Belonging to God and Dedicating Resources

00:00:00
Speaker
I know that's a difficult proposition for some people who believe you only need to give in one day a week or you consider the rest of that time for yourself or you give God some of your increase but consider the rest to only be for your own self-satisfaction. And really that strange thinking where we consider the fact that The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof. We all belong to God and everything we have already belongs to Him. He knows that. but The question is, do we know that?
00:00:29
Speaker
ah We oftentimes find a picture of God where He's he's a harsh and ah troublesome and wants to punish and wants to ah to do terrible things, but that's not the God that we serve. The God that we serve is a loving God, and because He's a loving God, He's called us unto Himself to give us the opportunity. and to have access to Him so that He can bless us in His presence.

Theme for 2026: Complete Dedication to God

00:01:27
Speaker
Well, praise the Lord and welcome to Grace Talk. This is Apostle Elisha MassCortere. I'm a senior pastor of Grace Temple Church in Louisville, Kentucky, and we're thankful for you joining us in fellowship today in this podcast. Hope that it will bring fruit to your living and cause you to live a better life for Jesus Christ. Our theme for 2026 is going to be giving God our all.
00:01:51
Speaker
As we start the year off, we want to focus on the fact that we want to give God everything that is us. I know that's a difficult proposition for some people who believe you only need to give in one day a week, or you consider the rest of that time for yourself, or you give God some of your increase, but consider the rest to only be for your own self-satisfaction. And really that strange thinking where we consider the fact that The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof. We all belong to God and everything we have already belongs to him. He knows that. The question is, do we know that?
00:02:27
Speaker
but Those of us who are true believers, we understand that it's our privilege to give all that we are and all that we have back to our wonderful creator. And that includes our time and our possessions.

Integrating Spiritual Service in Daily Life

00:02:40
Speaker
That must begin, though, with a dedicated promise to give the Lord your whole day. And that's something I want to focus on in this year and as we go through is to consider every day, how do I give for that day back to the Lord? Yes, we have things that we need to do, things that we need to work on, things that We have to go to our jobs. We have, ah you know, secular things that we have to do. The question is, how do we give that time and that effort even to the Lord?
00:03:10
Speaker
Those of us who look to give God glory in everything we do and to please him in everything we do and say, amen, we're looking for the opportunities for all of those things to bless God. How do we bless the Lord? Our minds and our hearts have to be totally directed toward him.
00:03:26
Speaker
Even things like work and family time. Praise the Lord. Those things are focused on self-increase, but they must be for the benefit of being better servants to the Most High.
00:03:37
Speaker
So even our rest time is to recharge so we can get back at working for the Lord. In this, we stay connected to God and his purpose. Colossians chapter 3.
00:03:49
Speaker
Verse 23 tells us, and whatsoever ye do, I think that's definitive, and and that's inclusive of everything, praise the Lord, that you may do. So contrary to the way man looks at it, is that we give God certain things. But the scriptures tell us that in everything that the people of God do, everything that believers do that we should do it heartily. And even on our secular job, we should not do it as though we're serving those men or women on that job. But the scripture tells us, whatever you do, do it heartily as to the Lord and not unto men, knowing that of the Lord, you shall receive the reward of the inheritance for you serve

Starting the Day with God

00:04:33
Speaker
the Lord Christ. So even on our secular job, we ought to work diligently because we want God to be pleased with our effort.
00:04:41
Speaker
I think the English Standard Version says, do them for the Lord, do them as well as you can for him. So the best way that we can give God the whole day ah is to start the day with the Lord. We should commit to spend an early time communicating with God, sharing our requests for the day. And how it will remain in his will. In other words, Lord, how are you going to use me today?
00:05:07
Speaker
Put somebody in my path, somebody in my way that I could share the gospel with. How can I build the kingdom of the Most High in this day? Mark chapter one, verse 35 says, and in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out and departed into a solitary place and there prayed.
00:05:28
Speaker
And so we want to connect with God and start the day with God because we don't want to lose that focus by starting the day with a focus somewhere else. And then we never get back to God. Let's start with God and stay with God.
00:05:44
Speaker
That's a peaceful place. That's ah a place of blessing and a place of that where even in the midst of the world's torment and craziness is still a place of peace and a place where we're energized when we spend time with God.

Reflection on God's Love and Kindness

00:05:58
Speaker
It's there that God shows us his love and his kindness. My favorite scripture really reminds me that God is such a loving and a wonderful God. It reminds me that there's really nobody ah like him. Jeremiah 31 and 3 says, The Lord has appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love.
00:06:24
Speaker
Therefore, with loving kindness have I drawn thee. i have loved thee with an ever- lasting love. And it's because of that love that God draws us to himself. And so we oftentimes find a picture of God where he's he's ah harsh and ah troublesome and wants to punish and wants to ah to do terrible things. But that's not the God that we serve. The God that we serve is a loving God. And because he's a loving God, he's called us unto himself to give us the opportunity and to have access to him so that he can bless us in his presence.

Walking Wisely with Faith and Action

00:06:59
Speaker
And so Giving God the whole day means being prepared and careful how we walk, what we say and how we talk. We want every second to be productive for kingdom building. Ephesians chapter 5 verse 15 says, Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise, making the best use of the time because the days are evil. That may sound those strange as in the easy English version.
00:07:28
Speaker
Praise God. So how should we walk? That really comes down to the question as to to how should we walk and how should we conduct ourselves? and And I know there's a lot of debate about what the word requires and what the word does not require. But the the Bible tells us very clearly that we the standards of the Lord are defined in his word.
00:07:52
Speaker
And in fact, Romans chapter the three, verse 30 says, seeing it is one God. That's a whole nother message all in itself, because he's just one God. There are not multiple gods. There's one God who presents himself in different ways. And maybe one day we'll talk about that because we do believe that there's one God. We are not polytheistic. We're monotheistic because we believe there's only one God.
00:08:21
Speaker
Amen. he had ah his son, Jesus Christ, in the flesh was indwelled by the one God. And so he was all God. He was all man. That should not be up for debate or for question. Seeing it is one God which shall justify the circumcision by faith.
00:08:41
Speaker
and uncircumcision through faith, saying the same thing, that regardless of whether you're a natural Jew or whether you're a Gentile that's been converted, you still come to Christ. You still come to God by faith.
00:08:55
Speaker
We don't come to the Lord because ah of how we live or what we do. But the reality is, is that once we come to God by faith, our faith leads us into holy living. Praise the Lord. We can't say we have faith and there's no ah true works to go with that because faith without works is

Grace Through Christ and Upholding the Law

00:09:15
Speaker
dead. Verse 31 then tells us, and you can tell your neighbor where you are, that this is all New Testament scripture. Praise God. Verse 31 says, do we then make void the law through faith?
00:09:27
Speaker
In other words, because you have faith, then you do you no longer need the law? And the answer Paul gave to the church at Rome was, God forbid, yea, we establish the law. In other words, our faith comes to hold it up.
00:09:43
Speaker
Our faith comes to make the law of God immovable. Now, not talking about faith. yeah We'll take you out and stone you to get to death. Amen. The penalty of the law was nailed to the cross and was replaced by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ. Praise the Lord. But the definition of sin has not changed. What God does not like, God still does not like. What blesses God still blesses God because he's the same yesterday, today and forevermore and does not change. And, uh,
00:10:13
Speaker
But what he cares about, he will always care about. Amen. So I would encourage you to give the whole the Lord the whole day. It'll turn to your benefit. Amen. And the way to do that is to live according to God's plan in that day. And if we do, we will find joy in it. Where there is no focus on Christ, there's no joy. And where there's no joy, there can be no peace Praise the Lord in this terrible time that we're in, in these last, these evil days.

Experiencing Peace and Joy in Christ

00:10:44
Speaker
Praise the Lord. We can walk in the midst of it all. And because we have Christ on the inside, because we keep our mind stayed on him, we're able to stay in the peace of the Holy Spirit.
00:10:54
Speaker
Psalm 118 and 24 says, This is the day which the Lord hath made. We will. That's a declaration. Rejoice and be glad in it. And I want to tell you today, you can't take my peace. You can't take my joy. Praise the Lord. You can't oppress me. You can't bring me under subjection. Amen. Because he whom the Son set free is free indeed. And so I'm grateful to be in Christ today.
00:11:23
Speaker
And I would encourage you then to use the whole day. for the Lord. It won't wear you down. It'll build you up. Ultimately, we'll become better servants and live a more abundant life.

Daily Renewal in Christ

00:11:33
Speaker
Second Corinthians chapter four, verse 16 says, for which cause we faint not, but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
00:11:45
Speaker
And so we thank God today and I hope and pray that you're encouraged. I hope in god i hope in and pray today that you are ah strengthened for the journey that lies ahead, that you will hold on to your joy, not let the troubles of this life and the cares of this world, our people for that matter, take and destroy the joy that God gives you through the Holy Spirit that dwells on the inside, but rest in his peace, stay in his presence.
00:12:10
Speaker
live for Him and dwell with Him every day. Amen. God bless you. Grace and peace is our prayer.
