00:00:26
Speaker
General Superintendent of Grace Temple Fellowship of Churches in the US and Jamaica. We welcome you to our first inaugural Grace Talk podcast. We're grateful for you fellowshiping with us on this medium.

Understanding Effective Grace

00:00:42
Speaker
We're thankful for the Lord and all his blessings and all that he does, and it is our desire just to share with you for a few minutes. Our first broadcast, we want to discuss about
00:00:54
Speaker
the concept of effective grace. I don't know, perhaps you were like me when I first came into this affirmation. I was a little confused because they began to tell me, you have to do this, you have to do that in order to be saved. And that seemed a conflict with my early religious education that said that Jesus died on the cross for you. And if you trust and believe in
00:01:23
Speaker
his sacrifice and the blood that he shed, then you're saved. And I came to the conclusion that they're both somewhat right. They're both somewhat correct. I'm sure that there was no intentionality to mislead, but there seemed to be a conflict between those two concepts.

The Role of Jesus' Sacrifice in Salvation

00:01:44
Speaker
And so I prayed about it, I thought about it, and the Lord seemed to deal with me about the concept of
00:01:51
Speaker
effective grace and with that understanding that eliminated the conflict between those two religious thoughts. Now I begin to understand that God a man in a wonderful way gave his only begotten son and if we trust and believe in his atoning blood, if we accept the fact that he died in our place, if we understand that he made a
00:02:20
Speaker
tremendous sacrifice so that we would not have to suffer the pains of death, but that God could be satisfied with a substitutionary sacrifice. It does something to your thinking. When you really understand that you should have been the one on the cross, you should have been the one that died, but God in his marvelous mercy and grace allowed his son to take your place.

Transformation Through God's Grace

00:02:48
Speaker
Now, I know in this world that we're in today,
00:02:50
Speaker
That doesn't mean much to a lot of people that somebody would die for you. It just doesn't mean something is passé. We just go about our business as if nothing has happened and we feel like we deserve it of these blessings. But for those of us who have embraced God as our creator and our savior, we understand how wonderful the blessing is. And in gratitude, in gratitude,
00:03:20
Speaker
We learn to love him in return and desire to serve him. And so this whole concept of effective grace is that when we've embraced the grace that God has, it begins to begin to be effectual in us. It brings about transformation. It brings about change. It brings about an alignment with God. It brings about a full desire to want to be in compliance with the Lord and to show him back the love
00:03:49
Speaker
that he has shared with us. And so we embrace the love of God. We embrace the grace of God and it begins to work in us. Amen. And the inevitable result of that is a righteous life. And so when we come to that point where our life has been changed and our life has been made new and our life has began to conform with the blessing of God's word,
00:04:19
Speaker
then that grace has become effective. The reality is is that if we do not change, if there is no transformation, then that grace is of non-effect. Let me share a few scriptures

Living a Righteous Life by Grace

00:04:33
Speaker
with you. Ephesians chapter 3 verse 7. Whereof, Paul is speaking, whereof I was made a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.
00:04:49
Speaker
In other words, he's saying, I became who I am because of the grace of God was working in me. Doesn't that make you stop and think, what can God make you to be? What can God cause you to come into if you just accept God's grace? Galatians 5 and 4 said, Christ has become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law, you have fallen from grace.
00:05:17
Speaker
And so we understand, yes, there's a place. Yes, the Lord is expecting us to live a holy and a righteous life. And He gives us grace, not just for time to comply, not just to excuse our sin, but to give us the opportunity to come into agreement and alignment with Him. And so I would encourage you today, embrace the grace of God, embrace
00:05:44
Speaker
this wonderful gift that God has for you in your life.

Conclusion and Blessings

00:05:48
Speaker
And in doing so, they may allow it to work effectively and effectively in your being so that God can bring you into the person he wants you to be. God bless you. Amen. We love you. Our prayer is for you to be blessed in the Lord. God bless you and thank you for joining us in grace talk. This concludes our segment.
00:06:13
Speaker
We pray in the hope that what you just heard blesses and encourages you. Please join us next time on Grace Talk. Until then, Godspeed.
