If you would like to download my FREE calendar for keeping track of your  commitment to read the Bible every day, you can find that on my site,  here:     https://www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com/pages/read-the-bible-in-1-year

Monthly memberships to support this event can be purchased on my site,   here: https://www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com/offering_packages

Today's reading will cover 2 Kings Chapter 20:12-20, 2 Chronicles Chapter 32:27-33, Isaiah Chapters 40 and 41:8-16. Today we will read about the end of Hezekiah's reign as king of Judah and how he showed all of his riches to Babylon. We will read Isaiah tell Hezekiah that Babylon will one day take all of Judah's riches and some of Hezekiah's family. Most importantly, we will be reading and learning about who God is today! God delights in us knowing who He is. Just like we enjoy someone knowing who WE are and doing something for us just the way we like it or bringing food the way we like it prepared, God delights in us knowing who He is and doing things the way HE likes them to be done! Today we will learn that God's Word will last forever. He is not like people, who are as temporary as grass or flowers. God (and Jesus!) are like a shepherd taking care of his sheep. Jesus himself told us that HE is that good shepherd! He holds little lambs in his arms and carefully leads mothers who have children (sheep who have babies.) God is CAREFUL with us. There is no other like God! Who taught Him to be who He is? No one. No one will ever know just HOW MUCH He understands! God never gets tired. He never sleeps or takes naps or misses anything that happens. He knows everything that happens. He sees everything, even YOU, right here reading this description. God holds our right hand and tells us not be scared; He will help us Himself. He will save us. He is our Holy One. And guess what? YOU will have His joy! His great power will shine in YOU with His Holy Spirit!

Introduction and Purpose

00:00:03
Speaker
Hello everybody! Today is June 5th, 2025 and you are here with Robin at In The Family Way Coaching. We're here for our daily Bible reading.
00:00:14
Speaker
We are using the Day by Day Kids Bible. This is a fantastic version of the Bible. It's been written by Karen Henley. If you are just finding this event, then I want to encourage you, don't be discouraged by the fact that it says it's a kid's Bible.
00:00:29
Speaker
That just means that it's written in a language that is easy for us to understand. This does not mean that the Bible has been dumbed down or that it's just tiny little snippets.

Reading Approach and Application

00:00:39
Speaker
This is a great version of the whole big story from Genesis to Revelation.
00:00:44
Speaker
And it's really great because it's been written in chronological order. That means that it's been written in time order. So we get to see the big story in order. And this is important because this really helps us to understand what it is we're seeing in context.
00:01:02
Speaker
And it gives us ah a way to understand everything that we're reading because it's written at a level that we can understand without being full of all of the details.
00:01:13
Speaker
It's always a good idea that if you're hungry for more of God's word to head up your big Bible, but for understanding the big story of what God is doing in the world, This is a great version of the Bible.
00:01:25
Speaker
And every single day we are talking about how it has daily application in all of our lives. And today, ah promise you won't be disappointed. We are going to be learning about who God is today.
00:01:39
Speaker
And if you've been around for a while, then you know that God has specifically told us that he delights in us knowing who he is. Let's delight God today, everybody, and learn more about who God is.
00:01:54
Speaker
So if you are following along on that commitment calendar, go ahead and take that out and get that sticker ready or however you're marking it off, because you are definitely about to hear the Bible today.
00:02:09
Speaker
I am so excited. I'm having a wonderful day.

Personal Story and Trust in God

00:02:13
Speaker
i want to share, first of all, that I was talking yesterday about my washer machine and trusting God with everything.
00:02:22
Speaker
And God is so amazing. Not that everybody cares specifically about me and my washing machine, but it's not about me. It's about God and the fact that he is so awesome.
00:02:34
Speaker
I had asked God about the washing machine because um it wasn't draining or it wasn't ah spinning properly to extract water. So my clothes would come out sopping wet and it had been getting progressively worse with things for a while.
00:02:52
Speaker
And i'm I'm not going to get rid of something until it absolutely is completely pretty much useless. And I had looked into parts and I wasn't going to be able to get any parts for it. we We're at that point where we've been living here and had our appliances for about that 10 year mark, 11 year mark.
00:03:08
Speaker
And that's about when things tend to go is about 10 years. So ah let's keep our fingers crossed I don't have to talk to you about a dryer soon because that's you and's pretty much the only thing I got left.
00:03:21
Speaker
But yesterday, ah God put it on my heart. i was I'm always looking for that cheaper deal, like an open box item, like a scratch indent or something somebody returned to the store because they just decided it they didn't like it for them.
00:03:34
Speaker
And so I had found one at a store called Best Buy online, but I wasn't able to finance it in the way in the method of payment that I have available.
00:03:46
Speaker
So I was like, okay, well, I would love to find an open box item like at Lowe's because that's where I do a lot of my purchasing because they have like 12 months interest-free. And I'm always looking to do things as cheaply as possible so that at least gets me payments without having to pay interest.
00:04:02
Speaker
So ah I had called three stores and nobody was having any open box items. And God, I decided, God told me to ask the person on the line to check stock if to see if that was something that they could see on their end of the computer.
00:04:23
Speaker
And I had already had in mind, I needed, I was gonna call this next store, but I had that in mind before I even called this particular store, this this location. And ah they said that they could see potentially where that there was a and another, a an additional unit in stock where it would show that if that second one would potentially be return, an open box.
00:04:50
Speaker
So they found one and it wasn't that far from my house and and was gonna be that next one that I called. And so when I called them, I said, hey, another store says that you may have this in and stock as maybe a return.
00:05:04
Speaker
And first they said, no, we don't have any open box items. And then they said, oh, I know what you're talking about. As a matter of fact, somebody did return a washer ah with a dryer because they had problems with the dryer, but they decided to return the entire set. And I don't think there's anything wrong with the washer itself.
00:05:21
Speaker
They just didn't want it because they didn't keep the dryer. So I oh, that's awesome. So they called me back. They confirmed. They marked it down. So it was now $100 cheaper.
00:05:33
Speaker
And they don't do delivery. So I was forced to ah save money.
00:05:39
Speaker
God brought me trouble for my own benefit, as we read yesterday. And I was able to pick it up at the store. They helped me load it. And so presently, I have now a 250-pound washer in my back of my truck that God is going to show us today how we're
00:05:55
Speaker
My internet cut out right there. So we now have a 250 pound washer in the back of the truck that God is gonna show us today how we're gonna get it out of there.
00:06:04
Speaker
So I have a, that's my great praise report. So I'm just so thankful to God for doing that. So let's open up our Bibles today, our day by day kids

Biblical Readings and Reflections

00:06:15
Speaker
Bible. Today, we are going to be reading our final bit about King Hezekiah. We're going to see the end of his reign.
00:06:23
Speaker
And we are also going to be reading in Isaiah chapters 40 and a little bit of 41, where we are going to be reading prophecy about John the Baptist coming.
00:06:35
Speaker
And we will also be learning ah about Jesus. We're going to be seeing description of Jesus. And we're going to be seeing who God is. God's going to tell us about who he is. Now, this is rather important because not only because we mentioned earlier that God delights in us knowing who he is, but think about yourself for a moment and think about when somebody knows what you like.
00:07:05
Speaker
and they get you something like a gift or they do something in such a way that they know it's just how you like it. Doesn't that feel good?
00:07:17
Speaker
It's like going to a restaurant and telling them how you like to have your eggs cooked or however you like to have your steak cooked or something else that you might like in a certain way.
00:07:27
Speaker
And what if they decided that then when they brought it out that the cook said, Nah, I don't really think you want it that way. you Trust me, you're gonna like it this way.
00:07:39
Speaker
But that's not the way that you like it. You liked it the way that you told them you would like to have it done. How do you feel? It's disappointing, isn't it?
00:07:50
Speaker
You know how you liked it. You told them. You communicated. You used your words. And yet, despite that fact, they brought you what they thought you might like instead.
00:08:02
Speaker
They did it their way. Well, that's exactly how we do things sometimes, too. We do things our way and we say, oh, God will like this. But we need to see who God is and understand who he is so that we can understand what he likes and how, so that we stop serving him whatever we think he might like and give him things the way he likes them to be done.
00:08:29
Speaker
And we've been reading a lot this year about making God the most important one and the things that God likes and how he likes it. And I put out a video about Shavuot and Shavuot is really a great deal about doing things the way God wants them to be done. That video.
00:08:47
Speaker
Because as a Christian religion, we have stepped away from our Jewish roots and we have changed things away from how God has told us he likes it to be done.
00:09:03
Speaker
And I refer specifically to things like our Sabbath day being on a Sunday, which we have changed to be on that day rather than the Saturday that God gave us.
00:09:14
Speaker
And the Christian church has decided to set up things like Easter, which it commemorates Jesus' rising ah from the dead. But we already have a day for that, and it's called bickering.
00:09:28
Speaker
It's the feast of first fruits, because Jesus is the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. He is the first one to rise from the dead. And so we have done all of these things, setting them up, going, oh, we're going to honor God with these things.
00:09:43
Speaker
But really, God has already told us what he wants, how he likes things to be done. And we're doing it our way instead of his way. So let's learn about who God is today a little bit and delight him.
00:10:02
Speaker
We're going to start off in 2 Kings 20, verses 12-20, and 2 Chronicles 32, verses 27-33. this is entitled, Riches. King Hezekiah was very rich. People treated him like was very important person.
00:10:13
Speaker
and this is entitled riches
00:10:18
Speaker
hezekiah was very rich people treated him like he was a very important person he built palaces to keep his He built places to keep his silver and gold and riches.
00:10:32
Speaker
He built places to keep his spices and shields. He built houses for storing grain and wine and oil. He made pens for cows and sheep.
00:10:45
Speaker
He built some towns too. Everything he did went well. Now the king of Babylon sent men to see Hezekiah, and they took letters and a gift.
00:10:59
Speaker
They had heard that Hezekiah had been sick. Hezekiah showed the men everything in his storehouses. He showed them his silver and gold.
00:11:10
Speaker
He showed them his spices and oil. He showed them his shields and all his riches. There wasn't anything he didn't show them.
00:11:23
Speaker
Then Isaiah went to King Hezekiah and he said, where did those men come from? What did they say? Oh, they came from a far away land, said Hezekiah.
00:11:35
Speaker
It's called Babylon. What did they see? Asked Isaiah. Everything, said Hezekiah. I showed them all my riches.
00:11:49
Speaker
Someday Babylon will take away all those riches, said Isaiah. God says they won't leave a thing. They'll even take some people from your family.
00:12:02
Speaker
Your family will serve the king of Babylon. Whatever God says is good, said Hezekiah. And he thought to himself, at least there will be peace while I'm alive.
00:12:17
Speaker
While Hezekiah was king, he made a pool and a tunnel. And the pool and tunnel helped bring water to Jerusalem. And sometime later, Hezekiah died.
00:12:29
Speaker
All the people of Judah said good things about him.

God's Nature and Teachings

00:12:35
Speaker
Isaiah chapter 40, a voice in the desert.
00:12:42
Speaker
Make my people feel better, says God. Tell them that their hard times are over. Tell them that they have paid for their sin. There's a voice calling.
00:12:55
Speaker
Make the way ready for the Lord. Make it ready in the desert. Make a flat road for God. The valleys will get higher and the hills will get lower.
00:13:06
Speaker
The bumpy ground will get smooth. God will show how great he is, and everybody in the world will see it. A voice says, people are like grass.
00:13:21
Speaker
Grass dries up and dies. People are like that. People may seem special for a while, but they're like flowers that grow in a field. Grass dies, and flowers fall, but God's word is not like that.
00:13:39
Speaker
It will last forever.
00:13:43
Speaker
God is like a shepherd taking care of his sheep. He holds the little lambs in his arms and he carefully leads the sheep that have babies.
00:13:58
Speaker
Who measured the water in his hand? Who planned where to put the sky? Who held earth's dust in a basket? Who weighed the mountains and hills?
00:14:12
Speaker
Who knows what is in God's mind? Whoever told him what he should do? Who is like God? Is he like an idol?
00:14:25
Speaker
a poor man picks a piece of wood that is good, and then he looks for somebody to make an idol for him.
00:14:34
Speaker
Someone puts gold all over it. Don't you know? God sits on the king's throne above the earth's circle.
00:14:45
Speaker
The people are as small as grasshoppers to him. He rolls the sky out like a tent. Who is like me? says God.
00:14:57
Speaker
Look up at the sky. Who made it all? God did. He brings out each star one by one. And he calls each star by its name.
00:15:11
Speaker
Not a star is missing because of God's great power. My people, why do you say that God doesn't see you?
00:15:22
Speaker
Why do you say that he doesn't care? Don't you know? God lasts forever. He made every bit of the earth.
00:15:35
Speaker
He won't get tired. No one will ever know how much he understands. Even young people get tired.
00:15:47
Speaker
Even you, Jedi, with as much energy and you, Forrest, as much energy as you boys have, you still get tired. Even young people have trouble. But God makes people strong again if they trust him.
00:16:03
Speaker
They will be like eagles. Eagles fly high with strong wings. God helps people run and not get tired. He helps them walk and not get worn out.
00:16:20
Speaker
Isaiah chapter 41, verses 8 through 16. Don't give up. Israel, you are my servant. I chose you.
00:16:33
Speaker
So don't be afraid. I am with you.
00:16:40
Speaker
Don't feel so helpless that you give up. I am your God. I will make you strong. I will help you. I will keep you strong with my right hand.
00:16:53
Speaker
Everybody who gets angry at you will feel no good. People who turn against you will die. i am the Lord. I am your God.
00:17:06
Speaker
I tell you not to be scared, my little people. I will help you myself, says God. I will save you.
00:17:17
Speaker
I am your Holy One. You will have my joy. My great power will shine in you.
00:17:28
Speaker
And that's the end of our reading today.
00:17:32
Speaker
God is so wonderful. He is like nothing else ever. There is nothing or any anyone like him Nobody knows just how great he understands everything.
00:17:49
Speaker
His understanding of how every single little thing works is just unique. God is absolutely unique. There is none like him.
00:18:01
Speaker
There will never be another one like him. He is our great I am. Nothing else could describe him for a name other than to say he is. is He is.
00:18:15
Speaker
He was and he always will be. he is the beginning and the end. He will always be here, even after we are gone. It says that people are like grass or a flower who die in their time.
00:18:33
Speaker
But God's word is not like that. God's word will last forever. And it's not just speaking about the Bible. God's Bible will last forever.
00:18:45
Speaker
But God's word and who else is the word? Jesus is the word. John 1 1 tells us in the beginning was the word.
00:18:57
Speaker
In the beginning. And the word was with God and the word was God. His word is Jesus.
00:19:09
Speaker
And he was always with God from the beginning.
00:19:15
Speaker
God is like a shepherd taking care of his sheep. God takes care of us better than any mommy or daddy ever could. We do a good job us mommies and daddies, but God is even better.
00:19:31
Speaker
it says he holds us next to his heart and he carefully, God is careful. He carefully leads the sheep that has babies.
00:19:44
Speaker
Mamas who have babies, God leads you tenderly, carefully. God is careful with us.
00:19:55
Speaker
Who is like God? Look up at that sky, who made it all? God did. Who made the earth? God lasts forever and he won't ever get tired.
00:20:11
Speaker
God will never get sleepy. The Psalms tell us he neither slumbers nor sleeps. He doesn't even take a cat nap like daddy does.
00:20:24
Speaker
Dads are famous for cat naps, aren't they, if for sleeping on the couch or in a chair? But our Heavenly Father never sleeps. He never closes his eyes and blinks and misses something.
00:20:36
Speaker
He sees everything. And no one will ever know just how much he understands. It says, why do you say like God doesn't see you?
00:20:49
Speaker
Why do you think he doesn't care? God cares about everything. He understands everything. Even those things for which you'd think he can't, he does.
00:21:04
Speaker
Israel, ah Ishmael's mother, the the ah the slave that was with Abraham. I'm drawing a blank as to her name, but you know who I'm talking about.
00:21:18
Speaker
and When Sarah was trying to have a baby and she gave her her servant to abra Abraham. And when Sarah mistreated her, she ran away.
00:21:30
Speaker
And God found her in the desert and asked her, why are you running away? And she called him, you are the God who sees me.

Conclusion and Gratitude

00:21:42
Speaker
He is the God who sees us. He understands. He had told her to go back and she obeyed. He saw her.
00:21:53
Speaker
He knew everything about her.
00:21:57
Speaker
God sees us. He understands. And he will never get tired. He says, I am the Lord. i am your God. He is your God.
00:22:09
Speaker
He is my God. He is a personal God. He doesn't say just that I am a God. He says, I am your God. I hold your right hand.
00:22:23
Speaker
God is holding you by the hand. I tell you not to be scared, my little people. We are so little. It says we are like grasshoppers to God on the earth.
00:22:37
Speaker
We are so little. I will help you myself. God will be there for you himself. I will save you.
00:22:49
Speaker
I am your holy one. and you will have my joy. We will have God's joy. My great power will shine in you.
00:23:01
Speaker
God gives us his Holy Spirit to be within us. It is God's great power, and we shine with it. He shines in us.
00:23:12
Speaker
God's Spirit shines. He is joyful. God is joyful. He says, you will have my joy. God is joyful.
00:23:23
Speaker
Isn't that beautiful? God is so happy.
00:23:30
Speaker
ah he' he holds us next to his heart. I said that already, but I had to say it again. God is so beautiful and wonderful. We can't just, there are not enough words to describe him.
00:23:45
Speaker
God delights in us to know who he is.
00:23:50
Speaker
I pray that you take the time today to spend a lot of time thinking about who God is so he can delight in you. And you will be delighted too when you spend time knowing who God is.
00:24:06
Speaker
and when you come to terms with that, you too will have so much joy and you will shine with his joy. and I know that each one of you will shine with his joy today, with his great power.
00:24:22
Speaker
I hope that you feel that God has lit that light within you today. And share this event with somebody that you know so that they too will know who God is.
00:24:34
Speaker
God will delight in them too. God sees them. God sees everybody. There is nobody God doesn't see. And who knows that you are not meant to be the one that is meant to share this with them so that they too can see who God is and know him.
00:24:53
Speaker
God loved us so much that he sent his son who says he is the shepherd. He is the one who looks after us. God is Jesus. Jesus is God.
00:25:05
Speaker
And it's important that we know him. You too can know Jesus if you don't know him already. He's paid for your sins. He is our great savior.
00:25:17
Speaker
God sent him because he loves us so much that when we know him, we no longer have death, but we have eternal life with God. So thank you for joining me today, whether you are following along on that favorite podcast or whether you are watching from video.
00:25:35
Speaker
I'm so glad that you are here. I'm so glad somebody shared this event with you. And I pray that you will have God's great joy today and have a fabulous day today.
00:25:46
Speaker
And I will be here for everyone again tomorrow.
