and then miss miscellaneous over under mentions on the broadcast Brock Van de Graaff or JDJ transferred from Georgia over under set at three and a half. Smash the over agreed agreed.
01:15:58
Speaker
Smash that over. Coach, I appreciate you. Thank you for sending these. Thank you for tracking them. I always like, it's a great moment on Sunday when coach sends us, uh, how they do results and the results for the week. It's always like such a great moment. Uh, it's always hilarious. So appreciate you, coach. Thank you.
01:16:17
Speaker
All right. Time to get into the predictions. Final predictions for the game. um There is a line this week. ah Last week, there was no line. um And a reminder that our predictions are for entertainment purposes only. ah We do not give gambling advice. It feels like a ah feels like there shouldn't have been a line based on the line.
01:16:38
Speaker
but yeah Yeah, I think when this came out, I think yeah i believe your text was a so lot of points. um So that the dogs are favored by 24. The over-under is 45. That gives an implied score of Georgia 34.5 to Kentucky 10.5. The predicted score um from Odd Shark is 42.2 for Georgia to 19.8 for Kentucky.
01:17:07
Speaker
Um, I threw a new one in here. I can't remember. I think, I don't know college football insiders, which that's like a collaboration, uh, with, uh, Parker Fleming, you know, stats the war. Um, he's helping out with that. So they've got a little modeler there. This cultural nerds thing doesn't seem to work anymore. So I plugged it in here. This one's got a little tighter Georgia, 37.2 to 22.61. So now that's predicted things have a lot of points for Kentucky. What do they, what't it what do they know?
01:17:36
Speaker
I, you know, those things are all there. I'm not going to pretend to understand it. That's where like, I'm sure Ross could explain it, but I still probably wouldn't understand it. um And that's a me thing, Ross. None do you think? I don't know. um I'm sure there's some kind of metric somewhere that's saying that.
01:17:53
Speaker
Also, I will say it's early in the season and there's not a lot of data to go from. I think in a lot of those models, when it's this early, they have to use some data from last season. So it's it's kind of weird. wow that yeah yeah since um So I go back and forth. Like if this was like a 330 sunny weather game, I would have like, I feel like I would have some kind of huge crazy score. I do kind of feel like this, that Kirby, this is going to be one of those classic The score it like it never feels close. Uh, kind of thing, but the score is somewhat close and then Georgia pulls away, but like it never felt close kind of thing, you know, um, like the Kirby smart at Kentucky special kind of deal. Um, so I'm going to go like, I'm going to go 30 to six Georgia. Ooh, bro. Are you serious? but I was going to do something like a 33 to six. Nice. That's okay. You can do that. It's her podcast.
01:18:52
Speaker
Yeah, I think that Mr. Alex, the local boy is a pretty good kicker that they're going to use as often as they can. Passing game, pretty weak. I don't think that they're going to be scoring too many touchdowns on us. It's kind of the overall, I like the 34 to 10. That sounds right, but I just don't see them scoring a touchdown on us. So yeah, it's the six. Okay. Yeah.
01:19:18
Speaker
Yeah, and I don't see it as like a name your score game like last weekend. Hold on, let's back up. I think that it could be. It's possible. Oh, yeah, absolutely. It's out on the table. It's definitely on the table. So this is all under the umbrella of Kirby Smart as a head coach, right? Yeah, exactly.
01:19:34
Speaker
He is not the person that's going to embarrass stoops. He also, you have to bear in mind that we're coming up on a bi-week. The last thing that he wants to do is jump out to a 30 to nothing halftime victory and then continue to pour it on. And then all of a sudden you get injuries in the second half. Like he is going to try to clean this thing up as quickly as possible and get everyone off the field. but Yep. Yeah. So I expect that Carson Beck will be, uh, maybe early third, early third quarter, like scratch here. Um, I think that, uh, we're going to pull anybody that's questionable as quickly as possible. You know, Malachi Starks, all those guys, like you don't want any of those guys getting hurt in the second half of a blowout in this particular game, in this particular game at this point in the season. Yeah.
01:20:28
Speaker
Yeah, for sure. that Clear the benches. Jackson Muschamp come out and throw some touchdowns. If you're still around. I would say I've had plenty of time to ah check on that and I never did it. So that's okay. We're just, we're, you know, people can yell at their podcast player of choice. Maybe Josh has told Josh, text us. Is Jackson Muschamp still the joke?
01:20:51
Speaker
yeah Yeah, seriously, whoever, whoever the third string quarterback is or whatever. We need an intern. Or or fifth fifth string quarterback. Yeah, we need an intern. um Yeah, I mean, yeah, so we, you know, we haven't seen anyone other than gun Gunner. um And we got what? Jaden Rashada. Yeah, Jaden Rashada. We got Pugliese. So, who knows? know when We'll see one of those guys. No, this is definitely a, you know. Confirm Jackson Muschamp is no longer on the roster.
01:21:22
Speaker
Okay. That's what I thought. I thought I was going crazy for a minute there. Okay. yeah Thank you for confirming crack research team. ge am i gonna take Who am I going to pick on? Uh, Oh, give me Sam Bush. Nice. Okay. Sam Bush throwing touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
01:21:41
Speaker
that I do not see happening. That would be amazing. yeah He's a freshman from Athens, by the way. Okay, okay. Yeah, no, this is a this is a protective of all when when the game thing for sure.

Other College Football Games

01:21:52
Speaker
So All right, we got, um, we, coach gave us a a few other games to look out for, uh, as you're watching college football on Saturday. Um, the first one is Bama traveling to Wisconsin. Um, Bama 16 point favorite on the road. That game is on Fox. I believe that is the big noon kickoff. So you're going to have a nooner, uh, of Alabama at Wisconsin.
01:22:17
Speaker
Um, I mean, I guess the tide will probably roll would be my guess. Um, they definitely, it was, USF was harder than it should have been last week. Um, and if USF had any kind of offense, it might've been able to actually stay close. They pulled away at the end. Um,
01:22:37
Speaker
I don't know. I don't know if they'll cover, but I think they'll win. Yeah, if you're a UGA fan looking for you know who to root for and in games like this, where it's a common opponent. I mentioned this at the tailgate last weekend. the you know I really didn't care who won or lost the the the Michigan-Texas game. um ae I think I actually said I'm rooting for the asteroid.
01:23:02
Speaker
um But really what i really what I'd like to see is, you know, any school that we that is on our schedule, I would like to have to see them empty the clip in order to to win. okay ya Like put everything that you got on film for us to see and and analyze. So if you were a Georgia fan, you were rooting for Bama in Wisconsin to be an absolute nail biter, like a kick six situation.
01:23:30
Speaker
Yeah, overtime. Multiple overtime. oh Multiple overtime. Yeah, exactly. like make them Make them have to empty the playbook to win this game. So if you were a ah if you're a proponent of a you know manufactured adversity or the long con or whatever, you want them to empty the playbook. Yeah, yeah.
01:23:50
Speaker
You got, who's your pick though? You got Bama or Wisconsin? I got Bama. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's see. The next one is... That was constant though. That's interesting. yeah It is interesting. That is interesting. Good on them. Good on them. You don't always see them do that. um Or maybe you do. and I don't know. Would that be a fun trip? I don't know. Would that be a fun trip? Didn't they do the jump around thing? Wasn't Reagan a professor at Wisconsin for a while?
01:24:14
Speaker
Mm hmm. Yep. Yep. Maybe he can advise. We're going to be listening. Yeah. We'll have to check out. We'll have to check out. He's going to go see him. Maybe stop by operating. You know, I actually thought about that when I was up there, but I just didn't have time. Yeah. All right. The second game is LSU at South Carolina. Game day is going to this game. I thought that was interesting. Yeah. Yeah. Early season game in Columbia. Brutal.
01:24:44
Speaker
They're going to get broke down in Gaffney, I know.
01:24:49
Speaker
LSU minus seven and a half ah at South Carolina. That is a wild. That is a wild line in my opinion. Is it not enough? I don't think it's enough points, but yeah. Yeah. They say that like that, that's one of those things and that this is where like, I don't really gamble. So I'm going. Yeah. If you're not a gambler, like I feel like isn't, don't you want to take LSU in the points? Because if they win more than seven and a half, you win. Is that how it works?
01:25:16
Speaker
It is how it works. Yeah. Oh, there's other stuff I've learned. There is other stuff that goes into it. Like it's not like you're not going to get straight money with that if you bet on the line. What I have heard, uh, actually I've heard Graham talk about this, like the way to make money is to bet on the money line, um, which is like a straight up thing. So if you bet a dog, if you bet the team that's the underdog to actually win on the money line, that's how, and then they win.
01:25:43
Speaker
That's how you can actually make money. We need to get gra not gambling advice is and We need to get Graham's gambling corner So, yeah or John or whoever these these are people Trigger tray and like these are people that like post their their picks and they're right ah all all these different things all the time I'm just like ah i waste them i I wish that I could do that, but I feel like I would just be walking down a ah pathway of darkness. Oh yeah, i am in a I am in a college football, based like fantasy pick-up league, I guess, um where it's all like it's not real money. like it's It's all just for writing. There is no money involved at all. like There's not even like a pot or anything, and it's still like so fun.
01:26:31
Speaker
it's and it's all against his bread. um So I always look at that and be like, to see how hard it is. um And I'm doing it with, you know, fake money. So anyways, how are you doing? um I am like, even so far this year. So I try to just kind of, I do it for longevity because if you lose too much like fake money or whatever, you get kicked out. So you have to like last the whole season. So if you go in the hole more than a thousand, I guess points you're, you're out. Uh, so I, I've kind of played the long game and I don't, I kind of spread my money around a bunch across a bunch of games to try and just stay in. And then I kind of pick up, pick my moment to go for it. So I won that league once I've been into it, been in for a long time. So I'm not very good, but.
01:27:15
Speaker
All right. I got the tires. I got LSU. and But that line stinks. like I feel like somebody knows something, but we'll see. Yeah. You got LSU as well. Yep. Texas A and&M. Shane Beamer. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Texas A&M go into the swamp to play the Gators. A and&M is favored by three and a half.
01:27:36
Speaker
but Also a small, that's, it feels like a a low line. Right. Super low line. Yeah. So, uh, I'm, I'm gonna go A&M. I, I really, I really don't want A and&M to win because Jim, if A&M wins this game, I feel like it pretty much seals the fate of, uh, one, one, one, one, Billy Napier. Yeah. Um, yeah. Gosh darn it. He's such a good coach for Florida. It just makes sense for him to be there.

I mean, he just needs to stick around. I mean, yeah, I'm gonna go. You gotta go with the you gotta to go with the Gators at the swamp against these guys. But okay, three and a half is super short. Yeah, yeah. Alright, and then Boston College at Missouri. So Missouri favored by 16 and a half to Boston College who has already notched a notch to win over Ford State. Let's not forget that.
01:28:34
Speaker
Is there a value there? or is there but It's just a fact. I'm just sitting back. then It is the is a stated fact. I'll go to Missouri. and Their schedule is a Columbia. is the tough to do Yeah. All right. That's it for coaches, uh, pick them games. Um, so yeah I mean, there's some, there's some good games this weekend. i I think it's kind of odd that you got, uh,
01:29:01
Speaker
game day at LSU South Carolina, but I guess that kind of is what it is. i I'm assuming the big noon thing is at Wisconsin, so there would only be the same place. I mean, so i I'd love to understand the decision making process that brings game day to Columbia. that It's just kind of like, what? like yeah Is there really no other good games? Like, I mean, I feel like Alabama, Wisconsin,
01:29:25
Speaker
Yes, I'm saying my guess is, but that's the, that's the Fox big noon kickoff. They're going to be there. So I'm guessing they just don't want to go to the same place. So they're, they're playing the favorite game. Yeah. Although they're both at Michigan, Texas last week, but I guess maybe that one was big enough to warrant it. you Yeah. I guess Wisconsin's not ranked. Let's see who else we got here. I'm just going down the i mean Oregon, Oregon, Oregon state. I mean, you know, no longer, no longer a conference game.
01:29:53
Speaker
Bedlam, isn't that what they call it? No, Bedlam is Oklahoma, Oklahoma State. Oh, I guess I got it my wrong. and wrong Oregon oron State is the Civil War, right? Civil War, yeah, something something like that. yeah has a human name It has a really cool name.
01:30:08
Speaker
We had a North Carolina match-up with App State against East Carolina. I'll be interested in that one for local purposes. Local purposes. Yeah, not a lot. There's not a lot. Not a lot going on this weekend. I mean, heck, number one UGA versus Kentucky. The game's on a broadcast channel at night. That's like when you would typically have a game-based situation, but I guess, I don't know.
01:30:33
Speaker
there there There are better options out there, I feel like, than LSU and South Carolina. Yeah. Well, what's your plan for Saturday? What's your what's your game day look like? Lindsay's actually my wife is heading out of town for a concert. She's actually going to go see Amos Lee at Red Rock, which I'm super jealous of. Oh, nice. Yeah. Don't give me a start.
01:30:55
Speaker
Oh yeah, Boston College at Missouri. That's two ranked teams. Boom. Done. yeah um So this weekend I'm i'm flying solo. Got a lot of homecoming as this weekend. So I was doing the homecoming thing. Camden's got cheerleading. Carter's got flag football. So I should be in a position to sit down and watch the game. um i'm I'm thinking that if it's not raining, I might pull the TV outside.
01:31:26
Speaker
but But yeah, I'll be at home. I'll be at home um be home for the most part, probably just waiting to see if it happens with the homecoming situation, but yeah. um Yeah, to be should be fairly low key.
01:31:39
Speaker
Okay. Yeah, that's pretty much us, us too. and Not much going on. We might try to do a double header sports event on Saturday. We may go to the Charlotte Knights, our local minor league baseball team. And this is the final weekend. So we might head over to the Knights Saturday afternoon. ah They've got, they got double header. So may go to the early game. It's like a seven inning game. So we'll be over early.
01:32:04
Speaker
Um, so may go do that. Uh, if not, I'm just being around the house, but, uh, that's fine. Is that in downtown Charlotte? It is. Although we call it uptown here for some reason, uh, is uptown. Yeah, there's no downtown. It's uptown. It's a thing. I don't know.
01:32:20
Speaker
Yeah, I've been here for 14 years. I don't know why that is. But I learned it quickly. Like when we got here, we said downtown. So what do you mean downtown? What? You mean uptown? I guess. Sure. Yeah. So yeah.

Episode Wrap-Up and Farewells

01:32:34
Speaker
But yes, it is. it is a it's an It's in the city.
01:32:37
Speaker
um it's It's actually right by bank America, but where we went for dogs Clemson. It's right on the street. Yeah, I know. I'm I, yeah, I remember. I know where the stadium is. Yeah. That's the stadium. So I remember going by it and being like, Oh, that's cool. Yeah. Yeah. Baseball game.
01:32:53
Speaker
So yeah, just do that. And then we'll, you know, do you have any cool beers that they only make there? Oh, only make there. No, like not like the cannonball or beer. Yeah. And that that beer, they stop making that. i know you think So yeah but yeah, but yeah, there's nothing ah I could be lying. There might be a night's beer. Actually, there is a night's beer. I don't remember what it's called, though. Oh, if I go out, I will report. Is it a cool logo? The night's logo.
01:33:21
Speaker
Yeah. ah They changed it. I'm always fascinated. I'm always fascinated because where Carter grew up with baseball or whatever, like where where where the the park that we came from, they once you reach a certain age, it stops being like major league baseball teams. and It's it's like the minor league teams. The minor league teams.
01:33:40
Speaker
Yeah, I'm always like fascinated by the logos like it's always like the cannonballer logo like they yeah, the cannonballer Canapolis cannonballers or whatever. Yeah, that logo when I first saw those like oh, that's the beer logo. but Yeah, yeah, that's a great logo.
01:33:57
Speaker
um that's great the knights are they're more like a it's more traditional i would say because i mean they're triple a i feel like those are a little more traditional talent but yes i mean they're the knights like it's like a knight helmet thing it's like a ucf type knight yeah yeah it is actually so dude they they do like change things up like they'll wear different colors sometimes and that kind of stuff like So it's kind of like that, but then they'll do almost like Charlotte Hornets colors sometimes. um The other thing is they're the affiliate, they're a white Sox affiliate. So they, I have a hat that says like CLT that looks like the old white Sox, the old white Sox. That's pretty cool. That's cool. Um, their, uh, their opponent on Saturday, an absolutely amazing baseball team name. See, I don't even know. I haven't even looked at the Jacksonville jumbo shrimp.
01:34:48
Speaker
Oh, yes, yes. That is a good one. That is i and like that is such a minor league. and And then the logo is like a little shrimp that looks like it's got boxing gloves on. I mean, i'm i i I'm wondering if they'll have any of their merch at the game. Probably not. But that'd be sweet.
01:35:07
Speaker
like I like to like go work when they play the stripers and like wear my brave stuff. There you go. There you go. I'll pull that sometimes. They're fun, though. If you're ever in Charlotte and there's a game going on, I highly recommend the Knights games are a blast. so anyway rate But yeah, so then be albe we'll be at home watching the porch probably light a fire. Light a fire, sit outside, watch the game. I'm hoping that it's kind bourbon so i'm hoping that it it stays dry so that I can do the fire as well. Cool.
01:35:35
Speaker
Cool. I don't have a covered patio like you do a little. All good. All good. Cool, man. Well, that was fun. um First true road game. See some guys used to play for the dogs. be That'll be kind of weird, but... t me yeah Yeah, I think we got a... I think we're we're pretty in line with kind of how we're thinking about this one. so Absolutely. Well, if you were traveling, stay safe. If you are participating in bourbon tours, et cetera, yeah Uber, yes or or or you can be truly elite and get a bus situation like ah the the Motown folks. true um man ah Talk about FOMO. If you are going, feel free to tag us and post us in all of your pictures, ah particularly if they're related to the bourbon variety.
01:36:24
Speaker
Yeah. Um, but yeah, man, we're, I'm hoping that, uh, this is a, I hope this is a clear the benches game and it's over by halftime and we get cash money in the second quarter. I seen the game basically. Nice. Like it until next time, Jim, go dogs, go dogs.
