It is. It's also a Ruby. Hello, Ruby. Welcome to the podcast. Thank you Thank you for having me. Hey, thank you for coming on.

Name Coincidences and Humorous Backstory

00:00:49
Speaker
i Okay, so I do have to ask because ah we are ah we're both here today because you know Drusk, who we had on last season. And I do have to ask because you both have also a your title.
00:01:04
Speaker
So is i is there like a backstory to this or is it like, like, like, is there a story to this at all? Or is this just coincidence? This is it's complete coincidence. I found his stream one day and was like, wait a minute. You also have also in your name. I like to make the ah the joke that we're the also twins.
00:01:27
Speaker
OK, it's very funny. I had to wonder that's just like me and like, oh, yes, whatever other I find other Tonys, Tonys must stick together.
00:01:39
Speaker
ah So, you know, I feel that. That's awesome. ah Glad we're happy to have you

Favorite Games and Soundtracks

00:01:44
Speaker
here. And because you're brand new here, we get to start with the loading screen where we ask you themo the hardest question you could ask a gamer. Are you ready?
00:01:53
Speaker
I am ready. All right, Ruby, what is your favorite video game, favorite video game character and favorite video game soundtrack? So ah my favorite game ever is actually the first game I have ever played. So ah there's a little bit of bias there. Wow.
00:02:13
Speaker
ah It is Pokemon Gale of Darkness on the GameCube. I absolutely adore it. That is a great pick. It was not quite my first game myself. It was one of my first games.
00:02:24
Speaker
ah And are arguably, honestly, like it will as much as I want to gush about it now, we will be gushing about it much later in the podcast, folks. I could talk about it for hours. Legit. ah Favorite game character?
00:02:40
Speaker
So I did think about this beforehand a little bit, but no characters really came to mind. So I decided to just go with ah my favorite Pokemon, which is Breloom.
00:02:51
Speaker
You know what? Valid. We love that. ah If I were to choose a favorite human character, ah it would be Lovrina from Gala Darkness.
00:03:03
Speaker
Also solid choice. Also solid choice. And favorite game soundtrack? ah My favorite sound ah game soundtrack ever is a soundtrack to Pac-Man World 2. Oh, okay.
00:03:16
Speaker
and Another... ah yeah You see, Ruby, I know we're going to get along like amazingly because we are both like GameCube era

GameCube Nostalgia and Collections

00:03:26
Speaker
games. Absolutely. I'm assuming like you grew up with a lot of GameCube.
00:03:30
Speaker
Yeah, a lot of GameCube, a lot of DS games. We had some Wii games growing up, but none of the big ones. Like I've never played a Mario Kart on the Wii, which is an absolute shame.
00:03:41
Speaker
ah Kind of. it It kind of is, honestly. It's a great it's it's a great one. it's so That's really what taught me, like, oh, I need to learn how to drift. I started with a Double Dash on the GameCube, and I still think that is the best Mario Kart.
00:03:58
Speaker
it's It's a solid one. It's a very, very solid choice. ah Do you still own your, like, old physical GameCube games? Yes, I still have my GameCube. It tried to kick the bucket once.
00:04:12
Speaker
um I was soft resetting for a shiny in Gala Darkness, and then it stopped reading the discs before I got the shiny. o So I had to get it fixed at one point, but I do have my GameCube still. I have all the controllers, and I have a bunch of games still. Nice. I also still have my OG GameCube. Unfortunately, it has kicked the bucket. Oh, no. ah it It cannot read like half the the... It reads like maybe one or two discs still, which is Kirby Air Ride and something else if we're like lucky.
00:04:44
Speaker
I still have all my accessories for it though and I do collect GameCube games as like my personal like main collection thing. And I have like 70% of all the North American games.
00:04:57
Speaker
Damn! So it that is my main thing ah that I do collect, and I'm looking at my massive wall of games there.

Hot Take: Modern Games Length and Price

00:05:06
Speaker
That's super cool. It's it's really cool. And like I still have like my original copy of Pokemon XD as well. Never got rid of that because...
00:05:16
Speaker
well i'm glad i never got rid of that because that game is expensive now holy shit oh my god gamecube games nowadays it's it's you're better off just using an emulator at this point honestly yeah and i mean dolphins pretty good i like okay moving on to the second introduction topic hot takes what is your hottest video game take Hottest video game take. I have said this before and I have yet to find someone that agrees with me. modern Modern games are too long.
00:05:50
Speaker
I would prefer if ah games were shorter and along with that, cheaper. feel like... Okay, I will agree that I... Yes, on the cheaper thing, yes. I think you'll find a lot of people who will say that with today's fucking economy.
00:06:07
Speaker
Hard... But like games that go past 70 to 100 hours worth a gameplay, I think it's it's too much. i I like short and sweet games, personally. i mean Okay, it's it's a fair take.
00:06:21
Speaker
I think that... You see, that's a wild take as well, considering you play Pokemon. And Pokemon can take a while.
00:06:33
Speaker
Especially if you do shiny hunts and stuff, because that you could have a file over 100 hours. so Right. but it's So that's a wild that's a wild take. As a guy who wayss it's a guy who plays a lot of RPGs, and RPGs can go on for a long time,
00:06:49
Speaker
I feel like, you know, I maybe don't agree with the take entirely. That's okay. and that's okay because guess what? We're allowed to disagree you still be be civil about it, folks. It's not Twitter 24-7, wherever you are. but but um it's It's an interesting take. i will ah I feel like a lot of AAA games nowadays to try to be super long out and pad their game with like lots of content. So that way it's like,
00:07:16
Speaker
you know, they keep that player retention up. Yeah. If it's like a long game. There's like games that still come out but in modern time that are nice and short and sweet too. Yeah.
00:07:27
Speaker
So, but you know what? not not the Not the worst take we've had here, but it's definitely a take. A take. So with that, we're going to move on to our headline of the week and start diving into all the gaming news

Nintendo Indie World Highlights

00:07:42
Speaker
that has happened. And our headline of the week this week was the Nintendo Indie World Showcase ah that occurred.
00:07:50
Speaker
And it was a solid Indie World Showcase. um we A good amount of games that we didn't know that got announced and stuff that we knew got release dates. And a few had some surprise drops as well. Starting off, Densh Attack now has a release date of June 17th.
00:08:10
Speaker
This is that at speed speedy train game. caal Kind of gives off like 3D Sonic vibes, but you're a train doing kickflips and shit and all all that fun stuff. I played the demo of it for Steam Dax Fest. It's fun.
00:08:25
Speaker
um Definitely has a bit of a learning curve, but like if you can master that, it seems like a very, very fun and fast time. My Little Puppy, this game is on Steam already, but it's coming to consoles on May 29th.
00:08:39
Speaker
This is where you play as a Corgi in the afterlife, looking to reunite with your owner. And there's a lot of dogs. ah where When they say all dogs go to heaven, it's the game version of that.
00:08:53
Speaker
ah Basically, he he ho two is coming out summer 2026. It's that co-op chaos game now with online functionality so you can play with randoms.
00:09:05
Speaker
Fun. but Moonlighter 2, The Endless Vault, coming out later this year, is a shop simulator by day, dungeon crawler at night, sequel to the first Moonlighter.
00:09:16
Speaker
Woodo is a diorama puzzle game with a very wooden aesthetic, looks very cute, comes up summer 2026. Mini Shoot Adventures, which has been out on Steam since 2024, is now out now on console. I actually played this on PlayStation 5 and Platinum, the game ah in between... watching the direct and this recording. Great game. It's a twin stick shooter with a adventure twist. It's like you're playing ah classic Zelda one, but you've now got your, you're a ship and yeah it's like, ah like, like one of those Toho games. Yeah.
00:09:53
Speaker
Because it's a bullet hell, too. ah Very fun, though. And it has accessibility options if you're bad, like invincibility and unlimited boost. So no excuse not to try it out.
00:10:06
Speaker
The Midnight Walk is coming to Switch 2 on March 26th. Rotwood is out now. And it sounds like it's a console exclusive to the Switch 2 and Switch right now. It's a side-scroller brawler roguelike with co-op options.
00:10:22
Speaker
Mixtape drops on May 7th. We finally got a release date for that. We've seen a lot of stuff, but no release date. May 7th is when that comes out. Blighted comes out in Fall 2026. This is a brand new game from the creators of Guacamelee.
00:10:35
Speaker
Dead Zone Rogue drops March 17th as a new roguelike sci-fi first-person shooter. And then we get our Rapid Fire titles. Grave Season's coming out Summer 2026. Unreal 2 back on track was announced.
00:10:48
Speaker
Toem 2 coming out Summer 2026. Inconvene, one-store, many stories, comes out April 30th. Outbound coming out April 23rd. And Ratatan coming July 16th. And then they ended off by saying, hey, Blueprints is now out on the Switch 2. You can play it right now. And honestly, it's one of the best puzzle games, roguelike games out there right now. And I would highly recommend playing Blueprints if you have not yet.
00:11:17
Speaker
ah And that was the Indie World Showcase. Ruby, what were your what are your thoughts on all the games announced there?

Wishlist and Upcoming Game Interests

00:11:23
Speaker
ah The biggest one that stands out to me would have to be Rattaton. I recently have been streaming it with a bunch of friends, and it is so cool.
00:11:34
Speaker
How cool is it? Um, it's, I don't think I can name another game that's like it. It's a strategic rhythm roguelike game.
00:11:46
Speaker
Okay. You do certain patterns to lead your little army of guys into battle, except for it's like, it's like real time you have to choose which pattern you want to do.
00:11:59
Speaker
Is it from the same developers as Patapod? Yeah, yes it is. okay so instead of single play it has it has multi i'm assuming it's both single player and multiplayer it's both yes yeah okay okay yeah because i'm like it's like when i see this i'm like oh i know of the pad upon because they just released the that the the hd one and two uh last year for it to bring it back and i'm like oh yeah that's that must be their their new game ratatons Yeah.
00:12:30
Speaker
Cool. ah Very, very cool. do any ah Are you going to try any of these other indie games out?

Gaming News and Industry Updates

00:12:38
Speaker
Potentially. I know that My Little Puppy has been on my wishlist for a while. i haven't looked too much into it, but it definitely looks like something I'd play.
00:12:49
Speaker
And then also The Midnight Walk and Toem 2 are both on my wishlist for games I want to try out. Toem 2 is online. I played Toem 1 when it was free on Epic. I couldn't say...
00:13:05
Speaker
released it for free and i'm like oh hell yeah i'm playing this because i've wanted to play this for so goddamn long and they put it out on epic i'm like okay let's play it and then they announce the sequels coming i'm like oh pog face uh hype emojis in the chat fucking dj beat mix from a air horn that's uh very excited for uh tome 2
00:13:32
Speaker
um With that, it's now time to dive into everything else that happened in these past two weeks and jump into the week in review. Recapping the major stories of video games and the world of tabletop, looking over recent releases and reports from the Game Lounge crew, it's the week in review.
00:13:52
Speaker
And kicking it off, some of the last major game releases we had. Scott Pilgrim EX Marathon, Destiny's brand new extraction shooter, Destiny Bungie's brand new extraction shooter, Pokemon Pocopia, Fatal Frame 2, the Crimson Butterfly remake, Celastitou going into early access, and Monster Hunter Stories 3 Twisted Reflection, where yes, you cannot escape from Alejandro Saab and Sayu because he is there as well.
00:14:18
Speaker
ah In the world of video game news, Capcom had a new game showcase to show off a bunch of stuff. Starting off with Pragmata, it's now releasing a week earlier on April 17th now.
00:14:32
Speaker
Also, they announced an amiibo of Diana will be releasing for the Switch versions. As for what it unlocks, I don't actually know because I didn't actually watch this event. I just grabbed the recap notes.
00:14:45
Speaker
Mega Man Duel Override revealed that a new Robot Master revealed a new Robot Master, except ah there's a twist to this one as it's a fan design contest Robo Master.
00:14:58
Speaker
um You have six designs to pick from from over 10,000 submissions that were entered. They are down to six and it's going to be one of those six that gets added into the game.
00:15:11
Speaker
Or possibly all of them, because maybe they're all that good. um So that was announced for Dual Override. Street Fighter VI, Alex releases March 17th, and we got Outfit 4 reveals for DJ and Elena.
00:15:26
Speaker
Onimusha Way of the Sword got a brand new overview trailer, and the game still has a 2026 release window. We got the launch trailer for Monster Hunter Stories 3, which releases on March 13th. Or when you're listening to the podcast, it's out now.
00:15:40
Speaker
Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection reveals online features including ranked casual and friend matches across multiple games in the collection and a deck rental feature.
00:15:50
Speaker
The game releases March 27th. And that was basically everything from the Capcom Presents. And then we got another Nintendo Direct for the Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
00:16:05
Speaker
For Mario Day, except in the West, it was on the 9th because time differences between us and Japan. ah So we got the final trailer released, and then we got three new voice actors revealed. Luis Guzman is voicing Wart.
00:16:23
Speaker
Issa Rae is voicing the Honey Queen. And Yoshi is... has a very prominent voice actor. It's Donald Glover, AKA Childish Gambino, AKA Troy from Community, AKA insert any of his other roles that he's had in his acting ah career.
00:16:44
Speaker
is and the internet kind of just laughed because it's kind of funny that Donald Glover <unk> just saying Yoshi a bunch in a high-pitched voice. ah what What are your thoughts on the casting choice, Ruby?

Super Mario Galaxy Movie Cast Discussion

00:16:58
Speaker
oh ah It's kind of interesting that they got him to voice Yoshi, but the lines are only just him saying Yoshi over and over. Is there any, ah like, dialogue from Yoshi in this movie?
00:17:12
Speaker
Just Yoshi. Just Yoshi. It's...
00:17:18
Speaker
ah Now, like, unless at the end of the movie Yoshi starts talking... I feel like they did this so they could have Childish Gambino write an original song or they could use some Childish Gambino music in the fucking end credits of the movie. Oh my God. I would not be surprised.
00:17:33
Speaker
ah So looking forward to that. Movie is out April 1st in theaters. go Go check it out. if you The first one was great.

Shutdowns and Delays: High Guard and Steam

00:17:44
Speaker
um In gaming shutdown news, High Guard, the game that Jeff revealed at the end of the Game Awards, it came out to very mixed reception. The player base dropped.
00:17:56
Speaker
It has officially shut down. They closed their servers on March 12th, and the game is now no longer playable. ah Very unfortunate to see, kind of like how we saw with Concord.
00:18:08
Speaker
And yeah, yeah. very just it's kind of wild that it happened but it's that has happened now uh so rest in peace high guard we barely knew you valve has suggested and by suggested i mean they've now confirmed that the steam machine and all other new steam gear that they announced is probably going to be delayed past the original early 2026 release and they are currently not able to sell more steam decks because of a parts shortage ah So, yeah, you're not probably getting a a Steam Deck anytime soon, folks.
00:18:44
Speaker
In Nintendo lawsuit news, except they're on the good side this time, Nintendo filed a lawsuit against the U.S. government and multiple government officials on March 6th over President Donald Trump's illegal collection of tariffs attempting to claim the prompt refund with interest of duties paid over the past year.
00:19:05
Speaker
So um a couple other gaming companies have hopped onto this as well. ah And we wish them the best of luck to sue the fuck out of America.

Nintendo Lawsuit and Bungie Scandal

00:19:15
Speaker
The plagiarism scandal that hit Marathon, Bungie's brand new extraction shooter, has been resolved finally. if you didn't know, May 2025, artist ah or anti-real, Hook accused Bungie of using her artwork as assets in Marathon without permission.
00:19:36
Speaker
After an investigation, Bungie admitted fault and confirmed that a former Bungie artist included these in a texture sheet that was ultimately used in-game. at the time Bungie said it reached they reached out to anti real to discuss this issue and are committed to do right by the artist and yeah they I believe they now they paid out the artist ah for that So good, but good job, Bungie. But stop having this happen. This is like, but this has happened multiple times to you guys.
00:20:06
Speaker
Stop, please. God. in PlayStation Sony news, Sony is testing the waters ah for a system on the PlayStation store that will display varying prices for the same product to different people, AKA dynamic pricing.
00:20:22
Speaker
They also may be testing personalized sales that will show discounts tailored to the user viewing them. Now, however this goes, we won't know, but it's very interesting to see and if it's possible that other storefronts may use this as well.
00:20:40
Speaker
what you What are your thoughts on this one, Ruby? Do you think this would be a good thing? This is not a good thing. Not at all. I don't think that that is fair.
00:20:52
Speaker
what if you're the one getting the deal? It's still not fair to other people who are ah getting charged higher. um I feel like everyone getting the same product should pay the same price, and I am a little concerned about how they're going to choose who gets charged more than others.
00:21:12
Speaker
Like, is there going to be some ah discriminatory stuff with that? How are they going to base that on?

Sony's Strategy Shift on PC Games

00:21:20
Speaker
i I would be okay with it if the discriminatory thing was ah eating the rich. and they Very true. Very true. you like there I don't think that's how they're going to do it. If they charge the 1% more and give us more breaks, I think everybody would be okay with this.
00:21:36
Speaker
But if they don't, uh maybe uh maybe very concerning now granted they are this is only in a testing system um they'll probably have like uh hey would you like to enlist in this to test it out and the granted those people may not even buy anything from this too and it'll just be uh dead in the water which probably is how as far as it's gonna get realistically Also with Sony, according to a new report, they're rolling back a strategy of releasing big exclusive single player PlayStation games like Marvel's Spider-Man, The Last of Us and God of War on PC.
00:22:16
Speaker
Bloomberg reports that plans for the PC versions of Ghost of Yote and the forthcoming Saros, along with other internally developed games, have been scrapped, their PC ports scrapped. They also showed us basically their the income. And while they made like a decent amount of money on their PC releases, that was it was only like a tenth, if not like a twelfth of like what they make on the PlayStation as like with it being like a PlayStation exclusive on PlayStation.
00:22:49
Speaker
So because they're not seeing as much of an income with the PC versions, they have just decided that they are going to be at and pull a Nintendo and not and stick with their first-party titles with ah PlayStation exclusivity and do no PC ah releases for them.
00:23:11
Speaker
Which, I mean, business-wise, finance-wise, it makes sense that way. Because if you're not going to make as much putting it out on other things, then why bother? I understand that. While it sucks for like having access to everything on everything and accessibility, is it's not it's not great for that, but I understand where PlayStation is coming from with this.

Next-gen Consoles and Game Announcements

00:23:38
Speaker
Microsoft has formally announced its next generation Xbox console and has given it a name or a code name, Project Helix. microsoft ski Microsoft Gaming's new CEO, Asha Sharma, confirmed that the new console will play both Xbox and PC.
00:23:56
Speaker
something that's been wildly reported and strongly hinted by Microsoft itself, but not stated outright. Now, I don't know what that means, playing both Xbox and PC games.
00:24:07
Speaker
Are you saying that there's going to be like ah ah a Steam client built in or like a... like a Windows client built in on this as well? Like, what what do you mean, Microsoft?
00:24:19
Speaker
Like, because right now I can play both all Xbox games and PC games on my computer. It's called having Steam or the Xbox app and...
00:24:31
Speaker
having Steam and or the Xbox apps because you guys don't do exclusives anymore. In Ubisoft news, Ubisoft confirmed that the long rumors Assassin's Creed for Black Flag remake is real. You know, after actors leaked it.
00:24:46
Speaker
Publishers leaked it. I think Walmart leaked it at 1.2. Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resync is coming. Ubisoft's confirmed, but they didn't go into details about what the project will be entailing or a release window either.
00:25:03
Speaker
So good to see that they're finally like, yes, it's real. shut up, please. We're working on it. We're taking our time because, you know, we fired all those developers that made Claire obscure and we don't want to, we don't want to fucking be the laughingstock of gaming anymore because let's be real. They are.
00:25:23
Speaker
Virtual Boy Nintendo Switch Online added Mario's Tennis and Mario Clash 64 on Mario Day. And the Game Boy NSO added Mario vs. Donkey Kong as well.
00:25:35
Speaker
Following a delay, Tom Clancy's Division Resurgence has re-emerged with an imminent release date. It will be out March 31st for Android and iOS devices. Marvel rivals finally addressed incense incentivized rowing, which was, that I didn't even know this was a thing until I read this. This is wild.
00:25:54
Speaker
So there's been a bounty system in Marvel rivals where people are going to, where people are paying to ruin matches. ah Marvel Rivals says that we maintain a strict zero tolerance policy against any form of malicious just malicious disruption.
00:26:09
Speaker
Accounts found to be violating their policies will face serious repercussions, including but not limited to permabans. They strongly advise layers against jeopardizing their valuable accounts and hard-earned progress for the sake of temporary incentives. And one of the main sites that was... ah Post hosting these bounties and match throwing stuff was taken down as well.
00:26:32
Speaker
So, yeah, that was wild to see that that was happening in Marvel Rivals. But then again, I'm not surprised because hero shooters just do that to people now, I guess.
00:26:47
Speaker
Grasshopper Manufacturers Let It Die, free-to-play combat-focused roguelike, is shutting down its online servers this August, but they've got an offer for you.
00:26:57
Speaker
A new offline version of Let It Die is being made available for purchase, which will strip out all the live service stuff and replace them with offline equivalents. This is a great thing, I think.
00:27:09
Speaker
ah Sure, it might cost you a bit of money if you really like it, but if you like the game, ah then at least you at least it lets you still play the game and it doesn't go away entirely.
00:27:21
Speaker
So that's kind of nice. ah In government conspiracy, Psycho Mind, Losing Your Mind... of a story, blaming everybody but yourself, the CEO of Mind's Eye, developer Bill the Rocket Boy,

Mind's Eye Espionage Claims and Layoffs

00:27:39
Speaker
says the studio now has overwhelming evidence of organized espionage and corporate sabotage that torpedoed the game's launch, and they're pursuing legal action as a result.
00:27:52
Speaker
Unfortunately, the enduring impact of those underhanded actions means the studio's being forced to impose another round of layoffs, which sucks, but I think this is just the CEO trying to cope with, bro, your game is just not that good. Chill the fuck out. What do you mean, espionage? What do you mean, espionage and corporate sabotage?
00:28:12
Speaker
Bro, your game is just not good. Just admit it. This is... It's...

The Sims Mod Marketplace Announcement

00:28:19
Speaker
it's That one's crazy to ah In Sims news, the Sims announced a creation club style marketplace and maker program enabling content creators to sell their work directly to players, which is kind of neat. It's just kind of I don't know how much money you want to put into it. mean, OK, do you play? so Have you played Sims at all, Ruby?
00:28:46
Speaker
I played it for a little bit because I saw that the modding community for the game was pretty big. um Except I was not told that it's against EA to mod the game. So I actually got banned from EA from modding The Sims.
00:29:04
Speaker
Oh! Well, shit. I had no idea. well i mean, I guess this gives a way to make those mods legal and to give those modders a couple of bucks in their pocket, I guess. Right.
00:29:18
Speaker
So, okay. You know what? Good for EA. i'm Okay. Well, actually I say good for EA, but this is just more fucking capitalism that EA is pulling. This is just an NFT, isn't it?

but It makes me feel like it's a Sims NFT. Probably. Probably. An Australian studio responsible for a raft of hugely successful successful games, including Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride, has announced layoffs.
00:29:45
Speaker
Halfbrick Studios confirmed as much on LinkedIn just months after the release of its most recent game, Bluey's Quest for the Gold Pen. Which i was I didn't realize Halfbrick was still around making games, to be honest.
00:29:59
Speaker
ah Good for them, but that for being around still, but sucks to hear that they had to do some layoffs. ah In Yakuza-like game news, Negoshi Studio, the the team that's working on Gang of Dragon, which is

Halfbrick Studios Layoffs and Game Releases

led by former Yakuza lead developer Toshihiro Negoshi,

Speaker
will stop being funded by NetEase in May, which means the game is actually in jeopardy because if they can't get a new source of funding, the game's basically not coming out.
00:30:30
Speaker
And then we'll never know Ngochi leaving and giving us good Yakuza games is the reason the Yakuza games haven't been as good anymore or not. And we'll never know. ah New Lego Super Mario sets were announced to come out in 2027.
00:30:49
Speaker
We don't know what they are, though. They just said it's they're coming. Oh, they're coming. We're giving you Mario. so So that's happening. Yoshi the Mysterious Book has a release date of May 21st.
00:31:04

00:31:51
Speaker
The game is in early stages of development, so we're probably looking at a 2028 release, if not beyond that, realistically. But for the first time ever, the game will have simultaneous worldwide release for a Dragon Quest mainline game.
00:32:10
Speaker
That is kind of exciting and very cool to see. Minecraft has announced that biannual showcase, Minecraft Live, will be taking place on Saturday, March 21st.

Capcom's Voice Actor Controversy

00:32:21
Speaker
veteran voice actor Ben Diskin, who provided the voice of Mega Man 11 in the 2018 release, Mega Man 11.
00:32:29
Speaker
i feel I feel like I misread that somewhere and I had a stroke. up Anyway, Ben Diskin, he won't be returning as the voice of Mega Man because Capcom refuses to use unionized voice actors and pay them.
00:32:42
Speaker
So, yeah. ah What the fuck, Capcom? ge Like, Jesus, we, like, why do you think the voice actors went on strike? It's because of this shit.
00:32:53
Speaker
Pay them, please. And that's all of your general gaming news. Any thoughts on any of those stories there, Ruby?

Pokémon Pocopia Impressions

00:33:01
Speaker
ah Not so much on the stories, but for the ah major game releases. Yeah.
00:33:09
Speaker
I have spent an ungodly amount of time playing Pocopia recently. I started playing it and I'm like, okay, this it's another Animal Crossing. What's so great about it? And then I kept unlocking new areas and then kept unlocking new areas. The game is bigger than Pokemon ZA.

Final Fantasy XIV Patch Details

00:33:31
Speaker
i oh it is huge yeah it is oh my god it kind of is tiny mean yeah lumio i mean yeah it is tiny uh we will be talking more pocopia as well folks so stay tuned for that talk later on uh moving on to the ongoing game news uh starting off with mmorpg news final fantasy 14's live letter from the producer 91 happened uh
00:34:00
Speaker
ah And it was big because we're nearing the end of Dawn Trail, folks, which means ah that it's time to learn what 7.5 has in store. But first, players in the future will be able to make their own Warrior of Light into little mini figures.
00:34:17
Speaker
They will release more details about this at FanFest. which is kind of neat. Anyway, patch 7.5, Trail to the Heavens. Part 1 releases on April 28th, and Part 2 will release early September. Part 2 being 7.56, and that is for like the MSQ when those will release.
00:34:40
Speaker
um Speaking of, we are getting new MSQ missions, and a couple screenshots were released, including... ah Kallax in his squirrel suit being in Mordona. Uriand J talking to the Lop Ritz on the moon.
00:34:54
Speaker
And just a couple other things. This will be taking us all over the place, it looks like, to set up whatever 8.0 will have for us. The Dawn Trail Allied Society Capstone Quest is available will be available. Inconceivably further Hildebrand Adventures will wrap up and ah do something for us.
00:35:15
Speaker
The new custom delivery client T-Solja will be available. Duty support is coming for the Dusk Vigil and the Shisui of the Violet Tides. PvP Series 11 will begin.
00:35:28
Speaker
and we have a new Crystal Conflict Arena, the Archaea Harmonious. The brand new dungeon is the Clidium or the Clytium. I hope it's pronounced the Clytium because I don't want to locate the Clidium.
00:35:42
Speaker
um not I don't think I'd be very good at that. so and uh to those who get the joke thank you uh echoes of vanadiel wind erst the third walk is going to be the third uh alliance raid of dawn trail the new trial is called any well and it's a final fantasy 5 super boss from the game boy advanced version of final fantasy 5 um specifically the new unreal is Shinryu's domain so you can go kill Xenos again and again but harder the new ultimate raid was announced but we will be getting more details about that at FanFest they just showed us a static screen and people are theorizing online here is this going to be a near ultimate raid near near sniffa sniffa near
00:36:33
Speaker
ah The brand new Phantom weapons ah are getting their fourth step and also the final step to make them the the big relic weapons. Occult Crescent is getting a new air new instance zone, the North Horn, and a new Forked Tower Magic is getting added with both a normal and EX version.
00:36:54
Speaker
The big thing, Beastmaster finally has details. The new limited so time job will be starting out at going up to level 50. to start. You capture beasts, and you can capture up to 50 beasts to complete your Master's Bestiary. It's basically the Final Fantasy version of Pokemon, from what Yoshi P said.
00:37:17
Speaker
and ah the content tied to it, instead of the Master Blue Carnival that we have for Blue Mage, we have the Crucible of the Unbroken.
00:37:28
Speaker
And this is what Ozma developed, one of the team members, Ozma, has been working on. Um, so seems pretty neat. I'm excited to finally try out beast master and I will, going to catch them all just like Pokemon. Don't sue square Enix Pokemon, please. god ah God, don't sue them.
00:37:49
Speaker
Um, We're getting a brand new ocean fishing fishing route in Thavnir, which means more fish, more... We love fish. ah Cosmic Exploration is adding its final zone, Oxygia.
00:38:04
Speaker
There's going to be a Gold Saucer update, but we have no details of what that's going to entail. There's going housing updates, more furniture placements and storeroom are getting implemented, and a new interior fixture design is getting implemented. The change your house layouts, like if you have a small plot and you want a big interior, is getting pushed to possibly 7.56 8.0 entirely.
00:38:30
Speaker
Armoire storage is getting updates. All artifact gear and then the dungeon gear from the 7.x series will be all well be able to be stored in armoires. Earlier dungeon gear from 6.x downwards is going to be slowly rolled out, kind of like how the duty support for the dungeons has been rolled out.
00:38:52
Speaker
uh, dyes are getting redone entirely as well as they're being reorganized into basically just three types of dyes. Uh, all the dyes that you have purchased, uh, you'll be able to take them to the Calamity style Avenger, uh, to turn the old dyes into new dyes. And then Mog Station premium dyes will still be their separate things.
00:39:13
Speaker
ah They also said that there's a possibility that we'll be getting a cross data center party finder potentially. And live letter part two will take place a week before fan fest.
00:39:26
Speaker
So you have all of that to look forward to. ah Get your PvP series done if you haven't yet to get your rewards on that before this comes out. And then keep an eye out for the Moogle treasure trove because that will probably be kicking off very soon to get yourself some mounts, minions, and whatever else they put in there.

Epic's Lawsuit and Fortnite Updates

00:39:46
Speaker
Uh, yeah, it was a big one. Also, in MMO news, Final Fantasy XI has server congestion with the amount of new players coming in to play the game, mostly thanks to the Alliance race for Final Fantasy XIV. Specifically, the Odin server is now full, so you you can't go there anymore.
00:40:05
Speaker
Stop going there. Go somewhere else. That's what Square Enix wanted to say. um Have you played any of the Final Fantasies, Ruby? I tried Final Fantasy XIV for a little bit, but ah I've get to play any of the other games.
00:40:23
Speaker
What were your initial thoughts on fourteen ah I don't know if this is a hot take, but while playing it, I just thought I prefer playing World of Warcraft over it. ah You know what? Fair. Certain animals are for certain people.
00:40:40
Speaker
ah That is fair. I can't play WoW specifically because I despise Blizzard. They are my enemy. Fair. ah so i And I also am just kind of addicted to 14. I have only two hours in it.

Umamusume Pretty Derby Anniversary

00:40:55
Speaker
In Fortnite Epic Game News, Epic Games is suing one of its former contract workers, alleging that he is the notorious Fortnite leaker AdiraFN. And also, the original game mode in Fortnite, in which players built a fort and tried to survive a night against a horde of zombies known as Husk, is going free-to-play after being out for eight years.
00:41:19
Speaker
It will become a free-to-play title on April sixteenth Which is crazy that that was still, if you wanted to play that game mode or game, you had to pay still. After, like, you know, the main thing of the game is free.
00:41:33
Speaker
That's crazy. In gacha game news, quite a bit of gacha game news, if you're a Horse Girl fan, Ubumusume Pretty Derby is celebrating its first global anniversary.

00:45:40
Speaker
And on the 27th, Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection releases on everything except the Switch 2 version of the game. and Those are your major game releases.
00:45:51
Speaker
ah Looking at some of the bigger releases, starting off with Crimson Desert. This game has been hyped up to be massive.
00:46:02
Speaker
um And if it doesn't do good, it is going to be one of the biggest flops we see for a game this year. ah so yeah, I've heard reports that this game is also too damn big.
00:46:16
Speaker
And I really don't know how to feel about this game, honestly. ah As for some other releases, Damon and Baby looks cool. I know they showed off a couple things of that last year. It looks really cool.
00:46:30
Speaker
Mega Man fans, you got new Mega Man game with Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection. So good for you guys. I'm happy for you that Mega Man isn't entirely dead yet. Because, God, you guys got to wait for the next mainline game. And I feel bad for that.
00:46:46
Speaker
um Any standout games for you there, Ruby? I'd say the ah um Super Mario Bros. Wonder ah Switch 2 edition for sure. I technically haven't been in it yet. I'm kind of waiting to stream it from like the beginning. But I'm definitely getting the upgrade for that.
00:47:06
Speaker
Thanks. I enjoyed Mario Bros. Wonder for it was. Um, I think I did everything in the game except like the final, final level because I had to collect some purple coins that I missed. And I'm like, I don't know if I want to go back for those.
00:47:20
Speaker
you Well, with that, it's now time for us to dive into our main focus of the week.

Pokémon Spin-off Games Discussion

00:47:28
Speaker
And you're going to hear a lot of Pokemon XD talk. ah Let's dive into the week this week in the game lounge.
00:47:35
Speaker
conversations of past and future games the state of the gaming industry how big decisions affect gamers and anything else that's important to us here's what's going down this week in the game lounge and to kick it off uh we're talking pokemon spin-offs because well with their latest release pokemon pocopia and being one of the best-selling pokemon games of all time now uh or soon to be a best-selling pokemon game it's already sold like 2, 4 million copies.
00:48:07
Speaker
It sold a lot, which is very good for Pocopia. the The 2.2 million sales, making it the fourth best selling game on the Switch 2. Just behind Legend ZA.
00:48:21
Speaker
ah So great for Pocopia. Back to Pokemon spinoffs. Overall, what are your thoughts on the Pokemon spinoff games, Ruby? I think ah Pokemon spinoffs have been a great addition to the series ah franchise more so. um I don't know if this is a hot take or not, but I think Pokemon spinoffs are better than mainline Pokemon games.
00:48:45
Speaker
I think it really comes down to the spinoff itself and which ones we're talking about. because i think that's True, true. I think that there are great ones. I think that there are okay ones. I think that there are bad ones. ah Which, I mean, you can say that with any other game ah series as well.
00:49:02
Speaker
ah Aside from the obvious Pokemon XD, what are some of your other favorite spinoffs? um First one that comes to mind is the Mystery Dungeon series. I have always loved it since I first played Explorers of Sky.
00:49:20
Speaker
And um actually, fun fact, my wedding band has a time gear on it because it is both me and my husband's ah favorite ah Pokemon spin-off game. That is adorable. I love that. Oh, my God.
00:49:36
Speaker
That's awesome. any Any other favorites that you have? ah This one isn't as highly regarded by other people I've found i've come to find, but ah I really enjoy Pokemon Rumble on the Wii. Yes! Shiny hunting for Rumble weekend is so fun.
00:49:53
Speaker
Oh my god. Pokemon Rumble is great. I love Pokemon Rumble so much. It is like it was the reason I'm like hey can we connect our Wii to the internet please?
00:50:05
Speaker
Please. And we did that and it was like the first game that I got with like Wii points. ever. And I love Pokemon Rumble to death. i specifically in the Rumble franchise, I love, what is it? The 3DS one, the the but the second Rumble game that came out. What was it? Pokemon Rumble...
00:50:27
Speaker
Oh no, I'm blanking on the title. Was it Rumble Blast? is that Yes, Rumble Blast. Yeah. I love Rumble Blast so much because it that one added with it. Because the first one was just Kanto and Sinnoh Pokemon.
00:50:42
Speaker
Rumble Blast was like, oh yeah, we're going to give you every Pokemon up to Gen 5. Which was which well at the time was all the Pokemon because it was just before x and Y came out that that one released.
00:50:54
Speaker
And it was great. I love Rumble Blast so much. and then the re And then they killed it by giving us a stupid mobile... No, sorry. The Wii U one came out, and they're like, hey, check out these little NFC figures that you can buy as well. And that was like the prototype Amiibo, essentially. And then they made a stupid mobile game, and then they released a 3DSware rumble game, but they made it free to play with microtransactions.
00:51:24
Speaker
But then they retconned it by making it... um
00:51:29
Speaker
payable. ah and But it's it's that's it I don't think we're ever going to see another another Rumble game and it's very sad because Rumble is great. I miss Rumble.
00:51:44
Speaker
um Another spinoff game that I really enjoy is the Pokemon Ranger series, specifically um Guardian Signs. Really? Guardian Signs? Yes. I would love to see this be put on the Switch, but I don't know how they would without a touchscreen or stylus. Well, okay, so...
00:52:03
Speaker
do do Have you heard the theory that there's a potential that the Switch 2 will see another accessory, sort of like how we saw with the Virtual Boy accessory that we got to play those Virtual Boy games that they put on the NSO, that they're going to release like a second screen accessory now that we have both two ports for the Switch 2, one on the top and bottom?
00:52:25
Speaker
that we're going to get a second screen accessory that plugs into it and will give us access to with like a DS NSO. Whoa, that I'm very excited for that. I have not that. It's just a theory, but people are have been talking about it. That would be amazing.
00:52:43
Speaker
I think if they did that, that's how you bring back all three Ranger games. Me, myself, I am personally akin to ah Shadows of Almea. um I do enjoy Guardian Signs, and I think if they did bring back Guardian Signs, they could use and NSOs online to do that multiplayer mode because it was the only one ambitious enough to do that multiplayer.
00:53:04
Speaker
But like by the time I played Guardian Signs, no one was playing it. So it was hard. You couldn't really do much of that. So it'd be nice to see because it's like a lot of people never really got to experience the Guardian Science multiplayer.
00:53:18
Speaker
I miss the multiplayer. I have a group of friends that were trying to figure out a way to stream it, but it's it's very difficult to get it to set up correctly.
00:53:28
Speaker
yeah I would imagine. But if it hey if you if you do, it'd be cool to see.
00:53:37
Speaker
Me, myself, I mean, legit, everything you just listed ah fucking are fucking great. I like Battle Revolution as well on the Wii. um I played a lot of that, imported all my Pokemon, Diamond and Pearl Pokemon's into there.
00:53:52
Speaker
And also the first Pokepark Wii game. Oh, Pokepark! How did I forget about that? It's a very solid entry. I can't say much about the sequel because I never played it, but I love the first Pokepark. I 100% did it.
00:54:06
Speaker
Oh, absolutely. Same here. i adore Pokepark. How could I forget that one? ah Um, those are some of the great ones, but I think, I think we got talk about one of the greatest now.
00:54:19
Speaker
Uh, and that is Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness. And, it's coming to the Nintendo Switch Online this month. Um... First, what your thoughts on it coming to Switch 2?
00:54:31
Speaker
What are your thoughts on it coming to Switch 2 before Colosseum? Do you think we're going to see Colosseum come to NSO, or are we going to see, like, an HD something happen to Colosseum and then XD just gets the NSO treatment?
00:54:45
Speaker
I remember seeing it on the um ah direct and my heart like stopped because i I adore this game and I cannot wait to be able to just, you know, play it on my Switch in bed. That is crazy to think of that I can just play Gala Darkness in the car if I want.
00:55:06
Speaker
um I prefer Gale of Darkness over Colosseum so I think it is valid that Gale came to the Switch before Colosseum um and then i as much as I hope and pray for a remake for these games I am doubtful because it's been so long Yeah, no, absolutely.
00:55:36
Speaker
I'm still kind of surprised that XD is coming first, considering Colosseum was the first one of these two games, and XD kind of acts as a sequel. So I'm genuinely surprised that XD is coming first over Colosseum, which is why i I'm wondering if Colosseum is getting something more.
00:55:55
Speaker
True, true. Yeah. Other than that, let's talk about Pokemon XD. Where do you want to start? Oh, just talk about it in general? It's great. well it's such It was... When I was a kid with XD, I did not know how to play a Pokemon game. i just I just saw this as like, oh, it's Pokemon.
00:56:20
Speaker
I didn't understand what the story was. I just went places. I used Eevee and Teddy Ursa exclusively. Because i really had no clue what anything else was.
00:56:33
Speaker
And, you know, as I got older, I'm like, oh, i'm supposed to do this. And I beat the game eventually. ah But ah that's that's my, earliest it's one of my earliest gaming memories with is with XD.
00:56:49
Speaker
I think my favorite part about ah Gala Darkness is just... It's... The whole gimmick... It's so different from the mainline Pokemon games, but still somewhat similar.
00:57:04
Speaker
susan It's basically... ah They told someone to make a game, but not any info about what Pokemon is. And they made it.
00:57:17
Speaker
that's That's the vibes I get from this game. it's Yeah, they're like, hey, we want to really enforce the double battle system that like we kind of introduced in Gen 3. Can you just make a whole game on that genius minority? And they're like, yeah, sure, we'll try our best.
00:57:35
Speaker
And na you want a sequel to what we did before? yes yeah sure let's uh let's uh let's see oh evie people love w on espion let's just give them evie this time and uh uh teddy ursa just start it off and go from there um i think the aura region is what is a very underrated region absolutely um Although my biggest complaint is the opposite of what I have with Hoenn, where with Hoenn, you get the complaint of too much water. i My complaint with ah XD and with Colosseum, too much desert.
00:58:14
Speaker
too much desert that's fair that's fair i'd say i know a lot of pokemon games are very diverse and like the biomes around the area but uh the ore region is just sand and dirt and there's a there's

In-depth Look at Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness

00:58:29
Speaker
it's basically you go east sand and dirt you go west mountain and there's a little bit of plains and then there's the ocean that's it that's it I know one of the biggest complaints about the game I have heard from my friends is that the battle animations are long, but that was like part of the selling point was the Pokemon are 3D and it's showing off like all of the animations. And technically they're not as long as the Pokemon Stadium animations because they took all the Gen 1 and 2 Pokemon.
00:59:02
Speaker
They took the same animations that they had for Stadium. And they had to just make the Gen 3 animations. And the XD animations are nowhere near as long as the Colosseum animations. That's true. That's true. Because they cut them off early with the either like returning to the Pokeball or i think they shortened some of the attacks or whatever. But like the Pokeball return animations, they cut them off at XD, but they they're longer in Colosseum.
00:59:30
Speaker
So they actually shortened the animations. They're still long, but they're shorter. Yeah. I'd say my personal complaint about the game would be that I'd say about 50% of the shadows are all on the final area.
00:59:51
Speaker
They're all congregated together, and I wish it would spread out the shadows more. Yeah. I don't disagree with that. It is a big, that is one of the bigger things with vanilla Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness.
01:00:10
Speaker
It does make the ending area more difficult, but i I just wish it was spread out more so it's not back-to-back-to-back shadows on that final island.
01:00:21
Speaker
i mean, yeah. but i mean that's all i Narratively-wise, it makes sense. But yes, I understand the frustration as a player. Trust me.
01:00:32
Speaker
I understand that. um Have you ever played the XG ROM hack for it? No, but ah I learned about it ah recently, actually. i I had no idea it was a thing. um It is on my backlog of games to stream someday. I am currently going through a Gala Darkness randomizer, which is so interesting.
01:00:58
Speaker
um But yeah, i've never I've never played the ROM hack before. and So I played the ROM hack last year. It is one of my favorite ROM hacks to date. Everything gets updated up to Gen 7.
01:01:14
Speaker
um So movesets, typings, the special physical divide, all that stuff ah occurs in it. They give you a second starter mod aside from just your Eevee, which is a Zigzagoon.
01:01:32
Speaker
So that way you're able to double battle Raph's start. instead of just doing a couple single battles. um One of the funny things that i found, the tutorial battle sims, one of them is broken that you cannot win it.
01:01:51
Speaker
Really? Yes. Because it's the one about status moves um where ah you you're supposed to just use splash on Magikarp and then every turn you get like a different you get a different status effect, basically.
01:02:10
Speaker
And like you're supposed to, oh, it's a poison or burn. I'm just supposed to heal that. And then seeing a paralysis or whatever, you keep that and your opponent just kills itself. Magikarp doesn't know Splash because they had to redo all the move
01:02:27
Speaker
move ID numbers. So Splash is Woodhammer. And Woodhammer does recoil damage. oh So you end up killing yourself before you even, before
01:02:46
Speaker
you can even do anything. That's so unfortunate. Yeah, it's the only broken thing that I found there. You can't, there's only a couple other things you can't do. um What's it called? Battle CDs because they haven't gotten that far with the ROM yet. It's like the only thing you can't do.
01:03:04
Speaker
But Battle Bingo got overhauled with brand new cards. Ooh.
01:03:11
Speaker
um every trainer Every trainer got a new name. That doesn't sound ridiculous. I swear, they just put a bunch of letters in a randomizer and that's how they named all the characters.
01:03:24
Speaker
Yeah. um yeah ah And obviously the Shadow Pokemon, entirely new list. There's more Shadow Pokemon than there were in the original. And they even have a couple Alolan form Pokemon as well.
01:03:39
Speaker
Really? Yes. ah In fact, ah they're though you'll believe it or not, the Alolan Form Pokemon are also Shadow Pokemon. Oh, heck yeah. So you can catch them and use them as well.
01:03:55
Speaker
So that is another very cool thing that I love about the XG mod. And Mount Battle's redone as well. um Mount Battle is done more like a proper like training ground, where it's like, oh yeah, these 10 floors are divided into two sections of five. The first five chairs are going to use this element to Pokemon, and the back five are going use this element to Pokemon.
01:04:17
Speaker
Oh, so it's like a gym? Sort of, yeah. And then you stagnate those um all the way up to... Because there's, what, 18 types of Pokemon?
01:04:32
Speaker
I believe so. Yeah, i believe so it gets you all the way to 490 by doing that. And then the last 10 floors... God, what were the themes again? The back ten, the back five are like, oh, legendary Pokemon from the regions.
01:04:47
Speaker
And the front five all have a gimmick, I think. And then the fucking final about 100 level, the floor 100 trainer is actually fucking hard.
01:05:00
Speaker
Oh, goodness. It was like one of the two things I could not actually do. But if you beat him, you get like... Oh, and that's the other thing. They also update the Wild Pokemon list. So there's more Wild Pokemon for you to catch.
01:05:15
Speaker
There are Legendaries that you can go catch in post-game, obviously. unless they Unless it's a Shadow Legendary because they redid the Shadow Legendaries as well.
01:05:27
Speaker
And... you can obtain the mythicals in it too. Two of them via about battle. And that that i then, can't remember where else you got them because it's been a while. Ori Colosseum still sucks though.
01:05:43
Speaker
Oh, I was going to ask you, have you ever like beaten that in base game? I've never. It's so difficult. No, it's the one thing I've never been able to do in base game. ah The only time I've ever seen it cleared was when I was watching Chugga Conroy's playthrough of XD. And it's like, yeah, if you beat Lavrina, you unlock the final thing to actually do in the game. And I'm like, there's something beyond that. What do you mean? What do you mean? What do you mean? It's just, yeah, you got to go find all the open world Pokemon and return their voices to them.
01:06:12
Speaker
oh
01:06:15
Speaker
Yeah, that's it. It's some type of a reward. Yeah, you get you get something for it. I don't remember what you get for it, but that's like the final thing you do. And it's like, congrats, you've done everything now.
01:06:28
Speaker
instance If you want to go back to the Ori Coliseum, go ahead, but you're going to need your game boy your Game Boy teams because the Pokemon in this game can't do it. that That's like, I guess, the one annoying thing I have found about the game.

Pokémon Pocopia Gameplay and Tips

01:06:40
Speaker
It's like, what do you mean I have to... I don't have a Game Boy!
01:06:45
Speaker
I'm being discriminated against. What do you think this is? 1934? The Boy is not that old. um I know one of the best parts of the game, I really love double battles. I feel like it forces you to think more about your next steps in the fight yeah compared to, oh you're fighting against a grass type. Bam, Charmander, I win.
01:07:13
Speaker
But with the double battle, you have to like genuinely plan out everything. And then the whole like capturing the shadows without killing them thing. Good old the snag a mechanic. It's.
01:07:25
Speaker
Yep. It's a great mechanic. ah I mean, at least they they're lenient. They're lenient enough to be like, oh, you fucked it up. Well, go go and encounter Mr. Afro man himself mirror B and try again.
01:07:37
Speaker
that's That is one giant bonus of Gala Darkness. yeah I don't want call a C.M. That's not a thing. There is no safety net. Well, no. The safety net is beat the ah beat Nascor and Cypher again.
01:07:51
Speaker
oh And then they'll reappear at the trainer that you fainted them at. Oh, gotcha, gotcha. Yeah.
01:08:01
Speaker
It's a more annoying safety net. Much more annoying. You gotta to go battle people back to back. But it's a safety net still. room Everything else. No, it's it's not.
01:08:15
Speaker
ah So that's the nice thing about XD. It's like at least you just gotta go wait a bit and they'll appear again.
01:08:24
Speaker
And also his music is great. Oh, absolutely. um on my ah channel on Twitch, I have a redeem called Teeter Dance, where it'll make my VTuber model do a random dance out of a few choices, and it plays the Mirror Bee theme song.
01:08:43
Speaker
Nice. Very, very nice. ah A lot of my ah alerts and redeems and such are ah Gala Darkness themed but because it's my favorite, of course. um like Whenever I get a raid from another channel, it plays the ah like triumph triumphant music from the Pyrite Colosseum before the fight starts.
01:09:12
Speaker
And like various sound effects from the game I've i've kind of taken. Nice. Very nice. um
01:09:24
Speaker
Shadow Lugia. well As a kid, did you ever like... How how long did it take to figure out what to do with Shadow Lugia? I remember playing it as a kid and right before...
01:09:43
Speaker
What part was it? um Like, when you have to get on the Kyogre boat thing. Yeah, the Robo Kyogre. I was completely lost. I could not find the damn boat, even though it was right there in the port town.
01:09:58
Speaker
um And then Lugia itself, I think I was smart enough to get the Master Ball. But the fight after, oh my god, that that took me forever. I had to rematch the the final boss multiple times to get those shadows.
01:10:14
Speaker
Yeah. yeah it's It's almost impossible to get all six in one fight. it i I could never do it.
01:10:24
Speaker
yeah Yeah, it's definitely one of those things when when you're a kid, it's a lot harder than when you're an adult. But also, our brains are just not there yet. I know as a kid, I was definitely ah using Pokemon that I liked more than actually thinking about types and stuff.
01:10:42
Speaker
Yeah. Definitely. It's like, oh, legendary goes on team.
01:10:53
Speaker
I remember having both a Delcati and a Persian on my team all the way up until the end. Meow. I think I may have liked cats.
01:11:04
Speaker
Just a little too much. Just a little bit. ah ah Moving on from XD, Pocopia, the latest release is out. ah you've put You've probably put a lot more time into the game than I have, mostly because I haven't just been, i have I've been on other things. and ah Like, a de like i yeah I'm a fair bit of ways in the game, but you probably have way more time. How is Pocopia?
01:11:32
Speaker
So, ah as I said from earlier, I started playing the game, I got into the starting area, and it's like, okay, this is basically Animal Crossing, but with Pokemon. People were not exaggerating. That's literally it.
01:11:48
Speaker
And then i went over to one of the gates and realized there's a whole nother section. And then i found another gate to another whole nother section.
01:11:59
Speaker
The game is huge. Yeah, the game is a lot bigger. It's four areas currently. There might be... There's rumors that, like, oh, DLC's gonna add more of Kanto.
01:12:12
Speaker
Small spoiler. You're in Kanto. Small spoiler. i drink I think people have figured out. If you're if you're on Twitter and see anything Pocopia, it's all, oh, Kanto lore! Oh! Oh! 151 original gen! oh and I know ah people have been getting tired of Kanto, but I feel like Pocopia handles it in a way that it's different enough. Yes.
01:12:37
Speaker
Absolutely. I will 100% agree there. The Kanto burnout is real, but Pocopia makes it so different because they nuked Kanto. Absolutely. They nuked it.
01:12:48
Speaker
It's just like World War II. Yeah, it's four areas ah that you get overall. Three of them being... No, sorry. There's five areas.
01:13:00
Speaker
yeah oh ah Four areas that are related to story beats and one bigger open like real creative world, which is the Pallet Town area. Oh, yeah. Cycling Road. And then there's three gates that take you to various areas that you get skills from Pokemon and like can progress your and progress other things like the story itself.
01:13:24
Speaker
Do we know how many Pokemon are in the game yet? 300 something. Oh my God. yeah From what I've seen on Sarah B. Hold on. I can get an exact number here. I don't have enough time to make 300 Pokemon houses. They're all going to be homeless.
01:13:45
Speaker
Available Pokemon. We have a total number of 300 exactly. Dang, I have about 70, a little over 70 so far that I've found.
01:13:59
Speaker
Nice. Yeah, I'm nowhere near that. I am maybe at like 50. fifty um yeah But yeah, i ah my beginning area, I've worked on quite a bit. The ah water area, as I'm going to call it.
01:14:17
Speaker
Beach water. Yes. you just I'm not going to say what town because I don't want to spoil it for anyone. um But I've spent a little bit of time over in the water area and I just started poking around with like the...
01:14:32
Speaker
um the The one that has like the mine carts and such in it? The mines, basically. Yes. Yeah.
01:14:41
Speaker
It's where you learn how to rail. True. Or get you get get rails.
01:14:51
Speaker
buy car There's mine carts. It's it's the Minecraft section. It's the Minecraft section. That's the best the best way to put it. I have a hot take on Bocopia. I don't know if it's a hot take. I still don't know how I feel about the game.
01:15:05
Speaker
Like, I've maybe i've maybe put in, like, 10 to 15 hours. i still don't know how I feel about the game. um I did feel like that at first and and then I saw how big the game is and it's just, I've been addicted. I'm about 20 to 25 hours in.
01:15:24
Speaker
um This last weekend I ended up ah accidentally throwing out my bag and so I've been stuck in bed playing this game. it is It's been a good, what's the word I'm looking for? Time killer? Good way to pass the time, yes.
01:15:42
Speaker
No, it definitely gives off that. ah do you have the type of OCD but that when you had access to Water Gun, you wanted to water everything in the area? i spent so long watering all the grass, making sure that I didn't miss any spots. And then Kyogre came by and just completely watered everything. So it was pointless. this I spent so much time and I wish someone told me that Kyogre was just going to water everything for me. I really wish that the game had hey, listen, you will unlock rain if you just do this.
01:16:20
Speaker
Don't water everything. So that's our beginner tip to you. don't Don't be like us. I spent an ungodly amount of time watering everything. Yeah.
01:16:31
Speaker
Yeah. I did not continue the story until everything was watered. Oh, oh, no. I at least did story. And like, as I got further along, would maybe water bits and pieces here and there. No, the second I was let loose, I watered everything. I i mean, at least only Squirtle and Tangrowth could judge you at that point.
01:16:54
Speaker
Right. And no one else could. Except all of us on the internet.
01:17:01
Speaker
That's... Oh, Ruby, no. oh Oh, you had it worse than me. spent like two to three hours of just watering.
01:17:14
Speaker
No.
01:17:17
Speaker
No.
01:17:20
Speaker
But in terms of ah building and such, normally with these types of games, I have a very hard time being creative with making stuff. But for some reason, this is the first game where it's like, I'm actually building things. I'm i'm planning out my little town. i got my, where I want my flower gardens to be. I have every, like...
01:17:46
Speaker
It's crazy. Not even with Minecraft ah creative have I done this. Wow. i don't I can't tell what what it is.
01:17:58
Speaker
It's because they added Pokemon. Yeah. Maybe, maybe. Maybe I should get a Cobblemon going and see if that'll help me. Hey, Cobblemon's a pretty great mod, just saying.
01:18:12
Speaker
it's a It's a top-tier Minecraft mod, I'm not gonna lie. I enjoy it a lot when I get into my two-week Minecraft binge. I think the only complaint about the game I have is having to wait an entire day for a house to be built.
01:18:30
Speaker
So there is an ability or a Pokemon defined to reduce that an hour. To reduce it to an hour. Okay. Because, like, I'm going crazy. Like, I can't do anything until this building's done.
01:18:42
Speaker
Yes. I can't remember. Hold on. Okay. i You know what? For the sake of people, I am going to find it and tell you so you don't lose y'all's minds. Thank you. Thank you.
01:18:54
Speaker
ah Other than that, there's i wish it was easier to tell what I need to change about a habitat to get the Pokemon to spawn. Or at least, like if the game could show me a percent chance so I know that it's actually working.
01:19:14
Speaker
I've been trying to get a damn slow king for the longest time, but it won't show up. Though some Pokemon as well only appear in Pallet Town. Oh, that's true. That's true.
01:19:25
Speaker
I noticed on the habitats, there's like the... Some that only appear in like the morning or like midday. like Yeah, some of them are time-based as well. That's... I, you know... i could i could play it in the morning during my ah days off before stream, but normally I'm playing it and it's at night, like after work or something, so...
01:19:47
Speaker
um Hopefully I'll get all the Pokemon. I want to 100% it. That would be nice. there's yeah There's... You know what? I know that some people have already 100% of the game to get all the Pokemon and habitats and everything. i find that crazy.
01:20:04
Speaker
ah Also, I can't find the fucking Pokemon. But there is a Pokemon... Aside from just time traveling to skip that shit, there is a Pokemon that can shorten your time. Oh, I did hear that...
01:20:16
Speaker
You can't time travel. Like, it's it's based off of server clocks. Is that true? No, no you can time travel. no No consequences whatsoever. Oh, okay.
01:20:28
Speaker
Yeah. It's like they're they totally... It's totally chill to do it. Okay, sweet. Because I know in like Animal Crossing, the the bit that I did play, ah I would skip all the time just to get like specific rare flowers that I was trying to get.
01:20:46
Speaker
yeah
01:20:50
Speaker
oh that's just it that's just the comment oh okay yes i it felt like there was a butt there i'm sorry sorry ah good oh can you tell i'm running up like five six hours of sleep The joys of having a conversation over the internet.
01:21:10
Speaker
i love I love it. I love it. It's why we do this podcast, guys. of yeah I mean, you know, Animal Crossing, like, the only real consequence of time travel is turnips.
01:21:20
Speaker
Like, because you can't time travel with your turnips. i never really got into the turnips thing. Good.
01:21:31
Speaker
Honestly, the cozy gamers got into turnips became stock bros five years later.
01:21:37
Speaker
It's a fact. Don't at me. It's a fact. Trust me. I didn't get too far into Animal Crossing. i like ah a good handful of other people ah do.
01:21:52
Speaker
i play for a bit and then I just completely reset the island. Oh, Jesus. I just I've restarted so many times. I'd I'd like to 100% it someday, but I think I'm going to save that for straight. 100% an Animal Crossing game. Are you nuts?
01:22:09
Speaker
yeah I'm going to attempt to. I like 100%ing things, but if the 100% is tedious, then I won't go after it. Do you know what goes into 100%ing in Animal Crossing game, Ruby? No, this is my first Animal Crossing. oh Oh, my sweet, sweet child.
01:22:30
Speaker
Like in um ah Kirby and the Forgotten Land, the figures. To get some of the figures, it's based off of like a gotcha system. And I think i i don't I don't have the time to sit there and click the button over and over and i hope I get the right figure. did that with Kirby and the for Forgotten Land. that That wasn't too bad. Honestly, that was pretty that was pretty tame. Animal we'll Crossing, you need to collect every furniture item, every clothing item, every fossil, every bug, every fish. furniture and clothing?
01:22:57
Speaker
You've got to complete the catalog. It's 100% the game. Oh, I thought it was just like the fossils, the fish. yeah yeah that's that That's a different percentage. That's just museum percentage. Okay, okay. I will present the museum then. 100% includes the entire catalog.
01:23:14
Speaker
And end the flowers. I want to get the rare flowers, but it takes forever to to get them to appear. Yeah, but there's like an easy guide to like follow to know how to crossbreed.
01:23:25
Speaker
True. So, like, that's not as bad. That's just a lot of water save time travel. Look again, water save time travel.

Animal Crossing Gameplay and Challenges

01:23:34
Speaker
ah The furniture is, the the catalog is the worst part of trying to actually 100% a animal crossing game. And there's no real, like, oh, congrats, you finished the catalog. It's just you have to manually calculate that yourself.
01:23:51
Speaker
Mm-hmm. So crazy I just go, if if you just, I'll go for the museum, then I'll go for museum per percent it is by far 10 times chiller aside from artwork.
01:24:04
Speaker
But they updated it. The nice thing about new ah New Horizons is they updated it. So every week, Red sells two pieces of art if you have him unlocked at Harv's Island.
01:24:15
Speaker
And I think one of those is guaranteed to be real, at least. um so that way you only have to time travel every you still have to time travel every day to see if he'll appear in his boat but like there's at least a new ah an artwork to look for every week as well aside from his random encounters because art is always the hardest thing to actually collect in the game because of how rare red's shop is have you ah ever played the dlc Oh, yeah. So actually, I played the DLC for the first time this year when the update came out. And also just, I'm like, oh, I never played the last DLC that came out because I only played Animal Crossing for the whole 2020 year for like a one.
01:24:56
Speaker
From like when I started to like a year on that date is how long I played for the first time. oh New Horizons. And then it's like, oh, the DLC came out. Didn't touch it.
01:25:07
Speaker
ah The Switch 2 version came out. I'm like, you know what? Let's play through that until Pocopia comes out basically. look did that DLC 2 with the Happy Home Academy is cool it's basically its own step it's basically separated entirely from the game and it's basically just Happy Home Academy expanded um which is nice if you're really into the interior design stuff the hotel is neat um if you're an aesthetic freak who does not like uglies on their island quote unquote you will not like the hotel as it puts uglies on your island quote unquote All villagers are beautiful and gorgeous, just not when I'm trying to do a themed island. Yeah, basically.
01:25:51
Speaker
Um... And Harv's Island got an update in, I think it was the previous ah version that added, like, oh, can get all of the the people who come to your island except Labelle and the Bug and Fish people ah will have their own setup shop on Harv's Island that you can check with new stock every week. They also added Reese and and...
01:26:17
Speaker
Harriet over there as well to get haircuts, special custom craft, special customizations, and just access your storage anytime with Tordimer. Oh, and Katrina was added there as well to get your fortunes read.
01:26:31
Speaker
ah I think that's it. That was added. That was new that people cared about.

DLC Access Issues and Family Plan Complications

01:26:39
Speaker
and then more storage upgrades because, you know, can't have enough storage.
01:26:44
Speaker
Right. But um I stopped playing because I'm like, okay, other shit is out. I gotta focus. I can't keep doing this daily thing. I gotta look into how to fix it.
01:26:56
Speaker
But the thing is, I haven't played the DLC because of what I think is a glitch. Oh. no So once upon a time on my younger sibling's Switch and on my Switch, we were logged into my account on both Switches.
01:27:13
Speaker
And then I got the DLC. My sibling downloaded it on their Switch. So I couldn't have it because it's on their Switch, right? Eventually, ah they got their own account on that Switch. But I still cannot get the DLC.
01:27:31
Speaker
Because it i I think it thinks it's still downloaded for the other Switch. But I've looked into it, but I can't get the DLC to work for mine now.
01:27:45
Speaker
ah i don't know what happened there or if I have to like call a customer service for that type of thing. ah I wish I had an answer to you, but i'm not that tech savvy, unfortunately. My uncle doesn't work for Nintendo.
01:28:02
Speaker
So I can't give you much help there. ah Yeah, that's weird. ah um don't know. The only thing I could say, because like, ah is to go the Switch 2 version of the games.
01:28:19
Speaker
Because you have, I'm assuming you have NSO. Oh, yeah, of course you have NSO, because you're going to play Pokemon XD. What am I saying? I'm assuming you got the Happy Home Designer through the expansion pass then.
01:28:32
Speaker
Uh, probably. Uh, I'm, I'm in like a family plan. Uh, one of my family plan. There's so many more fucking issues with the family plan. I don't even know where start with that then.
01:28:45
Speaker
Uh, yeah, I'm no, I'm no help. Ask an expert.

Pokémon Predictions and Starter Excitement

01:28:49
Speaker
That's okay. That's okay. I'll figure it out at some point. Yeah. Uh, I guess the last thing I want to ask before we move on to our second topic of the day, uh, any predictions for winds and waves?
01:28:59
Speaker
I haven't really thought of that too too much. ah Just the normal predictions of ah there's going to be a gimmick for the gen, there's going to be regional variants, I hope.
01:29:12
Speaker
um As much as I would like more mega evolutions, I don't think it's going to continue in the next gen. Or at least no no new ones. Yeah.
01:29:25
Speaker
um But I am very excited. ah what What starter are you going with? Hobbon. Absolutely. I need the little puppy. I need my puppy. It's so cute. It's so cute.
01:29:38
Speaker
It is legit. of Now, just keep it quadrupedal we're good, Pokemon. Please, please. I need it to not be two legs. Don't make it stand. Don't make it firefighting. And we're good.
01:29:53
Speaker
As always, I need to see the evolutions before I make a definitive decision. yes Now, we are still a year out. We'll be seeing things roll in steadily.
01:30:06
Speaker
But ah I'm excited to see what the box of legendaries are. True. I'm assuming ah water and flying themed. ah Maybe some sort of dragon Tornadus and Thunderous can now evolve. Oh, no.
01:30:26
Speaker
Not the genies. Imagine. Imagine that's what they decided to fucking do. They just keep adding more genies as the games go on. Ah, yes, there's four of them now. But what if we give you ten We'll double the amount of genies. i have heard i have heard rumors. Of course, you hear this rumor every single time there's a new game. new Eeveelution. I would love to have an Eeveelution of every type. I don't think it's excessive in the slightest. But every time there's a new game announced, everyone is like, Eeveelution, Eeveelution, come on.
01:31:03
Speaker
I think ah if with the with the title of Winds and Waves, that we might get that flying type Eevee. I want a flying type Eevee.

Favorite Pokémon and Shiny Forms

01:31:10
Speaker
Flying is my favorite type. Oh, I love bird Pokemon. They're so cute.
01:31:17
Speaker
Which is funny because my favorite Pokemon is quad a week to flying. Oh. Oh, yeah. Broloom. why Why is Broloom your favorite? hi No specific reason really jumps out to me.
01:31:32
Speaker
All I know is that I played Gale of Darkness as a kid and Shroomish came to me from the sky into my hands. And I absolutely from it descended from the sky. From the top ring, it's Shroomish. Oh, and he's it's a total TKO.
01:31:48
Speaker
three iy are I don't know. i I mean, my favorite has changed over the years. I think my earliest favorite Pokemon was Jolteon. And then it was Lapras and then Flygon. And now I've been on Breloom for the longest time.
01:32:07
Speaker
You know what? There's not enough love for Breloom in the world. That's good good for you, Ruby. I'm an Umbreon Espeon fan until the day I die. Espeon is my favorite evolution. ah Oh, hot take, I guess.
01:32:22
Speaker
um What is it? Espeon's shiny is beautiful. I think it's beautiful. I know people hate green shinies, but... That is the hottest take ever. How dare you? It's beautiful! How dare you make that take here? Espeon's shiny! a funny alien cat.
01:32:39
Speaker
They give Umbreon this amazing blue and black shiny with the rays turning blue. And they make Espeon fucking green Green. Alien green. Because, you know, psychic. Psychic cat. ah and I love it.
01:32:54
Speaker
Disgusting. Disgusting. i can It's the one disappointment I have in why Umbreon is my favorite over Espeon. It's because of the goddamn green shiny.
01:33:09
Speaker
Most green shinies I do not like, but Espeon's green is a good green. No, it's not. it's just It's so jarring. It's so jarring. And it's better than the subtle shinies.
01:33:23
Speaker
ah Okay, yes. Yes and no. i mean I mean, for the majority, yes. Because at least you know it's a shiny.
01:33:34
Speaker
But still, it's it's not a big yes. It's barely a yes there. Barely a yes. Barely. What is your favorite shiny? Do you have a favorite shiny?
01:33:45
Speaker
um I mean, the Umbreon one is probably my favorite. I can't think of any others off the top of my head. um Mostly because I don't go for shinies a whole lot.
01:33:59
Speaker
Fair. um i'm really I'm really trying to think here, actually. ah The person who said at the beginning of this, hey, games are too long, is also a shiny hunter, so I mean, if that's willingly putting in the hours that you do. It's not like, oh, I'm forced to play it. It's like I'm choosing to play it.
01:34:19
Speaker
Yes. So, like, I guess that's the difference there. I do like Lapras' shiny because it's purple. Oh, true. I mostly like it for the collecting part of

Gaming Preferences and Platformers

01:34:30
Speaker
it. I'm not really one for collecting stuff, but I really want a shiny living dex.
01:34:36
Speaker
That would be so cool. Good luck. um' Once Legend ZA's home support comes in, I will have finally finished my living decks. Because of goddamn Hoopa.
01:34:49
Speaker
Oh yeah, that's that's one thing about ZA that I really don't like, is that it is not possible to move Pokemon out of ZA. Well, no, it's not put possible to put Pokemon into ZA, I think.
01:35:01
Speaker
is it Is it the opposite? Yeah, because obviously we can take Pokemon out of ZA and put them in the box. Oh, thought it was the other way. No, no. like like try try try If we can't take Pokemon out of ZA and Pokemon home, then what's the point of having Pokemon home for ZA?
01:35:18
Speaker
thought it was the other way around. I think it's... I'm going to find it now. I think it's like only Pokemon from ZA can go into ZA. ah I believe, but I don't know.
01:35:33
Speaker
God, I got to fact check this. i'm I'm looking it up too. Hold on.
01:35:42
Speaker
Okay, okay, you were right. You were right. That's my bad. Yeah. ah Maybe I heard it from ah Tech Talk or something. So you can take them out. You cannot put stuff in. That makes me feel better what about... If you take it out from ZA and it goes into something else and then back into home, it can't return to ZA.
01:36:01
Speaker
Got it. If it goes to from ZA, you trade it with another ZA mod in the in the g and the GTS, you can still put it back because it's only been in ZA. um And I think that's how this one has this one works because simply because of the different mechanics the game has and everything.

GameCube Remakes and Nostalgia

01:36:21
Speaker
ah So it makes it 10 times more difficult to put a... Even if the Pokemon's been in CA, it's like a whole mess of a thing.
01:36:32
Speaker
So yeah, that's that's that. That is that, folks. Mm-hmm. ah With that, is there anything else you would like to add on Pokemon spinoffs before we jump into the second topic?
01:36:45
Speaker
Um...
01:36:48
Speaker
ah Not that I can think of, no. All right. ah With that, we're moving on to our second topic of the day, which is the GameCube era and remakes of those games.
01:37:02
Speaker
ah Because the GameCube era is getting more games ah and more remasters by the years. What are some of your standouts that you have played or have have have wanted to play but just haven't gotten around to yet?
01:37:18
Speaker
um I know there's a lot of original GameCube games that I haven't gotten to. ah i As a kid, mom would just kind of grab whatever game and then give it to us. So I played stuff like ah the SpongeBob movie on the GameCube. Fantastic game. I replayed that one this year. Fantastic game. Played that one growing up. I adore them, but I don't think they're going to be getting a remake anytime soon. I mean, Spongebob Battle for Bikini Bottom got a remake.
01:37:51
Speaker
Oh, i that's that's one game I haven't played, surprisingly. I really want to play that. It is the best Spongebob game, one of the best 3D platformers ever. The original, the remake's alright. Play the original over it if you get the chance to.
01:38:06
Speaker
um It is fantastic. If you like the SpongeBob movie game, Battle for Bikini Bottom is its predecessor, and it is just so, it is fantastic.
01:38:18
Speaker
Yeah, there's a there's quite a few big-name games on the GameCube that I have just never played. I've never played Wind Waker before. i really want to. Same.
01:38:29
Speaker
I've still never properly played through Wind Waker. ah What else? I own it too. I've never played it. I've never been one for ah Smash Bros. I've never played that. It's just when I think of playing a fighting game it's like oh I have to remember combos to do stuff but I don't want to remember so I just don't really play them.
01:38:55
Speaker
mean Smash Bros. Casually Smash Bros. you don't need a lot of combos. No. You just gotta jump a lot. Oh, okay, okay. It's a platform fighter. It's not a traditional fighter.
01:39:09
Speaker
Usually, ah fighting games like that, I just spam a button and hope I win. Yeah, no, it's not a traditional fighter. It's a platform fighter. Got it. Oh, you... This is... Wait, you... That's actually... I've never met someone who's never really touched a Smash Bros game.
01:39:27
Speaker
I've never... That's... the The fact that you thought that it was actually like a a proper fighting game is actually kind of I've i've never i've never played that ah

Platformer Remakes and Classics

01:39:39
Speaker
what other big name GameCube games were there?
01:39:42
Speaker
um let's see you got the good question let me look oh Pikmin I've never played the actually last year was the first time I played Pikmin I've never got into Pikmin. It's like one of the one of those franchises I never could get into.
01:40:04
Speaker
That's fair. um I did play ah Mario Party 7. i played the whole hell out of that game. 7's a solid one. Not the best one, but it's solid.
01:40:15
Speaker
my only Mario Party ever. That's your only Mario Party? I've never played any of the other Mario Parties. You're a GameCube grower-upper. am shooketh right now. how it Did you play Air Ride?
01:40:32
Speaker
No, I've never played Kirby Air Ride. okay Okay, to be fair, that one is more of like, well, that one's that fair. i was ah I was a Double Dash nerd. I absolutely love Mario Kart Double Dash. Did play any of the Mario sports games?
01:40:50
Speaker
No. Did you play Metroid Prime? I've never played a Metroid game before. Did you play ah any of the Sonic games? I've never played Sonic. I've never played any these Zelda games. I've never played any Metroid games. I've never played any ah Metal Gear games. and i mean, to be fair, i've never played a Metal Gear yet either. So like that one's not that bad. ah There are so many like big name games that I have never played.
01:41:21
Speaker
this I am shooketh right now. but But I want to get to them at some point. I i found a website where you can... It's it's called Backlogged, where you can actually have... Make backlog.
01:41:33
Speaker
Yeah. There are so many... like i know one game I'm planning on streaming this year is ah playing Okami for the first time. That's on my backlog as well, simply because they announced Okami 2. Yeah.
01:41:48
Speaker
Oh, that reminds me. ah Luigi's Mansion. I've never played. How the fuck have you not played Luigi's Mansion? what What do you mean you haven't played the game that was... that The GameCube game. The GameCube game that you know was like the launch title...
01:42:08
Speaker
Ruby, i mean not I'm dying here, Ruby. I am i am going to die. i am ready to... I'm dying in Minecraft right now. What do you mean?
01:42:19
Speaker
Let me see if I can name the GameCube games I have played. SpongeBob Movie. Okay. Shrek 2. Uh-huh. Mario Party 7, Double Dash, Gala Darkness, yada, yada, yada. Yeah. um Year of... Spyro Year of the Dragonfly. Okay.
01:42:35
Speaker
at least played a Spyro game. That's that's good. Oh, I absolutely love Spyro. As in, Deer of the Dragonfly is not a great Spyro game. No, no. It's necessary, but at least you played a Spyro.
01:42:47
Speaker
I played ah the GameCube, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. i think i think I beat that one? Or Sorcerer's Stone. Well, it's Sorcerer's Stone in the West. Sorcerer's, yes. Philosopher's Stone in the British. That's actually one of the GameCube games I don't own.
01:43:09
Speaker
Really? Now, granted, I only have four Harry Potter games, which is ah Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of the Fire, and the Quidditch one.
01:43:21
Speaker
I think that's still kind of missing think I had the Goblet of Fire one, but the I think as a kid, the visuals were like too serious, so I preferred the other Harry Potter game.
01:43:34
Speaker
But, um, I'm going to absolutely butcher the name of this series. But one of my favorite GameCube games, I never got too far in it, but, uh, Batinkaitos? Is that how it's pronounced?
01:43:49
Speaker
The what? Uh, it's, it's spelled B-A-T-E-N and then K- Oh, Batinkaitos! That's how you say it, okay. Oh, okay, you played Batinkaitos. That's, in kaittos that's yes you know what?
01:44:01
Speaker
Based. yeah the the battle like the the fight theme is so good I never fired did you play both of them or there's two of them what's the names of the two There's Baton Kaito's Origins and then Baton Kaito's Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean. is That one.
01:44:26
Speaker
that one Eternal Wings. I never got far because as a kid it was difficult. I want... That's a very... I can't decide if I want to stream the original or if I want to stream the remaster that came out.
01:44:42
Speaker
I always say go for the remasters because there's usually a lot more quality of life stuff. When it comes to that kind of stuff. Like the only times I'll ever say play the original is like is like platformers simply because like usually when they remaster or a remake or remaster a platformer, it's done in a different engine and it may not feel as good as the original depending on how the original felt.
01:45:07
Speaker
That's usually the one that will always go 50-50 on our platformers. Otherwise, if it's like an RPG or usually anything else, I always say go for the remaster as long as it's affordable. All right. i'll I'll keep that in mind for whenever I get around to it. um This isn't a GameCube remake necessarily, but have you played the remake of the Spyro games?
01:45:31
Speaker
ah They're the one remakes I have not played yet. I want to eventually. I 100%ed all three ah games within the Reignited Trilogy. I absolutely love Spyro so much. Nice. Okay, good. we At least you played Spyro.

Game Remakes Wishlist

01:45:47
Speaker
Yes. wait Okay, has playing Spyro made you want to play Crash Bandicoot at all?
01:45:51
Speaker
I tried Crash Bandicoot for some reason. I couldn't get used to the controls. They're hard games too. i will maybe you I will go back to it someday, but I know a lot of early platformers that I really want to play. um Ratchet and Clank I've never played. Jak and Daxter I've never played.
01:46:09
Speaker
Sly Cooper I've never played. ah Those three are high up on my list for games I want to stream. Basically the PlayStation trinity of platformers right there. Yes, I really. i Which of those three should I play first? ah Depends on what you're going for. If you want to go for something that's like a solid collect-a-thon, sort of like the SpongeBob platformer games, go for Jak and Daxter. If you want something with stealth elements, go for Sly Cooper. And if you want to just like run, beat things up, and shoot things, go for Ratchet & Clank.
01:46:44
Speaker
Got it. Got it. that's That's the best way to explain that. I've only played Ratchet and Clank game, but I'm well-versed in everything else that I can safely say that for the other two.
01:46:57
Speaker
um For the longest time... if If we would have done this episode last year, I would have said my number one remake I'm hoping for is Pac-Man World 2. But it happened. Yeah, Repack 2 happened. And they gave it Sonic DLC and they put Pac-Man in Cross Worlds.
01:47:17
Speaker
I got to play my funny Pac-Man game on my Switch and it's beautiful. And they fixed all of the issues with the original game and the music is amazing. And I absolutely, I love it so much. Did you play ah Repack 1?
01:47:32
Speaker
as well Yes, yes, actually. i ah So when they announced it, I actually streamed me playing Pac-Man World 1 right up until ah the release of Pac-Man World 2. And then I also played Pac-Man World 3 after that, which was interesting, do have to say. Do you think World 3 will get a repack?
01:47:54
Speaker
That's the thing. It's not... that great of a game. it's It was very fun to stream because there was a lot of stuff wrong with it. um But if I played it off stream, I probably would not have finished it. it It's just it's not a great game. oh um I don't think it's going to get a remake, but if it does, like i'm I'm definitely playing it.
01:48:17
Speaker
If it does, at least there's some some decent Pac-Man games aside from that. Because ah how big of a Pac-Man fan are you out of sheer curiosity?
01:48:28
Speaker
I am. I'm not like.
01:48:33
Speaker
Number one fan level, but I definitely ah if any of my friends have a Pac-Man question, they come to me. Okay. Did you play Shadow Labyrinth at all?
01:48:44
Speaker
No, but i've i've it's it's a little different from what i'm usually ah what i usually play, but it has Pac-Man, so I kind of want to play it. Okay, I will say this. Play any other Metroidvania.
01:48:57
Speaker
Play anything else. di Shadow Labyrinth is not it. Oh, no. It is not it. It is... is Okay, well, actually, okay, I shouldn't say that. It's interesting But man, did I find it very boring for a Metroidvania.
01:49:14
Speaker
It was very hard to stay engaged. Got it. Because usually ah games with that kind of style, I see it and it's like, oh, this game has like a dark and gloomy vibe to it. It's a Dark Souls, ain't it?
01:49:28
Speaker
No, it's a Metroidvania. It's actually very easy. Interesting. It's just a little bit boring. i ah I don't really play Metroidvanias 2 too much, but I have been trying to ah try different game genres because I want to experience a lot more than, you know, platformers and yeah collecting. and I mean, are there any... i mean do you want any recommendations for some Metroidvanias?
01:49:57
Speaker
Yeah, absolutely. Okay, I should ask, have people recommended you Metroidvanias 2 play so I don't overlap? um Two come to mind. ah I played the Blaster Master series. I played the first game, and then I got a little bit into the second game, realized the second game is a lot harder than the first, and gave up.
01:50:17
Speaker
um But I really like how it plays and the story and all that. And then the other one is I recently started Hollow Knight. Okay. Like a few minutes into... hot Not minutes. Yeah.
01:50:30
Speaker
I'd say like an an hour or so into Hollow Knight. I beat the first boss so far. um Okay. Okay. I'm not one for very difficult games because I get frustrated very easily. Yeah. um But i want I want to try at least.
01:50:47
Speaker
Plus, the the game was gifted to me, so I kind of have to. No, that's good. um I would say play Castlevania 2. It's probably one of the best Metroidvania games out there.
01:51:02
Speaker
While it's like old did like a bit dated, it's still like just... one of the best that there is of the genre. um And legitt any Metroid game. Any of the 2D Metroid games, because they're obviously that's what the genre is based on. Yes.
01:51:20
Speaker
ah Those are what I would recommend. ah basically if you want a 3d version of one go play scooby-doo and like uh the night of a hundred frights or whatever for the gamecube uh that's like a 3d magicvania where you play as uh scooby interesting yeah i'm i'm all for like uh what's um is I think aesthetic is the right word. any Any game that has like cute characters or like great colors, that's that's my type of thing.
01:51:54
Speaker
Fair enough. ah Very fair. um Are there any other GameCube games that you would like to see a remaster of or a full remake of down the line?
01:52:06
Speaker
Or just any games from your childhood in general that you would like to see? Oh, games in general that I want a remake of. I guess not a remake, but I would love a new Poke Park game.
01:52:18
Speaker
That would be cool. I don't know if they would even... i how we How would that even work, though? It's it's like... it's like this the sad thing about Pokemon spinoffs is like once they like do its initial thing and like give it the sequel or whatever, like aside from Mystery Dungeon, we're probably never seeing those spinoffs ever again.

Retro Game Market and Digital vs Physical

01:52:40
Speaker
Which is like a shame. I guess most of the games that I'd want to get attention are Pokemon games. Like, I would love to see a remake of Explorers of Sky, but... I think it's very possible considering we saw the Mystery Dungeon DX.
01:53:00
Speaker
True. I feel like since we haven't seen a Mystery Dungeon game yes past that, i wondered if I've been wondering if they're making a DX of the Explorers game.
01:53:12
Speaker
That would be awesome. i I would love to play that. So that's why I feel like we haven't seen anything mystery dungeon wise in a while. Also, those games are also developed like by like Spike Chunsoft. So it's like they've been doing their own stuff too. So i wonder if it's just they've been busy.
01:53:28
Speaker
Too busy, yeah. ah The other one ah that comes to mind, ah Gen 5 remakes. Except I don't know if I want it to be three d
01:53:44
Speaker
Would you like, like you, you would rather see them in like the HD2D style? Like in, in the style of Octopath. Yeah. Yeah. The HD2D style. I feel like that is what that generation deserves as the final pixel art Pokemon game. don't know. I think they should make it with AI, the most American thing that Pokemon could do for the America region.
01:54:09
Speaker
who ah Make it look completely AI-generated for America, just for America. yeah. And that's what they give us. It would be an honor to... And then it comes with the cheese. I don't know.
01:54:27
Speaker
Oh, sorry. ah Fucking Christ. Sleep is fucking over. ah No, I think, honestly, i i like a lot of people say that Pokemon making something in the HD2D style would be cool. Will they ever do it? I don't know.
01:54:45
Speaker
i feel like not since they've gone 3D, they're not looking back. Um... I'm like Square, who's like, oh yeah, this the AC2D sounds great. It's perfect for certain of our franchises, and we're going to keep using it and pushing it forward and whatnot, and that's great.
01:55:04
Speaker
But I don't think Pokemon's ever going to use it. No, as much as I, I mean, i say that I hope for a ah something Gala Darkness, you know, I got the, it's on the switch. That's, that's a little something, but I, I'm hoping for like, I don't know, a third game maybe, or just a little, a little love to that. It would be cool.
01:55:27
Speaker
I mean, the nice thing about Gala Darkness stuff being on NSO, you can make save states and make shiny hunting easier question mark.
01:55:35
Speaker
That is true. Because I know that you gotta just do RNG manipulation with that game, so it's like... Yeah. at least ah that But having save states, that makes it a bit better. i ah I mean, I'm a little more help a hopeful now because Pac-Man 2 got a remake.
01:55:54
Speaker
Those two were right next to each other with my ah top games I want remakes for, and then Pac-Man got it, so what about Gale of Darkness? Hmm. You never, you know what? You never know. but Who knows? Maybe Pokemon will see that. It's like, what if we meet remake these old spinoff games?
01:56:12
Speaker
What if people actually listen to our fans? Right. Imagine Pokemon listening to their fans. Imagine. That'd be crazy.
01:56:23
Speaker
That crazy. yeah. Is there any... oh okay. One last question I do have for you before we move on to the bonus level. ah Because when it comes to retro games, ah even when they do get remakes, the retro games themselves tend not to budge in price. What are your thoughts on the current retro game market?
01:56:47
Speaker
I mean, it's understandable that old games are pricey. But, like... Seeing how, like, oh, that's another game I haven't played. Mario Sunshine. Good God.
01:57:00
Speaker
I gotta play that one. Ruby, you have done so much emotional damage to me this episode. don't know if can think anymore. I haven't played single 3D Mario game. None of them Odyssey.
01:57:17
Speaker
but but But anyways, um it's understandable that the prices of them have gone up, but I feel like hundreds of dollars for Mario Sunshine is a little absurd.
01:57:27
Speaker
a little bit but um I'm not one for collecting physical games um I've always been more so on the side of getting it digitally for the fact of I am forgetful and I am afraid I'm gonna lose it kind of thing valid um I'm not happy about the whole game key card thing but Yeah, i
01:57:58
Speaker
Not a fan of it, but it also doesn't affect me too, too much since I do digital games yeah mostly. Yeah, same. It's like the only physical things I collect now are GameCube.
01:58:09
Speaker
um Everything else, PlayStation, Switch. i mean, Steam's entirely digital, so like, you know, it's not like you can do anything physical for that, but it's like I do digital everything else but just because it's easier.
01:58:24
Speaker
It's just so much easier and convenient right now. ah Like, I get for the people who like collecting all their games physically, I understand the distaste distaste towards the key card system.
01:58:38
Speaker
i i just... i don't I don't like it. yes It's definitely a weird choice that Nintendo made there. There's no game on the card. It's just a key to download the game anyway. So what's the fucking point? What's the point?
01:58:57
Speaker
feel bad for those who just don't have internet. But then again, they're not complaining about it on Twitter because they don't have internet.

Shadow Pokémon Favorite Bracket

01:59:03
Speaker
You're not wrong. ah With that, I think we're going to dive into our final ah final segment of the day and jump on into the bonus level to close things out. Crazy lists, great deals, and recapping gaming history. It's all here in the bonus level.
01:59:20
Speaker
Alright, to kick things off, we've got Game Clash, Ruby. ah This is where we put eight things head-to-head within a themed topic, and you're the person who gets to decide ah how the matches all go. Our theme today is in tune with Pokémon XD.
01:59:36
Speaker
I have grabbed eight um iconic, iconic, um you know, specific Shadow Pokémon. ah You're going to sign the winner of this whole thing. Are you ready?
01:59:48
Speaker
I am ready. All right. Match one. We've got Lovrina's Delcaddy versus Mirror Dragonite.
01:59:58
Speaker
For this one, um on one hand, I use Delcati in my original playthrough a lot. Plus, I love Leverina. She's amazing. um And you get to see more Delcati compared to Dragonite, which is, ah spoilers, ah the very last shadow that you find.
02:00:20
Speaker
um Dragonite is, like, ah competitive... ah wise better but I gotta go with Delcati just because I have more experience and it's a cat how could I not match 2 we got what was his name Grook Gook i okay Zook right Zook we have his Zangoose versus ah Naps' is Teddy Ursa the first shadow Pokemon you get
02:00:57
Speaker
Going by the game standpoint, ah Teddy Ursa is very important because it's the catching tutorial, basically. it is. um Every time I see a Teddy Ursa now, it's like, oh, yeah, Gala Darkness.
02:01:10
Speaker
I remember. um But on the other hand, Zangoose... Is bad that I thought you were going to say, whenever I see Teddy Ursa, I want to punch him in the face? No! He's just a little guy!
02:01:22
Speaker
um Zangoose, on the other hand, has a little more of a prominent part of being like the henchman, ah his ace or whatever. Right?
02:01:34
Speaker
Yeah, his ace. Yeah. um And that comes down to... I'd say Teddy Ursa, just because the memories of starting a new game and and getting Teddy Ursa on your team and all that.
02:01:54
Speaker
um Not so much for evolving it, just Teddy Ursa. All right. We got Shadow Lugia versus is Dawn Zapp's Primeape.
02:02:05
Speaker
So usually with Pokemon games, I never use legendaries because I feel like I'm cheating. um But Shadow Lugia is so cool.
02:02:17
Speaker
It is so cool. It is the only shadow that has like a special form to it. um And it's the main unpurifiable shadow, right? With quotations.
02:02:28
Speaker
um And then ah there's a Primeape, I guess. my but I'm gonna go with Lugia just for the fact of I'm not that big a fan of Primeape.
02:02:43
Speaker
All right, and lastly, we got Snaddle's Lunatone in Eldis' Salamence. um Immediately, I'm going to go with Salamence because the fight against the Lunatone and Solrock spamming Shadow Rain made me so mad so many times.
02:03:05
Speaker
Yup, you have no idea how true that is. It's so annoying. It's the the fight where they introduce the ah Shadow Rain move. And it's... i Give me givemme settlements. it big Big dragon. Give me big dragon.
02:03:20
Speaker
Alright, moving on to the semifinals. Delcaddy versus Teddiursa. Oh no! Oh... oh
02:03:31
Speaker
I'd say for the fact of I took it all the way to the end of the game, I'm gonna have to say Delcati. And Lugia versus Salamence. Lugia has the cool shadow form, but at the same time, I never really use legendaries.
02:03:47
Speaker
Um, I'd say Salamence. All right, grand finals, Delcati versus Salamence. Am I going to be silly and pick the silly cat as the final answer?
02:03:59
Speaker
i think I am. and with that Dell caddy is what takes the lid over the shadow Pokemon bracket.
