You know, ah and also for those wondering, why are we starting back up in April? A lot of stuff happened. I lost my voice in February and it was like gone all month. We then had to start the prep work for the podcast in March.
00:01:49
Speaker
So that way I could you know got get guests lined up and all of that stuff. So that's why we're starting in April. But it does kind of work out because ah we're celebrating um very soon.
00:02:00
Speaker
i don't know the exact date off the top of my head. um But we are celebrating five years of Tony's Game Lounge. um Because April of 2020 is when we started it five years ago.
00:02:12
Speaker
So this is my fifth year of doing content creation. So for those of you who have been here since the start, thank you very much for sticking around. And those who have come along the way, thanks for joining in.
00:02:23

We're in for a packed season and we have a packed episode because of all the stuff that happened in these past two

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Discussion

00:02:30
Speaker
weeks. But before we get into any of that, we get to do some hot takes, which is an intro segment that we have for returning guests.
00:02:38
Speaker
Breezy, what is your video game hot take? Hmm. My video game hot take. Honestly, this one, i don't know if it feels like a hot take, but i would say this goes was kind of recently, but I think Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the newest Pokemon games are actually probably top three in the entire series. If you actually play through it.
00:03:01
Speaker
I know a lot of people were questioning like playing through it because they saw like the performance issues and everything. But I played through that game. every like Every bit of it is amazing.
00:03:13
Speaker
I love the battle mechanics. um Especially you love it for like competitive battling because I think terrestrialization is like one of the best mechanics they ever made besides Mega Evolution.
00:03:25
Speaker
ah The story was really good. It definitely got really, really good towards the ending. I won't spoil it for anybody who hasn't played it yet, but there's like one part in it where you go into this one area and you're going to It's, uh... I mean, I feel like the game... How long Scarlet Violet been out now for? Like, how long has it have they been out now?
00:03:43
Speaker
It's gotta be, like, three? Is it three or four years? I think we're safe to spoil Scarlet and Violet now. like Like, I feel like the people who haven't played it will play it on...
00:03:54
Speaker
something we'll be talking about later and going into more details about because it's getting another version of itself that for said system. ah And that's the only reason that people who haven't played it yet ah have been waiting on it.

April Fool's Gaming Roundup

00:04:11
Speaker
But ah like no areas I'll start area zero is was absolutely the peak of Scarlet and Violet. Oh, absolutely. And the music, like the whole like the whole environment, everything.
00:04:24
Speaker
i was just like, wow, I never expected like all of this out of a Pokemon game of all things. yeah And then the DLC at the end of both DLCs and you get to wrap a ghost and everything.
00:04:37
Speaker
And then you go back to the, to, Oh God, what was the first DLC location? Kitakami. Kitakami. Yeah. And then you realize that it's because of that interaction that you're the reason the professor's dead. It's great. It's it's great. great it You created the paradox.
00:04:57
Speaker
Yeah. We created the paradox. It's all our fault. z Which is absolutely insane. I will say on that DLC though, um I was actually surprised because I thought, personally, I thought the DLC was going to be time travel because you know how the end of the base game the Yeah, the paradox Pokemon.
00:05:15
Speaker
Yeah, because I thought like it was going to be like two separate DLCs that like Scarlet, they were going to get the travel back in time and then Violet gets the travel to the future.
00:05:26
Speaker
i would that That would have been cool. but Hey, maybe with ah the Switch 2s upping the version of it, they'll be like, oh, hey, we're going to re release a new DLC for this as well. as like a oh Oh, okay.
00:05:44
Speaker
um but No, I don't think they will because I believe Pokemon also did say that Legend ZA is going to be the last game for Gen 9.
00:05:54
Speaker
so So they're moving on to Gen 10 after this. they are. I mean, it's been the right amount of years for the Gen 9...
00:06:05
Speaker
thoroughfare or whatever the word I'm looking for is there. So Gen 10 soon. but will be We'll probably hear about it next year on Pokemon Day, realistically.
00:06:16
Speaker
Yeah, ah looks like Pokemon is like they're kind of like going out with a bang for the rest of this year, too, because they got Pokemon champions coming out. That's the game I'm like probably do the most excited about.
00:06:28
Speaker
Yeah. That's going to be like battle revolution. It's the new battle revolution. It's the new stadium battle revolution ah type game because we're getting, we get access to our Pokemon home.
00:06:39
Speaker
We get and just the battle ah with the modern format. And they're good. I'm pretty sure they'll have all the mechanics. I mean, we saw a terrestrialization with Megas. I'm sure Z moves will probably be in there as well.
00:06:52
Speaker
ah Are we missing? and that's That's it. because that way but Wait, six, seven. Oh, Dynamax. They might have Dynamax too. don't know. I want to summon my Mega Charizard using a Terrestrialized Dynamax with a Z-Move.
00:07:15
Speaker
Destroy the competition, baby. It's just going to show a picture of just the earth just melting. i mean, yeah, that's that is that is realistically what would happen, ah especially if it was like, what what is the largest Pokemon?
00:07:32
Speaker
um I think in terms of length, I think it's still way lowered. so yeah okay then then let's that then the whale lord uh i hope that one day in the future you get a mega evolution because we know that you weren't confirmed to get a mega evolution in za i don't think whale lord and whalemar gonna even be in za unfortunately probably not but we can always hope right we can always hope one day on the new gen 3 remakes but But first, we got to go through Gen 5.
00:08:04
Speaker
Yeah, know Gen 5 is the next game that would get a remake. So here we are waiting. Here we are waiting. Exactly. All right. Let's move into our headline of the week because we've got so much to cover.
00:08:18
Speaker
ah And well i mean I would say so little time, but like. It'll take however long it needs to take.

Recent Game Releases and Features

00:08:24
Speaker
But our headline of the week, it was April Fool's Day. Well, we passed April Fool's Day. So obviously, we got to do our April Fool's Gaming Roundup.
00:08:34
Speaker
Here is a good chunk of some of the better pranks or April Fool's Day gags that were pulled on all of us ah back on April 1st. And starting off Twitch, well, they made all of the chat comic sans.
00:08:49
Speaker
All of the chats. Yeah. it was great It was great. I woke up and i'm like I typed something and I'm like, why does this look different? Oh my god, everything is Comic Sans. That was great. Now there was a feature a function where you could turn it on or off um so it wasn't ah permanent for the day. You didn't want to look at Comic Sans all day, but...
00:09:09
Speaker
ah that was a nice a nice little touch. Aether Studios and Off-Brand Games did drop a free game ah called Dreams of Aether. It's still available now. just gotta pay for it.
00:09:21
Speaker
But it was free on April Fool's Day. This is a WarioWare micro-game-esque game. ask game I played it. I played through it all the entire It's short. It's only like five main levels of the story, and then you got endless modes after that. And...
00:09:38
Speaker
It was fun. It was pretty solid. I remember seeing a picture about it. I never like i never like saw gameplay of it, but I remember it just seeing a tweet about it randomly. I was like, huh, another Aether game?
00:09:52
Speaker
Yeah, it was a fun little Aether game. You know what? I enjoyed it. i could say can firmly say I enjoyed it a lot more than Rivals of Aether 2 because Rivals of Aether 2 was the only game that I refunded last year.
00:10:07
Speaker
Oh, really? Yeah, okay. So and it's ah the reason I did it, it's not because the game is bad or anything. The game isn't bad. It is because of the control scheme. Because they have...
00:10:20
Speaker
They're the norm that like to do like your smash attacks essentially is a separate button instead of just holding down your light button. Oh, is there like no like remapping? No, and no, you cannot remap the the two to the same button either.
00:10:36
Speaker
Oh, I tried literally everything. Now, I don't know if they've changed that now from when I first got it, but if they haven't changed it, it's the one it was the one thing that really fucking deterred me from that.
00:10:50
Speaker
I don't blame you. ah Minecraft's April Fool gag, because they do one every year, turned the game into Craft Mine, where you make, ah where you where you craft mines.
00:11:05
Speaker
Basically, the worlds in Minecraft are called mines, and so you're basically making various different randomly generated worlds by putting in different elements and then making the mines.
00:11:16
Speaker
It was a really funny little gag that they did. Dave the Diver developers tweeted out a Dave the Diver remastered with ah a 3D animation that they worked on, which is expected to release in 2049.
00:11:29
Speaker
ah We will be there, right? We will. I mean, I'll be if if they actually do this and it does release in 2049. Good job. good that I would I would I would laugh my way to the bank on that one.
00:11:40
Speaker
I would just be like, you know, I would just have to like give him like a ah real good laugh. If I just see like a tweet that just says like a deals, a deal on 20. You know what?
00:11:52
Speaker
You know what? i I would love that. I would love to see that. ah Razor unveiled the world's first intelligent brain rot translator headset, and they're calling it the Razor Skibbity.
00:12:05
Speaker
Oh, no. ah that That's what Razor teased for its gag gear for April Fool's Day. Hoyoverse teased that Zendless Zone Zero was coming to Xbox, except it's not's except it's not. Even though Genshin Impact was recently put on Xbox.
00:12:22
Speaker
ah this could they This could... It does open the gates of like ZZZ could be coming to Xbox soon, but it won't be happening anytime in the near future right now.
00:12:33
Speaker
um The official Twitter Nier unveiled an 8-bit version of Nier Automata, which was kind of cool of like what the game would have looked like in 8-bit. Party Animals announced and released a brand new board game within their game called Bluffalo Club, in which you need to bluff your way through card games with some potentially drastic consequences if you're caught lying. ah Basically, ah they put the... What was that game? Liar's Bar? Or...
00:13:03
Speaker
that That bluffing card game that ah is on Steam that ah where you're all the animals. They just put that within Party Animals, which is funny.
00:13:15
Speaker
Huh. Car game sounds kind of interesting, though. Helldivers 2 made all of their guns extremely oversized. Pokemon Go turned all of the Pokemon in the overworld into Pokeballs, so you wouldn't know what you're catching until you tap it, except all the Pokemon catchable were Voltorb, Electrode, Fungus, Amoongus, and any other Pokemon that looks like a Pokeball, or you would just collect an actual Pokeball.
00:13:42
Speaker
ah Classic Amoongus doing this. Yes, just classic Amoongus vibes. ah Overwatch released the limited game mode Normal Watch.
00:13:56
Speaker
um That's available. You can still play it until April 14th. It just changes the way a couple characters do. ah Characters operate. I believe it was like Hanzo can ride on Orisa's back. And by doing that, Orisa gets a speed buff.
00:14:11
Speaker
um Soldier 67 cannot see like anything or like health bars or like his own is it was like they gave a vision thing to that there was so many other things that they they did it as a joke.
00:14:26
Speaker
Yeah. Frag Punk turned into Frog Punk. So a bunch of frog related cards were given out all day. And they also added a frogs versus mosquitoes mode.
00:14:38
Speaker
And the New York Times connections game was all symbols and single letters. Hmm. So it was a solid array of yeah April Fool's gags that happened.
00:14:49
Speaker
I see that we're missing one in particular. Did I miss one? what Which one did I miss? oh The one in Marvel Rivals involving Venom. well What did they do to Venom? i actually I completely missed this. What did they do to Venom?
00:15:03
Speaker
They gave Venom a temporary twerking e-boat. ah And basically there were there was world peace on Marvel Rivals for about two weeks.
00:15:15
Speaker
Oh my God. yo Okay, that's great. I cannot believe I missed that. That is and the Venom would just literally do the emo in like the middle of points and everybody would just respect it and just fight around him instead. Yeah.
00:15:32
Speaker
Okay, let's go. Let's go. Twerk and Vena, let's go. ah But that that is your April Fool's Roundup and your Headline of the Week. ah Now to dive into what else happened in these past two weeks.
00:15:45
Speaker
It's time for us to look at the Week in Review. Recapping the major stories of video games and the world of tabletop, looking over recent releases and reports from the Game Lounge crew, it's the Week in Review.
00:15:58
Speaker
And starting off, some of the games that came out these past two weeks, you had Saga Frontier 2 Remastered, Atomfall, the first Berserker Kazan, Croc Legend of the Gobbos, which is a remaster of the first Croc game, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered for PC and other, and I think PS5 as well, and Enzoi, and also ah Haste, which is a fantastic game by Landfall Games, the developers of ClusterTruck,
00:16:28
Speaker
ah This new game that they made ah is absolutely incredible. Very movement heavy. ah Very speed runner friendly. If you're a speed runner, um like shit check out this game. If you are looking for something to play, haste might be the next game that you get absolutely addicted to.
00:16:48
Speaker
i need to look this one up.

Game Informer Revival

00:16:50
Speaker
As for the world of video game news, starting off, Game Informer is back from the dead. Yes. I can't believe it. As you recall, when GameStop shut down Game Informer um last year, and I was very sad about that because I used Game Informer articles all for, to you know, to gather some news.
00:17:12
Speaker
And also they have this really one amazing article where they list every single game releasing. um in throughout the year that gets announced. And that is what I use for our On Your Radar segment.
00:17:25
Speaker
And they got rid of it. Everything got shut down. But now they're back. All their old articles back up. everything um they were purchased as a brand and outlet by gunzilla games they now operate under an entity called game informer inc and all the staff are back all and everything um so welcome back game informer glad to see you back yes good to have them back It was sad when like they were gone because I was just like, I always used to look forward to getting these like magazines in the mail and like, dang, it's just kind of like ah like a piece of you just gone and then yeah now it's back and you're like, oh wait, never mind. We're all good now. We're all good. The world is ah a world is a little bit better again.
00:18:12
Speaker
z ah Matt Mercer has joined the cast of Date Everything and fittingly, he'll be voicing a D20.
00:18:23
Speaker
let's go get also ah also a part of the game as a I believe they just revealed this Laura Bailey will be joining as a laundry hamper Neil Newborn a starion from Baldur's Gate 3 is a clothing dryer and Troy Baker ah treadmill
00:18:40
Speaker
Troy Baker the name sounds so familiar uh Nathan no no not Nathan Drake um he was Nathan Drake's brother in uncharted. He was, he's Indiana Jones. Now he's a Troy Baker got the Indiana Jones role for the great circle.
00:18:57
Speaker
um i mean, Troy Baker's in every, Oh, Joel fucking Joel from last of us. Oh, okay. That, that does it there. Yeah. I'm like, geez, I'm like, what's his, what's like the biggest. Yeah. But he's done. He, I mean, again, ah Troy Baker, one of like the voice he's everywhere.
00:19:14
Speaker
he's He's everywhere. He's done a lot. In Fatal Fury City of the Wolves news, we've got two characters that are joining the cast as guest characters that nobody saw coming.
00:19:27
Speaker
ah First, Cristiano Ronaldo. The Ronaldo trailer was so crazy. It was so out of nowhere, but I just... I love that trailer.
00:19:38
Speaker
I never thought I'd see Ronaldo in a in a fighting game of all things. He is not voiced by Ronaldo, by the way. um Both these characters are not voiced by their actual human counterpart. ah But it's crazy to see Ronaldo...
00:19:53
Speaker
as himself in ah fighting a fighting game. It's and it in SNK's Fatal Fury. It's crazy to kind of see that.
00:20:04
Speaker
and The other one is Salvatore Ganacci. I believe that's how you pronounce it. He is a Bosnian-Swedish DJ who is also going to be a guest character in the game. And he will also be providing the game with some of his music.
00:20:18
Speaker
um So that's cool. um But yeah, no, did not see these coming. It's kind of kind of crazy, ah kind of crazy that City of the Wolves is like, oh, yeah. So for our guest characters, we're going to take real people and just put them the in there.
00:20:38
Speaker
And we're all just like, OK, with it, I guess. Yeah, I guess after they I guess after they saw multiverses do the same thing with LeBron, they were probably like, what if we just, you know, the Ronaldo?
00:20:52
Speaker
Yeah. And fun fact, Ronaldo is now the third like real athlete to be featured in a game like like as themself, because you have obviously LeBron James.
00:21:05
Speaker
You've got Ronaldo. And then obviously the first one was Shaquille O'Neal and Shaq Fu. Oh, true. Yes, you can. We could never forget about Shaq Fu. Amazing.
00:21:17
Speaker
PlayStation Plus new free games will be RoboCop Rogue City, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth Hacker's Memory.

Digimon and No Man's Sky Updates

00:21:26
Speaker
ah Those will be available on April 8th.
00:21:31
Speaker
Digimon sounds kind of interesting. It's an RPG, turn-based RPG. ah I'll be playing the first Cyber Sleuth game soon. ah We're just I just got to get through my Pokemon XG playthrough.
00:21:44
Speaker
And then we got Chef Tony weeks coming up as well, where I will be donning the chef jacket and playing some cooking games again. um let's go. So and then I'll be on my Digimon era. So I'll be talking about Digimon nonstop ah later on this year.
00:22:02
Speaker
So look forward to that. ah No Man's Sky Relics update released. This allows players to dig for fossils and big ass giant bones ah that you can find while terraforming or if you want to just go digging to find these to figure out what kind of animals existed in the past on planets.
00:22:19
Speaker
It's really cool. You can now do that. yeah I'm glad No Man's Sky keeps getting like, you know, constant updates because I remember when the game first, you know, when the game was yeah announced, it was absolutely garbage.
00:22:33
Speaker
And now it is one of like it became like a really beloved game that is getting constant support. And they are working on a new game now as well, which I can't remember what it's called, but they are working on something new.
00:22:45
Speaker
ah System Shock 2 is celebrating 25 years and an anniversary edition of the game will be launching June 26th for PC and console. Mojang announced a brand new mob coming to Minecraft during their Minecraft Direct, the Happy Gast.
00:23:02
Speaker
This is a rideable mount um when rescued from the nether and hydrated. And also they announced the Vibrant Visuals update, will which will be the next major update for Minecraft coming soon. I don't remember the exact date that they gave it. i don't know if they even did give an exact date.
00:23:20
Speaker
I love the happy gas that I don't know what it is about It's just the whole like lore around it. Just it. It just like makes you like so happy to bring him bring him back. Happy. the gas Makes you happy.
00:23:35
Speaker
He really does. He really does. ah Screenshots have seemingly leaked of the of a new Star Wars game from the team of former XCOM developers. Spoiler alert, it looks like a Star Wars XCOM game.
00:23:48
Speaker
Who would have thought? it's It looks like it's set to star Bo-Katan and Ahsoka Tano. Ooh. This might be something. We might be something. We'll only have to wait and see. It's only so like screenshots that were leaked.
00:24:04
Speaker
um But yeah, that's interesting. um The modder who added seamless co-op to Elden Ring and Dark Souls 3 is now doing the same with Dark Souls Remastered.
00:24:15
Speaker
And they say that it's almost done. And should be released soon.
00:24:21
Speaker
Hazelight Studios' latest hit, Split Fiction, broke three Guinness World Records. The most played local co-op video game on Steam, the most sold local co-op video game within 48 hours of release, and the most sold local co-op video game within one week of release. So congratulations to Hazelight Studios and Joseph Harris for that. That is absolutely incredible.
00:24:47
Speaker
and so with And within the game, um there were some challenges, like secret challenges that you could do. And the first pair that actually did it got a very special message in game from Joseph Harris. And then Joseph Harris tweeted about it, that the two of them are going to be invited to the studio when their fourth game is fourth.
00:25:08
Speaker
Wait, brothers, brothers, It takes ah but Brothers A Way Out. It takes two. When their fifth game is in the works, they will be invited to the studio to get a sneak peek of it ah when it's ready. They will be like some of the first people to get to see that, which is absolutely insane.
00:25:28
Speaker
Awesome. Sea of Thieves got a brand new Destiny 2 cosmetics in the game as part of a new collaboration. ah and This is also thanks to of Thieves now being on PlayStation um that this even got to happen.
00:25:44
Speaker
ah Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics laid off 17 employees to better align their current business needs and the studio's future success. That is what they the quote, end quote of another game layoff.
00:25:59
Speaker
Hmm. ah In Tony Hawk news, Tony Hawk apparently intervened to get Bam Margera. It's a pro skater three and four. This is reported in his ah is reported. His addition is very last minute, but was demanded by Tony Hawk.
00:26:14
Speaker
Margera was only the only original skater from pro skater three and four admitted originally because of his appearances that he made on jackass. If you know the bam and the reputation he got.
00:26:26
Speaker
Oh, wow. I actually didn't even know um he was like playing. They were planning on not adding him. But yeah, i was like good i like that was really cool of like Tony Hawk just to say like, hey, like you can't just leave out like what you can't just leave out one of the skaters like that. Yeah.
00:26:40
Speaker
Yeah, no, absolutely. up Big Rigs Over the Road Racing. This is a canonical bad video game with a 1 out of 10 review from GameSpot and an 8 out of 100 score on Metacritic.
00:26:53
Speaker
Well, it's set to be re-released on Steam this year sometime between April and June. This game is about to make some big money. One of the worst games ever made. And yeah, no, I think it will. I think we'll see some big streamers play this to see. It's like, oh, I can't be that bad.
00:27:10
Speaker
Only for them to be like, what the fuck is this garbage? This is the game with the like your winner screen, right? I honestly do not know.
00:27:22
Speaker
Yeah, because it was something that had a grammatical error when you like won the um when you actually won the course. And it was like, no, it's it just says you are winner. Or something not instead of like you are a winner.
00:27:35
Speaker
Just you are winner. Oh, great. I love that. um Mind's Eye, the Grand Theft Auto-esque story-driven action game led by former Rockstar Games producer Leslie Benzies is going to be arriving on June 10th as a brand new trailer dropped for the game showcasing some more stuff.
00:27:51
Speaker
So if you need that GTA fix before GTA six, definitely give this one a look. z The accessible games initiative announced at the game developers conference. The GDC is seeking to help players make more informed buying decisions.
00:28:07
Speaker
So the ESA proposed the idea of including accessibility tags for consumers to use when buying new games. And this is going to be implemented very soon. The full list currently includes 24 tags, which were guidance and feedback sourced from players with disabilities, accessibility advocacy advocacy groups, and development teams, end quote.

The tags are going to appear on digital storefronts, product pages, digital catalogs, so that way consumers buying games online would be able to see all the accessibility options before making a purchase.

ESA Accessibility Proposal

00:28:37
Speaker
This announcement it was made with representatives from EA, Google, Microsoft, Nintendo, and Ubisoft present. Sony, Amazon, Riot, Squeenix, and Warner Brothers games have also agreed to participate in this initiative.
00:28:51
Speaker
It's unclear when they'll be added to the storefronts, the tags, but the announcement suggests it's going to happen soon. And all this really is, it's like... If you go read the article, yeah they kind of show an example of what um these would look like. And it's really just but like ah um like, oh, single like single player online like features online multiplayer. It's more of just like an easier way for you to see um like what it offers and like what accessibility options the game will have like on release.
00:29:23
Speaker
I think that's a really cool thing. Yes. No, I think it's really cool. It's pretty harmless. And it's said to only really be in the storefronts for these games and but and not on the actual games, though.
00:29:35
Speaker
Like, yeah, because obviously you just go to the options for that stuff. Yeah. Fallout 4, a modder for Fallout 4, broke reality with a brand new mod called Chipotle Mobile Order.
00:29:50
Speaker
This is a mod for Fallout 4 that lets you order Chipotle from your Pip-Boy in-game. And you... are and This is like real food. like You order real Chipotle and you will get Chipotle at your door.
00:30:07
Speaker
I kind of want to know, like, the workers, when they see the order come in, where does it say that it comes from? um Obviously, it says it comes from ah the Commonwealth of Boston, Massachusetts.
00:30:23
Speaker
Even if you're in California, you're like, what the fuck? It's like, wait, you well I don't know how they did it in Boston. Yeah. I don't know how they did it, but it works. and i don't I don't know the full extent of it, of like how you got to set a location. or like i like I don't know how it fully works, but it's crazy to see that that that they modded that in.
00:30:46
Speaker
You know, it's crazy because this is something me and my friends would do back in the day if we heard about this. We would literally drive to GameStop by Fallout 4 just to order Chipotle to one of our houses.
00:30:59
Speaker
That's great. That would be funny. That would be funny. ah The Five Nights at Freddy's 2 got its first teaser trailer, the movie, ah revealing a few of the toy animatronics and bangle.
00:31:13
Speaker
Looking forward to it. I saw the first one. It comes out later this year, I believe, as well. So look forward to that from Blumhouse Studios. ah Emma Frost and Ultron will be joining Marvel re's Rivals Season 2. This starts April 11th, and every month they'll be adding a new character from The Sound of Things, ah with the majority of the of them being X-Men.
00:31:38
Speaker
o
00:31:41
Speaker
um The Minecraft movie is out, and critics are split, with the movie having just a little bit over 50% on Rotten Tomatoes. This is a lot higher of a rating than I was expecting to hear. Same.
00:31:58
Speaker
Same. I'm not like, here's thing. I'm not mad, but I'm not, I'm not ah like, I don't know where to feel about this. Like the sub critics said, there is there's definitely some bad things about the movie, ah but some said there are some good things about it too. It's, it's very, this is a very much a divisive movie.
00:32:16
Speaker
Yeah. So I guess you know what? Good job, Minecraft. You didn't make a full absolute stinker, but you might have. ah Hard to say. that The public reaction and public reviews are going to be what really determined the big fallout or rise of this movie. Yeah, from the sound from the looks of it, um at least from what I've been hearing, it just looks like You're just going to leave the theater kind of just in constant confusion of like how to feel when leaving. up from The one good thing I did hear about the movie is that they do feature um a pig with a crown ah to represent Technoblade as a brief thing, which you know what?
00:33:02
Speaker
Kudos to the Minecraft movie for that. Yeah, that was really sweet of them. That's really great of them for them to have done that. Mm hmm. And lastly, in some regular gaming news, the Monster Hunter Wild's first title update is live right now. This is now giving players the ability to fight the Mizutsune and Zosia.
00:33:22
Speaker
Nice. As a guy who does not play Monster Hunter, except ah knows about Rathalos, he Go kill the things. Yeah. that That's pretty much all my knowledge, too. It's just... yeah I know Rathalos because of Smash Bros.
00:33:38
Speaker
I know Rathalos because I fought him in Smash Bros. in Final Fantasy XIV.

Fallout 4 Mod and Chipotle Integration

00:33:43
Speaker
Oh, he's 18? And I had to fight him in Final Fantasy XIV 50 times to get a fucking mount of him. oh wow.
00:33:50
Speaker
Because the mount never drops! Except I... like During like my 60th fight, because obviously like you do the fight like for weeklies sometimes or whatever, and like... i It was like me, my boy Zach, and I think TC was there too.
00:34:06
Speaker
We were doing it just for weeklies, and the mount actually dropped for the first time, and none of us could get it. And we were like, what the actual fuck?
00:34:18
Speaker
And yeah was it drops here. You just have to, you just have to roll with it. Yeah. It's ah yeah. I can't believe that. Anyway, an ongoing game news starting off with final fantasy 14, 7.2 released a little bit earlier.
00:34:33
Speaker
ah so now you can do the new 7.2 MSQ, the brand new Arcadian cruiserweights and the grand new cruiserweight savaged here, which just released this past week.
00:34:46
Speaker
ah Savage clear already going through. I actually did not see what the new Savage mount is from M8. I'll have to see what it is. I think it's the car.
00:34:57
Speaker
They added a cyber like there's a cyberpunk like flying bike that you can get for like 7 million gill. um and I think the car is probably the Savage tier that they that Yoshi P teased, but I haven't actually seen what it is yet.
00:35:14
Speaker
Cool. um And more 7.2 updates will be happening later adding the brand new moon. um oh Oh God, what is it? The moon. Moon Sanctuary Sanctuary crafting stuff.
00:35:28
Speaker
um And then the new um Baja-like area as well. ah In Fortnite Epic Game News, 50 versus 50 mode returned for a limited time.
00:35:40
Speaker
um But there is the the mode has been experiencing a bot problem. It'll be sticking around until April fourteenth In Blizzard news, Blizzard plans to revive the WoW. Okay, so big thing happened if you watch a lot of World of Warcraft's hardcore and you're familiar with the OnlyFangs guild.
00:36:00
Speaker
Well, recently, that they that experienced a DDoS attack. And I think like a good third or something of the guild were killed because of that DDoS because they were in the middle of a raid when it happened.
00:36:13
Speaker
So it also kind of seems targeted and everything. So WoW said, hey, classic hardcore characters ah that died after this recent DDoS attacks ah can be revived. It says that their sole discretion um that Blizzard did this. So because in hardcore, once you're dead, you have to start all over, but they are giving these players the option to revive. And I think like a majority of them took it, um except I don't know if all of them took it or not, because I don't know if any of them just wanted out or whatever, but yeah.
00:36:50
Speaker
That happened. i would definitely take the revive. if If I got unfairly, unfairly lost my character. Yeah, I'm taking the revive. Like, you know what? yeah like I feel for that. But honestly, a part of me was like, you know what? Good.
00:37:03
Speaker
Like, and granted, like, this is led by Soda Poppin and Tyler One. um the They're the leaders of the OnlyFangs guild, essentially. And honestly, I really don't care because I really don't care for either of those two streamers.
00:37:17
Speaker
I've never really been a fan of the two of them. And yeah, just um honestly, I don't care. but i play FF14. I don't care about World of Warcraft that much.
00:37:32
Speaker
Oh, that's fair. And also i still am very anti-Blizzard, but you know what? This is a rare Blizzard W. Yeah. I'll give them that.

Weekly Review Highlights

00:40:23
Speaker
Any thoughts on any ah final thoughts on any of the stories there, Fiery Z? Pretty much. um I know Pokemon TCG. The only thing I'm kind of like super interested in was like Journey Together. There's a Lycanroc card in there that I really want.
00:40:39
Speaker
oo but i But I'm trying to stay strong and, you know, save that money for Switch 2. So I'm just holding off on it for now. That is fair. That is fair. All right. Well, with that, it's time for us to now jump ahead and see what games are going to coming out in the near future.

00:42:43
Speaker
And lastly, on the 18th, Lunar Remastered Collection comes to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. And those are the games coming on the next two weeks. The big ones, starting off South of Midnight. This is a huge game. Xbox exclusive. a Microsoft Xbox exclusive. Obviously PC, but like you know this is like one of Xbox big hitters that they are hoping will do really good.
00:43:06
Speaker
It looks great. I mean, the art style for this game looks absolutely fantastic. um Don't know if I'll personally play it. I'll probably wait for a few reviews to come out before I determine if I play it.
00:43:18
Speaker
um But it looks great. And... If you like, like if like if magic was in the bayou, definitely go give this game a look. I can't speak highly enough about Duck Detective. So being able to play this game on mobile is a great thing, actually. Very, very simple game. And a mobile version of this is actually makes a lot of sense.
00:43:41
Speaker
um So if you don't have ah a PC or a Switch, because I think it was on Switch to switch as well, ah go go play go play Duck Detective. It's getting another game, I believe, this year.
00:43:53
Speaker
um go play it.
00:43:57
Speaker
um probably that' mind Promise Mascot Agency is... This looks absolutely crazy. um You drive a around delivering mascots from place to place.
00:44:09
Speaker
ah and like Look up a trailer from the Promise Mascot Agency. This game looks absolutely insane. Talos Principle Reawakened. This is a remake of the Talos Principle, i've heard which I've heard nothing but good things about. If you like puzzle games, that it's because that's what I believe what the genre falls under, go check it out.
00:44:31
Speaker
um Monument Valley 1 and 2, play it. Just play those games. They're absolutely fantastic. And Lunar, i've heard nothing but I've heard a lot of good things about Lunar.
00:44:43
Speaker
um And I know that a lot of people are happy that it's finally getting a remaster.
00:44:48
Speaker
ah Anything you want to add about any of those game releases, Freezy? um No, not that I can think of. I think you kind of covered most of it. All right. Well, with that, it's time for us to now talk all things Nintendo this week in the Game Lounge.

Nintendo Direct Announcements

00:45:06
Speaker
Conversations of past and future games, the state of the gaming industry, how big decisions affect gamers and anything else that's important to us. Here's what's going down this week in the Game Lounge. Oh, all right. So starting off, we're going to start off with the March 27th Nintendo Direct, because that's where this this whole crazy Nintendo business all begins.
00:45:29
Speaker
because we've had two directs in two weeks and the internet is going crazy for good with good things, bad things, things all over the place. Oh yes.
00:45:41
Speaker
So we're going to start out with the most tame thing, which was last, which was ah the direct, the direct on the 27th. And let's start off with everything that they announced starting off. We got trailer, a brand new trailer for dragon quest. One and two HD2D remake, which is great.
00:45:56
Speaker
Looks good. Looks beautiful. Um, If you're a fan Dragon Quest, you're going to love it. ah people I know that a lot of people love the Dragon Quest 3 HD 2D remake, so it's... ah Yeah.
00:46:09
Speaker
Get excited. yeah ah Then, ah the first thing... that Then we go into our first batch of headlines, and I immediately screamed because we are getting a brand new Somnium Files game.
00:46:22
Speaker
Oh my fucking god! We are getting the third Somnium Files game. No sleep for Konami Date. I am very excited for this. I am super, super duper excited for this. This is from Spike Chunsoft. If you're a fan of Danganronpa, please play the Somnium Vile games. These are absolutely fantastic visual novels.
00:46:42
Speaker
ah Please go play them. um This releases on July 25th. It will also be out on the Switch, too. ah Then, if you're a Shin Megami Tensei fan, Raido is getting a remaster of the Mystery of the Soulless Army.
00:46:56
Speaker
This will also be out on the Switch 2, and it comes out June 19th. Then we got a brand new look and trailer for Shadow Labyrinth, a dark, gritty Pac-Man game, which will also be coming out on Switch 2.
00:47:10
Speaker
This releases July eighteenth This game was kind of weird to see. I didn't realize it was going to be Gritty Pac-Man. Oh, yeah. No, I mean, like, well, when we saw it at the Game Awards last year, it was it was like, wait, what is this? This looks like a Metroidvania. Then we see Pac-Man, and then we're like, wait, what the fuck?
00:47:28
Speaker
Yeah, no, this is looking great. This is looking bad. I'm going to definitely play this. I want to see what they what they do with this. Mm-hmm. Patapon 1 and 2 remake will be coming to the Switch. I'm assuming it will be also coming to PlayStation 4 or 5 as well, considering Patapon are featured in Astro Bot.
00:47:50
Speaker
um ah This is a rhythm command game where you command a little army go ah with ah rhythm.
00:48:03
Speaker
um looks really It looks cool. I mean, I never really i never played the Patapon games, but this is cool that it's getting a remake. Comes out July 11th. ah Story of Seasons showed off that their next game, Story of Seasons Grand Bazaar. This is a remake of the DS game Story of Seasons game.
00:48:20
Speaker
This will again also be on Switch 2. This releases August 27th. And then we get to our next ah big thing, which is a new gameplay look at Metroid Prime 4 Beyond.
00:48:32
Speaker
It looks so good. It looks so good. It looks like I never like this is like one of the games where, you know, we heard it.
00:48:43
Speaker
Was it like seven or eight years ago? And then we're just like, all right, it's just like like kind of like gave up hope after like two years. I'm like, all right, it's probably just not real. And then, you know, they posted that one, like, changed their Twitter banner. I was like, all right, that's kind of cool, but it's probably still not real, right?
00:49:01
Speaker
And then they finally actually gave us gameplay. like, oh, wait, it's actually real now. Yeah, it's happening. um We still don't have a release date, though. Out of both directs that happened, we still don't have a release date.
00:49:15
Speaker
And i was I had bet money that Prime 4 was going to be a Switch 2 launch title. and I thought it was going to be a launch title as well. And it's not. I'm very surprised.
00:49:25
Speaker
i um'm I'm surprised that I was wrong that Metroid Prime 4 is not a launch title because i was i was like I was so sure that this was going to be a launch title.
00:49:36
Speaker
Yeah, i was I thought it was going to pull the same thing that they did with Breath of the Wild. Exactly. because i mean They kind of are still. like Metroid Prime 4 will be available on both the Switch and Switch 2.
00:49:49
Speaker
So it is still this is the sweet this is the the Breath of the Wild of the of the Switch. Yeah. The only thing I was like, I thought it was also going to be a launch title, but at the same time, in the back of my head, i was just always thinking like...
00:50:04
Speaker
Does Metroid like have like enough sauce to kind of like carry the system as like a launch title or does it have to be paired with something else? Because like, you know, Zelda can always do that because people love Zelda.
00:50:19
Speaker
Yeah, people love Zelda, people love Mario, people love Pokemon. Yeah, those three games can carry like can carry a launch title. But Metroid, it was like kind of like that was always the question the back of my head.
00:50:32
Speaker
Yeah, no, it definitely was. I mean, like, but here's the thing, though, with the Switch 2, which we'll talk about their launch titles later, um like, you kind of know that, like, they're always going to have, like a mark like, one of their bigger flagships there for their launch titles.
00:50:47
Speaker
So, like, even if they did put Metroid there, that's, like, just a bonus add-on as well to get more people to buy it, too. Like, sure, like, people will, like, people will primarily buy it for that, but there will be that crowd that will buy it for Metroid as well.
00:51:00
Speaker
Yeah, exactly. Regardless, the new gameplay looks great. um It looks I still need to play the other three prime games, though. I need to finish prime one at least before I play this game.
00:51:16
Speaker
We then go into our next batch of headlines. Disney Villains Cursed Cafe. This is out now for you. It's like a combination of like coffee talk with Disney villains.
00:51:27
Speaker
ah Yeah. Westbrook. This is also going to be or sorry, which Brooke. This will also be on Switch 2. Comes out holiday 2025. The Eternal Life of Goldman, which looks like a duck, a hand drawn DuckTales like because you use like a pogo stick to like like you use a cane as a pogo stick like Scrooge McDuck does um as like combat which is really cool looking hand drawn comes out holiday 2025 Gradius Origins which is a collection of the Gradius and what was it Bumblebee games or something like that ah think so
00:52:07
Speaker
That releases August 7th. Rift of the Necrodancer is out now with Celeste DLC and ut with the Celeste DLC. And also it'll be getting pizza tower DLC in the future, which is nuts.
00:52:21
Speaker
ah And then we got trailer for Tamagotchi Plaza, which is also coming to the switch to, which releases June 27th. And everyone was like, what do you mean is pre pronounced Tamagotchi?
00:52:33
Speaker
I always thought it was Tamagotchi for... Yeah, we've been calling it Tamagotchi all our life. What do you mean, Tamagotchi? Have we been wrong all these years? I think we have. i I think we have, which But remember seeing the commercial for it. then again, it's it's it's just Americanized commercials. They probably see it and they're like oh, Tamagotchi? Sure.
00:52:57
Speaker
Sure. And so I'm like, who knows? but The debate is that Tamagotchi Tamagotchi is the latest Giff and Jeff.
00:53:08
Speaker
We think a brand new trailer for Pokemon legends Z a which, uh, showcased the nighttime system where that's where you'll be battling trainers and you can ambush them.
00:53:20
Speaker
No more. Do we have to look them in the eyes to battle? or We can jump them from behind. I think this is going to be super fun because I was like wondering, like i was like um having everything in the city is cool and everything, but there's like so much that you can do with like within city limits. Like what like what else could they do? And then I forgot about day and nighttime. You could just, you know, change the entire gameplay formula that way. I was like, oh, sweet.
00:53:50
Speaker
That actually helps out a lot then. Yeah, no, it's really cool. And there's a ranking system where you go from rank Z to get to rank A. i actually like that a lot.
00:54:00
Speaker
And that's why it's called Legend ZA. we got the real story of why. Yeah. All right. the It's a ranking system. That's why. And then we get a trailer for a game franchise that we thought we wouldn't see ever ever again The first of many.
00:54:21
Speaker
Rhythm Heaven Groove. The brand new Rhythm Heaven game set for 2026. Very exciting to see that it's coming back for the Switch. And I'm assuming Switch 2 as well.
00:54:35
Speaker
and I'm happy for the fans. I have personally never played Rhythm Heaven, but I've only heard amazing things about it. So I actually might end up getting this game just to try it out. Yeah, absolutely.
00:54:46
Speaker
And then Nintendo talks about the virtual game card system, ah which I believe... Hold on. Let me look. I'm going ah to open my Switch right now.
00:54:58
Speaker
Okay, no. Wait, hold on. Do I need to make a system update? They said it was supposed to be implemented soon. So... System update?
00:55:12
Speaker
Okay, no, it's not implemented yet. um But they did say later this month they will be implementing it, where basically all digital games will be turned to a digital game card.
00:55:25
Speaker
And then you can connect another Switch with yours and transfer the games ah from one Switch to the other. And...
00:55:37
Speaker
whichever one it's on is the one you can play it on and once they're linked you can then freely ah put them between switch and switch which i think is a cool way to do it i believe it's also how they're doing it with this what you can connect it to a switch to to do that i believe is what they said in the trailer is you'll be able to do that with the switch too Yeah, I know it's like time. I think it's like time limit based to like you only get it.
00:56:05
Speaker
You can only lend it out for a two week period. No. So that is with the family. That's with the family plan. So if you have a family, if you're if you're on a family account and like whichever, because obviously like ah you each have your own individual eShop account with a family account.
00:56:24
Speaker
so that you're each buying your games individually. With the family account, you can lend out the games that you've purchased up to two weeks to the members of your family plan account. And that's what has the two-week limit.
00:56:36
Speaker
the switch The general switch to switch connection, which can only be like between two switches, um as long as i believe it's like the same account uh that you're able to free actually i know it's the same account or like as long as you whatever it is with that with the two switches that has no time limit it on whichever switch they're on it's the family account that has a two-week period that you can lend out your games to the people on your family account Yeah, i kind of I kind of like was confused when I first saw it, like in the ah direct.
00:57:09
Speaker
But now I kind of like I think it's going to be kind of cool because like, you know, you're you're always going have like that friend who has like that one game on their switch or like I kind of want to try this out, but I don't know if I want to like throw the money down for it just yet. Mm yeah no i think it's good like if you and you're like i think for people who do like the like i feel like the family account is maybe like if you use the family account between like you and your friend group i think those are the people who probably benefit the most from this um because then you're able to lend each other games for like every two weeks or so to so that way y'all can just save money and shit
00:57:50
Speaker
Yeah, exactly. And I think that's how you should use a Nintendo family account. Obviously, if you have a family and you all have switches, then obviously you do that. But if, like, you want to do the family account and save some money with your friends, then do that shit, too. That shit that shit works.
00:58:05
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. But, uh, no, it seems it seems all right. Honestly, it's just... Again, Nintendo being Nintendo and just changing how it does things a little, like, slightly, which isn't too, too bad.
00:58:20
Speaker
We then go into our last batch of headlines. Saga Frontier 2 Remastered, which the got the trailer, and at which again, it is out right now. Monument Valley 1 and 2 were announced coming to the Switch coming April 15th.
00:58:33
Speaker
And then the big news about Monument Valley. Monument Valley 3 finally is leaving its Netflix games exclusivity. Oh, let's go.
00:58:44
Speaker
Oh, you have no idea how fucking much I hated when they announced Monument Valley 3 was going to be a Netflix Games exclusive. I thought that was the absolute dumbest shit in the fucking world.
00:58:56
Speaker
And finally, finally, it's leaving. It'll be coming to the Switch summer 2025. um And I also did look on Steam. It's going to be coming to Steam as well. o nice Oh,
00:59:11
Speaker
um Yeah, going exclusive Netflix is I'll be honest, not the move at all. Leave the Netflix exclusivity to those garbage squid game apps.
00:59:25
Speaker
We then got a trailer for Everybody's Golf Hot Shots, which comes out later 2025. Marvel Cosmic Invasion, a side-scroller beat-em-up, also going to be on Switch 2, comes out holiday 2025.
00:59:37
Speaker
And then the last game that was shown off, Tamodachi Life, Living the Dream, but coming out next year, 2026. white wise sex This I am very excited for.
00:59:50
Speaker
I played the first Tamodachi Life a lot back on the 3DS, and I am very excited that it's finally, finally getting another entry. See, I've never played Tamodachi Life, but from what I've seen of it, it kind of just seems like you make your own Mii's reality TV show, and I'm all for it.
01:00:12
Speaker
So I might get it. Basically, you you just you make the Mii's. They'll do their own thing. You can give them like clothing and stuff or and stuff. But like, really, they're just doing their own thing.
01:00:24
Speaker
but That's all they're doing. They're just doing their own thing and you just get to watch. um I mean, there's ways you to make money and stuff to get ah things and to like and everything. But yeah, no, it's ah i'm excited I'm very excited.
01:00:38
Speaker
I'm so excited. Yeah, I think I might end up buying it as well. um And i'm I'm pretty sure that will also be on Switch 2 as well i got um because of just its release date.
01:00:52
Speaker
um And then they ended the show by and by announcing the Nintendo Today app, um which is out now for free. And you can use it if you have a Nintendo account.
01:01:03
Speaker
This is basically giving updates on news and stuff from Nintendo and all their directs that they have. And through the app, they announced that the live-action Zelda movie will be releasing March 27th.
01:01:17
Speaker
Yeah, i know. I feel like I know exactly why they chose that year and around that month. And it's because it's the 10-year anniversary of ah Breath of the Wild that year.
01:01:27
Speaker
Wait, actually? Oh, yeah. Oh, my God. Wow. So it gives me kind of ah feeling that like, I think it's going to be his own original story, but I think there actually might be a legit chance that it might incorporate a lot of Breath of the Wild stuff.
01:01:43
Speaker
It might, but feel like going the original story route will probably be what they do. Mm-hmm. um So more details will be released about that within the coming years ah for us to find out who's Link, who's Zelda.
01:01:56
Speaker
Will there be Ganondorf? ah Will there be Gorons? Will there be Ritos? Will there be Zoras? Will there be Gerudo?
01:02:07
Speaker
i mean, who knows? Who knows? who knows um We'll find out more. um And that was the March 27th direct. ah Were there any final thoughts that you had on any of the games that were shown off there for easy?
01:02:23
Speaker
Um, so like my top two are still just Pokemon and Metroid. They both looked amazing. So I'm, ah I'm excited for those, uh, rhythm heaven. I'm probably going end up buying cause I, I like, I like rhythm games and I think this one looks like it's going to a little, little fun, little goofy time.
01:02:41
Speaker
And Tomodachi life is kind of giving me like, kind of like a pseudo, um, Animal Crossing feel to it, like when Animal Crossing first dropped on Switch. Yeah, Tabadachi Life is basically like an Animal Crossing just with less work to do, really.
01:02:58
Speaker
Yeah, so if it's something like that, then yeah, i' might I'm probably going to end up playing it as well. All right. And that was the March 27th direct.

Nintendo Switch 2 Information

01:03:08
Speaker
It was good. It was so it was solid.
01:03:10
Speaker
ah But people were like, where's Silksog? Where's Deltarune? Where's blah, blah? And we're just like, well, we have another one coming next week. Who knows what we'll see.
01:03:24
Speaker
Hey. Yeah, you. You've been gaming for six hours straight with no hydration station. You're starting to look like a ghoul from Fallout 4. Go drink some water.
01:03:36
Speaker
Yeah, that's it. That's the whole message. Drink water, you gremlin. And that's what we're going to get into right now. The Nintendo Switch 2 Directs. Oh my God. If you have ever experienced information overload, this was the direct that would do that to you.
01:03:53
Speaker
Oh my fucking God. All right. Starting off the Nintendo switch two will be launching on June 5th. That is when it's released. That is its launch date.
01:04:05
Speaker
I still can't believe it's so like, yeah, it's it's we are we are like less than two months away. Yeah. Cause I always said like, I thought the switch was coming out The switch two was coming out in June and out like when I actually heard it, I was like, oh wow. That's a lot sooner than I thought. Yes.
01:04:23
Speaker
Yes, it is. Okay. So we're going to start off. I've divided divided this up into three segments. The hardware, the first party titles, and the partner showcase.
01:04:36
Speaker
and we're going to start off with the hardware, talking about the Switch 2 and its features that it will have on watch Starting off, they showed off the Joy-Con 2.
01:04:46
Speaker
Like, hardware-wise, they started with the Joy-Con 2 controllers. Brand new C button. Because when they teased it a little bit earlier, we're like, oh, there's a C button on there. i wonder what that does. Well, that allows for the brand new game chat feature.
01:05:03
Speaker
Uh-oh. Which will also... ah but Basically, it's Nintendo Discord. with a microphone built into the Switch 2 and a brand camera that you can get as well as you'll be out on launch. I believe that's set to be $50, the camera itself, USD.
01:05:26
Speaker
Yeah. Which, I mean, honestly, that's not bad for a 480p camera, I believe is what but they said the quality is kind of going to be. I mean, that's all right. um this the The brand new chat feature and camera and microphone very much remind me of Kinect for some reason.
01:05:45
Speaker
Yeah, it definitely has that connect slash like even like i toy kind of feel. Yeah, they're also within within game chat. You'll be able to share your game screen, which when they showed it, those are running about 10 frames per second.
01:06:00
Speaker
um They weren't running very well, but to be fair, No one's realistically, no one's going to really use screen share. I feel like game chat's not going to really get used at all.
01:06:13
Speaker
Honestly, like discord is a thing and we all kind of just use that. Yeah, I feel like people are just it's like nice to have that option, especially like I guess for like have to like look at it from like being like a little kid perspective as well. It's like really nice for like them to be able to do that. Like, yeah, like I think like if you're a family that lives far apart, like let's say you're like a divorced dad or a divorced mom and you play video games and you want to play video games with your kid and like
01:06:46
Speaker
the other parent is like okay with this that you can chat with them through this ah while they're at the other parent's house or something like that um through the Nintendo switch and whatnot um or you know ah like like a like this is really for like the younger audience like the really young audience essentially but I can see this getting ah
01:07:15
Speaker
oh
01:07:19
Speaker
Like I've seen the memes already where they've basically turned it into COD lobbies. Oh yeah. I, um I immediately saw that day one. Yeah. Um, the Dendro switch online membership is required for this, but they are going to be ah giving us an open access period for it until March 31st, 2026. So giving you us a good, like almost a whole year, almost a year of, uh, free voice chats.
01:07:50
Speaker
Free voice. your Yeah. I got it. It's all right. It is. The C button will probably be a button that doesn't get used super, super often. Yeah. ah But then they showed off the new game share ah where you can. If one person has a copy of a game, multiple systems can play this, which is giving huge DS download play energy.
01:08:16
Speaker
Um, this allows online play with certain games. and they're giving a free update to clubhouse games. 51, uh, where basically if one person owns that game up to you, that, that person and three other people can play it with but just the one copy.
01:08:31
Speaker
I need to find a friend who has clubhouse games so he can play. um This will be coming to other games as well um with what they showed. Super Mario 3D World, Mario Odyssey, Captain Toad, and Big Brain Academy, Brain vs. Brain, and select exclusives from this now that are going to be switched to exclusives as well. We'll be getting this.
01:08:52
Speaker
I didn't know three d World was getting... Okay, I'm i'm gathering i'm gathering a crew for 3D World constantly now. And yeah, so it's very cool. um And yeah, it's just DS download play on the Switch 2, which I think is great. I think this is a cool feature.
01:09:09
Speaker
um And yeah. All right. Now we get into the specs of the Nintendo Switch 2. We've got 7.9 inch screen, but the same thickness of the Switch 1.
01:09:23
Speaker
um double the it is double the pixels though with the screen size. i up to 1080 on the screen. 120 frames per second.
01:09:35
Speaker
An LCD screen with HDR support. The Joy-Con 2 controllers are magnetically attached. We have a bigger SL and SR buttons on the Joy-Cons. Larger control sticks.
01:09:46
Speaker
Mouse controls! Which, boy, that's going cause some carpal tunnel for those who do not have two mouse pads with the wrist rest. Yeah, i need to buy a mouse pad if I'm going to use this. We're have to buy a second one.
01:10:01
Speaker
Oh, true. Better speakers for more clear and natural sound. The microphone, which has noise-canceling tech for voice clarity. three d audio options for the headphones.
01:10:13
Speaker
A brand new stand, which is much more durable. Two USB-C ports, one at the top, one at the bottom. 256 gigabytes of storage, eight times more than that of the Switch 1.
01:10:25
Speaker
A brand new dock and 4K support on TVs that do support for up to 4K. A brand new fan in the dock for system cooling and performance stabilization.
01:10:37
Speaker
It is compatible with Switch games, both physical and digital. ah The brand new game card they showed off as well. It's going to be the same size a Switch 1 card, but it's red.
01:10:49
Speaker
And also, it'll have faster data reading. um When it comes to adding more storage, micro SD express cards are what you can use. Regular micro SD cards will not be usable.
01:11:03
Speaker
Yeah, that one kind of like that one kind of like has me a little bit confused or a little bit like annoyed. I mean, i yeah like immediately when they said that, I looked up the price of a mic. It's only 30 bucks for a micro.
01:11:17
Speaker
It's only 30. Oh, yeah, that's fine. Then I believe that's in Canadian, too. Oh, yeah. We're super fine. yeah Yeah. And this was like for 256 on Amazon.
01:11:29
Speaker
Oh, like, legit, legit, guys. This was it's not as big of a deal as you're thinking. Like, obviously, like, look, granted, having a base 256 gigabytes on the Switch 2 already is nice.
01:11:42
Speaker
Um, cause I've barely, i have barely used the amount of data. Like I have, like, I think another two 50, I think I have a two 56 in my switch currently with my micro SD legit. It's barely being, it's barely been touched with how much I have on that one. So like, we'll be fine.
01:12:03
Speaker
You'll be fine. If you don't have it. um There will be a system transfer feature to get your Switch 1 data to the Switch 2. And they also showed off the brand new Pro Controller with a C button and two paddles on the grips. The GL and GR button, it'll also have an audio jack.
01:12:20
Speaker
But if you are concerned, um the good news is your Switch 1 Pro Controller is compatible with the Switch 2. I also just learned today your Joy-Cons are also compatible with the Switch 2 as well. Yes, your Joy-Cons are also compatible. I believe those are the only accessories that are compatible.
01:12:40
Speaker
um The Joy-Con charger, like the freestanding charger, technically isn't compatible, but legit, just plug that into a wall charger and you'll be able to charge your Joy-Cons again.
01:12:51
Speaker
so
01:12:53
Speaker
um And that's everything spec wise. They then went on to say there are going to be three types of games that you'll be able to play on the Switch 2. Obviously, the Switch 2 exclusive games, the compatible Switch 1 games, which most games will be.
01:13:07
Speaker
um There is a list saying that like some games won't be right away, but they're going do their best to make all the games compatible over time. And Switch 2 edition games. Now, Switch 2 edition game is sort of like how, and I'll use the PlayStation as an example because this is how it has it, whereas the game has a PS4 and a PS5 version.
01:13:30
Speaker
Um, and we're the PS five. And that's basically what this is for a switch one and a switch two. and if you own the game on switch one, you can upgrade it to the switch two edition by purchasing an upgrade pack, which thanks to some people, which thanks to the Japanese site for releasing some prices of like what breath of the wild was on the switch and brother, the wild to what breath wild was on the switch to,
01:13:55
Speaker
um It's like a $10 difference. So people are expecting ah the the expect the upgrade packs to cost somewhere between $10 and $15. $20 at most. But realistically, if Nintendo plays it smart, which I think they will, hopefully, it'll be a $10 upgrade pass because that is what PlayStation does.
01:14:15
Speaker
If you have a PlayStation 4 version and you want to upgrade it to the PlayStation 5, it's only $10. Oh yeah, they definitely gotta play it safe. So they gotta play it safe, and realistically, it'll probably be $10.15 at most.
01:14:30
Speaker
Now, some of the games that will be getting this upgrade that they actually showed off Super Mario Party Jamboree. further adding ah hey well Where they are adding Jamboree TV, which adds three new things to the game that they showed off. There might be more, but these are the three key things they showed off.
01:14:47
Speaker
First, in Mario Party mode, they are adding camera support where you can see each other in the game and all your reactions to everything wild and crazy happening in the Mario Party.
01:15:00
Speaker
I love this because I think this is definitely like the kind of like goofiness that Mario Party needs. Yeah. Then and we got Bowser TV.
01:15:12
Speaker
This will be utilizing the camera and the microphone in a set sense of like AR minigames and voice minigames. And this.
01:15:24
Speaker
Yeah, this one's going to be like kind of just like, honestly, it kind of like reminds me of like i toy mini games. Yeah, that's really what this is. But then you got Carnival Coaster, which will be which is full of your mouse controlled mini games.
01:15:39
Speaker
Yeah, I think Carnival Coaster is honestly, I think that's probably going to be the best mode out of those three. Yeah, that's going the one that people would play the most because this and also and I think I said this when I was reacting to everything.
01:15:51
Speaker
Oh, VTubers are in shambles right now because of the Switch camera. Oh, no. VTubers about to leak themselves just to play Mario Party again.
01:16:05
Speaker
Surely they're just going to tape a picture of their VTuber model over the camera, right? they they could I mean they ah and mean, that would work for Mario Party mode.
01:16:16
Speaker
But it would not work for Bowser TV mode. Oh, that is true. Forgot about that part. yeah Like I said, VTubers in shambles. um Then we got to see Legend Zelda Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. And holy shit, they're running at 60 frames per second and they look amazing.
01:16:35
Speaker
Oh my god, they're running at like the higher frame rate, and they showed the fucking Kokiri Forest without any lag. Holy fucking shit, they did it It's really good, though.
01:16:50
Speaker
It looks really fucking good. Holy shit. ah They'll also be implementing Zelda Notes on the Nintendo Switch app, ah which is only for the Switch 2 versions, which will give you ah Google Maps to every Korok or shrine that you haven't found yet.
01:17:05
Speaker
QR code sharing for your Zodai creations and Tears of the Kingdoms. And they are also going to be adding amiibo for Tulan, Sidon, Unobo, and Riju, which will also be released on June 5th, and a giant Binaru Construct amiibo later on.
01:17:22
Speaker
I might get that Unobo amiibo. um We then got Kirby and the Forgotten Land plus Starcrossed World, a brand new campaign mode coming to Kirby and the Forgotten Land, which I'm excited for. This is one of those upgrades that I will definitely be getting.
01:17:39
Speaker
Oh, yeah, I'm absolutely getting this upgrade because it just looks like you play through the entirety of Forgotten Land again, but with like different pathways now. Or it's like a separate story potentially too.
01:17:51
Speaker
Yeah. Which i'm I'm just excited for. Oh, yeah. Metroid Prime 4 Beyond will be getting a Switch 2 version. It's going to have mouse controls on the Switch 2 version and a quality and performance mode setting to pick between.
01:18:08
Speaker
Pokemon Legends ZA holy shit it's running at a stable frame rate oh my god this looks incredible why has it taken this fucking long Nintendo fuck we're finally we're finally getting finally getting the Pokemon game we deserve yeah so that's getting a Switch 2 version and other games that we know we'll be getting that will will be getting an upgrade Arms, Captain Toad, Mario Odyssey, Mario 3D World, Clubhouse Games 51, Link's Awakening, Echoes of Wisdom, Scarlet and Violet.
01:18:45
Speaker
So guess what? Those might actually run great. Mario Brothers U Deluxe, Game Builder Garage, and Big Rain Academy Brain vs. Brain. Scarlet and Violet is definitely going to be the biggest one like on that list because there's a lot of people who have not played that game um specifically because of the performance or just like stop playing it.
01:19:07
Speaker
I think now that like it's going to be getting like ah an upgrade, a lot more people are actually going to see that this game is actually like really good. It just it needed any more time to cook pretty much.
01:19:19
Speaker
Yeah, and it's finally coming out of the oven soon enough.

Nintendo Console Pricing Discussion

01:19:23
Speaker
Oh, yeah. And then we got the ah hardware options to pick from the bundles. So the normal console, which will be costing $449.99 USD, or you could get the bundle ah with Mario Kart World, which we'll be talking about momentarily here, for $499.99 USD.
01:19:44
Speaker
definitely getting the bundle. Yeah, get the bundle. Get the bundle. that's ah Because game prices, which we'll talk about right now here as well, will be varying between game to game, but we Nintendo is now moving into the realm $90, $80,
01:19:58
Speaker
of um ninety dollar eighty
01:20:03
Speaker
$80 USD games. They are now moving into that realm. Mario Kart World will be getting that. we'll be getting that but Is getting that. Is going to be at $80.
01:20:15
Speaker
But um other games, which we'll talk about later, um are still set for $70 USD. um So it's going to vary from game to game, it looks like. But again...
01:20:26
Speaker
ah lot Nintendo has finally caught up with modern gaming standards a little bit. And you know with that comes price increases.
01:20:38
Speaker
Oh, yeah. So i saw that i saw kind of saw that coming. um The Switch prices, honestly, in USD, that's kind of what I was expecting the price to be. Yeah, same here.
01:20:50
Speaker
I thought like if anything, the lowest I was expecting it to be was 400. But yeah, I was like expecting to hear like somewhere between four to 500. Yeah. And honestly, yeah, no, same, same. I was totally expecting that. And you know what? Honestly, I'm OK with those prices.
01:21:07
Speaker
Obviously, being Canadian, this is like six, seven hundred bucks for us. um but Yeah. here But here's what I will say. ah At least it's not like a thousand bucks for a PS5 Pro.
01:21:20
Speaker
Oh yeah, definitely not that. So you know what? I'll give Nintendo the win over that because at least we're not charging stupidly priced for a console that, oh yeah, as long as you your monitors can match the quality,
01:21:34
Speaker
yo what you can look at things in seven dimensions and shit. Yeah. But no, it's ah I think that the price is for that is fair. And you know what? As much as the game price sucks and people have been spamming the Nintendo because they're doing their Treehouse live streams currently when we're recording this.
01:21:55
Speaker
They've been spamming Nintendo to lower the price. I'm just going to tell you, they're not. Yeah, it's unfortunately like, I'm sorry, oh but it's probably going have to stay like that. It's not. If anything, ah it might go up.
01:22:09
Speaker
And I feel like we just talk about this now since we're talking about prices. ah So in the US, pre-orders have been canceled. So pre-orders are set for April 9th for the console.
01:22:21
Speaker
however they got canceled in the u.s is no longer being no longer a pre-order on the april 9th for the u.s i believe the rest of the world is still getting april 9th they didn't specifically say that they they were changing the rest of the world so i think april 9th for the rest of the world you could pre-order this but the u.s isn't and it's because of the tariffs that donald trump has implemented And because they don't kick in until April 10th, it's quote unquote,
01:22:53
Speaker
um as to what Nintendo's statement said, they are going to assess the impact of tariffs and the evolving market conditions ah before giving the U.S. a new pre-order date.
01:23:07
Speaker
And with that new pre-order date might come a price hike for the U.S. specifically. Yeah, unfortunately. So, and to be fair, there is only, there are only two people to blame, Donald Trump and those who voted Donald Trump in.
01:23:26
Speaker
So if you're a gamer who voted in Donald Trump, I'm sorry, but this is your fault.
01:23:33
Speaker
I hate to say it, but it is, it's your fault that that that this is happening. um So yeah, it it starts April 10th, which if not dropped or changed, it could see the US getting a higher price switch as retaliation or just some adjustments to when they can pre-order it.
01:23:49
Speaker
Realistically, the earliest you guys might be able to pre-order it might be April 11th. Realistically, ah the latest you guys will be able to pre-order it might be April 31st.
01:24:01
Speaker
Or April 30th. There is no 31st. Yeah, I was like, oh, no. It's not a real date. April 31st. You're never getting it. No. April 30th, realistically, might be the absolute latest as you guys get your pre-order.
01:24:15
Speaker
um you so I still think that the U.S. s will get their pre-order in April because that gives it the two-month window still. So... yeah So, again, um that's just politics for you.
01:24:29
Speaker
It sucks, but

Mario Kart World Features

01:24:31
Speaker
you guys did it to yourself, unfortunately. is what it is, is all I can say. It is what it is, and there is no...
01:24:41
Speaker
ah but it it gives us again a chance to to get up to get to get those pre-orders faster so that the sites don't crash. Yay! The sites are still going to crash.
01:24:51
Speaker
I guarantee it. Anywhere you are, those sites are going to crash the second of the pre-orders open up. But, oh, another thing. On the My Nintendo Store website, you can, if you have your Nintendo account, you can sign up to get alerted of when the pre-orders go live.
01:25:09
Speaker
Oh, need to do that. ah So you do do that. Just do that. i did that this morning. You can pick which version specifically you want, whether just the base switch to or the bundle switch to.
01:25:23
Speaker
um And it will tell you when they will go live. ah They'll send you you an email. So do that. just Just do that. Alright, with that, with Price Talk now out of the way and dealt with, let's talk about the games, shall we?
01:25:40
Speaker
And let's start with their first party games and the first one, Mario Kart World. The newest entry in the Mario Kart franchise where they Forza Horizon the shit out of Mario Kart. It looks so good.
01:25:54
Speaker
looks great. They did the one thing i've all i love about video games, which is open world. They did that with Odyssey. I love Odyssey. Odyssey is literally like my favorite platformer ever. They did it with Sonic Frontiers, even though this is not Nintendo, but I love Sonic Frontiers.
01:26:11
Speaker
And now they're doing it with Mario Kart of all things. Oh, yes. that that This is basically like and I just feel like i'm I'm like just thriving right now.
01:26:23
Speaker
Yeah, no, it's absolutely great. ah The details we got. 24 drivers in a single race, ah which doubles the size of the races. uh in grand prix mode you'll be driving between course to courses uh and thanks to the treehouse we actually got to see how that works for basically after you're done your first race of your first course they kind of give you like this nice straight line course that you follow to get to the next course uh that you drive through the world in and that's absolutely cool looking
01:26:56
Speaker
They are adding a knockout tour, which is basically survival racing, where if you're not in X place by X checkpoint, you are done and you get knocked out. This moment looks so cool.
01:27:08
Speaker
Free roam driving. ah You can drive around the whole world. um They're adding rail grinding and wall riding. Day and night cycles and weather conditions. ah And then items.
01:27:20
Speaker
ah There's a couple new items that we got to see. The Tanooki tail makes a return. um There's a coin shell that you can throw. and there are food items that let you change a costume.
01:27:35
Speaker
i'm I'm looking forward to the costume. I already saw a lot of like the costumes and honestly costumes alone is making me want to play just like mainly Mario, which is, you know, crazy to say because, you know, you get Mario Kart, you want to play like anybody but Mario, but Mario's costumes are actually really cool in this game.
01:27:56
Speaker
Yes. ah they Mario Kart World will have a special Nintendo Direct on April 17th at 6 a.m. Pacific, 9 a.m. Eastern. And it is a launch title, so it comes out June 5th. But we also got more details thanks to the Treehouse slash social media reveals from the Switch 2 Direct Party.
01:28:14
Speaker
We got a character list, a starting

Switch 2 Digital Tech Demo Debate

01:28:16
Speaker
character list, but potentially starting character list. We don't know if it's like the full... It's definitely not the full character roster because there are things missing that we saw in the trailer that weren't in this menu.
01:28:29
Speaker
So, your character list of confirmed characters. Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Yoshi, Toad, Koopa Troopa, Bowser, Wario, Waluigi, Rosalina, and Pauline.
01:28:41
Speaker
The babies of Baby Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, and Rosalina. Bowser Jr., Toadette, Locky 2, Birdo, King Boo, DK, Uh, some new, uh, some, uh, dry bones return, bones returning. dry bones returning Uh, shy guy is there, but shy guy was shown with a costume, not base shy guy, which is why I'm like, Oh yeah, no, this isn't the full roster here.
01:29:06
Speaker
Uh, Nabbit, Wiggler, Goomba, Hammerbro, Cow. the cow The cow just showing up in the trailer just driving was so crazy. The Moo Moo Meadows cow got on a car and is like,
01:29:21
Speaker
o time And that translates to, it's time to drive, motherfucker. And costumed versions of the characters act as individual characters.
01:29:37
Speaker
That's what I'm wondering, because I know some people were saying that maybe this was only just for demo purposes, just to show off the costume.

New Game Announcements

01:29:46
Speaker
Again, that might be a demo thing where in reality, it's like when you click on a character, a drop down menu will appear with other costumes that you unlock.
01:29:55
Speaker
um Who's to say we don't actually know and we probably won't know until the directs? yeah Now, there are characters drivers that we saw in the trailer that were not in that menu that was shown.
01:30:07
Speaker
ah The Penguin from Mario 64, Crab, Bat, a ghost, and the Parabitty Bud. And there are even more the characters that were shown off that also were not in that main menu that IGN posted.
01:30:23
Speaker
There was a dolphin too. there's a Yeah, there's Larry. like So I'm pretty sure that we're going to unlocking a lot of characters um in this game and a lot of costumes in this game.
01:30:34
Speaker
ah So there's going to be a lot do. Mm-hmm. there's going to be a lot to do
01:30:41
Speaker
Then, Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour. This is your tech demo for the game console, ah which is digital only. This is basically an informational game giving many details about the Switch 2. It has hardware development and how everything works.
01:30:56
Speaker
There will be quizzes to take, many games to play, and little tech demos all throughout the game. And it's a digital launch title, but you will have to pay for it. But, thankfully, it's only $10.
01:31:11
Speaker
Yeah, I still think I still don't think that it shouldn't be a paid game at all. It should be free. And Nintendo is being a little greedy here. Yeah, I feel like that should have been like the easiest bundle in with the Switch 2 like ever.
01:31:28
Speaker
But at least it's like i will say this like as a guy who will be getting this, I'm glad it's only $10. I'm going paying for this and not more. Yeah, I'm glad it's not like a 70 or $80 game.
01:31:40
Speaker
I mean, though, I was thinking that this might be 30 or 40, which i but I would say is too much for something like this. But no, it's only 10. Thank fucking Christ. Like Nintendo, you might be greedy, but thank God you're not like fucking super greedy. But thank you. Greedy still for this.
01:31:56
Speaker
But like Jesus, like you could it could have been worse. It could have been worse.
01:32:02
Speaker
um We then got Dragon Drive. This is a 3v3 wheelchair basketball game exclusively using mouse controls. Where you'll either score points normally or you get to add some tricks into it and some style points into the mix to get bonus points. And this looks interesting, but this is definitely feeling like the arms for the console.
01:32:24
Speaker
Yeah, it definitely has that feel to it. I think it's like... When I watched the trailer, it was cool, but at the same time, i feel like it's, like, kind of like, devoid of color, and it's kind of, like... don't know. It kind of looks, like, a little bit, like, too, like...
01:32:42
Speaker
i don't know what the word is for like pale or like a little bit too black and white where it's just like, I think it just needs more color added to it. very It's very monochrome. Yeah, exactly. That's the word. Yeah.
01:32:53
Speaker
And i I did. I have made the joke of like, well, we got arms on the switch and we got no legs on the switch. of you No legs. People were like, oh, I can't wait for the switch to when we get legs.
01:33:05
Speaker
Yeah, no, we got no legs actually. uh, ah It's like, um, arms to legs missing.
01:33:16
Speaker
power Yeah. Yeah. Uh, then Koi Tagmo, uh, is working with Nintendo again to make us a brand new Hyrule Warriors game.
01:33:27
Speaker
Age of imprisonment taking place when Zelda gets sent to the past in tears of the kingdom. And we get to witness the entirety of the imprisonment war. This will drop winter 2025.
01:33:40
Speaker
I'm not going lie, when I first saw this, I thought it was like a full on like I thought it was going to be like a full on like kind of like TOTK experience with Zelda. And I was so excited.
01:33:52
Speaker
um But then I just saw it was just like another Warriors game. But, you know, it's I think it'll still be cool because I heard um the other Warriors game but based on a Breath of the Wild was really good, too.
01:34:03
Speaker
Yeah, no, I've heard they're they're good games. I mean, you either love or you don't. find the Warriors games boring. I feel like they're fun, but I feel like the whole fighting aspect of it probably gets kind of old after about three minutes. Yeah, it's very much like you pick up, you play for an hour or two, and then you put it down because it is very much monotonous gameplay loop, I find.
01:34:28
Speaker
Yeah. ah Then, Nintendo Switch Online and the Expansion Pass revealed the new edition coming for the Switch 2 exclusively... The GameCube Virtual Console!
01:34:43
Speaker
It finally happened. I can't believe it. It's real. It's real. And your launch titles that will be out available June 5th are Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, and Soul Calibur 2.
01:34:57
Speaker
Multiplayer supported games will can have up to four players locally or online, and other games that they confirmed will be coming to the to the service are Mario Sunshine, Fire Emblem Path of Radiance, Mario Strikers, Chibi-Robo, Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD, and Luigi's Mansion.
01:35:17
Speaker
um Which is cool. I have theories that if Smash Ultimate gets a Switch 2 version, they might finally release Smash 64 and Smash Melee for the NSO.
01:35:36
Speaker
Hmm. I'm hoping so. That's my theory on this. I'm definitely hoping so, you know, just more people playing melee, more people playing 64 would be awesome.
01:35:47
Speaker
I'm super excited to play. Call it. um Well, not Coliseum. already played Coliseum, but I'll play it again. But um XD XD is like the last like mainline Pokemon game I've never played before.
01:35:59
Speaker
So I'll get the actually experience it for the first time ever. XD is great. XD was my first Pokemon game. I'm replaying it right now with the XG ROM hack, which just updates things to up to Gen 7 and changes the Shadow Pokemon, adds legendaries ah that you can find in the wild, and a bunch of other shit, which is really cool. But it's going be cool to see the all my GameCube collection come to The out online service.
01:36:29
Speaker
Because I have 291 physical games, and the only one that I don't have that's actually coming to the service is Chibi-Robo. I own all those other games physically. Let's go. Chibi-Robo's available, finally.
01:36:40
Speaker
Finally. I hope that drops the price of Chibi-Robo. I really hope it does, because that game is expansive. Oh, yeah. And they are also releasing a GameCube controller for the Nintendo Switch online as well, with a C button at the top.
01:36:55
Speaker
Oh,
01:36:58
Speaker
Then, what people thought was going to be Smash 6 were we got a trailer for Masahiro Sakurai's next game. The game that he ah said in his final YouTube video for his YouTube series that he says like, oh yeah, also I'm ending the series because I'm working on a new game.
01:37:24
Speaker
It was revealed that he was working on a sequel to Kirby Air Ride, Kirby Air Riders. Oh my God. I am so excited that we are getting a sequel to Kirby Air Ride.
01:37:35
Speaker
I can't actually believe that we actually got it finally. It's been, I think, 22 years since Kirby Air Ride first dropped and we're getting a sequel. By Sakurai.
01:37:47
Speaker
By Sakurai as well. it's like ah It's like a dream come true of like, yeah I never thought this was going to happen. yeah and It comes out 2025. And I'm very excited very excited for it. And then the last first party Nintendo game that they showed off, Donkey Kong Bonanza.
01:38:06
Speaker
This is basically the Donkey Kong Odyssey ah and the big platformer for the Switch 2. A brand new 3D action adventure platformer starring Donkey Kong and his new design.
01:38:18
Speaker
It comes out July 17th. And this just looks absolutely great. Yeah, this game, like when I said um I love open world games, when I saw the gameplay on Treehouse, like that actually sold me entirely. I was like, OK, this is actually something I like.
01:38:36
Speaker
I need to get this game. This game looks so good. This game looks incredible. And those are all the first party games that were shown off.
01:38:48
Speaker
And now we've got the partner games that were all revealed. And there was a lot that they showed in this. um Some shocking, some not so shocking. ah Let's go through the list. Starting off, Elden Ring tarish Tarnished Edition. This is both base game Elden Ring and the Shadow of the Air 3 DLC all in one.
01:39:05
Speaker
This will be coming for the Switch 2. Yeah, I kind of expected this one. Yeah, I was like, I was waiting for Ellen Ring to like show off i was like, all right, there it is. Like we we I feel like we already knew like Ellen Ring was going to be on Switch too, right?
01:39:22
Speaker
Yeah, a little bit. A little bit. Hades 2 will be coming out 2025 or whenever the full version of the game does get released. It'll be out on Switch 2. I expected saw that, expected it.
01:39:34
Speaker
ah Street Fighter 6, a standard version and a year 1 and 2 version, which will feature all the DLC characters from years 1 and 2, will be coming out on launch. And Amiibo for Luke, Jamie, and Kimberly.
01:39:48
Speaker
i don't know what the Amiibo are going to but they're getting Amiibo. Yeah, this took me by surprise because I was just like, huh, I was never expecting Street Fighter 6 and I wasn't expecting Amiibo of all things for Street Fighter 6.
01:40:04
Speaker
Yeah, I don't think anybody saw the Amiibo coming for that. ah David X. Machina sequel Titanic Scion will be releasing September 5th. Split Fiction shit comes to the console on June 5th.
01:40:18
Speaker
EA Sports FC and Madden will be on Switch 2. ah Hogwarts Legacy with mouse support will be releasing on June 5th, which, okay, I feel like Hogwarts Legacy has kind of, you know, run its course, so I don't know why you want to put it on Switch 2.
01:40:38
Speaker
Fully Hawk Pro Skater 3 and 4 will be coming out on Switch 2 as well, and they also revealed that there'll be a secret SpongeBob level ah that you can access in

Switch 2 Partner Games

01:40:47
Speaker
the game. I'm not going to lie. When that's when that a few moments later screen showed up, I thought my like stream glitched and I was like, why glitch to a SpongeBob video? And then I just saw like they were in Bikini Bottom. I was like, oh, this is part of the game.
01:41:02
Speaker
Yeah, absolutely crazy. Hitman World of Assassination Signature Edition will be out on launch and IOI announced Project 007, a brand new James Bond game.
01:41:17
Speaker
got you got to put one of the goats then the n64 goes up there right you you gotta you definitely gotta uh and then what had people screaming for a potential ff9 remake but were uh wrong about because it's just like the main the the that the the female protag there looked a bit like garnet people were like Oh my God, is this the FF9 remake?
01:41:38
Speaker
ah No, it's Bradley Default's remake. Bradley Default Flying Fairy HD remaster. This will be a launch title and it looks like it's only 40 bucks USD.
01:41:51
Speaker
And then what maybe... Yeah, it's not bad. If you like if you played the original Bradley Default or you didn't play Bradley Default and well get into it, that's that's a fair price, I think. Yakuza 0 is getting a director's cut and it sounds like this is actually going to be exclusive to the Switch 2 because they haven't confirmed it's going to come to the other consoles or PC so it sounds like Yakuza 0's director's cut version is going to be a Switch 2 exclusive this will be adding 26 minutes of new cutscenes
01:42:24
Speaker
a multiplayer mode called Red Light Raid, which you have up to 60 characters within the game to pick and play as, and we'll also be getting the English dub with Yong-Yay as Kiryu again and Matt Mercer as Goro Majima and also the rest of the cast getting English voices, which is absolutely bonkers to think that that's happening.
01:42:48
Speaker
Wow. I was not expecting an English dub. Well, I mean... Neither was i But then they're like, oh yeah, no, the English dub is coming to this version of Zero. And I'm like, wait, they made a fucking English dub for this? Holy fucking shit.
01:43:02
Speaker
ah Oh my god. Like, I am surprised by this. ah Like, I'm speechless. I am genuinely speechless. ah But like what made half the internet pop off and freak out?
01:43:17
Speaker
Deltarune. All four chapters. The announcement of basically chapters 3 and 4 finally coming out um made everybody freak the fuck out. June 5th, a launch title for the Switch 2, Deltarune, will be of fully complete and available and Toby Fox can finally rest.
01:43:35
Speaker
Yeah.
01:43:37
Speaker
And then Randy Pitchford showed his face on screen and said, Borderlands 4 is coming out of Switch 2 once Borderlands 4 comes out. And I'm like, thanks, Randy.
01:43:48
Speaker
ah Civ 7 will be getting an update, an upgraded Switch 2 version with mouse control support. ah WWE 2K and NBA 2K will also be coming to the Switch.
01:44:02
Speaker
And then the North American stream crashed. Yup. And everybody freaked the fuck out of what, what the fuck, why is this happening? What, what, why?
01:44:15
Speaker
And then, um, those who were smart switched to the European stream, uh, where it didn't crash. um And we got to see the next batch of games, ah Survival Kids, which is this four player crafting survival over overhead survival game coming out June 5th.
01:44:32
Speaker
And then we got something that's actually kind of hype for people who are into the series. Enter the Gungeon 2 was revealed for the first time. and We got to see his brand new 3D art style, which is huge.
01:44:44
Speaker
Oh, that's ah that's the trailer I missed because of the crash. Yeah. um So that got revealed. Star Seeker. Your expeditions was also shown off. This is a sequel to Astro near.
01:44:55
Speaker
um That comes out 2026. Enter the Gungeon does not have a release date yet, um but it was announced. Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition releases as a launch title, and Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be leaving its PlayStation and PC exclusivity and coming to the Switch 2.
01:45:16
Speaker
That one's actually insane. That is absolutely insane, which also means that ah Rebirth will eventually be making its way to Switch 2 as well. Yeah. On the Cyberpunk thing, I did see somewhere that somebody said that the game is not running too, too well on Switch 2.
01:45:37
Speaker
mean, to be fair. Like 40 frames. I mean... That's not bad, at least. I mean, like, it's basically, when Switch 2 gets Cyberpunk, it'll be like Cyberpunk's initial launch.
01:45:50
Speaker
Yeah. With less, like, game-breaking stuff. is If it's just a frame rate thing, that's not the worst thing Cyberpunk has done.
01:45:59
Speaker
And then we got our rapid fire stuff that was just like briefly appeared on the screen with release dates and stuff. Kunitsugami Path of the Goddess will be on Switch 2 as a launch title. And then they showed Silksong Yeah, they just snuck that one in there.
01:46:14
Speaker
I don't know why they did that in the in the montage of all things. yeah Now, to be fair to be fair, we have known for a while because they did this... like this they did They showed Silksong in a montage thing a while ago. I can't remember for what.
01:46:29
Speaker
And it did just say 2025 release date. And now they just did it again. like We learned nothing new from this. like For those people who have paid who paid attention, we... like people like i know people were freaking out about silksong guys we've known silksong has had a 2025 release date for longer than you think actually like it's been like a couple of months that we've known silksong has had a 2025 release date now this just confirms that like okay they are sticking to that 2025 release date which is great but we've known about this for a while y'all just haven't been paying the fucking attention
01:47:07
Speaker
Pay attention! It's not hard! We then got ah two more 2025 releases for the Switch 2, Goodnight Universe, and Two Point Museum. Two Point Museum is out now.
01:47:20
Speaker
It just will be out later on Switch 2.
01:47:24
Speaker
ah Wild Hearts S will be coming out July 25th. Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S will be coming out June 5th. Rune Factory Guardians of Zuma June 5th. Star Wars Outlaws is surprisingly coming to the Switch 2 later in 2025.
01:47:40
Speaker
Nobunaga's Ambition Awakening Complete Edition will be coming out June 5th. Fast Fusion, June 5th. Re-Animal, when it does release, will be releasing on Switch 2. Fortnite will be available on launch.
01:47:52
Speaker
Arcade Archives 2 Ridge Racer, June 5th. Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, when that releases, will be out on the Switch 2 as well. I'm still hoping that they do a Professor Layton collection because I think that would be nice if they did that.
01:48:06
Speaker
Mm-hmm. Human Fall Flat 2 when that releases will also be out on the Switch 2. And then we got our final trailer for the Partner Showcase. And it's from FromSoft.
01:48:18
Speaker
And Miyazaki himself is directing it. It is a brand new game called The Duskbloods. Exclusively for

Miyazaki's New Game

01:48:26
Speaker
the Switch 2! so Uh-oh.
01:48:29
Speaker
People are definitely... i know people are going to be upset about that, but... Guess what? It just means that those Souls-born hardcore gamers are going to have to spend $700 plus on a Souls game!
01:48:43
Speaker
Woo-hoo-hoo! Take that, you fucks.
01:48:50
Speaker
Oh, it's okay. All the rings on there, too. Now, now granted, more details have come out about this game. It turns out that the Duskblood is going to be a PvE slash PvP game. like oh like like Like, it's player versus player and player. It's ah a PvP game, primarily.
01:49:09
Speaker
um So, what that may not interest some. It's going to depend on how well Night Rain does that this for the sales of Duskblood. Like, if Night Rain does good, i think Duskbloods, people will pay up that 700 plus bucks to get Duskbloods.
01:49:29
Speaker
And that was everything. That

Switch 1 Accessories Compatibility

01:49:31
Speaker
was showed off from for the Switch 2. two Now, after doing a lot of fucking reading and everything and finding more details, the only thing that we haven't brought up yet are the accessories. like we There were some that we had that we talked about ah So some Switch 1 accessories will work with the Switch 2, specifically the Joy-Cons, the Pro Controllers, the special NES, SNES, N64, Genesis Controllers that they made for NSO, and the GameCube Adapter.
01:50:02
Speaker
The GameCube Adapter continues to live on. and We love to see it. All other accessories will not work with the Switch 2. They also released prices for all the Switch 2 accessories, ah which hold on.
01:50:19
Speaker
I will pull up right here.
01:50:24
Speaker
Because I gotta see what the prices were. So you have the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller. You have the Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip.
01:50:35
Speaker
the Joy-Con 2 strap, the Joy-Con 2 wheels, the Nintendo Switch 2 camera, the dock set, the carrying case and screen protector, the all-in-one carrying case, the Switch 2 AC adapter, and they also have a Nintendo brand Micro SD Express card.
01:50:58
Speaker
And those are all the other accessories. As for prices for those, um the Pro Controller, $80. Joy-Cons, $90. ninety bucks The Charging Grip, $35.
01:51:10
Speaker
um thirty five The straps for the Joy-Cons, $12.99. The wheels, $20. The camera, $50. The Dock Set, $110. The Carrying Case, $35. The All-in-One Carrying Case, $80. AC Adapter, $30.

Switch 2 Predictions and Wishlist

01:51:21
Speaker
the carrying case thirty five the all in one carrying case eighty and the ac adapter thirty Those are all in USD.
01:51:31
Speaker
So those are your prices. So what were your final thoughts on the Switch 2 Direct there, Freezy? um Honestly, amazing Direct. i I personally give it like a 9 out of 10, but that's also because I really love like a lot of the first-party games there. Like,
01:51:49
Speaker
I love Mario Kart. Like Mario Kart is one of my favorite series ever. DK game is playing like Odyssey. So and that's my favorite platformer ever. So that's already looking good for me.
01:52:01
Speaker
um i don't even think they show Metroid Prime 4 out there, but I'm still going to throw that in there. Same thing with Pokemon. mean, they totally did show Metroid Prime 4 with the updated graphics with Switch 2 and everything. Oh, yeah, they did.
01:52:13
Speaker
Yeah, those are brief, but it was their GameCube coming to switch to and then like also just like other games like Kirby ah Scarlet and Violet and everything else getting updates is going to be insane.
01:52:27
Speaker
Yeah, no, it absolutely is. um No, I think the Switch 2 Direct was absolutely incredible. I think that public reaction to the price, you know what? People are going to react like this. You kind of expected it. i Nintendo's not going drop their prices. And I'm also going to say this.
01:52:44
Speaker
ah I think they're in the minority things. of pigs Because when you look at... have like and It's only recently that I really have looked at this.
01:52:58
Speaker
um The people online saying bad things about stuff are usually the minority. And I think the switch to... this like switch to like crowd or riot rioters. I'll call them, I guess, whatever you want to call them.
01:53:16
Speaker
There is but the minority. There's going to lot of people that are going to get this ah ah that day one or eventually depending on prices and shit. And it's, I don't think that it's like continue to cry out, you know, it's free speech and all that, but like not much is going change on that guys.
01:53:37
Speaker
Mm hmm. Yeah, and I always kind of have a feeling of like the loudest people are just not even getting the product to begin with. So I feel like it's just for the sake of argument.
01:53:50
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. The world is what it is. And capitalism will continue to rule that world. So, hey, unless you want to try to start abolishing capitalism to get that price lowered, um that bright those prices ain't changing anytime soon. Mm hmm.
01:54:05
Speaker
um Now, how well will this sell? That is a big question that people are asking. and I think that you know what? Obviously, you're going to have the hardcore people pre-ordering this shit and kind getting it day one.
01:54:19
Speaker
Oh, yeah, absolutely. I think that the Switch 2 is going to see like the highest thing of its sales over the holidays. Oh, absolutely. i think Strictly because of the price of the console and its games, I think this is going to be a huge holiday seller because parents going to look at this and say, okay, we're not going to get this right away. We're going to save up for the kiddo and it'll be their big Christmas present this year.
01:54:42
Speaker
I think that this is going to be a huge, huge holiday seller for Nintendo. And that is where a majority of the sales are going to be this year. Yeah, absolutely. Especially since like I know i feel like a lot of like kids got like a Nintendo Switch this Christmas.
01:55:03
Speaker
Yeah. Not not knowing that another system was coming out a couple months later. Yeah. But we at the same time, we also didn't know like when the release date was going to happen. So they they probably just wanted to get a Nintendo Switch just to play games. Yeah.
01:55:15
Speaker
and ah Now granted, GameStop has also put out a trade-up. There are trade-up prices for the Switch models that you might have. um but And like how much you'll get for them if you want to get your Switch 2.
01:55:31
Speaker
um So if you have an OLED, you'll get $175 put towards the Switch 2. If you have a Switch Lite, I think it was like $100 or $105. And regular Switch was $125. and a regular switch was one twenty five so So if you want, if you're, if you, if you shop at GameStop and you want to know what your trading values are, those are your trading values right there.
01:55:55
Speaker
And the last question I want to ask you for easy, what other GameCube titles do you want to see added? And what, how do you think they would get added? Um, so the other ones I want, I want every single GameCube Mario Party at it. So four through seven for sure. yeah Yes, I was about I was going to say, ah i think I think that's a guarantee because we did see Mario parties one through three get added to the N64.
01:56:18
Speaker
So I absolutely see four through seven getting put on in the same kind of fashion. Yep. Those ones. um Definitely the Mario sports games, like both like so now yeah Power tower Tennis and baseball. Baseball and definitely Mario Golf. Mario Golf's like my favorite Mario sports game.
01:56:37
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, no, I think though i think that I hope what they do with the Mario sports games is they they just put all those on at the same time. um That would be great. um I think Air Ride will come close to Air Rider's release.
01:56:52
Speaker
Yeah. I also want to see what's the game? Melee, of course. Melee, yeah. Like I said, they I think that if they reveal and here's what I think about Smash, if Smash Ultimate gets a Switch 2 enhanced version, here's what I think is going to happen. I think they're going to add like with the enhanced version,
01:57:15
Speaker
They'll have two or three new characters put in the game with that upgrade and then have a new fighter pass added. Yeah, that's probably my guess if they do if they decide to do an ultimate re-release.
01:57:29
Speaker
Yeah, that is what I think realistically will happen. um So Smash players start smoking that that hopium and the copium because you're going need both.
01:57:43
Speaker
um and I'm looking at my collection right now trying to see any other ah games that they might try to put into the system I hope that Sega comes to the table with some of their GameCube games Billy Hatcher Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Adventure DX and Monkey Ball Monkey Ball 1 and 2 and Adventure maybe Riders Sonic Riders possibly yeah o I'm hoping, ah oh yeah, one last one I'm hoping for is a Double Dash.
01:58:16
Speaker
e Double Dash would be cool to see too, yeah. And also ah Wave Race, Bluestorm, and 1080 Avalanche I think would also be good additions. Oh yeah. And we could see both Metroid Prime 1 and 2 come to the service.
01:58:30
Speaker
Oh true, how did I forget about those? Oh, we're forgetting Star Fox Assault. Oh yeah, Star Fox Adventures and Assault. That would be great to see as well. Bring back Star Fox.
01:58:43
Speaker
There's so many good games on this on the GameCube. There are so many. i that And I own almost 300 of them. So good. Very good. All right.
01:58:54
Speaker
Well, with that, I think that's enough Switch 2 talk. um Pre-orders April 9th. and Everywhere but the US, it sounds like. Again, sign up to the My Nintendo Store, ah log in with your Nintendo account, and sign up to get to receive the email when the pre-orders go live for for the version of the console that you want.
01:59:17
Speaker
With that, it's time for us to move into the bonus level. Crazy lists, great deals, and recapping gaming history, it's all here in the bonus level.
01:59:28
Speaker
And

Podcast Wrap-up and Future Episodes

01:59:29
Speaker
getting you off the bonus level today, we have a brand new segment that we are starting here on the Season 9 Game Clash. This is a small eight-game tournament um with a specific theme each episode.
01:59:43
Speaker
And today's theme of our tournament is the Mario Sports Games. So it's freezy. I'm going to be basically I've read my well, okay, with this one, I did it. Randomize the seeds and put the games in a random order.
01:59:58
Speaker
um They do kind of have a theme going through them, but then the winners of match one and match two will go head to head. Match three and match four will go head to head. And then the finals to determine the big winner. and All of this is by your decisions.
02:00:11
Speaker
Are you ready? I'm ready. All right. For match one, Mario Golf Toadstool Tour versus Mario Golf Super Rush. So I love both of these games. I think Super Rush is awesome.
02:00:23
Speaker
But Toastal Tour is my favorite Mario sports game of all time. So it's going to Toastal Tour. All right. Mario Strikers versus Mario Strikers Charged. oh Um, I'm have to give it to Strikers because I've legitimately only played one game of Strikers Charge, so I don't even remember playing it, but I keep hearing that how great the game is.
02:00:44
Speaker
i still need to play Strikers Charge one day. All right. Mario Superstar Baseball versus Mario Super Sluggers. This one is a tough one. They're both amazing.
02:00:56
Speaker
Um... I would probably have to give it to Superstar Baseball. Really? Yeah, I love sluggers, but Superstar Baseball is like, I got some like amazing memories of that, like playing all the time like with me and my cousins like whenever I would go visit them.
02:01:15
Speaker
Wow. I am more keen towards super sluggers myself because I love the story mode and how ah you recruit the players through that and everything. ah I was, but I do enjoy superstar baseball too, but wow. Okay. Okay.
02:01:30
Speaker
And lastly, Mario power tennis versus Mario tennis aces. oh I'm gonna give it to Mario power tennis. Okay. All right. All right. Now we move on to the next round.
02:01:41
Speaker
Toadstool tour versus strikers. I love Strikers, but this is Toastal Tour. I got to give it a Toastal Tour. That game is just so mechanically like well done.
02:01:53
Speaker
All right. Superstar Baseball versus Power Tennis. Hmm.
02:02:00
Speaker
I'll probably have to give this to power tennis, actually. Power tennis. I put a lot of time in the power tennis, especially the side games. I played that game so much. going All right. All right.
02:02:13
Speaker
All right. Grand finals. Toadstool Tour versus Power Tennis. Well, it it's going to feel kind of underwhelming after it's like after I said it was my favorite Mario sports game of all time, but I have to give it to Toadstool Tour still.
02:02:29
Speaker
Mario Golf Toadstool Tour is the winner of the Mario Sports Games Tournament. Give it up for Toadstool Tour. but solid game solid Solid game. I need to go back and play that. and Please play it. It's so good.
02:02:44
Speaker
i want to i want to play that I want to play that again. i might go play it later this weekend. Who knows? let's go off all right Moving on. This week in gaming history, um we are redoing this segment a little bit.
02:02:58
Speaker
ah We are now limited limited limiting um Because i use the same site for everything but that that I get this history from. So we will be limiting um maximum of 10 game birthdays an episode and ah up to three major events an episode.
02:03:13
Speaker
Because we've gone through like the whole like the the whole year of the calendar with this like twice now. So we are going to be limiting this segment to a bill bit shorter going forward.
02:03:23
Speaker
Uh, in major events, April 13th, 1983, Atari signs a long-term agreement with Williams Electronics, giving Atari first refusal rights to Williams coin operated games for home video games and computer games.
02:03:37
Speaker
And in game birthdays, Dr. Mario 64 on the 8th turns 24. Super Paper Mario on April 9th turns.
02:03:49
Speaker
Love that game. 20. Nope, not 20. Hold on. 10, 11. Mix that. Plus 5. 16. Mental math.
02:04:01

02:04:54
Speaker
ah Both turn 17 on the 20th. Amazing games. Please play them. They have a great story. ah Now it's time for Tony's game poll. We have a new question this season ah and it's time for us to unveil it and what will be tallied at the end of the year.
02:05:16
Speaker
ah Freezy for our game poll this season. What franchise deserves a brand new game in 2025, 2026 that has not been announced? What game series deserves a new entry?
02:05:31
Speaker
Oh, it's going to sound really obvious, but I think 3D Mario. So next Super Mario game, because the last one we had was if you count it, Bowser's Fury, which kind of like felt like a tech demo ish.
02:05:47
Speaker
It's not like super long. But if you don't count that, it's been since Odyssey. So we've ah we've been that without a 3D Mario since 2017. All right. they Yeah, we definitely need one of those.
02:06:00
Speaker
All right. That is fair. Your deals of the week, starting off with your epic free games. Cat Quest 2 is free until April 10th. Very good game. Go play it. Go play that in Cat Quest and Cat Quest 3. Go play the Cat Quest games. They are fantastic.

02:06:53
Speaker
ah If anything, i have to recommend my favorite game of all time, but this time the remake of it, ah Paper Mario, the Thousand Year Door on the Nintendo Switch. If you've never played that game, experience the Switch version. The Switch version is, I think, like the definitive way of experiencing that game.
02:07:11
Speaker
Like everything from just the emotion, the the way the characters, like ah facial expressions, the music, everything, like the mechanics, the game is just so good.
02:07:23
