Weight Loss Drugs and Personal Stories

00:00:00
Speaker
I'm telling you, Sheila, these new drugs are pretty amazing. I was feeling so ashamed of myself, watching Randy go out and exercise all the time and not eating as much, but I just don't have the same kind of willpower he has. Which of the drugs are you on, Sharon? Osempic? Manjaro? Oh no, I talked to my doctor. He said insurance would only pay for those if I had diabetes. But if you can't afford them, then how are you managing your weight? Don't you know, Sheila? Now there's a whole new obesity drug for those of us who can't afford Ozimpik and Manjaro. I've controlled all my cravings to be thinner with Lissa.
00:00:37

FDA-approved Lizzo makes you feel good about your weight, and it costs 90% less, Little Zimpic. I've lowered my standards and my expectations. In case studies, 70% of patients on Lizzo no longer care how much they weigh. I don't give two shits! Lizzo helps you eat everything you want and keep physical activity to a minimum. Some patients report constipation while listening to Lizzo. Stop listening to Lizzo if you experience suicidal thoughts. Serious side effects may include pancreatitis, hypothermia, and literally shitting out your ears. Are you living with concerns of obesity? Ask about the power of not giving a fuck with Lizzo.
00:01:30
Speaker
It's poppin' Not a much man, not a much. I'm fired up. My chili is running hot tonight, my friend. My chili is running hot. I'm looking forward to talking about things like South Park, like, like the acolyte. We got two dope movies to talk about. Fire it up. Fuck Kyrie Irving. But we'll get to that next week. Yes. We were going to do a piece race sports. We're going to do it next week. Yes.
00:02:12
Speaker
Because there's some stuff going on with Tyree, I guess, and I don't understand it, and you're gonna teach me about it. My office are happening right now. Yes, they are. We're putting them in the finals, and we beat that motherfucker's ass last night. He's 0-1-11 since stomping on Lucky. 0-1-11, ya fuck. Sorry. We'll get to that next week. Kevin's literally getting it. Like I said, the children's running hot, and we're gonna try to calm down. Calm down. Breathe. Breathe, Kevin. We're gonna start off this week with a show and tell. Yes we are. So many geeky things that we could pull off from the show. We've been collecting shit for years and now we're whipping it out. So it's time to showcase all the money that we wasted well.
00:03:12
Speaker
I'll let you go first this week. All right. Well, I do not believe I have done this one.

Pop Culture and Hacked Games

00:03:18
Speaker
um Ray reminded me right before. So I brought in the old Die Hard Ultimate Visual History, which I believe you gifted me. Correct. I did too. Yeah. Yes. Christmas. Die Hard is a big thing for me for for Christmas. So Ray always hooks me up. But this has the entire visual history. It has scripts. It has ah hans Hans Gruber surveillance images. The whole book is fucking it's a great coffee table book. I love having it on my shelf. I flipped through it every time I watched Die Hard now since you got it for me. um So yeah, Die Hard. The ultimate visual history. I love books like that. I love art of books. I know Marvel has a whole series. I actually have every single book from the Marvel series.
00:04:00
Speaker
um You were missing a few at this point though, you finally got them all? I got them all. Before I lost her missing okay before i lost my job I decided to do two things. Bought all the art books and I also, I've talked about it on the podcast, I bought all the Mario and Zelda games. the solo games not the not i didn't buy like all the mario kart games i didn't buy the weird hyrule games i bought all the really have all the mario kart games anyways i don't think i do i don't have any i don't have 60 i don't have 64 i don't have snes okay the other the only mario game the only mario game i don't have is sunshine which i never even played that that was on the you never got that nope never got it
00:04:43
Speaker
um Fun one. So, i I'm at a point now where the collection is complete. What is your knowledge of ROMs? Did you used to do the ROMs back in the day when you download the games and play on the computer for the old games? Yep, and I have the hacked SNES, which is basically just ROMs. Okay. Well, I'm sure that this may be included then. A couple years ago, some guy took the Game Boy versions of Mario Land and Super Mario Land 6 Golden Coins and colorized them. and also added Luigi. I bought both of them in cartridge form with the cases. They are Game Boy play all game boy caller gameboard Color cartridges. their They're specialized blue cartridges. The first game I ever owned was for the Game Boy was Super Mario Land. It came with the console, I believe. That and Tetris came with it. Maybe Tetris, and then I bought that separate. I can't remember. Tetris came with it. Mario was separate.
00:05:41
Speaker
Yep, but yeah, I got Super Mario Land and Super Mario Land 2. Both colorized, both including Luigi, because both games didn't have Luigi in them. But yeah, looking at the graphics, if you go on YouTube and watch the videos of them, they are really, really cool. um and the And the audio has been fixed. There's also a There's a Super Nintendo version of Super Mario Land 1 that uses the characters of Super Mario, the new Super Mario Bros. and puts them into the Super Nintendo version, but it uses the audio and recreates the whole entire Super Mario Land nice in that style from the DS version.
00:06:19
Speaker
or the sort new super mario was it like we i guess um yes i do have those roms i don't have it with me i also got a back to the future game that was exclusive to i want to say japan but they americanized it because it wasn't in america it's super mario uh not super mario is uh back to the future part two but it's only exclusive in Japan and there's some really cool levels on it. Go on YouTube and search that too. That looks really cool. I got that for the, I got that cart too. Cause they released two and three as a combo cartridge in the United States, but it's a completely different game I'm assuming. Yeah, this is a completely different game. For some reason it didn't come out in the United States. They did the combo one over here, but yeah, um I haven't played any of these yet.
00:07:00
Speaker
but My favorite realm I ever downloaded was the updated No Mercy. This was in like probably 2016 or so with rosters from that that time and like they had like CM Punk on it and stuff like that and that was a lot of fun to play on the computer. But my issue was it it was weird playing that game with a PS4 controller. So like I played it probably for like a few hours. Then I was like, I can't do this. Like I just deleted it. And then, of course, Nintendo Switch came out and they came out with the N64 controller and then I couldn't find the ROM again because all the ROM sites had got shut down at that point. Right now, ROM is a big thing. It's on their iOS apps on the iPhone. Yeah. At one point, all the websites got like shut down like they went through and shut them all down. And I think now they're all coming back. And like you said, they're doing the iOS stuff.
00:07:47
Speaker
Yeah, it was big when I when we got right out of high school. This is like 2003 2004. They were huge back then. This is all the styles that everybody wanted to play their childhood again. Somebody modded the new 2K game. John Cena had the bald spot. but That's funny. I saw it online, I asked somebody if it was real, and they were like, no, that's a mod, but it's pretty funny. I'm like, yeah, it is. See, my collection, like I said, I have a few things. I'd like to get a couple of the Mario Kart games. like i don't I don't have like Paper Mario. I never played those games either, but... Oh, Paper Mario was cool. Yeah, i heard I heard it was. What we watched this week, we watched a lot of stuff. I didn't see Bad Boys today because I...
00:08:28
Speaker
I'm gonna tell you what I did. I'm gonna tell you what I did. So last week you gave me homework to watch the first episode of Dexter and see if you like it. Well, I did like it.

TV Shows and Social Commentary

00:08:39
Speaker
Oh, you watched it. Two seasons later, Kevin. That's what I've been busy with this week. I watched two seasons of Dexter. It's addicting, isn't it? Yes, it's addicting. I'm not finished with the second season. We'll take that back. I've got, I think, three episodes left, so I don't know exactly what's going on. It's the season where Dokes is. Dokes, oh yeah, yep. So yeah, right after we got off the pod last week, I watched the first episode, I watched the second episode, I watched the third episode. I thought you said you were going to wait until it comes back to Netflix or whatever. Well, no.
00:09:13
Speaker
That's the other thing, I signed up for Paramount Plus for the preview. Because I was complaining about it to you because you have to... The way the the way it works now with streaming, which sucks, they give you the they give you the ad they give you the ad-assisted version where you pay less, but you have the ads. What they don't tell you, and Netflix does this, Paramount does that, it also it doesn't include certain titles. For Netflix, there's certain newer movies, newer TV shows that aren't included in their cheaper planet. Did not know that. Same with Paramount+. plus All the Showtime stuff is not included. yeah So I paid, I'm already about a halfway through of my year subscription of that.
00:09:55
Speaker
Cause I'd get it through Walmart Plus. yep So they actually offer a premium now where you pay I think $60 a year so you get the Plus version with no commercials and you get the show time. So I did that last Friday and I signed up and I watched Dexter. I've been watching it ever since. It's looking good. I can't wait for you to get to season four. That's the season I really want to talk to you about. Yeah, i'll I'll be there by next week, for sure. Yeah, at this rate. Yeah, I've been watching it every day. Today, I think I watched four episodes. That's what I did today instead of seeing Bad Boys, which you did see. We're going to give a quick review on that. I'll do a quick review, quick spoiler-free review. But I did watch a lot of other stuff that you have seen, and we're going to get to that as well. um But the first thing's first, the South Park, the end of obesity special.
00:10:38
Speaker
It was epic episode very funny. I haven't watched a South Park a new South Park thing in a very very long time I'm way behind on that. I'm currently I'm currently watching behind for the show in the background type of show I'm currently trying to catch up on it's always sunny in Philadelphia right now That's why I'm at right now as far as half-hour comedies I probably will get into South Park again because I do like South Park. I like Family Guy too. I'm way behind in all that shit. I got behind. Life happened. But this is great. There's a lot of weird shit because I don't know what happened. I know Randy owns a pot farm now with Talley working in the barn. Were you at that point in the show?
00:11:19
Speaker
No, I wasn't. I'm way behind. Okay. Okay. Yes. I have no idea what's going on there. Um, okay. I think the last, the PE prints or the PC principle, I think it was the last yeah thing I saw. And that was what, probably 10, 15 years ago. And that still went on. That's, I think it's still going on. And then the pot farm was like four seasons ago, it started. And I think I watched like the first two seasons of the pot farm stuff where he's working. He he and Talia are like business partners. And and and i know there's I know there's a whole bunch of movies on Paramount+. plus This is one of them. ah This came out a couple weeks ago. um yeah Notable for social media and notable for that little, the Lizzo commercial I played in the beginning. yeah she did a She did a side-by-side reaction video of that online. It went viral. um Funny, very funny. I know a couple of people who are on Ozempic or on Majaro. Works a great for him.
00:12:11
Speaker
I think this did a great job talking about that, and talking about it is a diabetic drug. um it's for It's for diabetes, and it's being abused by Hollywood, being abused by people who don't necessarily need it, and the people that actually need it are not getting the medicine. so Right. They're using a weight loss, which is the whole point of the show. Well, the problem is the rich people are going in and promoting it for weight loss, pulling it away from the people that actually needed it just to survive and to live. right um and it it lowers blood It lowers blood sugar and stuff. It's it's a good drug. It's just it's being abused for the wrong reasons from certain people. And I've seen some incredible results. A friend of ours is looking fantastic because she's on it.
00:12:56
Speaker
um very funny and of course Cartman's the fat kid in South Park and he dreams about being thin and and and taking away this power of everyone who makes fun of him in school
00:13:12
Speaker
It's very funny little daydreams that he has throughout the episode. There's one point where he's trying to test the medicine. So he starts making cereal bombs, which is KFC chicken with a whole bunch of different cereals in it. And he puts a milk in there at the very bottom of it. He has chicken milk. This sounds gross. It looks gross. Every time he does it, he's like, I only, I only ate half of it. I'm doing better. I'm doing better. um There's also a great thing in this where the breakfast cereal snack cake mascots all form an alliance to attack to attack big pharma There's one point where they go to a pharmacy in India and attack them like with a kamikaze like ah Force and just destroy and and explode and destroy the whole entire it's a great episode I haven't seen South Park in a long time
00:14:00
Speaker
So I wasn't sure what I was going to expect. South Park got very weird when certain things started happening. Like when Mr. Garrison had a sex change operation, that was very strange. Especially when they showed the actual footage of an operation happening. It wasn't the fact that it was the operation, it was the blood and guts and I don't like that shit. so um Overall was good if you're into South Park go watch it's on Paramount Plus It's weird because all the seasons of South Park are on max But all the new movies are on Paramount Plus. So i yeah, knows and and I guess and rear season it's like what like is going on with like Yellowstone like
00:14:36
Speaker
Yeah, some of it's on peacock, but like the day after is on like Paramount or something. I don't know what's going on with that, but it's in the air. Air is on air. It's on NBC. OK, I thought it was on NBC and Paramount the app, but only past seasons are on peacock or something like that. That's weird. It's very strange, very weird. Streaming is weird. It's getting convoluted and watered down. It's because he got the deal after like season two. Did you all spin offs and shit like that? And I think the deal was through Paramount and so not through Peacock. I think that's why. Yeah.
00:15:10
Speaker
Um, so, what else do we watch? We watch the Acolyte. Two episode premiere came out on Disney Plus. This is a, yeah, pretty good. This is a so this is a Star Wars show, 100 years before the fall of the Republic and all the stuff that happens in Phantom Menace. Um, the first episode we see the Trade Federation returning, and we meet in this episode two, ah two so a set of twins, two kids. Who are One is kind of retired from the from the jedi Working in the outer rim. Yeah, it just didn't work out for her basically like she didn't retire She just it didn't work out and the other one is a long-lost Sith or she we think it's Sith We haven't really heard that word yet, but there's a there's a red lightsaber involved So we're guessing this is the infancy of the Sith. That's what this whole show is about supposedly um but she is working to
00:16:03
Speaker
Kind of kill the Jedi that that destroyed her something happened in the past. We're not sure what that is yet in this yeah first two episodes Overall, I guess about the Sith is that maybe by the end like this is her training and at the end She becomes a second Sith creating the rule of two. Yeah, um maybe that could be it because she doesn't have a lightsaber or anything She uses knives and a lot of people were complaining about that They complain about everything Star Wars nowadays. yeah um yeah they like They complained about the the fire in space, even though that was in the original Star Wars. right um People just like to complain ever, basically ever since the last Jedi. um People just find stupid things to complain about. And the thing is, like yeah it's Twitter. and like
00:16:44
Speaker
Star Wars isn't sci-fi, it's science fantasy. there's That's a completely different thing. Star Wars is closer to Game of Thrones than it is to Doom, technically. on that like it's It's fantasy levels of sci-fi, it's not fiction though, it's it's science fantasy. so it's like You can get away with a lot more, but now people are just because everyone's on Twitter and want to bitch about literally everything that comes out. Yeah, they hate it for whatever reason. And so wars also for the for the record has been woke since the very first episode in the show. So in the movie. So right. Exactly. um We do see a lord in the shadow, like a Sith Lord or somebody, a hooded figure with a mask in the shadows in the at very end of the first episode. Mm hmm.
00:17:28
Speaker
Speculation that could be anybody I've always thought that this show is a setup for dark plate Darth Plagueis who is mentioned in in episode 3 as the as the As a master of of Palpatine before he becomes the master um I'm guessing this is a setup for that is it doesn't make sense The only other thing we haven't seen yet is who was it on the Jedi Jedi Council? I think episode 3 we're gonna see what's going on with that a little bit more. We'll get into that in a minute um Episode 2 we see a lot of kung-fu influence the lead of this show is the star of Squid Game. He was a japanese he's a Japanese-Chinese... I don't know what Squid Game is. Japanese. He learned English in six weeks. He learned English in six weeks because... Just play this role. And he bases his character on Qui-Gon. Qui-Gon, yeah. At the very end of that episode, kind of a ah teaser, we see a Wookiee Jedi Master.
00:18:20
Speaker
Um, we're not sure where that's going to lead. We don't really know where this show is going. This is all new, brand new territory for Star Wars, which is good. I guess. Um, yeah we're always complaining about having the same old Skywalker stuff happening. So this is kind of new, kind of great, kind of exciting, different, different, different times, same world. So it's it's very cool. Same dynamic. Um, looking forward to this comes out on a Disney plus every week, I think on Tuesday nights on prime time. So that's pretty cool. Yeah, um I don't know if you had a chance to watch this I hope you did if you didn't know I think you should and Jim has an idea man

Legacy of Jim Henson

00:18:54
Speaker
ah Very good. Very good documentary. It's on my run hour. So yeah, you're yeah, it's very good Didn't know Muppets the name of Muppets were a combination of puppets and marionettes at the time you think about it Everything was a marionette. I mean every every old-school puppet was a marionette. I Yeah, so it's really cool how that happened his first his first Muppet that he made was Kermit. He used to do it on like today's show. He stood on local television. ah Jim Henson. He was the original. um He met Frank Oz when Frank Oz was 17 years old. He was in his early 20s and they became friends and they worked together ever since up until his death.
00:19:32
Speaker
um Sesame Street was a co-creation with the television workshop. I not don't know about you, but Sesame Street was huge in my early early childhood um yeah Of course with that he created Big Bird Oscar the Grouch Cookie Monster the Count Grover Burton Ernie was actually voiced by him and Frank Oz He created both characters both of them use basically their real-life personalities um where Burt was more like Burt was more like Frank Oz and Ernie was more like Jim Henson Kind of wild ah flamboyant um The Muppet show it was kind of the answer to the variety show craze and the Kara Burnett show Saturday Night Live started at that time in the mid 70s the Muppet show was a it was a
00:20:20
Speaker
ah Call to arms for that kind of and the whole the whole show they were having a hard time picking it up It ended up they ended up shooting it in the UK And they had a lot of guest stars on there every episode had one human guest star. Everybody else is a muppet Very cool show one of my favorites growing up. um It was his passion project um hit primetime it was for more of a teenage and Adult audience where where Sesame Street was for the kids um a distance a distance him from Sesame Street um And of course iconic characters Fauzi bear gonzo miss piggy came from this show animal the Swedish chef beaker miss mr. Dr Bunsen honeydew Rolf the old guys in the balcony Stadler and Waldorf Iconic them up his show
00:21:07
Speaker
The Muppet movie another spin-off from that the rainbow connection was a huge song in that plays the part in this documentary to Dark crystal I've never seen but the labyrinth I have seen that was produced by George Lucas starring David Bowie another classic um And then in the 80s he started the Jim Hansen Creature Shop, the beginning of animatronics that kind of started there. um He did Fraggle Rock. He was a very, very beginning stages of CGI too right in the puppeteering on a computer. um And of course that that became huge within the last decade the next decade after that.
00:21:43
Speaker
yeah After the 80s Star Wars character design he was kind of involved he consulted in Yoda and of course Frank Oz did the voice of Yoda He died at 53. I wasn't sure what it was, but it was a bacterial infection because he was a workhorse He worked hard and he had pneumonia. He worked through it a few times and this time he had pneumonia. He had a bacterial infection and nineteen in in the 1990 or 89 I think somewhere around there and he was 53 years old and he died. the very end of the du who's now young yeah in The very end of the documentary, they actually show footage of his funeral.
00:22:16
Speaker
And if if you don't tear tear up, you're not human. There's a point where Big Bird comes out and starts singing, singing, it's not easy being green. Very emotional scene. I'm surprised they put something like that, but it's, the way they do did it, the funeral was like a, like a love fest more than a, then it was, it's it was a laugh, it's time to laugh, time to, time to, time to praise him rather than mourn him. So it was very cool how they did that. It's on Disney Plus right now. It's called Jim Henson, I DM in. Very good.

Documentary Features

00:22:46
Speaker
um Did you have a chance to watch Movie Pass Movie Crash? Yeah, I watched it two weeks ago, remember? Told you that. Okay, watch the yeah I could remember. Very good. I wanted to ask you some stuff because I know you had it. Yep. $9.99. $9.95 a month. I know you i are on it when the they were on it pretty early. um The card shipping delays. Did you have a delay with your card? I seem to remember you did. They didn't send your card right away.
00:23:10
Speaker
they didn't yeah because i was looking into it when it was still like 30 dollars because somebody on a website i was on a message board had it and he like lived and died by it and then when it dropped down to 10 bucks a month is when i decided to get it and yeah my card took like a month to get three i think three weeks yeah You find out in the documentary what the reason for that was they only printed enough for what like a hundred thousand but they ended up getting millions yeah and millions subscribers right within the first like seven months so the cards were really delayed they had to get like bridge trucks to bring these cards in um because they were actual debit cards
00:23:46
Speaker
But yeah, you can kind of give us an idea. Like when you when you you had the app, you would pick the movie and then yeah it would upload money onto this debit card that you had. And then you would use it in the, like when you went in, you would just pay, you pay for the ticket when you got there. That's how it worked. um yeah And you find out that this was created by two African Americans. two one and One of them was a high profile others producer. And two old white guys come in and steal the limelight, steal the whole entire company from them, kick them off the board. um These two white guys wasted a lot of money, wasted a lot of time there. um They invested the type of shit that they would waste money on. They went to Coachella, wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars there promoting and this this venture.
00:24:34
Speaker
Invested in the Gotti movie, which is notoriously a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes starring John Travolta. And $150 million loss became, it just kept growing and growing and growing. I think it ended up being over $200 million by the time they actually shut down business. And it became a failure. Very cool story though, the guys that got pushed out, they actually got fired from the company, the two black guys, the two African Americans that started it. um one of them went back and when this when the When the failed movie pass went into auction went back and bought it very cool story at the end um And of course like we have regal unlimited now So this wouldn't have happened without this failure because this worked everybody started going to the movies for this reason. Yep um And also, uh, it's also a good deal if you don't have a regal or a name senior you it's still a decent I think it's like 30 bucks for three movies a week right or something like that
00:25:34
Speaker
so or three movies a month, but I mean it's still a decent deal if you don't have an AMC or any of the other ones that might do it, like if you just have an independent theater, it should probably work there, but yeah. yeah thing other Yeah, the other thing, like the blackout days, like you would, I don't know, you you probably realized this too, but... That's when I canceled, that's when I couldn't go to anything. Yeah, because they would start blacking out, and then you find out that they were secretly doing that behind the scenes. They weren't telling anybody. They were telling you, oh, you can see unlimited movies or whatever you want. However, you go on the app, you try to watch. I think the big the big one was one of the Mission Impossible movies. Yep. And then, oh, yeah, you can't see this movie right now. Sorry. It would be a warrant, and there'd be like a little message coming up on the app when you're trying to buy that ticket. Yep. And then everybody was complaining about it. That's the reason I didn't see that in theaters, because that's when, and then I canceled it like the month after.
00:26:21

A lot of people did, and then they had a big huge falling out, but yeah, great documentary. That's on Max right now. um Another documentary, this is on YouTube currently. They are airing episodes on iTunes. um Who Killed WCW? Done by the guys who do Dark Side of the Ring, um produced by the Rocks production company Rocks in It 2, which is weird. He shouldn't be even involved in the video portion of it, but he is. right um But this is great talking about it's a four part. It's a four part docu-series about what killed WCW Why did it go on to go out of business? um this is all about how it kind of came to be how the 83 weeks happened which was the 83 weeks of prominence and in the ratings over WWF in the in 97 98
00:27:07
Speaker
um Talks about Hulk Hogan coming to the company, changing the game, I mean he was a big draw for them. And then of course when he turned heel, the NWO, they kind of brought in this attitude that had not been in wrestling before. ah Brought in this very cool marketing with this shirt that everybody had still has to this day, still selling. um But yeah, that's kind of where it leaves off the NWO, the stuff that was going on in 97, right before Goldberg comes. And that's what next episode is all about, is Goldberg and the streak. I was trying to rip through the 83 weeks so quickly, or like most of it. Like they ripped through a lot more than I thought they would on the first episode.
00:27:47
Speaker
Yeah, the first episode was all about the 83 weeks and it leaves you with three episodes and one episode's gonna be all about Russo. Gotta be. Yep. Because there's three episodes left and we're already at 97. They end in 2000. And he's on it, right? Like he got everything for it, right? Oh, he's on it. He's probably in the next one. The only person who did not agree to be on this was Hulk Hogan. Probably rightfully so because everybody was bashing him. So um Yeah, from what he did behind the scenes behind the scenes and just the fact that he had the contract that said he could do anything Yeah, um and I don't you know stories Nash doesn't bash him. He bashes the fact he got that contract So he's bashing him but not bashing him because they're still good friends. Yeah, but Hart doesn't give a fuck
00:28:30
Speaker
Like Brett Hart is sitting in his bar, chilling. Brett Hart is right. I can't wait for him to talk about Goldberg. I know. A documentary is like this. A documentary is like this when Brett Hart starts speaking, especially the Goldberg stuff. I can't wait. I fucking love Brett. He's awesome. Yeah, because Brett Hart's not here yet. This is the end of 97, so he's going to get there soon. And then all the stuff with Goldberg happens in the street. Yeah, and then it was Starkey, which is Brett's first night. So, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. um So that was great. That's on Tuesdays on Vice or you can watch it on YouTube currently um

It's on iTunes. You want to buy it the next day too every episode on YouTube or you know going forward um I'm not sure I know the first one is free and I'm not sure if they're gonna do that again, but okay I know a lot of people are liking and I did like it too. Um, I watched two movies. You've already seen so we're gonna talk about him Late night with the devil started David des Malchian
00:29:27
Speaker
I loved this movie. I watched it last night right before bed. um There are some very cool scary moments in this, but i what I loved about it wasn't the horror part of it. It's almost a recreation of 1970s late night television. It does a great job at depicting what a Johnny Carson type character is. Um, a lot of weird shit happened in this movie. It's about, it's about this late night guy kind of in limbo as far as celebrity wise. He's trying to get the best ratings. He's number two to Johnny Carson the whole entire time. Um, and he starts becoming, the way the doc, the way the movie starts playing out, it's like a mockumentary type of thing where they're playing lost but footage of this late night show where, I'm not going to give the spoiler what happens at the end, but something happens on this show. It's lost.
00:30:14
Speaker
They show behind the scenes footage, but backstage footage throughout, like, pieced in through it throughout too. There's a big mystery that happens at the end, something happens. I don't want to get into the the details, but it's a great movie. um For what it is, probably a 4 out of 5 for me. um Yeah, I think you liked it more than me. I wasn't a huge fan. It was just, it's not my type of horror, but yeah it was filmed incredibly well. Like I love like the whole, the way it was filmed and how it literally looks like it was made in the seventies. And like ah he yeah David does such a good job too. Um, in that role, it just it wasn't my type of a horror. Um, so it was just whatever, but I'm glad I watched it. It was probably, I probably would give it like a, I don't like it.
00:30:57
Speaker
two and a half, three. I mean, I think I might've given you like a three, three and a half last time, but it was also right after I saw it. So it's probably like a two and a half to more think about it. His performance is very good. He's a great actor under... He's very good, yeah um yeah. He's just great. he's He's great in everything. He's very, very small supporting roles in everything he does, but this is one of his first leading roles. It's just great. This next movie was a four out of five. About 45 minutes before it ended, it jumped up to a four and a half, maybe even a five, depending on my mood. Boy Kills... I'll have to watch it again in a five, but... Boy Kills World.
00:31:34
Speaker
Incredible movie. There is a awesome twist No money, no money at all, but there's an awesome twist I do not want to talk about this movie at all besides who's in it. Bill Skarsgard, Fomka Jenskin, Fomka Jenskin who played james Jean in the X-Men movies. Sharto Copley who was in District 9, he was in the A-Team. Jessica Roth- Old boy. Old boy, right. Um, Jessica Roth who was in Happy Death Day, Happy Death Day 2. Um, the kid from The Boys, um, who plays Homelander's son. Um, the voice of Archer does voiceover in this. I never watched Archer, but I know, uh, I know he's pretty popular. Yep. Um, and the bearded guy from Stranger Things plays one of the family members. Um, if I were to give this a non-spoiler depiction of what it is,
00:32:28
Speaker
It's an arcade fighting game that's come to life. This kid, something happens to him when he's younger and he has to fight his way to the last battle. um This last boss fight. I liken it to a video game movie plus um a comic book movie plus John Wick thrown into a blender. yeah it what it felt like yeah and like i said it was a four out of there was a four out of five and literally forty minutes before the movie ends there is a twist that happens
00:33:00
Speaker
that just turns everything around yeah changes everything things happen Alliance has changed. It's very awesome 4.5 out of 5 and like I said on depends on that yeah depends on the day This could be a 5 out of 5. It is very very good. Everybody should see this movie one agree but five unless I've seen it twice because you i about things second time Yeah, a lot of great movies out right now between this mystery of a gentlemanly warfare Civil war then a lot of great shit out right now So there's plenty of shit to watch if you haven't seen any good movies lately um And Kevin watch last night. He watched premiere. Yeah, go ahead. Yes. Yeah bad boys for ride or die. Um, I Honestly think this might be the second best bad boys. I had to rewatch the first two. It's been a while I actually started the first one last night um As I was sending you photos of like random people from different TV shows and shit um That I'm like, holy shit. That person's in there that person's in it um There's just a ton of people that like from the mid 90s that like I just completely forgot existed there were in like some of my favorite movies like Sarah's mom from the crow is randomly in it and
00:34:11
Speaker
yeah in the first one, but bad boys four is incredible. It's shot really well. It's fun. um They brought back Reggie in part three as like, just kind of like a throwback to two. And in this movie, he's his one, he has a scene that steals the movie for me. I won't get into it, but it's fucking like, I wanted to like clap out loud, but I didn't want to look like an asshole. um it's but It's like one of those movies, one of those, you know, you wanted to like put your fist in the air and like fist bump. um Yeah, the movie is a lot of fun. They introduced the character in the third one, and that pays off in this one. You've seen the third one, right? I've seen. I don't remember these movies. I don't remember the third one that much. I watched a few years ago. In the third one, the bad guy is like his son and then turns at the end and helps Will Smith and they fight together. So he is a big part in this movie, too. And he has a couple of really, really badass scenes.
00:35:04
Speaker
um Overall, really done, really well shot. um These two filmmakers that did Ms. Marvel, and of course they did a canceled Batgirl movie, I Am Bad Boys 3, really capture, like they're not Michael Bay, but they kind of capture the essence of what Michael Bay did in those original two movies, especially with a lot of the panning shots of them and whatnot. um And there's a lot of callbacks to the very first movie I noticed when I was watching the first one again last night. um Overall though just a fun. It's it's two hours um After you get through the 40 minutes of fucking previews I had to sit through like here's a 330 show and it started the movie started at 401 um So if you go to like a 10 o'clock show you can be there by 10 30 and still not miss anything but um Yeah, really good movie. and I think they're planning to do six overall Okay, I think the plan is so hopefully it makes money and they can fund the next one.
00:35:57
Speaker
The one thing I hear about this movie is there's a slap in there. It's kind of a spoof of what happened with Will Smith, with Chris Rock. Is that play out in that? Do you remember anything like that? I think so, yeah. ah Okay. Yes, I vaguely remember that, but I didn't think about that at the time. Okay. Yeah, the media's kind of picked up on that. Yeah, okay, yeah. Stuff like that I don't know is the first time when I'm watching a movie, because I don't think about outside things. I'm watching a film, but yeah. Yeah. That's a good call by them. Okay, well that being said, I'm going to watch that soon. ah Let's get into the news.
00:36:38
Speaker
And it's not a news segment without the trailer roundup.
00:36:43
Speaker
We've got some good trailers this week. We saw the first trailer full trailer to Alien, Romulus. It comes out on August 16th. I think this looks great. The very last scene of this trailer is reminiscent of of ah Ripley and the Aliens from the past. I thought it was very cool, kind of a face-off showdown with ah with the Alien. Looks very cool. This comes out in August, the middle of August, so we'll probably be watching that. this movie blew me away i don't know if you saw it i hope you did the trailer for the killers game starring dave batista um i saw it for the first time before bad boys and this movie looks fucking incredible great right because the twist in this they show it right in the trailer yep he has the doctor tells him he has cancer um come to find out he doesn't have cancer he puts a he puts a hit on himself because he doesn't want his girlfriend to see him like basically waste away
00:37:32
Speaker
Right, so he wants to die, so he puts like this ah this suicide hit on him. Then he finds out he's not going to die, so he tries to take the hit back, and he can't take the hit back. So he has to fight off all these people who are trying to kill him. Looks great. Trail looks fun it looks great, fun. Very John Wick-esque. I think it's done by the people that do it John Wick. problem yeah I'm not sure when this comes out but it looks fantastic. um Terry Cruz is in it, Ben Kingsley is in it. um The girl who played Mantis in Guardian's Palm is in that. so Yep, the chick from Rebel Moon. Yeah, yep. Saw a new trailer for Maxine, comes out in a few weeks, looks looks good. We'll be seeing that. Can't wait.
00:38:17
Speaker
and The big trailer this week came out Monday morning was the last of the trilogy of venom movies venom the last dance coming out in October I Have my thoughts we're gonna get into it. Of course. I love Tom Hardy is venom He is great as the character because he plays this dual role. Well um kind of multiple multiple multiple personality and Let's get into the problems. Now, the rumors of this, which you've mentioned before, that they're going to be having a kid Peter Parker in this. There's a quick scene in this, supposedly there's a kid in Aunt May, and that's supposedly Peter and Aunt May. Not sure about that. sony's Sony's version of this part of Sony's world, multiverse world, is this is going to be their Peter Parker, I guess.
00:39:10
Speaker
Who fucking knows? Well, they tried to do that in Madame Web, but the timeline didn't line up, so they probably just added it to this movie instead, knowing Sony. The time the timeline doesn't add up for anything they do. We're going to get it to that in a minute, because Rysel Fines is shown in this trailer in the back of a van playing a guitar. It looks like Venom. It looks like little Peter Parker's in there, too. He played the lizard in Amazing Spider-Man, so did they bring him back just for fuckery? Like, did he come back from that universe into this universe? Maybe he's just a different character. Something happened there? Or just the same character same actor is this the same Is this the same universe as the Andrew Garfield universe before all that shit happens with the Andrew Garfield? when Before Andrew Garfield was an adult? I doubt it. Very strange. But they might tie it in, but I mean, already be in the back of a he's a fucking scientist. Why don't he be in the back of a van playing a banjo?
00:40:05
Speaker
Right, who knows? Who knows, you're right. But the weirdest thing about this trailer and the one that the internet went above and the thing that I text you about immediately, i how pissed I was about this, was the fact that we see a scene in the bar, this the after credits of No Way Home, of the guy who plays Danny Rojas and Ted Lassos, a bartender, and they leave the symbiote of Spider-Man behind when Eddie Brock gets sent back to his time in the Sony universe, his universe. now this trailer shows Chiyoto or Ejiofor whatever his name is as an army person coming in grabbing that symbiote in this scene in the trailer which makes you think that that's being in the Sony universe you're not sure what the fuck this is all about and maybe maybe they're gonna wreck on it maybe they're not maybe I have a feeling he's not going from universe to universe and stealing symbiotes so
00:41:06
Speaker
I don't know. I don't know. Because supposedly this is you universe 616 is where the symbiote was left. So, I don't know. At this point, Sony and my hands are tied. I'm just, I'm done. i Morbius was awful. Venom 1 and 2 were not good compared to what they should have been. Mostly because Spider-Man wasn't involved. I don't have a lot of high hopes. I don't even want to get into Madam Web. I don't have a lot of high hopes in... Besides Aaron Taylor Johnson, I don't have a lot of high hopes for Craven. I don't have a lot of high hopes for this movie. I want, like everybody that loves Marvel, to Marvel to just buy Spider-Man. It won't happen, because it's their money maker. They don't have anything else that makes this type of money. um Yeah. I'm at a loss. You want my takes real quick? Yeah, yeah.
00:41:57
Speaker
Let's get this fucking movie over with and just in the next Spider-Man, introduce a new Eddie Brock. um Two, the first Venom, I enjoy more than probably 65% of the Marvel movies. I love the first Venom. Second one is trash. This one looks awful.

Industry News and Criticisms

00:42:11
Speaker
I don't wanna see it. I will be seeing it, but I'm not gonna enjoy it. But just get this movie out of the fucking way so that we can fucking hopefully get Eddie Brock in Spider-Man 4 whenever that fucking comes out.
00:42:26
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, exactly. I mean, just get this out of the way. It is what it is. I mean, the the movies make money. So they obviously were going to make the third one because the first two made decent money, actually really decent money. Like movies would kill for that box office now. Like I think the second one made like the same as Dune two yeah or something over the first one of them made over like eight hundred million dollars. So one of them made as much as Dune two for Christ's sake. Um, So let's just get this movie out of the way. We'll see it. We'll watch the death of the universe very much like what we did with Aquaman 2. And pray to God that Craven is somewhat halfway decent. I just don't trust it with Sony behind it. No matter who's directing and who's writing, I just can't trust them at this point. Because they're retconning something. They're retconning a lot of shit that shouldn't even be touched. And that's what sucks about it.
00:43:14
Speaker
Because we have a great universe with Marvel. What they've done with Tom Holland is great. They reinvented the character and they already have a couple of great Spider-Man universes already with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. The Andrew Garfield movies just barely touched the surface of what they could in those movies. Um, if they really wanted to, they could have bring him back, bring him in for the first venom. Like all they had to do is bring him back for just the first venom, have him be in the movie for 15 fucking minutes and everything would have lined up okay. And it would have been okay. Yeah. And they don't have to do that.
00:43:52
Speaker
They don't have to do these weird retcons where an army general has to go in and supposedly go to 616, which is no way this is 616, and steal a symbiote. That doesn't make fucking sense, so. Yeah. Yeah, fuck these movies, but we'll watch it. ah Last weekend's box office, Garfield won the box office. um If was number two, and Friosa number three, they were all about the same, between 14 and 10 million. um So it wasn't really a big box office blowout, but... Yeah, it's just not good. not Not a good year. I mentioned it back in April, maybe even March, that there's not a lot of big blockbusters until Deadpool. um and We had good movies, but they're just not huge money-making movies right now. We'll have to wait until next year to actually get some good good meat to our bones here. but
00:44:39
Speaker
um The Mike Tyson Jake Paul fight that was going to be on Netflix had been postponed. He had a ulcer blow up and he was on a plane and he had an emergency landing. It has been rescheduled for November 15th. Still live still live on Netflix. um So it'll be free if you have Netflix. So that's pretty cool. So yeah, I'm kind of excited about that. But cause I don't have to pay 100 or plus to watch it. So that's pretty cool. You know, to wait and see. um
00:45:11
Speaker
Speaking of streaming, Max has raised their price of the ad-free plans right before Game of Thrones comes out this Sunday. I'm beginning Tuesday the ad free max will raise its prices for $15.99 to $16.99 The yearly plan is going to go up 20 bucks to $169.99 a year um this is for the max with no ads so Yeah, I mean it's worth it because the ads you are paying the ass But they do have if you have 18 you do get you do get max for free with ads but
00:45:43
Speaker
or hc i can remember what i have but um rumors are that the office spin-off is going to be called the paper instead of the office um sets production in a couple months in July ah the next couple months so kind of excited about that we'll see where that plays out um speaking of TV shows the white collar which I never watched I know it was on a lot after I watched the first watch season and a half it was good I got caught up in work and never went back But they're rebooting it according to the creator. um And yes, I don't know where it's going to be. where How do you reboot with the original cast, though? That's my question. Like, wouldn't it just be a continuation? Yeah, I guess that's what it is, but then this is what the article says. so
00:46:25
Speaker
yeah yeah uh... elle fanning has joined a uh... movie called badlands uh... stand-alone movie from the predator universe done by dan trackenberg who did the first uh... uh... predators spin-off pray uh... and elle fanning sister of uh... what's her name fanny uh... uh... dakota dakota dakota is in the new yeah who's in that new uh... movies going on next week or this week uh... I can't remember what that name was. um But yeah, Paul Giamatti has signed on to start a television adaptation of Eli Roth's Hostel. ah Put this in there for you, because I know you like the Hostel movie. Let's go. And I love Giamatti. Yeah, I love Giamatti, too. What's his role going to be? If they torture Giamatti, I'm out. Last straw. He's a goddamn American hero.
00:47:20
Speaker

I like him too and it just and your super so good And now that I've seen the show I know why you're pissed off about the review of Christian Slater, by the way Yeah, that's kind of weird funs awesome in the show
00:48:12
Speaker
Yeah, his father is played by Raiden from ah for the second Mortal Kombat. The original Hicks from ah Aliens. But that's right he got caught with meth in his hotel room so he couldn't do Aliens. Oh wow. Um, Peaky Blinder's film, uh, officially announced at Netflix, uh, Kelly Murphy is coming back to star in it as Thomas Shelby. Um, and very excited about that. I do like that. I need to, I need to catch up on that last season. Peaky Blinder's a great show. Um.
00:48:44
Speaker
A little bit more news on the Terminator anime show that's coming on Netflix this summer. Timothy Oliphant doing the voice of the Terminator. They showed some new pictures through Netflix yesterday. I'm looking forward to this. Yeah, me too. It looks fairly cool. The animation style looks cool. So yeah, we'll wait and see. um Have you watched Baby Reindeer yet? ah Netflix. not Here's here's great. What's it about? This woman becomes a stalker to a comedian based off a true story. This comedian wrote a book I believe or a story about this or an article um about this woman who pretty much was a stalker. I'm not sure about the how far the stocking went. um Woman went to jail in real life and she got out of jail and now she's suing Netflix for 170 million dollars.
00:49:34
Speaker
and damages from how she was portrayed in this in this movie, in this, I guess, show series on Netflix. um Don't know anything about it other than what I just said but... Yeah, I'm kind of interested to see it. I don't know anything about it. yeah same um Rumors of this Beatles biopic being close to casting the four Beatles members, Sam Mendes doing these four Beatles biopics, they're kind of kind of all combined into one big story at the end. um Barry Coogan, rumored to be playing Ringo Starr.
00:50:08
Speaker
um Other than that, I don't know the other guys Paul Mezcal who was what what role was he up for? Lately, oh, it was a he went towards that's the only that's the only got other guy I know but Yeah, well the way to see on this. I'm excited about that those movies. So we'll see I Last of us season two will consist of seven episodes um Potential third season will be a lot larger and the second game is gonna is gonna be more than just one scene in the season It's gonna be like to see yeah even twice as big as the first game. Yeah. Yeah ye um So if I had were to guess the big twist that happens in that game to end of season two, yeah, probably yeah
00:50:52
Speaker
um Big rumors that Microsoft is reportedly doing a remaster of Halo combat of all the first Halo game and they're considering putting it on PlayStation 5 That'd be pretty cool because I don't have an I don't have an extra awesome say new one. Um, yeah Yeah, it'd be pretty cool. Um Tonight, as we record Friday, June 7th, is the last night of Pat Sajak's hosting on Wheel of Fortune. Is that on at 7 or 7.30, or is Jeopardy! 7.30? Because it's ending right now. Ending right now as we record. Yeah, I was always more of a Jeopardy! person. I don't know about you. I liked them both. I watched them both. I liked that whole hour, yeah. Yeah, for sure.
00:51:34
Speaker
But I was always more of a Jeopardy person, I love Jeopardy. um But yeah, ah yeah his he's going, Ryan Seacrest is taking his stay in Oscar Love and collecting another show, that another franchise that he can take over, so good for him. um Another documentary I wanted to bring up, coming out on June 13th next week, called Bratz, gonna be on Hulu. All about the Brat Pack, which we haven't really talked about in the 80s. All these Brat Pack kids who are in The Breakfast Club, um yeah Pretty in Pink, all the John Hughes movies.

Casting News and Rumors

00:52:06
Speaker
yeah um They're bringing in Andrew McCarthy, dan Demi Moore, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Ali Sheedy, John Cryer, Leah Thompson. A whole bunch of other people are going to be in this documentary talking about their time in the Brat Pack.
00:52:19
Speaker
There's a huge phenomenon back in the 80s. All these young kids being movie stars and running Hollywood at the time. So that's pretty cool. We'll probably watch that in the next few weeks. um Jake Gyllenhaal has officially joined the cast of his sister's The Bride movie. Maggie's maggie's directing this movie called The Bride, retelling of Frankenstein. um Christian Bale is in it playing the monster. Yeah, don't know anything other than that. looks The pictures that have released so far look pretty cool, especially of Christian Bale is Frankenstein, so that's pretty cool.
00:52:51
Speaker
Currently filming. um more More photos from this animated series coming out on Netflix in the fall. Twilight of the Gods done by Zack Snyder. We see some pictures of Thor and the hammer. ah not Other than that, we know it's about Norse mythology. We don't know anything else about it. yes yeah Looks pretty cool. Knives out three. A little bit more casting news this week. Also, I wanted to mention There's kind of a weird paradox happening here because in the first, it was the second movie, right? Glass Onion? Yep. They reference their Jeremy Renner as a hot sauce. Jeremy Renner's part of the cast, so a lot of people are speculating that he's going to be playing himself in the third movie. Oh, he'll probably be playing himself, yeah. Yep.
00:53:37
Speaker
So that's pretty cool. And the other casting, big casting news was Josh Brolin yes joining the cast. And Thomas Hayden Church has also joined the cast this week. is far pretty loaded yeah But these movies are always loaded. He does a great job. yeah true um James Gunn announced that Superman has added Saturday Night Live actor Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, who was a sports reporter back in the day in The Daily Planet. Who was in BBS, just nobody knew it. Yep. And he plays it he plays a part in All-Star Superman, so. Yep, so that makes sense. There was two other casting announcements today. I forgot to add to the notes um two other reporters. One of them was, I can't remember, Cat Stevens, yep.
00:54:21
Speaker
But I don't remember the actress's name. Yeah, I can't remember her name either, but yep. Um, Evangela Lilly, who was in Lost, she was in Ant-Man, all the Ant-Man movies, she played the Wasp. Retired from acting, said in a statement this week that she was stepping away. um She might return to Hollywood one day and she said she's happy with that decision. So her second retirement, she retired after Lost and then came back for Ant-Man. yeah mean she's been and she's been ah she's been ah and She's been on a hiatus for the past three years after finishing Quantum Media and are and her contract for that. um
00:54:57
Speaker
ah yeah thats yeah I her in Lord of the Rings too. She played one of the elves. oh yeah that's right yep The Hobbit. um
00:55:08
Speaker
Giancarlo Esposito officially joined the cast of Captain America Brave New World as rumors of it up until this week for an undisclosed role the rumors of it being a character that was based in Moon Knight the character of
00:55:26
Speaker
Bushman which was the character that moon knight gets betrayed from in in of in Egypt and In that first season, I don't remember much about it. That's why I'm kind of stammering here.
