TV and Movie Releases Discussion

00:00:44
Speaker
stuff. We've been watching cuz there's a lot of releases this week. Mm-hmm The one thing I haven't watched this week was that 90s show. Because I had a lot of movies I wanted to talk about, plus another show that was better came out. I wanted to get at least halfway through that. That 90s show, we can get to it when we get to it. There's so much stuff that came out. Plus that Suicide Squad thing came out on HBO I want to check out. Oh yeah, that's right, I saw that. I also didn't feel like reading subtitles because it's subtitled, which sucks. It's an anime, right? Yeah, it's an anime.
00:01:17
Speaker
So yeah, let's start off with what we washed this week.

So, Kevin, guess what I did

Batman Movie Review

00:01:37
Speaker
this week? Yes. I saw this poster on Facebook, actually. I know. I saw it on Facebook. I was very surprised. Well, you know why I watched it? Because we talked about it last week. We talked about it. It's the best Batman movie ever. I love that movie. And every time you say something like that, it's like, I always say to myself, why do I hate this movie so much? Why? You had a terrible first experience though. I did. But I've watched it three times and I've had the same experience watching it. Like, i there's parts of it I do like. I like the way they portray the penguin.
00:02:09
Speaker
I think Colin Farrell does an amazing job playing this mob under underbelly who ends up taking over the entire city of the ah but of gotham i was said boston of gothub Gotham's crime syndicate by the end of the movie so fitting that he has his own solo movie our series coming out in the fall but other than that Robert Pattinson is just so emo
00:02:39
Speaker
So, I understand why this movie was made. I get it. I really do. For this generation, makes sense for them. It's just for me, this is not my Batman. It really isn't. Like I love, you go back and you watch, you watch, bennet even Ben Affleck's Batman. He does an amazing job as Bruce Wayne. Right. He's the best combination of Batman and Bruce Wayne by far. If you've watched Chinatown this movie is Chinatown and then it's a it's a love letter to Hollywood Yeah, it's a derivative movie about it's a derivative of a lot of 70s movies that were influenced it clearly as It's clearly that's what it is. Like it's it's that crime noir that you got in the 70s late 60s And it's that noir feeling that you're gonna get probably from Spider-Man noir I think they're probably gonna be going down that same route with Nicolas Cage and just because it's just the thing right now but um just that setting it's it's it's not that it's weird it's just it's a week i don't know i i don't i really don't know why i think this movie is not the best batman movie it's i don't know for me like especially like the set pieces of gotham i think are amazing i think it's got some of the best cinematography in any superhero movie it does it does have a lot of great cinematography you're right
00:04:00
Speaker
As far as Pattinson being emo goes, I think for this story it works. Um, because he hasn't figured out the Bruce Wayne part, which I think we'll get in the second one. I hope so anyways, cause that's still my biggest complaint about Henry Cavill Superman is there's literally no difference between Superman and Clark Kent. Um, like you would be, you would see one picture of Superman and you'd be like, And you, if you knew Clark, can you be like, yeah, that's him late in the day of like smartphone and stuff like that. Um, but for this movie, I just, I love, I just love everything. Like this is my type of movie too, where like, I mean, seven is one of my top five movies of all time. This is also very similar to seven in a lot of ways and the way it's paced and everything. Um, especially the ending where he doesn't actually catch the guy. He he turns himself in a bench is essentially, um,
00:04:52
Speaker
I just I love everything about this movie and it sucks that you don't see it that way But that's why you know everyone has their own opinions and stuff um Of course my grudge for this movie is I do think it goes a little bit too long almost three i'm yeah that's kind of a I'm not in love with the Batman and Catwoman relationship. Although I think she's really good as Catwoman She reminded me of the animated series Catwoman the way she moved It's funny. She reminded me sure what met she reminded me of Michelle Pfeiffer in a lot of the ways that she was fluid in the role. Yeah, like very fluid, which is how the animated series was. and Michelle Pfeiffer, of course. Yep. Michelle Pfeiffer was a weird take on Catwoman, though. I love. I love. I love. That's my favorite. That's my favorite one. but So I like that more. I like that movie more than Batman 89. Of course. it's Yeah, me too. So of course I do. um Yeah, I watch it every December.
00:05:46
Speaker
But um yeah, I can't wait to see what they do next and I do really hope that he does have um that Bruce Wayne which I think is what the point of him saving people at the end because his journey in the beginning is like he's stopping those people from robbing the the Chinese dude in the subway, but he doesn't care about the Chinese guy. Like he doesn't care about that dude at all. He's just stopping bad guys from doing bad things. And then by the end of the movie, he has progressed to the point where he actually cares about the people to help them, which is why I love his journey throughout that movie is he learns to actually protect the people of Gotham that they shouldn't fear him. The criminals should fear him.
00:06:22
Speaker
I love that that arc. um Yes, the whole movie is very much like Ray's Lost Ark where everything would have happened regardless if he was in the movie or not, except for the very end. You're right about that. but But I do, I love that movie. I love the way it's paced. i love the cinematography. I like the direction. Pattinson's good in it. He's not great. We'll have to see what he does as Bruce because like I say, I mean, Affleck just nails both personalities um so well. um And it sucks we never got his Batman because apparently it was an incredible script and it was very like James Bond and it was like very, um it was like a detective story, but it was also like so action packed. But yeah,
00:07:06
Speaker
Yeah, the other thing, the other problem I have with it, it's probably the biggest problem I have is Paul Dano, I think he's a great actor, and the stuff that I've seen him in. um As a comedian comedic actor, i that's where I first saw him in The Girl Next Door. Yep, same. The other movie that he was great in was the milkshake movie, um the one with Dale Day Lewis. um No Country, no, is it no one? No, which? No, ah the other one that came out around the same time. the the we oil lewis won best
00:07:41
Speaker
actor and the reason why paul danno wasn't even recognized because he was up against daniel day lewis yeah yeah but you're talking about ah blood was that nope ah yeah yes it damn i'm right on that it's my but yeah that movie yeah The problem I have with his performance in this is so over the top. like it's It's to the point where almost 1960s Batman over the top. that's That's kind of what I got from this Joker 1960s Batman over the top. Right, and there is insane. Right, there is insane. And I like the way they played Arkham in this too. The Joker, I can go with that. I don't know if that'll ever be explored in the next movie. I don't know if that's what the plan is. The depth of change is look and stuff like that, I would think. yeah does that look I think i think he'll he'd be a great Joker. I just don't like the look that much.
00:08:31
Speaker
Um, which you saw in the middle-aged scene. You barely see it in this movie. This also made me think a lot of Brave and Bold of what James Gunn's going to be doing there. Because that's going to be the next big reincarnation of this character on screen. Um, are we going to see the old gray and blue Batman that's so iconic in the 80s and 70s? I would love to. I would love it. We have never seen that kind of tried it in the flash was kind of a bluish suit but not really
00:09:02
Speaker
yeah and i think this is the fact that james gun is goingnna go more fantastical with it is a great idea because we've never really had we had bamin and robin which was fantastical i guess look at these characters but that movie is just so corny and so like ninety s Like a cartoon. yeah so we'll see we'll see where he goes with it yeah we'll see um yeah i'd like to see like we have the detective i think i think as part as being a detective if you were to read the first like five years of batman comics
00:09:34
Speaker
I think this movie, The Batman, did an okay job with the detective part of it. I know that's one of the reasons that you like it too, because he's a detective for the first time, really the first time where he's going to the crime scene and exploring. Right, a little bit. But yeah, this is the very first time he's actually part of, almost a part of the police force. But that's a very, that's very much like the original comics, the comic run. Um, you get that in the original comic run was really dark too. So, right um, it's just the other thing I feel like that Pattinson does is the way he looks with his eyes, like they don't do the white eyes on Batman, which we may actually get in the James Gunn one, which would be kind of cool. We got a little, we got that right brief part in the dark night, but he liked the way he looks at his eyes look like they're just very white.
00:10:18
Speaker
which I love that about the animated series. And um they even had the nod to the 66 show with the statue and in the house and stuff like that. After I get blown up, you see the statue. So it has a lot of odes to other versions of the character, which I like a lot too. um But I mean, your complaints are mostly are valid anyways. But for me, it works. It just didn't work for you like it does for me. And as as the kids would say, so much sauce the way it was shot. Yeah, and the other thing I want to bring up before we stop this Gollum Bro. um I think that Andy Serkis as Alfred is really good. Yes, underutilized the first movie. Underutilized, great part of the story though because he's he's injured. um yeah Underrated actor, I mean you've seen him as Gollum, but as an actor himself, he was in the MCU.
00:11:10
Speaker
He's in a whole bunch of other stuff, and of course he does the mocap for the Apes movies, so that's probably that's why he was in this movie, but it's just is she's just such a great emot yeah emotive actor, and just amazing. I hope he shows up more. After he's injured, i mean no I'm trying to see this movie, and he reaches over and he grabs Bruce's hand, I still expect Bruce to just be like, get the fuck off me, fucking Alfred. Just because he cheats over like a piece of shit this entire movie. Yeah. And i'd love I'd love if they go back into the background of him being a MI6 or MI7 or whatever that is. I'd love if they went back to... Or even if they have to change that and do just a little bit of background on Alfred, I would love that too. That'd be cool, yeah. um Yeah, I love their dynamic and and towards the end I love that he kind of
00:11:53
Speaker
gives a retribution of his of his mother and father. like your Your dad was a good man. i like i do There's parts of this movie, little parts of it that I'd like. Stuff that's very recent in the comics, I think it was like 2016, a lot of that stuff became canon. but of court And of course the Court of Owl stuff, which is a lot of people are speculating the sequels will be involved with that. um That's all involved with the corruption of the city deep down and all all the older citizens of the of the city of Gotham. so and This is very much a good jump off point for that story if that's where he goes next.

House of the Dragon Insights

00:12:26
Speaker
but
00:12:27
Speaker
we'll get into all that later and of course we've got the we've got like i said brave and bold they're probably going to be announced to casting on that in within the next six months maybe even comic con we'll talk about that later but next up house of tracking episode two season two take two we have some audio issues so if there's a weird gap there that's why um The Duel of the Brothers. yes um I don't know, you must know a little bit more about this from the book. um other than Other than these twin brothers that one one was working for the greens, one was working for the blacks, and they had having this clash at the end and both of them perished under sword. Yes. The thing I liked about how they handled this in the show is
00:13:11
Speaker
In the books, they both gave each other mortal wounds and they died like days later. um Essentially, that's how it went down. But I like in the in this show where you don't know which twin is which the entire battle. And you still don't know which t twin won because um the twin that won says, apology is my grace or whatever. But he could have been talking to Reneira, or he could have just been saying that to Aegon before he killed himself. um So you still don't know which twin that was that actually won. um Because after he killed his brother, he realized there's no, like, why am I, like, I just killed my brother, the only person I care about. um Because in the books, they both give each other mortal wounds, and they end up, like, basically hugging each other and just, like,
00:13:52
Speaker
being like, I love you, brother, blah, blah, blah. You're my best friend. I'm so sorry this happened, type stuff. And then they die a few days later. um So I like how they changed up in this, where they, you still don't really know which brother that was. um Coming off it, you might have thought it was the one that was fighting for Renier, but then at the same time, you might have been saying, I apologize, my grace, because he could have struck down Renier after killing his brother, but decided it wasn't worth it once his brother was dead. um I thought this episode was good. um I knew exactly where it was going. The second I saw Christian Cole, I was like, it's gonna end with the brothers. um which I think I texted you during it, or I might have been texting somebody else from work.
00:14:32
Speaker
um But yeah, good episode. um Six left. um I think I know where it's gonna end off on, I'm guessing, but it could not also. Because there's a lot of stuff between what happened at the end of this episode and what will happen then that I don't know how much we're going to get. um So yeah, good episode. Do you like it? I did. and I liked it a lot. I like where the season is going. And of course, six more episodes. so yeahp this The season has been very dialogue heavy with like yes a lot of action towards the end basically is like yeah everything leads up to like the last 15 minutes of being all action in both or
00:15:14
Speaker
big plot things like in the first episode and then this one. yeah I wish we did spend more time with those brothers like I think it would be cool if they were written of course George wrote the story without knowing they're into show if they were written in the fact that like maybe they didn't perish till like much further on we actually got to know them a little bit better it probably would have hit a little bit more but there's still a great duel a great fight scene. Yep, I liked it a lot. um So that's on Sundays. The Acolyte. Episode 5. Now, a lot of people, like I mentioned to you in text, the internet is very, very yeah pissed off at the Acolyte.

Acolyte Series Analysis

00:15:48
Speaker
Yes.
00:15:49
Speaker
For a lot of reasons that I, I just, I, there's some of them I understand, some of the continuity and there's some of them that I don't understand because this episode had some of the best lightsaber battles of any Star Wars ever. Yes, it was very good. The only issue is um like people are trying to say like is better than the prequel stuff or they were saying actually that was better than dual the fates the showrunner was and i mean i suppose in general like he does that sweet move where he stabs the jedi and he pulls another jedi into the sword also oh yeah um that was fucking sick um
00:16:24
Speaker
Those fight scenes were awesome. But the issue is like, for me anyways, I don't really care about any of the people in this show. Yeah, I don't care about any of them. The only one is that Sith. That's it. so I like the Sith and I like Soul. yeah In general, I mean, the writing has been very um inconsistent to say it nicely. Like it's especially between May and her sister. Like it's just it's like And then she gives herself a haircut with a light, Sarah, which I was like, what the fuck are we doing here? But you know like you know what I thought? What's that? i I thought that this would have been a better intro to the series as a movie. And this is like the beginning of a movie, yeah because maybe maybe you have a little bit of story, but they had way too much story before this episode. Getting four episodes before we got to this one, telling the story that they've told so far.
00:17:17
Speaker
where this is what we wanted to see we wanted to see some infiltration of it we could have seen a jedi coming in exploring why is this wookiee being killed and then the rest of the story could have played out within the rest it could have been a movie a tv movie or something that could have told the rest of that story And the whole thing about, um, obviously in episode one, we were talking about this on texts where my boy Kiati Monday says the Sith have not been seen for a millennium thousand years. Um, and this is about a hundred years before and smile overren or uh, what's his name? Uh, I forgot his actual name. The show is Kyle show. He's in Colorado. But he says, you can call me, you might call me a Sith. And arm I really hope that that's not actually what he is. Because if you look at him, he doesn't have like the Sith eyes like most Sith's do, except for Dooku. I hope it's more that he's like the founding father to the Knights of Ren. I do have that in the notes. That's what I would hope. And the reason for that. The reason for that is Kylo Ren's music plays at the end of this episode when he acted very before the credits roll. And his mask, obviously. And his mask is very reminiscent of the Knights of Ren from the yeah of the sequel. i hope i' all these people i would rather for no reason I would rather see that too, you're right. um However, I still think he has a master. I think that master will be revealed or hinted to by the end of this season.
00:18:51
Speaker
And it probably will be this the whole speculation for me from the very beginning was Darth Plagueis will have a part in this um Whether he is a new padawan that's going to be found and he'll be the one that will become a Sith later on in the Sith back um also the whole Sith thing the whole speech was you mean You may it may be I could be I may be a Sith or whatever. He says yeah so so he didn't yeah He didn't actually give us it a There's so many gatekeepers with canon. Yes, especially like Star Wars theory is like one of the big ones where he just goes on and on about the prequels and about how pretty much everything else but the prequels and the OG suck and George Lucas is the master of all this and it's like Eventually somebody else was gonna do Star Wars Dave Filoni had a pretty big hand in this show so I mean I was sure after dinner I wasn't sure if he did or not the show was pretty much written
00:19:48
Speaker
And then he came in when they started doing rewrites of the show. And the show runner is the one that said he was the one that told them to do the witches differently than what they had originally done. um okay And a lot of that stuff was his idea. But he's not a producer on the show, so I don't think he had like, he wasn't hugely involved, but like he had like he had some influence over them because they talked to him on a daily basis while doing the show. um so I really do hope that by the end we got three more episodes that all this cannon bullshit that everyone's fucking pissed off about just gets cleared up and Because they're really annoying me on my fucking timeline. It's really starting to piss me off um Because there's so many gatekeepers with the Star Wars community like like we saw the prequels we were like remember the feeling of seeing the prequels and
00:20:37
Speaker
thinking what we thought we were gonna get, and then we end up getting like fucking politics and all this stuff. and But like me there's a whole generation of kids that grew up on those, and now they're 30 years old, and they're the ones that like are so much invested, because when they were kids, the Clone Wars TV show was out, and there was so much more stuff for them. like When we were growing up, we had the original trilogy, and that was it. A couple books, but we weren't reading the books for the most part. um So they're all gatekeeping like what can work and what can't work. um They're all mad. Nick Gileard wasn't brought back for these by Disney and stuff. And I'm like, the dude's like 74 years old. Why do you want to do the choreography on this shit anymore? Um, but yeah, I mean, overall this episode was the most entertaining. Uh, and it's not even close. yeah Um, no it's the, it was the most aert entertaining and the best lightsaber stuff we've seen yeah from Disney.

Lightsaber Battles and New Elements in Acolyte

00:21:31
Speaker
Yep. You're right.
00:21:35
Speaker
Yeah, from Disney, I'd say. I think you're right. The Obi-Wan Vader stuff was cool, but they didn't go far enough with it. It could have been cooler. But they they did have stuff. They shot it like the OG trilogy lightsaber fights, where they were a little bit slower and stuff. Like, this dude just comes out and just fucking goes ham on all the Jedi's. And yeah, not only that, there are characters in this battle that guy that have been from the very beginning of the series kind of played like oh there's some this is a nice cool intro to this character well yeah they're marked yeah they're pretty much everyone's dead except for soul yep except for soul and the two twins who ended up switching reversals they reversed uh each other um the the bad twin went with uh soul and is trying to infiltrate the jedi so yeah um
00:22:23
Speaker
yeah Major loss on the Jedi side. The other thing I wanted to bring up, the lightsaber duel. There's a very cool thing that his armor does called Cortotus. a cor cotosis yeah it's a It's a metal that was in the expanded universe. Legacy universe is what they call it now yep for Star Wars. um It's an armor that was in the books and all the stuff back in the day that they brought back into canon. Yep. Where a lightsaber will hit it and it powers down the lightsaber temporarily for like 10 seconds, 15 seconds. Yeah. Very cool to see that in mid battle where the Jedi's are like, where the fuck's happened to my lightsaber? Um, and when, he just when I saw that tellinging him at first, I was just like, wait, he's headbutting a lightsaber and it's going out. And then obviously I looked it up and saw that it was cortosis. So I was like, Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Cause I never really read much about that stuff, but yeah. No, no, no people didn't know about that. It's cool. They brought that into the actual, now it's that's canon. So that's cool.
00:23:13
Speaker
He's been doing that so now that you say that he's a part of this that makes sense that stuff Yeah, that's coming back into canon. Yeah so um So yeah, we'll watch that. We'll watch the next next episode on Tuesday and talk about that but the whole series as a far like the The characters you don't care about except for Saul and this new Sith. I really do like him I think he was yeah, I mean it's kind of a bumbling way and You could. I mean, he's the only other male on the show. Yeah. So I mean, I was hoping it would be the mother, maybe one of the mother survived the witches. um But I don't know. He played it off so well, like once he took off the mask and everything like he just was a badass. Yeah. Yeah. the He's kind of a bumbling idiot. And then all of a sudden he became this bad. You want us it's just you want to say your theory on. So it's recorded for ever.
00:24:05
Speaker
I will say my theory. um i think because there's a same There's a thing that the Sith kid says to Saul. Saul feels a familiarity with him before he takes the the reason why he's going after the Jedi Order is because I think that this kid may have been fathered by Saul. yeahp And of course as a jedi member of the Jedi Order, especially if you're a master, you're not supposed to have any relationships, especially sexual, no children, no no no no nothing to hold on to. You're supposed to be a Jedi through and through. So if he has a child, the Jedi Order, if he doesn't get kicked out of the Jedi Order, he'll be killed by the end of this episode. yeah
00:24:49
Speaker
And um I mean, there's also Sol's very, Sol's very Qui-Gon-like, um where he kind of bends the rules of the Jedi Order, which Qui-Gon did when he brought Anakin back to train, because Anakin shouldn't have been trained. What's her name? She should not have been trained because of she was filled with so much anger, yeah and they took her in. um So I could see that definitely being something. um There's a connection. There's a connection there somewhere. I haven't seen it too many. I haven't seen it too many, ten too many places, but yeah i kind of I kind of thought that the minute I saw it. Could be maybe a nephew or something too. Who knows? But there's got to be a connection somehow. Yep. And they're both Asian. I mean, there's not too many Asian people in the Star Wars universe. They look kind of like identical in a way. I hate to say that being a racist that I am, but it's the truth. That is a joke, by the way. Don't cancel me.
00:25:41
Speaker
on episode 131 we don't need that but um so yeah we'll talk about that next week next episode the boys episode five came out yesterday um great comic con parody of votcon um the techniques it's so funny like we're doing we're doing phases seven through nine and yep extreme detail or whatever they say. yes yes excruciating detail It's funny because I watched the Batman earlier that day and then when i watched though when I watched this I saw the Tech Knight. Tech Knight came back um and the Tech Knight is the Batman spoof of this universe which is fucking fantastic.
00:26:20
Speaker
and they also did a guardians of the galaxy spoof in this with the a couple of cameos from gen v with sam and kate came back yep um so we this is speaking of gen v this is a continuation of gen v so it's a good thing i watched that series because They are now looking for this virus that'll kill Supes. And that's where everybody in the boys are going to try to find find them with this virus was this where they ended up going and they go to this farm that they're experimenting on animals with the V with this with this stuff this superhero serum.
00:26:54
Speaker
And at one point he says something about Kentucky fried fucking massacre because the chickens go on a murderous rampage and start trying to kill them and flying around and then the and then the sheep do that and then there's a there's a Bowl that does it's it's a great great like And the episode ends like the greatest thing ever and ends with old McDonald had a farm in the credits. Yep It's fucking fantastic. But the other great thing I think this is one of the best scenes of the boys ever Mmm is when Huey's dad is given comp compound V Because he's brain dead. He's gonna die instead of taking him off life support his mother gives him this to to make him come alive and
00:27:37
Speaker
Well, he comes back to life and he has the power. We're not sure what the power is until he starts showing up with blood around him. He's got blood on his hands, he's got blood on his and on his ah his ma has dress, his hospital gown. He becomes invisible. He doesn't know how to control it, so he goes through people, but he stops right in the middle of them and then when he becomes visible again, he's covered in all their insides because he's stuck right in the middle of them. I think that's a great, great visual. There's one scene where he walks into a hospital room into a patient who's flirting with a nurse.
00:28:14
Speaker
yeah hes asking her around Yeah, he's asking her out and then he just stops right in the middle of the patient and he just dies immediately because he just He just becomes right on the floor. yeah Yeah, his gown is completely covered in blood. I think that's a great visual um Of course, Simon peg came back to play him um temporarily because by the end he they did he did succumb but um I thought that was great a great way to show that power and it was kind of a menacing Hospital scene throughout that whole entire scene. I thought that was great
00:28:46
Speaker
um Overall, um there are a lot of complaints for this, too. That's why I hate the internet this week. um I think- I didn't see many. That's funny. You said that, and then I went on. I didn't see many, but then it could be who I'm following. It could be. I'm following a lot of the stuff that I, like, a lot of the news stuff that I follow for to get news for the podcast. And you're talking about, what in the comments like, Facebook or Twitter? It's not Facebook. I don't go on Twitter that often. Okay, yeah. I went to Twitter and didn't see, like, many people were complaining. Most people I talked to liked it a lot. But there's a lot of cool stuff, and i like I like the way that Homelander and his son is kind of playing out in this too, where his son is very shy, although the kid's voice is fucking annoying. I think the kid's shy and Homelander's kind of bringing him out of the shell a lot. and
00:29:28
Speaker
I think they can have two menacing forces by the end of the series. And you think the kid's going to turn into more like a Superman, unless like his dad. But then he's like, you want to help people, right? And then he makes that that chick slap the dude. yeah And he just has that like grimace, like he's really enjoying making this person do that. Just keep sucking on his kids keeps sucking on his milkshake. But yeah, it's a great, it's a great, I thought it was a great, great episode. um Yeah. And I can't wait to see where this when the show fires on our cylinders. It's incredible. Also, do you think Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a figment of of butcher's imagination. I think he has something he's the only he's the only person that's interacted with him No, I think single scene with him. I haven't heard that theory I don't know where you heard that but I think that's a great theory and I think um That makes perfect sense and there's something going on with with him because he's because butcher's kind of going crazy too at the same time because he's like dying and
00:30:21
Speaker
And he has that thing crawling around on his, it's almost like yeah a parasite crawling around in his brain. yeah i' ah It's funny, I'm wondering if it's like a venom like symbiotic symbiotic relationship. I'm wondering if that's what's going on. That makes perfect sense. yeah And maybe that brings- We're talking about it on our Twitter group chat the other day. Somebody brought that up and I was like, that's fucking genius, yeah. I heard i have true haven't heard that. That's a great theory. So we've had great theories tonight that hopefully will play out in our in our future watches of this stuff. But um yeah, that'd be a great theory if it's like a symbiotic relationship. Like, because a worm would be, a or something like that would be a a symbiotic relationship going into a host, so.
00:31:02
Speaker
Very cool. That's on on Thursday nights. Um, we saw the finale of who killed wcw now we've been talking about we've talking about the Eric Bischoff. Was he the reason Vince Russo? Was he the reason? I think after watching this episode we'll get into it at the end because the last question I have is going to be who killed wcw that's going to be our opinion but the brass at tnt right during the aol time warner merger Did not want anything to do with WCW in wrestling. um I can't remember the guy's name that they brought in. Absolutely hated wrestling. It wasn't Seagull, was it? Was that it was that the other guy? That's the guy that had already worked there, that he okay yeah kind of made the deal happen. but um But this guy, he came in. He's like, I hate wrestling. Get it off. Just get rid of it. And that's exactly what happened.
00:31:56
Speaker
They had, at one time, an offer for $67 million for Eric Bischoff and this group of investors. They were going to come in, buy WCW, start a new pay-per-view on March 1st called The Big Bang, which was going to restart the whole and rebrand everything WCW. They were going to have a TV studio in Las Vegas. They already had all the deals in place, $67 million on the table. And then TNT, TBS, Time Warner, cancelled WCW. So the TV deal was gone. So all they had was the company itself, the wrestlers, the and that's it. They had no television deal. And that's exactly and that's what exactly what happened. And some shady shit, like the the way they kind of talk about it, some shady shit happened behind the scenes where
00:32:45
Speaker
the 67 million dollar deal went down to a little over 4 million for WCW and they went right directly to Vince McMahon and sold it right under Eric Bischoff in this group's Like they had no idea what was going on took them yeah took him by surprise um And of course we know the history on screen of what happened um Friday before this nitro this was a announced and They already announced that this could be the final nitro ever this was announced like the week before by Eric Bischoff They were planning to do a relaunch like they're gonna take two months off or whatever. did Yeah relaunch
00:33:19
Speaker
Yeah, and so they were they already did it. They're kind of doing like a bachelor the beach thing where they're outside I can't remember what they called it, but it was like night at champions or something like that They're gonna bring in a whole bunch of wrestlers and they're gonna do they're gonna do matches and title matches and stuff on the show and like Booker T says and it was kind of almost like trying to show off for the WWE brass at the time they didn't have no idea at the time but I That's exactly what ended up happening for him. But the final nitro happened on that Monday I was I was watching and I'm sure you were too because the very beginning of it opens with Vince McMahon Pretty much giving his victory speech like I won This is all in my hands now and then towards the end the big swerve was in Storyline because at the time him and Shane McMahon were feuding his son. Yep, and And Shane came in storyline wise and bought WCW out from under him and then the whole shitty innovation angle happened like six months within the next six months after that but
00:34:16
Speaker
um There was a title match in there where Booker T won the title. Um, that kind of submitted to him like, yeah, I actually may have a place in the new regime. Whatever happens to the BCW if they, at the time they weren't sure if they're going to do another show after they were just going to move it into the WWE, which is what they ended up doing. Um, so he kind of had a, had a, uh, card, a card and get out of jail for free card for WCW as it was going down the Titanic. Um, so this man won the war.
00:34:48
Speaker
And the whole overarching story of this is not only did he bury the fe flag by by winning the war, but he buried buried all of the WCW talent eventually and within the next year that came. All the WWE superstars just just killed them in matches. um he made He made Diamond Dallas Page look weak. He made a lot of people that were on WCW television look extremely weak. um And the other thing, can I just say one thing? Yeah, go ahead. The way this invasion was handled is why I stopped watching wrestling for a long time. I know. Yeah, it was part of it. And of course, the other part is I was kind of, you know, getting older or whatnot and going after college soon.
00:35:28
Speaker
But that was one of the main reasons because why I pretty much was done watching wrestling. Pretty much we'd watch the pay-per-view still, but I didn't watch it like I did. I wasn't tuning it every Monday night because I did not like how they handled this invasion because it was all so much potential. It was all mid-carters, all the big guys like Kevin Nash, like the NWO, Hulk Hogan, um Goldberg, were all under contract getting paid millions of dollars, being offered 50 cents per share, 50% of the shares that they had to be bought out. A lot of those guys, the smaller mid-card guys, that's still a lot of money to them, but for somebody like Goldberg that has like three years left on his deal,
00:36:12
Speaker
Or it was a three year deal that he was waiting out. that should he waited He did a smart thing and waited for that deal to end and debuted it two years later. and am i Even like Booker T, who was the WCW champion, he because well he didn't want to he didn't want to sit around for a year, he had a year left. Plus he was still getting paid like a mid-carter. So he figured he'd get his foot in the company before, and then he just renegotiated at the end of the year. And his debut, everyone in this documentary, I think he's the one that came out like looking great. like Booker T came out of this documentary looking outstanding. Not only that, but his WWE debut was probably the best of yeah all. the You talk NWO Goldberg and him, yeah he debuted attacking Stone Cold Steve Austin, the number one yeah as king of the ring. And that was a great debut.
00:37:00
Speaker
And to be well one was great too very psychological investment inside the Goldberg one was great and but then it stumbled over the year to come Booker T had the best career but Booker T had the best career coming out of WCW by far He's basically he basically became a ww WWF guy He did is what happened so very much so of So question I have for you after watching this documentary we know a lot about Vince Russo We know a lot about Eric Bischoff. We know about the Time Warner stuff that happened who killed WCW in your opinion
00:37:36
Speaker
Time Warner. I think so too. They were the ones that wouldn't let it air on the channel. What's Ted Turner? Yeah, yeah. As far as the quality of the show, I think it all caught up to, I think it was Eric, on Eric Bischoff's, because it all eventually caught up the fact that he was spending so much money. Yeah. And it just got to him. On talent. On talent, yeah. Because he spent so much money on talent and he gave too many people too much control. Yeah. Vince would never do that because the buck stops with Vince. With Eric, it wasn't Eric's money. um Yeah, I think he did he did a fantastic job building the brand don't get me wrong He fucking knelt knocked out of the park building the brand But once they got to that point they plateaued because then all of a sudden it's like you can't take the belt off Hogan goes Oh Hogan doesn't want to lose or you can't push this guy cuz The other guy that's how far above him on the car doesn't want to work with him, which is what happened with Jericho They wanted to build a Jericho and Goldberg program and it wouldn't happen as Goldberg wouldn't work with Jericho.
00:38:32
Speaker
How far can that NWO story go? Now, when we were doing what watch we were were doing that rewatch two years ago, well you were i I stopped it i stoped the WCW rewatch fairly quickly because the NWO stuff gets stale. And not only that, everybody on the roster was joining joining the NWO. And it was like very small to mid-card cruiser race. They were staying and getting their caps. The best matches were the Chris Benoit's, the Eddie Guerrero's, Dina Linko's, Chris Jericho's. And they were like in the first hour of the show. Yep. First match of the night. Yep. Yep. I also think going to three hours helped kill WCW when they started doing three hour nitrous. Yep. Yep. But yeah, who killed WCW? I think there's a lot of factors. I think the audience factor who killed the audience.
00:39:16
Speaker
was Vince Russo, I think who killed the business part of it. I think it was that Eric Bischoff who actually put the nail on the coffin was TNT and Time Warner. When that deal happened and they wanted nothing to do with it, it was stunning. Yeah, if they allowed it to remain on TV, then Eric would have bought the company and it at least would have continued. I don't know if it ever would have gotten back to where it was. But it at least would have continued. I think if he had owned the company he would have done things differently Like I think he would have basically been like the mr. McMahon and like you had full control box stops here Yeah, yeah um as opposed to giving control to everyone which he had to to get them to be part of the company to begin with So if he doesn't give them that control They don't go to where they get to but they also don't plateau. It's it's the whole thing.
00:40:01
Speaker
yeah yeah Yeah, very strange time for wrestling in the 90s because it was the audience was huge. um Even the shit that was going on, the ratings that they were getting is still better than what they're getting now. Some of the some of the stuff. and It did start to go down quite a bit towards the end. um So yeah, great show. This is on Vice. um like i Like we've mentioned before, it's on iTunes. Some of the episodes are on YouTube. Yeah, seven bucks on iTunes if you want to watch. It's great. um It's all done by the guys who do Dark Side of the Ring, so you know kind of know note what you're getting into, produced by The Rocks Company. so um So let's get into this before we get into the rest of it. We are way behind tonight, but that's okay. um Dexter Watch 2024 continues with an amazing season.
00:40:47
Speaker
Season 4 of Dexter, which you've been telling me about for years, yeah is when John Lithgow joins the cast from the very first minutes of this season as a serial killer. nope his no so dope There's no question that he's a serial killer from the very beginning that they're going to be playing out throughout this whole entire season. yeah um And his story and his his his story arc and his parallels with Dexter are amazing. um towards Towards the end of this season, or maybe to the middle to the end, you realize that Arthur, who is his character's name,
00:41:23
Speaker
Not only is he a serial killer, but he's a family man. He has his own family. He lives in a beautiful house in Miami. And Dexter is kind of- Which you don't know about until like episode six. Yeah, like midway. Dexter's following him thinking he's gonna like go kill somebody at this house and then he opens the door and he starts hugging. He's got a family. Yeah. Um, and then Dexter sees like, wow, this, this is what could happen because Dexter's kind of struggling with that and juggling with that right now too, because he has a kid on the way. Um, he has this family that he started with Rita and the children. Um, and he's got a son. So like where, where is this going to go? Like where?
00:42:02
Speaker
right Where is Dexter gonna go? Is he gonna be a family man? is he is can he Can he juggle being a murderer, being a family man, and not have not have the rate repercussions? How long could that go on? um That's been the ultimate struggle throughout this whole entire season the season before. of It's been hinted to from the beginning. like How can you be a murderer and be so in love, right take care of this family? Especially if he has conversations with his father, especially during this season about that stuff. Yeah, um so hes kind of like he kind of like sees maybe a silver lining. Is this possible? Is Arthur really doing it? And then he realizes going further down the season, there's a lot more to Arthur than he shows to the to the ne to the real the real naked eye. um There's a Thanksgiving episode. There's a Thanksgiving scene.
00:42:51
Speaker
There's a crazy scene where Arthur's having family... um We'll get into the specifics because... But Arthur's son invites Dexter to Thanksgiving. Because he's afraid of his father. Because he's afraid of his father. There's there's an ultimate fear. The Dexter sees that the kids, the mother, have every time Arthur has like kind of like an angry outburst. And he witnesses it first hand at the Thanksgiving table when he's invited to the Thanksgiving dinner. And Arthur just goes completely, like, verbally crazy with the family. um His voice gets very, very, like, very mean, very me-spirited. um He breaks his son's finger in an argument, like, while Dexter's out in the other room, Dexter comes back and he looks at him like, oh my god, what has he done to you?
00:43:41
Speaker
um Overall, the whole entire parallels between them as was fantastic this season. um Arthur's years of being a family man tortured his entire family, gave them straight fear, um hope for survival. um What keeping what keeping the two live separate can do to a serial killer and his family is kind of a warning to Dexter um A warning that came too late now. Yes before we get into the all the twists because I have five twists that happened in this season
00:44:17
Speaker
um Arthur has a Lionel train. He has a state-of-main box car now This this is a very a box car. yeah Yeah, I have that not only that I have the same exact train um I have this whole set as a set I got in the 90s Very very cool. I had the same reaction when I watched the Sopranos with Bobby Baccala had had his line. Yeah So five twists first twist Quinn's girlfriend, who was a reporter is a is revealed to be his long lost daughter that nobody knows about. Arthur's, yes. Arthur's arthur's author's daughter, um who has been, he kind of knows about his murderous rampage of how he is. um But she doesn't know all the details. She doesn't know all the details. And she ends up taking it into her own hand and kills officer or ah FBI agent Lundy.
00:45:10
Speaker
who I absolutely love. And then I was pissed when he was when he was killed. And Deborah was shot in that scene, of course, too. And there was a whole play out of that as well. um Second twist. ah Arthur is not the Trinity Killer. He has a cycle of four. um We thought it was a girl in the bathtub, woman falling off, falling to her death in a jump. And the third one was a strangulation, correct? No, the third one was the hammer to the head of a guy. Hammer to the head. Yes. Yes, that's right. and the But there was a fourth there's a fourth one, a first one, the very first one. All of these killings represent someone in Arthur's life. Yes. The first one was, one of them was mother, his sister, and his father. Mother was bathtub. Yeah, mother was bathtub, sister was jumping, father was hammer. Because he because he killed his own father. Yes.
00:46:01
Speaker
But the fourth cycle was a child that he abducts, ends up burying in cement. The child is representing Arthur as a child going through all this trauma in the beginning of the cycle. And the reason why I want to know that is because it's a different section of the FBI. It wasn't a homicide. Yes, it wasn't a homicide. yeah It was a missing person's case, and right the how that played out and the how that story played out, great, amazing twist. It wasn't a trinity, it was a four cycle. I thought that was great. When Dexter figures it out, you're like, oh, shit. Yeah. um The third twist, arthur Arthur finds out that Kyle, who is with the name that Dexter gave him, was not his real name, it was not his real identity, goes into the police station.
00:46:48
Speaker
goes into the homicide, goes into Dexter's office face-to-face with Dexter, and they have a showdown, which would not happen without cameras nowadays. right This was so much fucking awesome tension. when he When he picks up the laminate and he goes, hello, Dexter Morgan, yep and just the look in Dexter's face, you're just like, oh, fuck. Yep, which we'll play out later on. um Fourth twist, amazing twist again. Debra finds out about Dexter's mother. She's been doing research this whole entire season finds out that he was how he was adopted um finds out that he has a brother and
00:47:26
Speaker
who ends up being the ice truck killer who was her boyfriend. In the first season, yes. In the first season. Incredible twist that she finds out. um She tells Dexter, Dexter plays it off like he's surprised that he had a brother, that he's the ice truck killer. It's amazing how this plays out. I know there's going to be a continuation of this. I know a little bit. The problem that I have in the series, which I'm going to get into next, is if you go forward on, what am I watching on Paramount? The little preview of the next episode gives you a blurb of what happened in the episode before. ah So the fifth twist I knew about because I was looking ahead, which I shouldn't have done. Yeah, I don't know why you did that. Rita, his wife, at the very end of the last few minutes after Trinity is killed by Dexter. Yes, because dexter basically Dexter sends, is like gar basically is like, he knows my identity, so I have to get my wife out of town, and then she comes back to get something in the house.
00:48:21
Speaker
so he kills the trinity killer and then he gets the voicemail and calls her back and your heart just fucking sinks to the floor Yep, and if you hear the phone in the house, he's looking for Rita and finds her in the bathtub, bled out and dead. And that's where that's where that season has a huge cliffhanger. Rita, a main character from the very beginning, gone. um Does come back, I watched the very first, maybe two episodes of season five, because I wanted to see the aftermath. I love how they did the ah continues the first date. I love how they did the first date. And yeah he was only on the first date and he picked that place so he could kill someone.
00:48:59
Speaker
I thought that episode was done fantastically. This was her last appearance on the show. um And it was amazing. This whole entire season is probably one of the best seasons ever of television. um And the way it played out, the season five premiere, I thought was great, too. um I can't wait to see where this where this goes. this season five There's a good ah there's a really good guest star in season five. The other the other thing with this is Dexter being Dexter Has no emotion when Rita does so everybody's looking at staring at him I mean if if you know murder cases, especially husband and wife murder cases Yeah, they always look the husband the husbands always looked at so when Dexter shows no emotion. He's obviously Suspect number one. Yeah, I know that's listening like the nine one one call. Yeah um So yeah um
00:49:51
Speaker
that's where the season five go sir season five good when you got season four i started season four now i'm in like season six cause i just have it on the background when i get home from yeah just so i know when you get there so that i can i'm familiar with it because i mean so much stuff happens in all the seasons but ah yeah season five good and you definite need season five um And when you're done with season five, I'll tell tell you where the showrunner originally was going to go with season five, um, completely different than where they go with season five. Cause the other thing, such good ratings. The other thing I wanted to bring up, um, had no idea in real life that Dexter and Deborah were married.
00:50:35
Speaker
Oh yeah, I never did that. yep Never did told me that. um There is a character in this show that shows up in the bear which we're going to be talking awesomely about in about 10 minutes. And I can't wait to watch this. I'm also taking a break on Dexter for a while because I've been having nightmares because I was watching it so much last weekend. And plus, in the whole month of July, I have a lot to watch. I have a lot to watch in July. and Season 5's got some pretty gruesome stuff in it. okay um so But I do like season 5 a lot.
00:51:07
Speaker
I may watch the episode here and there until I get there, but yeah I'm not going to be going. Season 4 I wanted to get through fast because I knew that's where you wanted me to watch. so yeah It was awesome. It played out perfectly. I loved it. I can't wait to finish that seat that series and get into the the reboot that happened last year. That'll be all fresh when the when the prequel comes out next year, so that'll be awesome. yeah um I wasn't sure if we're gonna see quiet place day one came out yesterday. I did prepare myself and watch quiet place part two um Directed by John Krasinski came out in 2020 Covid pushed this. This is the very first movie. I remember that was supposed to come out Right in the middle of Covid. It's supposed to come out like the day everything got or the weekend after everything got shut down Yeah, March 18th was supposed to come out
00:51:53
Speaker
Everything got shut down on the 16th or 15th. Yeah. Yep. So theaters were shut down. So that movie got pushed back I almost a year in like three months The intro to this movie was the invasion it was a very is a very beginning of when the aliens landed on earth I thought that was cool. Have you seen this movie? I I had not, I wasn't a huge fan of the, like I remember liking the first movie, but I didn't love it, so I just, I think COVID happened and I just never had the, I just never felt like going to see this. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But this was, this was a decent movie. Joining the cast was Killian Murphy, and Desmond Huizuzu, whatever, he's in a lot of things, he's in Guardians, he's a whole bunch of stuff. Shazam, Guardians, yeah. Shazam, yep.
00:52:36
Speaker
um Overall, good movie. First one's a little bit better for me. John Krasinski shows up in the in the beginning. Spoiler alert, the first movie he dies. um So he does show up in the intro to this because it's before everything happens in the first movie. I thought this was great depicting the apocalypse. um The little girl in this who's deaf, I think she's pretty good too. Overall, good. It makes me want to watch Quiet Place Day 1. I know it's a totally different story set in New York City. during the invasion as well as a prequel I'm not not including any of the characters from the first movie so um yeah I'm excited to see that probably watch it when it comes out on on digital though um let's get into this now we are now officially less than a month but before Deadpool and Wolverine
00:53:23
Speaker
um Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantum 8 is next on our list. I wanted to get it out of the way because this is one of the worst MCU movies. Rightfully so. A lot of bad storytelling in this. We'll get into some of that in a minute. Came out February 17, 2023. We were right in theaters when this came out. 31st film in the MCU, the beginning of Phase 5. All of the original cast returns most of it with the accession of Cassie Lang, replaced by Catherine Newton. and We had a lot of the a lot of the secondary characters, like the people that were in Scott's group, his his, I can't remember what they were, but all of them, like T.I., Michael Pena, were not part of this, or there's no Luis, which sucked. That's what we want from an Ant-Man movie. He wasn't part of this. um And Jonathan Majors is the multiversal threat king of the Conqueror. now
00:54:17
Speaker
On paper, which I said I was very excited about this, Kang is an awesome character if if done right. The variants were done right. The praise for this movie by critics is is his arc as Kang. Him playing Kang was great. But he was surrounded by a fucking mess of a movie. um There's a retcon in this movie of Modok. Now Modok in the comic books is another character completely. um But he's very like a brainyvert of a brainy person in ah in a floating big huge head. yeah Works in a comic book.
00:54:55
Speaker
Doesn't work in the MCU, but kind of works in the quantum realm, which is why they had it here. It's weird cartoonish. Yeah, he's a ridiculous fucking character. Ridiculous. No stakes, no emotional payoff. At the very end of this movie, Scott and Hope you think are gonna be lost in the quantum realm? And I was hoping that they would when I was watching the movie, so this would be a great ending, and they were actually found, end up coming back into the real world. And there was nothing to this movie, it was just all crap. um and there And there's, the only thing, like I mentioned, was Jonathan Major's, Jonathan Major's role as Kang I thought was great. He's very menacing. ah You kind of had hope in how this character could be played out later on in the phases, and we'll get into that in a minute. Mid-credits scene.
00:55:45
Speaker
You see all of this Council of Kings straight out of the comic books where all of them are plotting on on what to do with the multiverse now. There's incursions happening. ah They had the problem with this one that they they vanished into the quantum realm that ended up ended up, we're not really sure what happened to him at the end. um Say we're not sure we're not really sure where this is gonna play out. We're probably not gonna find out not anytime soon maybe who knows um after credit scene was a With the very first time we see another variant of Kang Victor timely played by Jonathan Majors This is a scene of Loki season 2 and Loki and Morbius sitting in the audience watching a presentation from Victor timely who of the comic books is the creator of the original human torch and named after Marvel's preor predecessor Timely Comics. um That was pretty cool at the time, but we of course we saw it in Season 2 last year.

326 million dollar budget Was ballooned up from the initial $200? $200 million dollars that they that Disney had originally written off so they put a lot of money into this a lot more than they wanted to only made 476 million dollars worldwide 214 million in the North of may America making it one of the few MC movies MC movies that didn't even break even financially for them So was it was a huge loss for her for Disney 46% of Rotten Tomatoes, still 82% audience score. um Critics mostly praising majors, like I said, saying it lost its fun spark from MCU movies for the past. um CGI 2 cartoonish dialogue is weak and weakened the overall story. um The writer of Rick and Morty wrote this movie. Marvel had a lot of faith in him to start the multiverse saga. They actually hired him to do one of the Avengers movies, Kang Dynasty I believe, fired him after this movie failed.
00:57:34
Speaker
um They trusted the whole entire overall story arc of Kane the Conqueror. um And then Jonathan Majors. The guy that wrote for Rick and Morty. For the guy that wrote Rick and Morty. Only only thing he wrote, like four episodes of Rick and Morty. And then Jonathan Majors, right around this time, a criminal charge came up against somebody who's a woman that he was dating who said that he was abusive. And the breaks were pushed on his career at The moment a year later. He was found guilty of this ended up having probation and Disney fired him Firing him from any chance of this character being continued in Disney um'm going forward, especially him if they recast it will see Not sure where this is gonna play out later on. I know there's rumors that season that uh, Avengers 5 will be changed completely rightfully, so um
00:58:30
Speaker
Yeah, I want to wait and see. I want to see Secret Wars more than I want to see Kang and the story play out. So at this point, I think what they did in this and Loki season two kind of to change to change the story, um put it put a pin in it a little bit. um He's not a multiversal threat as much anymore. If you see Loki season two, you realize that. But yeah. Overall, shitting movie. Overall, and that's not even the worst movie in the MCU at that time. I think Eternals is pretty bad. The Marvels, a lot of people have problems with it. I don't mind it. I know you and Chris hated it.
00:59:09
Speaker
Marvel is okay. It's just it's just too I Know I don't like the editing. It just like jumps around too much for me. Yeah But it's like one of those movies were like I didn't see why people enjoy it It's also short so it's not like I'm spending two and a half hours watching it but It's just it just wasn't my thing. I wasn't I'm not a huge fan of Captain Marvel anyways yeah um It's one of those ones I saw it just because I had the regal thing so it's like why not And it's funny, Captain Marvel works better in Avengers movies anyway. She works better in a team. um As far as the Avengers, when she was in and game and she went through the ship, the way she used her powers, I thought was great and how she fought Thanos. Overall, i'm I'm okay with not having another solo movie from her, but we'll get into that later on. And finally this week, we're gonna talk about, do you wanna talk something about anything else before we get into the next topic? No, we'll do the bear then, I'll quickly talk about what I wanna talk about.
01:00:03
Speaker
Okay, let's talk about The Bear. Season 3 debuted yesterday. We watched half of the season. We're going to watch the other half and talk about it next week. um Very first episode, I thought they did a great job flashback flashbacking to Carmen's career, going over and becoming the chef that he is now. And also, there's a little little points of the funeral for his brother. A few little shots here and there of stuff that you know from the series played out visually for for for the very first time. um You see Richie knocking on the door to bear the bear's brother and you know that he's probably dead in that other room. So there's a lot of there's a lot of stuff there, a lot of lot of lot of cool fun scenes, not fun scenes, that's not fun, but a lot of lot of scenes that we we know happened that we actually saw a visual for this time.
01:00:54
Speaker
Yeah, I'm very quick cameo which spoiler for episode six. He's gonna show up again But T stuff from Dexter is Tina's hot as Tina's husband Tina is one of the cooks in the restaurant. They're married in real life That's why he showed up Yep, he has an whole entire episode dedicated to him in episode six. So I can't wait to watch that. Oh, he does Okay, nice. There's there's a there's a Tina. There's a Tina episode directed by what's her name and play Sydney? Um, she's a very first director on debut. She directed that episode in episode six So stay tuned. We'll talk about that next week um episode two with three now the end of season two Carm and Richie have this big huge fight
01:01:36
Speaker
And there's ah an entire like two episode arc, episode two and three of them blowing up at each other. The insults back and forth, I kept laughing the entire time these two episodes. I thought it was fucking fantastic. um this is the bear that This is the bear that I love. I love when they give Ebenmok Bacharach this comedic timing for this. I thought it was fantastic. Do you know, like, is this a written show? Is there improv to this? There seems like there could be a lot of improv. There is. There's definitely improv. And you can tell with pretty much any scene Matty Matheson is in. God, he's fucking amazing. He's one of my favorite celebrity chefs. I love that guy. His YouTube channel is great. But he's literally just like that. His YouTube channel is literally just like that. Like, he just, he's hilarious.
01:02:20
Speaker
His arc in this show, from where he became, what he is now, he's kind of like a major game. He didn't even have a name season. two He didn't have a family, but now he has a family, we'll get into that in a minute. yeah um Episode 4, I've always asked you, where the fuck is Josh Hartnett? He shows up in shit like this every once in a while, sprinkled in. He shows up in Oppenheimer, he shows up in this. He shows up in M and I Shyamalan's movie next month. yeah He showed up as as this, as the the guy who's dating Richie's ex-wife. He's engaged to her. Engaged to her, yeah. um So then we get into episode five. The only thing I want to talk about is the big reveal, the big huge cameo of this season so far of what we've watched.
01:03:02
Speaker
The Fack Brothers, who was Matty Matherson, and I can't remember the guy's name, his brother his brother, and they brought in the third brother in this in this episode, played by John the Fucking Cena. And of course, we always talk about how great John Cena is, communically. His timing's perfect, his timing is amazing. yeah And bringing him in as the third Fack Brother, Sammy, was incredible and then showing him go back back in the kitchen talking to the bear as they're as they're trying to plan out the next meal and talking about how bad things are going in the kitchen and him putting in his two cents in this argument was fantastic. I kind of want to go back and and watch this episode again. yeah
01:03:47
Speaker
But yeah, it's awesome. And then like I said, that's episode five. We're about halfway through this 10 episodes this season. um Episode six, I'm looking forward to because Batista is in it and and him and his wife. And I know there's a story there being told, a prequel story of how she became a chef at the at the beef stand. So. um great season so far and what was the last thing you want to talk about for this is just a precursor to i'm sure some news we're gonna be i'm sure we're gonna be talking about some superman coming up we have a lot of superman yep so for some reason This movie always gets brought up in the lexicon whenever Superman is mentioned or anything on Twitter. A certain group of people bring up Man of Steel, hate it, love it, whatever. And the end of course where he snaps Zod's neck and people are like, couldn't he have just covered his eyes, right? yeah And then they're like, oh, well but that would hurt him. Okay.
01:04:38
Speaker
going to my adventures with Superman, which I think is the most perfect way to encapsulate who Superman is. So, okay, so maybe that the eye thing would have hurt his hand or whatever. And my adventures with Superman, cause I just re-watched the first season this week, cause I'm going to watch the second season now. okay There's a scene where he's he's still figuring out his powers and he doesn't know what he can and can't do. It's very much an origin story. And Lois gets shot at and he jumps in front of the bullet, takes care of business, whatever. Then she goes, Why'd you do that? Did you know you were bulletproof? And he goes, no, but I knew you weren't. To me, that's something that encapsulates the character of Superman more than anything. And it's just something that's been going on on Twitter like the last week ever since the pictures of Corin Sweat came out this week and just something I wanted to bring up. Because my adventures with Superman is fantastic. And you should probably check it out this week when you have time. I miss that. I miss that about the character. I, of course, have seen that multiple times. Low Z Clark, the new adventures of Superman. Yeah, even the original ones from back in the day with Christopher Reese a little bit of that too It just encapsulates the character like yeah, I didn't I didn't know if I was bulletproof I know you weren't like that's what he'll do to he'll give his own life for anyone, you know and So to me it just perfectly encapsulates the character and yes, he should have tried to cover his odds eyes Yeah, yeah, I will I will
01:05:59
Speaker
We'll talk more about that in a little bit, but let's get into the news.
01:06:10
Speaker
And it's not a new summer without the trail around it.
01:06:14
Speaker
Couple of trailers we're gonna talk about. First one is Red One, coming out on Netflix on November 15th. This is a Christmas movie starring J j.K. Simmons, The Rock, and Chris Evans, Captain America. yeah um Trailer looks okay, funny. PG-13, this movie's gonna be. J.K. Simmons got ripped. He got ripped for this movie. there's The very beginning of it shows him bench pressing. So yeah, he's he's he's he's yoked out. Dude's like 60-something. Overall is a story about how Santa goes missing. The Rock has to go fire find him, hire as a private eye who ends up being Chris Evans.
01:06:55
Speaker
And then he finds out that Christmas is real. And the hilarity ensues after that. Looks like it could be an okay movie. All of these guys I like. um The Rock is okay as a wrestler, as an actor. He's okay. As an actor, he's just The Rock and everything. He's just The Rock and everything. yeah But yeah, it does look it does look like this could be a great, I mean, it's free on Netflix. So what are we gonna complain about? So let me begin to watch in November. um Here. movie coming out Directed by Robertson Meckis bringing back Tom Hanks and Robin Wright the very first time since Forrest Gump um coming out November 15th as well They released a trailer for it. This movie is weird because the thing about this movie is Set in this one spot from the very beginning of time You see the dinosaurs in the beginning of it and you see this whole entire life portrayed through time
01:07:45
Speaker
Fast forward fast forward fast forward and then you see tom hanks meeting his girlfriend who ends up being robin wright They get married. They have a family There's hints in room and there's hints that some one of them is going to die So you see a death happen in there like a funeral or something happening in the living room All happening in this one continuous shot of the single single set piece throughout the whole entire two movie is going to happen um, very interesting way of doing it It's the 30 year anniversary of Forrest Gump 2, which Zemeckis obviously directed with Tom Hanks. And I guess Tom Hanks hates like being asked questions about movies that came out like 30 years ago, like anniversary type stuff. So he should really hate doing the media tour for this movie. yeah I can't wait for it. I mean, Robert Zemeckis has never missed. love but Even his like quote unquote bad movies are still good movies.
01:08:34
Speaker
yeah We love Robert Zemeckis, so we'll be there to see this. And we love Tom Hanks, yeah American treasure. And I want to talk about this trailer because it is fucking fantastic. Batman and Caped Crusader coming out just next month, a month away, August 1st on an Amazon Prime. This is a continuation kind of retelling of Batman through a noir setting. If you actually go back and you watch the animated series from the 90s very new are very a lot of it's very new are But it was kind of kind of brought in a lot of the aspects from what was happening on the movie screens with Tim Burton Batman and including the theme song and then you had this this Aesthetic that was very noir
01:09:16
Speaker
This took the noir up to a whole other level where this actually feels like 1920s, like Batman. And there's some of the scenes in this look fan-fucking-tastic. The animation looks great. The character designs look great. I gotta get used to his Batman voice. That's the only one. The Batman voice. I'm terribly fine once I see it. Yeah. Yeah, Kevin Conroy being gone now. Yeah, it's weird. But this guy's voice is very noir-ish too, so it might fit what he's going for. Yeah, if anything, this is what you would probably expect from a Spider-Man noir 2, same type of story. Mark Bernard wrote an episode of this too, I believe. And Matt Reeves was a producer on this, and so was Tim, what's his name? Bruce Timm, who did the original anime series. That's why the aesthetic looks similar, but very different.
01:10:07
Speaker
It looks great. The trailer is amazing. A lot of characters, and including Adam Montepilla, who was a character written in the Green Arrow green arrow comics that Kevin Smith did. It's not like one of his best villains. so yeah the way they're best real the way they did Harley Quinn in this very Harley Quinn like actual Harley Quinn esque 1920s noir it just looks amazing looks incredible if you haven't seen the trailer for this it's online it's called Batman Cape Crusader comes out August 1st on Prime so I can't wait for that um let's get into the news inside out to
01:10:42
Speaker
Hester Brass Dune part two to become the biggest domestic release of 2024 so far It made an extra it made another hundred million dollars last weekend um Bad Boys made 18 million still doing pretty good and bike riders made 10 million last week. certainly It's a really good movie, too I did too and I have not watched the first one. I started watching it and then everything happened personally for me so didn't get into it so that's on that's on my radar to watch that movie. That's going to be watched soon and then I'll watch the second one when it comes out. um Rest in peace to Shifty Shellshock.
01:11:15
Speaker
um Front man for the band crazy town we played at the beginning of the show butterfly Which I know you love that song back in the day. Yeah, we were in high school. He's 49 years old had a history of drug Drug abuse was announced yesterday by his manager that he did succumb to drug drug overdose He had some straight drugs in him and he had some and he had some other stuff in him, too so rest Yeah, Dan fentanyl rest in peace to him 49 years old way too young only had that one song but he was he was a decent rapper and It was at the time of Le Biscuit, so you had a lot of white rappers, you had a lot of rock rap. um Interesting part, interesting to note that song. um Butterfly, the the instrumental to that song was an unused Red Hot Chili Peppers instrumental.
01:11:59
Speaker
They put a drum track to it, turned it into Butterfly, what we know of it is today, put a lot of hip-hop influence to it and beats and stuff. Rest in peace to him. Rest in peace to Bill Cobbs. You don't know the name, but you have seen his face in a lot of movies. He's in The Shining, right? He's in The New Shining, I believe. The New Shining, yes. Not The New Shining, the one with, what's his name? Ewan McGregor. um
01:12:30
Speaker
Okay. Yeah, but he was in The Night in the Museum. That's where I know him from. He was in those movies. He's in the original Shining, too. Okay. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. I couldn't remember. And then he's in Wonder Woman, too. Yeah. Yeah. But he was in movies like Air Bud, The Bodyguard. He's a whole bunch of stuff. If you if you've seen his face, you've known him as one of those character actors. Rest in peace to him. um Speaking of john Jonathan Majors earlier, um he has been cast in the very first um Supernatural movie Since his whole entire stuff happened when he was canceled from Hollywood Big big budget big budget movie called mercy lists directed by Martin Vinny villain and villain uv who?
01:13:13
Speaker
vinis ah Denny's brother younger brother and he's gonna be directing that movie ah follows the CIA interrogator ah who After a woman he he loves is overtaken by him level and force is forced to go even darker to defeat it So some size some sort of a sci-fi thriller type movie. So yeah, we'll have to wait and see um Jonathan Major's great actor Horrible person. Well, not we're not really sure that the the Jury is out on that. There's a lot of gray area we're dealing with. A lot of gray area.

Potential Actor Resurgence

01:13:45
Speaker
But just watching him in quantum media to make me realize and remind me like, yeah, he's a great actor. Great choice, great choice. I hope they release that magazine dreams movie that's apparently like incredible. Yeah, I'm sure that will. I'm sure it will. He's gonna have a research and all this stuff will go away eventually. It always happens to big business. He's basically put on probation.

Media Archive Changes and Spin-offs

01:14:06
Speaker
um um I remember if you remember I talked to you about the Daily Show probably six months ago and I said oh the Comedy Central website has all the old clips of the Daily Show. um You can go through there and you can find the archives of all the stuff we used to love as as we were in high school. Well Paramount for some reason not only decided to get rid of all the MTV News archive got rid of all the MTV News website every news article that was written in the early 2000s that was big big news articles um They got rid of all of that, shuttered it, said it was financial woes from the company that made them do that. They also got rid of all of that video content that was on MTV, was on Comedy Central, I think TV Land. A lot of it had their own like archive of video clips and other content.
01:14:50
Speaker
Completely removed for some reason they got it out of there. I think they want people to go to Paramount Plus That's the whole reason they're trying to push people to that to see the content the visual content rather than on the internet so It sucks because there's not a lot of places where you can see old clips from the Daily Show um And a lot of people nowadays are not going to see Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert, Stephen versus Stephen. They're not going to see yeah the Star Wars stuff that happened on the night that episode 2 debuted. like You're not going to see a lot of that cool stuff that we remember from the Daily Show, the awesome the awesome video stuff. I'm sure some of it's on YouTube.
01:15:27
Speaker
Some of it is but they had a big big vast archive of stuff, which was really cool. which we're We're not gonna see again I wish it would come out like of the DVD or or some sort of a Some sort of a movie version of all of that stuff like a like an archive would be pretty cool I don't think they ever will it's all streaming now, but So me with the 8 as an A. It's going to be an erotic thriller, a spin-off of Meghan. It's coming out from Bloomhouse. It focuses on a man who tries to cope with the loss of his wife using an AI android. It sounds a lot like that movie with Walking in Phoenix. Is it her? With Scarlett Johansson that did the voice of the AI. Yeah, wasn't that nominated for an award?
01:16:07
Speaker
It was, yeah. But this is gonna be a spin-off of Meghan, the doll movie that came out last year, the dancing doll, psychotic, chucky-like, murderous, rampage doll, um AI thing. But this is gonna be a spin-off of that called Soulmate, we're coming out in 2026 from Blumhouse, so we'll keep an eye on that. Channing Tatum, doing a lot of interviews right now. um Talking about 23 Jump Street, the third movie that never happened, Which was rumored to be the movie that was going to bring the Men men in Black into the 23 Jump Street universe. And he can't he he he keeps continuing saying that this movie is the best script that he's ever read. um And that Jonah Hill is still on board for it as well. And a lot of people love this script, a lot of people want to see it happen, but for some reason...
01:16:55
Speaker
I don't know if it's rights issues with the Men in Black. I don't know what that is. That's ah technically a Marvel comic. I'm not sure the real history of that Men in Black. I know it was a Marvel comic in the early 90s. But it was a Fox movie. Right. So yeah, maybe the rights are all fucked up with that. But if if Will Smith doesn't jump in on something like this, even Tommy Lee Jones still has the ability to act. I would love to see them come back. um I don't know if it would ever happen, but those two with Channing and Jonah Hill, it would be an amazing send-off to the franchise. movie Although it's almost 10 years after the last one, so maybe it's a little bit too late. But I would love to see the Men in Black, if they wanted to reboot it, do something like this. It would be a great, like, meets universe incursion. It could happen to be awesome.

Upcoming Sequels and Series Announcements

01:17:41
Speaker
Um, Andor season two will feature more characters from Rogue One. Um, one of those characters could be Ben Mendelsohn. Um, who was in menacing, uh, who was in menacing, um, Empire, I guess, uh, uh, bridge, bridge captain or something. I don't know what the fuck he was. But he was great in, in Rogue One. Um, season one of Andor, pretty good. Uh, looking forward to season two. A lot of characters that could be coming back for that. I think Saw Gerrera, who was played by Forest Whitaker, would probably be the number one choice for me. um I would hope so. I can't remember that guy's name, the the the Asian yeah man who plays the blind. That's my issue with Rogue One, I don't know anyone's names except for Andor and Jhin. I know Saw Gerrera, that's the only other one. And Saw, but I knew that from the start.
01:18:29
Speaker
from the Clone Wars but yeah and and the only one the only reason we know Andor is because Andor is the name of the series but um and and we knew when Rogue One was being made that he was getting his own series it was going to be a movie I think at first and then they turn into a series yeah before Disney Plus yeah If it's season two, I'm going to be filming soon, I believe, or it is already filmed. I can't remember the the history of that, but we'll be seeing that sooner rather than later. Um, announced officially for next year, 2025, looking like a huge year. Uh, Bob Ogan Odenkirk returning for nobody to nobody won great movie coming on August 15th, 2025. Can't wait for that. Um, one of those John Wick type movies where he has a revenge, a revenge plot to get back at people that do them wrong. Based on an event that happened to Bob Odenkirk.
01:19:16
Speaker
Yeah, it is. ye Um, Umbrella Academy comes out in a little over a month, Season 4, the last season on Netflix. I'll release some character posters for the whole entire cast of that series. I love Umbrella Academy, can't wait for that to come out on Netflix. Ice Cube is still talking about Friday 4. um Hopefully bringing back Chris Tucker and he says there's more there's more to it and that ah that it's going further along in the tracks and the story's being written as they speak and it's currently in the works. so Sucks that his father died, right? Yeah, he was the best part of that yeah he's best part of that series. He's gone. Scarlett Johansson saying that she's very excited about Jurassic World, the next the next movie in this franchise, saying the script is incredible.
01:20:00
Speaker
um I Take her word I I kind of trust her who want to wait and see what what she's supposed to say if somebody says How do you write about the next Jurassic World movie right sucks? Yeah, like that's the other side of the coin. Yep. Yeah, so I don't see on that because we've been we just disappointed in Jurassic Park before so Mm-hmm. What do we see? Um last one was Lotus Park So next week is Axel F It's gonna be on Netflix. This is the return of Axel Foley, Beverly Hills Cop, Eddie Murphy doing a lot of interviews right now, and somebody asked him about Shrek 5. Is it in production? he He did say he's been doing voices for it. He sort started recording for it. um He thinks it's coming out in 2025. I don't think anybody's heard about this. It'd probably be within 2025, 2026, period. I'd say 2026, yeah. um Also said that there's a Donkey Spin-Off movie in the works. You haven't seen any of the Shrek's movies, or you've seen the first one?
01:20:56
Speaker
These are movies we're going to be doing when Shrek 5 is officially announced and we know when the date is coming. Amazing. Because Shrek 1 is a great movie. John Lithgow does the villain of that. That's all I've heard about it. It's fucking fantastic. I've heard a lot of great things about it. Shrek 1 and 2, right? The first two are really good? Or is the first three are all really good? They're all pretty damn good. Okay. Yep, we'll continue that later on. We see the ring race a borrow race of lord of the rings power ring of power come out in about two months.
01:21:27
Speaker
um Empire had an exclusive cover for their magazine with showing them. um I don't know if there's a difference between these race or the ones that are in Lord of the Rings, Fellowship of the Rings, where the kings had had were turned by the ring, and ended up becoming these ghostly figures that were cloaked in like black cloaks. When Frodo puts the ring on, he sees their their skeletal face. um I'm not sure if that's I'm not sure if those are the same ones or they're different But they're gonna be shown in season two of rings of power that's coming out in two months. So ah very cool-looking They kind of look like they could be kings because they are wearing like crowns and garb. They would be royal So yeah, what do we see on that? Um, I Speaking of deny Denny, Denny, a movie today was announced December 18th, 2026, a mystery project described as an event film. Yeah, I'm not sure. It's going to be doing three. Are you sure? Because they're not sure if Dune if Dune Messiah is going to be the next one or not. That's the kind of where speculation. I know that he already wrote Dune Messiah. OK, so maybe i'm just then he he had the script for Dune Messiah done when Dune 2 is in post-production.
01:22:40
Speaker
Okay, so yeah, according to the composer about two and a half years. Yeah, they have enough time to put this out this December 18th Okay, that'd be kind of cool. Um, yeah, so yeah, I'll have to wait and see um Yeah, it'd be great to see the final continuation. I'm just assuming that's what it is Who knows he might have another movie ready to go to but I would think you would want to do dude if it's described as an event film and it's by Warner Brothers So it just makes sense there would be doing Messiah um i Put this in here for you because I know you're you're a fan of Cobra Kai season six the final season Part one coming out July 18th. Just about three weeks um released a new poster for the for the new season um um Street Fighter speaking of fighting Street Fighter the movie coming out March 20th 2026 domestically coming out from Sony this must be because of how great the mortal combat movie did and Bringing back 90s nostalgia in movie form Street Fighter of course had the notorious movie from the 90s starring Jean-Claude What's his name? Raul Julia? um There's ah his last movie unfortunately last movie. Yep um So yeah, we'll have to wait and see on that speaking of in and speaking of that terminator zero um reveal some of their voice casts and most notable being Rosario Dawson joining this as an AI voice and This is an animated an anime version coming out on Netflix and then sometime in August, a continuation of the Terminator story. um So yeah, we'll talk about that when it comes out. um Speaking of Dexter earlier, Cher Michelle Geller has joined the cast of the prequel series as Dexter's boss.
01:24:15
Speaker
A new boss at the Miami miami Metro Police Department. ye so well so She hasn't been in much since Buffy. so now um She's been raising a family. so yeah ah Star Wars Bounty Hunter. Great game on the Gamecube. back in the day I'm coming out digitally and I think maybe on disk as well on a on a current gen console switch PS5 Xbox I'm and yeah it's gonna upgrade the graphics I'm gonna look pretty cool it's gonna be some some extras are adding in that to it to that as well I'm HBO announced a few things this week the it prequel series Harry Potter TV tv series
01:25:00
Speaker
And Lanterns, the next TV series from from the DCU, from James Gunn, are all going to be coming out not only on Max, which was originally announced, but they're going to also be airing on HBO. um And lanterns getting into the DC News of the week lanterns um Now we've talked about this before um they had a tagline a log line come out this week the series follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern Hal Jordan two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in an American in the American Heartland Which makes me think that maybe Guy Gardner dies in Superman Interesting just murdered, but that's just a thought after reading that logline. Okay, that's very cool. I like that a But yeah, this will also be one of the series it's not only gonna be on max But it's gonna be debuting on pride time on HBO. So that's very cool. Um Speaking of Superman now a lot of Superman stuff came out We have a lot of pictures. We're gonna talk so i can talk about stuff that you can't see on the podcast
01:26:36
Speaker
But we're going to be talking very excitedly about it. You can Google it if you want. um The end of last week, right about right about the weekend, we started seeing fit photos of Superman on newspapers of the Daily Planet newspaper. He was stopping a train, looked like he was standing with the iconic Superman pose in one of them. So this is the very first time we've seen other than that promo shot that we saw of Corn Sweat playing Superman. This is the very first time we kind of see fuzzy photos of Corn Sweat.
01:27:08

Until Monday, when we knew this was going to happen, they started they started filming in Cleveland, and they started, I'll help, Brooklyn, you're right, because there's telephoto lenses showing Superman yeah in full costume. out Dude, ah real quick, I was at work, and one of the guys that's in my tour group, we exchanged numbers at one point. he He fucking called me when I was at work to tell me the news that that shit's on the internet. But yeah, but this shit was yeah, it was huge. It was huge for a geek very first thing we see is course what going going to set with a With a robe the very first thing we see and then we all of a sudden the Avalanche of pictures came out. Yeah, we see mr. Terrific
01:27:56
Speaker
I can't remember his name. I can't pronounce his name. He's in Twilight movies. He's in another thing too. He's in X-Men first class I think. We see him and Superman walking together. We see in full costume. We see Lois Lane. We see Clark and Lois with army men surrounding them. Or Superman and Lois. We see Perry White played by the guy who was in The Wire. They're all coming out of a spaceship, too. Perry White, Lois Lane. We also see the kid who was in Psych um who's playing Jimmy Olsen coming out of this spaceship. Sean's come a long way. We see the guy in Utah. I think it's Mr. Terrific's ship, is my guess. That's what they're saying, yeah. Yeah, that T-ship, yeah.
01:28:39
Speaker
We see we see a few people from the Daily Planet and we see the sports reporter. We see who see Kat Grant um We see more pictures of Superman. We see more pictures of him and mr. Terrific We also see we saw this whole video to Superman in handcuffs with Frank Grillo as Rick Flagg senior and the engineer the very first time we see the engineer the villain of this movie and All with Superman and handcuffs taking him into custody um We also see We also see Ultraman and we also see Lex Luthor We see what's his name as Lex Luthor with the bald cap Nicholas Holt. um He's had scars all over his bald head We we we haven't seen other than that. 01:29:25

Clark Kent with his MJF-like haircut as- Now, how do you feel about this look? I told you how I felt. He looks like MJF. He's got the same puff in the product that MJF does. No, but as being Clark. As Clark? I think it looks decent. I think he looks great. I fucking love it, because like, I don't know if you saw my Facebook post, but I put the two side by side, and they don't even look like the same actor. playing Clark Kent in Superman. Like he does something with his face when he's Clark to where he doesn't, he looks a little bit chubbier. yeah um And of course I sent you the video of him like running through the streets as Clark and it's just so Clark Kent. Like as soon as all this stuff came out, I wanted to watch Superman 78 so bad again. um yeah i think you I think it was a good choice. Cause like the whole time I'm like, everyone has smartphones now. Like you would be able to, one person that knew Clark would be able to figure it out um yeah unless they did something like this.
01:30:22
Speaker
yeah um So I love the two dynamics between Clark and Superman. like He doesn't have the diples as Clark Kent. He looks like a completely different person. I think he looks great. I think he looks great at Superman. I think it looks great as Clark. I think that i think we're going to be getting something ah pretty spectacular here. Yes, very special. So, we'll talk about that later. Getting into the Marvel News of the Week. Benedict Cumberbatch, kind of let slip that Avengers 5 is in his future. Looking forward to it next year is what he's saying.
01:30:56
Speaker
um like Today was an exclusive first look of Agatha All Along came out with ah Catherine Hawn. I don't know, this was sort of a clip of her going into a bla basement of something and she's with a witch's coven, who knows. um I'm kind of excited about this, I know you don't care about it as much as I do. um This week, Marvel started their podcast. I listened to it very first episode. Kevin Feige was the first guest. um Officially, officially made the announcement that the movie, and The Fantastic Four, is going to be set in the 1960s period. Teased that it's going to be an alternate universe, though. So it's not going to be an actual 1960s New York. Because if you saw the art from that from the posters that came out around that time, the art was very much like a different version, almost like ah like a a Jetsons version of of a cityscape.
01:31:44
Speaker
um So we're going to get a different alternate universe of New York City, which will be kind of cool, but which has been rumored for a very, very long time. I thought it was a great idea in the beginning. It'll be a fun playground for a Marvel movie to play in. One of the very first times we're going to actually see another universe, which will be kind of cool. um are He also officially made not acknowledgement of wonder man was never an official mood official TV show um It was never announced at comic-con or d23 last year, but he didn't said that he's extreme He's a he's excited about it. um It's gonna be extremely different quote-unquote um So yeah, I'm excited for that. I like the actor who's playing wonder man.

um sony The rumor this week is started Sony started casting for live-action Miles Morales. ah Either going to be in their own universe or in the MCU universe. Just what they should have done instead of fucking Madame Web. Right. It should have happened. yeah We're not going to get into the Sony mess of Hollywood. but um Also rumored that Namor could have a solo project. um but I don't know if to know will be part of that because he did get cancelled kind of like around the same time as Jonathan. I forgot about that. He threw acid in some chick's face or something. or no i't like that chick had yeah some he did so Something happened. yeah She had acid thrown in her face and then he sexually assaulted her.
01:33:05
Speaker
didn We have some spoilers for Deadpool and Wolverine. um There is a picture that came out a couple days ago of an Avengers flag flying in the air with an anarchy sign over it. The rumors are swirling right now that Deadpool and Wolverine are going to show them going together to come up with their own multiversal Avengers team. um And a part of that Avengers team, rumors being that we've already knew for a while now that Jennifer Garner is coming back as a Electro.

And they're all going to be part of this multiversal Avengers team that Deadpool is going to be coming together for to try to defeat Cassandra Nova at the end. I think this is very, very cool. I hope this doesn't spoil the movie for this information to come out. But it's all kind of stuff that we knew. we've These are all rumors that we've heard over the years, or over the couple of years of this movie being in production of who's going to be cameoing in this. And I think there's going to be a lot of other surprises that we're we're not prepared for for that movie too.
01:34:23
Speaker
