00:01:02

00:01:15

Speaker
You don't have to do anything other than download it and print for your convenience. And that is just your little motivational tool so that you can see how far you've come. It's not just, ah it's not like it's a to-do list, it's an achievement.
00:01:58
Speaker
So this is no small accomplishment that you are following along and listening to the Bible this year.

Personal Insights and Biblical Context

00:02:05
Speaker
And when you look back and see the days that you've listened to the Bible this year, it doesn't have to be on that date.
00:02:11
Speaker
It can be whichever day you have time to get around to it. You are hearing the whole big story this year. I know that as I attend service at church on the weekend and when we are learning about what is going on from the the the rabbi, I now have a greater understanding of what it is that's going on because I understand the timeline in which things are happening.
00:02:36
Speaker
it's I am just finding that my comprehension for the the biblical story has really increased. And so I think that you will probably find that that is true for you as well.
00:02:47
Speaker
So i this is an unanticipated story. Benefit that I have experienced in doing this event and in hearing the whole story chronologically is that now when I hear the stories ah ah from the teachings of the the rabbi or the pastor on Saturday, that now I just have greater understanding of what is going on.
00:03:10
Speaker
And i just love that. And I've been, I've done a lot of Bible studies over the years and i was a pretty regular church attender. So it's not like I didn't know the the stories. It's just that now I have comprehension as to what was going on and when, and it helps me in my understanding for what's going on in our own reading too.
00:03:30
Speaker
because it happens that we are going through Jeremiah on Saturdays. And guess what? We are starting Jeremiah today.

Prophecies and Interpretations

00:03:38
Speaker
So I just really feel like God is tying everything in together to give comprehension.
00:03:43
Speaker
It doesn't do us much good to just read the Bible if we don't understand what we are reading. And so this event is helping to foster understanding. So I'm so glad that you are here with me and fostering your understanding of the big picture so that you too can experience greater comprehension and understanding when you are attending any Bible studies or a church.
00:04:07
Speaker
So let's go ahead and get started. We are going to be finishing the book of Zephaniah. ah Now, what's interesting is in the the book of Jeremiah, they actually reference Zephaniah today ah when I was at my church service.
00:04:23
Speaker
And I was like, I know who Zephaniah whereas before would not have known. So Zephaniah and Jeremiah are prophets during the same time. And that's why we are seeing them chronologically in our Bible right here at the same time in this day by day kids Bible.
00:04:41
Speaker
So it is, like I said, it's just so exciting to see the connections and who and where and when and why. ah I'm just really loving it.
00:04:51
Speaker
So here we go. We're going to be finishing in the book of Zephaniah. And what's wonderful about the book of Zephaniah is that God is giving in this short book, it's only three chapters long, but God explains that when the people are taken,
00:05:09
Speaker
It is meant to be a restorative process. It's so and not simply just discipline for their behavior. God is going to purify them through this event, this first taking.
00:05:22
Speaker
And ah and the people who come back, who are left, will be... ah like Like when you're gathering fruit and you separate them into a basket and you toss away the ones that are not good.
00:05:37
Speaker
This will be the fruit that is good. So we're going to be reading about that. And it will be referring to um both they're their first exile as well as the coming of Jesus.
00:05:55
Speaker
So we're going to be reading also about the coming of Jesus in Zephaniah. I love how God is so and consistent and repetitious in his announcing of bringing Jesus to us and to to the people.
00:06:15
Speaker
So here we go, Zephaniah chapter 3. This will cover verses 1 through 2 and 8 through 20 in our big picture today. And it's entitled, Making Clean Hearts. There's bad news for Jerusalem.
00:06:29
Speaker
People there give others a hard time. They turn against God and their hearts and lips are dirty with sin. They don't obey anybody.
00:06:40
Speaker
They don't let anybody show them what's right. They don't trust God and they don't come close to God. So wait for me.
00:06:51
Speaker
says God. I will get kingdoms together. i will let my anger flow out on them. All the world will burn in my anger. Then i will make people's hearts and lips clean.
00:07:05
Speaker
I will do it so they can all call on my name. They can all serve me together. i will take away people who are glad to be proud. You won't ever brag again on my holy hill.
00:07:19
Speaker
I will leave people here who know they are not great. They trust in my name. The people of Israel who are left won't do wrong.
00:07:30
Speaker
They won't lie. They will get to eat and sleep and nobody will make them afraid.
00:07:38
Speaker
Sing and shout, Israel. God has stopped bringing you trouble for your sin. God has sent your enemies away. God is the king of Israel.
00:07:50
Speaker
He is with you and you will never be afraid of getting hurt again. On that day, people will tell Jerusalem, Don't be afraid.
00:08:02
Speaker
God is with you. He is strong and he can save you. he will be happy with you. He will enjoy you. he will show he is happy with you by singing.
00:08:16
Speaker
i will take away the sadness you feel, says God. I will pay back the people who give you a hard time. I will bring your riches back and you will see it with your own eyes.
00:08:31
Speaker
We're going to read a little bit about King Josiah. And this is in 2nd Chronicles chapter 34 verses 3 through 7. It's called getting rid of idols.
00:08:43
Speaker
As King Josiah grew up, he followed God and he got rid of idols. He got rid of altars for idols and he got rid of worship places for idols.
00:08:55
Speaker
He was a good king.
00:08:58
Speaker
I added that last part just as a narrative.

Jeremiah's Calling and God's Plan

00:09:01
Speaker
Now we are going to begin the book of Jeremiah. And we in chapter 1, this is entitled, I'm like a child.
00:09:12
Speaker
These are Jeremiah's words. God began talking to him when Josiah was Judah's king.
00:09:21
Speaker
God spoke to me. I knew you before I made you inside your mother. I chose you before you were born. says God.
00:09:32
Speaker
I chose you to be a prophet. I chose you to tell my words to the nations. Lord God, i said, I'm not good at talking to people. I'm like a child.
00:09:48
Speaker
Don't say that you are like a child, said God. You have to go where I tell you to go. You have to say what I tell you to say. Don't be afraid of people.
00:10:00
Speaker
I am with you. I will take care of you. Then God touched my mouth with his hand and he said, I have put my words in your mouth.
00:10:13
Speaker
Now you can tell the nations what I say. You can tear them down. You can build them back up too. Then God asked, What do you what do you see I see a pot, I said. It's boiling and it's tipping over from the north.
00:10:33
Speaker
Trouble will boil out from the north, said God. It will come over everybody living here in Judah. I am going to call the nations from the north. Their kings will come here.
00:10:46
Speaker
They will sit at Jerusalem's gate. They will fight against Judah's towns. I'll judge my people because they turned away from me. They worshipped idols.
00:10:59
Speaker
Get ready, said God. Stand up. Tell my people what I say and don't be scared of them or else I will scare you. I have made you like a fort, said God.
00:11:13
Speaker
You are like an iron post. You are like a metal wall. You will stand against this whole land. You will stand against kings, leaders, priests, and people.
00:11:28
Speaker
They will fight you, but they will not win because I am with you and I will save you.
00:11:37
Speaker
That is the end of our reading today.
00:11:43
Speaker
So I wanted to give us some insight as to Jeremiah. Jeremiah says that he was like a child because he was under the age of accountability. So he was under the age of 21 and he was not expecting to be ready. His father,
00:11:59
Speaker
uh was a prophet was a priest was a priest i believe and so he was saying that he was not old enough to take on this responsibility god said you don't get to tell me when you're not old enough you don't get to say that you are like a child because god was going to give him the words to say if god gives us something to do he will equip us to do it And that's part of our big application today is that God will equip us.
00:12:31
Speaker
Not only that, but God says that he knew Jeremiah before his mother was even pregnant with him. God knows us before we were even ever in the womb.
00:12:48
Speaker
How can you know somebody as a person before they are even born? God can. God knew who Jeremiah was going to be. And he chose Jeremiah to be a prophet and to speak what he was going to tell him.
00:13:03
Speaker
God knows everything. He knows you. He knows me. And he knows he created you to be so that you could do the work that he has set out for you to do.
00:13:15
Speaker
and God has set out work for you to do He has purpose for you. He has purpose for me. And God

Unity in Serving God

00:13:22
Speaker
knew that purpose before we were even conceived.
00:13:28
Speaker
Conceived is the word for being inside the mother's womb. Before that ever occurred, God knew us. Our God is amazing. He knows everything.
00:13:41
Speaker
And God tells us here in Zephaniah that he when he brings Jesus, he says, i will make people's hearts and lips clean.
00:13:54
Speaker
And so he says that he will do it so we can all call on his name. And we can all serve him together. So not only did he know us before we were born, but he wants us to work together to serve him.
00:14:12
Speaker
Isn't that wonderful? We are called to work together. We are all one body in Jesus. We're not all the same part. We are not all hands. We are not all feet.
00:14:22
Speaker
We are not all eyes. We are not all mouths. But each one of us, God knew who he created us to be, just like he told Jeremiah. And we are meant to serve God together unity.
00:14:38
Speaker
i love that. And he says he did this so that everybody could be able to call on God's name. He wants everybody to come to him.
00:14:51
Speaker
Isn't that a beautiful message? God is so reassuring. He tells us so many times that he wants everybody to come to him. He wants all people to call on his name.
00:15:02
Speaker
And not only that, But he wants us to work together as a team. We are on the same team. We are part of the same body. I am so glad that you are my sisters and my brothers in Jesus.
00:15:19
Speaker
And together we are one with God. So we are not just part of the same body. We are one with God as we learned a few days ago this week.
00:15:30
Speaker
The Holy Spirit was given to us. The Holy Spirit hears from Jesus. We have the mind of Jesus. And Jesus is one with the Father.
00:15:40
Speaker
So together we are all interconnected. So it goes beyond just being made clean. It goes into shalom. Jesus, the Prince of Peace, God with us, has brought us shalom, wholeness, and wellness.
00:15:57
Speaker
We are one with him and we are meant to work together in unity because God knew us before we were ever even conceived.
00:16:09
Speaker
How do you like that? Doesn't that just make you smile and joyful? i am so thankful for for the way that God has drawn us all together. And we are here together with this event as well.
00:16:22
Speaker
love that. It doesn't matter if you are hearing this in 2025, in 2026, in 2030, whatever year you are hearing it, we are meant to serve God together. And we are sisters and brothers in God.
00:16:40
Speaker
Oh, I love that.
00:16:44
Speaker
In the, ah yeah, i was I was going to read something out of the big Bible, but no, I'm done. So thank you for joining me today. i hope that you feel that God has lit your light and that if yeah that is so, and I know it is, kindly click that light button.
00:17:02
Speaker
It looks like a thumbs up. It looks like a heart, but really it's a light. And together let's let our light shine for Jesus. Let's draw people to him.
00:17:12
Speaker
Let's be that light of the world, spreading the word about reading God's word as we are together in one. I hope you have a fantastic day today, and I will be here for everyone again tomorrow.
