00:00:00
Speaker

There are people that say, we're just emotional, but we're not just emotional, but beloved, let me tell you, we are and emotional people. How can you not receive the blessed gifts of the Holy Spirit and the and the relationship that we develop with Christ Jesus and not get emotional about it? There has to be a joy that overtakes us, a happiness that dwells within us, and we become very enthusiastic about worshiping and serving God.
00:00:35
Speaker
The gospel message alone should be enough. But when you enter that the joy of the Holy Spirit, we ought to be bouncing our balls with excitement about God making a change and a difference in in our life.

awesome Feast of Pentecost. and We're still rejoicing in the experience that we had. often think of Pentecost as being a day in which we celebrate God's gift of the Holy Ghost.
00:02:04
Speaker
The indwelling Spirit gives hope to a dying and hopeless world. But in reality, it's not the day we celebrate. Pentecost is much more than a day. It's an occasion, a personal event.
Origins and Impact of Pentecost
00:02:19
Speaker
The occasion can happen any day. But on Savant 6, which is the Feast of Pentecost or the Feast of Weeks, in the Hebrew calendar, we remember and celebrate it.
00:02:32
Speaker
So this occasion brings about a dynamic conversion in the center's life. We receive a life which is abundant and fruitful. ah We are converted from sinful ways to a holy life.
00:02:46
Speaker
We can never go back or be the same again because the Holy Spirit remains in us. The original institution is found in Exodus chapters 19 and 20.
00:02:58
Speaker
In chapter 19, Israel arrives at Mount Sinai at the beginning of the third month, which is Savan. A mixed multitude had left Egypt, but at Sinai, God gave Israel the law, making them a nation.
00:03:14
Speaker
We have so much more to celebrate than Israel had to celebrate.
Life Revived by the Holy Spirit
00:03:19
Speaker
Acts chapter two, verse one tells us, and when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
00:03:29
Speaker
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a Russian mighty wind. And it filled all the house where they were sitting. Why when?
00:03:40
Speaker
Praise the Lord, because in creation, God breathed into Adam the breath of life. And because of sin, that life departed man. And man has been dead, had been dead ever since.
00:03:53
Speaker
But the Holy Spirit brings us life and we move from death to life. And that wind, that rushing wind is the very time or the breath of life that God gives us to us.
00:04:09
Speaker
And it filled all the house where they were sitting and there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as a fire and it set upon each of them. And listen, verse four, and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak the with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Steps to Receiving the Holy Spirit
00:04:33
Speaker
Amen. This experience causes us to be aware of God and in a new way and in a special way. And then God leads us and the Spirit leads us to ask the question that was asked of Simon Peter after his Pentecost sermon.
00:04:49
Speaker
In Acts chapter 2, verse 37, the question was, now when they heard this, They were pricked in their heart and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, men and brethren, what shall we do?
00:05:05
Speaker
And Peter answered that question. In the very next verse, that iconic verse in Acts chapter two, verse 38, then Peter said unto them, repent, repent, repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the

Holy Ghost. We really have to question when people do not follow this defined process, because first, there has to be a change in your thinking.
00:05:35
Speaker
There has to be a a conversion of thought. that has to proceed in a conversion of doing. There has to be a conversion of thinking.
00:05:46
Speaker
Our mind has to change and we have to come to a conclusion that I no longer want to be in sin. And so he said, first of all, you have to repent. Then you have to be washed. You have to be cleansed. You have to be baptized.
00:06:00
Speaker
Amen. In Jesus name, under the authority of Jesus Christ. And when that happens, your sins are taken away. And beloved, when your sins are taken away, there's such a freedom. There's such a glorious peace that comes.
00:06:15
Speaker
And in that moment, God gives us the the the the the that time when we can ah receive that gift

of the Holy Spirit. When our mind, that moment comes when our mind, amen, is able to accept and receive the Holy Spirit.
00:06:35
Speaker
And it's because of this indwelling Holy Spirit, that we become an enthusiastic people. There are people that say, well, we're just emotional, but we're not just emotional. But be beloved, let me tell you, we are And emotional people. How can you not receive the blessed gifts of the Holy Spirit and and the relationship that we develop with Christ Jesus and not get emotional about it? There has to be a joy that overtakes us, a happiness that dwells within us.
00:07:05
Speaker
And we become very enthusiastic about worshiping and serving God. The gospel message alone should be enough. But when you add to that the joy of the Holy Spirit, we ought to be bouncing our balls with excitement about God making a change and a difference and in our life.
00:07:25
Speaker
ah We're always excited because God still moves his

00:07:30
Speaker
people today. We are moved by the presence of his Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1, verse 21, For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man,
00:07:40
Speaker
But holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. It develops in us a sense of work that is hot work. I call it hot work.
00:07:55
Speaker
Praise the Lord. Amen. there There ought to be some. You don't want to be cold in Christ. You don't want to be cold in your labor. You don't want to be cold in the things that you do for the Almighty. Amen. When you work for God, you want to have a fervor and ed you want to be on fire for him. Acts chapter 18, verse 24 and 25.
00:08:17
Speaker
And a certain Jew named Apollos, born in Alexandria, an eloquent man. And mighty in the scriptures came to Ephesus. Verse 25 said, this man was instructed in the way of the Lord and being fervent in spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. Listen to that. He had a fervor because he understood a new God and he wasn't even filled with the Holy Spirit.
Expressive Worship through the Holy Spirit
00:08:48
Speaker
He only knew the baptism of John. He rejoiced in the fact that his sins had been remitted and taken away. And because of that, he caught on fire for God. There was such a fervency in him.
00:09:01
Speaker
Matthew Henry commentary calls Paul a lively, affectionate preacher, fervent in spirit. This is what the knowledge of God and the blessing of the Lord will do with us and do for us.
00:09:14
Speaker
Because when God is present, Things just shake. Praise the Lord. They used to call us holy rollers. They used to call us amen. All of these things because we were so expressive in our worship and our praise. But let me tell you something. when the Holy Spirit comes, you've got to do something.
Boldness from the Holy Spirit
00:09:34
Speaker
There's an old song that says, I've got to scream. I've got to holler sometimes because of the goodness of the Lord.
00:09:41
Speaker
Acts chapter four, verse 31. And when they had prayed, the place was shaken. where they were assembled together and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost.
00:09:52
Speaker
And they spake the word of God with boldness. It's very interesting because we back up a few verses to verse 25. It tells us that the heathens are raging.
00:10:03
Speaker
Amen. they They don't mind being expressive. They don't mind being on fire for their God. They don't mind being fervent for the evil and wrong things. We should be even more so on fire for

00:10:20
Speaker
the Lord. And when we come together, there ought to be a shaking in that place.
00:10:26
Speaker
So, beloved, I want you to know that when God really moves, he's hard to resist. When God really comes in your life, it's hard to say no.
00:10:38
Speaker
Jeremiah chapter 20, verse 9. Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in my heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones. And I was weary with forbearing and I could not stay.
00:10:57
Speaker
Beloved, I want you to know this Pentecostal experience is so much more than receiving the law on Mount Sinai. God has taken that law and wrote it upon the tables of our heart.
00:11:11
Speaker
He has given it to us and made an impression within us and made it a part of our character and our nature.
Feast of Pentecost and Future Gatherings
00:11:18
Speaker
And because of that, we are glad today. I'm thankful in your words, yet rejoicing in the Feast of Pentecost, saints, as we head toward the Feast of Trumpets and the end time feast, those feasts that deal with the gathering of God's people together and those last days.
00:11:36
Speaker
And that time when we shall enter into his kingdom and rejoice forevermore, so shall we ever be with the Lord. God bless you. Grace and peace. We love you today.
