jarrod_dyke: Hey everybody, it's the Fancy Rugby Yanks. My name is Jared Dyke.

Grumpy Old Prop: I'm Ben Glauser.

jarrod_dyke: I'll tell you something about collusion. Our fucking kids have been colluding with each other. I swear to God.

Grumpy Old Prop: If it's not one of them, it's the other.

jarrod_dyke: ah So we we hope you missed us. We're we're back after a ah long hiatus and then we're taking another hiatus. But we forget we'd fill the gap in a little bit because otherwise that's really long.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

jarrod_dyke: but

Grumpy Old Prop: and And also, you know, we we kind of left You know, and like, again, I left the cliffhanger. So.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah, it was a bit of a a bit of a cliffhanger, but we're back.

Grumpy Old Prop: um Right.

jarrod_dyke: We're just, you know, we're not going to pretend that we're going to catch up on everything. So we're just going to go just keep pressing on forward and and we'll and we'll and we'll go from there. I am abstaining tonight because I have no beers and I'm not about to drink whiskey. So even though I would love to drink a glass of whiskey, but I have a I have a client at six a .m.

Grumpy Old Prop: It's my turn.

jarrod_dyke: tomorrow. So i I want to be coherent for that.

Grumpy Old Prop: hmm and just has first feeding this night so tonight so I'm yeah I've had the last two in a row so

jarrod_dyke: Oh, bless you.

jarrod_dyke: Hmm. Yeah, Okay. Make sure that you are checking out our good friend, George, the fancy rugby geek, buy him a coffee or beer for all the work he did for us this season. There is no discrimination here on this podcast or should there be in sports or in life. Um, as I said to bed, Ben, we got our pick of them. Uh, we're going to obviously keep it to relevant today. There's.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: Especially over the last month, we've had plenty to pick from. Um, but we do have, we have the same, we've been gone for a while, might as well just covered too.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right. um So the first um is we had, you know, so we started this segment um back in 2020 with the murder of George Floyd, and we felt that it was time for us to at least speak up

jarrod_dyke: Mm -hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: Um, in the, um, given the form that we had and continue to have. So, um, and, um, of course, none of nothing has really changed much. And just was it this week? Um, and Illinois, uh, police ah sheriff's deputy, um, fatally shot a woman named Sonia Massey in her home. Um, she called for help. and the police came and murdered her because they are douchebags.

Grumpy Old Prop: um And it's just, it's enough of like, I can't believe this shit is still happening and we still have to talk about it and we still have to go through it and see it and and experience it.

jarrod_dyke: Mm hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: And um obviously it's not right. this like It's one of those things where if you, explain if you describe the state of the United States in a neutral way to, you know as any other country, people will be horrified by what happens here.

jarrod_dyke: Right.

Grumpy Old Prop: and like ah along all all sorts of things. And that's, that's, you know, this is just one part, but it's main it's massive. Our police have been murdering record numbers of people each year, even after we marched against police violence and murder, even after we elected new leadership, it's only getting worse. um So with that said, um,

Grumpy Old Prop: I'm interested in seeing what happens going forward because what we have also seen this past week is that at least some leadership was willing to listen to us. And um what we had was an ineffective to harmful ah president who was supposed to be the good guy. um Obviously his his policies and his um leadership was not connecting with the people. And not only that, but then he kind of made himself look like an ass as far as he can't really communicate.

Grumpy Old Prop: He can't keep up with the world, um which is fine. He's what like 84 or something ridiculously old.

jarrod_dyke: He's pretty old.

Grumpy Old Prop: Should not be in an office. It's one of those take the keys away from grandpa. He can't really drive. He drove her to a farmer's market.

jarrod_dyke: oh I saw a news outlet say that, too.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: I was like, that's kind of what I was on. So that's that's OK.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: Glad to see how i like somebody, not me, was on it, really thinking that they thinking that way.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right, and he saw ultimately he saw either he could not win. There's no possibility of him winning. He did not have the um confidence um of the people. And there's it's's there's there's no path to victory for him. And he did the right thing. He said, you know what, this is not my my my time anymore. I'm gonna pass the torch. And there's a lot that I don't,

Grumpy Old Prop: really appreciate i I'd say I wouldn't say don't like although there's a little bit I don't like about Kamala Harris.

jarrod_dyke: Hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: But here's the thing and I saw somebody is that there's a um great historian that I I follow and and kind of presentory and I don't know what the what the the word for that would be. um She kind of mixes history and and and present times. Sarah Kenzior, who was a great follow on the Twitter so you and she's a great writer. who is basically like, look, I don't know what's going to happen. and And it looks like Harris is going to win because like all of a sudden there's this massive ground swell. Hopefully she continues to and she's speaking up for things we need. She's talking about, um you know, banning fracking, banning offshore drilling.

jarrod_dyke: Mm -hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: ahs um And going after companies that lied about, you know, climate change stuff and really, you know, dig into that. She's for universal health care, which we desperately need all sorts of those good policies. I don't know where she's going to stand on police reform going back to Sonia Massey.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah, and she wasn't easy, so that'll be interesting to see where that goes.

Grumpy Old Prop: I don't know, but I hope that's yeah, I hope that I hope that changes. um

jarrod_dyke: I'd like to think she saw the underbelly of it and knows how bad it is.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: from that angle, which is what I'm choosing to believe at the moment.

Grumpy Old Prop: and And what else I'm choosing to believe is that, so anyway, as Sarah was saying, we don't know what's gonna happen, but that's a good thing. Cause like, we know what we're getting when we elect people like Joe Biden and it's nothing good, unfortunately. It's like, yeah, it's not the as bad as it could be. Cause it's not a not not like Trump, um not not like total fascism, but it's not good. And now it's like, well, we don't know what we're gonna get.

jarrod_dyke: No.

Grumpy Old Prop: And that's a good thing, unfortunately. And to me, um I'm even more hopeful because what this shows is that they have to start listening to us.

jarrod_dyke: Right?

Grumpy Old Prop: And and you know especially for for yeah for voters, basically my age and younger, where we haven't seen one goddamn benefit from voting at all in our entire lives.

jarrod_dyke: Maybe they will.

Grumpy Old Prop: And you know I'm 44.

jarrod_dyke: Right.

Grumpy Old Prop: I'm like almost And that's not good, right? so And obviously Biden had to drop out, look, in 2028, if Kamala fucks up, um'm I'm at least like you know confident that, all right, we can get new leadership and in you know after then. too.

jarrod_dyke: Right.

Grumpy Old Prop: And it's like, look, we, you know, we we we can control things now, um or at least guide things. um So they're gonna have to start listening to us at some point. And there's things that that our generation wants and needs, needs, not just wants. um So I'm hopeful for the future that, you know, we will like, maybe someday this segment won't be needed. So sorry for that taking so long, but um it's big, it's big.

jarrod_dyke: Be nice. Nah, worth it.

Grumpy Old Prop: like This is this is some you know historic shit that's that's going on in our country in a bad way and in a good way.

jarrod_dyke: yeah and's worth it

Grumpy Old Prop: And plus, we're gonna elect a black um Indian woman president, i'll what what looks like it anyway.

jarrod_dyke: and

Grumpy Old Prop: Um, cause now Trump's the old guy and he's out of touch and his vice president's a douchebag. And so it's, it's, yeah it's looking good. So at least something historic is going to happen and hopefully good things come with it.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah, that's worth it. You know, the VP is not a good person because people were shouting terrible racist things about his wife and he did nothing.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. what

jarrod_dyke: He did nothing. I was like, really, dude? Like you know you start shout start shouting that shit about my wife. Number one, I fuck your party. I'm out. Number two, I will find you and I will fucking kill you like as bullshit. ah Yeah. And as the for for our generation, as the fucking boomers slugged them in the face,

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: yeah

jarrod_dyke: they are actually starting to get to that age where unfortunately, fortunately unfortunately, they are passing away.

Grumpy Old Prop: read

Grumpy Old Prop: Yep. They're no longer the dominant force.

jarrod_dyke: Good things and bad, you know, good things and bad things with it.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: um But also like, they're the boomer a the boomer generation also didn't take good care of themselves as they were growing up like they they lived a good life and they also lived in excess more often than not.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right. Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: So with that comes ah rather rambunctious lifestyle and also one that doesn't love it lend itself to a long, you know, lifespan.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

jarrod_dyke: So just, you know, that might happen a little bit here and there. Just saying, you know, I had i but i had a friend of a family friend who was a hard steadfast Republican but did not take care of himself and he just died.

Grumpy Old Prop: right Right.

jarrod_dyke: So case in point.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: um That's my, that's where I, that's where I see that for in my, in my world, maybe I'm way off, but that's where I can see it at least to

Grumpy Old Prop: but ultimately you know with millennials and and Gen Z now that are now reaching voting age, there's a lot more of us than there are of them now anyway. And so it's one of those if you want to, and this is something like I haven't seen this since, I haven't felt this way I should say since 2008 when Obama was talking about changing things and you know he basically got rebuked by his own party and they said, no, go fuck yourself.

jarrod_dyke: keep it that way.

Grumpy Old Prop: um Because they were like, no, we have the old people we gotta cater to. Um, but it's not that way anymore.

jarrod_dyke: Nope.

Grumpy Old Prop: So it's one of those, they have to start listening to the younger folk or they're just not going to get elected.

jarrod_dyke: So maybe we'll actually get things changed.

jarrod_dyke: No, no, because not that many older folk, although man, the the older folk that that are Democrats, they are freaking hard and steadfast and who they are another world for sure.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: But the thing is, they don't have enough voters now. like you know that's you know The older older generations, vote mostly they vote Republican.

jarrod_dyke: No.

jarrod_dyke: Mm hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: So it's like, you can't win as a Democrat just catering to the old crowd anymore. You can't.

jarrod_dyke: No, no.

Grumpy Old Prop: It's not going to work. that's Again, that's what's happening with Biden. You look at at the polls for him, you know over 65, they thought he was fine. They thought there was nothing wrong. Like, yeah, we'll vote for him. And then everybody under that was like, fuck no.

jarrod_dyke: Nope. Big old bucket of nope salad right there, my friends.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. And it's like, oh, okay, we we we really can't win this way.

jarrod_dyke: We can't do this.

Grumpy Old Prop: So hopefully that that that political wind is is changing.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah, we can't do this.

Grumpy Old Prop: And I'm excited about that.

jarrod_dyke: Mm hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: Because as someone who went up until this past week feeling like we are fucked, at the very least, it doesn't feel like that anymore.

jarrod_dyke: Yep.

jarrod_dyke: Mm hmm. Yeah. Yeah, no longer feels that way at the minimum.

Grumpy Old Prop: So

jarrod_dyke: So that's good.

Grumpy Old Prop: I mean, we probably still are, but at the same time, at least, like, doesn't deserve hope.

jarrod_dyke: May yet be but let's at least we have a little bit more hope to hang on to now.

Grumpy Old Prop: The fact that there's...

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, that's a good thing.

jarrod_dyke: I need sometimes. All right. um Make sure you know what you don't even need to do it right now.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, we'll hold off from on our Patreon, but...

jarrod_dyke: But yeah Wait, wait for, wait for next season, but, um, the Patreon will be there as usual.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. Save Upboard.

jarrod_dyke: Um, we appreciate everyone that's done it. That's done it this year. Um, thank you all very, very much. Uh, we appreciate you guys believing in us and committing to us and helping us out however you can.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm -hmm.

jarrod_dyke: So thank you very much guys. Everyone that subscribed and we hope that we'll have even more good stuff for you next year.

Grumpy Old Prop: right Right.

jarrod_dyke: Okay, let's jump in. So, International Roundup, we can go like a thousand places right now.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm.

jarrod_dyke: um To touch on France, I barely watched that series. It's not good that they drew, and it's even worse what happened off the field. That's all I know.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, well, I mean, it was there like C squad, but still like the shit that happened off the field is bad.

jarrod_dyke: It was, but they still had some fucking talented players on that team.

Grumpy Old Prop: They did.

jarrod_dyke: Like, let's not let's not sit there and say, oh yeah, no big deal.

Grumpy Old Prop: They did.

jarrod_dyke: It's like, yeah, you had some good players on that team.

Grumpy Old Prop: That's

jarrod_dyke: There's no reason you sure drew.

Grumpy Old Prop: No, um but I think the off -field distractions were were a little much.

jarrod_dyke: No reason whatsoever.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: um Having to send one player home for for being a racist motherfucker and then having two players arrested for being um fucking ah sex pests.

jarrod_dyke: not a Notable, right?

jarrod_dyke: Pieces of shit.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, exactly, sexual assault in the team hotel.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: Like, yeah, not good.

jarrod_dyke: Not a good, not a good weekend for Gauthier.

Grumpy Old Prop: Not a good look.

jarrod_dyke: That's for sure.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, CBass, fix that shit.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah. Um,

jarrod_dyke: So we got, and then we have, so Argentina, like I said, good for them for drawing, really like, but they've proven themselves a pain in the ass to beat at home now, which is great.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: They, hopefully we see more in the rugby championship when that starts to kick off soon.

jarrod_dyke: Let's go to, ah let's let's just talk touch briefly on Australia because there's goods and bads with it.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm

jarrod_dyke: Obviously there's um ah growing pains.

Grumpy Old Prop: hmm.

jarrod_dyke: Yes, they beat whales twice.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm

jarrod_dyke: Whales have a lot going on for them. What I'm hopeful for and what we actually, we will get to the USA and trust me, but what I am, what I, what I would be happy about it from Australia.

Grumpy Old Prop: hmm.

jarrod_dyke: Don't plan on doing a whole lot in the TRC this year. Just be honest with yourself.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm.

jarrod_dyke: Um, one thing for, and I can see a little bit of the Joe Schmidt attack coming in already, like what we saw with Ireland and good and bad, but you know, we know there's some flaws with it.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: Hopefully he's shaking things up and realize, right.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, I thought it looked better than than it looked when he was in Ireland, to be honest, they looked a lot more. They had a lot more attacking intent. They had a lot more open play. um It was not paint by numbers. So um maybe, you know, we were and we'll talk about

jarrod_dyke: No.

Grumpy Old Prop: Um, gats in a second too, but maybe Schmidt has learned from, um, from his mistakes, which always love when coaches do that.

jarrod_dyke: Right.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: Eddie.

jarrod_dyke: And, you know, he had a very successful first stint with Allen and then his contractor would was justifiably renewed. Didn't they beat the All Blacks twice in his first four years?

Grumpy Old Prop: I don't even know what was that then.

jarrod_dyke: at least once, at least once.

Grumpy Old Prop: Jeez. Okay.

jarrod_dyke: So anyway, justify, justified in renewing him without a doubt.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: And then you have, and then you, and then you had that second one where it was like, there's a, there's not a lot of great things going on with this going leading up to, you know, the 2019 one.

Grumpy Old Prop: um Right.

jarrod_dyke: And yes, they still qualify for the knockouts and whatever, but man, it was, it was by the skin of their teeth and they got dragged along by

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm

jarrod_dyke: some of the old heads, so it's best that he moved on and you know, things do get stale sometimes in those situations and that's fair.

Grumpy Old Prop: hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: So I, you know, typically capped at him for just being like, you know what, I'm gonna move on and took a back seat with a role with New Zealand and then got himself, you know, another head coaching job and I think he'll, I think he's gonna do good things.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm.

jarrod_dyke: I like a lot of the, I like a lot of the, players he was bringing through. like i like the I like the idea of Paisami and Fluke combining, which was good in the midfielder.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yes.

jarrod_dyke: um Did either one of them like go ahead and shoulders above anybody?

Grumpy Old Prop: Uh huh.

jarrod_dyke: No, but it's it gives you a solid midfield. Paisami is very dynamic, so is Fluke.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

jarrod_dyke: I think they let a lot of the other guys kind of do the dirty work.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm.

jarrod_dyke: That back three was electric, by the way, and that's without Marky Mark, by the way, as well.

Grumpy Old Prop: I guess it was. Yep.

jarrod_dyke: so

Grumpy Old Prop: And Corey tool who proved today that he's still got some speed and obviously we're recording this the first day of the Olympic sevens Corey tool had some had a had a selfless torture so

jarrod_dyke: yeah

jarrod_dyke: Olympics.

Grumpy Old Prop: um You know he him being available will help too. There's there's suddenly you know it Carter Gordon leaving too is is problematic, but Lola CEO I thought played outstanding so you're fine there um It just kind of sucks that so many Australia Aussies are suddenly choosing ah league um Yes

jarrod_dyke: I did too. Yeah, it's just a unfortunate time. They held on to Tom Wright. That was a huge one. Wright easily could have gone back to league.

Grumpy Old Prop: And that was huge. And they so they also didn't have Wilson with he's been hurt. So um there's, there's a lot to, you know, a lot looking up for Australia that that was not looking in that direction, you know, about a year ago.

jarrod_dyke: Yes.

jarrod_dyke: I liked, I think Bobby V's the best position is six.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yes.

jarrod_dyke: Let me put that out there.

Grumpy Old Prop: yeah Yep.

jarrod_dyke: I think he's a fantastic player anyway that wants to check the records. I love Bobby bobby V.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yep.

jarrod_dyke: Rob Valentini ah I Do think his No, not that one.

Grumpy Old Prop: Not Bobby Valentine, former manager of the Red Sox.

jarrod_dyke: Jesus Mary and Joseph. Anyway, it's from New England. Not that fucker. God damn. I hated that guy when he was here um Anyway um Charlie Kayla 8 was interesting.

Grumpy Old Prop: but

Grumpy Old Prop: Even in the wrap though. Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: I like that.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. I do like Charlie Cole.

jarrod_dyke: I like I like that. I do think Wilson's better um I think like he Gleason probably should have given him more of a run but you already know what you have with Gleason so I

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: I, it's again, I think, I think a lot of the good things were trying guys out like, uh, like a Charlie kale.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm -hmm.

jarrod_dyke: Um, no idea what Angus wife was doing in there, but whatever. Um, uh, Tom Liner, another one, you know, blood, ah blood on, let him, let him get, let him take his lumps right now.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm -hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm -hmm.

jarrod_dyke: Because if you want to try doing this, you know, when you're looking at, uh, we woke up quarterfinal, potentially on the line and you want to try and start guys, then Ben Dalton.

Grumpy Old Prop: You're gonna need, you're gonna need him.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm -hmm.

jarrod_dyke: Eddie.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: You're kind of signing up yourself up for a disaster, honestly.

Grumpy Old Prop: yeah

jarrod_dyke: So that's, that's good. for That's good. In my book. I like it.

jarrod_dyke: Wales, again, same idea, though. I don't know what the fuck Aaron Rainway was doing in that team.

Grumpy Old Prop: oh Why is Corey Hill even on the team, let alone captaining it?

jarrod_dyke: Also that um I liked i Like both of us but despite the fact that he had but this shit I believe I Was like, oh that's friendly fire right there.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: I didn't see it until you pointed it out to me afterwards I was like, oh I didn't catch that Oh it i was like oh That ah hurts that hurts a lot

Grumpy Old Prop: Right Because I was I be i said tent to Jared I'm like that both of them should have been get red carded and he's like what the hell are like everything's like What the fuck are you talking about? So I sent him that the clip but he's like, oh, I didn't even see that But he's so much better than who's that hump that was but starting Any um Yeah, who threw the ball into touch like off a pick like at the

jarrod_dyke: um

jarrod_dyke: Wayne, right?

jarrod_dyke: Yeah. People were like just fricking kissing his ass. I have no idea why.

Grumpy Old Prop: I don't get it.

jarrod_dyke: I was like, Nope, don't see anything about it.

Grumpy Old Prop: Don't see it.

jarrod_dyke: Oh, he runs hard. Awesome. Most guys can at this, at this level, find me somebody that's a little bit more dynamic and can move the ball and maybe more a little bit more productive in attack other than running into three guys at once.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. Right. Right. Like yeah like Yeah, exactly, like we've been saying about other you know and players in other positions, like if he's the guy you yeah that people claim he he is, he doest first off, that pass that he threw into touch, he doesn't go in into touch, but second off, he doesn't throw that pass, he just runs over for the try.

jarrod_dyke: Right.

Grumpy Old Prop: And but and he was not doing that, because he wasn't fast enough to the line.

jarrod_dyke: Mm -hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: So that's why he had to pass, and then he,

jarrod_dyke: Mm -hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: I fucking humped the pass because he was who's panicking because he's like, oh shit, that's i'm I'm supposed to be running a two guys, not three.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: He's like, well, you were slow. So.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah. Did you know Ben Thomas doesn't play fly half first club?

Grumpy Old Prop: Well, you know, if I didn't know before when he honked that kick, I certainly certainly did.

jarrod_dyke: ah

Grumpy Old Prop: um Yeah, I think and that was.

jarrod_dyke: The Australian commentary did not shut up about it.

Grumpy Old Prop: No.

jarrod_dyke: Oh my God. Could not let that go for, for one second.

Grumpy Old Prop: But. yeah it's like that was this that was the story though to me of of this international period was um the kicks at goal rather than going for touch and and and trying to score tries like to me ah does it really do you really care if you win or lose these games like in the grand scheme of things

jarrod_dyke: Jesus.

jarrod_dyke: You beat the point to death.

jarrod_dyke: Hmm.

jarrod_dyke: I think after the, I think the first tour after the, after the world cup should be a hundred percent rebuilding and just trying to figure out who you have, what you have and what you're capable of. Like, don't worry about what wins and losses beats the shit out of me.

Grumpy Old Prop: ah

Grumpy Old Prop: 100 % agreed. So why the fuck are you bothering to kick a goal? Show me what you're you want is I want I want to see what my team does Inside the 22 get us inside the 22. Let's try to score either off the line out of them all You know an open plate show um show it to me and also build on that Apparently kick gets you fucking nothing.

jarrod_dyke: Mm hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: It doesn't teach you anything. You don't get you know you Yeah. As we saw, especially in this, this round of, of and MLR playoffs too, a bunch of teams kicked for posts and then immediately get like, you know, they, so if they made it, they immediately gave up a try. Cause all of a sudden you're playing in your own end and bad things happen.

jarrod_dyke: Right.

Grumpy Old Prop: And I feel like we saw that in the international ah play too.

jarrod_dyke: Yep.

Grumpy Old Prop: There's just no fucking point at this point.

jarrod_dyke: Nope.

Grumpy Old Prop: Fucking go for the corner.

jarrod_dyke: Um,

Grumpy Old Prop: You know, get your line out, on you know, Go and get your mall going get your players having fun um and playing the game.

jarrod_dyke: yep.

jarrod_dyke: Play the game. Damn it. The, it's hard. It's hard if you're England to take away a lot of positives from two losses, but you, you didn't lose by much and.

Grumpy Old Prop: Oh, I thought there were a lot of positives. I thought there were a lot of positives from that.

jarrod_dyke: Right. No, I'm, I'm, I'm agreeing with you. Like most, there are some people that are like, Oh, they lost both teams. Well, i'll get the fuck over it. Cause there's still a lot of good things that were happening there.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: Like get off, get off it, man. Like, you know, you have, you have four back to three players that five really that most teams would beg for.

Grumpy Old Prop: yeah

jarrod_dyke: So you now know that, and you can chop and change most of them and it's not a big deal. And that's yes. Sign me up. Um, You can probably move one of those back three players into 13 and say bye bye to Henry Slade because I don't know what he does now like.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. Yeah, that needs to happen. The tangible that he would, you know, I understand there might be an intangibles there.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: but the tangible what he does on the field. Like that first game against New Zealand, I think it was the first game against New Zealand um when it was like kind of a dirty pitch.

jarrod_dyke: yeah

jarrod_dyke: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: And in the second half around the 55, 60 minute mark when they're bringing in subs, and then you could see the clean jerseys versus the dirty jerseys. And then you see yeah Henry Slade there and his jersey is clean. It's like, what the fuck? What what the fuck?

jarrod_dyke: What are you out there for?

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: You supposedly a defender, which I don't agree with, but okay.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right, but he doesn't tackle. He doesn't make tackles. He can't he you know that that yeah certainly that first game he touched the ball like five times in the first half and every single time he did something terrible happen.

jarrod_dyke: It was like, what are you doing?

Grumpy Old Prop: Like not even bad. It was terrible.

jarrod_dyke: Bad, bad.

Grumpy Old Prop: Like through the one way to touch got charged down twice.

jarrod_dyke: Yep.

Grumpy Old Prop: um Turn the ball over because he went after he after he actually did get you know took he ran got tackled but he had no fucking support because he ran away from it and then turn it out like just bad stuff happening when he's around the ball.

jarrod_dyke: Mm -hmm. Yep.

jarrod_dyke: You know, everybody, everybody has been long glorifying the game that George Ford had against the L wax of the 2019 road cup. He didn't, number one, get over that.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: The forwards dominated that game.

Grumpy Old Prop: but

jarrod_dyke: Let's just be honest about that. Number two, if you're all about that game, then you better be all about Marcus Smith and the way he played against New Zealand in these two games in New Zealand, not a neutral venue, not back home at Twickenham in New Zealand.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yep. Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: No, he was fantastic.

jarrod_dyke: He is your guy, plain and simple.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. Yep.

jarrod_dyke: move on Move on from anything that has to do with George Ford. He's not gonna be a part of the 20 -27 team. Why the fuck you bothering?

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

jarrod_dyke: Like, get the fuck out of here.

Grumpy Old Prop: i And I thought Finn Smith looked, looked quite, and again, and this is, this is gonna, this is not a backhanded compliment. He looked adequate. I mean, and he's like, what, 21 something?

jarrod_dyke: Yeah, 21 or 22, yep.

Grumpy Old Prop: 22? Like, like, they adequate is good.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah, let him grow, he'll grow.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right? um So he'll grow. That's, that's your combination going forward. That's a good damn combination.

jarrod_dyke: Mm -hmm. Yep.

Grumpy Old Prop: Um, really then that's like every, I thought everybody in, um, in the forwards, um, Finn Baxter played 70 minutes in one match and was good for 70.

jarrod_dyke: Agreed.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah. Good for him. Yep.

Grumpy Old Prop: Like that's, that's huge having that you need it.

jarrod_dyke: Yep.

Grumpy Old Prop: They still need a little bit of a tight head situation. They got to sort that out a little bit.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah, if they keep having a wheel dank all up there, they're gonna be in trouble.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

jarrod_dyke: That's all I know.

Grumpy Old Prop: Um, and, and really there were only three guys, I think in that whole series who, who um for England anyway, who I was like, no, they don't they're they can't be on the team going forward. And um Slade was the one, and actually and even one of them, um one of them was was but Coles, Alex Coles, who just, yeah, and he was he pooped himself.

jarrod_dyke: They kept playing him at six.

Grumpy Old Prop: Like he would just, no.

jarrod_dyke: No, he was he he doesn't belong there. Put him in the second row or don't play him.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right, yeah.

jarrod_dyke: Those are your answers.

Grumpy Old Prop: And um and honestly, Curry, who gave gave nothing.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah, nothing.

Grumpy Old Prop: I didn't even see him out there.

jarrod_dyke: Couldn't tell you when the last time I saw him other than when he rolls onto the pitch.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right. It's like, okay, oh, Curry's on. Okay, cool. And then you don't see him again. It's like, all right.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: um But Earl played very well.

jarrod_dyke: Yep.

Grumpy Old Prop: um st Chandler Cunningham South is your six.

jarrod_dyke: Yep, played really well.

Grumpy Old Prop: That's, that's definite. um And Maro had, is, is, yep.

jarrod_dyke: Still one of the best seconders in the world.

Grumpy Old Prop: And Maro and Martin, I thought played very well. like Martin did a lot of really good things, both like, yeah.

jarrod_dyke: That's his best position. Like, no doubt. That's his best position.

Grumpy Old Prop: And

jarrod_dyke: Don't try and play him at six, especially at this level.

Grumpy Old Prop: No, no, no, no, no, because you got the physicality, and he's got the play in the loose like that, like, it's the the being able to do both. um You know, we but we'll get to we'll get to to South Africa, but like, people talk about how great Eben Etsibith is.

jarrod_dyke: Makes you an international, yeah. Well, we'll get there.

Grumpy Old Prop: But and you know, what they see and talk about the most is his physicality. But dude, what that guy does in the loose,

jarrod_dyke: He's a nuisance out there.

Grumpy Old Prop: Like an attack and defense, like he'll break the line and then offload and use his, you know, use his length to just, you know, get separation so he can keep the ball free.

jarrod_dyke: He really is. Right. Mm -hmm.

jarrod_dyke: Yep.

Grumpy Old Prop: Like that's huge. Martin was doing stuff like that too. And he doesn't might not have that that length, but ah he's got the girth.

jarrod_dyke: Mm -hmm.

jarrod_dyke: Still doing the good things. Still doing the other things.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

jarrod_dyke: Then the other guys on that were on the pitch too, all blacks.

jarrod_dyke: D -Max reading out George Ford's book a little bit.

Grumpy Old Prop: I yeah, it's still not an international tend to me.

jarrod_dyke: No, no, they they should have put, they should, ah things got better when Bowdoin came into that second game.

Grumpy Old Prop: Like if he was if he was who they again.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

jarrod_dyke: i can I can tell you that for a fact.

Grumpy Old Prop: That is true.

jarrod_dyke: um So hopefully they kind of take the hint. And I know that, I know he played 10, I know Mackenzie played 10 against Fiji, but whatever, you know, that doesn't really count.

Grumpy Old Prop: That doesn't count.

jarrod_dyke: Good for everyone that showed up to Snapdragon. Thank you for making sure that we didn't look like a bunch of bums.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yep.

jarrod_dyke: um I looked at it initially, I thought that's not very full. And then I looked at it again. I was like, okay, that's pretty good actually.

Grumpy Old Prop: No, it's good.

jarrod_dyke: It's a big stadium and well, well filled out.

Grumpy Old Prop: It is. Mm hmm.

jarrod_dyke: um

jarrod_dyke: Yeah, but overall, i I liked a lot of what happened With the all blacks, I just don't, I think there were two, it was very clunky, which happens when you have a new coach.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: So that doesn't shock me.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

jarrod_dyke: The fact that it was clunky, they were still able to get Ws is a positive sign, even though we just talk about Ws don't matter that much.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm.

jarrod_dyke: It was clunky, so that's probably where the where we can leave it with that.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, but that was an England, ah was also an England team punching above their weight. They played very well.

jarrod_dyke: They did.

Grumpy Old Prop: They played better than they played in the World Cup. And and New Zealand were were up to the test.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah, undoubtedly.

Grumpy Old Prop: I mean, yeah, that was, you know, they, it wasn't looking great for them, but they, you know, that's a good start for Razor. Like, I think he learned a lot about that team and they learned a lot about him. um And I, you know, i I liked that center combination for the second game. I liked, um or was that the, was that just for Fiji, but Proctor? proctor um and and Leonard Brown.

jarrod_dyke: I mean, it's going to be hard to unseat Jordy and Rico, but yes, so that was, it was just for the Fiji game.

Grumpy Old Prop: It is. That was a Fiji game. Okay.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: Still like the way they played. I thought, I still don't like Jordy at 12 much.

jarrod_dyke: I think, I think they moved him there because they had a problem with 12.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: And I think they've kind of not seen that they can actually, they have other answers now and they just haven't really seen that otherwise.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

jarrod_dyke: and

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: Should they want to, they can still shift char back to full back, or they could keep, you can boot into 13.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

Grumpy Old Prop: You could, could I just, i you know, I like the wheels that that that Proctor brought there and um yeah.

jarrod_dyke: Maybe be a little bit better there, you know, as well. I don't know if you want.

jarrod_dyke: Yep.

jarrod_dyke: Good things either way. um

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, and Caleb Clark is is really, really good.

jarrod_dyke: Really good. Really good. Really, really good. Let's go to another big result for the internationals. that was ah Ireland and South Africa. For me, I thought Ireland should have won both these games. Got kind of pissed on a little bit by the officials in both games, more so in the first one, while 50 -50 decisions going very much against them.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm -hmm. Mm -hmm.

jarrod_dyke: um

jarrod_dyke: But in the end, you know, they, they stuck it out and they made, they made life hard on South Africa in South Africa, which is not easy to do by any means whatsoever.

Grumpy Old Prop: Not easy at all.

jarrod_dyke: You know, you got Crowley kind of growing into things and you, you, you got a lot of fricking, uh, Casey, you know, I know he got fricking knocked into next week, you know, with his head hit in the ground, which sucked.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm -hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm -hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: all Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: Um, Kaitlyn blade played pretty well, I thought in that second game. So there's. Again, you know, we were talking about, you know, young talent. We have seen probably one of the best weapons that I am having a long time in Karen Frawley.

Grumpy Old Prop: you

jarrod_dyke: I mean, both of them were not easy. The first one off the drop of the dropout.

Grumpy Old Prop: oh

jarrod_dyke: And then that last one, I was like, he's going to knock this over, isn't he? and i I had on at this at the gym and I was showing my kids, I was like, watch this.

Grumpy Old Prop: yeah

jarrod_dyke: And they're like, wow. I was like, yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: but

jarrod_dyke: exactly what I said.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah Yeah, a little extra on that one too he had he had he had that from a big what 20 meters further if you really wanted it like Yeah One of my one of my players

jarrod_dyke: Oh man.

jarrod_dyke: Oh, we had another bid on it too. I was like, Oh my God, this kid's got a heart and the ease of which he hits it too. It's not like he's really trying to hit it hard. He just looks like he's just swinging a nice, lazy boot and it flies. I was like, Oh God, what is this going on with that? So

Grumpy Old Prop: um Ran into him in Ireland and, uh, said, like, I'd like at a coffee shop and he's like, it was hard to get around his leg, his thighs, his thighs are fucking massive. and it's but Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: I'm, I believe it wholeheartedly, wholeheartedly, 1000%.

Grumpy Old Prop: I a hundred percent believe it.

jarrod_dyke: So Andy Farrell, again, I know we had a, there was a, people were disappointed in the way they exited the World Cup again in the quarter pile. He's one to keep for a long time.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

jarrod_dyke: This is going to be the Lions coach this coming year. That's only a good thing for the Lions. Trust me. Like a lot of good things coming from Andy Farrell. He's evolved this team quite well. And he's, these guys are able to, you know, front up against even the teams that are the most physical, like name a team more physical than South Africa.

Grumpy Old Prop: No.

jarrod_dyke: There isn't one, there isn't one. And I just, so I, you know, and I'm, you know, I'm a big door.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm

jarrod_dyke: I've been a big Caitlin doors fan for a while now. So I'm, I'm happy he's, you know, step yellow card with, you know, without,

Grumpy Old Prop: hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: I, yeah, but that's also, an that's an adjustment, but you know, what six, not even six months ago, two months ago, that's not a yellow.

jarrod_dyke: But.

jarrod_dyke: Right.

Grumpy Old Prop: So it's, it's.

jarrod_dyke: It might. Well, it might be because ah because of him coming down on the leg.

Grumpy Old Prop: No, I thought that was just one of the the points of emphasis starting from the new, new laws.

jarrod_dyke: ah Maybe because because. Which dipshit got a card. um At the World Cup. um fris, but got one at the, at the, in the final for that as well.

Grumpy Old Prop: Oh, hmm.

jarrod_dyke: So anyway, but yeah, but now that the croc is like completely outlawed, you can't do it at all.

Grumpy Old Prop: That's right.

jarrod_dyke: It's a penalty. No matter what, no, it doesn't matter the outcome.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: Um, James Ryan can go away. I'm, I'm sad.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: So here's the thing. I'm so disappointed in him and it's been talked about a couple of times now. And guess what? I'm going to talk about it anyway. the way he rose isn't unlike the way Joe McCarthy's coming up right now.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm.

jarrod_dyke: um And then he just like either got full of himself and plateaued, or maybe people adjusted to him and he didn't adjust back. I don't know which one combination both likely because that's usually how it goes.

Grumpy Old Prop: yeah

jarrod_dyke: But it's just so disappointing. So hopefully, and someone said it and I was like, yes, please do that.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: He should have his arm around Joe McCarthy and saying like, here's the things I fucked up, you're not dissimilar to where I was like eight years ago. Here's her how, ah here's how I screwed up.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, right.

jarrod_dyke: Don't do this shit. Okay. Cause really, I don't know what good he does on this team.

Grumpy Old Prop: Not anymore, unfortunately.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: and And when you have that again, You have Joe McCarthy there who is was the new hotness. um And you still have Tyburn around.

jarrod_dyke: Uh, extremely dynamic second row.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right. Like, that's...

Grumpy Old Prop: That should be it.

jarrod_dyke: Unquestionably.

Grumpy Old Prop: um And maybe Ryan can you can come off the bench.

jarrod_dyke: And Baird should be your 19, you know?

Grumpy Old Prop: but and Oh, Baird. Shit, you still have Baird. Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: Baird should be your 19 and you can throw another, they got a handful of loose forwards I could throw in as 20.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm -hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. Um, this is probably, I guess this is what Peter Romani's swan song in a way, who maybe bring him back for six nations.

jarrod_dyke: Which ought to be, it will be if it doesn't yet. It's gonna be soon. um

Grumpy Old Prop: There's again, a little bit of a talisman, but and the that's true.

jarrod_dyke: Well, you can bring him back in ah in the autumn and say, and say goodbye to him there.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: I would say that.

Grumpy Old Prop: Maybe at a, certainly he deserves a home match.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah. Home match to say goodbye to him and let him, let him right off in the sunset.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm -hmm.

jarrod_dyke: Cause that's probably it. Uh, cause Doris is your captain going forward. No question. Um, on the other side for South Africa, they didn't play badly in the first test. So I'm not saying they didn't deserve to, didn't totally deserve to when they, they obviously They earned it, so they got there. Good for them. The difference between the first test and the second test is they fucking scored a goddamn try.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: They didn't score a try in the second one because they just went allergic to it.

Grumpy Old Prop: No.

jarrod_dyke: If you're going to go for a 6 -2 split and you're not even going to try and drive one the fuck over, what are we even doing here, dude?

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right, what are we even doing here?

jarrod_dyke: Like what's going on here?

Grumpy Old Prop: That, yeah, that was a ah ah an egregious mismatch of um player selection and game plan.

jarrod_dyke: Baffled me.

Grumpy Old Prop: If that's what the game plan, indeed the game plan was. Like they just decided we are not gonna try to score a try. Anytime we get a chance at a penalty, we are just gonna go for posts and be done with it. and

Grumpy Old Prop: That's not a way to win a test match and as he knows that and and the whole coaching staff knows that it just obviously didn't trickle down the players And hondre pollard's got to be better than that that was a that was just an incredibly selfish display on his part to do that at some point you gotta be like no no no we're gonna go to a corner because Yeah Right

jarrod_dyke: So, and I mean, if we're talking about, I don't need it. Like yeah in some points, sometimes it's just called from down from top of you and you don't fuck with it, but it's like, and you're telling me we're lost no matter what you're telling me. 100 Pollard needs this much kicking practice in a test match?

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

jarrod_dyke: Does he? I think the answer is no. I'm pretty sure, damn sure the answer is no.

Grumpy Old Prop: I mean, what? I think he was 100%.

jarrod_dyke: like No, you didn't miss many if you missed any.

Grumpy Old Prop: I think he missed one. but It's just.

Grumpy Old Prop: but Well, the certainly the second match, I don't think he missed one.

jarrod_dyke: Second match, I don't think you missed any. I think you're right.

Grumpy Old Prop: But but why? What's the point of going? I don't know what some ridiculous number like nine for nine, something stupid.

jarrod_dyke: They're gonna have to find someone not named Quagga Smith to back up Jasper when he he's not available because Quagga ain't it.

Grumpy Old Prop: Not two.

jarrod_dyke: And I was a big fan of Quagga when he burst onto the scene, but he is not a number eight, number one, number two.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

jarrod_dyke: He's not gonna be able to be dragged out to you know almost 40 like Duane Vermeulen was. Duane Vermeulen did not belong on that field, by the way.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

jarrod_dyke: let's just be The only thing that kept him on, on that field was his brain at best, but really the dynamics of, you know, being a number eight, we're not there for him anymore.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: You know, but just not, this is the time to do it.

Grumpy Old Prop: No, and Quaga is not, you know, you've you've got these young dynamic eights just sitting there waiting. Um, and I realized they're young, but this is this, that's what this whole time is for.

jarrod_dyke: The time to do it.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. Because like you got to find, like as, as Jared and I, jordan Jared and I have said over the years, like,

Grumpy Old Prop: you gotta at least take the look at someone, because just giving them the opportunity sometimes, they just blossom. You give someone ah ah just a little bit of a teensy peek at what life is like at the next level up. And all of a sudden they're like, oh, I can swim in these waters. And now all of a sudden they grow and they they blossom and they're amazing. and if you don't even give him that shot or if you wait too long, it's too late, they get into their habits, um this is the time to be looking at Daimani and let him run, see what he can do.

jarrod_dyke: Mm -hmm Right Congratulations, you already said

Grumpy Old Prop: What, there's no, there's, what do you, you know, what are you gonna do, lose a game? Well, you did. So, right, like maybe, maybe you do something different, and you know, maybe not for the, that's the other thing is not for the rugby championships, you're gonna wanna, you know, if you wanna compete for, for some hardware, that's a different story. Now there's a little bit more pressure on it. This is the time to, This should have been the time to see what you got. Excuse me.

jarrod_dyke: Won't want.

jarrod_dyke: All right. Let's address our fellow Americans, because this is.

Grumpy Old Prop: My fellow Americans.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: It's like I said it a long time ago, and I was and I'm not going to shake from it. What the fuck are we doing? Please explain it to me why we are capping 30 year old players for the first time. If our grand plan is to go to 2031 and win a fucking quarterfinal, what the fuck is a 30 -year -old player that has never played before for the US doing in the team?

Grumpy Old Prop: Mhm.

jarrod_dyke: Please explain to me how that helps our development. Why was like Oscar Lennon or McVey not given a nod in that whole thing?

Grumpy Old Prop: Mhm.

jarrod_dyke: like You have either one of them and then you have Reuben. That should be your answer going forward.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mhm.

jarrod_dyke: like i I'm so fucking lost on this whole thing. AJ, I love you. Bless your heart. You have done everything for the country that you that we couldn't give you. Leave. You're done. Go home.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm.

jarrod_dyke: Stick to club rugby for a long time, make more money, and then try not to, that way you don't have to break while you're on international duty with us, because it ain't worth it for your career, my friend.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

jarrod_dyke: It ain't.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm.

jarrod_dyke: We need to find more guys. Simple as that. And it doesn't start by starting, you know, two 30 plus year old dudes at halfback spots. Like, fucking hell. losing the fucking remaining on your own soil needs to just be one of those things that goes, what the fuck just happened?

Grumpy Old Prop: Right. That was awful. That was that's embarrassing. And the way they played that game was embarrassing, too. It's not like they deserve to lose. And that's.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, I don't.

jarrod_dyke: Couldn't even like, and like the two There were at least two or three times at the end where they could have just gone for the jugular and killed the game off. Instead, we tried to kick for post and AJ made what, one out of three of those, I think?

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm -hmm. Yeah, and like the last two he missed and it's like just go go to the corner get your pushover try you're so you are bigger and stronger than they are and they said no no no no we're gonna get cute and They the cute turned ugly

jarrod_dyke: Like, mm -hmm.

jarrod_dyke: yeah

jarrod_dyke: Yup.

Grumpy Old Prop: And the worst part was the second kick he he took a goal was, was in a worse position than the first. It's like, you've already honked one from a pretty friendly, like, yeah, it was from distance, but it was like a fairly good angle.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: The second one was like at a weird angle and, and still a little bit from distance. It's like, you he's going to miss this one. What the fuck are you even doing?

jarrod_dyke: Yeah, I knew that was happening.

Grumpy Old Prop: Just go to the corner.

jarrod_dyke: like a And like, up up front or front row, like, I don't like the second game, they put a new and a tight head. Why didn't they cat gale Geiger?

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm.

jarrod_dyke: And Paul because Paul Mullins totally worth hanging on to right now at, you know, see 35 right now.

Grumpy Old Prop: No.

jarrod_dyke: He's not even gonna see the next World Cup, like, get guys in there. It's I'm glad they got his current. Great. That's a that's a good one. We need it. We're gonna need him. You know, they've kind of let when glue ski go by. Great. Get the fuck rid of faucet.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm.

jarrod_dyke: He's overrated. Fuck that guy. um I'm sorry, sorry, not sorry. I'm glad Dolan got hurt. So we we weren't forced to play his stupid ass along with Greg Peterson.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right. my Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: Like you have one that's a captain and you have one that's not the one that's not the captain needs to go. Bye bye. Like leave the team forever.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mhm.

jarrod_dyke: Go play your shitty rugby. You know, we're going to talk about them in a minute. Um, and then just let's move on to someone like, um, hello. Now he's a dynamic six second row guy can play. Um, the, fricking young kid from Breve got the start in the remaining game.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mhm.

jarrod_dyke: I can't remember his name off the top of my head.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mhm.

jarrod_dyke: It doesn't matter that much. um Like, pat like Patty Ryan, who played who's been playing loose forward for us is 25 and has like four caps, I think he's way older than he should be for having that many to have that many caps for this team.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm. Right.

jarrod_dyke: Like, we are just relying on old horses too often, too much.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

jarrod_dyke: like It's not news, but it's like we just, you know, what's the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

jarrod_dyke: I think we're in that spot right now. So what the fuck, guys?

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: Come on.

Grumpy Old Prop: Let's do something new. Let's get I mean, then what are you gonna lose?

jarrod_dyke: Oh, please.

Grumpy Old Prop: ah

jarrod_dyke: Oh, we're good at that, don't worry.

Grumpy Old Prop: right I think that that's my that's my refrain for for this, you know, as we said this this round right after the World Cup What's the worst that happens you lose again?

jarrod_dyke: Oh, but we don't wanna do.

Grumpy Old Prop: like

jarrod_dyke: Ooh, isn't that too bad?

Grumpy Old Prop: oh no

jarrod_dyke: Like, ah what you don't want to do is go into, you know, qualifying against Uruguay, Canada, Chile, whoever, and fucking bottle of that because we were relying on too many old horses because we've already done that once.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right And

jarrod_dyke: You know, Sam Gola should be a second row, by the way. He's not he's not six.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: Like leave him in the second row, please.

Grumpy Old Prop: And what what killed me, though, was the game against Scotland, where it was two teams playing at two different paces.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: Like, and and credit to the US, I thought they defended pretty well. um

jarrod_dyke: So one thing most international teams can do though.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right. The thing is, their offense looked like it was in quicksand. Like they'd get a tackle and then or they'd take a tackle. the rockwood support was there, which is good. But it was like two to three seconds before the nine was like really in position to get it out. and Then he was looking up to see who was there. And then it was getting and it's like, there was no pace like down, down recycle ball out.

jarrod_dyke: I would as a and think Ben and I can both agree, as coaches, we would be losing our shit if we're trying to attack at that speed.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

jarrod_dyke: like I see my kids go that slow, I'm like, go! I scream, like on the training field, I will scream at them, go now!

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: like Why aren't we moving? And I'm usually really annoyed.

Grumpy Old Prop: Oh yeah. and like I was working with mostly freshmen at nine.

jarrod_dyke: like What the fuck?

Grumpy Old Prop: And on the training pitch, I'm like, that ball's got to be out now. like I'd be like snapping at them. like Ball down, out.

jarrod_dyke: yeah yeah Yep.

Grumpy Old Prop: Get it out.

jarrod_dyke: Yep.

Grumpy Old Prop: Get it out. And they were like, oh, naked it took them a little bit.

jarrod_dyke: Yep. Yep.

Grumpy Old Prop: But they're getting there. But it's like, you got to have it. it can't be You know can't be waiting around. and And especially a team like Scotland, which is, you know, maybe not the best tier one team, but they're not the worst anymore. well Um, like they're, they're a good team. They're going to be in position. Like you got to put pressure on them and and you're not going to put pressure on them through physicality because that's not the way the game is played anymore. Anyway, um, you're going to need to do it through, through timing and, and, and quick ball movement.

jarrod_dyke: No.

Grumpy Old Prop: And they were not doing that. And that's, you know, to me, the fact that they only let up 42 points says a ah lot. I thought that was impressive.

jarrod_dyke: I definitely had them down for way more than that, so.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right. So cool.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah, but silly.

Grumpy Old Prop: But that that attack has got to get better and quicker and more dynamic.

jarrod_dyke: What's it doing? You know, like Mooney Ham, like only getting his first cap now, he's 28 now, like he's we he's been a thing for a while now, like,

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm.

jarrod_dyke: and And he's had a little bit of an injury bug, but still there are points where he was probably available and we just said, nah, nah, we're not going to pick you.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm.

jarrod_dyke: you're You're too young. It's like, we're not doing anything different different at this point other than losing, you know, we have. Yeah, I don't know. There's too much going on otherwise. And, you know, the systemic stuff down the down the pipeline we can get into another day. I'm not going to do that right now. You know, upside. U .S. U20s got to the final of the World Junior Trophy, got humped, but you know what, we got there.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm. Hey, got there.

jarrod_dyke: We got there and they've qualified for it two years in a row now.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm.

jarrod_dyke: We now know about certain players like Dominic Bsag and what's his name? Spencer Huntley or something. I think it's like, the last name is Huntley, I know that. He's 17, by the way. He should be one of the first co -ops as soon as he's eligible to come to the scene. I would call him now, he's only 17.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right. Not yet.

jarrod_dyke: That is too young probably.

Grumpy Old Prop: ah Yeah, that's to you.

jarrod_dyke: But when you get to like 1920, he needs to be the first name on the on the call.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm.

jarrod_dyke: Well, it's like, hey, as long as you're ah alive, you've been playing and you feel and you're ready to go, you're coming to camp, end of story. And then same with the kid, Keelan Farrell, scored four in one match.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, yep.

jarrod_dyke: like Yep, okay, sign me up. It's six in four games total. so You know, not bad. I will sign, I will take him for sure. So guys like that, you know, um, and then this kid didn't get the minutes. I thought he should have, but this kid fortune, he looked really good too. So yeah, upside of this international window is that, but yeah, downside, whatever our plan is.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm.

jarrod_dyke: I don't see it yet.

Grumpy Old Prop: No.

jarrod_dyke: Anywho, let's go to the free jacks because free jacks are more awesome anyway. We got it done. um Wayne Vanderbank still fucking amazing right now. That's not news. um Oscar London scored.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: Yes. Yes. Yes. Yeah. We needed that. That was huge. And that was good for him.

Grumpy Old Prop: Really good performance by him that.

jarrod_dyke: He had a great, he had a great game.

Grumpy Old Prop: who

jarrod_dyke: You know, people were a lot of people were kind of like, well, you look nervous. I was like, he probably was like, like his first, his first couple of shots.

Grumpy Old Prop: ah Yeah, he's still he's probably still learning names like let's be honest Mm

jarrod_dyke: Yeah, definitely. I think so as well. But he, yeah, that was probably his best game. That was beautiful.

Grumpy Old Prop: -hmm

jarrod_dyke: You know, I kind of look like using form. Yeah, I'm, you know, the re -slightening of our own variation is looking great.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, Toby f Fricker is an excellent crash chest dummy

jarrod_dyke: ah

jarrod_dyke: Poor fellow was just getting hammered in some of those channels. I was like, I don't know if these set pieces are really designed for Toby to actually do this, but ouch.

Grumpy Old Prop: yeah Let's give you an inside ball until like, yeah.

jarrod_dyke: They're either easy reads or like, he's supposed to break that tackle and he's not. I don't know which one, but.

Grumpy Old Prop: No, I don't think you know, there's no way to break like he's running into like double tackles to locks who are just there to smoosh him and that's there you go.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: Maybe, so maybe somebody used to just not give them that ball there and go to the next option.

Grumpy Old Prop: That's it's more that like, because at some point it's like maybe they want to give them that ball, but it's like that's their they've read it.

jarrod_dyke: Poor guy.

Grumpy Old Prop: So don't do it because you're getting smooshed.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah. Don't do that there. Get to act. Um, we won't have Kyle the rest of the year.

Grumpy Old Prop: Oh, fuck.

jarrod_dyke: Isn't that too bad?

Grumpy Old Prop: Although, um, John Roy, um,

jarrod_dyke: He fucking took his place for a little bit this, this weekend.

Grumpy Old Prop: it was bad.

jarrod_dyke: Jesus.

Grumpy Old Prop: That was bad.

jarrod_dyke: It was very bad.

Grumpy Old Prop: Knock -ons didn't launch on it on defense and they just ran right through his gap. That was, um, that was shit for, for professional prop.

jarrod_dyke: Yep.

jarrod_dyke: Yep.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: Um,

jarrod_dyke: And he's not been doing that this year. So I don't know if like child just bled all over them with some of that stuff or what, but you don't please, please keep it, keep it to yourself.

Grumpy Old Prop: Or you know whatever you ate for dinner Friday night, don't eat the same thing.

Grumpy Old Prop: because you like He literally looked like he like eat some like he ate the entire ah dollar menu at Taco Bell.

jarrod_dyke: ah Um,

Grumpy Old Prop: And what I mean, like, like you know.

jarrod_dyke: Ooh. Ooh. That sounds like it's going to be horrible for a lot of reasons. Personally, just saying that for all our sakes, but yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: like just did not look like he was, uh, he was moving.

jarrod_dyke: No.

Grumpy Old Prop: He wasn't moving well. Um, he wasn't screaming all that well either. Like it was just, no.

jarrod_dyke: No. No, no, no. Um, but yeah, boys move on carpets final this Saturday. Yeah, let's go.

Grumpy Old Prop: The hounds.

jarrod_dyke: They're playing Chicago who smashed Nola really, and I said this to Ben. um Mr. Botha, remember when you shushed us all because you made a kick?

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, yeah.

jarrod_dyke: That meant pretty much nothing.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

jarrod_dyke: Karma has a really fun way of coming around and slapping you right in the face, doesn't it?

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah, fucking prick. So, sorry, not sorry, you guys are sitting at home. And you and I both said, like, some of the shit house organizations, or at least at least the shit house teams that have been playing this year, like I don't love the way the savory cats played. the The second that Dallas decided to turn the the volume up and turn the speed up, they were done. And that was good for them. And, you know, that's me saying that while watching and selling me and going, this guy's fucking shit because that's not news.

Grumpy Old Prop: right even yeah yep that's literally all they have unfortunately and if you know i feel bad for um uh fuck what's his name um for dougie but

jarrod_dyke: I just don't like the way the savory cats played. Then they just the you can hear the commentary, just physical physical. Shut up. Shut up. If that's all you have, you're not a good rugby team. You're just a bunch of bullies. You know, that's it. um

jarrod_dyke: Oh, and no way. Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, he made he made some bad, I guess a bad choice there, but he could do so much better elsewhere.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: He did. um Yeah. And Rodney Yona is not that good. The model kid looked pretty good. Well, at least on that one run. So maybe they have something in him.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

jarrod_dyke: But also. Kind of a shit house organization to be in the league the whole time and only be in the playoffs once.

Grumpy Old Prop: right

jarrod_dyke: I know they've probably had issues, but.

Grumpy Old Prop: And it was like the, uh, so, so just, just for, for as a counterbalance, um, the, uh, the, um, at the free Jack's match. Um, we were there we' were sitting next to one of our our fellow podcasters, um, who got to do the, uh, the Delta seed upgrade question.

jarrod_dyke: The trivia question, yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: And it was, you know, how many times have the of the, the free jacks made the playoffs and the the answer, the answer was every time, but but every, every single time in their existence, except for once.

jarrod_dyke: Yep.

Grumpy Old Prop: And that once was their first year in the league and right.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah, the first full year, not the COVID year.

Grumpy Old Prop: And like, that's, you know, that's this kind of organization, you know, they, they want to be the best. They don't just want to be, you know, the physical or I don't know what the hell Noah was trying to be, but

jarrod_dyke: I saw there their GM or their seat or whatever it was, the guy that had been running the operation.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm.

jarrod_dyke: I am so happy we had Maggleby.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. but

jarrod_dyke: That's all I know. I was like, I don't know if I want to talk to you if I saw you in the stands. Just yeah say that. Mags, on the other hand, I will talk to you all day long as long as he listens, which he's a busy man, so he'll only listen for a few minutes, but he still listens.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, right. Yeah. um Speaking of which, I heard that OGDC's front office people came up to the match to basically study what the Freejacks do um as far as you know fan interactivity and and and setting you know making it up a place you know ah place people want to come, not just you know because they know rugby, but because it's an event.

jarrod_dyke: Oh, interesting.

jarrod_dyke: It is. And, you know, we, I'd say for the most part, as a community, we do a good job of trying to get other people to come into the event, whether it's, you know, our, our players that we're coaching or our friends or our family or whatever it is.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm. Right.

jarrod_dyke: And I'd say for the most part, the people that have come in that I brought that weren't rugby people wanna go back and a couple of them have, so.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: I will every that's. Yeah, it's it's been a bit because the games have been now close to sellouts, if not sellouts. But every single time we've ever interacted with someone at at a freejax match who's like, this is my first time seeing rugby. They've always been like, oh, I'm coming back. This is, you know, this there's stuff to do. all You know, watch the game. The game's great. But there's other other stuff like my kids can come like.

jarrod_dyke: Mm hmm.

Grumpy Old Prop: That's the way it should be, and they're building something here. They're going to have to expand for Quincy. um

jarrod_dyke: Build the stands across across the way there.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: Just saying, put it in the stands.

Grumpy Old Prop: Although I guess make sure that there's some sort of air conditioning because again, the couple that got their upgrade, they were back right after halftime.

jarrod_dyke: Oh, I know.

Grumpy Old Prop: They're like, it was a fucking sauna over there.

jarrod_dyke: It's so hot over there. Yeah, that well, because the the tents are great idea. I love the idea of just having they got it.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: They got to make it a little more permanent, honestly, because it's hard to, you know, to

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm. I guess.

jarrod_dyke: climate control, that type of thing.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, there's no air movement or something. and Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: It really is. So, uh, you know, sucks, but Hey, they were, they were over there for a bit and they're like, yeah, all right, this is nice. I'm I'm out.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm -hmm.

jarrod_dyke: Uh, shit. Okay. Moving to our next part, because we're going to try and wrap this up in a semi timely fashion, the fantasy in this, uh, I, we don't, well, first of all, we, I don't have everything for fancy PWR.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm -hmm. Now we can go past this. We don't have to talk about it.

jarrod_dyke: I've put together some stuff, but there's. a corrupted file for one round and we don't have another round.

Grumpy Old Prop: Ooh.

jarrod_dyke: So hopefully we hear it here back from him.

Grumpy Old Prop: OK.

jarrod_dyke: Um, I can tell you that for round 18, uh, Duncan had 71 points. So he's probably moving up on that one.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yikes.

jarrod_dyke: Yep. So good on him. Um, but still working on it. I will definitely put it out there once I have the final tally. Uh, thank you all for being patient and make sure that you tell your friends to come play with us next year. And then for our Champions League, um, first of all, congratulations to our good friend, George. Well done, sir.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yay.

jarrod_dyke: Well done, sir. That, that was a very deserved championship for him. Um, one, the, um, rugby world cup, Subaru, uh, middle of the pack on the, on the official app, um, third in six nations, third in champions cup, one super rugby, um, FRD. And then what else do you do? I don't think I'm missing one. Oh, I'm missing the super. I'd be super real, but it's not going to matter.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm.

jarrod_dyke: Um, it's not that much. Um, I'm gonna go back and look, but any case it's yeah, unless George got freaking absolutely whacked, which I don't think he did. Um, but yeah, he was middle of the pack for premier ship, which was hard to eat, but you know, for the most part, still pretty good.

jarrod_dyke: Talk to you later. Go away. Hopefully they have the last year's results. Let's see, tournaments.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah, there we go. It's there still. Note this. So let's see. I know I got my butt kicked in that one.

Grumpy Old Prop: Heh.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah, George finished. Yeah. Mill the pack again and super and super rugby, super brew. But I don't think that's enough to lose his spot. No, because it would be have to be a stew and stew didn't do all that much better. They only finish one spot in front of them. So yep, it's George. So well done to George. I appreciate you. Yeah. So that he's now on the list with Anton, Ben, myself, and and and he's now the fourth on that.

Grumpy Old Prop: Hm.

jarrod_dyke: Alex, our old friend Alex, Alex is gonna be promoted to division one.

Grumpy Old Prop: Nice for Alex.

jarrod_dyke: So good good and for Alex, really just dominated D2, second in the in the rugby, both rugby world cups, one, six nations, um middle of the pack for champions cup, third for third for super rugby FRD, one premiere ship like one. So yeah, was up there for a few things. So good on him. Yep. He's got it. So he is our, he's our champion. He will be promoted. Ben, you're going to get to keep track of D two next year for us because Ben's going to be in division two next year.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yay.

jarrod_dyke: It wasn't your strongest. You didn't start off well in the, in the, in the world cup.

Grumpy Old Prop: No.

jarrod_dyke: And it just, unfortunately it didn't get any better.

Grumpy Old Prop: It really didn't. I had a pretty poopier. It's almost like I was distracted by something.

jarrod_dyke: It happens. I know, right? Well, that's, that's definitely my excuse for the super rugby, super group performance I put in.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: It was bad. It was not very good.

Grumpy Old Prop: Perfect.

jarrod_dyke: The only ones that didn't lose suit were Justin and Duncan.

Grumpy Old Prop: but

jarrod_dyke: And I think Justin had himself for a pretty poo year as well. So, um, but yeah, Alex, you're gonna, you're going to be joining us next year and we'll, uh, we'll make sure we and invite our our good friend Alex to to the chat and we'll enjoy him.

Grumpy Old Prop: I'm not leaving the chat though.

jarrod_dyke: No, you're not.

Grumpy Old Prop: yeah

jarrod_dyke: No, you're not. I wouldn't ask you to. Wouldn't ask you to appreciate it. Just the same. Okay. That leaves us to our end of the year wrap up. Um, so first of all, obviously the people that have interacted with us on Twitter over the years and interacted with us via email and Patreon and just, you know, thank you so much to all of you that make it so we don't feel like we're doing absolutely nothing.

jarrod_dyke: when We come onto this, do this shit. I like doing this anyway, but like it it almost feels like it's you know worth the time and energy because it is time and energy.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

jarrod_dyke: And trust me, yeah, there were so days where I was just like, ah okay, I can do it. And um the fact that you all are very, very much into it is, is very helpful to us. Um, But so anyway, we appreciate you guys for for doing it. know it's it's it it does mean It does mean something to us when you guys are doing this.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm.

jarrod_dyke: So thank you very much to everyone that does it. and but Even if you just simply like or share something to us, like thank you so much.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah, just gonna name a couple. Stu, Ed.

jarrod_dyke: Others do, Kevin, Mark, Duncan, Alex, those are our Patreons. So I wanted to give them a special shout. So thank you. And anybody that had subscribed but has has since left us, we we don't take it hard. We we appreciate you for being here. However brief a time you were, it's okay.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yep.

jarrod_dyke: we don't take it We don't take it to heart.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm hmm.

jarrod_dyke: So thank you to them. Thank you to PWR, Patricia's Women Rugby for giving us the stats so we could do this fantasy league that we were doing. and Yeah. If you can't do it, if no one else is going to do it, do yourself type of shit like George said. So we appreciate that. And everyone that's doing that, um you know, and yeah, and obviously we appreciate doubly our our champion league, league groups like those are those are what help us with this fancy silly fancy thing that we like to do with this whole thing. um So we appreciate them and for doing that. And then, you know, of course,

jarrod_dyke: and We have to doubly acknowledge our better halves this year because if in case any of you forgotten, Ben and I have learned that both now dads.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: So and they are obviously superheroes for what they do. And, you know, people that people ask me, well, how'd you guys, you know, do with the first couple? Because I because I I work for myself. So I had to go back to work kind of earlier than I you normally would have.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: And, you know, well, how'd you handle it? Well, it And, and, and I coached the high school season on top of that.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

jarrod_dyke: So, you know, people ask, well, how'd you do it all? I was like, I had a super hero for our partner.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yep.

jarrod_dyke: Like, I don't know what tells to tell you. Um, so yeah, she was, she was amazing, obviously. And, um, so we think our, we think our better has for, um, allowing us to be stupid in, in this hour to hour and a half that we have to, that we have on this and, um, whatever time it takes us to do other things, otherwise for this as well.

Grumpy Old Prop: Indeed.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah, blowing off some steam is is super helpful for us. So, um you know, it's it's been nice to have that, you know, have the the patience of of a partner who who gets that and gives us the time to do that. So, absolutely thanks to Catherine and Jess for for their patience with us, you know, above and beyond their normal the level of patience.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah.

Grumpy Old Prop: but

jarrod_dyke: Yeah, absolutely. If you want, I mean, if you want to hear there. their insights into us being really stupid. You can go back to the 200th episode last year.

Grumpy Old Prop: Mm

jarrod_dyke: It was like one of the last episodes of the year and they are, they are on that with us. So it's, um, it's certainly a good listen for, and for a laugh. That's for sure. You guys hear what they think of us being this stupid there. That's there. It's there, but, um, and, you know, of course, you know, um, thanks to my, my good friend Ben here for, going on this crazy ride with me when I decided one day to just call them out blankly an in an early episode.

Grumpy Old Prop: hmm. Yep. Once again, it was as soon as, you know, Jared had been talking about it. And one day he's like, hey, check this out and send me a link. And I'm like, OK, well, I like I even listen to it. I'm like, OK, I can this isn't bad. He obviously needs a second person.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah, it's hard. It was hard the first time.

Grumpy Old Prop: All right.

jarrod_dyke: ah

Grumpy Old Prop: All right.

jarrod_dyke: first few episodes. I think they're somewhere in the ether at this point. I don't think they actually exist on the internet right now. um They're somewhere out there. But man, those first like three to four episodes. Whoo. They were hard.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah.

jarrod_dyke: How many times I had to hit re record on some of those things a lot.

Grumpy Old Prop: But yeah, but it's come a long way. And and um just ah i as Jared can attest, I've been cooking up some ideas for for next year.

jarrod_dyke: Yes.

Grumpy Old Prop: um So spoiler alert, or for format, you know, obviously, we're we're not changing our format may may slightly alter.

jarrod_dyke: yes

Grumpy Old Prop: um And we'll see where it goes.

jarrod_dyke: Yeah. Well, we want to evolve. We don't want to sit there and stay the same. Even sorry.

Grumpy Old Prop: Right.

jarrod_dyke: I know change is hard for some people, but, um,

Grumpy Old Prop: If nothing else, yeah. yeah if If nothing else, i kind of you know what we we we I want to have some some different type of conversation. So we'll see where it goes.

jarrod_dyke: definitely

jarrod_dyke: um so with that, we are going to say, audios to everyone ah out here. Again, we thank you all. Go watch the Olympics. Watch Alona Maher be awesome as her usual self.

Grumpy Old Prop: Yeah. Yes.

jarrod_dyke: Go watch more rugby and we'll see you guys back in the fall for the premier ship kickoff everyone. Have a good one.

Grumpy Old Prop: Love you guys, later.

jarrod_dyke: Cheers.
