Podcast Milestone and Longevity

00:01:26
Speaker
Welcome everyone. Good evening. We are live on YouTube and we are on episode 139 of our podcast. Who believed that we ah lasted this long? Um, yesterday, well, number one, we survived the year again, made it through judgment day. Yes, we did. Did not die. We did it. We did it. Everyone Skynet did not take over.

Terminator 2 and Pop Culture Impact

00:01:52
Speaker
So,
00:01:53
Speaker
Yesterday during Judgment Day, I decided that I was going to watch a movie that's near and dear to both of our hearts very much her later Terminator 2 Judgment Day Normally, this is where I would play the theme song for Terminator. However, now that we're on YouTube, I cannot do that. So we're gonna talk about this movie and The impact that it had in not only pop culture, but movie making in general, Arnold Schwarzenegger's career, the first movie, of course, made him a star. this was This one, he was already a star. He had a ton of great movies out. But him continuing going into this sequel, this was this the first sequel hed he had done?
00:02:34
Speaker
I believe it may. you Did he do two Conan's before this? Maybe Conan, you're right. Maybe it wasn't Conan moving. Okay. yeah But yeah, this is a big budget, big budget blockbuster directed by James Cameron, of course. um Coming out of Aliens, I think a few years before this. yeah just so Took seven years to make the sequel. And we're going to talk all about the reasons for that.
00:02:59
Speaker
Well, which is odd, because James Cameron never takes his time with anything. He just goes right full board and everything. Doesn't take his time. Doesn't take 13 years between an avatar of sequels at all. Never done that before. Never happened. But um this movie connects not only the past from the past movie where you have Cyberdyne, Miles Dyson, who is the person who creates Skynet,
00:03:24
Speaker
um The T-800 from the first movie, the arm and the chip that's left over from that from the end of the climax of the first movie, connects all of that and promoting a dystopian future of robots taking over the world and Their task is to save and protect its savior, who in the first movie you find out it is John Connor, ends up being a kid in this movie, they go back to 1991.

Casting and Character Dynamics

00:03:50
Speaker
um John Connor, this time played by Edward Furlong, new up and coming actor, they found him in a... I believe it was almost like a YMCA in l LA. they were hunting They were hunting for this character, we're gonna talk about the casting in a little bit, but... um They were hunting for the for the right person to play this role because John Connor is the leader of the resistance. You want somebody that has some sort of a good repertoire on screen, of course, especially with Arnold, especially with his mother, somebody that can act his way out of a paper bag, somebody that has just good gravitas in general. um But obviously influenced by the 80s culture of kids at the time, Bart Simpson,
00:04:30
Speaker
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The arcade was played a huge part in the beginning of the movie. um And then you see Sarah Connor, who's played Linda Hamilton, coming back from the first movie. However, she's prepared for war. She's been preparing for war ever since her first movie. And she's been in a mental institution because she got arrested for talking and because she's talking crazy about robots are coming. june Doomsday is coming. Judgment Day is coming. She was locked away. So that's where she is in the beginning of the movie.
00:04:58
Speaker
um And her whole entire task is to protect John because John is the future um This movie Big difference between this one and the first one is Arnold Schwarzenegger is the good guy um At this point in his career. He's the biggest movie star in um I wouldn't be surprised. I'm guessing the reason for this big huge face tournaments because of that um We'll talk about the logistics doing a little bit. I think a big part of that too was he auditioned for Kyle Reese in the first one Yes, and then halfway through the audition he turned to James Cameron's basically like why why don't I just audition for the term there instead of that ended up being the right call by far because The dynamic between who ended up being Congress and him as the terminator was perfect, right? Yeah
00:05:41
Speaker
um yeah He had to really talk Arnold into doing that role but the But the best part the whole reason that we're doing this is because I watched this movie the most menacing villain Probably top

T-1000 and Villain Comparisons

00:05:54
Speaker
three. I don't I want to get your opinion on this too of any movie ever is t1000 played by Robert Patrick then he I Kind of compared him in the notes to jaws we talked about that last week. and We were talking about um the tornado and twister and He is a menacing force in this movie that you're always worried that he's gonna come out of nowhere and just attack attack them. because He's had the such a unique power source where he could turn into this liquid metal, come out of nowhere, make blades, kill people, run super fast. We're gonna talk about all of that stuff in a minute.

Judgment Day's Storytelling Significance

00:06:27
Speaker
So I have a ton of facts on this movie. I did a lot of research. I was surprised. This was a last-minute decision to put this on the podcast this week, but this movie is just...
00:06:35
Speaker
it's judgment day we gotta talk about this movie it's a big deal and in sci-fi big deal in Arnold Schwarzenegger's career, James Cameron's career, everything um but the one thing that we're gonna talk about now the end of the movie there is one plot point that is open to interpretation his arm gets left behind Arnold's arm gets ripped off by the T1000 in one of the machines in the factory at the end of the movie and Is that a plot hold? do we know I don't know if it was ever talked about in a book or or game or anything, but that arm was not destroyed. Arnold, at the end of the movie, of course, if you've seen the movie, number one, if you haven't seen the movie, what the hell? Number two, if you've seen the movie, you know Arnold is destroyed, the T-1000 is destroyed, um the chip, the arm, everything that that is robot robot technology is completely destroyed except for that one arm that that gets ripped off of Arnold.
00:07:31
Speaker
has never been brought up in any of the sequels. There's been four sequels to this movie, by the way, and still no definitive answer of what happened to the arm. I'm wondering if that may pop up. Plus the TV show. Plus the two TV shows. We're gonna talk about the second one in a little bit. But here's some facts about the movie.

Opening Scene and Symbolism

00:07:48
Speaker
The first three minutes of this movie, set in 2029 in the future when the robots have already taken over, cost more than the entire first movie's budget.
00:07:59
Speaker
um James Cameron showed children in in the playground. We've seen that in this movie a lot. It's a recurring visual. It shows up three times. First, it's a normal day. um Then it's covered in ashes the second time. And finally, it's on fire. um He did this to just symbolize heaven, hell, and purgatory. um He also shows four mechanical horses in the playground. um That means the imagery of like four horsemen in the apocalypse. Very visual interpretation of that.
00:08:30
Speaker
um Like you said like you mentioned Arnold was originally going to be Kyle Reese um He wanted to be a hero heroic leading man. James Cameron had to talk him into the being the villain um By the time Terminator 2 came along It became the opposite. He was afraid the audience would reject a Terminator that didn't kill um James Cameron told him it's okay, we're gonna write it into the script You're gonna see that John Connor is gonna give him that no kill at addict It's all gonna have to do with the story and actually worked out perfectly Um, yeah John doesn't want him to kill anybody because, uh, that's just the way he is. Um, the original part of John Connor was given to Charlie Corsimo. Now you don't know the name, I'm sure. However, if you seen hook, if you seen what about Bob, you know, this kid right here, this was the original John Connor.
00:09:24
Speaker
um He had to turn down the role because of the movie What About Bob? He already had a prior commitment, so he turned it down. They went and found Edward Furlong and they cast him in the in the role instead. um He was 13, Edward Furlong at the time, um going through pure puberty. I know if you've ever noticed the dubbing in this movie, you know some of it's a little mixed up here and there. It's because he was going through pure puberty. um In the scenes in the and industrial complex at the end of the film,
00:09:50
Speaker
He had to stand in a hole to maintain the same height difference with Linda Hamilton because he was growing so big in this in this eight eight-month time period of filming the movie. um Yeah, and they had to redub a lot of it in post-production because his voice had broken by the end of the filming compared to what it was in the beginning. um Terminator 2 included pot plot points originally intended for Terminator 1. The Terminator versus Terminator was it going to be ah Arnold versus Arnold.
00:10:17
Speaker
um They ended up changing it to a liquid metal, which that was also ah a factor in the first one. James Cameron wanted liquid metal. They ended up putting it into the second movie. Technology wasn't there at the time. That's basically what it was. The CGI tech didn't get there. and we One of the very first movies we talked about on this podcast was Abyss.
00:10:34
Speaker
If you've seen that movie, that's kind of where the transition of CGI was going in James k Cramer's career. um he got He was trying to get this so close that he could do the metal, liquid metal to a CG standard like ILM would end up doing eventually, but they had to keep... It's kind of like why Titanic took took a while to get there too, because Titanic uses the same technology. Avatar as well, he's waiting for the technology just to get just right in order to make it look great on screen. And I think by the time this came out, it did look pretty great.
00:11:02
Speaker
Um, 50% of the rights of the franchise was owned by, uh, Hemdell Film Corporation. Um, and they didn't want the other corporation, Carol Coe, to produce a sequel or Cameron to direct it. Um, they actually wanted another guy to direct it who directed, uh, Predator and Die Hard.

Sequel Challenges and Inspirations

00:11:19
Speaker
Um, Joel Matyrnan. Um, um, in the late eighties, Hemdell hit financial difficulties and Carco kind of came in out of nowhere with a $5 million dollars bid.
00:11:30
Speaker
to the rights of the Terminator franchise, and they had no choice but to accept it. So that's basically how the movie happened. um Deal was struck in 1990, and a 1991 release date was announced prematurely by the producers, where the Stan Winston created a Terminator assembly line, a teaser trailer, I don't remember this, um but James Kerman had to write, produce, film, and edit the movie all within one year. So, deal was struck in 1991, like I said,
00:12:00
Speaker
Took one year for James Cameron to write, produce, film, and direct, and edit the film before it had to come out. It was a very quick process. I'm surprised because the movie is so great. Not a lot of flaws in it. Nope. But yeah, it was all done within one year. um Arnold tore the skin from his hand, trying over and over again to get the iconic one-handed cock shotgun scene done and on the motorcycle. He actually ripped the skin from his hand.
00:12:26
Speaker
um The original idea for T-1000 was Billy Idol. um He dropped out after a motorcycle accident. um They also had the idea of bringing back Michael Bean. um Arnold facing himself like it was an original plan from the first movie. And Steven Seagal was the other option. They ended up going with Robert Pratchett.
00:12:49
Speaker
His inspiration for T1000 was David Bowie meets James Dean. He kind of get that from that character that he was playing um he was hi hired by James Cameron after seeing Die Hard 2. He was ah i don't remember i haven've seen the movie a lot legacy he had a small role in that um he was trained trained for running for months just by breathing through his nose so he showed no sign of fatigue while filming.
00:13:11
Speaker
um he protected He practiced shooting a pistol without blinking from the blowback like ah like a machine. um He studied the head movements of American Bald Eagles and copied them um for the T-1000. He also studied Great White Sharks. I think in Die Hard 2 he was just one of the bad guys. I think they just show him like once in like the van when they travel. It's been a long time since I watched Die Hard 2, but I think that's who he was. okay but yeah they also He also studied Great White Sharks.
00:13:37
Speaker
um He also, James Cameron, purposely kept sweat off a T-1000 because it's a different robot. um He wanted every shot to to differentiate the two cyborgs. And his older brother, he's the older brother of Richard Pratrick, who is the lead singer of Filter. um The sound of the T-1000 transforming was a recording of dog food coming out of a can. It was also achieved by wrapping a microphone in a condom and sticking it into a mixture of water and flour brought to a boil.
00:14:06
Speaker
um In one of these scenes in the beginning where Arnold is supposed to be naked, this is what it actually looked like behind the scenes. Arnold is wearing beach shorts. Practical effects done by Stan Winston. um The bullet holes in T-1000 were like kind of like a blooming metallic burst remote control through a robot. Terminator Exoskeleton in the beginning was fully animatronic controlled by 12 robot puppeteers. um Each person who T-1000 replicates in the film
00:14:37
Speaker
is an actual twin of the host actor, um so they could actually face off with the same same shot instead of having to do it in post. um At that time, like I said, CGI, very, very infant infancy of this technology, so it actually made sense. Including Sarah Connor, Linda Hamilton's real twin life sister, what twin sister in real life, is Leslie. and She filmed her scenes as well.
00:15:01
Speaker
um Linda Hamilton trained in artillery combat for 13 weeks judo marksmanship and learned to expertly pick locks She took out an ear plug in the elevator scene During filming and during a fire firing of gunshots became permanently death in one ear Um, the miles Dyson character was turned down by Denzel Washington. Oh, God character. Yeah, I know. Because the character looked too scared and he sweat. That's exactly the exact quote from James Cameron. That makes sense. That's somebody protecting their own image. I guess you could say somebody Iraq does basically every project he works. Yep. i Um, ILM had to digitally remove Robert Patrick's junk in the time travel scene in the beginning of the movie.
00:15:44
Speaker
ILM had only six people on their team before this movie came out because of this movie They had to up the up the manpower to 36 persons um The task involved ah Terminator 2 it would have taken one person to make this movie It would have taken them 12 years is what I heard for the facts of this um CGI in the film only equal to about three and a half minutes of the whole entire ah time the whole entire screen time um After the film was release ah released, Cameron received a letter from the nuclear laboratory ah thanking him for making what they called the most realistic depiction of a nuclear bomb going off ever. um Hiroshima would have looked something like this, and of course the scene you see Sarah Connor with all the skin ripping off of her and stuff. um He hired a lot of experts on nuclear warfare to get the scene research just right.
00:16:31
Speaker
um The Guns N' Roses scene where Arnold's going through the hallway with the gun in the in the box of roses was inspired intentionally by the band Guns N' Roses. Arnold even appeared in the music video video for the song Guns N' Roses Head on the soundtrack. um James Cameron would not allow young John Connor to carry a or use a firearm at all in the movie. um He was an advocate for that.
00:16:53
Speaker
um The original ending was going to be a flash forward to 2027 showing that you doomsday did not happen the Judgment Day didn't happen um the deleted alternate scene saw an adult John Connor as a US senator and Linda Hamilton as a grandmother complete with old age make makeup um And it was gonna be August 29th 1997 came in went she had a little joke about Michael Jackson turning 42 in the original script um James Cameron received six million dollars for writing and directing Schwarzenegger was paid $15 million, huge at the time, equates to about $21,000 per word. um On top of this he also was given by the by the producers a gu stream Gulf Stream jet worth $14 million. dollars
00:17:42
Speaker
um now just That's all the facts I have, but this movie, of course, the video game, my background today, arcade game, I remember that more than the movie when I was that and when i was at that that age. I don't remember exactly when I saw this movie. It was on cable or something the first time I saw it, but yeah um I remember it's probably my first time seeing it.
00:18:02
Speaker
Yeah, the video game was great. We used to go to the Dream Machine and play it. A lot of people would have birthday parties there. It came out on SNES and Sega Genesis, which is kind of trash because there's no gun. um You had to use the D-pad a little bit. um But I remember this movie mainly from, I think it was Abe Zacharias and maybe Jed Fisk talking about it when we were in like fucking we were like eight years old or whatever, talking about how awesome and badass it was. I don't know if they actually seen it at the time or just bragging that they'd seen it because that's what kids do when they're in like second, third grade. But I absolutely love this film. It's so hard for me to rank if I like this one or the first one more. I think I like the first one a little bit more because the noir setting and the human versus terminator aspect of it is a little more interesting. But then in this movie, you get like Robert Patrick and
00:18:51
Speaker
Arnold facing off. So it's awesome also.

Influence on Dystopian Genre and Anime Review

00:18:55
Speaker
So yeah, some of these movies, I probably saw them eventually when I was like 10 or 11. But yeah, these movies are great. Yep, great. And of course, it just every dystopian movie after this, everything that has to do with time travel in the future that's been destroyed by the past is kind of imitated off of this movie. Yep. Arnold's, Arnold's legacy. Of course, he's known for all the, all the one liners from this movie. Also la vista, I'll be back. Oh, everything became, well, back as from the first and he couldn't, it was, it was going to be, I will be back, but he couldn't pronounce it because of his accent. So they just changed it. I'll be back. And they obviously brought it back for this one. Um, yeah, these movies are awesome.
00:19:38
Speaker
Yeah, very good, and this is this is the second movie out of six. um And I would say probably the best of all of them, and it's for me top five sci-fi movie. And it's just really good, like I mentioned, Robert Patrick's top three villain of all time, just because of his performance in this movie, just because he plays it off as such a menace.
00:19:59
Speaker
um and it's it's just a great great performance all all around but yeah we're bringing this up also because Terminator 0 came out we're gonna talk about what we watched this week Terminator 0 came out on Netflix as an anime um cartoon anime half anime half computer animation. um There's eight episodes, about 27 minutes each. I watched the whole thing yesterday. It's very, very good. I kind of told you it was kind of like Godzilla minus one for the Terminator universe.
00:20:32
Speaker
Just because, it's it's another retelling of the Judgment Day story, but through another lens. Now this movie is set in Japan. It's set in Japan. Did you watch, did you have a happy watch? I watched the first four episodes. It's very fucking good. The animation is excellent. yeah excellent yeah um all the voice work is really good i was worried that um because i really didn't look into it i knew rosario dawson was cast um so i had a feeling it would be in english but there was still part of me i thought maybe just her part was in english and they would like dub everyone else or do whatever subtitles everyone else but i'm glad the whole thing is in english and i think this show is excellent um
00:21:11
Speaker
Hopefully gonna watch some more after we're done here and watch some rings of power. We'll get to that in a bit. But yeah, it's very, very well done. Very well written. The same guy that is the the creator of the show is also writing the Batman part two. Okay, cool.
00:21:29
Speaker
and Very good I like I like the characters in this I like by the end I'm not gonna talk about the ending but um there's some great twists to the Terminator universe um Definitely sets up a second season if they want to do it like I mentioned all set in Japan ah and a whole other kind of aspect to the Terminator and Skynet it's a whole other version of Skynet kind of out of Japan and It's a competing version of it, I guess. um But yeah, pretty good. um I also want to talk about a show. I think I may have brought it up before, but there's a show on Netflix I've been watching recently again called Love. This is produced by...
00:22:08
Speaker
Judd Apatow um stars, I can't remember her name, she was um she was in community and it starts stars another kid who's just great in it, he's a nerdy nerdy kid with glasses. um This show, I always talk about Undeclared being my favorite one of my favorite shows ever. um this is the great out there This is right up there too, just the dynamic between the cast and then The dynamic between the two main characters from the very first scene in the very first episode to the last scene in the last episode is their story of them falling in love and kind of Mickey, who is the main character, is a mess. She's a drug addict, she's a drunk, she says she's addicted to love and sex and everything.
00:22:51
Speaker
It's a very, very good show. If you've never watched it, um, it's a comedy. It's on, it's on Netflix three seasons. Um, it got canceled right before the pandemic and they ended up letting them do the last season, but, um, it's a very, very good show. It's called love. Um, I also watched dirty dancing cause we're getting into labor day weekend. Um, and that ended that movie, the big dance is labor day weekend. It's the end of the summer. So, um, kind of got me into it cause I've seen a lot of posts about it.
00:23:20
Speaker
um But the soundtrack I get into the soundtrack deep dive on that too also like a mic personal so Facebook page I've been doing soundtrack summer all summer so I was getting into songs I was like I missed this whole entire soundtrack when I was doing my list of songs I wanted to put on my on my Facebook feed and there are a lot of great moments in this song of course the end everybody knows the dance at the end time time of your life um but there's a lot of great doo-wop 50s 60s music that are in early throughout the whole soundtrack of this movie that's great
00:23:51
Speaker
um What other end of summer like what movies do you think of end of summer or summer movies? Do you think of that kind of guy you bring in bring you into the summer feel of? Watching when you watch a movie like something for me this one summer rental I can't think of any other ones off the top. Maybe but those are the two main ones for me that kind of mean summer to me I I don't know, I don't really watch end of summer movies. um I do watch movies like The Sandlot, which brings me into summer. Sandlot could be used here also. yeah oh But yeah, I mean, I really don't have any, like I have like obviously Jaws, like for July when I was, I don't have any end of summer ones, but yeah. Yeah, yeah. For me, for me, the that one and and and and
00:24:38
Speaker
whatever when I just, I already lost track of what I just said, but dirty dancing Dirty Dancing is a great movie. If you've never seen it, again, Rock, you're living under it, get out of it. um I've been wanting to watch this movie ever since we watched Tick Tick Boom. Now, we talked about it at the very beginning of the podcast first year. Jonathan Larson died right before Rent started previews. um And Rent was um was a Broadway show, ended up being turned into a movie in 2005, which I had never watched until this week. um Starred Rosario Dawson, speaking to her earlier. Tay Diggs.
00:25:17
Speaker
Idina Menzel, Jesse L. Martin, he was Iris's father in The Flash, Tracy th Toms, who was on Love on Netflix, which I just talked about, and Anthony Rapp, who, if you the name sounds familiar, if you're into pop culture news, he is a guy who said that Kevin Spacey sexually assaulted him, the whole reason Kevin Spacey got canceled. But pretty much, except for Rosario Dawson and Tracy Toms, it's the entire cast of Rent.
00:25:47
Speaker
the Broadway cast came back to play their roles in the the movie, directed by Christopher, Christopher, Chris, Chris Columbus, not Christopher Columbus, Chris Columbus, directed a whole bunch of other movies. Of course, Mrs. Doubtfire, Harry Potter, everything, every 90s movie, like, and I'm alone. Yeah. Um, but, um, it's a Bohemian rock opera.
00:26:11
Speaker
um tackles LGBTQ, the drug epidemic, and the AIDS i ah crisis, kind of what it's all about. It's all inner-city relationships and in New York City. um It's really good. The only problem is I think this went a little bit too far. I love musicals But this one a little bit too far in the in my love of musicals. It's just a little bit camping a little bit over the top I like I love I love Hamilton just because it's it's kind of a mix of hip-hop and History and every kind of hit me just right at this at the time but this is a little bit a little bit to music musical for me, but I It's really good. The story is good. Of course, at the time, you're thinking 1995 when this actually was released, 1996 when they got all the Tony Awards. Age Crisis was huge at the time.
00:26:59
Speaker
We had I remember we had stuff in school where they were talking about it all the time um But it was it was a big deal and it wasn't really brought into it the picture of The world like this play had done to it kind of made it normalize it I guess in a way And yeah, it's it's an okay movie story is good. It's just I um It's not my type of musical, I guess you could say, but, um, decent movie, and and it made me watch Tic Tic Boom right after it because I love that movie. and mostly mostly because Mostly because Andrew Garfield plays Jonathan Larson perfectly. So fucking good. The history of that musical, like, Rent, like I mentioned, Jonathan Larson died the night before this Rent was going into previews on Broadway, so you had no yeah no idea how successful it became.
00:27:49
Speaker
um He was living at the time that he was living in a a loft with a whole bunch of people with no heat in New York City. They had they had heat from like a barrel with with fire. That's what he was living in at the time of his death. um He had no no real success. Rent was going to be the big one. He didn't have a chance to see it become to fruition. But Tick Tick Boom was something is kind of his passion project before Rent.
00:28:11

And when he died, they took this project and a whole bunch of other stuff from the Library of Congress when they took his papers there. And Lin-Manuel Miranda, who, of course, Hamilton, um went in, he directed Tick Tick Boom, went in to the Library of Congress, got a whole bunch of his old tapes, scripts, songs, everything, put them into Tick Tick Boom, including this play that John Larson did called Boho Days.
00:28:37
Speaker
which is a song in the soundtrack, but that was the original play that he did in the early 90s before Rent. He kind of mixed everything together and made Tick Tick Boom. He did songs that were in the Library of Congress, mixed them into that play, and kind of also told the story of John Larson through the play.
00:28:56
Speaker
um especially after the Rent stuff happened and after he died. um like I believe in the original play, that and the original play came out in 2001, and one and i believe it was telling I believe it was talking about Rent at the time, how he was writing a musical, and that's basically, Tick Tick Boom did that too. like He was in the middle of trying to figure out his next big thing.
00:29:17
Speaker
But he ended never saw it come to fruition. But if you've never seen Tick Tick Boom, I suggest that over Rent. yeah um it's a great It's a great story, great movie. Andrew Garfield blows it up at the water. up for Wasn't that up for Oscar for film of the year? Or was it just his performance? Andrew andrew Garfield was up for performance. and It may have been up for Oscar too, because there's a lot of nominations for Oscar nowadays. but um yeah Great movie. Watch that one. Rent's pretty good too, if you're into musicals. It's a little bit too musical for me, but Tick Tick Boom is great.
00:29:47
Speaker
um I watched another movie that came out on Prime called Jackpot. This star is John Cena, Awkwafina, and Simu Yu, of course, is Shang-Chi. This is set in 2030. It's a dystopian lottery, kind of like Hunger Games meets The Purge, um created during the Great Depression of 2026. Wow, that's not too long or far away. yeah and And basically, the basic premise of this movie is in California and l LA they have a lottery. If you buy a lottery ticket you are in a drawing and if you get drawn you can win the big jackpot if you last 24 hours and everybody else who won a lottery ticket has a chance to kill you and win your big winnings if they kill you and Awkwafina is the girl in this movie who wins the lottery wins it and it gets chased for 24 hours and John Cena is become as kind of like a
00:30:44
Speaker
hired gun to protect her. um He gets a little certain portion of the lottery if he ends up helping her survive the 24 hours. Decent movie directed by Paul Feig, of course, he's done Ghostbusters Bridesmaids. We don't talk about Ghostbusters that much, the 2016 one, because it's trash. But with's reason yes um but Paul Feig, he was involved in The Office. He was involved in Freaks and Geeks. um He's involved in a lot of stuff that I liked in the early 2000s.
00:31:13
Speaker
Had a lot of cameos Michael Sean Michael Scott, of course stiffler from American Pie Adam Ray machine gun Kelly Bobby Lee Stanley from the offices in this um Decent movie. This is on Amazon Prime called jackpot. Very good um I started watching Bad Monkey on Apple TV. Kinda boring. ah The stars, um Vince Vaughn. Kinda boring. Set in Key West. um Set in Key West, but kind of Miami. He goes back and forth to Miami and they actually bring up ah Miami Metro PD. Which was kinda funny. be but the But the show was kinda boring. I didn't get any further than the first episode. but
00:31:54
Speaker
I did get into only in the murder Only Murders in the Building Season 4. It premiered this week. um Very first episode. It was great. um I was surprised as they usually with this show they they do at least three episodes. They only premiered one episode this year, which is fine. But it was very good. they're all good They've um all gone to l LA.
00:32:16
Speaker
um And they end up meeting these actors that are going to be playing them on screen. um They're going to be doing a movie about only murders in the building their podcast. And Eva Longoria is going to be playing Selena Gomez. Zach Galifianak is going to be playing Steve Martin. And Eugene Levy is going to be playing Martin. Sorry Martin Short is going to be played by Zach Galifianakis. And Steve Martin is going to be played by Eugene Levy.
00:32:38
Speaker
And there was an awesome cameo by Scott Bakula because the joke from the very beginning of this is Steve Martin martin had a show called Brazos. I can't remember what it's called, but he had a show when he was when he was younger. It was kind of like a Matlock detective kind of thing. um And Scott Bakula took his job. Scott Bakula, of course, from Quantum Leap.
00:33:04
Speaker
I actually had a quick cameo in this because his stunt double who is I can't remember her name but his stunt double is the same stunt double that he has and she's gone missing um but great and great so far first episode and and it's gonna be a weekly thing on Hulu it's pretty good um Lord of the Rings Rings of Power season 2 Um, first three episodes premiered yesterday. Um, it's on Amazon Prime. The problem with this show is just too fucking slow. Did you watch it? Did you have a chance to watch any of this yet? I have not. I'm going to watch it, um, after we're on tonight. I'll watch it. I'm going to get almost like one episode. I want to take my time with it. I'll probably throw out the week. So next week we'll give our impressions of the first four episodes. But, um, yeah, I've heard really good things about it. Um,
00:33:52
Speaker
But it is probably slow, because Lord of the Rings in general is kind of slow. Good, but slow, um to me anyways. um yeah But a lot of people are comparing it to like the two towers as far as pacing and stuff like that goes. So I'm looking forward to it. Yeah, ah yeah it's very slow. Telling the story, first the first season told the story of making the elf rings. um yeah And we know there's there's more rings that need to be made. And that's basically what the first three episodes are all about. Beginning to try to make those rings Um, so yeah, um, summer on is a big part of it now. So yeah, we got the big bag going forward. So we'll see where that plays out. Um, and you got one more thing you want to talk about for me. Yes. Um, one thing that's been taking up a lot of time this summer is, um,
00:34:37
Speaker
I started talking to a bunch of people on Twitter, obviously, and now we've kind of moved everything over to Discord. But we wanted to rewatch the DCEU and the DC anime films, starting with Flashpoint, of course, and starting with Man of Steel. So every Tuesday we're doing an anime movie, every Thursday we're doing a live action movie. We missed a few here and there as far as we go, but we watched them all finally. My summer of DCEU and DC animation is complete.
00:35:04
Speaker
Flashpoint is still my number one animated movie. I absolutely love that movie, but I hadn't seen about probably more than half the ones in the animated universe. And Darkseid Apocalypse War um or Justice League Dark apo Apocalypse War is outstanding. Fantastic. It was the last one in in the bunch. The one before that Wonder Woman's Bloodlines was absolutely fucking trash. Like that movie is just... It hurt me to watch that movie. oh Yeah, those are my two favorite out of that. And of course, on the DCEU end, my ranking didn't change. I still like, man, I still like his Justice League, Zack Snyder's Justice League a lot. You see it a lot more now that I'm more into Superman. When you watch, because we did watch Justice League, um you see you see much more of him being like the traditional Superman and Clark Kent and whatnot.
00:35:55
Speaker
um And Blue Beetle we watched last night. I'd only seen it the one time when we talked about the podcast, whatever, two years ago. when you're what A year ago, yeah, it came out last August. oh And I never even noticed the first time we watched it that the shield that the that Ted Kord had made was just a Nintendo power glove. So I fucking love that. I kind of blacked out for that when I saw that. I never noticed it the first time we watched the movie.
00:36:19
Speaker
um But yeah, it was a fun summer. um We were just watching them and then afterwards get on and talk about them for about a half hour, give rankings, reviews, stuff like that. But it was a good time. It's something to look forward to on Tuesday and Thursday nights all summer. So um yeah, I just wanted to bring that up real quick. And so that won't be taking up my time anymore. Thank God. Because I loved it, but at the same time, it gave me two nights where I couldn't like watch anything for, you know, just to watch it. and But yeah.
00:36:47
Speaker
Uh, with that being said, let's get into the news.
00:36:57
Speaker
And it's not a new set with a trailer on it. Uh, first trailer.
00:37:04
Speaker
Superman the Christopher Ray story this trailer is amazing. I can't wait for it to come out. This comes out in the theaters on September 21st and 25th Shortly after probably and we were kind of speculating in December probably be out on by Christmas time on max or thanks I'd say I wouldn't use the president watches Christmas Day It could be, yeah. for thanks bying But it's all about the story of Christopher Reeves and, of course, his accident and his philotropic work that he did for spinal cord injuries and all that, Christopher Reeves Foundation. Everybody who's seen this says it's amazing, including James Gunn. So I cannot wait to see it as well. Another movie, a trailer that I actually hunted down after I heard about it is called Woman of the Hour.
00:37:52
Speaker
This is a story I've always heard about about the dating game in 1978 where a man went on the dating game one of three contestants actually won During this time on the dating game, he was actually on a murderous killing spree, killed a bunch of women. um The woman that actually that actually dated him survived, did not get killed, luckily, because during this time he was killing a bunch of people. He ended up getting caught a couple years later, or a year later, in 1979, when he was arrested. But um Anna Kendrick, who is from Portland, Maine, um she was in Twilight, Pitch Perfect movies.
00:38:28
Speaker
um She's directing this, it's a directorial debut. It does look really good. i don't have I thought I had the slide for it. That's the next thing. Don't ignore that. It looks pretty good. um new New trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3. I had not watched the first two. um but These movies do look pretty good. Have you watched any of these movies?
00:38:52
Speaker
I have not. I was never a Sonic guy growing up. we were in car and when the third one comes out When the third one comes out, we'll watch them all okay and yeah talk about them because I do want to see them. I think I may have seen like parts of the first one, but i dont I don't remember. Yeah, James Marston. He's in every single one of these. Of course, he was Cyclops.
00:39:13
Speaker
Yep, and he wears a sweater in the movie, and on the sweater says, Donut Lord. A whole bunch of donuts on it, so I don't know what this, I have no idea what he does in the movie, I guess he's Sonic's friend. Sonic lives with him, I have no idea. But brand new trailer for Terrifier 3. Yes, let's go. I cannot wait. Set at Christmas time, this actually looked pretty funny.
00:39:38
Speaker
Um, but yeah, I don't know about these movies. I know know what they're go do do try to make us throw up at this time because they've pretty much done everything they can at this point. Yeah. To make us throw up. Yep. Um, weekend box office last weekend, Deadpool move rain at 18.3 million alien Romulus 16.2 and it ends with us as 11.8. So we're getting at the end of summer. Uh, but box office is definitely slowing down. Um, the Crow,
00:40:06
Speaker
bombed big time at the box office yes yes it did 4.6 million in the opening weekend against a 15 million dollar budget so it's a pretty one of the biggest losses of this year so far it's like borderlands borderlands came out on digital today which was we like three weeks after it debuted so we should be looking for this on digital in about two weeks yep yep yep Um, yep. And once the other, oh, uh, uh, trap came out today. We're going to review reviewing that soon as well. Um, rest in peace to Sid Vicious, Psycho Sid, Sid Justice, Sid Uley, um, for WWE, WWE, WCW. He passed away 63 years old. He had cancer.
00:40:48
Speaker
um um I know him more from WCW. We're gonna talk about that in a minute. You know him from growing up his matches in WrestleMania 8, WrestleMania 13 versus The Undertaker. um I know him from that infamous fall in the ring from the top rope where he broke his leg.
00:41:10
Speaker
It was live on television and not only did he break his, he broke his leg on the bottom, bottom half of his leg, but it broke and it was just hanging and dangling. You cannot miss it. It was direct screen grab on television for WCW. It was a pay-per-view, I believe. I can't remember. it They may have been Scott Scott Steiner at the time he was facing this is later in the WCW years but gruesome injury and that's the first thing I remember from it. um But he just posted just a couple weeks ago one of his last posts was ah he is hopeful that 2025 will be the year that gets inductive to the WWE all fame.
00:41:45
Speaker
I'm guessing that'll probably happen now. He was a big part of the early time right before the attitude era. Yep. And he was a big part of the company. Of course. Big part of the NWA WCW before then. um Yeah, he came in and said, just as a good guy turn on Hulk Hogan. Yeah.
00:42:03
Speaker
First person to kick out of the Hogan leg drop, is that correct? Yep, I believe so. So rest in peace to him. This is the next slide I headed up prematurely.
00:42:19
Speaker
Jurassic World new movie is called Rebirth starring Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali Comes out sometime in 2026, I believe. Comes out, no, 25. It's coming up two weeks before Superman and then two weeks after that is Yeah, it's so it's that Superman and Fantastic Four all get released in the same month next year The movie is going to take place five years after a Dominion. ah By the way, if you don't have that movie on digital and you didn't want to pay for it, it's $4.99 right now on iTunes this week. I just saw it and i it's the one movie I don't have because it was it's a trash movie.
00:42:54
Speaker
Yeah, but I ended up buying it because I just complete this as far as yep But I follows a team that is racing to secure DNA samples for the three most colossal creatures across the land sea and air I'm guessing Tyrannosaurus pterodactyl Brock and rock a source who knows but Yeah, July 2025, you're right. So, excited for that. um not I'm sure you're not excited for this. NBA at Netflix has a docuseries starting 5. Drops October 9th. Follows 5 NBA players through the 2023-24 season.
00:43:33
Speaker
One of the players of sugar is your arch enemy LeBron James. LeBron James. But it does follow Jason Tatum throughout the year in which they win the championship and have one of the greatest seasons in NBA history for the Boston Celtics. So I am looking forward to this. OK, cool. ah Yeah, it comes out on Netflix on in October 9th. Matrix and Back to the Future coming back to theaters. Matrix, 25th anniversary, so September 19th and 22nd of next month.
00:44:03
Speaker
And Back to the Future, part two, 35th anniversary coming out in theaters on October 19th and 21st. So we went to the 25th anniversary 10 years ago. Yes, that was awesome. For Back to the Future, Back to the Future, the first movie. 30 trilogy, yeah. 30, I don't remember what that was, 30 year? It was the trilogy. We just didn't stand for the third one.
00:44:26
Speaker
And we did not save the third one. um Greatest part about that was that the exact time of, I can't remember, Back to Feature Part 2, it was the exact time that happened. The time travel happened at the exact same time as the movie played, or something like that, I can't remember, something cool about it. Yeah, when he goes into 2015, it was the exact same time when the movie was being played.
00:44:48
Speaker
Yeah, so that that's exactly what it was, yeah. um A documentary that we're both looking forward to. I'm so glad they finally have a date, September 25th for Mr. McMahon, a Netflix documentary, series six episodes. Well, we talked about this before, but this documentary has been filmed for a very, very long time. It's supposed to be a career retrospective of Vince McMahon. that true However, during the filming of this is when all of the stuff came out for Vince last year.
00:45:17
Speaker
So not only does it talk about his career and and everything that happened in and w WWE, WWF in the year in the early 2000s, late 90s, but it also talks about all the allegations that happened last year. So you get a lot of it. I'm sure Vince probably quit the interviews after that.
00:45:35
Speaker
um yeah however However, I'm sure other people had a lot of opinions on it. um But this is done by the people that produced Tiger King. I'm expecting a lot of cool shit from this. Six episodes. I can't fucking wait. It's gonna be great. Comes out on September 25th. Wolves. George Clooney, Brad Pitt, directed by John Watts coming out on September 27th on and on ah Apple.
00:46:03
Speaker
ah It's going to be on Apple exclusive streaming. We were talking about that last week, but I did have an official date for that. Beetlejuice and Michael Keaton on Hot Ones. A lot of promos for this movie coming out next week. A lot of people are saying it's pretty good. If you like the first movie, you're going to like the second one. um Just premiered a couple days ago and Review Embargo is going to be lifted, I think, this weekend. Beetlejuice and Michael Keaton had a face-to-face on a fake Hot Ones kind of thing that they were doing.
00:46:33
Speaker
But, uh, yeah. Um, Wendy's coming out with a Krabby Patty this fall. Um, they're gonna be having a whole Krabby Patty. Of course, if you've seen Spongebob Squarepants, that's the place that Spongebob works. Um, and they're gonna be having a pineapple under the sea frosty and a hot and crispy and medium fry. Um, I don't know. I guess they they must have a, and they must have like a buffalo spice on there or something. I don't know. But, uh, yeah.
00:46:59
Speaker
ah Quentin Tarantino says his Star Trek movie was never going to happen, it's not going to happen. um Yeah, i think I think they kind of, that may have been just a past project. That's like that's like Ryan Johnson's Star Wars trilogy.
00:47:12
Speaker
Yep, yep. Um, he also says this week gone viral that he refuses to watch Toy Story 4 because the third third movie ended the story as perfect as you could. I've actually heard this before. Um, I have not watched Toy Story 4 because of the same, the same exact reason he just said, um, the story ended perfectly. Yeah, I don't think I have either, but yeah, he's right. Um, we talked about it before, wondering what the streaming platform platform subscribers are.
00:47:42
Speaker
I had this I saw this online. I want to bring it up Netflix has 260 million now think about this You're charging the minimum $6.99 for with ads for Netflix and you have 260 million subscribers monthly Imagine the amount of money that they're they're bringing into Netflix um even Amazon Prime 220 million Disney Plus 150 million. This is all worldwide max 95 Paramount Plus 63 hulu 48 million peacock 28 million yeah espn plus 26 apple tv 25 and stars I had no idea stars was even around but there's number 10 out of all these for 15 million yeah subscribers too but to be fair amazon prime gets a boost because that just comes with amazon it comes right um so anyone that has amazon prime which is a lot of people uh automatically get it so that boosts their numbers but yeah that's pretty incredible that netflix has that many subscribers
00:48:40
Speaker
260 million, that's crazy. ah Travis and Jason Kelsey have a new deal with an Amazon Wondery, which is their podcast studio. They have exclusive ad sales and distribution rights to their New Heights podcast for a hundred million dollars. no Not only are they making money in football, but they're making money with podcasting too. There is hope, Kevin. um Have you been watching Bel Air?
00:49:07
Speaker
and I really gotta catch up because I enjoyed the first season. Is there three now? The third one just aired last so week before. I got rid of Peacock right before season two and then got it again right after season two. I just never went back. Maybe I'll put that on the list for this winter.
00:49:23
Speaker
Um, usually there's some really good deals with Peacock. I think I got mine for a whole year for 30, a year for 20 bucks. It's 20 bucks. That's pretty like three months. They run that deal. Yeah. It's worth it. Um, the original Jeffrey actor from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air actually was in this last season. Um, and he has an interaction. He has an interaction with the Jeffrey from the new series as well. And this year in this series, but, um, yeah, I want to bring that up because I know you watch that show.
00:49:50
Speaker
Additional version of Marvel vs. Capcom fighting collection coming out on September 12th. This collects all the Marvel and Capcom fighting games, the arcade games. I believe there's like 12 or 13 of them on on this set. The physical version of was out on November 26th.
00:50:06
Speaker
um If you ever, like we talked about, Terminator 2 in the beginning of the show, but if you ever went to an arcade, chances are you played Marvel vs. Capcom in the arcade too, because these are big games back in the 90s. They're going to have a whole complete collection of all those arcade games from the 90s and 2000s coming out digitally on SN12, so that's kind of cool.
00:50:25
Speaker
Borderlands 2 came out today, ah Borderlands, the movie came out today on so on a on on Digital. If you want to torture us, maybe we'll watch that. I don't know. It looks so bad. It does. the cat I'm watching it at some point because it's Eli Roth, so I will watch it when I have nothing else to watch. I have such a backlog of movies. I'm gonna probably hold off on that one.
00:50:51
Speaker
Best Eli Roth movie in your opinion. I mean, my opinion is obvious is Thanksgiving. So we watched that last year. It's fucking incredible. For me, it's probably hostile and then Thanksgiving. And then he did cabin fever. So that's three. OK, OK.
00:51:08
Speaker
Can't be fever cheese. I forgot he did that one too with a writer strong Game stop coming out with a retro game stop retro new store um They may be turning their old game stock store some of them into this as well, but it's gonna be a new storefront They're may selling a lot of retro games a lot of retro game systems I was gonna focus on that the systems are going to included all the original Nintendo games and All the original Xbox, Xbox 360, PS1, 2, 3, Genesis, Dreamcast, Saturn, ah PS Vita, so yeah, it's ah kind of the big thing right now. Ten years ago the prices weren't too bad, now it's crazy to try to buy the retro games.
00:51:51
Speaker
yeah i just I was buying some a couple months ago but I had to stop because it was getting too expensive. Plus I lost my job. um so yeah Big news this week was Ted Lasso was eyeing a Season 4 green light with most of the main cast returning. Jason Sudeik is coming on as producer.
00:52:11
Speaker
I believe um Apple's going to be releasing the new iPhones in a couple of weeks. is If this is true, this will be this will be announced probably around that time. um They're going to probably announce that at 10 Lasso because this show is huge for them. um It's their number one thing. Besides shrinking, there's a couple of other shows they have on their streaming platform. 10 Lasso is the biggest thing they have. It's still like number two on all the streaming on Apple TV. It hasn't been out for over a year now.
00:52:40
Speaker
There isn't a lot of stuff on Apple, but it's funny because everything that's on Apple gets rave reviews. like It does. they just They put a lot of money into hiring the right people for their projects. like There isn't enough on Apple to make you want to be a regular subscriber, but every couple of months they drop something like a Ted Lasso or Shrinking, um and it gets rave reviews. The other thing is they don't have a lot of IP. It's all original content, too. Yeah. They don't they don't have any IP. It's all original. like the Ted Lasso's original story.
00:53:08
Speaker
Shrek is an original story. um So yeah, I can't wait. No word on if Jason Stakes is going to be acting in it. um But I believe Hannah Worrington, Brett Goldstein, and a few others have already signed on to be are for roles of it. So it's going to come back in some form. Didn't leave it wide open. Season 3 ended on a perfect note. um Ted Lasso went back home. i was I always did think that it would be great to see him in his element at home. but man Well, let me see. Speaking of comebacks, Oasis officially coming back getting together since 2009. They have not been performing together. They haven't even been talking to these two brothers. did um Did you see their Twitter interaction?
00:53:54
Speaker
um One of them goes, hey, unblock me. I've got to tell you something. And then he goes, OK, unblock. What do you have to say? And the other one just goes, bitch. They are great. If you ever hear him an interviews talking about each other, they they complain about each other all the time. ye But um yeah, coming back, doing a whole bunch of concerts in and in the UK, but probably coming to America to see if they could survive that long.
00:54:19
Speaker
um The last time they were together they got in a big huge knockdown drag out fight Right before they were gonna be performing their whole tour got canceled because of it So we'll see how long this one lasts before before the same thing happens again, but Kind of kind of iconic for the soundtrack of the 90s for sure. Yes Also, speaking of wrestling earlier, AJ Mendez, who played AJ Lee on wrestling married to CM Punk, she wrote a book a couple years ago, Crazy Is My Superpower. The series is heading to A and&E. I think she talked about this a few years ago, but it took steam again this week because I think it came out somewhere else. It's still being shopped around.
00:55:00
Speaker
um But this first time I've heard about it really. But yeah, AJ Lee, i think I think she was a great. At the time, women wrestling was kind of second back burner stuff. Then the the woman revolution happened, actually became a thing. And she's kind of the forefront to that. So, let's see where that goes. I know the movie with about Paige is pretty good with The Rock produced, so maybe it'll hit that kind of same note.
00:55:24
Speaker
Nikki Glaser straight off the Tom Brady roast is going to be hosting the 82nd annual globaling Globe award and coming out January 5th of next year um She is very funny. A lot of the great jokes from Tom Brady roast were from her and results and her and Tony Hinchcliffe, but I thought she did a fantastic job. I've been following her for like over a decade now. She's really funny. It's good for her. ah Brand new documentary coming out on Disney Plus on December 13th, Elton John Never Too Late. ah Full documentary about his life, um his his whole entire life and his his career. um So I cannot wait for that. I know you're a fan of that Elton John movie. I love Elton John in general.
00:56:08
Speaker
Yeah, and love his music, too. Some good Indian do teller is much older. Sam, Sam, yeah. um The only thing I ever got into was a little bit of the music, but like like Tiny Dance, almost famous. I love that when I first saw it. A complete unknown film about ah Bob Dylan, directed by James Mangold. um Brand new poster for that with Timothy Chalamet as Bob Dylan came out today. Edward Norton L. Fanning in that as well, coming out on Christmas Day. Brand new poster.
00:56:37
Speaker
for Pinocchio on Strung. This is the movie set in the Pooniverse. It's the very first, next movie in this universe coming out where they're gonna be having a whole Avengers-style Disney character, not Disney characters, fantasy character, Avengers movie at the end where all of them assemble, but ah Pinocchio's gonna be the next one, and Pinocchio looks like he stabbed Geppetto in the hand, so yeah, we'll see all about that soon.
00:57:05
Speaker
um
00:57:08
Speaker
Todd Phillips is talking about the Joker, comes out a little bit over a month from now, October 2nd I believe. He's talking about the music in the movie, he's talking about it not really being a musical, but the music in the movie is really just dialogue. It's just Arthur not having the words to say what he wants to say. um I kind of got that feeling from the trailers too. um He's very... he's very ah in um In his head, I think Lady Gaga is gonna help him get there too But I cannot wait for this movie a couple new character posters came out this week too with Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix as Joker A brand new game based on the Batman reportedly in development. Okay, yeah, so strike that reverse it willt move We will not we will not go by that. Um Agatha all along brand new trailer came out this week They're teasing who this character this little kid character is I believe it's gonna be a grown-up version of Billy want one of Wanda's son, but they teased it in the trailer um I cannot wait for this. They took a lot of inspiration the thing about I heard about this show this week they talk a lot of information and inspiration from I old 70s 80s horror movies, but they also are Doing all practical effects for it and I believe there's not a lot of CGA effects They did a lot of camera tricks a lot of other of practical effects which we've heard about on wearable by night a couple years ago So that's pretty cool if they're doing that a lot of horror horror tricks and stuff like that So this comes out on September 18th the first two episodes on Disney Plus. That's pretty cool Agatha Agatha all along

um Disney shared a 85th anniversary of Marvel ah video yesterday and showed some first looks at Daredevil born again, the Thundercats, and at the very end of it they showed the official first look of Harrison Ford as the Red Hulk. Full face of him coming out of the podium that we saw in the Comic Con trailer that leaked. Looks really good, seen it in HD. Fantastic Four! Currently filming, we see some more screen screenshots of the what they're doing in the background um we see a it looks like a helipad on top of Baxter building we see some of a city streets looks like a 1960s inspired 1960s inspired like Times Square in New York City we also see a statue

of Fantastic Four, Reed Richards, Johnny Storm, Sue Storm, and Ben Grimm, all in their characters. We're not sure if this is going to be in front of the Baxter Building or what, but it's a big, huge statue that was made for the film. And we also see the very first practical Ben Grimm, the thing. yeah I think this may have... freak Oh, God, sorry.

I think this is kind of just like there just before the CG, but this character is going to be a CG no no matter what. Yeah, I think it's for lighting, trying to track lighting and maybe get some shadows or something because the character is going to be CG. They already announced that it's going to be a CG. they just I think this is mostly for lighting and just set up stuff like that.
01:00:16
Speaker
I think so too. yeah that's basically And they did the same with Hulk. They did the same with Thanos. They just kind of yeah dressed dressed the set to make it so they can make the CGEs a year later, especially when it comes out in less than a year. 11 months from now, there's going to be something else. I have no idea how they're going to make it. oh They must have had a lot of previous time. That's a short time. Yeah, I mean, Superman's going to make it, obviously. But like not really this not as much as like Jurassic World. i'm not like This was pretty pre-production way before Jurassic World was even announced.

um So it's going to be interesting. Um, of course if they're doing a lot of stuff practically, um, outside of obviously his CG for Ben Grimm, the thing. Um, I could see them being able to, if they don't have a lot to do in post, yeah but it's, they're going to be cutting it close because the five month shoot, it's not going to wrap until the new year. Give or take. yeah Um, there's going to be interesting to see them nail it.
01:01:09
Speaker
yeah Yeah, I'm excited for all of next year. Not just Marvel, not just DC, but everything. We talked about 2025. Crazy year. And finally in news, we got the first official look at Gambit Channing Tatum surviving after after Wade and Wolverine left the void. um We see a deleted scene for Deadpool and Wolverine teasing Channing Tatum's Gambit. um As he's looking back at the camera, you see one of Marvel's sparkle circles and a glimpse of his eyes like he's about to leave the void. um Setting up maybe something will happen later on.
01:01:47

but speculation he'll be in secret wars or some sort of an x-men who knows but yeah after his performance and his the rave reviews everybody's talking about gambit the year of gambit is what they're calling it oh I really hope we see him again sooner rather than later but Channing did an amazing job yeah And that is it for the show. Next week is the beginning of the month, so we have a show and tell. um We're going to talk about Only Murders. We're going to talk about Rings of Power, episode four. um must of month The month of September is football month. We're going to start talking about football.
