00:01:02
Speaker
I'm glad you had me on. yeah Yeah. Glad to have found you. but yeah i I found you playing Tunic. i yeah like Right at the end of your Tunic playthrough that I discovered. Yeah. And I'm like, yo, I love Tunic to death is one of my favorite games of all time. Fantastic game. Yeah. It's such a fantastic game. And, yeah you know, I love seeing people play it. glad You enjoyed it too, ah from what I've gathered. Oh, it was so great. I have my notes and everything still on my shelf. I have like eight pages of notes I think I took during the game.
00:01:35
Speaker
that's That's awesome. I love to see that. Well, welcome to the Game Lounge. Because you are brand new here, we get to start off with the loading screen where you get to give us your favorite video game, video game character, and video game soundtrack.
00:01:50
Speaker
All right. You want them just just straight up right off the bat? Yeah, I know. it's it's It is the first question we ask all new guests. Because that it's
PlayStation State of Play: Upcoming Games
00:01:59
Speaker
how we found to find out what kind of gamer they really are.
00:02:01
Speaker
All right, so favorite game, i mean, and this is probably just the the most hours I've put into, it's probably going to be The Binding of Isaac. Oh, okay. I love me a roguelike and the infinite replayability and just how crazy you can make those runs go.
00:02:18
Speaker
and It's got to be Binding of Isaac for favorite game for me. Nice, nice. Either that or or followed up by Slay the Spire, which again, roguelike, you know, deck builder. It's the best of the best as far as that goes.
00:02:31
Speaker
Okay, what about game character? character Character has to be the the nostalgic one for me. ah So my first game console I had was the original PlayStation.
00:02:43
Speaker
um So it's got to go to Crash Bandicoot for character. Nice. That's a good choice. My first ever Crash game was ah The Wrath of Cortex. Okay, nice. Yep. Yeah. I didn't have the first Crash game, so I had Crash 2 and Crash 3, and I think I played the most i think i played Crash 3 warped the most out of the two of those.
00:03:04
Speaker
Nice. so Yeah. I love that character. He's so funny. um i don't necessarily love all the iterations of the character, but you know... ah We don't talk about what was it? rat Clash of the Titans. Yeah, we don't talk about but tribal tattoo crash and all that sort of stuff. god That was an era.
00:03:23
Speaker
yeah That was like like the ex the weird Xbox era of Crash that happened.
Digimon Game Excitement
00:03:32
Speaker
Yeah, for OST, ah I would say Katana Zero. and It's just got the perfect ah like synth wave and like I don't know, something about that soundtrack gets me so locked in.
00:03:44
Speaker
I've listened to it so many times and it's like my go-to thing where if I'm at work, I put that soundtrack on and I'm just in it. It's so good. Nice. That's a really good choice. I have not played Katana Zero yet. I have a long list of games I still need to play. Of course, we all do yeah we all do i like and like it Even after playing games last year,
00:04:06
Speaker
i still there's still so many i still i Well, now's a good time, or soon at least, because they've got the ah new DLC coming. they We got a trailer for it after years and years of thinking we would never actually see the DLC come. so Just saying. There'll be more content when you if you do get around to it.
00:04:24
Speaker
Exciting. Okay. Well, we now get into Hot Takes, where our guest gives their hottest video game take. So Evan, what is your hottest video game take?
00:04:36
Speaker
PlayStation and Xbox don't need to be in the handheld market. Straight up. You know what that is? True. I just don't think it's necessary at all. I think it's a waste of time for both companies.
00:04:49
Speaker
Yeah, like, yeah. Okay, to be fair, I think PlayStation's first attempt in the portable market with the PSP was fine.
00:05:01
Speaker
i think with the portal, we don't need it. it's it's It's at this point, I just think like diversifying their product into the handheld market is just like watering down what they have to offer, you know?
Industry Updates: Cancellations and Legal Issues
00:05:16
Speaker
the Vita 2. that I mean, I love my Vita, but you want to know what's funny? So I had i had the Vita pretty early on, yeah and there weren't a lot of games for it ever, right?
00:05:29
Speaker
so i ended up I ended up trading it to a guy for a ah Game Boy Advance SP. but i would know I was like, I can play the watered down versions of like Uncharted or Sly Cooper on here, or I'll just get an SP and play Game Boy games. Yeah. I got the watered down version of those at Persona 4 Golden.
00:05:49
Speaker
Right. Yeah. That's it. Wow. Yeah, no, that's pretty good. um My hottest video game take, because I do like sharing it because the people, think it's a good reaction.
00:06:01
Speaker
I think Mario 64 is a very bad game casually. You know what? the mo i say this as someone who relatively recently went back through and learned how to beat the game in like 30 minutes. Oh, nice.
00:06:17
Speaker
The movement when you learn how to do like play the game quickly is fantastic. yeah absolutely At least as a kid and like any other time I tried to play it, i did not get the movement. I did not get the camera.
00:06:30
Speaker
It was just kind of clunky and annoying, especially after going back after playing like some of the other like newer 3D Mario games. it's It is kind of rough. So I feel it. Yes. And now granted that is its age showing, but even still like when when it had, when its age was like lesser and like still kind of new, I still never cared for the movement of it. Now I did recently re replay it in a sense. I used the co-op 64 mod recently,
00:06:55
Speaker
and played with a couple friends. And that's one, it fixes the camera because it gives you a free cam mode, which fixes the camera, camera greatly and makes it a bit more better.
00:07:06
Speaker
And like, obviously years since I'm now a grown gamer,
Nintendo Switch 2 Launch and Game Pricing
00:07:10
Speaker
ah I was like, oh, yeah, I kind of understand how this movement is supposed to work. So it's not as bad. But there's still there were still some jank times in there where I was mad.
00:07:22
Speaker
Absolutely. Well, I mean, and you know, you can't discredit it because it was kind of the first game to do what it did. a pioneer as well for three platformers. Yeah, but especially now, I think i think its age ah for the the most casual of gamers makes it pretty rough.
00:07:40
Speaker
Yep. No, absolutely. And that's why I say casually and not overall because... correct Yeah, I feel it there. Speedrunners with this game make this game look incredible still. It's so fun. i i Yeah. i And granted, I wasn't doing like the fastest speedrun routes or anything. It was just like, can I beat the game quickly?
00:07:59
Speaker
So I got it under half an hour, which which which felt pretty good to pull off. I'll take it. That was like, what is it? freece Is it three stars? That is the minimum or is it one star or 16? No. like So the half an hour route I did, I think was over 10 stars. I can't remember how many I ended up getting into Okay, so it was probably 16 stars. It was like 15 or 16, yeah. Yeah, you see, I have a couple of Mario speedrunner friends.
00:08:24
Speaker
So it's like, I know the, I think it's like, there's a one star category, a zero star category. 16 star is the most common one. Yeah, so i didn care I think it was that. It was well, and it wasn't like i wasn't playing an actual route. It was and don't know if it was you know, this the streamer Northern Lion.
00:08:42
Speaker
he He got into it a few years ago. ah So I was just doing his route, which you called egg percent. ah And then the of So i don't know I don't know what the real routes are or anything, but it was fun nonetheless.
00:08:54
Speaker
yeah Cool. That's sick. yeah the My best speedrun achievement, because for those who don't know, I used to speedrun for a period of three months. Nice. And I got a sub-hour time in Sonic Adventure 2 Hero Story.
00:09:08
Speaker
That's pretty fun. is That's but that's but my claim to speedrunning fame. That's all I've done. it It was fun. It was, it's like, you know what? I like Sonic Adventure 2 a lot. After speed running that game, I don't like it as much anymore. ah my nostalgia goggles yeah My nostalgia goggles for that game really went off after learning speed run tricks, but fire no water I was able to get both of the boxes and that's at the end of the day, that's all that matters.
00:09:36
Speaker
Anyway, hey, I said it at the top. We've got a loaded show, folks. Summer Game Fest has happened. I have watched. I have consumed too much media, and I got i wrote it down on a piece of paper, and we're going talk about that. and Starting off, our headline of the week is the event that happened right before Summer Game Fest, but we still classify it as part of Summer Game Fest.
00:09:56
Speaker
The PlayStation State of Play, which dropped out of the blue as as of last we as of last episode, we were like, yeah, they're PlayStation, Nintendo, only groups that haven't announced a Nintendo Direct or a State of Play.
00:10:08
Speaker
And then PlayStation out here, like, hey, we're dropping it after Tony's podcast, like everything else big that happens. And I'm like, ah thanks play

00:10:34
Speaker
Pragmata, which has not been seen since 2021 from Capcom, got a brand new trailer and has a new release date of 2026.
00:10:45
Speaker
A lot of people were happy about that to see that again. Still don't really know what it's about, but I'm sure we'll learn more as the year goes on. Romeo is a dead man. The brand new game from Suda 51, a trippy ultra violent sci-fi adventure hack and slash action game.
00:11:03
Speaker
This is coming out next year and I'm excited to see it. I'm also still hoping that they'll port no more heroes one and two onto the other consoles. Yeah. Cause, uh,
00:11:15
Speaker
yeah You know, I'd like to play the No More Heroes game, but No More Heroes 3 is the only one that's on PlayStation and stuff. And I'm like, I want to play other stuff. Yeah, that makes it pretty inaccessible. Yeah, I i want i want to... like Even if they just put ah No More Heroes 1 and 2 on the Switch, Switch 2, so I can jerk off my Joy-Cons. Like i write you could the Wiimote back in those games.
00:11:40
Speaker
Silent Hill F got a brand new whole-ass cinematic trailer. That's coming out September 25th with pre-orders available now. We'll be getting a little bit more into Silent Hill F later on as well. ah Bloodstained, the Scarlet Engagement was shown off. This is looking like a Metroidvania. type game.
00:11:56
Speaker
ah Then the hype is trailer for me. Digimon story time stranger releasing October 3rd confirming an English dub and showing off the pre-order bonuses.
00:12:08
Speaker
Oh, I am so ready. i am so excited for this. I recently just finished Digimon story cyber sleuth and I'll be playing hacker's memory very soon. and and i'm just I'm excited because I get to play three Digimon games in a single year.
00:12:26
Speaker
and i saw I saw that one get get announced and I said, you know what? I know Tony's excited for this one because I know you have been playing. Oh my God, you have like no idea. and for those yeah give the did youmon so Give Cyber Sleuth a chance, folks. If you want to get back into Digimon because you grew up watching the show here and there, play Cyber Sleuth.
00:12:47
Speaker
in Hacker's Memory because the nostalgia will hit you with all the Digimon and the Digivolution mechanic is a addicting. It's like crack. I kid you not.
00:12:58
Speaker
It is like crack and I like it. Then in Out of the Blue ah Final Fantasy Tactics The Evil East Chronicles got announced. This is a remaster of the OG FF tactics game, and it's being done by Creative Business Suite 3, a.k.a.
00:13:17
Speaker
the team behind Final Fantasy XIV and Final Fantasy XVI. Yoshi fucking P is back doing this. And you know what? Let's go. i am very excited for this as well. This drops September 30th.
00:13:31
Speaker
should this be my first Final Fantasy game I play? You know what? Honestly, it's a good starting point. is's very I love me
Event Highlights: New Announcements and Updates
00:13:38
Speaker
some tactics. I love me some tactics games over JRPGs, honestly. So it might it might be the way I have to get my get in.
00:13:46
Speaker
yeah Honestly, yeah. um It takes place in Ivalice, which is the same world where FF12 takes place. Except it's much further in the past than where FF12 is on like the timeline of things.
00:14:01
Speaker
um So if you will honestly, I've heard nothing but great things about the tactics game. So it's ah if you if you want to get into it and you know like tactics games like Fire Emblem or Advanced Wars, definitely give it a shot.
00:14:13
Speaker
All right. um We then got a couple of rapid fire titles. Baby Steps, which is that co-op like adventure game, ah is releasing September a Hero Gami, a origami action adventure game is releasing September 3rd.
00:14:29
Speaker
Everybody's Golf Hot Shots is releasing September 5th. And if you preorder the game, you can play as Pac-Man, which we love, which is, you know, you got to play it, which we love.
00:14:41
Speaker
Pac-Man is getting a lot of love recently. I feel like. Well, I mean, that's normal Pac-Man. We're getting edgy Pac-Man later this year. yeah Right, exactly. Which, i you know, that's a whole other conversation. That is a whole other conversation.
00:14:54
Speaker
Ninja Gaiden Ragebound got a release date for July 31st. I think this is the first time we're hearing about the 2D Ninja Gaiden's release date. Mm-hmm. Cairn, a survival climbing game, releases November 5th.
00:15:07
Speaker
Mortal Kombat Legacy Collection was announced, and that's coming out later this year. I believe it's consisting of Mortal Kombat's 1, 2, 3, all of their versions, and a bunch of other but wretch like older Mortal Kombat games. I don't remember the exact ones, but I know it's the first three for sure.
00:15:27
Speaker
Possibly more. I don't know when they went into 3D, but still all the 2D stuff. They also then announced that PlayStation isn't making an official fight stick. So if you really if you want an expensive fight stick for no reason, get the PlayStation one.
00:15:42
Speaker
For no reason, I mean, right? Yeah, exactly. It's going to cost like the same as the Switch 2. ah Yikes. I mean, what do you think? You know, it's got to be at least a couple hundred bucks, right? It might be. I might i don't know. I don't know how much fight sticks go for. I've never had to buy a fight stick. So yeah I don't really know.
00:16:05
Speaker
We got a new trailer for Metal Gear Solid Delta that drops August 28th. More on that later as well. Nioh 3 was revealed and that's coming early 2026. Thief VR Legacy of Shadow comes out this year for PlayStation VR 2 being set in the world of Thief 2014.
00:16:24
Speaker
The bad game that gave me Vertigo for some weird reason. That's coming. So now I can catch a Vertigo even more in VR because I have a PSVR 2. So I could I don't know. I might try it. I don't know.
00:16:38
Speaker
ah Tides of Tomorrow was announced releasing for February 24th, 2026.
00:16:43
Speaker
Astro Bot is getting five more challenge levels later this month. And an official Astro Bot controller is coming out later this year. And it looks super cute. And it is worth the money because I think Astro Bot is worth all the money in the world.
00:16:57
Speaker
Sea of Remnants was shown off and that's coming out 2026. Sword of the Sea, a brand new game from the Journey and Abzu devs. That's coming August nineteen and will be on PlayStation Plus.
00:17:10
Speaker
I believe they announced that as well. Nice. That's a yeah That's a big win. um FBC Firebreak is coming June 17th, and that will be on PlayStation Plus as well. This is the new co-op shooter um being set in the world as Control and Alan Wake.
00:17:26
Speaker
They also announced that there's some new PS Plus classics coming. Deus Ex and Twisted Metal 3 and 4 are coming. just Deus Ex is out now.
00:17:37
Speaker
And Twisted Metal 3 and 4 will be out when the new season of Twisted Metal premieres. And also, Myst and Riven are out, I think, later this week on PlayStation Plus when you're listening to the podcast.
00:17:50
Speaker
ah We then got into our final three things that they showed off. First off, a first the look at 007 First Light, the brand new IO Interactive James Bond game, which is set for 2026.
00:18:03
Speaker
Ghost of Yotei was briefly shown off. They basically announced, hey, we're doing a deep dive for the gameplay in July. And lastly, Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls, a brand new Arc System Works tag team fighting game 4v4. They're just coming out 2026. And that was everything from the PlayStation State of Play. Evan, do you have any final thoughts on what was shown off?
00:18:32
Speaker
You know, and i did watch this whole one. I think I watched most of the the showcases as they were coming. It's hard to say because a lot of the games that were showed off in general, I feel like not a lot of gameplay was shown off, if that's fair. Yeah.
00:18:47
Speaker
So without seeing that, it's really hard to say. um i am really excited for Sword of the Sea. I really love Journey and Abzu. and So I'm excited to see more of that. I think we had already gotten a trailer of that, though, if I'm not mistaken. We might have. i Honestly, don't know.
00:19:03
Speaker
don't remember simply because they've shown there's been there's a lot yeah yay yeah yeah um i think there was something from that earlier you know i'm i'm interested to see what happens with 007 just because that's a franchise that's not really tapped that much you know so that's an interesting thing yeah yeah yeah i don't know there i think there's a lot of cool stuff coming but until i see more gameplay of stuff it's really hard to say No, that's definitely fair.
00:19:29
Speaker
And now we're gonna dive into everything else that happened that wasn't Summer Game Fest related, because trust trust me, there was a lot of Summer Game Fest still to come. But let's look at the other stuff that, you know, we don't want to pass over. Here is what happened last two weeks within the week in review. Recapping the major stories of video games and the world of tabletop.
00:19:50
Speaker
Looking over recent releases and reports from the Game Lounge crew, it's the week in review. And kicking it off, starting with the last two weeks' major game releases, we had Bravely Default's Flying Fairy HD Remaster, Mario Kart World, Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, Delta Rune chapters 1 through 4, Warhammer 40K Space Marine Master Crafted Edition, and Dune Awakening ah for just some of the games that came out in these past two weeks.
00:20:19
Speaker
both Some of those Switch 2 launch titles, which we'll get into in a little bit. um Warhammer 40k, the first is re getting a remaster. And Dune Awakening. People are excited for Dune Awakening.
00:20:31
Speaker
In the world of video game news, Black Myth Wukong is coming to Xbox on August twentieth In some Dungeons & Dragons news, Demio X Dungeons & Dragons Battlemarked dropped a recent trailer.
00:20:45
Speaker
ah This upcoming project based on the Demio action roleplaying system looks and feels a lot like another project that was shown off well that was cancelled by Wizards of the Coast, ah the VTT virtual tabletop sigil.
00:20:59
Speaker
While there is no correlation between the two products, it's still an interesting coincidence that one was canceled and now they dropped the trailer for this new thing. um So possibly it was a rebrand thing or who knows what it could have been.
00:21:13
Speaker
In movie news, Blumhouse is working on a phasmophobia movie now to add to their repertoire of horror and other stuff. I don't know how they're going to do a phasmophobia movie.
00:21:25
Speaker
yeah It'll be interesting to see what happens with that. Yeah. i like Are they going to do it like felt like a found footage thing where it's like, oh, the ghost hunters entered this house and they're all dead on the floor.
00:21:37
Speaker
Yeah, it might be something like that. It's so hard. Yeah, what what do you even pull out of that to to do for a movie? Yeah, I don't know. You just have them scream, it's an OD, it's an OD, as they're running back their truck or something like that. Exactly. Yeah.
00:21:51
Speaker
Elden Ring Night Raid will be adding a duos mode very soon. They announced made this announcement on X. Game director Stig Amison and a bunch of other Respawn Entertainment developers founded a new studio, Giant Skull, last year after EA canceled the Star Wars first-person shooter Respawn was working on.
00:22:09
Speaker
And now they've signed an exclusive publishing agreement with Wizards of the Coast to develop a brand new single-player action-adventure game set in the world of D&D. I'm excited for that. i hope it I hope it works out well.
00:22:22
Speaker
Also in EA, they canceled its Black Panther game and closed down Cliffhanger Games. What? EA closing down a game studio? Crazy, I know. Speaking of game shutdowns, ExDefiant has now officially shut down. We've known about this before. It was going to shut down soon.
00:22:41
Speaker
It's officially shut down, and the game's executive producer has left Ubisoft probably to go create his own game studio and make something groundbreaking and incredible like Cough Cough, the developers of exp Expedition 33 did.
00:22:53
Speaker
dead Yeah, Ubisoft taking an L there because X-Defy was pretty good when it launched. like I had a lot of people that praised that game pretty good and then it just they're just like, yeah, it's not staying. And we're like, what the fuck?
00:23:09
Speaker
Like, what the actual fuck? Anyways, prototype for Duke Nukem D-Day, which was supposed to be his first game on the PlayStation 2, has been leaked onto to the Internet Archive, and it features 12 playable levels.
00:23:22
Speaker
So if you want to go see what a prototype for Duke Nukem on the PlayStation 2 was, you can go check that out. ah No Man's Sky released its Beacon Update, which now allows players to manage settlements as space mayors.
00:23:35
Speaker
full Because and I've always wanted to be a space mayor. I haven't played No Man's Sky since like it first came out, and I know they've put so much work into that game, yeah and and people praise it now for devs sticking to their to their game, right? I haven't gone back and played it I will be playing it for the first time in December.
00:23:55
Speaker
Oh, hell yeah. nice or have to ti Every December we do. It used to be called seven days to die. decemberber It was a marathon all month following you play seven days to die. But we've done that for three years now of the time for something different.
00:24:09
Speaker
It's time for something new. So but I guess I right now officially announcing this December. No man's sky. Semper more details to come in the official game. I just scored.
00:24:21
Speaker
Forge Light 3 developer Extra Games is being closed down. This is after the studio was acquired four years ago by Zynga to work on moving to PC and console gaming.
00:24:32
Speaker
I guess it just never panned out. And they're just like, yeah, we don't need you anymore. Which is on bo unfortunate. In some legal news, a trial begins this week at France's Babidi Criminal Court for a trio of former Ubisoft executives, according to the French news service France Info.
00:24:57
Speaker
Former Chief Creative Officer Serge Hascoet former vice president of editorial and creative services, Tommy Francois, with former game director, uh, Guillaume Patrux, Patrux?
00:25:12
Speaker
Pardon me my French. Uh, they face allegations of moral and sexual harassment following rewards of systematic workplace abuse or systemic workplace abuse at Ubisoft that emerged in 2020. Yeah, not great.
00:25:26
Speaker
yeah not great but not Apple is willing to unveil a dedicated gaming app that will serve as a launcher for titles and centralized in-game achievements, leaderboards, communications, and other activity.
00:25:38
Speaker
Because let's be real, Apple Arcade is... they they got a lot of title They've got a lot of titles on there. it just I don't see a lot of people actually picking it up and playing, you know? Yeah, we're seeing titles leave Apple Arcade and be like, oh, hey, we should just release this on everything else. Like Fantasia, Neo Dimension was an Apple Arcade exclusive.
00:25:58
Speaker
Hello Kitty Island Adventure was on Apple Arcade for a year before it came for everything else. As an exclusive platform, I don't think it works. I think it makes sense for like, I don't know, they got Bellatro on there. They got Slay the Spire on there. They got, you know, a bunch of, I think, well, yeah, it feels like a bunch of indies on there that like, I think it makes sense for, but for exclusives, I just don't see it.
00:26:22
Speaker
Yeah, I feel the same way. ah casual casual yeah Casual audience just doesn't want to pay for subscription for that kind of stuff. I don't want to pay $2,000 to our MacBook to play these exclusive games. Surgeon Studios, the developers of Tales of Kinzara Zhao, revealed their new game, Dead Take.
00:26:41
Speaker
It's a first-person psychological horror game releasing sometime later this year. It's being published by Pocket Pair, though. yeah publishers of Palworld and the other game that rips off Legend of Zelda.
00:26:56
Speaker
sir So yeah, that's ah I don't know how I feel about that. Not gonna lie. I'm just not a fan of Pocket Pair. I also think of Palworld. It was the worst game that came out last year.
00:27:07
Speaker
Really? yeah that's Yeah. Strongly, huh? ah You see, it's not because of the whole, oh, yeah you like poked it's it's a bland survival crafting game. fair yeah it's bland and they're like oh let's try to unblend it by letting you capture all these creatures it just doesn't help but where the core mechanic is just bland not good yeah that's fair um In some studio up and running news, Tango Gameworks has reopened its Tokyo office after it was shut down and reacquired.
00:27:39
Speaker
They've launched a brand new website, unveiled their brand new company logo, and they're working on a brand new action game, which is super exciting to see. Can't wait to see what Tango works on next. And I hope that sometime in the future, they make a hi-fi rush too.
00:27:52
Speaker
That would be cool to see. In Nintendo news, Splatoon Raiders was announced on everything ah as the first spinoff game for the Splatoon franchise.
00:28:04
Speaker
And it will be an exclusive to the Switch too. And lastly with Nintendo, ah it's been revealed that Princess Peach's longtime voice actor, Samantha Kelly, was replaced But they didn't make it known to her until the day the Switch 2 and Mario Kart World dropped.
00:28:20
Speaker
That's rough. yeah i ah Yeah. I don't even know what to say on that. That sucks. What a way to break the news, right? Yeah, well, it's not it's not great, but I mean, we kind of figured that like it was a new voice for like the entire Mario cast. Yeah, yeah, it was bound to happen. Yeah, you know, and like I just thought you know they had already like told her and like this was already handled.
00:28:44
Speaker
yeah Yeah, no, that the the fact that she didn't find out until then, then yeah, y that's that's where the yikes is.
00:28:54
Speaker
Especially since, like, it seems like, you know, with with Charles Martinet, everything was handled well, where he left like on happy terms and is still doing stuff, whatever. even announced it during a Nintendo Direct that like, yeah, he's hiring... He was given the the reverence he deserves in that, right? Yeah. So, like, why not do that with, like, yeah some of the other VAs of, like, hey, you know, like...
00:29:18
Speaker
you know like at least like have like ah ah like a formal announcement right just something yeah yeah because like obviously like yeah all your cats like wario mother we i mean that was charles martin a2 i think right right yeah but like it's all the other vas that you use for that like why not at least do the same courtesy for that but uh-huh what are you gonna do that's nintendo yep uh As for your ongoing game news, only one thing with Final Fantasy XIV. 00:31:20
Speaker
um It's basically a reworked mystic. If you remember the mystic um from the earlier days in 5e. um So, yeah. New new ah psychic boy ah coming back.
00:31:36
Speaker
I think they also added in another class on D&D Beyond. they They brought over the Gunslinger class, which I think someone else had made previously, but I think they officially added in and like updated it to 2024 rule set. Oh, that's that's cool.
00:31:52
Speaker
I'll have to check that out too. And that's everything from the past two weeks that wasn't Summer Game Fest related. Any final thoughts on any of those, Evan? Um, I'm excited. You know, I think it's a, it's a good time for a bunch of new stuff. I i really am interested to see how Splatoon Raiders pulls out.
00:32:08
Speaker
Um, you know, I, my, my biggest thoughts lately have been with Nintendo. So I'm, I'm interested to see, um, cause I think it said, Well, I can't remember when they said that was coming out, but I know there's another update. don't think they gave a release date for it. Right. Yeah, they said there was that update coming to Splatoon 3. Yes, there is an update for Splatoon 3. That's like this month, right?
00:32:29
Speaker
Yes, and it's for the Switch 2. Yeah. Yeah. So, well, and then there's a content drop. I think that's for both, but then there's an update as well for Switch 2 for performance that sort of stuff, whatever. Cool.
00:32:40
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. No, from the looks of what we've seen, it looks like it might be a hybrid of like survival. Yeah. It's really interesting. i mean, i I always thought that like that the single player aspect of Splatoon was done very well.
00:32:55
Speaker
Yeah. So I'm interested to see how that works in its own standalone kind of situation. yeah Yeah, it'll be interesting to see. um Maybe this might be the game that gets me into Splatoon as well, because I i never got into Splatoon.
00:33:07
Speaker
Yeah, it's that's totally fair. Yeah, I think it's a fun game franchise. I just think that like, I think the multiplayer is best either couch co-op or like, you know, online with friends, but like playing solo, it's kind of rough.
00:33:22
Speaker
No, definitely. ah Okay. Well, with that, it's time for us to dive into the games that are coming out in the next two weeks. Here's what should be on your radar from June 16th to 27th.
00:33:34
Speaker
From AAA titles, indie hits, hidden gems, and hot pieces of garbage, here are the games coming out that should be on your radar. And kicking it off, here we go. Rapid fire, folks.
00:33:46
Speaker

00:34:22
Speaker

00:34:38

00:34:56
Speaker
Persona 5, The Phantom X comes out on Steam and Mobile. Ruffy and the Riverside comes to the PS5 Series X Switch and PC and System Shock 2 the 25th anniversary edition comes out on everything but the Switch 2 and on the 27th and it's good I hate to say this but more trailers have come out where it's pronounced like this Tamagotchi Plaza they call it Tamagotchi?
00:35:23
Speaker
Tamagotchi since when? The official release trailer that was put out by Tamagotchi said Tamagotchi. I don't like that. i don't like that either.
00:35:35
Speaker
but it's We have to face the truth. Yep, okay. The western commercials lied to us. Those western commercials lied to us. Tamagotchi. It sounds so wrong.
00:35:49
Speaker
It does, but... Okay, but we have to do it. We have to do it, yep. We have to. we We have to. like you can like I understand like there's still the debate between Arceus and Arceus still, even though in all the trailer you with the trailers, they do say Legends Arceus.
00:36:05
Speaker
the Right, they do. I switched to saying Arceus because I'm like, look, the trailers are semi-official, but there's they're so where there still is media where they call it Arceus still. and so it's still like It's inconsistent. It's so inconsistent that you can go either way with it and it's fine.
00:36:22
Speaker
Yeah. But this one is like, oh, oh, oh. that's how We have to just accept it. Yeah. ah But yeah, so that's everything coming out in the next two weeks. Your big ones, starting off at the top, the Gex trilogy.
00:36:40
Speaker
yeah Gex, it stands for Golly. everything's X. I don't know. I I don't know where I was going to go with that. ah I love it. Hey, if you did order the limited run games, special edition, I came with a three foot Gex inflatable.
00:37:01
Speaker
Good for you. That's pretty cool. That's pretty sweet. What can I say? Yeah. Shame it has to be done through limited run games because they've got like, that it's not a great rep that they have for some things, but it's like, you know, at least it's like kind of cool to look at the stuff that they've done. for me Like, yeah. ah Date Everything, that's a big one that people are excited for. You can play, like, the demo out now. Or if you pre-purchase it, you can play it early, I think. That's what the case has been. And it's got, like, every voice actor on the planet in the game.
00:37:33
Speaker
ah Like, from Ben Star to Dante Bosco, Matt Mercer, I think Troy Baker is probably somewhere in there. That's crazy. Laura Bailey. I think the entire Critical Rolecast are in there somewhere.
00:37:47
Speaker
Like there's just so many voice actors. It's such a cool project. Definitely go check that you're into dating sims, I just want to see what your D20 would look like if it was hot. Uh, FEC fire rank. We've already talked about lost in randoms getting a sequel.
00:38:01
Speaker
This is a sequel lost in random. So if you remember a lost in random, even, I don't think so off top. Yeah, not a lot of people do. It kind of like it was like announced and then it kind of just faded into obscurity.
00:38:16
Speaker
I think it was from... I want to say it's an EA published project. If my memory serves. But yeah. Rido Remastered. a lot of people are excited about this one. It's a remaster of a very old S&T game.
00:38:33
Speaker
ah Seeing the new light of day. ah rematch is another big one. I'm looking forward to rematch. I'm probably going to pick up rematch when that drops. yeah It drops on my birthday, actually.
00:38:47
Speaker
Hey, that's cool. So you know what? I will probably pick up rematch. And happy early birthday to you, then. Hey, thank you. I still need a place i still need to play So I should probably do that too because it's from the same devs.
00:39:01
Speaker
Right. Yep. What else are the big ones? Death Stranding 2, arguably the biggest game coming out within this two-week span. I don't know how I feel about this one.
00:39:13
Speaker
Like, yeah, it's Kijin. Like, I don't know how I feel about this because I still don't know how I feel about the first first Death Stranding still. Yeah, that's fair.
00:39:24
Speaker
um i they're They're such experimental games, right? I feel like its they're made so that it's difficult to come to a conclusion on them, right? Yeah, I guess that's just Hideo Kojima in a nutshell, though.
00:39:35
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. For some of vi the Phantom X, I'm excited for, but not like super excited for, because it again, it is a god shit game at the end of the day. But I'm going to play it and I'm going to try my best to do it free to play because according to what I've seen, you don't need to spend any money to... i mean like that is the thing That's what they always say, That's what they always say.
00:39:58
Speaker
Yeah, um so we'll see, but I'm going do my best to make like a free-to-play account on that and whatnot. And then, of course, Tamagotchi Plaza.
00:40:11
Speaker
like I think they said there's like 12 to 15 minigames to play where you play as your Tamagotchi. That's really all it is. That's pretty much it. Yeah, that's pretty much it.
00:40:22
Speaker
um Yeah, those are the games coming out. Let us know what you're looking forward to because there's a lot. It's only going to get more and more as the months go on. Well, with that, it's time for first us to get into the meat and potatoes. we got We got a small topic and we got a big topic, and you're not going to believe what the small topic is. Conversations of past and future games, the state of the gaming industry, how big decisions affect gamers, and anything else that's important to us. Here's what's going down this week in the Game Lounge.
00:40:51
Speaker
And our first topic of the day is the Nintendo Switch launch. It's out, it's happened, and it's our small topic. Which is crazy that it's the small topic, but it has to right? Which is crazy! But you know what? I would have... It kind of, in a sense, kicks off Summer Game Fest 2. Right.
00:41:09
Speaker
right Because, like, the following day was when Summer Game Fest happened. It's like, oh, Switch 2 is out and Summer Game Fest. like back-to-back crazy stuff, but the Switch 2 is out officially now.
00:41:22
Speaker
I have mine. Yours is on the way. mine Mine is going to be here maybe even while we're recording this. It'll show up. Wow. Which is great. Which is, you know, I mean, um it's a what it's been one week since it got launched. So I've only had to wait week.
00:41:39
Speaker
One week since Switching launched. Yeah. yeah but You Barry Dinkin' Ladies, they drop a song right now. they Actually, perfect. Release the sequel to One Week, call it Two Weeks.
00:41:50
Speaker
what did you ah Where'd you order your Switch 2 from? So I ordered my Switch 2. So ah ah flashback music. Doodaloo, doodaloo, doodaloo. I ordered my Switch 2 not on the day that the midnight release for the pre-orders happened because I knew that that was going to be hectic as hell. So I looked at like, okay, let's see. Well, there's Walmart.
00:42:14
Speaker
I'm not going to pre-order it from Walmart. There's Best Buy. I'm not going to pre-order it. I'm like, I could pre-order it from Best Buy, but I don't want to if I don't have to. The Nintendo official...
00:42:27
Speaker
pre-orders haven't sent out an email saying, hey, if you can email it through us. You can pre-order it through us yet. And actually, those have only just been sent out, apparently, for like... So so that's where I'm getting mine from. Oh, actually. and from Yeah, so I got... I want to say a week before the Switch 2 launch happened, I got an email that was like, don't worry, you're still in line.
00:42:51
Speaker
well We'll get you soon. And then ah I want to say... probably like five days ago, i got the email saying you're ready to pre-order or ra rather you're ready to order now. You're ready to order. Like, yeah, it's like at this point, it's not even a pre-order. It's just like, it pre if you still want to order with us, here you go.
00:43:12
Speaker
It might've even been on launch day actually. So a week ago, ah but you know, I don't know. I wasn't in a rush to get it day one or whatever. So I was like, you know, it'll, it'll be a good experiment to see how Nintendo's direct supply chain works.
00:43:27
Speaker
Yeah, no, definitely. Yeah, um I got it through GameStop because on the day of the next day, like after, like obviously, well, midnight launch, just 10 a.m.
00:43:38
Speaker
is when they said, hey, that's where we're going to open up our pre-orders. So I'm like, you know what? well I'll do that. I'll wake up. like an hour before pre-orders go live and I can, you know, wait in line then.
00:43:51
Speaker
I wake up like 10 minutes before pre-orders go live, log on to my computer, log into my GameStop account. And right as I log in, they're like, okay, you're in line. I'm like, oh, sweet.
00:44:03
Speaker
um And then about 20 minutes after the pre-orders officially started, I get in, I try to order the bundle, the bundle sold out. I just get a base switch too.
00:44:13
Speaker
And we're done. Fair enough. Yep. And then day June 5th comes. He's like, all right, he'll be here sometime today. And seven and it it arrives at 7 p.m.
00:44:26
Speaker
Okay. Yep. But you know what? It got here. It's all set up. It is. It is like the the size of it it is. it is like you can. It's such a difference with the size of the thing. Like it is like, wow, it's it's nice.
00:44:43
Speaker
yeah uh it's good you can definitely tell that it runs stuff much better than the first switch i'm sure yeah i like i've played i because uh i have my nso uh expansion pass uh i upgraded my breath of the wild copy to switch 2 edition and it's like night and day perfect love to hear it yeah like seeing it run at like a native 60 is nuts.
00:45:12
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. I can't wait. It's so it's nuts. Did you now, of course, on June 5th, though, if you didn't, if you decided to not have it delivered to you, you could go to midnight releases slash camp out in front and wait for the store to open to get your switch to. Do you know anybody who did that?
00:45:31
Speaker
um Because I don't, sadly. I don't think I know anybody who did that directly. i There's a few YouTubers who live in the same state as me that I saw. They had gone out to like mid midnight releases at locations, I guess, i in theory, I could have gone to.
00:45:50
Speaker
ah there was some crazy stuff out there. ah and Seemed crazy busy. I don't know. like i don't know if you I'm sure you've seen videos like ive yeah just lines across like park like whole parking lots filled up kind of thing.
00:46:01
Speaker
Yeah, I haven't seen stuff like this since I think the Switch 1. Because I think that's the last thing we like, because I didn't really see a lot of people like camping out for a PlayStation 5 or a Series X. Console launches just aren't, it's not the same. i think I think, well, I don't know. And this is just another take that I've had recently. But I i think that just having cross-platform games being the norm just kind of kills ah console launch competition.
00:46:27
Speaker
Yeah, because like when you have exclusive titles and stuff like that, people are going to want to show up for the console. Right. But if you don't, then it's like, that's whatever. It doesn't really matter. I'll get them at some point.
00:46:39
Speaker
Yeah, no, that's actually very true. i do not disagree with you there, because when you look at like if you were look at a list of like five games that aren't directly published by Sony or Microsoft, they can probably be played on both systems.
00:46:57
Speaker
And PC. And PC too, yeah. yeah so so Yeah, so it's da yes so it's definitely... Nintendo knows how to do this, how to do a console, or their games at least.
00:47:10
Speaker
So what version of the Switch 2 did you get? I just got the base model. Base model. and And the reasoning for that is because my brother's going to get the bundle with Mario Kart and then we can just do the game share and then I don't have to buy it.
00:47:26
Speaker
That's fair. That's fair. Nice. ah Are you going to get any other games? Slash you to upgrade any games when you get your Switch too? Yeah, i'm I have NSO as well, so I'll be able to get the Zelda upgrades and stuff like that.
00:47:42
Speaker
ah I'm most looking forward to ah Bonanza when it comes out. Yes, we are about a month away. Yeah, I've been slowly chipping through all the Donkey Kong games, ah and so I've got to the point now where I'm ready to play the new one, which is exciting. Nice.
00:47:58
Speaker
Yeah, no, it looks it looks really good. I'm very excited for Bonanza to see what it does. ah And it makes me wonder like what the next Mario game will be as well, because with how this Donkey Kong game is looking, because it is the same team that did Odyssey, believe. I was like, okay, so they're cooking with this. What are they cooking for the next Mario, man?
00:48:20
Speaker
Well, and it's it's interesting, too, because we still don't have a November or December release, I don't think, from Nintendo lined up. True. I'm not mistaken. I mean, but to be fair, i the the November release, realistically, might be Metroid Prime 4.
00:48:35
Speaker
Oh, I guess that's true. yeah yeah Because it still technically doesn't have a release date yet. Yeah, you're right. So that could be the the the hot the holiday release.
00:48:46
Speaker
Yeah, and it's still slated for 2025, so I could see that happening. Well, you know what I could see them doing is having Prime 4 be like the November and then having another like big drop in January.
00:49:00
Speaker
Yeah, I can definitely see that too. think that would make sense. I also think that around the time Prime 4 releases... they either they're either they're going to do one of two things or they might do both.
00:49:12
Speaker
They might do they might a put both prime and prime to onto the GameCube NSO and a so her add or they'll take the trilogy because there is that the trilogy has been released as a trilogy. Right. Right. They get an HD HD HD trilogy. Right. And put it out like that.
00:49:31
Speaker
Because you have the first one, h eight the first H Prime in HD, so why not just do the whole trilogy of HD so you can play all four on the Switch? And it includes Federation Force. but and hunter And Hunters, too, if you want to put Metroid Prime Hunters on there, too. Because I feel like Hunters is an important game to play with Metroid Prime 4, considering the villain seems to be Psylocke, who debuted in Hunters.
00:49:57
Speaker
Yeah, I believe that's correct. So i feel like I feel like actually, if anything, Hunter should get the HD version of the game released on the Switch, too. who Just saying.
00:50:09
Speaker
Really quick, Tony. I think my package got here. you mind if I go bring it inside so it doesn't sit here? Yeah, you go go grab it. I'll be right back.
00:50:19
Speaker
You're getting ready for another night of adventuring with your friends and you realize, wow, I haven't leveled up and it's been two whole sessions. Well, I have the solution for you. Just ask your game master again.
00:50:32
Speaker
Your GM will understand that after a straight RP session and one encounter with a bunch of CR1 goblins, your level eight character needs to be crowned about. Forget about experience point counting or preset milestones the GM had already established.
00:50:47
Speaker
Asking your GM again is the tried and true solution but does not come across as annoying at all. So did you level up? Just ask your GM again.
00:50:59
Speaker
All right, I'm back. Hey, was it the Switch? Is it here? I do indeed now have the box for the Switch 2. Hey, yo, okay, we are making history here on the podcast, folks. Right as we were talking about the Switch 2, Evan's Switch 2 has officially arrived. That's crazy work, yeah.
00:51:19
Speaker
That is crazy. You know what? You talk, you rewilled it into the universe to arrive, and it's arrived. Thank you, Tony. That was all you. Yeah. We work miracles here in Tony's Game Lounge.
00:51:31
Speaker
Absolutely. yeah ah congratulation First, congratulations you on i getting it on having it arrived safely. Thank Unlike some of the people who had their receipts stapled to the box in New York City.
00:51:45
Speaker
um yeah that is like because what like i will say this. They packaged it Not how I was expecting it to be packaged. Like, obviously, the box looks nice and sleek. But the second you open it up, the screen is right there.
00:51:58
Speaker
And I was not expecting the screen to be right. that You would think, like, you know, they would, like, try to, like, put the screen, like, under something else for, you know, the most protection for it. But no, no, it's just right at the top right there. in do Wow.
00:52:12
Speaker
Not the greatest placement for that of, like, the entire packaging system for the Switch 2. Yeah, well, and and, you know, I think it was it was just like one store that was stapling the receipts, right, from what I saw.
00:52:24
Speaker
and And then, of course, media outlets were making it seem like it was happening at way more locations. but it was It was just one GameStop, I think. Yeah, I mean, that that still obviously sucks for those those people, but I'm sure they've figured it out and gotten...
00:52:39
Speaker
refunded or or switched back out again but yeah that especially for like day one like here you go here's your console you get home and it has a staple through it that's very frustrating that's yeah that's ah yeah ah bit uh it's a bit nostalgic to old game stop a little bit yeah ah No, a big thing about the Switch 2 that people are still kind of up in arms about are the prices for everything. yeah of course.
00:53:05
Speaker
But you know what? I think that's going to happen with every new game release or new game console or new thing because it's kind of just the way the world's kind of gone. Well, if you know, you see that with every game console launch. I feel like in general, the the price is always like, what? I can't believe it. And then people just accept that that's what it is. You know what mean? Yeah. And i guess what? 3.5 million people accepted what it is as that Nintendo did release after the first four days of sales.
00:53:34
Speaker
3.5 million Switch 2 units have been sold. Which is especially funny considering all the discourse or online before the launch where everyone was like, oh, we need to you know vote with our our wallets and don't buy it yet. And a huge launch. and so Huge launch. And it goes to show that no matter what you see on the internet, is the the vocal minority is the loudest.
00:54:03
Speaker
Absolutely. Yeah. And it's gone to show it once again. um Now, granted, I will say the price for Mario Kart World is definitely the most drastic compared to like everything else. Like, because again, hardware is whatever.
00:54:20
Speaker
um Accessories. Yeah, it's Nintendo. They always they've always upcharge their accessories. That's nothing new. Yeah, I think price for world, and I don't know if you feel the same way about this, but I feel like they understand this is a game they're going to have to support for the next 10 years, you know, in the same way that they did for 8 Deluxe.
00:54:39
Speaker
And so I think it's priced to... hopefully minimize like charges for DLC and stuff like that down the line. Yes. Like, absolutely. Like if this game comes with like two, one to two free updates every year over the next five to 10 years, I think we're going to get them. Then yes, we get our money's worth for that. Yeah. as I think it's just all you've done is you've paid 10 bucks per year of this game's content.
00:55:04
Speaker
Right. And i think that I think that because we don't have word from Nintendo yet that that is going to be the case, people are more frustrated. But that just seems very Nintendo to like not say anything about it. And then like in six months, they'll be like, hey, we got a bunch of new content coming. you know Yeah. know is absolutely We absolutely will be probably will be seeing new content. I've unlocked all the costumes right now.
00:55:26
Speaker
Nice. And Donkey Kong only has one costume. Yeah, which which clearly is like, okay, well, we have Bonanza coming out next month. What do you think is going to happen? I think we're going to get some Donkey Kong costumes and Diddy Kong.
00:55:38
Speaker
That's my prediction. Now, granted, we probably have two reasons why Diddy Kong isn't in the game right now. The first is because it's Donkey Kong Bonanza.
00:55:49
Speaker
They probably want to do a little tie in there. And the second is maybe P. Diddy. Yeah, i i don't I don't think that's the case. If that was the case, they wouldn't have like be updating all the you know all the stuff on on the website or have stuff in the parks, in the theme parks and stuff like that. which like like It's a good thing it we only had a Diddy Kong Racing spinoff game and not a Diddy Kong Party game.
00:56:15
Speaker
I don't know how it would be Nintendo had city parties here. That would be funny. That would have been a time, yeah. that would have been a time yeah ah It would have been, let know um but I will say, though, last thing regarding game prices, Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour is not worth the $10, $15, or however much it costs.
00:56:39
Speaker
I got it. I've played through it. I'm going to play it on my off time because you know the tech demo stuff for it is cool if you're really into that, but it's not worth that kind of money.
00:56:50
Speaker
Well, and I understand the frustration from people about it, but it doesn't seem like it's supposed to be a game, which is fine. yeah But they shouldn't have led the direct with that because it makes people go, that's something I should have because it's the first thing I'm seeing.
00:57:07
Speaker
And it's it's literally just like a nerdy tech spec. Yeah. Vomit fest, which is fine. And I think it's fine for it to be $10 even. I just don't think they should have marketed it as the first thing they show off for the console as like the packing you're supposed to buy.
00:57:24
Speaker
you know what I mean? You know what? yeah no i Yeah, you're absolutely right about that. And also, fun fact about that that tech demo, if you want to 100% You need three accessories.
00:57:36
Speaker
Now, granted, that's fine because obviously the new Switch 2 Pro Controller does come with the new paddle, the new grip buttons, um which is a key thing of that. So that's required.
00:57:49
Speaker
The Nintendo Switch 2 camera is required and 4K television. you You have to have a 4K screen. You need a 4K screen to 100% the game because there are there is a demo slash minigame that requires the 4K.
00:58:08
Speaker
ah And it's kind of, it's funny. It's absolutely hilarious. that It's a very Nintendo thing, yeah. It's a very Nintendo thing, but you can just watch it on YouTube because all it is is like, hey, we put the entire 1-1 from Classic Mario on this 4K monitor, so it's zoomed out entirely, but you can play the the whole level without it ah sliding left to right.
00:58:32
Speaker
It's just all there. That's that's crazy. That's yeah. Good old 4k monitor required. So, uh, Hey, if, if this is a game, you want a 100% and you don't have a TV, don't buy a 4k TV forehead.
00:58:48
Speaker
love um, how does this systems launch titles compared to launch titles of launch their console launches of the past?
00:58:59
Speaker
Because I got to, you know, my opinion, it's a little, it's a little lacking considering that there's only two games that are like brand spanking new and not like a remaster or a switch yeah port of something.
00:59:12
Speaker
Yeah, I think especially knowing how many other ports they probably have ready to go, it's a little odd, right? But i think I think the way I see it is if you get a Nintendo console, you are going to get Mario Kart, period, right? yeah And so they they like it's the perfect first game because they know, like at least financially for them, they know everyone's going to end up having it.
00:59:39
Speaker
Right. Yes. Where even if you put out like as much as I would have liked to see like a Zelda game or something like that, I don't think you get as many people installing Zelda as you do Mario Kart. So while that does make me feel like, you know, I would prefer to have a a more deep game like that.
01:00:00
Speaker
I think it's having a wide game as as like at least for our first month makes sense. But it is weird that there's only one, like basically one title, right? Yeah. yeah no it really It really is.
01:00:13
Speaker
um But but we we will be seeing more as the months go on, thankfully. um And that'll be exciting. I do have one gripe I do want to bring up about Mario Kart World. And it's with the open world's function the open world aspect or the free roam.
01:00:28
Speaker
The free driving thing. I wish... And Nintendo, please just make a small update just to do this so that way I can enjoy FreeWorld a little more. Please just add like a collectible list or like an itemized list so I can see what P-switches, what Peach Coins, what question block things I've hit.
01:00:49
Speaker
That's so weird that they don't because I feel like they have that in like any other collectible game, right? Yep, they do. They have it in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom where you're able to view, oh yeah, yeah you've collected this Korok scene and here's a little small thing. If you really zoom in on the map, you can see it.
01:01:05
Speaker
Right. um And they don't have it for Mario Kart World. And I'm a little disappointed in that because like if they had that, I would be all over that free roam mode because of my ADHD autism brain. what what Well, when you see list that's, you know, 70 something percent complete, you have to finish it. so Yeah.
01:01:25
Speaker
yeah But no, it instead it's just you're driving around aimlessly hoping you found something you haven't found yet. And it's like, I don't want to be checking the same areas over and over again, hoping that miss some, like, obviously, like, I could do a whole thing around the world blind, see my list, open up a guide online to see what I'm missing and go to that and enjoy it.
01:01:45
Speaker
And this is my one gripe with the game. Everything else about the game is great. Knockout Tour is definitely the new go-to mode within this game. ah The Grand Prix's are great. ah I you do they like that they each ah Grand Prix does have a character locked behind it. Oh, that's cool. Yeah.
01:02:04
Speaker
The Kamek orb on unlocking all the NPC characters is neat. i I'm missing three, and I've been grinding for a while to get them, and it's just really hard to get the Kamek orb because it's such a rare item.
01:02:19
Speaker
um But I need the Pianta. I need the the the fish, the skeleton fish, and I need the other mole. Not Monty. There's another one.
01:02:29
Speaker
There's another mole. The one that ah pops up from the grates and throws wrenches at you. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. but that's I need that one. Fair. Yeah. so But i missed it that's a little legit all I'm missing. I got my last vehicle yesterday.
01:02:44
Speaker
you know, the game is great. It's online really fun. Not a lot of issues online either, I think, finding. Hey, that's ah that's a good sign. like I experienced lag whatsoever. That's a really good sign. I don't know if that's just a sign of really good internet. Everybody everybody finally having good internet somehow, or if it's also just like the hardware being able to keep up now with it too.
01:03:05
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. So it's good, honestly. ah the console, you know what? If you want it now, get it now. If you want to wait for more games to come out, you can wait.
01:03:18
Speaker
you don't want to get it, don't get it. like it's At the end of the day, it's your decision. I don't think we're seeing a price drop on it anytime soon either. I know people are saying that we might, I mean, we're probably going to get more bundle stuff. yeah So we might see like a Bonanza bundle, but the console itself, I don't think so.
01:03:36
Speaker
Yeah. Realistically, I think we see a Bonanza bundle and I think we see a Pokemon bundle. Yeah. That has happen. ye Yeah. Yeah. I think those are the next bundles we see. We might see a Metroid bundle, but I don't know for sure.
01:03:50
Speaker
because Metroid slightly more niche on the scale of those three things. I could see them doing like special Joy-Cons for that, but maybe not a bundle. you know No, definitely. um are there What games looking forward to ah that are going to be coming out either later this year or next year that we know of slash don't know of yet?
01:04:10
Speaker
Yeah. um Well, I don't know if we, as far as, as far as stuff that's coming out, I think it's mainly like indies that I'm looking forward to. So Hades two, um I'm looking forward to the Katana zero DLC. Whenever that happens, I'm trying to think off top my head, Slay the Spire two is coming out as well. I'm excited for that, but these aren't Nintendo exclusive stuff. And you know, yeah as far as stuff specifically on the switch, and like I said, you know, everyone's hyped for Bonanza. I'm excited for that.
01:04:40
Speaker
um Yeah, we'll see. I still have to play through the the other the other Prime games, so I am really hoping that Prime Trilogy ends up happening um because I would feel kind of sad if I didn't get the opportunity to ah play through all of those first I'm looking forward to Tamagotchi Life 2 that comes out next year.
01:04:58
Speaker
Oh, yeah, that's true. I forgot that that was happening. And that's coming out. is that That's still coming out on the original Switch as well, right? yeah yeah yeah Yeah, it is. Yeah. I think that might be like their last big push for for original Switch, but we'll see. Next year is, realistically, next year is probably when we'll see the last of the games that are coming to Switch 1 and 2. Yeah.
01:05:20
Speaker
from like From Nintendo. From Nintendo directly. Yeah, people will still be supporting Switch for at least, i would think, a couple more years just because of the install base, right? Yeah, absolutely. can't wait to play another hentai girls game that's on both Switch 2. I mean, I'm hoping that we don't end up with that being the entirety of the Nintendo online store. Another thing I did immediately was I checked the eShop. eShop is much slicker. It opens up immediately now, too, which was so nice. I saw people going through that, and it doesn't take a minute to change tabs in there and everything now.
01:05:54
Speaker
that which is very nice, but it's like, oh boy, I wonder what all the games... Oh, it's still just the same Switch. Oh, great. yeah Everything's still there. It's still... I wish that Nintendo had done like one big purge for the Switch 2 specifically. You would think, especially for the launch, that, I mean, seriously, all they really need to do is there's a few key phrases and words that they could just filter out and everything would be fine.
01:06:22
Speaker
Yeah, but nope. all Nope. All that shovelware is still there. I expect to see that on like Steam, you know, but for Nintendo, it's it's it's rough to see on Nintendo on the eShop.
01:06:36
Speaker
but Who knows? Maybe one day they'll they'll they'll figure it out. Yeah. But yeah, I think that's a good place to call the Switch 2 talk because we got a lot to go over still Summer Game Fest 2025.
01:06:50
Speaker
it twenty a five Yep, it happens. So many live streams. Summer Game Fest, the Xbox show, Cozy Games Direct, Future Game Show, PC Game Show, the Konami Press Start event, games led by women, the Southeast Asia game dev thing, and so, so much more.
01:07:14
Speaker

01:07:28
Speaker

01:07:40
Speaker
Then they're like, hey, this is happening tomorrow, as in on the 7th. ah The Fortnite Death Star Sabotage Grand Event. where I think that was just that day, right? Yeah, it was just that day. It was like the big season ender, I think, sort of. I don't really know. I don't play Fortnite. but Yeah, i my chat just got me back into Fortnite, so I've been playing a lot. Oh, nice. I know it was like it was like sort of like episode six where it's like everybody against the Death Star, kind of. Yeah, I don't know. The window to get in there was really tight, and I didn't even bother and playing the event. so im yeah The new season started up, so I've been playing that, but i yeah, I have no idea how that event went.
01:08:20
Speaker
Death Stranding 2 had an exclusive clip shown off. Chronicles Medieval was shown. It's coming early 2026 and it's going to be narrated by Tom Hardy, which is kind of wild.
01:08:33
Speaker
um Then we got our trailer for Sonic Racing Cross Worlds where they showed off the rest of Team Babylon is joining the game from the Rider series. So not just Jet, we also have Storm and Wave, which is really nice to see them back in a Sonic game.
01:08:49
Speaker
ah And then they're like, also Hatsune Miku, Ichiban Tostada, and Joker. And then the developer came out, and he's like, and then look at this.

01:09:21
Speaker

01:10:19
Speaker
Sort of have like scenarios like what if like your own alternate timeline. Yeah. Yeah. Like what if Jon Snow lost to the Lightwalkers or stuff like that? Atomic Heart 2 was announced. No release date yet. And then the cube um was just set in the atomic universe. It's an MMORPG shooter within the atomic heart game. And you're just on a giant fucking cube in the sky, which I'm like, oh, that's kind of funny.
01:10:45
Speaker

01:11:16
Speaker
It's, it's going to be nuts. And I'm looking forward to see what this game really gives us. Yeah. Graphically. it It looks really interesting. I don't know. I think the characters look pretty cool. Yeah. Killer Inn, this is a murder mystery action deception game that has 24 players.

01:18:03
Speaker
The Splitgate 2 hat lead came out. He's like, I miss when shooters used to be good. and in the He's also wearing a Make Shooters Great Again hat.
01:18:16
Speaker
Yeah, that was rough. That was rough to begin with. It was a bad look. Yeah. um He's like, I i witness miss when things were great like Halo.
01:18:27
Speaker
I'm tired of like these yearly Call of Duty games but just like rehashing stuff. I wanted Titanfall 3. I'm like, you know what? Despite his hat, he's saying some alright things. was like, you know what? He's not absolutely wrong.
01:18:43
Speaker
But he pulled he did it where it's like, and then they showed up, and then he's like, how do you end that by announcing that Splitgate 2 is getting a Battle Royale mode? 01:20:11
Speaker
Any final thoughts on that one? Um, no, I mean, again, I think I just felt a lot of stuff not showing gameplay, you know? So, uh, don't know. I think, I think the most surprising things there, I agree with you. The split gate two thing was I did not appreciate the way that was presented and it sucks because like, I want to be excited for that game, but I just fell really short in my opinion.

01:33:29
Speaker
And that's everything that I thought was cool slash one of the major live streams of Summer Game Fest. What are your thoughts on that stuff, Evan? You know, ah i only have one game that I wanted to shout that I saw. I think it was during the ah the Southeast Asian Game Showcase.
01:33:44
Speaker
Go for it. There's a game ah called Tanuki Pond Summer where you play as this little Tanuki character ah and you basically go on little deliveries where you're you're like a ah delivering mail.
01:33:58
Speaker
I know that game because I showed it off. I can't remember when. I didn't know that it was at that one. Oh, because that game was sick. So because you're you you' it's basically like BMX tricking all over this like little cute neighborhood. i don't know. It looks super cute. And I'm a big sucker for like just deliver stuff back and forth like fetch quest.
01:34:16
Speaker
And if I can fetch quest on a BMX bike, that's pretty epic. Yeah. So overall, Summer Game Fest this year, so much shown off. So yeah it was it was a lot of content back to back and just like, i don't know, there were so many showcases to keep keep up with i mean hundreds of games, right?
01:34:36
Speaker
ah Across like four days to for like the majority of it. Plus, we had the Switch to launch at the same time. Like it's it's a busy week for gaming. is z week One of the busiest weeks for gaming is Summer Game Fest. I can never remember where, but Jeff Keighley will have another game show for us then to reveal even more stuff.
01:35:05
Speaker
And then we won't see him again until the Game Awards, where most likely we will see Expedition 33 suite. Yeah. We have to assume that that's going to be the case. I don't think, I mean, it'll take a lot to, yeah, yeah that I think everyone will be understanding if that's the way things go.
01:35:23
Speaker
yeah I won't be mad. It's a banger game. Would recommend. um Is there any final thoughts you want to give on Summer Game Fest before you move on to the bonus level, Evan? No, I'm ready to go.
01:35:33
Speaker
All right. Well, now it's time for us to close things out in a nice, fun way. We're diving into the bonus level. Crazy lists, great deals, and recapping gaming history. It's all here in the bonus level. And to kick it off, we got our new segment of this season, the Game Clash, a small eight-entry tournament.
01:35:53
Speaker
randomly seated with different topics. that i figured why not go the switch to just launched. So why not put them all of the Nintendo physical consoles head to head? It's the Nintendo console game clash.
01:36:08
Speaker
And Evan, you're the one who decides the winner. Are you ready? I'm ready. All right. For match one, we got the n NES versus the switch. It's it's a switch on that one as you know,
01:36:18
Speaker
You can play all the and NES stuff on it. What do you want me to say? Importantly. Yeah. ah no No, you can take you get continue your thoughts. Well, I was just going to say, yeah you know, nostalgia nostalgia for it, but and NES controller.
01:36:33
Speaker
ah No, thanks. In today's advantage, I don't want a rectangle controller. I'm sorry. yeah The Switch 2 versus the we Now, see, this is difficult because i literally just but do i don't have any experience with Switch 2.
01:36:50
Speaker
I will say Wii is the aesthetic on the Wii is just something else. Plus the ability to play GameCube on the Wii. I think that gives it, at least for now, an edge in my mind. So um'm I'm going to choose Wii.
01:37:04
Speaker
Okay. Match three, the GameCube versus the SNES. I love the SNES. I have to go with it. Oh, okay.
01:37:15
Speaker
i I mean, don't get me wrong. there's ah There's great stuff on GameCube as well, but something about the SNES graphically, musically, ah have a i have a lot of nostalgia for that.
01:37:28
Speaker
hair Match four, the Wii U versus N64. That's going be the 64. Sorry, sorry we you uh, you finals, the switch versus the, we see. And I knew this was going to happen and this is where it's really difficult. Right.
01:37:43
Speaker
I, I honestly, I think I have to go with, with, Oh, man. I love the character of the Wii so much. I love all the the the menu music. I love that it has, you know, there's personality to the to the console, which I don't think the Switch has.
01:38:00
Speaker
But the fact that I can play the Switch and in bed, because I have to take the Switch. Okay, the Switch takes it. ah And the yes versus the n sixty four i'm um I'm picking SNES on that one. Wow.
01:38:18
Speaker
Okay. Grand finals, the Switch versus the SNES. It's got it. I mean, it has to be the Switch. they they I think ah sales numbers alone, whatever, but I just think it does everything I want from a Nintendo console.
01:38:33
Speaker
And, you know, as far as mass market pushing the handheld and docked kind of experience, I think that it obviously has put a strain on the gaming industry if now every other manufacturer is trying to figure out how to do something similar. Right.
01:38:49
Speaker
Yeah, no, definitely. Okay, well, congratulations, Nintendo Switch, for winning the Game. ah We move on to this week in gaming history. Here's what happened in the past from June 16th to 29th. Some major events to kick it off.

01:40:32
Speaker
ah You know, I'm going to go back to ah at at the top at the top of recording for favorite character being Crash Bandicoot. I want more Crash. i I want a game that, duck granted, I think Crash 4 did a good job, ah but something still felt a little lacking to me. Give me Crash 5. Give me something slightly bigger.
01:40:55
Speaker
i don't know. i don't know what to expect, but I want it. Okay. That's a good choice. ah I think it'd be cool to see a new Crash game that wasn't, because the last Crash game was that Crash Team something.
01:41:09
Speaker
Crash, no, not Crash, multiplayer online Crash game. Yeah, I think so. I don't know. I didn't even check that one out, I don't think. Yeah. Which is unfortunate. I just think for like, for such an iconic, at least was, had you know, has been an iconic gaming character.

01:42:26
Speaker
um There's a demo out for this game right now. I can't remember when it's coming out, but I played it on stream last week or the week before. Easy Delivery Co. um Kind of PS1-inspired graphics. Again, and i said it with Tanuki, but but it's a it's a delivery game, right? So you're just going point-to-point making deliveries and stuff, but the the vibes on that game is so good. if You're like in the snow, everything's cloudy, it it it feels good.
