Today's reading will cover Isaiah Chapters 50, 52:7-10, 53, and 54:1,4, 7-10, and 13. Today we will read about Jesus and some of what he would experience as he paid the price for our sins. We will read about God's promise to care for us with His kindness, which lasts forever and be encouraged to be joyful for this great gift He has given to us. We will also read about Jesus being taught by God and God's promise to personally teach us and give us great peace. In our discussion for daily application we will read John 14: 15-27. In these verses Jesus tells us that when he speaks he is speaking God's words and we also will be given the Holy Spirit to teach us and speak through us! Jesus explains that He is in the Father, the Father is in him, he is in us, and the Holy Spirit is in us. We are all one with the Father! Additionally, Jesus tells us he left us with his peace (shalom), which is exactly what God promised in today's reading, Isaiah Chapter 54:13! We will also read Matthew 10:18-20, which tells us that when we need to speak to people about God we do not need to be afraid or concerned about what to say because the Holy Spirit will speak through us! We will read 1 Corinthians 2:6-16 which is written by Paul, explaining that we have received the Spirit of God, not the spirit of the world, so only those with the Spirit of God can understand what the Spirit teaches. The world will consider the teachings of the Holy Spirit to be foolishness. We have been given the Spirit to understand the things freely given to us by God and we speak to each other about spiritual things taught to us by the spirit for other people who ALSO have God's Spirit. Paul reminds us that WE have the mind of Jesus! So what can we do with this amazing gift and relationship that we have with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit? Literally EVERYTHING! We can do ALL THINGS through Christ! NOTHING is impossible! Talk to God and ask Him what He wants you to know.  LISTEN to what the Holy Spirit teaches you and then obey! You have the mind of Jesus, who is in the Father and the Father is in Him and Jesus is in YOU! We are ONE WITH GOD! You can do it. The Holy Spirit will teach you how.

00:01:23
Speaker
We are going to jump right in because we have such a meaty reading today. It's so good. So we're going to be reading a lot about Jesus.
00:01:36
Speaker
Most of today is written about Jesus and it we even have a section where Jesus is speaking as well.

Prophecies and Promises in Isaiah

00:01:46
Speaker
So we are going to be reading today from Isaiah chapters 50, 52, 53, and 54. You ready? fifty three and fifty four you ready Buckle up.
00:02:00
Speaker
Put your thinking hat on. We're going to learn a lot today.
00:02:05
Speaker
Chapter 50 is entitled Every Morning.
00:02:11
Speaker
I sold you because of your sins. Wasn't I strong enough to save you? Sure I was. I can dry up the sea with my words.
00:02:22
Speaker
I can turn rivers into a desert. I can make the sky dark.
00:02:30
Speaker
God taught me what to say. He told me what to say to help people feel strong. He wakes me up every morning.
00:02:41
Speaker
He wakes me up to listen. He is teaching me. i let people beat my back and pull out my beard. I let them make fun of me and spit on me.
00:02:56
Speaker
God helps me. I choose to follow him no matter what. I know he won't let me feel like nothing. He stands up for me.
00:03:08
Speaker
He is close by. People who don't trust God are like people in the dark. They should trust in God. If you are trusting in yourself, you're asking for trouble.
00:03:24
Speaker
Chapter 52, verses 7 through 10. verses seven through ten Beautiful feet.
00:03:31
Speaker
People's feet are beautiful when they bring good news. They're beautiful when they bring peace. They're beautiful when they say, you'll be saved. They're beautiful when they say, your God is king.
00:03:48
Speaker
Listen, the people who watch say it out loud. They shout together with joy. God will come back to his city.
00:04:00
Speaker
They will see it happen. Sing together, you broken down walls of Jerusalem. God has cheered up his people. He will show all the nations.
00:04:13
Speaker
The whole world will see how God saves.
00:04:20
Speaker
Chapter 53 Like a new green plant
00:04:26
Speaker
God's servant grew up with him. He was like a new green plant. He was like a stem pushing up out of the dry dirt.
00:04:38
Speaker
He wasn't beautiful. He didn't seem great. And his looks weren't anything to make us want to know him. He knew what it was like to be sad.
00:04:51
Speaker
He knew what it was like to have trouble.
00:04:55
Speaker
We didn't treat him like a great person.
00:05:00
Speaker
But we know he took our sickness. He felt our sadness. We said God hurt him. We said God gave him trouble.
00:05:13
Speaker
But he was hurt because of our sins. He was paid back for what we did wrong. That brought us peace.
00:05:25
Speaker
but he paid for it.
00:05:30
Speaker
We get well because he got hurt.
00:05:35
Speaker
We are just like sheep. We ran away here and there. All of us did what we wanted to do. God paid him back for the wrong things we did. He had hard times.
00:05:54
Speaker
People heard him, but he didn't say a word.
00:06:01
Speaker
sheep is quiet while the farmer cuts off his wool. And he was quiet too. They treated him like nothing. What they did to him was not fair.

God's Teaching through the Holy Spirit

00:06:16
Speaker
They took him away and he was killed for my people's sins. They put him in a grave as if he were a sinful person. He hadn't done anything wrong.
00:06:29
Speaker
He never lied to anybody.
00:06:33
Speaker
It was God's plan to let this happen. He took the blame. He gave his life. But he will see all who are his children.
00:06:46
Speaker
He will live a long time. He will do what God wants. His soul will get sad and hurt. But he then he will live again and he will know that it was for good.
00:07:03
Speaker
For many people, it will be just as if they had never sinned and he will take the blame for their sins. So I will say he is great.
00:07:16
Speaker
He gave his life and he died. He was counted with the people who did wrong. He stood in their place.
00:07:31
Speaker
Isaiah chapter 54 Kindness that lasts forever Sing, my people, and shout with joy, says God.
00:07:43
Speaker
Don't be afraid. No one will make fun of you. You will forget the people made fun of you before. You won't remember how bad you felt.
00:07:54
Speaker
I left you for a minute, but I will bring you back with my great love. I turned away from you in an anger, but I will care for you with my kindness.
00:08:07
Speaker
My kindness lasts forever, says God. To me, this is like the time of Noah. I promised that water would not cover the earth again.
00:08:20
Speaker
So now I promise not to be angry with you again. I will never get mad at you again. The hills might be torn down, but my love lasts forever.
00:08:34
Speaker
It won't shake. I am making a promise of peace. It won't be taken away from you. This is what God says, and he cares for you.
00:08:50
Speaker
God will teach all your children... and they will have great peace.
00:08:59
Speaker
That's the end of our reading today.
00:09:04
Speaker
There was so much about Jesus today.
00:09:10
Speaker
And we read again that God's great love will never last, will never go away. His kindness lasts forever.
00:09:19
Speaker
But our daily application today has to do with the fact that God teaches us. In the beginning, we read that God taught Jesus what to say.
00:09:33
Speaker
Jesus was listening to God. He only said what he was told to say. He had God's spirit on him. you remember we read that the other day?
00:09:47
Speaker
And because he had God's spirit, he was able to hear what God wanted him to say. The spirit told him what to say. it says, he wakes me up he ah God taught me what to say.
00:10:01
Speaker
He told me what to say to help people feel strong. He wakes me up every morning. He wakes me up to listen. He is teaching me.
00:10:15
Speaker
Sometimes God gets us up early too. Sometimes we can't sleep and it's because God says, it's time for you to spend time with me. I have things to teach you in the quiet of the morning.

Role of the Holy Spirit in Believers' Lives

00:10:29
Speaker
And God promises at the end of our reading today, says, God will teach all your children and they will have great peace.
00:10:43
Speaker
So how does God teach us?
00:10:47
Speaker
We receive his Holy Spirit.
00:10:51
Speaker
And when we receive the Holy Spirit, Jesus told us that the Holy Spirit will teach us. We will have God's Spirit within us when we become believers.
00:11:05
Speaker
And the Holy Spirit speaks to us.
00:11:10
Speaker
I'm going to read us ah some verses that tell us about this. in chapter In John chapter 14, Jesus told us about our helper.
00:11:26
Speaker
Starting in verse 15, he says, If you love me, you will keep my commandments. I will ask the Father, and he will give you another helper, so he may be with you forever.
00:11:43
Speaker
the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive because it does not know him or behold him. But you know him because he lives with you and will be in you.
00:12:00
Speaker
I will not abandon you as orphans. I will come to you.
00:12:07
Speaker
In a little while, the world will no longer behold me. But you will behold me, because I live, you also will live.
00:12:19
Speaker
In that day, you will know that I am in my Father, you are in me, and I am in you.
00:12:31
Speaker
He who has my commandments and keeps them is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my father and I will love him and reveal myself to him.
00:12:45
Speaker
So it's Jesus will be with us too. He is with us. We've read and we've been talking about that Jesus says he will never leave us. He will always be with us forever. We're going to skip down to
00:13:06
Speaker
Verse 24, it says, he who does not love me does not keep my words. And the word you hear is not mine, but the father's who sent me.
00:13:18
Speaker
remember, Jesus was taught by God because he had the spirit with him. So when we hear Jesus speaking to us,
00:13:30
Speaker
We are hearing God speak to us. When we are taught by the Spirit, it is from God.
00:13:39
Speaker
He who does not love me does not keep my words, and the word you hear is not mine but the Father's who sent me. These things I have spoken to you while living with you, but the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name,
00:13:58
Speaker
will teach you everything. The Holy Spirit will teach us everything and remind you of everything that I said to you.
00:14:09
Speaker
Peace I leave you, my peace I give to you, but not as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled or afraid.

Scriptural References for the Spirit's Role

00:14:25
Speaker
So that was when Jesus was telling us that we would be taught by the Holy Spirit. And I'm going to read another verse for us too.
00:14:46
Speaker
In Matthew and in Mark, they they tell us the same verse. the same thing. This is the the same story related.
00:15:01
Speaker
And this is in Matthew chapter 10. And
00:15:11
Speaker
and it is verse 19.
00:15:19
Speaker
Jesus is speaking to the disciples And he's telling the disciples that they will be brought before governors and kings for his sake as a testimony to them and to the people who don't know me, the Gentiles.
00:15:37
Speaker
And verse 19 says, but when they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say, for it will be given to you in that hour what you are to say, for it is not you who speak,
00:15:53
Speaker
but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you. That's the Holy Spirit.
00:16:01
Speaker
The Holy Spirit will tell us what to say when we are coming before people and need to give a testimony, when we need to explain things.
00:16:18
Speaker
And let me see here. I have one more for us.
00:16:23
Speaker
And remember, Jesus will be with us. And we have the mind of Jesus. Jesus explained to us in that ah first one we read in John chapter 14, where he says that he will be with us.
00:16:40
Speaker
He will be in us. And so we are all together. Jesus is in God. God is in him. And Jesus is in us. And the Holy Spirit is in us.
00:16:54
Speaker
So when we are
00:16:59
Speaker
looking to talk to Jesus or we're looking for him to teach us about something. And like when um I am trying to see what God wants me to use as our daily application, he makes it clear.
00:17:17
Speaker
And that is him talking to me. I don't hear a ah verbal voice, but it's in my mind as thoughts. And my thoughts are not my own. it's i don't have these ah this understanding on my own.
00:17:35
Speaker
God gives me the understanding. He does so through Jesus and the Holy Spirit that he sends. And it's really interesting because like I like this morning when I was reading and i underline and when I first read Jesus speaking, saying that God taught him, i was I was sure that that's exactly what I was going to be doing.
00:18:01
Speaker
using as our daily application today. But then I started to have doubts. I said, well, don't jump to conclusions, Robin. Read through and and see. And then at the very end, the very last sentence was that God would teach his children would teach all of us.
00:18:16
Speaker
We teach our children. We are the children. And it was, it was just, it clicked. And I was just like, oh, God knew the ending.
00:18:26
Speaker
Jesus knew the ending before I did of our reading. and And so that's what it feels like to have the mind of Jesus is that he, it's not our thoughts, but it's his thoughts.
00:18:38
Speaker
And if we are listening and then he will give us those thoughts and we can understand them and discern. And that's what he was talking about, is that is that but when we are of the Spirit, we can discern, we can understand what he is telling us.
00:18:59
Speaker
So here we go. I'm going to skip to 1 Corinthians 2. And...
00:19:06
Speaker
chapter two
00:19:09
Speaker
and
00:19:12
Speaker
Verse six, this section is entitled God's wisdom revealed by the spirit.
00:19:19
Speaker
And this is Paul speaking, I believe he says, we do however, speak a message.
00:19:28
Speaker
Let's see.
00:19:33
Speaker
I'm going to jump back to verse 4. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God's power.
00:19:51
Speaker
We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age who are coming to nothing. No, we declare God's wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began.
00:20:12
Speaker
None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written, what no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived, the things God has prepared for those who love him.
00:20:33
Speaker
These are the things God has revealed to us by His Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.
00:20:44
Speaker
For who knows a person's thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the Spirit of the world,
00:21:01
Speaker
but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. The Spirit is given to us so that we can understand what God has given us.
00:21:14
Speaker
That's him teaching us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.
00:21:30
Speaker
That's just like what I was explaining a moment ago about how God reveals to me what it is I'm supposed to talk about today with our daily application.
00:21:41
Speaker
The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, but considers them foolishness and cannot understand them because they are only understood through the Spirit.
00:21:54
Speaker
They can only be understood by those with the Spirit of God as well, so that the Spirit will then give you understanding of what you are hearing His Spirit teach from other people.
00:22:07
Speaker
The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, but considers them foolishness and cannot understand them because they are understood only through the Spirit. The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments.
00:22:26
Speaker
For who has known the mind of the Lord as so as to instruct him? And then our final line says, but we have the mind of Messiah.
00:22:41
Speaker
We have the mind of Jesus. And that is what Jesus was referring to when he said.
00:22:52
Speaker
What we read in John chapter 14, where he said,
00:23:01
Speaker
The word you hear isn't is not mine, but the Father who sent me. The helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything that I said to you and remind you of everything I said to you.
00:23:18
Speaker
Oh gosh, where is that one line?
00:23:27
Speaker
You know the Spirit, you know him because he lives with you. and will be in you. I will come to you.
00:23:38
Speaker
In that day, you will know that I am in my Father, you are in me, we are in Jesus, and I am in you. So we are all one with Jesus and God and the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit will teach us.
00:23:58
Speaker
And what the Holy Spirit is teaching us is what God is telling us. The same way he taught Jesus. So that was a very meaty daily application today, wasn't it?

Engagement with the Holy Spirit

00:24:14
Speaker
So our goal should be to ask the Holy Spirit, ask God, ask Jesus, what do you want me to know? and then listen.
00:24:25
Speaker
Listen for God's teaching. Be teachable. Be teachable. There are so many endless things that God wants us to know and to teach us so that when we learn them, we we learn more about him.
00:24:41
Speaker
We learn how to behave. We learn what to say. And when we need to, God will open up our mouths and speak the words that we are meant to speak to a certain person at any point in time.
00:24:54
Speaker
The Holy Spirit is so amazing. He is our helper. So we remember to to be actively engaged with the Holy Spirit.
00:25:06
Speaker
And remember that since you have the Spirit in you, we want to not grieve the Holy Spirit.
00:25:14
Speaker
So that's very important too. Okay. So thank you for listening today. i know that you feel God has lit your light today because that is a huge thing to know that the spirit is not only with us, but we have the mind of Jesus with us.
00:25:31
Speaker
And when we don't know what to do or say, we can stop and say, Jesus, what do you want me to do here? And then listen. I've been trying to do that more because that that just really clicked with me this week. It's really amazing.
00:25:47
Speaker
A couple of days ago, I was listening to a podcast with Jamie Winship, and he was speaking on ah a number of things, and he mentioned and and taught about that we have the mind of Jesus.
00:26:01
Speaker
And so I looked up the verse, and the Spirit just clicked it for me. it It was so meaningful. i've It's like I finally got And being that we have that, I can use that. That's not just a trivial thing.
00:26:19
Speaker
So when i am ah faced with difficult situations, like a conversation with somebody, or, you know, if I'm having difficulty with my adult daughter, i can say, and and i'm and I'm starting to deliberately to do is to say, Jesus,
00:26:40
Speaker
What is it that you want me to say right now?
00:26:44
Speaker
And then listen, because was so I tell you what, sometimes the things I wanna say are not nice. I don't know about you, but sometimes I don't feel like being very nice with my words.
00:26:56
Speaker
I'm angry, I'm upset, I'm irritated with the things that people will be saying to me in a not so nice conversation. But we are called to be ministers of reconciliation. And we have been given a spirit of peace.
00:27:09
Speaker
And Jesus said he sends us his peace, his shalom, not as the world gives, but as he gives. Peace that transcends all understanding. We read that too and in today.
00:27:23
Speaker
Peace, I leave you. My peace, my shalom, I give to you. But not as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled or afraid.
00:27:34
Speaker
So I don't have to be troubled. I can choose to actively engage and talk with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, God, and receive that back from them.
00:27:50
Speaker
And then I can make better decisions. So that's just an example. So thank you for being with me today. And I hope that you really, really enjoyed today's reading.
00:28:02
Speaker
i I loved it. I just can't get over it. it's It was just, I'm still like amazed with it. Our God is so awesome. there are There just isn't a word that is just enough to describe how ultimately extra, super, very awesomely cool he is. Wow. Wow.
00:28:24
Speaker
love you holy spirit i love you jesus i love you god thank you so much for being within us and we are brothers and sisters in christ we are all connected together because of our spirit and because of god's holy spirit with us and jesus we are all connected we are one body that is powerful isn't it so let's go out And be one body together and be unit and unified in Christ.

Final Encouragement and Sharing the Message

00:28:59
Speaker
I hope you have a fantastic rest of your day. And please remember, if I would appreciate it if you would click that light button so that we can draw people to God by encouraging them to hear this message of God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit within them.
00:29:18
Speaker
And encourage people to want to believe in Jesus and God and so that they will have God's spirit and have understanding. And just give the glory to God for all of this amazing, amazing gifts that he has given us.
00:29:36
Speaker
And that's it. Thank you. I will be here for everyone again tomorrow.
