Thank you for joining me as we learn about the connection between Passover, First Fruits, Shavuot (pronounced shav-oo-oat) and Pentecost.
We are on the 49th day of the counting of the omer!!! Shavuot is tomorrow and I am encouraging EVERYONE to take the day off from work and observe the day as God commanded- a Sabbath day. God gifts us with an extra day of rest! How gracious is our God?! I don't know about YOU, but I can sure use another day of rest this week!
Today we will read in the Book of Isaiah, Chapters 29:13-21, Chapter 30:1-7, 15-24, Chapter 33:2-6, 10, 17, 20-21, and 24, and Chapter 35. We will read about God being disappointed in the His people worshipping Him with their mouths, but not their hearts. We will read prophecy about Jesus- how people would see the beautiful King with their own eyes and how God would forgive people's sins. We will be encouraged to tell others not to be afraid, because God will save them. We will be given a glimpse into the beautiful Heaven with a road that only those saved by God will be able to travel. In our discussion for daily application we will talk about worshipping God with our hearts, rather than just with our mouths. It is important that we are following and loving God with our whole hearts, not just following man made rules and thinking that makes God happy. God tells us today to stop doing wrong. Start doing what is right. Be quiet and trust in Him. Rest. That is what will make us strong. God wants us to look forward to the day of rest He has gifted us with. He leads us by His own examples, showing us that He will provide enough for us to last on the day of rest, such as when He provided manna from heaven for six days and none on the seventh. The people were to gather enough on the sixth day to last them for the next day. On the sixth day God sent EXTRA manna to provide for them. Only on the sixth day would manna that was gathered for storing for use on the next day keep fresh and not rot. All other days any extra manna gathered would rot! God was teaching His people to trust in Him for daily provision as well as provision for the Sabbath day. It is important that we observe God's days of rest for us. Shavuot is tomorrow and it is given to us as an extra day of rest! Let's honor and respect God's gift by observing it.
