We will also read a very personal message to Jesus from God, written over 700 years before Jesus would ever read it! Today God will tell us many things: He is the ONE and ONLY God who exists, He created us to show how great He is, He loves us, we are special to Him, He named us, He alone will save us from our sins, and WE are to be His witnesses regarding these things! In our discussion for daily application we will talk about what being a witness means, what a witness does, and why it is so important for us to share our experiences of what God has done for us and through us with others.

Introduction and Session Overview

00:00:03
Speaker
Hello, everybody. it is Friday, June 6th, 2025, and you are here with Robin at In the Family Way Coaching. We are here for our daily Bible reading as we go through the Day by Day Kids Bible, written by Karen Henley.
00:00:19
Speaker
Thank you so much for joining me today. This is a late night posting. It is 9.20 my time, p.m. I had a super early day to- today. I had a shift at 6.30 this morning, and I was just a little bit late today, not much, but I was up since 3.30 this morning, so it was just ah too early for me to try to get out the video today.
00:00:43
Speaker
And then I had dinner, and then I was tired. I just needed to get some laundry going, and and then read again and see what it is God wanted me to say. So here I am.
00:00:55
Speaker
And being that it's Friday, and I'm just, I needed some extra time today. yeah I've had a lot of late recordings lately, haven't I? It's been, it's been ah very busy for me over here.
00:01:09
Speaker
But thank you for joining me, whether you are following along on that podcast or whether you are watching from video somewhere. I hope that you are having a fantastic day, whatever day you are able to get to this day's reading.

Understanding Isaiah's Prophecies

00:01:24
Speaker
If you are following along on that commitment calendar, go ahead and get that out in your sticker or however you mark it off, because guess what? Yep, you're about to hear the Bible today.
00:01:39
Speaker
We have some beautiful reading today. It's all in the book of Isaiah. And by now we are very familiar with the fact that the book of Isaiah is prophecy, a lot of it.
00:01:51
Speaker
And it is ah dealing with Jesus today, as well as God saving us from our sins. So let's get started. We have some beautiful reading today to hear about God writing to Jesus.
00:02:09
Speaker
I love today's reading because it is it's like a ah one of those where you write a letter to your future self type readings.
00:02:21
Speaker
you But when God wrote this and gave the message to Isaiah, It was like 700 years before Jesus was going to come.
00:02:33
Speaker
And then when he was old enough and he was reading the scriptures, he was reading the message that God was giving him. Isn't that amazing? It's like thes comparable to the fact that we we read the scriptures and we've been reading this year and we've been seeing daily application by seeing ourselves in the people that we encounter in the stories.
00:02:59
Speaker
But today, today's section was written to Jesus. And it's just wonderful because can you imagine as he was young and and he was now in his human form, he came to us as a as a child, so as a baby.
00:03:17
Speaker
And so he he grew up and and he would have God's spirit on him, but he still read the word and he was reading this message to himself.
00:03:29
Speaker
And I just think that that's amazing. God thought of everything. He thinks of everything. And I love how he provides for us. He even provided for Jesus. And we're going to read that today, that he's going to tell Jesus that he will take care of him.
00:03:45
Speaker
So here we go.

Exploring Isaiah 42: God's Servant and Justice

00:03:48
Speaker
We are going to be reading Isaiah chapter 42 in our first section, and it's entitled God's Servant.
00:03:59
Speaker
Here's my servant. I keep him strong. Here's the one I chose. I'm happy with him. I will put my spirit upon him.
00:04:12
Speaker
He will be fair to all nations. He won't shout. He won't talk loudly in the streets. He won't get rid of people who are hurt.
00:04:24
Speaker
He won't get rid of people who are not strong. He will keep his promises. He will be fair. He won't get tired or give up.
00:04:37
Speaker
He will bring what's right and fair to the earth. People everywhere will trust in him.
00:04:47
Speaker
Here is what God says. i am the Lord. I called you to do what's right. I'll hold your hand.
00:04:58
Speaker
I'll take care of you. Through you, I'll keep my special promise to the Jewish people. You will also be a light for all people who are not Jewish.
00:05:13
Speaker
You will open eyes that cannot see. You will free people who are in jail. You will bring people out of the dark. I am the Lord, that is my name.
00:05:26
Speaker
I won't give my greatness to anyone else. Praise belongs to me. I won't let it go to idols. See, i am telling you about new things.
00:05:39
Speaker
I am telling you before they will happen.
00:05:45
Speaker
Sing new song to God. Sing praise to him from every part of the world. Sing, people who go to the sea. Sing, people of the islands.
00:05:58
Speaker
Let the desert sing out loud. Let the towns be glad. Let the people sing with joy. Let them shout from the tops of mountains.
00:06:10
Speaker
Let them tell how great God is. Let them cheer for him from the islands. God will march out like a strong man. He will work like a fighter.
00:06:23
Speaker
He will shout for the fight and he will win over his enemies.
00:06:30
Speaker
Isaiah chapter 43, verses through through Erased Sins.

Redemption and Idolatry in Isaiah 43-44

00:06:36
Speaker
and fifteen this is entitled erased sins
00:06:43
Speaker
Here is what God says. Don't be afraid. I'm buying you back. I named you. You are mine.
00:06:54
Speaker
i will be with you when you go through water. It won't rush over you. i will be with you when you go through fire. You won't be burned.
00:07:05
Speaker
That's because I'm the Lord. i am your God. i am the Holy One. I have saved you. You are special to me.
00:07:18
Speaker
I love you. Don't be afraid. i am with you. i will bring your children back. I will bring them back from every part of the world.
00:07:30
Speaker
Bring all my people. I made them. I made them to show how great I am. No God was made before me.
00:07:42
Speaker
There will never be one after me. I am God. Yes, I am. There is no other one who can save you.
00:07:57
Speaker
I showed you this. I saved you. I told you. It was me. It was not a strange God with you.
00:08:08
Speaker
You have seen it, says the Lord. You have seen that I am God. I am the one from long, long ago. i am the one who erases your sins.
00:08:21
Speaker
Then i don't remember them anymore.
00:08:27
Speaker
Chapter 44 in Isaiah, verses 6 and 9 through 28. This is entitled, Idols.
00:08:39
Speaker
I, the Lord, say this. I am the first. I am the last. There is no other God but me.
00:08:51
Speaker
People who make idols are nothing. The things they think are great really aren't good for anything. They make idols to be their gods, but the idols don't do them any good.
00:09:06
Speaker
People who make idols are just people. and they'll end up looking like fools. The man who works with metal gets his tools. He works over the hot coals.
00:09:19
Speaker
He hammers out an idol, but he gets hungry and tired. The man who works with wood marks a line. Then he cuts the wood there.
00:09:30
Speaker
He makes it so it can sit in a worship place. The man cuts down trees and people make a warm fire and cook with half of the wood.
00:09:42
Speaker
And they make an idol out of the rest. They bow down and pray to it. They say, you're my God, save me. But they don't understand.
00:09:57
Speaker
The people are not wise. They don't stop to say, used part of the wood for baking. Should I make a hateful thing from the rest?
00:10:10
Speaker
Should I bow down to a wooden block? The people cannot save themselves. They don't know how to say, isn't this wooden idol a lie?
00:10:25
Speaker
Remember this, my people, said God. I made you and I won't forget you. I blew your sins away like a cloud.
00:10:39
Speaker
Come back to me because I have saved you. You sky,
00:10:47
Speaker
sing with joy because God did this. You earth, shout out loud. You mountains, start singing. You forests and trees, sing.
00:11:00
Speaker
God has saved his people. He shows how great and strong he is. God says, Jerusalem will have people living in it again.
00:11:13
Speaker
Judah's towns will be built back up. King Cyrus will do what I want. He will say that Jerusalem can be built back up. He will say to build the worship house again.
00:11:31
Speaker
And that's the end of our reading today.

Reflecting on God's Greatness

00:11:36
Speaker
Wasn't today's reading fantastic? Oh my gosh. I really enjoyed it. I spent a lot of extra time reading through the Big Bible because I like to know those little details.
00:11:51
Speaker
There are so many of them, but this gives us such a good big picture view. I'm going to read some of it from the big Bible though, so you can see some of it.
00:12:03
Speaker
So we're going to go back to the beginning where we talk about Jesus being sent. What do you think? Wasn't that beautiful? Did you love the way God spoke directly to him?
00:12:19
Speaker
He says to Jesus, I am the Lord. I called you to do what's right. I will hold your hand.
00:12:31
Speaker
I will take care of you. Through you, i will keep my special promise to my Jewish people. And you will also be a light for all people who are not Jewish.
00:12:45
Speaker
You will open eyes that can't see. you will free people who are in jail. You will bring people out of the dark. I am the Lord.
00:12:58
Speaker
That's my name. I won't give my greatness to anyone else.
00:13:05
Speaker
I love that. That last part actually wasn't specifically to Jesus. I kept reading there.
00:13:12
Speaker
Isn't that wonderful that God was taking special care of Jesus while he was here?
00:13:20
Speaker
We want to notice about Jesus that he will bring what is right and fair to the earth. So when Jesus came the first time, it was to save everybody.
00:13:36
Speaker
And when he comes again, it will be to judge the earth. So that will be judgment that he will be bringing. He will bring what is right and fair to the earth.
00:13:49
Speaker
And people everywhere will trust in him. love that. So our daily application today that God saves us.
00:14:02
Speaker
He saved us from our sins. He says right here, In Isaiah 43, don't be afraid. I'm buying you back.
00:14:14
Speaker
he That means he redeemed us. That's what redeeming means. He paid for us. Jesus paid for us with his sin with his blood for our sins. God said, i named you.
00:14:27
Speaker
You are mine. You belong to God. You are a child of God. He says that he will be with us.
00:14:40
Speaker
And I have saved you. He says, you are special to me. i love you. He says several times in here, don't be afraid.
00:14:51
Speaker
i am with you. And Jesus told us while he was here, he says, and I will never leave you ever. Even to the end of the age, I am with you always.
00:15:08
Speaker
Jesus is always with us. How long has he been here? The whole time. He loved you and knew you before you were even born.
00:15:21
Speaker
Isn't that amazing?
00:15:24
Speaker
God says, bring all my people. I made them. Why did he make us? Tells us right here. I made them to show how great I am.
00:15:39
Speaker
God made us to show how great he is. Isn't he fantastic? Isn't he great? And he makes sure that we are very much aware that there is no other God besides him.
00:15:54
Speaker
He tells us over and over, he is the only God. There is nobody else who saves us. It is just him.
00:16:07
Speaker
I love that. Now here's something very important for as part of our daily application.

Personal Testimonies and Witnessing

00:16:13
Speaker
Are you ready?
00:16:16
Speaker
We are called to be God's witnesses. We are to tell people about this. And this is where he tells us that we are his witnesses.
00:16:27
Speaker
Did you see it? Did you hear it earlier? He said it twice. He said, there is no other one who can save you.
00:16:39
Speaker
I showed you this. I saved you. I told you it was me. It was not a strange God with you. You have seen it, says the Lord.
00:16:53
Speaker
You have seen that I am God. i am the one from long, long ago.
00:17:02
Speaker
we are called to be God's witnesses. So a witness is someone who experiences things and then tells about them. When we experience things with God, when God does amazing things and we experience things with him, when he, for instance, anything like when I tell you about my washing machine and how God provided for that and how he made it clear that this was the one that he wanted me to have.
00:17:29
Speaker
And when we go through difficult times, we read about these things in the Bible because they were written down. People were witnessing.
00:17:40
Speaker
They saw these things. And our our new covenant with the the testaments of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, they those are accounts because they were witnessing things.
00:17:56
Speaker
And they wrote it down so we would know them. So they were telling us so that we could know. We are to tell people. It doesn't do you any good just to see it.
00:18:08
Speaker
A witness not only sees something, but tells others about it. So when God changes you, when when you start to learn how to do things differently, that's called transformation and renewing of our mind.
00:18:25
Speaker
And we are told in the new covenant that that's what God does is he transforms our thinking so that we will not be conformed to the ways of this world, but that we will be doing things his way.
00:18:40
Speaker
And guess what? In first Corinthians, Paul tells us we have the mind of Christ. We have the mind of Messiah.
00:18:52
Speaker
That's Jesus. So he's he's right there with us. He never leaves us. We are never alone. And we are witnesses to this.
00:19:02
Speaker
So as you experience transformation in your own life, you tell others about what God did for you. And that's being a witness.
00:19:14
Speaker
God doesn't want us to be silent about it. You may have heard me joke in the past. It's been a while since I've joked about it. But it's true. But it's funny. And I say that if God wanted to keep something a secret, he surely wouldn't tell me.
00:19:31
Speaker
Because I love to tell things about God. I asked God a long time ago. said, God, I want you to show me amazing things so that I can tell other people about it and bring you glory for it.
00:19:46
Speaker
And that's exactly what God does. He brings me through amazing things. He lets me see amazing things like losing my necklace and telling me he's going to bring it back so that I could tell you guys about it.

Guidance and Daily Life Stories

00:20:00
Speaker
he He brings me these things like the washer and it was so awesome the way he did that because I i wasn't sure which one to get and i was I was confused and I was trying to get the right one.
00:20:15
Speaker
And like I said, I wanted him to pick it out. I didn't want to pick it out. I wanted God to pick it out the same way that he picked out my wedding ring and the same way he picked out my ah my wedding dress.
00:20:28
Speaker
I said, God, you know the right one for us. Please pick it out for me and show me which one you want us to have. And it turns out that the color of it is a dark blue.
00:20:40
Speaker
And I had been looking at another one that was also blue, but it was a light blue. And it was smaller than the machine we have now. and i i was But it had a lot, a lot, a lot of good reviews.
00:20:52
Speaker
But a lot of the reviews seemed to be written, ah where they said, as part of a sweepstakes. Like they were incentivized. like And some of them were not favorable, but it just seemed like there were a lot of favorable reviews that said that it was written in kind in connection with the sweepstakes, a contest.
00:21:13
Speaker
Like they were entering to win something. And they may have thought that if they wrote something favorable, that it would increase their likelihood of winning whatever it was that was part of the sweepstakes. I have no idea. I've never seen it.
00:21:25
Speaker
And I haven't seen any reference to any contest of any sorts about leaving a review. But one person made the comment, be careful, you know, because I didn't have good luck with this machine.
00:21:37
Speaker
And pay attention to all of the reviews that are incentivized as part of um of of like a giveaway type of a thing. So I i do, we we used to have this thing where the priests had something called like the umim and thumim.
00:21:56
Speaker
I'm not exactly sure how to pronounce it, but they were stones that the priests would carry. And one said yes, and one said no. And they ah also used to do things called casting lots, which is like rolling a dice so to see what God wants us to do.
00:22:11
Speaker
And so they did that with Jonah. Remember we read about that? that the people wanted to know who it was that was at fault for what was going on. And it pointed to Jonah and it was Jonah.
00:22:22
Speaker
And this is a way for people to determine ah what God's will was, is that to ask him a question and let him answer it. So I do that. For instance, like when I told you guys about the the the flea medicine that I received incorrectly in the mail,
00:22:38
Speaker
for Julie. And I wanted to give it to her, but I didn't want it to be stealing. So i I asked the people on the phone if if ah they wanted me to return it and they said no.
00:22:49
Speaker
And ah they said I could donate it. And ah they said I could take it back to the store or I could choose to donate it, which was kind of a different answer. So I've never had anybody make it to say that like a choice like that.
00:23:02
Speaker
So I asked God and I do this by flipping a coin. It might sound silly, but I flip a coin. And so I flipped this coin three times and it came up for yes.
00:23:17
Speaker
for For me, I was okay to give it to Julie. And then when I did, you guys told me that you had just prayed for the flea medicine. You said, God, please send us some flea medicine for the dogs.
00:23:29
Speaker
And then God did. So it's not... ah it's not foolish so i did the same thing with the washer And I said, I reviews being incentivized potentially?
00:23:45
Speaker
And it was yes. And I said, well, should I be concerned about all of these reviews being incentivized potentially? And it was yes.
00:23:56
Speaker
And I said, well, I'm confused because I mean, it sounds like I'm asking confusing questions anyways. and Should I get the blue one? And then should I be concerned? I just, I felt like it was really weighing heavily that I should be concerned, but I couldn't figure out which other one to get. So, so I started looking in some more um,
00:24:17
Speaker
um And it turned out that when I found, so I ended up going to do a search for like a consumer reports as to who had the best machines.
00:24:28
Speaker
And it was came down to Whirlpool and GE. And I looked at the Whirlpool ones and they did not have ah a light. They didn't have some of the features I was looking for. And so I asked God ah between that one and the GE one. And I said, do you want me to get the Whirlpool one?
00:24:44
Speaker
And he said, no. It came up tails and I said, do you want me to get the GE one? And he said, yes. And it was blue.
00:24:56
Speaker
So my first original question was, do you want me to get the blue one? And it was, yes. Well, it wasn't that blue one. It was a different blue one.
00:25:07
Speaker
So I just love that. And so God picked that one out. And then he even provided that particular one. He led me to look for open box.
00:25:19
Speaker
and And then he led me to one at the C&T Lowe's where they had an open box. and And I got it at a discount. And we picked it up and then he helped us get it out.
00:25:33
Speaker
And my neighbor helped me. And it was just, to me, it was just the most amazing God story because he was taking care of me. He knew what we needed. I told him, I prayed, I said, Lord, you know what we need.
00:25:44
Speaker
i i There's just no way I can do anything with this machine. It's not extracting. not taking the water out. God even cared about that. And it was just so wonderful.
00:25:55
Speaker
So if I don't tell you that, if I don't tell you about my experience and I keep it to myself, I'm not being a witness. So it's very important that we tell people about how God saves us, about the things that he does for us, that while he grows us,
00:26:17
Speaker
about amazing things that he does with us because he says you have seen it. And that's how we share our faith with people is that we tell them what happened for us, what God did for us.
00:26:34
Speaker
And we are witnesses to that because he did save us. We were slaves to sin and now we are not. And you can tell people about all the ways that God has benefited you.
00:26:48
Speaker
When you go through difficult times like Hezekiah and Hezekiah said, it was for my benefit that you took me through trouble. Tell people about that. Share what God did and what he taught you and what he showed you through that thing that was troublesome.
00:27:06
Speaker
It wasn't fun losing my washer. It was rather a pain. ah But he took me through that for my benefit because he was getting me a new washer. it was And it's lovely.
00:27:19
Speaker
And I sat down for an hour in front of it watching it tumble before making my recording um because it's a front-loading machine.
00:27:35
Speaker
Watching it drain and spin and rinse and drain and wash and spin. watching the lights go, turning the light. I wanted a light. So I'm turning the light back on and then it eventually turns off. I'm like, oh no, i want to put it back on.
00:27:47
Speaker
And I'm sitting right there in front of it, reading my Bible.
00:27:52
Speaker
So I told you I was going to read from the big Bible too. And this is the part where he talks about being a witness.
00:28:01
Speaker
This is Isaiah chapter 43, verse 10. verse ten You are my witnesses. It is a declaration of the Lord and my servant whom I have chosen so that you may know and believe me.
00:28:17
Speaker
It's not just for nothing that he wants us to tell people. It's so that people may know and believe him. So this is an important task that he has given us to do.
00:28:30
Speaker
And understand that I am he. Before me, no God was formed and there will be none after me. And then he says, I am the Lord and there is no savior beside me.
00:28:45
Speaker
i alone declared, saved and proclaimed and not some foreign God among you. So you are my witnesses.
00:28:56
Speaker
It is a declaration of the Lord. And I am God. So he says that multiple times. So this is important. This isn't just something that he would like for us to do.
00:29:10
Speaker
It is a declaration from God. We are to be witnesses. He says it twice. You are my witnesses.

Concluding Call to Witness God's Work

00:29:21
Speaker
It is a declaration of the Lord and my servant whom I have chosen so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he.
00:29:32
Speaker
Before me, no God was formed and there will be none after me. i i am the lord he says it twice i i am the lord and there is no saviour besides me i alone declared saved and proclaimed and not some foreign god among you So you are my witnesses.
00:29:57
Speaker
It is a declaration of the Lord, and I am God. From eternity I am He. None can deliver my hand from my hand.
00:30:08
Speaker
I act, and who can reverse it?
00:30:13
Speaker
Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
00:30:21
Speaker
So I wanted to share that as part of our daily application, that it is extremely important. He says it is a declaration. So I pray that you are feeling God's spirit and fire within you and his joy, and that you feel yeah motivated to go out and be a witness to God for what he has done for you, what you have seen.
00:30:48
Speaker
Let's spread the word about reading his word so that other people will know. That comes to us from Isaiah chapter 43, verses 10 through the Lord.
00:31:01
