Rapping Styles and Music Platforms

00:00:02
Speaker
tell me ah where yeah hey this a bit Bitch, may I fight for my honor, your honor? Yes, I know you're discriminating against me because then my complexion is darker I just aggressively push about a Is there any other slump god have the weirdest flow you've ever heard any rapper ever have pitch yeah yeah's weird so i did bit He's got a couple songs tripping that are really good
00:00:41
Speaker
Yeah, it came on, I was listening to Lil Dicky the other night and it came on just randomly after I was listening to a song.

Music Playlist Dynamics

00:00:48
Speaker
Cause you know how you listen to Apple Music? It just random shit just comes on. After the playlist is done, that's basically what happened. I was like, I've never heard this song. Yeah, I've never heard it. Ski Mask is weird.

Show Soundtrack Preferences

00:01:00
Speaker
It's hard to get a Juice WRLD song in the beginning. I like to have like an upbeat song in the beginning of the show. It's hard to beat. It's so slow. Misery. misery yeah They're all about being depressed.

Eminem's Freestyle Skills

00:01:13
Speaker
yeahf four plus fourmo what you put them in the chokehold you will pen such good Such a great flow, though. He does. like When he actually raps, it's pretty fucking good. Like the one you always talk about with him and Eminem, the Eminem one he does, for it was that an hour long? and then Yeah, an hour long freestyle? Yeah, oh my god. He goes off for like an hour. It's insane. I'm like, dude. so He like remakes songs off the top of his head over Eminem beats. It's fucking insane. Fucking insane.
00:01:43
Speaker
Gone way too soon.

Documentary Recommendations

00:01:44
Speaker
I gotta watch that documentary that's on Max. He always talks about it three times. Oh, it's really good. I've seen it two or three times. It's good. Yeah. It's really good.

Fast Food News Segment Delay

00:01:52
Speaker
Uh, I'm gonna start the show off this week with a fat fuck.
00:02:14
Speaker
It's been a while. Been a while? Been a while in this set, Dean. I've been holding off on it because there's not a lot of food news, number one, and number two. Right. I mean, we don't eat fast food that much. I mean, I don't anymore. I know you don't. Yeah, I try not to. Yeah. But when something happens, something comes up, and you're going to talk

Outdoor Cooking and Grills

00:02:31
Speaker
about it. This week, 4th of July, big food holiday. um Good in the summertime because the one thing you have is the grill. I've had multiple grills, I've had the charcoal, I've had the gas, decided to go electric this time. Got a ninja wood fire outdoor connect grill, connects to your phone. um It does grilling, smoking, it has an air fryer.
00:02:59
Speaker
ah You can roast, you can bake, you can dehydrate, so you can do jerky, which I'd love to try. um I decided, one of the first things I did, I've done hamburgers on it a couple weeks ago, but for 4th of July this year, I wanted to do ribs. The thing that's different about these, it's almost like, I mentioned to you, it's kind of like, the it's very easy to clean, kind of like a George Foreman grill used to be back in the day. um You can take this whole grate out this grill grate out clean it in your sink um It has a tray on the bottom that holds all the grease big huge grease trap bigger than most grills um The grill I think is about 16 17 inches wide So it's pretty good size area um I took a full baby back rib cut it in half put them side by side Still had room on the left and the right for both of them on the side um The process that I did on this um it does use the air fryer
00:03:53
Speaker
fan so you do get a crisper you do you get things cooked very quickly so where a four hour rib on the grill that usually pulls ah pulls apart or a smoker i got it done in two hours on this thing it's amazing uh the thing that makes this different than most is there's a little thing on the side that come that you that's a little thing that that has this wood fire you can put pellets in there and it ignites them gives it that smoky flavor. ah The pellets only stay lit for about 45 minutes. However, you do get just enough smoke flavor, just like enough smoke. You don't get the smoke ring around the meat. Because sometimes you can get too much smoke, which would be a bad thing. This is just enough. um So what I did, I found a recipe. This guy online had one of these same same grills, figured out a way to cook ribs on it. I took the ribs. I smoked them for an hour.
00:04:47
Speaker
ah Took them off the grill. I also had a rub on there. ah For a binder for the rub I put a two part honey, one part honey Dijon. Put that on there, put the rub on top of that. ah Grilled I smoked that for an hour after that was done. I put barbecue sauce honey and butter in a tin foil big huge piece of tin foil wrapped up each half of the rib and And baked it on the grill for another hour Took them out of there and then for I think I think ten minutes I took them out of the tin foil at the end and just got the flavors all melted up in them in the oven and got it all crisped up and put a little bit extra sauce on there to get them get it a little better very good came out amazing uh tender bone style right off i was i was um i was shocked i thought i was going to get more like a pork chop um where the bone wouldn't come off came right off um very good and i was surprised i haven't made a really good rib like that in a while especially in a grill this grill you have to really be careful with it
00:05:49
Speaker
um But yeah, very good. Ninja Woodfire. there i have i i've had gas I've had bad luck with gas grills. Charcoal always used to give me heartburn, which is weird. I always always had a problem with it. I don't know if it was the the the igniter the thenier stuff they put in the charcoal. I don't know what it is. Always used to give me really bad heartburn. Um, but this, this is great. It's an electric grill, so it plugs right in. Um, like I told you, I have to be careful because, um, I don't have a lot of outlets in the house and I have air conditioners on right now. So I have to, I have to turn the air conditioner off so I don't trip the trip the outlet. But, um, other than that, it works really good and I recommend it highly. Um, if you don't want to do fuck with the gas, you don't want to fuck with charcoal anymore. Um, electric grill is the way to go. Um, really good.
00:06:43
Speaker
um I know you were working, you probably didn't have any ah any grill grilling this week or yesterday. Nope, I did not. Yeah, but yeah it's it's a good time of the year to do it. on It's nice outside. I used to love back in the day to do s'mores out there. You get everything out on the grill. This time of year it's great to do burgers and hot dogs, whenever you wanna just put something on there and cook it up.

Collectibles and Comic Books

00:07:03
Speaker
um threat We're gonna talk about now is the beginning of the month, we have show and tell.
00:07:13
Speaker
So many geeky things that we could pull off from the show. We've been collecting shit for years and now we're whipping it out. So it's time to showcase all the money that we've wasted well. To the beat city old folks, this geek's work show went down. I'll let you go first this week. OK, I went to the shop last week and got finally got but copy a copy of Batman Nightfall, oh which collects a shit ton of Batman comics. Yeah, so i' see the front see let's see the front cover, though. It's for the one where Bane breaks Batman back in. yeah
00:08:00
Speaker
Um, so it just collects all the stories within that arc. Um, and it's volume one nightfall. Um, I'll be picking up the other volume soon. There's only $30 for a thousand page book. Most books is bigger, 70 or 80. Um, especially if you get into the omnibuses and stuff, but, uh, yeah, not bad at all. Awesome. Oh, mine this week is going to be familiar. Can you just hand it to me an hour ago? Supergirl woman of to tomorrow. ah You said you're getting a, you must be getting the ultimatet ultimate version, ultimate edition. That was coming. The deluxe comes out at the end of the month. Yep. So you're getting that. So you gave me your old a supergirl woman tomorrow, which is the comic book. This is going to be based off of James Gunn's a new retelling of supergirl coming in the DCU soon with a Millie Alcott. Um, yep.
00:08:49
Speaker
We had mentioned off the pod maybe on the pod a couple times that we're going to be doing comic book reviews on here graphic novels stuff like this as a has a collection of issues miniseries I'm going to start this month and I am going to read Supergirl woman of tomorrow um Yeah, I'm gonna read it and then next month we'll do the marbles marbles, which is a great comic book from the 90s done done by Alex Ross, so we're gonna talk about this gonna be the first two that we're gonna talk about first though cool the art the art in marbles is some of my favorite art of all time and it's like a best of it's like a best of Marvel and The very first issue of that talks about the human torch, which is the very first human torch. Second issue talks about Galactus invading. Third issue is Gwen Stacy being killed by the Green Goblin. And it's all about this reporter that kind of sees stuff from the street level.
00:09:47
Speaker
um And watching all this stuff happen and in a realistic like art because that's what our trust does um We'll talk all about that

4th of July Traditions

00:09:54
Speaker
next month. But this month I will be reading supergirl woman of tomorrow. So stay tuned in a couple weeks um What we watched this week we are in 4th of July I'm not sure if you got to it, but you usually watch Jaws around this time. I do. I watched a little bit of it last night also bit all of it because I watched horror movies, that which I'll talk about in a bit. But um yeah, this is like the first time in 10 years where I didn't finish it. I watched up until pretty much up until the third act that I watched this year um before I fell asleep because I was fucking exhausted.
00:10:26
Speaker
Okay, well I watched Hamilton. That's my new that's my new yearly tradition, of course. It's my obsession now as an adult. so um Yeah, I watched it last night. It's a great 4th of July. If you want to learn about history in a weird hip-hop musical type of way, go ahead. Okay. It's on Disney Plus. For some reason, never released on digital or DVD? Blu-ray, I don't know why. but They must have been dealing with

TV Show Reviews and Nostalgia

00:10:52
Speaker
Disney for a few years. Yeah, probably. Um, but yeah, I love that. I love it. So I watched it again, but trying to keep it to one time a year. So that's my one time a year. Um, I still will listen to the soundtrack probably, but, um, you've been busy, but we're going to talk about a few things. Um, the bear season three, episode six through 10, the last part of the series. Um, and you haven't watched six through 10. I don't want to give you too much information. Six is probably top three episode of the whole entire series because there's a lot of cool shit.
00:11:24
Speaker
A lot of cool flashback stuff. um It's basically all a big flashback of how Tina it your job loses her job but before she works at the beef stand. but um I do want you to keep an eye out on episode 7 for this picture of the shirt. Matter of fact, supplies Chicago lamb. It is going to be the next shirt that you're going to want. Um, is the fact, the fact brothers company shirt that, that oh like I caught it and everybody on the internet caught it. In fact, Jake crew sold this shirt for three or $400 sold out immediately.
00:12:02
Speaker
Is this one, and there's a couple other ones. I think there's some hats still available. Man, Matter of fact, supply. The Fact Brothers wear that. I saw it as like, yeah, that's, Kevin needs that shirt. But yeah, they have hats. A few other ones. There's a great episode 10 in this finale. Cliffhanger not gonna say too much about it skip through all that don't read the notes I put there. Yeah. Yeah but Yeah, the other show that I watched I know you're probably not more as excited about it as I was kind of half-ass excited about it Was that 90 show to a this is first part of season 2?
00:12:38
Speaker
Second part coming out in October, I believe. But the first part, okay um problems we have with this show are it's not night that's not that show. Pretty much that's a big problem. Tries to be. Also the nostalgia seems forced, which is kind of like that in that 70's show too. But in this one, there's weird... song montages that happen throughout every episode. Guest stars randomly appear like there's one episode where Carmen Electra just shows up and starts dancing around red because they talk about Carmen Electra. Just weird shit like that happens. um Guest stars so far, like I mentioned, Carmen Electra, um Seth Green returns. He was in the original 70s show. He's like a nemesis to Eric and eric Foreman. yeah um Will Forte shows up as like a guru.
00:13:22
Speaker
um Matt Wright the comedian and Kevin Smith and Jamie is which has been in the trailers and everything they do show up at the final episode of this 8 episode run that they put out on Netflix, but um Don't want to talk about who they are, but it's pretty funny um But yeah, okay, it's okay The characters you can tell they're kind of trying to act more like the Kelso kid is acting more like Kelso in this season yeah You'll get that if you watched it.

Star Wars Lore and Discussions

00:13:48
Speaker
He's kind of get the Kelso mannerisms down um Kind of had the first one first one too, but I think it's more so in this way kind of act like a goof and a dumbass in this but um overall okay, if it's on Netflix and if you have Netflix go ahead watch it 20-minute episodes very quick and easy to get through so um the acolyte episode 6 you did watch this right and
00:14:11
Speaker
I did not, but I've heard all the spoilers. Okay. You've heard the spoilers. Let's get into it because there's a discussion that we have to have. We'll talk about it more when you watch the episode, but, um, this episode, we're off last week. We were on such a high with that episode of the lightsaber battle. Very big dip going down. However, there are some new little things that showed up in this episode that we need to talk about. Um,
00:14:37
Speaker
Cortosis, the history of this and the legends were that Darth Tenebrous and Darth Plagueis. So we talk about Darth Plagueis all the time. Darth Tenebrous was his master. They were kind of the two Siths at the time. And they went to an Outer Rim ocean planet with abundant islands, which you actually see in this. This is where the Sith took this twin and has her on this island, on this ocean island. Reminiscent of the Last Jedi where Luke Skywalker was, not the same island. Yeah, um that's where that or of cortosis is held So so far we have the legend that legend Star Wars legend brought back into canon now um Which makes me think that yes because Darth Plagueis and Darth Tenevrest who
00:15:28
Speaker
Dark Plagueis ends up killing on this planet, on this on this weird island-like planet. I'm guessing we're going to get that connection that we've been talking about forever. like This is going to be where we end up seeing the the introduction of Dark Plagueis. um And they also see this big huge scar on his back. um He was stabbed in the back. However, we also see it's kind of shaped like a like a curve. It's curved in a whole bunch of almost like a lightning strike. Lightsabers don't do that. However, we also witnessed something this week of a brand new type of lightsaber brought in from the legends.
00:16:09
Speaker
um if They actually may have been in the comic books recently of this whip. It was a lightsaber turned into a whip, um which makes everyone speculate that that scar on his back is not from a lightsaber being stabbed in the back, but maybe that this woman woman Jedi master is the one who is the Dark Lord of the Sith that's hiding. who has been it's been a speculation for a while. um This kind of just ignites the flames a little bit more on that with that with that scar on his back looking more reminiscent of a whip scar rather than a lightsaber scar. um We are on episode six of this, so we have two more episodes left of the acolyte. um Overall, like you've mentioned, characters we don't really care about in this show. Yeah, the story itself has been pretty bad.
00:16:57
Speaker
There are some great moments, but that's usually how Star Wars is. There's great Star Wars moments. That's how Disney Star Wars is. That's how Disney Star Wars has always been. You see these great

The Boys Series Analysis

00:17:06
Speaker
moments you always want to see with lightsaber battles and and different things use the use of the force pretty much. And um they're doing a great job with that. Just nobody cares. they like We don't care about these twins. The only twins we care about is Luke and Leia. Right, but they're they're trying I guess I don't know and if it's if it is a Prequel to show how Darth Plagueis comes to be which seems to be what the case is I'm interested to see how this plays out um And and how this whole this whole thing ends, but we'll see um The boys episode six. I know you did watch this. We're gonna talk about this
00:17:40
Speaker
In the very beginning of the episode, we meet Webweaver, who is the boy's universe version of Spider-Man. He's a drugged-out drug addict who is strung out, who they end up hiring to get Huey to borrow his suit to get into this party that Tech Knight is throwing. And that's where pretty much the whole episode takes place. All the Supes are there, Homelander, the whole entire, so almost the whole entire seven. I think Black Noir and the Deep are left back at the tower, but everybody else is there.
00:18:17
Speaker
Tech night's party though this was This was the most one of the most fucked up scenes of the whole entire show Now first of all tech night is kind of like the Batman version on this universe Almost with in the comics. They don't show him in his suit, right? They haven't shown him in his suit have in the show or Gen V and the comics his suit is kind of like Iron Iron man She's like he's a cross between Batman and Iron Man basically Yeah. um But there's a lot of like Batman versus Superman references. You kind of get the you kind of yeah tension between him and Homelander throughout this episode. His butler's name is Elijah instead of Alfred. He's an older black man. um And he has his own version of the Batcave that he calls the Tech Cave. And it is not what you expect. It's not a so it's not a spoof of the Batcave whatsoever.
00:19:12
Speaker
It is his own sex dungeon in his basement where he tortures tortures people. And of course, Huey coming in dressed as Webweaver, who by the way, his only power is he can shoot webs right of a hole right above his asshole. so Yeah, ah so Huey comes in dressed as the web weaver character, but this whole this whole leotard almost looks like a menace masochistic yeah uniform that you see out of a gimp from pulp fiction, but Huey comes in goes down in the basement and gets tied up by tech night who is Mm-hmm who is torturing him and he was trying to learn the safe word trying to say the safe word guess it but he doesn't know what it is and
00:19:58
Speaker
yeah The whole entire episode. Zediah was a safe word, yes. um But yeah, this was a torturous, torturous scene that played out. I won't get into the specifics of it, but Huey was tortured and by the end of it he starts breaking down. His dad did just die, but I think it was a combination of being tortured at his father's death that fucking made him break down. The other big reveal in this episode is something that you brought up last week. The theory that you had was Kessler, who was played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, is a figment of Butcher's Imagination. um That was revealed to the very last minutes of this episode, that all these visions that he's been having, um he's been pretty much talking to himself and this guy's in his head. and you go
00:20:46
Speaker
You can definitely notice it in this episode before the reveal. You do. Because he'd be talking, but nobody he was talking to or about would respond to him. They would just respond to Butcher. Yeah. So you kind of knew it, especially this episode. Yeah, we did. And yeah, so we are episode six on this. We get two more episodes of this as well. Also, can I bring up something that I just found out? What? The new girl from the South in the show that that hates. What's her name? Yeah. um Played by fucking Andrea from The Walking Dead. Okay. She didn't look a blon look like her. yeah it's That's Andrew from the walking dead. I had no idea. Um, I saw a thread on, I saw a thread on, twitter um, Twitter about people that are in the boys and who they play, uh, for Marvel and DC and, um, and other like things. And, um, she came up and she was, and I just noticed the name and I was like, wait a minute. So she's also been a Marvel stuff. I think she was in Jessica Jones. Um,
00:21:44
Speaker
and So, yeah, I know it's like I think that was Andrea on The Walking Dead and I looked it up and I was like, holy shit, looks nothing like her.

House of Dragon Episodes

00:21:50
Speaker
Obviously, she's wearing a ah red wig or or dyed her hair. But I was thought that was kind of cool because Jeffrey Dean Morgan, of course, is also in this news in The Walking Dead. Yeah, Homelander in this episode also found his is milk again. We won't get into any details, but there's a funny funny reaction to his face when he gets squirted with milk. It wasn't from um it wasn't from a milk a bottle. Say that. um House of Dragon, episode three. I thought this episode was great. This season has been very good. um I know you're excited about the next few episodes coming out, but you said six six or eight episodes this season. Eight, yeah. Okay, good. So we're not even halfway yet.
00:22:28
Speaker
Yeah, um but we see Heron Hall um From what I say, what from what I heard in the show, this is where Aegon the Conqueror destroyed the whole hall? Is that what happened? Basically, it and he was taking over Westeros and they were like, well, we're not going to give up our castle to you. Like, basically Aegon's whole thing was, if you just bo bend the knee, then you can keep your lands and titles. Like, I don't care. Like, just bend the knee and call me your king. And they refused to. So the father and his sons were like,
00:23:02
Speaker
Dragons can't fucking get in here cuz it's all stone or whatever. So a guns like Okay, so basically he took all his dragons up top and just torched it. So basically they burned alive inside of an oven um Essentially turning the whole building to an oven um And yeah, this this house ends up being we're like we're as you saw this. Yes It's we're Damon pretty much stakes his claim like because the club foots technically the owner or whatever inherited it and But Damon's basically like, fuck that guy. He's in West. He's in King's Landing. He's like, yeah, I'm just taking this castle for myself. Yeah. We did see that in this episode. um The other thing that we saw in this episode were four dragon eggs yeah being brought to I can't remember what that land is called. The same land that Daenerys. They're going to Game of Thrones. No, they're going to. They're going to the place with the hole in the sky. um That place. I can't remember.
00:23:58
Speaker
um like an another the name but but yeah three of the eggs are the eggs from gamemmothrons one of them is for one of the children right yeah there's that's a fourth one the little that one the little brother that is being taken there by the cousin um and the cousin eventually I believe is the one that ends up writing cs smoke which was Ranera's husband's dragon before he left in the first season. Remember that was the dragon they like overlooked in there like the dragon's getting a ansty like getting like anxiety like the dragon's no shit's gonna go down soon so.
00:24:31
Speaker
yeah So we did see some dragon eggs three of them are confirmed to be the ones from Game of Thrones We also see this secret Targaryen. I don't know if you know anything about this. He's they stopped in the pick at a quick scene going under in a bar His name is all yeah um, do you know anything about this? Is that he's just one of the alleged bastards? Um, okay, which they talk about like all the bastards in the book, but they never really name any of them so I think that's just like him kind of representing the fact that that the previous Targaryen kings all had bastards. um And eventually they come in a lot of the bastards do end up coming into the war.
00:25:07
Speaker
Okay. Like you mentioned, Damon is taking claim to Harrenhal, and the whole episode makes you think that this place is maybe haunted. Yeah. So he ends up having visions, and this vision gets him into one of these rooms, and he sees Reneres in this room, but it's the younger one. It's Millie Alcock coming back as a cameo in this episode as a younger version of herself. Yeah. That was nice to see. Yep, um, and you also see her Reneris the older version Having an infiltration to King's Landing go talk to Allison um Wants to talk to her before the war comes because there's gonna be a lot of blood on both sides Try to stop it before any more blood and fire is shed. Um Try us to figure out what happened. Why why did you turn your back on me? What happened? Mm-hmm? Long story short
00:26:02
Speaker
allison got the story wrong um and the story i mean we knew that from the very beginning but now they both know that oh shit we got this wrong allison she way more likekable um the show than she is in the book like in the book you just fucking um i think that theyre earn motion doing the so yeah can't stop it now the wheels of war emotion allison knows that so she's like i can't see anything what's that what's that going to do that everybody's already is already ready to fight so um at the very end the very last scene you see is renara so she has a smirk on her face like all these motherfuckers are going to get murked
00:26:37
Speaker
oh Yeah, great.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Insights

00:26:38
Speaker
I can't wait to see that's gonna happen. We've got a few more episodes of the season um Yeah um Road to Deadpool and Wolverine we are officially under three weeks away. I am excited beyond excited um We're gonna talk about two movies this week first one is probably one of the better top two movies of phase five phase four and And that is, the movie came out on May 5th of last year, 2023, the 32nd film in the MCU. Guardians of the Galaxy, Volume 3, the end of the trilogy, last for director James Gunn. Talk about a little bit of history and journey, how we got to this movie. This movie was greenlit not too long after the second volume.
00:27:26
Speaker
And then Twitter decided to come along and pop up old tweets from James Gunn. Because James Gunn was talking about Trump and one of Trump's people went and found old tweets. him Politically based ah sabotage. And all these all these tweets came back to haunt him and there were old there were they were tweets that were not politically correct in our and weren't really correct but i mean back then. If you were on Twitter in 2009, 2011, some people said some wild, wild shit like Chrissy Teigen was another one that got in a lot of trouble for posting weird stuff and a lot of other people did too, like years after it was posted. Yeah, um yeah it was the wild west back then.
00:28:10
Speaker
But um that he got fired from Disney immediately. um There was no hesitation on their part. They fired him. um He ends up getting hired at DC does suicide squad the the reboot of the suicide squad does an amazing job for them gets on their good graces and Meanwhile, they're trying to find a director for Guardians of the galaxy volume 3 to finish the story and the whole entire cast holds Disney hostage pretty much and tells them James Gunn's a good guy hiring and we hire him
00:28:41
Speaker
And that's exactly what happened in a me to movement and everything that happened in this in this pro meet me to me to era very rare to see something somebody get their job back after something like that he's especially especially of all places at Disney of all places but he did he came back for volume three um To rehire to reach it to just finish his story, which is great We'll talk more about his move this DC towards the end, but we'll talk about the story so far um So far Guardians volume one came out in 25th 2014 we know that's where we met the Guardians for the very first time they fought Ronin the accuser and Trying to get in one of the soles one of the stones from the infinity stones Achieved that then we get to volume two. That's where yondu one of the ravishers who raised Peter Cole parishes Mary Poppins y'all
00:29:37
Speaker
And then when we get to Endgame, we see all of them perish pretty much into dust. And then they come back. Gamora dies because she has to sacrifice herself to get the Soul Stone. So in this movie, Peter Quill has another Gamora that came back in Endgame. through time travel fuckery, who he hopes is the same Gamora that he fell in love with, but from a different universe, different time, it's not. um That story plays out in this movie. um And then we get to this the Star Wars
00:30:09
Speaker
Slash guardians of the galaxy Christmas special that came out on Disney Plus a few months before this movie came out, which was great um James Gunn came back directed that at the same time. He directed this movie it came out about six months before and at Christmas time. It was great to Brought back Kevin Bacon the whole joke that's been playing from the very beginning actually play out in that movie and that ah TV special but And then we get to here. We are finally at the point where we need to see where Rocket Raccoon came from. What is his origin story? um Find out that he was created by a villain new to this story called the High Evolutionarium, who takes um animals, experiments on them. He is one of them, one of the raccoons that he experimented on. Put a whole bunch of these prosthetic stuff, robotic stuff into him to make him a better person, a better animal.
00:31:03
Speaker
um Because he's trying to create the best the highest evolution that he can in a in a in a subject um That's basically what the whole movie is about um Like I mentioned movies about Peter Quill getting over the loss of his Gamora from his time that perished with the soul stone While still having this other one as a shadow over him from the other universe that like got stuck here um She's a ravager now um Throughout the movie, he's trying to woo her. Doesn't work. She wants nothing to do with him. She even tells him, I'm not your Gamora. But yeah, um new additions to the cast. We got Cosmo the space dog voiced by the girl who was in the boat second Borat movie. And Will Poulter.
00:31:44
Speaker
As Adam Warlock, which was teased in Volume 2 in the cocoon, who actually came out too soon in this. It's kind of like a childish dumb person. Will Polter. What movie we always talk about with him when he was a kid? We're the Millers. We are the Millers. Funny as hell in that. He grew up, got beefed, got roided as we like to say with the wrestlers. And he he's become the, i he's in the bear too. He plays the chef in the bear. He comes back towards the end of that season too, and this season. But yeah, he comes back as Adam Warlock.
00:32:22
Speaker
um Also, the big thing about these movies are the soundtracks. These had notoriously had mixtapes. But in the end of the last movie, he ended up having a Zune, Microsoft Zune from the early 2000s, operated to the music a little bit to the 90s and 2000s. And that's also where the soundtrack played out to when it came out in volume three. a More mellow, a lot more slower somber songs in this too, not a lot of, like back back in volume 1 and volume 2 we had a little more upbeat. This was a very very somber, you kind of get the the sadness because this movie was sad, completely sad. yeah very but whole origin the ho The whole origin of Rocket is completely sad.
00:33:09
Speaker
He ends up he ends up being imprisoned by the high evolutionary as when he's a little but he's a little raccoon um he ends up meeting Lila teeths and floor who are an otter a rabbit and a um walrus walrus um ends up being his family um and they have a huge tragic story too i don't want to play out the whole entire thing but the high evolutionary ends up killing all of them except for rocket rocket takes revenge rips his face off um so when you see the high evolutionary in present time he has his face like a synthetic face pulled over his whole entire face that rocket had already destroyed when he was younger um
00:33:53
Speaker
Craggling who is James Gunn's brother in real life? um He was given Yondu's arrow in the whole entire movie. He can't figure out how to use it Finally towards the end of the movie He has a vision of Yondu and he can finally use the arrow because the best thing in this is that fucking arrow one of the best scenes in the volume volume one was where Yondu takes the arrow to all the bad guys in the in the in that movie and does the same thing in the prison in the second in the second volume too so i'm glad that that crackling can use that arrow now um lots of swerves a lot of lots of close calls in this movie because we knew for a lot of a lot of these actors this was going to be their swan song we knew day batista wasn't going to come back
00:34:35
Speaker
We kind of knew Zoe Saldana wasn't going to come back as Gamora. We knew for the most part that these guys were kind of strung out on the story, and kind of strung out on Disney, especially after the James Gunn stuff happened. Dave Batista was very adamant about that. Yeah, very much. but not About not coming back. Um So this was their swan song So there were a lot of close calls a lot of close deaths between I mean rocket throughout the whole entire movie You thought he was going to die There was a scene where at the very end You thought peter quill was going to be lost in space and die because he started to puff up like the like space that killed him But he ended up being saved. Um This movie was very much james gunne's personal story. Um
00:35:18
Speaker
He always figured himself more as a rocket raccoon character. yeah um He kind of put himself into that character. um Made it an image of himself. Also, the Animal Rice was a huge part of this story. because of all the stuff the the experiments that the High Evolutionary was doing. he He's such a huge animal rights activist. He adopts pets. yeah um He won the PETA award last year. He did. he had He had raccoons on set when he did the original movie. um So he's been huge into that. This is kind of a love letter to that. Like you said, he got got the award for PETA last year. Also, this movie, I didn't talk about Groot that much. Groot is in this. He's kind of an older,
00:35:58
Speaker
older teenage version of Groot now because it's a rebirth of Groot, different Groot from the first movie. um The very last scene we see of him, we hear him say, I love you guys. This is kind of like a nod to the audience, like um everybody that kind of knows Groot grew up to know Groot. starts to understand him. So this is kind of like his last word, like, okay, the audience knows who I am now. So now he now you can understand that I say I love you guys to all this group of guardians. um So it's a farewell to the old team, like I mentioned. ah Mantis is gone. Drax is gone. Gamora goes back to her Ravager's family that she's that she's made in this new world. um Quill goes back to Earth, finally, back on Earth.
00:36:42
Speaker
After being abducted when he was younger um So it's a farewell to the old team and towards the end of the movie in the mid-credits scene We see a new team assemble. We see a larger tolerant roots. We see craggling fine finally being able to use the arrow We see Adam Warlock joining the Guardians. We see Cosmo we see this little young girl that they saved the whole entire colony of a these girls are being held by the high evolutionary before they captured him, before they killed him, deleted scene, they captured him, movie, actual movie, they killed him. And we also see the the whole entire team being led by Rocket Raccoon. And that's the very last scene we see of the new, of this new set of Guardians of the Galaxies. um Movie was on a $250 million dollars budget, made $845 million dollars worldwide.
00:37:34
Speaker
358 of that in North America. 82% are Rotten Tomatoes, 94% Audience Score, just because it was a fitting ending to the whole entire trilogy. We knew this a lot. Lastly, we're going to be seeing some of these characters. um The movie ends with a title card, Legendary Star war Lord Will Return. um And we see it we see him on earth eating cereal with his with his grandfather. Um, yeah James Gunn's legacy as an MCU filmmaker one of the best filmmakers that have shown up on the MCU Original the soundtrack the music the music that he put in that in these projects Has shown up in every single comic book project from every other studio since
00:38:17
Speaker
The first Suicide Squad started having mainstream music in it because of a movie like this with a soundtrack. um he He also did that in DC with his Suicide Squad, but other movies have done that as well. um And because of the whole switcheroo that happened when he did go to Suicide Squad, Did such a great job with that movie got highly praised brought it up after having that movie first movie was so bad DC asked him to take over the whole entire DC universe and reboot it in his image what he wanted what he thought the re rebooted DC you should be and scrapped everything they hired him as the head and that's what he's doing now and that's he's kind of the
00:38:57
Speaker
the brainchild of what we're going to be seeing with Superman, what we're going to be seeing with Brave and Bold, with a new and the new take on Batman. And then he got rid of everything DCEU with the Snyderverse, which we talk about all the time too. But the legacy of this man, um great creator, great director, great sense of ah of nostalgic music to put into his to his movies. um great movie great trilogy one of the best trilogies i think probably the better trilogies of the marvel cinematic universe for sure and think about like the music too as a lot of people don't like ever bring it up but like that's not like he uses like pop songs from the 70s 80s and 90s yeah that's like not his that's not his music like he listens to like he listens to like punk rock and like grunge and shit like that
00:39:45
Speaker
So he's using he's using music he doesn't even really care for or listen to just because it fits what he's doing. um yeah He's a fantastic storyteller too. um like yeah He does have a lot of like immature jokes. oh But that's always wrapped around a really in-depth story. Gotta see what he does with Superman. I'm super excited. Still a little nervous, but I like a lot of what we've seen so far. We'll talk about that a little bit. We'll see. We'll talk about that a little bit, too. But the other thing I want to bring up is, like you mentioned with the soundtrack,
00:40:17
Speaker
A lot of these songs haven't been heard in decades. yes The artists that he's giving this little jump to are making bank now because of the yeah the success of these movies and the success of the success of those soundtracks. um Come and get your love. i had that song playing non-stop for like two years straight because i love that soundtrack so much um and it's just it's just an incredible what he's done to those artists uh giving them giving them props 30 40 years later but uh great um i like he said i can't wait to see what he does in the dcu he says it's sad to see him go from marvel because it seemed like he was going to be ahead of
00:40:58
Speaker
Before all the shit happened in tweets, it sounded like he's going to be ahead of all the galactic stuff at Marvel. Yes. um Like you would have been fantastic for yeah he probably would have been directing Fantastic to be honest. And it would have been probably in charge of the multiverse stuff, too. So yeah it's it's sad to see all that go. But he's got a whole other sandbox now because the DC universe is gigantic, too. So obviously, you know me, I'm much more a DC guy than Marvel guy. So yeah, I'm looking forward to what he does.

X-Men Franchise Impact

00:41:24
Speaker
um like a Second movie we're going to talk about, ah we haven't talked about any of the X-Men movies. So we are picking two. This week we're going to talk about Days of Future Past. um We have a brief history of the Fox movies, the Fox X-Men movies. 2000, the very first X-Men. We saw Hugh Jackman come in and as the iconic character of Wolverine. We saw Bryan Singer come in direct that movie.
00:41:50
Speaker
And we had Halle Berry play Storm, James Marsden play Cyclops, Anna Paquin play Rogue. Who am I missing? this Well, Patrick Stewart coming in as a perfect on-screen adaptation of Professor and Professor Xavier. Yeah, it's Magneto. So a huge cast in the very beginning. This was the one of the best first Marvel comic book movies to hit the screen. Wait. Yeah, this is this. This is it. year but two years before yeah The success of this franchise
00:42:25
Speaker
You could say, birth the MCU as we know it today. yeah um I mean, Feige got his start on that set too. so um And Bryan Singer, he always had a problem with the suits. that was That was the biggest problem I had with him. He didn't think that the outfits from the comic books would work on screen, so yeah he tried his his best to make it more tactical. yeah Which is weird because now we see suits all the time on these on these Marvel yeah DC. I mean so to be fair at that time I mean very first time so very first time you're doing something like that. So yeah Yeah, um so we got that then we got x2, which is another great movie. We saw Nightcrawler show up and Alan coming played him Great scene probably one of the best comic book scenes is the infiltration of the White House in the first 10 minutes um and then we saw that we saw the Phoenix at the end of that and
00:43:16
Speaker
And then we get to X-Men The Last Stand, where everything imploded with Bryan Singer leaving. um What's his name from Rush Hour came in to direct those movies. And a lot of problematic shit happened in that, where they killed Professor and Xavier, they killed Cyclops. Jean Grey ends up dying, the only one that survives that pretty much is Rogue, Wolverine, Iceman, all the secondary characters of that movie. um lot of people A lot of people panned that movie, a lot of fans didn't like it, um thought it was kind of the end of the franchise, but nothing ended the Wolverine character because they ended up doing Wolverine Origins.
00:43:54
Speaker
there were plans to do a wolver or There were plans to do a Magneto Origins movie. Then it ended up being X-Men First Class, which rebooted the whole entire series after The Last Stand was a failure. And then we got the Wolverine, which is Wolverine in Shanghai fighting the the Silver Samurai, or something one of those main villains of his back in the day. And then we get to this movie, Days of Future Past. um This is a sequel to not only The Last Stand, but it's a sequel to The Wolverine.
00:44:30
Speaker
sequel to Wolverine showing him in the futuristic apocalypse of this. um This movie came out May 23rd of 2014, 10 years ago. um Seventh film in the X-Men universe bridging the gap between first class cast and the Bryan Singer cast from the very beginning of the X-Men franchise. Bryan Singer came back to return to direct this movie. um You see a futuristic dystopian world where mutants are imp prisons imprisoned and annihilated by a new threat finally coming to the X-Men, the Sentinels, for the very first time. If you grew up watching the X-Men in the 90s on the cartoons, Sentinels were a huge part of that.
00:45:10
Speaker
um We finally finally see him on the screen for the very first time. We did see a glimpse of a head of a sentinel in the danger room in the last stand, I believe. um But in the future, these these sentinels can adapt to mutant powers. um All thanks to years of experiments on Mystique, which the whole reason they go back in the past in this movie is to try to get Mystique to stop killing Bolivar Trask. who is played by Peter Dangleidge. Peter Bolivar-Trask is the one that created the Sentinel program. He does experiments on Mystique to the point where they use her ability to shape shift to make it so these Sentinels can adapt to Moon powers. So Logan gets sent back to 1972 to stop her. um We also see in new additions to the cast of Evan Peters as Quicksilver.
00:46:01
Speaker
This is at the same time where Aaron Taylor-Johnson was hired at Marvel to play Quicksilver in Age of Ultron because the rights at that time were fucked between Fox and Marvel. um But the slow scene the slow motion scene with Evan Peters in this is probably one of the also better scenes of an X-Men or Marvel comic book movie. um I did watch the rogue cut when I watch this when I'm reviewing right now um Rogue cut is a little bit differently different because in the theatrical version Rogue only showed up in the very end of the movie, but there's a whole plot point in this rogue cut where shadow cat Who was played by what's her name? Who's now what's his name?
00:46:43
Speaker
She um ends up getting injured by Wolverine's claws when he wakes up in the future because of time travel fuckery. So they have to use Rogue's power to absorb her power, take over from that point forward in keeping Wolverine in the past to keep him on his track to try to keep the history of the Sentinels from happening. but don't want to get into into too much but towards the end they prevail um and the whole entire ah dystopian future doesn't exist um they they go back Wolverine gets sent back to his time at the very end and everyone
00:47:25
Speaker
It's like Last Stand didn't happen. Everyone's alive in 2023. Everyone is is in the X Mansion, including Jean Grey, including Professor x Xavier, Cyclops, everybody's alive. That was my biggest coming out of the movie theater, seeing this 10 years ago, was wow. That was great. Because Last Stand was such a bad bla bad blemish on these movies. yeah um After credits of this movie, we see Ancient Egypt. egyptians are worshipping a mutant while he's using his telekinetic powers to shape and build the pyramids this ends up being a young apocalypse who the next movie in this franchise is x-men apocalypse um we also see a very cool scene in that movie which we're not going to talk about that movie but um we see a great scene in that movie with wolverine coming back in that
00:48:16
Speaker
To show him in the weapon X program with the whole weapon X Comic book accurate uniform with the head mask and everything looked awesome. He's very animalistic in that That's probably the best part of that movie. The rest of it can be skipped um Oscar Isaac was wasted his apocalypse, but it's a whole other story. Yeah $200 million dollars budget, $746 million dollars box soup talk so that box office, $233 million in North America. ah Third highest grossing X-Men movie behind Deadpool 1 and Deadpool 2. 90% Rotten Tomato, 91% Audience, so a lot of people love this movie.
00:48:53
Speaker
a pretty critics and audience. um And after years of having mediocre films, the film's critical and monetary success proved to 20th Century Fox that, yeah, once again, you're worth it. Putting these X-Men movies out are worth it. So, ended up greenlighting the Deadpool movies, ended up greenlighting the best, one of the best comic book movies, not only X-Men, but the best comic book movie, which we're gonna talk about next week, Logan, Wolverine's supposed swan song. um but it kept it afloat for a few more years until the Disney acquisition and there's a lot of other failures that happened which we'll get into that next week when we talk about Logan but um overall um for me it's this movie X2 well maybe no see
00:49:40
Speaker
i always forget about logan because logan is still part of this but logan this movie and the next two um as far as the best x-men movies um deadpool one and two are up there too but um just i'm just can't continue of this in it kind of the thing about deadpool is then they're in this universe but they're not um it's kind of weird but um So yeah, we'll talk about

Influence of Beverly Hills Cop

00:50:04
Speaker
next week. We'll talk about the final movie that came out in the MCU The Marvels and Logan which I can't wait to I haven't I haven't seen Logan in a while So I can't wait to watch that um yeah Also this week
00:50:17
Speaker
um Beverly Hills Cop, Axel F. You have not seen it yet, no but we will talk about Beverly Hills Cop 1 and Beverly Hills Cop 2. Beverly Hills Cop 1, I know you've seen it a bunch of times. I know you like two as well. I like two, but not as much as one. yes it's like a If one's like a five, I'd say two is like a solid four. Okay. I don't know. But in that movie, the bad guy, one of the bad guys is Mike from Breaking Bad, a younger Mike. um We also see Damon Waynes with hair before he was on Living Color. Take the bananas.
00:50:53
Speaker
take the bananas yep um The soundtrack of that movie is great. They play off of that in the new Axle F2. I mean Axle F, I was gonna clip it for the show, I forgot to do it, but that whole entire song is iconic 80s song. It's so iconic that they named the sequel Axle F, but um yeah great mix of comedy, action, drama. Many movies after this followed the same exact formula. Born bad guy dealing in shitty illegal shit. A comedic star, a good cop, bad cop, sidekick, sidekicks, overbearing profanity, lace police chief, all of that kind of followed this movie. um Die hard.
00:51:35
Speaker
um blue streak in the 90s. Everything kind of was kind of blueprint to that. um And then but Beverly Hills Cop 2, same thing. The soundtrack was great. um We saw the addition of Bridget Nielsen, who was in Red Sonja. She was in a few other ones. Dean Stockwell, who was in Quantum Leap. He was one of the bad guys. um We see Chris Rock in this before he was famous. We see the Playboy Mansion, Hugh Hefner, Gilbert Godfried. um Two great iconic 80s movies with Eddie Murphy before Eddie Murphy kind of went off the rails and stopped being, not necessarily funny, but stopped being edgy, I guess. yeah um But Axle F, I don't want to get into the details if you haven't seen it.
00:52:18
Speaker
The OG soundtrack played a huge part in this. Kind of the best out of that mixed with a lot of new stuff too. um All the original cast returns with a few additions. Axel has a daughter in this. um Kevin Bacon and Joseph Gordon Levin show up. Taggart is now a police chief. um There is an awesome shooter, McGavin Cameo. I can't wait to wait you just wait for you to see. but I put it in the notes. Nostalgic film familiarity. Just works. It just pays off. um Very familiar. Very fitting movie in this in this franchise, especially after the third one was okay. Not that great. But yeah, I want you to see it. It's on Netflix. If you have Netflix, it's free

Horror Movie Reviews

00:52:59
Speaker
basically. But um yeah, it's pretty good. Pretty damn good.
00:53:03
Speaker
I like, uh, I like, uh, Judge Reinhold coming back for this. It's great to see him back, uh, back doing stuff with the three of them. Um, I can't believe Tagger. He's gotta be in his eighties now, but he looks, he looks old, but, but, uh, yeah. Um, Last thing, a couple more things before we get into news. You watched a movie today. I completely forgot you saw this movie. um and I know you want to give a little synopsis review. Yep. I saw a Mac scene in theaters today. And surprisingly, for a movie that was at 10.30 in the morning, there was a good amount of people there. I was surprised about that. It's in the smaller theaters of the Regal. but
00:53:40
Speaker
Yeah, it's very good. It's not really horror at all. It's ah more of like a mystery and they base it um around real so serial killings that happened in l LA in 1985 and she is now trying to go from being a porno actress to a real actress and she has a stalker and I kind of saw the twist coming Pretty early on, oh as far as how it's built, it's built very much like the first two, where a lot of the first half is set up and then everything pays off in the second half. Like X, there really isn't any like killings until like almost to the third act. And this was kind of similar.
00:54:19
Speaker
um But it's fantastic. Miagoth is fantastic in it. um I can't wait to watch it again when it comes out. I don't know if we'll do it if we'll review or if you'll review it in August or so when it comes out on digital or if we'll wait for October because it really isn't like I said it's not a horror movie so it probably doesn't have to be done in October. ah And I kind of see why they released in July which I had an issue with but now that's like I said, it's not really a horror movie um I can see why they were release it now Kevin Bacon's great and choose the scenery and every scene he's in Giancarlo Esposito also fantastic he plays her agent um and
00:54:59
Speaker
What's his name? I'm blanking on his name right now, but kind of Ali is a cop. I mean, obviously, i yeah he's always a cop and he plays that to perfection as as usual, too. But I had a good time in this movie. It's a quick hour and a half. So I'm not going to waste much time if you don't actually like it. oh One person dig it up and leave. I know it was because of a certain scene in the movie. that has to do with testicles. But I'll let you see that when you see it. um But it got a lot of groans in that scene. um But yeah, it was a good time in the movies. I was glad I saw it. And I also want to talk about a movie I saw last night, um which is a very, like,
00:55:44
Speaker
cheaply made horror movie called In a Violent Nature. um Nature plays a big part in this as the only sound in this movie outside of 1C with a Bluetooth speaker is nature. um When he's walking around during the day you hear birds chirping. At night you hear like crickets and whatnot. Um, but it's your typical, um, quote unquote slow kid slash retarded person gets bullied when he's a kid, then he grows up, he grows up in the woods and he's killing people. But, um, it is super natural for this.
00:56:16
Speaker
Yeah, it is supernatural. There's so a couple of really cool kills. If the budget was higher, it wouldn't work way better. But I heard they refilmed like 80% of the movie, because once they got to a certain point, they realized the setting that they originally filmed in wasn't working. So they started from scratch. oh But yeah, I mean, overall, it's, it's better than like the Terrifier movies, it does have some god god awful acting in it. um But I enjoyed myself that was another like hour and a half it was in and out. um I did tell you earlier there was a lot of walking like Lord of the Rings style walk like Lord of the Rings they walk a lot and that has nothing on this there's like a full like eight minute montage of literally just like
00:56:58
Speaker
below the knees of the killer just walking from like day to night back to day to night to day to night just walking around these woods and I'm like come on but uh overall I enjoyed it um it's tough to get into a lot of horror now it's trash um luckily we had this and uh talked to me was last year was pretty good um But yeah, it's good. I mean, I always have to vet horror movies that I might want to save for October. I don't think I'm going to have you watch this in October just because I know like, I don't want you to watch like the most grotesque stuff. Like I i know what's in your wheelhouse and what you can tolerate. I think you'd be fine with this.
00:57:34
Speaker
There's a really, really gnarly kill um where he has like a hook and it's tied to a chain. And it's fucking, it's really cool. um So if you want to watch it, I will i will get it for you and will we'll see if you like it. But yeah, overall, I enjoyed it. Maxine was really a well done movie. This movie was just something to throw on because I wanted to get my fix of horror for the night. OK. I know what you did last summer and you consider that a horror movie. Yeah. I've never seen that, so mark that down for October. We should do that in October. that's I enjoy that movie. Of course, it was at the time, too, where Scream was hot and all that stuff. um But I do like it when we did it last summer. Plus, the cast has all like gone to become really famous in that film. so Yeah, mark that down. We'll definitely do that. But let's get into the news.

Upcoming Movie Trailers and Releases

00:58:33

And it's not a new set but we'll have a trailer around it. Brand new trailer for Hellboy the Crooked Man. Another reboot of Hellboy directed by Mike Mignola who created Hellboy. He's actually directing it. um Got a new character new actor playing Hellboy. I don't remember his name. Jack Cassie. I don't know who he is. Don't know what else he's been in. But i looks the suit looks more reminiscent of the Ron Perlman Hellboy. Yes. um I don't know. I don't know what to think about Hellboy. They rebooted it quick. Because the last one came out like three years ago, right? Came out like right after the pandemic? Yeah, with David Harbour, played him. um But yeah, i I really wanted to see Ron Perlman come back and finish that story, but the third one yeah I don't think we'll ever see that. Another trailer for John Cena, Awkwafina.

called Jackpot, directed by Paul Feig, coming out on August 15th on Amazon Prime. um I don't like Aquafina, however, I do like John Cena, especially when he's in the comedy, so I may want to watch this. Plus, I mean, it's on Prime. It's not like we have to leave the house free. Yeah, so. Yeah, we may watch that. um So let's get into the news box office last week inside out won the box office yet again with fifty seven point four million dollars a quiet place fifty three not too far away. um Horizon the American saga the new the new movie by Kevin Costner eleven million big drop off part one of four.
01:00:06
Speaker
Part 1 of 4, and everybody says it's shit. um and Inside Out 2, first film of this year to hit $1 billion dollars in the global box office. It surpassed the original films, $863 million. dollars ah And Horizon, the biggest flop of this year, $11 million. dollars He put, ah I think, $100 million dollars into it. $100 million, yeah. And as of his own money, um plus there's four of them. And a lot of people say this three hour epic, just this movie alone is boring.
01:00:43
Speaker
um I've heard it's okay if you just go into it knowing it's a part one, but a lot of people didn't know it was going to be like, I guess it just like, it just ends. Like there's no resolution to anything. I think that pissed a lot of people off. Like it literally just ends in part two is out in like August.

Yeah, but ah yeah, he stopped doing this for Yellowstone, which I've never seen Yellowstone. um He pretty much put his foot down saying that you're not going to give me time to film this while doing Yellowstone while I'm just going to give up Yellowstone. That's what happened. The Bear. Season 3 hit 5.4 million views in just four days. Hulu's biggest scripted premiere ever.

um Everybody loves this show. Critics love this show. Audience loves it too. Arrest and Peace to Martin Mull. In a lot of stuff growing up, he was in Clue. um I remember him from Roseanne. Arrest and Development. ah I remember teenage Sabrina the Teenage Witch. i mean He was in a lot of stuff back then. um He did a comedy team with him and Fred Willard. was he They were in Roseanne together too. um He was 80 years old. It's a rest in peace to him Max and Paramount Plus they could be merging rumors came out this week that Warner Brothers is open to exploring a Paramount streaming merger um I think that's pretty much about as far as it's gonna go to go um we've We've been talking it for years like we had we had the in we had the infancy we had the Renaissance of streaming
01:02:16
Speaker
Now it's becoming more like cable. um All of my streaming services I believe now are all ad supported because I can't afford anything other than that because they're all $20 to $25 a piece. right so um We got a new poster for Terminator 0 coming on August 29th on Netflix. james may yeah newton This is new anime version of Terminator. i Me too. I'm kind of interested too. I wonder what take they're gonna use. I mean, I really wonder like is it gonna be a completely different story from John and Sarah? Or is it gonna be like maybe the beginning of the war because it's called Zero?
01:02:53
Speaker
Have no idea and it's coming out. It's also coming out on Judgment Day, too. So that's kind of cool August 29th. That was cool. Yeah, um, that's a new cast members for For the new season of Sandman Biggest addition on here. I can see there's two Steve Coogan and Jack Gleason who was in Game of Thrones He played King Joffrey. He's he's coming out of retirement. Good to see coming out of coming out of retirement the other thing a lot of these characters are based off of Norse missal mythology. I don't know anything about this this part of the comic book. However, I know Loki, Thor, Odin are all cast in this. I didn't scan the notes, but did you put in the notes what happened to Neil Gaiman? I did not. This week? No. Did you hear about it?
01:03:43
Speaker
no i have not like five cases of sex he's the guy that created ah the comic salmon and he has a bunch of sexual assault cases coming against him now um that's happened before in the past president yeah yeah with him i think so but it's all like coming up again i guess um from like assistants that used to work with him and stuff like that Yeah, I heard about that years ago, but it must be yeah new allegations. Yeah. Okay. um Now you see me three. Official date coming out November 14th in 2025. I gotta watch the second one. Those movies are pretty good, at least the first one. I heard the second one is absolute trash, but I do like the first one a lot.
01:04:21
Speaker
We saw our first glimpse first pictures from the gladiator 2 haven't seen the trailer yet Ridley Scott's next movie come out in November 22nd Sequel to the first gladiator movie which we're gonna review in the fun in the fall Paul Misko playing the son of Of of what's his name? Maximus first maximus yeah, I'll see if it's for him. Yep Russell Crowe We see Denzel we see Joseph we see Joseph Quinn looking very feminine. I don't know to tell how to say that. We also see Pedro Pascal. For all he was in this movie too, but he's gonna be fighting in this movie. So yeah, I can't wait to watch the first gladiator I haven't seen in 20 years, so that'll be good.
01:05:07
Speaker
um We saw some new posters for The Crow, the reboot coming out next month with ah with a Scar's Guard. It's still coming out August 23rd, even after everybody's talking shit about it. so I'll be there that day. I'll be there when it comes out digitally. I don't know. I kind of do want to see it, but I loved that first one. and I just recently found my love for that movie. I don't know if I want to watch this or not. um Apple TV plus continues to grow in the United States um overtook Paramount Plus um I thought Paramount Plus had a lot of cool stuff on there to watch but Apple TV is growing I don't think Apple TV has a big huge catalog either but Paramount at least has a whole movie catalog behind them but
01:05:51
Speaker
no Yeah. Saw some new pictures from ah Rings of Power coming out in a couple about two months now. Saw some hill trolls. The part being inspired by Mike from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. So yeah, we'll wait and see on that. um Trap. movie coming up of M. Night Shyamalan in a month from now. um M. Night Shyamalan says it was what, Silence of the Lambs, if it happened in a Taylor Swift concert this week. That's how he compares. I saw that preview before Maxine again. This movie looks awesome. I can't wait for it. Yeah, the brand new trailer came out this week or last week. I don't think I talked about it, but yeah. Those look good. um Highlander reboot. um Filming set for next January in Scotland.
01:06:36
Speaker
With Henry Cavill of course cannot wait for that um Wicked move to move the date all around and moved up the date a week to give more time to Moana to Because they were gonna be opening up together I can't remember the other movie that it's opening up against but there's another big thing that they're talking about that week too, but So I'll be coming out in November 22nd Moana choose coming out on Thanksgiving week, I believe um Universal Studios has this new parade called the Mega Movie Parade where they're having a whole bunch of attractions of stuff that we love, um including Ghostbusters. They have a Ghostbusters Parade float. They have an E.T. Parade float. They have a Jurassic Park Jurassic World one.
01:07:20
Speaker
They have a Jaws one, and a Back to the Future one, where they have actors and characters from those movies on the float, on the line of the parade. I forgot to mention, in Maxine, she's on the back lot in Hollywood, and she runs through the courthouse from Back to the Future. That's pretty funny. That's awesome. I was like, oh shit, you see a lot of little things, you see the House from Psycho, stuff like that. It's a cool little callback to a lot of stuff we grew up on. but i tell you um
01:07:50
Speaker
Strange, I think Season 5 will be very long, have long

Stranger Things and Zack Snyder Updates

01:07:54
Speaker
episodes. According to Maya Hawks, she did an interview this week, um talking to me about 8 movies, very very long episodes. so yeah they'd be cool um do you know any Have you seen anything else about this next picture, the Zack Snyder picture, about the big screen? He's even pissed off his own fans this time. i um I know there's an update to this, you can talk about it. Yes, Zack Snyder posted on Vero, which is an app that he and only he uses, called Want to See Zack Snyder's Justice League on the big screen. Stay tuned for a date. So of course, everyone was up in arms, the whole fandom was like, ah blah, blah, blah, this is going to show that we're all going to go support the movie. Netflix is going to buy the Snyderverse, which Snyderverse isn't an IP, so that could never happen.
01:08:36
Speaker
um more James Gunn real really sit for yes and No, it's one date and it's the black and white version that's being played at the Egyptian in our Egyptian theater hour Which is basically just it's just being shown basically to promote the r-rated cuts of rebel moon to come out that day Essentially what's happening? um But yeah, even his own fans are pissed off at him at this point um for doing this shit um Yeah, cuz I remember when the news broke, like all of them were like, well, James Gunn had nothing to do with it cuz they can't credit James Gunn for doing anything anyways. And they're like, it's Abby and DeLuca who, by the way, are the ones that hired James Gunn over bringing back Zack Snyder. um But yeah, it's just Justice's Grey version is gonna be shown with, it's gonna be an all day thing. It's gonna be, I think, it's gonna be called like the many worlds of Zack Snyder or something like that. So they're gonna show Dawn of the Dead, Man of Steel.
01:09:30
Speaker
Zack Snyder is Justice League 300, I believe. is the Nope, not Rebel Moon, because that's a Netflix thing. It can't be shown in theaters. So yeah, 300. So it's like those four movies. It's like an all-day like Zack Snyder watch-along type deal. So um yeah, so you won't be able to see that on the big screen unless you live out in LA. By the way, that reminds me because I was thinking of that this week. Netflix has deal with movies and how they won't release them in theaters. I understand because they're looking for the views more than anything.
01:10:04
Speaker
But Beverly Hills Cop 4 would have been great in the theater, would have done huge numbers, would have made huge money. I mean, fucking Glass Onion made like 17 million in like 10 days. Yeah. Like they can get some of their budgets back by doing

Superman and Marvel Cinematic Universe

01:10:18
Speaker
that. And I think like, I think releasing the Zack Snyder movies, even though they were the Red Moons weren't that good. I think they would have made a decent amount of money if they were in theaters for, say, two weeks before they went to Netflix, because all of his fans would have gone there. I think that'd be that should be their model with some movies is Two weeks, say you put it on Netflix for like, I mean, you put it in theaters for two weeks, and then at the end of that second week is the day it goes onto Netflix itself. yeah Or do it like they did with Glass Onion, which was like a 10 day to two week run a month before it went to Netflix. and builds up It builds up a lot of hype. But I mean, I honestly don't think they did it with the Rebel Moon movies, because they knew they weren't that good.
01:10:54
Speaker
Yeah, I think so too. They knew ahead of time, but, but barely anything else caught four. I think they could have done it with it. It would have, yeah it would have been good. They could have released it two weeks later and would did could have done like a July 4th weekend and then just the next week, put it in on Netflix. Yeah. Yeah. It was definitely felt like a big screen movie and just was on a small screen, but, um, It's also new spy shots from Superman. We see him attempting to fly and take off. um We see him lifting up a big, looks like a big door of some sort from something. yep um i but also see him eyeed out yeah We also see him talking to Guy Gardner.
01:11:31
Speaker
Green Arrow. What do you think of the costume? The Guy Gardener Green Lantern. Yes. that's um yeah I like it. um They're obviously all being um Maxwell Lord is in control of them because they have the Lord suits and whatnot. I think the guy in blue is going to be metamorpho or somebody else. It's probably going to be mostly CGI i is my guess. um But the suits are supposed to look ridiculous and corporate okay for now. um I do love the Mr. Terrific suit because that's pretty comic accurate. um I love the fact that we're actually getting a Superman that has a cape on his outfit because the Henry Cavill Superman was all CGI, the cape. He might have had like one cape for like walking around, but I believe it was mostly CGI.
01:12:17
Speaker
and this so And this will probably be done in post, if anything they need to do. It is going to be fixed up in post. Like you can't really take set photos, like people show set photos from like Man of Steel or whatever and it's like to try to make this movie look bad but but it's they're just set photos and I'm sure everything's going to be fine by the time it comes out. We also see Hawk Girl for the very first time? Yep. Hawkman not part of this cast, correct? Just Hawk Girl. Yep, which sucks because he was awesome in Black Adam. He was great in Black Adam. I would have rather a Justice League of America or just Society of America movie than a Black Adam movie, because those people were all casted brilliantly.
01:12:52
Speaker
Yep. We see Superman hugging kids. um The other thing is we see a picture of Superman with dust and dirt all over him, too. He's in and about. Yes. um And the other thing we wanted to talk about before we get into the Marvel stuff is Christopher Reeve's son, Will Reeves, is going to cameo in Superman as a reporter. um He was actually filming on set. um He's an ABC News correspondent now in real life, um but he's going to be a television reporter in the film. Um, he was on set this week, uh, hogging and shaking hands with James Gunn, filming his scenes. Uh, so yeah, I can't wait. There's going to be a documentary coming out in the fall, right around my birthday about Superman. Um, I can't wait to see that. It's going to be on next. Um, James Gunn bought that. So, um, or helped, uh, that Warner Brothers, uh, purchase it. So I can't wait for that. Um, there's a show on Vice called Icons on Earth.
01:13:48
Speaker
um they're gonna have the whole entire story of spider-man the the story of Marvel versus Sony and how they ye made the deal and all that stuff and these are all also on YouTube okay because this is an ongoing series I believe yes and I've seen a couple episodes because they did yep they did a Batman one I believe I got the Marvel on YouTube. Yeah, Star Wars. I saw that too. I wanted to mention that. I'm glad you saw it too. But yeah, this is coming out on July 10th of next week. All about the Spider-Man acquisition, or not acquisition, but the deal they had with Marvel. So I can't wait to see that. I think it's like eight episodes, 10 episodes per season talking about how that worked. There's Batman, there's Bond, Star Wars, Star Trek, a whole bunch of cool stuff.
01:14:32
Speaker
Gonna do some deep diving into that. um Yesterday on July 4th, they released the one one of the first pictures of Anthony Mackey as Captain America from Captain America Brave New World coming out next year. um Everybody thinks that July 4th is Steve Rogers birthday. It's not. is July 4th is just America's birthday. Of course, steve Steve Rogers is the Mr. America, Captain America himself. um Everybody thinks that, but it's not true. um Black Panther, Eyes of Wakanda, will tie directly into the MCU. So this is gonna be kind of like a history story of Wakanda, the history of Wakanda. This was said on the mc the Marvel new marvel Marvel podcast, that's official Marvel podcast that was on this week. um But yeah, Black Panther, Eyes of Wakanda, can't wait to see that. um Deadpool and Wolverine has a post-credits scene.
01:15:32
Speaker
The big thing in the cameo that they're talking about is Robert Downey Jr. um How they tried to get it, but reportedly poorly he denied it. He didn't feel fill it fit the story. um We're going to see a lot of weird rumors. I'm going to try to stay away from them as much as I can for

Fantastic Four and Deadpool 3 Teasers

01:15:47
Speaker
the next three weeks. but I don't think we're goingnna see robert downey jr come back until c yes be honest on the guy who's playing galactis um don't remember his name is it on here i yeah that guy yeah ralph name of throne he's in episode of game of thrones and he's playing galactus in the fantastic four um he says he's really He calls the script really cool as fuck and hopes to play the villain for years. Galactus is a great character, I hope so too. I'm glad that it's going to be showing up on screen soon, so that's awesome. ah Speaking of Fantastic Four, we already see some posters up, but Comic-Con's promoting Comic-Con. We see brand new posters of the Fantastic Four.
01:16:29
Speaker
um Under it, saying the Future Foundation. Future Foundation in the comic books is a group created by Reed Richards that has other characters from the Marvel Comics, Spider-Man, Doctor Doom. ah It's another kind of spin-off to the Fantastic Four, another Future is what the Future Foundation is. but yeah We do see new mean new new pictures of Sue Storm, Ben Grimm, silhouette pictures, Reed Richards and Johnny Storm. So they're heavily promoting it a month, three weeks out, a month out when these came out. ah Fantastic for at haulage, so I cannot wait. I'm excited about that. um Ryan Reynolds shared a Deadpool Wolverine set picture, ah recing recreating the Evermore album by Taylor Swift, the cover for that, playing the song Evermore in the Instagram story as well. He is
01:17:22
Speaker
He is playing off the fandom of Deadpool, playing off the fandom of everything Taylor Swift did before this movie comes out. um If she is in this movie, the Swifties are going to go in and have a field day. But yeah, I just i can't wait for this movie. um It's on track to make $160 to $165 million dollars opening weekend. um If it does open to that level, it would be the best launch of 2024 and could be the best R-rated film ever in the history of movies. So um yeah, can't wait. We are three weeks away. So that is it for news. Next week, we got Acolyte Episode 7, The Boys Episode 7.
01:18:06
Speaker
Dragon episode 4 sausage party fruitopia comes out on Amazon Prime next week on the 11th I'm not sure if I'm gonna watch that or not. However, I'm going to be watching um the Marvels and Logan. We're gonna be talking about those two final movies before we get into the last week, the week after on the 21st when we record. um We're gonna be talking about Deadpool 1 and 2. We're gonna review those two movies at the end. Also that week, Cobra Kai comes out, part one. and We'll mention that for you. And Twisters comes out that week. um yep So yeah, we will talk to everybody next week and peace. Peace.
01:18:52
Speaker
And I'm not telling the truth I know, you know, they just don't have any truth It's the deception you learned how to bend You're worse than the visions that will psych you out in the end
