Welcome to Tony's Game Lounge, a bi-weekly podcast that covers everything in the world of video games, TCG, tabletop and more. Here's your host, Tony 14.

Guest Introduction: AF Wagers

00:00:21
Speaker
Hello, everybody, and welcome back to another brand new episode of Tony's Game Lounge. I am your host, as always, Tony14, and joining us this week, returning guests we have not seen in, I think, about three years-ish, Sonic speedrunner, Sonic content creator, and overall great guy, AF Wagers.
00:00:43
Speaker
Hey, thank you for having me. Thank you. Well, welcome back, Wagers. How have you been?

Mario Kart World Critique

00:00:49
Speaker
I've been great. I've been great. You know, keeping busy, you know. Excellent. A lot of stuff has happened that we'll be talking about further on in the podcast with our topics of the day. ah But first, since it's been a while since you've come on, ah we get to start with hot takes um because last time you got to give us all your favorite games and stuff. But now we got hot takes. So wagers, what is your hottest video game take?
00:01:17
Speaker
Ooh, that's a good question. My hottest video game take. Hmm. Yeah, that's a tough question to ask, you know. But ah I guess the biggest take, I know that sounds so biased, but Mario Kart World doesn't seem like it's all that.
00:01:32
Speaker
You know what? I kind of agree with you. Yeah, I mean, I got to play it at one of these conventions. I don't have a Switch 2 yet, but I got to play at one of these conventions, and honestly, I was not impressed, you know? It felt kind of slow and, you know, just uneventful, a lot of open dead space.
00:01:49
Speaker
um And I know this is very biased because I have a Sonic guy, but Sonic Crossroads during that last beta, just just playing that felt so, like, exhilarating, you know? Now, I didn't play the beta of Cross Worlds. I do have the game pre-ordered, though, and I am ready for ah when the game does drop. I think I even pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition because it's just like I want to get all the DLC characters because like everything they show for the DLC so far is like, wow, that's a huge Nickelodeon collaboration with all a majority of the DLC plus Minecraft.
00:02:25
Speaker
It's just it's it's great. One of the craziest DLC lists I've ever seen or a Sega kart racing game. Mind you, they really ah they really went to crossroads, you know, and they really emphasize on that name.
00:02:38
Speaker
they They really are. And we'll be talking more crossroads later. So we'll definitely be sharing more of our thoughts on that down the line. But ah for your for the hot take,

Nintendo Direct Highlights

00:02:46
Speaker
I do agree. Like, world isn't a bad game by any means it's still like a good game but it's definitely lacking for a Mario Kart game like I got it at launch obviously because like there wasn't much else for the switch to at launch aside from that $10 Nintendo switch to tour and my god that is not worth $10 yeah
00:03:13
Speaker
It is not worth $10. It is ah like, I think if you're really, really, really into like the technical side of like how technology works and is built, I think you'll enjoy, it get an enjoyment out of that.
00:03:26
Speaker
But other, if you're not, if that's not you, then it's definitely a very, very, very niche $10 game. And if it was free, I think I wouldn't bitch about it that much.
00:03:37
Speaker
Anyways, speaking of Nintendo, our headline of the week is the latest Nintendo Direct, an hour-long Direct, one of the longest ah in history, and also the first real Nintendo Direct for the Switch 2 era, because as we know, the previous Nintendo Direct was the Switch 2 reveal, so it doesn't really count.

Super Mario Galaxy Movie Announcement

00:03:59
Speaker
This is the first real Direct of the Switch 2 era, and it was...
00:04:04
Speaker
All right. Like there were some good highs. There were some lows. Nintendo's in a very weird state right now, but going over what was announced, they start off with Mario's 40th anniversary.
00:04:19
Speaker
So happy birthday, Mario celebrations are kicking off and a majority of the stuff will be happening. Next year, i starting with the Nintendo Museum is getting a brand new whole like Mario artwork exhibit in the museum ah to celebrate 40 years.
00:04:37
Speaker
ah Nintendo is taking part in the Kyoto Marathon with having their logo on the race bibs. And Mario, they said that Mario is going to show up, so they're probably going to have a guy in a Mario suit ah be there on the day of the marathon. Yeah.
00:04:51
Speaker
and they're probably go to have a bunch of Mario characters there. they Maybe they'll have Mario run like the first section of the race until all the racers have like passed by the big man in his suit. Because I don't think he would get very far, honestly.
00:05:05
Speaker
or Or if they have like somebody cosplaying Mario just in a Mario like onesie or whatever, then sure, you could have him run the marathon. that that would That would be cool, too. ah Then they show off the first teaser for the brand new Mario movie, the Super Mario Galaxy movie is coming out spring 2026. And all the cast is that all the main cast is back aside from Seth Rogen as DK as DK probably just won't be in the movie at all because, you know, it's.
00:05:35
Speaker
Mario Galaxy. DK wasn't even in those. And it looks cool. Looks clean. What are your thoughts on it being the Super Mario Galaxy movie? Oh, man. I'm super excited. There's so much opportunity for so many cool things they can do.
00:05:48
Speaker
I'm excited to see who they're in a cast as Rosalina. Yeah, that's the big thing. is who is they did it because They didn't say they had a voice they probably do have a voice actor for Rosalina considering like we're only a couple months away from this.
00:06:04
Speaker
uh, like at least four or five, three, four, five, at maybe six, seven, it actually. So actually there is some time still, uh, but it is going to be interesting who they cast as Rosalina because with the way that they've been casting, it will probably be a bigger name celebrity over like somebody that we don't really know.
00:06:25
Speaker
Who do you, who would you like to see as Rosalina? I know there's rumors for Anne Hathaway. Anne Hathaway, right? Anne Hathaway, yeah. that's yeah there's That's a good one.
00:06:36
Speaker
Yeah, there's rumors for her. I could see that happening. I feel like Rosina needs like a soft voice. A soft voice that can get stern if she absolutely needs to. yeah Anne Hathaway is actually a good choice. i would have never i ah You see, I have no clue who they would cast, but I would i would get on the Anne Hathaway bandwagon

Mario Galaxy Re-releases for Switch

00:06:55
Speaker
for that. so I would get on for that. do do you think... Who do you think is... Because we also know that Yoshi, with the end of how the first Mario movie ended, that Yoshi will make some appearance in this as well.
00:07:07
Speaker
Do we think that Yoshi's going to have like a unique voice actor that they're going to have just to make Yoshi sounds? Oh, man. I mean, they have to have Yoshi sounds for sure, but Yoshi's definitely not talking. Oh, yeah, no.
00:07:19
Speaker
I think... You know what would be funny if... If they got Vin Diesel to just make the Yoshi sounds and it's just like Groot, he only says Yoshi.
00:07:32
Speaker
Yoshi. I can see that that that. That would be funny. I think that would be, that's the funny cast. I think they'll probably cast like, I don't even know. They might not even cast somebody for Yoshi and just use who, uh, did Charles Martin, give us Yoshi?
00:07:49
Speaker
I'm not too sure to be honest, but I feel like he might've, but, And Charles Martinet will probably voice ah extra characters in this movie like he did for ah the mario the first Mario movie as well.
00:08:00
Speaker
um It only makes sense. So very excited to see what the movie will bring. um Excited to see more yeah because I think this is probably one of Illumination's best movies that they have ever put out ah with the Mario movie. So excited to see more for the Mario Galaxy movie.
00:08:18
Speaker
Then we get into their games that they're releasing for Mario's 40th. And because we're getting a Galaxy movie, they show us that they're re-releasing Mario Galaxy and Mario Galaxy 2 in a bundle for the Switch.
00:08:33
Speaker
It releases October 2nd, but the digital versions of the game games can be bought separately. So if you do have the Mario 3D All-Stars collection, ah you can just buy Mario Galaxy 2 digitally in your...
00:08:48
Speaker
Saving 40 bucks essentially because it is like an $80 game, 40 for each game roughly. They are adding new storybook pages into the first Mario Galaxy games.
00:09:00
Speaker
And they are also releasing Mario Galaxy Amiibo, one for Mario in the star shooter and one of Rosalina reading to the Lumas. And what these do, it was actually just revealed recently in a overview of video ah The Rosalina amiibo will give you a one-up, and the Mario amiibo will give you a life-up, giving you ah the three x the the mushroom that gives you three extra health.
00:09:26
Speaker
That is all the amiibos will do in the game. ah You can also use a regular Mario and regular Rosalina amiibos to do the exact same thing. They are also adding an assist mode into the game where you'll just get um the extra free health overall.
00:09:41
Speaker
And if you fall out of bounds, they'll just return you to the most recent platform. So at least that's good for the those the young gamers who aren't very great at platforming yet.

40th Anniversary Mario Games & Merch

00:09:53
Speaker
um They're also releasing Rosalina's storybook as a real product, um releasing on November 25th. It will not, however, feature the new pages that they have added into Mario Galaxy to continue the storybook.
00:10:06
Speaker
I mean, it's... My thoughts on this, it's cool to see, you know, Mario Galaxy back, but because of this releasing, it almost makes the Mario 3D All-Star collection obsolete.
00:10:22
Speaker
Because while that was a limited time game that people spent money on, you can play Mario 64 on the Nintendo Switch Online N64.
00:10:33
Speaker
We'll soon be able to play Mario Sunshine on the GameCube on the Switch 2 GameCube service. And now we have both Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 releasing, not as a timed release.
00:10:47
Speaker
It's just going to be there forever. So why should I, if I owned the game still, because I sold mine a while ago, why should I still own this when I can play all of them for essentially two of them for the price of the Switch online membership and the other two for 80 bucks?
00:11:08
Speaker
So really, like, ah for $100 or so, give or take, you get all four of those 3D Mario All-Star games. what What are your thoughts with the Galaxy re-releasing?
00:11:19
Speaker
To be honest with you, I think it's kind of crazy that the re-releasing Galaxy 1 and 2 for $80, I think it's absolutely insane. um Because I know back in the day when they remade...
00:11:31
Speaker
um Galaxy for the Wii U, like through the port I made, but they ported over the U. It like $20? Yeah. It's different now with how it's... so it's so why it's so different now that with how it's ah like i wish that we could still like old these older nintendo games like sure it's mario sure we know it'll be it's money making for nintendo but like 80 bucks for this like i think if this was do you think if it was 60 it would be better think i think 50 4999 i think that's yeah reasonable i think that i think that would be more reasonable
00:12:10
Speaker
Honestly. So that's that was the big one. or The big one. That was the big Mario game. There are no ah spoiler alert. There's there was no talk of any new 3D Mario game for the Switch 2 yet.
00:12:23
Speaker
We still have no new details. on that. So, um but the other two games looked all right. ah The second game they showed off Mario tennis fever, um the new Mario tennis for the switch to they've added a bunch of new footwork. So slides, um new fancy animations for hitting the ball and all that stuff.
00:12:43
Speaker
The gimmick this time around is fever rackets, which each with, which when you fill up the gauge will offer various effects. 38 characters, the biggest tennis roster to date, and 30 fever rackets to pick from.
00:12:58
Speaker
There are, for game modes, tournament mode, the trial tower mode, a mix it up mode, which is just like funky ah field ah hazards and stuff.
00:13:10
Speaker
ah Trial Towers is like objectives and challenges to these. Online mode is both casual and ranked. ah Swing mode for if you want to use those motion controls. And in adventure mode, which probably revealed the most hype thing ever, Baby Waluigi is finally real.
00:13:27
Speaker
As we got to see Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Baby Peach. Baby Wario, who, while Baby Wario is a very niche baby to have, has been in the Yoshi Island games before. But Baby Waluigi makes his first ever official appearance in this game.
00:13:45
Speaker
And it comes out February 12th, 2026. two thousand twenty six So more tennis to look forward to. We then got a Switch 2 version announcement for Super Mario Bros. Wonder, plus meetup in Bella Bell Park, the new stuff that's being added.
00:14:00
Speaker
um Bella Bell Park is essentially a collection of multiplayer co-op and competitive minigames. There's also going to be new story or main mode content featuring Captain Toad and the Koopalings.
00:14:12
Speaker
um who were obviously absent from the main game, but honestly, i don't think they needed to be part of the main game. um But cool to see the Koopa League coming back ah with, I guess, the newer designs now that were on the Switch 2 era.
00:14:27
Speaker
And that'll be releasing sometime spring 2026. Then they revealed more marketable merchandise. They turned to the talking flower into a Furby. essentially is the best way to put it.
00:14:39
Speaker
The talking flower is now a marketable toy coming out spring, 2026. And the reason I say is like a Furby. It'll talk to you anytime. So if you're just sitting in your room doing nothing and all of a sudden it just starts talking.
00:14:53
Speaker
Yeah, that's what, that's what I mean. It'll, it'll do that. And then finally for the Mario 40th anniversary, they revealed a Yoshi game, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, which is, it looks so cute, so cool.
00:15:11
Speaker
ah Very, very reminiscent of the OG Yoshi Island, Yoshi story style.

New Switch 2 Game Announcements

00:15:18
Speaker
um You're basically going through stages, learning what all the creatures can do and discovering that to fill in the contents of the book.
00:15:26
Speaker
um And there is a Switch 2 for the Switch 2, a Spring 2026 release. um Overall, were your final thoughts on all the other Mario things there, Wagers?
00:15:39
Speaker
um I think that the talking flower is going great. yeah I wake up for work. Let's just start singing to me. ah you you you know it would be It would be cool if you could pair it with the Alarmo.
00:15:52
Speaker
Oh, yeah. that That would be a cool thing. A cool feature that um for those who have the, what is it, like $300 Alarmo? I think that's how much it went for.
00:16:04
Speaker
Maybe $200. I don't remember. But if you can pair it up, that would be ah thatd be a cool feature, going to lie. It'd be like the new Alexa. but thats I'm sure people could re-hardwire that, the flower to make it, to have it become a Alexa probably actually. i We're going to see some crazy things happen with that come next year. So very excited to see that.
00:16:27
Speaker
ah But from that they that, the Mario segment took up the first 20 minutes of the show. And then we got into the first part of the Switch Direct, the Nintendo Switch titles.
00:16:39
Speaker
ah where they revealed Storm Lancer, which is out now. Dinkum, which is going to a timed console exclusive for the Switch on November 5th. Pop UConn, which releases holiday 2025. And then we got a new trailer for Tamodachi Life, Living the Dream.
00:16:55
Speaker
We got to see a bit more of the Mii creator. um When it comes to seeing the relationships between your Mii's, you'll actually see their statuses and like what their rank is. And there's going more info coming in the future. We didn't really get to see a whole lot, um but we do know we have a now a window release of Spring 2026.
00:17:14
Speaker
twenty twenty six We then go into the Switch 2 games that are coming out. Some might be Switch 2 exclusives. Some might be Switch 2 and Switch 1 releases. Starting off the moral combat legacy collection will be coming to the switch and switch to, and they also gave a release date, which I don't think we had before for it.
00:17:35
Speaker
October 30th, the game will release digitally. December 12th, the game will release physically. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will release on the Switch 2 January 22nd, 2026.
00:17:47
Speaker
Linked Banner of the Spark is now out now for the Switch systems. And then, super hype for indie game players and also just fans of 80s, 80s 2 1.0 will officially release on September twenty yeah And the Switch 2 will get it first for consoles as well, which is very exciting. I loved Hades 2. I played the early access stuff. It was one of my favorite games that I played last year, one of my top 10 games that I played last year.
00:18:18
Speaker
So very excited that the 1.0 final product is ready to go later this month. And that means that Hades 2 could be put up for Game of the Year considering Hades was put up for Game of the Year.
00:18:32
Speaker
So we could see a stacked Game Awards which with half the games full of indies. It is very, very possible, which is very neat and very exciting to see.
00:18:43
Speaker
ah We then got ah some news on Kirby Air Riders Amiibo. ah Two of them that we know of right now, Kirby on the Warp Star and Waddle Dee on the Wing Star. And just like smash bros in a sack, as Sakurai loves amiibo is what we've come to find out from this.
00:19:00
Speaker
And he has a very particular system when it comes to these amiibo, we, the return of figure players are coming to Kirby air riders, where if you pop the amiibo in, you can train them to be good at racing.
00:19:15
Speaker
ah But you need to think about these Amiibos as you can mix and match the riders and machines. So Waddle Dee and Kirby can be taken off of their stars and put onto the other stars. so if you want Kirby on the wing star, you can absolutely do that.
00:19:30
Speaker
More Amiibos will be released or revealed later on. My best bet is that there's going to be amiibo for each rider that they have in the game and each star that they have in the game. And it might have two additional amiibo for the Dragoon and Hydra.
00:19:47
Speaker
Because if this game doesn't have the Dragoon and Hydra, I will be match. Because you got to have those. You got to have them. They also revealed that Sakurai will be back sometime later this year um before the release of the game ah for a second Kirby Air Riders Direct.

Revival of Nintendo's Virtual Boy

00:20:04
Speaker
um We also got a brand new trailer for Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment, which revealed a Korok fighter that we get to play as. The Zonai devices used in combat at a release date of November 6th.
00:20:16
Speaker
And then out of nowhere, trailer for Dragon Quest VII Reimagined. This is now the fourth game but of so for the fourth Dragon Quest game that's being remade um as we got Dragon Quest III HD last year.
00:20:31
Speaker
And we're getting Dragon Quest and II HD 2D later this year. um We're now getting Dragon Quest VII Reimagined February 5th, 2026. ah which is interesting. I'm definitely going to maybe try to play that. I love, I love Dragon Quest.
00:20:48
Speaker
I just need to play more of the games because I've only played Dragon Quest 11 and 11 is, ah in my opinion, one of the best RPGs ever made. um So very excited to see that. They then went quickly into the Nintendo today app. They're like, Hey guys, we're adding a Kirby theme. Cause you know, we're releasing new details about ah Kirby air riders every day. So be sure to check, take a peek.
00:21:11
Speaker
And then NSO, the Nintendo Switch Online plus Expansion Packs new edition. People were thinking, oh, are they going to do a new Sega console like the Saturn or the Saturn? Because they already have the the Genesis. And I don't know if they would do a Dreamcast one. They might.
00:21:31
Speaker
It would be cool if they did a Dreamcast one. But Nintendo rounding it up. They're bringing back the console that almost killed them.
00:21:41
Speaker
Virtual boy. It's coming back. um It requires the new virtual boy accessory or the cardboard version of it, which will probably be cheaper. um They are bringing 14 classic games to the, ah over across the span of ah probably the year.
00:22:02
Speaker
um to the service and it launches February 17th, 2026. So if you want to see red and nothing but red a three d space because your eyes are so goddamn close to the screen to make it work, go ahead, play some Virtual Boy.
00:22:22
Speaker
it's It's so weird. This this one is funny and weird that the Virtual Boy is the thing that they're bringing back. But in ah in a way, it kind of makes sense because it ah the it's the last, ah aside from like the Wii, but like from the GameCube prior, they now have every main console on the Nintendo Switch online service.
00:22:46
Speaker
but what do What are your thoughts on this one, Wagers? What do you think of the Virtual Boy? i never grew up with the Virtual Boy. was before my time. Yeah. but But the thing is about the Virtual Boy is it confirms that we're going to ah we can get accessories for the and NSO, which it means, if you really think about it, they can make an accessory for a second screen for a DS emulator.
00:23:10
Speaker
Oh, wait, you're right. Yeah, that opens up that possibility. So that's my what the god what I'm excited about is the possibility of that. Okay, actually, you know what? That... Oh, I didn't even... That... on You know what, Nintendo?
00:23:27
Speaker
You know what? they might They might be cooking, actually. They might actually be cooking.

Third-party Game Showcases

00:23:34
Speaker
Because if they did that, Nintendo... Oh, Nintendo would... Oh...
00:23:40
Speaker
Oh, I'm excited now. I'm excited because that's a very real possibility. That is such a great point. Holy shit. Yep. Okay. um Well, after that reveal, we then went into more headlines. Fatal Frame 2 Crimson Butterfly is getting a remake, releasing early 2026. Then they rapid-fired off a couple... ah Third-party games that are getting Switch 2 editions.
00:24:05
Speaker
One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 for the Switch 2 will release fall 2025. Overcooked 2 will release holiday 2025 for the Switch 2 version. One Piece Pirate Warriors, I think it's just like frames and shit will be better.
00:24:18
Speaker
Overcooked 2, they're adding the face cam feature will be ah the big thing. Stardew Valley is getting a Switch 2 upgrade. And according to Concerned Ape, that upgrade will be free if you already own the Switch 1 version of Stardew Valley. So based Concerned Ape, unless you're in Japan, because it's actually what he what he was asking about that, you actually can't in Japan.
00:24:45
Speaker
The upgrade cannot be free. which is an interesting thing to learn. um But he said that he's making it in Japan the cheapest it could possibly be. So based Concern Ape, the Stardew Valley Switch 2 version will be adding mouse controls and then Human Fall Flat, which will be which the Switch 2 version will release in 2026, alongside five new stages that they're adding into the game.
00:25:10
Speaker
ah It just timing works out really great there. We got another trailer for Powerwatch Simulator 2, which we'll be releasing on fall 2025. And then the return of the streamers puzzle game about fruit, except now it's circular.
00:25:28
Speaker
Suica game is back with Suica game planet coming out winter 2025. For those who missed the Suica game hype a couple of years ago. Now, basically it was a game about making fruit and making, making fruit bigger.
00:25:44
Speaker
they, said and now there is a sequel and now it's circular. So instead of it being like a dropdown, like Tetris and using physics and stuff like that, you're now shooting things into the middle from all sides of a circle ah To make the watermelon.
00:26:00
Speaker
So. ah we That'll probably make the rounds on Twitch. Once that comes out. um We then got a. Very nonchalant. ah Trailer for Metroid Prime 4 Beyond.
00:26:13
Speaker
Which now has a release date. Of December 4th.

Donkey Kong Bonanza DLC

00:26:18
Speaker
alongside this, uh, in the trailer, we got to see Samus ride a fucking motorcycle across this vast desert, which is probably going to be what connects all the stages to together is you go after you exit, like from wherever the game starts, you'll get the motorcycle. And then that's how you get to the various areas of the world through this giant, uh, open world section.
00:26:40
Speaker
ah looks really cool. You're going so fast as well that like, a lot of people are saying it looks so barren and so empty. I'm like, I don't mind that with this because i think it works for the world of Metroid.
00:26:53
Speaker
um And also it's, you'll be, you'll encounter a couple enemies here and there. across this wasteland but it's not nothing like it it doesn't need to be a whole lot because you're going so fast anyways I don't think it will matter too much in the end of things They're also releasing in Metroid Prime 1 through 3, a visual retrospective, which is essentially like an art storybook coming out October 28th.
00:27:22
Speaker
um And then some Amiibos as well, the Samus Amiibo and Samus and Viola, which is the name of the motorcycle Amiibo. Both of those will be releasing November 6th, a good month before um the game comes out in December.
00:27:35
Speaker
And then Psylocke will get an Amiibo on December 4th when the game releases as well. Then Donkey Kong Bonanza is getting, well, has received DLC, ah DK Island and Emerald Rush DLC, um which adds the new layer Donkey Kong Island, which ah throwback to the N64 DK Island, and the Emerald Rush DLC, which adds the Emerald Rush mode, a roguelike mode where you collect emeralds, they get power-ups to help you get more emeralds and new stuff.
00:28:07
Speaker
And you unlock your abilities by recollecting the Banandium gems. um You start on DK Island, and then as you progress through the mode, you can go to the other layers to play the mode as well.
00:28:18
Speaker
ah It is out now, and it's ah about $20, which I think is okay if you're going to put like a lot of time into it.
00:28:29
Speaker
But I think they could have gone with like a $10 DLC for this as well. um Have you played Bonanza Wagers? I have not because I haven't gone to Switch 2 yet. Oh, so okay. so yeah ah yeah So what what are what your thoughts on this specific DLC for the game?
00:28:48
Speaker
If I'm being honest with you, I'm trying to stay spoiler free. So I'm trying to best not look at the trailers. um But... The fact that this game did so well is really, it makes me so happy because Donkey Kong deserved it like another 3D Donkey Kong game. And the last one was what?
00:29:07
Speaker
Donkey Kong on the 64? Yeah, Donkey Kong was DK's last like foray into like the space. 3D space. ah yeah i like his old foray into the three d space Yeah, and I think the fact that this is made by the same people who made Odyssey, right?
00:29:22
Speaker
Yes, it is. Yeah, that this game, um the visuals, and I heard it's very satisfying when you break those blocks. i just Once I get my hands on the Switch 2, and the fact is, is I'm waiting for like a custom

Pokemon Direct & New Evolutions

00:29:34
Speaker
Switch 2. I'm trying to wait for like a nice theme.
00:29:36
Speaker
And next year, I believe, is the 40th anniversary of Zelda. Oh, is it the Zelda anniversary too? Oh, shit. Wait, it might be Zelda 40th.
00:29:48
Speaker
ah but Yeah, it is! oh my God! yeah Yeah, so next year is the fourth anniversary. So I'm thinking there's... They're going to make something for Ocarina Time, you know, maybe like some kind of Ocarina Time remake, which has been rumored.
00:30:03
Speaker
So if get Ocarina of Time Switch 2, that's where I'm saving my money for. Because once that gets... Because I believe with the Switch 1, we got a custom switch when Let's Go Eevee and Pikachu came out, right? We got a bunch of... I think pretty sure Let's Go had a custom switch. Splatoon had a custom switch. Yeah, but the first one had... Animal Crossing.
00:30:22
Speaker
The first one to have a custom was Pokemon. I think so. Yeah, and that was seven months after release. So I'm hoping that if they do an Ocarina of Time remake, they do it for the spring or the summer of next year. so we'll be able to buy like a Switch 2 that's custom themed for that game.
00:30:39
Speaker
So I bought the Switch 1. I bought it on release date. And I feel like was missing on all the cool designs. So I'm trying to stay patient and just wait until... And hope that the Switch 2 gets some cool designs. Yeah, because I really like I missed out.
00:30:51
Speaker
No, that's that's that's fair. That's actually pretty valid. Damn, it's going be a loaded year for Nintendo next year as well, celebrating Mario's 40th. And they might as well put a mario um but special Mario 40th Switch 2 out as well, for all we know.
00:31:06
Speaker
That could be a thing they do as well, but I think it is very likely that whatever they do for Zelda's 40th, there will be a special... I hope there's a special Switch for it.
00:31:17
Speaker
We then go into the Pokemon block with ah the Nintendo Direct, and well we got two games showed off. The first brand new title, Pokemon Pocopia, which asks the question, what if Ditto was a human?
00:31:33
Speaker
And what if Pokemon combined elements of Minecraft and Animal Crossing into a Pokemon game? but as Well, that's what you get. You get Pokemon Pocopia, where you terraform the land, craft things, and get Pokemon pals to live with you.
00:31:52
Speaker
that That's what you get with Pokemon Pocopia. It's a weird one, to say the least. ah It comes out 2026, and hopefully we'll see more details at a later time. Then we go into Legends CA.
00:32:05
Speaker
um Now, before the directs happened earlier, like we had predicted in the last episode, Mega Malamar was revealed as we had predicted with all the stuff that they were doing with all the...
00:32:18
Speaker
All with the sudden love for Malamar about Mega Malamar is real, but we did get three more Megas revealed during the Legends ZA trailer. Mega Chestnut, Mega Delphox, and Mega Greninja were revealed. The Kalos starters finally get their Mega forms.
00:32:37
Speaker
However, The caveat is that the Mega Stones will only be obtainable through the ranked multiplayer mode. So you got to rank.
00:32:48
Speaker
I don't know what you'll have to rank to to get it as a reward, but you'll have to rank up in their battle league. I believe is what the mode was called to get those Mega Stones specifically season one, two and three to get the three Mega Stones.
00:33:04
Speaker
People are not happy about that. But maybe Pokemon will change their minds. Probably not, though. And have put another way in with the amount of backlash that they're going to get for that. But, like, who knows?
00:33:17
Speaker
um October 16th is when that releases. And then they tease the paid DLC for Legends ZA. Before the game even comes out, um we will be getting paid DLC for the game. It is called the Mega Dimension DLC.
00:33:31
Speaker
It's going to feature Hoopa in some way, shape, or form. So I have to get it because Hoopa is the only Pokemon that isn't in my Pokemon Home Living Dex. So I'm obliged to get that because I only need Hoopa.
00:33:45
Speaker
ah But the Mega Dimension will be featuring a bunch of new Megas that we don't even know about. And they revealed Mega Raichu X and Y, both of which are going to be pure electric types. But there's the there's the new Pikachu edition for Mega.
00:34:03
Speaker
this ah brand new game because of course they got to give their mascot everything ah with ah so with all the new stuff so congrats Raichu on the Mega Evolution on the two Mega Evolutions joining the ranks of both Mewtwo and Charizard for getting two Megas what are your thoughts on all the new Megas wagers um This is the first game that's going to have Mega Greninja, right?
00:34:30
Speaker
ah Yeah, this will be the debut of Mega Greninja. Yeah, that's all I've been wanting because fun fact before Z8 got announced um X and Y holds a very special place in my heart back in the time um there was a big gap between X and Y and black and white 2. Yeah, it was like a two year gap.
00:34:47
Speaker
It was a much longer gap compared to like all the other releases of Pokemon. And it broke the tradition of a spring release, which I'm still upset about to this day. i remember as a kid, every spring release we used to get ah Pokemon game and whole incentive was to go outside and play Pokemon.
00:35:03
Speaker
And I remember when I was a kid, all my neighbors and i got together, play Pokemon outside, and it was like the most fun most fun times my childhood. And then they broke the tradition by making it a fall release, which is okay. I get it because they want to get like, so you know,
00:35:17
Speaker
Christmas and all the holidays and get those events going on. Yeah. But at that time, I kind of fell out of Pokemon for a bit. And x and y came out in the fall and I did not even touch it. I was not interested said at all. My brother is also a huge Pokemon fan.
00:35:36
Speaker
So Christmas rolled around three months after the release and I got Pokemon Y for Christmas. I was 13 years old and that same Christmas we were going to Florida driving from New York. So if you don't know what that this is distance is like, it's not fun. It's about 24 hours of driving.
00:35:52
Speaker
so Yeah, so I was like, you know, let pop this into my 3DS and let's play some Pokemon Y. And I fell in love with it The entire car ride there at the timeshare and then driving back, all I did was just play Pokemon That game means so much to me.
00:36:08
Speaker
I remember there was like a crazy cloning glitch I used to do. i remember enjoying the GTS system they had and... Oh my god. So they were supposed to do a Pokemon Z, I believe, but then canceled it and just used to plot the show. Remember? Yeah. it's I don't know if it was like ever confirmed that they were like ever working on a Pokemon Z. A lot of people speculate. It's like, oh, X, Y, obviously there's going to be a zd And especially like when you know we when you go out and you find Zygarde out in the world after to the fact. It's like, oh, there's definitely going to be a Pokemon Zed.
00:36:45
Speaker
And we never got it. And then they put Zygarde's... They put, like, not his Mega, but his um big big form in ah Sun and Moon, which is where you collected the Zygarde cells. It's like, huh?
00:36:59
Speaker
yeah Yeah, but it just makes no sense. So the day before this direct, I was like, you know, was my friend Trevor, I'm like, you know, I really want... a sequel to X and Y. We never got it. And then the next day they announced Pokemon Z. So I am very excited and I cannot wait for this game. And that's also what's going to kill me about waiting for a Switch 2 special edition.
00:37:21
Speaker
Like if they made a special edition Switch 2 with ZA, would have gotten that instantaneously. Yeah. they While they are doing a bundle, it isn't like a special so it's not like a specially designed Switch for it, unfortunately.
00:37:35
Speaker
I think that's a missed opportunity. I think they totally could have. ah scroll but they shut The and Violet Switch is by far i like the best design we've ever gotten in in ace in a Switch. yeah I think they could have done it. I think they could have given us like some green like ah colored Joy-Cons um with it. Like I think it's a missed opportunity.
00:37:53
Speaker
Yeah. It's like Pokemon Y. feel like the color of Zygarde is mainly black with accents of green. Yes. So they have done a black switch. would work perfectly with the Switch. to without They could just replace the inside colors instead of red and blue, just replace that with green.
00:38:09
Speaker
yeah And then made the Joy-Cons with a green little um piece by the joystick and then add some more designs. Like little Zygarde lines. stuff with that The Zygarde hexagons. Yeah.
00:38:20
Speaker
They could have done that, but alas, they just have the bundle. ah But still, I'm excited for ZA. I cannot wait to play it. I want to add one more thing.
00:38:32
Speaker
yeah I'm also very excited for Mega Hawlucha. Oh, my. Yeah, Mega Hawlucha looks sick, honestly. I love Hawlucha. Gen 6 probably my favorite generation of like new Pokemon. i like there were so many like notable new Pokemon that really made an impact into the series.
00:38:49
Speaker
It's just Aegislash, Hawlucha, Greninja. There were so many... Sylveon, so many great new Pokemon. I hope in 10, Gen 9? and this genn and gen ten we're know je nine but gent ten going We're going into Gen In Gen we better get and new evolution I think it's very likely. I think that we're at a time where it's very likely that we could get a new evolution.
00:39:15
Speaker
The question is dragon dragon would make sense. I think that what we might see is like, maybe we give Evie like, ah like ah it's normal evolution.
00:39:27
Speaker
Uh, and then, so and and then another element, A normal evolution could be cool. Yeah, like, what if Eevee wasn't given a stone? or and Or, like, what if Eevee was, like,
00:39:39
Speaker
like you you give ah the shiny stone. That's what it is. If you give Evie the shiny stone that evolves into its normal evolution, because that's the only stone that Evie that's out

Japan-exclusive Nintendo Direct

00:39:49
Speaker
that Evie has. It doesn't have an evolution with.
00:39:52
Speaker
And then for whatever your new elements, Evie you do something else. Like maybe you change Sylveon to knowing a fit evolution to knowing a fairy move and evolve it by day.
00:40:09
Speaker
evolve it with friendship at day and then you change ah the new one to Eevee knowing whatever the type move is and then friendship at night so that way it's like oh if I want Umbreon I just can't have this type of move in its thing when I make it friendship at night sort of like how with Espeon it's like okay cannot know a fairy move friendship day so maybe you do that ah with whatever the new Eeveelution type will be I think i would be, I would be all for that.
00:40:38
Speaker
Cause Evie is my favorite Pokemon of all time. ah Specifically, I'm beyond an SB on our, our my favorites, but you know, because they come from Evie, Evie is my favorite too. So excited to see as excited, excited to see, especially because like, we are also celebrating Pokemon X D's 20th anniversary, like very soon as well. So,
00:41:01
Speaker
give us Give us some Eevee stuff. and Come on. Yeah, some Eevee stuff would be so be are amazing. ah We then go it back into more headlines. Danganronpa 2x2 was revealed. This is an HD more like i was just a remaster of Danganronpa 2 plus a what-if story added with vi different victims and culprits for the game.
00:41:26
Speaker
And my PTSD is growing growing full of both despair and hope. like I gotta to play another Danganronpa game. Great. Thanks, Mike Chunsoft.
00:41:38
Speaker
Dynasty Warriors Origins will be coming to Switch 2 on January 22nd. ah DLC will also be coming to the game for all versions of the game on the 22nd as well.
00:41:48
Speaker
um We also got a brand new trailer for Monster Hunter Stories 3 Twisted Reflections, which releases March 13th, 2026. And then we go into the sizzle reel of rapid fire games.
00:41:59
Speaker
Two Point Museum comes to the Switch systems October 28th. Disgaea 7 completes on October tenth EA Sports FC 26 on September 26th. Dragon Quest 1 and 2 HD 2 the remake October 30th.
00:42:12
Speaker
Virtua Fighter 5 Revo World Stage Winter 2025. LEGO Voyagers, which is out now. Little Nightmares 3 October 10th. And Persona 3 Reload October twenty third We then got a new-ish trailer for Resident Evil Requiem.
00:42:29
Speaker
Comes out February 27th, 2026. But also, Resident Evil 7 and 8 will also be releasing on the same day with their Switch 2 versions. And the last reveal of the show, a brand new Fire Emblem, Fire Emblem Fortunes Weave, which has ties somehow with three houses as Sothis makes a cameo at the end of the trailer.
00:42:58
Speaker
So it's tied to three houses some way, either in the world that we're going to or in a piece of the story somehow. The game releases sometime next year.
00:43:10
Speaker
And that was the Nintendo Direct, if you watched the North America stream. Because the japan only the Japan version of the stream was actually much different and showed off a good handful of games that weren't in the North American Direct.
00:43:25
Speaker
With the biggest one being Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection. which is huge because it's Mega Man and people have been wanting new Mega Man or like, you know, a news of Mega Man and they're hungry for it.
00:43:39
Speaker
Well, the Star Force games are getting a collection and they'll be releasing sometime 2026. What was also shown off in the Japan Direct, a Hike Northern Lights released September 18th. was actually out now.
00:43:52
Speaker
Atelier Resil... Resiliriana, the Red Alchemist and the White Guardian released September 26th. ah Just Dance was somehow in the Japan Direct and not ours, which is funny because it's like, oh, we're always going to see Just Dance in these directs, which we did see one in the North American one, but they put it in the Japan one.
00:44:12
Speaker
Very, very funny. octoberwe October 14th for Just Dance. Once Upon a Katamari, October 24th. Tales of Xelia remastered October 31st. Disney Miraness Fitness.
00:44:26
Speaker
This is from the people who brought the rhythm boxing games. It comes out December 11th, and so far, it's Asia only for what we know. Oba Keidoro 2, which is a Japan-only release, December ah With the virtual ah Virtual Boy, they are getting one additional game, making it 15 games coming to the Japan NSO for the Virtual Boy. Virtual Fishing is the game that we're not getting, apparently.
00:44:55
Speaker
Shape Hero Factory, which is out now. I don't know if the which North American Switch version has that, but the game is on Steam and it's out. Momotaro Dentetsu 2, Anata no Machi Mo Kito Aru cubs that is it comes out in Japan November 13th.
00:45:11
Speaker
ah Yakuza Kiwami and Kiwami 2 for the Switch 2 November 13th. Inazuma 11, Victory Road to November 13th. And they also showed another ah or the same trailer for Octopath Traveler Zero coming to December fourth And that's what was in the Japan Direct exclusively.
00:45:27
Speaker
i a lot of people are mad that they didn't put the Mega Man trailer in the Nintendo, in the American one, because I think people would have popped off for that. Because people love Mega Man, and Mega Man has not been getting much love.
00:45:40
Speaker
Capcom, please tell me you're cooking something up. imagine Imagine a 3D Mega Man game. That would be interesting. It would be interesting. i don't know how well it would work. I mean, well, we've we've seen a 3D Mega Man game with the Mega Man Legends, which with this Star Force collection, the only Mega Man games now that actually aren't on modern hardware or accessible through like current gen hardware are the Mega Man Legends games.
00:46:07
Speaker
So people are theorizing now that the Mega Man Legends collection will be the next thing that Capcom reveals for Mega Man before we get new Mega Man potentially. Because with this, we now have the base Mega Man games, the Mega Man X collection, Mega Man.exe collection, and now we have the Star Force collection.
00:46:26
Speaker
So all that's left is Legends. And then we have every Mega Man brought to modern hardware. So very possible. But that was the Nintendo Direct. Wagers, what what final thoughts about the Direct? How would you rank this Direct compared to others? Or what what what is your final ranking of this Direct?
00:46:42
Speaker
Overall, I give it probably like six or seven out 10. um I personally, I don't really, I'm not really big into Fire Emblem. So ending off a Fire Emblem, I can see it'd be exciting for other people. But for me personally, am more excited for Kirby Air Riders. So seeing some more information about that. I'm also an Amiibo collector and it's been months, months since we've gotten any information on Amiibos.
00:47:06
Speaker
Or Amiibo, sorry. And um it's just so unfortunate with the prices of these of these new things. I know some people are complaining about that, but you have to also think about it.
00:47:17
Speaker
Back of the day when they were $12.99, they were pretty simple looking and not like the greatest design and detail. So now they're getting bigger and they're getting more detailed. So it's become more of like a statue item over like just like a collectible toy, you know? Yeah. Yeah.
00:47:31
Speaker
Now, also with the rise of Amiibos, because ah the Air Riders Amiibos both cost $50 each according to the prices. ah This is also, I feel like it's also this way just because of real world events, cough, cough, the tariffs that are causing these prices to go up because they got to ship them in. So,
00:47:54
Speaker
You know, that that's probably why these are up. So that's just the unfortunate reality that we all have to face with when it comes to like physical merchandise. um and The price is going up for that stuff.
00:48:07
Speaker
um For the time being, at least. ah Come another three years from now, prices might go back down and we'll all be living happy again. But who knows? Yeah, but the Tears of the Kingdom Amiibo went on sale for $19.99. Oh, see? Yeah, it's still still going on sale too.
00:48:22
Speaker
um Which is why a big thing is... Again, don't fear the FOMO folks. Stuff will go on sale. There will still be inventory as long as, you know, we keep the scalpers at bay at the end of the day.
00:48:37
Speaker
um But I would agree with you. And the direct was, I would say a solid seven for myself. um There were some cool things. i was not expecting Danganronpa to get announced. that was that That was my big what the fuck moment, I guess, from the direct. But overall, it was a solid direct.
00:48:53
Speaker
I wish that they had shown us an actual new, or at least teased that a new 3D Mario was in the works. Yeah, it's just something. Because obviously, i think they if they were to do a new 3D Mario, they probably would have the team behind Odyssey work on it again, just because of how well Odyssey was and with how well Bonanza's doing.
00:49:13
Speaker
It just makes more sense to have that same team focus on the 3D Marios going forward. So um that's my big thing that I feel like was missing. And like, i don't know. I feel like would nice to have like something from Mario Kart World of like, hey, ah free update or here's Mario Kart World. We're adding a special thing for Mario's 40th.
00:49:32
Speaker
You can yeah remember Mario. Remember long I took with them just to make DLC for Mario Kart Deluxe? Yeah, fucking 10 years after the fact. Yeah, crazy. ah Yeah.
00:49:44
Speaker
So, i yeah, we're probably not going to see anything on Mario Kart World until that 10-year gap or until they realize, oh, the game's not selling because it's, like, boring. Let's spice it up finally and get people back to playing the game.
00:49:59
Speaker
But I digress. That was the Nintendo Direct. um That was the majority of the news in these past few weeks, but there is still a couple more things to cover, and we'll dive into those with the week in review.
00:50:12
Speaker
Recapping the major stories of video games and the world of tabletop, looking over recent releases and reports from the Game Lounge crew, it's the week in review. and some of the major games that came out these past two weeks, we had Garfield Kart 2, All You Can Drift, adding on the list of many kart racers that are coming out.
00:50:31
Speaker
ah Borderlands 4 released, LEGO Voyagers, Dying Like the Beast, Tola and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree, and Trails of the Sky First Chapter. So, ah hey, if ah you need something to hold you over before Sonic Cross Worlds, because Mario Kart ain't doing it for you, go play some Garfield Kart for the weekend.
00:50:49
Speaker
but su ah who Who knows? Maybe that'll be fill.
00:50:56
Speaker
And to kick off the video game news, more Nintendo. ah Nintendo and the Pokemon company have been granted a patent related to the Pokemon series, which could pose a quote, fundamental threat to creativity and innovation in the games industry. End quote.
00:51:12
Speaker
According to a new report and analysis from a patent lawyer, ah As originally reported by Gamesfrey, U.S. patent number 12,403,397 was filled in by but in 2023 by Nintendo and the Pokemon Company.
00:51:28
Speaker
And it was just granted approval um by the U.S. patent trademark office on September 2nd without objection. That patent covers the gameplay mechanic of summoning a character and letting it fight another.
00:51:40
Speaker
In other words, your standard Pokemon battle. The reason that this goes but they probably had this Fast Tracks approved or it got approved is it's all because of the the lawsuit with Ollie Powell World right now.
00:51:53
Speaker
it Will this actually affect anything else for people who want to make like monster catching games? Probably not. Hopefully not. It's very much, we're going to wait and see.
00:52:05
Speaker
was i feel like once this whole Pal World thing is over and done with, Nintendo will stop caring. Hopefully. yeah um Because i I would hate to have people who want to make, like obviously, monster-catching, taming games that use similar elements to Pokemon to be affected by this too, because those are a subgenre of game, and you know you should just because you have like the patent for it ah doesn't mean you should you know strike everything else as bad for that, because it does not help growth within the industry, and it makes you a public enemy. So hopefully...
00:52:42
Speaker
they it's only used this Palo World thing and we never have to see or deal with it ever again. Hopefully. Borderlands 4 has put out an official beer.
00:52:53
Speaker
It's an IPA for Voodoo Ranger, so go enjoy that if you are a beer enjoyer. um Apple's brand new gaming app, Apple Games, is now available on Mac and iOS 26 compatible devices.
00:53:06
Speaker
The dedicated hub is bringing some long requested features to Apple Arcade users and allows Mac users to watch every installed game from one app ah instead. Slay the Spire was delayed to March 2026, and Bellotro's 1.1 update was also delayed to next year as well.
00:53:23
Speaker
ah In Ubisoft news, the crew is once again alive thanks to ah the crew unlimited, which is a fan made revival of the game that's been in works for over a year and a half is a server emulator with both offline and online modes because Ubisoft shut down all servers for the crew and are in court or were in court for that.
00:53:44
Speaker
ah But thanks to the crew unlimited, it's back alive. So for those who do want to play the original crew, you can again, I think only on PC. I don't know entirely actually how it fully works.
00:53:56
Speaker
um But do go check that out if you want to play the OG crew game once again. Netflix in 2K first announced an adaptation of Bioshock way back a couple years ago, 2022. But the producer has now given us the tiniest tidbit of information.
00:54:13
Speaker
We are going to be in Rapture. It won't be. ah So it's going be a, we're going to be taking the faithful Bioshock one adaptation. ah So look forward to that Bioshock fans, because we're not seeing any Bioshock news slash news about Judas for a while. Still ah pain, suffering.
00:54:34
Speaker
I want to play Judas so bad, but I can't because they pushed back the release date. It was supposed to come out this year in March. The new Sims 4 expansion, Adventure Awaits, releases October 2nd, adding it expanded expanded childhood content, new activities, and systems to flesh out the younger Sims more, giving them games to play, formative moments, and...
00:54:57
Speaker
potentially imaginary friends coming to the Sims. So now you can build your Sim imaginary friend, which is, I think that's funny.
00:55:09
Speaker
Like a building a Sim that only one person can fucking see. And then they go out and do their own lives too. That would be hilarious. So new stuff for Sims lovers.
00:55:22
Speaker
In more movie news, the indie horror game that fought back against Monster Energy's trademark trolling and won is being made into a movie. ah Deadline reports that Glowstick Entertainment has inked a deal for its survival horror game, Dark Deception, to be adapted into a feature film by indie production outfit, So It Goes Entertainment.
00:55:43
Speaker
ah In Uma Musume news, ah for those who have been enjoying the Racing a horse gacha game, which has an anime and, you know, the first real, it first real like part into the West.
00:55:56
Speaker
ah Racehorse, Haru Urara, who never won any of the hundred of races that she was ever in, has passed away at 29 years old, which in horse years equates to about 90 years in human years.
00:56:12
Speaker
So rest in peace, Haru. You will be missed dearly by all the people who believed in you. Witcher creator, Andrzej Sapowski, received a gold Polish culture medal um in a surprise shadow drop of a game.
00:56:28
Speaker
Bop It! The toy now has a $10 video game on Steam, Switch, and mobile devices. wow I'm not joking.
00:56:39
Speaker
That's crazy. You can now bop it in a video game and all it is is the bop it. The mobile game makes sense though. Mobily, it makes sense, but the fact that it's on Steam and Switch... I mean, Switch kind of makes sense with the mobile aspect of it, but on Steam, I mean, it must be great for the Steam Deck users.
00:57:01
Speaker
This is a great time for Steam Deck users because now they can bop it on the Steam Deck. Bop it. Twist it. Push it. Pull it.
00:57:12
Speaker
Oh. but but ah With the ah RGG Summit around the corner, next week actually we'll be covering it, full details in the next episode, Ryugaga Toku Studio accidentally put the words Kawami 3 on their website before hastily taking it down, and the fans are going rabid for potential that we're getting Yakuza Kawami 3, which I'm excited for because I think of all the Yakuza games...
00:57:41
Speaker
Yakuza 3 needs the Kiwami treatment because I do not like Yakuza 3. I think it's the worst of all the mainline Yakuza games gameplay wise.
00:57:53
Speaker
So having it get the Kiwami treatment would be much appreciated. But we'll know more next week. ah Lastly, in the headlines, Jackbox Party Pack 11 has a release date of October 11th.
00:58:06
Speaker
ah The five games featured are Doominate, Legends of Trivia, Cookie House, Hearsay, and Suspectives. ah So look forward to that. October 11th. Wait, no, I think I put that date wrong. I think it's the twenty third Hold on. Let me double check. Sorry. October 23rd, Jackbox Party Pack 11.
00:58:24
Speaker
I think it's because I mixed up because it's Party Pack 11. I'm like, oh, October 11th. Sorry. October 23rd, Jackbox Party Pack 11 releases. In your ongoing game news, with the Hoyoverse some news, Paimon from Genshin Impact was added as a cosmetic to Among Us.
00:58:43
Speaker
So go be sus as Paimon, I guess? I don't know. yeah Shoutouts to all the people still playing Among Us, I guess. um Among Us is coming to Fortnite.
00:58:55
Speaker
It I thought it was already in Fortnite. They're adding the but dance and stuff like that. Oh, fun. Oh, boy. Can't wait.
00:59:07
Speaker

00:59:56
Speaker
Hacker Slumber releases October 24th. Billion Bullet releases later in October. And the Tamer's Evolution Box Rise of Digimon comes out in December. And that is everything in the week in review. Any final thoughts on any of those stories, Wagers?
01:00:10
Speaker
Yeah, so Jackbox, I'm, okay, I've been playing Jackbox since I was about 15, 16 years old, going back to the original first Quiplash. And i kind of stopped around like nine or 10 when they made like a third or the three Juvie Mario parties now.
01:00:27
Speaker
ah it's It's two trivia murder parties currently, but there is a third one coming next year. Wow. ah yeah As a standalone. Yeah, i i used to play a lot of Jackbox with the family.
01:00:42
Speaker
um recently I recently haven't put as much, but maybe playing Jackbox 11 will get me back into the series. But I am still and technically a big fan of the series. And I actually got to go to a panel for Jackbox back at PAX East.
01:00:54
Speaker
And I got to hear the guy, hey, it's Schmini here. Oh. ah The guy from, yeah, yeah. And ah got to watch him do a live panel with his voice and seeing ah live was just, oh my God.
01:01:07
Speaker
That's cool. Personally, my favorite game though is Patently Stupid. It's so much fun. Patently Stupid is a great one. It reminds me of like Empathical Jokers when they have to like make up like some presentation.
01:01:19
Speaker
you know exactly that's exactly just exactly what it is. I love Patently Stupid, one of my favorites of all time. Hands down, hands down. ah Yeah, very I'm very excited for that. Obviously, i'm I'm personally very excited for the RGG Summit.
01:01:32
Speaker
ah We'll be covering that next episode, so hopefully we'll have brand new Yakuza news and also the new game that they are working on as well. ah With that, um it's now time for us to dive into all the games that are coming out within the next two weeks.
01:01:47
Speaker

Speaker

01:02:43
Speaker

01:02:55
Speaker

01:03:41
Speaker
And on the third, Borderlands 4 Switch 2 Edition comes out, and Digimon Story Time Stranger comes to the PS5, Series X, and PC. A lot of stacked games this time around.
01:03:55
Speaker
ah lot of big hitters. um First, I just got give a shout out to probably the funniest name of all the games. Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 1 Reraptored.
01:04:06
Speaker
Shout outs to that. Whatever that game is, shout outs to that for making me laugh when I had to read that. I definitely want to check it out just because like, what the fuck is this game about?
01:04:19
Speaker
ah As for your big releases, we start on the 25th. Three huge releases. Obviously, Hades 2 1.0. Fantastic. Silent Hill F for all the horror enjoyers and for the Sonic enjoyers like us, Crossworlds releases.
01:04:35
Speaker
ah Again, more Crossroads details and talk coming soon. ah On the 26th, the remake for Pac-Man World 2, which we know is also going to be getting Sonic DLC.
01:04:48
Speaker
i am a huge Pac-Man World 2 guy. I played that so much growing up on the original Xbox, and I cannot wait.
01:04:59
Speaker
I'm excited too. I actually owe i still i own a physical copy of the GameCube version of Pac-Man World 2. ah It's sitting on my shelf. I am looking at it right now. Sitting beside Pac-Man ah Fever. ah so excited I'm excited for that because I'm also playing through the first Pac-Man World repack on PlayStation.
01:05:19
Speaker
so I'm excited for that one because I probably will play it eventually. Yeah, I definitely, definitely you get it. And the fact that we're getting Pac-Man DLC and then he's going be in Sonic Crossroads, oh. So I've been wanting Pac-Man in a racing game for so long. Ever since the Dave & Buster's demo, oh man.
01:05:36
Speaker
have you ah Have you ever played the Pac-Man racing game? I have not. I have not. I think it's it's around the same era of like OG Xbox and GameCube and PS2 probably.
01:05:48
Speaker
can't remember the exact... I think it's Pac-Man... World Rally, I think is what it's called. i don't I sold my original copy of it years ago, so it's still one of the games I need to get back into my collection.
01:05:59
Speaker
But it's actually a solid kart racer from what I remember. um So, maybe hey, maybe we'll see Pac-Man re-enter the racing foray with a remake of that down the line. I mean, we're we're kind of getting a piece of that with him coming to Crossroads, actually. I love that Crossroads also crossplay, by the way.
01:06:15
Speaker
Yeah, it is. Lovely. mean, honestly, I feel like if it wasn't cross play, then calling it cross worlds would be a disservice. Mm hmm.
01:06:26
Speaker
Mm hmm. On the 30th Lego party for those who want Mario party, but Lego form, I guess ah if you're a fan of Final Fantasy FF tactics, even at the Chronicles of the remake of tactics, look forward to that fully voice acted.
01:06:42
Speaker
i will be playing it just not right away. ah because I do love Final Fantasy. I will be playing all the games very soon. I'll probably play it when I'm actually doing my playthrough of all the other Final Fantasy games.
01:06:53
Speaker
So I'm excited for that. Nicktoons and the Dice of Destiny. I'm intrigued by this. It's on my PlayStation wish list because I'm hoping it could emulate so what the old Nicktoon games could do.
01:07:07
Speaker
So hopefully it'll be good. The combat seems very simple with it just being like a open world beat them up type game. So hopefully it'll be all right.
01:07:19
Speaker
Ghost of Yote. I'm super excited for that. I am going to purchase that. i don't know if I'll be purchasing it right away, but I'm going to get it and play it this year. So I'm excited for Yote. um But my big game that I am super fucking excited for it over the moon for is Digimon Storytime Stranger.
01:07:37
Speaker
I am so hyped for this game. I love Digimon. I love Digimon. I love Digimon story, Cyber Sleuth and Hackers Memory.
01:07:52
Speaker
And I'm just excited to play. I am purposely not playing the demo because I want to hold off until the full release because it's just like as much as I want to play the demo and I could get ahead by like 90 minutes and like have it transfer but over the data.
01:08:06
Speaker
i I just want to play it when it comes out. I don't want to play the demo. I just want it. is I want it. i want my boy V-Mon. i want my boy Imperial Dramon.
01:08:16
Speaker
i want my boy Submarimon. We're getting the armor Digivolutions are back. We're getting over 450 Digimon in this game. The most in any entry of the over 1,100 Digimon that exist.
01:08:32
Speaker
Like, I am so excited this game. I never really got into Digimon, but growing up, I used to watch the show a little bit. Yeah, the show is great. The games, the best way to put them actually is it's very much just like maybe like a bit more like advanced Pokemon, honestly.
01:08:49
Speaker
Like instead like catching the Digimon, all you do is you battle them. You get like a percentage of like them scanned. The more of that Digimon you battle, the second reaches 100%, you can then create that Digimon, put it in your party, or you can let it go to like 200% and it'll come out stronger.
01:09:06
Speaker
And you digy you can digivolve and de-digivolve. And that's like a big thing of like, oh, I want my Patamon to digivolve into Lusimon. But I need my Patamon stats to be like super high. So I got digivolve him all the way up to this thing.
01:09:21
Speaker
Then de-digivolve him back. And I should be able to digivolve him into Lusimon or whatever like that. It's really cool how they do the digivolutions. um So if you're ever interested, like the the Cyber Sleuth games are a great place to start and they go on sale a lot for like six bucks.
01:09:39
Speaker
So if you're ever interested, it's a great starting point. I mean, Time Stranger is also going to great starting point, but like i don't the game won't go on sale for that cheap in a long while. What did the games like? never really got into them.
01:09:52
Speaker
ah Very story focused games, turn based RPGs. Gotcha. Gotcha. Yeah. Yeah, you with ah with element types like Pokemon and a small weapon triangle um like Fire Emblem of like, oh, this beats this, this beats that, and that beats this.
01:10:10
Speaker
But it's like a Digimon could yeah be be one. ah is There's not like a lot like with the way Time Stranger is going. It's more like it's a lot more like Pokemon now with like how like the types and elements that they can be.
01:10:26
Speaker
um But like with ah Cyber Cyber Sleuth games, it's more like, oh, it could be one of three types. And then its element is this. And the elements then follow like fire beats plant, plant beats water, water beats fire, electric beats wind, wind beats earth, earth beats electric, and then light and dark beat each other.
01:10:48
Speaker
um And they're essentially just expanding on that to make it more... i Have you ever played a Persona game? i a little bit I play a little bit of Persona 5. Very a little bit. Not much, though.
01:10:59
Speaker
It's is's essentially with where they're going with ah how Digimon will work in Time Stranger. It's more Persona-like, where each Digimon will have like a type of like data, vaccine, or free, or virus, or whatever like the seven types are now.
01:11:16
Speaker
um And then it'll have and ah it'll be an element as well. And then it'll be weak to... like Like, let's say it's an ice type Digimon. It'll be weak to like fire um and like something else unique to it.
01:11:29
Speaker
um And that's what that Digimon is weak to. So sort of more like persona where it's like, oh, this persona is weak to this and this. Sort of like that now. If that makes sense. If I did a good job of selling that or explaining that. Yeah.
01:11:43
Speaker
Okay. That's essentially what Time Stranger is going into a little bit. um But i I'm still, I'm very much excited for this game. um I, I'm, let's go Digimon. Well, with that, it's now time for us to dive into our main focus of this week.
01:12:03
Speaker
ah Here's what we're talking about this week in the game lounge. Conversations of past and future games, the state of the gaming industry, how big decisions affect gamers and anything else that's important to us.
01:12:14
Speaker
Here's what's going down this week in the Game Lounge. and Kicking it off, we're talking Sonic stuff. A lot of Sonic stuff. i The game talk will come a little bit later in this topic, but we're starting off.
01:12:26
Speaker
Wagers has been a very busy man. Almost a year ago now, Wagers, you hosted a speed running event for Able Gamers called the Sonic Extravaganza.
01:12:39
Speaker
How was that? How did it go? How was the event? What was it to make that event? Tell us everything. So the event was fantastic. It was great time. So for those who don't know what the Sonic Extravaganza was, basically the Sonic Extravaganza was a speedrun marathon very inspired by GDQ, but with Sonic. So imagine a Sonic Block, but the entire event is that.
01:13:00
Speaker
And we had multiple speedrunners across the Sonic community doing speedruns, and we raised a lot of money for charity. And was my first ever time producing an event, but like...
01:13:13
Speaker
as a sole producer. So it was great to have friends and a lot of fans together to help, you know, raise money for Sonic, you know, or i'll raise money with Sonic. yeah i Yeah. course All the money is going to Mr. Sonic. himself No. so As Casinoapolis, he steals emeralds.
01:13:32
Speaker
they is True. True. true ah That's awesome. how but How much did you guys raise for the event during the event? We raised $500. Hey, let's go. that You know what?
01:13:43
Speaker
ah For a first time event like that, that's still pretty sweet to have that raised. That's awesome. Thank you. ah So who what who did who did you get all involved with the event? um How easy? What were some difficulties that you had with it?
01:14:02
Speaker
Were there any difficulties? What went great? What went... what what What could have been worked on? So the hardest thing about the event was honestly just communicating to people. And luckily, I have a lot of friends in the Sonic community who were willing to help me out and stay on top of things.
01:14:17
Speaker
So I crewed a bunch of people who are good at being a polite pest, if that makes sense. Again, people that do what they got to do in a specific deadline. So I had friends conducting editing, and I interviewed a lot of this talent.
01:14:30
Speaker
We had people like Stelmo, who was on GDQ for Project 6. We had Emerald, Savik, Argic, and our hosts were Edelbe and Kung Fu Fu Cup who were also GDQ veterans. And the event was just so, ah so much fun.
01:14:45
Speaker
And i would also say the hardest part was doing the entire broadcast kind of by myself live. Like I was... basically operating the video switcher while posting on social media.
01:14:57
Speaker
So that was a little overwhelming for me. So and I think next time, because I want to do a second one, the next one going to probably try and see if I get some more social media people. gets' Yeah, get some people behind the scenes to help you out with... So that way you can focus on just running everything and have like the one or two people in the back posting everything. Exactly, exactly. Yeah, no, that's that's definitely... Doing everything solo, I mean, hey, props to you, Wagers, because I don't think I could do like something that massive by myself.
01:15:28
Speaker
like I'm grateful enough to have like a group of friends that... are are like are like who have my back when it comes to setting up stuff like that kudos to you for like getting that doing that like and just yeah they would sleep so ah thankfully people were willing to help out you know I had like 25 people in and total that helped with the event so it was pretty good yeah it was great I had an assistant director who helped Make sure everything was getting done time. So shout out to Addy for helping me out with that. um And then I had video editors helping out with the with interviews and stuff like that. So it was just, you know, it was it was a good learnings ah a good learning experience for myself. A good learning experience to make it better the second time around.
01:16:10
Speaker
oh Now, you said you do want to do it a second time. Do you have like a roadmap of like when you want to try to get it off the ground for a second time around? I wanted to do the summer, but I honestly might do the winter this time just because very busy right now in between jobs and I'm looking to maybe do it in the winter when everything's a little quiet in between like, gd in between like, think AGDQ is in the January. So yeah, AGDQ is in the January season and then summer SGDQ in July. Yeah. So I'm probably trying to ah before then.
01:16:46
Speaker
Okay. Well, that's very, very exciting. Super, super cool that you got to do that. And, you know, just do it for, you're doing it for a good cause. And yeah you got, you've got you you got, you got an end a result at the end of the day, which is awesome.
01:17:02
Speaker
um So kudos to you for that wagers. Like, thank you. Thank Fantastic. ah You also were at Static Expo 2024 in Dallas as part of a panel.
01:17:13
Speaker
What was that like? How, how was that experience? Oh, man, that experience was something else. You know, i got invited to go to Texas to do a panel, and it's my first ever time going to Texas. So got the experience at all, you know, the food, the type of people, you know, very nice people.
01:17:32
Speaker
And so at this panel, had a lot of friends watching, a lot of passion for the game, and so being able to spewing that live she with an audience. It was just something else.

GDQ Online 2022 Experience

01:17:44
Speaker
Cause the thing about GDQ is that I was, that was online. So I didn't get to actually have a real audience for that. Yeah, I guess. Yeah. It was, it was 2022 when you did that. It was the online one. So yeah, there was no audience. It was all, digital fuck. I completely forgot about that. Yeah. That was during COVID era. So yeah to have a live audience and hearing people clap and like, you know, it's just, I just, it's just a feeling that you can't experience until you do it, you know?
01:18:09
Speaker
That's awesome. How did the run go, by the way, that you did do during Sonic Expo? The run went phenomenal. We had all the skips we wanted besides TPSS, which is Trinkle Park Skip Skip, which is the hardest skip in the game.
01:18:20
Speaker
But everything else went pretty good. Nice.

Sonic Expo & Bucky's Gas Stations

01:18:24
Speaker
Congrats. ah Do you plan on attending other Sonic Expos down the line? Yes, of course. as it Through regular admission or hopefully being invited as a guest again?
01:18:34
Speaker
Yeah, I know there's one and and coming up in Dallas. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make this one, but ah it's definitely, it's not like Expo is definitely the one of the greatest conventions I've been to. was so much fun.
01:18:45
Speaker
nice Now, off topic, but ah since it was in Texas, during that trip, did you get to go to Bucky's? I hear about all the time. I see the TikToks. Did you go to Bucky's at all?
01:18:56
Speaker
Bucky's? No, didn't go Bucky's. yeah Well, if you do go again, maybe maybe we try to get go to Bucky's. Make a small video about it because people people eat that Bucky's content up of like, I went to Bucky's for the first time and people like, whoa, it's the Bucky's. It's back. All the...
01:19:15
Speaker
I see so much. I'm like, this is just a gas station. People have hyped it up. I'm like, damn, like maybe, maybe I should go to Texas and see if this gas station is all that apparently. Cause it's popular.
01:19:26
Speaker
Yeah. I've only been to, I went to Texas barbecue and that's, that's, I mean, that's pretty damn good in itself. I feel like that's probably like some of the best barbecue you could ever have. Honestly.
01:19:37
Speaker
Yeah. Texas barbecue. That was, that was, that was very good. Nice. Nice. Okay. Okay.

Sonic Racing Cross Worlds

01:19:43
Speaker
It's time to talk some Sonic games. Sonic Racing Cross Worlds is on the horizon. As of recording this, it's like a ah essentially a week away.
01:19:52
Speaker
Seven days away. What are our thoughts? You've played the open beta. What were your thoughts on that? I'm a huge Sonic Riders fan, so the fact that adding the Extreme Boards is everything I've been wanting. I'm super stoked out. The roster...
01:20:08
Speaker
is unbelievable. The fact that we're getting and we're going to get the characters from Sonic Riders back. What are they called? Babylon characters? Yeah, Team Babylon, yeah. Team Babylon. it's it's I only think I can book complain about this game is the tricks. I feel like if you mess it doesn't matter what order you do the tricks. like If you're doing it mid-trick, you still get a boost, which doesn't reward you for like strategically doing it. So that's the only complaint.
01:20:33
Speaker
But other than that, the game feels really, really good. Yeah, I will say the roster for this game looks dope. We essentially have like every mainline Sonic character aside from... but Is Big the cat in there actually? Okay, okay. For a second, I don't know why I thought Big wasn't there. So we essentially have every mainline Sonic character because we have all of... i said If you're looking at like roster-wise, we have all of the Sonic Heroes characters.
01:21:03
Speaker
We have Team Babylon. We have Silver and Blaze. We have Eggman. Do we have Metal? Is Metal Sonic there? Metal's there. We have Zavok and the purple one.
01:21:18
Speaker
yeah the the Sinister Six members or whatever they were. Deadly Six. but Whatever Sonic's rendition of that. The aliens, I'll call them.
01:21:30
Speaker
ah You have those two. yeah you have... I think like ah and egg the one of the ro the Eggman robots as well. ah And probably more Sonic characters on the way because there's apparently like another 20 characters that we don't know about that are going to be released monthly, allegedly. Now, whether or not they're Sonic characters or just third-party Sega, because we do know that Joker, Ichiban,
01:22:03
Speaker
Hatsune Miku Knights are planning to make appearances in the game. Whether or not they're at launch, we don't know for sure, which probably means we're probably going to get Ai-Ai as a character.
01:22:16
Speaker
We might get the return of Samba de Amigo. I'm just go going off of like who we saw in the Sonic Riders games. You have those two. You have Billy Hatcher. Am I missing anyone from the Riders cast of like guest characters?
01:22:31
Speaker
Hmm, I'm pretty sure you hit all of them. I think I've hit all of them. So you have all of those and it Nights as well, right? Nice. nights We only learned about nice because of like a box. It was like a five second thing of gameplay. It's like, oh my God, it's fucking nice.
01:22:47
Speaker
Like he never did a proper like, oh yeah, nice is here too. It was like, oh, wait a minute. And obviously the Knights fans are like, oh, we're so back.
01:22:59
Speaker
ah Because, you know, Knights is basically Stunk as just like the Sega guest character for all of their games now. Which, it is what it is. um Oh, ah we might see Beat and Ulala as well.
01:23:13
Speaker
I forgot about those two from Jet Set and Space Channel 5. We'll probably see them as well. We might see more of the guest characters as well from ah the Sega and All-Star racing games as well, even.
01:23:26
Speaker
ah since we could see a very big cast of this is there like a Sonic character that ah we that hasn't been revealed for the roster that you would like to see in this roster yes um Chaos Chaos Zero that's yeah that's a good choice actually yeah Chaos would be a cool one to see I can see like, because all the characters like have a special move too, don't they?
01:23:53
Speaker
Or am I thinking wrong? From the demo when I played it, they had like a special item from like their special item. Like, know, Mario Kart Double Dash when you get like, you play Bowser, get the giant Bowser. Yeah. Something like that.
01:24:05
Speaker
Okay, okay. Maybe there'll be an item where Chaos could transform into its fucking perfect Chaos where we just blast ahead like that and flood the course. Flood course. Flood the course. It just starts playing, um... oh Open your heart.
01:24:22
Speaker
Thank you. Open your heart. Yeah, like, it's not live and learn. Why am I blanking on that? Jeez.
01:24:29
Speaker
Yeah, no, I honestly, i did not play through the beta. I absolutely could have. ah But i shall I chose not to because I was busy with other games, unfortunately.
01:24:40
Speaker
um Do you think because that they're bringing the Extreme Gears back with this game, do you think that this would give a reason for down the line a new writers game to come into existence?
01:24:54
Speaker
I always say no because Sonic Riders has a really big learning curve. So I feel like people, unless they dumbed it down a little bit, but the thing is though that people that want to play the game are going to annoyed about this. Maybe at different difficulties.
01:25:11
Speaker
yeah Okay. ah do you think it's Do you think it's possible that we could see riders come to the GameCube NSO collection? Ooh, that'd be awesome. That'd so good.
01:25:23
Speaker
i would love that. Imagine, mean, there's so much they can do with and NSO GameCube. There's so many great games. There really is. There absolutely is. There's so much they could do with it. That's like, because there's a lot of fantastic GameCube games out there that aren't like directly first party that they could absolutely put on just because of like their parts, Nintendo's partners and stuff like that.
01:25:44
Speaker
And I think riders would be a great game to have there. i think personally, i think seeing Sonic heroes on there would be another good, good idea. i think Sonic adventure to battle would probably be the best. I mean, both Sonic adventure and adventure to battle would be fantastic. I would love to see that.
01:26:01
Speaker
ah because that you know it's two of the two of the but in my opinion two of the best platform Sonic platforming Sonic 3D Sonic games ah is in nostalgia partially um but I just enjoy them I enjoy Sonic Adventure 1 a lot more now than Adventure 2 just because I think with my time speedrunning Adventure 2 I became a little jaded towards that game at times so I like Adventure 1 a bit more now but i still like both games but yeah we could do ah There's so much that GameCube online can do.
01:26:36
Speaker
There's been a Sonic news. I know it's not a Sonic game, but Star Fox Adventures? Oh, man, that's what I want. That that would be sick. That would be sick. ah Next bit of Sonic news.

Sonic Collaborations with Fortnite & Rocket League

01:26:47
Speaker
ah There are some Fortnite leaks that Sonic will be getting a collaboration in Fortnite soon. Now, according to the leaks, it's not a character skin, but it's actually a collaboration with a new Fortnite Kicks collab where it's Sonic is getting a collaboration with Puma to make ah three sets of Puma shoes, Sonic, Shadow, and Tails.
01:27:09
Speaker
ah two two of the pairs, the Sonic and Shadow, are getting added. it The kicks are getting added into Fortnite. um they The shoes themselves are releasing at the end of October on the 30th.
01:27:22
Speaker
The tail shoes, as of what the leak got, ah are not in the Fortnite leak, but they might still be in the Fortnite, but they might still get added, ah but potentially, but they're in the real drop and not in the Fortnite leak.
01:27:36
Speaker
what What do you think of this? What do you think of this ah Sonic collaboration with Fortnite? Even though it's not quite Sonic, this could lead to Sonic and Fortnite. um move want I've been wanting a Sonic collab with Fortnite for the longest time.
01:27:51
Speaker
And the fact that... We're getting something is better than nothing. And I know we're also getting the car. We need some car themes. Yes, we are. We are getting some. ah There's a Sonic crossover with Rocket League with I think the new battle pass for Rocket League ah has Sonic and Knuckles decal for the Rocket League cars.
01:28:11
Speaker
And then there's another one with supersonic and tail ah Super and Super Sonic. Oh, and Super Sonic. Okay. I missed that when I was looking over, skipping through the video of like everything that was going to be in that. I'm like, oh, that's interesting. I mean, it like makes it the Rocket League one makes sense considering how close we are to cross worlds right now. So it's like yeah cars cars and cars make sense.
01:28:31
Speaker
um I don't know how I feel about the Sonic and Fortnite ah collab. Like. I've been cool get a Sonic Boom skin. Imagine ah You know what? Actually, if we had to put any Sonic skin into Fortnite, Sonic Boom would be the one to do it.
01:28:51
Speaker
Sonic 06, imagine that one. I mean, that was more Sonic-like, but if you make it janky, if you if you make that skin janky AF, somehow when it gets put into Fortnite, sure.
01:29:04
Speaker
That'd be funny. you know make it funny a lot a lot of people online are saying how the fuck would would they do the skeleton for that and I think my response to that is I feel like if they were to like ever do like a sonic skin for Fortnite it would probably be in the form of like a sonic outfit like yeah like big red shoes and then a blue blue pant like you're you wearing leg a sonic outfit neither Jim Carrey ah oh yeah they could do the Jim Carrey Eggman I feel like that would be the most a realistic thing is like a Jim Carrey Eggman and an Agent Stone skin I feel like that's the most realistic ah Sonic skin you would get in Fortnite
01:29:49
Speaker
um Just because it's like, you know, actual humans. So easy to do without needing to get like either really broken skeleton bone creative or just like outfit creative.
01:30:02
Speaker
So. much easier to do. And I feel like they could do that. They could even do an event because Sonic such a big IP would be such a big IP for Fortnite.
01:30:13
Speaker
um They can even do an event where you're where you fight Eggman in the open world. Yeah, that'd be sick because I know that Fortnite's been doing a lot of like those open world events with Godzilla and they did something with Darth Vader for Star Wars a while ago.
01:30:29
Speaker
um Even though I don't play Fortnite and I'm not a big fan of Fortnite, I respect Fortnite for what is done of being like the big bringing everyone is here mentality to their game.
01:30:41
Speaker
Despite all the, yeah you know, how much it costs to get them ah to get that skin in your own collection. Yeah.

Sonic Movie Series Discussion

01:30:48
Speaker
last Sonic bit, uh, is the Sonic movie. The third Sonic movie came out, was fantastic, did great with box office reviews and Sonic fans worldwide.
01:30:59
Speaker
Uh, I still haven't seen it. Uh, I was assuming you have seen it though. Wagers. Yeah, the movie was fantastic. I mean, I still think the second movie was better than the third one. We didn't get as much shadow as much as I much so wanted. and I liked the second movie a little bit more because it's like very Sonic a Adventure oriented.
01:31:17
Speaker
um Or to the story where Knuckles is being tricked to think Sonic is stealing the Emerald and maybe by Eggman. But the third movie... Like there's a lot of iconic scenes, but story-wise it's not like the best of the three. I think Sonic two is still better, but for Sonic four, i think it's going down the route of being like the Sonic CD game.
01:31:37
Speaker
i I, yes, I absolutely agree with you there. We're getting, but since we're getting, since it was teased that we're getting both metal Sonic and Amy, ah absolutely agree with you there i do if what are you what are you hoping to see out of the movie potential plot wise we don't get like so I think they're going to voice Metal Sonic but hopefully it's like very very simple like commands like um I don't know because there's no really like i don't really want to voice i no I'm thinking of Omega Omega simple voice lines Metal Sonic just makes noises
01:32:12
Speaker
Yes, aside from Metal Sonic's appearance in Heroes, Metal... Aside from Metal Sonic's appearance in Heroes and obviously the boss fight in Shadow Gems, Metal Sonic doesn't talk in any other instance.
01:32:30
Speaker
So I feel like if they do go the path with Metal Sonic, I think that for the majority of the movie, you have Metal Sonic silent aside from like this one because there were multiple Metal Sonics that we saw in the trailer or not in the trailer in the end of the movie.
01:32:46
Speaker
Yeah. So I say you have, there's like, there's like a Metal Sonic, like let's just call it Metal Sonic Prime or whatever. we, or we call it Neo Metal Sonic because obviously that is what the Metal Sonic, the form that Metal Sonic took in Heroes.
01:33:02
Speaker
So let's say you have your Neo Metal Sonic, which is essentially like the prototype or like it was the first Metal Sonic. It's like much different than the rest of them because it like has a voice and it's like, you know, there's like the, the whole, you're sending my,
01:33:18
Speaker
brethren to their death from Sonic but betrays Eggman and I think we could see I think it'd be cool to see the Metal Overlord transformation of like metal takes all of its dead brethren so combine to make it because obviously it used the fleet in Heroes but like it takes the dead Metal Sonics to combine to make Metal Overlord that would be kind of cool that would be cool I think that could be the... That would be a big big hype moment for it.
01:33:50
Speaker
ah do How many more Sonic movies do you think they're going to make? ah I could see them making like five or six. so iphon sir I could see six because then you make it that it becomes a saga.
01:34:02
Speaker
cause and A saga of Sonic. um with the As for what they do with the fifth and sixth movies, I think... With one of them, you have to do Silver and Blaze and like the Sonic 06 film.
01:34:17
Speaker
Maybe you make it as the finale one is. Now, what you you make it as i you beg it as close to identical as Sonic 06 minus the Elise kissing Sonic scene.
01:34:29
Speaker
Minus that. Cut that out. Throw it away. Sonic 06 has an interesting story. So I think that would be so good. Going to the future and stuff like that. Yeah. Or maybe you do it like a two-parter where five and six are both parts of the movie.
01:34:44
Speaker
part Part of one will you bigger bigger movie. You do it like that. Because I think... Because honestly, story-wise, Sonic 06 has a very interesting story. It's probably one of i i would say is one of my... favorite I would say it's one of my favorite stories just because of how unique it is.
01:35:00
Speaker
It has a couple lows with how they did a lease. They could have done a lease better. But it's still a really interesting story. And I think that could be a good way to end the Sonic saga with their movies.
01:35:17
Speaker
Yeah. Because I don't want them to milk more than they need to with Sonic and the the Sonic cinematic universe. I think three more films, four, five, and six, and maybe one or two TV series, one based on shadow would be cool.
01:35:36
Speaker
And then the other one, i other c series, I don't know. You could do whatever you want with that one But I think a shadow series would be nice. Yeah. And they can introduce us to a Rouge. Yes.
01:35:48
Speaker
Oh, that, yeah, that would be cool. That would be sick. I think that there's a lot of potential for the, the Sonic movie future, especially with how well they've been producing them and getting them out and actually making them, making sure they're good.
01:36:03
Speaker
at least ah it really is like the, the star of like, and brought it's brought modern game films to the forefront.
01:36:15
Speaker
It's because of Sonic. So, yay. yeah you Anything else you want to add about Sonic stuff before we get to our second topic of the day? ah want more child content.
01:36:27
Speaker
Yeah, I think we all do. Time travel is a weird phenomenon that only Michael J. Fox and those that play Insert Map Game Here experience.
01:36:39
Speaker
Need time to disappear? Don't worry. That new colony you establish needs a lot of work. Oh, a minor faction that should be easy to fight? This war should be really quick. Oh shit, is that the sun?
01:36:52
Speaker
Map games. One minute, it's the early evening. The next minute, the sun has risen, and you have three missed calls from your boss. Well, with that, it's time for us to dive into our second topic of the day.
01:37:05
Speaker
And that is, ah you've been branching out to do some other speed runs. And we're going to talk about those. But first, i did you were at Evo earlier this year as well.

Evo Event Experience

01:37:15
Speaker
And I wanted to find a place to put that and talk about that because, ah you know, Evo, one of the biggest esports things in the world.
01:37:23
Speaker
how How was it? How was Evo? yeah so evil was great i was actually you know i was hired there to go and work for grand archive which is a trading card game so it's an anime style trading card game with like a western game design so it has a lot of you know cool great original designs and we ran a booth that we had an entire like setup made for people to learn how to play the game buy some cards buy some placemats and it was It was a great time. you know i got My best friends were my like you know my boss and my other coworkers.
01:37:56
Speaker
I basically got to have fun, play games, and go to the casinos. Nice. nice Were able to catch any of the the big tournaments live at all? and Yeah, we were I got to watch Top 8 for Rivals V-2 a little bit for Mortal Kombat 1.
01:38:11
Speaker
Nice. Sick. that's ah yeah I would love to attend Evo one time, but ah I need to save up. I have not saved up. That's why I'm not doing any cons this year either. like I would have loved to go to TwitchCon again this year, but I just do not have the stuff saved up to go.
01:38:32
Speaker
but Yeah, it is. It is. All right. So wanted to briefly talk about that. ah Now you have, from when we had you on last time, you were basically just Sonic, all Sonic speedruns.

New Speedrun Categories for Sonic & Mario Sunshine

01:38:45
Speaker
ah You've now branched off ah while there were to ah two other speedrun categories within Sonic, but also to another game that isn't Sonic at all. um What made you decide to branch out?
01:39:00
Speaker
ah Starting with the Sonic ones, you now do Silver Story and Project 06 and also Team Rose in Heroes. What made you want to start running those categories? sort of a So for Sonic Adventure, I definitely have accomplished a lot with that game. So I wanted to move on and start learning new stuff.
01:39:16
Speaker
Adventure 2 Battle is i'm something I'm trying to return back to. I've been trying to actively play at least like once or twice a week. But for Team Silver and Project League 6, that was actually made off of a bet.
01:39:27
Speaker
So i was someone bet me to the learn Silver's story and be in a specific time. So I got to learn the game and actually had a great time playing it. So now I've been trying to run it a little more and learn some more stuff.
01:39:38
Speaker
and hopefully lead into more Project 6 stories. Nice. Now, with Team Rose and Sonic Heroes, everyone said how great the game was, and my first game branching out, really enjoyed the movement.
01:39:52
Speaker
I loved Sonic Heroes growing up, so that's that reason. And for Mario Sunshine... I, Mario Sunshine holds a very special place in my heart, and I've always, always enjoyed Mario.
01:40:04
Speaker
And Mario Sunshine just has the best movement, and I also love, you know, the GameCube. So, and I have Mario Sunshine, so it was easy for me just to plug it in get the stuff set up, and just run the game. And the movement is just so, so fluid, know, like...
01:40:21
Speaker
Oh, my God. this game. mean, your main component is water, so I hope it's fluid. Yep, yep. Exactly. Pun intended. Bad pun, but, like, you know what? It was right there.
01:40:33
Speaker
long Yeah. ah what's what Which ah which bar ah Sunshine category are you primarily running? um Any percent. Any percent. Yeah, but that's probably the easiest one of the categories to run. Yeah. bo um Nice. Nice. well What what does a sunshine because I don't know a lot about sunshine speed runs the other two. I know a little bit about because of just who I watch on Twitch.
01:40:58
Speaker
What does a sunshine speed run any percent kind of consist of like what are some of the main tricks that you get to do in it. Oh, man. So this game is a very difficult game. um there The movement the game consists of the spin jump.
01:41:12
Speaker
So we can actually buff the spin jump after landing. So if you input like a spin... If you rotate your analog stick completely around right before you land and press A, it actually buffers a spin jump.
01:41:24
Speaker
So you're able to do some really cool tricks with that. And, um like, for example, ah this doesn't involve the spin jump, but on Gelato Beach, you can... actually clip into the cabana which is the seventh shine by using like a watermelon as it falls off the roof you clip into the roof and then you make your way into the shine that's through the locked away uh the tooth and uh you make your way through the tube which has the shine locked away so now when you unlock that shine you get all eight shines from that stage so you go back and just put the seventh shine to complete it which is against shadow mario and then you're done with gelato beach oh that's oh that's cool
01:42:04
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, and there's some other cool stuff in the game that still haven't learned, but I'm excited to do more. Nice. What's your current, like, PB currently in Sunshine? One hour and 41 minutes.
01:42:15
Speaker
That's not bad. what's the ah What's the world record, if you know that? hour and 12. Okay, so that's... there. You just gotta trim that 30 minutes or so, you'll get there in no time.
01:42:25
Speaker
yeah just you just got sh trim off that thirty thirty minutes or so you'll get there and don't time
01:42:35
Speaker
that's awesome ah no that sunshine speedruns are definitely like the one mario speedrun that i know like the least about just because of like not not because it's like they're rarer rarely done no i see like you see people doing i'm just i just i think it's because it's a much longer category and than say like mario 64 stuff that it's uh not viewed as often but Is that like a fair assessment to make with? the Yeah, I mean, Mario 64 definitely outshines Mario Sunshine. So, you know, it's just a more popular Mario speedrun game.
01:43:11
Speaker
Yeah, definitely. Have you, on the topic of Sunshine, have you played that ah mod for Sunshine Mario Eclipse at all? I still have to play but I heard very great things about it.
01:43:22
Speaker
I've heard nothing but great things of it, like essentially doubling the shine count and everything. like, Jesus, how much can you add? But it looks pretty dope um with what you can do. And you get to play as El Piantissimo. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Which, gotta play us gotta play as the boy.
01:43:43
Speaker
i gotta see that man go fast and race himself. Yeah. but potentially ah no but it's really cool I wish you luck on your um endeavor throughout so through sunshine thank you thank you thank you and hope to see some really cool tech from that um with ah Silver Story ah what what a project of six what kind of tech do we get to see in that kind of speed run So, Dasbuer consists a lot of hover movement, so he uses his hover to get across stage, and there's some really crazy tricks you can do to get, like, through and out of bounds, I would say. I'm still pretty new at it. I've only done for, like, maybe three days, like four days. Okay, so it's, like, very new.
01:44:37
Speaker
Yeah, very new, fresh, very fresh. Okay. Okay. Okay. Well, that's cool. Can't wait to see more of that. um And my one question with Team Rose, are you doing LTS Team Rose or?
01:44:48
Speaker
l yeah Yeah. I i figured. i'd like because it's like but Between the two, I know that LTS is the much easier of the two speed runs to do. ah So very, very cool ah with that. Are there plans to like do like extend out further and like what if there is what games are you wanting to speed run down the line if you do have any honestly would want to run Mario 64 that's something I want to do I want to play it casually first because I actually never got to play it on the original hardware I'm going to play it and maybe if I like it enough I'd speed run it
01:45:24
Speaker
Okay, that's cool. ah my My big thing with Mario 64, I do not care for the game casually ah whole lot. i It's my is my big thing. I don't like the game casually. I think it's a speedrun game. It's a fantastic speedrun game because of how the movement is.
01:45:42
Speaker
but casually because of how the movement is, i don't care for it. And I even replayed it like this year to test that again. And I, I, I still stick to that ah little bit.
01:45:56
Speaker
ah But hey, ah congrats on branching out wagers. You've been you've been busy since the last time you've been on it. You've done a lot of great things, though. Congrats on all of that.
01:46:07
Speaker
Thank you. um Are you ready to head into the bonus level? I am. All right.

Favorite Sonic Racing Game

01:46:12
Speaker
Well, it's time to start closing things out and heading on in to the bonus level. Crazy lists, great deals, and recapping gaming history, it's all here in the bonus level.
01:46:23
Speaker
And we're starting off with Game Clash. This is a small little bracket-style game that our guest, Mr. Wagers, gets to ah decide the winner of.
01:46:34
Speaker
um Basically, I pick a theme every episode, and with it around the corner, ah the theme this time around is Sonic Racing Games. um So wagers, I'm going basically list off the games for you.
01:46:46
Speaker
ah You're going to in a small bracket cell, you're going to decide each winner. are you ready? Are you ready? I'm ready. Let's do it. All right. Round one, we got Sonic Drift versus Sonic All-Star Racing Transformed.
01:46:58
Speaker
um Sonic All-Star Racing Transformed. Round two, Sonic R versus Sonic Racing Cross Worlds. Cross Worlds. Round three, Free Riders versus Sonic Riders at Zero Gravity. Oh, Zero Gravity, of course.
01:47:14
Speaker
ah And match four, Base Sonic Riders versus Team Sonic Racing. Base Sonic Riders. Okay, moving on to the semifinals. All-Star Racing Transform versus Cross Worlds.
01:47:27
Speaker
Cross Worlds. And Zero Gravity versus Base Sonic Riders. Oh, man. This was a tough one. you're Seeing you, a Sonic Riders fan, this is the tough one. i Okay, I know I'm going to hate for this, but I actually like Zero Gravity a little bit more.
01:47:43
Speaker
Ooh, okay. Zero Gravity with the win there. And the grand finals, Sonic Race and Crossroads versus Sonic Riders Zero Gravity. I'm going to have to go with Zero Gravity. The big winner, Zero Gravity.
01:47:57
Speaker
what what's What's the big thing that you like the most about Zero Gravity? Honestly, I had the most memories playing that game. I also really liked the character roster for that game, too. The roster of game, I remember Silver was in that game, i was and the flying mechanics and me able to turn into the angel cards and stuff like that. and The choruses were so... like I just, I just, oh man. And the music soundtrack too, man. I can't get over how great the game was.
01:48:23
Speaker
And you were able to connect the game you controller to it too. Oh, you, oh, I really missed. Like, that's the one that I unfortunately got to miss out on I like, I played OG Sonic Riders so much and it was like years later, like even when I had my Wii, I had no clue zero gravity was a thing until like the end of the Wii's lifespan, which sucks. Cause I feel like I would have loved zero gravity just as much as I loved riders.
01:48:48
Speaker
Yeah, Zero Grady was really, really fun. Nice. um Moving on, this week in gaming history, here's what happened in the past from the September 22nd to October 5th. Starting off with some major events, on the 27th, 2009, Nintendo drops the price of the Wii by $50 in the to $199.99. Good times.

01:49:43
Speaker
Five to six million cartridges of ET, the extraterrestrial, are included. And what led to what happened afterwards led to people running into that dump to get themselves a copy of ET.

It's a different seasonal question that we have ah that we take a poll on and reveal the results at the end of the season.
01:51:50
Speaker
ah What game franchise deserves a new game in 2025 or 2026 that has not been announced yet? I mean, the obvious pick is a new 3D Mario, but i feel like Star Fox needs a fair shot.
01:52:07
Speaker
Star Fox is a absolutely does. It has been how many years since Star Fox zero? 11. eleven Yeah. Come on 2014, 2015. Yeah.

01:53:32
Speaker
And lastly, Wagers, our guest game recommendation. If you could recommend any game, old or new, to our audience right now, what game would that be? So, an older game that I'd recommend.
