In this sort of bonus episode/session 0 type thing, we play a game called The Quiet Year, by Avery Alder, a world building tabletop game.  We got together in person, got really drunk, and built the world that our next game will be played in.  We get rowdy, there's lots of background noise, but it's funny and will give you insight into the new campaign.

Chaotic Beginnings: Bonus Episodes Announcement

00:00:19
Speaker
Hi everyone, so this episode and the next one or two episodes after it are gonna be a hot mess. Basically, this is consider these bonus episodes that set up our next campaign. You're free to skip them if you want.

World-Building Game: 'A Quiet Year' Play Session

00:00:38
Speaker
uh because i'll do a recap before we get into the campaign but basically we all got together in person um and played a game called a quiet year which is kind of this world building game it's really cool um you use a deck of cards and it asks you a bunch of questions and you create a world so we did that um we got very drunk in the process and
00:01:02
Speaker
Also, in this current episode, the first 20 minutes of it were recorded on a cell phone, and Jaden, for some reason, recorded it at the maximum possible quality, and it used up his entire cell phone storage in 20 minutes. So then there's gonna be a brief pause, and then we start recording on my laptop. Little did I think about, probably because of alcohol,
00:01:32
Speaker
I did a lot of typing on my laptop as well and all of that got picked up. So anyway, enjoy our drunken mess and learn the creation of the world for our new campaign.

Community Resources Discussion: Flint and Plastics

00:01:48
Speaker
resource for the community. Something we might have in either abundance or scarcity. Don't draw it right away. Some examples include clean drinking water, adequate shelter, fish, etc. Choosing a resource makes it important if it wasn't already. If you pick gasoline, it becomes something our community wants and needs. So have everyone name a resource before proceeding.
00:02:15
Speaker
Flint. I think this is probably why I need it. Flint in the ocean? No, we said, name a resource. It has to be named to cover it. Ah, that's a good point. You bring up an excellent point. This is a scarcity of... Should we each name a resource and a scarcity? No. We just determine what's scarce and stuff later. Do you name a resource? Oh, so we're just naming a resource, but we don't even know if it's abundance or scarcity, but we know that there's something important about it. It's important for some reason. So if Flint is your resource, for some reason we need Flint.
00:02:50
Speaker
people. 80 people crash landing on an unexplored planet. We only have a very small amount of resources to be had. Are you choosing Flint?
00:03:03
Speaker
Well, I was just saying he's in his example. Oh, okay. So what are you actually choosing though? Oh, I don't know. We are all choosing one. We all choose one. Oh, okay. Oh, like differently? Yes. Just say Flint. Yeah, just say Flint. It's kind of funny. It's like such a primitive technology. Yeah, like we have a scarcity of Flint.
00:03:25
Speaker
I will say plastics. Everything's made out of fluids. Plastics, okay. Because we're actually in the future, so plastics probably are more necessary for like 3D printing and stuff like that. And plus, to be fair, actually the first plastics were actually made out of vegetative fibers, so yeah, like rubber from the trees. I'm assuming we're following the same kind of path of 3D printing as the next step in
00:03:51
Speaker
Well, I feel like we could already print.

Planetary Environment Speculation: Twilight and Gravity

00:03:56
Speaker
Well, you know what? Because 3D printing, if everything goes the way we hope it'll go, 3D printing will get to a point where we're using atom by atom, atom by atom, atom printing. One of these days, we're going to get to a point where our 3D printing is going to be atom by atom. You know what I mean, Murph? I like how it's like atom by atom.
00:04:19
Speaker
Adam by Adam. If it's only Adam. Yeah, yeah, sweetness. And I'll let you know when Bill's been taking Adam by Adam. Have you guys ever read the Badaverse series? No. It's this Badaverse. Yes. Oh my god. Yeah, that's basically what it is. I listen to it at least once every two months. Just the whole seven or three books, plus the little extra shit. I'm willing to say Fresh Life, either. OK.
00:04:44
Speaker
Well, we have an ocean and that's fresh water. Well, yes. But they were mine. And plus also because they were, we have an ocean of fresh water. That's great. Are you going to, are you going to drink it fresh from the source? What's floating in that? If the plants are going to try to kill us, what is the water going to throw? Salt water doesn't carry a lot of pathogens because it's salt. But it's also salt water. Fresh water goes so many pathogens.
00:05:14
Speaker
Are we having? Is there a moon on this planet? That's the question. No, not on the planet.
00:05:36
Speaker
No moons Gravity honestly affects the tides which we rely on for all shit. I should put gravity as a reason
00:05:47
Speaker
Is it a big mass planet or a small mass planet? So how's the gravity? Is it a moon or is it a planetoid? Right. Is there one? Is there only one? Is there multiple?
00:05:59
Speaker
I'm just gonna say exotic planet, exoplanet. I thought I had like 10s. Is it not? No. Are we able to leave the planet with ours? Because we're crash landed, right? Yeah. We're gonna find that we have to survive at least a year here. Let's say before the ice herald shows

Survival Debate: Planetary Conditions and Resources

00:06:20
Speaker
up. But plastics can be easily used for clothing, for building material. We can just say rainfall, right? Is that a resource?
00:06:28
Speaker
Let's do fresh water. Yeah, what if what if the world is yeah This is the first one such like a cool temperature that it hardly gets the world hot enough to rain Yeah, but again, it's not a bad water by itself typically care. You know, I'm gonna put a lot of comes with finding Well, if we've got one of them one of the examples is adequate shelter. All we have right now is a crash I'm a skateboard
00:06:53
Speaker
Well, I mean, we each have a bed, per se. Well, forested swamp and carnivorous... So, forested swamp and carnivorous palm trees. We've got all that.
00:07:07
Speaker
There's shelter, sort of. Well, we're just naming resources at the moment. Yeah. So mine's plastics. So that's the thing. We're naming resources that are somehow important. It doesn't matter if there's a lot or a little of them. Mine was plastics. That's what I'm saying. Like how big is the plan? We're going to determine the lack or some of them are going to be.
00:07:31
Speaker
I'd like to go back to Jaden's point and ask how big is the planet or is it a moon of a planet? What do we want? I'm a fan of a moon. Yeah moon would be cool. Just imagine like we think that we're all up in it and then we look up in the sky.
00:07:53
Speaker
We're going around the planet the planet doesn't work that well Because we can introduce challenges that involve gravity like something else, but oh That's what I'm saying like what if it's like falling apart or something like you're walking then all of a sudden
00:08:15
Speaker
I like the idea that we're on a moon. Is that the DM's resource? What if the planet's so close to us? Who's chosen? Me, Frank, and Bill. Okay, so y'all need to come up next. I'm listening.
00:08:35
Speaker
What if the plane, since we're on a moon or something like that, the planet is so close to us that our world's constantly in like a twilight, like it's either dark or twilight zone, because like it's always reflecting off the planet. Yeah, what if like the planet is just perfectly surrounding the sun to a point to where it's kind of like the moon how it always faces us in a certain direction, so we're always reflecting
00:08:55
Speaker
Yeah, we're always like 90 degrees away, like from the opposite side of the planet. So it's like always our planetary rotation is at the exact same pace as our orbital, right? Okay, no matter where we are year round, it's always going to be sunny on this side and we've got the icy side.
00:09:15
Speaker
Seasons or no seasons. So it's kind of like crematorium. Well, there are days. That's part of it. Okay. Okay. Well, I don't know if there's season if there's season that just means we have a we if there's seasons that just means that we have an oblong access
00:09:30
Speaker
Yes, okay, so you know

Game Mechanics: Community Dynamics and Social Structure

00:09:33
Speaker
how the moon there's one face that faces us throughout the yes sentries So we could say that we're on a moon surrounding a planet of some kind The pole of our moon is actually towards the planet and it's a out of synchrony Oscillation so that the point that's closest to the planet is continuously moving across the
00:10:00
Speaker
so instead of going like this like the earth we're more going like like this where the oh yeah okay that'd be pretty cool so there's like there's like so it's like an uh now our upper and lower hemisphere thing whenever we're going through changes conditions they're going through super hot conditions
00:10:19
Speaker
Whenever we're super hot, they're colder. Yeah. Okay. But like, so there could be a gravity storm that occurs and it kind of moves across the earth. And another thing that's taken mind, and I think this is why gravity works, these resources can change if they're abundant or scarce through the course of the game also.
00:10:39
Speaker
So like gravity suddenly becomes scarce. Gravity suddenly becomes scarce. Maybe something happens. I just like the idea of gravity storms. Just all of a sudden you flow from low gravity over to high gravity. What if there's like rain storms?
00:10:56
Speaker
that are just mineral based from the gas giant that we're surrounding like it shoots almost like shit we're surrounding like solar flares but gas flares that like shoot like material at us that can either be dangerous or beneficial well i mean i would say it's because again it's something
00:11:17
Speaker
Right, so maybe sometimes there's methane and sometimes there's petroleum that get shot at us and like depending on what shot at us We could use it or not. I mean, there's there's a moon on Neptune that rains diamonds, right? Yeah, so
00:11:30
Speaker
You know, it's not necessarily weird that gases and other things from a nearby gas giant would instantly, when exposed to our pressure and atmosphere, would instantly become something else. Well, there's a gas giant.
00:11:48
Speaker
If this is like a world like it's actually flourishing what's getting pushed off by the gas giant is beneficial Yeah, have to be beneficial. Otherwise, like this would be a dying. Well, yeah, it's something that we want Well, if it's never his plants are they producing oxygen? We're only getting oxygen from this gas giant
00:12:08
Speaker
Well, actually, if there's carnivorous plants, the whole reason plants become carnivorous is that they don't have enough nitrogen, which comes from the breaking down of living things, not necessarily plant matter. So that means that this planet might, for a forest- We're not fully developing the full ecology of this plant. Well, we kind of have to. Yeah, we kind of have to. Do you think God just, well, just one may be like, ball, people, done.
00:12:34
Speaker
The planet alright, so so you crazy ideas, but what do we want to call the resource that the colony wants? Oh, oh, that's right. Which one ladies know my either. Yeah, mine we're going with the day plastic gravity water
00:12:51
Speaker
Yeah, what if we don't have daylight, like ever, just because of the side we landed on? Yeah, I was saying like, it's either like, extreme daylight, or like twilight, just because of how the- There's no nighttime. Yeah, there's no daytime now. There's no daytime now. Yeah. I will say this, like, there's no daytime cycle. Like, that would be a resource on your body, because like, your body is like, in complete shock, because you're not a darkness. You know how- It's like Alaska. Yeah, the less they're like the North Pole, where there's like sun- But if there's no- But he wants more sun. He wants constant sun. No, I think twilight would be dope. Okay, okay, okay.
00:13:21
Speaker
So like the the the sun is actually like on the very edge of horizons. If we do that though. So it's like constantly a sunset. Okay but what do we do? Is there going to be like sun in a 24 hour period? No sun. Half. So like it's like the sun's always on the horizon. If one exists the other also has to exist. I'll put light cycle? No light cycle. Because I mean... Day night cycle is only day twilight cycle. So just do day twilight cycle. No actual night?
00:13:50
Speaker
No, it's like a slightly lighter and a slightly darker around the planet to be fair I mean in 30 days of night what they don't tell you is at the other end of the year. There's
00:13:59
Speaker
yeah so it's like we don't know what the other side of the planet looks like if you go to the north pole there's literally keep in mind some of these resources make it like suddenly become more or less abundance so the planet i mean this works with our crazy orbit of a planet so what if it's like kind of like uh netunes where we're like what's your resource
00:14:23
Speaker
Because at the North and South Pole, it's like six months of daylight and six months of dark. What if it's just oxygen? Like, depending on the gravity and depending on what is going on around us, like, we either have abundant oxygen or very, very low oxygen. Yeah. You don't like that? Because if we start a fire and there's an abundance of oxygen, we blow up the planet.
00:14:43
Speaker
Well, not like that crazy amount. To be fair, actually, he's actually correct. Wildfire is back just over in dinosaurs. There was so much oxygen that one little spark would light up an entire forest. I mean, that'd be cool.
00:14:57
Speaker
that'd be cool but we don't maybe it'll be like the hunger games i don't know the fourth quarter well what about be something like dirt yeah i was about to say what if it's like food yeah because i've named water we've got too crabby and plastic let's just say food we just say food okay we've got two abstract ones
00:15:15
Speaker
We don't know the actual cycle yet, so food and stuff can be cycle and that should come later. If there's plants and forests, more likely we've got some amount of animal life. Well, if they're carnivorous, that means that there has to be meat. There has to be something that they're eating. More likely, let me explain the next step. Early stage fish and legs. Drunk people. Because what's interesting is, all right, because I didn't read ahead. So now we choose one of these resources to be in abundance.
00:15:43
Speaker
The rest are scarce at the beginning of the game. Oh, fuck. Gravity! What if the gravity's really high? An abundance of gravity. Too much gravity? Maybe too little gravity. What if there's something else? Cause then like, you know, they watch girls and just be like, doo doo. Watch little gravity. Oh my god!
00:16:11
Speaker
too little gravity is also bad for you. So like it causes your muscles to deteriorate. Yeah. So like, but that's really difficult though. I don't know. How would you classify gravity?
00:16:27
Speaker
Will that be in two? Well like, let's say. It felt like the gravity storms would be too little gravity. It'd be one spot that could be too much. Let's say the gravity storms. If it was on the other side of the planet, it could be too much. If we wanted to make things simple, we'd have an abundance of fresh water. Yeah. Yeah. Or we could just say that, man. Because if we say fresh water is scarce, then that means that's probably salt water. That's true. Or maybe it's undrinkable fresh water. Or maybe it's just the level is just really low.
00:16:58
Speaker
No, I listen, that's all I do. So let's go with water.

Visual Representation of Resources: Map Symbols

00:17:03
Speaker
Yeah, abundance. All right, so.
00:17:07
Speaker
Whoever names that resource draws its abundance on the map in some sort of symbol. It's already there. No, you have to make a symbol to signify that it's abundant. Name the resource or add the feature. Just to show that it's abundant. How do you show it to like... Just come up with a symbol. With no words. You could even do plus or minus, you know.
00:17:37
Speaker
He's drawing a Zelda symbol. Why is your own sheet Hayden? The rest are in scarcity and the remaining players figure out how to draw a lack of these resources on the map. Remember common symbols are fine. And then we also keep track of it on here. I think we could do a map key over here for these abstract things or something.
00:18:05
Speaker
All right. I got no fucking... I'm still thinking about Zelda from earlier. I'm going to be lazy. Let's see. You put a Triforce inside of a Triforce inside of a Gravity? Yeah, we've got a lack of Gravity. So my symbol is what goes up, must not come down. Keeps going up. Should I put mine over too?
00:18:31
Speaker
Oh shit, so if you ever go on the mountains, because that's like where all the flames is apparently. That's super low gravity. Yeah, that's like super low. You're really good. So let's say we're the size of like our moon, but it has vegetation. But it's orbiting the flame super close. Everyone else needs to draw a symbol to signify their lack of resources. Frank is doing his abundance right now apparently.
00:18:59
Speaker
He's changing his abundance. Oh, no. He's keeping us in. But I also mark it down on the card, because we're not going to have any idea what those symbols mean the next time we look at this map. No, I got enough. Abundance of water. Okay. Hayden needs an abundance of, or a lack of mountains of darkness.

Community Planning: Roles and Infrastructure Projects

00:19:29
Speaker
I'm drawing that one so it's bright just draw like a so that means Frank is the one that we're at abundance of that means Frank's resource was plastic. We have an abundance of plastic. Oh, you're right Frank was
00:19:45
Speaker
I was water. So we have a shitload of plastic, y'all. We're on it. It's still a shitload of water, but if you want to decide something different for the water thing, we can just call that. We can just say that's plastic now. Yeah, we can just say the Zelda symbol's plastic and that's excess water. It's so much plastic. It's because Zelda shields are made out of plastic. Use so much plastic, let's burn it.
00:20:08
Speaker
Our whole ship was made out of plastic. We precise and loaded. What am I doing again? You are drawing a lack of the days of the night cycle. What if it was like a sun with the moon on top of it? So a lack of sanity. For real. A sunset. I mean, those areas I get that have a higher rate of insanity. I'm not allowed to write anything. No. So Bill, now you do an icon for the lack of water. They're firmly in some sort of order. Lack of water?
00:20:38
Speaker
Oh, so we're doing that. Abundance of water. I mean, I already see these... Sorry, abundance of water. I already see these squiggle lines here. You can just go with that and call it a triforce itself. Plastic water. Plastic water and day night. Okay, and then, Jayden, you need to draw a lack of food. No. Just an empty cook lot. I'm gonna draw a steak. Draw a chicken. A very, a very thin chicken. Very black chicken.
00:21:07
Speaker
No steak because all the plants ate it. Okay That's all right chapter three play Pass the book around the table. Okay, I don't need to pass it You know pass that shit my man Once we finish the chapter, it's time to play what?
00:21:54
Speaker
I am so confused.
00:22:00
Speaker
the the
00:22:11
Speaker
Destroy your resource. You get to pick the resource. No one else can tell you how to rise unless it says Okay, so controlling a body here and we're determined each one So you play a card Each person is controlling 80 people you play a card if there's any projects happening you reduce the project dice and then you take an action which I guess are these things
00:22:38
Speaker
play a card, there's been to two cards, so this small moon happens to be a 52-week year. Most cards have two options to choose from, with an ore divider in between them, because you actually find the most interesting. Many cards have bold text, which indicates the specific rules to follow. They don't affect other days of the week. Whenever it makes sense for a situation, add new drawings and symbols to the map.
00:23:04
Speaker
Adjust the dice, we reduce project dice. Okay. What's that supposed to be? Food? Stink. Yeah. Why is there an arrow pointing at it? Unless specifically told otherwise, then I'd say you reduce the dice on the map. It's left me. So if a project dice was put on the board just a moment ago, as a result of the card, it doesn't go fine. A completed project is usually successful. Okay, so then your three actions are discover something new,
00:23:34
Speaker
You can introduce a new situation. It might be a problem or an opportunity or a bit of both. Draw a situation on the map. Drawing should be small and simple. And this is the part where the cell phone ran out of space. And so then we hook it up to my laptop and continue recording. So here it goes. Really? It was like 15 minutes from my house.
00:23:59
Speaker
The tiny, tiny, tiny wooden railroad coaster. Oh yeah. And it goes super fast and you feel like you're going to fall. Alright, it seems to be picking us up, so we'll see how that works out. You know, you could do the catfish or buckwheels when you couldn't pick up catfish. Yeah, that's a nice model. Okay. You can just... Yeah, you can throw the balls in there.
00:24:20
Speaker
if you like just like throw it back all right let me get back to explaining the game so you can discover something new you can hold a discussion um so you can choose to open with a question or a statement starting from you going clockwise each player gets to weigh in once with a single statement of one two sentences if you're opened with a question you get to weigh in last if you open with a statement that's it for you
00:24:48
Speaker
I like cheese.

Game Discussions: Debates on Resource Management

00:24:50
Speaker
So for example, a question could be like, how are we going to find food in this new world? But a statement, or you could do a statement like, I want to find food. Yeah, that would work. It's a statement. It is. Your face is different. And then each discussion is tied to a situation on the map. Mark the situation with a small dot.
00:25:16
Speaker
Start a project. The last of the three actions is to start a project. You choose a situation and declare what the community will do to resolve it. There's no agreeing or disagreeing. The community simply begins to work. And then you decide how long it should take from one to six. Okay, we're supposed to do six on ice. If a project will reasonably take longer than six weeks, it will need to be completed in stages.
00:25:59
Speaker
E6 as you said, you're D6. So here's the example. So example situations. Uh, there's a dried up whale at the edge of town. Mangy wolves have been slinking around in the woods at night. A self declared profit arise.
00:26:18
Speaker
The cards will create situations. What's a d6 one? It's a square one, right? We'll need more d6s for you. I think I might have to help. It's said to start with 6. Each of us has one. Okay, cool. That's fine. This is like... And I've got a 6th one right here. Iron 6. No, you need to go... What was that place called? Edward?
00:26:46
Speaker
All right guys Guys, yes, yes, sir. Ron also just said cut So he said that you're right. So what whoa All right
00:27:13
Speaker
I'm gonna do this now and take a contempt token
00:27:22
Speaker
Contempt tokens. If you ever feel like you are consulted or honored in the decision-making process, you can take a piece of contempt and place it in front of you. This is how we express disagreement or tension. If someone makes a statement, obviously this should be funny contempt, not real contempt, hopefully. If they make a statement you don't agree with, you don't get to speak out of turn, you take a token. You just cite
00:27:56
Speaker
And then abundance and scarcity. At the start of the game, you'll have one resource in abundance and at least that many in scarcity. These lists are guides for interpreting the health of the community. You can add or subtract things from this list whenever it feels appropriate. All right, so basically the first thing we do
00:28:20
Speaker
is draw a card, sometimes faction arise, we're not playing underground, and the game ends when the shepherds, no, no, no, you don't all take a card. Oh, well you said draw a card. Who knows? This is just talking about examples, examples. I'd rather stay for today also, that's why we're not playing, you know? Okay, who wants to go first? Not it. You should go since you read this. Nose goes!
00:28:51
Speaker
Eight of hearts. So an old piece of machinery is discovered broken, but perhaps repairable. What is it from the planet? Yes. What is it? What would it be useful for? Do we know? Or an old piece, an old piece of machinery is discovered cursed and dangerous.
00:29:12
Speaker
How does the community destroy it? Oh, what happened? So it's either we find something that's broken by repairable or we find something cursed. How do we destroy it? Should we just find a star date? No, no, no. You can roll on the D6 positive for good. Oh, okay. So this is the thing where I decide because it's my turn. And then the 80 of us or the council of us decides what we do.
00:29:38
Speaker
possibly, depending on what action I take. So I think the piece of machinery we found is a, it's a broken down, but human looking plastics refinery. So beneficial. But it's broken. It's going to look like a house. What does plastic look like?
00:30:06
Speaker
Plastic looks like this. It looks like a lopsided house. You've got to draw the plastics. The triforce symbol. The triforce inside, the triforce inside. It's a D12, 20. I'm just going to draw this simpler triforce. Plastic looks like my old one. No, it's supposed to be this guy. But I can't draw on three dimensions very well. I can't draw on any dimensions. I can't draw a tetrahedron.
00:30:35
Speaker
And then I'm supposed to take an action discover something new hold a discussion or start a project I'm gonna take the discussion of start a project to Get the plastics refinery back up and running. Okay, how many weeks do we think that'll take 12? It's the first thing we discovered on this planet, huh? It's the first thing we've discovered. Yes
00:31:04
Speaker
all of the weeks. It won't take all of the weeks. Don't you roll a d6 to determine how many weeks? No, you decide. Oh, I thought that was a d6. Let's do the roll. I like the roll. Yeah. Come on guys.
00:31:22
Speaker
Joe didn't flip the damn switch again. God damn it. There's 80 of us. We're all well fed. We haven't started to succumb to lack of water, or food, or gotten tired of each other yet. Or we found a plastic refinery. Which is good, because we have an abundance of plastic. For our 3D printer. So we have a clean of hearts. What is the most beautiful thing in the area? What is the most hideous thing in the area?
00:31:52
Speaker
Waterfall and like we don't get that do it We have to Most beautiful Mercedes your mom
00:32:14
Speaker
I don't know if I get my mom wrong or not. Oh, you get to choose one or the other? Yeah, I'm just trying to think which one would be more interesting. But I don't think it really matters. It's just the way the sunset looks if it goes across the horizon. The lopsided sun instead of the twilight thing. That once a week chicken reign, that where it rains whole rotisserie chickens from the sky.
00:32:51
Speaker
It just rains chickens and they happen to land in the frying oil. They fry themselves. It could de-rape the rain oil. Right. It could rain chickens, but it could de-rape the rain oil. Why not? What if there's a tornado nearby and there's just a whole chicken? That's not how... Infinite Multiverse suggests that there's a place that only rains chickens. Yes, okay. No, I'm just trying to think of a way to explain why. Why would?
00:33:21
Speaker
So I was actually going with the whole, um, most beautiful thing in the area is the perpetual sunset. Um, but that's just because like the, the gas giant that we're orbiting is giving off all of those. What if it's like a constant eclipse? Yeah. Just like, but like it's all like, because it's always throwing dust at us or whatever that it's really like messing with the atmosphere. It makes it like super colorful. Yeah.
00:33:48
Speaker
Like the colors are just extremely vibrant. Like the, um, the aurora borealis. Yeah, constantly, but like from all over. It's fucking rainbow aurora borealis. Yeah, yeah. It's all the time. It's played with gravity all the time, isn't it? Well, no. The aurora borealis. Like the fracture. Like the fracture around the magnetic fields of the upper ends here. So,

Faction Dynamics and Narrative Development

00:34:10
Speaker
yeah.
00:34:10
Speaker
actually if we're on i i waiting that we would be we would see it yeah i was going to say that my most beautiful thing is our warriors just like and what's going on what's the most hideous though no i just choose maybe the water is like around kevin is a miri my god if you need to face kevin god damn it and then you have to draw something i'm just something
00:34:39
Speaker
Whatever works for you. Or around a specific corner, you want your aurora borealis. Whatever you noticed that that was in the speech was like, that's where all the teenagers are shaking. Way too fast. Could you imagine the aurora borealis? Just giant sperms. Roll it and float in the air. All right, so now you get to decide if you want to discover something new, hold a discussion, or start a project.
00:35:08
Speaker
What sort of project would be very interesting for that one? It doesn't have to be based on that specific thing. Oh, we can start a project that it doesn't have to do with what we drew on the case. You can start a project for anything. In the podcast they listen to, they started a project for naming their books. And the name that was eventually settled on was the Biggest Baby.
00:35:57
Speaker
You choose a situation, declare what the community will do to resolve it. There's no disagreeing or agreeing, you just start the work.
00:36:06
Speaker
Well, we do have some situations, you can call them situations. We've got carnivorous plants, we've got lack of some resources, etc. So, yeah, you choose something that is existing in the lore right now. I said a fan over here, it is blowing that way. See, it's pointing right at me. Probably discover something new. Okay, what are you discovering?
00:36:36
Speaker
You can discover, introduce a new situation. It might be a problem or an opportunity or a bit of both. And then draw that on the map. It could be a problem, an opportunity, or a bit of both. Discover it on the map. Or draw it on the map. One thing that they discovered me.
00:37:04
Speaker
I'm so glad that was caught on the recording. No, I mean like turn that direction, do that same fucking like... I think they discovered new and the thing I was into was blink sharks. Sharks that can teleport. That would be horrifying. It's in my nose. Sharks in his nose.
00:37:32
Speaker
That's how you get shit like Sharka Bliss. Sharka Bliss. That's good of you. Velocipaster. Y'all ever watched? Velocipaster. What's the one about the tire? The whole movie is about the tire that was head sold. Oh yeah, where the tire is a murderer. Rubber? Yeah. Yeah. That was so bad.
00:37:51
Speaker
I loved it. It was a serial killer tire. So it's not a Death Star or a waterfall, but it's a soul. It's the planet Flair's. Flair's. Planet Flair's. Of the gasses. Planet Gassy. It's a party. Is there a project? That is a discover something new. Oh, so. Oh shit. The planet. Gas giant vents towards us or we vent towards the gas giant.
00:38:34
Speaker
What did you just discover? I discovered the planetary flares and
00:38:45
Speaker
discovered planetary flares. Okay. Basically fatter. I'm just talking about we just discovered a new species of spiders with waves.

Resource Strategy: Risks and Storage Solutions

00:39:01
Speaker
Never just imagine the customers. It's like you thought was callbacks were bad for flying. Just to start discovered giant cockroach. Let's hear what Frank Frank Scott
00:39:15
Speaker
What important and basic tools does the community lack? Or where are you storing your food? Why is this a risky place to store things? We're not allowed to comment, right? So the spring season asks a lot of questions to set the foundation of things and then you start having more events in the future seasons. So we store things
00:39:44
Speaker
as we sort of flew under the ship. We tunneled and burrowed under the ship and created a cellar. The reason why this is risky is that the man eating ponytail pongs have shot their roots through the sides of the cellar and started creating their little monster heads in there and they started to chew around.
00:40:20
Speaker
Now you take, now you take an action, you discover something new, hold a discussion, or start a project. We need to talk about it. We need to adjust the dice though, right? We fix... Oh yes, plastic factory is done because nothing stopped it. We have plastics! So, so in that case we can change plastics to an abundance now.
00:40:50
Speaker
And also you need to draw the food seller situation.
00:41:08
Speaker
Okay. I feel like an 80 people focusing most of their attention towards that. I feel like that could be doable. Well, we're gonna have multiple things. Yeah. And we're not building things up to code. We're building things as we can. What do you mean? I was the one OSHA person on this. He took 12 hours of OSHA. The one thing we can guarantee is that everything's gonna be built up to earth and code. I literally have my OSHA card on. Oh my god.
00:41:35
Speaker
Get that shit out of here. Alright, that's the stairs, and those are the little monsters. Two of our monsters. Herman Munster? Oh, here it is. It's covered up. Alright, I got D20 card D10. Yeah, I agree with the D10. I violated all their lists so hard the other day. Yeah, D6 doesn't seem long enough. I got up on a ladder. I got an up on an A-frame ladder that I gave, like, set out.
00:41:56
Speaker
I drop the demons up against the house, wander about the house, step on their stucco wall, and start eating this whole hole there. What are you doing, D10? I've got him right here. Oh, he's freaking out at the washroom. The last thing is done, because we're all out. It's like there's a dozen dozen there. Let's do my OSHA card. Let's do D6, right? Yes, this is nice. Cool. 10 hours. So what? I've got him right here. These are the project cards. Are you starting a project? Oh, um... And then why are you starting?
00:42:28
Speaker
We could hold the discussion about what to do with our plastic. I mean you can what do we do with the plastic? We have so much. I have this alien plastic facility. What do we do with the contempt?
00:42:54
Speaker
I mean, I've done nothing! Really? The giant inner joke is just people who start giving contempt tokens to other people. It's like, you haven't included him in a lot of them. The contempt token's not actually... He looks lonely. This is disappointing. They don't actually do anything. Oh, so you don't even need to address them? Jayden. I don't know what happened later on. Okay. Well then... What the... If you call me then... If you call me then then I'll... Mine! Then I'll mention my... There's just two more pennies.
00:43:24
Speaker
If you call me then, then I'll mention my two points of contempt. I just need to confirm it with you. I played a card, we've adjusted the dice, and then we take an action. Why do I get so many things? Because they're holding down the paper. Oh, that's what's happening. Your contempt is way down. Mine is not weights. Mine is your age. If you have something new, we hold a discussion or start a project.
00:43:53
Speaker
So what is holding discussion? We talk about it. We talk about it. What? Shit. Whatever you want to talk about. Start a project. How's the weather today? All right. Start a project. We need more babies. We're going to start a project. Fuck. America. I don't have a day. We're going to start a project today. Here. Six. S6, 12, 16 weeks. That's nine. Six weeks. Six weeks. All right.
00:44:23
Speaker
So we're trying to reinforce the underground food storage area to keep the monster... Wait, does that have to be on the same thing? No, it can be on anything it can be. Oh, okay. Well, fuck. I just happen to choose the plastic factory because it makes sense. So we know when we were going to Crashland that there seemed to be
00:44:53
Speaker
a large portion of resource over here on this island. It was gravity.
00:45:10
Speaker
What if it's just cows that can't move? We saw over on this island that there was abundance of what looked like foodstuffs, be it berry or animal life. The pig tree. And we are trying to create a land bridge or... Body bridge. That will get us across the water source. Okay. The environments do do that. These packs. That's the project too. I saw a game today of like two or three colony size that was like...
00:45:40
Speaker
Besides their whole pool basically just covered in ants. But their whole backyard is flooded. Imagine. Imagine one of those touching you and then all of them touching you. And then all of a sudden they all just kind of connect or crawl. Here's an island. Here you go. Here's an island that we can crawl. We have to kill the island first. It's a guy working on this ramp.

Impactful Decisions: Laws and Customs in Fictional World

00:46:01
Speaker
Okay. And is that the project? Yeah. Okay. I'm making a bridge. James turn right? We're attempting to do either of them.
00:46:08
Speaker
We don't either make a bridge or raft. And Frank followed your stuff. He didn't even address my points of contempt. I didn't know you had points of contempt. I asked you what those are for. Ace of hearts, what group has the highest status in the community? Oh, now you get to make some factions. What's the second question? What do people do to gain inclusion into this group? Or are there distinct family units in the community? If so,
00:46:38
Speaker
I like the families because if they're genetically modified, what if they genetically modified people? No, they're test two people. No, no, no, no. They were chosen based on their genes to produce. They're not test two babies. It's just they want a genetic library. It's a eugenics project. I'm going to take a point and content because I have to go to the bathroom and I'm not going to include in this. Okay. I'm just going to take one because I'm mad at all y'all.
00:47:13
Speaker
But he gets he gets to make up the answer to this question. Yeah. High status. Let's say that like their blood is black because they're able to basically produce. So they're the 100. Okay. Yes, exactly. Small break. All right. Well, it means password.
00:47:37
Speaker
What do you use? It's four numbers. I'm gonna say it's gonna be four three five six. Holy shit. I'm gonna try it one time. Y'all are gonna lock him out of his spot. All right. All right. So what's like the one hundred serious listening serious listening. Hi Siri. Fuck off Siri. Hey, what's your favorite Bible verse?
00:48:05
Speaker
Don't worry about it. All right, let's Yeah, that's two numbers twice. All right. Well, I'm gonna go against the rules and go with discussion on this matter. Well, hold on. What's your... You don't do discussion yet. Right now you are determining what the answer to the question was. What group has the highest status? Yes. Let's just say the founding family.
00:48:27
Speaker
We can determine that there is. There's a family that created the business. But it's like, what should we call it? Like cums? Remember, this is a game we're going to play later. Yeah, we have to realize that this is going to be something we're going to be playing.
00:49:05
Speaker
but let's say that all the people that are here other than us because we're delinquents that well we're we're not here we're the community okay okay you are 80 people right now okay i'm 80 people let's say all these people were the richest people of the of the earth it would be no it would be no they're all shitty people it 100 if they're all the richest again
00:49:17
Speaker
the founding family who started this project.

Leadership and Hierarchy: Social Structures Examined

00:49:30
Speaker
You're creating a faction within the community that high status so let's say there's 20 20 20 20 There's 20 people of the the highest Sanction people care on me Hey
00:50:06
Speaker
What's up, hey fiance, how you doing? Are you sure? All right, I love you good night All right I know she's like I played later like well obviously
00:50:27
Speaker
So you don't need to go into all the super detail just that there's a founding family All right for the sport factions of the place that we're at right now. Okay, and there's a founding family So there's the engineers the family. Well, remember your question is who's got the highest status? It doesn't matter how many other facts. Okay, the highest family
00:50:49
Speaker
Okay, that's 20 and then there's another part to that What must people do to gain inclusion into this group they can't marry Mary fuck or die Mary fuck or kill yeah
00:51:13
Speaker
The oldest family member, and then you basically take your spot. There's only going to be 20. Or you marry into the family. So within the family, it's like gain of throne. Exactly. Yeah. OK, that's good. OK. Now he gets to do the rest of his turn when he gets back. That's good. Yeah. I like it. That'll make for a good.
00:51:38
Speaker
thing if we do turn this into a game later. We could like just keep reusing this and just like throw in different. Day one, game one, we're going to burn down the ship with the 20 people inside. Of course. Like this is going to become Animal Farm and I don't turn brown. Like all the people wake up and be like, there are people over there. Where are the cards that everyone has pulled?
00:52:09
Speaker
That's fine. That'll work. As long as we don't shuffle the deck, that'll work. What happens if our turn ends and our points of contempt aren't addressed? Did they just go back? Apparently the contempt means nothing. It's just a show that you have contempt. What are the points of contempt that I understand? They don't mean anything. They literally are nothing. Even if you feel offended, you pull a penny and that's what your rewards are being offended? I guess.
00:52:36
Speaker
Just to add funniness to it. If you're going to see the goats, I think it's going to go take a drag. Okay, okay, okay. So now you need to do your action, which is discover something new, start a discussion, or start a project. You can open, like, one of the windows. I can listen to it more or something. I doubt that you'll be able to hear that. That'd be long distance. Long distance. That'd be rough. That'd be rough. There's no food. No word. I'll stick my hand inside, though.
00:53:05
Speaker
I can't get to the doggy door, there's stuff in the way. I mean, if you're going to do a discussion, we'll wait on Frank. If you're going to do one of the other things, you don't need them, because you decide. Wait, what was your question? No, it's still your turn. Now you have to do one of your three. You have to either discover something or pull the discussion or start a project.

Creative Dialogue: Player Interactions and Influence

00:53:28
Speaker
We'll do a project on
00:53:32
Speaker
Infatrating the the family. All right. Oh, it's an S. It's a yes an undercover life I'll get one in a minute. I still have one Yeah, I'm killing Why you almost died or kind of you kind of swaying around there you could yeah, I got you. Oh boy Bro, no, bro. Jima much
00:54:00
Speaker
How did G-Pods sway? You have to move your body. I don't know what the G-Pods is. Gary's mod. It's a game on Steam that was out from 2009. Yeah, it was like the first game in the first Unreal Engine house. You know how Half-Life?
00:54:21
Speaker
Yes. It's based off of the same code and everything, so some of it has the same characters and everything, but basically it's a sandbox game of that. I feel like I've heard of this. Okay. Who is this? Is this a girl that you like? This is Gwendolyn. Do you like her? Is she like you? Yeah. Okay. This is the girl that went to the barbie to cookout with. Okay, okay, okay.
00:54:48
Speaker
Is, so, are the blue parts you? Yeah, the blue parts aren't me. Okay. Frank said, I'm going to make beautiful babies. Did he say who it is? Oh. Did he say the two of you would make beautiful babies? But probably. Probably.
00:55:09
Speaker
You're just going to do it asexually. You're just going to do it asexually. You're a fan of cloning. That wasn't a question because it isn't a period so it's just a statement. You're just going to do it asexually. You're a fan of cloning.
00:55:24
Speaker
Sexy Hayden clone. Hard breathing, sweat drop face. Hard breathing, sweat drop face. Hard breathing, sweat drop face. Sexy Hayden clone. The clone joke is because I've joked about fucking myself by the clone. I would. I did. I would. I did. I'll make a beautiful baby inside you. Oh my god!
00:55:49
Speaker
Wait. Does it get to be part of me? Or is this a total mini-hater now I'm just a growing machine. It might be a little me or a little you. Or a good mix. This is not me suggesting me having like a macaroni. Weeee. Mmmmmm. Yes.
00:56:15
Speaker
No, I didn't. Double no. Double no. Double rainbow. What does it mean? I'm sorry, I gave her a super obnoxious and annoying voice. Like that one lady you met at the grocery store and she made that really annoying voice because she sounded really obnoxious. Oh, the Karen, yeah. Yeah, Karen, yeah.
00:56:42
Speaker
I don't know what among this is text message and what among this is Bill. All of that is text message. It's just me doing a voiceover. Basically this woman wants babies with Hayden, but wants it to be a clone. Now that you put it like that, that sounds really fucked.
00:57:08
Speaker
her inside of her home and then you know the inside of her inside of her oh my god Rick and Morgan so many goddamn me this is like from Mordecai and Rigby meets this meets my little pony wait so I've made a promise to a

Environmental Obstacles: Tactical Planning for Survival

00:57:38
Speaker
There's a large body of water on the map. Yeah, there is. What does it look like? It's blue. Or there's a giant man-made structure on the map. Where is it? And why is it abandoned? Oh, well, there's two of those that we've already discussed. Yeah, but we know one of them. Where's the second one? You created a new one. He said there's two that we discussed. There's one here.
00:58:05
Speaker
Aztec temple. I'm thinking giant. But modern. No, it's just where there's a giant man-made structure. Where is it and why is it abandoned? Not what it is. A fucking star game. Bro. Yeah, that'd be pretty cool. But why a star game? Because it teleports you to a desolate planet. You just suffocate at it immediately. No, as soon as you turn it on, the portal continues to rotate. It becomes a black hole.
00:58:35
Speaker
You don't remember the episode of Star Game where like they, they, there was a- Nope. And it, that would like teleport? Yes. Yeah. I remember that from the episode of The Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible. I like Horrible.
00:59:15
Speaker
There's an abundance of food and water now because we found the island of pig trees, okay We've gotten there yet. Oh, we've got nine more weeks Okay, there is a
00:59:37
Speaker
There is your mom Yeah, that's for that project which was on six, okay, is it so is it on something else? It was online. So now it's on a
01:00:04
Speaker
Okay, there it is. It's my project, so I'm going to use mine. Okay. I just assumed we'd use my dice so that we don't get confused by. Yeah, I'm going to be using this to mark mine, going forward. So every turn is a different week? No, the plastic definitely is done. That only took one week. So this is the fourth week. Yes. Yeah. We apparently don't have any bookmakers.
01:00:29
Speaker
No bookmakers. Code literacy. Okay everyone. We're idiots. We all won the genetic lottery. I imagined that we would do it. Idiocracy. Idiocracy of space. I imagined we would do it with such kind of planetary. This is all of our books. This is all of our books. Alright, Bill. Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay
01:00:57
Speaker
Rondo's got electrolytes back. We don't have any rondo! We can't form the plants! And it doesn't have electrolytes, but plants crave. They all die. So... Where's the fart movie? So, what's the minions? So, we sent some people out into what we thought was the woods to build a boat factory. A boat factory? We have a boat factory right here.
01:01:27
Speaker
No, we sent them into the woods to build their boat factory right here, because this was into the woods. We didn't know. But the water's here. But Bill, how does that answer the question? What? Wait. There is a giant man-made structure on the map. Boat factory. Where is it? There. Inside of this forest right here. Why is it abandoned? Because they didn't know that these were carnivorous trees. Okay. Oh, so it's abandoned during our time, not abandoned before? Yes.
01:01:57
Speaker
We lost ten people. So they tried to make a book factory inside of an abandoned structure. No, they built a structure that we discovered is now buried in the floor. So weaved a giant man-made structure. Giant man-made structure. Where is it? Here. Why is it abandoned? All the people working on it got eaten by trees. He doesn't say anything about it being previously abandoned. No. It just is there by some man. Oh. Yeah. It's abandoned.
01:02:25
Speaker
And bear pig right here. There's an image of a boat on the roof because they worshipped and built boats. And so now I'm going to start a project to use the plastic from the factory to put up walls so these plants stop eating our food. It takes three weeks for the plant food.
01:02:54
Speaker
Stop eating our food. Walls. Plastic pages. We've got plastic. Okay. My turn. Those hot rock strips. I mean, maybe this won't be a good game to play in, but we'll see. But it's been kind of fun. But now we've got seven weeks. Yeah, we need to see good luck now. We have something to do.
01:03:13
Speaker
So we have two weeks to fix the wall where the plants are eating our stuff. I thought you said it was three. It was, but now it's your turn. Oh yeah, there'll be two. Don't do it until I... Until it's my turn. You adjust it after I read my card, but my card might say to do something to the dice. So you adjust it after I've done my card.
01:03:41
Speaker
You see a good omen. What is it or you see a bad omen? What is it? We saw Look at look at any kind of media who's the most magical soothsayer that's ever soothe fine guys
01:04:08
Speaker
So, so we saw a, um, uh, the, the good omen was we saw a white rabbit going across, uh, the entrance going across the entrance to the, um, to the, to the food seller. And the person who saw this, uh,
01:04:35
Speaker
is always seeing omens, and everyone thinks he's crazy. It's the oldest guy. Is this an actual white rabbit, or is this the charity one? He says he saw a white rabbit cross the door to the food cellar, and that that's a good omen. I doubt it. So it's an actual herb. Yeah, because everyone's like, bro. That's what he says. There's no rabbits here. Yeah, there's no rabbits, bro.
01:05:08
Speaker
I thought that's where Ron was

Session Reflection: Narrative and Experience Review

01:05:10
Speaker
going to go with it. We're living free in the forest of carnivorous trees. I never said there was actually a rabbit. That's why carnivorous trees are meat for a meeting. I'm going to hold a discussion. We've already been doing that. Everyone needs to shut up while we do this and talk on your turn so we can do this. You can choose to either open with a question or a statement.
01:05:37
Speaker
I'm going to ask a question and then each person gets to do an answer. And then on my turn, I get to weigh in and make the decision based on the question, based on you guys' arguments. My question is,
01:05:58
Speaker
Do you think that... I'm... You think a lot of offenses, don't you? You know what? Fuck y'all! You know what? Alright, my question is, do y'all think that the plastics that we're using to protect our food is a good idea, or will it contaminate the food? Well, think about turbines. Hold on. Fog-wise.
01:06:28
Speaker
Your name's clockwise now? Yeah, clockwise. Hey, don't speak me to my brother. You get to do a one to two sentence answer. So it's a statement. So we've called forth the council and I'm concerned about plastics getting into our food. No. You can either make a question or- No, no, no. I've done the question now. You guys respond to my question. Oh, it makes sense. As people from
01:07:02
Speaker
I'm a concerned citizen of the community who's worried about this damn plastic hidden into our leader in the council. No, I'm a person asking a question. Whoever we- Oh shit, this dude is fucked. I know. The air on this planet makes you drunk. Wow, that's the problem.
01:07:24
Speaker
Hayden gets to be the first councilman, but what do you think about plastic? Councilman? That's his statement. Plastic good. Four scorns. No. Four scorns. I say we throw them into the carnivorous woods.
01:07:56
Speaker
I'm tired of struggling. So we make a statement. That's it? You're responding to my question as a member of the council. Not plastic. Is this a plastic gun? Is this a bad idea? There are other materials that might possibly work better than plastics. But we do have plastic in abundance. That being said, we do have our best researchers on research force.
