Introduction and Purpose

00:00:02
Speaker
Hello, hello. It is Tuesday. It's March 25th, 2025. And you're here with Robin at In the Family Way Coaching. We're here for our daily Bible reading.
00:00:15
Speaker
We are reading through the entire Bible this year using the Day by Day Kids Bible. And this has been written by Karen Henley. If you are new to this event and you are just finding it, don't be discouraged that this is a kid's Bible.
00:00:28
Speaker
This is simply a very easy to understand, condensed version of the Bible where we have the big overview story from Genesis to Revelation. It's also been written in chronological order, so we have one continuous storyline rather than reading about the same event in multiple times in different books.

Bible Reading Plan and Resources

00:00:49
Speaker
That can lead to a little bit of confusion as to what exactly happened and when. And this Bible really makes it easy for us to understand God's big picture. So thank you so much for joining me, whether you are finding me on video or whether you are just listening along on your favorite podcast.
00:01:07
Speaker
I am so glad that God has led you here. We are reading through the Psalms, and we will get to that in just a few minutes. But first, before we do that, we don't want to forget it's time to take out our calendar for the day.
00:01:20
Speaker
If you have a day account calendar, then go ahead and take that out. Get that sticker ready, because you're about to hear the Bible today. i have my sticker on there today.
00:01:31
Speaker
We are almost to the end of this month, and I do want to let everybody know, it's been a little bit since I mentioned it, that I have a downloadable calendar available for you for free on my website, and you can find that. I will also have that in the description, the link for that in the description.
00:01:50
Speaker
But you can find that at
00:01:58
Speaker
And up at the top, you will see a tab that says, Read the Bible in One Year. If you click on that tab, then you will see that it will take you directly to the calendar page. If you would like to listen or watch this daily event from my site, you can then skip down below that.
00:02:16
Speaker
where I have the video ah entries and the audio audio files there for you to listen to. So it doesn't track you or anything. So if if you don't like to have your number counted or you just are checking it out, feel free to head over to the site and they're all right there and they're ready for watching or listening to.

Eco-friendly Materials and Support

00:02:36
Speaker
I also have an option on my site that if you feel that you would like to support this event, if you click on the heading of ah part of the family, I have what are called memberships available for you to support this event.
00:02:50
Speaker
And I also am having a live event. And that ah is also, um that's called tiered pricing on that. So you have the option to support the event with a membership, or you can register. You don't even have to attend.
00:03:05
Speaker
But if you wanted to ah support the event with a different amount than what I have listed on there for the so in part of the family, then you could technically register for the live event and just not attend, and there you can submit any amount, including a zero, if you wanted to just attend the live event.
00:03:24
Speaker
It's not a required payment ah so event, but it does give you the ah way to support the event in um in your own way rather than a specific amount that I have already ah set up there on the website.
00:03:38
Speaker
If you do decide that you would like to support the event, then I will send you a copy of that downloadable calendar so that you don't need to print it out. And I don't know if you can tell, but it's a little bit beige.
00:03:49
Speaker
And that's because I use sugar cane paper. So there are no trees. And it's beige also because there is no bleach going into the environment.

Personal Story and Reflection

00:03:57
Speaker
And I'm conscientious about that. So this is a lovely thick paper, and I will also send you a a set of stickers for the month, those gold foil crosses, so that you can mark off your daily commitment if you decide that you would like to support the event.
00:04:13
Speaker
That is my giving back to you as well. So let's go ahead and get going. We are reading the Psalms today. And let me tell you, I have some personal application today because do you remember i was telling you, if you have been around a little bit, you may have heard me mention ah that I was having difficulty with my refrigerator and my husband and I worked on it and we replaced a part and then we received a new part, a secondary part because the repairman said we needed two.
00:04:45
Speaker
one of which was no longer available. It's a discontinued item. So we were able to find the part ah for like $40 on eBay. So we got that part and I stuck it in there on Saturday and my refrigerator is still not functioning properly.
00:05:03
Speaker
So i was i had was trying to look for God's guidance and initially as to whether do I get a new refrigerator? Do we repair this one? It's always cheaper to keep her. and God knows that if I didn't at least try, then i would always wonder, oh, maybe I should have just tried to fix it.
00:05:24
Speaker
And then I would have felt guilty for just going out and getting a new refrigerator. Not sure that that was what he had wanted me to do. So the fact that we got both parts installed and it still didn't work, and these were the two items that the repairman said we needed.
00:05:40
Speaker
Then i was spending yesterday looking for um how to diagnose it, because I know the guy was doing something with it when he was pushing buttons.
00:05:51
Speaker
So I was trying to find a diagnostic tool and that's where it came up with that there's a combination of buttons that you can press, much like a video game controller when you're in certain games where you so you can do special moves.
00:06:03
Speaker
ah The only reference I have for that is like Street Fighter, but that's way old. And there were like all these, you know, special combination up, down, left, right, A, B, click, you know, this, this, this, do all of these things. And then you get to do this move on the video game.
00:06:18
Speaker
And I was never good at doing the special moves. and But I was researching how to put the refrigerator into diagnostic mode then because I found that there is a diagnostic mode for the refrigerator.
00:06:30
Speaker
So I was like, oh, this is great. I won't have to have the repairman come back out. I'll just be able to stick it in diagnostic mode. It's like taking your car down to the auto parts center, ah like the auto zone where they have the free check engine light reader.
00:06:43
Speaker
And I'll be able to just read my code and see what it's telling me. Is it the computer piece that's bad? Then I was worried we installed the defrost her incorrectly. ah Even though it's really not that hard, I thought well maybe we messed it up.
00:06:59
Speaker
You know, no matter what, I could not get it to go into diagnostic mode. And then when, as I was researching how to do it, there were a couple of different options based upon model number.
00:07:10
Speaker
So I thought, okay, I don't know exactly which model number I have, but I am trying all of them. I knew my model number, but I couldn't find exactly which set of special buttons you had to press in which order.
00:07:23
Speaker
Cause some of them were the ice maker reset. Some of them were the accelerize buttons. And then there was a press and hold the lock button. You always had to have the power. but Some of them had the power button involved. There was... You had to press the the refrigerator and freezer buttons, but there's actually four of those and they don't tell you which one to press.
00:07:39
Speaker
So I was like, ah! So I actually called the Sears Parts Center and said, hey, can you guys help me by telling me what combination of events do I need to press in order to run the diagnostic mode?
00:07:53
Speaker
And the guy walked me through it and it still wouldn't go into diagnostic mode.
00:08:00
Speaker
So you know what that tells me? God doesn't want me to diagnose the refrigerator. The guy on the phone's going, ma'am, you just need to press these buttons. And I'm going, sir, I am pressing these buttons.
00:08:14
Speaker
So these Psalms are very applicable for me today. That is why I am telling you, not only to tell you that God is still involved in my refrigerator, but that even the Psalms are applicable for me today.
00:08:29
Speaker
So today, We are going to read a couple of different Psalms. One, two, three, four Psalms, it looks like.
00:08:41
Speaker
And the first one is called Wake Up the Morning. Now remember, these don't actually have titles in the Big Bible. These are titles that Karen Henley has given them. And she's done a beautiful job giving the Psalms titles, don't you think?
00:08:55
Speaker
This is Psalm 108, and it's written by David. My heart will stay with you, God. I will sing. will make music with all my soul.
00:09:07
Speaker
Wake up, harp. I will wake up the morning. i will praise you, God. Your love is higher than the sky. Be praised above the sky.
00:09:20
Speaker
Show your greatness over all the earth. Help us with your strong right hand. when the people you love Then the people you love will
00:09:32
Speaker
God spoke from his home. I will measure out the land. It is my helmet. It is my washing bowl. I toss my shoe on it.
00:09:42
Speaker
I shout over it. Help us win over our enemies. People's help isn't good for anything. we all We will win with God's help.
00:09:55
Speaker
He will get rid of our enemies.
00:10:00
Speaker
So many times, like when I was working with my husband after his stroke, I kept asking for people to help me. And I was frustrated because God said, no, it's going to be you and me.
00:10:13
Speaker
And that was because i that's the way he wanted it. he People told me my husband couldn't be helped. People told me he would never get better. Nobody else seemed to be available. Nobody was interested.
00:10:25
Speaker
i couldn't get anybody to help me. Do you know what? I won with God's help. My husband won with God's help. God alone guided me and told me to do things.
00:10:39
Speaker
And my husband is able to do things now and work and go back to work and read and function. And he's better now than he was before.
00:10:51
Speaker
And we did that with God's help, not with people's help. when people are are discouraging and they say, there's nothing you can do about that. God says, nothing is impossible with me.
00:11:04
Speaker
With man, this is impossible. But with God, all things are possible.
00:11:13
Speaker
The next Psalm is Psalm 121. My eyes look up. Now, as I started to read this, it took me a moment and I went, wait a moment, I've read this before.
00:11:26
Speaker
And then i was like, wow, it's just because it's a little bit paraphrased. It's not exactly. These are, what do we call paraphrase? They're written easier to understand. That's what paraphrased means is to write something in a little, or to say something in a little different way so that it's easier to understand.
00:11:46
Speaker
And I used to have this song memorized. This was one of my favorites. So it was really special for me to read this one today. And one of the things that I do, as I mentioned in the first day that we had Psalms, is that I will change the words that are he and you two to God, to to you.
00:12:13
Speaker
Instead of it being he, i change it to you so that I'm speaking to God. And if it says like you or ah for like just people in general, I will make that me I won't do that the first time.
00:12:27
Speaker
I'll just read it the way that it's it's written. My eyes look up to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from God.
00:12:39
Speaker
He made heaven and earth. God will

Finding Peace and God's Guidance

00:12:43
Speaker
not let you trip and fall. He watches over you. He never goes to sleep.
00:12:51
Speaker
God is the shade at your right hand. The sun won't hurt you in the daytime. The moon won't hurt you at night. God will keep you safe.
00:13:03
Speaker
God will watch over you when you go out. He will watch over you when you come in. He will watch over you now and forever.
00:13:15
Speaker
I love that one. So I'm going to reread that one again. I'm going to change it so that it's personal. And I encourage you, whenever you're reading the Psalms, to modify them to your situation.
00:13:27
Speaker
That's exactly what I did today. When I was frustrated with the refrigerator and the fact that I couldn't even get it to go into diagnostic mode. Oh, I'll tell you about that when I get to one of these next ones here.
00:13:41
Speaker
I was praying these Psalms because I was like, I know you're with me, God. I know you're directing me. was sure that I was doing what you wanted me to do. And he was honoring me because he knows that I would always regret and wonder and feel guilty if I had not at least tried to fix that refrigerator before deciding that we needed to get a new one.
00:14:08
Speaker
My eyes look up to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from you, God. You made heaven and earth.
00:14:20
Speaker
You will not let me trip and fall. You watch over me. You never go to sleep. You are my shade at my right hand.
00:14:31
Speaker
The sun won't hurt me in the daytime. The moon won't hurt me at night. You will keep me safe. You will watch over me when I come in.
00:14:43
Speaker
You will watch over me when I go out. You watch over me now and forever.
00:14:54
Speaker
I love that Psalm. That's my favorite.
00:14:58
Speaker
God watches over us. He never sleeps. There is nothing we can't take to him. Even this refrigerator.
00:15:11
Speaker
Show me the way. Psalm 143 by David.
00:15:18
Speaker
Hear my prayer, God. Help me because you do what is right. You keep your promises. Please don't judge me. No one is as good as you.
00:15:29
Speaker
The enemy chases me. He pushes me to the ground. So my spirit is not strong anymore. And my heart is afraid. I hold my hands out to you.
00:15:40
Speaker
My soul is thirsty for you. Answer me quickly, God. Don't hide your face. If you do, i will be like a person lost. When the morning comes, let me hear about your love that does not end.
00:15:54
Speaker
Show me the way I should go. Save me from my enemies. You are a safe place where I can hide. Teach me to do what you want, for you are my God.
00:16:06
Speaker
I pray that your good spirit will lead me on smooth ground. Save my life, God, because of who you are. Bring me out of this trouble.
00:16:18
Speaker
Because you do what's right, your love never fails.
00:16:25
Speaker
I prayed this about my refrigerator today.
00:16:30
Speaker
Today, my enemy was my refrigerator. It sounds funny, doesn't it? But i I read this psalm and I said, Lord, today, my enemy is my refrigerator.
00:16:43
Speaker
So let me read to you this psalm again, how I prayed it today.
00:16:50
Speaker
Hear my prayer, God. Help me because you do what is right. You keep your promises. You don't judge me. No one is as good as you.
00:17:02
Speaker
The enemy chases me. He pushes me to the ground so my spirit is not strong anymore. My heart is afraid that I have done the wrong thing.
00:17:14
Speaker
I hold my hands out to you and my soul is thirsty for you. Answer me quickly, God. Don't hide your face. If you do, i am like a person who is lost about this.
00:17:26
Speaker
When the morning comes, let me hear about your love that does not end and show me the way I should go about this refrigerator. Save me from this refrigerator.
00:17:39
Speaker
Show me the way I should go. Do I buy a new refrigerator? Do I buy another part? You are a safe place. Teach me what you want.
00:17:52
Speaker
For you are my God, and I pray that your good spirit will lead me.
00:17:58
Speaker
Save me from this refrigerator, God, because of who you are. Bring me out of this trouble about this refrigerator because you do what's right and your love never fails me.
00:18:13
Speaker
So today my enemy was my refrigerator and I was asking God to show me what to do about this refrigerator. So I want you to be encouraged to that whatever it is that is bothering you, whatever is your enemy, it could be your car repair,
00:18:31
Speaker
It could be a bill. It could be something that's just broken and just you can't figure it out. Whatever the difficulty is, that's your enemy at the moment. That's what you're struggling with. That's what you're fighting against is what do I do about this thing?
00:18:46
Speaker
Don't be afraid to let that be your enemy and tell God about it. God told me you cannot get into diagnostic mode because you're not meant to. You've done the bit and let me show you where to go.
00:19:02
Speaker
And I said, okay, then that's just the thing that needed to lead me to where I was supposed to be.
00:19:12
Speaker
Thank you, God. Thank you for saving me from this refrigerator.
00:19:22
Speaker
This one is appropriate here. Shoot your arrows, Psalm 144 by David. by david Praise God. He teaches my hands to fight.
00:19:34
Speaker
He is my loving God. He saves me. He is a guard for me. I go to him to be safe. God, why should you care about people?
00:19:46
Speaker
People are like a breath of air. Their days are like shadows that fade. Open the sky, God, and come down. Touch the mountains and make them smoke.
00:19:58
Speaker
Send flashes of lightning out. Shoot that refrigerator.
00:20:03
Speaker
Shoot your arrows and make your enemies run. Reach down your hand and save me. You reached down your hand and you saved me. Save me from strangers who lie.
00:20:17
Speaker
Then our young one our young sons will be like healthy plants. And our daughters will be beautiful like posts that make a palace pretty. We will have thousands of sheep in our fields.
00:20:29
Speaker
Our oxen will be strong. No one will break through our walls. There will be no trouble in our streets. Then the people will be happy. Good things come when God is their Lord.
00:20:45
Speaker
Amen. Good things come to people when God is their Lord.
00:20:53
Speaker
I love that one because that one was more of a praise one and and I sure needed that.
00:21:03
Speaker
So this one, it it's just this wonderful praise. He is a guard for me. I go to him to be safe. He is your guard. Go to him to be safe. Take everything that you are troubled by God.
00:21:17
Speaker
These Psalms, we've completed this section. this These Psalms were in the section entitled, Psalms for Times of Trouble.
00:21:27
Speaker
And I certainly had a little bit of trouble, and I'm sure you have some kind of trouble that that you can take to God too. And I hope that you have felt that God has lit your light today with these Psalms.
00:21:38
Speaker
I know he definitely lit my light

Encouragement and Community Support

00:21:40
Speaker
today. So whereas I was stressed out and frustrated and getting irritated with this ridiculous refrigerator, Now I have peace. And hopefully in the next couple of days, I'll have a refrigerator that actually keeps my food cold so I don't have to keep putting everything in the freezer.
00:21:58
Speaker
Thank you so much for joining me today. I hope that you have found today's psalms to be applicable. One of the things that I wanted to do with this event is to make sure that I share how God is using them in my life.
00:22:11
Speaker
And so that's what these psalms have focused on today, so that you can see just how me, a regular person, is able to use these psalms in my life. Because we can think of the psalms as its just being songs and and it's hard to apply them. I know I have thought that before.
00:22:26
Speaker
But today they were my comfort. God saved me from my refrigerator. So if you feel that God has lit your light today, please click that light button and click follow and subscribe to the channel so that other people can see, hey, there's something good going on here.
00:22:43
Speaker
And that will light that will be the light that attracts people to this event so that they too can be encouraged and and have their faith grow in God. And together we are spreading the word about reading God's word.
00:22:57
Speaker
It is life changing. It has changed my life today. I hope you feel the same way. I hope everybody has a fantastic rest of their day, and I will be here again for everybody to- tomorrow.
