Living with a Biblical Worldview
00:00:20
Speaker
Hello. Welcome to Grace Talk. I'm Elder D. Anthony Ray. Today,
00:00:25
Speaker
I just want to encourage you to live with a biblical worldview. You see, as believers, the Word of God must determine how we see and interpret the world around us. You see, this will only happen if we allow the Word of God to be more than what we intellectually comprehend
00:00:48
Speaker
or what we're even able to recite. The Bible must influence our thoughts. It must also influence our understanding and it also has to influence our actions. You know, it must become the basis for who we are. The first thing that we have to understand is that our worldview is colored by the influences in our lives.
00:01:14
Speaker
There are many different influence that color our views. These can include how we were raised. They may include our educational background. They may be even determined by the people that we have in our lives or surround ourselves with. But as believers, our main influence, though,
00:01:33
Speaker
has to be the living Word of God, the Spirit of God that lives on the inside of us.
Living as Christ's People
00:01:41
Speaker
Colossians chapter two, verses six through eight in the God's Word translation reads this way. You have received Christ Jesus the Lord. So continue to live as Christ's people. Sink your roots in him and build on him. Be strengthened by the faith that you were taught and overflow with thanksgiving.
00:02:03
Speaker
Be careful not to let anyone rob you of this faith through a shallow and misleading philosophy. Such a person follows human traditions and the world's way of doing things rather than following Christ.
Renewing the Mind and Aligning Actions
00:02:20
Speaker
Not only must we understand that our worldview is colored by the influences in our lives, but we also must understand that we will only develop a biblical worldview and see things the way God sees them if the word of God is in our hearts and minds.
00:02:41
Speaker
The Bible says in Romans chapter 12, verses one and two, I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
00:03:07
Speaker
I really like how it reads in the God's word translation. It says this, brothers and sisters, in view of all we have just shared about God's compassion, I encourage you to offer your bodies as living sacrifices dedicated to God and pleasing to him.
Internalizing God's Covenant
00:03:24
Speaker
This kind of worship is appropriate for you. Don't become like the other people of this world. Instead, change the way you think.
00:03:35
Speaker
then you will always be able to determine what God really wants, what is good, pleasing, and perfect. The Bible says in Hebrews chapter 8 verses 10 through 12, it says this about the Lord. He says, for this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, said the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds
00:03:59
Speaker
and write them in their hearts. And I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people. And they shall not teach every man his neighbor and every man his brother saying, know the Lord, for all shall know him from the least to the greatest. For I will be merciful unto their unrighteousness and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more." See, not only
00:04:29
Speaker
must we understand that our worldview is colored or influenced by what we surround ourselves with. And not only must we understand that we will develop a biblical worldview and see things the way that God sees them when the word of God is in our hearts and in our minds.
Scripture in Action
00:04:49
Speaker
But lastly, we must also understand that the more we engage with Scripture,
00:04:54
Speaker
the more we should align with Scripture. You see, we must search and seek for understanding. And after receiving that understanding, we then must put the Word of God into action in our daily lives. You see, the goal for us should not be just to get through the Bible, but rather the goal should be for the Bible to get in and through us.
Guidance of the Holy Spirit
00:05:21
Speaker
The Bible says in Galatians 5, verses 16 and 17, in the New Living Translation, it says, so I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won't be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants.
00:05:42
Speaker
and the spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. Again, today,
00:06:00
Speaker
I want to encourage you to live your life with a biblical worldview. Allow the spirit of God to guide you, allow the spirit of God to be, and the word of God to be the basis of your thoughts, the basis of your action, the basis of your understanding.
Influence of Word and Spirit
00:06:20
Speaker
Allow it to influence your everyday life. When we do this, we'll be pleasing to God.
00:06:28
Speaker
When we do this, we will be who God has called us to be. When we do this, there's a reward for those who labor for him on this side. Anything else is short of eternal life. Therefore, live with the biblical worldview. Allow it to influence your thoughts, to influence your understanding, and to influence your actions. Be blessed in Jesus' name.
Conclusion and Farewell
